- 1:08[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, I'm so glad to be here.
- 1:09[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god, I'm so excited to have you.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_00]: I don't even know.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_02]: Although you just ratchet it up the excitement.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_02]: Oh no.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_02]: I first thought you introduced you, but I hadn't really gotten the implications of you being here and just dawned on me halfway through the second sentence.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_02]: But hello.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: I'm a squeeze, squeeze, squeeze.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: So all thanks.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_00]: I already have, like, told you off, Mike, how much I love you.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_00]: So I won't keep saying that.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_00]: But I just want to tell you how.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_03]: Please.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_00]: Before we, like, start this official, I have to talk to you about my degrees of separation from you.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: And so it's conchata feral, Holland Taylor, MSW Media, and then you follow me.
- 1:54[SPEAKER_00]: So, obviously, you follow me.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my God.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_00]: But, okay, so the Concerto Farrow, it's just, they're very little.
- 2:01[SPEAKER_00]: But, back in the day, I used to be an actor and my friend, Rich, told me that he studied with Concerto and gave me her phone number.
- 2:11[SPEAKER_00]: So, I called her and I had a brief conversation with her.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: And basically, she told me she didn't teach anymore.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I'm sorry.
- 2:19[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, she used to teach at UCLA.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_02]: And you know, I saw every year she'd have me come in and give a talk to the students.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_02]: But you know, she took it very seriously.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_02]: And it weighed on her.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_02]: And she really, she's amazing, amazing lady.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_02]: She was so wonderful to work with on that show.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_02]: And you know, just cares so deeply about people.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that's what everybody who knew her really came away feeling about her.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, she was very authentic.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_00]: It was just kind of no question about that.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_00]: And then of course, Holland Taylor, I had the privilege of interviewing her.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_00]: when she did her one woman show and the and Richard show, which was just amazing because I I know I don't know if anybody knows this but I can't remember the name of the streaming service but you can get Broadway shows on your television and I was able to watch that show and it was she's just she blows my mind I've always loved her I remember her on bosom buddies and and then she played your mom
- 3:30[SPEAKER_00]: So I mean, what was that?
- 3:32[SPEAKER_02]: I was the enormous fan of hers.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_02]: We she and I did a pilot together that never that never aired called the medicine show where I was a young doctor and she was a hospital administrator.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_02]: And I was just I was I was a fan girl like the entire time.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_02]: I was trying to find excuses to sit next to her lunch.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_02]: And we just we had we had a great time and
- 4:00[SPEAKER_02]: You know, obviously working on two and a half was, you know, twelve years of wonderfulness.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_02]: And then actually, I was one of the producers on Ann on that show.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, really?
- 4:10[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_02]: So, but she, I mean, she worked herself to the bone on that show.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_02]: If you see the show, it's just an astonishing piece of work.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_02]: And she wrote it as well, by the way.
- 4:23[SPEAKER_02]: You know, so she went through, you know, home, just hell and high water to get that thing to Broadway and just did an amazing, amazing job.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, she totally channeled her.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: She was so good.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it was astonishing, astonishing piece of work.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_02]: Actually, that was for a while, the longest running solo show on Broadway.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if it still is, but when she finished her run, she had been doing it longer than anybody else.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: Well, and then of course, I didn't mention this in the degrees and this isn't really a degree, but I mentioned this when I was pitching you and wanting you to come on the show that back in the day, I got to go to Woody Harrelson's.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was this birthday party, but it was also a release party for white men can jump.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_00]: And it was like the coolest, oh my god, it was fucking amazing.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_00]: And here's the problem though.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: I went.
- 5:14[SPEAKER_00]: The reason I went was because my mom is also an actor.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_00]: I was an actor.
- 5:19[SPEAKER_00]: She was an actor.
- 5:20[SPEAKER_00]: This was like in the nineties.
- 5:21[SPEAKER_00]: And one of her friends was in white man can jump and gotten invited to this party.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: So it was in Malibu by the water.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_00]: It was the most insane A-list or party I've ever been to.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_00]: There was a stage in Melissa Athridge and Woody were performing.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: There was like food, there was food from all over.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_00]: And like every famous person was there, everyone.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_01]: And so I was not invited to this party.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_02]: It sounds great.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_02]: It sounds great, Kimberly.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_02]: I'm so glad you had a great time at that party.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_02]: And by the way, I knew Woody, he was on Broadway at the same time.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_02]: I was that he chose not to invite me.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_02]: It sounds great.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_02]: It sounds like a great party that I was not.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_00]: But there was this guy.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_00]: This guy came up to me and he was like, hey, I know Charlie Sheen.
