- 0:24Speaker 1: a Hallmark review podcast. I'm Megan and I'm a longtime
- 0:26Speaker 1: Hallmark fan. I'm Wendy. I'm a former Hallmark hater. Today
- 0:30Speaker 1: we're discussing tidings for the season, which originally aired on Sunday,
- 0:34Speaker 1: November sixteenth, twenty twenty five, and you can stream it
- 0:37Speaker 1: right now on the Hallmark Plus streaming platform. If you
- 0:41Speaker 1: want more of Megan and Winity this holiday season, we've
- 0:44Speaker 1: encouraged you to join our Patreon, where we publish four
- 0:47Speaker 1: weekly episodes monthly outside of the realm of Hallmark. Their
- 0:52Speaker 1: pop culture, their life, their peak behind the curtain. They're
- 0:55Speaker 1: a little more personal. You can get a full week

- 1:05Speaker 2: Hey, I'm gonna promote our Blue Sky and Threads if
- 1:10Speaker 2: I may. On Monday nights, we have been live. I
- 1:16Speaker 2: don't want you see live posting whatever it's called for
- 1:20Speaker 2: these platforms. I'm usually on Blue Sky, Megan's over around Threads.
- 1:23Speaker 2: We are at Girls Gone Hallmark on both of them.
- 1:27Speaker 1: It's been fun.
- 1:28Speaker 2: I miss that sort of like live interaction but let
- 1:32Speaker 2: me tell you, I need more people to come over
- 1:34Speaker 2: and engage with me, because I'm just talking into a
- 1:36Speaker 2: void over there. It seems like I know, and I
- 1:39Speaker 2: say specifically that we were doing finding mister Christmas.
- 1:42Speaker 1: I don't know that. I don't know. Yeah, Monday's finding
- 1:45Speaker 1: mister Christmas. Monday's finding mister Christmas. Yeah. Hey, I have
- 1:49Speaker 1: a little note. In our episode that dropped yesterday, which
- 1:54Speaker 1: is Three Wiser Men. We discussed the extended cut on
- 2:00Speaker 1: Hallmark Plus? Have you seen it? Have I watched the
- 2:04Speaker 1: extended cut on Hallmark Plus? Is your question? No? No,
- 2:08Speaker 1: So I watched the ending because I heard there was
- 2:10Speaker 1: an alternate ending, and there is. There's an extended ending.
- 2:15Speaker 1: I didn't watch the whole thing. I know there's some
- 2:16Speaker 1: additional scenes. I didn't have another hour and a half
- 2:18Speaker 1: to watch the whole thing to find them. But they do.
- 2:22Speaker 1: There is more clarity at the end of the movie.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Why didn't they use that ending? I don't know. It's
- 2:28Speaker 1: very interesting because it's kind of a key plot point
- 2:32Speaker 1: that they wrap up. That's the house. Yes, would you
- 2:36Speaker 1: like me to tell you what happens with the house? Yeah?
- 2:39Speaker 1: Listeners skip forward? Yes, if you don't want to hear
- 2:42Speaker 1: you want to discover it on your owns. But go ahead,
- 2:44Speaker 1: and Megan, I'm listening. Taylor purchases the house for his mother.
- 2:48Speaker 1: He goes, I'm rich. I can do whatever I want.
- 2:51Speaker 1: She's like, did the other boys know there? Of course there?
- 2:52Speaker 1: And he's like, nothing happens without these two because I
- 2:55Speaker 1: had forgotten the plot point that yes, she wanted to downsize,
- 2:57Speaker 1: but she also wanted more money to be able to
- 2:59Speaker 1: try travel. And so he says, now you can travel
- 3:02Speaker 1: and do whatever you want, but you can keep the house.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Oh that's nice. They should have that's the Indian they
- 3:07Speaker 1: should have used.
- 3:08Speaker 3: I agree.
- 3:10Speaker 1: I agree that would have been great. So there's more
- 3:13Speaker 1: clarity there.
- 3:16Speaker 2: I don't know if you saw, but in our Facebook group,
- 3:18Speaker 2: somebody had asked just trying to get a general consensus
- 3:21Speaker 2: of what they thought of three ways men.
