- 0:00Speaker 1: The Force will be with you always.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Welcome back to another episode of a Star Wars Alliance.
- 0:24Speaker 2: Of course, I'm your host Clay, and with me like
- 0:28Speaker 2: every single week. Of course is Katie.
- 0:34Speaker 3: It's it's my fancy new apartment. Guys, you know, super exciting. No,
- 0:42Speaker 3: I'm we are closed on my house. I'm living in
- 0:46Speaker 3: my mother's basement, so uh. And this is a pre
- 0:51Speaker 3: programmed stream yard background that we will be using for
- 0:55Speaker 3: the sable future.
- 0:57Speaker 2: I am empty, not completely moved out yet, but this
- 1:05Speaker 2: is the last Star Wars Alliance that I will be
- 1:09Speaker 2: doing in this apartment.
- 1:11Speaker 4: I am leaving next week.
- 1:15Speaker 2: But because of the heck, heck, heck, chaos words chaos boom,
- 1:22Speaker 2: that's an even better word, because of the chaos of moving.
- 1:27Speaker 2: I told I was like, I want to get packed
- 1:31Speaker 2: up as soon as possible. And if I record on
- 1:36Speaker 2: the Wednesday, literally two days before we're leaving, it means
- 1:41Speaker 2: that I have to force myself to not pack up
- 1:44Speaker 2: my setup. I really and and because of how I
- 1:51Speaker 2: literally mapped out like I did a little like brain
- 1:56Speaker 2: map in my head of what the storage unit is
- 2:00Speaker 2: to look like in the trailer, and my desk literally
- 2:05Speaker 2: has to be up against the wall, the back wall,
- 2:10Speaker 2: and yeah, so I'm like, I am not going to
- 2:13Speaker 2: force us to not pack anything just to do that.
- 2:19Speaker 3: And that's why last week, guys, there was a pre
- 2:21Speaker 3: recorded episode. And next week we will be releasing episode
- 2:26Speaker 3: two of our new Jedi order. Yes, book Club that
- 2:31Speaker 3: has been Patreon exclusive, and we're gonna be releasing an
- 2:34Speaker 3: episode of that for you guys next week.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Yes, we did release Victor Prime back in November. Now
- 2:42Speaker 2: it'll be onslaught on on next week on the twenty five. Yeah,
- 2:51Speaker 2: and then the next week, the first week of July,
- 2:56Speaker 2: we will be live again and we will be talking
- 3:01Speaker 2: about it'll be the start of our High Republic retro,
- 3:10Speaker 2: which we will be doing by reader grade, So we
- 3:17Speaker 2: will be doing the young readers, then the middle grade,
- 3:24Speaker 2: and then the adult novels one at a time, not
- 3:30Speaker 2: one at a time as far as like individual books,
- 3:33Speaker 2: but we will be reading the arcs and we will
- 3:36Speaker 2: be talking about how they are a coherent story without
- 3:41Speaker 2: reading anything else. It'll be interesting because I think we've
- 3:47Speaker 2: already talked about how.
- 3:51Speaker 4: By that third like it was still Phase one, but
- 3:58Speaker 4: it was Wave three.
- 4:00Speaker 2: Yeah, Wave three started to get a little convoluted, within
- 4:04Speaker 2: their own like.
- 4:07Speaker 4: Reading grade, so.
- 4:09Speaker 2: It'll be interesting to see how all of that comes together.
- 4:13Speaker 2: So the first week of July will start that and
- 4:17Speaker 2: then yeah, we have a whole bunch of stuff planned
- 4:24Speaker 2: for the rest of the year. I am also working
- 4:29Speaker 2: on solidifying more of our schedule, so that'll be fun
- 4:36Speaker 2: as well. But speaking of a topic for today is
- 4:41Speaker 2: going to be the Star Wars twenty twenty five run,
- 4:46Speaker 2: which is only ten issues long, and all ten issues
- 4:52Speaker 2: are collected in this volume one. Now, before we actually
- 4:58Speaker 2: go on to that topic, we do have some other
- 5:01Speaker 2: smaller topics. The last time we spoke live anyway, we
- 5:11Speaker 2: were talking about how there was going to be more
- 5:14Speaker 2: footage and more conversation around Zero Company. We finally got it.
- 5:21Speaker 4: We got a.
- 5:21Speaker 2: Whole bunch of stuff on Zero Company. But we also
- 5:28Speaker 2: got a reveal. There is a character model. It is
- 5:33Speaker 2: not yet confirmed if it will be a playable character,
- 5:38Speaker 2: whether in the story or like post story mode or whatever, but.
- 5:47Speaker 4: We have a character model for Anakin Skywalker the Clone Wars.
- 5:52Speaker 2: He was the very last frame of the of the
- 5:58Speaker 2: trailer during the games or sorry, not the Game Awards.
- 6:03Speaker 2: It was during Summer games Fest, and it was awesome.
- 6:12Speaker 2: This game looks so cool. There is so much customization
- 6:18Speaker 2: that you can do with every single character that joins
- 6:23Speaker 2: your team. And what this does is it legitimately puts
- 6:29Speaker 2: you in a point of getting attached to these characters.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Because the way that this developer has created their games
- 6:38Speaker 2: in the past, x com you can you know, get
- 6:43Speaker 2: attached to these characters and then they die.
- 6:47Speaker 4: And then you like you just lose that character.
- 6:51Speaker 2: It's not like, oh, they die for this round and
- 6:54Speaker 2: then you know the very next round they'll come back.
- 6:57Speaker 2: That's not how that works. Like, once they die, they
- 7:01Speaker 2: die for the rest of your game.
- 7:05Speaker 4: We've also seen uh.
- 7:08Speaker 2: One of like because it was really cool, Like if
- 7:10Speaker 2: you watch the trailer, and I think I'll have to
- 7:12Speaker 2: just send it to you. If you watch the trailer,
- 7:15Speaker 2: there's like a frame where like your team is like
- 7:18Speaker 2: running into battle. But they did a really cool montage
- 7:23Speaker 2: of like all the combinations of like different characters can
- 7:27Speaker 2: be in your team, as well as the customization customization
- 7:31Speaker 2: of like uh outfits and stuff. Yeah, Like they did
- 7:36Speaker 2: a really really cool like montage of them running in
- 7:40Speaker 2: all the characters changing all at once into multiple characters.
- 7:44Speaker 2: But the last frame of that montage is literally every
- 7:49Speaker 2: single one of your teammates can be droids.
- 7:54Speaker 3: Oh that it sounds like fun.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Yeah, so like you can you can make them all
- 8:01Speaker 2: our units. I think that is so cool. So I
- 8:07Speaker 2: am very, very, very excited about this game. This game
- 8:14Speaker 2: does have a release date. The release date for Zero Company.
- 8:23Speaker 2: Oh gosh, what was the release date for a zero Company?
- 8:26Speaker 2: And let me look at it real quick. I forgot
- 8:28Speaker 2: to write it down. Everything is releasing in September. Okay,
- 8:33Speaker 2: I say everything, I mean like everything video game wise
- 8:38Speaker 2: this year is releasing in September.
