- 0:00Speaker 1: Lisa, do you want to be best friends? Gosh, this
- 0:03Speaker 1: is all happening so fast.
- 0:05Speaker 2: I don't know what to say, so yes, so yes,
- 0:08Speaker 2: I loved you. Whoa good night, Lisa, I have a
- 0:16Speaker 2: best friend. You heard me say that, didn't you?
- 0:20Speaker 1: I did.
- 0:20Speaker 2: We're still cool, all right? We are? My best friend
- 0:23Speaker 2: is so cool? Four finger discount dude.
- 0:43Speaker 1: Welcome to four figure discount. Why this week we're here
- 0:45Speaker 1: to review a confusing episode of the Simpsons. It is
- 0:49Speaker 1: not Lisa the beauty Queen. It is Lisa the drama Queen.
- 0:52Speaker 2: I'm Dando and I'm guy, and much like this episode,
- 0:55Speaker 2: I am confused and confusing that Lisa the drama Queen
- 0:59Speaker 2: wa all over the place, and not in a good way.
- 1:04Speaker 1: Well, I watched this right and we got a good
- 1:07Speaker 1: ten minutes into it, and I just had in my notes,
- 1:10Speaker 1: I don't exactly know what I'm watching, what the point
- 1:13Speaker 1: of this is. It just feels so boring. I can imagine.
- 1:17Speaker 1: But what I try to do now when I do
- 1:18Speaker 1: reviews is I imagine myself watching it. And also if Elliott
- 1:21Speaker 1: were watching this, because it seems it's supposed to be
- 1:23Speaker 1: for adults and for kids. Sure, and I'm finding more
- 1:25Speaker 1: and more recently it seems to be the rise of
- 1:27Speaker 1: write the show for themselves, not necessarily the kids watching
- 1:29Speaker 1: the show right, And I'm thinking Elliott would find this
- 1:32Speaker 1: so boring. There is just nothing here. This Juliet character
- 1:36Speaker 1: has just come out of absolutely nowhere. Emily Blunt apparently
- 1:40Speaker 1: did the voice, which I was very surprised by. I was, indeed,
- 1:43Speaker 1: I'm just going, who is this voice? Like, what is
- 1:46Speaker 1: this accent? It just is British, so she is.
- 1:49Speaker 2: But this is not Emily Blunt's usual voice.
- 1:51Speaker 1: No, this sounded like a Simpsons cast. Mean, we're trying
- 1:54Speaker 1: to do a British accent, I thought. And I'm watching
- 1:56Speaker 1: this going I can't get emotionally invested in this. And
- 1:59Speaker 1: what I what I've sort of realized is I think
- 2:02Speaker 1: the reason I was getting baffled and not annoyed but
- 2:05Speaker 1: just confused, was that I think they rushed the story
- 2:08Speaker 1: too much, and they expected you to have all this
- 2:09Speaker 1: emotional investment. At least they're having a new best friend.
- 2:13Speaker 1: It was happening too fast. They kept and they kept
- 2:14Speaker 1: beinging up, this is happening so fast, This is happening
- 2:16Speaker 1: so fast. That was their crush of saying we're rushing
- 2:19Speaker 1: this story.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Yeah, or an alternative way of looking at that is
- 2:25Speaker 2: that first rush of sort of platonic love that can
- 2:29Speaker 2: almost have an aspect of romantic love to it. Ah
- 2:34Speaker 2: and yeah, a feeling like, Wow, I've found someone who's
- 2:37Speaker 2: very in sync with me, very sympatico. It's that stepbrother's line, Wow,
- 2:43Speaker 2: did we just become best friend?
- 2:44Speaker 1: Yep, well best friend's romantic friend. That first realization is
- 2:49Speaker 1: very special, it certainly. I mean.
- 2:51Speaker 2: One of the notes that I took about this, and
- 2:53Speaker 2: it was early on, maybe around the same time that
- 2:55Speaker 2: you're thinking of, and that I think sort of was
- 2:59Speaker 2: the core of the episode was it's always nice when
- 3:02Speaker 2: you discover someone into the same shit as you. And
- 3:05Speaker 2: this I'm going way back in the time there, but
- 3:08Speaker 2: particularly in the pre Enginet era, you know. I mean,
- 3:10Speaker 2: one of the first things that you know, we really
- 3:12Speaker 2: enjoyed about the net when it came online was like,
- 3:15Speaker 2: wait a minute, you like Blade Runner as well. I mean,
- 3:18Speaker 2: that's a really sort of weird example to use because
- 3:21Speaker 2: a lot of people like Blade Running, but you know,
- 3:23Speaker 2: for a while, and particularly if you're in not necessarily
- 3:27Speaker 2: in a big city or something like that, to discover.
- 3:29Speaker 2: It's like, oh, wait a minute, there are people into
- 3:31Speaker 2: the same shit that I am. And but when you
- 3:32Speaker 2: meet someone like that in the wild. I've told this
- 3:35Speaker 2: story before about you know, one night I was out
- 3:37Speaker 2: at the nightclub just talking to some dude and we
- 3:38Speaker 2: started talking about movies.
- 3:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:40Speaker 2: Yeah, it started talking about stuff that I thought was
- 3:42Speaker 2: like fucking Ark of the Covenant. No one's ever heard
- 3:45Speaker 2: of this shit. And he's like, oh no, that's a
- 3:47Speaker 2: really great movie. You know what, else as good as
- 3:48Speaker 2: this guy?
- 3:49Speaker 1: It is really good, you know what.
- 3:51Speaker 2: No, it's like that meme where the guy in the
- 3:53Speaker 2: corner said nobody knows that I'm such and such and
- 3:56Speaker 2: while everyone's just having a party. But yeah, we ended
- 3:59Speaker 2: up talking about movies, and I was like, that's kind
- 4:02Speaker 2: of what this felt like. It's like, wow, am I
- 4:04Speaker 2: getting drunk not just off the booze behind the bar,
- 4:06Speaker 2: but on this guy's company whose name I don't remember,
- 4:09Speaker 2: who I never saw.
- 4:10Speaker 1: Again, but you remember him forever? Oh yeah, I.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Remember him because just a bad feeling of like, wait
- 4:17Speaker 2: a minute, you like this as well? Or wow, we're
- 4:19Speaker 2: talking the same language in a room full of people
- 4:21Speaker 2: who are who are not predator.
- 4:23Speaker 1: It was the same as when you go on a
- 4:24Speaker 1: holiday with your family and a caravan parking is a
- 4:27Speaker 1: kid that you just make friends with, and you go,
- 4:29Speaker 1: I know, we're never going to see each other after
- 4:30Speaker 1: this trip, but you're best friends forever. Yeah, oh yeah.
- 4:34Speaker 1: What do they call it in.
- 4:36Speaker 2: Fire club? Single serving friends? When you're next to some
- 4:38Speaker 2: person on a plane and you I'm having a perfectly
- 4:41Speaker 2: nice conversation.
- 4:42Speaker 1: Well, yeah, yeah, that's exactly it. But this is based
- 4:44Speaker 1: on a film. It is based on a film.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Yeah, it's drawing inspiration from a film called Heavenly Creatures
- 4:48Speaker 2: from I think nineteen ninety four.
- 4:49Speaker 1: It's apparently Kate Winslet's first film.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Certainly may be the first feature film, maybe not a
- 4:54Speaker 2: first acting role, but also the first definitely the first
- 4:58Speaker 2: film and maybe a first acting role for an actor
- 5:00Speaker 2: named Melanie Lynsky, who is quite well known these days.
- 5:03Speaker 2: She's on Yellow JACKETSSS.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Kate When's in their feature film debut? Feature film debut.
- 5:07Speaker 2: I think Kate wins would have been on a bit
- 5:08Speaker 2: of English TV prior to this, but this really.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Made her a star.
- 5:12Speaker 2: But yeah, it's written and directed by Peter Jackson of
- 5:17Speaker 2: the Lord of the Lord of the Rings fame.
- 5:19Speaker 1: For me though as a nineties kid, when you say
- 5:21Speaker 1: Peter Jackson, it's not meanly get lord. No, no, you
- 5:24Speaker 1: Peter Jackson. Peter Jackson. Is he like a big and
- 5:27Speaker 1: tall like the actual director Peter Jackson.
- 5:30Speaker 2: No, no, no, like like I don't know clothing, I
- 5:33Speaker 2: have no idea for Peter Jackson. Yeah, I was wondering
- 5:37Speaker 2: who it was, like Fletcher Giants is like quality men's tailoring, ye,
- 5:40Speaker 2: or if it was like, hey for the for the
- 5:42Speaker 2: slightly bigger dude, you for husky dudes.
- 5:44Speaker 1: I thought Peter Jackson reminds me of kind of like
- 5:46Speaker 1: a country road kind of via Peter Jackson.
- 5:48Speaker 2: I'll get where you're coming from.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Not not target, but also not yes fancy fancy not
- 5:54Speaker 1: fancy pants. Yes, you can't get fancy pants. You can't
- 5:56Speaker 1: get fancy pants anyway.
- 5:57Speaker 2: But Heavenly Creatures is based on the true story about
- 6:00Speaker 2: these two young women I believe in New Zealand who yeah,
- 6:04Speaker 2: per formed this very tired bond. Yeah, with the best
- 6:07Speaker 2: of friends, maybe even lovers, who knows.
- 6:09Speaker 1: But I was wondering whether that this story was going
- 6:12Speaker 1: to get interesting go down that one much is going.
- 6:15Speaker 1: I'm thinking in my head, this is either going to
- 6:18Speaker 1: be this Juliet is imaginary, or they're going to fall
- 6:20Speaker 1: in love and LEAs gonna have her first lesbian sort
- 6:22Speaker 1: of feelings. Didn't do either. It's very disappointed.
- 6:28Speaker 2: It's from YSA storyline.
- 6:31Speaker 1: I'll give you the Google description. Basically, it's just teenagers,
- 6:33Speaker 1: Pauline and Juliet. Oh so Juliet's the same, yeah name
- 6:36Speaker 1: all right, bond over a love of fantasy and literature.
- 6:39Speaker 1: They conspire to kill one of the girls mothers when
- 6:41Speaker 1: he tries to end the girl's intense and obsessive relationship. Okay,
- 6:45Speaker 1: so now it makes sense knowing that. Yeah, still, what
- 6:49Speaker 1: an odd thing to parody.
- 6:51Speaker 2: It's an odd thing to parody because look, it was
- 6:53Speaker 2: a well regarded movie at the time, and I think
- 6:56Speaker 2: it's sort of Peter Jackson before this was Knownver is
- 6:58Speaker 2: really sort of gory, splatstick horror movies.
- 7:02Speaker 1: It was the Muppet one he did The Feeble Feebles
- 7:05Speaker 1: and The Bad Taste, The Taste Come.
- 7:08Speaker 2: Under and one either called brain Dead or Dead Alive.
- 7:11Speaker 1: Dead a life great, incredibly gory.
- 7:14Speaker 2: And this is kind of oh no, he can handle
- 7:15Speaker 2: things in a bit more of a serious vein can
- 7:17Speaker 2: work with act as well. Yeah, give him a lot
- 7:20Speaker 2: of the rings.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I think they were when they start production in
- 7:24Speaker 1: those films would have been late nineties.
