Transcript
- 0:10Speaker 1: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark, a Hallmark review podcast. I'm
- 0:13Speaker 1: Megan and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan and I had
- 0:15Speaker 1: a chance to sit down for a minute with Vanessa
- 0:17Speaker 1: Lanky's and Marcus Rossner, stars of Snowbound for the Holidays,
- 0:21Speaker 1: out tomorrow Saturday, July eighteenth, as part of Hallmark's Christmas
- 0:26Speaker 1: in July lineup. We hope you enjoyed this short chat
- 0:29Speaker 1: about their movie and tune into Hallmark Saturday night for
- 0:33Speaker 1: Snowband for the Holidays or check it out on Sunday
- 0:36Speaker 1: on Hallmark Plus. And I saw Hi, Marcus, thank you
- 0:38Speaker 1: so much for your time. I'm Megan from Girls Gone Hallmark.
- 0:42Speaker 1: I just want to jump right in Marcus. Your character
- 0:45Speaker 1: Trey whereas a walkman this entire movie, and I have
- 0:48Speaker 1: a couple questions. First of all, did it actually work?
- 0:52Speaker 2: You know what it did?
- 0:53Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 0:54Speaker 2: It was like a little old relative pulled them out
- 0:56Speaker 2: of the box at the top of the shoot, I
- 0:59Speaker 2: think open. At one point there was like a really
- 1:01Speaker 2: like janky, old like plastic clip on the back that
- 1:05Speaker 2: sort of attached it to my belt and eventually it
- 1:07Speaker 2: just kind of snapped off and then we had to
- 1:08Speaker 2: like taping on, but it was a functioning thing. I
- 1:12Speaker 2: had a little tape in there, and I think we
- 1:14Speaker 2: would play with it between takes and see what you
- 1:17Speaker 2: get on it.
- 1:17Speaker 1: And your character is a real analog dude. He's not
- 1:21Speaker 1: into the digitize everything kind of life. Can you relate
- 1:24Speaker 1: to that? Stick with what works kind of attitude?
- 1:27Speaker 2: First of all, I love the speed at which you're
- 1:29Speaker 2: speaking to take advantage of these like seven minutes in
- 1:31Speaker 2: heaven that we have, Like it's the figures so fast.
- 1:34Speaker 2: So I'm like, that's the right way to do it.
- 1:36Speaker 2: What was the question? Now that I've totally thrown it off, but.
- 1:40Speaker 1: I can you relate to Trey's analog style or are you.
- 1:44Speaker 2: More I yeah, I don't. I don't know. I like
- 1:50Speaker 2: to write things down and then cross them off, like
- 1:54Speaker 2: there's like a list app Then that doesn't really work
- 1:56Speaker 2: for me, So I don't know. I'm a bit of
- 1:58Speaker 2: a split. I'm a millennial. I'm kind of like bridge
- 2:00Speaker 2: the gap between you know, lot of times I only.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Watch movies on VHS player, VHS player and VHS movies.
- 2:11Speaker 1: I love that my husband would relate to that. We're
- 2:14Speaker 1: still a DVD family.
- 2:15Speaker 3: I just got a VHS player, VHS, DVD player t
- 2:20Speaker 3: O combo both. Yeah. Now I'm like love, you know,
- 2:22Speaker 3: I have to look in and getting DVDs.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Vanessa, your character Cassidy learns to ski in one lesson,
- 2:29Speaker 1: and as a person who did learn to ski as
- 2:30Speaker 1: an adult and it did not go as smoothly as
- 2:33Speaker 1: it did for Cassidy, I need to know what that
- 2:35Speaker 1: experience was like for you. Are you an experienced skier?
- 2:40Speaker 2: I do.
- 2:41Speaker 3: I just want to say thank you for noticing that
- 2:43Speaker 3: Cassidy just does things very quickly. I did. I have
- 2:46Speaker 3: not yet seen the movie, but I did see the
- 2:48Speaker 3: clip of her untangling the Christmas lights. Okay, lack. How
- 2:53Speaker 3: quickly she's does stuff. There's like a little, a little
- 2:58Speaker 3: magical essence to her that I didn't really expect as
- 3:00Speaker 3: I was acting it out. And I used to snowboard,
- 3:04Speaker 3: and I snowboarded a lot, and so skiing was new
- 3:09Speaker 3: for me. And I'm trying to think, oh, I know,
- 3:13Speaker 3: it was just they put me on skis. But how
- 3:17Speaker 3: did we do that? Marcus, I was on skis and
- 3:19Speaker 3: I just did it. I don't know.
- 3:20Speaker 2: We shout this movie so long ago. Now we're both
- 3:23Speaker 2: like hard to remember the details a year.
- 3:25Speaker 3: Was it like Vanessa ski you are like Cassidy really quick?