- 3:25Speaker 1: I did see. I wrote that I feel like I
- 3:27Speaker 1: might need to go into hiding after my review. Yes, well,
- 3:31Speaker 1: I will say that I edited that review, so I
- 3:35Speaker 1: re listened to it, and I think it's fair. Honestly,
- 3:39Speaker 1: I think there's a lot that we really liked about.
- 3:41Speaker 1: It wasn't our favorite movie of the year. But I
- 3:43Speaker 1: was worried after we recorded it and then upon relstening.
- 3:46Speaker 1: I honestly think it's very fair. Okay good, So yeah,
- 3:51Speaker 1: I don't think there was. It doesn't come across to
- 3:54Speaker 1: me as the person who created the episode. It doesn't
- 3:57Speaker 1: come across me and spirited. In my opinion, it doesn't
- 3:59Speaker 1: come as a takedown. That is never the intention. No,
- 4:03Speaker 1: of course, but I think people can read into things,
- 4:07Speaker 1: and I don't think that comes through it all. I
- 4:10Speaker 1: think it's a very fair and balanced review. Okay, good,
- 4:13Speaker 1: But if you have thoughts about it, you can always
- 4:14Speaker 1: email us at girls Gun Hallmark at gmail dot com. Yeah,
- 4:17Speaker 1: if you disagree with my assessment, let us know. Yeah.
- 4:21Speaker 3: Let's kick off.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Tighting for the Season talk with a synopsis.
- 4:25Speaker 2: A serious TV newscaster's life changes when he meets a
- 4:29Speaker 2: young superfan and the boy's hard working single mom. As
- 4:33Speaker 2: he embraces positive holiday stories, romance blooms, but a career
- 4:38Speaker 2: opportunity forces him to choose between ambition and love.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Linda Lisa Hayter directs Tightings for the season, marking her
- 4:45Speaker 1: seventeenth project behind the camera. Her previous Hallmark work includes Haunted,
- 4:50Speaker 1: Harmony Mysteries, Buried at Sea and Sign Seal Delivered to
- 4:53Speaker 1: the Moon and Back. Joey Elkins and Blake Silver are
- 4:57Speaker 1: responsible for the script. Joey Elkins eight writing credits and
- 5:01Speaker 1: a strong Hallmark resume including Game of Love, Autumn in
- 5:04Speaker 1: the City, and Unlocking Christmas. He's also contributed to the
- 5:09Speaker 1: hit Netflix series Outer Banks. Did you do you watch
- 5:12Speaker 1: Outer Banks? No, that's a.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Real gen Z show. Blake Silver also has nine writing
- 5:19Speaker 2: credits and has worked on many of the same Hallmark
- 5:22Speaker 2: titles as Joey.
- 5:24Speaker 1: Bj Britt stars as Adam Caide with fifty eight acting credits.
- 5:28Speaker 1: BJ's probably best known for his role as Pete from
- 5:30Speaker 1: the Groomsman trilogy. It's worth noting that Bja recently starred
- 5:34Speaker 1: in hashtag Worst Christmas Ever on Amazon Prime that currently
- 5:38Speaker 1: has a ten out of ten rating on IMDb. Have
- 5:41Speaker 1: you ever seen a ten out of ten rating? No?
- 5:44Speaker 1: I mean, this movie has a seven point two, which
- 5:47Speaker 1: is pretty high for a Hallmark movie, but ten out
- 5:50Speaker 1: of ten that's I've never seen any such thing.
- 5:53Speaker 3: It.
- 5:54Speaker 1: There must be one review.
- 5:56Speaker 2: It may have just been one review. I don't even
- 5:58Speaker 2: know it. Is it currently out?
- 6:01Speaker 1: Yeah? That was my question. Has it even aired? Yet
- 6:03Speaker 1: I don't know. No idea, no idea.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Tamara Mawory Houselee stars as Lucy. Tamara has forty one
- 6:10Speaker 2: acting credits and we last saw her in Haunted, Harmony
- 6:13Speaker 2: Mysteries Buried at Sea. She is currently hosting the Hallmark
- 6:17Speaker 2: reality baking competition Baked with Love Holiday.
- 6:20Speaker 1: Elijah Justice Lewis plays Robbie. This is his second acting
- 6:23Speaker 1: credit and his first project for Hallmark. Matthew James Downham
- 6:27Speaker 1: plays Todd. You might recognize Matthew from his role as
- 6:30Speaker 1: Pastor McGregor on The Chicken Sisters. This movie marks his
- 6:34Speaker 1: thirty fifth acting credit. This movie had an original working
- 6:38Speaker 1: title of Tonight's Top Story. It was filmed in and
- 6:40Speaker 1: around Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, in August twenty twenty five.
