- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville Jaguar's fans, welcome into Duval.
- 0:02[SPEAKER_00]: Daily presented by jing Jack.com and fueled by brass tax coffee right now.
- 0:05[SPEAKER_00]: We are getting into Jaguar's training camp practice number 8, which was their mock game, scrimmage, teal and white, whatever you want to call it, it was the scrimmage practice.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: It was the practice that normally would probably be in the bank, but they've got construction going on.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_00]: Jacks will have a walk through tomorrow.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be super short.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know my plan for that yet, but it's not something to where you would go out there and really report on anything too crazy from that practice because it's like literally a 45 minute walk through is all the media is allowed to view.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_00]: Then there will be a legitimate practice on Sunday and Monday and then
- 0:47[SPEAKER_00]: another walk through I think Tuesday and then you're off to New Orleans, I think that's the schedule.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_00]: But y'all aren't here for scheduling news.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_00]: You're here for what happened during this skirmish.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to get into it right now.
- 0:59[SPEAKER_00]: Really appreciate y'all being here.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_00]: You can also hit the high button.
- 1:03[SPEAKER_00]: So Trevor Lawrence, obviously everybody always wants to know how Trevor Lawrence performed, so it was a bit of a slow start for the Jaguar's passing offense, but they really did come alive and overall Trevor Lawrence finished the day 15 of 28.
- 1:18[SPEAKER_00]: He had a touchdown to Brian Thomas Jr. late, which was his last throw of practice.
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: He had a touchdown to Parker Washington as well, and let's see.
- 1:32[SPEAKER_00]: You have another touchdown?
- 1:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, he had a Lee Quint Allen touchdown reception as well.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_00]: So, short ones had three touchdowns, no interceptions today.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_00]: 15 of 28 started out like.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_00]: four of 10, and then after that point, I think it really kind of got, got going a little bit more.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_00]: And it was a lot of ones versus twos, twos versus ones as we've seen throughout training camp a lot.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_00]: So that is absolutely true, the context needs to be shared that it's not against the starters, but to this point, I think Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguar's offense, Anthony Camponele, Jaguar's defense,
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: These groups have shown you what they're made of.
- 2:17[SPEAKER_00]: They're in year two of this system, and they trade punches back and forth.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: Usually, it's like one of the groups kind of wins the day.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_00]: That's what we've had for this week where it was Jaguar's offense.
- 2:28[SPEAKER_00]: On the first day of pads did better.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: Second day of pads Jaguar's defense clearly did better.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_00]: Third day of pads Jaguar's offense did better.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_00]: Today, it really was like a lot of back and forth between the two sides, and it's a longer practice.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
- 2:41[SPEAKER_00]: They're scrimmaging for a legitimate hour and a half of scrimmaging between the ones, two, three, fours.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_00]: So, a lot of work done out there.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: I thought that the one-throw Trevor really, really would want back was a miscommunication with him and Brian Thomas Jr., where Liam Cohen talked about this after Prax.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_00]: And by the way, this will probably be the only show today.
- 3:06[SPEAKER_00]: Got some different things going on later on, but I'll have a show for you tomorrow and Sunday at least one on each of those days.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: So, we'll kind of make shift, get it covered, and have plenty of content for y'all.
- 3:16[SPEAKER_00]: But it was,
- 3:19[SPEAKER_00]: where a play where a BT can either hit the post or stack the defender and keep going outside.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_00]: And I think BT was kind of trying to stack and go outside to everyone's led him inside.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_00]: Can I, H, lovely, he got his hands on it, he should have intercepted it, he didn't.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes that happens, you know.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_00]: Corners don't always pick off passes, like they are not receivers for a reason usually.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah.
- 3:48[SPEAKER_00]: That's the one play that Trevor Lawrence would really like back.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_00]: Fortunately, it didn't cost the team because lovely didn't intercept the pass.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_00]: But three touchdown passes, no interceptions.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_00]: Really got it going a little bit later in practice.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_00]: I think Parker Washington was easily the most consistent receiver for Trevor Lawrence on the day.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_00]: You also had Brian Thomas Jr. having a pretty darn good day overall for himself.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_00]: Travis Hunter, they tried to get him the ball a couple times, Devon Marshall actually made a couple plays in coverage of Travis Hunter, whichever Lawrence throwing Devon Marshall's the rookie on draft of reagent out of NC State.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_00]: He had a good day.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_00]: I thought one of them was blatant passenger clearance.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_00]: They didn't call it, so it is what it is.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_00]: Looking through some of the other incompletion, or so, I think.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_00]: Definitely Parker and VP of the Widershooters with Trevor Loans throwing.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_00]: BT probably had the next most work.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: Jacobi Myers had some work.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_00]: Britain's strange had some work as well.
