- 0:15Speaker 1: Welcome back to another thralling episode of creep Cast. Today
- 0:19we're gonna be talking about the thing in the basement.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Is getting better at mimicking people.
- 0:24Speaker 1: And before we get into this, I just wanted to say,
- 0:26be sure and check us out on Spotify, Apple, Podcast,
- 0:29all those other places.
- 0:30Speaker 2: It helps us out a ton.
- 0:31Speaker 1: And also, I'd like to think that I'm not the
- 0:33best looker, so I think I'm better to listen to
- 0:36if I'm being honest. Right now, I see I see
- 0:40all the people dream voating over you, dude, but I
- 0:42don't get that kind of now there.
- 0:44Speaker 3: I've seen some people dream boat over you. I don't
- 0:46know what you're talking about.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Whatever, you're a.
- 0:49Speaker 3: Fan at that was talking about a certain kind of
- 0:52choo choo train. If you know what I mean.
- 0:54Speaker 4: Then most of us okay, all right, this is a
- 0:58four part series here, zoom passed ahead, got It's a
- 1:06four part series here.
- 1:07Speaker 1: I once again, as is tradition on the show, I
- 1:11have no idea about this show or about this story,
- 1:14but this is one that people have I've seen requested
- 1:17quite a bit, and I'm pretty stoked that the title
- 1:21is so intriguing.
- 1:22Speaker 2: I like it.
- 1:23Speaker 3: Yeah, so this is one of those occasions I think
- 1:27I may have to go back and look. But I
- 1:28had at least heard about everything that we've covered so
- 1:33far before the podcast, right, maybe not read it, but
- 1:35I heard about it. This is the first one that
- 1:38the first time I ever heard about it was in
- 1:40comments for creep Cast. People were like, you should check
- 1:42this out. So I'm completely blind. I'm as blind as
- 1:45you are on this one. So I'm excited to see
- 1:48how it goes and if if it's awful, it's your fault.
- 1:51Keep it like audience, it's your audience.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Well, okay, I was gonna say I thought I had
- 1:55to take the weight thing. No, not fine, I'll put
- 1:57it on the audience as well. A this is written
- 2:00that exo guy user that exo guy. Oh it was
- 2:03two years ago.
- 2:04Speaker 2: I wonder if that's kind of why it was past.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Is that because I feel like a lot of stuff
- 2:08that you know that I feel like a lot of
- 2:10the stuff that you know is like it was a
- 2:12little bit like maybe five to seven years ago, is where.
- 2:15Speaker 3: Your most you know what I mean, it's stuff I
- 2:18had with high school, like college, that's like area of expertise.
- 2:23But yeah, when it like that's why this is off
- 2:25my radar. But if it, that's not to say, you know,
- 2:28bad story, I mean good stories can't come out since then,
- 2:31not to say bad stories can't come out since not
- 2:33to say good stuff can't come out since then. So
- 2:36I'll tell you, I'll see what you kids are up to,
- 2:39what you zoomers have got in store.
- 2:41Speaker 1: I'm stoked. I mean, I'm ready to get into it.
- 2:43So I mean, I guess without further ado, let's read.
- 2:46Speaker 2: The thing in the basement is getting better at mimicking people.
- 2:50Speaker 3: Let's go for it, same as always. You you got quotes,
- 2:52and I got the I got the die the other stuff.
- 2:57Speaker 1: That is right, And I want to say that, you know,
- 2:59we don't have to be a rocket scientist to know
- 3:01that there's gonna be a lot of mimicking here. So
- 3:04if one if characters sounds similar, I don't know what.
- 3:06I'm just gonna tell you, all right, I'll have a
- 3:08slight deviation, but it's probably gonna be a little bit
- 3:10of rough pumpkins throughout this deal, all right.
- 3:12Speaker 2: That's all I gotta say.
- 3:13Speaker 3: If it becomes like an issue, I could take one
- 3:15maybe like I did Left Right Game. But until then
- 3:18I'm happy to see you like flail and suffer till
- 3:20we get.
- 3:20Speaker 1: To Yeah, well that's fine as long you know the
- 3:23cap apparently, so far as I think left right game
- 3:25was what seven characters, So I got six in the bag.
- 3:28As long as long as long as we can't sit
- 3:30in six, I think we'll be all right.
- 3:32Speaker 3: Yeah, as long as people start dying, you're good to go.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Right where we're perfect.
- 3:36Speaker 3: We're gravy, all right, Cool, cool, let's get into it.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Let's do it.
- 3:40Speaker 1: Part one. I never had a.
- 3:43Speaker 3: Close relationship with Sarah, my older half sister. She was
- 3:46born out of my dad's earlier marriage, so by the
- 3:49time I came into the picture, she was already a teenager.
- 3:52We didn't argue or fight, We simply never spent time together.
- 3:56I was starting kindergarten when she moved out, and she
- 3:58wasn't thrilled about and a younger brother. I barely saw
- 4:02her as I got older, meeting only occasionally during holiday
- 4:06gets togethers or in the once in a blue moon visits.
- 4:10But we were on good terms. So when the cops
- 4:12called us a few days ago to let us know
- 4:14they found her body, I was devastated. Some neighbors apparently
- 4:19called nine to one one when they heard screams and
- 4:21saw smoke coming out of the house. After the firefires
- 4:24put out a fire in the basement, they found some
- 4:26charred remains that they assumed were hers. Okay, first of all,
- 4:30out of the gate, the story's just like full throttle.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Like I mean, I was like, good God, yes, second, paragra,
- 4:39we've got a charred body, Like whoa, yeah. You know
- 4:42what's kind of interesting is it kind of reminds me
- 4:45of a Midsummer a bit whenever the girl unlives herself
- 4:49with her family in the house as well, and now
- 4:51we're kind of having this, uh, this strange relative and
- 4:55as the sister in Midsommer as well, who's kind of
- 4:58picking up the pieces after the fact. So I liked
- 5:01that the similarity is fun. But this is a yeah,
- 5:03I mean paragraph too. My god, we're just already in.
- 5:07Speaker 3: The head of the gate. All right, let's go with it.
- 5:10They couldn't identify her given the body state, but all
- 5:13the evidence pointed towards an accident. She didn't have a
- 5:16husband or kids, so the duty of burying her fell
- 5:20on us. The funeral was what you'd expect under such circumstances,
- 5:24lots of crying and mourning around a clothes casket, but
- 5:28the deed was done. I was left an only child,
- 5:31and a few days later we took to scouring her
- 5:33house and doing an inventory of her belongings. It was
- 5:37an all around unpleasant experience on many levels. It felt
- 5:40so wrong to go through her things like that, But
- 5:43with her only living relatives being my father and I,
- 5:46we inherited her house and possessions. We decided we didn't
- 5:51want them, so we'd sell almost everything. The plan was
- 5:55to only keep some of Sarah's stuff as mementos, things
- 5:58like pictures and whatnot. I went along with Dad to help,
- 6:02and we went and we went room by room, cataloging
- 6:05items one by one. Given the small size of the house,
- 6:08it went pretty fast, but we started late into the
- 6:11day and so we wouldn't be able to finish by nightfall.
- 6:15Speaker 1: One of the detectives wants to drop by later says
- 6:18he oh, sorry, says he has some Oh my god,
- 6:20let me restart one of the okay, first line already
- 6:24did great. One of the one of the detectives wants
- 6:26to wants to drop by later says he has some
- 6:28more investigating to do.
- 6:32Speaker 3: God, I know, I'm sorry. I'm not like I'm sorry. No,
- 6:38what's funny was your recovery of it? Because you're like, God, stupid,
- 6:41stupid idiot.
- 6:47Speaker 1: You know what? So this is the dad, I'm you
- 6:48know what?
- 6:49Speaker 2: Fuck it?
- 6:49Speaker 1: I'm giving a bat What are detective? What if the
- 6:52detectives want to drop? By lated said, He says he
- 6:55has to investigating to do.
- 6:58Speaker 2: That's what you get.
- 7:00Speaker 1: That's what you viewers get from making me feel so
- 7:01bad about messing up that first line.
- 7:03Speaker 3: My first thing, honor, this hell you're in was constructed
- 7:13by you.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Every now it is. That's forever the dad's voice. I
- 7:18don't care what it does to the story. That is
- 7:19the dad's voice moving forward.
- 7:22Speaker 3: What if it becomes like a very dramatic, like.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Serious weld, then it's gonna get very awkward very quickly.
- 7:28What the detectives? What's to drop?
- 7:30Speaker 3: By lea?
- 7:31Speaker 1: He has some more investigating to do.
- 7:34Speaker 3: I'm doing Okay, the audience is in here right now,
- 7:38this is a recording. All that I did was laugh
- 7:41at your recovery. You talked yourself and too meming the dad.
- 7:46Speaker 1: I'm in my own health, Okay, I'm in my own health.
- 7:49Speaker 3: All right, as long as we acknowledge who did it?
- 7:52Speaker 2: I did it.
- 7:53Speaker 3: I did it, okay, so bug man Dad says that
- 7:57My dad said, as we were getting ready to leave.
- 8:01Speaker 1: He asked for so to stay here to night.
- 8:03Speaker 2: But what a lowby?
- 8:06Speaker 1: Could you do it?
- 8:06Speaker 5: Jim?
- 8:08Speaker 3: Oh sure, I mumbled, not in the least thrilled about
- 8:13the prospect. Dad packed a small box of trinkets in
- 8:19his truck, and off he went home. The only room
- 8:23we hadn't gone into was the basement, and I wasn't
- 8:26about to do it by myself. The wooden door leading
- 8:29into it was wide open, charred by the fire and
- 8:32black with soot. The basement itself was in similar condition,
- 8:36ravaged by the fire and by the fireman's attempts to
- 8:38put it out. It unerved me to know when, so
- 8:42I dragged a chair out on the porch and spent
- 8:44the evening there. I smoked half a pack of cigarettes
- 8:47and drank some old beer left behind in the fridge,
- 8:50all while the neighbors regarded me with curiosity. A few
- 8:53of them even approached me, giving me their condolences when
- 8:56they found out I was Sarah's younger brother. The detective
- 8:59finally arrived at sundown, pulling onto the street in an
- 9:02old beater car. He looked like your average guy when
- 9:05he stepped out, dressed in a cheap suit and a
- 9:08loose coat hanging on his shoulders.
- 9:10Speaker 2: Hello, I'm Detective Marcus, he introduced himself.
- 9:14Speaker 1: Clanty, Nice to meet you, detective. Likewise, I had that
- 9:18for you, a beer, but I'm assumed you can't drink
- 9:21on duty.
- 9:22Speaker 3: Eh might as well, Marcus said, with the shrug of
- 9:25his shoulders.
- 9:27Speaker 2: I'm off the clock and I'll be here all night.
- 9:30Speaker 3: That took me by surprise, But who's I'd argue with
- 9:33the man. I fetched him a chair and a beer,
- 9:35so he sat down and lit up a cigarette as well.
- 9:38We had some admittedly awkward small talk, but the subject
- 9:41quickly moved to Sarah and her death. Marcus asked the
- 9:44usual questions. Was she depressed? Did she go out or
- 9:47was she a shut in? Did she have any friends
- 9:49or romantic partners? He could question all perfectly reasonable questions
- 9:53mat to dig up new leads, but I was the
- 9:56wrong person to try and answer them. I wasn't particularly
- 9:59close to say so, I didn't know most of the
- 10:01answers that Marcus wanted.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Don't worry about it, I get it, he reassured me.
- 10:08I don't speak much.
- 10:09Speaker 2: With my old man, for example, couldn't tell you his
- 10:12birthday if you put a gun to my head, let
- 10:14alone what he's up to these days.
- 10:16Speaker 1: It's just I never imagined she'd go like this. You know,
- 10:21I'd have to make an effort if I knew.
- 10:23Speaker 2: Don't beat yourself up over a kid. What's done is done.
- 10:27Speaker 3: It was getting late and darkness settled, so we went inside.
- 10:31I led Marcus to the living room and he shared
- 10:34some of the case details with me after we made
- 10:36ourselves comfortable.
- 10:39Speaker 2: The reason I wanted to stay in this house over
- 10:41night is this.
- 10:43Speaker 3: As he spoke, he pulled out a smartphone and browse
- 10:45some files on it.
- 10:47Speaker 2: I'll warn you they're pretty disturbing. If you want me
- 10:52to stop at any moment, just say so.
- 10:55Speaker 3: He pressed play in an audio file and laid the
- 10:57phone down on the small table between us. We both
- 11:00leaned in as Sarah's voice resounded from the speakers. I'll
- 11:04do my best to write down what she said for memory,
- 11:06as I don't have access to the recordings. Recording one
- 11:11is this.
- 11:12Speaker 6: App working test? Oh, okay, Well, my name is Sarah.
- 11:18I moved into this house two days ago, and I
- 11:22heard some strange noises last night from the basement. I'm
- 11:25kind of paranoid right now because I live here alone,
- 11:29so I'll leave my phone not to record them and hopefully.
- 11:32Speaker 5: Find what's up.
- 11:35Speaker 3: Recording two. Some breathing is heard in the background and
- 11:38the phone gets set down. Footsteps walk away from the microphone.
- 11:43Then it's quiet for a long time. Marcus skips through
- 11:46most of the recording, as it's nearly nine hours long.
