- 0:01Welcome to Rick and That Michelle Chick, the weekly
- 0:05podcast where your hosts, Rick and Michelle, confidently dive
- 0:10into topics they know absolutely nothing about and somehow make
- 0:15it sound legit. They're not experts.
- 0:17They're not qualified. Honestly, they barely googled
- 0:20it. So grab a drink, lower your
- 0:23expectations, and let's pretend this counts as content.
- 0:28So buckle up. Facts are optional, but the
- 0:31bullshit? That's premium grade.
- 0:34This is Rick and that Michelle chick.
- 0:41Well, we were off last week as I was gallivanting in Vegas, so
- 0:45there are a lot of things to catch up on.
- 0:50But before I dive into Vegas, I did want to tell this story.
- 0:54So it was Friday, October third. It was before I went to Vegas.
- 1:00We left on Sunday the 5th. Sorry, I like no concept of what
- 1:06day it is or anything at this point in my life.
- 1:08But so I'm like sitting having my coffee that morning and I get
- 1:13a text message from Todd Lyons, which you and I both have worked
- 1:15with Todd Lyons. I have known him since I was 16,
- 1:19longer than I've known you, which is crazy.
- 1:24Todd knows that I am a die hard Mariners fan and so is my dad,
- 1:28which my dad has been gone it's eight years now this year.
- 1:33And so he texts me on Friday and he's like, hey, is this still
- 1:37your number? And I'm thinking, yeah.
- 1:40And in my mind, I'm thinking, oh, gosh, like somebody that we
- 1:43know in radio has died. Like that's the only reason now
- 1:46that we all like. It's true like.
- 1:49Reach out right like something. 'S happened, Yes, it's true.
- 1:52Yes, we're all at that age now that something's happened.
- 1:55And I'm like, I'm like, yeah, this is still my number.
- 1:58And and then he texts me. Well, can I call you then?
- 2:00No, Like no alarm bells are really going.
- 2:04On he's like, oh. My God, who has died?
- 2:06Who? Has died and so he calls me and
- 2:11he says like, hey, I'm going to the playoff game.
- 2:13So the Mariners are this is the Mariners and the Tigers playoff.
- 2:17He's like I'm going to the playoff game on Saturday and
- 2:19Sunday. And then he was also going to
- 2:21the Seahawks game. The Seahawks played and then the
- 2:23Mariners played on Sunday, which is like the the perfect thing
- 2:27for us fans to to align. Yeah.
- 2:30And so he's like, and I might start crying when I tell the
- 2:35story. And he says, I know how much,
- 2:38like your dad loved the Mariners and how much they meant to him.
- 2:43And he's like, I'm offering to people that I will take
- 2:48something of theirs to the game with me.
- 2:53And so he's like, I'm going to start crying.
- 2:55He's like, I wanted to like call you and see if there was
- 2:59something of your dad's that you wanted me to take to the game.
- 3:03And I was like, Oh my God, Todd, like that is like the sweetest.
- 3:07I love it. Like these.
- 3:09Like who thinks? Who thinks?
- 3:11Todd does. Todd does.
- 3:12Exactly. Like who thinks of other people
- 3:15who love the Mariners just as much as he does?
- 3:19So yeah. So that was before I even went
- 3:22to Vegas. Wow.
- 3:24Yeah. So which thank God the Mariners
- 3:27won. It was a clincher which I was on
- 3:31an airplane trying to get home with this game happening going
- 3:3515 innings. But thank God we won.
- 3:38The Mariners beat the Tigers. Well, we are in the ALCS play
- 3:41offs and as of we record this podcast, which today is my dad's
- 3:46birthday. Happy.
- 3:47Birthday. Yes, and they played my
- 3:50birthday, they played tonight and they won 222 out of the
- 3:54seven game series. So let's hope that night.
- 3:58They keep on, They keep on. Yes, like I don't want this to
- 4:01be close, but you know, the odds of them winning are are are
- 4:06pretty good. On any given day, I always look
- 4:08at it like on any given day, they the, the worst team can
- 4:11beat the best team and the best team can lose to the worst team.
- 4:13I mean, it just depends. I mean, and that's, and that's
- 4:16the excitement of that's why we enjoy the the game.
- 4:19It's like you don't, you don't know, but I know everybody's
- 4:22rooting for the, the, the Mariners and it's been a pretty
- 4:25good run for Seattle sports because you got the Seahawks on
- 4:27a roll, you got the Kraken on a roll and you got the Mariners on
- 4:31a roll. So if you are a, a APNW Seattle
- 4:34fan of all those teams, you're loving it right now.
- 4:36I'm I'm loving the memes right now with ice, the ice cube
- 4:39that's in his car and he's like, today was a good day and he's
- 4:41got but he's got triple hats on. Well, I mean, again, the
- 4:46Mariners are the only team only, only team that have never made
- 4:51it to the World Series. So for us this is just like
- 4:54extra, extra. Of course.
- 4:56Oh, absolutely. So what?
- 4:58What did you pick to send of your dad's?
- 5:01Well, I didn't like send anything with him because I was
- 5:06I had so much going on that we couldn't align and beat.
- 5:09Up. It was just.
- 5:10It was just the thought, it was just him having.
- 5:14That's wonderful. Thought for all the people that
- 5:17he knows loves the Mariners and and offer to like take shit with
- 5:22you, that's other people's stuff.
- 5:24And it could be something important that somebody sends
- 5:27with you. So that's like a big
- 5:29responsibility. We're all just, we're all in
- 5:34this weird place as Mariners fans where you want to hope, but
- 5:38yet you don't want to get ahead of yourself.
- 5:42Well, the good news, they're halfway there already because
- 5:44you just need four of the seven, you know, So they're, they're
- 5:47halfway there. So, you know, I'm, you know,
- 5:49again, again, I'm, you know, I'm, I'm just happy for Todd.
- 5:53So whenever, whenever I see Todd post, I'm not a big baseball
- 5:57guy, but I mean, I, I enjoy the game for what it is.
- 6:00So, but when I see, I know how much it means to, to Todd.
- 6:03So I like when I watch his, his, you know, his views and all
- 6:06that. I love it when he's on Facebook
- 6:08and he's, you know, chiming in on it.
- 6:10So. Again.
- 6:11And my dad was like the hopeful Mariners man every year, OK, the
- 6:16start of baseball season, he would, yeah, he would come over
- 6:20and be like living only our year.
- 6:21And in my mind, I just be like, OK, dad, like we have up what,
- 6:25100? And some like, let's just get
- 6:27through. Let's just get halfway through
- 6:29this season. And it always starts good for
- 6:31the Mariners too. I, from what I know, you know,
- 6:33not that I'm a Mariner expert, always starts great.
- 6:35And then we did a couple like couple weeks.
- 6:37We were like, ah, JOG, you know? Sometimes usually or like the
- 6:41first few weeks are good that we do really bad and then we like
- 6:45pull it out in the end somehow anyway and no matter and no
- 6:49matter how sucky they got, like he always found something
- 6:52positive about them. I don't.
- 6:54It would be. Some random, if we had some
- 6:56random little morsel, that'd be like really Dad?
- 6:59Like this is what? This is what we're positive
- 7:01about. But OK, OK.
- 7:03Well, I mean that that that's being a die hard.
- 7:05That's not being a bandwagon fan.
- 7:07I'm not. I've never been a big Hey, if
- 7:08you're gonna, I don't care if it's the crappiest team in the
- 7:10league, if that's your team, right, man.
- 7:14I mean, yeah, exactly. So yeah, I don't.
- 7:17I've never I like who I like. We've talked about this on the
- 7:20podcast once. I make a decision what I like.
- 7:22I don't care how much crap I get from somebody.
- 7:24If I like something, that's it, plain and simple.
- 7:27And I'm not going to. I don't change for anybody.
- 7:28So I I admire Todd, I admire your dad.
- 7:31I admire you like you didn't, just like, oh, Ozgo, root for,
- 7:34you know, the Yankees or something.
- 7:35The Yankees? Yeah.
- 7:36Yeah. No, thank you.
- 7:41But I love that story, it made my day.
- 7:43Hate Room? Like all the Yankees.
- 7:46Fans now only Cheryl. Only our old boss, Cheryl, Yeah,
- 7:49she's only, you know, you know, and her and Todd used to go
- 7:52around around with different bets and different things like
- 7:54that. I see.
- 7:55That's what they remember. That I remember that.
- 7:57Bet they mean didn't he have to wear like a Yankees jersey.
- 8:02Yeah, I think so, yeah. He had to wear a Yankees jersey
- 8:04or whatever. So you know, one thing, one
- 8:06thing I don't do, and I know NASCAR's part of that or
- 8:09baseball or football is I don't, I don't talk trash, man, because
- 8:14like I said, on any given day your team could lose.
- 8:17So, so I am never, I have never been a betting man.
- 8:19So I'm like, oh, you know, your team's going to go against, you
- 8:22know, the worst team in the league.
- 8:23I'm still, I'm still not betting on that day because it should be
- 8:26a Gimme. And it never is a Gimme.
- 8:28It never is. It never is a Gimme.
- 8:31Especially if you are the if you are talking smack.
- 8:34Like, yeah. Oh, usually.
- 8:35Once you do that, you just jinxed it completely.
- 8:37So that's how I look at it. That's that's why it work when
- 8:40we talk sports and I don't I or even any NASCAR, whatever, I
- 8:43don't talk crap about anything because the minute you do, your
- 8:47team's losing, your team loses. I believe, I believe that I also
- 8:51have a little, I'm a little superstitious is when my team's
- 8:53losing, I will actually leave. I will actually drive, go to the
- 8:56store, do something else and hope that but and right and hope
- 9:00when I get back that some miracle happened.
