- HV161.mp3 Oh, I bet you can't hear us again. Hang on. There we go. There we go. It's okay, I've quit sound source. I've quit sound source, so we're good. Oh. my god Are you recording? Yep. Yep. It's all good. Could you just uninstall that? Could you do us a favor and just uninstall that app? You're not using it and all it does is screw it up. I use it for my teams meetings to improve the audio quality. There is no such thing as improving the audio quality It's not possible. Give up. Other people don't have podcast microphones. And you've got to do what you can to to make. Oh, so it's all about the performativity. Is that right, Andrew? Like you've shown what you've got, what you're capable of, and you don't want people on the other on the other end going, Oh, this is I don't use my podcast mic when I'm on Teams calls because it's too embarrassing. But what I do do is I recognise that the audio quality that they're recording with is terrible. So I have to do all these like I have like a multi-chain like audio effects channel through teams to try and yeah improve it. High pass filters, low pass filters, you know, the whole thing. And when you get to the end of each team's meeting, you've got like action items that every person has to improve their audio for the next time. Well it's eleven PM here. It's nine p.m. where you are, Andrew. What time is it for you, cream filling? It's ten pm in all is well. I'm still the cream filling for one more time. I like cream filling, Jason. Oh, that's Andrew's first day of holidays and he's feeling well. He's feeling well for this report. We have to make it hard for you to remove. The rest of the recording will be filled with references to Andrew's gaffe. So he can't remove it. Correct. You bastard. You should never have Andrew should never record a podcast at nine o'clock at night. It's bad news. Sometimes at three in the afternoon it's also bad news, but you know, we work with what we got. We do. This is the host hand we were dealt. And people continue to give us money, uh, supporting this show and all of its extra. Excellent quality and consistency. We have a new one prime plus member. New one prime plus member. Pow pow pow powerton. Thank you, Joshua B. What you want me to make sounds? You already did the sounds. Thank you, Joshua B. Do you think people ever mishear that as Joshua Tree? All the time. Assuming that he walks around saying his, you know, second initial rather than his actual full surname. Hi, I'm Joshua B. Sorry was that Joshua Tree? So Martin, usually usually it's me welcoming One prime plus members with something. Given that you've just launched into that, I think you need to finish what you started. So can you give us a bit of what actually insulting him? You want me to insult him? Maybe sing something from the Joshua Tree album. Can you actually remind me? Like I'm I I know you two but I don't remember that well. Uh isn't is is one is one love on that album? You seem to know pretty well Andrew, why don't you s sell this off here? Please never sing anything you two ever. And any listener of this show under Undoubtedly has Songs of Innocence still in their music library. So you could just go to that album. We're actually gonna we're gonna publish that whole album to our podcast feed and make it undeletable. I wonder what happened. We should do that. We should put in a little special feed. Just like a a a five second podcast of like a little tiny clip. And maybe just a picture of us just putting our fingers and thumbs together. That was awkward. I remember seeing that, and I think that was one of the first moments that I saw. Look, okay, maybe not the first moment. There were lots of awkward moments in Apple keynotes before then, but that one was just how did they ever think that that would work on any kind of cool level? So bad. I just don't I still think it's the coolest thing that's ever happened in town. And weren't they like that? Didn't say like we're gonna put it on your phones right now. And that was like the moment that they they pushed it out. Like someone was sitting in the back room waiting for that moment to press the button and like that. Oop, finger contact. And then everybody stuck with that. I think I still have it in my collection somewhere. But then you think about the fact that there would have been a delay with a live stream, so then they're accounting for that. Like what if someone actually got it on their phone or their iPod like second off because they're watching it in I don't know New Delhi or something. iPod I think that's how you're supposed to. I saw some I saw some iPod touches for sale today and I was very surprised. Just because I forgot they existed. With that size and thickness. Oh, if only. I had an iPod touch. I loved my iPod Touch so much. I played forensic on it on the bus every single day. Forensic. Listening to uh podcasts while playing forensic on the five oh two. Man, memories. The old five oh two. So Joshua B, thank you for bringing Don't start singing memories. Yes, thank