- 0:03Speaker 1: Hi, I'm Diano Mainie Reba. Here in another episode of
- 0:06Speaker 1: How High Can It Be? Happy Hour with the Tina,
- 0:09Speaker 1: my bestie of over forty years, tuning in from our
- 0:12Speaker 1: hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio, where we get together with a
- 0:15Speaker 1: little prosecco, except I forgot mine, so I'm drinking it
- 0:17Speaker 1: out of a mug some water, you know whatever, and
- 0:19Speaker 1: we recap on an episode, and today we are going
- 0:23Speaker 1: to recap be hilarious, brilliantly funny Sonny Houstin. I cried.
- 0:31Speaker 1: I laughed so hard in this episode.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Oh my God means too.
- 0:35Speaker 3: I felt like her name matched her entire persona.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Amen.
- 0:40Speaker 3: I've never met her, and I go, I had one,
- 0:44Speaker 3: you know, this podcast with listening and going, this woman
- 0:47Speaker 3: has the perfect name.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Yes, yes she does. She was just a ray of light,
- 0:53Speaker 2: and you know.
- 0:54Speaker 1: It was needed because I told her when she walked
- 0:56Speaker 1: into the studio I had met her once because I
- 0:58Speaker 1: had been on the view one time before, a couple
- 1:00Speaker 1: of years ago when I was launching a show at
- 1:03Speaker 1: the time. So she was lovely then. But you don't
- 1:05Speaker 1: get much time there to talk to the host because
- 1:08Speaker 1: they got to they got to move on, and so
- 1:11Speaker 1: she was so happy to be there, and I and
- 1:14Speaker 1: my girlfriend, my good, my dear sister, Gina Torres, was
- 1:18Speaker 1: in because I shot this in New York, and I
- 1:21Speaker 1: said to her that I was I was filming with
- 1:23Speaker 1: Sunny that day, and she texted me. She's like, can
- 1:25Speaker 1: I come and sit in? I love Sonny. I'm like absolutely,
- 1:27Speaker 1: Oh my god. She could not keep quiet. Yes, she
- 1:32Speaker 1: couldn't keep quiet. I'm like, just come and join us.
- 1:35Speaker 1: At one point was so much, But I remember saying
- 1:37Speaker 1: this Sunday. I said, Sonny, this, this podcast is about
- 1:40Speaker 1: taking a break from everything that's going on in the
- 1:42Speaker 1: world and let's just be girlfriends and talk. She got
- 1:45Speaker 1: the biggest smile on her face and you could see
- 1:48Speaker 1: it was exactly what she wanted to do.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Let's just talk.
- 1:53Speaker 3: It's a breath of fresh air.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Yes it.
- 1:57Speaker 3: I mean the whole podcast is a breath of fresh
- 1:59Speaker 3: air because it's just wonderfully light and funny and real
- 2:04Speaker 3: and just amazing. But she is, she is, She's fabulous.
- 2:10Speaker 1: I mean when she talked about Mother's Day and wanting
- 2:15Speaker 1: to go and spend it alone because her college aged
- 2:19Speaker 1: children could not make it into town. So she decides
- 2:23Speaker 1: she's going to take herself to her favorite resort in Mexico.
- 2:27Speaker 1: She's going to take her cute clothes and her beachwaar
- 2:30Speaker 1: and she's going to have her cocktails and get her
- 2:33Speaker 1: facials and eat tacos and work on her book because
- 2:37Speaker 1: she's an author. So she's like, this will be alone time.
- 2:39Speaker 1: This will be a gift for me. She says to
- 2:41Speaker 1: her husband, thank you for staying back, husband of twenty
- 2:44Speaker 1: eight years, and taking care of our dogs while I
- 2:47Speaker 1: go and take care of myself.
- 2:49Speaker 2: And on day one, who strolls up shows.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Into Mexico, Surprise.
- 2:59Speaker 2: I thought you'd missed me.
- 3:02Speaker 3: And the best part was how she described his nitpicking
- 3:07Speaker 3: at the price of the tacos, the price of the
- 3:09Speaker 3: massage where they sat in the airplane, and I was
- 3:15Speaker 3: losing it. I was cracking up because I was thinking
- 3:19Speaker 3: as I was listening, Oh, I'd be that girl that
- 3:22Speaker 3: liked the surprise visit. Ways I have all meant, I
- 3:25Speaker 3: have been mentally prepared to go on an alone trip
- 3:29Speaker 3: for the first time in my life, and I'm gonna
- 3:31Speaker 3: do this. This is gonna be great, and I'm just
- 3:34Speaker 3: gonna spend all this time on myself. And then the
- 3:37Speaker 3: minute Mike, you somebody shows up, I'd be like, I
- 3:47Speaker 3: have friends.