- 6:21[SPEAKER_00]: okay and and of like I guess he was trying he was telling me that I think he told me Charlie was going to show up to this party and I guess he was using Charlie to kind of talk to me but I really wasn't interested in either one so there was that
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: But yeah, it was the coolest party I've ever been to in my life.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_00]: I've been to two A-list parties, and that one was the best.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_00]: And the thing that really sucked about it was that my mother, at the time, she was like doing a gazillion.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_00]: She was a clown at kids' parties.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: She was a caterer.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_00]: She, I don't know, should like, fifteen different jobs, because you know, that's how actors are.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: And we had,
- 7:03[SPEAKER_00]: we had a but we weren't famous so we had the next morning we had a commercial acting class and which I was never good at the whole commercial audition thing and it was with this really like she had a reputation of being a really hard-ass casting director and he must chance he appears and she looks she really was a hard-ass and anyway I was like willing my mom's like we got to leave now because I'm so tired from all my jobs at this party and we have to go to this class and I'm like fuck the class
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I didn't realize this story ended in tragedy.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_00]: I'm sorry.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_02]: I was a sort of bubbling along on my high thinking of Woody and Alyssa playing in the wet.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_02]: But now I know you you probably missed the duet because well, I mean, that's like when we were leaving during the duet.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no, no.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, this is okay, but enough about me.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_00]: Let's talk about you.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 8:01[SPEAKER_00]: So I
- 8:05[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_00]: So wait, wait, wait, hold on.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_00]: I mentioned MSW media and that's because you had a podcast on what was your podcast on MSW media?
- 8:13[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, lawyers guns and money.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_02]: That's right.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_02]: You guys were great with that.
- 8:17[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, that was a look at the Iran Contra scandal through through the eyes of John Mattis who was one of the first people who stumbled on it.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_02]: And it's an amazing, amazing story.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_02]: John Mattis was a local public defender in Miami who has this guy, you know, because he gets assigned all the goofballs and weirdos.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_02]: And this guy came in and said, they arrested me for having a machine gun in my house, but they can't do that because I worked for the CIA.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_02]: He was like, sure you do.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_02]: And the guy said, you don't believe me, call this phone number.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_02]: And so John Mattis said, bro, you know, give me a dial the number.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_02]: And it was the White House.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_02]: It was the chief's staff.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_02]: So he ended up being one of the people who uncovered the Iran Contra scandal.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_02]: and really, really fascinating story.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_02]: Also, just amazing characters at the time, because the United States was involved in an illegal war, the government had to work with all these nuts and drug dealers and militia guys.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_02]: That's because, you know, you weren't, you happened to go through channels of people willing to illegally fight a war, you know?
- 9:38[SPEAKER_02]: So it becomes this kind of, you know, bizarre
- 9:44[SPEAKER_02]: You know, trip to the dark side.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, like at one point, the the international power boat champion plays a part in it.
- 9:53[SPEAKER_02]: While while he's racing from the Caribbean to Miami with James Con.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's like, you're like, this, I did not expect this story to go.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_02]: This is what I mean.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_02]: But it's called lawyers guns and money.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_02]: I got him Jack Bryan.
- 10:09[SPEAKER_02]: wrote and produced it.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_02]: And he did a thing called Act of Measures, a documentary called That Measures.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, he's a really talented guy.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_02]: And that was just that was a really fun, interesting story.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_02]: And any, you know, a real
- 10:25[SPEAKER_02]: intro into how very powerful people are just not held accountable.
- 10:30[SPEAKER_02]: The Reagan administration was doing something incredibly illegal.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_02]: And the major participants barely had any consequences.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_02]: And Ron Reagan, in fact, was entirely unscathed.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_02]: Of course.
- 10:47[SPEAKER_02]: So these kinds of presidential accountability
- 10:53[SPEAKER_02]: have has unfortunately dog dust since obviously watergate and you know it's you feel you tend to feel like if we'd come down a little harder on that maybe we wouldn't be what we're being dealing with what we're dealing with right now.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, indeed.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_00]: Well, before we get into the political, I want to ask you a couple of questions just about your life as an actor, and then I kind of want to go into some politics, but, you know, speaking of living in a country where people aren't held accountable.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_00]: This is just a strange question.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_00]: How do you stay entertained?
- 11:30[SPEAKER_00]: And this fashion chapter of America because I mean it's really important I think that we take care of ourselves in laugh, you know, or be entertained.
- 11:40[SPEAKER_02]: Right now we're in a very weird moment because it is clear.
- 11:45[SPEAKER_02]: If we were observing what is happening in the United States happening in any other country, we would say, this is an authoritarian government takeover.
- 11:52[SPEAKER_02]: This is what it has occurred.
- 11:54[SPEAKER_02]: But because we're inside it, and because it hasn't affected our daily lives that much.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_02]: You know, we still come home and watch the Love Island reunion episode, which wasn't very good by the way.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_02]: I just want to give everybody a heads up.
- 12:10[SPEAKER_02]: You know, there's some a couple of moments of drama.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_02]: But my point being that our, you know, we don't perceive it.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_02]: You know, a fundamental our country has been betrayed in a way that it has not been since the Civil War.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_02]: is a huge change in America and in our government and how we see ourselves.
- 12:34[SPEAKER_02]: But we're still going about doing our normal things.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_02]: But I do believe that people, you can
- 12:44[SPEAKER_02]: be miserable all the time with the things that we as citizens have very little control over because we're all individual citizens.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not a billionaire.
- 12:57[SPEAKER_02]: So we do have to take our joy where we can find it and I love
- 13:02[SPEAKER_02]: You know, you know, I love, I love television.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_02]: I love making television.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_02]: I love comedy.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_02]: I love going out to clubs.
- 13:10[SPEAKER_02]: This is a great time to go out to comedy clubs.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of comedians are doing some pretty amazing political commentary at the same time while being hilarious.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_02]: Mark Marin is going to film.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_02]: special out right now.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_02]: So good.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_02]: So you can feel a part of it and you can get community and you can say, this is a surreal moment.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_02]: But you also have to show up at the demonstrations.
