- 1:34Still can't get the IG worked out.
- 1:36I'll have to fix it over the weekend.
- 1:39Oops. Still got the specs on because I
- 1:41was like trying to read what I'm doing here Thursday night.
- 1:45What's up everybody? It's Kefi at ghostcoltman.com

- 2:04spending it here with me and I appreciate you.
- 2:07We are going to bring you all the rock and metal news
- 2:10momentarily. Just kind of bites that I can't
- 2:14quite hear myself too well. But I think you're all hearing
- 2:18me. Give me a what's up If you're
- 2:19hearing me OK in the comments as always, this is your show.
- 2:23Also, I usually answer comments and things for free.
- 2:26But also also, you know, a little tip goes a long way.
- 2:31We'll happily, happily answer your questions about anything in
- 2:37the realm of rock and metal and see if I've got the homies cute
- 2:43in here or maybe they can help me out.
- 2:45If anybody out there is listening, Mike or anybody, let
- 2:49me know if you hear me, OK? Oh, you got some commenters and
- 2:55it looks like Dillinger Compound has arrived.
- 2:57Dillinger, can you hear me? OK?
- 2:59I am having some technical problems, but anyway, I'm kefi

- 3:05doing the thing I love to do, which is Rocket Metal News and
- 3:10other stuff. Let's bring in the deck that
- 3:14actually worked this time. And yeah, thanks for being here.
- 3:18It is 716 on Thursday night on the West Coast.
- 3:24The West Coast is under siege like the old Sepultura song.
- 3:28And thanks, man, I appreciate that.
- 3:31I'm using the backup mic. My my Yeti Blue is defunct.
- 3:35But first I'm going to refresh and wet my whistle with a liquid
- 3:38death, and then I'm going to get on with the show.
- 3:43I wonder if I can move this guy. Oh, that's actually kind of a
- 3:49cool thing. How do we like this layout?
- 3:54Kind of like Matt better. Yeah, that's better.
- 4:01Adjust myself with my Selena Slayer shirt.
- 4:06Keeping it very California cool here.
- 4:07Thanks, Dylan. Sure.
- 4:08Thanks for being here. You're a real 1.
- 4:11As always, we do like to get tips, so here's our live stream
- 4:17menu once again and again, tips are just optional.
- 4:22If you're a real 1, you know, you could become a real one if
- 4:25you're not one. And Jello Biafra was right.
- 4:28He was right about everything. This is our live stream menu.
- 4:35You know, we'll just let's see custom layout three.
- 4:38There we go. I put myself in the upper right
- 4:40hand corner now let's see how that works.
- 4:42It's a little bit better. So yeah, feel free to drop us a
- 4:47tip. I am going to work this weekend
- 4:50on figuring out I what do you what do you think about I Star
- 4:55Forever 1/9/1979 this year. We've talked to you before.
- 4:58Thanks for being here. Mike says I'm also good.
- 5:02Thanks Mike. You good too, bro?
- 5:06I'm thinking about doing subscriptions for the channel
- 5:08and I don't know on YouTube. I don't know how they would go
- 5:14but you know I I'd like to start doing like you know, even just a
- 5:23handful or a couple of dozen subscriptions a month.
- 5:26Maybe I'll do a extra live stream a week if you subscribe
- 5:30monthly, maybe like talk about anything you want private time
- 5:33with Kifi. Maybe people would like
- 5:35appreciate that. I'd I'd like to think so.
- 5:38So thanks if you're here. And yeah, that's our live stream
- 5:42menu. Little rocky start, but I'm
- 5:45going to recover quickly. So that's our live stream menu.
- 5:48There's our cash app if you want to just drop us a cash app, but
- 5:51we also take Kofi. We also have to take PayPal.
- 5:53We also take all the things. Check out our link tree Saint
- 5:58Louis Butter is here. Fernwood Folk is here at
- 6:02Fernwood in Pennsylvania. Clayton Bixby, Thomas Scott,
- 6:07head toe turbo, the trick, all the all Roman tree of hell.
- 6:12I used to have a song called Tree of Life that I wrote back
- 6:14in the 90s. But anyway, thanks for being
- 6:17here. If you're here on anything and
- 6:19you subscribe to us, we will subscribe back as long as you
- 6:22got an interesting profile. Moving on, it is Pride month.
- 6:28I gave a big tirade last week about why we have to have a
- 6:31Pride month, why there has to be a Juneteenth, why there has to
- 6:33be a Black History Month, why there needs to because this is
- 6:38the world we live in. Dillinger compound here.
- 6:41I'll kill the ticker for ghostcoltman.com, where you
- 6:44should be checking our website out every day.
- 6:47But Dillinger says he's got tickets for King Parent and
- 6:51Squid Pisser. Dude, Squid Pisser is so fucking
- 6:53good. And King Parrot.
- 6:56We have an interview coming up soon with Yungi, probably next
- 6:58week, so stay tuned for that. But yes, we're going to
- 7:04highlight a member of the community every week.
- 7:07And although she is retiring and perhaps launching a new
- 7:10political podcast, Otep is featured this week.
- 7:16I had a long history with Otep. I know people are divided about
- 7:20her. What's not debatable is her
- 7:23immense amount of talent and ability to rhyme.
- 7:25And really one of the leaders of the second wave of new metal and
- 7:30and also adjacent to death metal at times and punk rock and all
- 7:35these different things, theatrical art rock that she was
- 7:37able to bring together. What's up Dustin?
- 7:40What's up, Super mom, what's up? Scratch your brain, let's get
- 7:45some likes and hearts going there on the TikTok and feel
- 7:48free to follow us if you love rock and metal news.
- 7:50We are. You're not sucky metal sucks.
- 7:52We are. You're not shitty blabbermouth.
- 7:54That's how we frame ourselves and we have done so for 13 years
- 7:58without corporate sponsorship and just very little advertising
- 8:01and money. So feel free to drop us a super
- 8:04like or a super thanks or something.
- 8:05But shout out to Otep. I'm sad she's retiring, but you
- 8:08know if you had to go up against ass wipes every single day on
- 8:11the Internet then you also would want to quit your job.
- 8:15Fully understandable. I saw Hotep a couple years ago
- 8:18live. Glad I went was phenomenal.
- 8:21Her last record was killer. A lot of covers and a couple of
- 8:24fresh originals. The covers were unbelievable.
- 8:27Slipknot and oh ha ha you can hear the smoke detector.
- 8:31I'm so sad because my mic is not working great.
- 8:35You can hear that my smoke detector is chirping.
- 8:37Motherfucker. It's actually like the other
- 8:40smoke detector. That's not my smoke detector.
- 8:42It's hard to explain. Hold on a second.
- 8:46Forgive my bum. You had ALC right there.
- 8:50Let's just back this camera, back it up.
- 8:52Back it up, back it up. All right.
- 8:53So anyway, there we go. That's better.
- 8:59So, yeah, Otep is retiring, and I'm sad about it, but she's
- 9:05going to do some other creative awesome stuff in the world.
- 9:08And that I'm Pub 4. And thank you Otep for
- 9:11everything more next week on pride month and and pride
- 9:17deserving people who deserve recognition.
- 9:19Thanks for hey, tales from the riff is here.
- 9:22We've we've talked to you before.
- 9:24All right, moving on just a terrible week in the in the
- 9:30world for deaths. Sly Stone died Monday, very
- 9:35tragic case, but an incredibly monumentally talented guy from
- 9:39right here in the Bay Area, from Vallejo, not too far from where
- 9:42I live and where I used to live when I first moved to California
- 9:46four years ago. Almost in three weeks and just
- 9:51unbelievable. If you want to, you know, listen
- 9:53to great music and, and really be amazed, go check out the
- 9:58early Sly Stone stuff. Stole the show at Woodstock
- 10:01almost from everybody. Just a terrible loss.
- 10:07I was. I think a lot of people even
- 10:09expected that he had already passed some time ago, which is
- 10:15really sad. Also, you know, just the other
- 10:19day, Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys died.
