Speaker 1: So I want to talk about something that all of us need to do and that's rest.
• 0:04
Speaker 1: Welcome back, it's Saturday, faith Fuel.
• 0:06
Speaker 1: I hope you're having an awesome Saturday and just let's lock in really quickly.
• 0:10
Speaker 1: This is Genesis 2 and I'm going to read from verses 1 and 2, and it says Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them, and on the seventh day God finished his work that he had done and he rested.
• 0:24
  Speaker 1: On seventh day.
• 0:24
Speaker 1: God finished his work that he had done and he rested on the seventh day from all his work that he had done.
• 0:28
Speaker 1: So God blessed the seventh day and made it holy because he rested from all that work.
• 0:32
Speaker 1: Now I'm not here to talk about which day is the seventh day, because I know that there are whole religions and denominations that have decided that either it's Saturday or it's Sunday or whatever.
• 0:44
  Speaker 1: It is right.
• 0:45
Speaker 1: I'm not here to talk about which day it is that you rest, but what's important that we agree on is that even God rested.
• 0:52
Speaker 1: And I'm all for being um successful.
• 0:57
Speaker 1: I'm all for us doing the things, being the boss.
• 1:00
Speaker 1: I'm all for us being um you know, going after the assignment.
• 1:03
Speaker 1: I'm all for us being you know, going after the assignment.
• 1:05
Speaker 1: I'm all for all of that, but I'm here to just kindly remind all of us, including myself, that even God rested, and so we need to make sure that we're taking that time to rest.
• 1:16
Speaker 1: And rest could be just as simply as like, for example, usually for me.
• 1:21
Speaker 1: I have a discipline where I wake up early on Saturday so I can record a study and then record Faith Fuel.
• 1:28
Speaker 1: But I was taking a rest this morning and so I wasn't rushing to do it.
• 1:33
Speaker 1: In that time, in that period of rest, I was being refreshed and renewed, and I plan to spend the rest of my day just resting.
• 1:43
Speaker 1: When you're resting, it doesn't necessarily mean that you don't do anything, right, because, hey, family still got to eat, I still got to do some chores, all the things.
• 1:53
Speaker 1: But even resting from some of the things that we've been carrying in our hearts and our minds, some of the burdens, if you will, of the week For those of y'all who are overthinkers like me sometimes I find myself overthinking that we start to kind of run the play and we don't let the week go because we're thinking that we need a rest in our minds, we need a rest from the thoughts.
• 2:17
Speaker 1: Some of us need a rest from the actions.
• 2:19
Speaker 1: Some of us need rest from social media.
• 2:21
Speaker 1: Some of us need rest from the news.
• 2:22
Speaker 1: Some of us need rest from social media.
• 2:23
Speaker 1: Some of us need rest from the news.
• 2:24
Speaker 1: Whatever it is, you need to rest.
• 2:28
Speaker 1: I really I hope this reaches you in a way that's encouraging to you.
• 2:33
Speaker 1: Again, it's something that I find that I need.
• 2:36
Speaker 1: We all need to rest and recharge and we're not meant to just keep going and burn out y'all okay, the things that all the things that you believe that the lord has given you, all the things you know that you think you're supposed to accomplish, all of those things.
• 2:51
Speaker 1: You know we can do these things, but we still need to take a break, we still need to rest.
• 2:56
Speaker 1: So I hope this is going to encourage you to just slow down just a little bit.
• 3:01
Speaker 1: Even this 30 minutes for yourself, um, today, you know, set some time apart for yourself, by yourself, and just rest and allow yourself to just, you know, to just be at peace, right?
• 3:14
Speaker 1: No overthinking, no overscheduling.
• 3:17
Speaker 1: You know, give yourself some time and just rest.
• 3:20
Speaker 1: So, lord, I'm asking for all of us, under the sound of my voice, who are seeking out a period of rest right now, from all of our worries and cares.
• 3:30
Speaker 1: I know, lord, god, that even as we dedicate the time of rest with you, even if it's 30 minutes, lord, that you'll meet us in that time and just restore our minds, bring peace into our minds, even regulating our thoughts.
• 3:43
Speaker 1: Oh, god, and just meeting us in that moment, thank you for reminding us that you know, as you are our Father, god, as you created the heavens and the earth, you rested from that work, and so I thank you for reminding us that we too need a moment to just rest.
• 3:59
Speaker 1: Thank you, lord, god, that all things are still working together for our good, and we bless your name and we thank you, lord, for everything.
• 4:06
  Speaker 1: Amen.
• 4:06
Speaker 1: Listen, I hope this is reaching you on an awesome Saturday.
• 4:11
Speaker 1: I'm about to go back to get my rest on.
• 4:14
Speaker 1: All right, love y'all.
• 4:15
Speaker 1: Jesus loves you more.
• 4:16
  Speaker 1: Take care Bye.
