In 1907, a British Army officer sparked the global Scouting movement with a camping trip on Brownsea Island. By 1910, Scouts had arrived in Utah and the U.S., with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints joining forces with Boy Scouts in 1913 to build a strong local presence. After ending its partnership with BSA in 2019, the Church launched its own youth program—but Utah’s Scouting legacy lives on, with over 5,000 Scouts still shaping character, skills, and community through outdoor adventure.
