This is how we do it, baby. [rock music] American Boxes of Rock.
• 0:18
Oh, for criminently, it's Full Spectrum Cycling. Show 323. Yeah, burn, Hollywood, burn. I smell a riot. That's the area code of Hollywood. Is it now? Yes. That's why I was playing a little Public Enemy earlier. Oh, yeah.
• 0:35
See? It all makes sense. Listening to the, uh- Everything I do, it has a- Was that Mr. Cube or Mr. T? There's a b- uh, Ice Cube and Big Daddy Kane- There you go... did some guest vocaling on that track.
• 0:48
Which is from Fear of a Black Planet. Yeah, for sure. For the whose at home. Right on. So it's another week here, one of the last you'll ever hear... Well, to be fair,
• 1:01
I don't know that it's the last you'll hear from us in a couple weeks [laughs].
• 1:06
I kind of threw out there that we maybe should, uh, after, after we kind of wrap up 325, we might just kind of do a reunion tour every month for a while. [laughs] Yeah, downshift a bit. Yeah.
• 1:15
Little downshifting, and, uh, Mr. T Berger has expressed interest in kind of coming. We don't have to do it on a Wednesday night late at night. No, no. We could do it on a, a, whenever- It's fluid.
• 1:27
Time is a flat circle, man... we could do it whenever. Whenever it works for T Berger. But it'd be good to have him back. He'll, I'm sure he'll be here for 325, I would hope. But, uh, anyway, what the hell?
• 1:39
What, uh, what the hey? I can't believe how much stuff happened this weekend, and I rode my bike to everything. Yeah. Even, even in the rain. Yeah, yeah. Mr. Bus Rider. Yeah, I leaked out on the green limousine.
• 1:53
And I know you were like, "Oh, my God, that was such a bad decision." Yes, it was- [laughs]... a terrible decision. [laughs] I, uh, I regret it, but I got a lot of steps in. I, I will say that. Up s- up some steps.
• 2:06
[laughs] Down some steps, around some steps. [sighs] Yeah, that was like something out of a horror movie. I never... I mean, three stories straight up. I mean, not like a s- switch back at all. Yeah.
• 2:17
Just going up from- Up the side of a building... up a side, yeah. Yeah. All the way to the third floor. Ah, that seemed like it was a- It was cool... it seemed like a good, good thing.
• 2:24
But, uh, Bay- that was Bay View Bash. That was... Ah. What are you doing over there? That thing- I was trying to not blow my ears out... what's it doing? Is it falling off your head? Yes, indeed.
• 2:33
Uh, that was, uh, that was Bay View Bash, which was three-quarters of the way through the weekend already. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, but- I j-... that, that was at, you know, running speed, except for most people.
• 2:44
[laughs] Yeah. There was just so much- My dear wife did turn her ankle- Oh... and did things after she bragged how much her shoes were awesome.
• 2:52
Yeah, she was explaining to me how they were the greatest shoes, and she bought them at some art, at, at whatever, Center Street or Burleigh or something. Mm-hmm. ArtSmarts whatever.
• 3:02
No, the, uh, the Riverwest Super Garage. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, these are so great. They're Italian leather. Ah, do, do, do. Yeah, with the three-inch heels walking on Milwaukee streets. Are you kidding me?
• 3:12
And then kaboomy. Well, I hope she's all right, 'cause- She's on the mend... twisting ankles is the worst. If she- But- You might as well just break the thing and get it over with because- It's like, it's like micro-...
• 3:21
it, it almost sucks worse... it's like micro breaks around- Ugh... on the sides or something like that. I don't know. My- I don't know.
• 3:27
She's prone to those things, so it's- Yeah, my left ankle has a, like a stretched, the ligaments are stretched, so it's easily rolls, but they never really just get out of the way and just be like, "You gotta do surgery on this thing."
• 3:39
Right. Yeah, so. Exactly. And it's been, it's, it's- Same here. I have degeneration of my left ankle or something- Oh, it's been a while... but then they, but it's whatever.
• 3:46
I remember the day, well, besides soccer in high school, which didn't do it any good, I remember the day that it really... I'm like, "I'm sure it broke or something," but I was, like, 17 or some- whatever.
• 3:57
I'm down at Bradford Beach here in Milwaukee, which is your, your major beach right down on the lakefront on, uh, Lincoln Memorial Drive there, and I think it was Steve Jennings, you know, the Frisbee god of the universe.
• 4:10
[laughs] He was down on the beach, and he's like, "Hey, Greg," and he throws a Frisbee, and I'm up on, like, 10 feet up on the, uh, on the top of the, the bathhouse or whatever you call the thing. Yeah. Right?
• 4:22
So I'm like, "Oh, yeah." So I jump over the railing, and I go to catch the Frisbee, like, 10 feet in the air. I'm like, "Yeah, this is gonna be great." If I was gonna land in sand- Yeah... it would've been great. Right.
• 4:32
But, like, the footing from the building came out, and it was concrete under, like, I don't know- A little bit of s-...