- 11:50About two hours in, around midnight, the microphone catches a
- 11:54distant crash. Some skittering follows, sounded like a cat running
- 11:58around on bathroom tile. It goes on for a few hours,
- 12:02with long pauses between bouts. A deep voice calls out weakly,
- 12:12what the hell? I let out Marcus positive recording and
- 12:16looked at me.
- 12:18Speaker 2: Do you want me to stop it?
- 12:19Speaker 3: He asked. I contemplated this offer. On one hand, whatever
- 12:24followed had the potential to traumatize me for life, but
- 12:27on the other hand, the sheer curiosity would eat me
- 12:31up alive if I didn't find out more. So I
- 12:33gave in and told him to let it play. The
- 12:39voice calls again, this time sounded more human.
- 12:43Speaker 5: Yes, is anyone? Is anyone there?
- 12:48Speaker 3: No one answers it. The voice falls silent, and the
- 12:52skittering carries it away from the microphone. No more sounds
- 12:55are heard that night. Recording three the hell what the hell?
- 13:02Speaker 7: I knew it?
- 13:03Speaker 5: Someone's living in my basement.
- 13:05Speaker 3: Recording four Okay, I come down a bit.
- 13:09Speaker 6: I was terrified after I listened to the to the
- 13:12last recording, so I ran out of the house and
- 13:14called the cops. A squad card came after about half
- 13:18an hour, and the bastard took their sweet time. I
- 13:21showed them the recording. I went back inside, accompanied by
- 13:25a cop, and we checked out the basement. No one
- 13:28was there. We turned the place inside out. We checked everything,
- 13:32but the room is small, the windows, no exits, and
- 13:35no place for someone to hide. Cops think that it
- 13:39was an intruder that broke in, but they couldn't find
- 13:42any signs of it. They said they'll patrol the neighborhood
- 13:45at night and keep on keep on the lookout for
- 13:47any suspicious activity. One of them also asked me to
- 13:51keep recording just in case.
- 13:53Speaker 3: Recording five Okay.
- 13:56Speaker 6: Here goes, I'll leave the phone out tonight as well.
- 13:59The car just passed on the streets, so I feel
- 14:01a bit safer.
- 14:03Speaker 3: The sound of the phone being placed down is heard.
- 14:05Sara's footsteps follow She leaves, and the recording is silent
- 14:10for a few hours. Marcus skips ahead through it until
- 14:13another distant crash is caught. Skittering returns, stopping a few
- 14:18feet away from the microphone. Hello, The voice calls out.
- 14:25Speaker 5: Is anyone there?
- 14:27Speaker 3: It sounds more feminine than the last time, still in human,
- 14:33sort of like an artificially generated voice, averging on crossing
- 14:37the uncanny valley into unnatural sounding territory. It calls out
- 14:41a few more times over the span of a few hours,
- 14:44sounding more and more like a woman. When it becomes
- 14:48apparent that no one will answer its calls, the voice stops.
- 14:52The skittering takes it away from the microphone, and the
- 14:55rest of the recording is silent.
- 14:58Speaker 1: This is getting This is getting all kinds of freaky.
- 15:02Speaker 3: I mumbled, I know. Marcus admitted, never seen anything like
- 15:09it before.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Do you recognize the voice by any chance?
- 15:13Speaker 1: Not a clue? I admitted, it doesn't sound familiar.
- 15:19Speaker 2: I was afraid that.
- 15:20Speaker 3: Would be the case, Marcus said, with a sigh.
- 15:24Speaker 2: Sarah confirms the possible identity to the voice later on
- 15:26the recording, but I wanted a double check.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Then maybe show it to Dad.
- 15:31Speaker 3: I provided a solution.
- 15:33Speaker 1: He was closer to Sarah than me. He might have
- 15:36an idea.
- 15:38Speaker 3: Marcus fell silent for a long moment. He joined his
- 15:41hands beneath his chin and leaned forward, propping his elbows
- 15:44on the table. Look in his eyes turned grim and worried.
- 15:50Speaker 8: I'm sorry, Sonny, he sat out of the blue for
- 15:54all you've heard so far and for all that's to follow.
- 15:57But I'm glad it's not your father that decided to stay.
- 16:01These recordings might just break him.
- 16:04Speaker 3: What I s dumbfounded?
- 16:07Speaker 1: What's what's that supposed to mean?
- 16:11Speaker 3: It will make sense if you keep listening, Marcus answered.
- 16:16The change in his demeanor was strange, and the night
- 16:19took an unnerving turn. I should have backed out. I
- 16:23should have kicked him out. I should have done a
- 16:25lot of things differently, But my curiosity mounted to levels
- 16:28beyond my ability to rein it in, so I proceeded
- 16:32to listen further.
- 16:33Speaker 1: Man, all right, so that's the ending of recording or
- 16:35that's the the before we get into recording six here. Yeah,
- 16:38it's a pretty interesting build up like that. It's it's
- 16:41it's building up that obviously something like pretty crazy happens.
- 16:45But even this Marcus guy, she kind of or Sonny
- 16:48kind of alludes to the idea of I should have
- 16:50kicked him out, I should have done a lot of
- 16:51things differently. So I'm wondering what Marcus is getting ready
- 16:56to reveal or I don't know. Dare I say this
- 17:00early on that Marcus could possibly be the creepy person
- 17:03in the basement. I don't know.
- 17:05Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 17:06Speaker 3: So m I'm very I'm very interested. It has me,
- 17:10it has me hooked, great opener. My curiosity, I'm saying
- 17:14this is a bit of a cynic, right, My curiosity
- 17:18is if it keeps this energy up right, because this
- 17:21this is like a bat to the skull way to
- 17:24start a story, right, my sister's dead on fire. A
- 17:27cop pulls up, he gives me tapes. It's my sister.
- 17:29There's a thing in her basement like it's and you
- 17:31know what if it if it like it builds off this,
- 17:33or if this is like a cold open or something
- 17:35that's the setup for the rest of the story Stellar.
- 17:38I love it. This is this is so much fun
- 17:40because I'm already like, I'm already around the campfire in
- 17:43my head. It's already creepy. I'm already freaked out and
- 17:46we're just we're not even like halfway through the first part.
- 17:49So I'm excited. This is good.

- 19:32Speaker 2: And back to the episode, recording six, let us go on,
- 19:38what the hell that was?
- 19:39Speaker 5: Mom?
- 19:41Speaker 3: Sarah cries into the microphone for a few minutes before
- 19:43the recording ends.
- 19:46Speaker 1: Oh interesting, so recording six, she was, so Sarah is
- 19:50thinking that the person in the basements mimicking her mother
- 19:53at this point.
- 19:54Speaker 3: Yeah, I wonder if does he mention his mom anywhere before?
- 19:57I don't think so?
- 19:58Speaker 2: Right?
- 19:58Speaker 3: Does he say I don't think.
- 19:59Speaker 1: So, because it seems like it's the Also, it's if
- 20:03I believe it's the mom from a different earlier marriage, right, Yeah,
- 20:07So it's like I don't think that even Sonny knows
- 20:10what this is.
- 20:11Speaker 3: That also explains why the cop was like, I'm glad
- 20:13you're here, you know, because you never even knew this
- 20:15mom that she's talking about.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Yeah, that makes sense.
- 20:18Speaker 2: He's like, it's probably gonna be a lot easier for
- 20:19you to know.
- 20:21Speaker 3: Yeah. Interesting, Okay, right, this is pretty okay?
- 20:27Speaker 5: All right?
- 20:27Speaker 3: Recording seven, I'm I'm not going to call the cops anymore.
- 20:33Speaker 6: That was Mom calling out. I don't I don't want
- 20:36to talk to her, she's been gone for so long.
- 20:39Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I don't know.
- 20:44Speaker 2: How I like that.
- 20:46Speaker 3: Yeah, you know what I call the old fashioned talking
- 20:50to dead lady.
- 20:53Speaker 1: Well, I'm even just thinking about being down in my
- 20:55basement right now, and I think I hear my deceased
- 20:58mother like, oh god. Well, also she's doing a thing too.
- 21:01It's weird. She's like those my mom calling out. I
- 21:04don't want to talk to her, she's been gone for
- 21:05so long. Like I feel like a lot of stories
- 21:08would take an angle about being like, oh I want
- 21:11to you know, I missed my mom. Like that's a
- 21:12huge part of like talk to me as a girl
- 21:14is trying to reach out to her deceased mom. So
- 21:17I don't know, just the saying of like I don't
- 21:18want to talk to her, it's been so long. It's
- 21:20kind of the opposite, the opposite reaction I would expect
- 21:24from either a deceased mom.
- 21:26Speaker 2: Right.
- 21:26Speaker 3: I find myself as I get older, I get more
- 21:29scared by like concepts and mimicry, you know, like family
- 21:32members and stuff like that, because I think it's just
- 21:35I was so desensitized to it as a kid, because
- 21:37everything you read is like it was wearying my mom's face,
- 21:40or it looked like my dad or you know whatever.
- 21:43But thinking about like a literal scenario where an unexplainable
- 21:48thing looks like like your parent or your loved one
- 21:52or something like that, and it's it's like trying to
- 21:55sound like them like it. The more I think about,
- 21:57the more I don't like it, the more the well.
- 22:02Speaker 1: This one's interesting too, because she's not even singing. It's
- 22:05it's just all sound, so in her head, it's like
- 22:08now she's visualizing that in her mind.
- 22:11Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, all right, So recording eight.
- 22:17Speaker 6: Okay, I've come down a bit. I hope I'll wait
- 22:21here tonight.
- 22:22Speaker 3: The recording is silent for a long time. It turns
- 22:25off abruptly about half an hour.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Do you know anything about Sarah's mother?
- 22:31Speaker 3: I jumped back in my chair at the sudden interjection,
- 22:34completely absorbed by my thoughts.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Not really, she died before I was born. It was
- 22:42why dad remarried.
- 22:43Speaker 3: Marcus gave me a thoughtful nod of his head and answer,
- 22:46and he played the next recording, recording nine.
- 22:49Speaker 5: It's back.
- 22:51Speaker 6: I'll start another recording.
- 22:52Speaker 3: The scurrying returns. Sarah's breathing is audible in the background,
- 22:57and it gets faster as the sound approaches her. A
- 23:00chair creaks, presumably as she gets up, and her footsteps
- 23:05joined the skittering in the background.
- 23:07Speaker 5: Hello.
- 23:08Speaker 3: The same woman's voice from the previous recording calls out,
- 23:12who are you?
- 23:14Speaker 5: Who are you?
- 23:16Speaker 3: The voice repeats Sarah's words back to her mom. Mom.
- 23:26The voice repeats her words again, Who the.
- 23:28Speaker 6: Hell are you? How do you have my mother's voice?
- 23:32Speaker 5: Who are you?
- 23:34Speaker 3: The voice repeats. Footsteps resound again, approaching the voice as
- 23:39it says the same line over and over. Answer me,
- 23:44Sarah demands. Knocking is heard as if someone bashes the
- 23:48door with their fist. Answer me, The voice cus what
- 23:53do you want? Voice lets out a few garbled words,
- 23:56but they are unintelligible. It's pitch and in ation adjust
- 24:01before it speaks again.
- 24:04Speaker 5: Sarah, my dear, is that you?
- 24:08Speaker 3: I was left stupefied. The uncanny valley was finally crossed,
- 24:12and the voice sounded decidingly human for the first time.
- 24:16It held none of the animalistic traits from before. The
- 24:19subtle anger and malice in it was gone, replaced by
- 24:22a deep sense of compassion and worry.
- 24:26Speaker 9: I haven't seen you and so long Sarah weeps silently
- 24:33in the background, but she doesn't answer the voice again. It, however,
- 24:40keeps calling out.
- 24:42Speaker 5: Life, Life, miss missed you.
- 24:45Speaker 3: My dear footsteps sound out as Sarah backs away and
- 24:49the voice grows distant. It calls out over and over again,
- 24:54but the facade cracks. It can't maintain its grasp on
- 24:58the charade for long, and it evolves back into the
- 25:01Uncanny Valley. Slowly, the footsteps pick up speed until they
- 25:06turn into a run. After a few seconds, the voice
- 25:10becomes inaudible. A door is opened and close shut with force,
- 25:14and Sarah starts crying uncontrollably. The recording stops.
- 25:21Speaker 1: I just want to say, we're not done with the recording,
- 25:22but I just want to say, this is.
- 25:23Speaker 3: Uh, that's that's pretty crazy, the Uncanny Valley aspect of it.
- 25:31Speaker 1: It's really fun to read, by the way, It's truly
- 25:33really cool.
- 25:33Speaker 3: But yeah, dude, your voice, your voice gave me chills,
- 25:36that's all. I was like giggling because when you would
- 25:38like go back and forth at the same time, that
- 25:40was hot.
- 25:41Speaker 2: Yeah, Jesus Christ, it's hot, alright, ezy now.
- 25:44Speaker 3: H the I'm thinking about that train at it my vadom.
- 25:50Speaker 1: The so wait, just to clarify as well, because I
- 25:52don't know if I'm the only one. Usually i'm the
- 25:54only one thinking this, So apologies, But is Sarah she's
- 25:58she can't see the things. You can only hear the
- 26:01creature moving around or whatever, a non like whatever kind
- 26:05of random entity.
- 26:06Speaker 3: This is right, Okay. So the way this reads to
- 26:08me is initially yes, uh, but in this recording nine,
- 26:11she's closer to it because it says her her footsteps
- 26:14joined the skittering, so it sounds like they're in the
- 26:17same position, you know, relative to the recorder. And then
- 26:20you hear hello, who are you mom? What? And then
- 26:26what are you? Why do you have my mother?