- 3:48Speaker 2: She has friends. I have a husband. And when Sonny's
- 3:51Speaker 2: husband showed up, she was like.
- 3:53Speaker 3: Wow, Wow, that was so funny.
- 3:58Speaker 1: And the fact that he seated to point out all
- 4:02Speaker 1: the four hundred dollars tacos, She's like, you ate three
- 4:05Speaker 1: out of the floor.
- 4:05Speaker 2: I ate one. What are we talking about here? She's
- 4:10Speaker 2: like the two hundred and fifty dollars massage. She's like,
- 4:13Speaker 2: it's my massage, it's mother's savage.
- 4:15Speaker 3: Don't look at it.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Oh my god, my favorite two?
- 4:19Speaker 3: Was this? The dishwasher or the I mean, what is
- 4:23Speaker 3: it about these men that you have to do things
- 4:27Speaker 3: like a certain way and it's the wrong. It's not wrong.
- 4:30Speaker 3: What I'm doing is not wrong.
- 4:31Speaker 2: It's not wrong. No, they say, I am told.
- 4:34Speaker 3: All the time that I don't stack the dishwasher in
- 4:38Speaker 3: the proper order.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Yes, you're talking about the fact that her husband sent
- 4:42Speaker 1: her a post a DM in her Instagram on Mother's
- 4:47Speaker 1: Day morning, pointing out that women the longer they've been married,
- 4:52Speaker 1: do a less and less a good job.
- 4:55Speaker 2: They do a poor job putting dishes in the dishwash.
- 4:58Speaker 1: That's what was her Mother's Day and he thought it
- 5:01Speaker 1: was hilarious.
- 5:03Speaker 2: And she's like me, right now, wait are you what
- 5:06Speaker 2: are you agreeing with? Pablo? Oh, it's funny.
- 5:10Speaker 1: It was funny to him. It's not money to a
- 5:12Speaker 1: woman who spent all this money. And listen that we're
- 5:15Speaker 1: being an old married couple. Here, my producer, Pablo here,
- 5:17Speaker 1: who's like in his late thirties. Pablo, Okay, I'm gonna
- 5:21Speaker 1: stack that dishwasher. I'm preparing you, son, I'm preparing you
- 5:25Speaker 1: for when you're married. Let her stuck the goddamn dishwasher
- 5:27Speaker 1: the way she wants.
- 5:28Speaker 2: If she did it. If you don't like the way
- 5:29Speaker 2: she did it, do it yourself.
- 5:31Speaker 3: But I mean, I've got I mean that that's that's happened.
- 5:33Speaker 2: In this house.
- 5:34Speaker 3: Like I will watch Mike rearrange the dishes.
- 5:38Speaker 1: That that's because he's a he's works in building homes
- 5:42Speaker 1: and electric wires.
- 5:44Speaker 3: And I've now gotten a point where if you want
- 5:46Speaker 3: to go ahead and rearrange the you do it.
- 5:50Speaker 1: There was there was there was a joke that was
- 5:52Speaker 1: going around the internet's at one point, and it said
- 5:54Speaker 1: something like, there are those in your house that stack
- 5:59Speaker 1: the dishwa washer, load the dishwasher like a fucking architect,
- 6:03Speaker 1: and then those that loaded like a raccoon on crack.
- 6:07Speaker 3: I know what I am?
- 6:10Speaker 2: What are you? You're the raccoon.
- 6:12Speaker 3: I'm the raccoon.
- 6:15Speaker 1: And your husband, who's an electrician and is precise about
- 6:18Speaker 1: his wiring and what should not cross and whatever, he's aligned, Yes,
- 6:24Speaker 1: very much. You know you would think I was, you know,
- 6:28Speaker 1: the raccoon on crack with some of the drawers I
- 6:31Speaker 1: have in my house. But then when it comes to
- 6:33Speaker 1: the dishwasher, I am adamantly the architect, which is probably
- 6:38Speaker 1: where my son.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Gets I know what you're not an architect about.
- 6:41Speaker 1: If you say folding cloth, I don't give a shit
- 6:44Speaker 1: about folding clothes. Are you going to say folding clothes?