• 4:38
four or five inches of sand, which I was not prepared for, and it went, "No, I'm not doing that, bro." Gee. And my ankle went, "No, no. No, no, no." [laughs] I'm pretty sure that that was where the whole
• 4:50
whatever thing started, but anyway. [laughs] Skateboarding couldn't have helped. Uh, cycling really hasn't messed that up too much, though. Thanks be very much. Exactly. Yeah. It's all this walking thing, so. Yeah.
• 5:00
That's where all the, the hazards... Ride your bike everywhere. Yeah. Well, I mean, if we were out- I try to...
• 5:05
if we were out in, uh, uh, sunny LA or something where, uh, there's no frost heaves, I don't know that I'd have to worry that much about it.
• 5:11
[laughs] But I could be, like, step on an anthill or something, and it'd be like, pfft, roll, pfft. Mm-hmm. I get it. I- Yeah. I don't know. I- Yeah... I'm tender with my- My body is so broken. Broken temple. Anyhow.
• 5:25
[laughs] So, so we had a week of shows. I mean, just in no particular, Whiskey of the Damned, De La Buena, Bay View Bash with, like, a bunch of bands, and then Wilson Family two times. Yeah.
• 5:35
Did anything, I mean, did anything stick out to you, like, this was, I'm glad I saw this thing out of all the things that I saw? Uh, Whiskey of the Damned's because, I mean, they don't get together that often. Yeah.
• 5:48
They all have their own independent projects, so it's, when they do get a, a gathering, it normally works out pretty well. I- I like that... I don't think they would get pissed at me for posting something.
• 5:57
I gotta get Owen to say, "Yeah, you can post it," 'cause I had the- The, the violin player doing the roll on, he has like a keg. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And he's playing- Marco-...
• 6:06
and he does kind of like the monkey, the chimpanzee thing with the... But he's very good. It's like log rolling on a keg. Yes.
• 6:13
I have a good video of that, and I'm like, "Well, we should throw that up there 'cause that's pretty cool." Indeed. Yeah. I think I- And he's one of the bell ends as well. Ah, well, very good.
• 6:23
I think I would've said Foxface, or I will say Foxface. Yeah, yeah, they were good. Very good. I, I didn't catch a lot of them, but I caught what I liked, I like. Yeah.
• 6:31
It was in the, the kind of the semi-rainy zone- Mm-hmm... and it was like, "Oh, let's just go down the street to the Powerplant and watch the Brewers game and-" [laughs] Oh, look- Unexpectedly, oh.
• 6:41
"Oh, there's an Alex Wearsden and family band." [laughs] Yes, which is why we saw them twice in two days. Yes, that was very funny. Yeah. So.
• 6:48
And a bit of h- the high-powered cocktails there that- But I, so w- we, I, I rode down there with James, and then... I know I rode a lot this weekend because we went to a lot of spots. Yeah. Good stuff.
• 7:03
And De La Buena's actually playing tonight- [laughs]... on the r- on the river. Oh, really? It's like the rain date or something like that from- Oh, on the boat? Yeah. Boating? That is a cool thing.
• 7:12
What do they call it? The f- Funk Wagon. Well, I mean- The Funk, the Funk Wagon on the River... Series or something. Yeah, yeah. Well, it's good stuff.
• 7:19
Milwaukee has a lot of stuff going on, folks, in the, uh, especially in the warmer weather. Yes. And as it's getting into fall, I like that they keep the things going as long as you possibly can, and people will do it.
• 7:31
I- People will show up. I've been looking at the weather next- People will be, be showing up at the end, not so much at the beginning. Yeah. I, I mean- Well, the next 10 days are- Even though it's about...
• 7:40
It could be the same temperature, but people will still freak out. The next 10 days are like living room temperature every single day. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. For the...
• 7:47
You know, it's just gonna be 10 days of- I don't trust the forecast that much, but- Yeah... as I look at it, I'm like- Yeah... "Well, it's normally in that f- more or less zone." Yeah. But. No, it's gonna be good.
• 7:57
And there will be many more opportunities to go ins- uh, one opportunity is October 4th. It's right down the block. Well, a mile from here. Uh, Fright Street- Ooh... Festival. 12...
• 8:11
At least, I think 10 or 12 bands from noon to midnight. Yeah, I saw a couple of them, uh- Gonna be good stuff. I forgot what Mark Adams called the, uh, the roundabout, the Rock and Roll Roundabout or something.
• 8:20
[laughs] K So What? I remember- Yeah, yeah... I've seen them. There you go. And, uh, yeah. So, hey, sh, just so Steve, uh, says, uh, he gives us a like- Is that El Ronaldo? No. Yes, it is El Ronaldo. It is El Ronaldo.
• 8:32
They are playing at, like, 5:00. Oh, my. Well, aren't they clever with their new i- little i- gnomic review- I could... I was like, "What the hell is that?" I thought it was somebody else. Yeah.
• 8:42
But then I just kinda read it with just the right eyes. Yeah. You have to squint or something. Yeah. Magic Eye poster. Um, I do wanna shout out to Steve, so he gives- That's a scooter... so he gives us a thumbs up.
• 8:52
Esteban. S- no, Steve Es- well, Esteban. Terrapin. Terrapin. Ter- Terrapin Esteban. [laughs] Terrapin Esteban.
