- 0:05Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the right time. A wave original.
- 0:10Speaker 1: My name is Bomani Jones. Thanks for listening wherever you
- 0:12Speaker 1: get your podcasts. Thanks for watching us on YouTube. Subscribe, like,
- 0:16Speaker 1: rate us, review us, give us five stars. You only
- 0:18Speaker 1: give us four stars. I'm inclined to believe you are
- 0:21Speaker 1: a hater. It is first Fridays with Dominique Fosworth.
- 0:25Speaker 2: What's going on, big dog?
- 0:26Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Not much, man.
- 0:28Speaker 3: Just happy that we got the playoffs. That final week
- 0:30Speaker 3: of football, man. I know they're trying to add more. Like, God,
- 0:34Speaker 3: we don't need no more. That last week was rough.
- 0:37Speaker 4: Oh, no.
- 0:37Speaker 1: And it's just look, man, every like my dad always say,
- 0:40Speaker 1: every everything you own is a bill waiting to happen.
- 0:44Speaker 1: Every week of football disaster is just a little bit closer.
- 0:49Speaker 3: It's just like it's so I don't know, maybe. Well, no,
- 0:52Speaker 3: I feel like mathematically. So the more games you add,
- 0:55Speaker 3: the more likely you're going to have irrelevant games.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Right. Right.
- 0:58Speaker 3: Like it's more chance. So, yeah, that's the thing that.
- 1:01Speaker 3: It's like, man, there's just so many games that didn't
- 1:04Speaker 3: matter with quarterbacks whose names I had never seen before.
- 1:07Speaker 3: It's like, what are we doing?
- 1:09Speaker 1: I mean, it feels like such a short-sighted money grab
- 1:11Speaker 1: in the end. Like, 16 felt like the sweet spot, right?
- 1:16Speaker 1: But now we're here. It's the playoffs that they added
- 1:20Speaker 1: one more team to that nobody needed that. That's my
- 1:25Speaker 1: thing with the playoffs is, hey, man. We don't have
- 1:29Speaker 1: enough good teams. Like, when they talk about expanding the
- 1:31Speaker 1: NCAA tournament, who you letting in?
- 1:33Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:36Speaker 3: And the thing is, like, it seems so obvious and
- 1:38Speaker 3: it seems so silly a decision, but obviously they know
- 1:41Speaker 3: what they're doing. They recognize what they're selling. They're like, yeah,
- 1:45Speaker 3: they know the trade-off. Yeah, I bet y'all going to watch.
- 1:48Speaker 3: I bet y'all going to watch.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Exactly right. All right, you going to talk all that shit, but.
- 1:52Speaker 2: You going to watch, but it's my job. I got
- 1:53Speaker 2: to do it for work.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right.
- 1:55Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Get your ass out there and get to work, you know?
- 1:59Speaker 1: But before we get to the playoffs, and we have
- 2:01Speaker 1: a lot there, you are a former Baltimore Raven. You
- 2:05Speaker 1: played for John Harbaugh. Here on the right time, we
- 2:08Speaker 1: expected him to get fired. Were you surprised?
- 2:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I think it's one of those things
- 2:15Speaker 3: that you know is going to happen eventually, inevitably, and, like,
- 2:19Speaker 3: it was reasonable for it to happen now, but it
- 2:21Speaker 3: still was like, damn. You just got used to it. So, like,
- 2:24Speaker 3: it was kind of, it wasn't like... wasn't something that
- 2:28Speaker 3: I was like, I can't explain this. This is so ridiculous.
- 2:30Speaker 3: But it's still like, oh, damn, they really did it.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Especially the time when it happened. Like I was at
- 2:34Speaker 3: dinner with Swagoo. Like I had moved on. Well, I
- 2:37Speaker 3: guess we weren't at dinner yet. I was headed to
- 2:39Speaker 3: dinner with Swagoo and it came through the thing.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm old. I go to early dinners.
- 2:44Speaker 1: I was hungry.
- 2:48Speaker 3: It was a spur of the moment type of thing.
- 2:50Speaker 3: He wasn't planning on being there. I'd be hungry on
- 2:52Speaker 3: the spur of the moment, too.
- 2:54Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? Next week, what you doing, man?
- 2:56Speaker 1: I'll be here.
- 2:57Speaker 2: You know where I'm at. All right. I'll be up
- 2:59Speaker 2: there next week. Guaranteed.
- 3:00Speaker 1: You got to realize, Dominique be here every weekend. I
- 3:02Speaker 1: see Dominique. What's a football season?
- 3:04Speaker 2: Not every weekend. It's during the week. I mean, every week.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Either way.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Either way. I'm not mad.
- 3:10Speaker 2: It was like three times this season.
- 3:12Speaker 1: It was twice. But you know what the thing is, though?
- 3:13Speaker 1: And I have to explain this to people about New York.
- 3:15Speaker 1: It's eight million people here. Right? So when somebody come
- 3:18Speaker 1: into New York, maybe you see them, maybe you don't.
- 3:21Speaker 1: Because there's a million people here.
- 3:23Speaker 2: I got to be honest with you.
- 3:24Speaker 3: And the same thing that I said to Marcus is,
- 3:27Speaker 3: it's not about that there's a bunch of different people
- 3:29Speaker 3: to see.
- 3:30Speaker 2: It's that I don't never want.
- 3:32Speaker 3: To do nothing, but I'm always happy I did it.
- 3:36Speaker 3: It's the most ridiculous dynamic that maybe other people understand.
- 3:40Speaker 3: Maybe it's my own personal thing. It's like, I'd be like, man...
- 3:45Speaker 3: I don't really want to do this.
- 3:46Speaker 2: I don't want to go out. I want to go
- 3:48Speaker 2: to bed.
- 3:49Speaker 3: And every time I get together with some friends and
- 3:51Speaker 3: go do something, whether it's here or anywhere else, I'm.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Always like, that was nice. I really enjoyed doing that.
- 3:56Speaker 2: But I still can't get myself to make no plans.
- 4:00Speaker 1: No, well, that's what that's what it is.
- 4:01Speaker 2: It is interesting.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Neither of us is the imposing type.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:06Speaker 1: But you have to be imposed upon. right like if
- 4:09Speaker 1: you are imposed upon you will go for it and
- 4:11Speaker 1: you will be cool but it's not i'd be like
- 4:14Speaker 1: y'all man dominique down there i'm gonna let him do
- 4:15Speaker 1: what he gonna do no that is not actually going
- 4:17Speaker 1: to work like that's not that's that's not next week.
- 4:20Speaker 2: We locked it guaranteed.
- 4:22Speaker 1: We all good it's all good but i think i
- 4:24Speaker 1: just realized i hope that didn't sound as passive-aggressive as
- 4:27Speaker 1: it felt because it really wasn't making sure no okay
- 4:31Speaker 1: you and swag uh you and swag will go to
- 4:33Speaker 1: dinner bowl Yeah.
- 4:35Speaker 3: And as I'm walking, I get the alert that's like,
- 4:38Speaker 3: it pops up and I'm like, oh, damn. And so
- 4:40Speaker 3: like it stunned me, but it wasn't something that I
- 4:42Speaker 3: was like completely shocked by.
- 4:44Speaker 2: And anybody who the rumors got louder and louder.
- 4:47Speaker 3: So like I'm a little bit closer, like physically and
- 4:51Speaker 3: also like socially closer to the Ravens than most people.
- 4:54Speaker 3: So like some of the rumors that are starting to
- 4:56Speaker 3: come out and some of the reporting that's coming out
- 4:58Speaker 3: about relationships and discomfort and lost connection, locker room or
- 5:02Speaker 3: things that I've been hearing for a little while. And so, like,
- 5:05Speaker 3: when that stuff starts to bubble up, especially with a
- 5:07Speaker 3: guy who is as talented and important to the organization
- 5:12Speaker 3: as Lamar Jackson is, then, of course, it's going to
- 5:14Speaker 3: lead to this stuff at some point.
- 5:16Speaker 2: But, yeah, it's still surprising.
- 5:19Speaker 1: So this is my question about that because, you know,
- 5:21Speaker 1: we talked about it here on a YouTube video that
- 5:24Speaker 1: we did. And, look, you've been there for 18 years. Like,
- 5:27Speaker 1: this happens. This is just kind of what it is.
- 5:29Speaker 1: You guys were– they were highly disappointing– this season they
- 5:33Speaker 1: decided it was time for a change there also appear
- 5:37Speaker 1: to be reports that lamar jackson has some growing up
- 5:40Speaker 1: to do one might argue and i think the question
- 5:44Speaker 1: i have and i'm curious your thoughts on is not
- 5:46Speaker 1: even so much like it feels patronizing to say somebody
- 5:48Speaker 1: needs to grow up especially because he's almost 30 years
- 5:51Speaker 1: old now like he's a guy that you got me
- 5:52Speaker 1: like yo he ain't as young as it seemed like
- 5:54Speaker 1: he was but i wonder like i look at kawaii
- 5:58Speaker 1: leonard in the nba and i say Oh, you want
- 6:02Speaker 1: the money, right? And you want to be able to
- 6:04Speaker 1: show up whenever you want because you're the best, but
- 6:07Speaker 1: you don't want none of the burden or the onus
- 6:10Speaker 1: that comes with that to be the leader, the example setter, right?
- 6:14Speaker 1: Like the guy that says how everything is going to be.
- 6:17Speaker 1: Like we get reports that Lamar, they don't even know
- 6:18Speaker 1: from day to day whether he feel like practicing or not.
- 6:22Speaker 1: And that to me, from where I stand, feels like
- 6:25Speaker 1: something that needs to change.
- 6:27Speaker 3: It's very un-football too. It's like you brought up Kawhi. Basketball,
- 6:32Speaker 3: you hear about things like this more often, where there's
- 6:35Speaker 3: guys who are really talented and they take advantage of
- 6:37Speaker 3: that talent. But you also hear the stories of the
- 6:40Speaker 3: guys who have the most success are the guys who
- 6:43Speaker 3: are those superstars, but they are reluctant to use that card. Like,
- 6:49Speaker 3: you know, we set up this operation, but I know
- 6:52Speaker 3: what it takes and I know that the way that
- 6:54Speaker 3: I behave is going to impact the culture of this team.
