- 0:01Good evening. Yes, I greet you in the name of
- 0:05the resurrected, Jesus Christ. It's good to see you on a Friday
- 0:08evening. It's good to see that there are
- 0:12not some, but many Christians who aren't afraid of the cold.
- 0:15I hope that will continue. I saw a funny.
- 0:18Somebody sent me a funny thing where was a I guess it was a
- 0:21meme where one side. Somebody said I can do all
- 0:24things through Christ. Who strengthens me and the next
- 0:28section says you can't even go to church when it rains.
- 0:32I think there's some truth to that all joking aside meet me in
- 0:36the book of second. Samuel in chapter 10 and as I
- 0:40said during the announcements, we weren't here together last
- 0:44week. So feels like more than a week.
- 0:46It feels like a month and so there is there is Importance in
- 0:53reflecting on what we touched on in this chapter before we
- 0:55continue. So let me give you summary David
- 0:58King, David was on a quest of kindness.
- 1:01He showed it to a man. Mephibosheth and chapter 9 but
- 1:05didn't stop with Saul's. Descendants didn't stop.
- 1:08Just with his covenant made with Jonathan, he wanted it to go
- 1:11beyond the borders of Israel. And so, he reaches out to the
- 1:15ammonites and he reaches out to the king of the ammonites hanoun
- 1:19and his father passed away. And so David long to send,
- 1:22Ambassadors to console him from a genuine place but
- 1:27unfortunately High Noon had some advisors who poisoned his mind
- 1:31by assuming that David had ill motives and was attempting to
- 1:34spy instead of really show love. And unfortunately, the king
- 1:41believed that and he does something very humiliating.
- 1:44He takes David's ambassadors, he cuts off half their beards and
- 1:48he trims their clothing in a very embarrassing way.
- 1:51And then kicks, Them out and tries to send it back into
- 1:54Jerusalem. Blushing, David recognize, what
- 1:58was done. He tells him to wait in a
- 2:01specific location namely Jericho until they grow back their
- 2:05beards, and they come back to Jerusalem as though nothing had
- 2:07happened. And that's where we stopped.
- 2:10We learned a lot in those few verses, but where we are
- 2:12beginning tonight is in verse 6 and we will read the next few
- 2:16verses. I'm going to ask you what you
- 2:18see. I'm not going to read the
- 2:19remainder of the chapter. Just the first few verses and
- 2:21we're going to Explore what we see, what gems Sparkle on a
- 2:25surface level reading and then we will dive in in a deeper way
- 2:29and we will trust. God has much to say to us and so
- 2:33with that in mind, your bibles are open before you.
- 2:36I trust. Let's come now to verse 6 of
- 2:39second, Samuel chapter 10 and let's read.
- 2:43When the ammonites saw that, they had become a stench to
- 2:48David the ammonites sent and hired the syrians of Beth Rahab
- 2:53and the syrians of Zaba 20,000 foot soldiers, and the king of
- 2:59Makkah with a thousand men and the men of tub or taupe 12,000
- 3:05men. And when David heard of it, he
- 3:08sent joy and all the host of The Mighty Men and the ammonites
- 3:12Came out and Drew up in battle array at the entrance of the
- 3:15gate, and the syrians of Zaba and of Rahab.
- 3:19And the men of Tobin Monica, were by themselves in the Open
- 3:22Country. When George saw that the battle
- 3:25was set against them both in front.
- 3:27And in the rear, he chose some of the best men of Israel and a
- 3:31raid them against the syrians, the rest of his many put in
- 3:34charge of abishai. His brother.
- 3:37And he arrayed them against the ammonites and he said, if the
- 3:41syrians are too. Too strong for me, then you
- 3:44shall help me, but if the ammonites are stew strong for
- 3:48you than, I will come, and help you be of good courage.
- 3:52And let us be courageous for our people and for the cities of our
- 3:55God and may the Lord do what seems good to him.
- 4:02This is the word of the Lord. Is there anything that stands
- 4:05out to you in these? These verses?
- 4:12Remember Friday nights are training nights want to train.
- 4:16Our eyes to know how to read the scriptures especially the Old
- 4:19Testament? What stands out to you?
- 4:29You have something, okay. Yes.
- 4:47Okay, so here we have Job saying, may the Lord do what
- 4:50seems good to him and is he is he, is he missing something, is
- 4:55he not inquiring of the Lord perhaps?
- 4:57But that, that phrase we're going to touch on because I
- 4:59think it's something we should admire about joab.
- 5:02So we will visit that. Yes, great observation.
- 5:04Anything else? yes, Vivian
- 5:23So joab says to his brother. Listen, if I'm being
- 5:26overwhelmed, you got to come and help me.
- 5:27And if I see that you're being overtaken, I'm here to help you
- 5:31that's good. Oh, that's really good.
- 5:33There's so much in there for the believer.
- 5:36Let me say this. There's so much in there for
- 5:37believers. You got it, good.
- 5:40Anything else. Great.
- 5:42Great observation. Maybe a couple more and then
- 5:45we'll continue. The second time yes that's a
- 5:56good observation to. So he sends Joe about the first
- 5:59time but when the syrians come back again David himself faces
- 6:04his enemies. And I think that's going to be
- 6:07more important for next week or the week after I don't know.
- 6:10Next week, we have us. Yes, I think so.
- 6:12We do, we do. Yes.
- 6:14Next week when we explore chapter 11, we were going to see
- 6:17that. David doesn't go to war again.
- 6:22So this is not a good habit, that David is developing but
- 6:26we're going to save that for next week.
- 6:29Good observation. One or two more, maybe one more
- 6:33Definitely Maybe Two. Anything else?
- 6:40Yes. Very good observation.
- 7:07What he had just said was that there was a promptness on
- 7:11David's end on how to deal with the ammonites and the syrians
- 7:16very good. Yes.
- 7:18So there was a quickness there was a there was an immediacy of
- 7:21his action to dealing with a Potential Threat, one more and
- 7:25that will continue. Anything else?
- 7:28These were wonderful observations.
- 7:32Yes. Yeah, that's a that's a good
- 7:39question. So some change locations will
- 7:41look at it differently in terms of what we'll get to.
- 7:43I think at one point we'll do like a huge segment on
- 7:46translations because which transition do you have if you
- 7:49don't mind me asking 1984 out of it.
- 7:52Yes. So when it comes to the
- 7:55different kind of groupings, it can be a manuscript thing where
- 7:59different families of manuscript might say something else.
- 8:03But when it comes to the ESV, we have the syrians and some
- 8:05believe that they could be somehow connected that they're
- 8:08from that general area. But we're going to do a session
- 8:11one day about translations and why things say things
- 8:14differently. So I'm going to reserve a longer
- 8:15answer for that if you don't mind for a particular time,
- 8:18maybe a future Q&A that will do sooner than later.