- 26:27Speaker 2: A voice?
- 26:27Speaker 5: Who are you?
- 26:28Speaker 3: And then it says the footsteps resound again, approaching the voice.
- 26:33Speaker 1: And then it says, you know what I'm thinking, is that,
- 26:36sorry to interrupt you, is that it makes me think
- 26:38that like she's in a dark like Sarah is in
- 26:41this dark basement, and like maybe she's like trying to
- 26:43like turn on the light but can't turn it. Like
- 26:46it's definitely a dark thing. So I'm just imagining like
- 26:48one burnt out light bulb over like broken light bulb
- 26:51in the center of that just like that little that
- 26:52little chain, the little chain you have to turn on
- 26:55the light.
- 26:55Speaker 2: It's just like barely swaying.
- 26:57Speaker 1: So you like see that like the creature uh messed
- 27:01with it, like in my mind's eye, that's what That's
- 27:03what I'm saying. And even to do something where it's
- 27:05like you barely see something in the in the darkness
- 27:08of a room is so creepy.
- 27:10Speaker 3: Yeah, so I have the exact same idea. I kind
- 27:13of imagine Sarah is maybe in like a cone of light, right,
- 27:17and then there's something in like the shadow of the
- 27:19basement that's getting closer. And I think at the line
- 27:22after Sarah Yell's answer me, and then the voice says, Sarah,
- 27:25my dear, is that you. Sarah doesn't speak after that here,
- 27:29and the last thing we see about her is it
- 27:30says she weeps silently, and then says footsteps sound is
- 27:34Sarah backs away. So I think at that point she
- 27:36saw whatever it is.
- 27:38Speaker 1: I was wondering if she's I'm wondering if if she
- 27:41didn't see what it was, but she was like, this
- 27:43is not my mom kind Well, I.
- 27:45Speaker 3: Mean, look look at this this paragraph. The footsteps pick
- 27:48up speed, until they turn into a run. After a
- 27:51few seconds, the voice becomes an audible. The door's open
- 27:54and close shut with force, and Sarah starts crying uncontrollably.
- 27:58Speaker 1: So she saw it turned around?
- 28:00Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, so yeah.
- 28:03Speaker 1: I don't know. I mean, we still got to read on,
- 28:05but I almost see that she was so horrified by it,
- 28:07because you know, the only light source I'm thinking is
- 28:09coming coming from into the basement is from I would
- 28:13assume the doorway that has opened opened up, like the
- 28:18door leading into the basement, I assume that's stayed open,
- 28:21and it's just like the small trickle of light to
- 28:23where the there's a little bit of light coming down,
- 28:25but it's like the entire basement of shroud in darkness.
- 28:28So I yeah, I assume that she saw something, or
- 28:30maybe she saw the silhouette of something it freaked her out,
- 28:32or she came to terms of something and ran away,
- 28:35and it's just like totally in shambles.
- 28:38Speaker 2: All right, let's keep going.
- 28:39Speaker 3: I will say so my early like, again, we're not
- 28:42even halfway through part one, but my initial thing is
- 28:47I think this would kill as an audio show.
- 28:52Speaker 1: Oh yeah yeah, And I'm sure there's some out there
- 28:55and we'll.
- 28:56Speaker 3: We'll look at We'll do what we always do and
- 28:58look into it, you know as we get.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Yeah, look into it and be sure and give a
- 29:01nice shout out at the end for some of the
- 29:02stuff that we found.
- 29:03Speaker 3: For sure, absolutely, so.
- 29:05Speaker 2: Let's keep going. The recordings are time stamped, Marcus said.
- 29:09If this one ended, Sarah didn't make another one for
- 29:12a few days.
- 29:14Speaker 3: Considering what I just heard, I didn't know what to answer.
- 29:17I kept silent mulling over my own thoughts and feelings
- 29:20on the matter. As intriguing as the situation was, I
- 29:23mostly felt horrified and sorry for Sarah. I couldn't even
- 29:28begin to imagine what must have gone through her head
- 29:30after living through that.
- 29:32Speaker 1: Why are you showing me all of this? If you
- 29:35really are detective and part of the police force, you'd
- 29:37lock stuff like this away behind ten locks and keys?
- 29:42What a weird thing to say? I why specifically ten
- 29:46locks here?
- 29:48Speaker 3: That's like a twelve year old statement. You put I
- 29:51don't know, ten locks on that like a high number.
- 29:55Speaker 1: You'd put this stuff in diagon Alley.
- 30:00Speaker 3: Spikes pop culture reference. You'd have to catch this with
- 30:03the Infinity Gauntlet.
- 30:06Speaker 2: What is this place?
- 30:07Speaker 1: What do you mean, it's where Wichard's and wizards go.
- 30:10Speaker 2: Oh, I've never heard of such a police.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Oh Mark, is you crazy, little crazy ol goose?
- 30:15Speaker 3: What what is this some kind of horre crush?
- 30:19Speaker 5: She's like, what is this?
- 30:20Speaker 3: A horn? Crucksy?
- 30:21Speaker 1: Yeah, has like a deathly hollows ankle tattoo. This is
- 30:25this is actually, this is actually a thirty two year
- 30:28old woman.
- 30:34Speaker 3: I guess this creature sure was up to no good?
- 30:37Speaker 5: Huh.
- 30:38Speaker 3: I bet he solemnly swore it.
- 30:42Speaker 2: Marcus is like, I'm begging you to please stuff.
- 30:47Speaker 3: I don't understand what you're doing, but I know it's
- 30:49a reference to something, and I don't care.
- 30:51Speaker 2: The hell is a huffle puff? What the hell is
- 30:55the what the hell do you mean? Hufflepuff?
- 31:00Speaker 3: Man? Marcus? Whatever this thing was, it's a raven. It's
- 31:03a slitherin for sure.
- 31:05Speaker 1: Yeah, I better. I hope Sarah didn't find the sorning
- 31:08hat down there. Who knows what how she would have
- 31:12been in.
- 31:14Speaker 2: Okay, well, I'm going to keep playing of it, this
- 31:16crazy deity attacking your stepsister.
- 31:19Speaker 3: The references don't even make sense. It's like, wow, I
- 31:23sure do feel like a malfoy about this, Like just man,
- 31:31this sure is hagrid.
- 31:33Speaker 1: Marcus, you're giving off hagrid energy. You mean so hagrid
- 31:38right now, you better watch a tone as he says, Man.
- 31:41Speaker 3: This is serious, so serious, it's black.
- 31:45Speaker 1: Did you like that pun? Marcus, he's already gone. He's
- 31:50in his car, driving away down the road. The creature
- 31:54from the creature like crawls in the house, and it's just.
- 31:57Speaker 2: Like, I was gonna do a bunch of stuff.
- 31:58Speaker 3: But I had like this whole four part series playing out. Yeah,
- 32:05I was gonna do a bunch of stuff. I had
- 32:10this whole thing playing with the lights they were gonna
- 32:12go out, and I was gonna pit around. I was
- 32:15gonna do but I can't be bothered. Yeah, man, Marcus,
- 32:19drive away together the creature and Marcus.
- 32:23Speaker 2: Oh, she was just ding up a wall.
- 32:26Speaker 3: Let's try that again. Let's start over another teenage woman.
- 32:33Speaker 1: But but no, you'd lock stuff like this away behind
- 32:36ten locks and keys.
- 32:37Speaker 2: I'm not gonna let that slow us down.
- 32:39Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, continue. Marcus leaned back in his own chair,
- 32:43thinking my question over. He pulled out his crumpled up
- 32:46pack of cigarettes and retrieved one from it. I pushed
- 32:49the ashtray closer to his side of the table as
- 32:51he lit it up, and he bellowed out a cloud
- 32:53of white smoke.
- 32:55Speaker 2: All in due time.
- 32:57Speaker 3: His eyes scanned me in the fashion completely different from before,
- 33:01with a cold and calculated look behind them.
- 33:05Speaker 2: What do you think so far?
- 33:06Speaker 1: I fuck, I don't know what the hell is going on?
- 33:12Speaker 2: Answer me Clancy, and be honest. Whether or not I'll
- 33:16show you more depends on it. Right.
- 33:18Speaker 3: Weird, Yeah, that's kind of a weird thing. The kid's
- 33:21name's Clancy, though. I like that name, so I'll let
- 33:23it slide.
- 33:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 33:24Speaker 1: Well, first he said Sonny, and now he says clans
- 33:27it's Sonny, just like just like a boomer way to
- 33:30greet a kid. Well, hi, Sonny, you know so Clancy.
- 33:33So this isn't a thirty two year old woman. This
- 33:35is a thirty two year old man who's a Harry
- 33:37Potter fanatic. Clancy, right, Clancy, Clancy man.
- 33:41Speaker 3: Clancy's a boy's name.
- 33:42Speaker 2: Yeah yeah.
- 33:43Speaker 3: Earlier in the story he said he's the older brother.
- 33:46Oh that's right, okay, yeah, your younger brother. Younger brother,
- 33:48I mean yeah, yeah, yeah, she's not wait you know
- 33:52that the boys like younger right, yeah, lives with his parents. Yeah,
- 33:56he's not thirty two.
- 33:58Speaker 1: No, but I like to imagine, oh in your head
- 34:02can in my mind?
- 34:03Speaker 2: Die?
- 34:03Speaker 3: I see? Okay, all right, I don't want to take
- 34:05that from you.
- 34:06Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I imagine Clancy is. I'd say teens, right,
- 34:11which is I'm going to get.
- 34:12Speaker 3: Like fifteen sixteen?
- 34:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I would say it's kind of weird that a
- 34:16detective is singling out of fifteen sixteen year old kid.
- 34:19It's also what do you think?
- 34:21Speaker 2: Be serious?
- 34:22Speaker 1: What do you think of this?
- 34:24Speaker 2: He's like, it's weird. I don't know what.
- 34:26Speaker 1: He's like, Okay, you're perfect. Well we'll keep going. What
- 34:28if he's like that, it's pretty normal. He's like, all right,
- 34:30good day.
- 34:33Speaker 3: I just want to freak you out.
- 34:34Speaker 2: I know you can tell me, all right, well this
- 34:37is no fun, goodbye.
- 34:40Speaker 3: I racked my brain, but I was truly and utterly stopped.
- 34:43The situation devolved too fast for me to keep up,
- 34:46and I didn't know what to think anymore. But I
- 34:48could tell that that wasn't the answer Marcus wanted.
- 34:52Speaker 1: It's I don't know, a ghost, a demon, a skin walker?
- 35:00Speaker 3: What is this kind of cream cast?
- 35:02Speaker 1: I've been listening to a lot of creep cast and
- 35:04these are just some suggestions that I have.
- 35:07Speaker 3: Well, what are we some kind of suicide squad?
- 35:10Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe the maybe the entity has a I don't know,
- 35:15some kind of cave where he goes and impregnates tons
- 35:19of people. I don't know, right, Marcus is like.
- 35:22Speaker 2: What the hell are you talking about?
- 35:24Speaker 3: It's funny. I don't know what you're talking about. For
- 35:27a second, I'm like, cave and pregnate. Yeah, I'm like,
- 35:30oh wait, I did that.
- 35:31Speaker 1: Yeah that was that was a slight tumor grows in
- 35:35the back of your head and it's just like brusque car.
- 35:38Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, it just it follows me around.
- 35:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:40Speaker 3: See, now that I was able to pass on the
- 35:42cursed you all, and specifically you Hunter, I just have
- 35:45pleasant memories of Brosco. What a nice little story. Psychopath, Yeah, psychopath. Yeah.
- 35:52Marcus seems surprised by that. He pushed the cigarette away
- 35:55from this.
- 35:56Speaker 2: That's kind of funny.
- 35:57Speaker 1: Marcus seems surprised by that. By you mean by him
- 35:59saying a skin waker surprised.
- 36:03Speaker 3: The detectives like, what do you think happened to your
- 36:05sister and the boys, like, I think a skinwalker.
- 36:07Speaker 2: Conner surprising, don't know, why you thought that.
- 36:12Speaker 3: But I was just gonna say, someone you know, pretended
- 36:15to be your mom. What are you talking about?
- 36:18Speaker 2: Like, I don't know. There's probably a guy broke into
- 36:20your house.
- 36:20Speaker 3: Okay, home invasions are pretty common. What do you what
- 36:23is a skin walker?
- 36:26Speaker 2: I don't know what the fuck a skin walker is.
- 36:28Speaker 1: To be complete, I've only seen documentaries where it's like
- 36:30Skinwalker Ranch. No one ever really says.
- 36:32Speaker 2: What it is.
- 36:33Speaker 3: Oh, you don't know who skinwalker is?
- 36:35Speaker 2: No, I have no idea.
- 36:36Speaker 3: This is a safe space. The comments will boil you,
- 36:39but I won't. So a skinwalker is a creature from
- 36:43It's it's a lot of like Western American Native American mythology,
- 36:48but primarily like the Navajo. It's effectively was a shaman
- 36:54or like medicine man who became a witch doctor began
- 36:59to practice like, you know, darker sides of you know,
- 37:03mysticism or tradition and stuff like that, and began to
- 37:07develop the qualities of dark spirits. So in a lot
- 37:11of renditions of the story, they either become a cannibal
- 37:13or they become some kind of killer, and using the
- 37:16dark spirits that they've taken on, they can shape shift
- 37:20into the forms of various animals that they kill. So
- 37:24if the shaman or if the witch doctor kills a coyote,
- 37:29he can wear the skin of the coyote and become one.
