- 0:02Speaker 1: This is an Unspoiled Network podcast spoil Me, covering one
- 0:10Speaker 1: piece episodes five eighty two through five eighty four, startling
- 0:16Speaker 1: the secret of the Island is finally revealed, Save the Children,
- 0:21Speaker 1: the straw Hats start to fight, and a sword play
- 0:24Speaker 1: showdown Brooke versus the mysterious Torso Samurai in these episodes.
- 0:33Speaker 1: You know, it's funny because it says the secret of
- 0:36Speaker 1: the island is finally revealed. But I feel like there's
- 0:39Speaker 1: still a lot of secrets of this island that haven't
- 0:41Speaker 1: been revealed. There's just this is a particularly puzzling situation
- 0:49Speaker 1: that we are in. Welcome to spoil Me, Welcome to
- 1:13Speaker 1: the show everyone. I am Natasha. Thank you very much
- 1:16Speaker 1: to Florian for commissioning this episode. So yeah, you guys,
- 1:21Speaker 1: there's just so many secrets, so many weird things going
- 1:27Speaker 1: on on this island that I'm saying, like the secret
- 1:31Speaker 1: is finally revealed. It feels like it's overstating the amount
- 1:34Speaker 1: of information that we get because we still don't really
- 1:39Speaker 1: know what's going on here. You know, like there's there's
- 1:43Speaker 1: not actually a here's what happened to cause the island
- 1:47Speaker 1: to be this way. We know that like whatever incident
- 1:50Speaker 1: it was that happened a few years ago, it has
- 1:55Speaker 1: created this like half cold, half hot situation climate, I guess,
- 2:04Speaker 1: but we don't yet know exactly what it was that
- 2:08Speaker 1: went wrong, how this all happened, like the story behind
- 2:12Speaker 1: that which for me, if you're saying something like the
- 2:15Speaker 1: secret of the island is finally revealed, that's what I'm
- 2:17Speaker 1: expecting to find out about. You know, there was like
- 2:22Speaker 1: and we know that it was like a failed experiment,
- 2:27Speaker 1: but it's not really like when I say there's no explanation,
- 2:34Speaker 1: what I mean is the fact that we have it
- 2:40Speaker 1: split into these two sections. I don't feel like there's
- 2:44Speaker 1: a good reason for it. A failed experiment that has like,
- 2:48Speaker 1: you know, this sort of gas that is unhealthy to
- 2:53Speaker 1: be in, that's one thing, but for it to be
- 2:56Speaker 1: divided straight down the middle that is sort of this
- 3:02Speaker 1: does not feel adequate for me. However, it's fine. I
- 3:08Speaker 1: feel like the explanation is probably more like it really
- 3:15Speaker 1: doesn't matter. Probably in the end, maybe it does. And
- 3:19Speaker 1: Saraphim is in the chat. Saraphim is leaving some comments.
- 3:22Speaker 1: I'm going to read them. Well, one of the secrets
- 3:25Speaker 1: in this case was up with a half ire, half ice,
- 3:28Speaker 1: half fire thing. The story be kind of the extreme climates,
- 3:30Speaker 1: is that this is where OKG and Akino fought they're duel.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Wait a minute, Oh my god, you guys, how did
- 3:39Speaker 1: I miss that? I'm starting to get really concerned about
- 3:42Speaker 1: myself because I paid attention for these episodes, and maybe
- 3:47Speaker 1: I was just so distracted by some of the other
- 3:49Speaker 1: things that is happening I didn't even like, Oh but wait, no,
- 3:54Speaker 1: I remember this now. I remember this now because like
- 3:57Speaker 1: when some Ofm's men reach the island and are on it,
- 4:03Speaker 1: They're like, it feels really weird. It feels like we
- 4:06Speaker 1: are standing between the two of them fighting. That's right, Okay,
- 4:11Speaker 1: I'm remembering now. Thank you, Sarah em So forgive me
- 4:14Speaker 1: anybody listening who's like infuriated at my opening of saying
- 4:17Speaker 1: this wasn't explained. Please please forgive my broken brain. I
- 4:23Speaker 1: don't have any better excuse than that, because I promise
- 4:27Speaker 1: I watched these I'm not like, just can you imagine
- 4:32Speaker 1: if I just came on here and straight up like pretended,
- 4:36Speaker 1: Oh man, that would be an interesting experiment. But anyway, okay, okay,
- 4:41Speaker 1: so let's get into this whole like the one thing
- 4:47Speaker 1: that I am still super super curious about is this
- 4:52Speaker 1: bird woman. And I there's something that I had CONSI
- 5:00Speaker 1: in the watching of the last episodes that I didn't
- 5:04Speaker 1: bring up because I hadn't really wanted to think about
- 5:09Speaker 1: it as a possibility. If I'm being honest, you guys know,
- 5:12Speaker 1: like I said last time, how uncomfortable medical experimentation makes me,
- 5:18Speaker 1: And it's just like a particular what's the word I want, like,
- 5:25Speaker 1: it's a particularly creepy and horrifying to me concept, and
- 5:34Speaker 1: the type of person that would be willing to put
- 5:37Speaker 1: other people through that kind of pain is really more
- 5:42Speaker 1: terrifying to me than any monster. But the fact that
- 5:48Speaker 1: we have a woman who is part bird and a
- 5:54Speaker 1: man who is a centaur has me kind of wonder
- 6:00Speaker 1: if we're doing some sort of Island of Doctor Moreau
- 6:03Speaker 1: thing going on here. And I haven't read The Island
- 6:08Speaker 1: of Doctor Moreau. I know, you know in broad strokes
- 6:11Speaker 1: what it is about. I not too long ago listen
- 6:16Speaker 1: to a podcast where they describe that like in pretty
- 6:21Speaker 1: good detail, like the plot points of it, and it
- 6:24Speaker 1: just sort of reinforced for me that that is not
- 6:27Speaker 1: a book I want to read because it touches so
- 6:29Speaker 1: heavily on the exact thing that I find genuinely really frightening,
- 6:34Speaker 1: And this is sort of feeling like, maybe what is
- 6:37Speaker 1: happening here, I'm not entirely clear on how like the
- 6:40Speaker 1: children and all of their different sizes would tie into that.
- 6:44Speaker 1: Maybe the way that the woman in the centaur turned
- 6:50Speaker 1: out is just one type of experiment amongst a bunch
- 6:53Speaker 1: of other experiments. Maybe it's not just explicitly only about
- 6:58Speaker 1: making people male with animals somehow. But I just wanted
- 7:04Speaker 1: to mention, and that was something that I had thought
- 7:06Speaker 1: of in the last grouping of episodes and didn't remember
- 7:11Speaker 1: to bring up because I was a little bit distracted
- 7:14Speaker 1: by the fact that Lufy is like somehow kind of
- 7:17Speaker 1: a centaur, but like not really all right, So when
- 7:23Speaker 1: we open this episode, all of our friends we kind
- 7:26Speaker 1: of recount what's going on with this samurai whose head
- 7:30Speaker 1: has been reassembled incorrectly. I do want to take a
- 7:34Speaker 1: moment and kind of give some credit for the fact
- 7:38Speaker 1: that having his body cut into a bunch of pieces.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Even Nami says, this is so weird, it's like buggy,
- 7:47Speaker 1: But also the fact that they have decided to do
- 7:50Speaker 1: this not just is it like Buggy, but we have
- 7:53Speaker 1: taken it up a notch where he gets divided down
- 7:58Speaker 1: into even smaller parts, where his head is cut into
- 8:01Speaker 1: several pieces. I can't lie, guys, I do think that's
- 8:05Speaker 1: very funny, the idea of just like, no, I'm gonna
- 8:10Speaker 1: do something sort of similar, but I'm gonna dial it
- 8:13Speaker 1: up a notch or two. I like it, and this
- 8:16Speaker 1: guy we have a whole other moment. This was really
- 8:22Speaker 1: it's so weird, y'all, And honestly it's very true to life.