• 9:00
And if you, if anybody is in the neighborhood, [laughs] they may already be gone, but he tossed out a couple of real nice Ping golf bags today that are embroidered with Tim Grogan. Yeah, the legend. Local pro.
• 9:13
Local legend. Yeah. Just there. Just what you need. Bye- Yeah... to those Ping bags. Yeah. I mean, and, and, and- And what do, what, what, you know- You, you won't have to look shifty or anything...
• 9:22
allow me to show you- You just sort of go like, "Oh, hello." Allow me to show you my golf stance. It's like this. Oh, Lord. [laughs] And I'm no Happy Gilmore, baby. I, I- I am not slap shot and shit... I don't know.
• 9:33
I've never put the three elements together. I've gone to a driving range. I've gone and done pitch and putt, the th- uh, par three over at- Sure... Lake Park. And I've done mini golf. Sure.
• 9:43
But I've never put them all together- Yeah... and put them on, like a- Mini golf. Yeah. You put... But they're three independent. I got the drive, I got the short game, or mid game, and then the short game. Yeah.
• 9:53
With obstacles. But not, not all in one course at the same time. Exactly. One of these years I might... Yeah. I can't remember how old- Yeah, when I retire, you see. [laughs] I can't remember how old Garrett was.
• 10:02
He had to have been four, five maybe. We were in Door County and went to the Pirates Cove mini- Oh, I almost went there. I-... mini golf up at, uh, in the Door County there. Yeah.
• 10:13
And, uh, think on the 18th hole he got a hole in one, which gave him a whole nother- Another round? Another round. Oh, yeah. Which now the other three people have to pay for that round.
• 10:22
[laughs] I'm like, "We got sh- we got shammed on this." [laughs] Yeah. Well, it's the damn tells, man. It's l- yeah. Well, you can't let, you can't let your five-year-old- It's funny... say, "I want a free round."
• 10:30
Eh, whatever. Well, exactly. Let's go, let's go again. Yeah. You're in the carnival. I mean, it's- Yeah... you know, it's just glorified carnival. But- Long as I get a, uh...
• 10:38
My golf ball, if it's not the color of that case or this chair, I'm usually an orange ball guy. Oh, my. Okay. Orange ball guy. From the, for the mini golf. Ah. Not for the, not for the stick golf.
• 10:50
[laughs] Not so much for the stick golf, but yeah. [laughs] Well- I don't know about that. I, I... Okay. You can have green if you want. Well, then I don't know. What, uh, yeah, he's- Oh, no, Pa- Puck has that...
• 11:03
exactly. Majen- mahogany, isn't it? M- mahogany. So yeah, so yeah, so yeah. So you know what? So, so- Milwaukee... but, but- Place to be. Right there. Whoop. Well. Uh, you know, we're... I, so I just kinda...
• 11:18
We're gonna pre- pre-sell this idea that, yes, 3:25 is the last show of Full Spectrum Cycling in the weekly guise, but probably once a month or so maybe a little more special holiday edition or something.
• 11:36
However, there may be other shows coming up as well. Have we talked about this before? No, uh, I don't know. Yeah. Maybe. Throwing around the idea of this Milwaukee Buy thing. I like this idea. Yep.
• 11:49
Where if you're m- if you're more Milwaukee centric, that's what that will be. JK and I doing probably a monthly to start, maybe a biweekly sometime. Not every week. I don't know.
• 11:59
That's a lot of, it's a lot of fodder to gather. We'll see. Exactly. We'll see how it works. We're gonna start slow and, and build up steam. We're just human. And then, uh, and then I- Just as God might be...
• 12:11
I've been throwing around the idea of, uh, like we used to do a weekly dose of fat,
• 12:15
and now I'm thinking weekly dose of cycling, so it's a little broader, where I would be interviewing people either v- via the video thing on your computer or going to shops or
• 12:28
frame builders or event coordinators or just riders on the street and talking to people about cycling. So you might get more of us than you really want, but- Yes... that's- Like a Hydra... sort of the way.
• 12:40
[laughs] With many things. Yeah, you take one, yeah, you cut one head off, four pop up. Oh, yeah. Yes. Again, classical civilization, that, that, that- Yeah... always pays off.
• 12:51
You've been, you've been, you've been leaning heavily on that- Flexing that muscle... in the last few weeks. I've, uh, so I've been, uh, I've been monkeying with the YouTube stuff for a while.
• 13:00
Obviously, we throw this on YouTube. But I've also been monkeying with it in different ways and different, um, formats. Some stuff really goes pretty well, and one thing that really went this week, which I would like to
• 13:15
keep going on, is, is, is a little, is a little thing I call, before I part it out. Because it's pretty obvious if you're in this business, especially with used bikes, obviously.
• 13:27
Although parting out new bikes is something they do overseas. They buy bikes, they throw the frame away, and they sell the parts for more than the sum of the whole thing. Hmm.
• 13:38
Anyway, this is sort of that but for more vintage stuff that I have in the collection, and I did one this week about the Salsa Fargo titanium I've had for a while. Built it up, rode it a little bit.
• 13:51
Wanna ride that thing around the country.