- 37:32But it's always implied that there's something a little off
- 37:35about it. Maybe their cry doesn't sound quite right, maybe
- 37:38their legs don't move the way they're supposed to. That's
- 37:40why when you see like uncanny animals, people will be like,
- 37:43is that a skin walker? Okay, and like that's the
- 37:47original story. It blends a lot with like Wind to
- 37:49Go imagery, where people say it's not really like a
- 37:53medicine man, it's kind of just like a monster that
- 37:56can shape shift. But yeah, skinwalker basically means a shape shifter.
- 38:00Speaker 2: Okay.
- 38:00Speaker 1: It would be the same thing if they killed and
- 38:02ate a human being, would they be able to take.
- 38:05Speaker 2: The likeness of that human It's not always they have
- 38:08to eat them.
- 38:08Speaker 3: It's normally they have to wear the skin of them.
- 38:10In some stories they're cannibals too, okay, but yeah, yeah,
- 38:14Like so, say it killed someone you knew and pretended
- 38:19to be them. From a distance, it looked fine, but
- 38:21then you got closer. Maybe they walked differently. Maybe their
- 38:24face looks a bit off, maybe their speech is a
- 38:26bit different. That's like the idea.
- 38:28Speaker 1: Okay, well, yeah, I sympathize with Marcus being slightly surprised.
- 38:32Speaker 3: Then yeah, yeah, fair, he's like, go on, you were saying,
- 38:40you were saying, he pushed the cigarette away from his face,
- 38:43letting out another lung full of smoke.
- 38:48Speaker 1: And you believe that that it could be something supernatural?
- 38:54What the fuck else could it be? What do you
- 38:59think it is?
- 39:00Speaker 2: What I think is irrelevant. I want to know what
- 39:03you believe. God, dude, what is up with Marcus? This
- 39:07is like some weird I don't know.
- 39:09Speaker 3: Maybe Marcus isn't a cop, or maybe he is, but
- 39:12he's been like chasing some supernatural angle for a while
- 39:15or something.
- 39:16Speaker 1: Yeah, well I don't know that's what I believe.
- 39:19Speaker 3: Maybe hold on, maybe he's not a cop at all.
- 39:22Maybe he just because the only person who said he's
- 39:25a cop is Clancy's dad. Saybe he has been following
- 39:30like supernatural leads. Thanks, yeah I'm supernatural, And it's like, oh,
- 39:33I'm a cop. Can I talk to your son?
- 39:36Speaker 1: Him being so hung up on that either makes you
- 39:38think that the dad is like very mental and well,
- 39:40or something something that makes him be like the validity
- 39:43of Clancy's responses, where he would need to be like,
- 39:47I need to know if you think this is supernatural
- 39:48or something that could actually happen, or something like I
- 39:50don't know, Clancy says, that's what I believe. I didn't
- 39:57know Sarah well, but she wouldn't fake something like this,
- 40:00So either she was haunted by something or or you're
- 40:03messing with me.
- 40:05Speaker 2: That's the correct.
- 40:06Speaker 3: Answer, Marcus said with a satisfied smirk. He put out
- 40:10the cigarette in the ash tree and leaned over the phone,
- 40:12placing a finger over its screen.
- 40:15Speaker 2: So how about it. Do you want to hear more?
- 40:20Why would I want that? Do you or do you not? Clancy,
- 40:25no hard feelings either way. I can't force you to listen.
- 40:29Speaker 1: I yeah, start the next one.
- 40:33Speaker 3: I don't know for sure why I decided that we
- 40:35get set here all day while I blame curiosity or
- 40:38more likely stupidity, but those answers would be half truths
- 40:43at best. It didn't feel like a want at the time.
- 40:47It felt like a need. I needed to go through
- 40:49with it. I needed to hear all of it. The
- 40:52reasons I felt that way didn't matter at that moment.
- 40:56Speaker 2: I had a good feeling about you.
- 40:57Speaker 3: Kid, Marcus mumbled as his finger tapped the screen and
- 41:01started the next recording, recording ten.
- 41:06Speaker 6: I don't know what to do anymore. It's druving me nuts.
- 41:09Whoever's messing with me comes back every night. I hear
- 41:13them even now.
- 41:15Speaker 3: The microphone picks up footsteps and a door creaks open. Slowly.
- 41:20Faint mumbling comes from the distance, accompanied by the familiar skittering.
- 41:25It pauses for a brief moment before it speaks up.
- 41:30Speaker 5: Sarah, my dear.
- 41:32Speaker 3: The voice calls out, not entirely human, please I just
- 41:38The door closes shut with a loud thud, and Sarah
- 41:41retreats back into the room.
- 41:44Speaker 6: I tried a lot of things over the past few days.
- 41:47It calls from the basement, so I got locks and
- 41:50put them on the door. They're untouched, so whoever it
- 41:53is isn't coming from outside of the house. It hides
- 41:57in there somehow, And I called the cops again. Well,
- 42:00the thing was there, but it left. When the cops arrived.
- 42:04The two officers asked me and unlocked the door, and
- 42:06they checked the basement again.
- 42:08Speaker 5: But lo and behold it's as empty as last time.
- 42:12I'm not sure what they think of me.
- 42:14Speaker 6: Maybe they suspect I'm fucking with them, so I can't
- 42:17rely on their help. I even told Amy about the
- 42:21thing and showed her at the recordings, so she slept
- 42:23over yesterday. The things somehow knew I wasn't alone, because
- 42:28it didn't make it peat the entire night. I'm not
- 42:31sure if Amy believes.
- 42:32Speaker 3: Me or not anymore.
- 42:34Speaker 6: Well, I wouldn't believe me if I were her, but
- 42:38she offered a solution, get a roommate or a boyfriend,
- 42:42someone to live with me.
- 42:44Speaker 5: It could work, but I don't know anymore.
- 42:47Speaker 2: Do you know this, Amy?
- 42:49Speaker 3: Marcus ass As the recording ended.
- 42:53Speaker 1: I think Sarah mentioned her a few times, but I
- 42:55never met her.
- 42:57Speaker 3: I looked over my shoulder as I answered at the
- 42:59court or leading into the kitchen. The basement door was
- 43:03on one of the walls there, and I could see
- 43:05the locks mentioned in the recording. They hung open on
- 43:09the door, but they were still intact. Marcus snapped his
- 43:12fingers to get my clearly distracted attention, and he pointed
- 43:15down to the phone.
- 43:17Speaker 2: Want to keep going? Yeah? Before I hit play, I
- 43:23want to ask you something again, did you buy any
- 43:26chance suffer any mental trauma as a child or even
- 43:31recently something that shook you to your core?
- 43:35Speaker 3: I raised an eyebrow at the strange question.
- 43:39Speaker 2: No, why you're taking all of the surprising will? Your
- 43:44mental fortitude is pretty high. That's sometimes a sign of
- 43:49never mind.
- 43:51Speaker 3: He hit play before I could pry him for more details,
- 43:54so I fell silent to not miss it. But I
- 43:57made up my mind when it was over, Marcus would
- 44:00have a lot of answering to do. Okay, So clearly
- 44:03Marcus is like putting together some like Avengers initiative, right
- 44:07that that whole Your mental fortitude is pretty high. It's
- 44:10a sign of you know, clairvoyant children or whatever.
- 44:15Speaker 1: Well, now I'm wondering if he's almost wondering if this
- 44:17thing is uh is our main protagonist?
- 44:24Speaker 2: Maybe what do you think about that?
- 44:25Speaker 3: I mean, you mean, like, does he think Clancy is
- 44:28the creature?
- 44:30Speaker 10: Yeah?
- 44:30Speaker 3: I mean I don't know, like that that'd be a
- 44:33great mimic.
- 44:36Speaker 1: Well that's a yeah, I mean, that's the thing is.
- 44:37I'm like, I'm wondering if where does Marcus come into
- 44:40this to where he's so knowledgeable about it? Because really
- 44:43the thing about it is. Yes, it is creepy what
- 44:45we're hearing so far, but I don't think it's overtly disturbing,
- 44:49especially for I mean, like it it is, but I
- 44:51just mean, like, it's not like you're hearing Sarah get
- 44:54mauled to death or something like that one grizzly bear,
- 44:57like the documentary about the Grizzly Man whatever. And then
- 45:00the guy listens to the audio of him getting attacked,
- 45:02like that would be shocking to be like, well, that's weird.
- 45:06Maybe he needs a skin.
- 45:07Speaker 2: Walker, you know, like that would be odd.
- 45:10Speaker 1: But so far it's just people mimicking back and forth
- 45:13to a person that he kind of doesn't know very well.
- 45:15And now it is creepy because they're still in the house, right,
- 45:19They're in the house, like he can he sees the
- 45:21locks over there. So I didn't know if Marcus is
- 45:24maybe like suspicious, He's like, huh, you know, for hearing
- 45:28all this weird stuff, you're really not reacting the.
- 45:30Speaker 2: Way that I thought you would. And you know.
- 45:35Speaker 3: What you're saying that might be.
- 45:38Speaker 1: I don't think it's correct. I'm saying trying to get
- 45:40a grip on what he's on tap.
- 45:42Speaker 3: Of way wait. Wait back here at the top, it
- 45:46says he goes with his dad and they go room
- 45:50by room. So as far as unless something changes later
- 45:52in the recording, the house has this mimic in it.
- 45:56While Clancy and his dad are in there, they go
- 45:59room by room. Given the small size of the house,
- 46:02it went pretty fast. And then the dad says one
- 46:06of the detective wants to drop by, says he has
- 46:08some more investigator do. He asked for someone to stay
- 46:12here tonight, but work won't allow me. Could you do it, Champ?
- 46:15And he says sure. So is I'm thinking maybe the
- 46:20dad was the thing.
- 46:21Speaker 1: You know, Oh maybe I can't stay. Yeah, And he's
- 46:26just like the damage has been done in the dad line.
- 46:29I will see. I'm curious to that too.
- 46:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 46:31Speaker 1: Also what kind of dad. He's just like, Hey, you
- 46:32know this house that kind of like burnt down or whatever,
- 46:34and some people died in here. Hey, would you mind
- 46:37just staying for a bit, But god, I just have
- 46:39such a busy night ahead at my job.
- 46:43Speaker 2: Weird, try not to.
- 46:44Speaker 3: Think about the smell here. That's your sister's flesh. Don't
- 46:47don't worry about it.
- 46:48Speaker 1: See, that's kind of stuff.
- 46:49Speaker 2: That's you.
- 46:50Speaker 1: You know your your your feet are tracking all over.
- 46:52Speaker 3: The floor, noise whenever you step.
- 46:56Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 46:58Speaker 1: The ashes that are on your feet that you're tracking before,
- 47:00that's actually your sister's burnt skin. It's the ash for
- 47:03burnt skin. So don't worry about that. I have I
- 47:07have to go to my job. I have to, all.
- 47:10Speaker 3: Right, So you talk to the cops. I'm gonna go
- 47:13get some roadies.
- 47:14Speaker 1: We're gonna takena do what we gotta do.
- 47:17Speaker 3: Do a little booze cruising, kind of steady of me
- 47:20for the road son, you.
- 47:21Speaker 1: Know, yeah, have fun. Twelve year old child of.
- 47:24Speaker 3: Mine talking to the cops a nerd booze.
- 47:32Speaker 1: Recording eleven.
- 47:33Speaker 6: I try my best to ignore it. I slept at
- 47:36a friend's house some nights, but that's getting harder to
- 47:38pull off. I tried looking for roommates, but no almots
- 47:41to share a small house with this stupid pandemic around.
- 47:45And my search for a boyfriend is just fruitless. I'm
- 47:49getting a bit old for the dating scene. We'll keep
- 47:53at it, but for the looks of things, everyone's mostly
- 47:56down to fucking not much else. I don't want to
- 48:00sort of frequent one night stands. The police still answer
- 48:03my calls, thankfully, but they're not doing much. Even the
- 48:08patrols are getting less and less frequent. I'm at a
- 48:11total loss here. I've considered selling the house and moving,
- 48:14but I can't afford that. Dad might be my last resort. Ah,
- 48:19Dad might be my last resort. Maybe I can move
- 48:22in with him and his wife and son. Weren't exactly
- 48:26friends though, who knows, and I can't risk telling them.
- 48:30There's no chance in hell they'll take me if they
- 48:32think I'm crazy.
- 48:33Speaker 1: Sorry, I want I did that because your your theory
- 48:36right there. I was like, maybe I can move in
- 48:38with Dad. Dude, it's set. I'd setting something up.
- 48:41Speaker 3: I don't know, right, we'll see, we'll see.
- 48:44Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 48:45Speaker 3: Also, I know, I know it's kind of this is
- 48:47kind of a lame criticism for horror stories, I understand.
- 48:50But at the same time, leave just you're in the house.
- 48:55The house is weird. Don't be in the house.
- 48:57Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I mean I was gonna wait until we
- 49:01got done with our first joh.
- 49:02Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, you're right, you're right.
- 49:03Speaker 1: Yeah, I was just I do have some criticism so far.
- 49:06Speaker 3: Well Okay, although yeah, you're right, it can wait, we'll
- 49:09continue with the story. Hearing that, hearing her opinion of
- 49:14me and Mom, it's done. Sure we weren't more than acquaintances,
- 49:19but we're not horrible people. We would have taken Sarah,
- 49:22and if she reached out to us so to know
- 49:24that her salvation was so close, Kevin bay only by
- 49:28superficial assessments about it. It sucked, plain and simple, And
- 49:33if she would have showed us the recordings, we might
- 49:35have even believed her, Especially.
