- 0:00Speaker 1: Here we are, guys, last break of the day on
- 0:02Speaker 1: this Friday. It's been a good day. It's been a
- 0:05Speaker 1: good day.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 0:06Speaker 3: I want to say real real quickly about the mentoring camp.
- 0:09Speaker 3: Have a new group of boys down here this year,
- 0:11Speaker 3: one hundred and fifty strong. It seems like a good group.
- 0:15Speaker 3: We're working them through the paces. I want to thank
- 0:17Speaker 3: all the volunteer mentors who came down. You know, we
- 0:22Speaker 3: lost the United States Army support because it was disadministration
- 0:27Speaker 3: put it under the DEI. So they killed that and
- 0:31Speaker 3: the contribution that the US Army was making. They took
- 0:33Speaker 3: the funding and they took the soldiers.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Wow.
- 0:37Speaker 3: But I want to thank God for so many of
- 0:40Speaker 3: the soldiers that have helped me over the years heard
- 0:42Speaker 3: about it and they took their vacation time and twenty
- 0:47Speaker 3: of them came and volunteered.
- 0:49Speaker 1: Thank you for you.
- 0:52Speaker 3: I thought that was outstanding man for them brothers in
- 0:54Speaker 3: the US Army. So I just wanted to say that, Junior,
- 0:58Speaker 3: you had a question for me.
- 1:00Speaker 2: It was right up there that alley actually, because I
- 1:02Speaker 2: was asking what all the success you have?
- 1:03Speaker 3: Man?
- 1:04Speaker 2: You have? You know, you're a motivational speaker, your radio host,
- 1:07Speaker 2: your TV personality. And then here you are spending your
- 1:11Speaker 2: Father's Day weekend with some men you've never met, some
- 1:13Speaker 2: young men you never met before. What made you put
- 1:15Speaker 2: mentorship on this list because it seems like you had everything.
- 1:19Speaker 3: Well, you know, I have a saying that says, your
- 1:21Speaker 3: career is what you paid for, but your calling is
- 1:25Speaker 3: what you're made for. And I discovered out of all
- 1:31Speaker 3: my success that the real purpose that God gave me
- 1:38Speaker 3: this vehicle of success for was to turn around and
- 1:42Speaker 3: do his work. God blesses you to become a blessing.
- 1:48Speaker 3: That's my mother imparted that on me. Even as a child.
- 1:53Speaker 3: She used to tell me something one time that I
- 1:55Speaker 3: didn't understand. I'd be on my way outter school, and
- 1:57Speaker 3: every now and then she said, boy, don't forget one
- 2:00Speaker 3: day God gonna give you a big house up on
- 2:02Speaker 3: the hill. You can't get up on that hill, and
- 2:04Speaker 3: don't take nobody with you. Now. I didn't get it
- 2:08Speaker 3: at the time, but my mother knew something that I
- 2:11Speaker 3: didn't know, that one day I would have a big
- 2:17Speaker 3: house up on the hill, and that it was my
- 2:20Speaker 3: obligation to teach other people how to get on the
- 2:23Speaker 3: hill too. And that's a big part of it. And
- 2:27Speaker 3: I just have discovered the older I Get Nurse program
- 2:33Speaker 3: is sixteen seventeen years old, maybe even yeah plans it
- 2:39Speaker 3: is older than that. Really, yeah, the minnoring camp is
- 2:43Speaker 3: older than that. I don't even know. Wow, I had
- 2:46Speaker 3: this minoring camp back in two thousand and three. It's
- 2:51Speaker 3: twenty some years old. Man, I've been doing this since Dallas.
- 2:55Speaker 3: I lost track. But anyway, I've just learned that all
- 3:01Speaker 3: of this fame and and and and and means that
- 3:05Speaker 3: God had graced me would had to have a purpose
- 3:07Speaker 3: attack to it. I've actually found my purpose in life.