- 4:49[SPEAKER_00]: Um, the screen game, Liam Cohen said this right after the screen game did not get going.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_00]: The first play of practice was a screen to basal-tudent and it was incomplete and you completed some screens after that, but not with much success.
- 5:05[SPEAKER_00]: So that's kind of frustrating.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: Some other notable incompletions.
- 5:15[SPEAKER_00]: Yep.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_00]: So, tried to hit Jacobi Myers on kind of like a fade in the end zone.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_00]: Cory Valentine had good tight coverage on that.
- 5:23[SPEAKER_00]: And then Valentine also made a play on BTJ and the end zone on the other end where he was able to get a PBU and not let the ball get into BTJ's hands.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_00]: BTJ almost was able to like catch it off of the deflection, but he wasn't able to get it.
- 5:39[SPEAKER_00]: So, Valentine definitely had a very good day.
- 5:42[SPEAKER_00]: He's an experienced player in this league.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_00]: He's played a lot of football.
- 5:46[SPEAKER_00]: He started games Been around the league, so that's definitely somebody to keep an eye on as somebody who is Computing for maybe a practice squad spot.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe a So many tough sled and trying to make the active roster, but yeah
- 6:03[SPEAKER_00]: There was another incompletion that was pretty frustrating where inzone, travel orange, it's in between Chris Rodriguez and Hunter Long, both of them look at each other like who's going for it.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_00]: So obviously somebody needs to at least try to go for it in that situation.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: Had another one that it looked like a miscommunication with Brian Thomas Jr., so obviously they're going to look back at those two things.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_00]: but BT made plenty of plays in this one, including that touchdown to end Trevor Lawrence and the starting offense is day.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_00]: So Lawrence, I would say, let's see here, 15 of 28, so now he's entering the day.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_00]: He was 57 of 93 with nine touchdowns and three interceptions.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_00]: Now he is 57 plus 15, what is that?
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: 72.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_00]: Not a math gap, but I can usually do basic math.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_00]: 93 plus 28, I'm busting out the calculator folks, 93 plus 28, sounds like it's around 121, but I'm going to just confirm that.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_00]: 93 plus 28, 121.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, your boy had it.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_00]: So he is 72 of 121.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: And the reason I haven't done this already is because I literally just got back, try to hop on the mic and get this out for y'all as quick as I possibly can.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_00]: With three touchdown passes today, no interceptions.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_00]: One should have been intercepted, but it wasn't, so it doesn't count.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, he's now 72 of 12 touchdowns, three interceptions.
- 7:37[SPEAKER_00]: One thing I'll say.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_00]: It feels like there's just going to be days where Lawrence is closer to 50% completion than, you know, a lot of times these days you're looking for that efficiency where you're like 65% 63% plus, it's just not always going to happen.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: because this is an offense that does a good job pushing the ball down the field and really working like the eight to 30 yards down the field I feel like is where they're bread and butter maybe eight to 25 yards.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of those throws 15, 20, 25.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_00]: He has a high average depth of target.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_00]: The completion percentage just isn't necessarily going to be as high, but they're still going to get the job done a lot more often than not.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_00]: getting those.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously, you'd like to have a little bit more efficiency, but it does seem like Lawrence probably isn't going to be a quarterback that ever flirts with 70% completion percentage in a season or like 66, 66.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_00]: It's probably going to be a little bit closer to, you know, the low 60s.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_00]: Now, that could be absolutely wrong, but that's what we've seen from him so far throughout his career, and I think that's what you've seen so far throughout this training camp as well.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_00]: Overall, solid day for him.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: You know, after a really slow start, got it going, and I think the Jaguar starting offense did a good job.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_00]: I think they ran the ball pretty well, nothing too crazy, but there was some nice runs by two in Chris Rodriguez and company.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_00]: I'm here to do a lot of good day running the ball, but that's not what the starters.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: Something interesting about this scrimmage was there's no scripts like it was play caller, verse play caller, Liam Cohen didn't know what Campanile was going to be calling in vice versa.
- 9:18[SPEAKER_00]: So that was kind of fun and it felt like to me camp was definitely getting the better of Liam Cohen, especially when it came to the backup offense.
- 9:32[SPEAKER_00]: You score three touchdowns, throw in the football with the starters, Trevor Lawrence.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they moved, they moved the ball.
- 9:41[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, they weren't as efficient as they would like to be for sure, but they were moving the ball.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_00]: Now,
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: the first team and second team defense, versus and third team defense, versus the Jaguar's backups, that on offense is where you saw a really bad offense, basically the only group.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_00]: for the Jaguar's offense that was really able to consistently compete with the Jaguar's defense was the Jaguar starters.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguar's backup offense, whether it be two, three, et cetera, they struggled.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_00]: And you know CJ Williams had a decent practice, he made a nice play.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_00]: You saw your other rookie YGC for Josh Cameron to make a nice play, but outside of that, there was just not a lot going on.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguar's defense, Liam Cohen.