- 9:03Right. Because I'm because I'm
- 9:05superstitious that way. Like, well, maybe if I just go
- 9:07shopping or. You watching the game is the bad
- 9:10mojo, yes. Yes, I do believe that.
- 9:13I'm like, oh, I'm the guy. I'm the guy doing it.
- 9:14Yep, I'm the guy. These guys are sucking today.
- 9:16It's my fault. Yeah, yeah.
- 9:19All right. Yeah.
- 9:21Well, great. We talked.
- 9:22I think we talked enough baseball for now, I mean.
- 9:24Yeah, they win. Yeah, they win.
- 9:26Yeah, this is you're going to have to deal with this for the
- 9:28next couple weeks. That's all right.
- 9:29They win. But yeah.
- 9:31And then my trip to Vegas was super fun.
- 9:35We saw the Wizard of Oz at the sphere.
- 9:38Very cool. How was that?
- 9:39It was good. I did not catch a foam apple.
- 9:42I was. Very upset.
- 9:44They fell right in front of us and right behind us, the lock of
- 9:47the draw. It was really good.
- 9:49And now everybody's, because it's done so well, it's sold out
- 9:55for this fear. And so speculation is, what's
- 9:57the next movie going to be? Is it going?
- 9:59To be Harry Potter. Or is it Titanic?
- 10:02Titanic. Titanic.
- 10:04That ship goes down, bitches. But how would they do the water?
- 10:08OK, so here. People with buckets.
- 10:10People with buckets flashing you.
- 10:12What are you talking about? I got this whole thing played
- 10:14out for you. Come on, Squirt.
- 10:16So you got a good gigantic? Yeah.
- 10:21Or like Star Wars, it's like Harry Potter or Star Wars.
- 10:24These are what everybody is speculating now because during
- 10:28the Wizard of Oz, the tornado scene, which is really cool, I
- 10:32mean the wind effect and they have little paper leaves that
- 10:36blow around and the house almost like lands on you.
- 10:41So it gives that dynamic to it, the apples falling, the wizard,
- 10:47the like fire pyrotechnics. Oh yeah.
- 10:51And you feel the heat from those.
- 10:53So just those elements and the seats vibrate and, you know,
- 10:57kind of like a Floyd. Theater, if you did, yeah, yeah,
- 10:59I think, yeah, I think you just brought it up.
- 11:01If you didn't realize that, what was it back in the what, 30s or
- 11:0340s or 50s where there's a, there's a movie called Matinee
- 11:07where they they, where they talk about it.
- 11:09That movie theaters used to be interact.
- 11:10Some movie theaters were interactive like that, like the
- 11:13seats that that, yeah, there there's a whole, there's a yeah,
- 11:16it's, it's a 1990s movie with John Goodman.
- 11:19And the movie is called Matinee. And they talk about that
- 11:22immersive experience. And this is back in the 50s and
- 11:25the how theaters were trying to innovate back then and do this
- 11:28kind of these kind of things. So what about?
- 11:31I was thinking Avatar would be one that, you know, because it's
- 11:35got the offworldly look and the colors and all those different
- 11:39things like that. Yeah, it was a little because
- 11:42again, the screen for the sphere would be different than just
- 11:47even an iMac screen. And so I did notice they have to
- 11:51put stuff on the sides that. Or.
- 11:55To it and so like the oh shoot, the sorry, I'm like my brain is
- 12:03glitching. Not the Oompa Loopas, that's
- 12:06Willy Wonka, but the little the Muchkins.
- 12:08Sorry. Oh.
- 12:09Muchkins right? Yeah.
- 12:12So they have like some that are just like standing but I'm
- 12:17guessing they just like recreated or RE.
- 12:21Oh, got a? Movie, but they just look you
- 12:24could just tell it's different and a little bit off and also
- 12:29like some of their like teeth in some of the scenes I noticed
- 12:34looked different. I don't know if it's just again
- 12:38how the screen is in the sphere compared to a regular screen,
- 12:43but just those little things. But but it was great.
- 12:45I mean. That Well, I know that what Gwen
- 12:49Stefani just announced, no doubts going to the.
- 12:51Sphere While we were there, I saw that because we had this
- 12:54sphere view from our hotel room. Usually I opt for the strip view
- 12:59so I can just sit and have my coffee and people watch on the
- 13:02strip, but we opted for the sphere view so we had the sphere
- 13:05was like right? There, right outside our room.
- 13:09Yeah, yeah, with all its advertisements for Cardi,
- 13:12whatever was happening, and yeah, that got announced while
- 13:16we were there. So I saw that was like, Oh my
- 13:18God, that's that's amazing. Now were you, were you there a
- 13:21week or. Yeah, almost a week, like Sunday
- 13:25through Friday, so. That's the last.
- 13:27Time for Vegas, yeah. And we also, yeah, we also saw
- 13:31Shin Lim, which Jay likes him. I knew nothing about him other
- 13:35than he was on America's Got Talent and.
- 13:37Yeah, So how was it? I mean, did you, did you want
- 13:39to? So for me, I'm a big Shin Lim
- 13:41fan too. Fan too.
- 13:44I felt like there just was not enough tricks though, like there
- 13:46was a lot of talk. Seemed right yes, compared to
- 13:51traditional magicians and we've. Seen David Copperfield.
- 13:55Right. Like we've seen Penn and Teller,
- 13:57Lance Burton, David Copperfield unit, we've seen most all of the
- 14:01traditional magicians. And so, yeah, it did seem a
- 14:04little bit like there wasn't a lot of those tricks or there was
- 14:09a lot of in between, like Segway type things.
- 14:13Or yeah, yeah, I would. I when we went to Vegas and
- 14:16Megan, that was the one thing Megan said, because we went, we
- 14:19want to take in a movie show, I mean a magic show.
- 14:21And we did Shin Lim and and that was certain.
- 14:24She don't. And like you, she knew nothing
- 14:25about it because she goes, Oh yeah, it was good.
- 14:28But I would have liked to see more tricks.
- 14:30And I think that's one of the things that happened to Criss
- 14:31Angel a few years back was he did this huge thing, right?
- 14:35But it was a lot of talking. And so there was like, there was
- 14:38not, not as many tricks. And so that got a bad like more
- 14:41tricks. Well, I think 'cause we did see,
- 14:44we've seen Criss Angel too, which we were huge fans of the
- 14:47show and I think for me, we were in the 2nd row for Criss Angel.
- 14:52And I think for me it was the he just wasn't as edgy or Chris
- 14:58Angely as you might expect like in.
- 15:00The TV show. Yeah, I enjoyed the TV show.
- 15:03Right. I mean, there were a lot of
- 15:05tricks, especially compared to like Shen Lim.
- 15:07But so like during which this is probably like 10 years ago that
- 15:12we saw Chris Angel. But he did the word you he rode
- 15:17out on the big saw that, you know, cuts the girl in half and
- 15:21the blood kind of just like ran down cute little area on the
- 15:26table. And in my mind, I'm like, this
- 15:29is Criss Angel like. Splattering blood, Yes.
- 15:33On the audience, I mean, if you go see the Blue Man Group, if
- 15:37you're sitting in the first six rows exactly, you're getting
- 15:40shit on you. Like that's what I wanted.
- 15:42And I think that's what the majority of most people were
- 15:45expecting was to get that like Criss Angel craziness.
- 15:50And it just wasn't. So that that was my opinion.
- 15:54I mean, he's still a good magician and.
- 15:56Of course. Oh, no, no.
- 15:57Great. They're all great at what they
- 15:59do. You.
- 16:00Figure that thousands of hours they have to practice this stuff
- 16:03to make it look real and look good.
- 16:07So yeah, Dad. No, no, that, no, that's, that's
- 16:09the, the it's the entertainment value and, and and different
- 16:13things like that. So so you you so you that so you
- 16:16did Wizard of Oz. I mean, what else in your week
- 16:19are you I know you had a lot of. Things like, I mean, we went to
- 16:21a lot of dinners and those, you know, fancy dinners take up most
- 16:25of the evening. They're like 3-4 hours.
- 16:27We did eat at Halasan, which is like the Israeli inspired
- 16:30restaurant, which was like so good.
- 16:33We ate at MOT 32 which is the Chinese inspired 1 and Mateo's
- 16:38which is Italian and and again this is when I get food that I
- 16:44don't normally get to eat because my husband is allergic
- 16:47to shellfish and so I can. It's mainly family style and so.
- 16:53You can load up on all the. Stuff.
- 16:54Yeah, I get to try whatever. Like, I got to try the tuna
- 16:58ceviche at Halasan, which was so good that I, that if Jay and I
- 17:04were there paying for this dinner ourselves, we would not
- 17:07buy this. For one, he couldn't eat it.
- 17:10And two, like, I'm not, I don't know if I'm gonna like this.
- 17:13So I'm not gonna spend like $30 on tuna ceviche that I might not
- 17:18like. So, so it's just fun to like get
- 17:21to try those kind of things and and just, yeah, get spoiled by
- 17:25these. People.
- 17:25Yeah, that's the best part of a work trip.
- 17:28Well, I mean, plus, yeah, plus a lot of these gaming industry
- 17:32people are really our friends, and so it's nice to sit down at
- 17:35dinner and talk to them. And of course like I was showing
- 17:38off pictures of my grandbaby like.
- 17:40Yes, of course, of course. And but then it made me miss her
- 17:44more. But yeah.
- 17:45Aw, so. So yeah, you were.
- 17:48You were glad. Right.
- 17:49Yep, Yep, Yep. And then I almost died.
- 17:52Yeah, tell me about the story about almost dying.
- 17:57Well, Shaylee says I'm exaggerating, but so I have to
- 18:01get steroid injections in my back for my sciatic nerve and
- 18:05I've been getting them for a couple years now and I go to the
- 18:08clinic in Kirkland because I'm not going anywhere in Yakima.