- 6:45Speaker 1: We are going to take a quick break and come
- 6:47Speaker 1: right back with our first impressions. Hey, Wendy, what was
- 6:57Speaker 1: your first impression of tidings for the season. Well, the story.
- 7:01Speaker 2: Feels like someone at Hamewark is trying to gently pry
- 7:06Speaker 2: MSNBC out of my cold, anxious hands.
- 7:11Speaker 1: My first impression is Robbie for President. I love Robbie. Oh,
- 7:15Speaker 1: I can't wait to talk about it. Oh my gosh,
- 7:18Speaker 1: we'll tell me what you liked about this movie.
- 7:19Speaker 2: Let's start with Robbie. Robbie is the heart of this
- 7:22Speaker 2: whole entire movie. And you know, I don't say that
- 7:25Speaker 2: lightly because children and homework movies is usually a no
- 7:28Speaker 2: from me.
- 7:29Speaker 1: Dogs. He was just so cute and natural, and he
- 7:32Speaker 1: wasn't delivering his lines like they were like feeding the
- 7:37Speaker 1: lines zone. He was just so adorable.
- 7:40Speaker 2: I thought that his scenes with both like his mom
- 7:43Speaker 2: Lucy and with Adam were the real emotional moments that
- 7:49Speaker 2: like made the movie move along for me.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Yeah you really said at all? He quite frankly steals
- 7:55Speaker 1: the show for me. Robbie is the movie.
- 7:58Speaker 2: I was like, Robbi's gonna grow up to be like
- 8:00Speaker 2: a famous actor someday. I know his name is not Robbie,
- 8:04Speaker 2: his name is.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Elijah Justice Lewis, But yeah, he's adorable, real cute. I
- 8:10Speaker 1: mean his face is so cute. Yes, in his one
- 8:12Speaker 1: little missing tooth, like right now, Christiness, you know he's
- 8:15Speaker 1: got those kid teeth. Yeah, he was adorable. Great, And
- 8:19Speaker 1: I'm saying I can't believe I'm saying that. Honestly, it's
- 8:23Speaker 1: very timely to want to see some good news on
- 8:25Speaker 1: our screens. I don't disagree with the messaging there. I
- 8:29Speaker 1: do have some issues with that storyline, but I don't
- 8:32Speaker 1: disagree with Lucy being like, I'm turning off the news.
- 8:35Speaker 1: I do not need this in my life.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Right, because crisis fatigue is real. I say this to
- 8:41Speaker 2: myself every single night as I'm laying in bed, doom
- 8:44Speaker 2: scrolling looking at the news of the day, and I'm
- 8:46Speaker 2: just like, put it away, Wendy, just.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Turn it all well, especially Robbie's a local news anchor, right,
- 8:51Speaker 1: and if you like the local news, rob like Robbie
- 8:55Speaker 1: Adam is a local news anchor, and you turn on
- 8:59Speaker 1: a local news and it's shooting this and car accident
- 9:02Speaker 1: that and carbon monoxide poisoning this, and yeah, it's radable.
- 9:06Speaker 1: It's always bad.
- 9:07Speaker 2: I'm like, why would people want to turn on the
- 9:09Speaker 2: five o'clock news to watch all the tragedies in their
- 9:11Speaker 2: community of the day.
- 9:13Speaker 1: It's awful. And I actually was thinking about it. I
- 9:15Speaker 1: was like, who needs that information? Like it seems like
- 9:17Speaker 1: there's information that the news should be bringing us that's
- 9:21Speaker 1: relevant to our lives. But how is so much of
- 9:24Speaker 1: this tragedy relevant to my daily life? Yeah. I mean,
- 9:28Speaker 1: I think we've talked.
- 9:29Speaker 2: They talked about it in this movie too, that what
- 9:32Speaker 2: was his name, Todd, the like producer basically was like,
- 9:35Speaker 2: you know, human interest stories are boring. People want sensationalized tragedies.
- 9:43Speaker 2: It's like a sick fascination for people.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Yeah, why are there five Murdoch murders? Got the countries
- 9:49Speaker 1: and movies? So yes, exactly blame the humans. M h.