- 8:20Okay. Okay, ready?
- 8:22Now we're coming to this text. We've already made great
- 8:25observations but let's look back at verse six together.
- 8:28We see that the news of David's displeasure about what the
- 8:31ammonites did to Israel's ambassadors came back to high
- 8:35noon and his fellow leaders. And now here's what's.
- 8:38What's impressive to me? At least that David here.
- 8:43Is not giving any indication of retaliation.
- 8:47Right. David is not now arming himself
- 8:50and getting his troops to go out and fight against the ammonites
- 8:54for what they did to his Representatives.
- 8:57If there's anything that I see here is that David is in fact
- 8:59restraining himself. And this will make more sense
- 9:06when you have your rear view mirrors up in the Old Testament
- 9:09and you think back to David's development throughout the
- 9:13years? This is the beauty of being in a
- 9:15series because you have something to work with in terms
- 9:18of character observation or development.
- 9:22Do you remember what David's response was like when he sent
- 9:26servants before? He was a king, but when he had
- 9:28his little band of men, he sends servant's out to a man named
- 9:31nabal. Or Nepal.
- 9:34And he took care of some of his property.
- 9:36He expected some kind of favor in return and the ball, he
- 9:39belittles him, he humiliates him, he insults him.
- 9:47And what is David? Do the moment he hears that his
- 9:49servants came back with with that response.
- 9:52I'm just going to read it to you.
- 9:53It's in first Samuel. 25:13 David says to his men.
- 9:58Every man. Strapped on his sword.
- 10:03And every man of them strapped on his sword, David also
- 10:07strapped on his sword in his next breath, the moment.
- 10:12His servants returned and says this is what this is what he
- 10:14said about you. He says, round up the boys, get
- 10:18your swords. We're going to punish this man.
- 10:22And now years go by and I see David as a king, and he is
- 10:26insulted. And yet, there isn't any
- 10:29reaction. There is a silence.
- 10:34There's a calmness. I argue there is an inner
- 10:37strength that David grew into which is a mark of spiritual
- 10:44progress. See because if you read
- 10:47carefully, it's that, when the ammonites saw that, they had
- 10:50become a stench to David, the ammonites wanted to go to war,
- 10:54they were the ones that grab their troops, and we're
- 10:56preparing for an attack, it would have made sense to me to
- 10:59say that when David smelled what they did, he was insulted and he
- 11:04round up his troops to come against the ammonites but we
- 11:07don't see that there is this wonderful picture here of a man
- 11:12who has developed in the area of offense.
- 11:17And it would be wrong, it would be unrealistic to say that.
- 11:22David was not hurt by what hanoun did to him through his
- 11:26ambassadors because we're told that it was a stench.
- 11:29It was an insult. And it would be unrealistic for
- 11:33me to say to even a believer that when someone says or does
- 11:38something to hurt you, that it's not going to hurt.
- 11:42To say that a mark of spiritual maturity is that you don't feel
- 11:46the sting when someone sins against you, it's not fair.
- 11:52But the genuine Mark of maturity is that in the face of such a
- 11:56thing, you respond in a manner that reflects the beauty of
- 12:01Jesus Christ. That's the difference.
- 12:04David's pain here, perhaps is even greater than what it was
- 12:09when he was trying to deal kindly with Nepal, but his
- 12:13response, his reaction is reflex is totally different.
- 12:20And you can see this throughout the scriptures.
- 12:23This stumbled to me the other the other week and it's been
- 12:26simmering in the back of my mind.
- 12:28And I want to show it to you because it fits perfectly with
- 12:30what I'm trying to say. I need you to turn to two places
- 12:35though if you want to see the beauty of this.
- 12:36So the first places in Acts 23, right?
- 12:40And you're going to go to verse 2.
- 12:42The second place is in John 18 and you're going to put your
- 12:45finger there in verse 22. So acts 23 and verse 2.
- 12:51We have the Apostle Paul standing before the high priest
- 12:54of his day Because there are accusations against him, his
- 13:00ministry, his message, and what he is doing to the Jewish
- 13:03people. And I want you to see what
- 13:05happens as he is being investigated by the high priests
- 13:10in the spiritual leaders of his time.
- 13:11So verse 2, he said something. He's now making his defense and
- 13:17before he can get out another word.
- 13:19It says here in verse 2 vax, 23 in the high priest ananias.
- 13:22Commanded? Those who stood by him to strike
- 13:26him on the mouth. With.
- 13:28Then Paul said to him, God is going to strike you.
- 13:34You whitewashed wall, are you sitting to judge me?
- 13:38According to the law and yet contrary to the law, you order
- 13:42me to be struck. Let me pause there to say how
- 13:46many of you would respond? Very.
- 13:48Similarly if you are brought before a judge and before you
- 13:53finish making your case, he has one of the security guards or
- 13:56the officers Slap you on the mouth.
- 14:01Not only is that insulting itself.
- 14:03It's actually illegal according to the law.
- 14:07No, such punishment should be made until someone was proven
- 14:10guilty. And yet they could not help
- 14:12themselves, but, but harm this man who's been harassing them.
- 14:16So to speak with his gospel. But look at verse for those who
- 14:21stood by said would you revile God's high priest and Paul after
- 14:27this apologizes because according to the law, we are
- 14:30commanded to not revile the leadership that God has
- 14:34established. So Paul apologize, let me say
- 14:37this way Paul was wrong and what he did, yes it was wrong and
- 14:41what they did but he was wrong in his response.
- 14:45Now, I want you to see our lord Jesus.
- 14:49In the very same, predicament and John 1822.
- 14:54He is before the high priest. He was asked a question, he
- 14:58answered, he answered in such a way where he really unmasked.
- 15:02The high priests has lack of logic and his hypocrisy in this
- 15:07whole ordeal and John 18. 22. It says, when he said these
- 15:12things, one of the officers standing by struck Jesus with
- 15:16his hand saying is that how you answer the high priest?
- 15:21Now look at verse 23, pause there.
- 15:23Do you remember Paul's response? God is going to strike you?
- 15:27God is coming for you, my friend.
- 15:31Now here's here's the Lord standing before hype, and
- 15:34somebody hits him in the mouth. And here's his response verse
- 15:3823. Jesus answered him.
- 15:41If what I said is wrong bear witness about the wrong.
- 15:45But what I said is right, why do you strike me?
- 15:50Do I need to even explain anything here?
- 15:54I just put those two scriptures beside each other.
- 15:58Do you see the Elegance of Jesus?
- 16:02Do you see? Do you see his strength?