- 13:37[SPEAKER_02]: And you also have to vote.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_02]: And you also have to talk to your friends and say, hey, wait a minute.
- 13:41[SPEAKER_02]: America is fundamentally different now.
- 13:44[SPEAKER_02]: We have a convicted criminal in the White House who has opened the doors to crime and he's basically
- 13:50[SPEAKER_02]: by, you know, he's shaking down all these corporations, he's shaking down these, you know, lawyer legal firms, he's shaking down entertainment companies, you know, this is a mafia state.
- 14:06[SPEAKER_02]: And, but because he's done it publicly, people think for some reason that it's okay, or there is a sizeable amount of the public that feel like, well, you know, some, you know, the New York Times would have a blaring headline, America, a mafia state.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_02]: if this would really happen.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_02]: But no, you know, the New York Times bending over backwards to say, you know, Trump seems to be a new kind of president.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_02]: So it's like they say, well, New York Times isn't even all that alarmed by it, you know.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 14:35[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, it is a economy that people are having a very hard time digesting.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you know, I think it's interesting to say that because one of the things that I like to do, I watch, not going to get into the details of who she is, but it's a woman on YouTube.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_00]: And she kind of just shares parts of her life and what she does.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, I wonder about her because everything seems like everything's great, you know?
- 15:03[SPEAKER_00]: She's just excited to buy this new thing from Target, which I don't know when I'm getting the target thing.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_00]: But, you know, she buys stuff to decorate her house from Target.
- 15:12[SPEAKER_00]: She takes her kids out and I'm like,
- 15:15[SPEAKER_00]: Do you know what's happening?
- 15:17[SPEAKER_00]: Are you aware because I know there's a huge part of the country that isn't even aware because like you said, our lives, some lives have changed, but most people in America haven't really outside of maybe some rising prices and groceries and stuff like that.
- 15:34[SPEAKER_00]: We're not real or I should say in some blue cities seeing a military presence.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_00]: But most people in America are
- 15:44[SPEAKER_00]: Not really feeling the change that's going on.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_00]: They're not paying attention so they don't know and they don't feel it yet.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_00]: Although I have a feeling that that's not going to it's not going to be too long before.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, they will in the coming months.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, there's a lot of regular folks who expect to get a COVID booster.
- 16:02[SPEAKER_02]: Right and they're about to be told you can't get one unless you have unless you go to a doctor and get a prescription for one and you have to have you know you have to have some debilitating issue that that means that it's okay for you to get it and oh yeah by the way that debilitating issue might get mentioned to your insurance company and you might not be able to get insurance anymore.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I mean they don't they don't
- 16:24[SPEAKER_02]: You know, people haven't come up against the ramifications by and large, but they will over the next few months, and obviously next couple of years.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_02]: But again, it might be too late then, politically.
- 16:39[SPEAKER_02]: So, I don't want anybody to suffer.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_02]: I don't want anybody to go through hardship on really sad that people chose
- 16:54[SPEAKER_02]: convicted criminal to, you know, run the nation.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_02]: I'm, you know, I'm baffled why they felt that was a good idea.
- 17:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_02]: But we're going to be dealing with the consequences for a long time.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, we will.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_00]: And of course, we went into politics, but I'm going to ask you a couple more questions about your, your famous nests.
- 17:13[SPEAKER_02]: That should be like, you know, when you say your majesty, it's a cry job.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_02]: No, excuse me, refer to me as your famousness.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_00]: Your famousness.
- 17:23[SPEAKER_00]: So what part of being famous has surprised you the most?
- 17:31[SPEAKER_00]: Or maybe not the most, but what is one of the most surprising parts, I should say, of being a famous person?
- 17:39[SPEAKER_02]: Well, gosh.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_02]: It's only as bad as you sort of let it be.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you know, there are I like to look at it as being the mayor of a small town.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_02]: It feels like you're the mayor of a small town.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, because you go into the supermarket and there's a bunch of people who know you and they have ideas about you.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_02]: And you don't necessarily know them.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe you do, but it's nice to see them.
- 18:07[SPEAKER_02]: It's nice to know that they care about your work, whether they like it or not.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_02]: Some of them just want a moment with you.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_02]: They want to feel like you heard them and are grateful to meet them for a moment.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_02]: And that's great.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_02]: You know, and I'm happy to do that.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_02]: That was part and parcel of doing what I do.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_02]: You know, you don't become an actor so that nobody ever takes attention to what you do.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_02]: You know, so that I've had some connection with people through comedy or through, you know, even go back to like pretty in pink or whatever, you know, that they that they felt some connection to me is is I'm grateful for that and it's very valuable.
- 18:50[SPEAKER_02]: So I, you know, I'm, I'm generally very happy to take time with people.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_02]: Although I have to say once every Sunday I did a goofy little show.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_02]: They did a live reading of the return of the Jedi.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_02]: I was see three PO.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_02]: But I came out and I was swarmed by autograph seekers.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_02]: And by the way, it's been a long time since I was absolutely swarmed by autographs.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_02]: You know, obviously when I was on the show that happened a lot, but you know, it's been the show ended in, when he, fifteen or whatever.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_02]: So, but the big issue was that my wife and I have a new puppy and we had to create her and she was created and my wife wasn't home that night while I was doing the thing.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, I gotta get home to un-create my puppy and that could no ice with the autographs because I was like, do you understand?