you, Joshua B. No, nope. Next topic. We can't go to the next topic because this is This is my post-it note that I put on my put on my screen. Now it's not a one prime plus membership, but it's a it's an official shout out because I have to give credit to Mgagie. Real real quick before you dive into that, um you put that on a post-it note on your monitor. We we've had a document for about five years where we put these kinds of items to talk about. So I just wanted to remind you that we've got a And it's a great system. It's a great system, Jason. I I don't think we should ever leave it. I love it. It's great. Yeah. Yeah. Well I we're actually gonna move to just post-it notes only on Andrew's monitor. It's gonna be a little hard to do at first, but that's where we're gonna go with everything. So the next time I edit, he's he's gonna warn us every time we have a topic change that I then have to edit out to make it seem like we knew what we were doing. Yes, exactly. So my post now I was gonna put I I just didn't have time to put it down in Hack and D. Maggie, my s my sister, bless her, just threw money at us this week. She didn't sign up for one prime plus. I don't know, I'm not even sure she's a one prime plus member. She might be. We'd have to check the records. If money exchanged hands, you are a one prime plus. So we'll have to we we need to make sure she is on that one prime plus feed. Um but not that she would know very not that she would know how to use it. If we gave my sister another project. private feed. Oh my God. She would look at it and go like, I don't know what to do. I'd be giving tech support calls, you know, responses to her how to add it to her podcast feed. So Well thank you, Maggie. But it good on you, Margie. Appreciate it. Very kind. Yeah, I'll add a post-it note to my monitor to make sure that we get that feed set. Oh thanks, Jason. So yeah, there we go. Oh, and look, it's been added to it's been added to our hack MD notes now. So that's good. And it's that easy. Like Jason just typed it straight in there and I can see every time. That yeah, it was it was crazy. It was like the future. Prob probably quicker than pulling open the drawer, finding a pen, you know. Now the next item says Matthias Mini Tactile Pro follow,- butup I don'tt recall puting it in here. Huh, that's weird. Is that because you want more keyboard torque? Is that the I just assumed you put it's got your emoji in front of it. I just thought you put that in there. No. No. I mean I'm happy to discuss it, but I don't know. to say. I have two questions. Okay, I have some questions. Are you still using it? Yes. And second question, what about it do you now regret about that keyboard that you thought it did that it does not? It does everything that I want it to do, actually. It's um it's like it it feels modern in the sense that it you know connects nicely to my Mac. Uh it's not using some ADB connector, although it is using micro USB But it doesn't matter. It doesn't bother me because it just bugs it doesn't matter. Um I mean it's I love the I love the keycaps, I love the the typeface, uh the way that it feels under the fingers. I mean it is loud. I'll grant you that. Right? So it does disturb everyone within a five kilometer radius. So I suppose maybe that's a flaw. But you know, I enjoy the feedback. I'm certainly reminded that I'm typing while I'm typing. So it's good. Has Natasha asked you to remove the keyboard from No, other than laughing at me. At the beginning, she's been very tolerant and I or has she said, wow, you really love that keyboard. Maybe you should use that at work instead. Because that's better. I've been taking it to and from. You are carrying a keyboard with you to and from work? I have been, yeah, it's not that bad. In fact, somewhere, I can't remember where it was in the marketing, it was even suggested that one could put it in one's laptop bag. My gosh. He's that guy. I'm not saying I'll do it forever, but I thought I'd try. You have turned a corner. my friend. I'm corner is that there's just we've got so many corners. I've lost track. Which corner's this one? I think this keyboard is is is a life-changing event for you. This is this is big. He's carrying keyboards to and from. He's got he's got shoulder pain. His keyboard is loud. This is I may not do it forever. I think I liked the idea. Look, originally I had a kind of a keyboard setup which was obviously not carrying it to and from. Like I had the same one at work as I did at home. foolishly introduced inconsistencies. So I thought, what would it be like to maintain consistency by carrying said keyboard to and from work? And it hasn't been that bad. Like it's a it's a chunky thing, but it's actually to me it's much less of a hassle to take a Mac Mini M four in a little carrying case and the keyboard in the bag that I'm already taking to work than taking a laptop to hook up to a monitor which then alters the desktop. Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. So you're carrying a keyboard. Okay. You just casually slipped in oh I'm also carrying a Mac mini in my backpack to and from. What do you what yep they make portable computers? I I don't want one. You're taking your Mac. You're taking your Mac ready to work. Yeah, I was wondering how long this would take before it came up, but just didn't relevant, you know. Oh my gosh. It's like the most relevant thing there could be. So I have to remove my earphones. I will show both of you and we'll put this in the the show notes of the chapter up. I'm gonna show the co-host now so we can get the appropriate reaction. Okay. This guy is carrying a Mac Vini in his backpack to and from my ephones back in. Oh he's got a lunchbox. He's got a lunchbox for his computer. So for people who can't see this, and there will be a picture in the show notes, check the show notes in the chapter artwork. It's just a little protective carry case with a nifty little handle. Wow. And a zip. Is it foam inside? There it is. Wow. Look at that. And it's just nestled in there. There's this beautiful little I feel like this is what Steve Jobs envisioned kind of with the Power Mac Cube G4, but it was just ahead of its time. Just this little Mac that you could take in a carry case with a job's in a handle. Wow. Beautiful So you roll up to work with that. What like what do you do? You unplug your Pentium from the you know. See you you think this sounds foolish because I'm carrying a computer to and from work. Everyone who carries a laptop is doing the same thing. And yes, A laptop is convenient in the sense that oh yeah, I've got the screen and I can use it to and from you know work or in between or whatever, but suddenly you plug it into a desktop, right? Like an actual monitor, and how many nerds out there go, oh the, monitor settings. Do I use it in clamshell mode or is it open? Where do I place the display? How does it it's it's suddenly complicates the whole thing. And I'm a single display kind of guy. So the idea of carrying a little cube around basic oh no, it's a cube in and works exactly the same way as it at home as it does at work, would it it's actually less hassle. And not to mention, I would have to carry a USB C Ethernet adapter around. Because I have to use Ethernet in this study. I can't get Wi-Fi across the house here. So introducing a laptop would actually be seriously painful compared to having this Mac Mini in a carry bag. So what if you have to do you have meetings in other rooms and do you like have to shut down your Mac mini and I don't take computers to meetings. Okay, okay. Okay. packs it up in the little case, carries it to the meeting room 15 minutes in advance, gets everything set up, and then has the meeting. No, seriously, all the meetings that I have are either in person with people who I'm looking at or they're on Teams. So if I'm on Teams, I'm on my computer, and not once I think in the whole time I've been with my current employer have I taken a laptop or other similar device to a meeting because I find if I'm writing or typing things, I'm not listening. So I have an answer for everything as you can see. But um you think You might think it's strange, but I think if you tried this lifestyle, you'd go, Wow, like I have an iPad when I need it for portable computing and when I take the Mac mini, it's lighter and it plugs into the monitor. No problems. I love this. I'm so glad that you added this follow-up item. I did not, but I'm glad you enjoyed it. Taking a big turn. I did not see this guy. This is no, no. You just you sc you pick you just scratch at that surface and boy. What are you gonna find under there? A Mac Mini in a in a tiny carrying case, it turns out. I I except like if I were pressed in an emergency with work, not having a laptop would mean oh I couldn't do that thing, but I have an iPad and most of the things I can do, even Final Cut Pro, if I had to do a Final Cut Pro project, I can do it on the iPad with a new library. So you bring in a mouse with you as well? No. No, no, no. I have the mouse and the trackpad at work already. It's just the keyboard that's different. Okay. Oh man. But I don't know if this is forever, but I really like the setup. And and how long have you been uh I'm gonna drop it, I swear. But um how long has it been going on? I've only done it like for because I had a bit of a holiday around the Easter long weekend with family, you know, birthdays and a little trip and such. So I had basically did it for like a week. Before that break. But you but time enough time enough to buy a little time enough to buy a little suitcase. Oh no no no. This Smack Mini thing has been going since um Yeah. Oh. Okay. Has it? Actually, maybe it might have been the beginning the beginning of the year, but it's been the several months at first. New months of it. Uh yeah. I mean it's a it's a habit now, clearly. Like it's not just a trial period. Trial period's over. Not once has anyone ever looked at me and gone, who's that freak with the carry bag? Like they just go he's carrying a case of something. Man. I'm sure