- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:05Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus. After ten yard line. Second to day free
- 0:08Speaker 1: wide receivers now in motion as Bumpas left to right,
- 0:12Speaker 1: Julius Jones, a single setback Matt Pumpecks looking at the
- 0:14Speaker 1: goal line, he throws it into the end zone. Touchdown.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Say Hawks, it's Michael Bumpas with a diving catching the
- 0:21Speaker 1: end zone. Our ten yard touchdown reception for Bumpus, and
- 0:25Speaker 1: the kid out of Washington State has found himself a
- 0:29Speaker 1: place on this team. Powered by Seahawks dot Com. Welcome
- 0:33Speaker 1: into another edition of Hawk Talk. I'm your host Nasa Chobe,
- 0:37Speaker 1: joined by Michael Bumpus, and we're here to chat about
- 0:39Speaker 1: the Seahawks big win in primetime being the Broncos seventeen
- 0:43Speaker 1: to sixteen. But we wouldn't start off this show after
- 0:46Speaker 1: win like that any other way than speaking to our guy,
- 0:49Speaker 1: Ray Roberts. Time to go inside the trenches. It's time
- 0:54Speaker 1: to go inside the trenches with former Seahawk Ray Roberts.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Big Ray Huge wins last night. Man, it was really
- 1:03Speaker 1: fun with the broadcast the free folks. We had a
- 1:06Speaker 1: great time last night soaking up everything in this victory
- 1:09Speaker 1: last night. The Seahawks shocked the world taking down Russell
- 1:11Speaker 1: Wilson and his return to Looming Field on Monday Night football.
- 1:14Speaker 1: But for the fans who weren't lucky enough to be
- 1:17Speaker 1: in at tenants last night, what was the atmosphere like
- 1:19Speaker 1: in the building yesterday? Well, I think the best way
- 1:22Speaker 1: to explain it was just like it felt like a
- 1:25Speaker 1: little anxious, but like nervous anxious energy, like just at
- 1:30Speaker 1: first wanting to kind of see what was going to happen,
- 1:33Speaker 1: See what was gonna happen when Russell came out, see
- 1:35Speaker 1: how the team was going to perform. But they were
- 1:37Speaker 1: ready to go right from the beginning. A couple of
- 1:39Speaker 1: times I went out of the press box and went
- 1:41Speaker 1: down into the stadium just so I could hear and
- 1:43Speaker 1: fill the noise. And you know, I wasn't here through
- 1:46Speaker 1: all the big times, you know, through the legion of
- 1:48Speaker 1: Boom and as Pete Carroll was building this program, so
- 1:51Speaker 1: I didn't hear some of the loudest games. But that's
- 1:54Speaker 1: the loudest game I've ever been in in Mocker in NFL.
- 1:57Speaker 1: So it was super exciting. The fans. A lockdown from
- 2:00Speaker 1: from the beginning, and I was super okay with the booing.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Pete Carroll talked about everyone kind of talked about it.
- 2:08Speaker 1: You know, you can litt be plenty days to love
- 2:10Speaker 1: up Russell Wilson when he comes back and he's in
- 2:12Speaker 1: the Ring of Honor. That night was not last night,
- 2:14Speaker 1: so it was good to see a crazy, crazy environment. Now,
- 2:17Speaker 1: Ray the young bucks up front, Charles Cross, Abe Lucas
- 2:20Speaker 1: get their first starts in the NFL. How did you
- 2:23Speaker 1: see them performing the big stage yesterday? I thought they
- 2:26Speaker 1: did a really good job. But it came out the
- 2:28Speaker 1: first half and provided great protection. I think Gino had
- 2:33Speaker 1: some some really good pockets to throw from. They were
- 2:35Speaker 1: doing a good job handling Gregory and Chubb, and then
- 2:40Speaker 1: later in the game, you know, I think it was
- 2:42Speaker 1: more of a technique teachable moment for Charles Cross when
- 2:47Speaker 1: he gave up a couple of sacks to to Chubb.
- 2:49Speaker 1: So I'm not really concerned about his ability to pass
- 2:52Speaker 1: block in this league or to pass block the elite
- 2:54Speaker 1: pass rushers. I think it was just a matter of
- 2:57Speaker 1: hand placement. Really, Like if if we had the video,
- 2:59Speaker 1: I could show it to you better. But basically, you
- 3:01Speaker 1: just want to have your his inside hand which has
- 3:03Speaker 1: been his right hand on Nick Chubb's left shoulder, which
- 3:07Speaker 1: is Nick's inside shoulder, and just trying that thing open
- 3:11Speaker 1: like you're opening the door versus letting that show to
- 3:13Speaker 1: get underneath your arm. And then that shortness the corner
- 3:16Speaker 1: for the rusher. So it's just a coaching kip right there,
- 3:19Speaker 1: a learning moment. But I thought they did really well.
- 3:21Speaker 1: I thought the whole offensive line didn't really well. Could
- 3:23Speaker 1: have run the ball a little bit more in the
- 3:24Speaker 1: second half, but I thought the offensive line, for having
- 3:28Speaker 1: three new starters there and two hookies, did pretty good.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Big race. Speaking of running the ball a bit more,
- 3:35Speaker 1: were you surprised with the ratio earlier in the first half?
- 3:38Speaker 1: We saw more pass evy throughout the game. We saw
- 3:40Speaker 1: more pass ivan especially in the second half. But we
- 3:42Speaker 1: hear Pie Carol talking about, look, we want to run
- 3:44Speaker 1: the football, we want to control the temple of the game. Um,
- 3:48Speaker 1: did this offense meets expectations as far as the ratio, Yeah,
- 3:53Speaker 1: I think they did. You know, Penny was arriaging about
- 3:56Speaker 1: six or seven yards for carrying the first half he
- 3:59Speaker 1: had in the half, I think it was he had
- 4:01Speaker 1: like a couple longer runs that were that were called
- 4:03Speaker 1: back due the penalties. But you know, as we talked
- 4:06Speaker 1: on the postgame show, the way they used the tight ends.
- 4:09Speaker 1: The tight ends I think finished with six or eight
- 4:13Speaker 1: catches or seven catches for like one hundred and seven
- 4:15Speaker 1: yards and two touchdowns. So a lot of that is
- 4:18Speaker 1: also controlling the tempo because those are like some five
- 4:21Speaker 1: yard catches here, eight yard catch there, so they're kind
- 4:24Speaker 1: of like long extended handoffs. And I'm still like in
- 4:28Speaker 1: that game, particular game, you could kind of bunch that
- 4:31Speaker 1: together to say that that was the running game along
- 4:34Speaker 1: with Richard Penny, and I thought that that helped him
- 4:36Speaker 1: control the game as well and say ahead of the
- 4:38Speaker 1: chains and keep positivity going with the offense. What were
- 4:43Speaker 1: your thoughts with shot Penny had twelve carries for sixty yards.
