- 0:09Speaker 1: Hey, welcome to this edition of Hers Weekly. As we
- 0:12Speaker 1: look ahead to the Eagles offseason.
- 0:13Speaker 2: That man right.
- 0:14Speaker 1: There who I've known way too long, Barrett Brooks up,
- 0:18Speaker 1: Derek Gunn b Brooks. Off season came abruptly, but so
- 0:22Speaker 1: lo and behold, that's life in the National Football League,
- 0:25Speaker 1: all right. So now we have to start looking ahead
- 0:28Speaker 1: for what's to come for this Philadelphia Eagles team.
- 0:30Speaker 3: You know, to me, I just feel as though you
- 0:33Speaker 3: know you do jailing a real big and injustice if
- 0:36Speaker 3: you have another play caller come in if he's not
- 0:39Speaker 3: allowed to put in his office and not Ken, not
- 0:43Speaker 3: NIXI Roanne's defense the offense, I'm sorry, off.
- 0:46Speaker 1: I think in a lot of ways, Kevin Patula was
- 0:48Speaker 1: a sacrificial lamb, especially when Nick Sirianni stepped to the
- 0:52Speaker 1: podium and said he was going to have more input
- 0:54Speaker 1: into the overall offensive structure and flow, and the fact
- 0:59Speaker 1: that I think Jalen handcuffed him in a lot of
- 1:02Speaker 1: ways in terms of what he wanted to call.
- 1:04Speaker 2: Now, I don't.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Want to see Eagles go out and get somebody and
- 1:08Speaker 1: get send out a press release or have Howie Roseman
- 1:11Speaker 1: stand at the podium and tell us. We think he's
- 1:14Speaker 1: the next hot shot play caller. I want somebody with
- 1:19Speaker 1: some experience, Somebody like a Kellen Moore who knows what
- 1:22Speaker 1: they're doing, somebody who's been around the block a few times.
- 1:25Speaker 1: There's enough of those people out there when you consider
- 1:27Speaker 1: there's eight head coaching jobs available and the whole plethora
- 1:30Speaker 1: of a coach's assistant coaches who are now scrambling looking
- 1:33Speaker 1: for jobs. If they're former head coach is not gonna
- 1:35Speaker 1: take them with them. And you have a team that's
- 1:39Speaker 1: consistently in the playoffs over the last five years, and
- 1:42Speaker 1: they sent out a one ad for an offensive play caller.
- 1:45Speaker 1: I think this is a prime position to come into,
- 1:47Speaker 1: especially when you consider the offense once again will be intact.
- 1:51Speaker 1: You know, the defense is young and hungry. It's a
- 1:54Speaker 1: perfect scenario for an offensive play caller to come in here.
- 1:58Speaker 3: With the exception of AJ, they'll pretty much have everybody back,
- 2:02Speaker 3: you know. I just don't know that they're gonna bring
- 2:04Speaker 3: AJ back. I don't think AJ.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Wants to My next question, yeah.
- 2:08Speaker 4: I don't think he wants to come back, and.
- 2:12Speaker 3: It'd be kind of hard for him to come back
- 2:14Speaker 3: and and be in that locker room, knowing that you know,
- 2:19Speaker 3: you saw we witness in the game. You know, I
- 2:21Speaker 3: don't think that he ever totally committed to playing that game.
- 2:26Speaker 3: And and you know in the second half and going
- 2:28Speaker 3: out there, you know, running full speed routes to get
- 2:31Speaker 3: open and you know, the effort just wasn't there. I
- 2:33Speaker 3: think he was just you know, like, all right, you
- 2:36Speaker 3: trip a dog, I'm done now. You know what I'm saying,
- 2:39Speaker 3: You can't talk to me any old kind of way.
- 2:40Speaker 3: And he let him know he couldn't.