- 8:29Speaker 1: But it doesn't seem like any male character can interact
- 8:33Speaker 1: with Nami without either reprimanding her for being immodest or
- 8:39Speaker 1: lusting after her. It's just not possible. No matter what,
- 8:45Speaker 1: that's gonna be a problem for somebody in some way.
- 8:49Speaker 1: And that's really genuinely when you're, like I was gonna say,
- 8:53Speaker 1: when you're young and beautiful, but honestly, it can progress
- 8:57Speaker 1: even past being young and beautiful. It really is the
- 9:01Speaker 1: way the world can be. You are punished for being
- 9:06Speaker 1: unattractive or attractive. You know, it doesn't matter because women
- 9:12Speaker 1: can't win. That's really just all it comes down to.
- 9:17Speaker 1: So the fact that we have yet another character here
- 9:21Speaker 1: who and I do recognize. He condemns her for her immodesty,
- 9:29Speaker 1: but then he also when she says you like it though,
- 9:31Speaker 1: don't you, admits yes, I do very much. Are you really? Really? Really?
- 9:41Speaker 1: And I like the very fact that Sonji has reacted
- 9:45Speaker 1: this way himself every single time and gets so angry
- 9:49Speaker 1: at this dude. That is also another like telling on
- 9:53Speaker 1: themselves sort of thing that a lot of guys do.
- 9:56Speaker 1: It's very it's just wild. It's not me. Is either
- 9:59Speaker 1: here to be like slut celebrated or slut shamed, but
- 10:04Speaker 1: either way, so yeah, this He eventually comes around to
- 10:12Speaker 1: it and is like, oh, well, I guess that's what
- 10:14Speaker 1: U is appropriate in your land. So I approve, and
- 10:19Speaker 1: I appreciated that she just follows that up with like,
- 10:21Speaker 1: I don't fucking care if you approve. That is not
- 10:23Speaker 1: what this is about at all. And this is when
- 10:28Speaker 1: Soanjy like kicks him into the wall and his head
- 10:31Speaker 1: is just embedded in it. But he's like trying to
- 10:36Speaker 1: pretend that he can just stay there and if they
- 10:40Speaker 1: take off without him, it won't bother him because they're
- 10:43Speaker 1: pirates and he can't stand pirates. So he's just not
- 10:45Speaker 1: willing to team up with them, and understandably, they all
- 10:50Speaker 1: are just like, no, yeah, we're not just leaving you here,
- 10:53Speaker 1: like this isn't a great situation for you either, and
- 10:57Speaker 1: he reveals finally that he is here to save his
- 11:02Speaker 1: son's life, but we don't really get any further details
- 11:07Speaker 1: about that here. So eventually Frankie is able to bust
- 11:13Speaker 1: this door down and they escape this room, and they
- 11:18Speaker 1: are not sure where to head. They're just going down
- 11:21Speaker 1: the hallway trying to avoid the weird guys in these
- 11:26Speaker 1: suits that you know, the what do you call them,
- 11:30Speaker 1: like sort of has matt suits, and they wind up
- 11:35Speaker 1: coming upon a room that is filled with toys, and
- 11:40Speaker 1: it becomes clear very quickly that this is some sort
- 11:43Speaker 1: of nursery. It's a playroom. And I really liked the
- 11:47Speaker 1: way that this reveal is done because the kids are
- 11:52Speaker 1: out of like frame of our friends. They're not together,
- 11:57Speaker 1: so there's no scale at first, and you just see
- 12:01Speaker 1: all of these children and you're just sort of like,
- 12:04Speaker 1: that's weird. There's a bunch of kids here, okay, And
- 12:07Speaker 1: then the camera pulls back and you get to see
- 12:11Speaker 1: how huge they are in comparison to the straw hats
- 12:14Speaker 1: and you're like, wait what, I was so taken aback?
- 12:18Speaker 1: And it turns out too not even all of them
- 12:22Speaker 1: are the size. Some of them are humongous, some of
- 12:27Speaker 1: them are perfectly normal sized, and it doesn't really seem
- 12:31Speaker 1: like there's rhyme or reason that we can understand as
- 12:35Speaker 1: to how, you know, why some of them are certain
- 12:39Speaker 1: size and others aren't. And later on, one of the
- 12:42Speaker 1: kids is like, it's okay, we're not sick anymore. We're
- 12:47Speaker 1: totally better, I promise, And when our friends seem to
- 12:53Speaker 1: be leaving these children behind, the kids start yelling out
- 12:57Speaker 1: you know about this, and then the guards are saying,
- 13:02Speaker 1: but you guys are sick, and you know it's for
- 13:04Speaker 1: your own good that you're going to stay here, and
- 13:07Speaker 1: we promise nothing is going to happen to you, and
- 13:10Speaker 1: the whole like the tone of it very much feels
- 13:18Speaker 1: like these kids have been full online to But there's
- 13:21Speaker 1: also a part of me that is like, well, maybe
- 13:25Speaker 1: they weren't sick until they got here. Could also be
- 13:28Speaker 1: a possibility maybe they are kind of sick in this
- 13:32Speaker 1: way that's like, you know, been actually caused by whatever
- 13:38Speaker 1: is being done to them, because who knows what the
- 13:41Speaker 1: fuck is happening with some of them being huge and
- 13:43Speaker 1: others not. This is the kind of thing that you
- 13:45Speaker 1: could be just right off as like, oh, you know,
- 13:48Speaker 1: some sort of radiation for whatever. The uh the chemical
- 13:51Speaker 1: problem was that some of the kids inhaled it and
- 13:55Speaker 1: they got huge for some reason, you know what I mean?
- 13:57Speaker 1: Like it could be something just that simple, And if
- 14:00Speaker 1: it is that simple, it kind of would explain why
- 14:04Speaker 1: you are feeling like protective of them and being like, no,
- 14:08Speaker 1: promise you really are sick though, you know so, I
- 14:12Speaker 1: don't know. I'm not to say that I actually trust
- 14:18Speaker 1: these dudes. I really want to make that part clear.
- 14:20Speaker 1: At least, I don't believe that whatever they're being told
- 14:25Speaker 1: these guys are being honest about. I'm just saying that
- 14:30Speaker 1: there could be a sort of truth that they're telling
- 14:35Speaker 1: like half of in order to cover up their own asses.
- 14:40Speaker 1: And I like the fact that there are children as
- 14:44Speaker 1: part of this experiment. The fact that this samurai is
- 14:48Speaker 1: here to save his son, and I fully thought his
- 14:54Speaker 1: kid was going to be in this room and then
- 14:56Speaker 1: he isn't. That was very concerning to me because it
- 15:02Speaker 1: feels like if you've got enough children in a facility
- 15:08Speaker 1: like this that there's like so many that they're not
- 15:13Speaker 1: even contained in one place. How many experiments are you running? Like?
- 15:19Speaker 1: What else are you up to? You know what I'm saying?
- 15:22Speaker 1: That made me feel like kind of sick. The idea
- 15:25Speaker 1: of like possibly more than one room and some of
- 15:29Speaker 1: these kids being taken to a separate place, And why
- 15:32Speaker 1: would that be. It's possible that his child is simply
- 15:36Speaker 1: not even here, that he came to this building and
- 15:40Speaker 1: to these people because they were the most obvious explanation
- 15:43Speaker 1: where his son is, but that he's wrong and that
- 15:46Speaker 1: they're not located in this building. But I feel like,
- 15:50Speaker 1: if you've got a bunch of children penned up in
- 15:53Speaker 1: a room being fed liies about why they're here, I
- 15:57Speaker 1: don't really blame you for a souoning your kid is
- 16:02Speaker 1: also in this place. I feel like that just that
- 16:06Speaker 1: just follows, you know, So anyway, I uh, this, the
- 16:11Speaker 1: the energy of this thing with the children is so
- 16:18Speaker 1: truly said. I was taken kind of by surprise because
- 16:23Speaker 1: you guys know how inconsistent it can be with this
- 16:27Speaker 1: show in terms of my emotional reaction when clearly the
- 16:32Speaker 1: show is trying to get me to feel something, And
- 16:37Speaker 1: there are times where I have felt almost obstinately, like
- 16:41Speaker 1: almost like you're trying too hard, either with the the
- 16:49Speaker 1: music being a little bit over the top, or just
- 16:53Speaker 1: the overall situation feeling almost too ridiculous in how terrible
- 16:58Speaker 1: things are. That it's like, you know, an oscar bait
- 17:02Speaker 1: type of movie where I'm like, yeah, I get what
- 17:05Speaker 1: we're doing here, but also it's very difficult for me
- 17:08Speaker 1: to take this fully seriously. And I feel like this
- 17:13Speaker 1: struck a really good balance of being just horrifying enough,
- 17:20Speaker 1: especially because we don't fully know what's happening here. That
- 17:26Speaker 1: that combined with the very innocent quality of these children
- 17:31Speaker 1: and how slow they are to ask to be rescued.
