- 0:06Speaker 3: Welcome to Tuesday here at ninety seven point one wash FM,
- 0:10Speaker 3: where we like to start the day with something that's
- 0:11Speaker 3: making you feel good before five o'clock in the morning. Chili,
- 0:15Speaker 3: why are you feeling good this morning?
- 0:17Speaker 4: Well, I'm gonna twist a negative into a positive. Okay,
- 0:20Speaker 4: I accidentally have both car keys with me, Oh no,
- 0:24Speaker 4: which means my husband's not going to be able to
- 0:27Speaker 4: drive our sun to the bus stop and or to school.
- 0:31Speaker 2: Oh no.
- 0:32Speaker 4: And I am going to focus on the positive. And
- 0:36Speaker 4: that is I realized it. I texted him so that
- 0:40Speaker 4: he can plan accordingly to either walk or uber And
- 0:44Speaker 4: it's going to be a decent morning, like it's not
- 0:46Speaker 4: a frigid, snowy, icy morning.
- 0:48Speaker 5: No, So thank God for that.
- 0:50Speaker 3: Well, if there's anything that's good about a day to
- 0:53Speaker 3: lose your keys, it's nothing. It's not losing well or
- 0:56Speaker 3: to snag the keys.
- 0:57Speaker 4: Wife he has both keys because she ran an airing
- 1:00Speaker 4: with the second car yesterday.
- 1:01Speaker 5: I forgot to put it back on these.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Well, my question is this, don't you guys have two
- 1:05Speaker 3: sets of keys to both cars, not to both just yeah, yeah,
- 1:11Speaker 3: I mean, who am I to talk? I've lost this
- 1:13Speaker 3: first set of keys to my car. I have no
- 1:15Speaker 3: idea where it is. Maybe it'll turn up when I'm only.
- 1:18Speaker 4: One car has two sets of keys, but that's going
- 1:21Speaker 4: to be useless to him because I'm driving that one.
- 1:23Speaker 3: Well, that's well, you know, there is a silver lining
- 1:27Speaker 3: to that dark cloud.
- 1:29Speaker 5: Again, it's not a snowy, icy, scrainy day.
- 1:31Speaker 3: Right, and an I super ride never hurts. I'm feeling
- 1:35Speaker 3: great this morning because today I got to go by
- 1:37Speaker 3: the post office and I have headphones that are part
- 1:40Speaker 3: of my home studio that have been like something happened
- 1:43Speaker 3: and the padding is off of it. So I randomly
- 1:46Speaker 3: sent an email to the people who make them and said, hey,
- 1:50Speaker 3: is there any way that this is covered? Sent a
- 1:53Speaker 3: picture because they you know, they're one of those places
- 1:56Speaker 3: that say they have like a lifetime guarantee, blah blah blah.
- 1:59Speaker 3: So I said, I'm gonna call you in on this,
- 2:02Speaker 3: and guess what they said, send it in, We'll get
- 2:04Speaker 3: it fixed.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Don't worry.
- 2:05Speaker 3: It was a design flaw on our part, and I'm like, okay,
- 2:09Speaker 3: which is a savings. Think the baby hasers, I don't
- 2:12Speaker 3: have to go buy a new set aheadphones. That's awesome anyway,
- 2:16Speaker 3: it's little things in the morning.
- 2:18Speaker 2: What's got you feeling good this morning?
- 2:20Speaker 3: Give us call it eight sixty six nine two seven

- 3:08Speaker 4: in jail on rape charges, is now accused in several
- 3:12Speaker 4: additional sexual assaults across northern Virginia and Maryland. Investigators say

- 3:25Speaker 4: victims identified. Adventis Healthcare says it's going to be closing
- 3:29Speaker 4: its Germantown emergency Center on July first after two decades
- 3:34Speaker 4: of service. The provider says that patient visits have declined

- 5:00Speaker 3: today all morning along with us Toby and Chilly in
- 5:02Speaker 3: the Morning. And it's time now for us to pause
- 5:05Speaker 3: and think about you and your mental health, your well being.
- 5:09Speaker 4: It's called our Morning Mindset, where we share a quote
- 5:12Speaker 4: for you to think about as you take on the
- 5:14Speaker 4: rest of the day.