- 8:42Speaker 3: And it's okay because all the romanticy stuff releases in
- 8:46Speaker 3: September two.
- 8:47Speaker 2: So well, like the reason why that is is because,
- 8:53Speaker 2: and I know you're not a big gamer, but Grand
- 8:56Speaker 2: Theft Auto Grand Theft Auto six is like the big
- 9:00Speaker 2: that nobody wants to mess with.
- 9:02Speaker 4: It is like the.
- 9:05Speaker 2: Of like it's it's it's the Infinity War or the
- 9:09Speaker 2: end game of this year. Ye, nobody wants to compete
- 9:13Speaker 2: with it. So literally all of September is jam packed
- 9:17Speaker 2: with like thirty games.
- 9:20Speaker 4: It's kind of insane.
- 9:22Speaker 3: But because Grant that Auto have been delayed like seven
- 9:25Speaker 3: or eight times.
- 9:26Speaker 2: Yes, uh, it's been delayed quite a bit, but this
- 9:29Speaker 2: is like a solidified like, hey, we are going to
- 9:32Speaker 2: release on this date, which is November. But actually zero
- 9:40Speaker 2: Company actually has a release date of August twenty seventh,
- 9:43Speaker 2: so right before September, so in literally one month, no,
- 9:52Speaker 2: two months and a week, eight days, so a week
- 10:02Speaker 2: in eight.
- 10:02Speaker 3: Years, he said, eight days twenty What was the.
- 10:07Speaker 4: Date again, August twenty seventh, so seventh, two months.
- 10:13Speaker 3: I'll put that on our release calendar.
- 10:15Speaker 2: Yeah, two months, one week and one day, which is
- 10:22Speaker 2: gonna be super super fun.
- 10:24Speaker 4: I am probably.
- 10:27Speaker 2: Uh and I will have my entire setup yeah when
- 10:33Speaker 2: I move, but it'll be like more established. I'm gonna
- 10:38Speaker 2: try and stream a little bit more when I'm down
- 10:42Speaker 2: back in Texas.
- 10:44Speaker 3: That'd be fun because well.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Abby mentioned because I mentioned about how many games are
- 10:50Speaker 2: releasing in September and how many to buy in September,
- 10:54Speaker 2: and she's like, didn't you just tell me that you
- 10:56Speaker 2: had like a whole bunch.
- 10:57Speaker 4: Of games that you have yet to play or yet
- 11:00Speaker 4: to be I.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Was like, technically yes, And the thing is I bought
- 11:10Speaker 2: like almost ten years ago. Now I'm oh, my gosh,
- 11:15Speaker 2: Actually it's twenty twenty six not ten years, eight years.
- 11:30Speaker 2: I bought a giant steam like bundle.
- 11:37Speaker 4: Of Star Wars games.
- 11:39Speaker 2: Yeah, and those are games that I have not played
- 11:43Speaker 2: in almost twenty years. So I am going to be
- 11:47Speaker 2: playing a lot of those games, which I think would
- 11:49Speaker 2: be really fun to highlight some of that. And so
- 11:53Speaker 2: once I'm down there, I'll start promoting my Twitch channel
- 11:57Speaker 2: a little bit more and I have a little fun
- 11:59Speaker 2: with that. But yeah, the other news that we got
- 12:04Speaker 2: in gaming is a Fate of the Old Republic.
- 12:09Speaker 4: Not Knights of the Old Republic, but Fate of the
- 12:11Speaker 4: Old Republic.
- 12:12Speaker 2: Is the newer game that was announced that was like
- 12:14Speaker 2: the biggest bomb at the Game Awards last year.
- 12:19Speaker 4: We now have.
- 12:20Speaker 2: A narrative director who was the writer of Cyberpunk twenty
- 12:31Speaker 2: seventy SEVENNKY seven had a a little bit of a
- 12:36Speaker 2: rocky start when it was released as far as the
- 12:39Speaker 2: video game.
- 12:40Speaker 4: Goes, but I have heard very, very very good.
- 12:44Speaker 2: Things on the writing of that video game, So this
- 12:50Speaker 2: is something that people are really excited about. I have
- 12:53Speaker 2: no history with this writer, so for him to be
- 12:57Speaker 2: a narrative director is you know, pretty interesting. So we
- 13:01Speaker 2: will keep you guys updated, uh with all of the
- 13:06Speaker 2: fate of the old public updates, and I do apologize.
- 13:09Speaker 2: This room is super hot and I was not going
- 13:12Speaker 2: to turn off my AC so if you guys can
- 13:15Speaker 2: hear that, I apologize. That is all of the gaming
- 13:21Speaker 2: news that we have gotten in the last two weeks.
- 13:24Speaker 4: But Katie, I did send you a message about a
- 13:29Speaker 4: really nice looking book that is coming out fairly.
- 13:36Speaker 3: Yeah, so obviously we have feelings about special editions and
- 13:44Speaker 3: delecte editions, Clay more so than I do. But the
- 13:51Speaker 3: book in question, this is a little bit early for Ron,
- 13:59Speaker 3: but they Star Wars is choosing to celebrate Drown's tenure
- 14:03Speaker 3: anniversary slightly early with a stunning deluxe edition with complete
- 14:14Speaker 3: with slipcover and everything. Let me see if it'll let
- 14:20Speaker 3: me share this.
- 14:25Speaker 2: Share. I don't even know that there was a YouTube
- 14:28Speaker 2: video on it until I open the article.
- 14:32Speaker 3: So this is the slip cover that is going to
- 14:36Speaker 3: go alongside it, and then you can kind of see here,
- 14:43Speaker 3: Oh I'm that is loud. Okay, now it's sharing my
- 14:47Speaker 3: screen play, so you can see the sprayed edges with
- 14:56Speaker 3: the Imperial logo, the little slip cover with the chest
- 14:59Speaker 3: ascendency on the end, and like how he's cut out
- 15:03Speaker 3: with a star destroyer. It's so pretty in the back. Oh,
- 15:12Speaker 3: it's so nice looking. Oh this even got in papers.
- 15:18Speaker 3: I love in papers. Anyways, that's it.
- 15:28Speaker 2: But yeah, this releases in October with a price tag
- 15:34Speaker 2: of fifty dollars.
- 15:38Speaker 3: It's fifty bucks.
- 15:40Speaker 4: Yes, it says right here. At a steep price of
- 15:44Speaker 4: fifty dollars.
- 15:44Speaker 2: Deluxe edition of Thron appears to be more of a
- 15:48Speaker 2: collector's so they're they're kind of comparing it to Revenge
- 15:55Speaker 2: of the Sith, the deluxe edition from the past year.
- 16:01Speaker 3: Yeah, but like they didn't. There's no notations or anything
- 16:07Speaker 3: in there.
- 16:08Speaker 4: Yeah, it's literally just a deluxe edition.
- 16:13Speaker 3: I could see like forty bucks fifty in this economy.
- 16:19Speaker 4: Yeah, I love you.
- 16:20Speaker 3: It's I love your random house worlds. That's not an
- 16:27Speaker 3: automatic purchase for me as much as I love Thron.