- 10:21He had just performed last weekend.
- 10:25He'd been on tour and died also at 82.
- 10:29The family asked for privacy. We don't know what it was.
- 10:32And maybe he was dealing with some health issues and just kind
- 10:34of slipped away or passed him to sleep.
- 10:37It's hard to know sometimes how these things happen.
- 10:40But Brian, a true king, a real king of music.
- 10:45Beach Boys. I highly recommend if you're not
- 10:48familiar with The Beach Boys. Maybe it's not your music if you
- 10:51like modern current metal and rock, but just the ability that
- 10:56this guy had to write songs to sing to, to arrange music.
- 11:02I highly recommend the Hulu documentary on The Beach Boys
- 11:05that's out there right now from a couple of months back, from
- 11:07the beginning of the year, they actually had like a rivalry with
- 11:10The Beatles. Unbelievable stuff.
- 11:13So please check that out also also, I mean, this one is just a
- 11:19just a, just a heartbreaker man. Nitzer ebbs.
- 11:24Douglas John McCarthy died yesterday.
- 11:30He had been suffering from cirrhosis of the liver from
- 11:33alcoholism. He had been off the road for a
- 11:35couple of years, not singing anymore with the band and just
- 11:38very sad. One of the pinnacle bands of
- 11:40industrial metal and you know, just really a phenomenal talent
- 11:46and very sad. Also also, people of a certain
- 11:49age will remember Ananda Lewis from MTV in the 90s, especially
- 11:53her run on TRL. She is part of both Woodstock
- 11:57documentaries, 2 of the three Woodstock documentaries.
- 12:00They interviewed her 'cause she was there and just a real
- 12:03wonderful, amazing person she was, could report news.
- 12:07She was empathetic and sensitive.
- 12:09She was hanging out with bands. She was very well poised.
- 12:12She never seemed like, you know, out of her own element and died
- 12:17of breast cancer. I will say it's not my business
- 12:19because everybody's medical thing is personal.
- 12:23And she said that it was a personal choice that she made.
- 12:28She went against the advice of her doctors for her medical care
- 12:32and did mostly holistic health methods to try to beat the
- 12:37cancer, like juicing and stuff like that.
- 12:40And she already maybe if she had started out with stage 1 cancer,
- 12:45she could have did that. But when they discovered her
- 12:48breast cancer, which is what it was, is that it was already
- 12:51stage 3 and eventually to stage 4.
- 12:53And this was during originally the pandemic.
- 12:55So I am very sad that she passed.
- 12:59Women, go get your mammograms and get your check UPS.
- 13:02Men of my age and younger get your check UPS.
- 13:04Don't don't be a douche and be like, I don't.
- 13:08And then you get very sick and you know this country is not
- 13:10going to take care of you if you get sick, especially Americans.
- 13:13But I'm sure I'm talking to everybody all over the world.
- 13:18Also on a plus that side, we're still trying to get signatures
- 13:20to get our favorite San Francisco metal loving pooch
- 13:23Django sainthood from the Sisters of Perpetual indulgence.
- 13:28Feel free to sign the petition to Change.org in the link in our
- 13:32description cause fun things are fun.
- 13:34Here's Django with Nicker Butcher.
- 13:35They were on their way to kill Uranimus.
- 13:38I suggest that they kill Varg instead.
- 13:40I I would suggest that everyone try to kill Varg anyway features
- 13:44this week it goes cult and thanks for everybody again
- 13:46that's watching. I really appreciate you.
- 13:50Diane Chick is here. Ghost Pipe is here.
- 13:55Patrick Bork is here. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 14:02So I did a live stream overnight last night after I swore last
- 14:08week, Dillinger, I wasn't going to do any more of these late
- 14:10night things, but I did. I don't know.
- 14:12Again, these deaths have been weighing on me, and I take death
- 14:15very hard. I've had a lot of personal loss
- 14:17in my life, including the staff of Ghost Cult has lost some of
- 14:20its rock soldiers out there in the world.
- 14:22So I did a live stream. You can check it out now on
- 14:25YouTube or as a podcast. What are the worst deaths in
- 14:28rock and metal? With a few others for good
- 14:30measure. And you know, mine personally is
- 14:34Dybag and Lemmy Dio and Jeff Hanneman, Cornell, Reince Daley,
- 14:39things like that. But you know, we're about to
- 14:41lose a whole generation of artists.
- 14:43And I am not ready. I am so not ready.
- 14:47I'm not ready. Are you ready?
- 14:48I'm not ready. I'm not ready to live without
- 14:50Ozzy. I'm not ready for our heroes to
- 14:52leave us. So tell me what if you check
- 14:55this out, drop a comment and tell me what you think your
- 14:57worst celebrity death was. Gabe is here.
- 15:00What's up man? I owe you a message.
- 15:01I'm sorry I've been very busy and just going crazy this week,
- 15:05but I much appreciate you, pal. We'll catch up next week.
- 15:10Last week, as we did, this was International Slayer Day.
- 15:14So say it with me. 123 Slayer. Doesn't that feel good?
- 15:19I feel good now. I feel so much better.
- 15:22Slayer forever man. So 666 next year will be 6626
- 15:29Slayer. Didn't announce or do anything
- 15:31for Slayer day, but just in general was a good day to listen
- 15:33to Slayer and do stuff Mike says.
- 15:38Jim Morrison, Jeff Hanneman, Elvis.
- 15:40No thanks. Biggie and Big Pun.
- 15:42Interesting. I don't hear a lot of people
- 15:43talk about Big Pun. Willy Wonka.
- 15:47Dinga Doo is here. Miller fan is here.
- 15:52Yeah, man, let's see. Oh, Bourdain.
- 15:54Yeah, Bourdain for sure, bro. Bennington and Cornell murder
- 15:58conspiracy. Nope, not going to do it.
- 16:01Just a bunch of BS, but I hear you.
- 16:03Like, deaths are hard enough, you know what I'm saying?
- 16:07We'll have some interesting news, interesting conspiracy
- 16:09related stuff next week about some stuff, but I don't want to
- 16:13go public with it yet until I have a little more evidence in
- 16:15journalistic evidence gathering. But yeah, no, there's no
- 16:20Pizzagate, there's no fucking child porn ring, child abuse
- 16:25ring. No, just no, no, no.
- 16:32I want to make sure I don't mispronounce this band.
- 16:34We did 1 premiere this week and this was a Piliquit and Les
- 16:39Exocrenes. I hope I said that correctly
- 16:42because My French Is Fucking Rotten released a live single
- 16:46and New Split is out right now. Pili Coit is a French
- 16:50avant-garde band along with the French punk band Yowie and we
- 16:53premiered their live performance video that's out now on Skin
- 16:57Graft Records, home of Squid Pisser and a bunch of other
- 17:00banging bands. So you might be interested in
- 17:03this noise rock avant-garde thing, Dillinger Compound.
- 17:06Check them out and some interviews this week here at
- 17:10Ghost Cult. Last Friday, we ran our new
- 17:13interview with Cliff Rogano of Dry Kill Logic.
- 17:15Speaking of bans reunited, Dry Kill Logic has kind of returned
- 17:19to active service the last few years.
- 17:21They're playing Welcome to Rockville and things like that.
- 17:24And Cliff works in the music industry.
- 17:26And our old partner here, Omar Cordy, sat down with Cliff and
- 17:32talked all about new Dry Kill Logic singles and maybe what the
- 17:34future of that looks like. Pumpkin Jack is here.
- 17:38What up, what up, what up? Also also over the weekend we
- 17:42ran an interview that we were kind of holding on to for a
- 17:45minute from the New York hardcore and boogie rock band
- 17:48back from Zero. Fun interview there with Austin
- 17:52of that band. Check that interview out on the
- 17:54channel. Really fun thing for that band.
- 17:59They have a video that's inspired by the movie The
- 18:00Warriors that takes place in Coney Island and on the the
- 18:04train down there. It's real fun.