- 5:15Speaker 3: All right, Michelle Ruiz says, if people are doubting how
- 5:18Speaker 3: far you can go, go so far you can't hear
- 5:23Speaker 3: them anymore. Michelle ruise, if people are doubting how far
- 5:26Speaker 3: you can go, go so far you can't hear them anymore. This,
- 5:31Speaker 3: I think is a message to us today that sometimes
- 5:35Speaker 3: success is simply just outlasting the noise and when I
- 5:42Speaker 3: say noise, I mean doubters, haters, whatever, insert whatever word here.
- 5:47Speaker 3: Sometimes outlasting that noise is one sign of great success.
- 5:53Speaker 3: Michelle Ruiz. If people are doubting how far you can go,
- 5:56Speaker 3: go so far you can't hear him anymore. That is
- 5:59Speaker 3: your morning mind set for this Tuesday, the tenth day
- 6:01Speaker 3: of March. And if you need it again, you'll find
- 6:04Speaker 3: it on our instead. Just search for us, or you
- 6:07Speaker 3: can go to the Toby and CHILIPAGEWASCHFM dot com. Stay
- 6:10Speaker 3: right there, because next.
- 6:12Speaker 4: There is a hotel in New York City that is
- 6:15Speaker 4: offering private Broadway shows in your suite.
- 6:19Speaker 3: Well, if you're a Broadway fan, you're gonna want to
- 6:22Speaker 3: hear this. And even if you're not, you're just looking
- 6:25Speaker 3: to overwhelm a Broadway fan, you're gonna want to hear this.
- 6:28Speaker 3: Stay there for even more. Why don't you take dinner
- 6:31Speaker 3: and a show to an entirely new level. It's ninety
- 6:34Speaker 3: seven point one wash FM Toby and Chilly in the morning.
- 6:37Speaker 3: Something called the rob Report says New York Spritz Carlton
- 6:40Speaker 3: is now offering a brand new perk in sweet Broadway
- 6:44Speaker 3: performances by two stars.
- 6:47Speaker 4: You can choose from a selection of musicals like Hamilton,
- 6:50Speaker 4: The Lion King. It's a private Broadway performance lasting an
- 6:54Speaker 4: hour in your suite.
- 6:56Speaker 3: Wow, yes, I mean that's an intimate meet and greet
- 6:59Speaker 3: with the performance because they're performing in your living room.
- 7:02Speaker 3: Well yeah, well, I mean, but for how much do
- 7:06Speaker 3: you think that's going to cost?
- 7:08Speaker 4: I don't even care how much it costs, if I'm
- 7:10Speaker 4: being honest, because part of what makes Broadway attractive to
- 7:13Speaker 4: me is the experience of going to a theater and
- 7:16Speaker 4: seeing an ensemble performance, not having a couple of people
- 7:19Speaker 4: from the show come into the room.
- 7:21Speaker 3: Yeah, there is something about the entire experience too, Yeah,
- 7:25Speaker 3: you know, like walking up, waiting in line a bit,
- 7:28Speaker 3: even dealing with the mad rush to get beverages and
- 7:32Speaker 3: snacks at intermission. You know, there's just something about seeing
- 7:35Speaker 3: Broadway in person, not in a hotel suite. But I
- 7:38Speaker 3: guess if you've got that kind of money and you
- 7:39Speaker 3: think it would be a great thing to do, then
- 7:42Speaker 3: I mean it'd be one incredible date.
- 7:44Speaker 2: Yeah, it would be a good date. Don't get a twist.
- 7:46Speaker 4: And if I did it, I'd just do it this once, right,
- 7:48Speaker 4: Like I wouldn't make it a habit of yeah. And
- 7:50Speaker 4: I don't know that the Ritz Carlton's going to do
- 7:52Speaker 4: this for indefinitely. I think it's just a short term
- 7:56Speaker 4: experience that they're selling a package for. But you know,
- 7:59Speaker 4: if it's so, I'm sure they'll bring it back again
- 8:01Speaker 4: and again.
- 8:02Speaker 2: Sure.
