- 0:00Speaker 1: Joining me on the line right now is Christina Jones,
- 0:03Speaker 1: who's the owner of the Top Springs Hotel. Good morning
- 0:06Speaker 1: to Christina, Katie. I understand you guys were broken into
- 0:12Speaker 1: last night.
- 0:15Speaker 2: It was actually Sunday night. What's today? Actually yesday night?
- 0:20Speaker 1: What Monday night was? What night was it?
- 0:23Speaker 2: Sorry? Not last night? The night before? And what happens?
- 0:29Speaker 2: And well, this is the third time in six months
- 0:33Speaker 2: that we've been baking into and it's the into the
- 0:37Speaker 2: back shed there where all the alcohol is stored, and
- 0:42Speaker 2: they've taken a lethal amount of alcohol which has now
- 0:46Speaker 2: going back into the community, we believe, and it's just
- 0:50Speaker 2: going to endanger everybody basically, not only the indigenous communities,
- 0:55Speaker 2: the white community.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Well, Christina, how just how much alcohol stolen?
- 1:02Speaker 2: Well it's over ten thousand dollars worth of alcohol stolen.
- 1:06Speaker 2: It is a lethal amount of alcohol.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Oh my goodness. So this happened on Sunday night. And
- 1:13Speaker 1: what they broke in they broke into the storage area.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Yeah, so called the locks of the hot water talk
- 1:22Speaker 2: lift that was half there. And the way they went
- 1:26Speaker 2: with it, Oh my goodness, sounds them to get anything done.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Yeah, Christina, what kind of impact I mean, talk me
- 1:34Speaker 1: through in terms of the monetary you said ten thousand
- 1:38Speaker 1: dollars worth of alcohol. That's astronomical. Then when you talk
- 1:42Speaker 1: about the damage, how much damage was caused.
- 1:47Speaker 2: I haven't been there myself. I don't think there's a
- 1:49Speaker 2: lot of damage cause. But it's basically the fact that
- 1:52Speaker 2: the alcohol is out there now in the community and
- 1:56Speaker 2: we can't do anything about it, nothing can be nothing's
- 1:59Speaker 2: being done about it it basically, and you know, it
- 2:02Speaker 2: is endangering the lives of the mean domestic violence. If
- 2:05Speaker 2: I'd sold them that alcohol, I'd be locked up, But
- 2:09Speaker 2: it's okay for them to go and take the alcohol
- 2:13Speaker 2: and possibly resell it, or belt each other up, or
- 2:17Speaker 2: drive down the road and kill someone going somewhere for
- 2:20Speaker 2: Christmas or you know, it is a huge problem.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Christina. Obviously there is CCTV or you've I'm assuming that
- 2:27Speaker 1: that's been passed on to the police, because it sounds
- 2:29Speaker 1: as though you've got a bit of an idea. Who's
- 2:31Speaker 1: broken in?
- 2:33Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, that has been touted on to the police. Yeah.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Is this the first time for you guys, or is
- 2:40Speaker 1: this something that's happened before.
- 2:43Speaker 2: No, this is the third time in six months, and
- 2:46Speaker 2: the same believed if it's the same offenders. Yeah, and
- 2:51Speaker 2: yet absolutely nothing is being done about it. And as
- 2:55Speaker 2: I if I'd sold them the alcohol, then yeah, that'd
- 2:59Speaker 2: be huge.
- 2:59Speaker 1: And to me, Christina, for those out there listening who
- 3:03Speaker 1: don't know exactly where the Top Springs Hotel is, where
- 3:06Speaker 1: is that?
- 3:08Speaker 2: It's Southwest's Catherine three hundred kilometers Southeleester Catherin on the
- 3:13Speaker 2: Buntie Highway.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Yep. I like, honestly, that is a terrible situation. They're
- 3:20Speaker 1: ten thousand dollars worth of alcohol. You must like, what
- 3:25Speaker 1: are we talking? Hard spirits, beer, wine, bit of everything.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a rum beer, all heavy alcohol served only
- 3:37Speaker 2: over the bar. We can't sell that as takeaway alcohol. Yeah,
- 3:43Speaker 2: and there's yeah.
- 3:46Speaker 1: There word Yeah, Christina, what a you know, what a
- 3:51Speaker 1: you know, terrible situation as well ahead of Christmas? Does
- 3:55Speaker 1: it hinder in any way you guys being able to
- 3:58Speaker 1: operate the hotel.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Because there are people we you know, we have motel
- 4:05Speaker 2: rooms there, we have still their people need to drive
- 4:07Speaker 2: through and we can't be shut down because of it.
- 4:10Speaker 2: But yeah, I honestly I can't comprehend what is going
- 4:16Speaker 2: to happen in the community with that amount of alcohol
- 4:20Speaker 2: flowers the beliefs that obviously in short supply and they're
- 4:25Speaker 2: going to be run off their feet trying to control
- 4:27Speaker 2: that one like a wildfire.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Well, let us see what we can find out. We
- 4:31Speaker 1: will certainly get in contact with the police and see
- 4:33Speaker 1: what we can find out. I really appreciate you getting
- 4:36Speaker 1: in contact with us and letting us know, Otherwise we'd
- 4:38Speaker 1: have no idea. But gee, that is a huge amount
- 4:43Speaker 1: of alcohol and you know, a bad situation for a
- 4:47Speaker 1: number of reasons.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, Well thanks for taking my call.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Yeah, anytime, Christina, Thank you very much for you know,
- 4:56Speaker 1: for contacting us and making us aware of it. I