- 7:26Speaker 2: Like ninety nine or something like that.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:28Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, eight. But he made
- 7:32Speaker 2: his way. I mean this was I think Heavenly Creatures
- 7:34Speaker 2: was distributed by Miramax, so I think it probably got
- 7:37Speaker 2: an Oscar.
- 7:38Speaker 1: For New Zealand. Film. Yeah.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Biographical, good movie, yeah, yeah, but as you're saying, an
- 7:45Speaker 2: odd choice to parody because it's not necessarily that well
- 7:48Speaker 2: known and the storyline doesn't really lend itself to a
- 7:51Speaker 2: half hour animated comedy. But that core idea, as I said,
- 7:56Speaker 2: of finding someone that you're very, very in sync with
- 7:58Speaker 2: and instantly becoming best brands, even though the foundation of
- 8:02Speaker 2: that is kind of Yeah, this weird fantasy world that
- 8:05Speaker 2: they create and bond over and we create together and
- 8:08Speaker 2: bond over and almost become consumed by.
- 8:12Speaker 1: It got old so fast, it really did.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Yeah, and they couldn't find a way to resolve that.
- 8:17Speaker 2: Now it will turn it into anything all that interesting.
- 8:19Speaker 1: I'm watching this going, is this just the animators just
- 8:21Speaker 1: trying to show off their animating skills.
- 8:23Speaker 2: What a little Yeah, and otherwise it was just sort
- 8:27Speaker 2: of playing their hits as well. I mean, you've got
- 8:29Speaker 2: Juliette's family are a bit like the whole Jeremy's Iron thing.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I was going to say Allison's family. Allison. Yeah,
- 8:36Speaker 1: that was literally exactly what I was thinking as well. Yeah,
- 8:38Speaker 1: I watched I saw a good theory about Allison. By
- 8:40Speaker 1: the way, so Allison, right, Lisa's Rival. The episode is
- 8:44Speaker 1: called Lisa's Rival. That's when I'm a writer, right, a writer. Right.
- 8:48Speaker 1: So she comes home and they're playing the game, and
- 8:50Speaker 1: the theory was do you think that this was a
- 8:53Speaker 1: setup by that dad and Alison to fuck over Lisa?
- 8:57Speaker 2: Yeah, either a test to be like, yeah, I mean
- 8:59Speaker 2: this is fun and games is like can you cut
- 9:01Speaker 2: it in our house?
- 9:03Speaker 1: Not even it? Can you cut it? They make themselves
- 9:05Speaker 1: feel better. Yeah, apparently Jeremy Iron. The only real thing
- 9:08Speaker 1: you can do is Jeremy's Iron. Jeremy Irons, Jeremy's Iron.
- 9:11Speaker 1: They gave her a ship one deliberately just to make
- 9:13Speaker 1: her feel stupid because this is like this chickens store. Okay,
- 9:15Speaker 1: so this girl's gone.
- 9:16Speaker 2: There's many many times and they've always.
- 9:18Speaker 1: Just yeah, whenever someone's on her level, they bring it
- 9:20Speaker 1: home and they bring them down.
- 9:21Speaker 2: He's always going to say, all right, give me an
- 9:24Speaker 2: anagram for Allgannis genuine class.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I remember that, or Jeremy Irons, and it's always
- 9:30Speaker 1: yeah nothing. I thought, that's actually a bit of a
- 9:32Speaker 1: heel tend that I never really thought about. Interesting.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Interesting, it's more interesting than this episode. Yeah, yeah, we're
- 9:37Speaker 2: talking about it because yeah, there's not a whole lot
- 9:39Speaker 2: else in this.
- 9:40Speaker 1: And but as a parody, it's as a parody, it's fine, yeah, yes,
- 9:44Speaker 1: but it's just pointless the traditional guy.
- 9:48Speaker 2: It's fine, okay, but there's other stuff in here that's
- 9:52Speaker 2: This felt like a really mean spirited episode.
- 9:54Speaker 1: My notes to on going why is everyone angry? Because
- 9:58Speaker 1: I feel like that for a while there and the
- 10:01Speaker 1: Simpsons everyone was always angry, bitter, and they've kind of
- 10:04Speaker 1: shifted a little more positive in recent times. This episode
- 10:08Speaker 1: was a holdover from last season, but also the writer
- 10:10Speaker 1: of this episode was Brian Kelly. He hadn't written an
- 10:12Speaker 1: episode for five seasons, so maybe he was still stuck
- 10:15Speaker 1: in that season fifteen mentality of Homer's a buffoon jerk
- 10:19Speaker 1: wanker and everyone's angry in Springfield because Homer was just deplorable.
- 10:24Speaker 1: In this felt like everyone was yeah, everyone was not
- 10:28Speaker 1: everyone everyone is mean in Springfield? Why is everybody mean?
- 10:32Speaker 2: I'm just recalling a sitting from a recent episode that
- 10:35Speaker 2: we covered where you've got squeaky boys teen lou up
- 10:39Speaker 2: your car, Governor, but he's doing in the English accident
- 10:41Speaker 2: the guy will buss it, don't touch me. That's the
- 10:43Speaker 2: kind of anti social attitude that I know. I kind
- 10:47Speaker 2: of like in The Simpsons, where it's not people are
- 10:49Speaker 2: just angry, but people are kind of like, I just
- 10:50Speaker 2: want to get through my day.
- 10:51Speaker 1: Man. Even like Bart's trying to help Lisa pick out
- 10:53Speaker 1: something and she's berating him for it, and he points out,
- 10:56Speaker 1: I'm just trying to help you ask for my hop
- 10:58Speaker 1: and I'm given it to you. And because that's not
- 10:59Speaker 1: what you what you're yelling at me, I'm thinking, no
- 11:02Speaker 1: one is nice. March is nice. Yeah, Marche has just
- 11:05Speaker 1: become a punching bag. I hope it was so passionizing
- 11:09Speaker 1: and rude to March here with the point where she
- 11:11Speaker 1: says something in home and copies and he goes, if
- 11:13Speaker 1: you say so, March. If you say so, if you
- 11:15Speaker 1: said at first, that's that's fine, making it just gaslighting you.
- 11:18Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, not a not a good episode.
- 11:22Speaker 1: No, this wasn't this wasn't good this. Yeah.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Well, I think we were trying to accentuate the positive
- 11:27Speaker 2: here and look, sorry that was.
- 11:29Speaker 1: A lost cause. And just to wrap up the juliet
- 11:32Speaker 1: saying oh cuckoo, I'm thinking, oh okay, yeah, that's it.
- 11:36Speaker 1: She's gone, never gonna see her again, family moves away
- 11:38Speaker 1: now never no history there, that's it.
- 11:40Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, right yourself, a little escape patch in
- 11:43Speaker 2: there about oh my dad is on like a six
- 11:46Speaker 2: month contract or whatever, so oh now time is limited,
- 11:49Speaker 2: and oh we've got to embrace these moments that we
- 11:51Speaker 2: have together. And that gives you justifies the intensity of
- 11:55Speaker 2: this relationship. You know that it's going to be short lived,
- 11:57Speaker 2: and then you're really, oh, wait a minute, well in nuts,
- 12:00Speaker 2: but they're not going to be here for that long anyway,
- 12:02Speaker 2: so that's all right.
- 12:03Speaker 1: I don't know how Heavenly Creatures plays out, but I
- 12:05Speaker 1: think there would have been more and more interesting story
- 12:08Speaker 1: for this would have been that Lisa's enjoying Juliette's company
- 12:11Speaker 1: and then she gets to a point where she realized
- 12:13Speaker 1: meant juliet is a bit obsessed with this book. I
- 12:14Speaker 1: need to get out. But then Juliette will allow her,
- 12:17Speaker 1: and then she needs Marge's help to actually so, because
- 12:21Speaker 1: she because there was a point where she's so rude
- 12:23Speaker 1: to Marge where she goes, it's best if you don't
- 12:25Speaker 1: try and be a part of my life, Mum, March,
- 12:27Speaker 1: as I'm just trying to be involved in it's best
- 12:29Speaker 1: if you don't, And there was there was no there
- 12:32Speaker 1: was no call back to that.
- 12:33Speaker 2: Yeah, well that's yeah, clearly I think that's drawing too
- 12:36Speaker 2: much or drawing heavily from heavenly.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Creatures in that regard. But in the Simpsons University, you
- 12:41Speaker 1: can't just have Lisa be a rude to March and
- 12:43Speaker 1: not have her apologized for it. It's just silliness. It
- 12:47Speaker 1: needs to be Lisa saying, like, draw upon heavenly creatures,
- 12:51Speaker 1: but use the Simpsons spin, you don't have to follow
- 12:53Speaker 1: the same. So. I don't know how the movie plays out,
- 12:55Speaker 1: but this, to me needed Marge to be the one
- 12:58Speaker 1: who Lisa realizes is most important and brings her back.
- 13:04Speaker 1: My favorite Did you have any favorite moments?
- 13:07Speaker 2: I had like I had three, one of which was
- 13:11Speaker 2: I was surprised to this couver that was Emily Blunt,
- 13:13Speaker 2: who's an actor that I like. I initially thought, yeah,
- 13:16Speaker 2: much like it was like, yeah, they just got a
- 13:17Speaker 2: coustmember doing a weird and when I say weird, I
- 13:21Speaker 2: don't mean necessarily bed. It's like, this is least seem
- 13:23Speaker 2: like an odd choice.
- 13:24Speaker 1: This voice. It didn't feel like an English acts. It
- 13:27Speaker 1: felt like an American being an englishman. Yeah, it was so.
- 13:31Speaker 2: But props to Emily Blunt for not just because she's
- 13:33Speaker 2: got a lovely speaking boys. Props to her for actually
- 13:36Speaker 2: sort of doing a character or doing a bit.
- 13:39Speaker 1: So, hey, it's English actress Emily Blunt. Yeah she's married
- 13:43Speaker 1: to John Christian. Yeah John, Yeah. Home is mostly terrible,
- 13:50Speaker 1: But I did enjoy him saying at do we find
- 13:54Speaker 1: Juliet's last name or the professor's last name? I can't
- 13:56Speaker 1: remember anyway at their house, like where's your bathroom? I'd
- 14:00Speaker 1: like to pretend to wash my hand. Do you like that?
- 14:02Speaker 1: I'd like to pretend to wash my hands. That I
- 14:05Speaker 1: thought that was quite I'm just watching this going, why
- 14:08Speaker 1: is Homer such a fuckhead? I just watched it. I'm
- 14:11Speaker 1: just thinking Homer is just despicable.
- 14:15Speaker 2: It just it speaks to class insecurity and you know,
- 14:19Speaker 2: oh I better be seen to be trying to do
- 14:23Speaker 2: the right thing.
- 14:24Speaker 1: I thought it was kind of funny, I don't know,
- 14:26Speaker 1: but the fact that he told them I'm not going
- 14:29Speaker 1: to wash my hands. I did not like this version
- 14:33Speaker 1: home in this episode at.
- 14:34Speaker 2: All, And quite honestly, I thought it was a very
- 14:36Speaker 2: good suggestion by a Poo that the you know, I
- 14:39Speaker 2: need a candy that I'm enjoyed and that I can
- 14:42Speaker 2: pretend to share or something like that. Get to one
- 14:45Speaker 2: why Poo was run the show? Yeah, well I have
- 14:49Speaker 2: one moment here, tell me. And it was the bait
- 14:51Speaker 2: and switch where they got me of the bullies arriving.