- 16:33Speaker 2: Now, I will have to double check because I wasn't
- 16:36Speaker 2: opening it. But when I was showing you my signed
- 16:41Speaker 2: copies of my Tron Tron, my Throng trilogy, remember one
- 16:51Speaker 2: of like the very first pages of.
- 16:54Speaker 4: One of the books was falling out.
- 16:57Speaker 2: Yeah, if it was Thron, if it was the first book,
- 17:03Speaker 2: I could see myself saying I need to replace it anyway,
- 17:08Speaker 2: you know.
- 17:09Speaker 3: Yeah, but that's nothing a little glue can't fix.
- 17:12Speaker 2: True, true, and honest, honestly, with the amount of times
- 17:19Speaker 2: that I will most likely not be going back to
- 17:23Speaker 2: that book to constantly be opening and reading it, I
- 17:27Speaker 2: could honestly just go to a random bookstore and grab
- 17:29Speaker 2: another copy.
- 17:31Speaker 3: Yeah. So I love the sprayed edges. It's a gorgeous
- 17:35Speaker 3: looking book.
- 17:37Speaker 4: But again they're.
- 17:38Speaker 2: They're saying they're saying it in the article like this
- 17:41Speaker 2: is more of like a hey, this is to be
- 17:45Speaker 2: on your shelf for decoration. Yeah, you know, and I
- 17:52Speaker 2: applaud everybody who does do like I I've seen people on.
- 17:58Speaker 4: On uh Instagram and on TikTok that like have an.
- 18:02Speaker 2: Entire backdrop of their bookshelf and it's all sprayed.
- 18:08Speaker 3: Edges, which is totally fine. But also a lot of
- 18:12Speaker 3: those sprayed edges right now, like they're vary from like
- 18:17Speaker 3: twenty to thirty bucks because Amazon and other places tend
- 18:22Speaker 3: to have the special edition on sale. That's why I
- 18:25Speaker 3: have so many sprayed edges is because I'm like, Okay,
- 18:28Speaker 3: I don't really care about like a book like that much.
- 18:35Speaker 3: I just want a copy of it.
- 18:37Speaker 4: Yeah, and I don't.
- 18:38Speaker 3: Need a special edition. But the regular edition is thirty
- 18:42Speaker 3: two dollars in the special edition like I got, I
- 18:45Speaker 3: got right to the startlingk the deluxe edition for eighteen dollars,
- 18:50Speaker 3: like I wonder.
- 18:52Speaker 2: So here's here's the thing, though, is this gonna be
- 18:55Speaker 2: a book that you could see going on sale very
- 19:01Speaker 2: very soon after because of the fact that in this
- 19:07Speaker 2: economy it may not fly off the shelf, you know.
- 19:12Speaker 3: No, because it's probably very limited copies, and so they
- 19:18Speaker 3: will probably at least I would say, hold the price
- 19:21Speaker 3: until after the holidays, just because of that. Yeah, I like,
- 19:30Speaker 3: because people might go, like I have plenty of people
- 19:33Speaker 3: in my life who have bought me a random Star
- 19:35Speaker 3: Wars book that was a special edition because they know
- 19:41Speaker 3: that I'm not typically a special edition person, but they
- 19:43Speaker 3: think that I would appreciate it. Yeah, and I'm not
- 19:46Speaker 3: saying I don't, but that's just not something that I
- 19:49Speaker 3: typically gravitate towards unless I'm like super in love with
- 19:52Speaker 3: the book. Now, my one problem is that I have
- 19:56Speaker 3: issues in all my books have to match in a series.
- 20:00Speaker 2: Yeah, So now it's it's a little bit of OCD
- 20:06Speaker 2: for a lot of people who do collect books.
- 20:08Speaker 4: So it's that joke of.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Yeah, like my Shield one, you know, yeah, you gotta
- 20:15Speaker 2: buy it a fread, you know.
- 20:17Speaker 3: Yeah, you know. But yeah, because like Rights of Starling
- 20:21Speaker 3: is book two, they didn't make a standard edition. They
- 20:25Speaker 3: only made the sprayed edges. Yeah, and so I bought
- 20:29Speaker 3: Shield of Sparrows because I fell in love with Rates
- 20:32Speaker 3: and Starling. So I was like, okay, I need Rates
- 20:34Speaker 3: in Starling, but then I also need book one. Book
- 20:37Speaker 3: one only came with plane edges, so it's like shame, shame.
- 20:44Speaker 2: Oh, I'm sure as soon as the anniversary comes up,
- 20:46Speaker 2: they'll they'll throw out a spray Edges one for sure.
- 20:52Speaker 4: Now our final small.
- 20:54Speaker 3: Topic, well, hang on because I did find I was
- 20:58Speaker 3: looking at the Utenei release schedule and there's another paper
- 21:04Speaker 3: Cuts graphic novel being released and it's actually coming out
- 21:09Speaker 3: July twenty first six, and it's by Delilah S. Dawson,
- 21:16Speaker 3: who we love as an author. But this is actually
- 21:20Speaker 3: a Mandalarian and Grogu prequel graphic novel where the Anzellins,
- 21:28Speaker 3: Mando and Grogu have to join together to stop a
- 21:36Speaker 3: hidden danger that looms deep beneath the surface of Navarro
- 21:43Speaker 3: says Denjarn and his foundly venture into the lava tubes
- 21:47Speaker 3: underneath the city to diffuse a crashed pirate ship, facing
- 21:50Speaker 3: creepy creatures and periless obstacles along the way, but with
- 21:54Speaker 3: the planet safety on the line, can Grogust learn to
- 21:57Speaker 3: listen to Mando's guidance and can man do balance teaching
- 22:01Speaker 3: Grogu with letting the little guys lead? So it looks
- 22:05Speaker 3: like art is by Mario del Panino and Ariana Fluorine.
- 22:15Speaker 4: This looks to be now. Uh it does say.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Issue one, but these are usually graphic novels, so it's
- 22:29Speaker 2: probably only going to be one.
- 22:32Speaker 3: Yeah, it says graphic novel.
- 22:33Speaker 2: So but the really cool thing about paper Cuts, which
- 22:40Speaker 2: is kind of why I love them so much because
- 22:42Speaker 2: they're graphic novels, they're also doing alternate covers. So I
- 22:50Speaker 2: will actually share my screen here and show you guys.
- 23:08Speaker 2: This is cover a by Brent's shoon Over.
- 23:17Speaker 4: Let's just.
- 23:20Speaker 3: That's a six ninety nine, which makes me think it
- 23:22Speaker 3: is a singular issue.
- 23:25Speaker 2: Uh, they may have changed their format, but this is
- 23:32Speaker 2: coming from the paper Cuts website because this isn't Yeah,
- 23:40Speaker 2: it's original one shot comic. Okay, so it is. It
- 23:44Speaker 2: is a small forty page. So so you have Brent Schooner,
- 23:52Speaker 2: then you have Ariana Florine on cover B. Then you
- 23:57Speaker 2: have Raymond russ Onas on cover C, which I think
- 24:05Speaker 2: this is my favorite one, and then you have cover D.
- 24:09Speaker 4: Juni Bah.