- 18:12My normal doctor, he is gone and he's on like extended leave.
- 18:18Like they don't say what happened or anything, but the
- 18:21other doctors in the clinic have to pick up all his patients.
- 18:24And so with my normal doctor, they know that I get sedation.
- 18:29Now when I say sedation, like I'm not like asleep asleep.
- 18:33You get the little IV and they put the medicine in it, but it's
- 18:36not hooked up to any fluids or anything.
- 18:39You're not intubated. Like you're awake during this
- 18:41whole procedure when you're sedated and they're usually
- 18:45talking to you, but you feel nothing.
- 18:46I I love the sedation, so I just.
- 18:51Okay, you love being knocked out.
- 18:54I got it. But I but you're not knocked out
- 18:56like you're awake, like talking. That's creepy.
- 18:59You just don't feel anything, right?
- 19:01That's creepy. Like you're having a full on, I
- 19:03don't know, conversation with them Like you're awake.
- 19:06I don't trust anybody. Yeah, this, this is like in
- 19:10Night Shalaman stuff to. Me so so for some reason for I
- 19:14just think I just thought that OK, it's the same clinic.
- 19:17They know that I get sedation. Like I didn't even think about
- 19:21when I scheduled the appointment to ask like, do you have me down
- 19:25for sedation? I just assume that my other
- 19:30doctor, they know and the people that schedule for him know that
- 19:33and I usually don't have to ask, right?
- 19:35And so we get to my appointment and they come to take me back.
- 19:40And normally I would have my IV in right already.
- 19:44And the nurse is like, hey, we're ready to take you.
- 19:46I'm like, aren't I getting sedation?
- 19:49And she's like, oh, well, no, we don't have you down for
- 19:51sedation. Oh, no.
- 19:53And yeah. And she goes, well, have you
- 19:56eaten or drank anything in the last six hours?
- 19:59Now, here's where I should have lied.
- 20:01I said I said yes because I had eaten and drank something and I
- 20:05should have lied. Said no, because again, you're
- 20:08not intubated. So like, if you're going to puke
- 20:11is right, you're not going to die.
- 20:13Plus you're laying on your stomach.
- 20:15So if you're going to puke, you're if you're going to vomit,
- 20:17you're not going to choke on. I should have lied.
- 20:19Should have lied. Yes, I lie all the time.
- 20:21That's how you Yeah, no matter what they say, lie.
- 20:24Should have lied so. So she goes, well, she's she
- 20:28goes, well, yeah, you can't have sedation since you've eaten and
- 20:32drank something. And then she says, then she
- 20:34says, but a lot of patients that do sedation and then try it
- 20:38without find out that it's not really that bad.
- 20:42And I'm thinking, OK, lady, whatever.
- 20:44Like like let's just let's do this.
- 20:46And I'm telling myself because I know that I hold my breath.
- 20:51So when I get blood drawn or anything like that, I hold my
- 20:54breath and that's usually why I pass out.
- 20:57So we're walking back to the room and I'm telling myself, OK,
- 21:01like you, you're going to have to force yourself to breathe.
- 21:04I'm just trying to like focus and prepare myself mentally that
- 21:07I'm going to have to remind myself that I have to breathe.
- 21:11I can't hold my breath. So you lay on your stomach.
- 21:14I like my hands up here. They have a little oxygen thing
- 21:17on my finger. You're hooked up heart.
- 21:19They have to monitor you. And the doctor, he's super nice
- 21:24and he's saying everything. Is that what he's going to do
- 21:28this, that, blah, blah, blah. And at some point I start to
- 21:31feel again like I'm laying down and I start to feel not great.
- 21:36Like I'm either going to puke, like something's going to
- 21:39happen. And I tell them like, I don't
- 21:42feel so well. Can I move my arms down?
- 21:45Because you can't really move because they have like a needle
- 21:47in your spine. You can't just randomly move on
- 21:50them. And they're like, yeah, yeah.
- 21:53And so, like, I, like, move my arms.
- 21:56And I just feel like that I can't really control them.
- 22:01Like, after that, like, they just kind of go limp.
- 22:04Like, I'm still awake and I hear them.
- 22:08Like I hear the doctor tell the nurses, like get an IV thing
- 22:15ready. I'm not sure what it's whatever
- 22:17it's called. And I hear like the sound of the
- 22:19package. That's really.
- 22:20Open like the sterile package. I know what that sound is
- 22:24because I've had plenty of Ivs, like right, right, right, and
- 22:27like, and I came here to them. Like a crash card, they're
- 22:31getting ready to get it. Going yeah, yeah, pretty much,
- 22:34yes. Which if I would have had an IV
- 22:35in for sedation, they would have already had the line, right.
- 22:40But so, yeah, I hear them and then like, I feel like they put
- 22:44like an ice pack on my neck and the nurses kind of like tossing
- 22:47me, not like shaking me, shaking me, but but shaking me.
- 22:51And I'm awake. Like I can hear the like them
- 22:53all talking. So I'm not passed out like I
- 22:55normally would when I get blood drawn normally, like I, I'm just
- 22:59like out and I wake up to like the smelly salt stuff.
- 23:02But this is different. Like I, I'm awake and I can hear
- 23:04them, right. And then then they stick like,
- 23:08ice packs under my armpits. And finally, like, I kind of
- 23:14start to like, I don't know, perk up.
- 23:17I don't know what you would call it.
- 23:19But normally with sedation, I would just like, walk out on my
- 23:23own. Yeah, I'd be like a little high,
- 23:24but I'd be fine. No, they like, wheel in a
- 23:27stretcher to come get me, and they have to move me onto the
- 23:32stretcher. And then they wheel me like,
- 23:34into recovery. And they're telling me the nurse
- 23:38that's like Wheeling me, he's like, oh, girl, you gave us all
- 23:41a scare. Like, he's like.
- 23:44And then he tells me that that's when, like, my heart rate
- 23:47dropped to 40 and my blood pressure went down to 60.
- 23:51And I'm just like, what? And he's like, yeah, He's like,
- 23:54good thing that most of us are like, former ER nurses.
- 23:56So we were like ready to like jump in and I'm thinking, Oh my
- 24:01gosh, like I, I told you people I needed sedation so.
- 24:06Yes. Yeah, So yeah, I almost died,
- 24:10which Shaylee says I'm being dramatic that it was just my
- 24:13body going into shock and that when your body goes into shock,
- 24:16it starts to like, shut things down to protect itself.
- 24:19And I'm thinking, well, isn't that the same thing as dying?
- 24:22Like, like, isn't it? Like, I don't know.
- 24:25But yeah, that was my so now I cannot.
- 24:29The doctor comes in, He was super nice to check on me and
- 24:33they made me stay there so that they can monitor me and make
- 24:36sure I was. OK with that.
- 24:37That's good, yeah. They weren't just gonna send me
- 24:40home. He comes in to talk to me and he
- 24:43says, yeah, from now on, you have to have sedation.
- 24:47Like, you can't do this without it.
- 24:49And I was like. Yeah, yeah, that's why, yeah.
- 24:52Now you learn, you learn one lesson you learn is you lie your
- 24:54ass off First off, right, You know, no matter what so that you
- 24:58get a physiation, no matter if you've had a cookie or not, is
- 25:01like I'm gonna you know. I mean, it would be different if
- 25:06you were like a really intubated sedation, but this is not that
- 25:10type of sedation. This is just a light.
- 25:12Like again, you're oh wait, like you're fully conscious.
- 25:16Like, it just makes it so you don't feel any pain.
- 25:19So. So yeah, learn, learn something
- 25:23new. Gave everybody a nice little
- 25:25scare, but so, so yeah. But I just had like normally low
- 25:31blood pressure but not like 60. Well, I'm glad you're.
- 25:35I'm glad you're still with us. Thanks.
- 25:37Thanks. I just had like a horrible
- 25:39headache the next day and was not feeling like super great.
- 25:41So, so yeah, that was that was that was my adventure.
- 25:47That that's, you know, like I said, almost like an episode of
- 25:49ER. Yeah, yeah.
- 25:52Like hearing them, like. Oh yeah.
- 25:54I mean. I've never, I've never had that
- 25:56situation. I've never in my have you ever
- 25:58in your lifetime ever? I've never.
- 26:00Never. I mean, like I've, you know,
- 26:01given birth four times in that. OK, well, it's a little.
- 26:04Bit but but nothing like shit wasn't going sideways during the
- 26:09during any of those births. I mean, Shaylee was early, but
- 26:13you know, we knew she was going to be delivered like there
- 26:16wasn't anything that could be done at that point.
- 26:18So it wasn't, it wasn't anything like this where it's like, oh
- 26:22gosh, you know, like. Did you get that?
- 26:25Did you get that feeling like, like I'm dying, I'm going, this
- 26:28is it, this is it felt. Really weird, which which again,
- 26:31when I was telling Shaylee like it like is that kind of what
- 26:35it's like to like start to die? Because if my heart rate was at
- 26:3840 and you lose consciousness when your heart rate goes to 30
- 26:42normal most people. So I mean that's like 10 away.
- 26:47So it's like, is that kind of like the how it would feel as
- 26:52you went from like 40 to 30? Basically in my mind, I'm kind
- 26:56of like like because again, like I was awake and I could hear
- 27:02them. That's.
- 27:02Weird, yeah, but. Once my arms like kind of felt
- 27:05heavy. It's like I couldn't, like I
- 27:09couldn't do any, like I couldn't move anything.
- 27:13It was weird. Yeah, for, for me, that just,
- 27:16that just seems like movie stuff to me.