- 6:57Speaker 3: I think what you said like grow up is like
- 7:00Speaker 3: a euphemism for like be more professional, you know? And
- 7:03Speaker 3: I don't think that this is a unique work environment.
- 7:07Speaker 3: And so, and you come into a ton of power
- 7:09Speaker 3: and to your point, like he's about to be 30.
- 7:12Speaker 3: If you think about it's only in sports, you know,
- 7:17Speaker 3: I guess maybe startups, you know, Where it's a 30-year-old.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Right.
- 7:21Speaker 2: That's running all this. Like, you know what I mean?
- 7:24Speaker 3: Like, to be the person that everyone looks to for
- 7:28Speaker 3: leadership and guidance and, like, the vibes in the building
- 7:31Speaker 3: today are going to be based on how much sleep
- 7:34Speaker 3: you got last night.
- 7:36Speaker 2: You 30?
- 7:36Speaker 3: That's normally somebody that at the youngest is 55.
- 7:39Speaker 2: They maybe 42. I don't know.
- 7:43Speaker 3: But, like, normally you've lived a whole bunch. And you've also, like,
- 7:46Speaker 3: worked your way up. through these other settings where you've
- 7:49Speaker 3: seen what it's like to be there. So like, we
- 7:51Speaker 3: assume that those guys are ready for that automatically, but
- 7:55Speaker 3: also like to the interpersonal stuff. I don't know exactly
- 7:58Speaker 3: what's going on in the building, but if you feel
- 8:01Speaker 3: like you get mistreated and we all can attest to this,
- 8:05Speaker 3: you feel like you getting mistreated or underappreciated or whatever
- 8:08Speaker 3: it is that you're feeling.
- 8:09Speaker 2: And again, I'm not talking about Lamar specifically.
- 8:11Speaker 3: It's not anything that I know firsthand, but when you
- 8:15Speaker 3: get one side of the story, it sounds like it's
- 8:20Speaker 3: one person that's like, eh, I don't really care about this.
- 8:23Speaker 3: Not to say that the actions that were reported are justified,
- 8:28Speaker 3: but sometimes the actions are in response to something that
- 8:31Speaker 3: you are feeling or a way that you feel like
- 8:33Speaker 3: you are being treated.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Again, it's indefensible. Ultimately, no one is going to.
- 8:39Speaker 3: You are also the person who all this is going
- 8:41Speaker 3: to hang on, which is why I kind of understand
- 8:43Speaker 3: and ultimately came around to like, if this was.
- 8:47Speaker 2: something that was pushed by.
- 8:48Speaker 3: Lamar by all means, because we not going to look
- 8:51Speaker 3: back on his career and say, man, he was the greatest.
- 8:54Speaker 2: It don't matter how many Superbowls he won. He was
- 8:57Speaker 2: the greatest.
- 8:58Speaker 3: They let him down in this way, that way, the
- 8:59Speaker 3: other way. No, we're going to be like, Hey, he
- 9:01Speaker 3: couldn't get it done in the big moments.
- 9:03Speaker 2: Right.
- 9:04Speaker 1: And look, for whatever reason, the Todd Munkin thing didn't
- 9:07Speaker 1: really work for him. The idea that Harbaugh was like,
- 9:10Speaker 1: I refuse to fire Todd Munkin. Okay. You must've just
- 9:12Speaker 1: wanted to go somewhere else. Cause this is a, like,
- 9:15Speaker 1: gotta do what you gotta do sometimes, big dog. Like,
- 9:17Speaker 1: I know Bruce Arians does not speak to Mike Tomlin
- 9:20Speaker 1: anymore based on a very similar situation, but sometimes that's
- 9:23Speaker 1: just a trade you gotta make. Like, if you, if Lamar,
- 9:27Speaker 1: if the quarterback doesn't want to play for the offensive coordinator,
- 9:30Speaker 1: then we gotta go get a new offensive coordinator.
- 9:32Speaker 2: Yeah, that sounds to me like it was a, it
- 9:35Speaker 2: was a piece of a bigger picture.
- 9:38Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 9:39Speaker 3: Where it's like, one thing about the Ravens has been
- 9:42Speaker 3: they've been such a, like, professionally run and, like, top heavy, like,
- 9:49Speaker 3: leadership structure from Ozzy, who's still involved, to DaCosta, to Harbaugh,
- 9:56Speaker 3: and Joe Flacco wasn't going to be the guy, and
- 9:59Speaker 3: he wasn't, like... he wasn't good enough frankly to be
- 10:01Speaker 3: that guy it's a unique place that this organization has
- 10:03Speaker 3: been in they've been good the whole time they existed
- 10:05Speaker 3: pretty much like competitive right they've never had a superstar
- 10:08Speaker 3: quarterback and they've never had and they had like superstar
- 10:11Speaker 3: linebackers and defensive players but and quarterbacks right yeah and
- 10:16Speaker 3: so like to me at least it comes down to
- 10:20Speaker 3: That felt like it wasn't about Todd Munkin. They've been
- 10:23Speaker 3: through so many coordinators over there. Harbaugh been there 19 years.
- 10:26Speaker 3: He done hired and fired a ton of people. It
- 10:28Speaker 3: wasn't about Todd Munkin. It was about, at least to me,
- 10:33Speaker 3: I'm in charge. We're going to do it my way.
- 10:36Speaker 3: And I'm going to bend a little bit, but this
- 10:37Speaker 3: is the final one. Like, no, you're not going to
- 10:40Speaker 3: tell me. And I respect that from both sides where
- 10:43Speaker 3: it's like, look, at a certain point, There's some level
- 10:47Speaker 3: of power that I must maintain if I'm going to
- 10:49Speaker 3: run this. You're not going to tell me who I
- 10:51Speaker 3: can hire and fire. I want a Super Bowl. If
- 10:53Speaker 3: I got to go for that, I got to go
- 10:54Speaker 3: for that. Like, I respect both of them and ultimately
- 10:57Speaker 3: how this panned out.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Yeah, it bees like that sometimes. You know, like, OK,
- 11:03Speaker 1: one of us is like something I would never forget
- 11:06Speaker 1: is when Russell Westbrook left Houston and was just like,
- 11:10Speaker 1: I won't play with James anymore. And James is like,
- 11:13Speaker 1: I don't want to play with Russell anymore. And them
- 11:15Speaker 1: boys is still freaking frack, man. Like, they just looked
- 11:18Speaker 1: at each other and was like, hey, man, I don't
- 11:21Speaker 1: think we meant to be roommates.
- 11:24Speaker 2: It beats like that sometimes.
- 11:26Speaker 3: I said a whole bunch of words, and you quite
- 11:28Speaker 3: succinctly boiled it down to the truth.
- 11:31Speaker 2: It's like, man, sometimes it beats like that.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Beats like that. By the way, I don't know if
- 11:35Speaker 1: you saw this, but on Wednesday, Josina Anderson reported that
- 11:39Speaker 1: the Miami Dolphins had been in touch with John Harbaugh,
- 11:42Speaker 1: which was a bit of an issue because on Wednesday,
- 11:44Speaker 1: the Miami Dolphins still had a head coach. Mike McDaniel
- 11:48Speaker 1: was their head coach. And the fact that he was
- 11:50Speaker 1: still the head coach made me raise the question where
- 11:52Speaker 1: I always say is like, so who does and does
- 11:54Speaker 1: not know that this man is black? Apparently, Stephen Ross
- 11:57Speaker 1: figured it out because on Thursday, the man got fired.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Ooh. Yeah, yeah.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Yeah, McDaniel's gone. I mean, look, man, once you start...
- 12:06Speaker 1: I didn't even see that.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:09Speaker 1: McDaniel got fired. Once... It's always bad news when the
- 12:14Speaker 1: streets find out that you tried to holler at another
- 12:16Speaker 1: coach while you still got the coach. It's over.
- 12:19Speaker 2: It's over. It's over.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Well, it raises the question, though. Would Steven Ross have
- 12:24Speaker 1: kept McDaniel if he didn't think that maybe he would
- 12:27Speaker 1: have a chance at John Harbaugh? Harbaugh's a fool if
- 12:30Speaker 1: he goes and takes that job, just so we're clear.
- 12:32Speaker 2: They.
- 12:33Speaker 1: Who go throw the ball for them?
- 12:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't agree with that wholeheartedly.
- 12:37Speaker 3: And it took me, I like figured this out on
- 12:40Speaker 3: air at get up where I was like, everyone who's
- 12:43Speaker 3: looking at the most favorable situation is someone who's looking
- 12:48Speaker 3: your people, the people who are looking at like the
- 12:51Speaker 3: roster and how close you are. When you're a coach
- 12:55Speaker 3: like John Harbaugh, you don't need to prove yourself early on.
- 13:01Speaker 3: you don't necessarily, if you look at the jobs that
- 13:03Speaker 3: are available, point to the quarterback that you want.
- 13:06Speaker 2: To be tied to. It ain't there.
- 13:09Speaker 3: Like, outside of that, everywhere you're looking for a quarterback,
- 13:13Speaker 3: but you point to a spot where there is no GM,
- 13:16Speaker 3: which is huge, because no matter where John was going,
- 13:19Speaker 3: he was firing a GM, unless he went with Monty
- 13:23Speaker 3: Austin for it, which apparently out in Arizona they have, like,
- 13:26Speaker 3: a relationship.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Maybe that would have worked out. But wherever he going,
- 13:29Speaker 2: y'all gone. He got that type of power, you know, right?
- 13:33Speaker 3: And he also can build up this team in the
- 13:36Speaker 3: image that he wants. I don't know that, like, if
- 13:39Speaker 3: Herbert's available, like, when his brother took the job, if
- 13:42Speaker 3: Lamar Jackson's available, you want to attach yourself to that.