- 14:53Speaker 2: I thought it was the family and I was literally
- 14:55Speaker 2: typed my notes going as if Marge would know she
- 14:57Speaker 2: was going to be Oh it wasn't Marge. Yeah, I'm sorry. Right,
- 15:01Speaker 2: Brian Kelly, you did this one right, bro Kelly, well
- 15:05Speaker 2: done you. But yeah, they were the only things I liked.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Next question you there Eating the Beast trivia questions. My
- 15:12Speaker 1: first question for you is which track of the Pelican
- 15:15Speaker 1: Brief did Julius Dad, make her play it's strength three.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Researching the brief, I didn't mind that moment as boke
- 15:21Speaker 1: on going. You know what I do? Enjoy me a
- 15:23Speaker 1: good score, as you can.
- 15:25Speaker 2: See here do Dan who knows the score?
- 15:29Speaker 1: Yes, I would buy the Pelican brief score.
- 15:31Speaker 2: Well you probably already know the answer to this. Then,
- 15:33Speaker 2: But who composed that score?
- 15:34Speaker 1: Oh? No, neme. He starts with HD right, short hours
- 15:38Speaker 1: is a hang someone?
- 15:39Speaker 2: No, that's the surname starts with age.
- 15:41Speaker 1: Ah, no, what is it? It's James Horner. James Horner all right?
- 15:44Speaker 2: Indeed, who also composed the music for Titanic? And who
- 15:47Speaker 2: is no law rulers? Ah, that's a shame. James want
- 15:50Speaker 2: to come up with some great scores. Yeah, one of
- 15:52Speaker 2: the best things. So it certainly told this story.
- 15:54Speaker 1: So did he write in a second? Did he write
- 15:56Speaker 1: then my Heart will go on? Because basically it's the
- 15:59Speaker 1: same music.
- 16:00Speaker 2: I don't know if he did. That's a really good
- 16:02Speaker 2: question and we should look it.
- 16:03Speaker 1: Up, because the music of my heart We're going is
- 16:06Speaker 1: of course. Yeah, that's because Jane Cameron knows what he's doing.
- 16:09Speaker 1: He knows what he's doing speaking, and he knows what
- 16:11Speaker 1: he knows what everyone is doing, speaking of movie times,
- 16:13Speaker 1: because we just did we just did Golden Eye, which
- 16:15Speaker 1: wasn't a sometimes a video game tie in? Sure, yeah,
- 16:19Speaker 1: Golden Off for the Movie Guy podcast with Malton and Davis.
- 16:22Speaker 1: What is it called?
- 16:23Speaker 2: Why did I type in Jake's Horner? I don't know
- 16:24Speaker 2: what I'm doing?
- 16:25Speaker 1: What is Jake's Horner? What does it look like? Show
- 16:29Speaker 1: me your horner?
- 16:30Speaker 2: I certainly will not song by James Horner and Will.
- 16:33Speaker 1: Jennings, So okay, yeah it means.
- 16:36Speaker 2: And then Selene came on and just put that particular Canadian.
- 16:38Speaker 1: Source on it. Selen is nicholas favorite singer of all time? Well,
- 16:41Speaker 1: that's her problem. She walked down the aisle to Celendion's arm.
- 16:46Speaker 1: What's the one where it goes because I'm your lady,
- 16:48Speaker 1: you are my man power of love, power of live. Yeah,
- 16:51Speaker 1: that's what Nicola walked down the aisle to it. It's
- 16:53Speaker 1: very sweet. Yeah, she loves this Celindion. That's a very
- 16:56Speaker 1: good thing. All right. My next question for you is
- 16:57Speaker 1: they took a trip to where and which is a
- 17:00Speaker 1: Facebook two weeks in a row, so it's clearly the
- 17:03Speaker 1: writers at the Simpsons around. Hey, it's a new thing
- 17:05Speaker 1: the Facebook. We're better mention it for the kids watching
- 17:07Speaker 1: the show. But it's gonna like their trip to wear
- 17:12Speaker 1: Oh that's a I'll give you a clue, varmit. This
- 17:16Speaker 1: guy likes to shoot Varmin. You're sementy. You're talking about
- 17:21Speaker 1: your seventy Yeah of the the New Tunes cartoons. I
- 17:26Speaker 1: question for you.
- 17:28Speaker 2: Uh, the art teacher is reading a book or magazine
- 17:32Speaker 2: about what no idea sell your junk on eBay? Okay,
- 17:37Speaker 2: this is what we're all doing these days, apparently on
- 17:39Speaker 2: Facebook marketplace. Oh avoid those fees.
- 17:42Speaker 1: Hey, good point, Yeah, seventeen percent and everyone sells something
- 17:45Speaker 1: an eBay.
- 17:46Speaker 2: Thanks, okay, Facebook marketplace. See, we're just like the Simpsons, right,
- 17:50Speaker 2: we're talking about Facebook. Your next question to me.
- 17:53Speaker 1: How much was a shrimp cocktail? Three dollars? Five dollars?
- 17:57Speaker 1: Good guess? Four nine? It's not a good guess?
- 18:00Speaker 2: Was completely incorrect enough, so wrongs. Actually the rec center
- 18:08Speaker 2: is named for whom.
- 18:09Speaker 1: I don't know, and me, Lisa said it, what was it?
- 18:11Speaker 1: I'm assuming it was a joke as well, was it?
- 18:12Speaker 2: That's a good question because I didn't do my research
- 18:15Speaker 2: while watching it. It's Janet L. Muna's Robins. Let's look
- 18:20Speaker 2: up if that's a real person and what they did?
- 18:22Speaker 1: You look at the moment as you're doing that, I'm
- 18:24Speaker 1: going to say that the outro was done by fall
- 18:27Speaker 1: out Boy, who didn't guest star in the episode, but
- 18:29Speaker 1: they did name their band after fall out Boy. Radioactive
- 18:31Speaker 1: Man's assistant who Millhouse plays.
- 18:34Speaker 2: I did notice that, Yeah, also written what's the point
- 18:39Speaker 2: of this.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Ball out Boy track? I guess they are called fallad Boy? Yes,
- 18:46Speaker 1: the first The.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Only thing that comes up is Lisa, the Lisa the
- 18:50Speaker 2: drama queen, So I'm guessing the Janet l Munos the Robins?
- 18:53Speaker 2: Is why am I putting that that? That's sass on
- 18:56Speaker 2: the pronunciation of their name. They can't take offense because
- 18:59Speaker 2: guess what? Don't think they're a real person?
- 19:01Speaker 1: Who's real? Though? Sy Cutters, They're so real. Four figure

- 22:37Speaker 2: little soggy, not quite not quite super hot.
- 22:39Speaker 1: I prefer the chips a little soggy, but they've got
- 22:41Speaker 1: to be hot.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Yes, this is neither.
- 22:42Speaker 1: So I've got an extra salt on them too. Yes,
- 22:44Speaker 1: So which one did you go to?
- 22:46Speaker 2: I went to the place that was not the good one.
- 22:48Speaker 2: I wasn't willing to go that is not too long?
- 22:50Speaker 1: Yeah, verst mistake.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Yeah, I can't even say rooking mistake because I'm not
- 22:53Speaker 2: a rookie, just an idiot anyway.
- 22:57Speaker 1: So what order a double tender burger though with extra
- 23:00Speaker 1: sauce and extra letters because they never put enough letters
- 23:02Speaker 1: on there. It's pretty good.
- 23:04Speaker 2: The upshot of this is supports the major supports a matron.
- 23:08Speaker 2: Maybe support Dan. I don't support me. I'll only waste
- 23:10Speaker 2: your money.
- 23:13Speaker 1: Speaking waste less some time. Yeah about leads the dramaquaen
- 23:16Speaker 1: Lisa the Drama Queen originally aired January twenty fifth, two
- 23:19Speaker 1: thousand and as you said, there was a six week
- 23:21Speaker 1: gap in between last week episode and this one. Yeah,
- 23:23Speaker 1: really bizarre production code kab F two to two, written
- 23:26Speaker 1: by Brian Kelly and directed by Matthew Nastak. Guest stars
- 23:30Speaker 1: follow Boy playing the otro and Emily Blunt as Juliette.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Chortboard gag I will not use permanent ink on the
- 23:36Speaker 1: chalk board and the cash gave the family I lot
- 23:38Speaker 1: the casch gag. Yeah, where they become a collectibles and
- 23:40Speaker 1: worst catch gag. Ever, I need to make pretting this up.
- 23:43Speaker 1: So this is kind of historic. So started this podcast
- 23:46Speaker 1: nearly ten years ago, ten years ago in May, and
- 23:49Speaker 1: we started episode one Their way through Got season ten.
- 23:51Speaker 1: You jumped on board season twenty, and this is the
- 23:56Speaker 1: final episode of The Simpsons that features this intro. Gonna
- 24:01Speaker 1: be replaced, didn't you.
- 24:02Speaker 2: I was about to say, normally your timing is really good.
- 24:05Speaker 2: You could have put a little more hot source on that.
- 24:07Speaker 2: This is the final episode.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Of this Yeah, I can see you looked a little
- 24:13Speaker 1: like worried. I was like, I'm just gonna get to
- 24:14Speaker 1: the point I'm not I'm not that concerned. But yeah,
- 24:19Speaker 1: it's the the intro, the final intro of the Simpsons,
- 24:21Speaker 1: and now it's going to be HD wide screens. And
- 24:23Speaker 1: I'm just saying it's gonna feel like a different show
- 24:25Speaker 1: now because even because it's new Simpsons in regards to like,
- 24:30Speaker 1: it's not golden Ear. It's more modern Simpsons season twenty,
- 24:32Speaker 1: but it's still at the four to three ratio. Now
- 24:34Speaker 1: it's wid screen. Now, I wonder watching it with wide
- 24:37Speaker 1: screen now where it's going to feel, Oh, this is
- 24:39Speaker 1: a new era of the show.
- 24:41Speaker 2: New area for the Simpsons, maybe new era for four
- 24:43Speaker 2: Finger discomp But it's going to be, yeah, just as
- 24:45Speaker 2: good as show as it ever was, maybe even better.
- 24:47Speaker 1: We're going to broadcasting in wide screen. Now we're just
- 24:49Speaker 1: going to talk louder.
- 24:50Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, So couch gag, not about couch gag,
- 24:57Speaker 2: but also.
- 24:58Speaker 1: End of an era. It is the end of an era, indeed,
- 25:00Speaker 1: and beginning of a new one. They ended with the
- 25:03Speaker 1: worst one ever.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Every new beginning isn't some new beginning's end, as the
- 25:07Speaker 2: song says.
- 25:08Speaker 1: The episode kicks off with Homer dropping the kids off
- 25:10Speaker 1: at the Springfield Rec Center. He says, when you're older,
- 25:12Speaker 1: you realize how much you miss these fun activities. That's
- 25:15Speaker 1: kind of mean to Elliot when he goes, I don't
- 25:16Speaker 1: want to have to go to school. I don't want
- 25:17Speaker 1: to know. I said, mate, understand, this is the best
- 25:20Speaker 1: time of your life. You have no responsible He always says,
- 25:23Speaker 1: I want to be an adult. I'm like, you don't, don't.
