- James Dooley: The five P's of Google Business Profile Optimization. Today I'm joined with Mike Martin, I'm joined with Peter Jones and I'm joined with Paul Truscott. So first and foremost Mike, you've got an outdated process of four P's. Can you explain the four P's of Google Business Profile Optimization please? Mike Martin: So profile completeness and mirroring are one P. James has to stick in some stupid, I won't swear on your podcast, word that makes no sense and nobody's ever gonna remember. So we've got profile completeness and mirroring, which is your website, sorry your Google Business Profile is completely populated and then you mirror it across the web. Okay, website, citations, everywhere. Make sure it's mirrored everywhere and there's a tool inside the software to do that. Then you've got pictures, posts and praise. So it's literally and then times consistency is a loop that keeps coming around. James has tried to improve a perfect concept and he's insisted in our new book that he improves it with this crazy word that no one's ever gonna remember. Over to you my friend. James Dooley: Right, so I've top trumped the four P's to being the five P's because he's tried to on one of them put profile completeness, which I think is very important by the way. I think making certain that you're looking at the profile, you're filling in all that information is very important. However, I don't think that filling in all the information on your Google Business Profile is the same work as then propagating that and mirroring and echoing that on the internet. So that, doing the Yelp listing, doing the yellow pages, doing the Thompson Local, doing the four pages and having that consistency in the descriptions and that NAP listing, being listing on other party, on third party corroborative sources, that propagation of repeating what's on your profile, I would say is a different P and that's where the five P's come from. Peter, I'm gonna throw you in the deep end and I don't want you to sit on the fence. Do you feel that filling in a profile of your Google Business Profile is the same as mirroring that across the internet? Yes or no? Come on, don't sit on the fence. Peter Jones: It's not the same action but the outcomes is the same. You are mirroring the same information across the web. Of course you are, but would you say that's the same P? No, it's a different P. It's not the same P. It's profile complete, it's a mirroring. It's the same action. It's the foundation. It's the foundation of what you do. James Dooley: These three have got a business. These guys run Maptimal together so they're going to stick up for each other. I'm going to introduce the sixth P which is pedantic. Essentially what Mike has said really does cover it but what you're saying is propagation kind of just clarifies that when we mirror we need to make sure we're mirroring far and wide, not just on the website. I get it. You're propagating what you're mirroring. It makes sense but is it needed? I don't know. What about prevalence? There's another P. Wait, I've just thought of a way that your P makes sense with mirroring. Profile completeness and mirroring means all of your website and existing citations mirror across the web and then propagation is creating new citations across the web that also mirror the existing. So why did you explain it like that? Paul Truscott: I did. No you didn't, did you guys? Because actually both of your business partners agreed with me, not you. Well the thing is he's trying to take away the M and I don't think you can because propagation isn't mirroring directly but it's a different thing. But yeah, if you mirror everything and then propagate what you're mirroring. So that still leaves us with an M that we don't know what to do with. No, no. Profile completeness underneath propagation, when I'm saying you're mirroring, you're mirroring the information that's on your profile. You're not saying mirroring, you're deleting mirroring. Yeah I know, I'm saying but underneath propagation, part of propagation is going and getting the NAP listing consistently on the internet, on the web. So mirroring it. Which is mirroring it, which is the propagation. You can't fucking delete mirroring if mirroring stays. No profile completeness, propagation, picks, posts and praise. James Dooley: Now for anyone who's listening to this, something that's very important, we're having a bit of a banter here. We've launched Maptimal, which is a done for you service for Google Business Profiles. We've teamed up with Mike Martin, he's got an amazing Google Business Profile agency dashboard. It makes things very, very simple. I'm going to be honest, I didn't realise how important consistency and recency is. And having this infinite loop where you can go to your clients to say, get the picks, posts and praise, consistently being updated was so important. Until I started recently doing multiple case studies in a lot of different markets, I'm like wowzers. I was very old school in the methodology of NAP listing citations, getting reviews. I always knew reviews were like the praise part of the P. I always knew that was important. And then I was trying to manipulate things with CTR and stuff like that. And I was doing things on a blackout strategy and technique. My issue was long term, it never really, long term rankings stuck. It was always the CTR would be, it'd be like a roller coaster. Now having this consistency of what you've done. I'm just happy that I've been able to upgrade your GPP loop framework, Mike. I think it's nice to be able to upgrade. I might actually put a fifth step in when I do actually do the original, rewrite the original book. And I may actually, but mirroring will stay because profile completeness and mirroring is step one. Propagating new citations across the web that mirror the original is also step two. I agree with you because that's going to keep the footprint growing. The king of AEO has to get his run in there. And then pictures, posts and praise times consistency and we're smashing it. And he's, yeah. And I get the love hearts there, see what the love hearts just did there, mate. Yeah, I don't know how you did that. So I'm right, there's no four Ps, there's five Ps for anyone that comes. And there's still an M, mirroring is still important and it needs to stay. But I agree there's five Ps, maybe. Propagation does have a step as long as we can come up with a word that actually people will remember. Like humans, like a builder remembering propagation is going to be like, I just don't get it because I don't remember it. For anyone that wants to know more information about the GPP loop framework, we have the four of us actually written a book about it. It comes out next week. Make sure you check out the GPP loop framework book review. There's a whole episode where we're talking about what different chapters are in there. But Mike, Paul, Peter, thank you very much.