- 4:46Speaker 1: I'm looked explosive at times. If he didn't have two
- 4:49Speaker 1: runs called back, he would have been well over one
- 4:51Speaker 1: hundred yards. How do you think of a twenty look? Well,
- 4:54Speaker 1: I will say, like you know, last year, the last
- 4:56Speaker 1: five games, I think he jumped on the scene and
- 4:58Speaker 1: kind of surprised some guys and some of the production
- 5:01Speaker 1: meetings we've had with DJ Dallas in the preseason, and
- 5:04Speaker 1: a lot of people were kind of speculating on it,
- 5:06Speaker 1: but Adrian Peterson did make a huge difference and everyone's
- 5:10Speaker 1: approach to the game in that room. And I thought
- 5:13Speaker 1: last night was the first time I saw Richard Penny
- 5:16Speaker 1: being one hundred percent comfortable in his skin. I'm one
- 5:20Speaker 1: percent comfortable with his style. And then he was trusting
- 5:22Speaker 1: his eyes. He wasn't trying to be too patient to
- 5:25Speaker 1: find a big holder son to open up. He kind
- 5:27Speaker 1: of pressed the hold and then cut back to where
- 5:29Speaker 1: the openings were ran through some tackles, picked up the
- 5:33Speaker 1: short yardish when he needed to just put his head
- 5:35Speaker 1: down and pick up three or four yards. So I
- 5:37Speaker 1: was really impressed with him. I was impressed with, you know,
- 5:39Speaker 1: just how they were trying to really feed him and
- 5:41Speaker 1: he wasn't trying to do too much but trying to
- 5:44Speaker 1: get the yards that were there. So I was super
- 5:45Speaker 1: excited about their approach with Richard, his approach to the game.
- 5:49Speaker 1: And then, like you said, had those two calls runs
- 5:52Speaker 1: I've been called back, he would have been well over
- 5:53Speaker 1: a hundred yards. So Ray some of the other guys
- 5:56Speaker 1: up front, obviously we talked about the guys on the outside.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Did you see from like Austin Blythe and particularly Phil
- 6:02Speaker 1: Haynes who filled in for Damian Lewis who was injured. Yeah,
- 6:06Speaker 1: I thought Phil Haynes, you know, pretty much picked up
- 6:08Speaker 1: where he left off. I haven't been able to go
- 6:10Speaker 1: back and look at the film again. I think he
- 6:12Speaker 1: did have a holding call that that may have called
- 6:14Speaker 1: back either or a screen or a pass or running play.
- 6:18Speaker 1: And then I thought that that Jackson, you know, because
- 6:22Speaker 1: I didn't my eyes didn't see him a lot. I
- 6:26Speaker 1: think that he played pretty good Austin Blythe. I thought
- 6:29Speaker 1: at times it was a little over matched. They kind
- 6:32Speaker 1: of did like a bare front where they cover up
- 6:35Speaker 1: the two guards and the center, so the center has
- 6:37Speaker 1: a one on one block, and so there were times
- 6:39Speaker 1: where there was a couple of passes where he got
- 6:41Speaker 1: pushed back into the quarterbacks lap. But but for the
- 6:44Speaker 1: most part, I thought he did what they wanted him
- 6:46Speaker 1: to do, which was an elite communicator with the offensive line,
- 6:50Speaker 1: getting him Gino getting on the right page and getting
- 6:53Speaker 1: people going right direction. And for that piece of it,
- 6:56Speaker 1: I thought he did a really good job. As the
- 6:58Speaker 1: line as it stands right now, how much do you
- 7:01Speaker 1: think the Seahawks have upgraded from years past? And I
- 7:04Speaker 1: know a lot of times it's been kind of the
- 7:05Speaker 1: punching bag. It's to the low hanging food. People talk
- 7:07Speaker 1: about the offensive line and people who don't know about
- 7:10Speaker 1: offensive line play like you do. Ray, So, how would
- 7:12Speaker 1: you say, as of right now, I know it's only
- 7:13Speaker 1: been one week, what's the state of the offensive line
- 7:16Speaker 1: and how much do you think this group's been upgraded
- 7:18Speaker 1: from last year and years pass? Yeah, I think probably
- 7:22Speaker 1: in the last four or five years this might be
- 7:24Speaker 1: potentially the best line that they can have because you know,
- 7:28Speaker 1: obviously had Dwayne Brown in there, and you're not gonna
- 7:31Speaker 1: replace a Hall of Famer like Dwayne Brown. But but
- 7:34Speaker 1: from top to bottom, including Phil Haynes and as you know,
- 7:38Speaker 1: filling in as a backup and Jake Karen filling in
- 7:41Speaker 1: at a guard or tackle, I think they have a
- 7:44Speaker 1: pretty deep offensive line. And like I said, I do
- 7:47Speaker 1: feel like probably the third quarter of the season that
- 7:51Speaker 1: this offensive line, if it stays healthy, will be one
- 7:53Speaker 1: of the better offensive lines of the league because those
- 7:55Speaker 1: young dudes will have a lot of snaps under the
- 7:57Speaker 1: belt that they start to understand the nuances of the
- 8:00Speaker 1: game and the moves that guys use and then be
- 8:03Speaker 1: able to make those corrections that they seem like very
- 8:05Speaker 1: coachable dudes, which is super important because some guys come
- 8:09Speaker 1: in it's just kind of hard to coach him or
- 8:10Speaker 1: they can't take the coaching from the field to the game,
- 8:13Speaker 1: and these guys seem to be able to do that.
- 8:14Speaker 1: So I think if they can just stay healthy, stay together,
- 8:17Speaker 1: keep getting a bunch of reps together in the big
- 8:20Speaker 1: moments and big games when they're playing for the real paychecks,
- 8:23Speaker 1: I really do think that they have two tackles for
- 8:25Speaker 1: the next ten to twelve years. And then you know,
- 8:28Speaker 1: Gave Jackson is a little bit older, but Damian Lewis
- 8:30Speaker 1: is a young dude. So they have the makings of
- 8:32Speaker 1: an offensive line that can be around for a long time.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Sounds like they have a good foundation right with that
- 8:38Speaker 1: offensive line. You mentioned the two tackles and young Damian Lewis,
- 8:42Speaker 1: but you know, Smith, I felt like help this offensive
- 8:44Speaker 1: line as well, stepping up the pocket, not trying to
- 8:46Speaker 1: get outside and put a lot of pressure on these tackles.
- 8:49Speaker 1: How did you see that relationship between Gino and the
- 8:53Speaker 1: offensive line creating that pocket well, you know, like we
- 8:57Speaker 1: always say, the guards and the tenor they create the
- 9:00Speaker 1: depth of the pocket and the tackles create the width
- 9:03Speaker 1: of the pocket. And I saw that that kind of
- 9:06Speaker 1: if you attached them all to a string, they kind
- 9:08Speaker 1: of worked well together. And then Gino found where he
- 9:11Speaker 1: needed to be in the pocket, whether it was stepping
- 9:13Speaker 1: up and then getting to the right or left or
- 9:15Speaker 1: just going right up the middle and throwing the football.
- 9:17Speaker 1: And so I thought they did a really good job
- 9:19Speaker 1: of protecting him, giving a pocket that wasn't uh you
- 9:22Speaker 1: didn't have Liman right in his face and hands right
- 9:24Speaker 1: in his face where he had to throw over all
- 9:25Speaker 1: of that. And then you know, that's the thing I
- 9:28Speaker 1: love about Gino is that Gino played within Gino like
- 9:32Speaker 1: that would have been to me. It could have been
- 9:34Speaker 1: like golf, and you know this bump, like sometimes you
- 9:38Speaker 1: go and you're like, I'm just gonna play my game
- 9:40Speaker 1: and then some dude that you don't know or start
- 9:42Speaker 1: smacking the ball ten twenty yards past you're you're drive,
- 9:45Speaker 1: and then you're like, well, man, I can't let that happen.