- 9:55Speaker 2: This might be a controversial take. I enjoyed the slow
- 9:59Speaker 2: burd In romance. It's nice in theory, Like I appreciate.
- 10:04Speaker 1: When like two adults don't lock eyes and then their
- 10:07Speaker 1: soulmates and then then we're in love by the end
- 10:09Speaker 1: of the movie. It's realistic. It's it's realistic.
- 10:13Speaker 2: Now, I can't say that I totally bought into their
- 10:15Speaker 2: like romantic chemistry, but there's gonna be I'm gonna talk
- 10:18Speaker 2: about it more in the Wishes.
- 10:19Speaker 3: Okay.
- 10:19Speaker 1: I have some small likes worth mentioning. I thought the
- 10:23Speaker 1: wardrobe game was real strong in this movie. I thought
- 10:26Speaker 1: Lucy looks sharp in every scene, as does Robbie and Caid.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Quite frankly, Lucy's wardrobe was the most notable, but I
- 10:35Speaker 1: loved Caid's suits, and I love little Robbie all dressed up.
- 10:39Speaker 1: I just thought everybody looked really good.
- 10:41Speaker 2: I agree when they turn when like Adam decides he
- 10:45Speaker 2: needs to like freshen up his wardrobe or whatever, and
- 10:48Speaker 2: he goes from like the boring blue conservative suit to
- 10:51Speaker 2: like something a little more snazzy, he looks great. It
- 10:54Speaker 2: was very reminiscent of the Groomsman movie where he gets
- 10:58Speaker 2: to makeover makeover. The man looks good in a suit.
- 11:03Speaker 2: There's no denying that.
- 11:05Speaker 1: Both before and the after we're great exactly.
- 11:08Speaker 2: As for Tamara, you know what's funny is I did
- 11:14Speaker 2: think her wardrobe was great in this, but there was
- 11:16Speaker 2: at one point she was in this beautiful, like off
- 11:19Speaker 2: white satin blouse that I was like, Oh that's giving,
- 11:22Speaker 2: Like that is so pretty.
- 11:24Speaker 1: I thought it was lovely, lovely, lovely. We got a
- 11:28Speaker 1: hairtuck on our smooch. I love a hairtuck.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Oh yeah, it always makes me wonder because you know,
- 11:35Speaker 2: I feel like we've been talking about that for Oh yeah,
- 11:38Speaker 2: is that scripted? Is that in the direction is somebody
- 11:42Speaker 2: listening to our podcast that two middle aged women are like,
- 11:47Speaker 2: just tuck the hair, you know?
- 11:51Speaker 1: Yeah, us our book Talk Book Talk loves a hairtuck
- 11:54Speaker 1: and a forehead kiss. They're delivering this year homemark. They
- 11:58Speaker 1: really are up. Both they got both are sweet. Twelve
- 12:03Speaker 1: Days of Christmas trees the one that got away, Yeah,
- 12:07Speaker 1: that was very sweet.
- 12:10Speaker 3: He just kept doing it.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Bet she shows up and I love their hug. Their
- 12:14Speaker 1: hug was prolonged. It felt real, like to people reconnecting. Yeah,
- 12:20Speaker 1: like how satis sad that this man is like doing
- 12:22Speaker 1: his twelve days at Christmas every single year hoping his
- 12:26Speaker 1: girl comes back, but nobody got on the internet for
- 12:29Speaker 1: him before that to like track her down. TikTok can
- 12:32Speaker 1: make these people famous, Like what is happening? I know, well,
- 12:36Speaker 1: I guess that's what happened here. Finally, Yeah, can I
- 12:41Speaker 1: tell you.
- 12:43Speaker 2: I want to talk about Tamara real quick. I think
- 12:46Speaker 2: she's great. I think she's a great actress.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Right. She is warm, she is loving.
- 12:54Speaker 2: But some of her and this is gonna sound like
- 12:56Speaker 2: a wish a little bit, but some of her characters
- 12:59Speaker 2: do start to blur together for me, and my favorite
- 13:04Speaker 2: Tamara is from The Santa Steakout because she's like silly
- 13:07Speaker 2: and colorful and figure out life. Like this character a
- 13:12Speaker 2: little bit more. I don't want to say rigid, like
- 13:16Speaker 2: she's a busy mom doing it all like I. It's
- 13:20Speaker 2: very relatable, right, she is the flow and I think
- 13:23Speaker 2: she's a wonderful actor.