- 19:36[SPEAKER_02]: There is a puppy in a crate.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_02]: Needs to be released from that crate.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_02]: But you are John Crier, your famous John Crier, you know, so I tried to.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_02]: But you know, again, I was a huge, there's plenty of actors who I was a infamous fan.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_02]: And the second I got a minute of the FaceTime with them, you know, I was a dork and, you know, and, but it was, but you know, having a connection with an artist is a big deal, you know, it's something we should honor.
- 20:06[SPEAKER_02]: So I try to honor it as much as possible.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_02]: I don't love that I, that I've,
- 20:11[SPEAKER_02]: I don't like I do when I do talk about politics.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_02]: I really wish I didn't have to.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_02]: I only started talking about politics when one Trump arose because if you're in any way familiar with history like at all, you see exactly who this guy is.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_02]: You know, he's like he's a right.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_02]: He's a strong man authoritarian.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_02]: You know, again, I almost hate calling him that because it lays into his own stupid imagery as well.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_02]: you know, hyper masculine bullshit.
- 20:41[SPEAKER_02]: But it's cosplay, obviously.
- 20:44[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 20:45[SPEAKER_02]: He's the dottering idiot.
- 20:50[SPEAKER_02]: But you could see that that's who he was and that's who he was going to be from day one.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_02]: And so I felt like I'm sorry, I got to wait into this.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_02]: I really hadn't done it before.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_02]: And so now it is a little weird.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_02]: I do cringe a little because when people recognize me, I always wonder are they somebody who's going to be unhappy with.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_00]: the what I've said, you know, but but again, that's I can't let that's not me again because I am I am aware of history and how these things go and we're you know, I know I speak for many when we say that we're grateful for your voice and for anybody who has a large platform because as somebody who's as influential as you are, your words have weight sometimes your words have more weight than others and that's just because of the way
- 21:38[SPEAKER_00]: Human psychology is, you know, we have these people that we adore and we love and then so we hear them sharing opinion and maybe it validates our own or it introduces us to something that we hadn't thought of.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, I do want to say thank you for that.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_00]: And then I also just remember to have one more degree of separation from you, which is Harry Dean Stanton.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_00]: Did you know that Harry Dean used to play music?
- 22:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, yes, he, uh, I've been to a couple of parties where he broke out his guitar.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, yeah, no, he's got a great country.
- 22:11[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, owner thing going on.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_00]: He's wonder he was wonderful and he used to play out a place called Jack Sugar Shack in LA and he played with the guy Jamie James and Jamie was the guitarist and I used to kind of go out with Jamie.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_00]: So there he goes.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_02]: There's another degree of separation.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_02]: That's not separation.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_02]: That's so brutal.
- 22:30[SPEAKER_00]: No, I don't know what happened between Jamie and me, but it's not really going out.
- 22:35[SPEAKER_00]: It was a weird friendship.
- 22:37[SPEAKER_00]: That's basically what it was.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_00]: It was like, we kissed.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, but that was about it.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_00]: Like we didn't do much more.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_01]: You don't have to describe everything.
- 22:44[SPEAKER_00]: I won't go into much more intimacy.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you're trying to grab my hand.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_01]: But I just, I just, I just don't know what I'm trying to do.
- 22:51[SPEAKER_01]: It was fun.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_01]: There's no big deal.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_01]: He was taking a shot.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_01]: Whatever.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_00]: But I just remembered that was another degree.
- 22:59[SPEAKER_00]: Anyway, but Harry was awesome and I met him several times.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_00]: He was very cool.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, wait a minute.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_00]: Hold on.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_00]: I want to ask you.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_00]: Here's what I want to ask you.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_00]: What is something?
- 23:09[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 23:10[SPEAKER_00]: I'm going to say interesting.
- 23:12[SPEAKER_00]: You can you can define it anyway you like, but what is something interesting about you that we don't know or that we would be interested in knowing.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe that's a better way of saying.
- 23:24[SPEAKER_02]: I am a huge, I guess it could call it an aficionado.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_02]: I'm fascinated by the space race.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_02]: Wow.
- 23:36[SPEAKER_02]: I love that period of history.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_02]: It's really fascinating to me.
- 23:40[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's got a lot of horrible ironic, you know, parts of it in terms of, you know, this was
- 23:49[SPEAKER_02]: You know, the era of civil rights, you know, and America trying to sort of see itself and better itself and and trying to achieve something with the moon landing, that was a, an assertion of soft power, an idea being that that instead of war, we would
- 24:11[SPEAKER_02]: We would show the world that we were, you know, we were the best way to live, you know.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_02]: And again, for all that's, you know, I mean, again, there's horrible ironies in that, you know, so much money was spent on the space program yet poverty was horrible in the United States at the time.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, and obviously we were doing it dealing with the, you know, racial
- 24:32[SPEAKER_02]: tumult at the time.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_02]: So we're totally done with that, by the way.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_02]: Now we're totally everything's peaceful.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_02]: Everything's perfect.
- 24:40[SPEAKER_02]: Everything's perfect now.
- 24:42[SPEAKER_02]: But it is an incredibly fascinating period of history.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_02]: And I had always been fascinated with the Soviet side, because as Americans, we barely heard about that.
- 24:55[SPEAKER_02]: For Americans, it's like, we won the Space Race, and that's all that happened.