my colleagues think I'm absurd, but they're very polite. Tell you what, if I worked with you, that would have been day one. This is my kind of guy. Honestly, you judge it, but if you did it for like a couple of days you'd go, this kinda makes sense, and I don't have to worry about laptops with displays anymore. And how do I plug this in and keep it charged? I never have to charge this thing. It's like a it's like a LAN party but less fun. Does your work network just take the Ethernet Jack? It's all happy. I plug in Ethernet at home and I plug in Ethernet at work. Or I use a hotspot if there's a problem and it's fine. Okay. Wow. Wow. Everything is set up and ready to go. Kind of like if I had a docking system, but there's no dock, it's just plugging the cables and it works. That's actually a good tip for people that work in an office too. I I have found uh or I should say I have heard so just to cover my own ass here, um at corp corporate type environments often you know how everything's always blocked when you join the Wi-Fi? Just throw Ethernet on there, and it's basically wide open. Do whatever you want. So there you go. It's a workplace. I would never say you were. Yeah, but what I'm saying is it's like it it sounds like it's complicated and annoying and hefty. But it's easier. There's no Is it because I'm an o I'm an old guy and I'm worried about like active directory and all that kind of shit? Like that's all not relevant anymore. No, it's we're far past that, Andrew. That's that's that's in the past.. Okay, good I'm glad you enjoyed that. That was amazing. Alright, we'll have a note in the we'll have a a note in the show notes uh for a link to purchase said carrying case uh in martin.com slash safe. And you too could become a carry around desktop kind of guy, which might I add, was the entire appeal. Like again, you're laughing at me. Original classic Macintosh, right? The first Macintosh 128K, a carry handle. So don't go laughing at me. It's bred, it's born into the ethos of the bread of the Mac. Well, I'm tempted to get one of those little lunch. boxes. I don't even have a Mac Mini. Actually I do have a Mac Mini, but it's not the right Mac Mini for that bag. There is actually a larger one than this which allows you to fit a uh a wireless Apple keyboard and Magic Mouse or trackpad. And you can take the entire desktop setup other than the display if you want to in a larger version. I lied earlier. I do have one more question. This is the listeners have dropped off big time, but yeah. Those cases, I I just I have to know for my own my own you know Case like that for an item, whatever the thing is. Did did that one smell horrifically like chemicals when you got it and you had to like air it out for a week before you opened it? No? No. Not at all. Oh, okay. Good. I'm glad that problem's been solved. No, it doesn't taste or smell like I've been uh poisoned. I'm not licking or smelling anything weirdly, it's just a uh Okay normal case that arrived. Jason, I know you know about if Mal. I feel a bit sorry for the FML guy, which is a w uh what an app wrapper for the Fastmail app. Is that what we call it? That's what we're calling it. Um it was good. We loved it, right? And I still have it installed. Um, but then Fastmail came out with their own branded version, which apparently isn't as good according to the Fmail guy. I'm actually back on Fmail because I feel sorry for him. Anyway, by the c by the by, the F ML guy Has taken an is developed another app. It's called Quit App. So you might be familiar from a long time ago with an app called Quitter by Marco Arment. The guy that was on Martin's podcast. He was on Martin's podcast. Um the the the RSS podcast. He was a guest on that one time. Anyway, this quit quit app is by the F MAL three guy and it's like A better version of that. You can say here's all my apps and you can set rules for when they quit, right? So I am I don't know, I think there's two different types of people in this world. There are people who like load applications and just load 'em and leave 'em. Load 'em and leave 'em, load 'em and leave 'em. And then there's people like me who is like load use quit. Load use quit. Load use quit. And I think it comes from my long history of resources. limited computers, you don't leave stuff running when you're not using them. So quit app is kind of like a middle ground on that. With these RAM prices, how could you afford it? Exactly right. So now it's load. Let QuidApp decide when it's going to quit. Move on with your life. And it's really nice, it's got a good UI. I'm using it. I use it to quit apps that I don't I use and then just they go away. It's it sounds like the actual marketing copy to me. That sounded perfect. Yeah, it's like not. I don't understand w how I would use it though. Like let me think here. How do I use it? Let me tell you how I use it. Because if I if I see an app in my dock, I see an app in my doc and I'm like, oh I don't want that running. Um I I close it. I thought But that's that that's an extra