- 13:25Speaker 1: I do wish, I do wish you would get better
- 13:27Speaker 1: movies last year. I don't know if you recall we
- 13:30Speaker 1: were on deck the Hallmark for scouting for Christmas and
- 13:32Speaker 1: I made a controversial statement. Do you recall this moment
- 13:37Speaker 1: I remember in the movie not being Great? What was
- 13:39Speaker 1: the statement I said? I Lovedmara Mowray Housley. I'm not
- 13:43Speaker 1: sure the Hallmark does, because they keep giving her these
- 13:46Speaker 1: scripts that she's doing the best she can, Like she's
- 13:51Speaker 1: doing what can be done here with the material that
- 13:54Speaker 1: she's given. But give her something more to work with.
- 13:58Speaker 2: What do you think about her in the Murdered Murdered
- 14:02Speaker 2: at scene that's not what it's called.
- 14:04Speaker 1: At the Haunted Harmony mysteries. I do like her in those.
- 14:08Speaker 1: She's a little more loose in those, Yes she is.
- 14:11Speaker 1: I do like her in the mysteries. But these Christmas movies,
- 14:15Speaker 1: I thought this movie was fine. That's really my overall tick.
- 14:18Speaker 1: I thought it was fine, real, kind of classic hallmarky,
- 14:22Speaker 1: mild conflict, slower in romance, mildly uptight woman right like, yeah,
- 14:28Speaker 1: I thought I thought it was fine. I thought it
- 14:30Speaker 1: was watchable. Thought I had some nice Christmasy moments in it,
- 14:34Speaker 1: some heartfelt things happening. But I would like to see
- 14:36Speaker 1: her get like the script of the year. Oh yeah,
- 14:40Speaker 1: wouldn't that be great? Like she's paid her dues, you know.
- 14:43Speaker 1: And I saw something on Blue Sky somewhere and they
- 14:48Speaker 1: were talking about why isn't she and her sister and
- 14:52Speaker 1: I'm yes together. I was just going to say that, Wow,
- 14:55Speaker 1: I can really hear your typing, because they were just
- 14:58Speaker 1: in a commercial together, and I was trying to figure out, oh,
- 15:02Speaker 1: home Goods, they just did a home goods commercial together. Ah.
- 15:05Speaker 1: But there was some online scuttle but that perhaps they
- 15:08Speaker 1: were on the outs, right, But then I've seen some
- 15:12Speaker 1: recent social media posts of them together, and then they
- 15:15Speaker 1: just were reunited for that home Goods commercial. So if
- 15:20Speaker 1: Homework could bring them together for a movie, I think
- 15:23Speaker 1: Tia does Lifetime sometimes, but if Homemark could bring them
- 15:28Speaker 1: together for a movie, the ratings would shoot through the roof.
- 15:31Speaker 1: People are dying for a sister sister reunion. I would
- 15:35Speaker 1: love to see them in a movie. I think it's
- 15:37Speaker 1: a misstep that Homework hasn't tried to make that happen,
- 15:41Speaker 1: or at least that it hasn't happen yet. Who knows
- 15:42Speaker 1: what they're doing behind the scenes, Right, do you have
- 15:46Speaker 1: more likes? That's it for me. Let's talk wishes.
- 15:49Speaker 2: I want to circle back to the romance here. Okay,
- 15:52Speaker 2: speaking of fine, The romance was fine, but it was
- 15:56Speaker 2: not the relationship I was rooting for while.
- 15:59Speaker 3: Watching this movie.
- 16:00Speaker 2: I thought Adam and Robbie were super adorable. That's the
- 16:06Speaker 2: bond that I cared about. I don't know if it
- 16:08Speaker 2: was like a future father figure or like big brother
- 16:12Speaker 2: situation dynamic, but that's what was.
- 16:17Speaker 1: The driving force for me. Yeah, I think there's a
- 16:20Speaker 1: little bit of a silent, subtle messaging about like leaning
- 16:24Speaker 1: into your village, because in the beginning of the movie,
- 16:28Speaker 1: Adam says to Lucy about Robbie, He's like, oh, takes
- 16:31Speaker 1: a village. She's like, I am the village. And in
- 16:34Speaker 1: many cases that's true, right, Like she's a single mom,
- 16:36Speaker 1: it is all on her shoulders, but when she has
- 16:39Speaker 1: to lean on somebody, they come through for her. And
- 16:43Speaker 1: I think that messaging like let your village come through
- 16:47Speaker 1: is a little bit stronger for me than the romance.