- 18:06I interviewed Gus from sacrifice.
- 18:08Anybody that's seen me wear my sacrifice metal thrash metal
- 18:12shirt, Canadian thrash metal at its finest and you know, just
- 18:21amazing. Anarchy face says greetings and
- 18:24salutations for Miss M's friend. Saw you and thought you'd just
- 18:30pop in before another French stream.
- 18:31Thanks for being here. I appreciate you.
- 18:33If you give us a a follow, we'll follow back.
- 18:35We'll sub back. So yeah, I interviewed Gus from
- 18:39Sacrifice. Pretty killer.
- 18:42Also. Also my interview with Gottard
- 18:45ran last week, the Swedish heavy rock band.
- 18:48Really fun interview and chat about them.
- 18:49They have a new album out right now on Rainy Phoenix Music.
- 18:54Also also from the beginning of the year, Living Gate or the end
- 18:57of last year? Living Gate is a super group of
- 19:00death metal players from different bands.
- 19:03Aman Raw and Veggie Dude from Belgium and Yah from America.
- 19:09These guys came together in their spare time and made
- 19:12several death metal releases and a new one that came out earlier
- 19:16in the year. So I think that's pretty cool.
- 19:18And I interviewed Levy from that band and also also come check
- 19:23out my interview with Ava maybe on our podcast.
- 19:27Ava maybe is the daughter of Chad Smith and a former American
- 19:30Idol runner up. And she has a new solo EP out
- 19:34her debut release after about 11 singles.
- 19:37And then she put out AEP with about half of those singles.
- 19:40And she's so killer. I interviewed her at Bottle
- 19:43Rock. My review of Bottle Rock should
- 19:45run tomorrow finally and got that out of the way and very
- 19:50excited to share my interview with Ava with you and a very
- 19:53special Instagram video Ava shot with me that I'm going to share
- 19:57that I think is a lot of fun, kind of like a Nelly Furtado I
- 20:02compared her to. Once again, we have a podcast.
- 20:05This show will be a podcast where if you listen to podcasts,
- 20:09the already the video from last night is up as a podcast, even
- 20:12though I did that video at like 1:00 and 2:32 and 1:00 and 1:30
- 20:16and 2:00 in the morning. Thanks for being here.
- 20:19Val Cleary is here. Shaney Dore is here.
- 20:23El Gonzalez is here. Ron Busby.
- 20:26What up? What up?
- 20:28Thanks Ron. Appreciate you following us.
- 20:33What else? What else?
- 20:34What else? Let's get through this.
- 20:37Also, because I don't have enough to do, I am the Co host
- 20:41of the glacially musical porn cast beer, metal swearing.
- 20:44Sometimes not metal, sometimes rock, sometimes hip hop.
- 20:47We are starting a brand new series on the BEAST i.e.
- 20:52Boys, Beastie Boys, one of my favorite groups of all time and
- 20:56kind of a group that has a rock rock fans and metal fans
- 21:00crossover. And we are going back, back,
- 21:02back in the day to the original punk rock Beastie Boys, to their
- 21:06first rap single, to their kind of breakout singles.
- 21:10And then we're going to move on to the albums.
- 21:13You all know this is actually the Glacier the Musical Podcast
- 21:17logo along with the Cookie Plus album artwork single Anarchy
- 21:22Faye says. My best friend Bean referred to
- 21:25me and said you had a great taste in music, so you followed
- 21:27Always up for supporting other streamers and music, especially
- 21:30folks who promote and discuss good music.
- 21:32Thanks Anarchy Faye, I appreciate you.
- 21:34Tell me what your favorite bands are.
- 21:36Maybe they're bands I have interviewed or we've discussed
- 21:38in the past, even though we're well known for rock and metal,
- 21:42and I'm clearly a bearded metal fellow here with my Iron Maiden
- 21:45flag behind me. I love all kinds of music.
- 21:48I was trained in classical music and opera.
- 21:50My parents raised me to be a jazz nerd.
- 21:52I have a minor in musicology where I studied jazz a lot in
- 21:55college. Let me know what you like.
- 21:57I'm and I love a lot of pop music, as I talked about last
- 22:00night on the live stream about Prince and Amy Winehouse and
- 22:03Biggie and Tupac and anybody else.
- 22:06And now it's time for the news rundown.
- 22:09You wouldn't believe this, but back 30 years ago, Oh my God, 30
- 22:14years ago, I was in College in New York City.
- 22:18And I used to be like, and now the news on Wall Street today,
- 22:21blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. And the show after my show was
- 22:25the hip hop show, the nighttime hip hop show, which had like all
- 22:29them before they were famous and as they were becoming famous
- 22:32rappers would come in 939495 when I was in City College in
- 22:37New York. Fun times.
- 22:39There's a whole YouTube video about that.
- 22:41Maybe I'll link it after the video shows.
- 22:45So we always start this section of the show with metal festivals
- 22:49and it's metal festival season. And even though it's technically
- 22:53not a tour and it is a sort of festival ish thing, Warped Tour
- 23:00is back this weekend. Warped Tour is back.
- 23:03Who is excited? I'm interested to see how well
- 23:06they do. It's already sold out.
- 23:09They've added a bunch of bands including some metal bands like
- 23:11War, and I'm very excited to see how it goes and what the reports
- 23:16are and what the videos look like and how people take it.
- 23:20They will. They launched an app.
- 23:22There's a comic book crossover with Z2.
- 23:26It's going to be live streamed on Amazon Music.
- 23:29I might watch some of it. Also there's the road to warp
- 23:33tour mini shows. Memphis May Fire St.
- 23:38Osan armor for sleep. Our friends the suicide puppets
- 23:41escape the fate. Miss May I recent interviewee of
- 23:44ghosts called So cool so cool. I'm happy warp tours back.
- 23:48Still on the fence if I really want to go to Long Beach or not.
- 23:52In the city they call it Long Beach.
- 23:53But we shall see. We shall see, we shall see.
- 23:58Also this weekend download fest, the granddaddy of them all the
- 24:02you know, one of the greatest. Oh, here we go.
- 24:05Well, Depeche Mode, Arazier, Smiths cure, KMFDM you also.
- 24:09I also love ghosts, Slipknot, but also Jack and St. kids.
- 24:12Very diverse, big Depeche Mode eraser fan.
- 24:17I like The Smiths. I don't love Morrissey sure is
- 24:20awesome. KMFDM is great.
- 24:22We've interviewed some adjacent fans and now we had the news.
- 24:27Top of the show right before you joined Anarchy.
- 24:30Unless you caught that that we were talking about.
- 24:34We were talking about the loss of Douglas John McCarthy of
- 24:38Mitzrad. Very sad that he died finally.
- 24:42Yep, love the music, love the man.
- 24:44That's Morrissey. I wish I could go see him in
- 24:45concert. Apparently when he played Riot
- 24:48Fest a while back they threw hot dogs at him, which I think is
- 24:51fucking rad. Just absolutely red.
- 24:56Love the love the music, love the man That's it.
- 25:00Download this weekend here. I'll blow these up.
- 25:02You don't need to see my face for some of these just so I can
- 25:05read off some of these posters. Green Day Sleep Token in their
- 25:08very first festival headline slide exclusive to the UK.
- 25:11They're going to play new music. People are going to lose their
- 25:14shit. Korn, Weezer, Bullet for My
- 25:16Valentine, Jimmy World, Don Bracco, Spirit Box, Sex Pistols
- 25:21with Frank Carter with Indentation, Darkness, Steel
- 25:24Panther, Apocalyptica, Cradle Of Filth, Seek Airborne, who have
- 25:31interviewed before, Great Band, Alien Ant Farm, Belief and we
- 25:34then interviewed them before Boston Manor, CKY, Ginger,
- 25:38Mallory, Knox, Poppy, Star Set, Turbonegro, Whitechapel, Alcest
- 25:44and so many more. It is in the UK.