- 17:37Speaker 1: These kids respond when our friends show up like real children.
- 17:42Speaker 1: They're excited to see Frankie, who is a cyborg. They're
- 17:46Speaker 1: interested in Soanjy's weird eyebrows. Like there's a lot about
- 17:51Speaker 1: this interaction that feels just like they've run into some
- 17:58Speaker 1: regular children, and so I think setting them up as
- 18:03Speaker 1: kids in that way, and then we transition to them
- 18:08Speaker 1: being like, wait, you're leaving without us, Please don't leave
- 18:11Speaker 1: us here. It was just I was given enough time
- 18:14Speaker 1: to see them as real people and not just a
- 18:17Speaker 1: prop that needs rescuing for the sake of the plot,
- 18:22Speaker 1: and I found myself like really upset by it, and
- 18:25Speaker 1: the kids just eventually being like, well, okay, if you
- 18:28Speaker 1: have to go, but you promise you're going to come back,
- 18:31Speaker 1: right and the fact that they are in such a
- 18:35Speaker 1: bad place that they are willing to make that kind
- 18:40Speaker 1: of concession, you know, that they're just like, yeah, we
- 18:44Speaker 1: get it, You're not going to be able to take
- 18:47Speaker 1: us away right now, but we are so desperate that
- 18:50Speaker 1: if we have to just wait for you, that's what
- 18:53Speaker 1: we'll do. I really this was like heartbreaking and just
- 18:59Speaker 1: really kind of caught me off guard. So and I
- 19:02Speaker 1: really did think as well that the straw Hats were
- 19:06Speaker 1: going to take off and then find a way to
- 19:09Speaker 1: rescue the kids and come back. So when the Straw
- 19:12Speaker 1: Hats turn around like on the spot and begin to
- 19:15Speaker 1: fight for the kids, I was surprised by that as well,
- 19:18Speaker 1: because I expected that we were going to do a
- 19:20Speaker 1: sort of like go out, regroup with the rest of
- 19:23Speaker 1: the crew and find out what's happening on this island
- 19:25Speaker 1: in general, and then all of us as a complete
- 19:29Speaker 1: crew come back and rescue these children. So I was
- 19:34Speaker 1: glad that it's, you know, managed right away, and that
- 19:39Speaker 1: my being heartbroken over these kids does not last very long.
- 19:46Speaker 1: So we've got Brooke, and he reminder is like in
- 19:50Speaker 1: this whole other weird sort of limbo because all of
- 19:56Speaker 1: his friends that are actually alive got captured and they're
- 20:01Speaker 1: in the building, and then Robin us up, Lufi and
- 20:06Speaker 1: Zorro are still on the fire side of the island
- 20:11Speaker 1: and they are like, they're not turning around to get Brooke.
- 20:18Speaker 1: He is in contact with them via a transponder snail,
- 20:22Speaker 1: but he's not like there's a weird separateness with him,
- 20:30Speaker 1: and I found it sort of odd because what we
- 20:32Speaker 1: wind up doing with him pretty much is he fights
- 20:38Speaker 1: the Torso part of the Samurai, and I'm just sort of,
- 20:48Speaker 1: here's the thing, guys, and this is just the thing
- 20:50Speaker 1: that I think the show struggles with a lot anyway.
- 20:53Speaker 1: But he's fighting the Torso guy, and he seems genuinely
- 20:58Speaker 1: like a bit upset and overwhelmed at the situation, which sure,
- 21:06Speaker 1: but he's getting scared of being cut and all I
- 21:13Speaker 1: could think was, I've seen your head get cut off man,
- 21:18Speaker 1: and it did nothing. You just picked it up and
- 21:21Speaker 1: you put it back on and there and there it was,
- 21:22Speaker 1: and you were fine. So as he's beginning to really
- 21:26Speaker 1: panic when dealing with the Swordsman, I was like, but
- 21:29Speaker 1: why I don't feel any tension here at all personally,
- 21:33Speaker 1: because I know what you can tolerate. You're gonna be fine,
- 21:37Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. And it was just sort
- 21:39Speaker 1: of a weird choice I felt like to have Brook
- 21:43Speaker 1: of all people, like plot wise, it makes sense why
- 21:47Speaker 1: he's still on the ship because of being the only
- 21:50Speaker 1: one who isn't alive and therefore immune to this gas,
- 21:54Speaker 1: and also them thinking that he or he isn't immune
- 21:56Speaker 1: to the gas, but they just thought he was dead
- 21:58Speaker 1: because he is a literal skeleton. But I was confused
- 22:03Speaker 1: about the fact that he seems so worried about being
- 22:08Speaker 1: cut by the Swordsman when I was feeling pretty confident.
- 22:13Speaker 1: You don't have any reason to be worried, sir. We
- 22:16Speaker 1: know you're going to be just fine. That's just how
- 22:19Speaker 1: you roll. But anyway, that's like most of what he
- 22:24Speaker 1: deals with in his being apart from the rest of
- 22:27Speaker 1: the crew, is fighting with this weirdo tour, so so yeah,
- 22:36Speaker 1: and when Brooke is talking to Oose up via the
- 22:40Speaker 1: transponder Snail, he also mentions that they're in an area
- 22:45Speaker 1: now where it's all like ice and snow. So this
- 22:48Speaker 1: is when they're just beginning to understand that there are
- 22:50Speaker 1: two halves to this and they're on the whole other side.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Luffy is still convinced that he's going to be able
- 22:59Speaker 1: to do this snow code thing. I really kind of
- 23:02Speaker 1: hope that pans out for him. I hope this whole
- 23:05Speaker 1: arc ends with Lufy getting to have a snow cone blessing.
- 23:09Speaker 1: But anyway, so what I was saying was, thankfully because
- 23:13Speaker 1: Brooke remains and wasn't captured, at the very least, he
- 23:18Speaker 1: is able to explain to our friends where everybody went
- 23:23Speaker 1: because there's a witness who can give specific details about
- 23:31Speaker 1: it that I really can only imagine if they had
- 23:35Speaker 1: all gotten captured and then Lufy and Robin and everybody
- 23:40Speaker 1: came back to the ship and just found them fucking gone, Like,
- 23:45Speaker 1: what would you think. I don't know what I would think.
- 23:48Speaker 1: I'd probably, I guess assume that they're out on the
- 23:52Speaker 1: island exploring somewhere, because there's no real evidence pointing to
- 23:57Speaker 1: the fact that these people, like the gas disperses after
- 24:03Speaker 1: they leave, and there's no blood there, you know, there's
- 24:07Speaker 1: nothing that really clearly marks a fight. And the guys
- 24:14Speaker 1: have remained almost invisible as far as I can tell,
- 24:18Speaker 1: so that there's no hint there's anybody else on this
- 24:22Speaker 1: island at all, and I think it would just be
- 24:27Speaker 1: really difficult for them to know what to do. And
- 24:31Speaker 1: I'm glad at least that somebody was there to see
- 24:33Speaker 1: what happened. It explains about the suits that they were
- 24:38Speaker 1: wearing and everything else. So then we have Loofy, who
- 24:44Speaker 1: is with this sweet, wonderful little uh what do you
- 24:51Speaker 1: call him? Centaur? I call him sweet and wonderful because
- 24:55Speaker 1: he just reminds me of Torman Giant Spain all being o.