- 9:47Speaker 1: So then you get out of your game trying to
- 9:49Speaker 1: match that dude's drive. You know what I'm saying, and
- 9:52Speaker 1: then you're three, Like if you like me anyway, you're
- 9:54Speaker 1: four fare where he's over. And so when I look
- 9:56Speaker 1: at at you know, it would have been easy to
- 9:59Speaker 1: go like, man, Russell's doing his thing, I have to
- 10:02Speaker 1: like do something bigger than what Russell was doing. But
- 10:05Speaker 1: he didn't. He just stayed right within the framework of
- 10:08Speaker 1: what he's a of the ability that he has, and
- 10:11Speaker 1: I think that made all the difference in the world
- 10:14Speaker 1: because he took the check downs, he ran when he
- 10:16Speaker 1: had to, He made the right checks. He put the
- 10:19Speaker 1: ball where guys could catch it, like the Soda Parkinson
- 10:21Speaker 1: was awesome to do the six foot forever and so
- 10:24Speaker 1: he put the ball up there where a six foot
- 10:26Speaker 1: forever guys can get it. And so I think he
- 10:28Speaker 1: did a really good job of manipulating the pocket so
- 10:31Speaker 1: he could stay clean and find passing lanes and playing
- 10:34Speaker 1: within himself. And I think that really helped compliment the
- 10:36Speaker 1: rest of the office. Well, Big Bray, we appreciate you
- 10:39Speaker 1: jumping on with us last night was super fun. Or
- 10:42Speaker 1: Hoping for the similar results as he us take on
- 10:44Speaker 1: the San Francisco forty nine ers next week. But Ray
- 10:47Speaker 1: appreciate jopping on us and we'll talk to you next week.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Always dogs peas out alright, alright, that was Ray Roberts
- 10:56Speaker 1: inside the trenches. Now it's time for what had happened?
- 10:59Speaker 1: See what At first, what had happened was unhard all right,
- 11:07Speaker 1: I'll tell you what happened. Nast the lights for Briday
- 11:10Speaker 1: Littman Field is Monday night football. Russell Wilson is back
- 11:14Speaker 1: in town. The crowd is boing, and no one picked
- 11:17Speaker 1: the Seahawks to come out and perform the way that
- 11:19Speaker 1: they did. It wasn't a dominant performance. You look at
- 11:21Speaker 1: the numbers. You got two hundred plus yards of offense
- 11:24Speaker 1: over here, four hundred plus yards of offense over there.
- 11:26Speaker 1: But the Hawks show like, look, you still gotta go
- 11:29Speaker 1: out and play football, all right, You still have to
- 11:31Speaker 1: go out and show that you can beat a team
- 11:33Speaker 1: at home on Monday night football. It was exciting to
- 11:35Speaker 1: see these guys get after. The crowd was into it. Man, Oh,
- 11:39Speaker 1: that atmosphere was insane. We've talked about it, and I
- 11:41Speaker 1: don't think people really understand if you weren't in the building.
- 11:43Speaker 1: It was loud. It was shaking the press box when
- 11:46Speaker 1: you're in the radio booth and the window is open.
- 11:49Speaker 1: It is deafening. You can barely hear yourself in the headsets.
- 11:52Speaker 1: I know even the coach is having a tough time
- 11:54Speaker 1: hearing each other. So the atmosphere is crazy. We knew
- 11:56Speaker 1: it was gonna be. This game was talked about from
- 11:58Speaker 1: the day Russell Wilson was traded about this game, or
- 12:01Speaker 1: excuse me, since the data schedule came out, So the
- 12:03Speaker 1: hype was there, and Bump Man twelves enjoy it. Today
- 12:06Speaker 1: you should be walking out with your chest out, flexing
- 12:09Speaker 1: on people, letting everybody know because you had faith the
- 12:11Speaker 1: whole time, walking into work all kinds of hyped up
- 12:13Speaker 1: sore throat. Just because they brought it last night, I
- 12:16Speaker 1: can tell you, you you know, all the false start penalties
- 12:19Speaker 1: to lay games or twelves definitely had an impact on
- 12:21Speaker 1: the game. And it's just got to be satisfying Bump
- 12:24Speaker 1: for the coaches and everyone else to social media. This team,
- 12:27Speaker 1: just the way this team has been talked about, they're
- 12:30Speaker 1: the worst, Like they're a laughing sock, Like all of
- 12:32Speaker 1: a sudden, tea coach forgot how to coach, and all
- 12:34Speaker 1: of a sudden, John Schneider doesn't know what he's doing.
- 12:36Speaker 1: I mean, it's I think. I just feel so good
- 12:39Speaker 1: for everyone's building, Gino, include everybody, just to come out
- 12:42Speaker 1: there and get going right off top. It was really
- 12:44Speaker 1: good to see, great to see, and it started with
- 12:47Speaker 1: that first drive. Hawks get the ball first. You go
- 12:49Speaker 1: on to seven place, seventy yard drive and Gino show
- 12:53Speaker 1: his elusiveness early right in this play right here this
- 12:56Speaker 1: clip from Will Disley. He avoids the sack, keeps his
- 12:59Speaker 1: eye is downfield. Will Dissey is all by him, easy
- 13:03Speaker 1: throwing catch, thirty eight yard touchdown to start the game.
- 13:06Speaker 1: This gout the twelves into it. Marquis Goodwin is the
- 13:09Speaker 1: slot back on the right side. Homer is in the backfield.
- 13:11Speaker 1: On third down to two, here comes the blitz. Gino
- 13:13Speaker 1: side steps to Geno keep broving. Gino throws FLI on
- 13:16Speaker 1: the Dietley fifty ten TI cut down. Say hu a
- 13:25Speaker 1: flag is down, but Will Disley is in the end
- 13:29Speaker 1: zone thirty eight yards. Gino Smith, what a job he
- 13:35Speaker 1: did avoiding the rush. Looked like it was dead to
- 13:38Speaker 1: rights on the flitz, and he just rofed at it too.
- 13:42Speaker 1: Will Disley, who was wide open. Well, what I loved
- 13:46Speaker 1: about that play to who was this Gino? The elusiveness man.
- 13:48Speaker 1: People sleep on Gino as being an athlete. You know
- 13:51Speaker 1: what I mean for him to step up in the
- 13:53Speaker 1: pocket and keep in your eyes down the field, be
- 13:55Speaker 1: able to see Will Disley down the sideline there and
- 13:58Speaker 1: that balls in me here the oh I was holding
- 14:00Speaker 1: my breath. I'm like, oh no, because when you're that
- 14:02Speaker 1: wide open for both guys, whether it's a quarterback, receiver
- 14:05Speaker 1: tight end, that balls in the air forever and I'm like,
- 14:07Speaker 1: oh no, please tell me an overthrow him. But it
- 14:09Speaker 1: was a nice play by Gino endiously to finish out
- 14:11Speaker 1: the play and get the twelves on the board. Yeah,
- 14:13Speaker 1: when you're all by yourself by your loans and that
- 14:16Speaker 1: balls floating in the airs up there forever. So the
- 14:18Speaker 1: worst thing that could have happened did not happen. Thank
- 14:20Speaker 1: you Uncle Will for getting these guys off on the
- 14:22Speaker 1: right foot. On the next drive, Gino would drive the
- 14:25Speaker 1: team now, but it's stall on the seven yard seven
- 14:27Speaker 1: yard line on a fourth down. Now, I was I
- 14:30Speaker 1: liked the call going for it on fourth down because
- 14:32Speaker 1: you have to set the tone. You have to be
- 14:34Speaker 1: aggressive offensively, especially when you're down in the red zone
- 14:37Speaker 1: near the goal line. Gino slipped a little bit and
- 14:41Speaker 1: he probably got it, but with the cameras the angles
- 14:44Speaker 1: of that stuff, you couldn't get it real a clear
- 14:45Speaker 1: look at it, so it wasn't enough to overturn it.
