- 0:23chickens. Hey everybody.
- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30Ooh, today we are talking about electronics and the effect that
- 0:35it has on you. And I'm not going to be here and
- 0:38preach about this and sit here and tell you, you know, you
- 0:42shouldn't do it at, your shouldn't should do it.
- 0:44Because basically I'm talking to you by way of a podcast that
- 0:49you're probably listening to on your phone and I would be a
- 0:51hypocrite if I said these things and ended up using them to, you
- 0:56know, help you by doing a podcast, what I'm talking about.
- 1:00About is looking at how they show up in your life and how
- 1:04they affect you, and being aware and monitoring no matter what s
- 1:09going on in your world, you probably have a title
- 1:11Electronics, whether it's a computer or phone and iPad
- 1:14something. These electronics are a part of
- 1:17our world and they have become a significant part of our world.
- 1:21I mean, for me, I'm very fortunate that I get to create
- 1:23this whole thing with for all of you with an iPhone and I can do
- 1:28it right out in the chicken coop and upload.
- 1:30It and you can listen to it wherever you want to go.
- 1:33The challenge that we have is when these electronic start to
- 1:36take over and they start to do things to us that we don't like
- 1:40which is distract us from our family.
- 1:42Distract us from connecting with each other and where this
- 1:45becomes such a significant problem is when you know, we
- 1:49used to be able to have conversations.
- 1:51At the end of the day, we used to be able to sit and play
- 1:53games. We used to be able to read
- 1:55books. And instead we find ourselves
- 1:57having a situation where these electrons Onyx are becoming our
- 2:03way of sedation where we're sitting on the couch.
- 2:05We may have a television even on we're watching a movie with
- 2:08somebody, but inevitably we're on our phone, we're checking
- 2:11something. We're watching videos, we're
- 2:14doing something else and we're disconnected from the other
- 2:17person. We're not paying attention to
- 2:19the other person. We're not giving them attention.
- 2:21And it, it has a significant effect on people and we have to
- 2:27realize that our Behavior whether we We like to admit it
- 2:31or not, our Behavior affects other people.
- 2:33And when you have other people in your home, in your world,
- 2:37like, even if you're by yourself, honestly.
- 2:40Do you really want to be Tethered to something like this
- 2:43so much that it creates that intensity in your world.
- 2:48So that pulls you away from people.
- 2:50So, truth be told I really, really monitor my own electronic
- 2:56use because I have a phone with me all day long, while I talk to
- 3:00clients. And then I have to create
- 3:03podcasts, I have to edit, there are a lot of beautiful things
- 3:07that are a result of electronics, but I have to watch
- 3:10out for it because I could spend all my time lost in that world
- 3:16easily. I could sit and edit create
- 3:18things. I have a love of painting on my
- 3:22iPad. I have a love of who going on
- 3:25and looking at different designs of different pictures editing
- 3:29photos. There are So many aspects of it
- 3:32that are so super cool and they are addictive.
- 3:36So the point I'm trying to make is just monitor yourself and do
- 3:41it gingerly and say, is this really stealing time away from
- 3:46me for other things that I might really want to be doing with my
- 3:49family, with my friends for myself, you know other than
- 3:53being Tethered to the electronic and pushing yourself to look at
- 3:58it from a perspective of Okay, I have to put this down.
- 4:03So my rule of thumb is I work really hard to put my phone down
- 4:08over the weekends. I do not like to pick up my
- 4:11phone. The only time I typically pick
- 4:13it up over the weekends is 2-1 record the podcast but to, I
- 4:17will pick it up if I want to take pictures of things because
- 4:20the camera is so extraordinary. But for the most part, what I
- 4:24really try to do is make sure that I'm using my regular
- 4:29camera, you know, my Cannon and I'm staying away from it because
- 4:33it really does make my brain feel better when I can
- 4:37disconnect from it. I challenge you to do the same.
- 4:40Even if you guys have a pocket like, you know, you create a
- 4:44pocket, it during your day, where you say, okay everyone for
- 4:47dinner, we're putting our phones away and for the next two hours,
- 4:49we are a phone-free Zone. Do it for the greater.
- 4:53Good of your family, do it for the greater.
- 4:54Good of your own psychology, do it for the greater.
- 4:57Good of the things that you know this will help and It up levels,
- 5:02you and allows you to come back to basics.
- 5:04So, I hope you found some value in this.
- 5:07I hope you take the challenge on, and I hope you see that this
- 5:10little, just this little bit here, and there will help.
- 5:14I promise it will create a huge difference in your life.
- 5:17I hope you guys have a very blessed day and I will see you
- 5:20tomorrow. Bye.