- 2:43Speaker 1: I think, and this is just my personal opinion, but
- 2:46Speaker 1: I think when he got involved jahn jacking with Cyrianne
- 2:48Speaker 1: on the sideline, I think that's when he checked out
- 2:50Speaker 1: of the game, to be quite honest.
- 2:52Speaker 3: With you, right right, it is it just I just
- 2:58Speaker 3: never I've never in a position where I can have
- 3:00Speaker 3: that much cashe to dump back to my head coach,
- 3:03Speaker 3: nor if I wanted to talk back to my head coach,
- 3:05Speaker 3: you know, not just saying I was a punk or anything,
- 3:07Speaker 3: because I mean, I mean I whooped my coaches ass.
- 3:10Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, It's nothing like that. It
- 3:12Speaker 3: ain't about being a man, you know what I'm saying.
- 3:15Speaker 4: You know, I'm knocked my car out.
- 3:18Speaker 3: It was never about that, but I would respect him
- 3:23Speaker 3: enough that I'm gonna do.
- 3:24Speaker 2: It to ask.
- 3:25Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying. Number one, you know they're
- 3:26Speaker 4: a big part of me getting my paycheck. Number one.
- 3:30Speaker 3: Number two is just the respect that that position in
- 3:33Speaker 3: the locker room carries.
- 3:35Speaker 4: I just wouldn't allow myself to be that way. That's
- 3:37Speaker 4: just that's just me though.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Is there any way you can bring a back?
- 3:42Speaker 3: Yeah, if if one says he wants them back, If
- 3:48Speaker 3: one says he wants him back, he'll be back.
- 3:49Speaker 4: That'll probably be the only way he comes back.
- 3:51Speaker 3: If one says, if number one says, look, I need
- 3:54Speaker 3: my play maker back, he'll come back.
- 3:58Speaker 1: I think he's worn out as welcomes, as talented as
- 4:01Speaker 1: he is, you know, and plus he was a captain
- 4:04Speaker 1: of this team, which means you're supposed to be a
- 4:05Speaker 1: positive example. I think he's worn out as welcome. I
- 4:09Speaker 1: think I think he put too too much emphasis on me.
- 4:12Speaker 2: Now. I understand past catchers want to catch the ball,
- 4:15Speaker 2: but you know.
- 4:16Speaker 1: When you stand before the media and a market like
- 4:18Speaker 1: this and you tell them, you know, I want to dominate.
- 4:21Speaker 2: I want to do this me.
- 4:21Speaker 4: Me, me, me, me, me me.
- 4:23Speaker 1: After a while, kind of kind of great some people, man,
- 4:26Speaker 1: you know, you know, and especially after when you consider
- 4:30Speaker 1: what happened in that last game was the drop passes
- 4:32Speaker 1: and stuff, right, don't I don't think it's support group.
- 4:35Speaker 1: And when I say support group, I mean the fan
- 4:37Speaker 1: base in the media. I don't think the support support
- 4:41Speaker 1: group is there anymore for him, to.
- 4:43Speaker 4: Be quite honest, I think he has kind of warm
- 4:45Speaker 4: that welcome out.
- 4:46Speaker 3: But hey, just like uh, you know, he comes in
- 4:49Speaker 3: and you know, catches a bomb or catches you know,
- 4:52Speaker 3: a little stick route and turns it up and goes
- 4:54Speaker 3: forty yards toward You know, that's the biggest that cures
- 4:57Speaker 3: a lot of ailments, you know what I'm saying. Yeah,
- 5:00Speaker 3: you know, it'll change a whole lot of people's mindsets
- 5:03Speaker 3: on whether they want him back or not. You know,
- 5:05Speaker 3: the talent that he has unbelievable. It's just him wanting
- 5:08Speaker 3: to use that talent all the time. Is where we
- 5:13Speaker 3: you know, we might have the sticking point. You know,
- 5:16Speaker 3: you can't be mad and not want to you know,
- 5:20Speaker 3: let everybody play with your ball. You know, you can't
- 5:21Speaker 3: just pick up saying I'm not playing you can't do that.