- 25:47That is correct. I'll shout out where these
- 25:49festivals are. Warp tours here in DC this
- 25:52weekend for the first Warp tour back.
- 25:55Weezer's husband's favorite band.
- 25:56Oh that's awesome. He actually played Warp tour in
- 25:592010. That's awesome.
- 26:00What band was he in? Let us know maybe.
- 26:03I know that band. I covered a bunch of Warp tours
- 26:06back in the day and it's kind of funny now to go to like Danny
- 26:08Wilmer festivals and meet some of those artists and then like I
- 26:11remember you did. You always had that beer and I
- 26:13was like, I did not Incarceration Fest is coming up
- 26:18in July at the Oh, batten down your heart.
- 26:22Yep, I've heard of them. Incarceration Fest is coming up
- 26:27soon. Knocked loose, unfortunately
- 26:29Falling In Reverse. Not a fan here.
- 26:31Parkway Drive. I Prevail.
- 26:32Kill Switch Enemy Affliction Drain, Slipknot, Anson Acid
- 26:37Bath. Dillinger Escape Plan for our
- 26:39friend Dillinger. Compound Day Seeker August
- 26:42Burns, Red Kubla Khan, Punchy, punchy in the mosh pit.
- 26:45Three days, grace times two, Death punch, Lamb of God in This
- 26:49Moment, Architects, Bill Murray, We Came as Romans and Kitty and
- 26:55a bunch more. Pretty fucking bad ass.
- 26:56I'm into it. Snot is on there with Doc Coyle
- 26:59filling in. Very cool, very cool.
- 27:02Warp Tour was great. Warp Tour gave journalists and
- 27:06young bands a chance to, you know, come up.
- 27:09All anyone can talk about this week is Sharon Osbourne.
- 27:12No, no surprise Sharon, who is wonderful at stirring up the
- 27:16shit. She's a great marketer and
- 27:19promoter of herself and Ozzy. Oh dear.
- 27:22And Gray, I'm dying to see them again.
- 27:24I haven't seen that band in probably 10 years.
- 27:26I love them so much. We did an interview with them
- 27:29once too. So Sharon Osbourne said this
- 27:32week, without naming names yet, that she had to kick one band
- 27:36off the show for the Back to the Beginning show, which is in
- 27:38three weeks. We already know it's streaming
- 27:41all over the world. There was kind of a complication
- 27:44where Tool's name was taken off of the live stream.
- 27:47So just to clarify, just to clarify, Tool is participating
- 27:56in this, but they do not let themselves be live streamed or
- 27:59videoed, as you know. And what I predict is going to
- 28:02happen is Tool will play a couple of songs and maybe an
- 28:05Aussie or Sabbath cover their way, their own unique way.
- 28:10And then Maynard will sing a song with Black Sabbath or with
- 28:13the Aussie solo band, as he did at Aussie's induction into the
- 28:16Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. And then that part of the show,
- 28:24when Maynard sings with other other people, he will that will
- 28:27be broadcast to everyone but Tool's actual performance.
- 28:31If they perform themselves of Tool music, they will not
- 28:35participate in being live streamed.
- 28:37They will not release a live album or allow live videos to
- 28:41come out about them until the band is done toward Bonnaroo.
- 28:48That was the last show ever by the way.
- 28:51Bonnaroo's last show ever for was the Beastie Boys.
- 28:54Bonnaroo, Beastie Boys last show ever as a band before Adam died
- 28:59was Adam Yok was Bonnaroo 2011. I think really sad.
- 29:04But anyway we we will find out soon who Sharon is mad at.
- 29:08I'm going to guess it's G&R. Just a hunch.
- 29:12It'll be Axel, that's who's manager.
- 29:15She was mad, but I don't think it's another band that would
- 29:18have been so demanding. I really just don't see it.
- 29:21Unhinged festivals coming up in July in Denver, Co Not Loose
- 29:26Lamb of God, Dillinger Escape plan in this moment, The Garden
- 29:32Health who we love and have interviewed before Converge or
- 29:35have interview. Terror, tsunami gate Creeper,
- 29:37power trip, body count. Lisa Gabog, Jesus Peace, tennis,
- 29:42Angel dust. Catch your breath, Castle rat.
- 29:44That's some castle rat news coming up soon.
- 29:46Yeah, man, Sharon, she's just just like her dad.
- 29:50I hate to say it. She's exactly like her dad.
- 29:52She's a bully and a gangster. And I mean, I love that she made
- 29:55Ozzy a billionaire because he grew up in extreme poverty and
- 29:59Black Sabbath never got paid for their work.
- 30:01But you know what, man? I want.
- 30:04I'm glad Ozzy is rich and very well off, but Sharon is
- 30:08detestable. Moving along, just a reminder
- 30:11coming up this summer, Bloodstock Open Air is almost
- 30:14sold out. Single day tickets for Saturday
- 30:17and Sunday are sold out. Headline by Machine Head and
- 30:19Gojira. Friday night with Trivium,
- 30:21Emperor and Lacuna Coil is not yet fully sold out.
- 30:25Hoping that Trivium and Emperor team up and do some of that
- 30:28stuff together. They did both Matt Heaphy on
- 30:32Emperor's Stuff and also Matt's solo black progressive black
- 30:37metal band. Ibaraki includes Nissan, so that
- 30:42would be fucking sick. Ah, I see, I see, I see.
- 30:48Also again, the last Never Maryland Tune Fest is next
- 30:51weekend, headlined by the Skull. Please go out and support that
- 30:56if you are in the Baltimore or Philadelphia area.
- 30:58No worries, no worries. Ah, all right, Punk in the Park
- 31:02LA got announced this week and Bad Religion, Descendants,
- 31:07Pennywise Interrupters, we should be covering Punk in the
- 31:11park Denver, I believe, but pretty great Punk in the park
- 31:14here. I did not go to the one in San
- 31:16Francisco. Timmy Tea Bags this year.
- 31:18Brewers is here. Tales from the Riff is back.
- 31:22Daniel is here, looks pretty great though and similar to
- 31:28Denver, it's the big big one. So like some of these pumpkin,
- 31:31the parks are lesser, like a lesser line up of bands with
- 31:33more locals and this is more of the bigger, bigger bands.
- 31:36So I think that's cool. Also, Brutal Assault is coming
- 31:42up later this summer in a fortress in Czech Republic.
- 31:46Always the great Brutal Assault. Usually 140 to 160 bands
- 31:52Wednesday through Saturday. Oh my God.
- 31:56Like you might die after four days of this.
- 31:58And I think there's a pre party on Tuesday so you just have to
- 32:01spend a whole week in a fortress.
- 32:02C metal bands from, I don't know, early midday till 1-2 in
- 32:10the morning. Crap.
- 32:12I don't know if I can do it but it seems awesome.
- 32:15Rock Fest is coming up this summer.
- 32:17This is a series of festivals and shows over a bunch of
- 32:21weekends, but there's always a rock and metal weekend or a
- 32:24couple of weekends. Rob Zombie, 5 finger Death
- 32:27Punch, Bad Omens, back on tour, Bad Omens, Good Band, seen them
- 32:31before they Tear it up live, and a bunch of other killer bands.
- 32:35So if you're in the Midwest, especially Wisconsin presented
- 32:40by Bud Light, that sounds like Wisconsin.
- 32:42Wisconsin is much better beer than Bud Light.
- 32:46Thanks FUBU for this. Corona Capital Festival is
- 32:52taking place. This looks pretty damn cool in
- 32:57November. Foo Fighters.
- 32:59This will be their second announced show since firing Josh
- 33:03Freeze and since Dave Rolls. Personal problems.
- 33:06Chapel run and Linkin Park, very diverse.
- 33:09Also on this lake. Deftones.
- 33:11Weezer Vampire Weekend a Luna garbage.
- 33:18So kind of a cool anything is possible type of band line up
- 33:23pop metal, Hard Rock dance. Jerry Cantrell's in there.
- 33:28I see Peach pit in there. TV on the radio, Mogwai OMD
- 33:34Jenny Beth. That's a for Reznor's protege.
