UK and US condemn Joshua Wong’s 10-year sentence under Hong Kong security law
The United Kingdom and the United States have criticized a 10-year prison term handed to Hong Kong pro-democracy advocate Joshua Wong under the city’s national security legislation. Wong, aged 30, was sentenced on Thursday after pleading guilty to “foreign collusion.” He is the only person to have been prosecuted twice under the law, which critics say has been used to suppress political dissent.