- 5:24Speaker 2: You just can't do that.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Well, we know, we know this team will not look
- 5:28Speaker 1: exactly like it does now as this offseason rolls on,
- 5:34Speaker 1: you know how, he's gonna pull something out of his hat.
- 5:36Speaker 1: And free agency, they're loaded for the draft in terms
- 5:39Speaker 1: of draft picks, So this team's gonna get a lot
- 5:41Speaker 1: younger in certain areas.
- 5:42Speaker 2: And they're gonna free up some money.
- 5:44Speaker 1: But I got some names I'm gonna throw at you,
- 5:45Speaker 1: and you tell me if you think they're gonna come
- 5:47Speaker 1: back or not. These are names that are free agents
- 5:49Speaker 1: or players that could just possibly not be here. I'm
- 5:54Speaker 1: gonna start with one, Jalen Phillips. Do you think they
- 5:56Speaker 1: can afford to bring him back when you think about
- 5:58Speaker 1: the money. They've already tested in offensive players as well well.
- 6:04Speaker 3: If he could come back, if he would give him
- 6:06Speaker 3: a team friendly deal, and I think he would give
- 6:09Speaker 3: But team Fridley, what is team friendly? Is it like
- 6:12Speaker 3: all right, ninety million dollars at like four years ninety
- 6:15Speaker 3: million dollars or is it you know where you look
- 6:19Speaker 3: at Williams? Williams here last year you know Williams went
- 6:22Speaker 3: to New England. He paid for one hundred four million dollars.
- 6:24Speaker 3: He made a great play in the game, in the
- 6:27Speaker 3: playoff game, he just had I think he's right along
- 6:30Speaker 3: that that number, you know, and how we're supposed to
- 6:33Speaker 3: pay him, how we're supposed to pay Jalen Carter, and
- 6:37Speaker 3: he wants to get paid even though you know, what
- 6:41Speaker 3: he did the year before it didn't match up what
- 6:43Speaker 3: he did this year. You know, he was he was
- 6:45Speaker 3: injured the majority of the year, so he didn't play
- 6:47Speaker 3: up the expectation. But we know he's a special, special
- 6:50Speaker 3: special player. He can play, he can play this game.
- 6:53Speaker 3: He's a special special player. So you have to pay him. Accordingly, Davis,
- 6:59Speaker 3: they made you know, they signed him to his you know,
- 7:02Speaker 3: fifth year option, so he'll he'll be here, but do
- 7:05Speaker 3: you pay him? You got Nolan Smith, he's in the
- 7:08Speaker 3: same position as as as Carter, but maybe they give
- 7:12Speaker 3: miss fifth year option. You know, I don't know, you
- 7:16Speaker 3: know a guy that I know you're gonna ask and
- 7:18Speaker 3: you know up here pretty high, but do you bring back.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Na Kobe Dean And there you go. That was my
- 7:26Speaker 2: next one.
- 7:27Speaker 4: The money that's already locked up in there.
- 7:30Speaker 3: I don't know if you can do it when you
- 7:31Speaker 3: have a pretty good first round draft choice that played
- 7:36Speaker 3: pretty well.
- 7:36Speaker 4: Also, he just didn't play against run as good as.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Na Kobe was, but he has the talent. He was
- 7:42Speaker 3: just young. I love Nikobe Dean. I love how he
- 7:46Speaker 3: plays man. I agree a great player, but I doubt
- 7:51Speaker 3: seriously they're gonna wrap up that much money in that.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Position really well. They never did before.
- 7:56Speaker 1: This is one of the few times they were deep
- 7:58Speaker 1: and talented at the line backing position. The only thing
- 8:01Speaker 1: I don't like about Nakobe Dean. I think he's a
- 8:03Speaker 1: liability in past coverage. But in terms of being a thumper,
- 8:07Speaker 1: you know, meeting meeting ball carriers at the line of scrimmage,
- 8:09Speaker 1: running sideline, the sideline, tracking ball carriers down, I think
- 8:12Speaker 1: he's as good as it's getting. He's still in this prime.
