- 0:12SPEAKER_00: Hey my friend, welcome to this episode of the Daily Writer Podcast.
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: One of the curses of being a writer is that sometimes we're just too rational for our own good.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: We pride ourselves on reporting the facts of a situation accurately.
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: We love the idea of having an objective point of view, then giving our commentary or our perspective.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: We don't like the idea of getting carried away with our emotions because we don't want to be irrational or to have a skewed point of view.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: But is being rational really the best way to approach life, though?
- 0:45SPEAKER_00: You know, it's hard to believe John F.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: Kennedy was being entirely rational when he challenged the nation to put a man on the moon by the end of the 1960s.
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: It's hard to believe the artist Michelangelo was being entirely rational when he set out to paint the Sistine Chapel.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: It's hard to believe that Harriet Tubman was being entirely rational when she risked her own safety to help free slaves in the days of the Underground Railroad.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: None of those leaders were operating solely on what other people had done before or by what other people thought was possible.
- 1:18SPEAKER_00: Instead, they were operating by vision and an intense confidence that they could pull off something extraordinary.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: Walt Disney famously said this.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: Somehow I can't believe there are many heights that can't be scaled by a man who knows the secret of making dreams come true.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: This special secret, it seems to me, can be summarized in four C's.
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: They are curiosity, confidence, courage, and constancy.
- 1:44SPEAKER_00: And the greatest of these is confidence.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: When you believe a thing, believe it all over, implicitly and unquestioningly.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: So let me ask you something.
- 1:56SPEAKER_00: Do you believe you can write?
- 1:58SPEAKER_00: Do you believe your book or your content can change somebody's life?
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: Do you believe you can create a business with your writing?
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: Do you believe you can achieve it with enough work, time, and connections?
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: Well, whatever you've set out to do in your writing, you must believe it.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: And once you can see the vision clearly in your mind, you've now set the stage for making that vision a reality.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: Here's today's question.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: What is your vision for your writing?
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: Do you believe you can achieve it?
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: Thanks so much for listening to today's episode.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: I want to take a moment to let you know about our daily writer membership community.