- 24:12Speaker 2: Is more of like an action cover with yeah lava
- 24:16Speaker 2: and them swinging over it. I think Cover C is
- 24:20Speaker 2: my favorite. It looks very cartoonish, very silly.
- 24:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:26Speaker 4: But yeah, I I love paper Cuts. I've gushed about
- 24:29Speaker 4: them before.
- 24:29Speaker 2: I've worked with them several times in my previous job.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Really great company and I will always shout them out
- 24:41Speaker 2: when I can. But yeah, oven that they're doing more
- 24:44Speaker 2: Star Wars content. Yeah.
- 24:47Speaker 3: So the other piece is that Hyperspace Stories Mace has
- 24:52Speaker 3: gotten a release date. Oh and this is as a reminder.
- 24:58Speaker 3: This is by just you Know Ireland. The art is
- 25:01Speaker 3: by Jorge Duarte. I want to say, and this is
- 25:10Speaker 3: available on Amazon, but uh, this is a trade paperback.
- 25:15Speaker 3: This was a big announcement in like I think twenty
- 25:17Speaker 3: twenty two that dark Horse was going to start doing
- 25:20Speaker 3: this and then they all proceeded to get delayed. So
- 25:27Speaker 3: this is Justina Ireland's last Star Wars work that is
- 25:32Speaker 3: in the work. She said that she was done with
- 25:35Speaker 3: Star Wars after this. We don't know if that like, hey,
- 25:37Speaker 3: we're taking a break from Star Wars or just done
- 25:39Speaker 3: done in general. So definitely will be a pickup for
- 25:46Speaker 3: me because I'm excited to see her get to write
- 25:49Speaker 3: Mace Findu.
- 25:51Speaker 2: Yeah, and we've we enjoyed the other two Hyperspace stories
- 25:57Speaker 2: with being Grievous and Quai gon In. They were relatively
- 26:02Speaker 2: they were just there was there was there was small
- 26:04Speaker 2: little grapes that we had, but you know, they were still,
- 26:10Speaker 2: like you said, decently written and and uh and created.
- 26:14Speaker 4: So looking forward to it. Anything else on the book side.
- 26:19Speaker 3: Of things, Nope, that's it. So all we got left
- 26:22Speaker 3: to talk about is box office.
- 26:24Speaker 4: Box office for the Mandalorian in Grogu.
- 26:28Speaker 2: Now, Katie, we had a conversation the last time we
- 26:31Speaker 2: spoke on this on if this movie was.
- 26:35Speaker 4: Going to hit five hundred million.
- 26:38Speaker 3: We said, it's not going to hit five hundred.
- 26:41Speaker 4: We both agreed on that. We said it wasn't going
- 26:44Speaker 4: to hit five hundred.
- 26:47Speaker 3: You said it wasn't going to hit three hundred.
- 26:50Speaker 2: It hit three hundred, It hit three hundred. It's not
- 26:54Speaker 2: hitting four. I don't know if it's going to hit
- 26:58Speaker 2: for It is currently at three hundred and sixteen million,
- 27:03Speaker 2: six hundred and forty four thousand, fifty eight dollars on
- 27:07Speaker 2: its twenty technically twenty seventh day.
- 27:18Speaker 3: Yeah, it's still top. Like it just fell out of
- 27:23Speaker 3: the top five at the box office. In this past week.
- 27:28Speaker 3: It didn't experience as drastic of drop. It It was
- 27:32Speaker 3: like holding a little more steady because I think so
- 27:35Speaker 3: week two at the box office it dropped seventy percent,
- 27:39Speaker 3: Week three it dropped fifty percent, So not as I
- 27:42Speaker 3: have a drop, not as bad. Yeah, Internationally, we've got
- 27:48Speaker 3: one hundred and fifty thousand dollars or one hundred and
- 27:51Speaker 3: fifty million dollars, excuse me. And then domestically we've got
- 27:56Speaker 3: one hundred and sixty six Sorry, that's that's my mother's dog.
- 28:00Speaker 3: I don't know if you.
- 28:01Speaker 4: Hear him that. It's hilarious.
- 28:05Speaker 3: He likes to get light outside and then everybody he
- 28:09Speaker 3: he thinks everybody left him. Anyways, domestic we have one
- 28:12Speaker 3: hundred and sixty six point six million dollars. I can
- 28:18Speaker 3: see through fifty. I don't see four hundred at this point.
- 28:22Speaker 2: I don't see four hundred either and the reason being
- 28:25Speaker 2: is tomorrow you have the start of Toy Story.
- 28:34Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, you have Toy Stories start tomorrow, then you.
- 28:37Speaker 4: Have superl is Supergirl.
- 28:40Speaker 3: And then after that is Odyssey.
- 28:43Speaker 2: You have Odyssey and then next month, guys, I don't
- 28:48Speaker 2: know if you knew this, Katie.
- 28:51Speaker 4: Spider Man Spider Man spider Man.
- 28:54Speaker 2: Trailer dropped with the uh ticket sales being open mm hmm.
- 29:00Speaker 2: I in good favor of Star Wars Alliance cannot go
- 29:07Speaker 2: to the Wednesday showing because we record on Wednesdays and
- 29:11Speaker 2: the Wednesday showing is at seven pm, so could not
- 29:17Speaker 2: could not go there. All of the Wednesday and all
- 29:25Speaker 2: of the Thursday showings are all sold out.
- 29:30Speaker 3: Oh yeah, we knew, We knew Spider Man was gonna
- 29:33Speaker 3: was gonna show.
- 29:34Speaker 2: So I think Mandalorian Grogu probably should kind of and
- 29:43Speaker 2: it I know it's not going to be, but realistically
- 29:47Speaker 2: probably should be out of the conversation by this week
- 29:50Speaker 2: with with Toy Story because then it's just so many
- 29:55Speaker 2: big movies at the end of the summer that it
- 30:00Speaker 2: that's coming out.
- 30:01Speaker 3: Let's see in my area, there's one theater in my
- 30:05Speaker 3: in my new area. Guys, let's see the Thursday, if
- 30:12Speaker 3: I were to go see it at nine thirty is
- 30:19Speaker 3: still no, it's not sold out at all whatsoever. There's
- 30:24Speaker 3: like three there's three seats taken in the nine thirty
- 30:27Speaker 3: see seven.
- 30:29Speaker 4: I say sold out.
- 30:31Speaker 2: All of the like first showings of the day are
- 30:33Speaker 2: sold out because of course, everybody wants to be the
- 30:37Speaker 2: first one to watch it, because nobody wants to be spoiled.
- 30:42Speaker 2: And that's usually how I go about things, as I
- 30:46Speaker 2: try to go to the very first showing of whatever
- 30:51Speaker 2: it is, with the current situation of me moving and
- 30:57Speaker 2: everything else, I was like, hey, we're gonna be spending
- 31:01Speaker 2: a crep ton of money on gas all the way
- 31:06Speaker 2: to Texas.
- 31:08Speaker 4: So I'm like, hey, I'm just gonna wait until the
- 31:12Speaker 4: day and if or or even like maybe in like
- 31:17Speaker 4: two weeks.