- 8:15Speaker 1: But you're right, how much money are they going to
- 8:18Speaker 1: invest in that position? That's something that Howie Roseman has
- 8:21Speaker 1: not done in this tenure with the Philadelphia Eagles. I've
- 8:25Speaker 1: remained it remains to be seen, all right. I got
- 8:27Speaker 1: another one for you. Read blank and ship.
- 8:31Speaker 4: Love that. I would love to have him back, but
- 8:33Speaker 4: I don't.
- 8:34Speaker 3: I don't think it's probably if they were gonna if
- 8:35Speaker 3: they were gonna sign him back. They to sign him
- 8:37Speaker 3: back already. Yeah, I was talking about you know, rub
- 8:41Speaker 3: about this and rub of Franken. He said, if they
- 8:44Speaker 3: were gonna sign him back, there to sign the back already.
- 8:46Speaker 4: They love him.
- 8:47Speaker 3: They extended him a year and a half ago. I mean,
- 8:52Speaker 3: I just think they can go find guys that can play,
- 8:55Speaker 3: you know, just as good, if not better than him.
- 8:58Speaker 4: You know, he's he was a good player, you know.
- 8:59Speaker 3: He he definitely talented enough that you know, even though
- 9:03Speaker 3: he had some short scumberings as far as speed, he
- 9:06Speaker 3: was never out of place. He knew where he needed
- 9:09Speaker 3: to be, and he played so smart that he was
- 9:11Speaker 3: you know, you couldn't take him off the field.
- 9:13Speaker 4: So, I mean, he's gonna be a great player for somebody.
- 9:15Speaker 3: He's got a lot of people gonna be looking at
- 9:17Speaker 3: him to uh to to bring him in and and
- 9:21Speaker 3: you know, help let him help his team Dallas, got it.
- 9:26Speaker 3: I would love to sign him back. But the man
- 9:29Speaker 3: has thirteen touchdown this year. You had eleven in the
- 9:31Speaker 3: in the regular season and two more in the preseason.
- 9:36Speaker 3: I think he yeah, you know, and yeah in the postseason. Sorry,
- 9:41Speaker 3: I think he outplayed what the Eagles are willing to
- 9:44Speaker 3: give him also?
- 9:45Speaker 1: Mmmm, all right, what about let's see here, what about
- 9:51Speaker 1: Braiden Man?
- 9:53Speaker 4: Mm hmm.
- 9:55Speaker 2: The way he was moving up?
- 9:56Speaker 1: You know they always say field position is so crucial
- 9:59Speaker 1: in the national f that man booming kicks and penned
- 10:03Speaker 1: a lot of teams deep in their own territory, which
- 10:05Speaker 1: is significantly eight of the Eagles defense in a lot
- 10:08Speaker 1: of ways. How do you let Braidon Man go? Now,
- 10:10Speaker 1: kickers don't cost you as much as most other position players.
- 10:14Speaker 1: You I don't think you can let him go. You
- 10:15Speaker 1: can't let him walk be gun. He might be my
- 10:19Speaker 1: MVP this year. Oh oh, how good he was.
- 10:24Speaker 3: He might be the MVP of the team because he all,
- 10:26Speaker 3: he was so so consistent that he would flip the
- 10:29Speaker 3: field so many times and put our defense in great positions.
- 10:33Speaker 3: Braden man Is, I think he's a must. You gotta
- 10:35Speaker 3: sign him back. You got to sign him back.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Here, here's two players that I want to see I'm
- 10:40Speaker 1: interested in. Here in your your thoughts, Number one, Lane Johnson,
- 10:46Speaker 1: do you think you should call it a career or
- 10:49Speaker 1: do you think him being a warrior he is, he's
- 10:51Speaker 1: gonna try to come back another season.