• 13:52
Not riding it around the country because, A, that's the wrong timing or whatever, and, uh, shop needs money, so I did this video on it about, you know, "Here's all the stuff on it.
• 14:02
I'm taking this apart, putting it on one of our Schlick Growler frames," which is now also done. Turned out super awesome. Very happy. Yeah, I think it's a- Uh, it's about two pounds heavier, folks.
• 14:13
It's two pounds heavier than that titanium fantastic thing, so I'm not saying that's a big deal. [laughs] Yeah, no gram shavers. Nope, but the titanium is so sweet. Gram shavers.
• 14:23
It is on Facebook Marketplace, at least as of right now at showtime, but already tons of people are like, "Can I just buy the headset? Can I just buy the fork? Can I just get the frame?" I'm like- Hmm... "No." No. No.
• 14:38
I know. I don't wanna break it up because I want all that shit out of the shop. To get all the shit out of the shop, you gotta buy the titanium frame. That's what I'm saying. Right, like the Hydra. Yeah. Exactly.
• 14:50
No, it's only one. You just wanna give it at all 'cause- Yeah... if you cut it off, then there's like five different things...
• 14:54
then, oh, then I gotta sell, then I gotta sell that rack and that rack and that headset and that fork. It's like, no. Yes, exactly. Buy the thing the way it is. You don't want all the shit? Sell it yourself.
• 15:03
You can probably make more money selling that than trying to lowball me on just the frame. So go fuck yourself. [laughs] I was gonna go in a different direction on that but- Oh... yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh.
• 15:16
I was like, and there is certain... Yeah, it's whatever. It's all well. Maybe you would've done a better job of that intro. No, no, no, no.
• 15:21
[laughs] So with my m- with my newfound wealth, even though this hasn't sold yet, [sniffs] I did make a purchase today, and- Uh-oh... there's a couple things about it that I think are cool. A, the thing is cool.
• 15:36
We've talked about it before quite a few months ago. It's a State Bicycles, I guess you'd call it a cargo fork.
• 15:42
It's like you got a normal bike, a mountain bike, 26-inch, whatever mount- whatever bike you got, and this is a 20-inch wheel
• 15:50
that you replace your fork with, and it has a, basically a pizza rack kind of an idea on the front. It's like a m- Oh... a miniature cargo bike. And their thing, even with the wheel, is like 399. It's, like, really
• 16:05
well-priced because a lot of the other ones are either custom stuff, which is, like, 6, 700 bucks, or Crust, I think, might be 500 for theirs. I just gotta try it because I have a bike it could go on. Hmm.
• 16:17
So I ordered it, and then at the end of checkout, and this is, I'm a dealer for State, so even dealers get hammered with this, is right before you check out, they have this little thing that says
• 16:30
accept or decline an 8% tariff surcharge. Because they explain it. It's like, "We had 190% tariff, then we had a no tariff, then we had a 46% tariff, then we had a blah, blah, blah.
• 16:46
We have to do this because this is what we figured out that's gonna make it equitable for now for all you people." So it was another 23 bucks because of this 8% thing, which if you decline it, you, you, you don't get it.
• 16:57
You can't just say, "No, I'm not paying it." [laughs] This is, yeah, acknowledging the terms. No, I am, uh, I am agreeing that you people need to, uh, not go- This is the small print...
• 17:06
not go broke being, uh, doing this... explained. Right, exactly. And they have stuff manufactured in other countries besides China. They have Vietnam and, I don't know, Myanmar or somewhere over there.
• 17:17
Um, and some of them are hit harder than others. But it's just, it's just an- another... It's the first time that I've been directly affected by it. I'm sure that stuff I order from our suppliers have it built in.
• 17:31
They don't, they're not very transparent about- Sure... raising prices or whatever. But this- Well, this is the price plus what the tariff thing is...
• 17:36
yeah, these guys are, these guys are actually transparent about how it's affecting them. You heard the T word. Right. So. I don't know.
• 17:43
If you listen to Marketplace on, uh, on the radio station every day, [laughs] Kai Ryssdal, what an awesome guy. Yeah. Explains economics to you if you're not an economics guy, very smart.
• 17:54
Uh, but it's the T word, and they, it's like he tries not to say it every show, and then you have to talk about it 'cause it's what's affecting everything. The elephant in the room. Yeah, it's affecting a lot of stuff.
• 18:04
So that thing, it's a, uh, a, it's a sm- So it says, "A small fee is applied at checkout to offset increased import tariffs on select bike components." This helps us maintain the quality and value you expect.
• 18:15
Learn more at... " And there's a link if you wanna go see, uh, what they're actually talking about, thanks to the orange guy. That was my addition [laughs] to the thing.
• 18:25
I was gonna hit the button 'cause I was intrigued by the fork, and then it went to the Terra fixed blade. [laughs] Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. Oh, yeah, yeah. So- Yeah.
• 18:34
Oh, yeah, 'cause, oh, I should put the link in there for the fork, too. Yeah. 'Cause it's, it's a cool thing. Would that fit on the Klunker? I... It would, and I think I just- I'm just wondering. Yeah.