- 49:38Speaker 1: Dad, play the next one.
- 49:41Speaker 3: I demanded, before Marcus had a chance to say anything.
- 49:45Speaker 2: You sure, you sound a bit riled up. Maybe play it.
- 49:50Speaker 3: Marcus sighed deeply, but he did as he was told.
- 49:54According twelve, it's still here.
- 49:58Speaker 6: You won't go the fuck away. I haven't talked to
- 50:02it almost a month now, but it's still here. It's
- 50:05going to drive me insane, for real. I can't take
- 50:08it anymore. Look in front of it again tonight. Maybe I
- 50:12can find out what the fuck it wants or get
- 50:15some answers.
- 50:17Speaker 3: Recording thirteen. The recording starts and is quiet save for
- 50:21static for a few moments. Sarah takes a deep breath
- 50:25and a barely audible step.
- 50:29Speaker 5: Are you there?
- 50:31Speaker 3: Skiddy returns, coming closer to the microphone than ever before.
- 50:35It sounds more frantic than usual.
- 50:37Speaker 6: Of course, my dear, I'm always here. You stop that,
- 50:43you hear me stop using her voice, Sarah, I said, stop,
- 50:50I know you're not her.
- 50:52Speaker 3: The voice coughs loudly. It changes as it does, slowly,
- 50:56morphing and growing deeper. When it stops, it sounds male. Sarah, Honey,
- 51:08I paused hearing that it was Dad's voice, no doubt
- 51:12about it. Although it sounded ever so slightly off, I
- 51:16could recognize it. Up to that point. My running theory
- 51:20was that the thing could mimic the dead, but Dad
- 51:23is still very much alive, so that through my theory.
- 51:25Under the bus, I didn't know what to believe anymore.
- 51:31Speaker 5: What do you want? I just wanted to see.
- 51:34Speaker 1: You open the door?
- 51:38Speaker 3: Sarah backs away as her breathing grows faster.
- 51:42Speaker 5: Please, Honey, it's dark down here.
- 51:47Speaker 3: Just shut up. Sarah runs away from the door as
- 51:51the voice calls continue in the background. That was your father, correct,
- 51:56Marcus asked when the recording ended.
- 52:00Speaker 2: A yeah, And what does that tell us?
- 52:06Speaker 3: I pondered the question for a moment.
- 52:09Speaker 1: It's not a skin walker like I thought at first,
- 52:13I don't know much about them, but like skin walkers
- 52:16need to kill their victims to copy.
- 52:18Speaker 2: Them, right, m hmm, not necessarily? Wait why I knew it?
- 52:24I knew it. I knew it.
- 52:25Speaker 3: Marcus is some kind of paranormal.
- 52:27Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, okay, not necessarily, but they do
- 52:32need to hear the voice they're trying to copy. And anyways,
- 52:35his skin walker could have broken.
- 52:37Speaker 1: Down the door, so it's something else, but what I'm
- 52:43not sure yet.
- 52:45Speaker 3: He went to play the next recording, but I stopped him.
- 52:49Speaker 1: Where do you know so much about skin walker's from?
- 52:57Speaker 3: Or are or are or?
- 53:00Speaker 2: Marcus chuckled dryly. All in due time, Clancy, we still
- 53:06have a few recordings to go through, you know what.
- 53:09Speaker 1: He hit play on the next recording, so we listened.
- 53:12So I'm really not liking this thing where it's.
- 53:14Speaker 2: Like, why did you just not tell him? Why would that?
- 53:18Speaker 1: Like, I know it's probably something where it's like, oh,
- 53:19if he tells him, it might jeopardize him for wanting
- 53:21to listen on, But still, is that.
- 53:23Speaker 2: Not just annoying? All in due time?
- 53:26Speaker 1: It's like, dude, just fucking tell him why you know
- 53:27so much about skinwalkers.
- 53:30Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 53:31Speaker 3: Also like okay, so Marcus like shows up and he's like,
- 53:37you know, Joey badass, right, like he knows all the stuff,
- 53:42and he was kind of presenting himself as a cop
- 53:44so he could get alone with Clancy. But I know
- 53:47Clancy's a kid, but there's still no level of clancy,
- 53:49Like there's the whole wait, where do you know about
- 53:51skin walkers or whatever? But I mean like, even when
- 53:56I was a kid jumping to supernatural conclusions, if an
- 53:59adult went along with me, I'd be like, yeah.
- 54:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I'd be like, I'd be like, what the fuck really.
- 54:04Speaker 3: I'm talking about a movie I watched the other night.
- 54:07Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm Marcus. I'm Marcus, and I guess it is
- 54:10a ghost. Yes, Clancy, I'd.
- 54:12Speaker 1: Be like, you seem like a very irresponsible.
- 54:16Speaker 3: I should have a parent right now, where's my.
- 54:20Speaker 2: Dad at he's a werewolf?
- 54:25Speaker 3: I should call the police. The police are zombies or something.
- 54:29Speaker 2: They're all plant people.
- 54:31Speaker 3: They're all plan people. It's just me and you child.
- 54:34Speaker 2: Me New Clancy against the world.
- 54:38Speaker 3: Now do you want me to show you where vampires
- 54:41come from?
- 54:44Speaker 5: Uh?
- 54:46Speaker 2: Now? All right, then I guess I'll play the next record.
- 54:53Speaker 1: Like Ic is like, you mean Transylvania.
- 54:56Speaker 2: Marcus Lane's forward, He's like, how did you know?
- 55:04Speaker 3: Where did you find out about? The hell?
- 55:10Speaker 2: Told you?
- 55:13Speaker 3: Glass? Like this is just like Hogwarts. Marcus is like,
- 55:16dear God, good good, You're not a wizard? Like what
- 55:27Marcus is just an equally delusional old man who like
- 55:30also thinks media is real. We're gonna need to call
- 55:34Nick Fury on this one.
- 55:35Speaker 1: Like He's just we are we are coming to the
- 55:39conclusion though, like just to get back. We are coming
- 55:41to the conclusion though, that we think Marcus is not
- 55:43a cop, right, Yeah, clearly it's becoming he is.
- 55:47Speaker 3: Then he has a he like Moonlights as a paranormal investigator.
- 55:52But no, I don't think he's a cop. Okay, all right,
- 55:56Recording fourteen.
- 55:57Speaker 6: It's not just mom and dad anymore. The damn thing
- 56:00has so many voices now, Amy, my ex boyfriend Clinton,
- 56:05random voices I can't place.
- 56:06Speaker 5: Hell, it even used the voices of those.
- 56:09Speaker 6: Two police officers that went down in the basement.
- 56:11Speaker 5: Looking for it.
- 56:11Speaker 6: It keeps calling for me, pleading and begging, faying confusion,
- 56:19asking to be let out. But I won't do it.
- 56:22I won't open that damn door ever again. Fuck whatever
- 56:26I keep down there, it can have my stuff for
- 56:28all I care. I'm tired. I can't sleep because of it.
- 56:34It's getting so hard to do anything.
- 56:36Speaker 5: I swear.
- 56:37Speaker 6: Today almost got fired for mixing. For mixing up customers
- 56:40orders for the twentieth time. I nearly snapped at the manager,
- 56:44but I stopped at the last second, and I apologized.
- 56:47Some coworkers notice that I'm acting off and asked me
- 56:50about it, but I can't tell them to think I'm crazy. Hell,
- 56:55I'm starting to think I might be crazy myself.
- 56:57Speaker 1: I would just tell somebody I feel like if it
- 56:59was like I fel like if it was messing you
- 57:01up that bad. I also, I know that this is
- 57:03a two years ago, so this.
- 57:05Speaker 2: Is a covid rite as well.
- 57:06Speaker 3: So yeah, pandemic like took me out. I was like, whoa, Okay,
- 57:13I was like.
- 57:13Speaker 2: Holy shit.
- 57:13Speaker 1: Yeah, So it would be it would be a bit
- 57:16difficult to be like, hey, can I crash at your
- 57:17place because people would be like like, no, I don't,
- 57:20and I don't. I don't want to be mixing you know,
- 57:23germs or anything like that. I could see that, but
- 57:26still it's you know, also this is the second time.
- 57:30Speaker 7: Wait.
- 57:30Speaker 3: Wait, she's working at a restaurant.
- 57:33Speaker 2: Yeah, mixing up customers orders for the twenty times, which.
- 57:36Speaker 3: Could be super COVID. It's not like the peak of it, right.
- 57:40Speaker 2: Yeah, well I guess that's true.
- 57:42Speaker 3: Maybe, well, there were some places that did like drive
- 57:45through and stuff like that, so maybe that's what.
- 57:47Speaker 2: Who knows.
- 57:47Speaker 3: I'm probably leaning too hard. We'll say, we'll save it
- 57:51for the end of the part. At least, I was
- 57:53just saying. It is literally part one of four, so
- 57:55we're well, we'll see, Okay, Yeah, we're taking up too
- 57:59much time in front of the three are only three
- 58:02characters so far, and before counting the dad's voice at
- 58:05the beginning recording fifteen Sis, that's as far as I
- 58:11got into that particular recording. I slapped my hand over
- 58:15the phone with enough force to send cracks into the
- 58:17glass surface at the table. Marcus jumped back in his chair,
- 58:20taken by surprise.
- 58:22Speaker 1: What what the what the hell?
- 58:24Speaker 2: That's my fucking voice. I knew this one would get you.
- 58:32Speaker 1: Come on, dude, come on, Marcus answered, without half bred.
- 58:39Speaker 2: I knew this one would get to you.
- 58:40Speaker 3: It's like I imagine if I had like all of
- 58:43the Poe screen goblin like, yes, your hatred.
- 58:49Speaker 2: I knew this one would get to you.
- 58:53Speaker 3: Only fools are heroes, Clancy.
- 59:00Speaker 2: I knew this one would get to you.
- 59:02Speaker 1: Marcus answered with half with a half grin, or.
- 59:06Speaker 2: Will get to you more than the others.
- 59:16Speaker 1: I just don't know why he's being so coy. He's
- 59:19being so.
- 59:20Speaker 3: Coy in spite of everything you've done for her. Eventually
- 59:24she will hate you.
- 59:25Speaker 1: Eventually she will hate you, Clancy.
- 59:29Speaker 3: In this world it's dripp or drowned spider man. Oh god, Okay.
- 59:41Speaker 1: I have to keep the faith I have.
- 59:43Speaker 3: Yeah, it hasn't lost me. It hasn't lost me. I
- 59:46just think Marcus's characterization is a bit cartooning, is.
- 59:49Speaker 1: All it is. It is well even with Clancy, a
- 59:52bit too, But.
- 59:55Speaker 3: Clancy's a child, so he gets some bonus points for
- 59:57me at this point.
- 59:58Speaker 1: On Dude, I'm wiping myself. I'm I'm going in with
- 1:00:01full love here.
- 1:00:02Speaker 5: Okay.
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: I never visited Sarah here. It couldn't have. It couldn't
- 1:00:07have heard my voice, So how the fuck did it
- 1:00:09copy me?
- 1:00:10Speaker 3: Think?
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: Clancy, did you ever hear Sarah's dead mother?
- 1:00:14Speaker 5: For?
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: How long has she been dead?
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: Twenty years.
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: So what does that tell you?
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: It doesn't need to hear people's voices, correct, So what
- 1:00:29it can read minds?
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: Maybe at the very least it can form a connection
- 1:00:35with people. But until we catch it and see for ourselves,
- 1:00:39I can't say for Sudan.
- 1:00:42Speaker 5: Catch it.
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: Is that what this is all about? You want to
- 1:00:47catch it?
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: Marcus wiped his smark off his face and looked at
- 1:00:52me intently.
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: Yes, Clancy, either catch it or kill it, and soul
- 1:01:00of your sister's case. So what so what are you?
- 1:01:07Speaker 3: Marcus didn't let me finish. He pushed my hands away
- 1:01:11from the phone screen and hit play on the recording,
- 1:01:13interrupting me.
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: I'm sorry in two times.
- 1:01:25Speaker 3: Recording. Come on, dude, I was laughing, but he's like,
- 1:01:29so what are you like? I'm like, he's got like
- 1:01:33a duster on that's like flowing.
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: In the way. I'm a motherfucking angel.
- 1:01:42Speaker 3: Exactly. That's exactly what I am. He who walks between
- 1:01:48the here and the there. I am like like two thousands,
- 1:01:54two thousands FX like action movie dialogue, you know, like
- 1:02:00hell Boy.
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: Yeah, oh god, all in due time, he repeated once
- 1:02:09more sor right, So we're getting back into the recording. Now, yes, okay,
- 1:02:13presumably the this is Clancy's voice talking in the recording.
- 1:02:18Speaker 5: Sis, are you there?
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: It repeats my own voice. It's been sometimes since Aara's
- 1:02:24first recording of the mysterious voice, and it sounds thoroughly
- 1:02:28human at this point, no more cracks and its facade
- 1:02:31can be gleamed.
- 1:02:33Speaker 6: Listen to me and listen. Well, I won't put up
- 1:02:37with this anymore. You have tonight to leave my house
- 1:02:40and leave me the fuck alone. I'll go to bed,
- 1:02:44I'll plug in some earphones, and I'll ignore you. If
- 1:02:47I hear you again tomorrow night, you can bet your
- 1:02:49Assh'll come down here and int you whoever?