- 33:37That's pretty cool. Cherry Obituary.
- 33:45Liquid death. Why are you getting rid of
- 33:46these? Furnace fest coming up in
- 33:49October. Maybe the last furnace fest,
- 33:52maybe, probably not. The last furnace fest last year
- 33:54was supposed to be the last one. Jimmy World Dropkick Murphy's
- 33:57knock loose. Motherfucker.
- 34:00This looks killer. That's in the foundries in
- 34:04Birmingham, AL, not Birmingham, England, and that was all the
- 34:10festivals and there's so many in Europe, so many European
- 34:13festivals taking place this month in June and July and
- 34:18August. It's just crazy.
- 34:19I kind of kind of jealous. Never had enough time and money
- 34:24at the same time. Speaking of concerts and tours,
- 34:27as you know, Metallica tickets are on sale now for 2026.
- 34:30They are continuing to run out the string on their touring.
- 34:35The Metallica No repeats weekends continues.
- 34:38Last weekend they played in Tampa.
- 34:40Very cool job of them shouting out death on Sunday by playing a
- 34:44little bit of pull the plug. Kirk and Rob, really much
- 34:47respect and you know Metallica all the time.
- 34:52Tune into Metallica's YouTube channel for more live videos
- 34:56from the past as well as this current tour.
- 34:59And of course, we'll talk more about Load, the remastered box
- 35:03set coming out this weekend in the New Music Friday section of
- 35:08the show. And that's the world tour for
- 35:122026. Hopefully more dates will get
- 35:14added. There are no American dates yet.
- 35:16I suspect they will play some festivals here.
- 35:18Aftershock, I'm looking at you. Seether and Daughtry have
- 35:22announced a tour along with POD and rising singer Kenny Kehoe.
- 35:31Kind of interesting that POD will open for bands that used to
- 35:34open for them, but much respect to them.
- 35:37Got a really cool interview with Sonny a few years ago and we did
- 35:40another one with him last year at Louder Than Life.
- 35:42Opeth, who is on tour right now in Europe, will be back in
- 35:46Europe this fall on a European headline tour with a special
- 35:50guest to be announced. They are definitely playing
- 35:54Australia and New Zealand as well on the last Will and
- 35:58Testament tour. So very cool for Opeth.
- 36:01One of my favorite bands ever. Kings of Thrash.
- 36:06That's the band featuring former members of Megadeth, David
- 36:10Ellefson, Jeff Young and others, Chaz Leon and Fred Aking or
- 36:16Action Guys, an incredible drummer from LA.
- 36:18They are going to be celebrating the 30th anniversary of
- 36:20Euthanasia and other classics on a short Florida tour I'm sure.
- 36:25More dates will be announced soon.
- 36:29Something stupid is here. What's up, Dom?
- 36:31I would rather have one Metallica show with all the
- 36:33songs instead of yeah, I got you, man.
- 36:36I think they did it when? So I live here in San Francisco.
- 36:39And so when the touring came back, Metallica was one of the
- 36:42first bands to do like live stream, socially distanced live
- 36:47stream at a drive in or a winery or some shit.
- 36:50And they did. For the 40th anniversary, they
- 36:54had this idea. This is the end of 2021 for the
- 36:5740 years of Metallica concerts to do Friday and Sunday with a
- 37:01Saturday in between when they can do events and different
- 37:03things. And I think it works.
- 37:05The band literally can only like they can just do 2 hours, a
- 37:09little over two hours each night.
- 37:12Lars has changed his whole lifestyle to just be able to
- 37:14barely play these songs. He has been some of the best
- 37:18things about Metallica the last bunch of times I saw saw them.
- 37:21I do like the two shows they are now incorporating 1 offs and
- 37:26festivals where they just play one set list.
- 37:29So I don't know if you, you know, I could go all the rest of
- 37:32my life and never hear Anders Sandman ever again.
- 37:34But maybe you want to hear Anders Sandman.
- 37:36You know what I'm saying? Brody Lowry is here.
- 37:39What's up? Brody Maiden fan is here.
- 37:44We're just doing some Rocket Metal news.
- 37:45We're talking about concerts and tourists.
- 37:49This is pretty bad. Crown Magneter, which is a
- 37:52killer band, is doing a brief run of headline shows in the
- 37:56Midwest and heading West. Wichita, Evansville, Toledo at
- 38:00Toledo Dev Fest, Louisville, Milwaukee, Davenport, IA, and
- 38:05Denver at the marquee that is sponsored by Sound Talent Group.
- 38:09Great, great group of people there.
- 38:11What a sick poster this is, by the way.
- 38:13I would kind of like an autographed poster to this.
- 38:15This is just unbelievably crazy. Skunk and Antsy has a new.
- 38:18Album out. It's kind of a pop indie rock
- 38:21record. Oh sorry, a crown Magneteer,
- 38:23Death metal if you are in the Indiana area.
- 38:27So Skunk and Antsy is on tour right now in Europe.
- 38:31They're playing a bunch of festivals and then they have
- 38:33festival activity all through the summer.
- 38:35Oh man, so good. One of the most underrated and
- 38:38great singers of all time. Skin.
- 38:40I really like to interview her. They weren't doing too much
- 38:42press, I was under the impression, but I'm hopeful that
- 38:46eventually I will get to also also Black Flag.
- 38:50So Black Flag is on tour right now in Europe and Oh my God, I
- 38:54watch video of this new lineup Greg Ginn has put out for Black
- 38:58Flag and it's like basically a bunch of kids and 60 something
- 39:01year old Greg. And listen man, like we saw
- 39:04Black Flag last summer, Omar and I at the no Values Fest in
- 39:08Pomona. It's kind of very interesting.
- 39:09I think because of Black Flag and because no Values Fest would
- 39:13have happened this weekend and didn't happen.
- 39:15It's not happening and there was no announcement.
- 39:17People are finding our review of the show now, which is kind of
- 39:20fun, like 203 hundred hits on it this week.
- 39:23We're randomly of a year old festival review.
- 39:25Cool, thanks. Appreciate it.
- 39:27And I thought that line up of Black Flag with Greg and Mike
- 39:30Valeli on vocals because Mike sounds just like Rollins and I
- 39:34respect Greg. Greg is allowed to have his band
- 39:37and have Black Flag and he picked the Chick singer and
- 39:40she's really good but they're not good as Black Flag.
- 39:44I hope that makes sense. They do not have Keith Morris.
- 39:47Keith Morris is in Circle Jerks and he has been in Off, which is
- 39:51kind of retiring and he still plays with Flag.
- 39:54So Keith is not back in, you know he is not back in.
- 40:03Absolutely not back. I lost my I lost myself here.
- 40:08Sorry. Sorry.
- 40:08TikTok here. I'm back.
- 40:11No, Keith Morris has long been out of Black Flag, and I don't
- 40:13think he would ever reunite with Greg.
- 40:15That would be awesome. I think there was a period of
- 40:16time where they thought about it.
- 40:18It's just like Dead Kennedys are not playing with jello.
- 40:21And a lot of venues are, you know, like, oh.
- 40:28A lot of venues. Are like, oh, I love, I love
- 40:31Henry, but you know, he's been retired for such a long time and
- 40:35I don't think he's ever coming back to music because he feels
- 40:37like he did it already and he doesn't want to go out there and
- 40:39renew the hits. That's boring him.
- 40:41I was hoping that he would put back out Rollins Rollins Band at
- 40:44some point. I love them so much.
- 40:46You're also biased. Oh, I mean, Henry is the
- 40:48greatest and I love Dez as well, but yeah, this Black Flag is I
- 40:54watched like I tried to watch like 3-4 songs and it was just
- 40:57not I I think the kids are cool. It'll be it's a great thing to
- 41:00have on their resume, but. This new black.
- 41:04I mean like this Black Flag now is like Black Flag karaoke but
- 41:08bad. And it's not.
- 41:09I'm not knocking the players or the singer.