step, right? So for instance, I don't Oh, yeah. And downloading a specialist app is a good one. Two great examples here. Okay. Okay. Now you will be aware that I've recently um I've recently divorced myself from one password. And instead I'm using a belly using the Apple Passwords app. Okay. It's not great. It's a terrible app, but it's doing what I need it to do. But when I load it, okay. Usually I'm in and out. I'm just trying to get a little bit of information and I want to move on. So after ten minutes, if passwords has been. been running after 10 minutes, it quits. Similarly preview, you open PDFs all the time. All the time you're opening PDFs. Like preview ends up just being loaded in the background all the time. I don't like that. I it annoys me when I'm not using it. So after ten minutes, I quit preview. Just quit. It'll quickly load again if I ever need it. But when I don't need it, quit it. Ten minutes. I have to say look, I commend the person who thought this up, designed it. It shipped it because I couldn't. Okay? I don't know this stuff. And I admire you, Andrew, for wanting to use something like this. But I really I think it fits your ethos of using something that is an extra step to make your life easier with more to think about. 'Cause I have to s I have to pro the 'cause I just quit that I have to program those rules. Yeah, I can't. You know what I mean? It's like when everyone said that workflow and then shortcuts would change the world and I'm like, I don't see how this makes my life quicker in any way. I'm sorry all the shorts cut shorts. Shortcuts people, but I'm designing workflows to do something I could do in a couple of taps, so it just doesn't really you you can design a shortcut in three hours to save you two seconds. Exactly. Short shortcuts, I agree with you, Mart.in Shortcuts is whenever I see anything that shortcuts based on the same shortcut to more workshop. No, I'll forget that I have it. I'll spend four hours trying to figure it out. I'll run it once. I'll forget that it exists. And then eight months later when I try and run it again That's but I don't cast you. into the you know the dustbin with this or say like you because I understand that it's fun, like it's an element of computing. I admire that you want to do it, but I I don't necessarily think Exactly and this is not a shortcut, this is an app. So it's absolutely reliable. Does it support shortcuts? I don't think so. Yeah, can you make a shortcut to the shortcut that with all of your things but reloads it in ten minutes when you realize you didn't have to What happens if you accidentally quit quit app Oh jeez. in a a hole like it's like the the loop with a snake is the snake's eating its tail at that point you've broken the space time continuum with that one. How do you quit quit up you quit yourself? Yeah could, you add QuidApp to itself to quit after 10 minutes? Well now I'm tempted to try it. And then in 15 minutes he's like, why the hell is this thing not working? My computer will explode. There you go. I tried to m I tried to bring you guys something nice and novel and interesting and you've just shit can't it, but that's okay. No, I love it. I think it's great and it's on brand for you. Well done, FML Guy, and well done Andrew, for doing something interesting. There will there will be people that will hear you talk about that and be very excited. Yes. I'm excited for you. It will not be Maggie. She will have chinned out. Yeah, she'll have chinned out of this bit. She she actually listens to our show. She is like, I don't like the tech stuff Trouble with this episode so far. Alright, rapid fire. Next topic. Come on, we got another. Get out of this. Go, go, go. I've got follow-up for you on the JBL Tour Pro 3s. Um, the follow-up is simple. They are still incredible. We did the auracast thing super great. It worked very nicely. Um, Valerie did the like plug the case into a switch, flawless, just a great set of headphones. That's that's it. Just Really good all around. I continue to be you know an unknowing influencer and I can't wait to hear how you're carrying a desktop computer to and from some ridiculous location in the near future. Any day now. It's probably gonna happen. Can I just say when you're when you're sharing your audio with Valerie, I've got to say your aura must be unbeatable. That's that's a the young kids will get that reference. See? See we gotta we gotta bring down uh we we we don't wan Okay. That was that. You tell yourself that's working, Andrew, for us. Yeah. I bet they're there's super hip to what we're laying down. Anyway, listeners, get ready for our TikTok channel in which I do dances with various uh retro themed universe typeface mechanical keyboards. Oh I can't wait for that. That's gonna be great. Yep, that's true. I have another another follow-up item. Um I have purchased a an obscene number of CDs while here on vacation. What's a C D? It's a little it's a little flat. It looks like a little like a coaster. Uh it's got a ho Yeah, it's got a hole