- 31:18Speaker 2: If I just buy like the last showing of the
- 31:22Speaker 2: first day, yeah, I think I'll be fine.
- 31:27Speaker 4: But yeah, yeah, uh.
- 31:28Speaker 2: Mandalorian Grogu had a good run.
- 31:34Speaker 4: With it.
- 31:35Speaker 2: Possibly, you know, Katie just said three point fifty. I'm
- 31:41Speaker 2: gonna say, with it only making eight hundred and sixty
- 31:49Speaker 2: five thousand dollars yesterday, you.
- 31:54Speaker 3: Gotta say three twenty five.
- 31:59Speaker 4: I'm gonna say three twenty five possible. What is the
- 32:07Speaker 4: usual theater run for these movies.
- 32:11Speaker 3: Nowadays forty five to sixty days.
- 32:15Speaker 4: Forty five to sixty days. Ooh, so it might, it might,
- 32:18Speaker 4: Actually it might.
- 32:20Speaker 3: I can see three fifty.
- 32:22Speaker 2: So if that's the case, let's say that eight sixty
- 32:27Speaker 2: five eighty five, eight sixty five eighty five is the
- 32:34Speaker 2: new normal for the remaining twenty days, because it's on
- 32:40Speaker 2: day twenty seven now, so forty five days. Let's say
- 32:42Speaker 2: that that's an additional seventeen million, and it is currently
- 32:51Speaker 2: three hundred and sixteen million. Ooh, that's three hundred and
- 32:59Speaker 2: thirty three million. Yeah, So it has to stay consistent
- 33:06Speaker 2: mm hmm with eight hundred and sixty five thousand dollars
- 33:10Speaker 2: a day for the next twenty days to get past
- 33:15Speaker 2: three hundred and thirty.
- 33:17Speaker 3: But remember, your weekends are going to be higher. We
- 33:20Speaker 3: we thks are.
- 33:20Speaker 2: Going to be a little higher. So technically, looking at
- 33:23Speaker 2: the weekend on Saturday and Sunday, it made uh more
- 33:30Speaker 2: than one point five million, yeah, and both on both
- 33:41Speaker 2: Saturday and Sunday, so you have you still have those
- 33:44Speaker 2: those those little spikes, So it's.
- 33:47Speaker 4: Possible it's totally possible to get three fifty.
- 33:50Speaker 3: Yeah, And I think some of the things that people
- 33:53Speaker 3: aren't necessarily bringing into consideration with this movie is the
- 34:00Speaker 3: merchandise sale. You paid how much to manufacture merchandise, and
- 34:04Speaker 3: you're gonna profit roughly three hundred percent probably off the merchandise.
- 34:10Speaker 3: So box office is one thing, your merchandise is another. Yeah,
- 34:18Speaker 3: I think it's gonna be fine. They might over knowing Disney,
- 34:22Speaker 3: they'll still probably overreact, but you know.
- 34:27Speaker 2: We'll see, we'll see, all right. Well, that takes us
- 34:33Speaker 2: to our main topic today being Star Wars Volume one.
- 34:38Speaker 2: This is the twenty twenty five series, issues one through ten, Katie,
- 34:45Speaker 2: and this.
- 34:46Speaker 3: Was written by Alex Sigura, who wrote the Battle of
- 34:51Speaker 3: Jack Who Yes Volume, So a lot of the characters
- 34:56Speaker 3: and everything in here. This is kind of like Battle
- 34:59Speaker 3: of Jack Who Volume but they didn't want to call
- 35:01Speaker 3: it that. So your artists philm Noto does one through
- 35:07Speaker 3: six in the free Comic Book Day issue, Pete Woods
- 35:11Speaker 3: does seven and eight, Ramon Rosanas does issue nine, and
- 35:17Speaker 3: Luke Ross does issue ten. Your color artists are film
- 35:22Speaker 3: Noo for the previously stated comics, Pete Woods for seven
- 35:26Speaker 3: and eight, and Chris Soto mayor for nine and ten.
- 35:31Speaker 3: Your letter is VC's Clayton Cowell's cover art is film Noo,
- 35:36Speaker 3: and the assistant editors Mikey J. Basso and Drew Baumgartner.
- 35:41Speaker 3: Editor is Mark Panacea or Panccia. I will say the
- 35:48Speaker 3: art for issue seven and eight. I very much disliked.
- 35:55Speaker 4: It was so jarring.
- 35:58Speaker 2: It was it was so because I was I was
- 36:01Speaker 2: on the app reading this, so I'm just reading one.
- 36:05Speaker 4: Through six, Okay, okay.
- 36:07Speaker 2: The moment I opened seven, I had Now let me
- 36:14Speaker 2: go ahead and say before I say this comment seven
- 36:17Speaker 2: and eight. If the book started with that art, yes,
- 36:24Speaker 2: it would have been great. Going from issue six to
- 36:29Speaker 2: issue seven, I had the most disgusted look on my face.
- 36:34Speaker 3: Because I mean, the dang screen, it's this, It's Luke
- 36:39Speaker 3: Skywalker with purple eyes.
- 36:41Speaker 4: I will bring it up.
- 36:42Speaker 2: I will bring it up because I will bring it
- 36:45Speaker 2: up on my Marble and limited issue number seven.
- 36:51Speaker 4: Let's see here, Where are we at? Where are we at?
- 36:55Speaker 3: It's still And also like some of the art with Leah,
- 37:01Speaker 3: I get that Leah has all these different hair styles.
- 37:05Speaker 2: When when they opened up her in the blue dress
- 37:09Speaker 2: with her wedding hair, yeah, I said no. I said,
- 37:14Speaker 2: nahuh no, you can't. You can't discontinue continuity like that.
- 37:19Speaker 2: The continuity of the entire series had her in her
- 37:24Speaker 2: her top ponytail hair.
- 37:26Speaker 4: Yeah, and.
- 37:29Speaker 2: I very much disliked it. I said, nahuh mm hmmm, So.
- 37:43Speaker 3: It was it was super strange.
- 37:45Speaker 4: And this photo right here.
- 37:47Speaker 3: Yeah, purple eye Luke Skywalker mm hmm. And it's purple
- 37:53Speaker 3: there right, It's not just like the way mine was printed.
- 37:57Speaker 2: It's I can see like a hint of blue that's purple.
- 38:05Speaker 2: But yeah, no, it looks very purple. And I think
- 38:08Speaker 2: it's because of the way he wanted to do the lighting.
- 38:13Speaker 2: But there's also issue number.
- 38:21Speaker 4: Is it eight.
- 38:23Speaker 3: I'm also very attached to Philonoo as an artist. I
- 38:27Speaker 3: think he did an incredible job. He does an incredible
- 38:31Speaker 3: job with the covers, and so getting to see him
- 38:34Speaker 3: do the actual art on the page was really really
- 38:38Speaker 3: I loved it.
- 38:39Speaker 4: I really really enjoyed it. That was like, okay, so
- 38:47Speaker 4: this is the moment where I bashed the book.