- 16:05Do you see his self-control? Do you see the honor and the
- 16:11Integrity that the master carries the do you sense the
- 16:16fragrance? The Apostle Paul was a mighty
- 16:19man of God, a mighty man of God but a man still and in the same
- 16:25situation he could not help but erupt and here's the Lord.
- 16:30Still. Not shaken.
- 16:36Strong. Straight as an arrow.
- 16:41You know, when I was reflecting on those two scenes, you know
- 16:43what came to mind? Lord, I want to be like you.
- 16:46I really, really want to be like you I don't want to give in to
- 16:51the impulses of my emotions, Lord.
- 16:52I want to know what it's like to be.
- 16:57Such a reflection of the person and character of God, Can I ask
- 17:04you something? What's manlier, you men in this
- 17:06place? What's manlier?
- 17:08When you compare those two answers?
- 17:11Paul. God is going to strike you.
- 17:15Or Jesus. if what I did was wrong, But it was right.
- 17:21Do you see? We need a whole new definition
- 17:25of what manhood really is. A whole new definition of what
- 17:29it means to be like Jesus, read Beyond please, and our
- 17:33sanctification. We need to read Beyond just
- 17:36tenets of our faith. Justification means is thank
- 17:39you. That's great.
- 17:40That's important. I'm not trying to mock that what
- 17:42I'm saying is the holy spirit, includes these examples for us
- 17:46so that we can look at ourselves.
- 17:47And look, I read that I go, I'm more like Paul, I'm going to be
- 17:50honest, but I want to be like the Lord, I want to be like the
- 17:53Lord in every situation that would try to stir My Flesh that
- 17:58I would be like him. And so we come back to David and
- 18:04we see There is a growth here. Now I want you to go back to
- 18:09verse 6 of second Samuel, 10 now, look at it from the
- 18:11perspective of hanoun when the ammonites saw that they had
- 18:16become a stench to David. The ammonites sent and hired the
- 18:20syrians. Now here's the thing.
- 18:24When this man learned that what he did was an absolute
- 18:28embarrassment and insult an offense to David and realize
- 18:34that he did nothing in return. On top of that, what should he
- 18:38have done? What any, what kind of what
- 18:41sensible person would have done blank?
- 18:45Thank you. Forgive me.
- 18:50I listened to the wrong advice. I misjudged what you were doing.
- 18:55Can we build this bridge again, that would have made the most
- 18:58sense. I mean, I'm baffled by how this
- 19:01man did not see how the council he received was totally off
- 19:04base. David proved the purity of
- 19:08intention is not just in his initial visitation, but in the
- 19:11fact that he does not come after him with a Vengeance, shouldn't
- 19:14that be enough of an apologetic for you to be convinced that
- 19:17that you're wrong? And that he was right?
- 19:20And what he was saying initially, But what we see here
- 19:25is the opposite, this man actually foolishly hires
- 19:28mercenaries. And he declares war, we're going
- 19:31to war And I think when you just reflect on that, there's a
- 19:36couple of principles there in regards to sin that, I hope
- 19:41you'll never forget for the rest of your life.
- 19:43The first lesson is this, right? So he learned that his actions.
- 19:47It was a stench. And so what does he do?
- 19:49Well, he continues to sin and here's principle.
- 19:52Number one, sin. Unrepented sin will always lead
- 19:57to Greater sin. Okay, unrepentant sin will
- 20:02always lead to Greater sin and we're going to see that played
- 20:05out in David's, personal life in the next chapter because David
- 20:08is going to commit adultery. And he chose the path of
- 20:12concealment instead of confession.
- 20:15And what does it do? It only encourages him to do
- 20:18even worse things. Commits murder utilize.
- 20:21There's all these horrific things because unrepentant sin
- 20:26will always lead you down to a darker path where you will
- 20:29entertain sins that you never plan to initially.
- 20:33I'm doing here. He insults the man and what does
- 20:36he do? Now, he wants to go to war with
- 20:37the man and so he wants to commit even more iniquity, more
- 20:41Rebellion against David, and the outcome of entertaining sin is
- 20:46always the same, always that when you try to hold on to it
- 20:53and try to control it and try to conceal it and try to justify
- 20:56it. It's going to take you further.
- 21:01Whenever we do wrong whenever we stumble, whenever we do
- 21:04something, we know that is contrary to the word of God.
- 21:06Whenever we do something that stinks in the sight of God, that
- 21:09can use that language. There is only two paths to take
- 21:11every single time. The first one is to conceal it,
- 21:15which includes justifying it. So you hide it.
- 21:18You convinced yourself. You can do it.
- 21:21And then that will lead to more trouble.
- 21:23The second path on this Crossroads is confessing and
- 21:26forsaking it. Those are two paths.
- 21:28That's not my idea. That's a proverb if you want to
- 21:32life proverb. Here's a good one, Proverbs
- 21:3528:13, it's a very simple one, it's easy to memorize, whoever
- 21:39conceals his transgressions. Will not prosper.
- 21:46But the one or he who confesses and forsakes it, or them will
- 21:53obtain Mercy. Whoever conceals his
- 21:57transgressions will not Prosper but he who confesses and
- 22:02forsakes them will obtain Mercy. That's a wonderful truth to
- 22:08remember in the case of hanoun, he thought that he could prosper
- 22:11by continuing to harass David and he's going to learn that.
- 22:16That's not going to be the case he's going to do more evil and
- 22:19it's going to cost them much more than he intended to pay,
- 22:23which is the second point. The first one was sin,
- 22:25unrepentant. Sin will always lead to Greater
- 22:28sin. Here's Point number two, in
- 22:29regards to this. Unrepentant sin will always ask
- 22:35of you, something that you did not intend to pay.
- 22:39In other words, make it even more simple, unrepentant, sin
- 22:43will cost you more and more. And you can't determine what the
- 22:47price is. So here's what's amazing notice
- 22:51that when he wants to go to war with David, we have to read
- 22:53carefully. He hires the syrians, he hires
- 22:57them and it's only when you go to the Chronicles account of the
- 23:00same scene where you get the exact receipt, He had to pay a
- 23:06thousand talents of silver. One Talent is estimated to be
- 23:12around 75 pounds 75,000 pounds of silver to hire this Coalition
- 23:22of armies, to join him, and to fight against the anointed one.
- 23:28That's pricey. So, is the pursuit of sin.
- 23:32Always will come with a check and you will have to pay it at
- 23:37one point or another. And here's the thing, when it
- 23:39comes to the price of sin, as I said early you can determine
- 23:43what you have to pay. You can't It will always rob you
- 23:48of your blessings and God always, but sometimes they will
- 23:52tax you emotionally and sometimes it will demand
- 23:54something from you physically. And here's the worst thing.
- 23:58If you're outside of Christ, The Ultimate Prize is eternity.