- 25:00Speaker 1: If I'm being honest, like there's just a real like
- 25:03Speaker 1: I can beat the shit out of people and am
- 25:06Speaker 1: very badass, but mostly I'm not super interested in doing
- 25:11Speaker 1: that and just kind of want to be buds. That's
- 25:15Speaker 1: the vibe that I get off of this Kui and
- 25:18Speaker 1: so his whole energy. I was very disappointed that it
- 25:24Speaker 1: basically gets like shut down when he is told, hey,
- 25:29Speaker 1: you know that that dude isn't your friend, right, that's
- 25:32Speaker 1: some enemy that you need to deal with, and then
- 25:35Speaker 1: his whole attitude changes. Lufy is also disappointed because he's
- 25:40Speaker 1: just been having a great time, But like for me,
- 25:42Speaker 1: I was just like, oh, but I liked seeing this
- 25:46Speaker 1: over the top, fun dude who is just willing to
- 25:52Speaker 1: All he does is like race with Loofy. He just
- 25:56Speaker 1: wants to go and see whose legs are the strongest
- 26:00Speaker 1: and the best, which, by the way, he beats Loofy
- 26:03Speaker 1: in a race. And I was kind of pleasantly surprised
- 26:05Speaker 1: because I just sort of assume that anytime Lufy gets
- 26:08Speaker 1: into a physical challenge of any kind with anybody, I
- 26:16Speaker 1: assume Lufy is going to be the one that comes
- 26:17Speaker 1: out on top every time. And so the fact that
- 26:21Speaker 1: he doesn't, I was sort of like, oh, nice, Okay,
- 26:25Speaker 1: so we've got a whole other, you know, a little
- 26:27Speaker 1: bit of a moment here with him being beaten by
- 26:30Speaker 1: this dude who's got genuine horse legs, which only makes sense,
- 26:34Speaker 1: but so yeah, and they're about to race again, and
- 26:39Speaker 1: he gets the transponder snail call about how Lufy isn't
- 26:43Speaker 1: a friend and put Loofy unaware of this, is just
- 26:46Speaker 1: looking over his shoulder at this guy like are you coming, Like,
- 26:48Speaker 1: I'm ready, let's go do this, Let's do our second race.
- 26:51Speaker 1: And this dude looks genuinely so disappointed, you know. So Brooke,
- 27:00Speaker 1: he has gotten to this building and he because he's
- 27:04Speaker 1: still on the ship, but he can see it. And
- 27:06Speaker 1: Robin is like, well, do you see anything? Do you
- 27:08Speaker 1: see a building? And he's like, yes, indeed I do.
- 27:13Speaker 1: And it's outside of there that he comes across the
- 27:17Speaker 1: Torso it's so weird too. He says, it's not a restaurant,
- 27:21Speaker 1: I know that much. And I was like, who asked
- 27:24Speaker 1: you if it was a restaurant? Why? Why did you
- 27:28Speaker 1: even bring that up? Weird little moment. So the I'm
- 27:36Speaker 1: trying to see, like because everybody is split up the
- 27:39Speaker 1: way they often are, knowing where to jump next is
- 27:43Speaker 1: a little bit because sometimes if I get ahead of
- 27:45Speaker 1: myself in one section, then I have to double back
- 27:47Speaker 1: on another section. So I'm trying to make sure that
- 27:50Speaker 1: I don't miss anything here. Oh my god, I forgot that.
- 27:52Speaker 1: There's like this giraffe guy as well, and loofy, it's
- 28:01Speaker 1: just sort of delighted by him. I mean, why wouldn't
- 28:03Speaker 1: you be the giraffe, Like that's kind of dope, but
- 28:06Speaker 1: of course everybody else is. They're trying to kill us Loopy.
- 28:10Speaker 1: This isn't cool, This isn't awesome, And us Up takes
- 28:15Speaker 1: the transponder snail off this guy and he says it
- 28:18Speaker 1: says cc on it. They're not just free roaming magical creatures.
- 28:23Speaker 1: They're part of some organization and we don't know what
- 28:28Speaker 1: this is. But Usup says, if we tried to get
- 28:30Speaker 1: out of here, the sunny is gone. It's all the
- 28:34Speaker 1: way on the frozen side, so it's not like we
- 28:36Speaker 1: can just turn around and head back. And our friends
- 28:39Speaker 1: got taken, so we can't just bail from them either,
- 28:43Speaker 1: So what are we going to do? And Robin is
- 28:46Speaker 1: theorizing like, well, if our friends are passed out, they're
- 28:52Speaker 1: not going to be able to defend themselves, so they're
- 28:55Speaker 1: in a pretty bad situation. Like what are we? We
- 28:59Speaker 1: kind of fucked up here, and Lufy says, it's fine.
- 29:07Speaker 1: I even got to meet doctor Leggingston, which is apparently
- 29:11Speaker 1: what he's calling his back legs. I thought that that
- 29:15Speaker 1: was what he was calling the centaur at first, but no,
- 29:19Speaker 1: it's what he's calling his second pair of legs, and
- 29:23Speaker 1: I hesitate to even call them that because they're not his.
- 29:27Speaker 1: But it's fine, and Lufy's like, you guys know, I
- 29:30Speaker 1: already wanted to go to the other side. So nothing
- 29:34Speaker 1: has changed. We just got to figure out the way
- 29:36Speaker 1: that we're going to get across this water. And Zoro
- 29:43Speaker 1: his theory about getting over the water is well, if
- 29:46Speaker 1: there's fire and there's an ice in the water, then
- 29:51Speaker 1: probably the water is the exact right temperature and we
- 29:55Speaker 1: should just swim, which there is a sort of weird
- 30:01Speaker 1: sense in that, but as we see later, it is
- 30:03Speaker 1: not that simple because that water is quite literally boiling
- 30:06Speaker 1: and would have turned them into a soup. Meanwhile, inside
- 30:13Speaker 1: the building, this weird flame clown is out here investigating
- 30:19Speaker 1: how our friends got out of a door that is
- 30:22Speaker 1: supposed to be unbreakable, and he can see that this
- 30:27Speaker 1: was a laser that the marks here, like, that's clearly
- 30:29Speaker 1: what's going on here. Some dude comes in and informs
- 30:34Speaker 1: them all that there is a marine ship that is
- 30:37Speaker 1: coming closer, and the Caesar clowns says, well, don't kill them.
- 30:43Speaker 1: We don't want to start drawing attention but shoot some
- 30:48Speaker 1: poison gas out there and they'll really start to get
- 30:51Speaker 1: the idea we need to get rid of them as
- 30:52Speaker 1: quickly as possible, which I thought was sort of interesting,
- 30:56Speaker 1: the idea that, like, he whatever it is that he
- 31:01Speaker 1: is up to in here, he doesn't want them knowing about.
- 31:08Speaker 1: I guess they're so inside like because remember the response
- 31:14Speaker 1: that Smoker and Tashiki had at hearing that perhaps our
- 31:19Speaker 1: friends were on what is this place called punk Hazard, right,
- 31:27Speaker 1: Their response was essentially, wow, that's weird, because as far
- 31:32Speaker 1: as I knew, that whole island was closed off and
- 31:35Speaker 1: nobody was even allowed on it. So how is that possible?
- 31:39Speaker 1: And my assumption is that Caesar Clown has some I
- 31:44Speaker 1: really hate that name. Every time I say it, I
- 31:47Speaker 1: feel like I'm I'm being ridiculous, like that this is
- 31:52Speaker 1: completely wrong. You know, I don't know what the deal
- 31:56Speaker 1: is with this name, guys, but I just don't I
- 31:59Speaker 1: don't like it. But anyway, he seems to be laying
- 32:05Speaker 1: low enough that nobody knows that he is still alive,
- 32:09Speaker 1: or that he was alive at all, because like the
- 32:12Speaker 1: thing with the chemicals that went wrong was something to
- 32:20Speaker 1: do with the Oh my god, you guys, I'm trying
- 32:25Speaker 1: to remember his name, the one that Frankie found his laboratory.