- 38:49Speaker 2: I'm sorry this there's a reason. Okay, hold on, let
- 38:59Speaker 2: me let me grab all my thoughts because this is
- 39:03Speaker 2: more going to be a stab at Marvel, not at
- 39:09Speaker 2: Star Wars Marvel, And this is happening across multiple comics
- 39:16Speaker 2: right now. It's not just Star Wars.
- 39:20Speaker 4: Marvel. If you.
- 39:24Speaker 2: Want a book to be out in an ongoing series,
- 39:33Speaker 2: you need to release an ongoing series. You cannot decide
- 39:40Speaker 2: on issue seven. Oh, well, this is a penny short
- 39:46Speaker 2: of making my Giant Bank account even richer. So I'm
- 39:50Speaker 2: gonna go ahead and cancel it. That is bullshit.
- 39:55Speaker 4: Sorry, it is.
- 39:57Speaker 2: You can definitely tell at issue seven. Oh they are
- 40:08Speaker 2: now instantly rushing this entire story.
- 40:13Speaker 3: Yeah, it's very clear that this was set up for
- 40:19Speaker 3: the long term, and I love what Alex Sigora was
- 40:22Speaker 3: able to write in this and try to make it work.
- 40:25Speaker 3: I think issues one through six are phenomenal and a
- 40:29Speaker 3: really good set up point for an ongoing series. The
- 40:35Speaker 3: minute this was cut, you can tell. And it's like,
- 40:40Speaker 3: immediately tell it, because remember when this was announced, we
- 40:44Speaker 3: were like, Okay, ongoing series, cool, Alex Sigora is taking
- 40:48Speaker 3: over the ongoing series for Star Wars, like because that's
- 40:52Speaker 3: just what it's called and stuff.
- 40:55Speaker 2: But like I said, this is also happening with other stories.
- 40:59Speaker 2: They announced a new ongoing x men A couple months ago,
- 41:05Speaker 2: almost a year ago now that is also ending at
- 41:09Speaker 2: issue ten yeap. These publishers, and I saw somebody, and
- 41:19Speaker 2: this is more so on the back end of stuff.
- 41:24Speaker 2: I follow a lot of my fellow comic book individuals,
- 41:31Speaker 2: a lot of the higher publishers, the CEOs, all of
- 41:36Speaker 2: the big wigs in the industry. And I'm not saying
- 41:40Speaker 2: that to be like ahaha, It's just the way my
- 41:43Speaker 2: job was back in the day, and of course what
- 41:45Speaker 2: I'm trying.
- 41:46Speaker 4: To do with volume comics.
- 41:47Speaker 2: So I'm in the conversation with everybody, and I saw
- 41:53Speaker 2: somebody say like, oh, you know, it's very unfortunate, but
- 41:58Speaker 2: the way that comic books are created is essentially these
- 42:06Speaker 2: publishers are gambling. They are needing to make these very
- 42:12Speaker 2: quick decision aka bets on series and they either come
- 42:20Speaker 2: out very well or they don't. And it's not all cutting,
- 42:24Speaker 2: you know, cut and dry. And I understand that to
- 42:29Speaker 2: a point. If you are going to be a publisher
- 42:35Speaker 2: and willing to say hey, especially as big as Marvel,
- 42:40Speaker 2: because Marvel, yeah sorry, you have literally no excuse as
- 42:44Speaker 2: far as the money goes.
- 42:46Speaker 3: No, And it, like like you said, it boils down
- 42:50Speaker 3: to like the money, but also like today's culture, like
- 42:55Speaker 3: everyone and everybody that doesn't make sense. Everyone and everything
- 43:00Speaker 3: is trying to go viral right now to catch the
- 43:03Speaker 3: next big thing, and so people are like, if you
- 43:06Speaker 3: can't catch attention in the first ten seconds of a read,
- 43:11Speaker 3: you're pointless. I should have never published you. Basically is
- 43:14Speaker 3: what it boils down to from the executive side of things.
- 43:18Speaker 3: And it's dumb because people people need time to get
- 43:23Speaker 3: into things. People need to be able to read, people
- 43:27Speaker 3: need to be able to watch and say, you know what,
- 43:29Speaker 3: I want more of this, and so we get the
- 43:32Speaker 3: second season, we get more issues of the comic and
- 43:35Speaker 3: that's just people are dumb nowadays.
- 43:37Speaker 2: But in a very serious conversation also, especially with the
- 43:43Speaker 2: last two years and for right now continuously because we
- 43:50Speaker 2: don't know when this is going to end, there is
- 43:54Speaker 2: a very serious conversation with hey, people are needing to
- 44:01Speaker 2: choose wisely on am I going to pick up the
- 44:05Speaker 2: next Star Wars issue or I'm am I going to
- 44:09Speaker 2: buy food for the week? M and comic book publishers
- 44:15Speaker 2: need to not be brain dead on this conversation. It's
- 44:22Speaker 2: for one, canceling a book means that you're canceling a
- 44:26Speaker 2: contract with a writer, you are now taking that writer
- 44:29Speaker 2: off of a job in a economy that is very hurting.
- 44:35Speaker 2: And these writers were already struggling before this economy was
- 44:40Speaker 2: starting to get to where it is today, and now
- 44:43Speaker 2: you're kicking them off of books.
- 44:45Speaker 4: Not a great book, not a.
- 44:47Speaker 2: Great you know, a business yeah, style for these publishers.
- 44:55Speaker 3: And I think like, especially as somebody who prefers the
- 44:59Speaker 3: graphic novel, I think that's also something that comic publishers
- 45:04Speaker 3: should take into consideration, is there's a lot less people nowadays.
- 45:08Speaker 3: I feel like, who what the single issue comic on
- 45:11Speaker 3: their shelves? Like, yes, it's great, but you know, you know,
- 45:17Speaker 3: Mike Toddler can tear into this book and this is
- 45:20Speaker 3: a lot harder than a single issue.
- 45:22Speaker 2: But that conversation is an entirely different conversation. It's something
- 45:28Speaker 2: that the publishers will definitely need a little bit more
- 45:33Speaker 2: time with, which is stupid, I understand. Like, for instance,
- 45:45Speaker 2: Marvel and DC. I think Marvel is very new to
- 45:49Speaker 2: it right now, whereas DZ has been doing it for
- 45:52Speaker 2: the past three years. The compact comics is something that
- 45:57Speaker 2: Marvel or sorry that DC has been doing for quite
- 46:00Speaker 2: some time, Like I said, three years, Compact Comics, they
- 46:04Speaker 2: are essentially trying to do what the Asian countries are
- 46:13Speaker 2: doing for manga. So weekly shown in jump issues. So
- 46:21Speaker 2: let's take a very famous manga. Let's say.
- 46:29Speaker 3: My hero Academia.
- 46:30Speaker 2: My hero Academia. Okay, that is already over, but it
- 46:36Speaker 2: was being published in a magazine.
- 46:39Speaker 4: That is weekly.
- 46:40Speaker 2: So there was a new issue of My hero Academia
- 46:44Speaker 2: every week, whereas in comics Star Wars would be coming
- 46:49Speaker 2: out every month. Okay, yeah, so there's a difference there. Again,
- 46:54Speaker 2: manga is in black and white American comics and color.
- 46:58Speaker 4: There's a whole process to it.
