- 0:22SPEAKER_00: We're in the middle of a short series on New Year's goals for writers.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: Over the last few days, we've talked about writing a book, joining a writing group, and making more money with your writing this year.
- 0:33SPEAKER_00: And those are all fantastic goals that will increase your impact and your income.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: But today I want us to turn the focus elsewhere.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: It's great to think about your own success, and I think in fact it's really vital to think about your own success.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: However, I want you to also think about how you can serve and mentor other writers.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: You know, it doesn't really matter where you are on your writing journey.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: You might be a full-time writer with 20 books published, or you might be relatively new to the writing world, and you're just trying to gain some confidence and get your feet wet in this space.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: Whatever level of experience you have as a writer, there's always somebody who needs to learn what you know.
- 1:10SPEAKER_00: They need somebody to help them.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: They need somebody to believe in them.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: They need somebody who's going to help show them the way.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: So I want you to take a look around at your social media friends or your personal network.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: Who is one single person that you know is interested in writing, somebody that you can help and somebody who you can encourage and inspire with what you know about writing.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: Maybe they need somebody to give them some feedback about their writing.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: Maybe they need help setting up their blog.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: Maybe they need an intro to people that you know who could help them in some other way.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: Whatever the case, be intentional about reaching out to others and finding ways to help them.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: And this doesn't need to take a lot of time.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: It could be as simple as sending a Facebook message or sending an email or a text message.
- 1:53SPEAKER_00: I promise you that somebody in your network needs your wisdom, knowledge, and connections.
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: So here's today's challenge.
- 2:01SPEAKER_00: Take three minutes to brainstorm a few people that you could help.
- 2:05SPEAKER_00: Then get in touch with one of them and ask how you can help them.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: Thanks for listening, and I'll see you tomorrow.