- 14:48Speaker 1: But end of the day, I like the aggressiveness. I
- 14:51Speaker 1: like Shane Waldron had the stones, as Dave Wyman would say,
- 14:54Speaker 1: to make that call in that moment on Monday night.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Oh absolutely. And it was great to see too, because
- 14:59Speaker 1: you come out for first first drive to get a touchdown,
- 15:02Speaker 1: defense gets see the ball of the hildel Fiegle and
- 15:04Speaker 1: then you come right back and he marched all the
- 15:05Speaker 1: way down the field, so they had things going, so
- 15:07Speaker 1: why not you're at home. Those are the situations where
- 15:10Speaker 1: you have the momentum, so you might as well go
- 15:11Speaker 1: ahead and try to get that done. Unfortunately, they didn't,
- 15:13Speaker 1: like you, said, Gino kind of slip, So I love
- 15:15Speaker 1: I love the way Shane was aggressive and going for it.
- 15:19Speaker 1: And then after that, you know, Russell comes back and
- 15:22Speaker 1: there's an answer. Boom hits Jerry Judy for a six
- 15:25Speaker 1: seven yard touchdown, and that was tough on the rookie
- 15:27Speaker 1: corner Kobe Bryant. He's in good position as he's looking
- 15:31Speaker 1: back for the ball. It just kind of loses track
- 15:33Speaker 1: and just barely misses the ball, and then he's kind
- 15:35Speaker 1: of distorient it doesn't make the tackle, and it's it's touchdown.
- 15:39Speaker 1: It's just a learning it's a learning thing for a
- 15:41Speaker 1: young defensive back. He's right there, he's gonna make that play.
- 15:43Speaker 1: Nine times out of ten it happens. He once, probably
- 15:45Speaker 1: won't happen again. But right then and there though, it
- 15:48Speaker 1: showed Russell and those guys said, hey, we're not going
- 15:50Speaker 1: anywhere right here. Game is ten ten, And what I
- 15:53Speaker 1: love is again with the Seahawks did after the fact,
- 15:56Speaker 1: right Geno just marches the Seahawks down again for the
- 15:58Speaker 1: third consecutive drive, essentially right down the field, ends up
- 16:02Speaker 1: connecting with Kobe Parkinson for his first NFL touchdown, and
- 16:06Speaker 1: bub Man, that's what we've been wanted to see from Kobe.
- 16:08Speaker 1: He's a big target in that red zone. Six seven.
- 16:11Speaker 1: He'd done all the work in the offseason. You guys
- 16:13Speaker 1: talk to him on Hawks Live. He transformed his body.
- 16:16Speaker 1: So I loved seeing Kobe get involved in this offense. Yeah,
- 16:19Speaker 1: that's why he scored because it was on Hawks Live.
- 16:21Speaker 1: But me and Paul Moyer every Thursday. That's why. Good
- 16:23Speaker 1: luck man. But yeah, it's nice to see the with
- 16:26Speaker 1: the six seven tight in from Stanford go up and
- 16:28Speaker 1: get the ball. Genia put them on a perfect place.
- 16:30Speaker 1: We'll break that down on the coach's corner. But then
- 16:33Speaker 1: it was about the defense. After that. They came up
- 16:35Speaker 1: huge on three goal line stands. Two fumble recoveries by
- 16:40Speaker 1: the guy Mike Jackson, who made the team the hard way,
- 16:42Speaker 1: not expected to make this team, let alone start. He
- 16:44Speaker 1: gets to start and on one of the players, Will
- 16:48Speaker 1: Suit who had a great day himself, gets into the backfield,
- 16:51Speaker 1: forces the fumble. Mike Jackson scoops it up, hands the
- 16:57Speaker 1: ball offah fall on it. Well, you're fucking backfield duck
- 17:06Speaker 1: football is recovered by the Seahawks. Michael Jackson recovers the
- 17:11Speaker 1: ball the second time he's recovered in that end of
- 17:17Speaker 1: the fields. Defense stop Denver again. Man, there's nothing like
- 17:23Speaker 1: a goal line stand. I mean that energy when you
- 17:26Speaker 1: when you're back up against the wall. Get another fumble recovery,
- 17:29Speaker 1: which is a great play by who Channon who punches
- 17:31Speaker 1: the ball out. But what started that play was out Woods.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Out Woods taking the center and driving him right back
- 17:36Speaker 1: into the running back to Channing and Wosu attacking the football,
- 17:40Speaker 1: punches it out, Mike Jackson falls on the football, and again,
- 17:44Speaker 1: when you're in the right place, the ball find you. Right.
- 17:46Speaker 1: That's two times for Mike Jackson. So I love to
- 17:48Speaker 1: see it, and it's just a huge play by this defense.
- 17:50Speaker 1: I was really excited about Hu Channon and Wosu when
- 17:52Speaker 1: they signed him in Obviously, pay dividends right off top. Yeah,
- 17:56Speaker 1: be what you're supposed to be in good things happening, right.
- 17:59Speaker 1: That's That's the one of the things I've learned in
- 18:01Speaker 1: all my years watching football and covering football. If you're
- 18:03Speaker 1: where you're supposed to be, sometimes to the ball bounces
- 18:05Speaker 1: your way. Happened twice for Mike Jackson. But now we
- 18:08Speaker 1: gotta break down the end of this game. I mean,
- 18:11Speaker 1: this felt like a playoff game in that stadium. Why,
- 18:14Speaker 1: of course, because Russell's in town. Also Russell in the
- 18:17Speaker 1: Denver Broncos had the ball in their hands to win
- 18:21Speaker 1: the game. The Broncos faced a third and fourteen from
- 18:23Speaker 1: the Denver forty five with one to eleven left in
- 18:25Speaker 1: the fourth quarter. Then Javatan wims game nine yards, sending
- 18:28Speaker 1: up a fourth in five, but the Broncos somehow allowed
- 18:30Speaker 1: the block to run all the way down to twenty
- 18:32Speaker 1: seconds before calling the time out. Now, I'm gonna go
- 18:34Speaker 1: out and say that Nathaniel Hackett made up his mind
- 18:38Speaker 1: that he was going to kick this field goal. That's
- 18:40Speaker 1: the only reason why this makes sense. Goes, know what,
- 18:42Speaker 1: We're gonna have this clock run down. I want to
- 18:43Speaker 1: give them at least time as possible. If this doesn't
- 18:47Speaker 1: work out for him, then they lined him to kick
- 18:50Speaker 1: a sixty four yard field goal. Only one of these
- 18:53Speaker 1: have been made in the past what ten years or
- 18:55Speaker 1: something like that, and one of them was made in
- 18:58Speaker 1: indoors justin Tucker to win the game against the Detroit lines.
- 19:01Speaker 1: I was a sixty five yard The sixty four yard
- 19:03Speaker 1: was kicked in Denver. Prater was the kicker there. And
- 19:07Speaker 1: guess what in Denver the air is thinner. This is
- 19:09Speaker 1: the Northwest. The air is stick out here. All right,
- 19:11Speaker 1: you gotta kick that thing a little bit harder. But
- 19:14Speaker 1: they took the ball out of Russell Wilson's hands. Pay
- 19:16Speaker 1: this man two hundred and forty two million dollars. They said,
- 19:19Speaker 1: you know what, big Manus, you kick the ball, they miss,
- 19:22Speaker 1: We win well, twenty seconds left. McManus off the left
- 19:26Speaker 1: hash this thing is gonna be no good. It could
- 19:32Speaker 1: have been lock enough, but it was just to the
- 19:35Speaker 1: left of the upright and the Seahawks are gonna win
- 19:39Speaker 1: there opener, fifteen seconds left to players. Russell Wilson brings
- 19:44Speaker 1: his new team, the Broncos, to town on Monday night
- 19:48Speaker 1: football Tiler Locke at the captains, telling players get off
- 19:52Speaker 1: the field. We still have a couple of players to run.