- 47:00Speaker 2: But the weekly Shun and Jump comes out every week,
- 47:05Speaker 2: and then they would put their volumes in a small
- 47:12Speaker 2: compacted book that is very very cheap. DC finally started
- 47:20Speaker 2: copying this mentality and started calling them Compact Comics.
- 47:26Speaker 4: And what they did is they got.
- 47:27Speaker 2: Their top fifty graphic novels, okay, and they started to
- 47:35Speaker 2: collect them in small compacted Yeah, graphic novels. It's cheaper paper,
- 47:43Speaker 2: so that way they are able to make the price
- 47:48Speaker 2: tag smaller. So normal graphic novels can be anywhere between
- 47:53Speaker 2: fifteen ninety nine to as high as thirty dollars, depending
- 47:57Speaker 2: on the card stock, depending on the hardcover.
- 48:00Speaker 4: All of that stuff.
- 48:01Speaker 2: Right, Compact comics are ten dollars, it's nine ninety nine.
- 48:09Speaker 2: And it's because they noticed, Hey, a lot of people
- 48:14Speaker 2: are already just waiting for the volume, So why don't
- 48:18Speaker 2: we create something that they're already looking for, a cheap
- 48:23Speaker 2: way to just carry around these books and read them
- 48:26Speaker 2: on the go and everything else. They need to hurry
- 48:32Speaker 2: up and get to a point where they're doing this
- 48:40Speaker 2: for modern stuff that's coming out right yep.
- 48:45Speaker 4: And I think what they need to do is maybe just.
- 48:54Speaker 2: I keep I'm so used to the camera being right here.
- 48:58Speaker 2: I keep looking right here at the camera. The camera
- 48:59Speaker 2: is now over here. Marvel, DC, all of the publishers
- 49:04Speaker 2: that are currently out there in America. I don't care
- 49:08Speaker 2: if you're copying their homework. Start making your comics in
- 49:13Speaker 2: black and white, make your ink and color versions.
- 49:23Speaker 4: As a premium.
- 49:26Speaker 2: To make it the same price as you always do.
- 49:28Speaker 2: You can then shorten the or you can shrink the
- 49:31Speaker 2: price of the black and white, and then you can
- 49:37Speaker 2: come out with the modern compact stuff quicker.
- 49:43Speaker 3: Yep.
- 49:45Speaker 2: You can actually, because I can almost guarantee. I'm not
- 49:49Speaker 2: gonna say guarantee. Looking at Star Wars twenty twenty five,
- 49:57Speaker 2: I am almost willing to say that two things happened.
- 50:02Speaker 2: One cells were not as great as they thought that
- 50:07Speaker 2: they were going to be. Again, economy is shit, So
- 50:12Speaker 2: I'm sorry.
- 50:14Speaker 3: And you put off telling you put off telling a
- 50:17Speaker 3: past return of the Jedi's story for way too long.
- 50:20Speaker 3: You're trying to fill in all these gaps. People are
- 50:22Speaker 3: now like, oh, well, they're telling the same boring story
- 50:24Speaker 3: all over again. Yes, fresh stories for one, Yes, and
- 50:31Speaker 3: then two film note was in some big wig suits
- 50:40Speaker 3: opinion taking too long m hm, and decided to hire
- 50:47Speaker 3: all these other multiple artists, which I hate. I hate
- 50:53Speaker 3: reading a book, or specifically a comic book knowing that
- 50:57Speaker 3: it's one volume, but every like every issue or close
- 51:02Speaker 3: to every issue is somebody different. Because that was the
- 51:06Speaker 3: confusing thing. Right when we put first put this on
- 51:09Speaker 3: the schedule, you were like, okay, so this is one
- 51:11Speaker 3: through five, and I was like, according to Amazon, it's
- 51:15Speaker 3: one through ten, and we were like, uh what yeah,
- 51:19Speaker 3: like and you can tell how much time and like
- 51:24Speaker 3: the filtering that Phil Noa was able to do with
- 51:28Speaker 3: the artwork on his pages versus some of the other ones,
- 51:34Speaker 3: like like look at you can't look at the vibrancy
- 51:38Speaker 3: on this because of stupid background. But like this, this
- 51:43Speaker 3: is one of the early issues, and it's like one
- 51:48Speaker 3: of the flashbacks for Han and Lando with uh garev
- 51:55Speaker 3: yes and the lengths in the bar and you've got purples,
- 52:00Speaker 3: got oranges, you've got black, white, blue, pink. Like it's
- 52:05Speaker 3: so vibrant and detailed. Yep, that that one exactly. And
- 52:11Speaker 3: then you look at something like this, which is I
- 52:15Speaker 3: believe issue number eight, and it's with Bassion and she's
- 52:19Speaker 3: interrogating one of the assassins for like, hey, where is
- 52:26Speaker 3: this guy? What's your real name? Like trying to figure
- 52:29Speaker 3: out what the heck is going on. It's all purple.
- 52:31Speaker 3: There's no reason it needed to be all purple in this,
- 52:35Speaker 3: Like the drawing is sharp, but you can see that
- 52:38Speaker 3: there's just a difference in like how they were drawing
- 52:43Speaker 3: in this and changing it up harsher lines. It just
- 52:48Speaker 3: doesn't make any sense. It's very abrupt. It's issue number
- 52:51Speaker 3: seven actually, but yeah, it's just it's very different. And
- 53:01Speaker 3: I think the writing is the best thing in this
- 53:04Speaker 3: book by far. I love film Noto as an artist,
- 53:08Speaker 3: and I think I think Pete Woods, again, if it
- 53:15Speaker 3: had been where he had his own volume, or if
- 53:19Speaker 3: this was a different comic, I don't think I would
- 53:21Speaker 3: have had as big a problem with his art. But
- 53:25Speaker 3: the fact in the matter is is that you put
- 53:29Speaker 3: it next to film Noto and it's very different and
- 53:34Speaker 3: it's jarring and it's absurd. I also, so I don't
- 53:44Speaker 3: I don't hate Pete Wood's art, I hate where it's
- 53:46Speaker 3: at in this book. Basically.
- 53:49Speaker 4: Yeah. So who was the artist for issue number nine?
- 53:58Speaker 3: Ramon Rostanas, Okay, I just want.
- 54:05Speaker 2: To say this I think was one of the most
- 54:09Speaker 2: jarring again because you're changing from not only from five
- 54:16Speaker 2: to seven or six to seven, but then you change
- 54:20Speaker 2: from eight to nine as well.
- 54:25Speaker 4: Yeah, and so you get used to one artist.
- 54:29Speaker 3: And they impolitely turn into.
- 54:32Speaker 2: This and I'm just like, why why are you doing
- 54:37Speaker 2: this to me? Why is it so different? It doesn't
- 54:45Speaker 2: need to be that jarring, It doesn't need to be
- 54:49Speaker 2: that different. And again the reason being is they're like, hey,
- 54:56Speaker 2: this isn't a this isn't a good story because people
- 54:58Speaker 2: aren't buying it. Let's just rush the art Hey, get
- 55:00Speaker 2: somebody else on it while this person is completing issues
- 55:05Speaker 2: seven and eight, will hire this person to.