- 3:12Speaker 3: I got the fame part, that's cool, but that's gonna
- 3:14Speaker 3: be over with one day.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Now.
- 3:16Speaker 3: I won't do TV forever, you know, And that's that's
- 3:19Speaker 3: gonna go away. But my legacy won't go away. My
- 3:25Speaker 3: legacy is gonna be here after I'm gone. I've learned
- 3:30Speaker 3: something owning this ranch, as i've a tornado came through
- 3:36Speaker 3: and destroyed a huge part of the forest that I own.
- 3:41Speaker 3: So we got with the Department of Georgia Agriculture and
- 3:44Speaker 3: they tore down probably one hundred acres of trees, just
- 3:53Speaker 3: tore them out the ground. Just horrible tornado, so I
- 3:56Speaker 3: had to replace them, and I replaced ninety thousand trees,
- 4:04Speaker 3: replanted ninety thousand trees. Department of Georgia came down and
- 4:08Speaker 3: helped me do it. They send the people down there
- 4:11Speaker 3: that make roads and they plant these sprucelings, and I've
- 4:14Speaker 3: watched these brucelings grow over the years. But you know what,
- 4:19Speaker 3: I also realize a society becomes great when old men
- 4:27Speaker 3: plant trees under which the shade they know they'll never sit.
- 4:35Speaker 3: I know that I won't be here when them trees
- 4:40Speaker 3: get really, really big enough to create shade. I know
- 4:44Speaker 3: I'm not gonna be here for that. Those trees that
- 4:46Speaker 3: got took out the ground was one hundred years old. Man,
- 4:51Speaker 3: I won't even be here for when they're fifty years
- 4:54Speaker 3: old and they provide all that shade. But the saying
- 4:59Speaker 3: is a society now, it becomes great when old men
- 5:02Speaker 3: plant trees under which the shade they know they'll never sit.
- 5:07Speaker 3: And I've decided to be that type of person that
- 5:10Speaker 3: I'm gonna plant some seeds and stick some things in
- 5:12Speaker 3: the ground under which I won't see the result of,
- 5:16Speaker 3: but the results will be there after I'm long gone.
- 5:19Speaker 3: And that's why I meant to these young men. Some
- 5:21Speaker 3: of these young men gonna be grandfathers one day. I
- 5:24Speaker 3: may not be here when they become grandfathers, but I
- 5:28Speaker 3: put enough seeds in the ground to produce enough boys.
- 5:32Speaker 3: I have been able to see some boys turn into
- 5:35Speaker 3: some fine young men. I have lived long enough to
- 5:39Speaker 3: see that. And so as I build my legacy by
- 5:44Speaker 3: the grace of God and with the help of Marjorie,
- 5:47Speaker 3: and we have the Stephen Marjorie Harvey Legacy Ranch. That's
- 5:50Speaker 3: why I called it the Legacy Ranch. You know, it
- 5:53Speaker 3: was the Rock Ranch for years. They got a big
- 5:54Speaker 3: sign out there, Rock Ranch. I had to take the
- 5:56Speaker 3: crest out the ground and put my own family crest
- 5:59Speaker 3: in the ground because it's something we're doing, and we're
- 6:03Speaker 3: doing it to change the lives of boys and girls
- 6:06Speaker 3: to beg to make better young men and better young women.
- 6:09Speaker 3: So people have better families, your daughters have better choices
- 6:13Speaker 3: in men. And that's what it's about, man. And so
- 6:16Speaker 3: that's the purpose I have in my life. And I'll
- 6:18Speaker 3: continue that until I leave here I end my entertainment career.
- 6:23Speaker 3: But that thing right there, I'll never stop doing that.
- 6:26Speaker 3: Those are my closing wartsh, don't talk to God everybody.
- 6:30Speaker 3: He would absolutely love to hear from you. Y'all have
- 6:32Speaker 3: a great day, stay in peace, now holler.