- 1:02:52Speaker 5: Whatever you are? Understood?
- 1:02:56Speaker 3: She sounds different, somehow, worried, tired, manic.
- 1:03:04Speaker 6: Plea Sis, for fuck's sake, open the door and let
- 1:03:07me out? And why would I do that? How'd you
- 1:03:10get down there?
- 1:03:11Speaker 5: Anyway?
- 1:03:13Speaker 6: I fuck, I don't know, I can't remember, but it's
- 1:03:18scary down here. Let me out, please?
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: It copies your mannerisms. Well, it's spot on, actually it does.
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: I admitted feeling the color in my face draining little
- 1:03:32my I'm sorry, I'm sorry. No no, no, no, no no no,
- 1:03:36it's it's just in that like.
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: The Marcus character's so fuck have you ever.
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: Seen uh the Fourth Alien movie? Now, huh Okay, there's
- 1:03:49a character in it who brought the aliens back to life,
- 1:03:52who like is like fetishistically obsessed with them. He's like,
- 1:03:55look at the beautiful babies. They're so like that that
- 1:03:59whole character, And like Marcus struck me as that just
- 1:04:02then when he's like, it copies your mannerisms, Well, it's
- 1:04:06spot on actually, Like he's getting like flustered talking about it.
- 1:04:09Speaker 1: Well, like I keep going back and forth between it's
- 1:04:11like very in my mind's eye when I see Marcus
- 1:04:15saying the stuff and stopping it with like a cigarette
- 1:04:17in his mouth, and the light on them makes me
- 1:04:19think of like a really cheesy noir like detective kind
- 1:04:22of thing, Like it copies.
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: Your mannerisms, will, it's spot on actually.
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: And it's like these people are just kind of sitting
- 1:04:29in the circle, but it's just like all these interruptions
- 1:04:32and him being just so.
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: Kind of like I guess, just cartoony and just.
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: Not blatantly saying like hey, this is what I think
- 1:04:40it is.
- 1:04:40Speaker 2: I think we should do this.
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: I almost wish it was that, and then maybe even
- 1:04:43Clancy could be like, you're a psycho.
- 1:04:45Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, you know what I mean.
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: But the kid, yeah yeah, yeah.
- 1:04:51Speaker 3: Yeah, you know what. Let's let's lean into it a bit. Well,
- 1:04:55it's it's striking like Saturday morning cereal, you know stuff.
- 1:05:00So let's see it. You can do interesting horror things
- 1:05:03with that. Most of the schlocky horror films from the
- 1:05:05eighties I love so much are in that tone, right,
- 1:05:07So so let's see. Let's see how it goes with that.
- 1:05:11With that in mind, I'm imagining him in the duster
- 1:05:13in the Fedora and he won't come out of it,
- 1:05:15So we'll see how that goes.
- 1:05:18Speaker 2: Okay, all right, so I'll just proceed with the it does.
- 1:05:22Speaker 3: I admitted feeling the color in my face draining little
- 1:05:24by little as I listened.
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: Given enough time to learn that thing could be a
- 1:05:29top predator.
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: And let me guess, you can't let that happen.
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: Oh my god, yes, yes.
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: I did. This is this is bordering on like do
- 1:05:57we even do we?
- 1:05:59Speaker 2: Like we?
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: I'm down to read the until the end of part one,
- 1:06:02but this is getting unbold. This is tragic. Out of
- 1:06:06all the things you've read so far this is come on.
- 1:06:10Speaker 3: And we can't let that happen.
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: And let me guess you can't let that happen. Oh,
- 1:06:19oh my god, we can't let that happen. All in
- 1:06:28due time, I replied, and pushed play on the recording.
- 1:06:32Speaker 3: What is this?
- 1:06:34Speaker 7: What is this?
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: Oh, if this isn't to those listening, if this doesn't like,
- 1:06:47if you don't realize why this is so funny. The
- 1:06:49dialogue goes, it is a kid who just met this
- 1:06:52man who keeps saying stuff like it's a predator, one
- 1:06:55that can't be stopped, one too powerful, and it could
- 1:07:00be a top predator. And the kid goes and let
- 1:07:02me guess, you can't let that happen. And then the
- 1:07:06guy goes, we can't let that. That gets the most.
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: Like, but you see here clancy is taking control and
- 1:07:14he says, all in due time, no's mimicking market. The kid,
- 1:07:19the kid who just found out that his sister's a
- 1:07:23full detective, a full grown X Files detective. Man is
- 1:07:28having this kind of camaraderie with what we assume to
- 1:07:30be a fifteen or sixteen year old child all in
- 1:07:34do time, and he's.
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: Like, huh, that's right, Clancy.
- 1:07:36Speaker 3: Yeah, the kid after hearing all this, hearing that his
- 1:07:39sister burna death a few days ago, was killed by
- 1:07:42a skim walker, the Kid's like, all in due time, god, bro,
- 1:07:48it's it's the most like Disney dialogue. Like, okay, in
- 1:07:54a minute, in a minute, there's gonna be like a
- 1:07:56thumping in the closet, and then Marcus is gonna go,
- 1:07:59Clan see, you're gonna want to see.
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: This, Clancy. It's right behind me.
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: And you know what, you know what like yeah, yeah,
- 1:08:15dialogue dialogue, very funny. I'm glad this is better to
- 1:08:18me than boring dialogue. I'll say that, yeah, because it's
- 1:08:23certainly memorable. But I still like the monster concept so far.
- 1:08:27It's just the dialogue.
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: I just want to get to this first part.
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: We'll get okay, we'll keep we'll keep going.
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: I am and I'm almost I am almost in the
- 1:08:36fourth layer of hell.
- 1:08:37Speaker 3: I need all right, so, Clans, I'm having a great time.
- 1:08:40This is awesome. So so Clancy pushes play on the
- 1:08:45recording and it goes. Sarah doesn't say anything else. Her
- 1:08:50footsteps carry her away from the basement tour, and the
- 1:08:53voice pleads in the background It shifts back and forth
- 1:08:56between different people quick and almost seamless. Short periods of
- 1:09:00time between the adjustments, glimpses of the animalistic nature make
- 1:09:04it through. The recording ends after Sarah closes the door
- 1:09:08to her bedroom.
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: You know, and this is and then before we get
- 1:09:13into recording sixteen, I just want to say, because of
- 1:09:15how much of a sour tastes in my mouth right now,
- 1:09:16I'm now picturing Sarah's just like breathing heavily, and we're
- 1:09:19just hearing footsteps, like that's all we're hearing in the recording.
- 1:09:21Speaker 2: We're just hearing like.
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: I'm just like like patting around, and then she shuts
- 1:09:26the door, Like I just it's becoming even more comical
- 1:09:29in my head where they're like sitting around inquisitively looking
- 1:09:31at this like this phone, and it's just like hearing
- 1:09:34someone like like breathing heavily and walking around and.
- 1:09:38Speaker 2: They're just like, no, seriously, clancy listening to this part.
- 1:09:41It's crazy.
- 1:09:43Speaker 3: I will I will say I will say that one
- 1:09:45criticism I had is that Sarah goes from trying to
- 1:09:48find a way out of it to being like, if
- 1:09:50you're not gone tomorrow, I'm gonna come down there, Like what,
- 1:09:53like what what does she think she's gonna do?
- 1:09:56Speaker 2: You know, I don't know.
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: I mean she's gone down there with cops and everything
- 1:10:00else and it's not there.
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: I mean, so she's gonna go down there and just
- 1:10:03leave bad go camping. I know it's COVID lockdown, go
- 1:10:08said in the woods like it's a better Yeah.
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: Like literally, I feel like in any other person, I
- 1:10:12feel like a lot of people just be like, I'm
- 1:10:13just gonna be in my car. I'm just gonna if
- 1:10:15I have nowhere to go, I will literally just sleep
- 1:10:17in my car.
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: She has her mom, and she's like who has his
- 1:10:20wife and brother? Who? Like she's like on talking term.
- 1:10:23Sure she doesn't love them, I get it, but she
- 1:10:25thinks there's a thing in her basement that sounds like
- 1:10:28her dead mom. Like that will the gates and family,
- 1:10:32you know, discomfort?
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: I would, I would go through. I would go through
- 1:10:35the awkward interaction if I thought something was this tragic,
- 1:10:38and I would be like Also, I hate that she
- 1:10:39keeps saying like, well, they're gonna think I'm crazy. Didn't
- 1:10:43let them think that?
- 1:10:44Speaker 3: Who can try to let them think that you're having
- 1:10:47a psychotic breakdown and the twenty four to seven surveillance, right.
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: Who the hell even I'm starting to think I'm pretty crazy.
- 1:10:55Howbout you say that seven more times, Sarah?
- 1:10:57Speaker 2: That sounds great.
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: It's the only thing, the only thing that is getting
- 1:11:03me through this first part, where there is three more
- 1:11:06parts after this, dude, is that Sarah is going to
- 1:11:08be engulfed in flames at one second. That's the only
- 1:11:11thing pushing me forward.
- 1:11:12Speaker 3: It doesn't before catching on fire.
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: You're right, we know that for sure. So I just
- 1:11:17want to see, all right, recording sixteen.
- 1:11:18Speaker 3: You know what's gonna happen. You already know what's gonna happen.
- 1:11:21If it stays this tone, the comments, they're gonna need
- 1:11:26a part two. I think you're stuck. I can't think.
- 1:11:31Speaker 1: Recording sixteen is what I will say. Recording sixteen.
- 1:11:35Speaker 6: Okay, So I can't get a firearm. They don't have
- 1:11:38the money for that. I don't even know how to
- 1:11:41handle one anyway. And fuck me, gasoline's getting pretty expensive too.
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: Oh my god, god, I'm sorry that just a line
- 1:11:51is insane.
- 1:11:53Speaker 11: And fuck me, gasoly is getting pretty expensive too. Canister's
- 1:11:57worth of a few gallons in a box of the
- 1:12:01current plan is simple. I'll fuck that thing up if
- 1:12:04I if I hear.
- 1:12:05Speaker 5: It again tonight.
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: Also, just the amount of use of fuck is just
- 1:12:10really annoying too.
- 1:12:11Speaker 7: But my god, Sarah, give me a second, Give me
- 1:12:18a second, bro, I've never you get in heat.
- 1:12:25Speaker 3: It it's so funny for one but her. Okay, the
- 1:12:29the gas line was so funny for one like I
- 1:12:33can't afford I. I want to go get a firearm,
- 1:12:37and I don't have the five hundred dollars needed to
- 1:12:39buy one, sure or whatever. I also can't go buy
- 1:12:42a gallon of gas.
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: It's three dollars.
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: It's three dollars out of your car that you drive
- 1:12:51to work in.
- 1:12:52Speaker 2: My gosh, go to.
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: Your kitchen, get any amount of the chemicals you use
- 1:12:57to clean stuff or do whatever. Throw that down there
- 1:12:59that's flammable. Do what I mean, like, go to the store,
- 1:13:03you know, I mean, like you don't have to just
- 1:13:05use gasoline. I mean, I don't know.
- 1:13:06Speaker 2: It's just so stupid.
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: I cannot wait. I cannot wait to where she's like,
- 1:13:12she she pours her She's like, how I'm gonna kill
- 1:13:15this monster? You're asking, Well, that's simple. I'm going to
- 1:13:18douse myself in chemicals and light myself on fire and
- 1:13:21tackle it. You're like, why would you do that?
- 1:13:28Speaker 3: Well, that's simple. It's like it's a TikTok to you.
- 1:13:34Why she literally begins.
- 1:13:36Speaker 1: Her last thing she said with the current plan is simple.
- 1:13:43I just like I just like, uh, it's like so
- 1:13:46long that dies here? And then even even Clancy's like,
- 1:13:50my god, Sarah, like I mumbled as the recording ended,
- 1:13:55and like, Okay.
- 1:13:56Speaker 3: I'll say I'll say this, this story needed a rewrite
- 1:14:05with the dialogue. I think I still like the premise
- 1:14:08of like a girl dies unexpectedly and her brother goes
- 1:14:10through the recordings with the cop.
- 1:14:12Speaker 1: Let's talk about this when yeah, okay part one, Part one,
- 1:14:15Part one, okay, yeah, yeah right.
- 1:14:16Speaker 3: You're right, okay. Hearing her in that state of mind
- 1:14:20broke my heart. No one deserves to go through what
- 1:14:23she did. And the fact that we didn't help her sooner,
- 1:14:25that none of us made an effort to be in
- 1:14:27her life, it ate me up inside. We could have
- 1:14:31made a difference. I could have made a difference. Maybe
- 1:14:34then this tragedy would have had a better ending.
- 1:14:37Speaker 2: There's only one more to go, Thank God.
- 1:14:40Speaker 3: He leaned over the table and slapped a hand down
- 1:14:42on my shoulder, giving me a tight squeeze. I nod
- 1:14:47in my head as I felt tears for me at
- 1:14:49the corner of my eyes and signaled for him to
- 1:14:51play it.
- 1:14:53Speaker 1: What I mean, like is it?
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: Why is he?
- 1:14:54Speaker 3: What are they suddenly like a father figure? What was that? Well?
- 1:14:58Speaker 1: The weird but like also why is he crying? Like
- 1:15:02I understand that this is like I didn't.
- 1:15:04Speaker 3: Emotional, but thirty seconds ago he went all in due time,
- 1:15:08like it's.
