- 0:00Speaker 1: It's your early morning praise party. I am Sherri Mackey,
- 0:04Speaker 1: and it's time right now for Today's Word. Peace. in
- 0:09Speaker 1: the middle of the storm. Psalms 57.1 says, Be merciful
- 0:14Speaker 1: and gracious to me, O God. Be merciful and gracious
- 0:18Speaker 1: to me, for my soul takes refuge and finds shelter
- 0:21Speaker 1: and confidence in you. Yes, in the shadow of your
- 0:24Speaker 1: wings will I take refuge and be confident until calamities
- 0:28Speaker 1: and destructive storms are past. Life isn't one long, beautiful,
- 0:33Speaker 1: sunny day. No, at some point, every one of us
- 0:36Speaker 1: will face a storm. Sometimes it comes suddenly, a difficult diagnosis,
- 0:41Speaker 1: the loss of a job, financial pressure, trouble in your marriage,
- 0:45Speaker 1: a wayward child, a broken relationship, or a disappointment you
- 0:49Speaker 1: never saw coming. Some storms pass quickly like an afternoon
- 0:54Speaker 1: rain shower. Others feel like a hurricane that refuses to move.
- 0:59Speaker 1: And when you're in the middle of it, it can
- 1:01Speaker 1: be difficult to imagine that the storm will ever end.
- 1:05Speaker 1: But here's what you've got to remember. The storm is
- 1:08Speaker 1: not permanent. David said he would take refuge under the
- 1:12Speaker 1: shadow of God's wings until the calamities and the destructive
- 1:16Speaker 1: storms passed. That word, until. It's powerful. It means there
- 1:22Speaker 1: is an expiration date on the storm. Come on, Jesus.
- 1:28Speaker 1: It may be raining today, but the rain will not
- 1:30Speaker 1: last forever. The winds may be strong right now, but eventually,
- 1:34Speaker 1: guess what? They're going to calm down. So when the
- 1:36Speaker 1: storm comes, don't allow fear or frustration to make your
- 1:39Speaker 1: decisions for you. When emotions are running high, our thoughts
- 1:43Speaker 1: can become scattered. When we become impatient, angry, discouraged, and
- 1:47Speaker 1: desperate to make things happen... But see, sometimes the wisest
- 1:51Speaker 1: thing you can do is to simply wait. Be still. Pray.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Take a deep breath. Seek God's wisdom. Do what you
- 2:00Speaker 1: know to do and trust God with what you can't control. Y'all,
- 2:04Speaker 1: I love this reminder and I have to remind myself
- 2:07Speaker 1: all the time. Let your emotions subside before you decide.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Let your emotions subside before you decide. You don't have
- 2:17Speaker 1: to solve everything today. You don't have to respond to
- 2:20Speaker 1: every person today. You don't have to make a major
- 2:23Speaker 1: decision simply because you're not comfortable with where you are.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Give God room to speak. The enemy would love for
- 2:31Speaker 1: you to make a permanent decision based on a temporary situation.
- 2:35Speaker 1: But God is saying, stay under my wings. Let me
- 2:39Speaker 1: be your refuge until the storm passes. When the storm
- 2:43Speaker 1: is over, you'll look back and realize that God was
- 2:45Speaker 1: with you the entire time. So today, if you're in
- 2:49Speaker 1: a storm, don't panic. Don't quit. Don't make a permanent
- 2:52Speaker 1: decision in your temporary storm. Come on, Jesus. You stay anchored.
- 2:56Speaker 1: You stay prayerful. You stay close to God. The storm
- 2:59Speaker 1: may be loud, but your God is so much greater. Lord,
- 3:03Speaker 1: calm our hearts in the storms of life when our
- 3:05Speaker 1: emotions are high and we don't know what to do.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Help us to slow down. Seek your wisdom and trust
- 3:11Speaker 1: your timing. Keep us from making decisions out of fear, frustration,
- 3:15Speaker 1: and desperation. Remind us that every storm has an until.
- 3:21Speaker 1: and that you will be with us until it passes.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Help us, God, remain anchored in your presence, confident in
- 3:28Speaker 1: your promise, and peaceful in the midst of the storm.
- 3:31Speaker 1: In Jesus' name. Hey, now that's your word for today.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Take it, apply it to your everyday life, and you
- 3:36Speaker 1: continue to be encouraged and inspired. It's your early morning
- 3:39Speaker 1: praise party. I am Sherri Mackey.