- 13:46Speaker 3: But of the available jobs, is there... And, like, you
- 13:49Speaker 3: could take the Raiders job and get Mendoza. But, like,
- 13:53Speaker 3: if it's all about the roster... He's not in a position,
- 13:57Speaker 3: if you're a first year head coach, you're in a
- 13:58Speaker 3: position where like, man, I got to show they got
- 14:00Speaker 3: something this year or.
- 14:02Speaker 2: The clock ticks.
- 14:03Speaker 3: But I think Harbaugh, what you want is an owner
- 14:05Speaker 3: that's willing to spend money and is committed to trying
- 14:09Speaker 3: to win, but also don't meddle too much. And you
- 14:13Speaker 3: might have that with Steven Ross, maybe.
- 14:17Speaker 1: So I agree with everything that you're saying, right? First
- 14:21Speaker 1: of all, before I forget, Monty Ossenfort, hashtag white Monty.
- 14:26Speaker 1: It's Monty with an I, by the way. And I
- 14:28Speaker 1: looked up a picture because I was like, huh, it
- 14:30Speaker 1: could go either way. And no, no, no, no, no.
- 14:32Speaker 1: He is actually from Luverne, Minnesota. And, I mean, he
- 14:36Speaker 1: a white man with a baldy and a goatee. So, like,
- 14:39Speaker 1: maybe on the phone he sound like Monty. You know
- 14:42Speaker 1: what I'm saying? But just throwing that out there. My
- 14:45Speaker 1: thing with Miami is, I guess we've just been watching
- 14:48Speaker 1: 30 years of various levels of ineptitude from the franchise.
- 14:54Speaker 1: And to me, it's not even a matter of them
- 14:57Speaker 1: having a great quarterback. What's the how are we supposed
- 15:01Speaker 1: to get one? And I don't know what the path
- 15:04Speaker 1: is there on it, because I agree with you in
- 15:05Speaker 1: the sum total point and the rest of the roster.
- 15:08Speaker 1: I'm with you on. Hey, I'm John Harbaugh. Maybe you'll
- 15:10Speaker 1: give me some time. But at the same time, I
- 15:13Speaker 1: just saw them run Pete Carroll out of there after
- 15:15Speaker 1: one year. Now, granted, they look terrible, but I just
- 15:18Speaker 1: saw them run him out of there after one year.
- 15:21Speaker 3: And like Pete Carroll's not. he's not John Harbaugh just
- 15:25Speaker 3: because their resumes are somewhat similar. Pete Carroll was a
- 15:29Speaker 3: decision that they made when they couldn't get the guy
- 15:31Speaker 3: that they wanted. It wasn't like the cycle started and
- 15:34Speaker 3: everyone was like, Ooh, can we get Pete Carroll? Kind
- 15:37Speaker 3: of like, I know it sounds ridiculous now, but kind
- 15:39Speaker 3: of like how Bill Belichick was like, if you'd have
- 15:41Speaker 3: hired Bill Belichick, he was going to give him five
- 15:43Speaker 3: years at least to do some, figure something out.
- 15:46Speaker 2: And I think that's the same thing.
- 15:47Speaker 3: And so I guess the real question is how long
- 15:49Speaker 3: are they under this, this Tua thing? And you know
- 15:52Speaker 3: what I thought of, sean payton as the last coach
- 15:55Speaker 3: that kind of felt like the way belichick feel or
- 15:59Speaker 3: excuse me the way that harbaugh feels right now and
- 16:01Speaker 3: sean payton was like.
- 16:02Speaker 2: I'm gonna go let me holler at these waltons yeah
- 16:06Speaker 2: let me holler at these.
- 16:07Speaker 3: Waltons in denver and build something up here i know
- 16:10Speaker 3: we are underneath this ridiculous cap um restriction because of
- 16:15Speaker 3: the russell wilson deal like but We got an organization
- 16:19Speaker 3: that with young or new owners that got all the
- 16:21Speaker 3: money that are willing to pay what I need to
- 16:24Speaker 3: pay in order to make this roster complete, like commit
- 16:27Speaker 3: money past time and commit, commit to the facilities, commit
- 16:31Speaker 3: to me hiring the best coaching staff that I can
- 16:33Speaker 3: in front office.
- 16:34Speaker 2: Like all that stuff is the stuff that we don't
- 16:36Speaker 2: talk about when we talk about choosing jobs.
- 16:38Speaker 3: But ultimately, if you're going to be there for a
- 16:41Speaker 3: long time, have sustained success, like it's not a coincidence
- 16:44Speaker 3: that we, there are certain teams that, that only pop
- 16:47Speaker 3: up in a Super Bowl once in a while because
- 16:49Speaker 3: they got hot, Cincinnati.
- 16:51Speaker 1: I mean, keep it real. That's the Giants.
- 16:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:56Speaker 1: They won those two Super Bowls, but when they won them,
- 16:58Speaker 1: it is exactly the scenario that you described because you
- 17:01Speaker 1: hear Harbaugh's name pop up with the Giants. We treat
- 17:04Speaker 1: the Jets like a joke, and it's fair to treat
- 17:07Speaker 1: the Jets like a joke. I've been living here for
- 17:09Speaker 1: the ninth football season that I've done here. They the same, dawg.
- 17:15Speaker 1: They just wear different colors.
- 17:17Speaker 2: And they also, like, it's branding. It's this branding also.
- 17:21Speaker 1: Yeah, but the Giants have four Super Bowls, right? The
- 17:24Speaker 1: Giants had Lawrence Taylor, all of those things. But for
- 17:28Speaker 1: however many years, the Giants and the Jets, lo mismo,
- 17:32Speaker 1: as they say in Espanol, lo mismo.
- 17:35Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't love that.
- 17:37Speaker 3: I mean, that's another one where it's like, if you're
- 17:39Speaker 3: going there as John Albaugh, then that's because you think
- 17:43Speaker 3: Jackson Dart has a chance to be a top of
- 17:45Speaker 3: the league quarterback. And that's, that's about it. And they
- 17:49Speaker 3: have a bunch, they have tackle. That's really good. They
- 17:51Speaker 3: have pass rusher or whole D line. That's really good.
- 17:54Speaker 3: Like they have some exciting pieces, but I think when
- 17:56Speaker 3: you're a coach like this, it's a mistake for us
- 17:58Speaker 3: to think that the best job is the best roster.
- 18:01Speaker 1: Well, let me ask you this. If the Steelers get
- 18:05Speaker 1: ran by the Texans, which is on the board, And
- 18:10Speaker 1: they decide to let Mike Tomlin go. Now, of course,
- 18:12Speaker 1: the trick bag in this is it don't matter what
- 18:14Speaker 1: none of us think. The Steelers' decisions are made by
- 18:17Speaker 1: the Steelers, right? Like, I don't even know if they
- 18:19Speaker 1: got a telephone line for the fans to call in.
- 18:23Speaker 2: You know what I'm saying? Nah.
- 18:26Speaker 1: But let's say they let Mike Tomlin go. Would they
- 18:31Speaker 1: dare hire John Harbaugh?
- 18:34Speaker 2: Absolutely not. See, that's the thing.
- 18:36Speaker 3: I think a lot of teams are looking around and
- 18:39Speaker 3: are attracted to john harbaugh because they don't they haven't
- 18:43Speaker 3: lived that life like this life for 20 years of
- 18:45Speaker 3: being good and competitive they haven't lived that life the
- 18:49Speaker 3: the um dolphins like we could be the ravens we
- 18:53Speaker 3: could lose this we could have disappointment in the playoffs
- 18:55Speaker 3: every year that would be marvelous and maybe have a
- 18:59Speaker 3: chance to win a super bowl in 19 years that'd
- 19:01Speaker 3: be tremendous the i guarantee you it's not only that
- 19:05Speaker 3: he's a raven and that's like sacrilege to the steelers.
- 19:09Speaker 2: Is that we the same. We the same.
- 19:12Speaker 3: Yeah, they're going to look at him and be like,
- 19:17Speaker 3: at least we can say that Tomlin didn't have a quarterback.
- 19:20Speaker 3: You had an MVP. Don't you bring your ass over
- 19:23Speaker 3: here with that. I do not think that the Steelers
- 19:25Speaker 3: fans would be excited about. They would make fun of
- 19:28Speaker 3: Ravens fans and have a good time with that, but
- 19:31Speaker 3: they would not be excited about bringing him in because
- 19:33Speaker 3: they live in the same neighborhood.
- 19:36Speaker 2: That's not an upgrade to them.
- 19:37Speaker 1: They ain't trying to make no trade. They ain't trying
- 19:40Speaker 1: to switch it out. They ain't trying to bring in Stefanska.
- 19:43Speaker 3: They not trying to do wife swap.
- 19:45Speaker 2: Not right there. They are not swapping up in that situation.
- 19:52Speaker 1: The coaching thing was interesting because I don't think there
- 19:56Speaker 1: was anything that was shocking. The shock was that Mike
- 19:59Speaker 1: McDaniel had kept his job and they went ahead and
- 20:03Speaker 1: clinked up that situation. That one got taken care of.
- 20:07Speaker 1: I don't know who the people are that people want
- 20:10Speaker 1: to hire, but I have to acknowledge about NFL coaching,
- 20:13Speaker 1: NBA coaching. I always say you can go get a broadcaster,
- 20:16Speaker 1: a dude off the street, whatever. I got no idea
- 20:18Speaker 1: who's going to turn out to be that guy. Usually
- 20:21Speaker 1: like guys that look terrible in press conferences. And in
- 20:25Speaker 1: spite of his success, this does include Nick Sirianni. They
- 20:28Speaker 1: typically are not the guy, right? Sirianni, again, the weirdest
- 20:32Speaker 1: case of any coach of all time. I don't know
- 20:33Speaker 1: what it'll take for him to get credit. I don't
- 20:35Speaker 1: know what it'll take for him to get fired. I
- 20:37Speaker 1: don't have any answers to any of those questions. But
- 20:39Speaker 1: I will say this. That goddamn Liam Cohen seemed like
- 20:43Speaker 1: the biggest dork in the world at that press conference
- 20:45Speaker 1: and then looked like an even bigger dork when he
- 20:47Speaker 1: made Robert Sala threaten to kill him. Dominique, he appears
- 20:52Speaker 1: to be very good at his job.
