- 0:14Welcome our number two of the Morning Show with Preston Scott. I'm Preston.
- 0:19That's Grant Allen Show, forty nine seventy seven. Thanks so much for waking
- 0:24up and joining us this morning on the radio program. Here're the lyrics in
- 0:31part sucker punch somebody on a sidewalk, carjack an old lady at a red
- 0:36light, pull a gun on the owner of a liquor store. Yeah,
- 0:40I think that's cool. We'll act like a fool if you like, huss
- 0:43out of cop spitting his face, stomp on the flag, light it up.
- 0:46Yeah, you think you're tough, We'll try that in a small town.
- 0:49And from there it goes. It's been attacked and told it's a racist
- 0:59violence, and you sing song, and I've offered a little bit of my
- 1:03perspective. I'd love to hear from Emery McClendon. He's been with us before
- 1:07from Project twenty one. Emery, welcome back to the show. How are
- 1:11you, good morning. I'm doing fine. I'm doing fine, happy to
- 1:14be here. The first time you saw the song, heard the song,
- 1:18read the lyrics, perhaps, what were your thoughts? I cheered because it
- 1:23caught my attention right away. And I listened very carefully to the words,
- 1:27and I also watched the video well, and then I watched the second time
- 1:32to see the video on how it would match the words, and I thought
- 1:34to myself, I said, not, here is a song that's actually displaying
- 1:38and trying to convince people that this is not the way you should act.
- 1:42You should you know, the words were telling you, along with the video,
- 1:48that you need to straighten up your act, that you need to act
- 1:53in accordance with the standards of our cities, and especially our small cities.
- 1:57That's where there's more tightness, there's more cohesiveness, and there's where people respect
- 2:04their community, that respect their officials like the police officers, to court systems
- 2:07and so forth, and their neighbors. And I thought that by illustrating what
- 2:13happens outside of those small cities and then using a small city as an example,
- 2:17what he was trying to do was to enrich the integrity of those who
- 2:24were doing these things and acts of violence. The initial video contains six seconds
- 2:31of footage from Fox five Atlanta showing the violent riots in the wake of the
- 2:38George Floyd incident by BLM protesters, and as a result, it has been
- 2:45called out as a modern day lynching song and so forth, as someone who
- 2:51happens to be black. Don't these kinds of claims really diminish and denigrate true
- 2:59acts of races them to take place. That's absolutely correct. And like I
- 3:04said, they keep crying wolf, Wolf, Wolf, And the only reason
- 3:07why they do that is when when like such at that video, when it
- 3:09got played and everybody began to notice the images and then the words of the
- 3:15song. These people who do these type of acts of violence in the Black
- 3:20Lives Matters and Antifa and so forth, they look at this as, oh
- 3:23boy, they're revealing us. We got to turn this thing around and get
- 3:25people to see it as the opposite of what's actually being displayed. Those were
- 3:30actual news footage video showing what happened in twenty twenty in and and and how
- 3:38they went out and tore up things in the streets, looted, rioted.
- 3:43There was the cop killings and so forth, And he pointed that stuff out,
- 3:47and it makes when they turn around then and try to flip the script
- 3:53and say that this is a racist thing, all they're doing is making a
- 3:55fool out of themselves because end the videos, which is actual again news footing
- 4:00footage. It shows just how they react to situations and overreact to situations,
- 4:05calling it protesting, but actually it's not protesting, it's acts of violence and
- 4:11committing crimes. Follow us on Twitter at WFLA FM. I am fair,
- 4:15I am good, I'm a happy example Glenn Is on nine to noon I
- 4:20Am Stronger every Day on WFLA Morning show with Preston Scott, Jason Aldeen went
- 4:31to Twitter. He said, in reference to the calls that this was a
- 4:35modern day lynching song. These references are not only merit lists, they're dangerous.