- 27:18Like what we just like you describe that, like, you know, I
- 27:22can't move and they're taking out my liver or my pancreas or,
- 27:24you know, I mean, that's the creepiness.
- 27:26That's the It's got to be a creepy feeling.
- 27:29Yeah, it was. Yeah.
- 27:30It was trippy. I mean, at that time I didn't
- 27:33know that like my heart was like 40 or my blood pressure was 60.
- 27:37I just thought, I just thought like again, like it was like
- 27:41when I hold my breath and pass out when I give blood, that
- 27:45that's what was happening. I didn't realize like it was a
- 27:48different thing that was happening.
- 27:50So, so well, I mean, I guess that's kind of like how it feels
- 27:55when you start to die. I don't.
- 27:56I don't. Know and I don't even know what
- 27:58that feels like there's a ball under the couch.
- 28:01It's amazing. There's a ball, so hey.
- 28:03Are you? Are you going to get the ball?
- 28:06Which dot is that? Barkley that wants the ball.
- 28:08That's Barkley, but I got to hang on.
- 28:10We're going to toss it out the door, so.
- 28:11OK. The grand The grand experiment
- 28:22of being in the living room, I just.
- 28:24Oh yeah, we did. We Yeah, we need to talk about
- 28:26why you're in a different area for your pocket.
- 28:29Because because we took all the furniture out of the guest room,
- 28:32all the furniture and carpeting out of the man cave, because
- 28:35we're going to be redoing contractors going to be doing
- 28:39the work on it after that little flood we had.
- 28:41And so they were supposed to do it last week and they couldn't
- 28:44do it. And then they haven't showed up
- 28:46this week either. So I you know, I guess it's the
- 28:48what I guess it's what they call contractor time, right?
- 28:52So, so in so in my little Home Office, there is like a love
- 28:55seat in there. There's the, the small screen
- 28:59TVA bunch of, I mean, it's just all stacked up on the desk.
- 29:03And so it was easier for me to move everything to the well, I
- 29:06was going to do it over there on the kitchen island.
- 29:09And so, but, but then I thought, well, maybe I'll just sit down
- 29:12with the power, the power strips right here at Megan.
- 29:14This is usually where Megan's working.
- 29:17So, so my, my and, and you cut out earlier and, and Kyron was
- 29:21running the microwave. So my gut says, oh, the
- 29:23microwave interferes with the Internet basically is what I was
- 29:26what I was just thinking about that too.
- 29:28So yeah, you know, I mean, this is like you said, it's I will
- 29:32bring up something interesting. Well, so here's and we won't
- 29:39spend too much time on it. So in radio and we part of this
- 29:42podcast has to do with radio sometimes.
- 29:44So Joel Denver, who's who used to run allaccess.com, which is
- 29:49very famous for like 30 plus years, a very famous website
- 29:53where you got all your music, you got your information, you
- 29:55got your job opening all of that.
- 29:57Joel Yeah. Joel also used to be a
- 30:00syndicated personality that did a show called Future Hits.
- 30:03So very cool, right? Anyway, about a year ago or so,
- 30:08he that that kind of went under or just the change of the of the
- 30:12business. So that model went away.
- 30:14And then today they did a big, huge announcement about an AI
- 30:17company that he's helped, that he helped start or as a part of
- 30:21or at least supplying music to. And so they've got like 4
- 30:25different formats. They've got country, they've got
- 30:27classic hits, they've got, my gosh, an alternative type
- 30:32station and something else. And so the craziness is so that
- 30:37the company's called Futuri, there's another.
- 30:39So there his company teamed up with the other guy, Futuri, and
- 30:43it's AI. It's all, it's like it's all AI.
- 30:47So, so all the music, so it's like AI radio.
- 30:50So it'd be like all the music is AI.
- 30:52The like radio DJs with the AI, the imaging is AI.
- 30:57So you're saying like everything is AI for this?
- 31:00Everything is AI now because now because AI has gotten so
- 31:04advanced is so how it was pitched to me is like if I'm the
- 31:09program director of the radio station and there is a car wash
- 31:13coming up Saturday for the YMCA, you can type in in the little
- 31:18box that says the YMCA car wash. And then when the AI air talent
- 31:23is on the air, it literally will go, hey, it's Rick.
- 31:27Hey, it's Rick. There's a car wash coming up now
- 31:30listening to the demo. AI for me still has a ways to go
- 31:36because what's interesting is, yeah.
- 31:37Does it deliver? I was listening to Zach, he was
- 31:41on classic rock. I was listening to Robin.
- 31:43She's on like the the classic hit station or whatever, the pop
- 31:46station. And there's still a monotone.
- 31:50There's still monotone with AI. I mean, they, they, they're not
- 31:53over that hump yet. Right, they don't have like the
- 31:57the emotion. The warmth I don't.
- 31:58Know where to where to insert it to well.
- 32:02So they deliver it. So they deliver it.
- 32:05I mean, I mean, so if you're asking for, if you're a gymnast
- 32:08and you're scoring on a scale of 1 to 1010 being exceptional,
- 32:13you're still going to the average listener probably isn't
- 32:16going to pick up on the intricacies.
- 32:18But for me, I'm like, but for me, I'm like, Oh my gosh,
- 32:20there's like, there's no, there's no emotion.
- 32:23Yeah, they read, they read, they read about the car wash or
- 32:26different things like that. But there's nothing that make
- 32:29and it's and it's local and it's local.
- 32:31It's a local car wash. Yeah.
- 32:32You know, Yakima car wash. I get it, but there's that that
- 32:36I don't know the inflections and the and the warmth and what
- 32:40makes you truly a personality. Great.
- 32:43And they took real. They took real radio people.
- 32:46They did. They took real radio people.
- 32:48And they and they, you know, emulated these voices.
- 32:52The problem is you still can't match it yet.
- 32:56Right. So well and us as a radio
- 32:59people, so you know, you talking about, you input the stuff about
- 33:03the car wash. Well, yeah, you might have that
- 33:05information. It might be a couple sentences,
- 33:07but you as the radio DJ, you spin that in your own personal
- 33:14way for you, like how you are, how you would talk, how you
- 33:18would say it or add whatever to it.
- 33:20And an AI is not going to do that.
- 33:23They're just going to read it word for word.
- 33:25So you make a Yeah. So it so.
- 33:27Yeah. So you make a great point about
- 33:28a dog park is opening up here in Kennewick on Saturday.
- 33:31So if I'm on the air, and I know this might get a little too deep
- 33:34for people who don't know much about radio or or or announcing,
- 33:37but when I come up to that break, you know, I'll come out
- 33:39of a song. But let's say it's Kenny Loggins
- 33:41Footloose and I'll go, hey, Kenny Loggins footloose, Rick
- 33:44with you. And then I'll talk about the dog
- 33:46park. But I'll but I'll talk about
- 33:47Barkley, my dog. I'll talk about Bodie, my dog,
- 33:49or Roxy, how much they're going to like.
- 33:51It. Yeah, we personalize it.
- 33:53And so it's not just reading. Hey, the dog park is opening up.
- 33:57It's going to be open Saturday at 11 with a lot of giveaways.
- 34:00There's there's different ways that we as humans, you know,
- 34:04deliver that information. Now do I'm curious.
- 34:07I'll have to ask your own kids, you know, do they even care
- 34:10anymore? Like we care about it because
- 34:11we're we're we're generation X or boomers or even some
- 34:15millennials. We care about it because we grew
- 34:17up on on radio. But but I'm curious if your kids
- 34:22like if it's if it's just delivered locally, like, you
- 34:26know, you know, it's Zach on classic rock one O 2.
- 34:29And here's the here's the story about the dog park.
- 34:33Will the average listener even care?
- 34:36Like for me, it's monotone. I'm like, well, this doesn't
- 34:37even sound like, I mean it, it sounds very robotic.
- 34:41It's better, it's better, it's better than it was.
- 34:43It's better than it was. But it's like, and it was
- 34:46interesting listening to the demo was the, the, the imaging,
- 34:51like the big voice people, we call them big voice, the big VO
- 34:53people. I'm like, well, that's real.
- 34:55That's not, that's not, that's not AI because you can tell
- 35:00there's AI. Guess there's just a warmth or
- 35:03there's something missing and but, but I guess with the with
- 35:08the people listening coming up 98, I just want you to know
- 35:10really quick, 98 million people still listen to radio.
- 35:13It's 98 million. I mean, that's surprising.
- 35:16It is that impresses me, honestly.
- 35:18Well, and, and so I, I see, I, I guess I can say I see a place
- 35:25like if I'm in the Dallas OR, or Moses Lake and I'm, and I and I
- 35:29own 1 little radio station or maybe this is the way, you know,
- 35:32I mean, I get it. Staffing people is expensive.
- 35:34I'm not defending, I'm not defending that.
- 35:37But but it's interesting that for me, it's like, I just don't
- 35:41hear what makes that unique. And but, but again, maybe the
- 35:48audience doesn't care anymore. They just want the information
- 35:51well. At the same time, it's still
- 35:52local. It's still local because they're
- 35:55still talking about like. Local, right, two sentences
- 35:59about a car wash, but right, they're not but there's no I
- 36:03mean, that's how we connect with people though is through
- 36:05emotions usually. And so if that's not there, then
- 36:10they're not really connecting with people because I feel like
- 36:13when we did mornings, more people really connected with us
- 36:19because we really talked about our real lives and our kids and
- 36:24and they connected based on that.
- 36:27And so you're you don't have that with AIAI is just minds.
- 36:32As a, as an on air personality I've had, I've never had anybody
- 36:35ever come and see me at a live broadcast or any event.
- 36:38And if they do mention something about the show, it's never
- 36:42Hollywood news. It's not the it's not the bits.