- 20:54Speaker 2: He does appear to be very good at his job.
- 20:56Speaker 2: That's the thing. And it's also....
- 21:00Speaker 3: The more I think about it, it's like authenticity matters
- 21:02Speaker 3: as far as connecting with players and connecting with the
- 21:04Speaker 3: players really matters. Then after that, the scheme stuff matters.
- 21:07Speaker 3: You have to be able to connect with them in
- 21:09Speaker 3: order for the scheme stuff to be executed. And like
- 21:13Speaker 3: that trust and that commitment, that stuff you don't really,
- 21:15Speaker 3: like there've been coaches who've had a spike. So we'll
- 21:17Speaker 3: see if, if Liam Cohen's able to sustain this over
- 21:22Speaker 3: a while, but it seems clear.
- 21:23Speaker 2: That he's had immediate impact.
- 21:25Speaker 3: And then there's like so many other variables that determine like,
- 21:29Speaker 3: this season started. I made this point a long time ago,
- 21:31Speaker 3: like around, I don't know, week seven or so where
- 21:35Speaker 3: their offense wasn't quite where it needed to be. And
- 21:38Speaker 3: their defense was getting ridiculous turnover luck. And they were
- 21:42Speaker 3: still in good spirits. And I was like, you know what?
- 21:45Speaker 3: These turnovers are buying them time. It's buying them time.
- 21:49Speaker 3: Cause they were, they could have been like under it.
- 21:51Speaker 3: Like three, two, three wins by then, but they were
- 21:54Speaker 3: winning games because they were having good turnover luck. And I,
- 21:59Speaker 3: That's one of the variables that I think put them
- 22:00Speaker 3: in this position now where they just ripped off eight
- 22:02Speaker 3: wins in a row, just dominated the Titans on their
- 22:05Speaker 3: way into the playoffs. And if, to your point about
- 22:08Speaker 3: like the branding difference in the New York teams, it's
- 22:12Speaker 3: like if the Jags was in a different uniform, the
- 22:17Speaker 3: way that they closed this season out with a number
- 22:21Speaker 3: one overall quarterback playing the way that he's been playing,
- 22:24Speaker 3: there'll be no questions asked.
- 22:26Speaker 2: We expect them to rip through the playoffs. I think that.
- 22:31Speaker 3: Having the right, having a little bit of luck and
- 22:35Speaker 3: understanding that all the variables aren't always going to work out.
- 22:39Speaker 3: Like there've been great coaches that have failed before. There've
- 22:41Speaker 3: been bad coaches that have had a tremendous amount of success,
- 22:44Speaker 3: but right now it seems like they got a good
- 22:46Speaker 3: marriage there. And there's no reason to believe that it's
- 22:47Speaker 3: going to fall off for them anytime soon, but we'll
- 22:50Speaker 3: find out things break up.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Well, and Trevor Lawrence is starting to look like what
- 22:54Speaker 1: we thought was going to happen.
- 22:57Speaker 2: That's the, That's the big one. Coaching. But he wasn't
- 23:01Speaker 2: at the beginning of the season is my point.
- 23:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:03Speaker 2: Remember Liam Cohen was pounding on his chest, like hit
- 23:05Speaker 2: him here with it. Like Trevor wasn't doing it. That
- 23:07Speaker 2: defense was holding him together.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Man, I wish some dude named Liam would talk to
- 23:10Speaker 1: me like that. You know what I'm saying? Like that's
- 23:13Speaker 1: the good for him, man. He was a college quarterback,
- 23:16Speaker 1: wasn't he, I think. Yeah, yeah. He kicked it at
- 23:20Speaker 1: UMass with Victor Cruz. That was his man. It's still like... Okay,
- 23:27Speaker 1: I guess this is... When he told Robert Sala to
- 23:30Speaker 1: keep my name out your mouth, I was.
- 23:31Speaker 2: Just like, oh, Mr.
- 23:32Speaker 1: White Man, what are we doing here?
- 23:36Speaker 3: I got to do a quick Liam Google to make
- 23:39Speaker 3: sure I'm right about this thing.
- 23:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:43Speaker 1: By the way, do you know what Liam is short for?
- 23:45Speaker 5: Uh-uh.
- 23:46Speaker 1: Liam is short for Williams. Oh, I had long wondered
- 23:51Speaker 1: where the hell these Liam's come from. But that is
- 23:53Speaker 1: the origin of the name Liam is that it's short
- 23:56Speaker 1: for William. And I think that's trying too hard to
- 23:58Speaker 1: make a nickname.
- 23:59Speaker 2: I thought Liam Liam's not a name.
- 24:01Speaker 1: No, no. Liam is like even if it is a
- 24:03Speaker 1: name that it is, it is a derivative of William.
- 24:07Speaker 1: It's like, yeah, but I was just like, wow, why
- 24:09Speaker 1: would you do that? Because I'd always wonder where the
- 24:12Speaker 1: hell it came from.
- 24:13Speaker 3: I know people named Dre, but I assume at one
- 24:18Speaker 3: point it wasn't a Dre, it was an Andre or
- 24:20Speaker 3: something like that.
- 24:21Speaker 1: Yeah, then Dre became so mainstream that every now and
- 24:24Speaker 1: then you just get a Dre.
- 24:25Speaker 6: Yep.
- 24:26Speaker 2: Yep, yep, yep. Did you get what you were looking for?
- 24:30Speaker 3: Yeah, sometimes we like to communicate in show, and I
- 24:32Speaker 3: just wanted to send you that, which I wasn't sure about.
- 24:36Speaker 1: Let me see, let me see.
- 24:40Speaker 2: Word? Word? Yeah, keep his name on your mouth. Hey,
- 24:46Speaker 2: I can't.
- 24:47Speaker 1: Oh, okay.
- 24:50Speaker 3: I thought so, but I had to double check for
- 24:53Speaker 3: my man Liam.
- 24:55Speaker 1: Yo, that was him. Okay, I was trying to remember
- 24:59Speaker 1: who I had seen a picture of him and his folks. Yeah.
- 25:04Speaker 1: It was him where I was like, yo, let me
- 25:06Speaker 1: zoom in on this picture a little bit more.
- 25:08Speaker 3: That's why he gives you that R & B Duvall.
- 25:10Speaker 3: That man, he like a little rhythm and blues.
- 25:13Speaker 1: I'll tell you this though, he appears to have some
- 25:15Speaker 1: very strong genes. Them look like Mike McDaniel's kids.
- 25:24Speaker 2: The kids do.
- 25:25Speaker 3: They do look like when they are applying for NFL jobs,
- 25:27Speaker 3: they're going to.
- 25:28Speaker 2: Be like, no, no, no, we checked that box too. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 25:31Speaker 2: They're going to have to tell you.
- 25:33Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, we don't really need to talk about it
- 25:34Speaker 1: that much. Let's focus on what we got in common, baby,
- 25:38Speaker 1: what we got in common. All right, coming up next,
- 25:39Speaker 1: we got more playoff talk here on The Right Time.

- 28:16Speaker 1: We mentioned very briefly that the Steelers, they're going to
- 28:20Speaker 1: be playing against Houston. Hey, man, Texans, that's the Monday
- 28:24Speaker 1: night game. Hey, Mike Tomlin, be careful. That's an isolated game.
- 28:28Speaker 1: At the very least, you want to keep that one close,
- 28:30Speaker 1: and it is possible that the Texans can blow their
- 28:32Speaker 1: doors off.
- 28:33Speaker 2: Yeah, and yeah, it's prime time.
- 28:36Speaker 3: Everybody's going to be locked in, and It's not only,
- 28:38Speaker 3: there's another thing like you, I think it was a
- 28:40Speaker 3: long time ago when you started like bringing attention to
- 28:43Speaker 3: these Island games and how important they were, which I
- 28:45Speaker 3: started to notice recently is it's not just the Island game,
- 28:49Speaker 3: but it's the last game before the next day of programming.
- 28:54Speaker 1: And it's like- A1, A1 on the rundown.
- 28:58Speaker 3: What? So the Thursday night games, you better not have
- 29:02Speaker 3: a bad showing on a Thursday night because we ain't
- 29:05Speaker 3: got nothing to do on Friday.
- 29:06Speaker 2: You better not. You better not show.
- 29:08Speaker 3: So the thing on the Thursday night is worse because
- 29:11Speaker 3: the Monday night, we still going to talk about what
- 29:13Speaker 3: happened on the weekend. We're going to start with what
- 29:15Speaker 3: happened last night. But when you had a Thursday night game,
- 29:18Speaker 3: we projected nothing. You give us something to talk about.
- 29:21Speaker 3: So this is similar to that because it's a Monday
- 29:23Speaker 3: night game on the playoffs. And it's also the Steelers.
- 29:26Speaker 3: They're like one of these public teams that everyone loves
- 29:29Speaker 3: to talk about. And you better hope there's some some
- 29:32Speaker 3: madness over the weekend, because if it's not, I guess
- 29:35Speaker 3: it doesn't matter because it feels.
- 29:36Speaker 2: Like if there's any ownership group that doesn't respond.
- 29:40Speaker 3: To the fans' outrage, it might be the Steelers, but
- 29:42Speaker 3: we are going to tear his ass up on Tuesday
- 29:46Speaker 3: morning if it don't look good on Monday night.
- 29:48Speaker 1: And the part of it is when they lose these
- 29:52Speaker 1: games and they don't play well, it don't be looking
- 29:56Speaker 1: in spite of him. He keeps it, and I don't
- 30:00Speaker 1: mean this pejoratively, but it's not a complex approach, at
- 30:04Speaker 1: least it doesn't seem like, to what they do there, right?
- 30:06Speaker 1: It's kind of a do what you're supposed to do,
- 30:08Speaker 1: and then everything from there will work itself out. But
- 30:12Speaker 1: they're running up on a team that's just got a
- 30:14Speaker 1: different level of talent than they have.