- 19:56Speaker 1: I mean, I think you said it bump, you know,
- 19:58Speaker 1: hack it how to have been up his mind. But
- 20:01Speaker 1: obviously it's easy to play Monday morning quarterback. As we
- 20:04Speaker 1: hear after the game. But you're thinking, you got Russell Wilson.
- 20:06Speaker 1: This is why you brought him here, this is why
- 20:08Speaker 1: you paid him the money. And it's fourth and five.
- 20:11Speaker 1: I saw a bunch of stuff floating out after the
- 20:12Speaker 1: game the fourth in I think fourth and five and
- 20:15Speaker 1: plus in Russell's career under fourth and tenth something like that,
- 20:18Speaker 1: he's like sixty percent passer. So to take the ball
- 20:22Speaker 1: out of his hands there first, I would rather obviously
- 20:24Speaker 1: have Russell Wilson got a fourth and five of a
- 20:26Speaker 1: chance to get a first down, you still have timeouts
- 20:28Speaker 1: you can make even if you get ten yards there.
- 20:31Speaker 1: It makes it a much more manageable field goal. And
- 20:33Speaker 1: obviously McManus was drilling him in pregame because you went
- 20:36Speaker 1: to thought that in your thought process before. But it's
- 20:39Speaker 1: just hard to make that decision. But obviously, like I said,
- 20:42Speaker 1: it's easy to play Monday morning quarterback because while that
- 20:44Speaker 1: ball is in the air bump, we were all holding
- 20:46Speaker 1: our bath. I was like, oh my god, don't go through.
- 20:48Speaker 1: That was gonna be tragic, but it wasn't. Seahawks hold
- 20:51Speaker 1: on to win it seventeen sixteen. But now it's time
- 20:54Speaker 1: to talk about these playmakers. Namakers. There's only one place
- 21:08Speaker 1: to start, and that's Gino Smith. Gino Smith twenty three
- 21:13Speaker 1: of twenty eight, four hundred and ninety five yards and
- 21:15Speaker 1: two touchdowns QP rating of one nineteen point five. Gino
- 21:19Speaker 1: was seventeen of eighteen in the first half, and he
- 21:22Speaker 1: was just eight player since nineteen ninety four to complete
- 21:24Speaker 1: at least ninety four percent of his passes in the
- 21:26Speaker 1: first half while attempting at least eighteen Gino with everything
- 21:29Speaker 1: swarm around this game, all the high but all the talk,
- 21:32Speaker 1: everything and about Russell, Everything was about Russell coming into
- 21:35Speaker 1: this game from the outside perspective. For Gino to come
- 21:37Speaker 1: in and start the way that he did unfaced, we
- 21:40Speaker 1: talked about it in the pregame show. He was a
- 21:42Speaker 1: guy that's been consistently preparing for this moment. The moment
- 21:45Speaker 1: is not too big. He's had to hear all the
- 21:46Speaker 1: naysayers say he cannot play anymore. He's been behind some
- 21:50Speaker 1: of the grades between whether's Russell or Eli or Philip Rivers.
- 21:53Speaker 1: So for him to come out and have that performance
- 21:54Speaker 1: on that stage, in that atmosphere, it was so great
- 21:57Speaker 1: to see and it should just give all the twelve
- 21:59Speaker 1: confidence that Geno Smith indeed can play football. He's not
- 22:02Speaker 1: what Russell Wilson is with. This guy is a leader.
- 22:05Speaker 1: It seem out there running the football, giving up his
- 22:07Speaker 1: body getting first downs. I mean, if you're not inspired
- 22:10Speaker 1: by watching Gino Smith, you gotta check your posts, because
- 22:12Speaker 1: that man came out there and brought it and it
- 22:14Speaker 1: was really good to see a man win thirteen and
- 22:17Speaker 1: thirteen to open a game up. And on that fourteenth pass,
- 22:19Speaker 1: I take four responsibility for it because I brought it
- 22:22Speaker 1: to Paul Moore's attention that he was thirteen and thirteen,
- 22:24Speaker 1: So what happens He throws us to rash opinion over
- 22:26Speaker 1: he said, that's over way, but it ends a half
- 22:28Speaker 1: seventeen of eighteen, and he was exactly what Pete Carroll
- 22:33Speaker 1: said that he was. We know a lot of times
- 22:34Speaker 1: you gotta take what coaches say with a grain assault
- 22:36Speaker 1: because they're not going to tell you everything. We're not
- 22:38Speaker 1: on the inside. They're only gonna reveal so much to us.
- 22:41Speaker 1: But the way he described Gino was the way that
- 22:43Speaker 1: Gino playing the guy who knows the offense, who's under
- 22:46Speaker 1: control and can execute exactly what they want to do.
- 22:49Speaker 1: So it was, Yeah, it was fun to see Gino
- 22:52Speaker 1: quite all the naysayers and give us a foundation of
- 22:56Speaker 1: what we think this team could be and could grow from.
- 22:58Speaker 1: There's still so much to learn, so much to do,
- 23:00Speaker 1: but it's nice to start off the way that he
- 23:03Speaker 1: did and is should everybody up and he'd be russ Man.
- 23:06Speaker 1: That has to be has to feel rewarding for this guy.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Our next playmaker is uncle Will Dissey. He had three
- 23:12Speaker 1: receptions on three targets. For four to three yards in
- 23:14Speaker 1: one touchdown. You know what's ironic about Will Disley. The
- 23:17Speaker 1: last time we saw him against Denver, what he'd do.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Dude balled out his rookie year, balled out, and he
- 23:23Speaker 1: goes hard. We're playing Denver, run at home. This time,
- 23:25Speaker 1: I'm gonna do the same thing. Now. Granted, his touchdown
- 23:27Speaker 1: came because there was miss assignments in the defense, but
- 23:30Speaker 1: that ain't his fault. He still has to run his
- 23:32Speaker 1: route and get open. And watching h uncle will rumble
- 23:37Speaker 1: stumble bumble down into the end zone was a heck
- 23:41Speaker 1: of a scene. It set the tone, got everybody excited
- 23:43Speaker 1: at that moment. I'm like, Okay, these guys got a
- 23:46Speaker 1: real chance to hang with the Denver Broncos. Yeah, that
- 23:49Speaker 1: just set the tone. I mean everyone in the building,
- 23:51Speaker 1: and it kind of set the tone of the Broncos like, Yep,
- 23:53Speaker 1: this is not preseason. Your starters gotta play. This is real.
- 23:57Speaker 1: So anyone that you know, because sometimes I'm not ain't
- 24:00Speaker 1: Denver did this at all. I'm just saying sometimes if
- 24:02Speaker 1: you're listening to the noise and all you hear is
- 24:04Speaker 1: how bad this team is, and you're just gonna show
- 24:06Speaker 1: up there and smack him and it's all about Three's homecoming. No.
- 24:09Speaker 1: That set the tone for the game. So I love
- 24:11Speaker 1: to see it from Uncle Will in that same room.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Kobe Parkinson. We're gonna talk about him more in a second,
- 24:16Speaker 1: but two receptions forty three yards and a touchdown, first
- 24:18Speaker 1: career touchdown, and it's, like we said earlier, great to
- 24:21Speaker 1: see him get involved. He's a guy that the Seahawks
- 24:23Speaker 1: really need to be a part of this offense. And
- 24:25Speaker 1: I think you mentioned this at several times throughout the
- 24:28Speaker 1: preseason and on our game on Sunday. We have three
- 24:31Speaker 1: tight ends in this room that can do three different things.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Between No, A fan will distilely in Kobe Parkinson. Kobe
- 24:38Speaker 1: Parkinson can be that threat in the red zone, can
- 24:41Speaker 1: go up and get the football. But it's also form
- 24:43Speaker 1: changed his body and now can really help in the
- 24:45Speaker 1: run game. Will Disley can do it all. No offensive
- 24:48Speaker 1: guy that has wiggle and is going to get by you,
- 24:50Speaker 1: and it's going to be someone that's gonna be a
- 24:51Speaker 1: real threat in passing game, and it's a real dual threat.