- 24:59[SPEAKER_02]: And it's like, well, no, there was actually
- 25:01[SPEAKER_02]: They beat us to every achievement before that.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_02]: They had Sputnik, and they had the brand man, Yuri Gagarin.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_02]: And the first woman in space, Valentina Trescova, and the first multiple crew members, and the first spacewalk.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, they did everything before we did.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_02]: And there was a very different, and their space program was totally
- 25:29[SPEAKER_02]: It was very ironic because we had a almost socialized space program.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_02]: The Lyndon Johnson broke it up amongst the states.
- 25:40[SPEAKER_02]: There was a huge bureaucracy.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it was all done in very sort of plotting fashion.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_02]: Meanwhile, the Soviets who were famous for splitting things up and being very slow and plotting were basically cowboys.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_02]: You know, they were just shooting off things every, every, every few weeks.
- 25:57[SPEAKER_02]: You know,
- 25:59[SPEAKER_02]: And so again, fascinating and the history of it is just endlessly fascinating to me.
- 26:08[SPEAKER_00]: Have you watched for all mankind?
- 26:10[SPEAKER_00]: I have.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_00]: I love that series.
- 26:15[SPEAKER_00]: And I don't know if you know this about me, but I lived in Soviet Russia when I was twelve.
- 26:20[SPEAKER_00]: So my father worked for ABC News.
- 26:23[SPEAKER_00]: He was a cameraman and that's why I had the opportunity to go.
- 26:25[SPEAKER_00]: And I remember when Trump was first elected and Hillary Clinton kept telling us
- 26:31[SPEAKER_00]: what the deal was and how Russians were backing him.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, I even though I understood communism in a way, or at least I should say Soviet communism, more so than other people have the opportunity anyway.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_00]: It didn't even hit me when she was warning us what was going on.
- 26:50[SPEAKER_00]: And then in twenty seventeen, when he became president and then we started finding out that Russians were helping him.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_00]: It, you know, oh, it's like dawned on me.
- 27:00[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, and I mean, I didn't vote for him.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_00]: So too late, everything doesn't really matter because I voted for her.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_00]: But I realized, oh, this country could turn very quickly.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_00]: You know, people don't realize that.
- 27:11[SPEAKER_00]: They, you know, they are quick to tell you, oh, it will never happen here.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_00]: and it's happening here and I you know that first term we had guardrails this term we don't so it's really scary because there's a picture circulating on the internet today of DC and you know it's it's some federal building with trumps I think it looks like his mugshot
- 27:35[SPEAKER_00]: And then, you know, you're seeing, and it's like draped, you know, just like you'd see in China.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_02]: The banner, it's, I believe it's a department of labor because of the head of it, the secretary at the, at the, at the big meeting yesterday was talking about, you can come see your big beautiful face on that time of building.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_02]: It's horrifying to watch.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_02]: It's, it's just, you can't believe that it's, that this is America.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_02]: Yes, I mean, people always wondered, you know, what's, what's Trump's thing with Russia?
- 28:02[SPEAKER_02]: And it's like,
- 28:04[SPEAKER_02]: why is he so entranced by Putin it's like it's not it's not that I don't you know I don't know if Putin has you know I think he does he may I don't know I mean you know for years obviously the Russian mafia was very active in the city you know the
- 28:21[SPEAKER_02]: mafia's of all stripes in New York City were very active.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, if you're in construction in real estate, you have to deal with mafia controlled businesses.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_02]: So who knows what happened?
- 28:32[SPEAKER_02]: I don't, you know, we obviously know the money laundering that the Trump's Taj Mahal was involved with.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_02]: He was, they were fine to ten million dollars, which was largest.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_02]: that'll find at that time.
- 28:42[SPEAKER_02]: So obviously, you know, I don't know exactly what went down there.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_02]: But it's clear to me, and I asked Michael Cohen about this and he agreed that it's not necessarily that he's being extorted by Putin.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_02]: Trump just really wants to be Putin.
- 29:02[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I agree with that America's Putin.
- 29:04[SPEAKER_02]: He wants to turn the United States into a mafia state like Putin's Russia is.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, you were there when communism was, which was a very different kind of authoritarianism.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously, when communism collapsed, all the state assets got sold off and became controlled by oligarchs and an organized crime.
- 29:26[SPEAKER_02]: organized crime had been functioning under the service in communist Russia.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_02]: But that was when they sort of came out because the government had basically collapsed.
- 29:36[SPEAKER_02]: And the government had was broke.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_02]: So whoever controlled the government assets could make billions.
- 29:44[SPEAKER_02]: And so you get this oligarchical mafia state.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_02]: And that's what Russia is.
- 29:50[SPEAKER_02]: And that's what Trump is trying to do right now.
- 29:54[SPEAKER_02]: He wants, you know, a mafia state.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_02]: Obviously the Republicans want to dismantle the federal government enough.
- 30:02[SPEAKER_02]: that they can privatize most of its functions and re-segregate the United States.
- 30:10[SPEAKER_02]: And obviously paternalize the law so that the law is basically patriarchal again.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_02]: So that's what they want long term.
- 30:18[SPEAKER_02]: And he's their instrument for doing that.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_02]: But I don't know if how much he's going to bite them in the ass in terms of his autocratic tendencies.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, well, you know, many people are hoping.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_00]: You know what many people are hoping for.