• 18:42
Yeah, I believe it would. I would like just measure the axle to crown and see if it's in the same zone, and make sure that it's not gonna totally wonk out your handling. Essentially, it's made for
• 18:53
mountain bikes of whatever vintage from 1980 to, you know, whatever. You're, you're not putting it on a full suspension whatever. You're putting it on an old utilitarian bicycle that is a thing. Yeah. Yeah.
• 19:07
Which, which I would think that would qualify. I would think... I mean, just out of curiosity. Yeah. I mean, just same company. No, it's cool. I mean, and- You would think they would most... I don't know.
• 19:14
Well, I- Why not? I mean, and I, I sold the, uh, the electric Omnium, which is getting picked up on Monday to go down to Austin, and I thought, "Oh, God. I'm really gonna miss that thing." One more night.
• 19:26
I just don't want it to go away. Just give me one more night. Because it, it's so badass. And then I thought, "Well, I am gonna electrify a bike that I already have," and then I...
• 19:36
If I put this on there, it's like a mini, mini Omnium. It's... As much as I actually use the Omnium for carrying a bunch of stuff, I think this... It's a pretty good... It's a big thing. It's a pretty good rack.
• 19:47
You can almost fit, you can almost fit a bunch of... Oh, you could fit a lot- Beer... a lot of beer in there. Beer. My God. Well, once again, Michael picked up the beer today. Do tell us about the, uh, the beer.
• 19:58
[clears throat] Let me clear my... Let me clear my throat. Look at those dulcet tones, Brian. Yes, yes, sir. Oh, yes, indeed. Uh, this is from Odell Brewing Company. It is a Hazer Tag. Pew, pew, pew. Hazer Tag.
• 20:12
I mean- Just reminded me of, uh, Mr. Chris Daisy when he had his laser tag business after he sold- Oh, yeah... Zion Cyclery down there in, uh, Zion, Illinois. Yeah. What was the name of it? I can't remember.
• 20:22
Um- If I looked it up, but... It isn't... It, it...
• 20:24
He decided not to keep doing it, I think, 'cause it just took a lot of time, and it was like, "Well, I got out of the bike business 'cause I was spending a bazillion hours a week doing that." Sure.
• 20:33
"And now I'm building a business and I'm spending a bazillion dollars a week doing that." Mm-hmm. And it's like, "You know what? How about I don't spend a bazillion dollars a week except for doing other stuff?"
• 20:43
[laughs] Um- Yeah. Yeah, yeah. And I, I don't know. I- It looked fun for a bit. Yeah. I mean, it looked like it could be a headache. Like, "I, I... Look at me."
• 20:52
You, you, monitor all the fun that's going on, and some of it is- Every time I think about children and businesses and how great it would be to have them in a business, I think, "Oh, UWM has a lot of education, uh, s- you know, there's students going for their education degree.
• 21:06
They would be awesome to deal with, [laughs] all those people." [laughs] Those little, tiny people. Uh, like Chuck E. Cheese. Yeah, no. Yeah. No Chuck E. Cheese. Uh, there's a reason why Chuck E.
• 21:17
Cheeses are freaking out, or people at them are. Oh, God. Well, and the- I mean, all right... I mean, it used to be the happiest place. Well, that and ShowBiz- I think-... Pizza Palace...
• 21:25
I think when I lived in- With the competing animatronic, uh, shows. Yeah. I think when I lived in Sunnyvale in the California, I believe we had the first Chuck E. Cheese in the country. I pulled his tail off, the guy.
• 21:39
Who? Which guy? Chuck E. Cheese. Oh. [laughs] The guy who was in there was pissed. I bet. Yeah. Oh, he wasn't animatronic. No. [laughs] No, no, no.
• 21:47
He was the one that was walking around 'cause it was somebody's birthday party. Oh, yeah. They gave me all the tokens, and I yanked on the tail, and, "Mrr," and Chuck E. Cheese yelled at me.
• 21:56
[laughs] How old were you at this time? Uh, eight. Eight. Seven, eight years old, something like that. All right, let's talk about this- [laughs] Let's talk about this Hazer Tag just a little bit longer.
• 22:06
But yes, it's a hazy IPA. There's a passionfruit, I believe. It says it's a game-changing haziness. Oh, "Game-changing haziness awaits in the galactic arena of hoppiness."
• 22:18
Oh, see how they did that with the whole- Galactic... it's an oh. It's an hoppiness. They're saying- A lot of descriptors... experience the rush that comes with the heart-pounding excitement of IPA innovation.
• 22:28
Passionfruit. Wow, did AI write this? Passionfruit and citrus. Yeah. No, because it was made in January. I think AI didn't start till February. Uh- What are you talking about?... pa- passionfruit and...
• 22:37
Oh, that's another of my ideas, by the way. I am AI. I... This is my new thing. It's a new... It's another new. I have two other YouTube channels. That's right, Job. One- I'm the lawnmower man...
• 22:48
one I wanna call Old Guy on AI. It's like, it's not just a young person's thing. Lawnmower Man. Old Guy. Get off my lawn. [laughs] See, it all comes full circle.
• 22:59
Um, uh, the other idea for YouTube is I have tons of die-cast cars, somewhat from when I was a kid, some I just acquired over the years just, you know, little h- h- h- HO s- you know, or Hot Wheel-sized stuff. Yep.