- 32:34Speaker 1: Wasn't his name Vega Punk? Is this place called Punk
- 32:38Speaker 1: Hazard after him? Is that where the name came from?
- 32:43Speaker 1: But like, I feel like they mentioned his name in
- 32:47Speaker 1: conjunction with the chemical thing. And I had said when
- 32:53Speaker 1: we first are here and c Caesar Clown for the
- 32:57Speaker 1: first time, that my initial assumption was that this was
- 33:01Speaker 1: Vega Punk and that something had happened to him with
- 33:04Speaker 1: an experiment, and now he is this like weird creature,
- 33:10Speaker 1: And the way that this is talked about, I'm kind
- 33:14Speaker 1: of starting to be like, maybe that's exactly it is
- 33:17Speaker 1: Caesar Clown Vega Punk and just has like this weird
- 33:24Speaker 1: new flame body now and goes by a different name
- 33:28Speaker 1: for whatever reason, and is supposed to be dead but
- 33:33Speaker 1: survived somehow. I don't know how this could be It's
- 33:40Speaker 1: and I don't really feel like I've seen another character
- 33:43Speaker 1: on this show changed themselves physically and then completely go
- 33:49Speaker 1: by a new name exactly. We've had them get given
- 33:53Speaker 1: different names by organizations, but I don't feel like we
- 33:57Speaker 1: have ever seen them choose a whole new identity. And
- 34:01Speaker 1: so that's The thing that I keep sort of falling
- 34:03Speaker 1: up against is like, is does that make sense for
- 34:07Speaker 1: the way that we have seen things works in this universe?
- 34:10Speaker 1: I don't know, but yeah, so the I just want
- 34:17Speaker 1: to call him Flame Guy because that honestly feels less
- 34:20Speaker 1: ridiculous than the actual name that he goes by. But anyway,
- 34:27Speaker 1: they catch on pretty quickly about the gas, and Tashigi
- 34:31Speaker 1: is like, all right, guys, everybody get gas masks, and
- 34:35Speaker 1: you know they're not taking this as a threat at all.
- 34:40Speaker 1: They do because the theory was put some poison gas
- 34:43Speaker 1: out there. They'll get the idea and they'll turn away.
- 34:46Speaker 1: But that doesn't work at all instantly. It's just put
- 34:52Speaker 1: gas masks on, deal with it. And Smoker, for his part,
- 34:57Speaker 1: who this dude keeps surprising me by being smart because
- 35:00Speaker 1: he's such a like brute, you know, his whole look.
- 35:04Speaker 1: He's just so fucking menacing and muscular like a meathead.
- 35:09Speaker 1: I keep thinking that he's also a dingling and he
- 35:14Speaker 1: just isn't really. So his takeaway here is the chemical
- 35:21Speaker 1: spill that was supposed to have caused all this poison
- 35:23Speaker 1: gas was a long time ago. The amount of gas
- 35:27Speaker 1: that is still here does not make any sense. So
- 35:31Speaker 1: somebody is doing this. This is not what's left over this,
- 35:36Speaker 1: you know, this whole thing is very suspect, And I
- 35:43Speaker 1: really just like the fact that he keeps being like,
- 35:46Speaker 1: the toxic substances were cleared out like two years ago,
- 35:50Speaker 1: so yeah, and this is this is when he's like, oh, yeah,
- 35:56Speaker 1: the island is the mark of their battle. That's why
- 35:58Speaker 1: I got so distracted it because I was like, it
- 36:01Speaker 1: was Smoker telling the story, and I was fascinated at
- 36:05Speaker 1: the fact that he was able to see past the
- 36:07Speaker 1: whole poison gas thing. So I just like completely somehow
- 36:10Speaker 1: was zeroed in on that. I just think Smoker is
- 36:12Speaker 1: probably I'm interested in seeing who they cast. I feel
- 36:16Speaker 1: like I heard that they cast somebody, but I haven't
- 36:19Speaker 1: seen them in costume yet. But I feel like Smoker
- 36:22Speaker 1: is probably one of the hotter characters on this show.
- 36:26Speaker 1: So he also just distracts me because of his pretty face.
- 36:31Speaker 1: But yeah, so that is why this Island is broken
- 36:33Speaker 1: up the way that it is, right right right. Thank
- 36:35Speaker 1: you Sarah FM for your patients and all my listeners
- 36:39Speaker 1: as well. So I love the fact, by the way,
- 36:41Speaker 1: guys just mentioning this because we get it as a
- 36:44Speaker 1: subtitle whenever we go into the room with all the children.
- 36:47Speaker 1: But the fact that it's called the Biscuit Room, it's adorable.
- 36:53Speaker 1: I just like, look, the word biscuit is just very,
- 36:56Speaker 1: very cute. Anyway. I have a friend who has a
- 37:00Speaker 1: little Corrigie dog named Biscuit, and I am sorry, but
- 37:05Speaker 1: there is just nothing cuter in the entire world. That
- 37:07Speaker 1: is the cutest name that has ever been so anyway,
- 37:11Speaker 1: I just wanted to mention that because I didn't say
- 37:13Speaker 1: a last time. There's also something extra creepy about the
- 37:19Speaker 1: thing with the kids because the place is so built
- 37:25Speaker 1: to be such a pleasant, fun space for children. If
- 37:29Speaker 1: this were like a stark white room and a bunch
- 37:33Speaker 1: of kids were being kept in here with like, you know,
- 37:37Speaker 1: all of them in jumpsuits, with this like fluorescent lighting
- 37:42Speaker 1: on them and steel furniture, it would have felt a
- 37:47Speaker 1: little too heavy handed. But the kids are being allowed
- 37:53Speaker 1: to just play like children, and the room is set
- 37:57Speaker 1: up to be brightly colored and fun, like you would
- 38:02Speaker 1: do for an actual preschool or something, and it makes
- 38:08Speaker 1: it much much more unnerving in my opinion. So I
- 38:14Speaker 1: really the whole thing with the kids, I don't know man,
- 38:17Speaker 1: there is just something so effective about this entire storyline.
- 38:25Speaker 1: All right, so I'm jumping ahead a little bit. Okay,
- 38:28Speaker 1: here's the part where they're figuring out how to get
- 38:30Speaker 1: across the water and Oosap finally comes through and he says,
- 38:35Speaker 1: let me see what I can do special attack Green Star,
- 38:41Speaker 1: and he grows fangrass, which looks like oars and then
- 38:47Speaker 1: he does body banana, which I love it. It pops
- 38:51Speaker 1: out like it's rolled up like you would with something
- 38:55Speaker 1: that's inflatable, and then like self inflates and drops in
- 38:58Speaker 1: the water, and I could not you, guys, I just
- 39:01Speaker 1: think this is so funny because it's not like he's like,
- 39:06Speaker 1: I don't know if I have a tool that will
- 39:08Speaker 1: work here, let me try this thing. Do you think
- 39:11Speaker 1: this would be appropriate? We're debating how to get across
- 39:15Speaker 1: the water and you literally have something in your arsenal
- 39:18Speaker 1: that straight up turns into a boat. My guy, you
- 39:24Speaker 1: didn't think this was probably like the part you should
- 39:28Speaker 1: be playing like two seconds ago. Oosup is just like,
- 39:32Speaker 1: what are we gonna do? I don't know how we're
- 39:35Speaker 1: possibly going to get out of this, and then he's
- 39:37Speaker 1: just like, oh, oh, here's my boady banana, and I'm
- 39:41Speaker 1: just like, dude, well, why you know, like that feels
- 39:48Speaker 1: sort of like this is the exact situation that you
- 39:53Speaker 1: would want to use something like this. Why did it
- 39:55Speaker 1: take you this long to draw this conclusion? Anyway? And
- 40:03Speaker 1: the fangrass like it is really really cool. Robin is like,
- 40:08Speaker 1: you've got a lot of seeds. They are really awesome actually,
- 40:13Speaker 1: and Oosub says, yeah, there were a lot of weird plants,
- 40:18Speaker 1: and the deeper I went into weird dangerous areas, the
- 40:23Speaker 1: more valuable and useful the plants I stumbled across happened
- 40:28Speaker 1: to be. So he was like, let's head that away.