- 16:50Speaker 1: Like you said, like you can have these full, deep
- 16:52Speaker 1: relationships in your life without it always being romantic. Yeah,
- 16:57Speaker 1: and Lucy were very sweet.
- 16:58Speaker 2: They were very polite to each other, but there were
- 17:00Speaker 2: a very few sparks in my opinion, and I totally
- 17:07Speaker 2: didn't find it believable that he wouldn't take that Chicago job.
- 17:11Speaker 1: I don't understand he wanted this upward move. The conflict
- 17:17Speaker 1: is so familiar. She gets upset because he's been looking
- 17:22Speaker 1: for a job. I don't They are new in their relationship,
- 17:27Speaker 1: and in your opinion, did he need to be having
- 17:31Speaker 1: that discussion with her already? No, Oh, I might be
- 17:34Speaker 1: moving well, yeah, we've been on one date. Like sure,
- 17:38Speaker 1: I get being disappointed that this person I like and
- 17:41Speaker 1: I'm developing feelings for is moving away. But the anger,
- 17:45Speaker 1: as always, I felt like, was not justified there. And
- 17:50Speaker 1: I really was a little disappointed that he didn't take
- 17:54Speaker 1: the job right take the job. I know that I
- 17:59Speaker 1: know that we're trying to soften Adam here in this movie.
- 18:03Speaker 1: That's kind of one of the plot lines, is, you know,
- 18:06Speaker 1: smile a little and have a good time. And so
- 18:08Speaker 1: I think this is trying to prove that he has softened,
- 18:10Speaker 1: but well he can continue being a presence in Robbie's
- 18:16Speaker 1: life while following his dreams. I mean that would have
- 18:20Speaker 1: sent a big message to Robbie who has this dream
- 18:23Speaker 1: of being a newscaster. Yeah, exactly. You know what city
- 18:28Speaker 1: were they supposed to be? Minneapolis? Okay, I think that's
- 18:35Speaker 1: not that far. Actually, don't ask me much about geography,
- 18:39Speaker 1: but okay, my question is though, like you work for
- 18:44Speaker 1: something for so long, so many years, right, trying to
- 18:49Speaker 1: achieve like this goal he wants to be on like
- 18:51Speaker 1: a bigger national stage, and then he meets this woman.
- 18:55Speaker 1: I just like what. I just don't get why he
- 18:59Speaker 1: would turn it down. It doesn't make any sense for
- 19:02Speaker 1: a two week old romance. Yeah no, let's be long distance,
- 19:06Speaker 1: let's you know, let's figure it out. It's not happen, Like,
- 19:10Speaker 1: maybe it isn't what you want, but give it a try, right,
- 19:13Speaker 1: But it was also like it wasn't like Robbie desperately
- 19:16Speaker 1: needed some father figure in his life, you know, because
- 19:19Speaker 1: his mom was like too busy for him, or and
- 19:22Speaker 1: then he was gonna fill that role or yeah, he
- 19:25Speaker 1: had his full life of people who loved him. Yeah,
- 19:29Speaker 1: it just didn't make any sense to me, and it
- 19:32Speaker 1: kind of made me mad. Actually yeah me too, me too.
- 19:35Speaker 1: I was like when he comes, when he says that
- 19:37Speaker 1: I was disappointed. I wanted more from you, Adam. I
- 19:42Speaker 1: don't know why, but I feel like Adam's character should
- 19:44Speaker 1: have been named Robbie and Robbie's character should have been
- 19:46Speaker 1: named Adam. But oh yeah why sah, I don't know,
- 19:49Speaker 1: but in my mind, Robbie is the adult I have
- 19:51Speaker 1: to stop myself every single time.
- 19:54Speaker 2: Well, I one of my other wishes is I feel
- 19:57Speaker 2: like I needed more Lucy. I. You know, we got selfless,
- 20:03Speaker 2: single mom holding it together, and I get that. I
- 20:08Speaker 2: get it, trust me, I get it. But like, let
- 20:11Speaker 2: her be funny, let her be messy, Like give her
- 20:14Speaker 2: some sort of life that isn't just fixing everybody's issues
- 20:19Speaker 2: or problems.