- 24:01Eternity, when you want to make a willful decision of walking
- 24:06against the one, that God chose in the person of Jesus Christ,
- 24:11then you will actually have to pay a price.
- 24:13And the proverb said it very clear, whoever conceals whoever
- 24:17holds onto, whoever hides, whoever justifies his
- 24:21transgression will not prosper. It will cost you something.
- 24:29So never forget those points, never forget those two
- 24:32realities. So we come down to verse 7 what
- 24:34do we see? He hires these thousands of foot
- 24:38soldiers, these chariots, he goes to neighboring places.
- 24:41And in verse 7, we read when David heard of it, he sent joab
- 24:45and all the host of The Mighty Men.
- 24:48The moment he heard about, he says, we got to do something
- 24:50about it, so he has this intelligence agency he gets a
- 24:53report. Hey, the ammonites are coming
- 24:56into partnership with the syrians and and they're they're
- 24:59up to something David, There's Something Brewing here.
- 25:04And what David does here, as he does not wait, because he knows
- 25:07that if he waits the problem can get.
- 25:09So great, it will be too difficult to confront.
- 25:14Had David delayed. What would have happened?
- 25:16Was that there could have been more men hired or there could
- 25:20have been a very sophisticated strategy that would be
- 25:23implemented. That would make make this whole
- 25:25thing much more complex and it could have been if he had done
- 25:28it just earlier. The attitude of David here, in
- 25:31Warfare must be must be interpreted in view of our
- 25:37spiritual war. What David is doing here is
- 25:42absolutely inspiration to the believer who is in spiritual
- 25:45warfare day and night and it's wisdom and here's the wisdom.
- 25:49That David here does not delay because success and strategizing
- 25:55over Satan's tactics is doing what dealing and snuffing out
- 26:00Sparks before they become wildfires.
- 26:05Not waiting, not hesitating to come and resist evil.
- 26:11Before it becomes something much more difficult to overcome.
- 26:17And that can be anything, that can be everything from an
- 26:21inappropriate thought, that constantly visits you and you
- 26:24having to Snuff it out. You having to deal with it
- 26:28before it becomes persistent, and before becomes material.
- 26:32Everything from something as harmless as a thought, that can
- 26:36become harmful too. You approaching a brother Yuan,
- 26:43humility approaching a sister and communicating because
- 26:47there's unexplained tension. And you don't want to, you don't
- 26:52want to leave room for speculation or suggestions from
- 26:55Satan against your brother or sister.
- 27:01Again, of David waited too long, things will get much more
- 27:05complicated. and in the same way the effort becomes much more
- 27:10when we delay in our response to formation of Temptation and
- 27:15trouble. I've seen what they can do.
- 27:20I've seen in so many cases. I've seen what it can do in
- 27:22somebody's personal life, and I've seen it, especially what it
- 27:24can do relationally between between family members in Jesus.
- 27:30It it creates suspicion, it creates hurt and friendships and
- 27:35marriages and even local churches.
- 27:38And so you have such wise instructions, not just by way of
- 27:41example like this. But even in the very clear
- 27:45teachings of Jesus who, you know, this in Matthew 5:23 that
- 27:48if you have a gift and you're coming to the altar to give an
- 27:51offering to the Lord. But you remember, you remember
- 27:55that someone has something against you dropped a gift and
- 27:58go and pursue reconciliation. And here's the thing about that.
- 28:02What I take from that teaching is, Mending.
- 28:06Something that is potentially ripping.
- 28:08Apart is emergency protocol. Emergency protocol, it's not
- 28:13something to wait until tomorrow.
- 28:16It's something that must be dealt with.
- 28:18And listen this is what the Lord is saying.
- 28:20This is so crucial that it Trump's over even offering your
- 28:24sacrifice on the altar during a feast holiday.
- 28:29Consider that what the Lord is, saying, don't delay.
- 28:34And I've witnessed the great blessing on and so many
- 28:37examples, let me give you the positive element has.
- 28:40When somebody might approach me, call me.
- 28:41Whatever and say, well, you know so-and-so said this.
- 28:43So, and so did that or so. And so is acting in a certain
- 28:46way and it's hurting me. It's confusing me.
- 28:47You know what my answer is go and tell them.
- 28:51Don't wait till the smoke becomes fire.
- 28:54Don't let your mind. Be open for Satan to say certain
- 28:58things and suggest certain things and confuse you and begin
- 29:02to accuse that person through your thinking just clear the air
- 29:06as soon as you can I'm telling you.
- 29:08So many fires could have been put out and so many local
- 29:12churches that they just took what Jesus said, seriously,
- 29:16right? And David is doing that in terms
- 29:17of real war, he hears that something is happening.
- 29:21And he's not waiting before he deals with it, he's going to act
- 29:24upon it immediately and so he does.
- 29:27And what happens? we read here as we scroll down
- 29:31to verse 11 and he said, Joab goes out and he said to his
- 29:36brother abishai. The syrians are too strong for
- 29:38me. Then you shall help, you shall
- 29:41help me. But of the ammonites are too
- 29:42strong for you than I will come and help you.
- 29:46Here's what here's the see now between verse eight and nine job
- 29:50is sent with his men, the Mighty Men, and they realized the
- 29:53seriousness of the situation, the ammonites are before them
- 29:57the syrians are behind them. They're surrounded.
- 30:02They're surrounded, they're outnumbered.
- 30:04Perhaps and so this is a very dangerous predicament and so the
- 30:07strategy is very straightforward.
- 30:09What he says here is that I'm going to place myself to fight
- 30:13the syrians and we're going to place those who are weaker, the
- 30:18abishai and his men before the ammonites.
- 30:21And there's much to say about that, which I won't say, but
- 30:23it's very simple that according to one's qualifications, they
- 30:28will be placed in certain positions.
- 30:31But instead of touching on that, I want to draw your attention to
- 30:34what he says in verse 11. The too strong for me, come and
- 30:38help me if they're too strong for you, I'll come and help you.
- 30:44Okay, so let's stay in that theme of obtaining wisdom and
- 30:48successful spiritual warfare. Here's another one.
- 30:52I'll call for Mutual support in the fight of faith.
- 30:59A call for Mutual collaboration cooperation in the fight of
- 31:04faith and you and I know that that's why many of you are
- 31:06members of a local church. You Christian should be inspired
- 31:11to see how these these brothers literal brothers are locking
- 31:15their arms, with one another because of the revelation of how
- 31:19great of a danger, they are in there.
- 31:22Surrounded by, we need to come closer to each other.
- 31:27How much more us? Listen how much more us in a day
- 31:32when evil perversion confusion false teaching deception is
- 31:38closing in on the remnant of God.
- 31:42I-i'll be, I don't know how people can claim that they can
- 31:46weather the storm and it's only going to get more intense.
