Day 235. Jeremiah 38-41
Jerusalem finally falls after a prolonged siege. Jeremiah is thrown into a cistern but is rescued before he dies, while King Zedekiah attempts to escape and is captured. The city and temple are destroyed, and many of the people are taken into exile. Yet Jeremiah is allowed to remain in the land. The section closes with further violence and instability among the survivors, showing the devastating consequences of Judah’s long rebellion.
