- 0:00Speaker 1: Chapter nine Evil. If a man would hasten towards the good,
- 0:07Speaker 1: he should keep his thought away from evil. If a
- 0:11Speaker 1: man does what is good slothfully, his mind delights in evil.
- 0:19Speaker 1: If a man commits a sin, let him not do
- 0:23Speaker 1: it again, Let him not delight in sin. Pain is
- 0:28Speaker 1: the outcome of evil. If a man does what is good,
- 0:34Speaker 1: let him do it again, let him delight in it.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Happiness is the outcome of good. Even an evil doer
- 0:44Speaker 1: sees happiness as long as his evil deed has not ripened.
- 0:49Speaker 1: But when his evil deed has ripened, then does the
- 0:53Speaker 1: evil doer see evil. Even a good man sees evil
- 1:00Speaker 1: days as long as his good deed has not ripened.
- 1:05Speaker 1: But when his good deed has ripened, then does the
- 1:09Speaker 1: good man see happy days. Let no man think lightly
- 1:16Speaker 1: of evil, saying in his heart, it will not come
- 1:20Speaker 1: nigh unto me. Even by the falling of water drops.
- 1:25Speaker 1: A water pot is filled, the fool becomes full of evil,
- 1:31Speaker 1: even if he gather it little by little. Let no
- 1:36Speaker 1: man think lightly of good, saying in his heart, it
- 1:41Speaker 1: will not come nigh unto me. Even by the falling
- 1:46Speaker 1: of water drops. A water pot is filled, The wise
- 1:51Speaker 1: man becomes full of good, even if he gather it
- 1:55Speaker 1: little by little. Let a man avoid evil deeds. As
- 2:03Speaker 1: a merchant, if he has few companions and carries much wealth,
- 2:08Speaker 1: avoids a dangerous road. As a man who loves life
- 2:13Speaker 1: avoids poison. He who has no wound on his hand
- 2:21Speaker 1: may touch poison with his hand. Poison does not affect
- 2:25Speaker 1: one who has no wound. Nor is there evil for
- 2:30Speaker 1: one who does not commit evil. If a man offend
- 2:36Speaker 1: a harmless, pure and innocent person, the evil falls back
- 2:42Speaker 1: upon that fool, like light dust thrown up against the wind.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Some people are born again. Evil doers go to hell,
- 2:54Speaker 1: Righteous people go to heaven. Those who are free from
- 2:58Speaker 1: all worldly desires attained nirvana. Not in the sky, not
- 3:06Speaker 1: in the midst of the sea, Not if we enter
- 3:10Speaker 1: into the clefts of the mountains. Is there known a
- 3:13Speaker 1: spot in the whole world where a man might be
- 3:17Speaker 1: freed from an evil deed. Not in the sky, not
- 3:24Speaker 1: in the midst of the sea, Not if we enter
- 3:27Speaker 1: into the clefts of the mountains. Is there known a
- 3:31Speaker 1: spot in the whole world where death could not overcome
- 3:36Speaker 1: the mortal End of Chapter nine