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: Well, they're just like so what and you can't let
- 1:15:11that happen. Well, it's just also it's like you don't
- 1:15:13know her that well. And these are also only audio
- 1:15:16recordings and I'm sure that like it's still an emotional thing.
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: But he was to all of the tapes that'd be fine.
- 1:15:24It makes sense after the whole like we've got to
- 1:15:27stop it.
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: And then it's sixteen recordings and this is the first
- 1:15:30time where he's like, oh shit, it really hit me
- 1:15:33in the fields, Marcus.
- 1:15:35Speaker 3: He didn't like how much he said the F word.
- 1:15:37Also when you were doing that, when you kept dropping
- 1:15:39like F bombs through that, I in my head, Sarah
- 1:15:42became Joe Paschi from Good Fellas.
- 1:15:45Speaker 1: Yeah, we're gonna have to fucking kill it.
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: That's exactly somebody you want me to do.
- 1:15:53Speaker 6: You want me to like the fucking hands on fire.
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: You still be fucking funny, funny out God.
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: Here we go, record seventeen and the first line is
- 1:16:01this the fuckers still here?
- 1:16:06Speaker 3: Yes, okay, I'm excited. I'm excited to keep knowing. This
- 1:16:10is great. This is like football.
- 1:16:12Speaker 8: Go.
- 1:16:13Speaker 6: The fucker is still here.
- 1:16:16Speaker 5: I warned it. I tried to be nice. I really did.
- 1:16:20What more could anyone ask me?
- 1:16:22Speaker 3: A liquid slashes around in the background, presumably gastly. Her
- 1:16:27breathing is strained close to the microphone. Metal rings out
- 1:16:32as it hits the floor. Sarah, it calls out in
- 1:16:36the voice of her mother.
- 1:16:38Speaker 5: I warned you.
- 1:16:40Speaker 3: Something topples to the floor and the sound of Russian
- 1:16:42liquid is heard.
- 1:16:44Speaker 5: This is on you.
- 1:16:45Speaker 6: It's not my fault, Sarah.
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: Please.
- 1:16:49Speaker 3: The voice shall is more desperate than ever.
- 1:16:51Speaker 5: What are you doing? What I said I would? You
- 1:16:55didn't listen.
- 1:16:56Speaker 6: Why didn't you listen?
- 1:16:57Speaker 5: Please, Sarah, you don't have to do this.
- 1:17:00Speaker 6: Slip me out, please enough, stop using her fucking foe.
- 1:17:06Speaker 3: The thing falls silent. Sarah takes a deep breath, and
- 1:17:09the sound of gasoline pouring out of the canister dies
- 1:17:11down as it presumably runs out. Her clothes rustle as
- 1:17:15she searches her pockets, and she shakes the match box
- 1:17:18when she finds it. The sound of the matches jumping
- 1:17:20around inside. It's the only audible thing for a moment.
- 1:17:25Speaker 5: You know what, You know what that is, don't you.
- 1:17:28Speaker 3: She opens the box and fumbles around with the matches
- 1:17:30for a moment. The voice doesn't answer her, but instead
- 1:17:33skitters away from the door. Frantically, Sarah takes one final breath,
- 1:17:37and the sound of a match being struck as heard
- 1:17:39loud and clear.
- 1:17:41Speaker 6: Oh my god, get fucked.
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: I'm in hell.
- 1:17:52Speaker 1: Imagine also imagine here's the thing too, dude, here's the thing.
- 1:17:57And I really want you to take this into consideration.
- 1:17:59They are not seeing any of this. They are hearing
- 1:18:03this on a recorder on a phone.
- 1:18:06Speaker 6: So you just you, like, get fucked.
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: You know, it's sad that that line actually worked a
- 1:18:19little bit. I was like, oh, that's good. When she
- 1:18:21says stop using her voice like that feels there's like
- 1:18:25a reckoning for that, almost kind of like if Sarah
- 1:18:31hadn't showed any like badassery in the story story up
- 1:18:34until then, and then that was her first like resistance
- 1:18:36to it. It's so desperate, it's against her mother. Like that,
- 1:18:38that works. But then two lines later they had to
- 1:18:42go back to her holding the match, like you you
- 1:18:46called down the thunder, Well, now you got.
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: It, you know, Like yeah, I dude, I I don't know.
- 1:18:54I mean it started with I mean, we'll keep going,
- 1:18:57keep going, just part part end of part one at least,
- 1:18:59and then we can talk about more.
- 1:19:00Speaker 3: Yeaheah, okay, yeah yeah. The microphone doesn't pick up the
- 1:19:03lit match hitting the ground, but it picks up the gasoline,
- 1:19:05igniting air rushes in. As the flames begin to burn
- 1:19:09and Sarah lets out a yelp, the voice begins to
- 1:19:12scream loudly, rapidly, switching back and forth, let's out one
- 1:19:17final call for the first time using Sarah's voice. The
- 1:19:22recording ended, leaving me wrapped up in a whirlwind of emotions.
- 1:19:26I was horrified. I was stupefied. I was strangely glad
- 1:19:29for it to finally be over. I was a mess,
- 1:19:33to put it bluntly, my body felt like it melted
- 1:19:36into the seat, but I quickly composed myself when I
- 1:19:38remembered that Marcus still had some questions to answer.
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: Did Sarah kill it? Did we bury a monster instead
- 1:19:46of her?
- 1:19:48Speaker 2: I don't know. We could very well be the case,
- 1:19:51but then then where is she exactly? Plus a lot
- 1:19:56of other things don't line up? But to be fair,
- 1:20:00they didn't line up no matter which angle I went
- 1:20:02at it. From.
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: All that we know for certain right now is that
- 1:20:06someone died on a fire. So monster hunter.
- 1:20:10Speaker 12: Hunh Yes they did?
- 1:20:38Speaker 3: They did the whole What are we some kind of suicide?
- 1:20:42Speaker 5: What they did?
- 1:20:43Speaker 9: I thought they did?
- 1:20:46Speaker 5: What else?
- 1:20:46Speaker 3: Some you some kind of monster hunter? Yes? Oh god,
- 1:20:54this is the great. This is the my favorite thing
- 1:20:56we've read on creep casts. This is about this black
- 1:21:00out of the water. This is so good. I can't
- 1:21:05Oh my gosh, oh god, I'm I'm.
- 1:21:09Speaker 1: Oh my god. Wait wait wait wait, look, I asked,
- 1:21:11after a few moments of heavy silence.
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: Pretty much, Marcus answers, I'm the only one they call when.
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: Ship gets spooky, and let me tell you, this ship
- 1:21:24is very fucking spooky.
- 1:21:26Speaker 3: Hold on, let me get back in my chair, let
- 1:21:28me get.
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: Oh my god, dude, listen, pretty pretty much, Marcus answered,
- 1:21:34I'm the only one they call when shit gets spooky.
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: Let me tell you.
- 1:21:37Speaker 3: Wait wait wait wait wait wait wait wait, where are you.
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: At, dude?
- 1:21:42Speaker 3: I thought I thought you were joking. No, I wasn't
- 1:21:46looking at the screen. So when you said I'm the
- 1:21:49one they call when ship gets spooky, I thought you were.
- 1:21:52Speaker 1: Making that is a Legiti, this is this is quote?
- 1:21:56Pretty much, Marcus answered, I'm the only I'm the one
- 1:22:00they call when shit gets spooky. And let me tell
- 1:22:03you this, shit is very fucking spooky. Okay, but all
- 1:22:09of this still doesn't answer the most important thing. Why
- 1:22:12show me this any of this?
- 1:22:15Speaker 3: Okay, hold on, hold on, let's do this. Let's let's
- 1:22:17play a game. Okay, right now, we're taking it seriously,
- 1:22:21back to zero, right and let's just see if we
- 1:22:24can get to the end. Okay, okay without without you know,
- 1:22:31let's just see Okay, all right. So Marcus lit up
- 1:22:34another cigarette and leaned back in his chair. For the
- 1:22:37first time since he entered the house, he seemed truly comfortable,
- 1:22:40like he had nothing left to hide.
- 1:22:44Speaker 2: We're always on the lookout for new recruits. Oh god,
- 1:22:47so considered tonight your entry test.
- 1:22:51Speaker 1: You're a bit rough around the edges, but you seem
- 1:22:55like a decent candidate to me. Me, a monster hunter,
- 1:23:03you can't be serious.
- 1:23:07Speaker 3: Marcus just shrugged his shoulders.
- 1:23:11Speaker 2: You never know unless you try. I sure shit didn't
- 1:23:15never expected to hunt the things that go bumping the
- 1:23:18night before I tried.
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: And what if I were to refuse? Will he kill
- 1:23:24me or erase my memory or something?
- 1:23:28Speaker 3: At that, Marcus just laughed out loud.
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: If you don't want to, you don't want to, simple
- 1:23:38as you can try to tell anyone, But who's gonna
- 1:23:41believe you?
- 1:23:44Speaker 3: I frowned, and Marcus caught on that. He struck a nerve,
- 1:23:48so he composed himself, got up, taking the phone, stashing
- 1:23:52it in his pocket.
- 1:23:55Speaker 2: Look, kid, it's like I told you time and time
- 1:23:58again tonight. I can't force you to do anything, but
- 1:24:03consider it. Okay.
- 1:24:07Speaker 3: As he said that, no, no, don't make me read
- 1:24:11this next phrase. As he said that, he pulled out
- 1:24:15a bit.
- 1:24:17Speaker 10: Oh my god, he pulled out a business card for
- 1:24:25the monster Hunters.
- 1:24:28Speaker 3: Oh my god. Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, maybe
- 1:24:33maybe what's happened.
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: Just just get just get just let's.
- 1:24:36Speaker 3: Finish this, please God, it keeps going. Okay, we're almost there.
- 1:24:40We're almost there. He pulled out a business card that
- 1:24:45he tossed on the table in front of me.
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: The world, despline needs more people like us, if there
- 1:24:53were more of us to go around, and.
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: Maybe maybe what happened here wouldn't have been stu sooner.
- 1:25:02Speaker 3: Centensons.
- 1:25:04Speaker 2: Yeah, it might be too late for your sister, but
- 1:25:08you can make the difference for someone else if you
- 1:25:11can make up your mind. Doesn't matter if it's tomorrow
- 1:25:14or a year from now. Give me a call and
- 1:25:18take care.
- 1:25:20Speaker 3: With that. Marcus left. I saw him to the door
- 1:25:25and closed it behind him. Then I went to crash
- 1:25:28into my bed. My entire worldview shattered.
- 1:25:32Speaker 5: Tonight, I.
- 1:25:35Speaker 3: Decided to get some rest before I tried to make
- 1:25:39sense of the pieces. Following days were uneventful, but even so,
- 1:25:47the strain of that night hung over me, permeated my
- 1:25:51thoughts at all times, permanently active in the background as
- 1:25:55it burrowed deeper and deeper. Dad returned earned we finished
- 1:26:01clearing the house and.
- 1:26:03Speaker 1: Put it up for sale.
- 1:26:05Speaker 3: But I couldn't focus on that, not when every other
- 1:26:09thought I had was about those damn recordings. In the end,
- 1:26:16I had to stay over for a little while longer,
- 1:26:19despite my constant complaints because of the slummy neighborhood and
- 1:26:27sketchy neighbors. Dad didn't want the house to go unoccupied.
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: That's basically asking for thieves and punks to break in.
- 1:26:39And it's gonna be hard to sell it if squatters
- 1:26:41make the nest here. So just hang on for a
- 1:26:44little while longer, Okay.
- 1:26:47Speaker 3: I wanted to fight him on the matter, to tell
- 1:26:50him that he could stay over himself if he was
- 1:26:52that worried, but I didn't. I couldn't not when I
- 1:26:57knew the truth about what went down. He wouldn't be
- 1:27:01another death on my conscience. So I lived in a
- 1:27:05house for another week or so, helping out with renovations
- 1:27:08and whatnot, and truth and truth be told, it wasn't
- 1:27:16all that bad.
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: It was a bit creepy.
- 1:27:21Speaker 3: It was a bit creepy, sure, but the freedom.
- 1:27:25Speaker 10: Of living, sure, But the freedom of living on my
- 1:27:37own was.
- 1:27:40Speaker 3: Oddly pleasant. One evening, after he went home and I
- 1:27:47was left all alone, I heard a knock on the door.
- 1:27:54I slowly made my way over to answer, expecting either
- 1:28:01him or Marcus. But who I found on the other
- 1:28:07side left me terrified. It was Sarah.
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: Don don done. Hey, Clancy, she.
- 1:28:21Speaker 3: Greeted, sounding almost casual. What how, I let out in
- 1:28:29a meek voice as my tears started to flow.
- 1:28:32Speaker 6: I have a lot of explain to you, I know, but.
- 1:28:36Speaker 3: I didn't let her finish. I jumped her, latching my
- 1:28:40arms around her shoulders as I bawled my eyes out.
- 1:28:44She put her arms around me as well, and we
- 1:28:49hugged for minutes in the doorway as I cried what happened?
- 1:28:56Speaker 2: Where were you?
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: We were we buried you, we thought you were dead.
- 1:29:06Speaker 3: I'm sorry.
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: I had a lot happen and I had some problems.
- 1:29:13I ended up running away to a friend for a while.
- 1:29:15And it's a long story, okay and very crazy.
- 1:29:22Speaker 2: Tell me about it.