- 3:34Speaker 2: I remember we were both on skis. We only had
- 3:36Speaker 2: to ski like twenty feet in that one thing. We
- 3:38Speaker 2: both had doubles for like bigger stuff. But she was
- 3:41Speaker 2: on the streets and she did have to sort of
- 3:43Speaker 2: like splide into this this little crash that we did,
- 3:47Speaker 2: and she did it beautifully. Well.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Something that you did not have doubles for was the
- 3:52Speaker 1: tubing scene. And I had to tell you, since I
- 3:54Speaker 1: have seen the movie it's so fun to watch, I
- 3:57Speaker 1: need to know what it was like filming that And
- 3:59Speaker 1: did you get to do a million takes? Because one
- 4:02Speaker 1: of the advantages of filming this movie in what looked
- 4:04Speaker 1: like actual winter instead of July is you get to
- 4:06Speaker 1: do some real snow stuff.
- 4:08Speaker 3: Exactly. We're so lucky to have real snow. That would
- 4:11Speaker 3: have been a nightmare if that was just produced by
- 4:14Speaker 3: the snow. We had so much fun. We were just
- 4:18Speaker 3: talking about it. Marcus and I just like going up
- 4:21Speaker 3: and down and up and down, and it was kind
- 4:22Speaker 3: of old school, well old school for me when I
- 4:24Speaker 3: used to film things in Canada where you had just
- 4:26Speaker 3: a very limited crew and just limited time. And so
- 4:31Speaker 3: we just did it over and over again, and I
- 4:33Speaker 3: think it kind of inspired both Marcus and I. There
- 4:36Speaker 3: were some kind of childhood nostalgia to tubing down the
- 4:40Speaker 3: hill that we tapped into, and we were having so
- 4:43Speaker 3: much fun. It was exhausting. But I'm glad to hear
- 4:47Speaker 3: that you loved it. I'm so excited to see it
- 4:48Speaker 3: because it was really it was fun to film.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Yeah, the fun translates. Are there any moments from the
- 4:54Speaker 1: movie that got cut? Well, I guess you don't know that.
- 4:57Speaker 2: But.
- 4:58Speaker 3: Maybe I have a moment that I Oh, good, I
- 5:00Speaker 3: want to hear it. I had so, mind you, I
- 5:04Speaker 3: was very hormonally. I was pregnant at the time we filmed,
- 5:08Speaker 3: so my hormones were raging. And I remember we didn't
- 5:11Speaker 3: have time to film this one scene where my character
- 5:14Speaker 3: sees Marcus and his family putting the Christmas tree together
- 5:18Speaker 3: with the snow shoes, and she decides that she doesn't
- 5:21Speaker 3: belong in this, in this reality, in this life. And
- 5:24Speaker 3: she makes that decision and she leaves and she's really
- 5:27Speaker 3: upset about it, and cut to the next scene where
- 5:29Speaker 3: she's like basically crying to him. And we didn't get
- 5:32Speaker 3: to film it. And I remember being so upset that
- 5:36Speaker 3: that was being cut, and I remember going to Marcus
- 5:39Speaker 3: and he's like, it's okay, It's it's.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Gonna be okay, and I'm like, Vanessa is very big
- 5:43Speaker 2: on the script. In the script, Vanessa expects to shoot it.
- 5:46Speaker 2: She's a pro Marcas, what are we doing? Sure?
- 5:50Speaker 1: So I don't like to change of plan either.
- 5:53Speaker 3: I'm not apparently I thought your whole character through and
- 5:56Speaker 3: you know exactly what you know, what arc you're you're
- 5:59Speaker 3: working on. It was. It was really really upsetting, and
- 6:01Speaker 3: I do think I have to apologize to the director
- 6:04Speaker 3: because I think my hormones were not helping my rage.
- 6:07Speaker 3: I think it's really well.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Cassidy comes off so full of fun life, so you
- 6:12Speaker 1: don't come off as overly horrible.
- 6:15Speaker 3: That part I just kept for Marcus. Yeah, just get
- 6:18Speaker 3: over so bad.
- 6:19Speaker 1: One last question to wrap up. We have a segment
- 6:21Speaker 1: on our podcast called did you See That? And I'm wondering,
- 6:23Speaker 1: is there a moment in the movie that you think
- 6:26Speaker 1: viewers might miss or that you want them to pay
- 6:28Speaker 1: particularly close attention to.
- 6:30Speaker 2: When that's up again, it's like we haven't seen it,
- 6:32Speaker 2: so it's a little tricky. The tubing is cute, but
- 6:36Speaker 2: you know what, Vanessa slipped down some stairs in that
- 6:39Speaker 2: one particular state and try the spot where that might
- 6:41Speaker 2: have been in she it was in the whole kerfuffle
- 6:44Speaker 2: because she was obviously early stages edmentton, so it was
- 6:48Speaker 2: very concerning to watch. And but Matt will not be
- 6:51Speaker 2: in the film, but there was a scene when it happened,
- 6:53Speaker 2: and somebody you can kind of figure when.
- 6:54Speaker 3: Figure out when that happened when you all down the stairs.
- 6:59Speaker 3: This interview, well, thank you so much for your time.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Have a great day with the rest of your interviews.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Thank you, Megan, would be pleasure to talk to you.