- 8:03Speaker 3: And there is a quiet season in New York when
- 8:06Speaker 3: it comes to you know, all of this stuff, so
- 8:08Speaker 3: like summertime, everybody's out at the island or whatever, and
- 8:12Speaker 3: you could enjoy Broadway stars in your Ritz Carlton. Sweet
- 8:17Speaker 3: Start saving now if you're planning on it, though, because
- 8:19Speaker 3: you know it's not going to be cheap. Do you
- 8:20Speaker 3: want to read more? You can Toby and chilipage washefm

- 8:36Speaker 3: you're really gonna want to hang with us.
- 8:39Speaker 4: That's why Sabrina Kanta keeps up our best of the
- 8:41Speaker 4: eighties and nineties a weekend.
- 8:43Speaker 1: On Friday, ninety seven point one WASHFM Washington at iHeartRadio station.
- 8:50Speaker 6: Coming up on Top Stories, Top of the Hour.
- 8:52Speaker 4: The President says the US military operation against Iran is
- 8:56Speaker 4: a head of schedule and is likely to end soon.
- 8:59Speaker 4: We've got the latest on that story and others on
- 9:02Speaker 4: the way with Toby and Chile in the morning on
- 9:04Speaker 4: ninety seven point one WASH FM.
- 9:09Speaker 6: Top Stories, Top of the Hour.
- 9:11Speaker 4: The President said yesterday that the US military operation against
- 9:15Speaker 4: Iran is likely to end soon and is ahead of schedule.
- 9:18Speaker 4: He stated to US and Israeli forces have carried out
- 9:21Speaker 4: highly complex operations, destroying more than fifty Iranian Navy ships
- 9:26Speaker 4: and continuing to degrade Iran's missile and drone capabilities. A
- 9:30Speaker 4: class action lawsuit has been filed against d C Water
- 9:33Speaker 4: after a major sewer pipe collapse dumped hundreds of millions
- 9:37Speaker 4: of gallons of raw sewage into the Potomac River back
- 9:41Speaker 4: in January. The suit alleges negligence and claims the spill
- 9:45Speaker 4: harmed property owners, boaters, and businesses, with thousands of people
- 9:49Speaker 4: potentially affected. A former DC Police officer from Fort Washington
- 9:54Speaker 4: is accused of several sexual assaults. Thirty year old Timothy
- 9:58Speaker 4: Valentine is facing more than thirty six charges, and police
- 10:02Speaker 4: allege the assaults happened in Maryland and Virginia. Starting back
- 10:05Speaker 4: in twenty twenty four, five Guys is bringing back its
- 10:09Speaker 4: buy one, get one free burger deal through this Thursday,
- 10:13Speaker 4: after the original promotion caused long lines and shortages at
- 10:18Speaker 4: some locations. The CEO admits the chain underestimated demand and
- 10:22Speaker 4: says the company will also give about a million and
- 10:25Speaker 4: a half dollars in bonuses to their employees who handled
- 10:28Speaker 4: the rush. And according to a recent survey, people average
- 10:32Speaker 4: about six point six hours of sleep a night, and
- 10:35Speaker 4: they experience roughly eight bad nights of sleep every month,
- 10:39Speaker 4: even though seventy six percent follow a bedtime routine and
- 10:43Speaker 4: typically fall asleep in about twenty one minutes after they
- 10:47Speaker 4: turn off all the distractions. Forecast today beautiful, sunny, warm,
- 10:51Speaker 4: eighty the high right now forty seven in Annandale.
- 10:55Speaker 3: And that is the news with Toby and Chilly in
- 10:57Speaker 3: the morning. You get top stories at the top of
- 10:59Speaker 3: the hour out because next we're going to talk about
- 11:01Speaker 3: bribe and your kids. I think every parent has probably
- 11:06Speaker 3: faced a decision that involved some sort of a bribe
- 11:09Speaker 3: for their kids. Well wait till you hear what this
- 11:11Speaker 3: one mom tried to bribe her son not to do
- 11:15Speaker 3: Tell you all about it and get your take on
- 11:17Speaker 3: these bribes too. The number is eight sixty six nine
- 11:20Speaker 3: two seven forty three sixty one.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Give us a call.