- 25:26Speaker 1: I understand. When you're an adult you can do things
- 25:27Speaker 1: you want to do, but when you're a kid, you
- 25:29Speaker 1: have adults who do that shit for you. Just enjoy
- 25:31Speaker 1: being a kid, mate. And yeah, oh, by the way,
- 25:34Speaker 1: shout out to Elliott. Guess what Eliot did. He got
- 25:37Speaker 1: voted class captain. Oh my goodness. Yeah, out of all
- 25:39Speaker 1: the kids, the one class each has a captain. His
- 25:41Speaker 1: peers voted him class captain more asbestos and they said
- 25:45Speaker 1: he's our man.
- 25:48Speaker 2: Meanwhile, yeah, the other kid was sort of like voting
- 25:50Speaker 2: on more science ficient books in the library.
- 25:52Speaker 1: I love the way they The teacher explained it to
- 25:54Speaker 1: me too. So they got ten people or put their
- 25:56Speaker 1: hand up, so we want to go for class captain.
- 25:58Speaker 1: They all got the front. They all did a little speech.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Elliot said, he apparently she goes, Elliott just went up
- 26:02Speaker 1: there and he said, I'm going to be good as
- 26:04Speaker 1: class captain because I'm kind, respectful. I'll help you guys learn.
- 26:07Speaker 1: If you need anything, I will help you. And everyone
- 26:09Speaker 1: else just kind of said because because they won c
- 26:12Speaker 1: and then basically Ali was Elliott was a tie with
- 26:15Speaker 1: somebody else. So she said, we don't got the other
- 26:17Speaker 1: two on the up the front. And how do you
- 26:19Speaker 1: think they decided who was going to be the class captain?
- 26:21Speaker 2: I want to say I'm wrestle.
- 26:22Speaker 1: No, they just said, right, who voced? Ali put your
- 26:25Speaker 1: hands up and apparently like everyone will popular everyone except
- 26:28Speaker 1: for like two kids put the head of for Alliot.
- 26:30Speaker 1: And I'm like, oh that is so harsh. Great.
- 26:34Speaker 2: See now now Eliot has his own baby, baby Gerald. Yeah,
- 26:38Speaker 2: he's got a nemesis.
- 26:38Speaker 1: He's got a nemesis. Yeah, I like Elliott, I get wrong,
- 26:42Speaker 1: he's a good kid. Said that. Well, I said to her,
- 26:44Speaker 1: you realize that's how super Villain's upborn. This kid's just
- 26:50Speaker 1: going to steal in it forever. Well, then Elliot, how's
- 26:53Speaker 1: his face feeling? Because he goes, oh, yeah, he proa
- 26:55Speaker 1: the creaker bat. It's it's going down. No, fracture in
- 26:57Speaker 1: the jaw, though it might have been frast went to
- 26:59Speaker 1: get scans and whatnot. So he's he's still much better.
- 27:01Speaker 1: But it's like a little hard ball. And I think
- 27:03Speaker 1: it might be like they think it's melanoma or something
- 27:05Speaker 1: like that.
- 27:06Speaker 2: That sounds serious.
- 27:07Speaker 1: It does. Maybe it's not that he meta melano is
- 27:13Speaker 1: skin can it's not that, even Tom that's the one, yes,
- 27:16Speaker 1: big words computer bell, so he has that in his
- 27:22Speaker 1: face possibly, so think it's an ultra sound on that
- 27:25Speaker 1: to see if that's all right. But it's gone down,
- 27:26Speaker 1: doesn't hurt the touch anymore. It's this is very good.
- 27:28Speaker 2: He's back playing cricket again. This is very good news.
- 27:31Speaker 2: In semi related news, Lou's daughter Audrey is house captain
- 27:35Speaker 2: of the House school. So yeah, we're just associated with
- 27:38Speaker 2: Well done Audrey. Yeah, well done Audrey.
- 27:41Speaker 1: Well done.
- 27:42Speaker 2: Bart and Lisa going off to the rec center. Yes
- 27:44Speaker 2: it was a silky seguay, wasn't it was?
- 27:46Speaker 1: Indeed? Yeah, Homer bails on them coming with guys doing
- 27:48Speaker 1: some showering kung fu. All this is just pointless. A
- 27:50Speaker 1: lot of fat shaming this episode. Yeah, this is the voice.
- 27:53Speaker 1: Certainly in this first part there's always fat shaving in
- 27:55Speaker 1: the Simpsons, No fat chicks. Yeah, but that was funny.
- 28:01Speaker 1: This is just a guy saying that there's nothing to
- 28:02Speaker 1: do with my weight. It's all about what is it?
- 28:04Speaker 1: He's chi is it? It's cheap? He's chea Yes, he
- 28:07Speaker 1: says on my signal, which is it a matrix reference
- 28:09Speaker 1: or a rock reference? Just bring it. That looks a
- 28:11Speaker 1: bit like it.
- 28:11Speaker 2: Although I'm pretty sure that martial artists have been doing
- 28:14Speaker 2: that since spread since martial arts.
- 28:16Speaker 1: By the way, I learn to confort.
- 28:18Speaker 2: Yeah, anyone who's watched a Hong Kong action movie over
- 28:23Speaker 2: the last thirty or so years may be aware of
- 28:26Speaker 2: Samo Hung, who's like a contemporary of Jackie Chan, except
- 28:29Speaker 2: he's a big guy, like a big guess, a fat guy,
- 28:32Speaker 2: but absolutely kickars. He was like, you know, Chris Farley's
- 28:36Speaker 2: really bleetic, like he's very graceful. Samo Hung's a bit
- 28:39Speaker 2: like that, but also with violence. Okay, So there you go,
- 28:43Speaker 2: So I wouldn't be dis in comic book John Thick,
- 28:47Speaker 2: John Thick, John Thick, there you go. There what a guy.
- 28:54Speaker 1: So Lisa's in art class, the teacher's not having a
- 28:56Speaker 1: good time. Actually didn't mind this as well. So she's
- 28:57Speaker 1: saying this orange is not that orange, just it. She's like,
- 29:00Speaker 1: what is it? Lor your expectations, Lory expectations.
- 29:04Speaker 2: Stop stop, Juliet, this is terrible.
- 29:07Speaker 1: Your art is personal and wrong.
- 29:09Speaker 2: I was painting with my heart and if you look
- 29:12Speaker 2: carefully you can see that the night is Josh Groebin
- 29:15Speaker 2: are young century's greatest vocalist. Oh another grob night.
- 29:20Speaker 1: I didn't get all the Josh Grobn loving this either.
- 29:21Speaker 1: It just went on forever.
- 29:23Speaker 2: No, I mean, I was expecting to see in the
- 29:25Speaker 2: closing credits special guest star Josh.
- 29:27Speaker 1: Rober period was not in it. I'm like, what are
- 29:29Speaker 1: we doing here? Did I love Josh Grovin in Heavenly Creatures?
- 29:33Speaker 2: No, Heavenly Creatures set like in the nineteen fifties or something.
- 29:36Speaker 1: What is the point? I don't know? But did they
- 29:39Speaker 1: sing in songs? They're doing this? I just it doesn't
- 29:41Speaker 1: make any sense to me. But Lisa says, she goes, well,
- 29:44Speaker 1: do you want to be a teacher? Yes? I do,
- 29:45Speaker 1: and she Lisa takes over the class. Then they bail
- 29:48Speaker 1: her and Juliette leave. Juliet is new in town. Her
- 29:51Speaker 1: father's lecturer at the Uni.
- 29:53Speaker 2: I guess so letter somewhere specializing in the works of
- 29:56Speaker 2: John Grisham.
- 29:57Speaker 1: Yes, indeed, Yeah, and then they sing some Josh Grobin
- 30:00Speaker 1: which goes on forever and I've got here. This is
- 30:01Speaker 1: just killing time, really just killing time, and Willie puts
- 30:05Speaker 1: the broom in his ears and Wiggans put the gun
- 30:06Speaker 1: in his ears and what was the point?
- 30:08Speaker 2: This is killing time? And also my will to live.
- 30:10Speaker 1: Yeah. Lisa is now with Bart at the Quickie Mart.
- 30:13Speaker 1: So it seems she's invited Bart down to the quicker
- 30:15Speaker 1: Mart to help her buy candy for the first playdate
- 30:17Speaker 1: because she's not used to having playdates anymore. She doesn't
- 30:19Speaker 1: really have a friend.
- 30:20Speaker 2: But it feels weird that she's referring to it as
- 30:22Speaker 2: a playdate.
- 30:23Speaker 1: Yeah, she's eight. Yeah, we wouldn't really.
- 30:26Speaker 2: But I think I think something that you organize yourself,
- 30:30Speaker 2: you would not necessarily call a playdate.
- 30:31Speaker 1: Yeah. I was going to say, when I organize something,
- 30:33Speaker 1: I said, you should we organize a playdate for the kids.
- 30:35Speaker 1: But it's not just hey, can I come over and
- 30:37Speaker 1: play it? So that's not a playdate. Yeah. Anyway, Bazaar,
- 30:42Speaker 1: So thereout the Quickie Mark, Bart is offering some suggestions
- 30:45Speaker 1: in Eminem and Eminem's are great, and she's shutting them down.
- 30:49Speaker 1: You're an idiot with whom being cruel, who comes in
- 30:52Speaker 1: with a suggestion of the Almond Joys. Finally a real suggestion.
- 30:56Speaker 1: I just went, why is everyone like this? Why is everybody? Look?
- 31:00Speaker 1: In this episode so far everyone has been mean? Yes,
- 31:02Speaker 1: so far. Ow. She arrives at Tuition Academy, which is
- 31:06Speaker 1: unfortunate scholarship free, which means she's never getting in, and
- 31:08Speaker 1: Lisa does not know what to do on a playdates.
- 31:11Speaker 1: It's been so long, and Juliet says, my parents have
- 31:14Speaker 1: bought me a pass for the Folk Art Museum, which
- 31:17Speaker 1: includes access on Wednesdays apparently okay, and likely today is Wednesday,
- 31:22Speaker 1: so that we have a montage with them at the
- 31:23Speaker 1: Folk Art Museum, which is just again killing time. Oh yes,
- 31:26Speaker 1: but one of the robot sculptures, though, I will say,
- 31:29Speaker 1: look like linguomember Linguo, which was that's the one based
- 31:32Speaker 1: on go right and run, Lola run, that's right? Yeah, yes,
- 31:35Speaker 1: the multiple being Linguo dead. Linguo is dead. Yes, But
- 31:39Speaker 1: besides that, though, there was nothing else to really relate
- 31:41Speaker 1: in this. It was just them having fun at a
- 31:43Speaker 1: Folk Art Museum.
- 31:44Speaker 2: Yeah, as I said, when you yeah, you find a
- 31:47Speaker 2: kindred spirit who someone's in the same weird shit that
- 31:49Speaker 2: you are. Or it is like no one else would
- 31:51Speaker 2: ever go to the Folk Art Museum with me. This
- 31:53Speaker 2: person's not just here under like I suppose it'd be
- 31:55Speaker 2: a nice place to go to. But we're both enthusiastic
- 31:57Speaker 2: about this. It's a great feeling. It's a fantastic feeling.
- 32:00Speaker 1: But it's me when I was a kid, when I
- 32:02Speaker 1: discover someone else who liked wrestling, I go, you liked
- 32:05Speaker 1: wrestling too? The yeah shit. Oh but Marge is happy
- 32:11Speaker 1: that Lisa has finally found a friend and she's asked
- 32:13Speaker 1: her to come over and to the house and play,
- 32:16Speaker 1: finally starting to act like, as the book would say,
- 32:18Speaker 1: normal childhood behavior. Well last, hey, man, can you yet
- 32:28Speaker 1: sleep over? Are your parents okay with that?