- 30:17Speaker 2: Especially, I mean, obviously, on defense.
- 30:19Speaker 3: This actually is not the worst matchup for them. It's
- 30:22Speaker 3: like their front could potentially, their defensive front could dominate
- 30:28Speaker 3: the Texans offense, which could keep the game close, but
- 30:33Speaker 3: in their favor is they don't have to start throwing
- 30:36Speaker 3: short passes and screens just because they scared of this
- 30:39Speaker 3: pass rush.
- 30:40Speaker 2: They scared of every pass rush. They that's their offense.
- 30:43Speaker 3: So that would be the argument for them, but there's
- 30:46Speaker 3: no weak spots on, on this defense and the Steelers offense.
- 30:50Speaker 3: They get DK back, which helps, but they don't feel
- 30:53Speaker 3: like they have an advantage anywhere on that side of
- 30:56Speaker 3: the ball.
- 30:57Speaker 1: Yeah, now I can take this back to coaching carousel
- 30:59Speaker 1: because that carousel ain't really finished. Saturday night might be
- 31:04Speaker 1: Matt LaFleur's last game as the coach of the Packers.
- 31:08Speaker 1: Sunday at 1 o'clock, low-key could be Sean McDermott's last
- 31:12Speaker 1: game because they got the Jacksonville. They play against Jacksonville
- 31:15Speaker 1: on the road, and it just ain't for so long
- 31:18Speaker 1: that you can keep going with this. It's kind of
- 31:19Speaker 1: what happened with Harbaugh. It's only for so long that
- 31:21Speaker 1: coaching quarterback can keep going and not wind up at
- 31:24Speaker 1: least playing for the championship. before somebody decides to make
- 31:27Speaker 1: a decision. And LeFleur, I don't really know what's going
- 31:30Speaker 1: on there. I seem to think more highly of him
- 31:32Speaker 1: than his bosses do.
- 31:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that those situations are slightly different in
- 31:38Speaker 3: that the Bills situation seems obviously much more like the
- 31:42Speaker 3: Lamar situations where they gonna holler at my man after
- 31:46Speaker 3: he's all said and done and be like, hey, hey, menace,
- 31:49Speaker 3: do you believe?
- 31:50Speaker 2: All right, we good.
- 31:52Speaker 3: And if the menace take a second to think about it,
- 31:54Speaker 3: they're going to be like, oh, what's it like? Let's
- 31:57Speaker 3: go look around. But I think the LeFleur thing in
- 32:01Speaker 3: Green Bay is definitely different. And Stefanski became an attractive
- 32:07Speaker 3: candidate because of this year's crop. As soon as he
- 32:10Speaker 3: got fired, I think that LeFleur, his contract is expiring soon, right?
- 32:14Speaker 3: That's the major situation there. Next year, I think, will
- 32:19Speaker 3: be the lame duck year. Oh, next year will be
- 32:22Speaker 3: the lame duck year.
- 32:23Speaker 1: I think so.
- 32:23Speaker 2: Right, right, right, right.
- 32:25Speaker 3: So he has one more year. Coaches don't go into
- 32:28Speaker 3: a contract with the final year of the contract. It
- 32:31Speaker 3: never really happens unless it's one of these particularly cheap teams.
- 32:35Speaker 3: So this is the extension time, right? So he has
- 32:37Speaker 3: the rest of this year and then next year, right?
- 32:39Speaker 2: Yes.
- 32:40Speaker 3: Yeah, so normally because and whether it's true or not,
- 32:43Speaker 3: but because they want the coach to have ultimate power
- 32:46Speaker 3: and respect in the locker room, they won't let a
- 32:48Speaker 3: coach coach his lame duck season. So this is effectively
- 32:52Speaker 3: a year where they have to give him an extension
- 32:55Speaker 3: or move on from him. So he might be looking around.
- 32:58Speaker 3: The problem is he got a quarterback and a, and
- 33:01Speaker 3: a team that seems to consistently with good accounts, goodie man,
- 33:04Speaker 3: he'd be filling.
- 33:05Speaker 2: That roster man consistently. Like I wouldn't want to go nowhere.
- 33:09Speaker 3: However, he might be someone who's like, man, let me
- 33:11Speaker 3: get up out of here because right now it's a
- 33:14Speaker 3: buyer's market, man.
- 33:16Speaker 2: It's a buyer's market.
- 33:17Speaker 3: And he might want to get out there as a
- 33:18Speaker 3: quarterback guy and, because there's tons of good defensive assistants
- 33:22Speaker 3: out there. But if you're a mediocre offensive guy, they're
- 33:26Speaker 3: going to move you to the top of the list
- 33:27Speaker 3: because they have this foolish misconception that they are smarter
- 33:30Speaker 3: over there than we.
- 33:31Speaker 2: Are over here.
- 33:32Speaker 1: Now, can you imagine a world in which Lamar Jackson
- 33:35Speaker 1: tries to get himself out of Baltimore? Because he kind
- 33:37Speaker 1: of could if he wanted to, right? Like, no guaranteed
- 33:40Speaker 1: money left on his deal, a crazy high cap. Like,
- 33:43Speaker 1: they got to do something with his deal pronto. Yeah.
- 33:46Speaker 3: I mean, I assume that this was the first step
- 33:48Speaker 3: and that's the interesting thing about like, I know the
- 33:52Speaker 3: thing about him not having an agent comes up often,
- 33:54Speaker 3: but him not having an agent and also him not
- 33:57Speaker 3: being like super gregarious is like, I wouldn't have made
- 34:01Speaker 3: this move unless I had an understanding. Like I would
- 34:05Speaker 3: love him being unique in that way is I would
- 34:09Speaker 3: normally make the leap that they got that figured out.
- 34:13Speaker 2: Right.
- 34:13Speaker 3: It's like, this was a conversation. If this was, just
- 34:16Speaker 3: about any other player, I'd be like, oh, well, if
- 34:18Speaker 3: they did that, that means they got that figured out.
- 34:21Speaker 3: Because they don't want to end up in a world
- 34:22Speaker 3: where they have neither of those guys.
- 34:24Speaker 2: Right.
- 34:24Speaker 1: I just know our man Kravitz had a great idea.
- 34:27Speaker 1: Lamar forced himself to Atlanta. LeFleur, find your way to
- 34:31Speaker 1: Atlanta and let Matt LeFleur have Lamar Jackson, B. John Robinson,
- 34:35Speaker 1: Kyle Pitts, and Drake London. Now, of course, the Falcons
- 34:37Speaker 1: don't have a first-round pick this year, which would make
- 34:38Speaker 1: it very difficult for them to make that move. But
- 34:41Speaker 1: good God, if that happened, they'd never have to throw.
- 34:44Speaker 2: In that division.
- 34:46Speaker 1: They're playing bums.
- 34:48Speaker 3: Go ahead and get that bye every year. Go ahead
- 34:50Speaker 3: and get that bye every year. Keep the defensive coordinator.
- 34:57Speaker 1: Hey, you ever think that Arthur Blank feel bad about
- 35:00Speaker 1: holding the line about that Lamar Jackson thing a couple
- 35:03Speaker 1: years ago when they was all colluding to not give
- 35:06Speaker 1: him some deal? I'm like, you was too old to
- 35:08Speaker 1: be acting like this, dog.
- 35:09Speaker 2: I don't know, man. I can't imagine that that It's
- 35:16Speaker 2: so dumb.
- 35:17Speaker 1: Arthur Blank renegotiating his deal. You know what I'm saying?
- 35:22Speaker 1: Every year. There's a big cap hit looming right around
- 35:26Speaker 1: the corner every day for Arthur Blank. And instead of
- 35:30Speaker 1: finding a way to make it happen, renegotiate. Nah, man.
- 35:34Speaker 1: He should have been like, fuck y'all. What you want,
- 35:36Speaker 1: young man? You come play for us.
- 35:39Speaker 2: Yeah, y'all can be mad at me.
- 35:40Speaker 1: I mean, y'all wind up, they traded picks to get, what,
- 35:42Speaker 1: the James Pierce dude. Did they have to move some
- 35:44Speaker 1: stuff around to get? No, they did not move things
- 35:46Speaker 1: around to get Michael Penix. They just gave Kirk Cousins
- 35:50Speaker 1: a zillion dollars. Come on. And then drafted a quarterback
- 35:53Speaker 1: with a first-round pick. Come on, dog.
- 35:55Speaker 2: That was absurd, especially when Lamar was gettable. Yeah, yeah, yeah, nah.
- 36:04Speaker 1: What you think about their 49ers-Eagles game? Because I watched
- 36:06Speaker 1: the 49ers play last week for the first time, and
- 36:09Speaker 1: I don't know how long. And I told you, they
- 36:10Speaker 1: had 11 dudes on defense. I ain't never heard of
- 36:12Speaker 1: 10 of them. And the 11th, I saw Patrick Mahomes
- 36:14Speaker 1: walk through on the goal line one time.
- 36:17Speaker 2: Yeah, they in trouble, man.
- 36:20Speaker 3: And you saw that offense that seemed unstoppable get stopped
- 36:23Speaker 3: by a really good defense.
- 36:24Speaker 2: They going up against another really good defense. And I think.
- 36:29Speaker 3: which will, if nothing else, slow that offense. But their
- 36:32Speaker 3: defense is not a sophisticated, complicated defense. And when you
- 36:37Speaker 3: have something like that, you got to have players, right?
- 36:40Speaker 3: You can't, like, I'd say Brian Flores, I think, will
- 36:46Speaker 3: elevate guys and take, he's capable of taking guys because
- 36:49Speaker 3: the defense will trick and confuse people. That 49ers, since
- 36:53Speaker 3: Kyle Shanahan's been there and through a number of coordinators,
- 36:56Speaker 3: it's never been complicated.
- 36:59Speaker 2: It's like, we gonna whoop that ass and we're not
- 37:01Speaker 2: gonna confuse ourselves.