- 24:53Speaker 1: So when both these guys are sometimes all three of
- 24:56Speaker 1: them run the field, you can't say, hey, bump. They're
- 24:58Speaker 1: in twenty one personnel. They're ain't two person out there
- 25:00Speaker 1: for sure running the football because we saw the formations
- 25:02Speaker 1: they showed last night. So having three guys that can
- 25:06Speaker 1: do all of it really helps Shane Waldron and opens
- 25:08Speaker 1: up that playbook definitely does tight end's most versatile guys
- 25:12Speaker 1: on offense. The next playmakers interior lineman. We knew what
- 25:16Speaker 1: we were gonna get out of Jordan Brooks. This guy
- 25:18Speaker 1: was second in the league in tackles last year. But
- 25:20Speaker 1: the question mark was Cody Barton. What is he gonna
- 25:24Speaker 1: look like? This is first time really being a starter, right,
- 25:26Speaker 1: He's filled in a couple of games here and there
- 25:28Speaker 1: because this guy's being hurt. But he showed out and
- 25:30Speaker 1: did his saying Cody Barton had ten tackles, one sack,
- 25:32Speaker 1: two TFLs in one quarterback and of course Jordan Books
- 25:36Speaker 1: Brooks have the green down on his talment. Different type
- 25:39Speaker 1: of role for this defense. You are the mic linebacker.
- 25:42Speaker 1: You are the guy who has to communicate with him
- 25:44Speaker 1: what everybody was. You do twelve tackles. So it's encouraging
- 25:47Speaker 1: to see the interior linebackers have a good game because
- 25:52Speaker 1: in this three four defense the weaknesses. You should be
- 25:55Speaker 1: able to run the football a bit against these guys
- 25:57Speaker 1: because these guards are gonna be able to climb to
- 25:59Speaker 1: that second level and get bodies on these interior linement quickly.
- 26:02Speaker 1: So it's encouraging to see these guys put up the
- 26:05Speaker 1: numbers that they did. And for fifty seven Cody Barton
- 26:08Speaker 1: to get a sack on his former teammate, Oh yeah,
- 26:11Speaker 1: that's great to see. And you know, Dave Linman has
- 26:13Speaker 1: been a Cody Barton and you know enthusiasts for since
- 26:16Speaker 1: he showed up in Seattle, saying he had the best
- 26:18Speaker 1: opening camp he's ever seen from a player to come
- 26:20Speaker 1: through here. So really good to see Cody Barton, you know,
- 26:23Speaker 1: stay the course and finding his opportunity and show up
- 26:25Speaker 1: and the show out on the big stage. Kind of
- 26:27Speaker 1: staying with that three four interior. Chenna a wosue Man
- 26:31Speaker 1: loved what we saw from him. Extremely effective in his debut.
- 26:34Speaker 1: Seven tackles, one sack, one TfL one pass, defended, two
- 26:38Speaker 1: QB hits in one force fumble. This man can do
- 26:40Speaker 1: it all. What I love about him is he's interchangeable.
- 26:43Speaker 1: He's gonna be in that three four position. He can
- 26:46Speaker 1: drop in coverage and it doesn't look like it did.
- 26:48Speaker 1: No disrespect to some of the guys that we're doing
- 26:50Speaker 1: that last year. He's a good athlete, and he's a
- 26:52Speaker 1: good pass rusher, he's a good tackler. He's just a
- 26:54Speaker 1: really solid, good football player, and he's a big addition
- 26:57Speaker 1: to this defense. Yeah, he's one of those guys that
- 27:01Speaker 1: we're gonna depend on to get pressure and be that
- 27:04Speaker 1: athletic presence on the outside. Him and Daryl Taylor. So
- 27:06Speaker 1: match who wants both those guys get going? Man, those
- 27:09Speaker 1: edge rusher slash outside lionkers, just call them hybrids. They're
- 27:13Speaker 1: gonna get ready to go. Michael Jackson is one of
- 27:16Speaker 1: the best stories out of the camp. Every year there's
- 27:19Speaker 1: a guy who makes a team that you don't really
- 27:20Speaker 1: expect to make the team that you're rooting for, an
- 27:23Speaker 1: underdog in this year was Michael Jackson. We saw him
- 27:25Speaker 1: during the preseason and make play after player after play.
- 27:28Speaker 1: This guy got a bunch of snaps out there, and
- 27:30Speaker 1: then the depth chart is released and they got him started.
- 27:33Speaker 1: So then you look at the depth chart and you're like,
- 27:35Speaker 1: all right, they got Michael Jackson started. When Sidney Jones
- 27:37Speaker 1: gets healthy, they're probably gonna insert him into that starting position.
- 27:41Speaker 1: Sidney Jones was healthy and he did not start. They
- 27:43Speaker 1: went with Michael Jackson. So the show's in this organization.
- 27:46Speaker 1: If you do what you're supposed to do, you have
- 27:47Speaker 1: an opportunity to go out there and play ball. And
- 27:49Speaker 1: that's exactly what he did. Four tackles, one tackle for loss,
- 27:52Speaker 1: one pass offended, two bumble recoveries. Be where you're supposed
- 27:57Speaker 1: to be, and you will make plays. Michael Jackson is
- 28:01Speaker 1: the Rudy, the Rocky of this team this year. Many
- 28:04Speaker 1: will it's fun to see number thirty do his thing. Yeah,
- 28:07Speaker 1: I'd love to see it too, because one fundamental in
- 28:09Speaker 1: any Pete Carroll defense is keeping people in front of you.
- 28:12Speaker 1: So we knew Mike Jackson was physical, we knew what
- 28:14Speaker 1: he could do. But when you're lining up against guys
- 28:16Speaker 1: like Jared Judy and those guys that can stretch the field,
- 28:19Speaker 1: get down the field Quote and Sutton and keeping everything
- 28:21Speaker 1: in front while being physical, he's just putting confidence in
- 28:24Speaker 1: that coaching staff that I'm gonna be where I'm supposed
- 28:26Speaker 1: to be at all times. I'm gonna I'm gonna tackle,
- 28:28Speaker 1: I'm gonna be physical. So love to see Mike Jackson
- 28:31Speaker 1: balling out. One of the great stories in Bump. The
- 28:33Speaker 1: last thing about him that I love is a lot
- 28:35Speaker 1: of times will have a great story. Or there'll be
- 28:36Speaker 1: a guy that everyone falls in love with and he
- 28:38Speaker 1: makes the team, but then that guy kind of just
- 28:40Speaker 1: maybe only these on special teams, or he's just depth
- 28:43Speaker 1: from Mike Jackson. To go from a practice squad guy
- 28:45Speaker 1: to a starter on this football team is just insane.
- 28:48Speaker 1: So love to see Mike Jackson balling out. Now, bomb,
- 28:52Speaker 1: Let's get to these wide receivers. Man. A lot of
- 28:54Speaker 1: people getting some action. A lot of people get some action.