- 31:50Wild istening cells from the people of God, it just it's
- 31:54mind-boggling. Intentional Fellowship,
- 31:59intentional accountability, intentional relationships with
- 32:02one another and we can amend that we can say, Amen, because
- 32:05the principal you can't disagree with it.
- 32:07We all agree with amen. But the blessing, the reaping of
- 32:11reward is when we put it into practice and the particular ways
- 32:16that we see in the Bible, including what we see here and
- 32:18what do we see here? We see that.
- 32:21What job is setting as a rule is impossible.
- 32:25It doesn't work, unless both he and his brother abishai.
- 32:29You ready for this? Are aware of one another's
- 32:32conditions. How is abishai going to come and
- 32:37help job? If he doesn't know, that job
- 32:40needs help? How is job supposed to help his
- 32:43brother? If he doesn't know that his
- 32:44brother needs help? How is your brother supposed to
- 32:46help you? If he doesn't know that you need
- 32:48help? How is your sister supposed to
- 32:50know that your she supposed to help you unless how you can't?
- 32:55So, you know what this means, you ready for this?
- 32:57All, this is good, this means that those who want to show
- 33:02themselves strong before other believers.
- 33:06They can't, they can't fathom the thought of another believer.
- 33:11Finding out that perhaps you are struggling.
- 33:14Whether you need help that your where you are, you are going to
- 33:18war. If you want to know the
- 33:23blessings of the mutual support that God has designed for the
- 33:26army of God, you're going to have to humble yourself.
- 33:30Wouldn't it be so silly to see joab, smothered by soldiers and
- 33:35him refusing to call out for help from his brother abishai
- 33:38because he does want to be perceived as weak.
- 33:41He imagined that we would say how foolish what's wrong with
- 33:44you. I want you to see yourself in
- 33:48that same light, when you feel the Temptation in your tent, in
- 33:52your struggle, in your trials, and your tribulations, to remove
- 33:56yourself. Instead of throwing yourself at
- 33:57the hands of merciful Brothers and Sisters in Christ.
- 34:01It's just that silly. It's just that silly.
- 34:06And what often is the thing that holds people back from
- 34:09receiving, the bomb that God has deposited in those that he's
- 34:12providentially brought into your life is pride, it's spiritual
- 34:16Pride. So you won't ask for counsel,
- 34:19you won't ask for prayer, you won't come to the house of God
- 34:23to know the healing that comes from the gifts that God has put
- 34:26into that church. Because you want to be, you want
- 34:29to be a Mighty, Man, a mighty woman.
- 34:33You're just as much in trouble. As job would be if he was
- 34:36overcome by soldiers and refused to call out to his brother
- 34:40abishai. But also means something else
- 34:44and that is a willingness for you and I to what give ourselves
- 34:47to others to cooperate. And to contribute Galatians, you
- 34:53heard that Maranatha Galatians 6:2 that we are to Bear one
- 34:56another's burdens. This is the law of Christ.
- 34:59And you know what is unfortunate and I praise God.
- 35:01That it's not the case here, I hope it would never be That a
- 35:06lot of people view the local church as a charity in this way
- 35:11they can take. But God forbid, they would give
- 35:15God forbid, they would give and so they have no issue.
- 35:19Reserving, their resources, reserving, their presence
- 35:22reserving, their participation reserving their voice,
- 35:27reserving, their, whatever it is that your call to bring it to
- 35:30the church. They have no problem, but all
- 35:32they will get vocal if they don't get what they think they
- 35:35deserve and they have no issue, they have no issue.
- 35:40Arriving and coming when they need a good old.
- 35:43Pick me up, right? But when it comes to them,
- 35:49investing in others, It's not a reality.
- 35:56You know what job didn't say? If the syrians overcome me, come
- 36:00and help me. He didn't say that he added and
- 36:02if you need help, I'm here for you brother.
- 36:05You see, it's this, this Mutual responsibility and
- 36:08accountability. It's not this vacuum where you
- 36:12get to suck as much as you want this consumer mentality and then
- 36:15leave wiping your mouth. Now I pray that that would never
- 36:20be the case. We will see Miracles take place,
- 36:23we will see his strength and and we will see a wonderful
- 36:27longevity and our spiritual health when we lock arms.
- 36:31In the way that these brothers are and we saying we're going to
- 36:32do this together, we're gonna do this together, so you and I need
- 36:36to understand that. Okay?
- 36:38It's okay to be broken in the house of God.
- 36:46The days are difficult and I know that I'm going to stay
- 36:50here. I know that this ministry,
- 36:53preaches, a strong word. Because we need to, we need to
- 36:58preach repentance. We need to preach the fear of
- 37:01God. We need to preach the whole
- 37:03counsel of God. But I want you to know something
- 37:06as well. as much as we strive for Holiness, and we strive to
- 37:11be Godly, I hope that not one person in here, whatever
- 37:15interpret that we do not have Grace in our hearts.
- 37:21I pray that you would see that as we pursue this together.
- 37:25There is so much Mercy available.
- 37:29So much grace, so much forgiveness, so much
- 37:32understanding. So that if you do fall, you can
- 37:36get right back up and you have a leadership and you have a church
- 37:39that says get up brother. Get up Sister.
- 37:43Keep going. Keep going keep pursuing that
- 37:46prize. Keep pursuing that Mark.
- 37:49And so you have to understand joyed I'm a shy, they were
- 37:51warriors but they knew their weaknesses, they knew their
- 37:57weaknesses and they gladly confess when they were weak,
- 38:01they gladly opened up and they said to one another when they
- 38:03needed a helping hand, what's the point of all of this?
- 38:08If that's not the case. So be built up and be encouraged
- 38:11to know that in this place. There's so much encouragement
- 38:15reserved and ready to be shared and I pray, and I trust that
- 38:19many Book can attest to that. Now job doesn't end up.
- 38:22Let's go back to verse 12. He continues and a way that may
- 38:27be surprises us because Javas disappoint Us in the past but we
- 38:30can, we can applaud him tonight. Okay, we can give job some some
- 38:34Grace, because look what he says, be of good courage.
- 38:37She speaking to his brother be of good courage and let us be
- 38:39courageous for our people and for the cities of our God and
- 38:43may the Lord do. What seems good to him.
- 38:46Oh, we could take that and chop it up and break down every
- 38:48single portion of what job said, but I want us to focus on the
- 38:51latter part. And may the Lord do what seems
- 38:56good to him. Now go back to verse 9.
- 39:00Because I want you to see what job that before this, when jobs
- 39:02saw that the battle was set against them both in front and
- 39:05the rear, he chose some of the best men of Israel and a raid
- 39:08them against the syrians. Joab did everything that he
- 39:11could to prepare and plan for victory.
- 39:15He organized, he delegated, he directed, he encouraged, he did
- 39:21all these things that any commander would do.