- 40:35Speaker 1: And of course has to sit on this like kind
- 40:38Speaker 1: of cross beam on the stern of the boat because
- 40:42Speaker 1: he can't just sit with everybody down in the regular
- 40:45Speaker 1: part of the boat. It's just not his style. We
- 40:50Speaker 1: find out too, that the change in temperature from one
- 40:54Speaker 1: side of the island to the other has caused this
- 40:57Speaker 1: like air pressure change that creates a really intense wind,
- 41:02Speaker 1: and this is slowing them down a little bit, so
- 41:06Speaker 1: they are still a little bit closer to the shore
- 41:09Speaker 1: than they probably should be because of the wind. When
- 41:12Speaker 1: the centaur comes down and is just like, you can't
- 41:15Speaker 1: get away from me, and just chucks a fucking like
- 41:18Speaker 1: boulder at them, almost capsizes them. And then when he
- 41:24Speaker 1: can't reach them, of course, Lufy is still like trying
- 41:27Speaker 1: to invite him to the crew, but he blows on
- 41:30Speaker 1: a horn and he says like he calls for Boss,
- 41:36Speaker 1: which is the name that we heard the guy on
- 41:39Speaker 1: the transponder snail at the very start of this whole thing,
- 41:44Speaker 1: saying like it's so cold, we need Boss. And when
- 41:47Speaker 1: he says this, we see a pair of eyes open,
- 41:50Speaker 1: but it's just like a completely black screen and then
- 41:53Speaker 1: two bright red eye shapes that open, and we don't
- 41:58Speaker 1: actually get to see what Boss looks like in any detail.
- 42:02Speaker 1: He is just this like distressing silhouette surrounded by a
- 42:09Speaker 1: lot of smaller dudes who also have red eyes in
- 42:14Speaker 1: this in the like buried in their silhouettes, and evidently
- 42:20Speaker 1: they are looking for the samurai, and this dude sees
- 42:25Speaker 1: Zorro and assumes understandably that Zorro is that samurai. Later on,
- 42:31Speaker 1: Usub's like, he's not a samurai, he's just a swordsman,
- 42:34Speaker 1: and I was like, I'm not sure that's this compelling
- 42:37Speaker 1: an argument as you think it is. When you say that,
- 42:40Speaker 1: I would sort of be like, yeah, that's Isn't that
- 42:42Speaker 1: just what that is? But the dude is like, he
- 42:52Speaker 1: seems to be in a position of power over the
- 42:56Speaker 1: creatures on this island. So I'm interested in what this
- 43:01Speaker 1: dude like. Is there a way that we can team
- 43:04Speaker 1: up here somehow even though he's against the Samurai and
- 43:09Speaker 1: we sort of are on the Samurai's side. Maybe we
- 43:13Speaker 1: can work something out and have like a little discussion
- 43:16Speaker 1: and get it all straightened out. And you know, I
- 43:19Speaker 1: don't know. So anyway, I'm gonna jump back really quick
- 43:23Speaker 1: before the end of this episode because this is when
- 43:25Speaker 1: the straw Hats go into the nursery and start to
- 43:27Speaker 1: fight the dudes who are in the hazmat suits. We
- 43:32Speaker 1: get some of Chopper in his like really compact stout
- 43:39Speaker 1: sort of form the newer one. I can't remember if
- 43:41Speaker 1: there's a name for it, but he is doing like
- 43:45Speaker 1: a bunch of ninja shit, which is badass. And Frankie
- 43:48Speaker 1: comes in and is doing a bunch of stuff, and
- 43:52Speaker 1: Sanji kicks a guy. It's so funny to you sometimes
- 43:54Speaker 1: the way that Sanji's kicks hit. It's like somebody will
- 43:59Speaker 1: just be standing there and then you'll just see them
- 44:01Speaker 1: careening into the ceiling. But his leg is drawn so
- 44:05Speaker 1: weirdly that you don't connect that it's his leg right away.
- 44:09Speaker 1: So there have been a few times where he's kicked
- 44:10Speaker 1: somebody and I'm like, wait, what just happened to them?
- 44:12Speaker 1: And then you'll see the camera pans over and you'll
- 44:15Speaker 1: see that, like that shape is his leg connecting to
- 44:18Speaker 1: his body, and you'll be like, oh, okay. I love
- 44:23Speaker 1: the fact that Sanji is like the fact that Nami
- 44:26Speaker 1: is only ever nice to children is like, it only
- 44:30Speaker 1: makes her sexier. This is one of the only times
- 44:32Speaker 1: that I like the fact that he just the idea
- 44:37Speaker 1: that he's into a woman who's kind of like rude
- 44:42Speaker 1: and mean to everybody else. This is something about his
- 44:46Speaker 1: personality that I kind of understand. I get it. So anyway,
- 44:52Speaker 1: he's just smoking, observing this whole thing, and he's like,
- 44:55Speaker 1: all right, chop er, take Nami and get out of here.
- 45:00Speaker 1: Says all right, listen up, ankle biters. Follow the beautiful
- 45:04Speaker 1: lady and the kung fu raccoon. So the kids, this
- 45:10Speaker 1: is the The girl's name is Mocha, I think the
- 45:13Speaker 1: oldest girl, uh son. She has to say, though I'm
- 45:19Speaker 1: not doing any of this for you, I hate you
- 45:22Speaker 1: for putting Nami in danger and because she likes you
- 45:26Speaker 1: so much. What a weird comment. This is something that
- 45:31Speaker 1: I have heard is a real thing. Men who you
- 45:34Speaker 1: know their partner has a child, and the dude is
- 45:39Speaker 1: jealous of the child, the infant because it's getting so
- 45:44Speaker 1: much attention. So like, this is clearly a real thing.
- 45:48Speaker 1: But y'all, that is some that is weird to me.
- 45:53Speaker 1: It just it just is. Uh So, Anyway, he is
- 45:59Speaker 1: taking care of them, taking up the rear as the
- 46:02Speaker 1: rest of the group of kids runs out, and all
- 46:05Speaker 1: I could think was, like, they better hope that whatever
- 46:09Speaker 1: door they leave through that they're on the warmer side
- 46:13Speaker 1: of the island, because these kids are all in like
- 46:17Speaker 1: shorts and undershirts. They have practically nothing on, and if
- 46:21Speaker 1: they are out in the cold, it is going to
- 46:23Speaker 1: go badly for them pretty quickly. Frankie of course, also
- 46:29Speaker 1: stays with Sanjy to fight these dudes. So we have
- 46:32Speaker 1: them like squaring up, and you guys, there's the last
- 46:39Speaker 1: thing we have like in this scene is Brooke playing
- 46:44Speaker 1: in the snow and singing a little song to himself,
- 46:48Speaker 1: and I just really I know that this is not
- 46:52Speaker 1: the content that y'all are necessarily here for, but I
- 46:56Speaker 1: really want to read you so I y'all know, I
- 47:03Speaker 1: love Brooke. I love the voice actor and the way
- 47:06Speaker 1: that he is playing him. I just find him to
- 47:09Speaker 1: be a standout always in every episode. His delivery of
- 47:14Speaker 1: every line is genuinely so funny, and it's just short
- 47:18Speaker 1: lines that aren't really like they shouldn't be as funny
- 47:21Speaker 1: as they are. So I decided to just look up
- 47:24Speaker 1: who this voice actor is, and his name is Ian Sinclair,
- 47:29Speaker 1: and he has done the voice for a ton of anime,
- 47:37Speaker 1: like so much, and I was just reading through the
- 47:42Speaker 1: titles of some of them and I could not stop laving.
- 47:47Speaker 1: I'm sure that a lot of this is like a
- 47:49Speaker 1: translation thing, but it results in some of the most
- 47:52Speaker 1: hilarious titles. So I'm just gonna read you some of
- 47:55Speaker 1: these because I just thought some and it's a small
- 47:59Speaker 1: number that I'm reading here because there's so many. But
- 48:04Speaker 1: also special mentioned to Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood because I
- 48:08Speaker 1: did cover that and he was a voice in that.