- 1:29:25Speaker 1: Call Dad and tell him to come over. He's no,
- 1:29:27You're okay asap. Actually it would be better if you
- 1:29:32for you to do it. I don't want to give
- 1:29:34him a heart attack.
- 1:29:36Speaker 2: Good point.
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: We kind of got rid of most of the furniture.
- 1:29:39But make yourself comfortable. I'll call him and join you.
- 1:29:44Speaker 3: Don't it take long, she said, and went inside to
- 1:29:49find somewhere to sit. I watched her walk down the
- 1:29:53corridor towards the kitchen, passing by the basement door. She
- 1:29:58looked at it for a long moment, and she continued
- 1:30:03on her way.
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: I pulled out my phone.
- 1:30:07Speaker 3: And Marcus's card, unsure about what to do. The thing's
- 1:30:13facade was good, damn near perfect, but as it spoke
- 1:30:20those last words in its voice cracked.
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: Just uh little dun dun dun. End of part one.
- 1:30:32And actually, wow, I can't believe we made it through
- 1:30:34all four parts of the Thing in the basement. It
- 1:30:37is getting better at mimicking people.
- 1:30:40Speaker 2: What a what a story?
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: Wow?
- 1:30:43Speaker 3: Wow?
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: Wow, I really I met a loss for words.
- 1:30:50Speaker 3: I really enjoyed all four parts of that that. I'm
- 1:30:53glad that we got through the whole story.
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: You know what, you know what, this first part took
- 1:30:58much longer than I expect. Then we're already at an
- 1:31:01hour and a half on the recording. I would be curious.
- 1:31:03We can ask the viewers and the listeners at home
- 1:31:07if they want us to continue this story. We still
- 1:31:11have three parts. If you do, if not for the
- 1:31:14love of God requests something that is of I mean, dude,
- 1:31:19if you would have told me it's insane. First off,
- 1:31:22this is such a deceptively this story is so deceptive.
- 1:31:26And also I want to say that this is a bummer.
- 1:31:28This is two stories in the row where it's like, ooh,
- 1:31:31really really great beginnings, right, and then it just completely
- 1:31:37devolves into whatever the fuck.
- 1:31:38Speaker 2: This is supposed to be.
- 1:31:40Speaker 1: If you told me that this was supposed to be
- 1:31:41about a monster hunter? Who is who is recruiting a
- 1:31:46I mean presumably a fourteen to sixteen year old guy,
- 1:31:49why this is leading me into Jeff the Killer Territories
- 1:31:53where it's definitely a teenage kid writing this right about
- 1:31:57how cool it would be to be a part of
- 1:31:58a monster hunting situation. And and the thing is crazy
- 1:32:02good premise, It could have been so good, but the inner,
- 1:32:07the interjections between Marcus and Clancy, the entire time completely
- 1:32:13it disrupts any win that was in the sales of
- 1:32:16being in the story. And it's it's a shame because
- 1:32:19it could have been so sick, but instead it goes
- 1:32:22into whatever the fuck territory. This is whatever fucking territory,
- 1:32:26this fucking story, fucking fuck fuck fuck to quote my
- 1:32:31to quote this great author.
- 1:32:34Speaker 3: So two things that I have two thoughts. Right, if
- 1:32:39we went into it under the uh, I guess you
- 1:32:44could say notion that what we were about to get
- 1:32:47into was supposed to be like an old like detective drama,
- 1:32:52right like you know you can hear jazz music, you know,
- 1:32:55you know the type thing, right, Like it's purposely over
- 1:32:57the top. I think it would have. The reason it's
- 1:33:00so funny to me is because it was so unexpected.
- 1:33:02That's the It's not it's not that the writing is
- 1:33:06like so horrifically awful that it's just hilarious. It's that
- 1:33:11it is, like I said, like Disney Dialogue and stuff
- 1:33:14like that, that came out of left field, right Like,
- 1:33:17it was the surprise nature of it. So if I
- 1:33:20went in expecting that, it wouldn't have been as funny.
- 1:33:23And also, I'm looking at the writer's stuff now, and
- 1:33:27it looks like he wrote He wrote the story a
- 1:33:29couple of years ago, and over time he's been writing
- 1:33:32more and more stories, and in a recent post he
- 1:33:34talked about how he's, you know, wanting to get better
- 1:33:37as a writer and stuff like that. So, like you said,
- 1:33:39this is almost definitely like a teenager or something like that,
- 1:33:41or just a new writer who's just you know, writing
- 1:33:44basically none, none of the laughing we've done is a
- 1:33:48criticism towards him. I you know, we're saying that he
- 1:33:51can't get better or anything like that. Of course that
- 1:33:53being said, Oh my gosh, just the the Monster Hunter line, the.
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: The unexpected, it was insane. It's insane that the thing
- 1:34:04too is like, dude, you can just make some shitty
- 1:34:07stuff and you can grow better. I mean, like the
- 1:34:08idea of this is just crazy. It's so unexpected.
- 1:34:13Speaker 3: You know what I'm gonna I'm going to throw a
- 1:34:15skeleton out there that I hope no one ever finds,
- 1:34:19but to prove for it is when I was in
- 1:34:22my freshman year of high school or sophomore year of
- 1:34:24high school, I swear I'm not kidding. I I wrote
- 1:34:28Doctor Who fan fiction, not not romantic fan fiction. It
- 1:34:34was like it was like, uh, head cannons about maybe
- 1:34:38this character went into this, maybe this adventure happened, right,
- 1:34:41it would be miles worse than what we're reading right now. Right,
- 1:34:46So everyone starts somewhere you know, nothing against them. If
- 1:34:50they're showing me their skeletons, I'll show you mine. But
- 1:34:52my gosh, was it funny the Monster Hunter line.
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: Man, I'm so good the the the turn. The turn
- 1:34:59was like that of It had as much grace and
- 1:35:02decorum as a car going eighty miles an hour and
- 1:35:05then taking a sharp left turn into a brick wall.
- 1:35:07I mean it was like it was so unexpected. It's
- 1:35:11so funny. But I think, like there's a lot of merit.
- 1:35:13I think that this will be very memorable and like,
- 1:35:15you know, here's the thing, dude, would you want to
- 1:35:18finish this?
- 1:35:19Speaker 3: Well, okay, so here's what it is. I was thinking
- 1:35:21about this as we were reading, and I'm like, man,
- 1:35:24our comments suggested this and I and after reading it,
- 1:35:28I think I know why they suggested it. I think
- 1:35:30they knew very well what our reaction would be, and
- 1:35:33they thought it would be funny. So there probably is
- 1:35:36an element of our audience who misses like what we
- 1:35:38did with the Jeff the Killer one, and they just
- 1:35:40want to see us hurt. They want to see us
- 1:35:43in pain, right, So maybe that's why.
- 1:35:48Speaker 1: But the problem either, the biggest concern I have is
- 1:35:52that if we do read this moving forward, we should
- 1:35:54try to read it respectfully. We should make sure the
- 1:35:58show it respect and well. Now, we know we're getting well, yeah,
- 1:36:02but does that also take out the fun? Well, see,
- 1:36:06no matter how much we know what we're getting into,
- 1:36:08if they say a line like so, what are you
- 1:36:11some kind of monster hunter, it's not gonna matter because
- 1:36:13we're gonna be out.
- 1:36:14Speaker 3: That's gonna take us out. That's gonna yeah, it's like
- 1:36:17a headshot, just boom boom dead.
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: I'm curious. I mean, we're we could we could try
- 1:36:23to push forward, or we can see what the comments say.
- 1:36:25Speaker 2: What do you think I.
- 1:36:26Speaker 3: Think we want to do? I think what we should do.
- 1:36:28It's an hour forty right, Part two looks the same length, okay, right.
- 1:36:33What we can do is we will throw part one
- 1:36:36out there. I'm sure someone will enjoy this, and if
- 1:36:39they're like, please, for the love of God to the
- 1:36:42other parts, will do the other parts. But I think
- 1:36:47I think what we got spreacause also, where do you
- 1:36:49pick up from there? Because it ends with like that
- 1:36:53ended the way most like short micro horror Creepypasta's in
- 1:36:57with like, yeah, the thing said it was my sister.
- 1:37:01I knew it wasn't because of its voice, right, Like
- 1:37:03how many creepypositas in that way? So I don't know
- 1:37:07where it goes from there.
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean i'd be I would be curious to see.
- 1:37:11I think that setting up the monster Hunter organization really
- 1:37:15left some doors open. So I'm guessing now that it's
- 1:37:18it's it's Clancy going to have to convince Marcus to
- 1:37:21come back, or maybe Clancy does end up joining the
- 1:37:23monster hunting thing, and then his first assignment is his
- 1:37:26now deceee skin walker sister and he has to like
- 1:37:31observe it and do whatever, and he has to go by,
- 1:37:34you know, the guidelines. There's probably some sorts. There's probably
- 1:37:36a set of rules that he has to follow and stuff,
- 1:37:40and you know, maybe he gets into some trouble himself,
- 1:37:43and he probably also finds some situations where maybe even
- 1:37:46Marcus you can't tell if Marcus is really who he
- 1:37:49is and all that kind of stuff, so, you know,
- 1:37:52or vice versa, Marcus is like I can't tell if
- 1:37:54this is you or not or whatever. So there's probably
- 1:37:57a lot of back and forth, you know, stuff like that,
- 1:38:00that kind of stuff.
- 1:38:01Speaker 2: I would I would assume.
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: Yeah, this is crazy, this is crazy. I've never been
- 1:38:06I've never been so stoked on this creepy environment thing
- 1:38:10at the beginning, like being so excited about being like.
- 1:38:13Speaker 3: That's why I found it funny, because I was locked
- 1:38:16into a horror story.
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: Well, dude, this is also why I love these creepy pastas.
- 1:38:21And the thing too, is like I have been so
- 1:38:23we ate, we ate way too good, you know, with
- 1:38:26Braska and then pin Pal and all that stuff, even
- 1:38:28left right game, and you're gonna you're probably you're gonna
- 1:38:30have to sift through the layers of these stories and
- 1:38:35stuff before you can get into these truly biblically epic
- 1:38:39awesome stories that you know or you're so fascinated by.
- 1:38:42But that's just that, you know, it's like horror movies.
- 1:38:44I mean, it's like there's some good horror movies and
- 1:38:46you have give it's it's a part of the hunt,
- 1:38:48you know.
- 1:38:48Speaker 3: And I like, to let me be clear, I enjoyed that.
- 1:38:52That was enjoyable. Yeah, I wonder reason that we're not
- 1:38:56getting into that, but I enjoyed it.
- 1:39:00Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:39:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that for part one. Thing, I don't
- 1:39:03know how much of an interest I have moving on
- 1:39:05to part two. If people are just absolutely enthralled by it,
- 1:39:10I'll consider it. But if people are also like, hey,
- 1:39:13you know, let's move on to a different thing. I
- 1:39:14wouldn't be opposed to that either, So you let us
- 1:39:16know down below, and once again too, guys, be sure
- 1:39:19to listen to us on Spotify and Apple podcast all
- 1:39:22those places and give us a nice rating.
- 1:39:24Speaker 2: It helps us out, and be sure.
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: To let us know like stories that you enjoy in
- 1:39:28the comments below. We do as you can see, we
- 1:39:30read them. We try to make sure and take suggestions
- 1:39:34from the community as well, so we appreciate it.
- 1:39:37Speaker 3: That was that was awesome. Again to the writer, that
- 1:39:41story was enjoyable. But I mean none of that as
- 1:39:44to say that you yourself are incompetent or whatever. Everyone grows,
- 1:39:47everyone to start somewhere. I'm glad that my first drafts
- 1:39:51of stuff isn't out there, you know, on the internet.
- 1:39:53But thank you for sharing with us. Thank you for
- 1:39:54the entertainment. I enjoyed it.
- 1:39:57Speaker 2: Yeah, dude, I.
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: Mean, dude, like there's fun if we laugh for doing it.
- 1:40:00Speaker 2: Thing it's it's there's absurdity to things.
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: I mean, like, I you know, I think that you
- 1:40:03can I think you can offer you can be disappointed
- 1:40:07or offer criticism with things and not just you know,
- 1:40:10be it's We're not like saying that this person will
- 1:40:12never you know, be able to do whatever I I
- 1:40:14I I've made plenty of things and still even to
- 1:40:17this day, I make absolute dog shit, you know. I
- 1:40:19look at the progress I've made within the time I've
- 1:40:22been on YouTube, and it's been uh, it's it's always
- 1:40:24cool to see. So, if anything, the only thing I
- 1:40:26would say with this story as well, is that, like,
- 1:40:28to put your stuff out there publicly to be ridiculed
- 1:40:31or to be loved, is the first step of truly
- 1:40:34becoming a better artist, to being a better creative.
- 1:40:37Speaker 2: You have to do it.
- 1:40:38Speaker 1: So I think that this is just that, that that
- 1:40:40initial step, and I'm stoked to, you know, see what
- 1:40:42else comes out of it.
- 1:40:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I agree one hundred percent. I enjoyed it, and
- 1:40:47I will say this, I think I can say definitively
- 1:40:50that was better ridden than Jeff the Killer.
- 1:40:52Speaker 2: Oh dude.
- 1:40:52Speaker 1: Yeah, definitely. Come on, now, what are we what are
- 1:40:56we doing here? Definitely? Yeah. All right, y'all, Well, that's
- 1:41:01all we have for this week. We will catch you
- 1:41:03on the next episode.
- 1:41:04Speaker 3: Goodbye, Thank you all for watching. Bye.