- 32:30Speaker 2: They never met us. We could be murderers, could have
- 32:33Speaker 2: been if we hadn't had kids. These all feel like
- 32:37Speaker 2: lines that would go over well in the writer's room.
- 32:39Speaker 2: It was like, oh, yeah, Homer would say something like that,
- 32:42Speaker 2: except yeah, there's a real disconnect in like each deliver
- 32:46Speaker 2: I won't say how Dan's delivered.
- 32:48Speaker 1: It's the way it plays out in the scene, isn't it. Yeah,
- 32:51Speaker 1: But having dinner here's another moment here. So they're having
- 32:54Speaker 1: dinner and she brings up how father's the foremost scholar
- 32:57Speaker 1: for John Grisham books, and she says that he discovered
- 32:59Speaker 1: the real villain Time to Kill was the legal system itself,
- 33:03Speaker 1: the legal system itself, and then goes told you, March
- 33:05Speaker 1: told you, and it just looks at him. I don't think,
- 33:08Speaker 1: what the hell is going on?
- 33:09Speaker 2: And then I didn't mind that all that much because
- 33:11Speaker 2: it makes sense.
- 33:13Speaker 1: Why would I what it's not.
- 33:17Speaker 2: It's a kind of a really obvious point in a
- 33:19Speaker 2: Time to Kill.
- 33:20Speaker 1: It's like, well, you know, the.
- 33:20Speaker 2: Systems kind of flawed or whatever.
- 33:23Speaker 1: But it feels like the kind of thing that Homer
- 33:24Speaker 1: would be sort of going.
- 33:25Speaker 2: I think the real villain is the legal system. Like
- 33:28Speaker 2: he's come to this incredible inside. Okay, so I've never
- 33:30Speaker 2: seen a time to care or read the book. So
- 33:33Speaker 2: is that meant to be the joke?
- 33:33Speaker 1: Is that? Well, of course everyone knows that. Oh do
- 33:36Speaker 1: you think that's what they're going for here? I've missed
- 33:39Speaker 1: That's It's a real just.
- 33:40Speaker 2: Kind of simple inside that Homer would take as like
- 33:45Speaker 2: him being the the Reds and less in just a
- 33:49Speaker 2: corruption or whatever. It's like, yeah, he would feel like
- 33:52Speaker 2: the smartest person in the room pointing out something that
- 33:54Speaker 2: is kind of obvious.
- 33:55Speaker 1: Okay, but now they're writing tales of a Koalia And
- 33:58Speaker 1: this is where for me, I thought the episode has
- 34:01Speaker 1: got so boring. So it's lights out the next the
- 34:04Speaker 1: next This next moment here was probably the nicest moment
- 34:06Speaker 1: of the episode, the one moment in the story that
- 34:09Speaker 1: really felt like I had some emotional punch where lights
- 34:12Speaker 1: are out. She asked Lesa to be a best friend.
- 34:14Speaker 1: Marge's listening at the door, saying say yes, yes, yes.
- 34:16Speaker 1: She says yes, and she says to herself, I have
- 34:18Speaker 1: a best friend. Juliette here shays, you heard that, mustill
- 34:21Speaker 1: be best friend me? Okay, yes, and she's like, my
- 34:23Speaker 1: best friend's so cool. That's a nice moment. Sure is
- 34:25Speaker 1: well you where we've all had a moment in our
- 34:28Speaker 1: lives where we've got a best friend and we drop
- 34:30Speaker 1: our guard and reveal or something about For me growing up,
- 34:32Speaker 1: it was I had two best friends I've mentioned before,
- 34:36Speaker 1: Medie mockel Meade and Daniel Jones Jonesy and Media. I
- 34:38Speaker 1: call them, right, and now the only two of my
- 34:40Speaker 1: friends who knew that I wet the bed. I went
- 34:42Speaker 1: to the bed until I was about eleven. Right, That's
- 34:44Speaker 1: why I wouldn't go to school camps, wouldn't have anything
- 34:46Speaker 1: of that. But knowing that I could trust them and
- 34:48Speaker 1: they just didn't care, it is special to me. It's
- 34:52Speaker 1: just like, yeah, that So it reminded me of that
- 34:54Speaker 1: moment where I was like, ah, I want to say
- 34:56Speaker 1: at their house, I'm like, I wet the bed and
- 34:59Speaker 1: I'm like so, I'm like, oh, cool, you don't care. Yeah,
- 35:04Speaker 1: So that was my moment for me.
- 35:05Speaker 2: Yeah, no, No, it's fantastic when you have someone like that.
- 35:07Speaker 1: In your life. Yeah, we can reveal something and go, oh,
- 35:09Speaker 1: they just they genuinely just don't give a shit. It
- 35:12Speaker 1: doesn't bother them. I still want to be your friend.
- 35:14Speaker 1: But it's now the morning time and Lisa is meeting
- 35:16Speaker 1: her after school, margin Homer offers some advice. It was
- 35:19Speaker 1: the bit I was mentioning earlier. If the dog bites,
- 35:21Speaker 1: you don't make a big deal out of it. March
- 35:23Speaker 1: says that. Then Homer says the same thing and then
- 35:26Speaker 1: patronizes Marge for being annoyed that she didn't. Yeah, well,
- 35:29Speaker 1: I just didn't get what it feels like. It's writing
- 35:32Speaker 1: Homer into the story for the sake of h We
- 35:34Speaker 1: need Homer to say something. None of the jokes land,
- 35:37Speaker 1: in my opinion, he just says something silly, and he's
- 35:40Speaker 1: being rude to March. For the majority of everyone's rude
- 35:42Speaker 1: to March. That's the bulk of this. If he's just
- 35:45Speaker 1: saying something funny for the sake of it, that's different,
- 35:47Speaker 1: or saying something stupid. But when he's blittling March, everything's
- 35:51Speaker 1: blittling March. Yeah.
- 35:52Speaker 2: I mean, I think when we used to have Homer
- 35:54Speaker 2: sort of making dumbass comments, but usually that would be
- 35:59Speaker 2: at his own expence, and yeah, but they were never
- 36:01Speaker 2: sort of if they were directed at March, the joke
- 36:04Speaker 2: was always reflected back on Home. I always made him
- 36:07Speaker 2: look bad or baffoonish or whatever. Whereas this is just
- 36:10Speaker 2: kind of snarking and biting for the for the sake
- 36:13Speaker 2: of it.
- 36:13Speaker 1: Yeah, pointless, pointless snark, pointless snark. Yeah, now they're writing
- 36:18Speaker 1: the book at the at the are they writing the book?
- 36:24Speaker 1: So now they're writing the book outside. I think it
- 36:26Speaker 1: must have been after school, and they think of the Tunicorn,
- 36:28Speaker 1: that's their new character they've created, and she loves her accents,
- 36:31Speaker 1: so she says, you can do the audio book. And
- 36:32Speaker 1: then they're playing at the more the creative figures and whatnot.
- 36:35Speaker 1: Nelson mocks them and then he has a headless dart
- 36:38Speaker 1: Fader and email bus Stacey wrapped up in Sullifan tape
- 36:40Speaker 1: and makes him kiss, makes them kiss. Yes, So what
- 36:43Speaker 1: was your favorite figure when you're a kid.
- 36:46Speaker 2: Look, I had a bunch of little a little sort
- 36:51Speaker 2: of cowboy figures, but I don't know, might have inherited
- 36:54Speaker 2: from someone or whatever. Some Star Wars action figures I
- 36:57Speaker 2: never really play. I never like with my Star Wars
- 37:00Speaker 2: because I never played Star Wars. I sort of made
- 37:02Speaker 2: up my own stories that would have like, I know,
- 37:06Speaker 2: Marthkter or something like that.
- 37:08Speaker 1: It's because I had no originality, math data something like
- 37:12Speaker 1: that I had. I loved my Street Sharks, I loved
- 37:16Speaker 1: my Power Rangers, and I love my wrestling figures now
- 37:19Speaker 1: my thirty things.
- 37:20Speaker 2: Oh yeah, but there was nothing like the imagination you
- 37:22Speaker 2: had when you're a kid as well, but particularly you know,
- 37:25Speaker 2: sort of growing up in our eras maybe sort of
- 37:27Speaker 2: pre into sort of stuff. Yeah, you would take the
- 37:31Speaker 2: stuff that you saw, the stuff that you read or
- 37:32Speaker 2: order that, and but you would remix it in your
- 37:35Speaker 2: mind and use it as a jumping off point.
- 37:37Speaker 1: Which one say to Elliot because when he watches a movie,
- 37:39Speaker 1: for example, he loves cars, movie movie cars, where he's
- 37:41Speaker 1: got all the card toys and stuff. He tries to
- 37:43Speaker 1: recreate what he sees on the TV. And I say
- 37:45Speaker 1: to him, it's okay if you don't do exactly what's
- 37:47Speaker 1: on the TV, just do what you want. Or he
- 37:49Speaker 1: was coloring a coloring book the other day. We're waiting
- 37:51Speaker 1: for Nickel to nicol and Holly get the nails done,
- 37:53Speaker 1: so but to big w and we've got a coloring
- 37:55Speaker 1: book and we'll sit in there coloring in whist we're
- 37:56Speaker 1: waiting for for the girls to finish. And he's coloring.
- 37:59Speaker 1: He has, oh, I need a blue because because there's
- 38:01Speaker 1: a Sonic book. And I said it's color and green,
- 38:03Speaker 1: you guys, no, but Sonics blue. And I said, he
- 38:04Speaker 1: can be what color you want him to be, mate,
- 38:06Speaker 1: it doesn't matter. And it was almost like a light
- 38:08Speaker 1: bulb when off he went, sure, so I can just
- 38:11Speaker 1: be creative.
- 38:12Speaker 2: Yeah, there's color outside the lines don't.
- 38:14Speaker 1: Matter, because he used to get really frustrat when we
- 38:16Speaker 1: went outside the lines and I said, it doesn't matter.
- 38:18Speaker 1: It actually doesn't matter. And now he just does what
- 38:20Speaker 1: he wants to. Yet he Knuckles is the red guy,
- 38:22Speaker 1: you know, Knuckles from Sonic and he showed me and
- 38:24Speaker 1: it was like a pink knuckles and I was like, cool,
- 38:27Speaker 1: there you go. He's like, there's no red, sort of
- 38:28Speaker 1: colored pink, and I'm like, you're getting it, buddy, You're
- 38:31Speaker 1: getting it. It doesn't matter. Improvised, buddy, improvised.
- 38:34Speaker 2: This is why his house captain.
- 38:35Speaker 1: He is classic. Classic. He's working his way out. But anyway,
- 38:41Speaker 1: so the yes, the notesn't been mocking to be playing
- 38:44Speaker 1: with the toys on their way to dinner. Now at Juliete's,
- 38:46Speaker 1: the Simpsons family are and they said, we're going to
- 38:48Speaker 1: some big words. Homer says he'll use computer bark and
- 38:50Speaker 1: have doorbell nice doorbell? Is it computerized? Don't you come
- 38:59Speaker 1: up with any I don't think they could have gone
- 39:03Speaker 1: for the choke bit here because it's too much.
- 39:05Speaker 2: But at the same time, I think even I think
- 39:07Speaker 2: Julie's family is like, why are you smacking a kid
- 39:09Speaker 2: in the back of the head with such ferocity?