in the middle. It spins real fast and um sound comes out. What's it s what does C D stand for? Uh compact disc with a C. Mmm. With a C Right. Okay. Not a K, because those are floppy. Sometimes. That's it. I just bought I'm we're buying a crap load of CDs. It's still I think in My you know, everybody's all about streaming. They pay obscene amounts of money every single month for shit they don't use. Not a thing, but I think Yeah, I'm getting CDs that I that I couldn't get anywhere for like 630 yen each, which is like $4.50. And I'm getting a whole album. What brand? Are you too are you talking like verbatim, verbatim, TDK? What are we talking about C V off the back of a truck? These are these are uh factory pressed discs uh from from the original manufacturer. Like with music on them? Yes, that's correct. Oh okay. So not CD R like with music on them. Or C D A to Bs. No. Okay, okay. And also, just side tangent on CDs in Japan, there is a interesting phenomenon that I'm finding in that first of all, their packaging for CDs is always like over the top. It is it's in this book. with like 50 million pages of stuff and extra crap. And there's almost always a Blu-ray disc that comes with the CD that'll be like music videos and stuff like that for just like a normal CD price, which is just I I don't know how they're making money with all of the packaging and the cool stuff that comes with it, but it's it's a very different experience buying CDs here versus what I've done in you know in the past. So very interesting. Yeah not off the battery just is so cheap. So so cheap. It's It's an incredible value. I thought you got your American CDs from a uh Red Box. Uh no, no. Redbox is gone. I think Redbox is gone, isn't it? You did that. Remember when you were were they when you were taking them all and ripping them? But they were actually not C D's, were they? They were more like DVDs. Those were blue rays. Blue ray in a red box. Yeah. Um Blue ray in a red box. No wonder they went bust. You got it. So there you go. CDs. Okay. Uh stop streaming crap and just buy music. It's way better. Rant. Also, quickly, Tower Records is still here. For those of you that remember Tower Records, it's popular as ever. And it's consistently incredibly full with people looking at browsing and buying physical music. So people should be doing that. Stop, stop with the streaming crap. It's garbage. You're wasting your money. And now I'm done ranting. I went to the I went to the uh Nintendo Museum in Kyoto again for the second time now. And s I think we were there for seven and a half hours, which is a very long day, but it felt like twenty minutes. It was that because you guys lost so much so much cool stuff to do there. It's so enjoyable. Um if you ever thought you wanted to go. to that or ever have the chance to try and go to that and I say try because everything is a lottery you have to enter the lottery to try to get tickets whether you live here or not it doesn't matter everyone's in the same lottery um but I mean I've we the two times we've tried to go, we've been able to get tickets. So uh I don't want to say it's like a sure thing, but the lottery's every month, so you can try every month for the next month. So we we did that. And um yeah, if you' everve thought you wanted to or you can, absolutely go. It is one of the most incredible pieces of history in video for video games just ever. It's got like every game that's ever been made, all the various consoles and systems. And I think my favorite part is the concept art area where you see actual like hand-drawn stuff from the creators of this is what Metroid we thought it was gonna look what she was gonna look like. Now she looks like this. Um, that was really cool, and then also prototypes of Of controllers, consoles, accessories, so like the GameCube controller, here's like a crappy thing made out of clay. Does this even feel good in the hands? Then they would like chop a 64 controller in half and like put some more clay in the middle so it's angled differently. All that kind of history is there as well, which is just super cool. To see something like Nintendo from the beginning of the Hanafuda cards all the way to the switch two. It's Just a really cool experience. So I would say absolutely go do that if you at all can. Uh I don't think anyone cares about my UNO- I don't even know how to say it. I've been calling it Unohost why you no host it's like one of those I don't even know what they're called it's like an all-in-one so you install UNOhost on a server and then that allows you to install a bunch of different apps so like actual budget, shout out to Andrew. Um Yeah, all you know, just all the kinds of self-hosted crap that you'd want to do. It just makes it a nice environment to do that. So you're not futzing around with stupid Docker compose files and all that garbage. Yeah, it's really nice. So I've been using that for a while to host a bunch of stuff and it's been good. So if you ever want to self-host, it's kind of a pretty easy WYSI-WYG way to do it. So the slogan should be You Know the Host. Like if you want to host, you know the host. Yeah, I I don't know. It was either that or I was thinking like you no host. Oh yeah. You don't have to host. I don't I don't know host. I'm just you comma no host. You no host?. Question mark You no host. Exclamation mark. So if you want to self-host stuff try that. Cool. You no host. That's it. Yeah. You went to a shrine. Another like awesome kind of bucket list. Thing of the Fushimi and Are Shrine. You've probably seen pictures of it where it has the We found that in Zelda. 