- 20:20Speaker 1: Yeah, we don't really get to see her outside of
- 20:23Speaker 1: her relationship with Robbie or Adam. Yeah, I think she
- 20:27Speaker 1: deserved her own story, really, and one that wasn't made
- 20:31Speaker 1: to support Adam's growth as of yes, you know, safenin
- 20:36Speaker 1: or whatever. My only other wish to editional. What I've
- 20:39Speaker 1: already talked about is, yes, we need more feel good
- 20:42Speaker 1: stories on the news, But I feel like the level
- 20:45Speaker 1: to which we got pushback around the holidays from the
- 20:48Speaker 1: producer was a little unbelievable. Like the potential for a
- 20:53Speaker 1: viral story like that Christmas tree one where people are
- 20:55Speaker 1: all in on solving this mystery, Yeah, that's gonna drive viewers.
- 21:01Speaker 1: So I just thought it was a little bit unbelievable
- 21:04Speaker 1: that they were like, we cannot talk about anything good
- 21:06Speaker 1: on the news during the holidays at all, and that
- 21:09Speaker 1: Adam had to go rogue in order to tell these stories.
- 21:12Speaker 1: The news producer Matthew James Dowden, who every time I
- 21:17Speaker 1: see him it feels like he reinvents himself. I don't
- 21:20Speaker 1: know why. It feels like a completely new person in
- 21:22Speaker 1: every cast. But he wasn't evil, Like they had this
- 21:25Speaker 1: great relationship, so putting him in this position to make
- 21:29Speaker 1: kind of like big evil corporate decisions felt flow off
- 21:33Speaker 1: to me. Yeah. Yeah, I'm almost tempted to watch the
- 21:37Speaker 1: local news tonight to see you if there's like a
- 21:40Speaker 1: feel good human interest story in it, you know, because
- 21:43Speaker 1: think about like People magazine, right, there's always a feel
- 21:46Speaker 1: good human interest story, but there's always a murdery story
- 21:49Speaker 1: in there too, and celebrity news. So hmm, like, give
- 21:56Speaker 1: me both. I think I need both. I'd be curious
- 21:59Speaker 1: to see which people are clicking more online, which of
- 22:02Speaker 1: those stories gets more? Yeah, that's interesting, that's interesting. I'm
- 22:07Speaker 1: gonna report back. I'm gonna turn on the channel, the
- 22:09Speaker 1: Channel five news whatever, whatever the local news is tonight
- 22:13Speaker 1: at five o'clock. I'm sure it's gonna be all politics stuff,
- 22:16Speaker 1: but I'm curious. Okay, okay, let's talk to you to
- 22:20Speaker 1: see that the product placements are back. Thrive Net THRIVNT
- 22:25Speaker 1: I think is what it is. Oh, is that what
- 22:27Speaker 1: it's called? Thrivnt? You're right, you're right, thrivnant. Look, it
- 22:30Speaker 1: wasn't King's Hawaiian level. KOs wasn't quite as clunky, but
- 22:34Speaker 1: it was there. I always think. I was like, hot, Dan,
- 22:37Speaker 1: does Hallmark have a sponsor for every movie this season?
- 22:40Speaker 1: At least this weekend? I was like, somebody in the
- 22:43Speaker 1: marketing department is going to get a raise because they
- 22:47Speaker 1: have been pounding the pavement for those sponsorship deals. They're like,
- 22:51Speaker 1: we didn't have the money for forty two movies, but
- 22:54Speaker 1: this is how we're finding it.
- 22:55Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I didn't think it was as bad. We
- 23:00Speaker 2: got the close up on the ornament and then like
- 23:02Speaker 2: a little bit of a banner in the background.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Well, and when he goes to talk to the Angel
- 23:07Speaker 1: Gifts lady, she does like the straight up like infommercial four.
- 23:12Speaker 1: She's like, well, I had the idea, and I went
- 23:14Speaker 1: to Thrive INT and they made it happen right exactly.
- 23:18Speaker 1: And I believe there you probably didn't watch this live.
- 23:20Speaker 1: I watched why I streamed it unfriendly. So there were commercials,
- 23:25Speaker 1: and there were what's it called Thrivant there were Thrive
- 23:28Speaker 1: VNT commercials.