- 4:43There's not a single lyric in the song that references race or points to
- 4:46it. There isn't a single video clip that isn't real news footage. And
- 4:50while I can try and respect others to have their own interpretation of a song
- 4:54with music, this goes too far. Joining me Amory McClendon from Project twenty
- 4:59one, Emory, let's go back to the title of the song. In
- 5:01the overall message, he really does have an interesting point he's making. Try
- 5:08that in a small town. There is a big difference in America in what
- 5:13is happening in a lot of major cities versus small towns, and I would
- 5:17point out that it's largely because the area is rife with crime and violence and
- 5:24destruction, and weak DA's are almost entirely run and governed by Democrats. Boy,
- 5:31you beat me to the punch. That's exactly what I was going to
- 5:33bring up next. Because these larger cities have become tolerant, they have also
- 5:40become complacent, and they've also become sort of like enablers of those who want
- 5:45to go out and do acts of violence. You go in and you crash
- 5:47and burn a jury store, and the police show up, and to kill
- 5:50the police to stand down. Everybody runs out with all the jury showcase of
- 5:55all the jury showcases and all the paraphernalia that goes with the jewey and they
- 6:00walk scot free. That won't happen in a small town. First of all,
- 6:03there's a couple of reasons. Number one, the kids in those small
- 6:06towns have better values and morals being taught to them by their parents. I
- 6:11mean, yeah, there's things that go on in these small towns, but
- 6:13there may mostly petty crimes, you know, and things like that. You
- 6:15know, they may go around and drive across the lawn of a courthouse and
- 6:19tear it up with a four wheel drive. But they're not going to go
- 6:21out and crash and burn a jewelry store. And they're not going to be
- 6:25shooting at tops, you know, from the top of buildings or from behind
- 6:28trees. So yeah, it says a lot about the values in these democratic
- 6:31cities, and especially such as Chicago, Atlanta, out in Portland, Oregon
- 6:36and other cities like that. What's the point though, of the complaining,
- 6:42what's the point of the woke ideology? The point is that they can.
- 6:46They want to deflect all of the blame back to the conservatives and to people
- 6:53who I have good values. They want our values to look like they're upside
- 6:57down and their values look like they're like they're correct. And then and mostly
- 7:00they want to cover up the bad actions that they commit and stop people from
- 7:05complaining about it or rebelling against it and using by using their race, creed,
- 7:12color or whatever. That's the point I think, Emory, give me
- 7:15your thoughts on this. I have long believed I'm a big fan of rap
- 7:19music when it's done well and when it's done lyrically without profanities and some of
- 7:26the nonsense that's in some of the lyrics. But there's a big part of
- 7:30the rap culture and the music format that is full of profanities, degradating images,
- 7:39and violent u memes and portrayals. Why isn't that called out? It's
- 7:46not called out because the media and the entertainment industry, Hollywood and so forth,
- 7:51and you know where the records are produced back this kind of stuff,
- 7:57and they want to see this this kind of activity. And not only that,
- 8:00but you have a I hate to use the term, but I guess
- 8:03I will a thuggish type of groups of people who get into the rap type
- 8:09music and so forth for that result and a degrading of women, degrading of
- 8:13things that happened in the society, degrading our police officers and America itself.
- 8:20So they do things in those videos and say things in those videos that are
- 8:22very demeaning because that's the way that they feel. They do it all based
- 8:28upon not knowing true what true Americanism really means and what it means to actually
- 8:33be a true civic citizen. Tell me this in closing, and we're in
- 8:37Thanks so much for your time. We talked before the top of the hour
- 8:39about Fox News threatening a lawsuit against the producers of the video because of six
- 8:45seconds of video footage from Fox Atlanta on the BLM riots. There couldn't couldn't
- 8:50Fox have just said it's news, have at it. Why do you think
- 8:54they chose to slam on this. I think they did so because it reveals
- 9:00so much of the violence and so forth, and it points out a specific
- 9:03group. And I also think there's some pressure. I mean, I can't
- 9:07prove it, but I think there's some pressure being exerted by BLM and some
- 9:11of the other groups. And I think that you know, they're being shut
- 9:13down, they're being discredited, and they don't want that to happen, so
- 9:16they're probably putting the pressure on Fox. Fox doesn't want to be known as
- 9:20a discriminatory news outlet, so they're going to push back. And the easiest
- 9:26person to push back on is Jason Aldeen CMT and those in the entertainment industry
- 9:33on the conservative side. Emory, I always enjoy catching up with you.
- 9:37Thanks for your insights and your thoughts on this. I appreciate it. I
- 9:41appreciate being on Thank you God Lets thank you sir. Emory McClendon with us.