10,000 We found that in Zelda. It took a long time. Where it has the ten thousand Tory gates to find and you walk through them, I think it's forget it. It was a joke that didn't land. You know the shrines in Zelda? You gotta find shrines. Yeah, of course. That's what I was trying to go with there. Laughter track in your edit, Andrew. Have we ever actually had I don't think we've ever had a laugh track. We should have a laugh track. Imagine if we actually did that to one episode. I think we'd probably lose a lot of people. And keep some weedow.s It's worth it. It's probably worth it. Um Yeah, so it was yeah, there's I think there's 10,000 gates that you walk through. Um and oh how far was it? I wanna say it was about Four or five kilometers to the top, and then you come back down. You kind of go up one way, do like a circle around the top part, and then you come back down a different way. So it's probably I don't know, 10 kilometers, maybe total with a crap ton of stairs. And we did the whole thing, which was great. We started and we ended kind of in the evening. I posted a picture of a sunset. Maybe somebody has some of you have seen it. Which was kind of just perfect. And because we went later in the day, there was less tourists there, so it felt a lot cooler to be there. And as you go further through the I'll call it a hike, kind of more and more people fall off as you go. So as you get closer to the top, you get to be more and more by yourself, which is really nice. It's like really, really crowded in the beginning. And then there's I think 14 kind of checkpoints I guess of where you can kinda bane. or like rest or like get some water or whatever and as each one you'd see like progressively less and less people which obviously I mean it's not it's not an easy thing to do but um it was really cool. It was a really cool experience and something that I think we've always wanted to do. We just never really thought it was doable. And it was. See, the more you've spoken about this, the more you've confirmed what I was thinking. But I'll have to check with my aunt Francine, who's actually a listener of this sho Hi Francine. Thank you for listening. Hi Francine. Um when I looked this up in the notes and you know searched what you had typed there, I was like, have I been there before? Because I traveled to Japan when I finished high school with my Aunt Francine, Uncle Joe, and uh was I was like, have I been there before? Because we went to Kyoto and I'm like, am I having like a blade runner, like am I having like a blade runner implanted memory moment from these photos? And I was like, I don't know. So the but the more you said it was exhausting and there were like exit points I'm Maybe we didn't. So maybe I've been there, maybe not. And we'll find out soon when Francine tells me. No, Martin, you imagined it. We didn't do such a hike. Because it looks familiar, like we went to shrines, but I it's so long ago now. Look to me it doesn't seem like something Francine would do, but you know, I'm just yeah, I could be wrong too. It just doesn't seem like her doesn't seem her thing. Do you catch up regularly? Oh, all the time. Oh, okay. Sure. On the daily, yeah. Okay. That's where I'm saying about that. This is news to me. I feel like this is a greater bombshell than my keyboard thing. You're just catching up with my aunt friend saying interstate on on the regular I will say though, I it definitely looks harder than it is. I think it's very intimidating when you kind of hear about it and see it, but I think you gotta just go for it. You know, that's a good life lesson. It is a good life lesson. It is doable. Yeah. Yeah, as we wind up this episode, I wanna just say to everybody out there listening, doesn't matter what you're doing, what you're thinking. Just go for it. Just do it. No no no no no no no. Can't say that. Oh. We can't just go for it. Okay. Is this when we find out that your slash save page has some link to a motivational speaking series or something. I have been just brought to you by Nike. No no no no no brought you canyon.blog slash save. Just gopher it. And that's not gopher as easy. Go for it. It's go for. Just go for it. Like certain like when I'm doing a web search or just go for it. I don't think anyone was confused. I look forward to your book and seminar uh seminar session titled Just Go for It, An Andrew Canyon Journey. Oh you can both provide testimonials. I I can't wait. Alright, here we go.