- 39:23And yet he came to a point before running into that field
- 39:28by declaring an Mid trust and faith that the outcome belongs
- 39:33to God. Whatever God is going to do.
- 39:38He will do it. And that's an important truth
- 39:41because you and I believing in God's authority over all things
- 39:44and has power over all Affairs does not negate.
- 39:48Our intense participation in the process.
- 39:53Right, if the doctrine of the sovereignty of God makes you
- 39:57lazy, you're not learning it, right?
- 40:02If it makes you less zealous to be obedient to be Evangelistic
- 40:07to be prayerful, you're not interpreting that Doctrine,
- 40:10right? Joy had that so much and guess
- 40:15what? God considered it.
- 40:17He considered his wisdom, he considered his strategy, he
- 40:21considered all that he did and he would work with him in this
- 40:26and he relied on him and that should comfort every person in
- 40:31this place. Who has his our Lord.
- 40:34I want to be dead center in the will of God.
- 40:36Here's my encouragement to you ready.
- 40:39That as you do, everything that God's called you to do, just
- 40:41like what job did You can rest in the outcome because it
- 40:45belongs to the Lord. All right, so I'll use myself as
- 40:48an example. As use any password example, as
- 40:52long as they honor God's word, they preach, they have a holy
- 40:55life, they're serious. The repentant, they're walking
- 40:59in humility and they're doing all their duties, regardless of
- 41:02what happens in that ministry, that's not up to him, that's up
- 41:06to him, it's the Lord, right? Take that for anything that you
- 41:10do in life and your life, for the Lord job your presents, a
- 41:13wonderful wonderful lesson for all of us who really desire to
- 41:17obey him, but cannot determine In the fruit.
- 41:20You can't determine the fruit rest in that.
- 41:23So now we see. It's so much we can say, but I
- 41:25want to continue in verse 13 Job.
- 41:32And the people who are with Him Junior to battle against
- 41:34Assyrians and they fled before him.
- 41:36And when the an amide saw the syrians that the syrians.
- 41:39Fled, they likewise fled before abishai and entered the city,
- 41:43then job returned from fighting against the ammonites and came
- 41:46to Jerusalem. Here's what's fascinating.
- 41:49Remember we heard in the beginning that there was a
- 41:51principal but sin in relation to the ammonites and the syrians,
- 41:55check this out, what we learned was if you're going to pursue
- 41:58sin it's going to cost you more than you plan to pay.
- 42:01It's going to take you to Greater sin and here's another
- 42:03principle. Here's another principle.
- 42:08When joab, and his men arrived on the scene, the syrians, fled,
- 42:13the ammonites saw the syrians, they, they fled, and I can't
- 42:17help. But think this, if I was hand
- 42:18noon who paid seventy five thousand pounds of silver, for
- 42:21these guys to come in to help me, do what I desire to do,
- 42:25wouldn't you be disappointed? That's a letdown not one Arrow
- 42:30was shot. Not once sword was swung
- 42:32nothing. Now, once Shield was lifted up,
- 42:35they turned around and fled, that's pretty disappointing
- 42:38stuff. And let me tell you, it's the
- 42:40same for sin sin will disappoint you.
- 42:45Disobedience will disappoint. You pursuing what God says not
- 42:51to pursue will fail you and it's a truth that we know from the
- 42:57beginning that that glistening Apple.
- 43:01Well, it's not an apple, we don't know it's a fruit that
- 43:06fruit that promised so much. And it becoming bitter.
- 43:13And when we think about Temptation, when we think about
- 43:15all these different patterns and life that our culture suggests,
- 43:19it always asks, you throw away your, you throw away the
- 43:22strength of your you throw away your money, throw away your
- 43:24time, throw away the blessings of God, right?
- 43:27And so many people bite, and it bites back because when it comes
- 43:32to the moments, where you think that that thing, that promise so
- 43:35much happiness is security and strength was going to deliver it
- 43:40failed to execute the way you thought.
- 43:42That's exactly what we see here with a syrians and the
- 43:45ammonites, they expected so much and they were LED down and Paul
- 43:51use that as an example, when he's preaching on Holiness, in
- 43:54Romans 6, he says there in Romans 6.
- 43:56Hey, what fruit were you getting at the time of the things of
- 43:59which we are now ashamed? Like what benefit was there in
- 44:03your previous life? And I always tell this to people
- 44:06when you are tempted with a particular sin, may be a sin
- 44:09that you crucified when you came to Christ, don't think about It
- 44:12makes you feel think about how I let you down and let that live
- 44:16before you. And so when that Temptation
- 44:19comes up, you say I can see right past through this mask and
- 44:22I know what that is that it that's not an oasis.
- 44:24That's that's just a pile of sand.
- 44:28And so even we see here that though these men pursued greater
- 44:32wickedness, thinking that it was going to profit them and give
- 44:35them Victory. And in fact turn to slap them in
- 44:38the face. So it is with sin.
- 44:41Now we come. And what do we see here in verse
- 44:4215? Well, they fled the ammonites
- 44:46fled. So, job goes back to Jerusalem
- 44:48and when he goes back to Jerusalem, something interesting
- 44:50happens, and we haven't read this yet together, but when the
- 44:53Syrian saw that they had been defeated by Israel, they
- 44:56gathered themselves together and how do they user sent and
- 45:01brought out the syrians, who were beyond the Euphrates, they
- 45:03came to helium, which show back the commander of the army of had
- 45:06a desert at their head. And when it was told David, he
- 45:09gathered all Israel together, and cross the Jordan, and he
- 45:11came to heal, and the syrians are raised themselves.
- 45:14Has against David and fought with him.
- 45:20Let me pause here because I've been talking a lot.
- 45:24What do you take from that with the theme of sin with the theme
- 45:27of rebellion with the theme of wickedness with the theme of
- 45:29stubbornness? What do you see here?
- 45:31Well, job goes back and the syrians.
- 45:34They gather themselves again, I think you're foolish, this is
- 45:39stupid. You know what, I see from that
- 45:43before we're quick to criticize where we any different when we
- 45:46were in sin. Are we any different?
- 45:53Since Spooks us and makes us just look absolutely absurd.
- 45:58We've embarrassed ourselves. We feel filthy.
- 46:03We had a near-death experience, we severed so many
- 46:07relationships, and just like these men, the moment things.
- 46:11Calm down. We go right.
- 46:12Back to the vomit that we just threw up.
- 46:15And sometimes we go even harder than when we did it first.
- 46:19So we see the stubbornness, we see the stubbornness of the
- 46:23syrians. No different than the
- 46:25stubbornness of The Sinner. Who will just put their head
- 46:29down and continue to Ram it against the same wall?
