- 0:00Speaker 1: Meanwhile, major progress made overnight in the negotiations with iron
- 0:04Speaker 1: after Vice President d Add Vance traveled to Switzerland to
- 0:07Speaker 1: meet with the mediators from the Middle East.
- 0:10Speaker 2: Man who's all over at Chief Foreign Corresponding Trey Yangs
- 0:12Speaker 2: joined US now from Tel Aviv with the latest.
- 0:14Speaker 3: Ay Trey, Yeah, Hey, guys, good morning. High level diplomatic
- 0:18Speaker 3: talks wrapped up overnight in Switzerland aimed at solidifying the
- 0:22Speaker 3: memorandum of understanding and entering into the next phase of negotiations.
- 0:26Speaker 3: We know that both Qatar and Pakistan released a statement
- 0:31Speaker 3: indicating a committee has been formed. That committee reached an
- 0:34Speaker 3: understanding on a roadmap for the technical talks over the
- 0:37Speaker 3: next sixty days. A US diplomat involved in the talks
- 0:40Speaker 3: told Fox News that some of the discussion was focused
- 0:42Speaker 3: on clarifying the confusing messaging on the Strait of Horn
- 0:45Speaker 3: moves to ensure it will remain open, adding that robust
- 0:48Speaker 3: discussions on all elements of the nuclear deal are ongoing.
- 0:52Speaker 3: On Sunday, Vice President Vance laid out the broader questions.
- 1:00Speaker 4: Straight of Hormuz, the ending of the Iranian nuclear program.
- 1:03Speaker 4: All of these things have already been accomplished. The question
- 1:06Speaker 4: before US now is how much more can we accomplish together?
- 1:09Speaker 4: Can we turn over a new leaf, Can we change
- 1:11Speaker 4: relations in the Middle East permanently? Or do we go
- 1:15Speaker 4: back to doing things the old which is not our preference,
- 1:17Speaker 4: but it is certainly very much something that can happen.
- 1:21Speaker 3: The Iranians also acknowledge major progress in the talks, adding
- 1:25Speaker 3: that a deconfliction cell for Lebanon will be the first
- 1:27Speaker 3: real test of the understanding. Israel and Hesbela did not
- 1:30Speaker 3: trade fire on Sunday for the first time since March second,
- 1:34Speaker 3: according to the UN. In response, Israel lifted all restrictions
- 1:37Speaker 3: for civilians in the north of the country. In a
- 1:39Speaker 3: call with Fox News on Sunday, President Trump said he
- 1:42Speaker 3: was disappointed Israel can't put Hesbelah away. The leader of Hesbela,
- 1:46Speaker 3: Naim Kassam, gave a televised speech over the weekend indicating
- 1:49Speaker 3: that Israeli forces staying in southern Lebanon would mean a
- 1:52Speaker 3: violation of the deal mafiche.
- 1:55Speaker 5: There is no such thing as a ceasefire that grants
- 1:59Speaker 5: Israel freedom of action. A ceasefire means a complete halt
- 2:03Speaker 5: of hostilities by air, land and sea. It means no demolitions,
- 2:08Speaker 5: no concilidation of its presence in the occupied areas, no
- 2:12Speaker 5: further advances in preparations for the withdrawal, which should take
- 2:16Speaker 5: place according to a rapid time bound schedule.
- 2:21Speaker 3: Lebanon will likely remain a sticking point in the memorandum
- 2:24Speaker 3: of understanding. When I spoke with the President, he indicated
- 2:28Speaker 3: this sixty day ceasefire is an option for him and
- 2:31Speaker 3: that both military and diplomatic action could be on the
- 2:34Speaker 3: table after that.