- 28:58Speaker 1: What do you see from this unit yesterday? I saw
- 29:01Speaker 1: the tight ends lead play something we've been asking for
- 29:03Speaker 1: for a very long time in Seattle. Get the tight
- 29:05Speaker 1: ends evolved. You talk about Kobe Parkinson. He had two
- 29:08Speaker 1: receptions for forty three scores his first NFL touchdown. Uncle
- 29:12Speaker 1: Will gets the party going. He has three for forty
- 29:14Speaker 1: three and one touchdown no offense. The guy we got
- 29:17Speaker 1: in a trade for Russell Wilson had three for sixteen
- 29:20Speaker 1: on four targets. Tight ends gut involved early. I think
- 29:23Speaker 1: that's what nine targets for these tight ends. Now the receivers.
- 29:26Speaker 1: DCA had a lot of targets. He had seven targets,
- 29:30Speaker 1: seven receptions for thirty six yards. Seemed like they tried
- 29:32Speaker 1: to get him involved more in the screen game. I
- 29:34Speaker 1: think they show trying to figure out how to get
- 29:36Speaker 1: these guys behind the defense, including title locket three for
- 29:38Speaker 1: twenty eight, a really big catch on that opening drive
- 29:42Speaker 1: to kind of ease everybody, calm everybody down. Marquis Gilwin
- 29:45Speaker 1: had two for twenty two, had a nice catch on
- 29:47Speaker 1: a scramble by Gino on the left sideline toe tap
- 29:52Speaker 1: get in there was shot. Penny had one for seven,
- 29:54Speaker 1: and d Escot had one for zero, but he did
- 29:57Speaker 1: get a tonting penalty out of that thing. So we've
- 29:59Speaker 1: given those fifteen yards, no love it and just quickly bump.
- 30:03Speaker 1: How would you think moving forward? We'll get into it
- 30:06Speaker 1: in our next podcast as we preview the forty nine ers.
- 30:08Speaker 1: How can DK and Tyler get more involved like we
- 30:10Speaker 1: expect to see them throughout the year and as they
- 30:12Speaker 1: have been since they've been in Seattle. Yeah, you know,
- 30:16Speaker 1: I think against the Denver Broncles, they knew that or
- 30:19Speaker 1: the plan for them was to keep people on top
- 30:21Speaker 1: right do not allow the explosive play. I think they
- 30:24Speaker 1: wanted Gino to have to go seventeen for eighteen, to
- 30:27Speaker 1: have to go twenty three of twenty eight. I don't
- 30:30Speaker 1: think they believe that they can do that. So what
- 30:32Speaker 1: do you do? You crowd that intermediate level, You keep
- 30:34Speaker 1: two high safeties over the top, and you say, okay,
- 30:36Speaker 1: let's see what you do. So now, how do you
- 30:38Speaker 1: get these guys involved? I think it all comes down
- 30:40Speaker 1: to the run as normal. You gotta be able to
- 30:42Speaker 1: run the football, and then you boot and get these
- 30:44Speaker 1: guys behind. So now that the Hawks have shown that
- 30:47Speaker 1: they will take the underneath stuff, Okay, we'll throw it
- 30:49Speaker 1: to the tight end, we'll throw it to the flat,
- 30:51Speaker 1: we'll throw it to the running back, these guys on
- 30:53Speaker 1: the defense are gonna have to play up a bit more. So.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Now that's gonna open up throwing lanes behind these guys.
- 30:58Speaker 1: So you know, dk Locket, just be patient. They can't
- 31:00Speaker 1: guard everybody all right. Now you got three tight ends
- 31:02Speaker 1: to worry about. You got some receivers to worry about
- 31:05Speaker 1: as well. No, I can't wait for it. You, like
- 31:07Speaker 1: you said, I love how when you put stuff on film,
- 31:10Speaker 1: you start setting stuff up week to week. So now
- 31:12Speaker 1: for the first time, everyone's kind of been wondering what
- 31:14Speaker 1: what's his offense gonna look like? With Gino Smith at
- 31:16Speaker 1: the helm Shane Waldron in year two. Now you have
- 31:18Speaker 1: everything on tape so far, and that's where the forty
- 31:21Speaker 1: nine ers have to look at. But Gino Shane is
- 31:22Speaker 1: gonna build off that and have a lot to grow
- 31:25Speaker 1: as a season moves on. We're gonna shift gears into
- 31:27Speaker 1: the coach's corner, a play we've mentioned a lot today
- 31:30Speaker 1: so far. Gino Smith finds Colby Parkinson for his first
- 31:34Speaker 1: career NFL touchdownsneking down in six offset on, Gino steps
- 31:39Speaker 1: up in the pockets, throws out Phil Parkinson to down
- 31:46Speaker 1: Gino Smith absolutely perfect pass down the scenes to Cooby
- 31:52Speaker 1: Parkinson a twenty five yard touchdown, and Gino he is
- 31:58Speaker 1: justly playing like I'm Agitian tonight, seeing everything moving to
- 32:05Speaker 1: the open spot and throwing perfect passes to lead sixteen ten.
- 32:12Speaker 1: Now's this was a well designed play. You hear Rabel
- 32:18Speaker 1: talking about an offset eye, so let me paint the
- 32:20Speaker 1: picture for you. You got Penny hard in that pistol.
- 32:23Speaker 1: Look behind Geno and you also have Will Disseys to
- 32:26Speaker 1: the right side. Initially before the motion, you got Kobe
- 32:29Speaker 1: Parkinson on the left side of the formation. They motioned
- 32:32Speaker 1: him over to the right. So now there's what you
- 32:34Speaker 1: call a nasty look on that right side. That means
- 32:36Speaker 1: that number one receiver, who's Tyler Lockett right now closer
- 32:40Speaker 1: to the tackle than he normally is. He really is
- 32:42Speaker 1: like in a slop position, and you have Kobe Parkinson
- 32:45Speaker 1: right next to him. So there's one, two, three, four
- 32:48Speaker 1: skill guys to the right side. They're trying to overload
- 32:50Speaker 1: that right side. Backside, you have DK one on one.
- 32:53Speaker 1: Now what's gonna happen is the number one receiver who's
- 32:56Speaker 1: in that nasty look, who's closer to the tackle than
- 32:58Speaker 1: normally is is Tyler Lockehm, he's gonna run like a
- 33:01Speaker 1: shallow He's gonna go across the formation. And Penny and
- 33:05Speaker 1: Will Disley, who's serving as that offset fullback, they're gonna
- 33:09Speaker 1: swing to the right. So imagine you got get the
- 33:10Speaker 1: number one receiver going to the left grabbing attention. You
- 33:13Speaker 1: got two running backs swinging to the right. I think
- 33:16Speaker 1: where the Broncos mess up here is that corner seems
- 33:19Speaker 1: to be in a man look and everyone else is
- 33:21Speaker 1: in his zone. I don't know if there's a miscommunication
- 33:23Speaker 1: here or exactly what happened. Who's wrong with who's right,
- 33:25Speaker 1: but they're not on the same page. What that does
- 33:28Speaker 1: is those two running backs swinging to the right expands
- 33:31Speaker 1: the linebackers. That means they're getting whipped. They're flowing to
- 33:34Speaker 1: the right as well, respecting those two. You look at
- 33:36Speaker 1: this single high safety. Now, Tyler Lockett grabs the attention
- 33:40Speaker 1: of him. All right, he's looking inside that Tyler Lockett.
- 33:43Speaker 1: He goes that might be a deep cross. He's got
- 33:44Speaker 1: one on one with DK to his right side. He
- 33:47Speaker 1: doesn't want to leave DK because that corner flows and
- 33:50Speaker 1: everyone else is in his own. Kobe Parkinson is allowed
- 33:53Speaker 1: to run down the team, get behind those linebackers, the
- 33:56Speaker 1: safeties on the other side of the field. Geno sees it.