- 36:45They never, they never say nothing about the even though,
- 36:48even though we've been, oh, you've got to have bits.
- 36:49No, it's, it's when you say, oh, I heard you got in a fight with
- 36:52your wife or I heard the dog. I heard the dog puked on the
- 36:55floor. Right.
- 36:56Or how, how is your kid in college doing?
- 36:58Or, you know, I listen. Right.
- 37:00Yeah, right. So AI can't, I mean, AI just
- 37:03can't replicate that. That's I was listening to these
- 37:06demos. I'm like, I mean, and I and I
- 37:08and I of course, I like Joel. I think Joel Denver is fantastic
- 37:11and I wish him the best of luck. And I'm like, I'm trying to
- 37:13think about where does that? I guess where does that, you
- 37:16know, are they going to be able to scale that?
- 37:18And now, now I heart ton a ton of layoffs right now.
- 37:24So there's another sweep of layoffs going through our
- 37:26industry. It's it's absolutely crazy right
- 37:28now. And then I was talking to Andy.
- 37:30Remember Andy, he used to program cats.
- 37:32He's in Modesto, Stockton. He works for Cumulus and we were
- 37:35talking about that. He we're talking about they
- 37:37don't have a receptionist there. They don't have a traffic
- 37:40department. I mean, all these components
- 37:43that in our industry have gone away because of technology.
- 37:47Now I am not, I am, I am not one of those old fuddy duddies, as
- 37:52you already know. I've always felt that everything
- 37:55changes. So I'm not one of those people.
- 37:57I don't I'm not one of those on air people that goes, well,
- 38:00there should be there should be somebody on the radio.
- 38:02Midnight to six. No, I understand that the
- 38:04economics of it all and I don't have much change since when we
- 38:07got started in the in the business, you know, almost 40
- 38:10years ago. But it's like, yeah, but that's
- 38:13like, but I can, but I can hear it.
- 38:16I'm just curious if your kids will be able to go.
- 38:18Oh, yeah. Or, or they might.
- 38:20They might not even bond. Like, yeah, Zach is on the radio
- 38:23doing classic rock, but no one's ever going to want to meet Zach.
- 38:28No, of course not. He.
- 38:29Delivers. He delivers what he's supposed
- 38:31to, but it but there's nothing more.
- 38:33There's nothing. There's nothing more with it, if
- 38:35that makes sense. I'll have to ask them and
- 38:37especially Shaylee because she is dubbing.
- 38:40This is what she's doing for a job.
- 38:42She is dubbing movies that are in Korean and then they are
- 38:49being translated through AI from the Korean into English.
- 38:54And so she has to make sure that the English is correct.
- 38:57And then she also has to make sure that that the like size and
- 39:02laughs and that kind of thing are put in because the AI can't
- 39:06put that stuff in just like we were just talking about they,
- 39:09you know, AI doesn't have that capacity to have like that
- 39:12emotion. And so she has to make sure that
- 39:15the laughs or sigh, all those extra things are correct and in
- 39:20there. And so I'll ask her and see what
- 39:23she has to say. I'm curious to see what she
- 39:25thinks are. They yeah, I mean, again, I
- 39:28mean, normally when we do these, when we do these radio surveys
- 39:31or when research projects come back, they always say one and
- 39:36two is I listen to the radio for music and the personalities like
- 39:40that is that without a doubt. And it's free.
- 39:43It's free. They don't have to pay for
- 39:44Spotify. They don't pay for XM or Sirius,
- 39:46any of those. So I mean, there are still huge
- 39:50advantages to terrestrial radio. They're real.
- 39:52They're there really still is. But I'm curious, as we take more
- 39:56pieces away from what we remember from radio or what we
- 40:00love about it, I'm curious if the audience.
- 40:04If it will affect to the audience.
- 40:06I, I, I mean, are, are, are they, are, are they fooled by
- 40:10that? So we've, we've talked a lot
- 40:11about interesting. We got an e-mail a couple days
- 40:14ago from Brooke and a listener for Brooke and Jeffrey.
- 40:18And they do their, and they do their prank call or whatever.
- 40:21And the gal and the gal emailed me and goes, Oh my God, listen
- 40:24to this morning's prank call with Brooke and Jeffrey.
- 40:26Oh, I loved it so much. I'd love to prank my husband.
- 40:29Da da, da, da da. Well, you and I both know.
- 40:31If you talked about this on a past podcast.
- 40:34It's staged. It's staged.
- 40:35I don't want to hurt anybody's, you know, I mean, right.
- 40:38It is there for the entertainment value.
- 40:40Yes. You know, even even me being a
- 40:42radio person, listen to Brooke and Jeffrey.
- 40:44I will hear a very it's it's entertaining.
- 40:46Yeah. So I know I even I know that
- 40:49that it's it's actors right, doing doing the thing.
- 40:53So I know it full well, but I enjoy it for the entertainment
- 40:56value and and don't put any stock you do, but there are
- 40:57still people who actually believe that, that they're prank
- 41:01calling or that the second date updates or any of that stuff is,
- 41:05is, is real. So I'm curious as we get more
- 41:10into the AI and it was funny. They did a they did a big
- 41:12experiment. I don't know if we talked about
- 41:14it in the past podcast, but AI Ashley was in Portland on live
- 41:18one O 5. Now she did a show.
- 41:20She's from like North Carolina, South Carolina.
- 41:23So she just provided the voice for the show in Portland e-mail.
- 41:26So she voice tracks the show in Portland.
- 41:28Portland, OR. OK, so.
- 41:30Then they this Futura took her voice and made AI Ashley.
- 41:34And so it was interesting to hear AI Ashley can call the
- 41:39listener and give them tickets. So you hear that do do, do do.
- 41:42And it called this No, it called this gal and goes, hi, is this
- 41:46Mary? And she goes, yeah, it's Mary.
- 41:48And she goes, she goes, hey, it's AI Ashley and you've won
- 41:50tickets to Taylor Swift and the and Mary goes absolutely ape
- 41:54shit. Like who?
- 41:56Cares if it's AI Ashley, I wouldn't care.
- 42:01During the phone call, AI Ashley, there's no emotion.
- 42:05I mean, she delivers. Right.
- 42:07She's just like hey Mary this is AI Ashley and won tickets too
- 42:11and I wouldn't consider. Fat AI, but it delivered it
- 42:15delivered exactly what you would expect.
- 42:18Now the the audience member she got Taylor Swift and she don't
- 42:21care, but for me listening back and hearing how monotone or
- 42:26because normally usually tickets you're with them you're.
- 42:29Yes, you're excited for. You're like, yeah.
- 42:32You're like, yeah. And so, so AI Ashley didn't do
- 42:36any of that. She's just like, well, hey,
- 42:37Congrats, Mary, and you're gonna take some of the station.
- 42:39I mean, it really is. It's very.
- 42:41Yeah, it's very. That's very it's very detached,
- 42:44you know, so and interesting enough, after six months, I
- 42:47think live one O live one O 5. Don't they don't use AI Ashley
- 42:51anymore in Portland OR like the the grand experiments?
- 42:56That Ashley got fired. Failure by any means, but you
- 42:59know it. I'm sure the ratings came out.
- 43:02I'm sure the ratings came out and said that that that that's
- 43:06not the direction the station wanted to go with.
- 43:08And remember everything we talked about.
- 43:09Let's be truthful and honest. Everything's about money.
- 43:11That's that's it, plain and. Simple dollars and cents.
- 43:14It's all yeah, if they do not do not fool yourself.
- 43:17And that's the same as, you know, going the school district
- 43:20and working at a lab and working at PNL and working at the the
- 43:23mill. At the end of the day, it is, it
- 43:26is how to get money for the stockholders basically, you
- 43:29know, and, and do it on the cheapest humanly possible.
- 43:32So, but I thought it was just interesting.
- 43:34And I'm curious. Yeah.
- 43:35When you get a chance to talk to your kids.
- 43:37I even even I broke down and I have Spotify now.
- 43:40So it took me, I felt like I was betraying radio by getting
- 43:44Spotify. But I realized the songs I want
- 43:46to hear and how I want to hear them is yeah.
- 43:49I mean, I don't, they don't, I don't have a station that
- 43:52delivers exactly what I what I want to hear.
- 43:54So I have Spotify and I'll even use the AIDJ.
- 43:58I haven't used the AI DJ but I have like my I have my own
- 44:01little like playlist created for like certain movies and stuff I
- 44:05want to listen to and. Yeah, So the AI is DJ.
- 44:09His name is DJX. And so he goes so, so he sounds
- 44:12like AI. He's like, hey, he goes hey,
- 44:14it's your it's your guy DJX. And I'm going to show you.
- 44:18These are the stuff you've been listening to, Rick.
- 44:19Here is Rick Springfield. And then he'll mispronounce an
- 44:22artist because he's AI, you know, because.
- 44:24You. Know he's AI so I mean and so he
- 44:27will mix the songs and so it's kind of cool.
- 44:29You still get that blended like like when you listen to Spotify,
- 44:33you get the dead air. I mean for radio people, we
- 44:35don't like the dead air, but what the DJ in the Spotify it
- 44:39segways for you, so you hear it. So he's I mean, he's DJ ING it
- 44:43even DJ is over the intros. Yeah, but but I mean, but he's
- 44:48not he's not like without personality, but he really
- 44:50doesn't have I mean he really doesn't have personality, but
- 44:53the but but he's playing my favorite songs.
- 44:57So so so. I don't dislike DJ X because,
- 45:01well, he's playing Mr. Mr. and no one else plays Mr. Mr. So.
- 45:05No, no one else does. So yeah, well, actually, my, my
- 45:09station 98 points through the key does we do play Broken Wing
- 45:12still makes it believe it, believe it or not, Mr. Mr.