• 23:12
I wanna do one per minute, do a short every day about one car, 'cause there's a guy, this guy out there, Pat- There's a story behind each one of these little, these little guys. Well, okay.
• 23:21
I'm gonna say, I'm gonna say Pat Flynn. Pat, if you're listening to this, I know I'm one of your favorite shows, but, uh, he's also one of the [laughs] one of the biggest YouTube guys out there.
• 23:29
1.7 million he has, and all he does is open up decks of Pokemon cards every day for 59 and a half m- seconds. 59... It's, like, less than a minute, whatever that is. Sure. 59 and a half, just under 60 seconds.
• 23:43
Fair enough. And all, it's, it's him and his, his big-ass fucking weird thumbs opening a Pokemon pack, and going through them, and being good, bad, bad, bad. Like a hand model. Bad, bad, bad. Good.
• 23:54
Ooh, that's a good one. Okay. And- 1.7 million- I get it. I get it... per day- Yeah, yeah, yeah... watching this shit. I mean, I don't get it, but I get it. He's... Okay.
• 24:02
I think it's been around for a year or something, maybe a little more. 3.5 billion views he's had.
• 24:10
I gotta say, I mean, y- you know, it's people- I mean, that, that, uh, that influence is the reason that people are in a market at times... in the collectibles and the gamins and the whatever.
• 24:20
I mean, th- you just- Yeah... know there are people out there. I mean, you know there are people out there, but you don't know them. Well, sure.
• 24:26
And definitely, definitely- I mean, part of the, part of my, uh, extended family is in the co- uh, collectible, uh, merchandise or retail shop. Like sports cards and- No... no Like Fun- No...
• 24:40
Funkos and- What about, uh-... and cards like that that- What about the things? What were those little stuffed bastards called? I have boxes of those things. Beanie Babies. Yeah, I got Beanie Babies.
• 24:49
Are th- They were just- Are they coming back yet? No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no Are they coming back? No, no, no. Coming back yet? No, no, no, no. Yeah, but, but you can't get rid of them.
• 24:54
You know, you can't... I m- well- Well... I mean, unless you're like... I worked with a, a s- here we go, back to nostalgia weekend. Never ends. Um, worked with this woman, and she had so many, so many Beanie Babies.
• 25:09
And it was she, I mean, like, but thoughtfully. I, this is, like, my retirement fund- Yeah... kinda vibe. Should've retired about 25 years ago, though. Right.
• 25:18
I think she unloaded, uh, the handful of it at the right time. Well, my- But...
• 25:21
yeah, my cousin Becky was arbitraging, I think that's what they call it in the fancy terms, Beanie Babies back when they were hot, and she was making big bucks doing it. Sure, spinning it around.
• 25:32
Do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do, do. Yeah, and then spending it on fingernails and hair. Like some people were hoarding and being like, "I'm gonna make so much money when I unload all of this," do, do, do.
• 25:39
I think I have, like, four or five, uh, Bankers boxes full. I don't have that many, but I've got some. [laughs] I don't have, oh, any. No. None. I don't want any. No, no, no, no. You can't get rid of them now.
• 25:51
You can't- I never s- You can't give the things away. Nobody wants them... I know. Yeah, they're like Tribbles. I mean, yeah, th- they're Tribbles. Trouble with Tribbles. Yeah.
• 25:57
I mean, they- A very good Star Trek episode. Yeah. And i- it's kinda like Gremlins, you know? Uh, along the lines of the Hydra, you cut off the head and then five or six pop up in its place.
• 26:08
Uh, here's, here's something- This show is brought to you by Hydra and [laughs] - Yeah. Hail, hail Hydra. I know. Go, they, uh, don't wanna get sued by Disney. No. No, no you don't.
• 26:19
[laughs] Uh, here's something Wendy brought up and, uh, sent me a note on that I thought was, uh, very nice of her to remind me to keep riding my bike. Apparently- Mm, hmm...
• 26:27
if you read this study, to protect your brain against dementia, start pedaling. British study suggests that riding your bike, especially when you're older, helps stave off the old, uh, Alzheimer's and the dementia. Yeah.
• 26:40
It's, like, 19% and 22, I'd say it's significant. Mm-hmm. And this study went for several years, so. Yeah, I saw- And-... I ran across the same- Yeah... damn article, and I was like- Right...
• 26:50
I'm like, "Right on," you know. Like, you know, you, you know, whatever percentage they were saying to you, you do normal tasks, you know, normal- Yeah... errands, da, da, da, hey, do it by bike. Yep. You know? For sure.
• 27:02
Uh, other stuff on my list today, free, oh, Fatbike.com question of the week. This is actually [laughs] getting more engagement on the site than anything else, plus the, the, uh, Facebook pages.
• 27:14
I'm throwing a question of the week up about fat bike stuff every Monday. Every damn Monday. And people are responding and, like, a, answering questions and being engaged.
• 27:24
And so if you are a Fatbike.com person, and you have a fat bike, and you have opinions on this stuff, I got, I've, I got, like, a year's worth of questions. I just have to keep putting them up there.