- 30:41[SPEAKER_00]: It's the thing that when you wake up every morning, you're like checking your phone.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_00]: Did it happen yet?
- 30:46[SPEAKER_00]: Did it happen yet?
- 30:47[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, it's funny.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_00]: And I talk about this a lot on my show, but there are a lot of people out there.
- 30:53[SPEAKER_00]: whether they are, you know, political analysts.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_00]: I love seeing, you know, on YouTube.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_00]: I do the collection of, there's like keyfets, Edwards, Adam, Moccler, David Pacman, all these young guys, and they're talking about politics.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_00]: The question is like, is Trump dying?
- 31:12[SPEAKER_00]: is, you know, even Keith Obermann, you know, is Trump dying.
- 31:16[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody's asking the question.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_00]: So that question is basically, you know, people think that he doesn't, he's not going to make it these four years.
- 31:24[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of people, whether it's like friends of my family, people online, whatever.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe it's just hopeful thought we don't know what's going to happen to him, but along these lines,
- 31:35[SPEAKER_00]: Let's just say that something happens, and Trump is not able to fulfill his term.
- 31:41[SPEAKER_00]: Whether he, you know, there's some medical incident that keeps him from the presidency, or he actually, you know, says goodbye to the world.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_00]: Then we would get JD events, and there's all this speculation about what kind of a president he would be.
- 31:55[SPEAKER_00]: And, you know, it's my estimation that he would be a horrible president, and then he would totally use the levers of power to do everything, you know, to get project, twenty, twenty, five,
- 32:04[SPEAKER_00]: solidified and all of that, he's an oligarch, but he does not have the same charisma Donald Trump has with the mega base.
- 32:10[SPEAKER_00]: So my question to you is, if we are faced with the JD Vance presidency, where do you, I mean, I know, I like to say this, I said this to Brian Kerim last week, I know you're not an oracle, but at the same time, you know, like do you have any kind of feeling of where that might go?
- 32:27[SPEAKER_00]: He's not a popular guy, what do you think that would look like and how do you think that that would affect
- 32:34[SPEAKER_00]: the population.
- 32:34[SPEAKER_00]: How do you think they would see him?
- 32:36[SPEAKER_02]: It's really hard to tell.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_02]: He is not liked.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_02]: He obviously has zero charisma.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know.
- 32:45[SPEAKER_02]: You know, he's, you know, he has
- 32:50[SPEAKER_02]: You know, his backstory is full of, you know, far right intellectuals and air quotes.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_02]: You know, and I don't think he had, I mean, the reason where we are, where we are is because the Republicans in Congress.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_02]: It is that they are, there's a few of them who pretend that they know he's an asshole, but we're getting some stuff done.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_02]: But a lot of them are nutty Trumpers, or Trump cultists.
- 33:27[SPEAKER_02]: So I don't, I do think they will probably collapse to infighting and not be able to govern the best of least.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but I don't know, you know, and they are running up against their own things, you know, obviously they have seen scandal is is, you know, I think they they gave
- 33:46[SPEAKER_02]: They poured gasoline on that fire.
- 33:49[SPEAKER_02]: It's burning their own houses.
- 33:54[SPEAKER_02]: By the way, I just want to say, I don't know that there's a smoking gun there.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_02]: I have some real questions about it.
- 34:01[SPEAKER_02]: Like remember, there were these data CDs that were wheeled out.
- 34:05[SPEAKER_02]: We all saw them on camera.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_02]: and the FBI has those were the they were supposedly photo CDs obviously I'm zero interest in seeing the photos but I do want to know who's in them yeah you know and and and you know by the way Jeffrey Epstein was
- 34:22[SPEAKER_02]: He was an incredibly wealthy guy.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_02]: He sponsored all kinds of conferences.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_02]: That's a way of washing your reputation with people because you're paying all these wonderful people.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_02]: You're paying their way to come show up at my conference.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_02]: And all these people are like, okay, I'll take a free trip.
- 34:43[SPEAKER_02]: And so you have them.
- 34:44[SPEAKER_02]: But you all have people who are like, oh, I hear he procures young women who probably show up because they're hoping to have one of those young women.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, there's going to be just people who showed up for the conference and there's going to be awful people.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 35:01[SPEAKER_02]: But we know
- 35:03[SPEAKER_02]: Trump is on the list, you know, Trump is on the flight logs.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_02]: We know that, you know, obviously they had a team of FBI agents scouring his, you know, pulling, redacting his name from the file.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_02]: So there was like a thousand of them supposedly.
- 35:17[SPEAKER_02]: So that's a lot of places.
- 35:20[SPEAKER_02]: And he's a confessed serial sexual predator.
- 35:23[SPEAKER_02]: You know, he admitted it.
- 35:25[SPEAKER_02]: You know, so, so I don't know that there's a smoking gun.
- 35:29[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, obviously we, you know,
- 35:32[SPEAKER_02]: that birthday card was, you know, incredibly damning and discussed by the way, is claiming that that isn't him.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_02]: Of course, you know, I mean, he, you know, he was saying, I don't draw things, you know, which except that he totally draws things exactly.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_02]: So, so I mean, that's
- 35:51[SPEAKER_02]: You know, this is hurting him deservedly, you know, but again, I don't know that there's necessarily anything in there that's, you know, him caught in Plagrante, you know, somebody inappropriate.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_02]: And, oh, but he's laying, he laying stood up for him, so I'm sure he's totally on the wall.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, he's just a stand-up guy.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_02]: So anyway, you know, by the way, I don't know even clearly he's getting IVs.