- 41:11She's very good, has stage presence, is doing justice to
- 41:15the material. But this is not good.
- 41:17You should have picked some veteran punks to fill out a
- 41:20Black Flag lineup, you know? But Greg, do what you want to
- 41:24do, bro. Sumac and Warm Mother are
- 41:28kicking off some dates coming up next month for their live
- 41:31performances of their new release, The Film.
- 41:36Forbidden I kind. OF would love to go to this, but
- 41:39again, I just don't think I'm getting down to LA this summer.
- 41:41It also seems like LA in the summertime is hell he got.
- 41:46Them so he can play less I. Don't know did you see that
- 41:48line? Oh, you're not on.
- 41:49You're here on TikTok. If you go re watch this or you
- 41:51go look up the Black Flag tour dates there.
- 41:53You have like 50 eights in the next two months in Europe.
- 41:58So cool to stay over in Europe and these kids are probably
- 42:00going to Europe for the first time ever.
- 42:02But I think I'll payless. Absolutely he can pay them less.
- 42:05I mean you know Greg is notorious for that.
- 42:08Forbidden is going to play 40 Years of Twisted Metal.
- 42:11I assume they mean Twisted into form.
- 42:14They're playing in LA at the Tetragram Ballroom July 25th
- 42:17with Nasty Savage, Hellfire and Void.
- 42:21This is a sick line up and I would love to go see it.
- 42:25Huge Forbidden fan here. Waiting for that new music.
- 42:27I hope you will get a new single eventually just in case you like
- 42:32hip hop. This.
- 42:33This impeached my interest. Not that I would go but the
- 42:36Thuggish Ruggish Mafia tour with Three 6 Mafia Co headlining with
- 42:41Bone Thugs N Harmony and all five members will be there with
- 42:46Tech 9 we've covered before and talked to before and DJ Quick
- 42:50and also special guests. So this is probably like Tech 9
- 42:53DJ Quick and a bunch of buy on people.
- 42:58But maybe this is interesting to you.
- 42:59If you have nostalgia for like bone bugs and Harmony, I told
- 43:03this story a while back. I host karaoke on Sundays here
- 43:06in San Francisco. And then I attended karaoke on
- 43:09Monday for enjoyment. And I, I worked a birthday party
- 43:13a couple of months ago and it was this white guy with Karen
- 43:15hair, always a bad sign, a straight white guy in San
- 43:18Francisco with like fucking terrible Karen hair.
- 43:21And he had like a phone list of obscure shit.
- 43:23And I was like, you keep asking for like very obscure shit.
- 43:26He's like, could you, could you meet me at the crossroads?
- 43:28And I was like, cool, I'll back you up and like the sixth line,
- 43:32you know, meeting at the crossroads is like a straight up
- 43:35N bomb. And my dude, a white, slender
- 43:41straight guy from San Francisco is like hit it like it was his
- 43:45job to hit that N bomb. And I was like, I just was like
- 43:49word, wow. I'm I made him tip me, tip me
- 43:55extra for that trauma I had to suffer.
- 43:58What a fucking clown. But anyway, Carl name for
- 44:04Superman's dad, has a new album out right now, and they've
- 44:06announced an Astral Voyaging 2025 tour with support from
- 44:11Insomniac. This is going to take place in
- 44:13the Southeast, Northeast, Midwest all through the fall.
- 44:18So that's fucking cool. From mid-october until the
- 44:21beginning of. The beginning of Oh, Hey Scott.
- 44:25Is here and Riff Haven is here. Queens of the Stone anger on.
- 44:32Tour right now making updates. They cancelled last year when
- 44:35Josh Ham or Hammy was ill. I don't know if you guys are
- 44:37fans of Marc Maron's What the Fuck Podcast, but absolutely a
- 44:43great new interview with Josh and Mark.
- 44:47Mark is winding down his podcast.
- 44:49Thank you to my girlfriend for telling me about this.
- 44:51So I need to catch up on some older episodes.
- 44:54Something stupid with Don says my dad got a black tune with him
- 44:56to do karaoke. Biggie Smalls.
- 44:58He would do everything but the other.
- 45:00Of course man, I got you. I always replace troublesome
- 45:04triggering words with bitch because I feel like guys are
- 45:07bitches, females are bitches. They them's can be bitches.
- 45:11Everybody can be a bitch like 7 does said bitches and not just
- 45:14women can be everybody. This weekend here in Oakland,
- 45:18Acid Bath and High On Fire with other special guests is playing
- 45:22the Fox Theater. I mean to see Acid Bath while
- 45:25they're on this reunion. I believe I will see them in
- 45:27Aftershock. It's going to be hot as fuck.
- 45:30I do. I would prefer a full show.
- 45:32Maybe I'll get to 1 of the fall shows somewhere else in the
- 45:35country. We shall see.
- 45:36But very 16 is the other band on the show.
- 45:39We just recently interviewed Bobby Ferry of 16.
- 45:42New album out now. Guides for the Misguided is
- 45:45their new album on Relapse. Matt Sabbath is on tour and.
- 45:49Continues to say this is their last tour, but they also
- 45:51continue to add more tour dates and festivals.
- 45:55Dude and say the word I got. You brother.
- 45:58Oh and your dad also works with the singer Advance Advance
- 46:00Brother as Dax Riggs. Word up.
- 46:02That's awesome. Dax is cool.
- 46:04I know he hates the music industry so I will never get
- 46:06that interview but I would really love to.
- 46:09We got the news. A few weeks ago that's fall
- 46:11barred. They've been saying since 2000
- 46:15this is their last tour. Absolutely so true.
- 46:19They have been saying that. Small Board announced they're
- 46:22breaking up at the end of this year to do other things.
- 46:26I'm sure Serena Cherry will do her solo band.
- 46:31Her black metal solo project Cage Fight will be one of the
- 46:35openers. Glasgow, Manchester, Newcastle.
- 46:41Bristol and London hopefully. We'll cover the Manchester show
- 46:44at Rebellion Miracle. Blood is here.
- 46:46What up? What up?
- 46:48Ted Sharks, we were talking about our interview with the
- 46:50band last week, Josh Fiore and and Diamond Row.
- 46:53Now they are finally coming back to England next weekend to the
- 46:57the UK and Europe for the first time since before the pandemic.
- 47:01Very cool for them once again. We're more than halfway through
- 47:07with the show. I'm almost done here.
- 47:09I got to get out of Dodge soon, but if you feel like giving us a
- 47:12tip, we appreciate it. You can tip us at the links in
- 47:15the description. I'll drop it in the comments one
- 47:18last time. Feel free to tip us because you
- 47:20know it's work to put this show together.
- 47:23We used to shoot these like on video and then my partner would
- 47:27edit them and then we would run them on Friday morning and now
- 47:31live stream became a thing and here we are.
- 47:36All right, just a quick note for our affiliate partners, Lamb
- 47:39Goat Lamb goat is the meaner version of Ghost cult.
- 47:42Whenever you see ads on our website at Ghost cult man that
- 47:45is from Lamb goat. Lamb Goat media network includes
- 47:49Ghost cult, Lamb goat, obviously metal insider this day and metal
- 47:53new metal agenda and Anthony Fantano the needle drop I have
- 47:58been checking out. He finally launched a website to
- 48:00go with his YouTube and podcast stuff and he has a story about
- 48:05how AI music is evil. And I'm not the biggest
- 48:08Timberland fan or expert, but apparently Timberland is.
- 48:13Who is, you know, one of the biggest hit making producers of
- 48:16all time is like going all in on AI music, which to me seems
- 48:21fucking dumb if you're that talented and good on your own or
- 48:24not that talented and good on your own.
- 48:25I guess lazy, trying to just make money and do less work?
- 48:29I don't fucking know. Or am I actually wearing my
- 48:31Aftershock hat? That's pretty funny and stream
- 48:35Yard, if you're watching this, unfortunately everywhere but
- 48:37TikTok, we're streaming on Stream Yard.