- 37:02Speaker 3: We're gonna play zone on the back end and whoop
- 37:05Speaker 3: that ass up front. You ain't got no ass whoopers
- 37:08Speaker 3: up there no more, man. You saw what the Eagles
- 37:12Speaker 3: look like when they played some bad defenses late in
- 37:14Speaker 3: the season.
- 37:15Speaker 2: They played the Raiders and they played the Commanders. They scored.
- 37:18Speaker 2: They moved the ball. So I don't see the.
- 37:21Speaker 3: It's nuts because the 49ers were a few points away
- 37:24Speaker 3: from being the number one overall seed, but honestly don't
- 37:26Speaker 3: see them putting up too much of a fight.
- 37:28Speaker 1: Against If they had won that game, they wouldn't have
- 37:30Speaker 1: had to leave the crib until 2026. Well, I guess
- 37:34Speaker 1: it is 2026, but you understand what I'm saying. The
- 37:37Speaker 1: official 2026 season. They would have had home field advantage
- 37:40Speaker 1: and the Super Bowl was at the crib if they
- 37:42Speaker 1: managed to get that far. Now, they was never going
- 37:44Speaker 1: to get that far.
- 37:45Speaker 2: They can't stay healthy, man.
- 37:47Speaker 1: Nah, look, man, I just need the Eagles to keep
- 37:49Speaker 1: it fun, baby. That's the thing about this. If the
- 37:52Speaker 1: Eagles could just keep it. It's a role game, too,
- 37:54Speaker 1: so you never know what might happen. Like, the Eagles
- 37:57Speaker 1: need to just keep this close and then barely win.
- 37:59Speaker 1: And Sirianni seemed way too confident in himself. So we
- 38:02Speaker 1: could have clips of A.J. Brown looking at him again, like,
- 38:06Speaker 1: look at this. You see that? Look at this fool, man.
- 38:10Speaker 3: Yeah, after that Bills game, man. It was a bad throw, man.
- 38:15Speaker 3: It was a bad throw. And some great defense by
- 38:19Speaker 3: young Vic Fangio. I guess not young, but Vic Fangio
- 38:22Speaker 3: and those guys. And he was walking through the locker
- 38:24Speaker 3: room or walking through that tunnel like, Like he just
- 38:27Speaker 3: adjusted the shit out of that thing. Like he out
- 38:29Speaker 3: adjusted everybody at half Tyler, man.
- 38:33Speaker 1: AJ does not take you seriously at all.
- 38:39Speaker 2: You saw Miles Garrett rolling his eyes at Stefanski.
- 38:42Speaker 1: Oh my God. That was so funny. He's like, I
- 38:44Speaker 1: don't lie.
- 38:45Speaker 2: And he was like, it was magical.
- 38:50Speaker 1: Like you think we don't know that like that, that
- 38:53Speaker 1: was that. Honestly, if I had been Jimmy Haslam and
- 38:56Speaker 1: I had been thinking about keeping him and then I
- 38:58Speaker 1: saw that video.
- 39:01Speaker 2: Now you got to go job.
- 39:02Speaker 3: Yeah. To be fair, you can go on the roster,
- 39:05Speaker 3: any roster and find some players who don't like their coach.
- 39:09Speaker 3: But if it's Miles Garrett giving the side-eye, we can't
- 39:12Speaker 3: play that.
- 39:13Speaker 2: Well, hold on.
- 39:13Speaker 1: It's the side-eye, and he wasn't side-eyeing into space. He
- 39:18Speaker 1: clearly had locked eyes with somebody else. Clearly, that sounded
- 39:23Speaker 1: like they'd be talking all the time about how he'd
- 39:26Speaker 1: be lying.
- 39:27Speaker 2: He's like, I don't lie. Have I ever lied to you?
- 39:32Speaker 1: I would love to get a list. Like the NFLPA
- 39:35Speaker 1: needs to do that where they got to take the survey.
- 39:38Speaker 1: of the facilities and the cafeteria and all those different things.
- 39:43Speaker 1: Like a list of who be lying, like a Pinocchio
- 39:47Speaker 1: index of coaches where they just be lying. Like they
- 39:50Speaker 1: be lying about stuff that you ain't even got to
- 39:52Speaker 1: lie about.
- 39:54Speaker 3: That's the thing is that the coaches who should be
- 39:57Speaker 3: against the PA doing something like that are the coaches
- 40:01Speaker 3: who don't lie. Because you know what that's going to do?
- 40:05Speaker 3: That's going to encourage the rest of y'all to be decent.
- 40:08Speaker 2: Yes. And that might make you better coaches.
- 40:10Speaker 3: Like, we're not stupid. We know what's going on here.
- 40:14Speaker 3: Tell me the truth, and I'll believe in you. I'll
- 40:17Speaker 3: run through a wall and tell me the truth. Oh, no, see,
- 40:19Speaker 3: this is where I disagree with you. It's because them cats,
- 40:22Speaker 3: they just be lying.
- 40:25Speaker 1: It's a lifestyle. So you can tell everybody that they
- 40:28Speaker 1: be lying, and you know what they going to do?
- 40:30Speaker 1: Lie about the fact that they be lying. That's fair.
- 40:35Speaker 1: There's no truth that a lie can't fix.
- 40:38Speaker 2: That's true. You don't think that there is... I agree
- 40:42Speaker 2: that there are some people.
- 40:43Speaker 3: I've been around long enough to know some people, they
- 40:46Speaker 3: just be lying. But you don't think there's some middle
- 40:50Speaker 3: ground of people who are lying for advantage or lying
- 40:53Speaker 3: for ease. It's like, I go see this player, it's
- 40:56Speaker 3: much easier to tell him that he got a chance
- 40:58Speaker 3: to make this team and that he's starting or he's
- 41:02Speaker 3: benched because the guy in front of him is better
- 41:04Speaker 3: than him. Or the guy in front of him, or
- 41:07Speaker 3: you tell him whatever you got to tell him. This
- 41:08Speaker 3: guy is, he's better in this position because of whatever reason.
- 41:12Speaker 3: Then to be honest and be like, look, we got
- 41:14Speaker 3: a lot of money tied up in him. He going
- 41:15Speaker 3: to get all the chances.
- 41:16Speaker 1: Or is this a matter of, because the guys that
- 41:20Speaker 1: you just described right there, they don't have that much leverage.
- 41:23Speaker 1: So like finding out who be lying, they don't really
- 41:25Speaker 1: get to do something about it. How about if we
- 41:27Speaker 1: could somehow like, you know how you got like adjusted
- 41:30Speaker 1: DVO way, adjusted net yards per attempt, right? The lion
- 41:35Speaker 1: is adjusted for how good a player is or is not.
- 41:39Speaker 1: Like you can't be lying to your best player, but
- 41:42Speaker 1: you can lie to these bums. Maybe you got a
- 41:44Speaker 1: little bit more leeway in that regard.
- 41:47Speaker 2: I like next-gen lion statistics. We got the advanced analytics
- 41:50Speaker 2: on you. Live VOA.
- 41:53Speaker 1: We on live VOA, right? Like, is it different? And
- 41:56Speaker 1: so people don't know how DVOA works. It works from
- 41:58Speaker 1: down to down. And so if you get 10 yards
- 42:02Speaker 1: on second and eight, that is treated as more impactful
- 42:05Speaker 1: than getting 10 yards on second and 17, right? It's
- 42:09Speaker 1: as a function of yards to go is the way
- 42:12Speaker 1: that they come up with the formula. And so, yeah, man,
- 42:15Speaker 1: if you, you know, these 30 and 18 cats on
- 42:17Speaker 1: the bottom, tell them all kinds of lies. You know,
- 42:21Speaker 1: but that 31 up there, you better be straight up
- 42:24Speaker 1: with him.
- 42:24Speaker 2: I can't tell you no lies, man.
- 42:28Speaker 3: That's absolutely right.
- 42:31Speaker 1: Brother, I can't even lie. I can't lie to you. Yeah.
- 42:34Speaker 2: Uh-uh. I'm going to keep it real with you. You
- 42:36Speaker 2: can tell who you want to tell.
- 42:37Speaker 3: Maybe you can tell them the truth, but I'm going
- 42:40Speaker 3: to keep it real with you.
- 42:41Speaker 2: Oh, gosh.
- 42:42Speaker 1: And in football, it seemed like the kind of place where, like,
- 42:45Speaker 1: you might as well just tell the truth.
- 42:48Speaker 3: That's my thought, man. I never got the coaches who
- 42:51Speaker 3: was out there lying to anybody, even the second and
- 42:55Speaker 3: 18 guys.
- 42:56Speaker 2: Like, we ain't dumb. We know the deal.
- 42:58Speaker 3: By the time you got here, especially these modern players
- 43:01Speaker 3: who are in college in a way that's more professional
- 43:03Speaker 3: than it's ever been, who are transferring from year to year.
- 43:06Speaker 2: Like, let's keep it real, man. Like, my hands are
- 43:08Speaker 2: tied on some things. I want to do this.
- 43:10Speaker 3: I know Jeff told on my show the other day, Saturday,
- 43:13Speaker 3: was talking about how his O-line coach back in the
- 43:17Speaker 3: day was like, look, we all working towards the same thing.
- 43:20Speaker 2: I'm going to tell you how I want to do it.
- 43:22Speaker 3: If you do it your way out there, better work.
- 43:25Speaker 3: But if you do it my way, I can tell
- 43:26Speaker 3: you how to fix it. But, like, we all going
- 43:28Speaker 3: to get fired. Like, I don't want to fight you.
- 43:30Speaker 3: That's the thing that coaches make that mistake all the
- 43:32Speaker 3: time where it's like it's such– They're so like incentivized
- 43:36Speaker 3: to be top down.
- 43:36Speaker 2: It was like the best teams I ever.
- 43:38Speaker 3: Been around was the ones where we was much closer
- 43:42Speaker 3: to peers and we would be honest about it.
- 43:44Speaker 2: Like, yeah, we got to do this. I don't feel
- 43:47Speaker 2: comfortable about this matchup. You know what?
- 43:49Speaker 3: I would never say that to anybody who I didn't
- 43:51Speaker 3: trust and believe in. Right.