- 11:22Speaker 3: We're talking about it next ninety seven point one.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Watch FM. You've got Toby and Chilly in the morning.
- 11:28Speaker 3: On this Tuesday, there's the website that quotes an unidentified
- 11:32Speaker 3: parent and it's going viral this story because apparently this
- 11:36Speaker 3: parent offered their teen son twenty thousand dollars to stop
- 11:41Speaker 3: playing travel hockey.
- 11:43Speaker 4: Well, you should know that's the same amount that the
- 11:46Speaker 4: mom usually spends on the sport itself. She thinks it's
- 11:49Speaker 4: just inconvenience, because travel hockey you literally have to travel
- 11:52Speaker 4: a lot on weekends. And the sun said, no, I'm
- 11:55Speaker 4: still gonna keep playing.
- 11:56Speaker 5: Thanks.
- 11:57Speaker 3: And it leads to an obvious question. Have you ever
- 11:59Speaker 3: had to bribe your kids? What did you need them
- 12:02Speaker 3: to do? I mean, for twenty grand I could probably
- 12:05Speaker 3: I mean twist my arm. I could probably be convinced
- 12:08Speaker 3: to do a lot of different things, or stop doing something.
- 12:11Speaker 4: I've never bribed my son with money. I bribe him
- 12:14Speaker 4: with like tablet time. You know, in exchange for good behavior.
- 12:19Speaker 4: When we have to do certain things in public, but
- 12:21Speaker 4: never with money. No, Oh, well, wait, are you bribe
- 12:25Speaker 4: your daughter? Oh?
- 12:27Speaker 2: Really?
- 12:27Speaker 3: It starts now with tablet time, but then it starts
- 12:31Speaker 3: to move up. Now I don't have to bribe her
- 12:34Speaker 3: anymore because she's out on her own. It's twenty two
- 12:37Speaker 3: at the end of the month. But when she was younger,
- 12:40Speaker 3: I would bribe her to do the dishes. I would
- 12:42Speaker 3: bribe her to put the dishes away.
- 12:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I called it an allowance.
- 12:45Speaker 5: Okay, you can call.
- 12:46Speaker 2: It a bribe.
- 12:46Speaker 3: I guess, well, it is technically an allowance, but an
- 12:49Speaker 3: allowance is just a big fancy word for a bribe.
- 12:53Speaker 2: Got it to vacuum the living room. It was great.
- 12:56Speaker 3: Anyway, have you ever had to bribe your kid to
- 12:58Speaker 3: do something? Denise, Good morning and thank you for listening
- 13:01Speaker 3: in Rockville today. Tell us about this bribe that went
- 13:04Speaker 3: down with your sons.
- 13:05Speaker 6: He wouldn't swing at baseball. He'd sit there and just
- 13:08Speaker 6: strike out every time those Dad told him give him
- 13:10Speaker 6: a dollar.
- 13:10Speaker 2: If he saw five dollars if he hit it.
- 13:12Speaker 6: And he ended up after it.
- 13:14Speaker 5: He ended up doing it.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Well, that's impressive. How long before it worked.
- 13:17Speaker 4: Took um what till the end of the season to
- 13:20Speaker 4: finally agree to that bribe.
- 13:21Speaker 2: It's crazy, but he got it.
- 13:23Speaker 6: He got his five dollars and he got.
- 13:24Speaker 5: His ice cream.
- 13:25Speaker 2: I'm proud of him and he started swinging after that.
- 13:27Speaker 2: Thanks for dropping that story on Is This Morning? Chilli?
- 13:30Speaker 2: You know, the ends justify the means.
- 13:33Speaker 5: Hey, if it works for them, who am I to Jed?
- 13:35Speaker 3: That's right, and it stops being a bribe and starts
- 13:37Speaker 3: being a financial incentive, kind of like a bonus, but
- 13:41Speaker 3: not quite. If you've ever had to bribe your kid,
- 13:43Speaker 3: tell us all about it. Eight six six nineteen seven
- 13:46Speaker 3: forty three sixty one A tap to talk back microphone.
- 13:48Speaker 3: It's wide open for you, Toby and Chilly in the Morning.