- 2:36Speaker 5: Gosh a trade.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Does it seem like there's a disconnect between what's in
- 2:39Speaker 2: the MoU and what the president's saying to you. I mean,
- 2:43Speaker 2: for example, Iran says it says it in the MoU
- 2:47Speaker 2: that Iran will conduct dialogue with Oman to decide about
- 2:52Speaker 2: basically the administration of the Strait with services administration of
- 2:57Speaker 2: the Strait. I mean, the President says is going to
- 3:00Speaker 2: be no tolls, but it's actually in the MoU that
- 3:03Speaker 2: there didn't negotiate tolls. I mean, this something as fundamental
- 3:07Speaker 2: as at and letting sanctions off and sell oil at
- 3:10Speaker 2: full market price. I mean, it doesn't see it seems
- 3:13Speaker 2: like we gave away the store before the opening.
- 3:19Speaker 3: My sense after talking with the President is that he
- 3:21Speaker 3: is giving this sixty day window a chance to see
- 3:24Speaker 3: what they can actually agree on at the negotiating table.
- 3:27Speaker 3: As it relates to the Strait of Hormuz, he actually
- 3:29Speaker 3: left open the possibility of taking control of the strait
- 3:32Speaker 3: and said if there are going to be tolls, they
- 3:34Speaker 3: will be charged by the United States, and the US
- 3:36Speaker 3: could even take oil in that environment. The President described
- 3:39Speaker 3: this as the United States being the guardian angel of
- 3:42Speaker 3: the Strait of Hormuz. And so again my sense is
- 3:46Speaker 3: that despite what is written in this agreement and the
- 3:48Speaker 3: statements that we've heard from the Iranian regime, the President
- 3:51Speaker 3: is going to demand what he wants here. And we
- 3:55Speaker 3: know that the United States is not on board with
- 3:57Speaker 3: the Iranians tolling the Strait of Hormuz. They're also not
- 3:59Speaker 3: on board with the Iranians enriching uranium for military purposes. Now,
- 4:03Speaker 3: the President left open the idea in the future that
- 4:06Speaker 3: Iran could have some sort of civilian enrichment, but he
- 4:09Speaker 3: directly spoke against the statement yesterday from Iran's President Masud Pezeshkian,
- 4:13Speaker 3: saying he better watches mouth when he is talking about
- 4:16Speaker 3: Iran and enriching uranium and speaking out against the president himself,
- 4:19Speaker 3: and so again I think a lot of the things
- 4:21Speaker 3: here are going to have to be negotiated during this timeframe.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Both Pakistan and Katar seem optimistic that they've at least
- 4:28Speaker 3: reached an understanding about how these technical details are.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Going to be discussed.
- 4:32Speaker 6: But the devil is in.
- 4:33Speaker 3: The details here, and I don't think we're going to
- 4:35Speaker 3: have an actual answer on what the Iranians are willing
- 4:38Speaker 3: to give up and the concessions they're willing to make
- 4:40Speaker 3: until this sixty day window passes.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:42Speaker 7: And also, Trey, when it comes to the latest news,
- 4:44Speaker 7: you just said it that Iran and the United States
- 4:47Speaker 7: agreed to create a deconfliction cell in Lebanon. To the
- 4:52Speaker 7: best of your knowledge, can you explain what that might mean.
- 4:57Speaker 3: Yeah, it would likely have to do with any sort
- 5:00Speaker 3: of operations that are taking place against Hesbla. And we
- 5:03Speaker 3: heard from the President yesterday on True Social and he
- 5:05Speaker 3: said that he would resume bombing the Iranians if they
- 5:08Speaker 3: will not get their proxies in Lebanon under control. And
- 5:11Speaker 3: he is talking about Hesbolah, Because again, this is one
- 5:15Speaker 3: of those points that could derail this memorandum of understanding
- 5:18Speaker 3: because the Iranians are trying to tie the situation in
- 5:21Speaker 3: southern Lebanon to the broader agreement. But remember, the Israelis
- 5:24Speaker 3: lost five soldiers of their own this weekend over a
- 5:28Speaker 3: forty eight hour period. Hesbola killed five IDF soldiers and
- 5:31Speaker 3: the Israelis responded with air strikes against Hesbola. And they
- 5:34Speaker 3: say they will not only maintain a security zone, but
- 5:36Speaker 3: they will maintain the right to strike if Hesbela attacks
- 5:39Speaker 3: their forces. And so again, this will be one area
- 5:43Speaker 3: where at least they're trying to deconflict, but the broader
- 5:45Speaker 3: effort by the Trump administration is very important.