- 43:55Speaker 2: I'm not lying. I got him. Don't worry.
- 43:57Speaker 1: I got him.
- 43:58Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Worried as hell.
- 44:00Speaker 3: No, I don't want no safety over here. You know
- 44:03Speaker 3: how many times I told him I ain't need no
- 44:04Speaker 3: safety help? Never tell nobody I need no safety help,
- 44:07Speaker 3: but I was hoping. I was hoping that he knew.
- 44:09Speaker 1: You want to slide a little something over there, baby.
- 44:13Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I mean, if you need
- 44:16Speaker 2: it somewhere else, go ahead. You put it over there.
- 44:18Speaker 2: But I'm just saying, if he ain't spoken for.
- 44:23Speaker 1: If he ain't doing nothing else.
- 44:24Speaker 2: Bring him on over here.
- 44:27Speaker 1: Just a couple steps.
- 44:28Speaker 2: A couple steps. Yeah, this show. This show's in color
- 44:31Speaker 2: over there.
- 44:33Speaker 1: Hey, how bad would it look for Justin Herbert? if Drake,
- 44:36Speaker 1: if they going on the road to play against new England,
- 44:38Speaker 1: but if, if Drake made a quarterback over there and
- 44:41Speaker 1: he out plays Justin Herbert, I mean, let's not forget
- 44:43Speaker 1: Justin Herbert was out there when they blew that lead
- 44:46Speaker 1: to the Jaguars that year.
- 44:49Speaker 3: I think the thing with Justin Herbert is he's got
- 44:51Speaker 3: so much.
- 44:53Speaker 2: He's already got the built in excuse.
- 44:54Speaker 3: I think we look at this season for Jeff, Justin
- 44:57Speaker 3: Herbert already as a demonstration and over and overcoming. Like
- 45:03Speaker 3: it's not only that he lost his tackles, is that
- 45:06Speaker 3: that team was built around having two incredible tackles. And
- 45:11Speaker 3: you didn't go from, like, having one good tackle or
- 45:14Speaker 3: two mediocre tackles to having, like, bad offensive line. You
- 45:18Speaker 3: went from saying, like, yeah, we don't got the best
- 45:22Speaker 3: receiver in the league, but, you know, we got these
- 45:24Speaker 3: tackles that we can do whatever we want with that. So, like, ultimately,
- 45:28Speaker 3: I think if I'd have told you, not if I'd
- 45:30Speaker 3: have told you, before this season started, when they was
- 45:32Speaker 3: all hurt, I was like, damn, lost year.
- 45:35Speaker 2: So it feels unfair.
- 45:36Speaker 3: Well, maybe people will do it, but it honestly, it
- 45:38Speaker 3: feels unfair to, I guess it depends on how he plays,
- 45:42Speaker 3: but it feels unfair to then go and be like, eh, Justin.
- 45:45Speaker 2: Herbert, you do stink. Nah, kind of overachieved, all things considered.
- 45:51Speaker 1: I want to bring up one last thing before we
- 45:55Speaker 1: start wrapping this up to get out of here. And
- 45:58Speaker 1: I don't know if you saw this. What you know
- 46:00Speaker 1: about Jendricus?
- 46:05Speaker 2: Hold on, hold on.
- 46:05Speaker 1: Y'all know about Ginger Cuz?
- 46:07Speaker 2: Hold on.
- 46:07Speaker 1: I got to send you. I've been saving this all
- 46:09Speaker 1: week to show you Ginger Cuz. I don't really understand.
- 46:16Speaker 1: I want to know the full thought process on this.
- 46:18Speaker 1: But for those who don't know, I've just sent this
- 46:20Speaker 1: to Dominique. And I think that they'll be able to
- 46:22Speaker 1: put this on the screen for YouTube.
- 46:24Speaker 2: But when the.
- 46:25Speaker 1: Seahawks were named division champs, Marshawn Lynch sent out a tweet.
- 46:29Speaker 1: And it was a picture with a bunch of guys
- 46:31Speaker 1: on the team. Um, and the demographics were largely as
- 46:34Speaker 1: an NFL team goes and Marshawn Lynch sent a tweet
- 46:37Speaker 1: because Marshawn Lynch somehow gets to say whatever he wants.
- 46:41Speaker 1: And his tweet said, and I will quote, but not
- 46:44Speaker 1: quote good shit, young in words. And then it's like,
- 46:48Speaker 1: he looked around the room and said, and ginger cuz
- 46:52Speaker 1: in reference to Sam Darnold. So Sam Darnold is now
- 46:55Speaker 1: hashtag ginger cuz.
- 46:58Speaker 2: You know what?
- 46:59Speaker 3: The thing that jumps out to me the most is like,
- 47:03Speaker 3: if I'm Cooper Cupp, am I complimented or offended?
- 47:06Speaker 2: Like, are you including me or are you excluding me? Like,
- 47:10Speaker 2: am I part of the crew?
- 47:11Speaker 1: Well, first of all, in this picture, Cooper Cupp looked
- 47:15Speaker 1: like he in the same rap group with that white
- 47:17Speaker 1: boy off of Beverly Hills 90210 that used to be rapping. Like,
- 47:21Speaker 1: he got curls and stuff. Like, he looked like he
- 47:24Speaker 1: had a boy band out there, right?
- 47:26Speaker 3: Uh but he's a bad boy though but he's a
- 47:28Speaker 3: bad boy yeah yeah he got a leather jacket and
- 47:30Speaker 3: holy deeds that's fair but.
- 47:32Speaker 5: Yeah he calls he calls sam darlin jim because have
- 47:35Speaker 5: you seen uh marcus teague jeff teague's brother on 520
- 47:38Speaker 5: telling the story about how they was somewhere and uh
- 47:43Speaker 5: he was with the celtics and jason collins was on
- 47:46Speaker 5: the team and they i think they ain't going to
- 47:47Speaker 5: china somewhere and again we're going to paraphrase here um
- 47:52Speaker 5: And Kevin Garnett's getting everybody hype.
- 47:53Speaker 1: And he's like, yeah, we're going to have all the girls.
- 47:56Speaker 2: Hell yeah.
- 47:57Speaker 1: And then he looked at Jason Collins and was like, oh,
- 47:59Speaker 1: we're going to get something for you too.
- 48:05Speaker 2: We got something.
- 48:05Speaker 1: We're going to get something for you too. And that's
- 48:12Speaker 1: kind of how Ginger Curz felt. Like keeping in mind
- 48:15Speaker 1: that he could have just completely edited his tweet.
- 48:18Speaker 7: It's written a bit differently to include everybody. No, no, no.
- 48:23Speaker 7: That is not a good tweet. An edited tweet is
- 48:26Speaker 7: not a good tweet. You would not have shared it
- 48:28Speaker 7: with me if he was like, you know what?
- 48:29Speaker 2: Let me fix this.
- 48:31Speaker 3: Let me call them my brothers. Nah, I can't include that.
- 48:37Speaker 1: And ginger cuz.
- 48:39Speaker 2: KG, man, I did see that story. And it's funny.
- 48:42Speaker 3: It's how I feel about, like, we got to remember it's,
- 48:47Speaker 3: it's progress, you know?
- 48:48Speaker 2: Yes.
- 48:49Speaker 3: Like, and it don't always, I imagine that Kevin Garnett
- 48:52Speaker 3: grew up a lot. Like we grew up as far
- 48:54Speaker 3: as like the way that you feel and think about
- 48:56Speaker 3: things and the way that people around you talk about it.
- 48:58Speaker 1: That was a big jump up for him, for him
- 48:59Speaker 1: to be like, don't worry, brother, we will find what
- 49:02Speaker 1: works for you.
- 49:03Speaker 3: And I, this, this is something that I've been thinking
- 49:06Speaker 3: about it. Maybe this is something that I should not share.
- 49:09Speaker 3: Maybe I will share it as some, or maybe you'll
- 49:11Speaker 3: edit it out or whatever. But it's like, when I
- 49:14Speaker 3: think back on, times when we could have done something better.
- 49:18Speaker 2: As a society.
- 49:21Speaker 3: You got to congratulate people for progress that they've made.
- 49:26Speaker 1: I agree.
- 49:26Speaker 2: Like, that was the big thing. Like, I get it.
- 49:29Speaker 3: My football mindset is, let's get better. That one's behind us.
- 49:34Speaker 3: Let's get better. And while we should celebrate the people
- 49:38Speaker 3: who are in the places who have overcome, we also
- 49:41Speaker 3: got to remember to celebrate the people who encouraged and
- 49:47Speaker 3: allowed it to overcome.
- 49:48Speaker 2: Like February need to be about them too.
- 49:50Speaker 1: Brother, do you know how much I would love to
- 49:53Speaker 1: see some video of Kevin Garnett on the streets of Shanghai?
- 49:58Speaker 1: Try to find a.
- 49:58Speaker 4: Man for Jason Collins. Like, no, not me. My friend,
- 50:06Speaker 4: he over there. He's so determined, too. I don't think
- 50:10Speaker 4: he would let the language barrier get in the way.
- 50:12Speaker 3: That man, he gonna bang his head on the stanchion
- 50:16Speaker 3: and then hit the streets like, hey, what's up?
- 50:18Speaker 2: What you think? You all right?
- 50:19Speaker 1: And talking with his hands, right? Because you got to
- 50:22Speaker 1: talk with your hands when you don't speak the language, right?
- 50:25Speaker 1: It's like playing charades.
- 50:28Speaker 2: You got to try to come up. This is definitely
- 50:31Speaker 2: for not on air. Like the hand motions.
- 50:34Speaker 1: We keeping this. I'm not saying which hand motions.
- 50:37Speaker 2: No, no, no, no.
- 50:38Speaker 3: I'm saying the next part where I was going after that.
- 50:42Speaker 2: I was like, how are you wishing to communicate what
- 50:44Speaker 2: you want to communicate? No, no, no.
- 50:48Speaker 1: The next question for Marshawn Lynch is, does he know
- 50:52Speaker 1: Sam Darnold's name? Like, did he look at that picture
- 50:58Speaker 1: and was left uncertain which was Cooper Cup and which
- 51:00Speaker 1: was Sam Holt?