- 13:51Speaker 3: We'll be back in just a second.
- 13:52Speaker 4: And we all need to be very mindful of how
- 13:55Speaker 4: we make small talk. Stop asking people how are you
- 13:59Speaker 4: m What should we ask instead? You'll find out in
- 14:02Speaker 4: just a few minutes. On ninety seven point one was
- 14:04Speaker 4: ch FM.
- 14:06Speaker 3: Toby and Tilly in the Morning at ninety seven point
- 14:08Speaker 3: one WASHFM, where you get Washington's variety from the eighties,
- 14:12Speaker 3: nineties and today. When you wake up with us there's
- 14:15Speaker 3: a new study you mentioned a few minutes ago, Chilly
- 14:17Speaker 3: that's got me very curious. It's a study that finds
- 14:20Speaker 3: that we need to stop making small talk with people.
- 14:23Speaker 4: No, we can make small talk, we just shouldn't use
- 14:26Speaker 4: the phrase how are you when we're engaging in small
- 14:29Speaker 4: talk okay, which is the go to phrase whenever we're
- 14:34Speaker 4: having a small chat with a coworker, whether you're on
- 14:36Speaker 4: a first date or you're just speaking with a stranger
- 14:40Speaker 4: out in public.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Interesting.
- 14:41Speaker 3: They've put together a list of exciting and engaging questions
- 14:46Speaker 3: to get conversations started when making small talk.
- 14:50Speaker 4: Because they're saying that how are you, you just usually
- 14:53Speaker 4: get a one word answer either right, I'm doing well
- 14:55Speaker 4: or not so much, and then what right?
- 14:56Speaker 2: And it's kind of stalls.
- 14:58Speaker 3: So instead you should say what excites you right now? Well, Chili,
- 15:03Speaker 3: what excites you right now?
- 15:05Speaker 2: You know what excites me?
- 15:06Speaker 5: Silence? I was enjoying my silence until you walked up
- 15:09Speaker 5: and started talking to me.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Oh really, you know what? They also say.
- 15:12Speaker 5: Another one you could ask is, oh, what are you
- 15:14Speaker 5: looking forward to?
- 15:15Speaker 3: Well, there's a lot of facets to that issue, and
- 15:18Speaker 3: I want to avoid the news. But the obvious coming
- 15:22Speaker 3: to an end is something that I'm looking forward to.
- 15:24Speaker 3: What thanks for asking?
- 15:26Speaker 5: I just find this to be so fake.
- 15:28Speaker 4: If somebody walked up to me and literally said, so,
- 15:31Speaker 4: what excites you right now? I look at them like
- 15:33Speaker 4: they were crazy, because that is not normally how we
- 15:36Speaker 4: engage with each other.
- 15:38Speaker 3: No, there's normal engagement, then there's this what excites me?
- 15:42Speaker 2: What are you talking about?
- 15:43Speaker 4: Now? It'd be different if I started talking about something
- 15:45Speaker 4: that I was passionate about and you could ask me
- 15:48Speaker 4: follow up.
- 15:48Speaker 3: Questions, Well, Chili, why don't you tell me about your
- 15:51Speaker 3: personal and their personal goals?
- 15:55Speaker 4: Although small talk isn't art, and I know that not
- 15:58Speaker 4: everybody is good at it or feel comfortable doing it.
- 16:01Speaker 3: But there is a fine line between small talk and intrusiveness.
- 16:06Speaker 2: It starts with the B and n's with an S
- 16:08Speaker 2: if you know what I mean?
- 16:09Speaker 5: Yes?
- 16:10Speaker 3: Well, so, if you want to read more about this,
- 16:12Speaker 3: find us the Toby and Chilipage at washfm dot com.
- 16:15Speaker 3: Coming up, we'll make even more small talk with you
- 16:18Speaker 3: this morning. We're going to talk about the news. We'll
- 16:21Speaker 3: get all the Toby and Chili's top stories on the way.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Ninety seven point one WASHFM Washington, an iHeartRadio station coming
- 16:30Speaker 1: up on Top Stories.
- 16:31Speaker 6: Top of the Hour.
- 16:32Speaker 4: Organizers have announced more details for the indiecar race around