- 5:47Speaker 5: Here.
- 5:48Speaker 3: There is a parallel diplomatic track ongoing, and they're trying
- 5:51Speaker 3: to reach an understanding with the Lebanese Army and the
- 5:53Speaker 3: Lebanese government to work on one goal to disarm Hesbela.
- 5:57Speaker 4: And if they're.
- 5:57Speaker 3: Successful in that, you could see a scenario, I'm told
- 6:00Speaker 3: by regional intelligence sources where you actually have the IDF
- 6:03Speaker 3: and the Lebanese Army working together in southern Lebanon to
- 6:06Speaker 3: reclaim villages that the IDF has cleared and allows civilians
- 6:10Speaker 3: to return to these villages and ensure that Hesbela is
- 6:13Speaker 3: not rearming or reforming in the southern part of Lebanon,
- 6:17Speaker 3: and so that parallel track could actually address some of
- 6:19Speaker 3: the concerns as it relates to the issue of the
- 6:22Speaker 3: conflict between Israel and Hesbelah.
- 6:24Speaker 1: That's perfect, and now they can't the talking point that
- 6:27Speaker 1: Israel's going against Lebanon and not Hesbealah. That talking point
- 6:31Speaker 1: is dead at that moment thanks to messagery. I do
- 6:33Speaker 1: get the impression, guys, just talking with the president of
- 6:36Speaker 1: the weekend that the document, we've obsessed over the document
- 6:40Speaker 1: the about you for so much, but I'm not sure
- 6:43Speaker 1: how much weight it carries in his eyes. I think
- 6:47Speaker 1: the way he looks at it is that it was
- 6:48Speaker 1: a starting point and he wants to go back and forth.
- 6:52Speaker 1: But many the things that the Iranians are doing and
- 6:55Speaker 1: suggesting are infuriating the president, and he's saying, you know,
- 7:00Speaker 1: if they want to do this, then I got to
- 7:01Speaker 1: strike them. I got to strike them. So I'm not
- 7:03Speaker 1: sure this document well means any.
- 7:05Speaker 6: But then why the President's got to negotiate directly then,
- 7:08Speaker 6: because the Steve Wikoff loves this document and the JD
- 7:14Speaker 6: Vance put this document together and they're negotiating the thing,
- 7:17Speaker 6: and the president's on the outside.
- 7:19Speaker 2: The President's got to go on the inside because then
- 7:21Speaker 2: the negotiators are wasting their time because I mean, no
- 7:25Speaker 2: one's happy with this document. The president doesn't seem to
- 7:27Speaker 2: be happy, as you indicated. So why are the people
- 7:30Speaker 2: that created the document negotiating the deal? Because clearly, I
- 7:35Speaker 2: think Jdvans, who's late to this party, I don't understand
- 7:38Speaker 2: the depth of the disagreement, and the fact that he
- 7:41Speaker 2: hopped down Friday and starts ripping Israel and says they
- 7:43Speaker 2: have no friends is ridiculous. Have you heard of the
- 7:46Speaker 2: Abraham Accords? I mean, do you understand that the Gulf
- 7:48Speaker 2: States are tighty with Israel?
- 7:50Speaker 6: Then?
- 7:50Speaker 2: Ever before do you understand do you ever hear of
- 7:52Speaker 2: the country India? India has been extremely tight with Israel.
- 7:55Speaker 2: So if you don't attack Israel, they don't attack you.
- 7:58Speaker 2: This is a survival thing, and we should ever have
- 8:00Speaker 2: allowed the Hezbla situation to be linked with this. They
- 8:03Speaker 2: have no right to be in another country and Iran
- 8:06Speaker 2: has no right to finance HESBLA in that country.
- 8:09Speaker 7: Yeah, so sixty days to negotiate, we'll see what happens.
- 8:12Speaker 7: If something happens in that sixty day period or thereafter