- 46:33and when I look at this, I think to myself How can this be?
- 46:39How can you go back to the very thing that spooked you, that
- 46:44exposed your weakness and how small you were?
- 46:49Well, that's what happens when a heart does not have the rule of
- 46:52Christ in it. Sin makes people stupid.
- 46:58Can I use that language? Is that okay?
- 47:01It just makes people lose their judgment lose their ability to
- 47:05reason and we're going to see that in the next chapter we're
- 47:09going to talk about the sin of adultery Proverbs 6 tells us
- 47:13that he who does, it has no sense.
- 47:18Because they don't consider the consequences.
- 47:19They don't consider what can happen as a result.
- 47:23Of that. Law-breaking.
- 47:28And just like the sinner, doesn't matter.
- 47:29If you were warned, doesn't matter if you escape death, it
- 47:31doesn't matter if you've experienced serious loss,
- 47:34doesn't matter if you just doesn't matter what.
- 47:37Fearful fate might come before, you have people who was Spring
- 47:41right back into action, even after they realized that this
- 47:46can potentially destroy them, And what was the blow that they
- 47:52would suffer? Look at Verse 18 and the syrians
- 47:54fled before, Israel, David killed of the syrians the men,
- 47:57seven hundred chariots, forty thousand Horsemen and wounded
- 48:02shabak. The commander of the army so
- 48:05that he died there. The chapter does Anne Enright.
- 48:14It doesn't end because as crazy as these syrians are in this
- 48:19text, we can actually applaud them because they learned their
- 48:24lesson. They learned their lesson, Only
- 48:29After experiencing a severe blow.
- 48:34And there's two things that they did.
- 48:36That was right. as a result of this failure, the first thing,
- 48:43Is here in verse. 19. And when all the kings who were
- 48:49Servants of, how did, as our saw that they had been defeated by
- 48:52Israel, they made peace with Israel.
- 48:55Good job should have done it earlier, but better late than
- 48:58never, they made peace with Israel.
- 49:03You want to know the second thing?
- 49:07And became subject to them. Here it is.
- 49:09So the syrians were afraid to save the ammonites anymore.
- 49:16We will no longer associate with you ammonites anymore because
- 49:20every time we hang out with you you just lead us into greater
- 49:24trouble. We're done.
- 49:27Okay, I'm going to end here. oftentimes, What it takes for
- 49:35The Sinner to make peace with the son of David, who is Jesus
- 49:40Christ, and to cut themselves off from the influences of sin.
- 49:46Is to get burned. It's only after you get beaten
- 49:51up by your decisions in Rebellion.
- 49:56And not just light Taps because then got a light tap, the light
- 50:00tap was just as they were fearful and they ran off the
- 50:02site of job and those Mighty Men was terrifying enough and it
- 50:06caused him to run in the other direction but it wasn't until
- 50:09the syrians new serious loss. That they change their ways,
- 50:15this breaks my heart but it's true. unfortunately, for some A
- 50:22sermon won't mean anything until they're crushed by life.
- 50:29And I see this particularly with young people when I go and I
- 50:32speak at youth conferences. Most difficult audience to deal
- 50:35with because they haven't been through life long enough.
- 50:38That's that's what really it is. I think I've seen you have seen
- 50:41young people fall on their knees and cry and repent, genuinely
- 50:45and change their course, because of the grace of God.
- 50:47And I've seen other people, there's just the smugness and
- 50:51there's this a sense of I am Invincible, you're 18.
- 50:57Just live a little bit longer. Once you have to leave your
- 51:02house and you can't eat, mom's home-cooked meals and you don't
- 51:05have a nice bed warmed and ready for you.
- 51:07Once you go on to the real world, And you're no longer have
- 51:11to be forced to come into church, and you actually have to
- 51:13make decisions on your own and Satan is right there waiting to
- 51:17give his options to you. Just wait till then, just wait
- 51:20till then, and so, Sometimes what God will do?
- 51:27Instead of giving you a sermon is put you on a sick bed.
- 51:31It doesn't have to be that way, but he can do it that way.
- 51:36He can, he can and he has broken many bones and I'm not talking
- 51:41about, I'm not talking about psalmist language.
- 51:44Here of what it feels like to be convicted of sin.
- 51:46I'm talking about real broken bones.
- 51:51And if you think, I'm coming up with my own ideas here, I want
- 51:55you to, I want you to see what I'm saying, and the final verse
- 51:58versus of our study tonight, it's in the Book of Job.
- 52:02It's in chapter 33, And I want you to see what is said here.
- 52:08About the ways of God. Job is very tricky book to teach
- 52:20from because a lot of the things that job's friends say were
- 52:24right, but applied wrongly and some things are off.
- 52:29So you have to be, you have to be very careful of how you teach
- 52:31and preach from The Book of Job. And the best way to know what to
- 52:35use is to see how the rest of the scripture uses that same
- 52:39truth, right? But look at Job 33.
- 52:42Verse 9 that I think this is incredibly insightful and verse
- 52:4519. We read man is also rebuked with
- 52:50pain on his bed and with continual Strife in his bones.
- 52:57Who's doing the rebuking here? God is doing the rebuking here.
- 53:01So that his life loads bread, meaning your so battered that
- 53:08you have no appetite. And his appetite the choices
- 53:13food. His flesh is so wasted away that
- 53:19it cannot be seen. And his bones that were not seen
- 53:25stick out. Remember what I told you it's
- 53:29often it's not the light tops in life.
- 53:32That get our attention. It's the major interventions.
- 53:37Look at verse 22, his soul draws near the pit and his life to
- 53:43those who bring death. This is serious.
- 53:48And the spirit is attributing, this as a work of God that God
- 53:53can rebuke a man in such a way to get his attention to get his
- 53:59attention. Notice the words in verse 19
- 54:01carefully men is also rebuked meaning.
- 54:04This is just one of his ways of rebuking, And I think that this
- 54:08kind of rebuking is reserved for the ones who win their rebuked
- 54:11in this way. Right?
- 54:13Hey, hey, repent, be careful surrender.
- 54:17Time is short when they don't get that rebuke.
- 54:22That's fine. I can listen.
- 54:25And he allows Providence to have his way and he brings a man or a
- 54:28woman to the very brink of death itself.
- 54:33You read the remaining versus you can do that on your own
- 54:35time. There's a Redemptive element to
- 54:37this but look at verse 29, quickly.
- 54:41Why does God do this behold? God does all these things just
- 54:46in case you thought I was adding that.
- 54:49Twice. Three times with a man.
- 54:55So patient. And you about tells me how
- 54:57stubborn of us, I've had a handful of conversations, with
- 55:02people who reached out to me, to ask me.