- 39:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't think that's the kind of humor that
- 39:13Speaker 1: the differences we need to see. I think there needs
- 39:15Speaker 1: to be a difference in class. We're not smacking NICKI
- 39:17Speaker 1: around your manners or something like that. Yeah. Yeah, so
- 39:21Speaker 1: the father's now talking outside, you know, her father says
- 39:24Speaker 1: nice to the fast friends. Did we get the toilet
- 39:25Speaker 1: the bathroom gave? You're saying earlier?
- 39:27Speaker 2: I do like that home who normally doesn't smoke a
- 39:30Speaker 2: pipe is smoking.
- 39:30Speaker 1: A pipe because in Millord and whatnot. And then the
- 39:33Speaker 1: father is reading from the firm over the dinner table,
- 39:36Speaker 1: and he tells the girls that can we perform a
- 39:39Speaker 1: medley of our favorite Josh Groban songs? And the way
- 39:41Speaker 1: again with the Grovin What the hell is going on here?
- 39:44Speaker 1: It's just one of the writers daughters have loved Grovin
- 39:47Speaker 1: or did one of the writers love Grobin? Yeah, it's
- 39:50Speaker 1: weird that you would do all this and not have
- 39:52Speaker 1: him on the show, isn't it? It is?
- 39:54Speaker 2: Again, I get where they're going, what they're going forward
- 39:57Speaker 2: this kind of thing. I mean, I'm sure. Yeah, have
- 40:00Speaker 2: been times when Elliott or Holly has been like, oh
- 40:03Speaker 2: can I read There might be people around they sort
- 40:06Speaker 2: of want to not show off, but can I read
- 40:09Speaker 2: you this poem that I wrote or something along those lines,
- 40:11Speaker 2: or here's the thing that I did in school that
- 40:13Speaker 2: I learned today.
- 40:13Speaker 1: And it's like, well, that's really sweet. But see it's
- 40:16Speaker 1: funny though, when you become a parent. I used to
- 40:18Speaker 1: look at parents and they put like their kids drawings
- 40:20Speaker 1: in the fridge and go, it's two squiggles, what are
- 40:22Speaker 1: you doing? I appreciate and actually my everything that my
- 40:26Speaker 1: kids creates, it's weird. When you're the parent, you go,
- 40:29Speaker 1: I know this is nothing, but something I created, created this.
- 40:34Speaker 1: It's a it's what keeps you from devouring your children?
- 40:39Speaker 1: What separazas from the what was the Homer gag? Or
- 40:42Speaker 1: separatezs from the weasel?
- 40:44Speaker 2: Something like that?
- 40:45Speaker 1: Yeah, who knows? But so there they haven't. They haven't.
- 40:49Speaker 1: They're doing the medley here for Josh groblah blah blah blah.
- 40:51Speaker 1: He interrupts the father and Trump says we should put
- 40:53Speaker 1: on the Pelican brief score track three. She says, I
- 40:56Speaker 1: hate track three. I hate it. She runs off list
- 40:58Speaker 1: as I'll go get her then we get the repeatd
- 41:00Speaker 1: gag of Homer saying, can you tell me what this
- 41:01Speaker 1: lump is on my back? So the joke being I'm
- 41:03Speaker 1: not that kind of doctor. But then it's just that
- 41:05Speaker 1: it was a gummy bears. This is chewing chewing it.
- 41:08Speaker 1: It's just that line again, is it a pimple or
- 41:11Speaker 1: a boil? It was a gummy bear, same thing repeating.
- 41:15Speaker 1: The gags sometimes play that Julia sees a quality in
- 41:20Speaker 1: the backyard, and here I thought the episode was going
- 41:22Speaker 1: to take a turn, but no, Lissa just randomly sees
- 41:24Speaker 1: equality as well, and I was like, ah, okay, well, yeah,
- 41:26Speaker 1: this was the part where I twigged because I didn't
- 41:29Speaker 1: know what happens in the film. Is it?
- 41:30Speaker 2: Yes, they start to become pretty to their hallucination fantasies
- 41:34Speaker 2: and all that. In the minute they so like I
- 41:36Speaker 2: can see it, and it pops up at and know
- 41:39Speaker 2: where it's like, oh yeah, they're doing They're doing Heavenly creatures. Wow,
- 41:42Speaker 2: that's a.
- 41:43Speaker 1: Secure that's a dip cut. So basically, here they see
- 41:49Speaker 1: the tundicorn. They see I think it's a draft to
- 41:52Speaker 1: puss or something. It's a it's uncomfortable just about everywhere
- 41:55Speaker 1: a couple on land and on water or in water
- 41:57Speaker 1: and on land, and then they have a big dance
- 41:59Speaker 1: to Josh have a song again, not a whole or
- 42:02Speaker 1: two this episode now there's there's lots of just absolute filler.
- 42:05Speaker 1: But the girls now write in their book Marge's role playing.
- 42:08Speaker 1: She comes in, she's got the cookies that are shaped
- 42:10Speaker 1: like certain things whatever with dragon eggs. She's just trying
- 42:14Speaker 1: to be involved with this is our thing, not yours,
- 42:16Speaker 1: and I just want to be involved with the best
- 42:18Speaker 1: of you don't. And I thought the fact that that
- 42:20Speaker 1: wasn't call back on not good gott to drop the
- 42:24Speaker 1: ball this episode. Yeah. Skinner then calls the parents and
- 42:27Speaker 1: says Lisa is being unfocused, she's not really doing very
- 42:29Speaker 1: well at school. That's not followed up on either.
- 42:32Speaker 2: No, and even the whole gag about yeah, they're so
- 42:36Speaker 2: used to this being bart yeah, that they're not really
- 42:39Speaker 2: listening and they're just like, but we'll do this. It's like,
- 42:43Speaker 2: why is this not funny?
- 42:44Speaker 1: The best version of that was but no, sorry, habit
- 42:50Speaker 1: that's the peak. But again, this is where Skinner mentions
- 42:55Speaker 1: the Facebook page what and I was like, oh, you
- 42:57Speaker 1: old writers in the writer's room, like in the Facebooks
- 43:00Speaker 1: where I tell Lisa you can't see Juliet anymore because
- 43:02Speaker 1: you're not focused at school and you're just becoming a
- 43:05Speaker 1: different person. You're being mean to people. And she says, oh, disobey,
- 43:08Speaker 1: And Marge's already three steps ahea because she's Bart Simpson's mother.
- 43:11Speaker 1: She tries to think out the Winnow she catches her
- 43:13Speaker 1: in the wash basket. Then Bart sneaks he goes, but
- 43:15Speaker 1: age ten, he sneaks away. That's it. You don't see
- 43:18Speaker 1: where he goes. It's just that's it.
- 43:21Speaker 2: These are all ideas that just sound good on paper.
- 43:25Speaker 1: I thought Bart aged ten and he jumps away like
- 43:27Speaker 1: an injury outing, and I thought, how's Marge? Marge didn't
- 43:30Speaker 1: get him. Shouldn't the game be that? He thinks, even
- 43:33Speaker 1: though he's age, he's smarter than March and Marge is
- 43:35Speaker 1: still too smart for him.
- 43:36Speaker 2: He thinks, so, but I don't know, Man's I'm really
- 43:42Speaker 2: just I'm flammixed by this episode.
- 43:45Speaker 1: Yeah, it just feels very pointless, very pointless. Indeed. Now
- 43:48Speaker 1: Juliet meets Lisa at the school. She says, let's run
- 43:51Speaker 1: away together, and I'm like, what is going on? Here.
- 43:53Speaker 1: She says, I can't though, you can't go Juliette because
- 43:56Speaker 1: I have to go to the un you know, because
- 43:58Speaker 1: that's what Lisa does. It just Aqualia needs you. And
- 44:02Speaker 1: she's like, yeah, you're right, this fake thing that we've
- 44:07Speaker 1: made up, yep, it needs me. Aqualia is not real.
- 44:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I really feel like we're forced to do a
- 44:13Speaker 2: lot of heavy lifting off as I was here.
- 44:15Speaker 1: And if you haven't seen the source material and Heavenly creatures,
- 44:18Speaker 1: it doesn't make any sense to you. I've said time
- 44:20Speaker 1: and time again, the best parodies are the ones where
- 44:22Speaker 1: they're enjoyable, whether you've seen the actual source material or not.
- 44:25Speaker 1: This one is just fucking weird. It is so weird
- 44:28Speaker 1: that Lisa has just started fantasizing me this Aqualia, and
- 44:33Speaker 1: I get it, she's got a new fan and she
- 44:34Speaker 1: loves it.
- 44:34Speaker 2: But it's the responsibility is not on us as the
- 44:38Speaker 2: viewer to go, Okay, well, I guess she's feeling this,
- 44:42Speaker 2: or I guess this means that, so that it would
- 44:44Speaker 2: explain that, no, it's not on you to fill in
- 44:48Speaker 2: the blanks that the episode failed to do.
- 44:53Speaker 1: For me. It lost me when Lisa was visualizing it
- 44:56Speaker 1: all and feeling like she was actually in Aqualia. So
- 45:00Speaker 1: it's just them writing the book and Lisa's going and
- 45:01Speaker 1: then this happens, and they're this role playing and she's
- 45:04Speaker 1: envisioning in her mind, but to actually see it in
- 45:06Speaker 1: front of her and think she's in the world. I
- 45:08Speaker 1: thought this is just a step too far. It's weird.
- 45:09Speaker 2: Yeah, I won't say it's too much of a departure
- 45:12Speaker 2: from her traditional character, because she's an imaginative person and
- 45:15Speaker 2: a creative person, but this kind of thing is out
- 45:19Speaker 2: of sync with her kind of creative exactly her kind
- 45:22Speaker 2: of imagination, so she need to be under the sway
- 45:25Speaker 2: of someone else who has that wellspring of creativity or
- 45:30Speaker 2: what her that also has this kind of charisma and
- 45:34Speaker 2: the kind of charisma to draw you in and make
- 45:36Speaker 2: you see Equalia. But also, Juliet is not charismatic enough
- 45:41Speaker 2: for Lisa to fall under her sway. The character needed
- 45:44Speaker 2: to be more sort of like, oh, my god, she's
- 45:46Speaker 2: so mysterious and wild and everything like that. She's everything
- 45:48Speaker 2: that I want to be.
- 45:50Speaker 1: She's not.
- 45:51Speaker 2: No, all due respect to Emily Blunt and whoever else
- 45:56Speaker 2: created this character, but it's just like, yeah, to be oh,
- 46:00Speaker 2: she's so wild and free. She's an incredible free spirit,
- 46:03Speaker 2: et cetera, et cetera. Then you, oh, oh, that's because
- 46:05Speaker 2: she's crazy, because a.
- 46:06Speaker 1: Lot of people are a lot of crazy people are
- 46:08Speaker 1: care Lisa should have realized, oh, this chick's crazy at
- 46:10Speaker 1: the moment in the backyard when she's visualizing it, right,
- 46:12Speaker 1: and I think it would have been a better spin.
- 46:14Speaker 1: You don't have to just do heavenly creatures a bit
- 46:15Speaker 1: for bit. It could have been you're doing heavily creatures.
- 46:17Speaker 1: But that moment Lisa realizes, oh, wait a minute, she's
- 46:20Speaker 1: actually crazy, and Marge was right. And then but this
- 46:23Speaker 1: chick starts stalking her or something.