- 48:40You can sign up on our link in the description for $10 off your
- 48:44plan and we will get $10 off our next month's bill.
- 48:48Stream Yard for all your streaming needs.
- 48:50OK, we're also on Twitch. As you can see, I love that
- 48:52picture of me. We're on all the things.
- 48:54We've got a newsletter I need to restart.
- 48:57Check us out. This meme continues to be on
- 49:00point until it is not on point anymore.
- 49:02I will keep running this meme. It's time for the the rest of
- 49:05the news. So here we go, we're going to go
- 49:07rapid fire Nirvana. Smells Like Teen Spirit has
- 49:17passed 2 billion streams on YouTube and they already have
- 49:21over a a billion plus streams on all streaming platforms beside
- 49:26YouTube. They passed the 1 billion mark
- 49:30in late 2019, so it'd be interesting to see if this song
- 49:34continues to, you know, rack up billions.
- 49:36It probably will long before we're while we're all dust and
- 49:39gone, they will continue to stream all their stuff.
- 49:43Hoffman is here. Melvin is here, Randall is here
- 49:46and Cali is here. And Justin, nice to see you all.
- 49:49Thanks for being here. I appreciate you and.
- 49:52Everybody watching on the tube. Of you.
- 49:55Rivers of Nile we've been. Talking a lot lately, I I don't
- 49:58really pay close attention to the charts, but when it matters
- 50:01for rock and metal, I do Rivers of Nile put out their
- 50:03self-titled album recently. We have a great interview here
- 50:06on the channel Brody Utley and they're in the Hard Rock, metal
- 50:12and independent label charts way at the top.
- 50:15So congratulations to their whole team and just metal blade
- 50:20and their whole worldwide team. Just phenomenal.
- 50:22Phenomenal. Phenomenal job by the band. #2
- 50:27on the Hard Rock charts behind Sleep token, which again is
- 50:31incredible. Orange 9mm red.
- 50:35Alert Orange 9mm is not just back, they're back with their
- 50:39first new song in 26 years. Turn It Up is out now with their
- 50:43new line up. I assume they're going to be
- 50:46recording their new album for release in 2026.
- 50:50Station. Big fan here.
- 50:54My first hardcore show ever. Was monkey pup and burn Burn
- 50:57became orange 9mm and monkey pup kind of morphed into doggie dog.
- 51:01So you have a little time context for me.
- 51:04Alice Winner and Keanu Reeves are going to be on Broadway.
- 51:09That's the Bill and Ted actors from Waiting for the Doe and
- 51:13there is talk about maybe a Bill and Ted 4 and not taking 20
- 51:18years to make it anarchy. Faye's brother-in-law played
- 51:22with dog star. That's killer.
- 51:25I've never seen. Dog Star.
- 51:26I heard that Keanu is like the most rudimentary basic bassist
- 51:30ever, but like, fucking cool. Cool that he's still trying to
- 51:33help his friends get their band out there.
- 51:36I need this to be a band. Here's a picture, for no
- 51:39particular reason, of Joey Belladonna, Chuck Billy, and
- 51:43Blitz from Overkill. While Chuck Billy is wearing the
- 51:46classic Overkill Ramon style shirt.
- 51:50Testament is working on their new album Now I know that Steve
- 51:54Souza is working with Chuck on Lyrics Day.
- 51:57Steve has been part of the lyric writing for Testament a lot in
- 52:01the past. We are supposed to get a new
- 52:03Anthrax record next year or late this year.
- 52:06Overkill still on tour around the world.
- 52:09Pretty damn killer. Anarchy Faces, Electromotive
- 52:13Electric Butterfly, Echo of Souls to change your name
- 52:16multiple times to key. Honestly, it's very nice, but
- 52:18shy. That is accurate.
- 52:20Our own photographer, Isabel, who's category, who is nursing a
- 52:26knee injury right now, she met piano at the airport one time
- 52:31when going to cover a festival for Ghost cult.
- 52:35And he was very, they met at 5:00 in the morning and she has
- 52:38to take a selfie with him and he like fixed his hair and then
- 52:40took a photo. So I think that was really nice.
- 52:42He is apparently very shy. Yeah.
- 52:44New Testament, probably next year.
- 52:46I'm, I'm pumped. The White Stripes have action
- 52:49figures, reaction figures from Super 7.
- 52:51We've been talking a lot about Super 7 and Funko and all the
- 52:55toys and comic book stuff that we love and the new Rock and
- 53:00Roll Hall of Fame. White Stripes, as I predicted
- 53:02that they would get in and now they have reaction figures just
- 53:05in time. So celebrate.
- 53:09Anarchy, Fay says I. Love that after the show he said
- 53:11quietly in the corner to read a book that is super killer.
- 53:14All the killing Testament were awesome when you saw them.
- 53:16Not surprising. Two of the most consistent and
- 53:18killer live bands ever. It was that Pete Weber is.
- 53:23Drumming for Testament now. He used to be in Havoc.
- 53:26Guys killer. Unfortunately for Havoc, all
- 53:28their guys get pillaged by other bands.
- 53:30Machine Heads took their lead guitarist and Testaments took
- 53:33their drummer. And I think also Jason Bittner
- 53:38popped up on my Instagram this week.
- 53:40Who is he playing drums for? That surprised me.
- 53:45Another thrash band. I can't remember.
- 53:48I'll have it next week. You got to plug a new band
- 53:53called Bianna Tops. I feel like I know that band.
- 53:55Yeah, I know that band. So Billy Rymer and Joe Spiller.
- 53:58I know. I know Joe.
- 53:59I think he was live with the boarded Joe's band, his
- 54:02caricature. We were friends at one point.
- 54:04Not friends anymore, but Joe is very talented.
- 54:07A new song called Adventures of the Swamp Dog and Stelly Bee
- 54:10best describes Mudvayne meets Early Private.
- 54:12It's not a surprise. Reimer's incredible.
- 54:14Joseph is very talented. I will.
- 54:18I will not share the rest of the story.
- 54:21Hang Havoc singer did a part of war as my shepherd.
- 54:23Yeah man, Havoc is great and David is hella underrated.
- 54:28We interviewed him at Osfest meets Notfest back in 2018.
- 54:34All right. Moving on, Volby's new album is
- 54:37out now and they have a new video out.
- 54:42They have some dope vinyl. You know, Volby is on the
- 54:46biggest record label in the world, along with a bunch of
- 54:48other bands, so. Kind of kind of cool for them
- 54:52to. Be able to tackle the world.
- 54:54They're going to be on tour everywhere this summer and fall
- 54:58and next year. Billy Idol's documentary Billy
- 55:00Idol Should Be Dead debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival this
- 55:03week, followed by a Little Unplugged show by Steve Stevens
- 55:07and Billy Idol. Very cool.
- 55:09I'm looking forward to seeing this and bringing you my review
- 55:11of it soon. I had to share this.
- 55:16If you get it, you get it. I have been to Randy's Donuts in
- 55:19Englewood. By the way, these cops like Karl
- 55:23Marx. Karl Marx compatal.
- 55:25That's compatal Volume 1. You know, what's going on is
- 55:30nothing short of a Wag the Dog situation.
- 55:32America was founded on protest. Not always peaceful, but
- 55:38absolutely your right. Your freedom of speech and
- 55:41freedom of demonstration is your American rights.
- 55:45And honestly, I have friends that are in LA and they're
- 55:48reporting back to me and telling me what's going on there.
- 55:51And it is not what you've been told, just so you know.
- 55:56All right, it's time for New Music Friday.
- 55:59Let's get on with the show. New Music Friday out this week
- 56:02for June 13th. I'm going to and then I'll put
- 56:05myself back on the screen and you can enjoy my face for a few
- 56:07more minutes. Album's out this week.
- 56:10I'm going to do album name, band name, album name, label, genre.
- 56:15So you know what to go pick up. Get your pens and pencils out or
- 56:18pause this, or go back and watch this later.