- 55:05I need to sit with you, I need to tell you what happened to me,
- 55:08it's a fine. Come sit, they sit with me and
- 55:11they tell me of how they almost died near it, car accident near
- 55:14death, experience, something, whatever overdose.
- 55:17I don't know what it is so many different things and they look
- 55:19at me and you can see this concern on their face.
- 55:21How they've come so close to meeting their maker.
- 55:27Only for the gospel to be given to them for them, to be somewhat
- 55:30receptive, to it, to get back and to never be seen again.
- 55:36Behold. God does all these things twice
- 55:38three times with the same person.
- 55:43You know, there's some people who just like won't die even
- 55:46though they should be dead. I know a couple of those people
- 55:50say how are you alive? You fell off that roof.
- 55:54You got hit by this car and they're just, they don't know.
- 55:57And it's like, oh well what do you need to wake up, man?
- 56:00Right twice. Three times with a man for what
- 56:03purpose verse 32. Bring his soul from the pit,
- 56:07see, God is willing to crush you.
- 56:08Now, before you spend eternity away from him suffering, under
- 56:12his judgment under his Wrath, that's why it hurts me.
- 56:16Sometimes, when people really have the strong stance about
- 56:19suffering in the world. Well, how can God do this and
- 56:21how can God allow this? Well, listen, if you keep it in
- 56:24light of Eternity, you're not going to have that much
- 56:26objection. When you realize the suffering
- 56:29in this life, oftentimes is God's megaphone to get the
- 56:32attention of a generation. Then you're going to understand
- 56:34that suffering in light of Eternity is actually merciful,
- 56:38it's merciful. I know that's controversial but
- 56:41I believe this book not popular opinion and so we see here that
- 56:45he does it to bring his soul from pit from the pit that he
- 56:48may be lighted with the light of Life.
- 56:49Yes, he will make your days dark so that you could come to this
- 56:52light of life. Does he have two with some?
- 57:00Can God avoid using this? Absolutely.
- 57:04It's contingent upon the hardness of your heart though.
- 57:06Look back at verse 14 for God, speaks in one way and into
- 57:12though, men does not perceive it.
- 57:17What with the what this text is saying is God, has many ways of
- 57:21communicating to people. That's not to say that the word
- 57:25of God is not sufficient, is that God uses the truth of the
- 57:28word of God. To be made known to you through
- 57:31different Avenues, including sticking you on a sick bed.
- 57:38To help you realize that you are.
- 57:40But a man you are but dust and Ashes.
- 57:46I hope that everyone in here knows the Lord.
- 57:49I trust that. Especially for those that I
- 57:53know. but maybe somebody will watch this Bible study months
- 57:59from now weeks or not, maybe they're watching right now or
- 58:01maybe you're in this place and I don't know you and You don't
- 58:04know Jesus. God speaks in one way into
- 58:10though. Men does not perceive it.
- 58:13I don't want you to have to get beaten up by sin before you
- 58:20realize you need a savior Why don't you realize it now and
- 58:27perceive that in God's Providence?
- 58:30He's getting your attention tonight?
- 58:32Yeah. Yeah.
- 58:36That he really wants to save you.
- 58:39And make a treaty with you and be an alliance with you and
- 58:42adopt you and redeem, you and fill you with his spirit.
- 58:45So that not only, would you be safe from his wrath, but that
- 58:49like we heard earlier, you would be conformed to his son's image.
- 58:54So that even in moments where you know that you would act in a
- 58:59certain way, had it not been for Christ, he would receive so much
- 59:02glory in your life. And so, we conclude today with a
- 59:07very, very sobering. Reality of not just the syrians,
- 59:11but if Sinners oftentimes, The Sinner needs to be awakened.
- 59:17To realize I need to make peace with my God.
- 59:22And I need to do this ready for this.
- 59:24Some of you, your fellowship will not be distasteful and
- 59:30Until you realize the heartache of what it's like to be with
- 59:35somebody who's not in Christ relationally and in friendships,
- 59:41Right. They told the ammonites were
- 59:45done here. We're done here.
- 59:47Why don't you just trust God's wisdom beforehand?
- 59:51Why don't you just trust God's wisdom before hand before you
- 59:54see what somebody who is not yoked to Christ?
- 59:56Can do to you who was and who is yoke to Christ?
- 1:00:00Avoid it, avoid it now. With all that being said, let's
- 1:00:06pray. Lord, we ask you that the truths
- 1:00:35that we heard in this this study.
- 1:00:39Would be chained around our hearts.
- 1:00:48And we ask Lord that. All these principles.
- 1:00:58Would play out in real life situations.
- 1:01:03We are forgetful. We we are creatures that need to
- 1:01:09hear the same truth over and over again.
- 1:01:13But we just pray fully with genuine hearts.
- 1:01:15Lord, we ask that your Holy Spirit would keep us from losing
- 1:01:19sight of what we saw in your word.
- 1:01:24And Lord, for the person who doesn't really know you.
- 1:01:28And they're not even concerned about knowing you because
- 1:01:30they're very comfortable in life.
- 1:01:34Although we just pray that you would have mercy on them to get
- 1:01:37their attention in any way possible, if it will open them
- 1:01:41up to giving their souls to you. And Lord for us as a church and
- 1:01:47for the different Ministries represented here.
- 1:01:50May we implement the wisdom of David and actual Warfare and our
- 1:01:53spiritual warfare to be quick to see temptation.
- 1:01:59And to deal with it to be quick to see potential trouble in our
- 1:02:03relationships. And to deal with it, to confront
- 1:02:08it to communicate it. Lord, we need you and so many
- 1:02:11things we need you. And Lord, When sin temps us, and
- 1:02:16it may even tempt us. The very moment, we say, Amen,
- 1:02:19to this prayer, sin is right there to whisper in our hearts.
- 1:02:24may we never forget that unrepentant, sin will always
- 1:02:28lead us into greater more Unthinkable sin and unrepentant,
- 1:02:32sin will always bring with it a price that we don't want to pay
- 1:02:37but we will have to pay So Lord as we go into this dark evil
- 1:02:44lying world, may your truth be louder than every other voice
- 1:02:49and finally met this brief study cause us to see the value of one
- 1:02:55another and to say I'm here for you, would you be here for me?
- 1:03:01And when I'm weak, would you not judge me and hurt me?
- 1:03:04But would you list me up? And when you're weak, I will be
- 1:03:07there to pray for you to speak to you too.
- 1:03:10Help you in any way that you need.
- 1:03:12Lord, may that be the culture of Maranatha, Bible Church.
- 1:03:16And every other church, that is visiting here.
- 1:03:19We give you glory and we sing to you because your word is
- 1:03:23incredible and you are awesome and so receive our praise on
- 1:03:28this Friday evening in Jesus name.
- 1:03:31Amen, let's stand church, let's Worship the Lord.