- 34:00Speaker 1: Roll it up to the sixth seven guy, touchdown. Yeah, bump,
- 34:04Speaker 1: you explained it absolutely beautifully and then tough part about
- 34:06Speaker 1: that if you're the linebacker. He's kind of left. As
- 34:09Speaker 1: he takes his shovel steps outside, he sees Kolby. He's like, Okay,
- 34:12Speaker 1: I'm good, I'm gonna have a little help over the top. No,
- 34:14Speaker 1: you don't write past him down the seam and again
- 34:18Speaker 1: it seems like the great play design. But what I
- 34:20Speaker 1: love is a perfect pitching catch right Gino throws them
- 34:23Speaker 1: up and throws it to a spot, makes it so
- 34:25Speaker 1: your six seven guy goes up and gets it and
- 34:27Speaker 1: it's an easy touchdown and you can see before Kolby
- 34:29Speaker 1: can even get both feet down, he's got both feet
- 34:31Speaker 1: up in the air. The fans are pumped up. Goda
- 34:34Speaker 1: love to see it if we see more of that,
- 34:36Speaker 1: and again creating stuff putting pressure on guys. I think
- 34:40Speaker 1: with Shane and what we've seen from him when he
- 34:41Speaker 1: came from the Rams and what we saw parts of
- 34:43Speaker 1: it last year, is when you put pressure on defense,
- 34:46Speaker 1: you dictate to them, you make them make decisions, You
- 34:48Speaker 1: put those guys in the secondary in and buying, and
- 34:51Speaker 1: when you do stuff like that, because I'm sure when
- 34:52Speaker 1: they're watching film they didn't see much of that nasty
- 34:55Speaker 1: look from the Seahawks last year, and watching film they
- 34:57Speaker 1: didn't see all these formations were both tight ends or
- 34:59Speaker 1: in the back fields, plait on either side, motion, a
- 35:02Speaker 1: cross formation going heavy one side. So I love what
- 35:05Speaker 1: like I said earlier. I love what Shane did to
- 35:07Speaker 1: put that stuff on film to have people thinking that.
- 35:09Speaker 1: So that's gonna be in the forty nine ers meetings
- 35:11Speaker 1: this week. Okay, this is what we do against this
- 35:12Speaker 1: look because you get this look and then I know
- 35:15Speaker 1: the coaching staff will have a lot of different looks
- 35:17Speaker 1: off that next week, so it'll be good. But Bump,
- 35:20Speaker 1: you know what my favorite formation is victory. Let's go.
- 35:26Speaker 1: Here comes the Seahawk offense onto the field and the
- 35:28Speaker 1: Vikings defense trudging out there knowing that one kneel down
- 35:34Speaker 1: and the Seahawks are gonna wind the clock down and
- 35:37Speaker 1: win this one. It's the victory formation on Hawk Talk.
- 35:41Speaker 1: Seahawks take care business in the home opener. Geno Smith props.
- 35:46Speaker 1: He was out there, ignored the noise. Played a hell
- 35:48Speaker 1: of a football game started thirteen and thirteen, had two touchdowns,
- 35:51Speaker 1: do turnovers. The lights were not too bright for the Seahawks,
- 35:54Speaker 1: especially with them action green uniforms. They came up, took
- 35:57Speaker 1: care of business at home and beat Russell Wilson coming
- 36:00Speaker 1: back to Lottman Field. So it was great to see
- 36:02Speaker 1: man Russell did this thing. You can't even lie like
- 36:04Speaker 1: Russell played well, had over three hundred yards, one touchdown,
- 36:07Speaker 1: didn't turn the ball over, but when it counted when
- 36:10Speaker 1: you got when they got into the red zone, they
- 36:12Speaker 1: could not score. They were over four in the red zone,
- 36:14Speaker 1: felling three times inside the Seahawks ten yard line. When
- 36:18Speaker 1: you can stop in offense after they drive the ball
- 36:20Speaker 1: all the way down the field multiple times, that has
- 36:24Speaker 1: to be heartbreaking. Oh absolutely. I mean you watched a
- 36:27Speaker 1: couple times when they were walking off the field, it
- 36:29Speaker 1: just felt like the body language from the Denver sideline
- 36:32Speaker 1: was dejected every time you look at the running backs.
- 36:34Speaker 1: I mean, it's a lonely place to meet when you fumble.
- 36:37Speaker 1: Obviously the number one thing about this game is taking
- 36:39Speaker 1: care of the ball. But you do it in the
- 36:40Speaker 1: red zone, we do it on the go line. I
- 36:41Speaker 1: mean that that's hard to that's hard to overcome. And
- 36:44Speaker 1: then defensively, building off that, guy's like wu Chenna, Michael Jackson,
- 36:48Speaker 1: Tarique will and Alwoods Jordan Brooks all had great games
- 36:51Speaker 1: and really kind of showed us the tip of the
- 36:54Speaker 1: iceberg for this new three four defense under Clint Hurt
- 36:57Speaker 1: and just the potential that this unit has to be
- 37:00Speaker 1: successful on defense. Yeah, that was really what we're anticipating.
- 37:04Speaker 1: We're anticipating a lot, But what is his office gonna
- 37:07Speaker 1: look like? Because we knew they were vanilla during the preseason.
- 37:09Speaker 1: Then what is his defense gonna look like? Because we
- 37:10Speaker 1: did not see a lot of the starters out there,
- 37:12Speaker 1: and then you mentioned some rookies. A rookie or two
- 37:15Speaker 1: got to play there as well. But offensively, you start
- 37:17Speaker 1: two rookie tackles, something that does not happen in this
- 37:19Speaker 1: league often, and in this office in line only allows
- 37:22Speaker 1: two sex. That means they were able to handle the pressure.
- 37:24Speaker 1: We broke down that Kobe Parkinson video and that pocket
- 37:27Speaker 1: was beautiful, and those tackles on the edge did a
- 37:29Speaker 1: great job creating that pocket. But we know that this
- 37:32Speaker 1: ain't it like these guys can play better. They still
- 37:34Speaker 1: left plays out there on offense, They still left plays
- 37:36Speaker 1: out there on defense. Treke Woollen played great, still had
- 37:40Speaker 1: what two pass interference calls, you know what I mean.
- 37:42Speaker 1: They still got to outflank sometimes when it comes to
- 37:44Speaker 1: the run game. In the past game, they did what
- 37:46Speaker 1: they could do to win this game. But we know
- 37:49Speaker 1: that they're just gonna get better. Yeah, No, that's that's
- 37:52Speaker 1: the great thing. About a team like this. They didn't
- 37:54Speaker 1: peak on Week one, that's just the beginning. This is
- 37:57Speaker 1: a good football team. They're going to continue to play
- 38:00Speaker 1: in that role. As long as people doubt them, They're
- 38:01Speaker 1: going to continue to win football game. So it was
- 38:03Speaker 1: great to see the twelves out there looming Field pumped up.
- 38:06Speaker 1: It was an awesome start to the season. So I'm
- 38:08Speaker 1: really excited about what this team can do this year.
- 38:10Speaker 1: Seahawks sit alone in first place, only team in the
- 38:13Speaker 1: National Football League that has a one game lead across
- 38:15Speaker 1: their entire division. Time to go one on O next
- 38:18Speaker 1: week as a Seahawks take on the San Francisco forty
- 38:20Speaker 1: nine Ers in Santa Clara, kickoff at one oh five.
- 38:22Speaker 1: The pregame show get going at ten am in Seattle. Bump,
- 38:26Speaker 1: it was a great first show after the first victory show.
- 38:29Speaker 1: We want to have a lot of these shows, a
- 38:30Speaker 1: lot of victory formations moving forward. Remember you can catch