- 45:15Broken Wing still makes it still an active rotation even at a
- 45:19national level. Still an active rotation.
- 45:21It's true, true. And then and then we do the 80s
- 45:24weekends. Curiae always is in there too,
- 45:26the two big number ones. But anyways, you need.
- 45:29That's more information than you needed, but.
- 45:31No, no, it's fine. But no, it's like ask your kids
- 45:34about the AI. I'm just curious if.
- 45:36Yeah, because I'll. Be curious, especially if it ask
- 45:41them if they're OK with it, if it's a format they like, because
- 45:43what's interesting about this company that launched is there's
- 45:46formats that you normally can't get, which was kind of cool.
- 45:50So there was like an alternative adult alternative type thing.
- 45:53It was kind of cool. So I thought, well, you know,
- 45:56you know, if there's country, you get country, all that, I
- 45:57mean in these small markets. Is there AK pop because you know
- 46:00Shay would be down for that. Well, that's what I'm saying.
- 46:02So yeah. So let's say it was K pop K pop
- 46:04but it was an AIDJI. Think she'd be OK with it her
- 46:07and. She wouldn't care.
- 46:09She probably would prefer that there's no DJ.
- 46:11Right. I think her generation is like,
- 46:13yeah, that's you know, but but it's interesting when you hear
- 46:16the so when you hear the AI, they were doing the the classic
- 46:20hits. So it's not just doing the AI,
- 46:23it's how it talks. So they so they so they would
- 46:26come out of a song on the AI and go well, that was multi multi
- 46:30platinum artist Morgan Wallen multi platinum.
- 46:34So it's like the audience doesn't know like what's multi
- 46:36platinum? I know what multi platinum is,
- 46:38but the audience doesn't. So and when and so when So when
- 46:41the the AI gives a fact about something it was given facts
- 46:44about Whitesnake the video here I go again, but it's but it's
- 46:48still it's not how Casey Kasem. Right, it's not what?
- 46:53Deliver on the. Story I like you could say that
- 46:55about Morgan Wallen, but not be so clinically weird about it.
- 47:00Right, I guess I yes, I would never come out of a break and go
- 47:03then. Well, there's multi platinum
- 47:04artist Morgan Wallen, you know, and his new song and then.
- 47:08Morgan Wallen, you know, went in a butt load of war.
- 47:12It's, you know, like some of the fun like that.
- 47:14You don't have to make it like, yeah, weird.
- 47:18Yeah, it is weird because the AI doesn't talk like and when it
- 47:22comes to artist information, it's not talked like another
- 47:24person like we've always been taught in radio.
- 47:28If you're talking to your best friend, you wouldn't say that,
- 47:32hey, you're going to go to the Morgan Wallin concert.
- 47:33You wouldn't go, you wouldn't go.
- 47:35Are you going to go to the multi, multi platinum Morgan
- 47:37Wallin concert where he's got 555 new albums out or what?
- 47:42He just wouldn't talk like that. No, I'd be like, girl, what are
- 47:45you wearing to the Morgan Wall concert so we can.
- 47:47Coordinate so that that would be interesting, so that what are.
- 47:50We What are we wearing? So, so from that perspective, I
- 47:54think that would be interesting. So different, just different,
- 47:56just different things like that even OK, I'm even going to blow
- 47:59the so we have this program at work where you can do AI phone
- 48:04calls. So you know me, you know me.
- 48:08I like to. You know me.
- 48:09I like to experiment well. Yeah.
- 48:11Yeah, I cannot get the AI and it's a program that we have.
- 48:16I cannot get it to sound like, I mean, it passes by like I can
- 48:23make it do a request like, hey, hey, can you play some Sheryl
- 48:25Crow, OK. Which is fine because you don't
- 48:28really need a motion or to sound great in that like.
- 48:31But it does for me. And oh, oh, so this pro.
- 48:35So no. Here's the program, Michelle, so
- 48:38I can talk into this program and go, hey, can you play Sheryl
- 48:42Crow? All I want to do, it changes me.
- 48:45I could pick my voice. I could pick my ethnicity and
- 48:49like me, right? So I can I can change myself to
- 48:52a female. So if I'm a male doing and I
- 48:55want a female request, I can I can voice into this thing and
- 48:59but yet for me, it's still it's still not believable.
- 49:02I can use it and I have. But you also know that it isn't
- 49:07real. But would people who didn't know
- 49:12be able to tell? I think.
- 49:13When it has a weird accent, yeah.
- 49:17OK, OK. Here's up.
- 49:19Listen. Here's what you need to do.
- 49:21Record like a little snippet of it so that we have it.
- 49:24Oh yeah, I'll do it. I'll.
- 49:25And then we can put it on our Facebook.
- 49:27Yeah. And let people, like, hear what
- 49:29what you're talking about, Right.
- 49:31I'll do. That I'll do a mock, I'll do a
- 49:33mock break with the AI. Let's do it now.
- 49:36I think it would work better if like I had if I had Megan go
- 49:39down and cut this stuff female to female rather than trying to
- 49:42be a male to female type conversion on this thing.
- 49:46So yeah, but I mean, now it does sound like there's phoners,
- 49:49sounds like there's people. I mean, the list goes in on.
- 49:52But I have fun. Myself, I would love it.
- 49:54I'd be using it like crazy then. Oh, I, I.
- 49:56But what I what I use more often now is old phone calls that I've
- 50:00had from a billion years. Canned ones.
- 50:02Canned one I still have AI have a crap load from my days at one
- 50:05O 7 and the bull and all that. So I use those because those are
- 50:08still real people. Right.
- 50:10Yeah. So, yeah, so anyway, just
- 50:13throwing that out there about the AI quite, quite the well,
- 50:16we've got massive layoffs going right now across the board.
- 50:19You don't have. NBC.
- 50:21Traffic, I mean, everything is also everything is hubs.
- 50:26So if you're in, so if you're in tri-cities, you don't just see
- 50:30oversee tri-cities, you oversee Yakima and whatnot.
- 50:32I mean it the more, the more markets you're working, the the
- 50:37the better. I mean, so you're not yeah,
- 50:39you're you're overseeing multiple, multiple products.
- 50:42So and does and again, does the audience even like does the
- 50:45audience care? They still listen.
- 50:48They, I mean, Michelle, I do my morning show every day and it's
- 50:51live and people, people still call in.
- 50:54You got real people. Really not absolutely not AI No,
- 50:59no, no, I I honestly can say I I am.
- 51:01I am always I love it. I love it.
- 51:03I mean, you know. Here's so here's another thing,
- 51:07because we're you're asking about like our kids generation,
- 51:10we're Gen. Xers.
- 51:11So we're used to making phone calls, which again, Gen.
- 51:15Z does not like to make phone calls at all.
- 51:19So yeah, they are like those phoneers are going to go away
- 51:23once, like all. Of this Gen.
- 51:25Xers die off. So you are going to laugh is we?
- 51:29We're giving away Corn Mates tickets right now.
- 51:33Now kids on the school bus, guess what they do call in for?
- 51:35Oh, they do. Yes, corn mates.
- 51:37Tickets, Yeah. The last couple, yeah, we're
- 51:39doing. Making real phone calls.
- 51:42Yeah, the last couple days have been young men, but on on the
- 51:46bus calling in for the corn maze tickets because of something
- 51:49they want. But that's the first real radio.
- 51:52Give them something they want, you know?
- 51:54You, yeah, you can get anything out of them if it's something.
- 51:56They want no matter what, yeah, people, people will do like like
- 52:01like Taylor Swift tickets or right now we're giving away
- 52:03$10,000. And so people will respond to
- 52:07that no matter what. There are things there.
- 52:09There's, there's a given. Now if I'm down at now if I'm
- 52:11down at the furniture store with a pack of 6 pack of Pepsi.
- 52:14They can care about no. One's going to come across town
- 52:17for a 6 pack of Pepsi. They're just not going to do it.
- 52:19But if I had torn gas. Yeah, right.
- 52:22That's the truth. So at the end of the day, I
- 52:24guess it, I guess we kind of answer the question.
- 52:26It's like you give them what they want and they're going to
- 52:28make the decision whether they like whether they like it or
- 52:31not. Yep, Yep, I did read your book
- 52:34on the airplane. Oh.
- 52:35My gosh. Except for I had to like stop at
- 52:39the chapter where I knew Joe was going to die, which I might
- 52:43start crying, start crying thinking about and Russell's
- 52:46funeral because I knew like just reading like the headline, I was
- 52:50like, oh God, and I'm on an airplane and I'm starting to get
- 52:53teary eyed already. I'm not, I haven't even read any
- 52:56of those parts. And I'm like, Oh my God.
- 52:58So I had to like just close it and put it away until I got home
- 53:02and then it, but I was able to. Finish it all the way through.
- 53:05Yeah, Yeah, it did. Yeah.
- 53:06So what? You know, I don't want to, I
- 53:08don't want to spend too much time, but what do?
- 53:10You think I love? You've heard the stories.
- 53:13Yeah, I've heard a lot of them, except for I don't think I've
- 53:15heard the story about you reconnecting with Pearl and her
- 53:21getting to meet Logan, which that which that was like happy
- 53:26almost a little bit of tears on the airplane, but I was like,
- 53:29you can't cry. You're on a fucking airplane.
- 53:32So that part that was, I didn't know about that.
- 53:36And I was very glad that that happened for.
- 53:38You that was that was really so we won't take too much time on
- 53:42it, but I will say that these wonderful people gave me so much
- 53:48and so and I I talk about in the book is when I was a so so the
- 53:53Wallaces. I mean, I talk a lot about the
- 53:54Wallaces where I couldn't take a shower and all these different
- 53:57things. So mom Mom made it so I could
- 54:02stop at her place to take a shower when I was when I was,
- 54:05when I discovered girls basically so.