- 10:32[SPEAKER_00]: They were doing a better job than the offense, you know, Buster Brown went and gotten an interception.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_00]: That was a really impressive play for him.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: This is a player that I kind of am like, all right, he's been in sticky tight coverage, but there's still been a lot of completions on him.
- 10:49[SPEAKER_00]: He needs to get his hands on the football at times when he's targeted and he was able to do that today.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_00]: So that was cool to see by him.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_00]: A really nice interception where he had to go up and sky for it.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_00]: um B.J.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_00]: Green.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_00]: That is the story of practice and I'm sorry I'm not getting to it until 11 minutes into the video but B.J.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_00]: Green was unstoppable.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_00]: It was against backups for the most parts so that has to be taken into account but B.J.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: Green probably would have had five sacks if they were alive today.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_00]: legitimately.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_00]: It was incredible.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_00]: Dennis Gardeck had at least one sack.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_00]: Dürfie had at least one sack.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_00]: Trayvon Walker had at least one sack.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_00]: Eric Murray had a pass break up.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: Jalen Husky had a pass break up.
- 11:33[SPEAKER_00]: Antonio Johnson had a pass break up.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_00]: And on that Antonio Johnson past break, I've actually quit and Morris got injured, so we're gonna have to see what happened there with him.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: You also have Walker little who left practice after he left.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_00]: You saw John O'Mon, I'm playing some right card.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_00]: Why am I alone playing out at tackle a little bit?
- 11:54[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, I feel like the defense, Jack's defense when they were not going against Trevor Lawrence.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_00]: They were killing and even against Trevor Lawrence, they made some nice plays and challenged them and made it very difficult.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_00]: To Barman Hamid had a strong day.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_00]: Like I mentioned, Buster Brown had a strong day.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_00]: Every time they tried to run inside with Devon Hamilton there, that was bad.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Eric Armstrong stood out a strong day too.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_00]: Josh Heinz Allen just hasn't been going much in team.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_00]: They don't need him too right now.
- 12:27[SPEAKER_00]: Same thing with foyer, Luke, and Patrick McHerry, still not going in team.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_00]: That's been, I don't know, exactly what the situation is.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_00]: I think they just want to get into the regular season healthy.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah.
- 12:40[SPEAKER_00]: Colvin landed still off to the side.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_00]: Chris Rodriguez playing, Chris and Brasswell playing.
- 12:49[SPEAKER_00]: Came a little, had a missed P-A-T, but he got the next one and the next one and he did his lone field go, which was a short one.
- 12:59[SPEAKER_00]: Let's see here, what else do we got?
- 13:02[SPEAKER_00]: The one big screen that did pop was Amir Abdullah.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_00]: I mentioned he had a pretty good day.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_00]: Travis Hunter had a nice carry.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_00]: Didn't do much as a receiver, but had a very nice carry.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_00]: So you can probably use your imagination to figure out what type of carry that was.
- 13:17[SPEAKER_00]: Not really supposed to report on the types of plays they're running, but it's difficult to completely avoid that.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_00]: Hunter long picked up a holding call.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_00]: There's a couple of delay of games.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_00]: it wasn't nearly as penalized as last year, which is a really good positive thing because last year was really ugly in the penalty department, but there was a little bit more penalties today, which you can expect when you're scrimaging for an hour and a half.
- 13:39[SPEAKER_00]: There's going to be some penalties, right?
- 13:42[SPEAKER_00]: Jumari Taylor, he was able to, that was the one touchdown I think.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_00]: from the backup offense.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_00]: Jamari Taylor had a nice touchdown run from three or four yards out.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_00]: It was a tough run.
- 13:55[SPEAKER_00]: He was turning the legs and he clearly got in.
- 13:58[SPEAKER_00]: I think he got in a first time and then kind of got pushed back and then fought for it again.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_00]: So Jamari Taylor had a very nice run on that one.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_00]: Tough run to pick up a touchdown.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_00]: And that'll pretty much do it.
- 14:10[SPEAKER_00]: I think that
- 14:11[SPEAKER_00]: As I've mentioned, these two sides of the ball trade punches so often, especially the Jaguar starting offense versus the Jaguar's defense.
- 14:20[SPEAKER_00]: Again, I think the Jaguar's defense, not when they're not playing Trevor, they have a clear advantage right now.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_00]: The backup quarterbacks, backup everybody's are just having a tough time competing with the Jaguar's defense.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_00]: But
- 14:36[SPEAKER_00]: these two units are very strong.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_00]: I think the Jaguars are in a much better spot right now than they were at this time last year as they should be and that's a team that's still one 13 game so excited to see what they can end up doing next week in joint practices and preseason but for now that'll do it really appreciate y'all tuning in.
- 14:57[SPEAKER_00]: Sport in the channel if you enjoy the content please like and subscribe and I'll hit that high button y'all have a good one.
