- 0:19Speaker 1: Alina Suarez who specializes in hair hanging, dancing and actress.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Of course, but you've been doing this since you were
- 0:27Speaker 1: a kid, that's.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Correct, I do acrobatics India suspended by my sir.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, I've always wondered how how much practice does
- 0:37Speaker 1: that require in order for you to have won the
- 0:39Speaker 1: confidence to do it but also not be like we're
- 0:42Speaker 1: it hurts how it doesn't hurt?
- 0:44Speaker 2: Well, you know, I mean what we do is dangerous.
- 0:46Speaker 2: That our preparation is made in our safe way. We
- 0:51Speaker 2: prepare our hair, like we need around twenty twenty five
- 0:54Speaker 2: minutes to prepare our hair, and then there's a lot
- 0:58Speaker 2: of training out of the show to make sure that
- 1:00Speaker 2: we are in good condition, you know, like you don't
- 1:02Speaker 2: get injured and all this. So I would say, yeah,
- 1:06Speaker 2: it's a lot of preparation, a lot of training behind
- 1:09Speaker 2: the scenes. So yeah, it's part of our job. You know,
- 1:13Speaker 2: it's important to make sure that we are good to
- 1:16Speaker 2: do all the shows that we do.
- 1:18Speaker 1: What is the rehearsal and the schedule, Like when you
- 1:20Speaker 1: have shows back to back.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Like that, Well, like today, for example, we have the premiere,
- 1:25Speaker 2: but we have a big day. We have rehearsals on training,
- 1:29Speaker 2: we are working on details to bring the best on
- 1:32Speaker 2: a stage. But once we open, it's more just to
- 1:35Speaker 2: do our shows. Like there is plenty of shows to
- 1:39Speaker 2: come see us, like this weekend we have three shows
- 1:42Speaker 2: on the three shows on Sunday, so there's many options
- 1:47Speaker 2: for the audience to come to see the show. But yeah,
- 1:50Speaker 2: we also have as a s playing we have a
- 1:53Speaker 2: lot of training out of the show also by ourselves,
- 1:56Speaker 2: you know, like we go to the gym, we do conditioning,
- 2:00Speaker 2: make sure that you know, we don't get injured and
- 2:02Speaker 2: we are in top shape for the show.
- 2:04Speaker 1: How did it come about that you join the cast
- 2:07Speaker 1: of Twas the Night before Christmas? Like? What inspired that?
- 2:10Speaker 2: Well, this show is very beautiful and special. I love
- 2:14Speaker 2: to perform for families, for kids. It's a very special
- 2:18Speaker 2: opportunity for artists to connect with the with this beautiful audience.
- 2:24Speaker 2: But also the show is an incredible show because it
- 2:28Speaker 2: has a lot of acrobatics and dance. So for me
- 2:31Speaker 2: it was like it was a good opportunity to to
- 2:36Speaker 2: work in this show. I love My act is very
- 2:40Speaker 2: beautiful and the full show is based on the poem
- 2:44Speaker 2: of a Bysit to Sam Nicholas, So it's a very
- 2:48Speaker 2: popular poem here in the United States and people love
- 2:53Speaker 2: to see the show and house. It was based in
- 2:57Speaker 2: this poem and brought to like this story of the
- 3:02Speaker 2: young girl that rediscovers the magic of the holidays. So
- 3:06Speaker 2: not only is the acrobatics and you know, all the
- 3:10Speaker 2: high level acts that we have, but also like it's
- 3:14Speaker 2: very poetic and it's a beautiful story for the Christmas.
- 3:17Speaker 1: I love this because it's bringing quality time for families
- 3:20Speaker 1: together because it really is for all ages, like it's
- 3:23Speaker 1: something for everyone, right.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that's what I was saying. I think it's
- 3:28Speaker 2: a beautiful show because it's for all the family, and
- 3:32Speaker 2: it's so beautiful to see the phases of the kids,
- 3:35Speaker 2: you know, and sometimes I'm flying and I can hear
- 3:39Speaker 2: like wow, so that's very spec you know, it's yeah
- 3:43Speaker 2: for us It's like I love that. I love those
- 3:46Speaker 2: reactions from kids.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Does that energize you as a dancer and performer to
- 3:51Speaker 1: hear the crowd reacting.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, I've been performing for a long time now,
- 3:56Speaker 2: but every time that this thing happens, they fill my
- 4:00Speaker 2: hard you know, like that's the reason why we do
- 4:03Speaker 2: what we do. Is not only because we love to
- 4:07Speaker 2: do these acrobatics. It's also what we can express and
- 4:11Speaker 2: how we can touch the heart of the people. You know,
- 4:14Speaker 2: and especially like a holiday show like this that bring
- 4:18Speaker 2: the family together. I think it's a very special occasion.
- 4:22Speaker 2: I love that.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Twas the night before Christmas at Deepak performing until December fifteenth,
- 4:27Speaker 1: So get your tickets dpagnc dot com. Are you going
- 4:30Speaker 1: to be all for the holidays or you're going to
- 4:31Speaker 1: get to travel home to spend time with family, or
- 4:34Speaker 1: you'll still be on the road.
- 4:35Speaker 2: We will be performing, but I'm happy. I'm happy to
- 4:39Speaker 2: do that, you know. I love to make the holidays
- 4:44Speaker 2: of everyone that comes to see us a special and
- 4:48Speaker 2: like to have a special memory. Of course, I need
- 4:53Speaker 2: to be with my family, but I will deal with
- 4:55Speaker 2: them after the holidays, So I'm happy to be here exactly.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Okay, so tell us a fun fact. So everybody when
- 5:02Speaker 1: they come to see on stage, theyn't know a fun
- 5:04Speaker 1: fact about you that maybe not everyone knows.
- 5:07Speaker 2: A fun fuck like a favorite food.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Or is there a holiday tradition that you always try
- 5:12Speaker 1: to do.
- 5:13Speaker 2: Well, maybe it's not that fun, but I have some
- 5:18Speaker 2: biggies in my feet always that keep me warm. They're
- 5:24Speaker 2: famous because they come with me everywhere. They have a
- 5:27Speaker 2: space in the back of stage. When I go to
- 5:29Speaker 2: the stage, they put them in a special place and
- 5:34Speaker 2: I try to be warm always. So back at stage,
- 5:37Speaker 2: I'm not very glamorous. I'm always like with a lot
- 5:40Speaker 2: of players and coats and you know. But yeah, I
- 5:44Speaker 2: would say my biggies they are famous wherever I go.
- 5:47Speaker 1: I love that. That's super fun fact to know. And
- 5:50Speaker 1: people can visualize that now that they're seeing you on
- 5:52Speaker 1: the stage. All right, So any holiday tradition that you've
- 5:55Speaker 1: always had throughout your life.
- 5:56Speaker 2: Well, I come from Spain. We have a lot of
- 5:58Speaker 2: traditions for Christmas. You know, we eat twelfth grades on
- 6:03Speaker 2: New Year and definitely I need that moment. But I
- 6:07Speaker 2: try to do a phone call with my loved once
- 6:10Speaker 2: and I do it every year, even if it's six
- 6:14Speaker 2: hours in advance, you know, so I try to keep
- 6:18Speaker 2: that tradition even if I'm traveling around the world.
- 6:21Speaker 1: I love that we are so excited to have you
- 6:23Speaker 1: here in Durham and can't wait to see you on