- 54:09The important thing There was no Axe body spray back then.
- 54:12No. There was none.
- 54:13Yeah. So, so, so, yeah.
- 54:15So for my so through my, through my junior year, I was allowed to
- 54:18go to her house, take a shower every morning.
- 54:19So I would leave the Wallaces, leave the wall.
- 54:21It says early, go to her house, take a shower, clean set of
- 54:24clothes. And so a lot of people said,
- 54:27wow, you really changed in high school.
- 54:28You literally went from this to this.
- 54:30Well, you and I both know it's all environments.
- 54:32Right. Yeah, so, so and then So what
- 54:35happened was at the end of that year, she said she goes, hey,
- 54:40I'm going to go traveling. I know when I read that and I
- 54:43was like, oh, but then I was like, why couldn't he still keep
- 54:46coming? Well, because she wasn't going
- 54:49to be there. I mean, she just wasn't.
- 54:50But still she could have given you like in my mind, I'm like,
- 54:53look, if this be my kid, my like whatever, like like you could
- 54:58still come whether I'm home not. Home.
- 55:01But, but, but and then and then because of the damage done by
- 55:04the Wallaces, I just took that as rejection, right?
- 55:07I did. And then no, then no.
- 55:09I would have too if I was you totally.
- 55:11And and then the horrible part about it is passes and then you
- 55:15become ashamed and then you become, you know, you feel
- 55:18guilty, all these different things.
- 55:20And so when I saw her years later in the store, I just
- 55:25turned the went the other way to me, to that, to me to this day
- 55:29is the worst, probably one of the worst things I've ever done
- 55:32in my mind, because there she is.
- 55:34She's looking at, she's at, you know, she's at Albertsons.
- 55:36I see her and I'm, I'm probably, I'm probably 2122 and I turn the
- 55:41other way. Now.
- 55:42This is someone I cannot express like how it well, the book does
- 55:48right. I was going to say you love.
- 55:50Her more than anything but like you also say in the book like
- 55:54trauma fucks you up like you and I both know like trauma that we
- 55:59have experienced as kids, like messes you up so much you see it
- 56:05Yes, yeah, yeah, you. You see that and you see.
- 56:08The damage done by. Missus Wallace, She, she you
- 56:13know, we, you know, it's like you you took my confidence.
- 56:15She so they gave me everything. Love, confidence.
- 56:19I would, I think I would have been a totally different person
- 56:22if I, oh, if you, yeah, if you would have stayed with them.
- 56:25Totally, definitely. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 56:27So. So what happened was yeah.
- 56:29So I, I and I, and I think you got the gist of the book.
- 56:31I really wanted to show the contrast, yeah, between, between
- 56:36good foster homes. And Bad Foster.
- 56:38Homes yes and and that and that not everybody who's in a foster
- 56:42home oh, you know they're trying to say you know all that yes, I
- 56:45really wanted to drive that home I mean I I hope I did Oh
- 56:51definitely oh, you know and totally and.
- 56:53Then and then, yeah. So, and then the crazy thing, as
- 56:58I discussed is because of the trauma, even after my mom's
- 57:01funeral, then I go another 15 years, like I disconnect again,
- 57:07right? Like who does that?
- 57:09And and. Then and then people.
- 57:10Would have been traumatized and haven't.
- 57:12Don't like it or don't. Process it or don't understand
- 57:15it or don't. But like I said in the book,
- 57:17like like I said in the book, then the.
- 57:19Last eight years I reconnected through Melanie Bots, which was
- 57:22hilarious. Melanie, you know Melanie bots.
- 57:25Anyway, then they all piled back on and and guess what?
- 57:29They never mentioned to me? They never go where Where were
- 57:34you? Why?
- 57:35What happened? Why did you do that?
- 57:36What? No.
- 57:37Not, not, not an iota. They don't.
- 57:41That is love. I was going to say.
- 57:43People like that don't care like.
- 57:45They love you regardless. Good, bad, ugly.
- 57:48Isn't that a? But isn't that a?
- 57:49Yeah, isn't that amazing now? Now that now that I have that
- 57:52after all, now these eight years, you know what I'm saying?
- 57:55I realize the value of that and now I won't let it go right in
- 57:59your like now, now now it's like no.
- 58:01I mean you now you know. That now that I reconnect with
- 58:04them, I'm at a point in my life where I I won't let that go.
- 58:07And so it's if if one of them passes away or anything, I'll be
- 58:10there. I was.
- 58:10I had to go to Riggins ID because the one of the sister in
- 58:14law's passed away. You know, so it's like I, I've
- 58:17made it a point in my life for that family to be there no
- 58:22matter what to to kind of make up for that, to make up for that
- 58:26time that I should have been there.
- 58:28I guess that you missed out on. I missed out.
- 58:31On. But they don't think of it like
- 58:32that. That is the that's.
- 58:33That's love. But you do.
- 58:35You're the one that has that. Guilt and shame about that, but
- 58:38that comes from the Wallaces, that guilt and shame and caring
- 58:43that comes from them. Well, I hope it was a good read.
- 58:47Yeah. No, it was great.
- 58:48I loved it and and Joe. Come on, cool.
- 58:53The one ribbon. The one ribbon, Yeah, Which
- 58:56you've told I. You've told that story before,
- 58:59but I was just happy that when you got reunited with your real
- 59:03dad that Joe went with you because at first when I started
- 59:07to read that, which you have not mentioned that oh, Joe was we
- 59:10was talking right, which you've never ever.
- 59:13You've talked about Joe and the blue ribbon.
- 59:15But then that's kind of where Joe ended like in the whole in
- 59:20like our entire friendship, Like you've never mentioned that he
- 59:23got to go with you to your real backed when you went back to
- 59:27your real dad. So I was just happy that he.
- 59:29Got to go with you because I. Was like, if he has to lead this
- 59:33dog. No, no, no, Joe.
- 59:35Joe was. Joe was with me.
- 59:36Joe. Was with me to the end and and
- 59:38Joe passed away. They luckily before we went to
- 59:41the Wallaces. So it was right in that that and
- 59:44I've and I've often talked about my dad didn't abuse me.
- 59:49Like, right. No, I didn't like, I mean, yeah,
- 59:51I mean, they're messed up. On alcohol.
- 59:53And all those different things, but I never that you never
- 59:56physically or mentally ever. I mean, just the abandonment
- 59:59issue is the biggest issue that they just weren't there.
- 1:00:01You know, that's the that it's the abandonment.
- 1:00:03Not not that my dad ever said I wasn't smart or a piece of crap
- 1:00:07or. Right.
- 1:00:08Any of those, any, any of those things.
- 1:00:10I mean, I know they thought even as a little kid, they thought I
- 1:00:12was pretty arrogant. But even my, even my, even my
- 1:00:15parents, my, but I but that's that confidence.
- 1:00:18I was given that, that wonderful confidence.
- 1:00:20And yeah, so and then I also wrote in the book that my dad
- 1:00:25made me get on the bus when Joe passed away the morning, the
- 1:00:29morning of. Yeah.
- 1:00:30And I should have stayed home from school.
- 1:00:31And so here I'm on the bus. I'm in 6th.
- 1:00:33Grade, 7th grade crying. If you're like, yeah, look at
- 1:00:35look at Fargo's eyes. Got you baby.
- 1:00:38You know, I was like and so that was that was losing Joe was the
- 1:00:41most one of the most traumatic to this day.
- 1:00:45Like I didn't want a dog for 20 years.
- 1:00:47I talked about it. I didn't want a dog.
- 1:00:48I didn't want I didn't want any you know, and now and now I mean
- 1:00:52now it's like I have now going forward, I told Megan I I got to
- 1:00:55have a border collie. I can't not have a border
- 1:00:57collie. So and then, and then what the
- 1:01:00most amazing thing is I had no pic because it was, you know,
- 1:01:02back when you didn't have a lot of pictures.
- 1:01:04So there was that one picture that my sister, my foster
- 1:01:08sister, Kathy, sent where I'm with Joe leaning down as a
- 1:01:10little boy, you remember, you know, and then and then what I
- 1:01:13tried to do in the book was correlate some of my mom's
- 1:01:16journal entries. Yeah, you know which I loved
- 1:01:20seeing like her. Handwriting.
- 1:01:21And right. Right, so it correlated to the
- 1:01:23story, so she didn't. Expand upon the story like she
- 1:01:26goes, oh, she goes, oh, Virgil was elated that Joe won a blue
- 1:01:29ribbon, but I had the story, right.
- 1:01:32Well, I mean, it's like you're seeing like her.
- 1:01:35Point of view of the story and then you're like living in like
- 1:01:39living the story for you whatever like truly really meant
- 1:01:43for you as the child like in that story.
- 1:01:46So, so and and so I am thinking about.
- 1:01:49So there was some stuff that I that like, like Logan, when he
- 1:01:52critiqued it, my son critiqued it.
- 1:01:55He sounds like my kid. Yeah, he critiqued it, but he
- 1:01:57goes. Well, you know, you could have
- 1:01:58expanded and. I thought, you know what, maybe
- 1:02:00down the road I'll do a, a second version of it because
- 1:02:02there are some more journal entries that my mom made that I
- 1:02:05didn't include. And I, I, I, that's all
- 1:02:08handmade. That was all handmade.
- 1:02:09So, so as well, like, I'm not an expert.
- 1:02:11And so I was going to say, you're not a professional
- 1:02:14writer. No, no, no.
- 1:02:16But I really. But I.
- 1:02:17Wanted the the number one reason why I did it was to get that
- 1:02:20that to get that to the foster family.
- 1:02:24So I, so I, so I gave so I bought 50 copies of that mailed
- 1:02:28it to each of the you know, no, I did it wasn't about me.