- 10:53Speaker 4: I think he tries to come back another season.
- 10:55Speaker 3: You know, he's out eight games, nine games this year,
- 10:58Speaker 3: the whole you know, nine games, that's half the season.
- 11:01Speaker 4: Yeah, he's gonna want to come back just to prove it,
- 11:04Speaker 4: not just to not to everybody, just to prove it
- 11:06Speaker 4: to himself.
- 11:07Speaker 3: He's that type of warrior, you know, this guy, he's
- 11:11Speaker 3: I really thought he was gonna play this year.
- 11:13Speaker 4: You know, he's talking about Liz Frank injury.
- 11:14Speaker 3: Liz Frank injury is one of the you know, most
- 11:17Speaker 3: painful injuries you can have in your foot. Man, that's
- 11:20Speaker 3: that thing hurts man. And I don't see how he
- 11:22Speaker 3: was even out there practicing. He should have really just
- 11:25Speaker 3: got the surgery back when it happened, and he and
- 11:27Speaker 3: he'd be back, you know, just before training camp. Now,
- 11:30Speaker 3: if he gets it, he'll be back four or five
- 11:33Speaker 3: games at the training camp.
- 11:34Speaker 4: Man.
- 11:34Speaker 3: So let me into the other season. So do I
- 11:38Speaker 3: think he wants to come I think he'll come back.
- 11:40Speaker 3: He's just that kind of guy. He's too honreing not
- 11:42Speaker 3: to want to come back. He's an honored boy.
- 11:43Speaker 2: He's b Broy.
- 11:45Speaker 4: He wants to be back.
- 11:46Speaker 3: I love laying He's just you know what I'm gonna
- 11:49Speaker 3: come back just to show everybody wrong.
- 11:50Speaker 4: Let's go. Let's go.
- 11:52Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, all right? The final on what Brandon Graham.
- 11:56Speaker 1: He'll be thirty eight years old when next season rolls around.
- 12:00Speaker 1: He said he was retired last year off season, came
- 12:04Speaker 1: back during this season. He didn't play a lot of
- 12:07Speaker 1: snaps into the season fresh. Do you think he's finally
- 12:11Speaker 1: got football out of his blood? We know what the
- 12:13Speaker 1: Eagles organization thinks of him as a player, but more importantly,
- 12:16Speaker 1: as a person and a representative of that organization. Do
- 12:19Speaker 1: you think Awiy roseveand opens the door and ask him
- 12:22Speaker 1: to come back one more time for leadership and guidance
- 12:25Speaker 1: to younger players.
- 12:27Speaker 3: Nah, I don't think, but he will give him his
- 12:30Speaker 3: card and say, hey, call me with four games left
- 12:32Speaker 3: in the season. I'll come in and do something for you.
- 12:36Speaker 3: I mean, the man came in had two sacks in
- 12:38Speaker 3: one game. Come on, he can still make it happen.
- 12:41Speaker 3: And they moved him to a new position. They moved
- 12:42Speaker 3: into three technique. He can be even better at that position.
- 12:46Speaker 3: So yeah, I think he finally got enough of that
- 12:49Speaker 3: football out of the system.
- 12:51Speaker 4: If they had a chance to go to the Super Bowl,
- 12:53Speaker 4: he'd have rolled it on end and rolled into the sunset.
- 12:57Speaker 3: But I think now, I think he's got enough out
- 12:59Speaker 3: and ready to get a job next to us on
- 13:02Speaker 3: TV somewhere.
- 13:03Speaker 1: If you had Howie Rosman's ear, as we look ahead
- 13:08Speaker 1: to free agency and the draft, what would be the
- 13:12Speaker 1: one position you would address first and foremost.
- 13:17Speaker 5: Hey, it's that time of the year that everyone's trying