• 27:34
It's- [laughs] Like, I spent a, I don't know, an hour or two trying to, like, think up stuff and, and I'm like, "Wow, well, here's a whole year's worth of Monday posts."
• 27:44
[laughs] That's, uh, like the, uh, um- How, how many times have you- The g- the g- uh, the glass of questions from the- Oh, yeah, the head... from the last week. The head. The head. The head of questions. The glass head.
• 27:53
It's still, n- no matter what- Where is the head? Is it s- It's on the bike desk. Oh, it's at your house. Yeah. Okay, good. I, I'm not storing it and- Yeah... um- It was, it was here.
• 28:01
Thank you for letting it have a month- Yeah... and a half sleepover. That was- Um, but yeah. Yeah.
• 28:06
It's one of the daughter's actual possessions, but- One of, one of her- It hasn't, it hasn't been brought- It's one of her heads. [laughs] Yeah. It hasn't been brought up in conversation recently, so. For a couple years?
• 28:17
Yeah, yeah. And, you know- What, what do you- She, and she doesn't have room for it anyways anywhere. What do you think of this? [laughs] So that's why. What do you, what do you think of Wake Bake Lake? I like that.
• 28:26
Where did I, I, I- I would've put-... noticed that earlier... well, I would've put it on the can, but this is for the cannabis company things, and somehow they make their cans skinnier. Oh.
• 28:35
So, so it doesn't, if they're taller and skinnier. Oh, gotcha, gotcha, gotcha. I do like Wake Bake Lake, though. It's, um- Mm-hmm... it's Lunar Cannabis Company if you want your THC infused drinks.
• 28:45
Oh, God, that was so funny. I [laughs] ran into Casey a couple weeks ago, and, uh, Slugo was in there trying to have him drink, and I think it was, like, a thir- 25, 35 milligrams. 25. Probably 25. Yeah, 25.
• 28:59
And it's just watching, like, "No, y- he's trying to make me drink this. He's trying to poison me." [laughs] Yeah. Casey will slam that and be all goofy. Well, yeah. I mean, everyone's got to know their...
• 29:11
And he's like, "I can only take a si-" I'm just like, "I don't think it's a sip thing." Yeah. Again, this is, like, the gummy world to me again. Oh, yeah. It's like, "What? Oh, I took two sips." Draw your- Oh...
• 29:21
draw your- What do you d- what do you have, 25 milligrams in you now? No, you gotta drink the whole damn thing to get 25 milligrams in you. Right. Draw- Just... Draw- I don't believe in your-...
• 29:30
your phaser and see how you measure up in our latest game of Hazer Tag. Odell Brewing Company, folks. 7% though. Oh, I thought you didn't wanna... Well, you, these, those fellas- It's not nine.
• 29:42
[laughs] But it- The only one I looked at was nine... doesn't taste seven. It tastes, uh- It's dangerously seven... it tastes 6.9 to me. I thought they said six, but then, like- Well, it's just-... I know I read seven...
• 29:51
it's just seven. I know, I know. But if you go to their website, it says six. Yeah. So Odell- Hey, if, uh-... come on now... here's a, here's a, here's something for you folks that need a new, uh, handlebar bag.
• 30:03
Our friends at Roadrunner Bags have a burrito sale. Mm. They make several different burrito bags, some for, mm, freezer burritos, some for burritos as big as your head. 30% off through, uh- The dude...
• 30:18
dum, dum, dum, dum. 30% off through Sunday the 28th Uh, there's a code, BURRITOSALE, and there's a link in the, in the show notes. I, uh, we, I, I love Road Runner bags. Yeah.
• 30:30
In fact, in my video for the, uh, Fargo tie, I talked about the bag, which was on the handlebar, which was a Road Runner, just a... It's one of these things.
• 30:41
Not a burrito bag, but that's 'cause that handlebar's kinda goofy. Uh, yeah, I don't know. Shit coming up. I don't know. I don't know. I know Kern Park Cross is coming up. Uh, Santa Rampage is coming up.
• 30:54
Shit's down the road. Tweed, Tweed Ride in a couple weeks. Tweed Ride. Oh, yeah. Yeah.
• 30:59
Uh, something on fatbike.com you might wanna keep your eyes peeled for is Sealy Dave is going to be running a photo contest to, uh, send in some photos so we can feature them on Wallpaper Wednesday.
• 31:13
But we're gonna be giving away a set of those fancy inverse pedals that we, uh, talked about quite a bit- Yeah... last, uh, last winter. We still have a, a set that is, uh, brand new and we haven't, uh, uh...
• 31:25
The testers have them. We've been testing and we've been reporting, but we have an extra set, and we're gonna give that away as a prize for you sending us a photo or photos. Sh. I don't know the rules.
• 31:37
Sealy Dave is making them up. Keep an eye on the website. I'm sure that'll be up in a day or two. And, uh, get some decent photos. These, uh, uh, you know, uh, have some pride. Don't do, you know.
• 31:47
Well, but what if we have a potato phone? [laughs] It's all in the description that you send along. If it's a real shit photo, at least be, m- embellish it with the words. Right on.