- 23:29Speaker 2: Yeah, that too, which I was kind of surprised. I
- 23:33Speaker 2: don't know if I've ever really noticed that before. If
- 23:36Speaker 2: if like there was a King's Hawaiian Rules commercial, well.
- 23:39Speaker 1: That's a good question. But I feel like in product
- 23:41Speaker 1: placement in the past, like I've seen like they'll open
- 23:44Speaker 1: the refrigerator and you'll see like the Daisy sour cream
- 23:47Speaker 1: container and they won't even talk about it, but they
- 23:49Speaker 1: might like take it out and use it, but they're
- 23:50Speaker 1: not like do a doll but Daisy in the movie,
- 23:54Speaker 1: and then in the commercial break, we'll then see a
- 23:57Speaker 1: daisy commercial. But you are correct. I watched this on
- 24:00Speaker 1: homework plus, so I didn't see commercials. Do you have
- 24:03Speaker 1: any other digit? See that? Just one? There's a snowman
- 24:07Speaker 1: in front of Robbie and Lucy's house when Adam comes
- 24:09Speaker 1: over to return the notebook, and the snowman is so
- 24:12Speaker 1: perfectly round each one of his body parts. It's like, oh,
- 24:15Speaker 1: Adam like stops and looks at it, like, oh, look
- 24:17Speaker 1: a snowman and it's perfectly round, like styrofoam ball round. Oh, fake,
- 24:23Speaker 1: fake snowman. Quite I have two digit? See that? Okay?
- 24:28Speaker 1: One is remember we we have Lucy. She goes into
- 24:32Speaker 1: her hair salon and she turns off the news. She's like, nope,
- 24:34Speaker 1: can't do this today. And Adam was the anchor at
- 24:37Speaker 1: the time. Yes, I thought about this as well. But
- 24:40Speaker 1: then we also see him doing like the evening news
- 24:44Speaker 1: as well. Is this man working twenty four hours a day,
- 24:47Speaker 1: twelve hours a day like morning and evening. I wondered
- 24:51Speaker 1: the same thing, like, I don't understand that's not how
- 24:54Speaker 1: it this works, how it works.
- 24:57Speaker 2: Also, this is the second movie this season, drop and
- 25:00Speaker 2: Era's tour reference Like, okay, it's fine, Like I get it.
- 25:05Speaker 2: It's fine because when the writers are writing these movies,
- 25:08Speaker 2: I'm sure that was like the biggest thing like last
- 25:10Speaker 2: year around this time, right, But I'm like, is Hallmark
- 25:14Speaker 2: leaning too hard into Taylor Swift as this like cultural
- 25:18Speaker 2: touchstone like we're marking time?
- 25:22Speaker 1: Yeah? Interesting, It's just it's weird to me, and and
- 25:27Speaker 1: it's not weird to me like one time, but two
- 25:30Speaker 1: times is too much. I know.
- 25:34Speaker 2: You would think like there would be some sort of
- 25:36Speaker 2: like over look, I'm making jobs up in my head book,
- 25:39Speaker 2: somebody who like oversees every script, and it was like,
- 25:43Speaker 2: you know what, there was a Taylor Swift reference in
- 25:45Speaker 2: that movie and also in this movie, and maybe that
- 25:47Speaker 2: should be changed.
- 25:49Speaker 1: I got you Savannah banianas tickets.
- 25:51Speaker 2: Yes, I wonder if that is that big enough, Like
- 25:55Speaker 2: does that hit like the Canadians would they understand who
- 25:59Speaker 2: the Savannah Baniana?
- 26:00Speaker 1: I don't know Canadians way in do you know the
- 26:03Speaker 1: Slavanna Banana or do you use I'm like trying to
- 26:06Speaker 1: think of like another musical artist that could be big enough,
- 26:11Speaker 1: but not Taylor Swift big enough. Justin Bieber, I don't
- 26:17Speaker 1: know Canadians know who Justin Bieber is really got our
- 26:23Speaker 1: finger on the pulse of the pop cultures. I guess
- 26:25Speaker 1: over here is headlighting Coach Halla next year, so he's
- 26:30Speaker 1: doing some things. Sure I don't. Yes, anyway, that was
- 26:38Speaker 1: my all my digit see thats hey, what did you
- 26:40Speaker 1: rate tidings for this season? I gave it three stars.