- 46:25Speaker 2: I think you need to do, like a rule of
- 46:26Speaker 2: threes kind of thing where you get three hallucinations. The
- 46:29Speaker 2: first time is Juliard is seeing it and she's explaining
- 46:32Speaker 2: it in great detail. Lisa can't see it, but she's like, oh,
- 46:36Speaker 2: there's a castle over there, and there's the dragon's leg,
- 46:38Speaker 2: et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. Juliet is child's imagination,
- 46:41Speaker 2: child's imagination, and it's so vivid and in the way
- 46:45Speaker 2: that Juliet explains it that Lisa's like, Wow, this person's fantastic.
- 46:48Speaker 2: They're so imaginative and fun. The next time she does
- 46:51Speaker 2: it again, and this time Lisa sees it, Wow, you've
- 46:53Speaker 2: draw me into this world. I'm so happy to be
- 46:55Speaker 2: here with you. The third time Julia does it, she
- 46:58Speaker 2: does it too much, and it's like and over there
- 47:01Speaker 2: is the spike where your father's head is or some
- 47:03Speaker 2: shit like that. It's like, oh, wait a minute, Oh no,
- 47:05Speaker 2: that's too vivid, and you were always real and you're
- 47:08Speaker 2: trying to bring this into the real, like to quote
- 47:11Speaker 2: the great poets, Hall notes, I can't go for that,
- 47:14Speaker 2: No can do so. Yeah, I mean that's how I
- 47:18Speaker 2: would certainly do that, and honestly, I think it'd be
- 47:20Speaker 2: much better.
- 47:21Speaker 1: I think we do a pretty good job of fixing
- 47:23Speaker 1: these episodes lately.
- 47:24Speaker 2: I think, just like Jimmy Saville, we'll fix it. I'll
- 47:26Speaker 2: wait a minute.
- 47:28Speaker 1: So this is where we get really saying humbers the
- 47:31Speaker 1: one time he ran up to a land of equality,
- 47:32Speaker 1: and we get him arriving at Alice Island saying that
- 47:35Speaker 1: he's William Doogal You're now Grand Skipper really, and that's it.
- 47:38Speaker 1: There's no joke there. Yeah.
- 47:41Speaker 2: I mean I kind of like the idea of that that.
- 47:45Speaker 2: I'm no fan of Willy, as everyone knows, I do
- 47:50Speaker 2: like the idea, like, oh, I've come from this far
- 47:51Speaker 2: away land to back in my home country. I was
- 47:54Speaker 2: a doctor and he was like, we got enough doctors.
- 47:57Speaker 2: He's a groundskeeper.
- 47:58Speaker 1: Though. I guess this is new life.
- 48:01Speaker 2: It's a good throwaway gag in my mind, at least,
- 48:04Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 48:04Speaker 1: This was maybe a doctor. Why we didn't come to
- 48:07Speaker 1: a land of Equality's I'm sure, well, I don't know.
- 48:11Speaker 1: It doesn't matter, don't think about it that much. The
- 48:15Speaker 1: girls now riding, and they arrive at Clammelot, the Rundown
- 48:18Speaker 1: seafood restaurant that went downhill fast. It's just where we'll live.
- 48:23Speaker 1: How did you sign this place? My family ate here
- 48:26Speaker 1: last week?
- 48:27Speaker 2: It really went downhill fast.
- 48:28Speaker 1: But if you just believe any place can be a qualia.
- 48:46Speaker 2: Oh no, clam Loots is closed.
- 48:49Speaker 1: I'm not surprised. They clam chowter smelled like shap Yeah.

- 49:24Speaker 1: Marge because Marge thinks that she's at the un she
- 49:27Speaker 1: hasn't told she hasn't told the family that she's gone
- 49:30Speaker 1: off to Akuali, and Martin Kle says that there's no
- 49:33Speaker 1: Abajan you can to the extent, to an extent, you
- 49:36Speaker 1: can't trust the word of Belgians, So I am telling
- 49:39Speaker 1: the truth. Margin blames herself for Lisa running away if
- 49:42Speaker 1: it's not her fault at all, and Bart suggests that
- 49:45Speaker 1: they've probably just gone to some stupid castle. Marge like,
- 49:47Speaker 1: I know where they've gone. And Namma has the conversation
- 49:50Speaker 1: here a butt, whether she wear a tie or nice
- 49:52Speaker 1: shoes and whatever?
- 49:55Speaker 2: See again a joke that could possibly quote unquote work, Yeah,
- 49:59Speaker 2: don't a scene, but the whole thing is like, oh well,
- 50:02Speaker 2: I think I think you know Marge would need to say, oh,
- 50:04Speaker 2: they're at that abandoned you remember that fancy restaurant, and
- 50:08Speaker 2: that's now we're going to do I need my do
- 50:10Speaker 2: I need.
- 50:11Speaker 1: Wood one, Except that would ruin this moment just why
- 50:13Speaker 1: they didn't do it would ruin the reveal of them
- 50:15Speaker 1: not being at the actual place. We'll see.
- 50:17Speaker 2: We need this is why we need to write his room.
- 50:19Speaker 1: But it's right though, work it out so Marge knows
- 50:22Speaker 1: where they're going. And so if you want to use
- 50:24Speaker 1: that joke, you need that set up. You need a joke,
- 50:26Speaker 1: A punchline needs to set up. It does. Yeah, it
- 50:29Speaker 1: just very much. There was like three or four moments
- 50:31Speaker 1: in this episode where I'm watching this going it feels
- 50:34Speaker 1: like they've gone, well, we need to end with Homer
- 50:36Speaker 1: saying something funny or silly. How many? How many? How
- 50:39Speaker 1: many scenes in this episode ended with Homer saying something
- 50:41Speaker 1: stupid more than one. There's the one of the dinner
- 50:45Speaker 1: table saying told you, Marge. There's the if you say so, Marge,
- 50:48Speaker 1: There's this one. There's there was one day that started
- 50:51Speaker 1: the episode as well. I can't remember what it was exactly,
- 50:53Speaker 1: probably when he dropping kids off at the that wasn't
- 50:55Speaker 1: necessarily that wasn't relliant. Yeah, maybe kind of, but there
- 50:58Speaker 1: was one after that. But there's so many scenes just
- 51:01Speaker 1: end with Homer saying something stupid.
- 51:03Speaker 2: Well, for the longest time, that was kind of key
- 51:06Speaker 2: to the show's success.
- 51:07Speaker 1: Yeah, but it was also funny.
- 51:08Speaker 2: Well that's true. Yeah, I know, Homo saying something that's
- 51:13Speaker 2: gonna work.
- 51:14Speaker 1: But we have the girls hanging out in the in
- 51:16Speaker 1: the Klammelot Seaford restaurant. You think the family are arriving
- 51:19Speaker 1: with the silhouettes, but it's actually the bullies, which was
- 51:21Speaker 1: a nice they got me a nice review. They tie
- 51:24Speaker 1: them up because they think they're gonna blow them about
- 51:27Speaker 1: their stashed stolen peaches and they've seen it a bit
- 51:31Speaker 1: extreme waiting out the bad haircuts as well. Yeah, lots
- 51:34Speaker 1: of me in cages and stuff. You know, we come back.
- 51:36Speaker 1: They been putting the cages. Juliette says, shut your eyes
- 51:39Speaker 1: for a quality and this is like, can we just not?
- 51:41Speaker 1: She goes, well, it's better than being here, so they
- 51:44Speaker 1: do so.
- 51:44Speaker 2: As she said, what was it? The real world is
- 51:45Speaker 2: for people who can't imagine anything better.
- 51:47Speaker 1: Yes, Kearnie is an interested in their story as they're
- 51:50Speaker 1: talking about it. He's like, what's going on is they
- 51:52Speaker 1: have dragons and Lisa's about to mock him to the
- 51:54Speaker 1: dragons and it's like, no, no, he's got dragons chubby ball
- 51:56Speaker 1: ones and he's now invested in because they're the ones
- 51:58Speaker 1: that he likes.
- 52:00Speaker 2: Just to rewind just for a second, I had an issue.
- 52:02Speaker 2: Whether they're putting the girls in cages or tying them
- 52:04Speaker 2: up or whatever, this seems a bit extreme, Like I said.
- 52:07Speaker 1: That's what she said, that's true.
- 52:10Speaker 2: Why not have a sort of a not a necessarily
- 52:12Speaker 2: parallel storyline. But the bullies are showed up because they're
- 52:15Speaker 2: playing their own kind of fantasy game or something. It's like, oh, well,
- 52:18Speaker 2: you know they're doing like say, the girls have got
- 52:21Speaker 2: a quality. It's a bit more sort of a romanticy
- 52:24Speaker 2: kind of deal, whereas the boys are doing like a
- 52:27Speaker 2: Game of Thrones, more grungey kind of shit with a
- 52:30Speaker 2: castle or whatever. It's like, and they're locked it not
- 52:33Speaker 2: locked in their own fantasy. But it was like, well,
- 52:34Speaker 2: we've got our own fantasy game as well. We're tying
- 52:36Speaker 2: you to a steak, you witches or something along those
- 52:39Speaker 2: and those vision versus vision, it's vision versus vision, as
- 52:41Speaker 2: opposed to just oh, we're going to tie these girls
- 52:43Speaker 2: up because we stole some peaches, Like, what the fuck, man,
- 52:46Speaker 2: what's the point. So this way it gives you a
- 52:50Speaker 2: little bit of an out, and it also a little
- 52:52Speaker 2: bit of a nice parallel synchronousity. I think that would
- 52:54Speaker 2: work a whole lot better. And then Kearney gets.
- 52:56Speaker 1: Turned by Nys in their vision that he jumps into
- 52:58Speaker 1: their vision and joins their side. Yeah, I think that'd
- 53:01Speaker 1: be better. I think that would be great.
- 53:05Speaker 2: And then it's like, I better walk that back because
- 53:07Speaker 2: I don't think it'll be great, but better is it's
- 53:10Speaker 2: a much a more effective way put it.
- 53:11Speaker 1: The Jimbo and Dolph arrive with the cream for the peaches,
- 53:15Speaker 1: and they grab the book, the Equality Book, and they
- 53:17Speaker 1: go to burn it, and Kney helps them, and he
- 53:19Speaker 1: thinks or that in the vision, it looks like he
- 53:22Speaker 1: has beating them all up. In reality, he's just envisioning
- 53:24Speaker 1: himself beating them up, but he's actually been beaten up himself,
- 53:27Speaker 1: and Juliet and Lisa just leave him to be beaten up.
- 53:31Speaker 1: Way to disregard your savior, Yes, Lisa says she doesn't
- 53:35Speaker 1: want to do this anymore, don't want to go to
- 53:36Speaker 1: equality anymore. And she wants to live in the real
- 53:38Speaker 1: world and he said the real word is for people
- 53:40Speaker 1: who can't imagine anything better. And she says goodbye, Juliette googoole.
- 53:44Speaker 1: I'm like, hey, bitch, five minutes ago, you were invested
- 53:47Speaker 1: in this.
- 53:51Speaker 2: Human beings are complicated, as we know. There's it's not
- 53:54Speaker 2: outside the realms of possibility that you know a couple
- 53:56Speaker 2: of minutes, ten minutes, minutes earlier could be like, oh
- 53:59Speaker 2: my bestie is so oh my best is crazy to
- 54:01Speaker 2: make that transition, But what has really changed. They did
- 54:04Speaker 2: not do enough to show how immersed in this fantasy
- 54:08Speaker 2: world and this fantasy life.