- 48:11Speaker 1: He was Liam genuinely don't remember who that even is
- 48:14Speaker 1: at this point, but I just wanted to mention that here.
- 48:19Speaker 1: So we've got Spice and Wolf two Attack on Titan,
- 48:28Speaker 1: which I know is a famous one, so I'm gonna
- 48:30Speaker 1: mention that as well. Nile Doc is apparently who he
- 48:34Speaker 1: plays in that Space Dandy Amazing Assassination, Classroom death Parade.
- 48:45Speaker 1: I mean, that's just metal. Soul Eater not exclamation point.
- 48:52Speaker 1: I don't know why I have an exclamation point after Unspoiled,
- 48:57Speaker 1: so I'm not going to judge, but soul Eater not
- 49:00Speaker 1: for how does that work out? Unbreakable machine doll. Let's
- 49:08Speaker 1: see where there was a really wild one that was
- 49:11Speaker 1: coming up. Oh I love cheer boys and that one
- 49:14Speaker 1: has two exclamation points and you thought there is never
- 49:19Speaker 1: a girl online? Question mark all out to exclamation points?
- 49:28Speaker 1: Kay Joe seven exclamation points? Uh he is on Dragon
- 49:34Speaker 1: Ball super plays. Wis gonna mention that anything that I
- 49:37Speaker 1: sort of recognize the name, I'm going to say it.
- 49:42Speaker 1: Let's see where's the one. Oh yeah, convenience store boyfriends
- 49:46Speaker 1: love it. Genocidal organ For me, that is a real
- 49:52Speaker 1: sort of feeling like we've got just two words that
- 49:55Speaker 1: were putting together on a mad lib, but I don't
- 49:59Speaker 1: know it sort of works, Black Clover Pop Team Epic,
- 50:08Speaker 1: the Let's See, Where's the Sorry guys. That one piece
- 50:11Speaker 1: keeps popping up because there's movies as well, so he
- 50:15Speaker 1: apparently was voicing either Brook or some other character in
- 50:19Speaker 1: the movies I have. I'm trying to not look past
- 50:21Speaker 1: just the titles because I'm afraid of I'm going to
- 50:23Speaker 1: get a spoiler. Wonder Egg Priority, which there is more
- 50:30Speaker 1: than one of those on this list, apparently a series
- 50:34Speaker 1: World Trigger, The Prince of Tennis, which is I don't know,
- 50:40Speaker 1: that sort of got a ring to it. The Slime
- 50:43Speaker 1: Diaries colon that time I got reincarnated as a slime,
- 50:50Speaker 1: which is just Chef's Kiss amazing. And let's see. The
- 50:57Speaker 1: last one that I liked was just called laid Back Camp,
- 51:03Speaker 1: and that was recent. That's a twenty twenty four project.
- 51:06Speaker 1: So anyway, guys, I just really I was looking through
- 51:09Speaker 1: this and I thought some of these names were so great,
- 51:11Speaker 1: and I just had to share them with you because
- 51:14Speaker 1: I was giggling to myself. Genocidal organ is really one
- 51:18Speaker 1: that like wedged itself into my head, because that is
- 51:23Speaker 1: there's so many questions that that brings up. So anyway,
- 51:27Speaker 1: sorry for this little sidetrack, but I don't apologize really
- 51:31Speaker 1: because it was worth it. But this is when somebody
- 51:35Speaker 1: begins to attack Brook. He's in the midst of making
- 51:39Speaker 1: a bunch of snowmen with all of these weird little
- 51:42Speaker 1: metal parts and uh using them to make the faces,
- 51:46Speaker 1: and it's actually kind of adorable. I was sort of
- 51:49Speaker 1: hoping that some weird magic would bring them all to life,
- 51:51Speaker 1: but we're not in Frosty the Snowman unfortunately. So the
- 51:58Speaker 1: next episode it deals a lot with his fight with
- 52:01Speaker 1: the Torso, and then we have got the marine guys
- 52:05Speaker 1: who are trying to get all like across the very
- 52:11Speaker 1: treacherous land here. It's interesting too because since our friends,
- 52:14Speaker 1: like the ship is on the snowy side, but they
- 52:19Speaker 1: didn't intend to go over there, we didn't really see
- 52:23Speaker 1: all of these glaciers and everything that the Marines are
- 52:26Speaker 1: dealing with. We saw all of this lava, and you
- 52:31Speaker 1: know the way that they coped with that with Nami's
- 52:33Speaker 1: cloud bridge and they were able to just basically skip
- 52:37Speaker 1: over it all, and so getting to see the defenses
- 52:40Speaker 1: of all of the ice, it was just kind of
- 52:44Speaker 1: fun to see how different it is coming from this direction. Also, guys,
- 52:48Speaker 1: I have to mention the fact that Smoker is over
- 52:52Speaker 1: here with a gas mask on, with a pair of
- 52:57Speaker 1: cigars jammed into one of the holes in the gas mask.
- 53:04Speaker 1: Just truly beautiful stuff. Love this so much. And all
- 53:10Speaker 1: of his men are just like, how did you know
- 53:12Speaker 1: that there was a river behind all of this? That's
- 53:14Speaker 1: so impressive, and he just chucks them all and says,
- 53:19Speaker 1: looking at the sea current, you morons, you morons. You
- 53:23Speaker 1: gotta start paying attention, and Smoker says, the fact that
- 53:31Speaker 1: there was a hidden river is not what's important in
- 53:34Speaker 1: this situation. What really matters is whether the ice blocking
- 53:38Speaker 1: it formed naturally or was man made. And basically they're like, okay,
- 53:44Speaker 1: so maybe somebody was hiding the river on purpose. And
- 53:47Speaker 1: I'm like, yeah, guys, come on, obviously, like there's a
- 53:52Speaker 1: gas mask, like there's gas that shouldn't be here, there's
- 53:56Speaker 1: something blocking the entrance to the river. Of course, but
- 54:00Speaker 1: these dudes are not smart. They keep admiring to Shigi
- 54:03Speaker 1: but also just being incredibly disrespectful to her as well.
- 54:05Speaker 1: So I just had to mention that because she is
- 54:07Speaker 1: so annoying or they are so annoying. She is actually
- 54:10Speaker 1: kind of annoying too, but it's not her fault. It's
- 54:13Speaker 1: the voice actress. I don't know if she does voices
- 54:16Speaker 1: for other characters, but I don't feel like she's very
- 54:19Speaker 1: strong in this role. And t Shigi is supposed to
- 54:22Speaker 1: be kind of a hard ass, but she doesn't feel
- 54:24Speaker 1: very convincing. Like Nami's a voice actor, you know, she
- 54:28Speaker 1: does a great job whenever she's being a hard ass,
- 54:30Speaker 1: and you buy it. But this girl, it just sounds
- 54:33Speaker 1: like somebody who is pretty actually like mild mannered, sort
- 54:37Speaker 1: of pretending. And at first that's what I thought t
- 54:41Speaker 1: Shiki's deal was. But the more I get to know her,
- 54:43Speaker 1: the more I'm like, no, I think she's genuinely a
- 54:45Speaker 1: hard ass. I don't think this is her trying to pretend.
- 54:49Speaker 1: I think she is this and it's just the actor
- 54:51Speaker 1: that's sort of giving me this impression of her. So anyway,
- 54:57Speaker 1: as they are they're coming in on this river, we
- 55:02Speaker 1: go over to our friends who are approaching Boss, and
- 55:06Speaker 1: we get to see what this dude looks like, and
- 55:09Speaker 1: he is essentially like a cartoon pirate, but just you know,
- 55:16Speaker 1: extremely tall, the way that always the bosses seem to
- 55:19Speaker 1: be unless they're loofy and or no, that's brown Beard.