- 36:16[SPEAKER_02]: He's getting his hands have been, they've been, and they've clumsily trying to cover that up and lying about it at White House press conferences.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, he got that from shaking hands.
- 36:26[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's, they're clearly lying about his medical condition.
- 36:29[SPEAKER_02]: We know that.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know that he, that's sick enough
- 36:32[SPEAKER_02]: for him to actually pass away in the next three years.
- 36:39[SPEAKER_02]: Honestly, I don't want to, you know, I don't want President Vance.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_02]: I don't, you know, this whole thing is a flip and disaster.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I don't wish I don't wish death on anybody.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_02]: And
- 36:54[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I hope.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, wouldn't be great if just one day he said, you know what, this is a bad idea.
- 37:02[SPEAKER_02]: And he said for mine, let's all, let's, you know what, I'm going to step down, JD, you step down.
- 37:07[SPEAKER_02]: Let's all step down, you know, this was a
- 37:11[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what I was thinking.
- 37:12[SPEAKER_00]: We only can wish.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I maybe, you know, I know you're not hoping for any one's death and I'm not going to say publicly that I am either, but there's a lot of people are hoping.
- 37:24[SPEAKER_00]: Well, many people.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_02]: He's already harmed a lot of people and the amount of people that are going to be harmed in the next couple of years is
- 37:32[SPEAKER_02]: You know, is massive and you know, but he's of course going to deflect and say, it's not me.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_02]: It's not this.
- 37:38[SPEAKER_02]: It's not, you know, it's the Democrats.
- 37:40[SPEAKER_00]: So it's Joe Biden.
- 37:41[SPEAKER_00]: It's always going to be Joe Biden or Barack Obama's fault.
- 37:44[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
- 37:45[SPEAKER_02]: Exactly.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_00]: So okay.
- 37:47[SPEAKER_00]: So another question for you.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_00]: That's not necessarily.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_00]: I know I know you can only speculate, but I just thought this was kind of interesting and
- 37:57[SPEAKER_00]: Greg, I had Greg Oliar on a while back, and he did this deep dive into, you know, Nazi Germany and the rise of Hitler, and he was saying, the one thing that we have going for us is that we do have resistance within our government, because as we're seeing right now, Gavin, knew some Pritzker, a number of Democrats are standing up.
- 38:19[SPEAKER_00]: It's my personal belief that they all should and all of them are, but that's a whole nother conversation.
- 38:25[SPEAKER_00]: But we're also seeing resistance, okay, so that wasn't existing in early part of the rise of Nazism.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_00]: And then also there really wasn't a resistance from just regular people.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_00]: And I want to note that there is a lot of resistance, a lot of these people who are showing up to protests are boomers.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_00]: And I know boomers get a bad rap.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_00]: And maybe in some cases, deservedly because of who they vote for, but I'm Gen X and Gen X disappointed this time too.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_00]: Um, but the older people are showing up.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_02]: I've certainly are.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, Stephen Miller recently said it's a bunch of old hippies.
- 39:04[SPEAKER_02]: Well, there you go.
- 39:05[SPEAKER_02]: There you go.
- 39:06[SPEAKER_02]: He's the old hippies are clearly scaring the shit out of Stephen Miller.
- 39:10[SPEAKER_02]: You know, so great.
- 39:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, and I'll take it.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I think we all should be.
- 39:16[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and it is frustrating for me because you go to like the No Kings demonstration, which was huge, you know, and, and, you know, unfortunately demonstrations don't get a lot of coverage unless there is violence.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_02]: And if you recall like the Tea Party, if you remember the Tea Party, you know, that was like five guys who would show up to everything that they're trying corn hats and yellow.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_02]: and have some doopy signs.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_02]: And that got enormous coverage.
- 39:48[SPEAKER_00]: Of course, the did.
- 39:50[SPEAKER_02]: Huge media coverage for years.
- 39:52[SPEAKER_02]: And no kings was millions of people.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_02]: And it is just not being, I think a lot of the, unfortunately, the media, because there is now a billionaire class that owns the media.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_02]: Now, they are reticent to
- 40:12[SPEAKER_02]: play into the narrative that is clearly occurring, which is that people are furious.
- 40:16[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, people are, you go, if you go to a town hall, it's, it's people are pay, people are showing up to town halls, which doesn't really happen.
- 40:25[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_02]: And, and that people are incredibly vocal at these things.
- 40:33[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I mean, in LA, I went to one and, and
- 40:37[SPEAKER_02]: You know, LA, it's a very fractious.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_02]: You know, people, there's always a million things argue about an LA, everybody has a million things that they disagree on.
- 40:45[SPEAKER_02]: But the one area of total unanimity was the rage directed at ICE.
- 40:52[SPEAKER_02]: You know, and we have racism here.
- 40:54[SPEAKER_02]: We have, you know, we have lots, you know, there's plenty of people who don't like immigrants.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_02]: But there is, by the way, a shocking number of immigrants who don't like immigrants.
- 41:09[SPEAKER_02]: But the rage at masked gunmen, you know, abducting people off the street, abducting people from their court hearings, you know, you know, the, the, the barest pretext of reasons for, for claiming these people are violent.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_02]: You know, either by the way, a lot of them are absolutely documented again.