- 54:10Speaker 1: Juliet is because it got her in a.
- 54:12Speaker 2: Detrimental effect you can have on the real world.
- 54:15Speaker 1: Because it got her into danger because they went to
- 54:17Speaker 1: this place and whatnot. But it's like, why don't you
- 54:19Speaker 1: just do a quality at your house? Then? What? Why
- 54:22Speaker 1: is she now suddenly crazy? It's like, no, you were heavy,
- 54:25Speaker 1: heaven heavily. You were heavily invested in this story and
- 54:28Speaker 1: this world two minutes ago, and now she's cooged because
- 54:31Speaker 1: she wants them to I get it. That's to wrap
- 54:33Speaker 1: up the episode, but silly parody. Weird because the two
- 54:36Speaker 1: months later and they the place in New York has
- 54:39Speaker 1: received the manuscript, but it's not what they're looking for.
- 54:42Speaker 1: But Moxer for being rejected much as willis your letter
- 54:44Speaker 1: all the way from New York and that's it, Like
- 54:47Speaker 1: that's the end of it.
- 54:49Speaker 2: Well, no, it's not quite because Home has written his.
- 54:51Speaker 1: Own but I mean Lisa's menu, that's the end of
- 54:54Speaker 1: it quite, Like, well, we did make sure that Qualia
- 54:56Speaker 1: is never mentioned again, so that's it. It'll be an.
- 55:00Speaker 2: I was punchline to have Juliet have written her own
- 55:01Speaker 2: Equality of book and it actually becomes she becomes like.
- 55:03Speaker 1: J K just about to say I can't believe that
- 55:07Speaker 1: the punchline here wasn't because I thought it was going
- 55:09Speaker 1: to be. Unfortunately we already have a similar story from
- 55:11Speaker 1: one Juliet blah blah. Yes, And I was like, why
- 55:14Speaker 1: is it was right there? Yeah? The fucking payoff was right.
- 55:18Speaker 3: Yeah, and have like as the author of a Juliet
- 55:21Speaker 3: k Yes bowling. Yeah, he gave us nothing. There was
- 55:25Speaker 3: no wrap up, no parody, It was just bar wocking.
- 55:28Speaker 3: Her list is saying, well, a least you got a
- 55:29Speaker 3: letter from New York. There was an actual joke there.
- 55:32Speaker 3: Why didn't you give it to me?
- 55:33Speaker 1: Mom?
- 55:34Speaker 2: They gave us another jake and said, well, Homer said,
- 55:36Speaker 2: I'm gonna I'm running my own book based on my
- 55:37Speaker 2: experiences as are dead. Except he's seeing what like someone's
- 55:41Speaker 2: a hot dog and they're dancing donuts or something like that,
- 55:44Speaker 2: and he just basically comes coclusion, writing his heart.
- 55:46Speaker 1: Guess what, yeah it is. Yeah, you've shown that with
- 55:49Speaker 1: this episode, Ryan Kelly. Is that meant to be his
- 55:52Speaker 1: way of saying sorry, at least you tried. At least
- 55:59Speaker 1: you tried in deed, So I'm sorry, Brian, but man,
- 56:02Speaker 1: fuck you LISTA. The Drama Queen is an episode we
- 56:04Speaker 1: shall not be revisiting anytime soon. Never. I haven't said revisiting, revisiting,
- 56:09Speaker 1: will not be revisiting this episode. It was not good.
- 56:11Speaker 2: No, but you get you know for that boy playing
- 56:13Speaker 2: the Simpsons theme over the closing credits is it.
- 56:16Speaker 1: Do you think they got to the end of the
- 56:17Speaker 1: episode when we need to live them with something good
- 56:22Speaker 1: they were thinking that instead you just get oh for it? Boy.
- 56:26Speaker 1: The singer Pat Patrick stumps he does so many kids
- 56:30Speaker 1: show theme songs. So he does the Spidy songs. That
- 56:33Speaker 1: was all the Spidy soundtracks is another one he's done,
- 56:35Speaker 1: Like he's really good.
- 56:36Speaker 2: I was reading some article the other day about Mark Mothersbaugh,
- 56:40Speaker 2: the front man from Devo okay, and he's done a
- 56:43Speaker 2: lot of soundtracks, but there was one he did the
- 56:47Speaker 2: soundtrack for some animated show or whatever, and it basically
- 56:49Speaker 2: it's just like and now I own an Ailen something.
- 56:54Speaker 2: He wasn't saying that, but someone was saying.
- 56:55Speaker 1: Like that, John love it.
- 56:56Speaker 2: So I wanted to put the extravagance, but it's like, yeah,
- 57:01Speaker 2: he gets, you know, some exorbitant amount every time it's played,
- 57:04Speaker 2: and it's played all the time.
- 57:05Speaker 1: I thought your joke was going to be he wrote
- 57:07Speaker 1: the soundtrack for a whippet.
- 57:12Speaker 2: He was able to buy a dog, and that dog
- 57:14Speaker 2: is a whibbit. I'll look it up and I'll try
- 57:18Speaker 2: and put it in some show notes or something like that, but.
- 57:21Speaker 1: We've never seen those notes.
- 57:22Speaker 2: Of course, I always have the best of intentions, much
- 57:25Speaker 2: like this episode. But guess what I was full shot?
- 57:27Speaker 1: What do we learn? What did you learn it from
- 57:29Speaker 1: the episode?
- 57:30Speaker 2: Mister Davis that if you want to buy candy to
- 57:32Speaker 2: share it. May I recommend a tasty almond joy I
- 57:35Speaker 2: won't or a twist.
- 57:36Speaker 1: It's only if I don't want to kiss Nickoler, because
- 57:38Speaker 1: if I eat something with Owen's in it and kis Nickoler,
- 57:40Speaker 1: she's in trouble. Well, that's right.
- 57:42Speaker 2: What did I say yesterday about?
- 57:44Speaker 1: Because what was it? We dissed Crispy Cream donuts. I'm
- 57:48Speaker 1: not gonna lie. You showed me the pistachio donut from
- 57:50Speaker 1: Krispy Kreme, which she's going it still looks they pour
- 57:53Speaker 1: the stuff on top, because you actually watch them when
- 57:54Speaker 1: they rip over that donut. It looks shit inside probably does.
- 57:57Speaker 1: It looks looks thick, It doesn't look doesn't look how
- 58:00Speaker 1: it doesn't delicious, But they pour their melk. They pour
- 58:02Speaker 1: the melted stuff on top, so it looks all smoothing cream.
- 58:04Speaker 1: That's not what you're getting when you bite into that
- 58:05Speaker 1: don Oh no, probably not nola dry and yeah good
- 58:09Speaker 1: Krispy Creme. Don't rate it at all, a lam a dream.
- 58:12Speaker 1: I know they're ne gonna sponsor the show. I just
- 58:13Speaker 1: don't rate Krispy Cremes. Let us know the listeners mailbag
- 58:15Speaker 1: or four finger discount dot com dot you Chrispy Cream donuts,
- 58:18Speaker 1: you rate them or not, so that next week you're
- 58:22Speaker 1: gonna start a Simpson's campaign and they'll be like, who
- 58:25Speaker 1: should we sponsored. I'm like, oh, no, delete delete dumb button,
- 58:32Speaker 1: dumb but no, no, it's not interesting. It probably was. It's
- 58:39Speaker 1: not interesting. I'm gonna leave that in absolutely zero interest.
- 58:44Speaker 1: And what I was about to say, what did I learn?
- 58:46Speaker 1: I'm just trying to find something here. I learned that
- 58:50Speaker 1: one thing, one thing the bullies were correct about is
- 58:52Speaker 1: that you can't eat peaches without cream. That's I'm not
- 58:56Speaker 1: a big peaches guy. Nah, it's one of those there's
- 58:58Speaker 1: millions of them, millions of peaches, usually for free.
- 59:03Speaker 2: It feels like one of those fruits that I should like. Hmmm,
- 59:08Speaker 2: you know you look so juicy and sweet and delaightful.
- 59:11Speaker 1: This is gonna sound silly, but do you have any
- 59:13Speaker 1: emotional connection to a type of fruit? I have an
- 59:15Speaker 1: emotional connection to nectarines because the house growing up in
- 59:18Speaker 1: nor Lane had a really good nectarine tree at the
- 59:20Speaker 1: front that always kicked us during the spring, and the
- 59:24Speaker 1: nectarenes were massive and huge, and basically the neighborhood would
- 59:27Speaker 1: come in. It was like the neighborhood's nectarine tree that'd
- 59:30Speaker 1: come just put the nectarines off and just grow new ones.
- 59:32Speaker 1: Blah blah blah. It was just it was great. And
- 59:34Speaker 1: we grew in a tourene tree here because I was like,
- 59:36Speaker 1: I have this nostalgia for having a nectarine tree. I
- 59:39Speaker 1: don't actually like eating nectarines, but I love the idea
- 59:42Speaker 1: of a nectarine tree. It's like nostalgia for me.
- 59:44Speaker 2: Well, I certainly don't have as emotional connection as you
- 59:46Speaker 2: do that. It was a lovely story, Dan, though, because
- 59:49Speaker 2: we had a little kum quote tree growing up.
- 59:52Speaker 1: But excuse me, what come quartz?
- 59:56Speaker 2: Oh local fruit that excludes in your mouth.
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: I'm not a fan of those either, But I think
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: the way you.
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: Would the sky is like, oh, you know, comes the season,
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: and yeah, the tree is just bursting with these lovely
- 1:00:14Speaker 2: things you can eat. To quote Leonardo DiCaprio in that movie,
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: don't look up that. No one never thinks about it anymore.
- 1:00:20Speaker 2: We really did have it all, didn't we We still
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: do to some degree. But no, I don't think I
- 1:00:24Speaker 2: have as emotional connection.
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: To fruit as you do.
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: Although because this is very this is tangentially fruit related.
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: But I was in Alder the other day, and you know,
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: it's we're coming on a Hot Cross buns are were
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: and we got variants, variants love them.
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: You've got like six different packets or whatever. You said.
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: Yeah, well yeah, but I haven't done that yet because
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: the cinnabon ones are coming out of the end of
- 1:00:46Speaker 2: the week. But I was in Aldi, so they got
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: their versions of hot Cross buns. They got a BANOFFI version.
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: You know how I feel about but get you in
- 1:00:58Speaker 2: the I'm getting that.
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: He hot Cross buns.
- 1:01:02Speaker 2: Yeah, well I had one with my coffee.
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: The other was like, holy shit, this is good. Lively
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: in my best life.
- 1:01:11Speaker 2: So yeah, that's my emotional connection.
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: Your delivery there was very norm esque, like the other day,
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: you're doing normally Donald? Yeah, what l two. That's how
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: he told his story. It's always kind of going, yes,
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: he has ah. You know norm No one respected him
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: in the It was too late before people started to
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: really respect Norman Donald. Yeah. I think the true comedians
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: comedians respected if you knew, you knew.
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: Yeah, and now everyone was like, oh my god, we
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: didn't know how good we had it.
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: Yeah, from this day forward, your name will be it
- 1:01:45Speaker 1: is the guy Davis new Name Championship for season twenty

- 1:02:55Speaker 2: Gets a brief reprise or a respite from yeah, from
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: just being playing old Phil Hawk.