- 51:03Speaker 3: I think the prominence of the photo assumed it was
- 51:05Speaker 3: a quarterback. I think it's more likely that he did
- 51:08Speaker 3: not know his name, which, like, is consistent with the
- 51:12Speaker 3: trajectory that Marshawn Lynch is on.
- 51:15Speaker 2: As, like, he's headed fast for, like, cool-ass old dude. Yeah.
- 51:21Speaker 3: Cool-ass old dude don't know nobody's name. Nicknames for everybody.
- 51:25Speaker 1: What if he was like, hey, cuz, I didn't know
- 51:26Speaker 1: Andy Dalton was still playing, cuz?
- 51:30Speaker 3: Ginger cuz. I'm sure that's going to get picked up.
- 51:33Speaker 3: They probably got the t-shirts printed already. They're going to
- 51:35Speaker 3: be people at the game like ginger cuz.
- 51:38Speaker 2: Ginger cuz. Better get it together, though.
- 51:40Speaker 1: By the way, we're going to talk about them next
- 51:42Speaker 1: week because they don't play this week because they had
- 51:44Speaker 1: the best record in the NFC. They are really good.
- 51:50Speaker 1: And it really does only come down to Gentricus.
- 51:55Speaker 3: Boy, like, they were fortunate. So I did that game
- 51:59Speaker 3: with the playbook telecast. So, like, we dived deep into
- 52:02Speaker 3: the action. It was the first time I, like, kind
- 52:04Speaker 3: of called the game. And in preparing for that game,
- 52:07Speaker 3: I watched so much film and was not surprised at
- 52:12Speaker 3: what I saw on the field by the film that
- 52:13Speaker 3: I watched. And he made a really great play on
- 52:15Speaker 3: the third and ten where he scrambled until somebody got
- 52:17Speaker 3: open and connected it late in the game. But the
- 52:19Speaker 3: way that they were calling that game, and you get
- 52:22Speaker 3: the all 22 when you watch the playbook way, and
- 52:26Speaker 3: it was not great, man.
- 52:27Speaker 2: It was not great.
- 52:28Speaker 3: They got so fortunate that that 49ers defense couldn't stop
- 52:32Speaker 3: the run. They're a team that doesn't run the ball well.
- 52:33Speaker 3: They ran it well better recently or lately, but they
- 52:37Speaker 3: don't run the ball well. They're most likely going to
- 52:38Speaker 3: run into some teams that's going to force Ginger Cuz
- 52:41Speaker 3: to make some plays, and the coaches don't believe in
- 52:44Speaker 3: Ginger Cuz at this point.
- 52:45Speaker 1: Dude, it's year eight of this season. And we still hold,
- 52:49Speaker 1: they still, I ain't going to say we, because it's they.
- 52:52Speaker 1: And yeah, I mean they. Still hold now hope for
- 52:56Speaker 1: Jinder Cuzz, man. They refuse to give up on Jinder Cuzz.
- 52:59Speaker 3: But to be fair to them, as soon as they
- 53:02Speaker 3: was ready to give up on him, he was supposed
- 53:04Speaker 3: to be a bench warmer in Minnesota.
- 53:07Speaker 1: He went off. He did.
- 53:09Speaker 2: He did.
- 53:10Speaker 1: But hey, but look at the way the year before
- 53:12Speaker 1: that Shanahan was talking about him. Like it was still like,
- 53:16Speaker 1: We are in a world where the platonic ideal quarterback
- 53:19Speaker 1: for the most, like the kind of prototype type now
- 53:24Speaker 1: for offensive mind is Kirk Cousins. That is so insane.
- 53:31Speaker 1: You think so?
- 53:31Speaker 2: I feel like we've moved.
- 53:33Speaker 1: I mean, that's what Kyle has said for all this time.
- 53:35Speaker 1: The fact that his brain ever said that. But all
- 53:37Speaker 1: these guys, it's the new West Coast offense in the
- 53:40Speaker 1: sense that they just like, hey, if you just do
- 53:42Speaker 1: what I say, but you got to lose. And it's
- 53:46Speaker 1: never that simple, guys.
- 53:48Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 53:49Speaker 3: And, I mean, Kyle stumbled into a guy in Purdy
- 53:53Speaker 3: who is not that.
- 53:55Speaker 1: That is very true.
- 53:57Speaker 2: He's not that.
- 53:57Speaker 3: Like, the one thing that I'll give Purdy that falls
- 54:00Speaker 3: into that category is he will trust the play.
- 54:04Speaker 2: Yes.
- 54:05Speaker 3: And he'll throw. Like, he talks about this often. He'll
- 54:07Speaker 3: throw blindly. But Purdy, my man, hit that Dougie like
- 54:11Speaker 3: he is. his play style is consistent with the way
- 54:14Speaker 3: that he behaves out there. And I think you got
- 54:17Speaker 3: to have some of that. You got to have a
- 54:19Speaker 3: little bit of that variable out there. And ginger cuz
- 54:22Speaker 3: don't bring that variable too much, man.
- 54:25Speaker 1: High stakes for gender cuz we going to see. But
- 54:28Speaker 1: that is Dominique Foxworth. Check him out on the Dominique
- 54:32Speaker 1: Foxworth show available. We're all fine podcast giving away for free.
- 54:36Speaker 1: My brother, I appreciate you.
- 54:37Speaker 2: Thank you, sir.
- 54:38Speaker 6: All right, Bo, before we get out of here, we're
- 54:40Speaker 6: going to do three quick questions presented by FanDuel. Peach
- 54:43Speaker 6: Bowl is tonight. Oregon playing Indiana. Indiana favored by three
- 54:47Speaker 6: and a half points. Do you expect this big run
- 54:51Speaker 6: by Indiana and Kurt Cignetti to continue tonight?
- 54:54Speaker 1: I expect it to continue. Look, they beat Oregon in
- 54:57Speaker 1: their own house a.
- 54:58Speaker 2: Couple of months ago.
- 55:00Speaker 1: Maybe Dan Lanning will just cook up the magic formula
- 55:02Speaker 1: to come out here and beat them. But I have
- 55:05Speaker 1: no reason to think that Indiana is going to lose
- 55:07Speaker 1: to anybody based on what we see. Right.
- 55:09Speaker 6: I mean, they've had the best coach all year. They've had,
- 55:11Speaker 6: you know, we've had our questions about Mendoza, but he's
- 55:13Speaker 6: been the best quarterback all year and on a neutral side.
- 55:16Speaker 6: You know, it sort of just feels like their year.
- 55:20Speaker 6: everything that's happened. Reports came out Thursday. Kurt Cignetti looks
- 55:24Speaker 6: like he's getting a contract extension. He's going to be
- 55:27Speaker 6: paid $ 12. 5 million per year. Mark Cuban's coming in on
- 55:31Speaker 6: their NIL. Do you think he's the best coach in
- 55:33Speaker 6: college football right now?
- 55:35Speaker 1: I mean, he had the best coaching season in the world.
- 55:39Speaker 1: I say the world, and I mean that literally.
- 55:41Speaker 2: Right.
- 55:42Speaker 1: Last year.
- 55:42Speaker 2: Right.
- 55:44Speaker 1: And then he did it again this year, except even better.
- 55:48Speaker 1: It's the most impressive coaching thing that I could think
- 55:50Speaker 1: of anybody ever pulling off. Who's better? If somebody's better,
- 55:55Speaker 1: I can't tell you who that person is right now.
- 55:57Speaker 1: It's almost at that point now where when you talk
- 56:00Speaker 1: about who the greatest rapper of all time is, maybe
- 56:03Speaker 1: you don't have the same answer as me, but there's
- 56:06Speaker 1: some people who have to be in the discussion. This
- 56:08Speaker 1: man in two years has absolutely put himself at the
- 56:11Speaker 1: top of the discussion.
- 56:12Speaker 2: Right.
- 56:12Speaker 6: You go 25 and two at Indiana and, and, you know,
- 56:17Speaker 6: Bloomington of all places. And then, you know, currently the
- 56:20Speaker 6: favorites to win the national title.
- 56:21Speaker 1: And the two were against Ohio state Notre Dame last year,
- 56:24Speaker 1: if I recall.
- 56:25Speaker 5: Right.
- 56:25Speaker 6: But yeah, Ohio state who won the national title last
- 56:28Speaker 6: year and Notre Dame, who was the runner up.
- 56:30Speaker 5: Yes.
- 56:30Speaker 6: So that's a, Again, an absurd job from a coach
- 56:34Speaker 6: coming from James Madison. And finally, a lot of rumors
- 56:37Speaker 6: have come around as quarterbacks start to clarify the draft,
- 56:39Speaker 6: what Oregon quarterback Dante Moore is going to do. If
- 56:43Speaker 6: you were Dante Moore, would you stay at Oregon and
- 56:45Speaker 6: get drafted to get possibly drafted by the New York Jets?
- 56:49Speaker 1: Hey, man, for the money that it looked like these
- 56:51Speaker 1: college quarterbacks are getting, I would much rather make $ 5
- 56:55Speaker 1: million a year playing for Oregon. than to make $ 10
- 56:58Speaker 1: million a year playing for the fucking Jets. I can't
- 57:00Speaker 1: make this any clearer. I mean, there's no way around it.
- 57:04Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, no.
- 57:05Speaker 1: If I can keep getting this money and living this
- 57:07Speaker 1: college life, or I could go live with the misery
- 57:11Speaker 1: that has been the Jets, oh, no, no, no, no, no. Like,
- 57:14Speaker 1: if they told you you could play against the Jets,
- 57:16Speaker 1: at least then you know you'd never throw any interceptions.
- 57:18Speaker 1: Maybe we talking about something different, right?
- 57:20Speaker 2: But we not.
- 57:21Speaker 1: We talk about playing for the Jets. I would stay
- 57:25Speaker 1: with this good money I'm getting right now. All right,
- 57:29Speaker 1: ladies and gentlemen, thanks so much for joining us here