- 6:47Speaker 1: I don't give a shit about folding clothes. That's what
- 6:50Speaker 1: I have you for. You can come and visit me
- 6:52Speaker 1: and fold my fucking clothes.
- 6:55Speaker 3: That's your raccoon moment.
- 6:56Speaker 2: That's your raccoon, that's your architect moment.
- 6:59Speaker 3: That's right. She made me so happy when she said
- 7:04Speaker 3: she gives that book, Oh the places You'll go.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Yes, I love that book.
- 7:09Speaker 3: I've given that book away so many times.
- 7:11Speaker 2: Did you give it to your kids book.
- 7:14Speaker 3: I've given it to a lot of kids that have
- 7:15Speaker 3: graduated from high school. I think it's a perfect book
- 7:18Speaker 3: after you graduate from high school.
- 7:21Speaker 2: Okay, I think I'll give that to my niece.
- 7:23Speaker 3: Yeah, we read the words. It's it's phenomenal for that
- 7:27Speaker 3: timeframe in life.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a good idea. I did love that. I loved.
- 7:32Speaker 1: I love how open and honest she was about her
- 7:34Speaker 1: son and the women he dates.
- 7:37Speaker 3: That was fabulous.
- 7:39Speaker 2: We're still having about it.
- 7:41Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, the way she delivered that, She's like, they
- 7:44Speaker 1: are incredibly beautiful and slightly vapid.
- 7:50Speaker 2: It's just like she just went from here to ear.
- 7:55Speaker 3: Would he really be surfing in Costa Rica if it
- 7:58Speaker 3: wasn't for a particular young lady women.
- 8:01Speaker 1: No. But the fact that the fact that her husband
- 8:05Speaker 1: when when there was a fallout between her son and
- 8:09Speaker 1: a crazy ex girlfriend, that her husband was able to
- 8:12Speaker 1: call it and say, don't worry, he's got this. He
- 8:16Speaker 1: was able to recognize what was was Mike because you're, well,
- 8:20Speaker 1: you have one son that's married, the other one that's single, and.
- 8:22Speaker 2: You have Lily.
- 8:24Speaker 1: So was Mike able to call things out for the
- 8:28Speaker 1: guys when they were going through breakups or whatever that
- 8:32Speaker 1: you weren't because he's a dude.
- 8:33Speaker 2: You were an only child.
- 8:35Speaker 1: I didn't grow up with brothers, so it was hard
- 8:37Speaker 1: for me to different like tell and men have that
- 8:41Speaker 1: instinct obviously.
- 8:43Speaker 3: Yeah, and he knew, like before I would know if
- 8:46Speaker 3: they were even interested in someone.
- 8:48Speaker 2: You know, your sons.
- 8:50Speaker 3: Yeah, he knew their vibe before I ever knew their vibe,
- 8:54Speaker 3: which was amain.
- 8:54Speaker 2: You know that's interesting.
- 8:56Speaker 3: Yeah, and I didn't know. I didn't know that was
- 8:58Speaker 3: going on.
- 8:59Speaker 1: Yeah, I can pick up on my kids when they're
- 9:01Speaker 1: interested in somebody. I've been right, I've been yeah, I've
- 9:07Speaker 1: been right.
- 9:09Speaker 3: No, And then she just talked about pivoting as well.
- 9:12Speaker 3: She talked about boredom and pivot again, and I said,
- 9:16Speaker 3: I hear this word now every every day. I'm hearing that.
- 9:20Speaker 3: That's my new word. It's just it's happening every day.
- 9:23Speaker 3: It's happening with all of your guests are saying it. Yeah,
- 9:26Speaker 3: and here I am all way over here over here
- 9:31Speaker 3: on this. You know, I'm pivoting. And I'm like, wow,
- 9:33Speaker 3: look at us all pivoting.
- 9:34Speaker 1: We are.
- 9:35Speaker 3: This is this was time of life, this.
- 9:37Speaker 2: Is it is.
- 9:38Speaker 1: It's as as Judy said it is. It's as Sunny
- 9:43Speaker 1: said it. Whether you look at it as you hit
- 9:45Speaker 1: a wall, or you're reinventing, or you're simply pivoting, it's
- 9:49Speaker 1: it's our time of life to explore. Either way, I
- 9:52Speaker 1: forgot my I forgot my proseco today, so.
- 9:55Speaker 3: Probably the menopause brain. I didn't.
- 10:01Speaker 2: How hard can it be?
