Catherine the Great's Grandson Constantine and the Greek Dream
In this episode, Lucas and Luna explore Catherine the Great's audacious Greek Project — her plan to revive the Byzantine Empire under her grandson Constantine. They discuss the strategic naming of Constantine, the role of Grigory Potemkin, the capture of Crimea, the founding of Kherson and Sebastopol, the Treaty of Küçük Kaynarca, and the dream of a restored Constantinople. The conversation also touches on the limits of Russian power, Austrian and British reactions, and how the Greek Project shaped Russian foreign policy for decades.