- 56:23We spent a lot of time. Shout out again to my partner
- 56:26Omar Kordy for editing these. A lot of work goes into these
- 56:30because we are trying to uplift unsigned and underground bands.
- 56:36OK? Albums out this week include the
- 56:40new Pixel Grip Arfagong which is some on their album titles
- 56:48called Andevac by Norse Music. Progressive Black Metal
- 56:52archivist Waving at the Sky on Inside Out Century Media for
- 56:56some progressive metal boot blacks.
- 56:58The album name is Paradise on Artifact Records.
- 57:01The great Artifact Records for some post punk, modern post punk
- 57:05Buckcherry, Oh you come again, Roar like Thunder.
- 57:11Very original title there. Round Hill Records for some Hard
- 57:14Rock. Bio noise generator.
- 57:17Subnormal dives on the great transcending obscurity records
- 57:22for some jazz grind. The probably my favorite or
- 57:26second favorite record coming out tomorrow, Byzantine
- 57:29Harbingers on Metal Blade Records.
- 57:31Our writer gave this a 9:50. We do not give out a lot of 10
- 57:35of 10s. That is a 9:50 and I back that.
- 57:38That's a Richard Reynolds giving us a 9:50 there for some modern
- 57:42metal. Basically Mastodon meets Lamb of
- 57:45God meets Testament Byzantine. Check them out from West
- 57:49Virginia. Dolven in my grave Silence.
- 57:53That's a self released album for some acoustic doom.
- 57:56Fairy Land, the story. Remains on Frontiers SRL for
- 57:59some French symphonic metal. My favorite release of this week
- 58:03beside Byzantine is Goya in the dawn of November.
- 58:06The Phoenix Band on Blues Funeral Recordings for some doom
- 58:10metal. Hex Vessel Killer band.
- 58:12Nocturne on Prophecy production for some black metal.
- 58:15Hollow Leg Dust and Echoes self release for some heavy rock and
- 58:18sludge. King Gizzard and Lizard Wizard
- 58:20under 18,000,000 records a year. Phantom Island on their own
- 58:24record label for King Gizzard music.
- 58:26I don't know what else to call it.
- 58:27Have I heard the album Underground Forever by Dusk
- 58:30Walker? I don't think I have.
- 58:32I'll have to check that out. I'll make a mental note.
- 58:36Also also. See what else Kings have A to
- 58:40speak in Tongues on Rottweiler Records for some death metal.
- 58:43Lights of Vimana Neopolis on Dusk Tone recordings.
- 58:48Malvada self-titled on Frontiers SRL for some more Brazilian Hard
- 58:52Rock. Night Bearer Defiance Testimony
- 58:57records for some death metal. Row of Ashes Tied into Ruin on
- 59:02Road to Masochist Records for some post hardcore and sludge
- 59:06metal. Shrink Wrap Killers This is a
- 59:09killer album. Feed the Cones Part 2 on
- 59:11Carbonized Records for some low wave synth punk.
- 59:14I love this band. One of the best bands I have
- 59:17ever seen in the whole world. Sigh.
- 59:19I saw The World's End The Peaceful records.
- 59:21I saw them in Europe for some more black metal.
- 59:24Signeri self-titled and Vicky Solon production for some
- 59:27Swedish dark and black metal. Star Circus from The Wreckage on
- 59:32Renaissance Records for some tempo Hard Rock and Sun After
- 59:37Dark. Topcroft on Hammerhart Records
- 59:41for some atmospheric black metal.
- 59:43And there's a few things coming out this weekend again.
- 59:47Pixel Grip, who I love for some synthy punk, rocky industrial
- 59:52metal, Deathblow, Machete and other bands.
- 59:56And then next week. So we're almost done with June,
- 59:58halfway through June 1 of the busiest months of the year.
- 1:00:02And that means it's time for the mailbag.
- 1:00:05And hey, it's me, I'm back. So here's what I got in the
- 1:00:08mailbag this week that I wanted to share with you all.
- 1:00:13This is a brand new. Retrospective book, 40 years of
- 1:00:17Guns and Roses out on quartel books.
- 1:00:20This is written by perhaps the Dean of Metal writers.
- 1:00:24There's about four or five writers that I really love that
- 1:00:28write and I don't want to read anybody, anybody else's stuff
- 1:00:33too much because I don't want to influence my writing.
- 1:00:36But Martin Popoff, you've seen him on Banger TV and things like
- 1:00:39that, and he's very prolific. He puts out four or five books a
- 1:00:42year, but then he does, he's like giant books sometimes.
- 1:00:45And so this Quanto Press sent me this book.
- 1:00:47This is absolutely a banger. It is unbelievably beautiful.
- 1:00:52I should have my second camera out, but just take a look at
- 1:00:54some of the details here. Every single thing songs talked
- 1:00:58about history of the band, live photography, exclusive stuff you
- 1:01:03won't get anywhere else. This is not a cheap book.
- 1:01:06This is a coffee table book. This is a conversation piece you
- 1:01:08want to have. We've reviewed and talked about
- 1:01:11some of these books before. The band that drove a stake
- 1:01:15through the heart of hair metal. I had a debate today on a
- 1:01:18podcast about hair metal. I like using the word hair metal
- 1:01:22in glam metal because I think of people like Steve Rachel of
- 1:01:27Tough getting like a pain in his balls like a voodoo doll from me
- 1:01:30saying hair metal because I like a lot of that stuff.
- 1:01:32And to me a lot of the glam rock and hair metal is just good 80's
- 1:01:36pop rock. Dom says this week in the solo
- 1:01:39project, Ralia is releasing a new single in there.
- 1:01:42Like avant-garde black metal word.
- 1:01:44I know the band with your with the Lovecraftian themes and
- 1:01:49names. So I'm into it.
- 1:01:51And so, yeah, check out that guns and.
- 1:01:53Roses book. There'll be a review soon.
- 1:01:54I am trying to get like dig out from under all my reviews and
- 1:01:57things. I have Vinnie Paul cooking book
- 1:02:00to review. I was sent this book.
- 1:02:02I have another couple of books I need to get through.
- 1:02:04I'm doing the Gary Hulk book right now.
- 1:02:08No, a different one. OK, cool.
- 1:02:10I understand. I'll check that out.
- 1:02:11Tom. Thank you for those pics and
- 1:02:13hits and thank you Dillinger and thank you Anarchy Faye and
- 1:02:16thanks for my real ones and thanks for everybody else
- 1:02:18watching. I hope to get Instagram UN
- 1:02:20fucked by next week. There's just a picture of GNR at
- 1:02:23Tone slash. Thanks for checking out the
- 1:02:26show. That is it this week.
- 1:02:28Thanks for watching I'm I'm hitting the road.
- 1:02:32But I say every week at this juncture of the show, it's a
- 1:02:34tough time in the world. You can spend your time watching
- 1:02:37any other content. You hung out with me and I'm
- 1:02:40really grateful and appreciative.
- 1:02:41Every single person that follows us.
- 1:02:43I try to follow back or comment or acknowledge you, and if I
- 1:02:47didn't just DM me and let me know.
- 1:02:49Thanks Anarchy Faye, I appreciate you and tell us more
- 1:02:55than anything else. Tell us what you liked.
- 1:02:56Tell us what you did not like. Tell us what you want to hear
- 1:02:59and see more of. This is your show as much as
- 1:03:02it's my show. And finally, as we say, every
- 1:03:05week at the juncture of the show is a tough time in the world.
- 1:03:08So please take care of yourselves, take care of each
- 1:03:10other and stay as metal as humanly possible.
- 1:03:12Don't drink and drive. Don't let the bastards grind you
- 1:03:15down. Don't let the fascists win.
- 1:03:17And I'm going to dance a jig on the way out.
- 1:03:19I'll see you next week. Everybody.
- 1:03:20Peace out. And Novak?
- 1:03:26Because I don't have. Oh well, I will dance a jig
- 1:03:28anyway. Just imagine the.
- 1:03:36Thanks everybody, take care.