- 41:33[SPEAKER_02]: They're going through the process.
- 41:34[SPEAKER_02]: You know, they're not undocumented people.
- 41:38[SPEAKER_02]: You know, that was was there was utter unanimity at the town hall that I went to.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_00]: That's good to hear.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that is, again, going with Greg, what Greg was saying, there is stuff that's happening in this country that gives us hope, which, okay, so this leads me to my last question.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_00]: And I know you're a busy guy, you got other places to go, other people to see, so I'm so grateful you have this time to give me.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_00]: And let's end this with, like, what are you seeing that gives you hope?
- 42:13[SPEAKER_02]: Well, it gives me hope is is the town halls in red states.
- 42:17[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_02]: That's what that's what gives me hope because because there's video, you know, almost every day of somebody just tearing into a Republican publicly, you know,
- 42:32[SPEAKER_02]: That's real bravery you know people is people in their communities people you know going before a group of people who probably a bunch of those people know them you know and very bravely saying you are full of it you are utterly full of it you said a bunch of things that you were gonna do
- 42:47[SPEAKER_02]: And you guys aren't doing any of it.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_02]: You know, you guys are just sucking up to Trump at this point.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_02]: You don't care about, you know, Medicare Medicaid.
- 42:55[SPEAKER_02]: You know, you don't care about preserving that for people.
- 42:58[SPEAKER_02]: You know, care how much trouble people are going to go through.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_02]: You know, you want to cut taxes for rich people and and suck up to Trump and save your your ass in terms of your, you know,
- 43:11[SPEAKER_02]: in terms of your own elected ass.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, that gives me hope.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_02]: And people, you know, their does.
- 43:21[SPEAKER_02]: You know, I am sensing a real, I think this last Sunday of the talk shows, the Democratic response was so merely mouth to, you know, to the National Guard being deployed in Washington, D.C.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_02]: That there is a certain amount of, okay, Democrats need new leadership or if somebody needs to
- 43:44[SPEAKER_02]: So many institutions take over because they are what they are doing now is useless.
- 43:49[SPEAKER_02]: It's worse than useless.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_02]: It's giving the opposition time to do what they want.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_02]: And so I do think communication with some of the reps that I've worked with.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_02]: And they do seem to get that there is a
- 44:07[SPEAKER_02]: You know, there is a real rage right now because something has fundamentally changed.
- 44:13[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_02]: You know, we're not it's we're there.
- 44:16[SPEAKER_02]: You know, the United States of America, you know, a country that was, you know, founded on a lot of ideals, a lot of which we never, we never quite fulfilled has fundamentally become an authoritarian state.
- 44:27[SPEAKER_02]: That is what has happened.
- 44:29[SPEAKER_02]: It's incredibly sad.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_02]: I'm sad about it.
- 44:31[SPEAKER_02]: I, you know, I'm going to do everything I can to fight it where, you know, countries have come out of authoritarianism.
- 44:39[SPEAKER_02]: It happens.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_02]: You know, you need a vast people powered.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_02]: movement, you know, and Americans, we as a culture, we're not used to demonstrations, you know, Europeans, they're used to, you know, oh, what's the demo for today, you know, but we're not used to that.
- 44:56[SPEAKER_02]: We, you know, we have a, you know, there's a sort of gut level distrust of civil disobedience of most Americans, you know, but people are really frustrated and really scared.
- 45:07[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm hoping that it is
- 45:10[SPEAKER_02]: massive nonviolent movement.
- 45:13[SPEAKER_02]: That is the way that it has changed in most places.
- 45:19[SPEAKER_02]: We all actually have to do it though.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we have to do it.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's what Rachel Madel said early on that, you know, she was noticing all of the resistance and she says as long as it stays nonviolent.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_00]: No, of course, we know that there could be bad actors, but beyond that, if it's if the majority is nonviolent, it is that is how we will overcome this.
- 45:37[SPEAKER_00]: And it's from all of the
- 45:40[SPEAKER_00]: people who study fascism and authoritarianism, it's usually, you got an effect in the beginning before release summits.
- 45:49[SPEAKER_00]: And anyway, I just, I could talk to you forever, but like I said, I know.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_00]: I know you have other things to do.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_00]: So thank you so much for spending some time with me today.
- 45:59[SPEAKER_00]: I really appreciate it.
- 46:00[SPEAKER_00]: I think you're awesome.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_00]: We all love you.
- 46:01[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
- 46:02[SPEAKER_02]: Well, thanks.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_02]: So kind of you.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_02]: I have a, I'm sure a fancy Malibu party that I'm being invited to.
- 46:08[SPEAKER_02]: full of A-Listers that I've just got to run.
- 46:11[SPEAKER_02]: I've got to run and so give it to my friends.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_02]: Give me such a pleasure.
- 46:19[SPEAKER_02]: Thanks for asking.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_02]: It was very kind to ask me to do this and I'm sure we will talk again and I enjoy your feed.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_02]: social media.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_02]: Thank you.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_02]: I recommend it to folks, although they are people listening crowd.
- 46:34[SPEAKER_00]: Well, maybe some new people who are just here to say hello to you.
- 46:37[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm awesome, John.
- 46:39[SPEAKER_00]: Well, thank you so much and you have a lovely one.
- 46:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