- 55:25Speaker 1: He's not boss, right, this is this is a different
- 55:27Speaker 1: guy is boss and brown Beard the same guy. I
- 55:32Speaker 1: don't remember if that's actually said, but it's so funny
- 55:36Speaker 1: how many people are named like color Beard. But he
- 55:42Speaker 1: is certain that who they've got with them is the
- 55:45Speaker 1: samurai and is saying that, like we are, you are
- 55:49Speaker 1: clearly spoiling for a fight. It's nothing but a pathetic ploy.
- 55:57Speaker 1: And he's saying to all of his men, you can't
- 56:01Speaker 1: let them get any farther. And there's a centaur woman
- 56:04Speaker 1: here who has, like, of course, very very similar look
- 56:08Speaker 1: to Robin, because everybody, like most of the women just
- 56:11Speaker 1: seem to look identical to each other in this series.
- 56:15Speaker 1: And she's wearing this like kind of adorable like zip
- 56:19Speaker 1: up parka that goes over her whole like front and rear,
- 56:23Speaker 1: and I was just like, wow, I wonder where she
- 56:24Speaker 1: got that from. That's actually like a really cute look.
- 56:29Speaker 1: Jumping back to the straw hats that are inside with
- 56:32Speaker 1: the children, and Chopper is really out here like I
- 56:36Speaker 1: am gonna do whatever it takes, and his eyes are
- 56:39Speaker 1: getting all like flamey, and he is determined as he
- 56:44Speaker 1: does a summersault over everybody's heads and just knocks out
- 56:48Speaker 1: each of the dudes that is ahead of them because
- 56:50Speaker 1: they're about to I think either like gas them or
- 56:54Speaker 1: use like water hoses. I'm not sure. I think it
- 56:58Speaker 1: was just gonna be a gasp a gas that they
- 57:01Speaker 1: use like a sleeping gas. But just the fact that
- 57:06Speaker 1: we get to see Chopper being a badass, I really
- 57:10Speaker 1: enjoy it. Y'all know, every time that he gets to
- 57:12Speaker 1: show off a little bit like this, it's gratifying because
- 57:16Speaker 1: it's rare, and when he's with Nami, he's allowed to
- 57:20Speaker 1: be the fighter out of the two of them. So anyway,
- 57:25Speaker 1: one of these kids has a head that looks so
- 57:27Speaker 1: much like an onion, so very much like an onion.
- 57:30Speaker 1: It's reminding me of like one of the kids on
- 57:33Speaker 1: Usop's Island that was admiring him way back, because I
- 57:39Speaker 1: feel like he was actually named Onion in Japanese. So
- 57:45Speaker 1: we've got more of the fight inside with with Sanji,
- 57:51Speaker 1: Frankie and the head of the Samurai, but I'm not
- 57:57Speaker 1: going to get too much into that because it's which
- 58:00Speaker 1: is sort of weird he's talking about the battle that
- 58:04Speaker 1: he is in and how he's never faced a challenge
- 58:06Speaker 1: like that, and Frankie's like, what are you talking about?
- 58:09Speaker 1: And he has to be like, oh, sorry, not here
- 58:12Speaker 1: my torso. It's in a different battle. And I was
- 58:15Speaker 1: just like, this is this is some wild stuff that
- 58:18Speaker 1: you have to keep track of. Guy. We have tashi
- 58:22Speaker 1: Ye cutting this giant like ice island that's been chucked
- 58:28Speaker 1: at them. It's a glacier, I guess, but it's like
- 58:30Speaker 1: mid air and she is saving her entire crew, going
- 58:36Speaker 1: back to Brooke and his you know, fight with the torso,
- 58:42Speaker 1: and then we go to Caesar Clown, who is extremely
- 58:47Speaker 1: agitated that the marine ship has managed to get as
- 58:52Speaker 1: far inward as it has. You know, the whole point
- 58:56Speaker 1: is that they're not supposed to get to like the
- 59:00Speaker 1: inside of the island, and he's asking why do they
- 59:03Speaker 1: even want to come ashore so badly? Like why do
- 59:07Speaker 1: they what brought them here in the first place, and
- 59:11Speaker 1: asks who their commanding officer is, and when somebody tells
- 59:14Speaker 1: him it's Smoker, he's like, huh, okay, well, I guess
- 59:19Speaker 1: that's not a huge surprise, but I don't know what
- 59:24Speaker 1: that means if it's just that Smoker tends to be
- 59:27Speaker 1: somebody who's really tenacious, sees through bullshit, I don't know.
- 59:32Speaker 1: And he tells them, like our ships that are out front,
- 59:35Speaker 1: you have got to hide and don't let anybody see
- 59:40Speaker 1: you because they can't know that there are people here
- 59:43Speaker 1: at all. It's supposed to be completely deserted. So then
- 59:49Speaker 1: you hear a voice say you want me to handle it?
- 59:53Speaker 1: And it was the outline of Trafalgar Law. He is
- 59:58Speaker 1: very recognizable, and I was so confused. I didn't know
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: what to make it. I still don't know what to
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: make of this. So the marine ship eventually, you know,
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: it hits shore and they get off and they're approaching
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: this door, and all of the men it's so weird.
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: They're trying to like bash it in, pounding on the door,
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: and eventually Trafalgar just opens it and is like, hey,
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: so what are you guys doing here? And all of
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: the men react as if this is the most terrifying
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: thing they have ever seen that Trafalgar Law is and
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: he is like several tiers above Smoker if I'm not mistaken,
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: So I guess it makes sense, but I also couldn't
- 1:00:48Speaker 1: help but laugh at Like Trafalgar Law is supposedly working
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: with you guys most of the time, so and you know,
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: the like the fact that they're on the same team
- 1:01:01Speaker 1: allegedly apparently doesn't count for much because they say something
- 1:01:05Speaker 1: about how well, you know what he did right to
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: become one of the seven warlords, And we get a
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: flashback of this delivery of bags and all of the
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: bags are moving. He delivered the hearts of a hundred
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: pirates to navy headquarters. You guys, the hearts are like
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: moving inside the bags. I think it's suggesting their hearts
- 1:01:31Speaker 1: are still beating, which I don't know how that is
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: supposed to work. And there's no blood on the sex either,
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: which I did think was kind of surprising because the
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: show is not shy about blood, like mostly. But yeah,
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: Smoker is just like, okay, well, what the fuck are
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: you doing here? Though, Like there isn't supposed to be
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: anyone on this island, and Trafalgar Lodg just says, oh,
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: isn't there while you're here? So it seems like we
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: are at an impasse, and that is the end of
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: the episode. I don't know what to think of this,
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: and Trafalgar Law, like, I don't know. He's just not
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: somebody who has scared me that much. I haven't. He's
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: always just so relaxed. And there are characters who are
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: relaxed and then they do some wild shit and you're
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: just like, oh, okay, I get it. But Trafalgar Law
- 1:02:33Speaker 1: has been like kind of ducking in and out of
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: the story a lot, and I just don't feel like
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: I've got really a handle on him yet, and him
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: working with this weird smoke monster. I have no idea
- 1:02:46Speaker 1: what his link is to any of this. So ooh okay,
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: I'm sorry, I'm seeing Seraphim was commenting in the chat,
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: but I think Boss is brown Beard. Seraphim said, okay,
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: noted likely. Yes, Punk Hazard is named after Vega Punk.
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: The asylum was his lab until the indecent four years
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: or oh I think it was supposed to say incident
- 1:03:08Speaker 1: four years ago. It says indecent, but you know the
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: incident was indecent, and then keeping children locked up is
- 1:03:14Speaker 1: also indecent, so that's perfectly adequate to call it that,
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: I think. Yeah, all right, so we wrapped up. Uh,
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: thank you guys again for bearing with me when I
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: just miss stuff. I'm so sorry. I really try, I
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: really do. I get very embarrassed when I get things
- 1:03:31Speaker 1: so wrong, but it can't be helped. It's gonna happen
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: when you do as many episodes as I do. It's
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: gonna it's gonna happen, all right, everybody. Thank you again
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: so much for listening. Thank you to Sarah m for
- 1:03:46Speaker 1: joining me here. Thank you to Florian for commissioning this.
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: And I'll be seeing you soon with a new one.
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: Until then, do the loo, motherfuckers. That was an unspoiled
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: network