- 1:02:32I was. Like because I.
- 1:02:33And, and when, and they've, they've come to me and I said, I
- 1:02:35said that was what I should have said when my dad passed away,
- 1:02:39when my mom passed away, I, it was not, it wasn't even really
- 1:02:43about the Wallaces at the end. It really was their, I wanted to
- 1:02:48tell their story. I'm pretty proud of that.
- 1:02:52So I I mean, I mean, did you learn?
- 1:02:54I mean, it's so funny. Like when when Pokey read it and
- 1:02:56Megan read it, they went well. I've heard these stories before.
- 1:03:00I mean, I've heard a lot of them.
- 1:03:01But like I said, I. Didn't hear whatever happened to
- 1:03:05Joe. Like, I didn't know that he went
- 1:03:07with you when your real dad came back and got you.
- 1:03:09So there's like bits and pieces and there's stories I haven't
- 1:03:12heard. So.
- 1:03:12Oh, so yeah. So.
- 1:03:14So that was fifth grade. What pissed?
- 1:03:16Me off is so my dad had a dog named Joe.
- 1:03:19He had a he had a Saint Bernard. So my dad had a dog named Joe
- 1:03:22and then I had my dog Joe and my siblings would call him old Joe
- 1:03:27and I would lose my I was fifth grade man.
- 1:03:30I would go on the war. I'm like, he's not old.
- 1:03:32He's not old. And I'm like, oh, old Joe.
- 1:03:34I'm like, I you want to see Rick Rats in its beginnings, like
- 1:03:39like Mother Humper. My dog.
- 1:03:42I'd Speaking of Joe, I didn't I? You have never told.
- 1:03:45The story about him getting the tick poisoning because I thought
- 1:03:47he was going to die. Then like when I started reading
- 1:03:50that chapter and I was like. Oh my God, the dog's going.
- 1:03:53To die like I can't. That was the, that was the and
- 1:03:56and Logan. It was interesting, Logan took.
- 1:04:00Logan was upset with the story, he says.
- 1:04:03Why did your foster mom make you pay for stuff?
- 1:04:06Oh, he was like he was. Different generations because we
- 1:04:09never. Made our kids pay for.
- 1:04:11Stuff and they don't understand no, but but he was no, but he
- 1:04:15was like, he's like. You know why did, But there's
- 1:04:18that. He was sick.
- 1:04:20No, but. You do understand the medicine
- 1:04:22cost more than. Any money that I gave, great.
- 1:04:25So yeah, it's not like you were. Completely paying, right?
- 1:04:29The entire thing like that was that.
- 1:04:31Was the you know why? Why am I finan?
- 1:04:33Why am I financially responsible today?
- 1:04:37Because of Pearl like. You know those lessons well, you
- 1:04:41know exactly. It was like those, you know, you
- 1:04:43know me well enough to know I am I am fiscally like, Oh yeah,
- 1:04:47yeah. I mean so so those.
- 1:04:49Lessons. It wasn't the lessons, wasn't
- 1:04:51how she could take my Oh, the the big difference even in the
- 1:04:54book was when I was 12 or 13, she gave me all that money.
- 1:04:59Yeah, yeah, which you. So it was like 200 bucks and the
- 1:05:021st. Thing I did was run out.
- 1:05:03Like a drunken sailor and spent it at 12 years old.
- 1:05:06But she said. But she goes.
- 1:05:09Hey, Virgil, by the way, all those.
- 1:05:11Quarters that we saved, here it is, here they are.
- 1:05:15Here they are. And then meanwhile, Karen
- 1:05:18Wallace is like, oh. You mowed the lawn today.
- 1:05:19Good. Give me your money.
- 1:05:21Give me it and no, she did and she never she never gave a she
- 1:05:25never gave a she knew she took our money she took our money so
- 1:05:29so those were the lessons. I mean, those were the that's
- 1:05:31what I was trying to get a convey was the the the massive
- 1:05:35difference, yes and and and being loved like and that is
- 1:05:42something that my. That my brothers and.
- 1:05:44Sisters didn't have We are so diametrically different and that
- 1:05:50is and that book or those those people are the reason, right?
- 1:05:54Oh, totally. Yeah.
- 1:05:55Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed it. I wanna, I wanna.
- 1:05:58Take I wanna take Joe's story, make it I wanna take the Blue
- 1:06:01Ribbon story and make it into a a kids book.
- 1:06:04That'd be great. So yeah, if you would like to
- 1:06:06buy. Rick's book, if you follow us on
- 1:06:09Instagram, it's up in a little highlight the link to be able to
- 1:06:13buy it. Also you can tell people where
- 1:06:15they can buy it on Amazon. They get it everywhere.
- 1:06:18So Barnes and Noble's got. It Amazon's got it.
- 1:06:21You name it, it's got it. There's an audio book on Spotify
- 1:06:25so narrated by myself. I was gonna say that you voice.
- 1:06:28I voiced it because I don't want to spend. 600 bucks on some
- 1:06:31other guy. And now why would you?
- 1:06:32Why? Why wouldn't you voice your own?
- 1:06:34Book Well, now I look, but I because because we pick apart, I
- 1:06:37pick. It apart, I hear it like this.
- 1:06:39I'm like, but I've had people say, hey, here I she goes.
- 1:06:42I listen to your book on audio and I'm like, oh, you know, so
- 1:06:45I'm like, I'm very grateful and thankful, but I'm, I'm like,
- 1:06:47man, you sound like shit. I mean, because we're so hard on
- 1:06:49ourselves. What do you think I say as I'm
- 1:06:52listening? Back to our podcast editing us
- 1:06:55like Oh yeah, shut up that year. Usually I'm yelling at my oh,
- 1:07:00what I hear myself on when I hear myself on the radio, I'm
- 1:07:03like, shut the F up, shut up, shut the F up.
- 1:07:06You are worthless. So there you go.
- 1:07:09Thanks, thanks for hanging out with all of our trauma and the
- 1:07:13reality, the real world is you, you, you know, you, you think
- 1:07:17that that what we do is like, oh, it's the greatest thing.
- 1:07:20It is the greatest thing, but we are so self-conscious about it
- 1:07:23too. Oh, we are.
- 1:07:24Oh yes, totally. We.
- 1:07:26Are we're better than AI? Well, right.
- 1:07:29Now better than. AI right now we are so.
- 1:07:33So I'll leave you with. This one thought Michelle
- 1:07:35before. We go OK, yeah, because we are
- 1:07:37like, yeah, we're. Like I know we're way over, but
- 1:07:39I will tell you this and I. And I, I want to leave this with
- 1:07:42a, a good note is you cannot replicate individuality.
- 1:07:48I don't care what you do, what makes you who are listening,
- 1:07:52anybody listening to this, You are special and you can't
- 1:07:56replicate that. You are your own personality,
- 1:07:58you are your own person. You are unique and we all have
- 1:08:02our own stories. And that's what connects us all,
- 1:08:07is telling those and those emotions and AI, yeah, like,
- 1:08:11sure, it can read a story, but it doesn't have that emotional
- 1:08:15component to it. So absolutely so, at least right
- 1:08:19now. For now.
- 1:08:20For now, I don't know. About five years from.
- 1:08:22Now there might be a or even a year from now.
- 1:08:26It's moving at the speed of light.
- 1:08:27So who knows? I, you know, it's one of those
- 1:08:29things where you and I have talked a lot.
- 1:08:32A lot about this I for I just have a unique voice.
- 1:08:37I do know. I do understand.
- 1:08:38Yeah. And so I get picked out even in
- 1:08:40tri-cities. Oh, my gosh, I'll be.
- 1:08:42I was looking for a protein bar at Albertson's last week and I
- 1:08:47was like, oh, and it was a protein bar.
- 1:08:48And the guy was stocking shelves.
- 1:08:50And I said, oh, you're out. Can you He goes, hey, can I help
- 1:08:52you? I said, yeah, this protein bar's
- 1:08:54out. And he's like, well, hang on a
- 1:08:56second. And then he and then he goes,
- 1:08:57sorry, we're out, Sir. And I said, oh, no problem.
- 1:09:00And then he goes, you're on the radio.
- 1:09:02Because the minute I, you know, talked to him, he was like,
- 1:09:04you're Rick. So anyway, you're not going to
- 1:09:07be able to do that for. A Just throwing it out there.
- 1:09:10Nope, no. Oh, kitties need fed.
- 1:09:12I will. Hear you want.
- 1:09:13To quick, quick, there's there's dogs in my lap, There's,
- 1:09:19there's, there's rocks there everywhere, They're everywhere.
- 1:09:22There's Roxy. Here's where Roxy's at.
- 1:09:25There's Bodie. Oh, there's Boat, there's Bodie,
- 1:09:28there's Barkley. As you can see Barkley down
- 1:09:30there. Oh my gosh, Barkley's.
- 1:09:33Looking so old. Yes, Barkley's going to be 13.
- 1:09:37That's crazy. So.
- 1:09:38So. Yeah, so.
- 1:09:39But I. Told Megan.
- 1:09:41And when I lose him, he's my best bud.
- 1:09:43Yeah, it was it was hard losing Phoebe.
- 1:09:45And when they lose the border collie, that's just going to be
- 1:09:49that's going to that's a double whammy because of Joe.
- 1:09:52You know what I'm saying? Right?
- 1:09:53Definitely. But the best thing you can?
- 1:09:55Do is adopt that's. Right.
- 1:09:57Adopt A dog or a cat. I have two cats, if anybody
- 1:10:01would. That's right, they're available
- 1:10:03to you. Just message me, Message me.
- 1:10:11That's it for today's episode of Rick and That.
- 1:10:13Michelle Che, thanks for hanging out with us.