• 31:57
Yeah, I could see, yeah, I could see, you know, maybe doing a, like a DFL. [laughs] Or a, a POS or something. [laughs] A POS award.
• 32:06
Um, there will be s- I just know that, I mean, I, I know I just take shit pictures- [laughs]... in, just in general. Does it have to do with the potato phone or just your lack of actual- I do... Something like that.
• 32:16
Well, it's, like, a, a little of everything, you know? It's like, oh, I just wanna document the moment, but then I don't wanna con- I don't wanna focus on my phone and miss the moment that I'm trying to capture.
• 32:26
I- So I'm just, da, da, da, da, da, da... 100% can agree with that because, I don't know if I've... I'm sure I've mentioned this before. I'm not, maybe not in this context, but, uh,
• 32:37
the last major solar eclipse that happened, it's been a while back, but our family took a trip out to, um, w- middle of nowhere in Wyoming to see it. Huh.
• 32:50
Where you could get, like, four and a half minutes of it, which seems like a long time. Yeah. And I've got my fancy camera, I got my tripod, I get it all set up, I got the filter on there.
• 32:58
I wanna take some pictures of this thing. I did get some decent photos, but it went by so fast I basically missed the event. Right. Oh, uh- Because I was concentrating on taking the photo. Yep, yep, yep.
• 33:09
I'm like, "God damn it. I'm not gonna do that next time." Mm-hmm. I'm going to enjoy the cooling of the thing, the weirding out of the animals, and the experience of it,
• 33:20
and I'm gonna put the camera on auto and just let it do its thing [laughs]. Right, right, right. You know? I'm not gonna- Yeah... I'm not gonna- We're, we're kinda, we're in Buck Rogers land now. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah.
• 33:29
So, again, we're like- To be fair... uh, just give it a bit. And I do as well. And I did, I did get some photos I'm, I'm happy with.
• 33:33
But since I already did it once, I mean, you can only get so many shots that look dissimilar, right? So- Right... I already did it. I mean, that's why I- I don't have to do it anymore...
• 33:40
I do appreciate artists in, at, uh, shows I see where they're just like, "Yeah," you know? When they pretty much comment, going like, "Oh, yeah, people taking videos of us that are never gonna watch again in their life."
• 33:53
Well, I took a bunch- And I'm just like- Okay... you're not wrong about that. Because I do. I mean, I, I, I will document just for posterity. Sure. And maybe I can get a good cl- picture out of one of the cl- things.
• 34:06
You never know. I did, I took a- Kind of thing... all the shows this weekend, I took pictures at, photos, photos. And I will have some galleries in the show notes because some of them turned out pretty well. Yeah.
• 34:17
Uh- Oh, of, uh, Kim crushing on Andrew Lloyd Webber [laughs]. [laughs] And- That, that was funny... Andrew- Andrew David Webber, yes. Yeah, yeah, yeah, Andrew Lloyd Webber. Uh, anyway. [laughs] That was funny as shit.
• 34:27
Well, you know what, uh, this is 323. 324 next week. 325, October, whatever that is. And then, uh, we bid you adieu for a time. And, uh, we, we hope that you maybe go back and listen to some episodes from the past.
• 34:43
I might go back, I might, I don't know. I've been trying to figure out how to cull, like, 325 shows worth of the best of. It's like, nah, I, I, I'm not gonna listen to, you know, whatever that would be.
• 34:56
It's, is, most of them are half an hour or a little better. Yeah. So that's, you know- That's a, that, that's- That's, that's 160 hours of [laughs] stuff. Yeah. Uh, but- I mean, you can say you did it and don't do it.
• 35:08
I could just maybe, you know. Well, except it's documented here, unless you- Well, really- Un- unless you edit this little part of the conversation out.
• 35:15
I think the key to- [laughs] I, I think the key to it is to- There's no scruples [laughs] in any channel. I, I just, I just [laughs]... So now- So I have all the raw files we ever did.
• 35:23
I save them because I'm, you know, whatever. The master tapes. But I would like to do all the stuff we talk about before we actually hit the record button because there's some funny shit- Sure...
• 35:33
right before we start [laughs] the show. Yeah. I mean, I have been- It's like, oh, you guys don't know what we're doing over here... I've been try- I've been, uh, yeah.
• 35:41
I've always tried to been the proponent of, "Save it for the show." Yeah. No. You know? I mean, even the meetup, like, before we get here, it's like, you know, okay, a little bit of glad-bagging, but- Yep...
• 35:53
I don't wanna get into Yeah. No, no, no. Not gonna- We're not scripting this thing, folks. Right. I mean, it's like, it's like, uh- This is totally off the cuff... I don't wanna... Yeah. It's Letterman, not Leno.
• 36:04
[laughs] Right. Well, and we're not even gonna get into, uh, Kimmel this week. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Maybe next week. Yeah. Well, that's why I said that I was talking about the Marvel Universe- [laughs]...
• 36:13
which is owned by Disney. Don't wanna get, oh, da, da, da, da, da, da. Right. Oh, I know. Ooh, I said it twice. I don't have, I don't have Disney+ or Hulu anymore. Bye. Bye.
• 36:20
  [laughs] [rock music]