- 55:06Speaker 4: Do nine and ten. Yeah, and it's just like, guys.
- 55:12Speaker 3: Because somebody else did the art or issue ten. Luke
- 55:18Speaker 3: Ross did ten, and then they brought in so Phil
- 55:21Speaker 3: Noo and Pete Woods colored their own stuff, and then
- 55:24Speaker 3: Chris Sotomayor colored Ramon Rosanas issued number nine, and then
- 55:29Speaker 3: Luke Ross is issue in number ten.
- 55:32Speaker 4: Yeah. Like, there's just so many moving parts that just
- 55:38Speaker 4: make it a little.
- 55:39Speaker 2: Bit of a excuse my language, a little bit of
- 55:41Speaker 2: a clusterfuck.
- 55:43Speaker 3: Yea.
- 55:44Speaker 2: And it doesn't need to be like that. I think
- 55:48Speaker 2: Star Wars, and I think we've talked about this before,
- 55:52Speaker 2: star Wars can legitimately be a forever ongoing series with
- 56:02Speaker 2: mini series on the side. You can literally make this
- 56:06Speaker 2: an entire Like that's how Marvel should be thinking. So
- 56:12Speaker 2: Marvel has an imprint for their like superhero genre. Yeah,
- 56:19Speaker 2: and then they have an imprint for twentieth Century Fox.
- 56:25Speaker 2: What they need to start doing is adding Lucasfilm as
- 56:32Speaker 2: their own imprint.
- 56:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 56:36Speaker 2: They need to just say, hey, we're going to push
- 56:39Speaker 2: this off. It's gonna be its own thing. They have
- 56:43Speaker 2: an ongoing series of the main title and then you
- 56:47Speaker 2: do other mini series and other small stuff to go
- 56:50Speaker 2: along with it.
- 56:52Speaker 3: And I think that makes the most sense, and I
- 56:54Speaker 3: think that's what they were trying to do. But then
- 56:57Speaker 3: the the like big cross series, I think that threw
- 57:03Speaker 3: things off where people were not a fan of those
- 57:07Speaker 3: and so they were like, Okay, we have to switch
- 57:09Speaker 3: things up again. No, you should have just gone back
- 57:12Speaker 3: to an ongoing Star Wars series and then had other
- 57:15Speaker 3: series you can bring people in. But you did not
- 57:18Speaker 3: need to cross over four series at a time for that.
- 57:22Speaker 3: That was insanity.
- 57:24Speaker 2: I think one of the biggest issues is again and
- 57:28Speaker 2: you just made a comment on it earlier saying like, oh,
- 57:32Speaker 2: you waited too long to do a post return of
- 57:34Speaker 2: the Jedi. Right, We've already been introduced to a new hero,
- 57:38Speaker 2: Race Skywalker. You just need to have a heavy conversation
- 57:43Speaker 2: with Lucasfilm saying hey, we need Race Skywalker stories in
- 57:49Speaker 2: the comics.
- 57:51Speaker 4: That's just what you need to do.
- 57:53Speaker 3: Yeah, and especially because like and we look at like
- 57:57Speaker 3: Galaxies Edge for instance, because Galaxies they're doing a mini
- 58:00Speaker 3: series right now introducing Batu into the Empire era, and
- 58:07Speaker 3: like Rebellion all this stuff, why do we keep going backwards.
- 58:16Speaker 2: Again? It's it's this idea me. It's it's this idea
- 58:22Speaker 2: that they keep wanting to like, oh, there's a gap here,
- 58:25Speaker 2: we can tell a story here. And they just literally
- 58:30Speaker 2: need to say like, hey, like we understand that, you know,
- 58:35Speaker 2: and and I I some like not somehow like I
- 58:40Speaker 2: do have to break it to people.
- 58:43Speaker 4: Star Wars is.
- 58:45Speaker 2: A cult classic, meaning like, yeah, it's fun, but it
- 58:53Speaker 2: does not hold up to this generation's ideas of what
- 58:57Speaker 2: a movie should be. It doesn't like it just it
- 59:02Speaker 2: just doesn't. When you introduce Star Wars Tomara eventually watching
- 59:08Speaker 2: episodes four, five, and six, she is probably going to
- 59:13Speaker 2: love it, but she is going to be more wow
- 59:17Speaker 2: and like, oh my gosh to newer things. Yeah, it's
- 59:21Speaker 2: just the way it is. It's just the way it is.
- 59:24Speaker 2: I'm sorry. I was more wowed and like foaming at
- 59:28Speaker 2: the mouth when I watched Phantom, Menace and Revenge of
- 59:32Speaker 2: the Sith, And I was just.
- 59:34Speaker 3: Gonna say, if if you wanted to stay in the
- 59:37Speaker 3: same like comfort zone with the original trilogy and the
- 59:41Speaker 3: prequel trilogy, go to the prequel trilogy. There's plenty of
- 59:45Speaker 3: stories there to be told.
- 59:48Speaker 4: Yeah, tell more Obi.
- 59:50Speaker 3: Wan and Anakin Padawan stories, Like, there's a very easy
- 59:56Speaker 3: ongoing series there that will bring in a bunch of
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: people because everybody loves Opi Wan and Anakin a little.
- 1:00:04Speaker 4: We just talked about literally Jedi Knights.
- 1:00:09Speaker 2: Jedi Knights sounded like such a good idea, and then
- 1:00:12Speaker 2: they just said, hey, here's a Qui Gongen story instead, like, yeah,
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: they are just they're fumbling the ball when literally.
- 1:00:23Speaker 4: The goal is taped to their forehead. Yeah, it's crazy.
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: Like so, and we've kind of talked around this comment. Guys.
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: It is a very easy story that does have a
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: lot of good moments in it that we are kind
- 1:00:42Speaker 3: of running out of time to do because apparently I'm
- 1:00:45Speaker 3: being summoned to put my dog in to bed. It's
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: got a lot of good, easy moments that delve into
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: the politics of the New Republic, and there's adventure scenes,
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: there's space fighting scenes, there's lightsaber moments, There's all these things.
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: They really make this comic shine. And again, Alex Sigoura
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: is a phenomenal storyteller that deserves more of these stories.
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: His Spider Man story, guys, I don't know if you
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: guys have read that. That's a great novel. There's a
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: young adult Spider Man's story. He did a great job
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: with it, so he he really does a fantastic job.
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: I would highly recommend if you can get past the
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: changing art between six, seven, eight, nine, ten. I think
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: this is absolutely a pickup at the end of the day,
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: if you were.
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: If you were invested in the Battle of Jaku and
- 1:01:49Speaker 2: you're like, hey, this entered on a cliffhanger, what happens next?
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: Pick up this story. It does shed light on what
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: they were trying to do. And I still have like
- 1:02:01Speaker 2: a little bit of like towards the ending of the story,
- 1:02:04Speaker 2: but I see the vision, I see where it was going,
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: and so I was like, yeah, this is really fun.
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: It's just unfortunate that this book turned out the way
- 1:02:13Speaker 2: it did.
- 1:02:14Speaker 3: Yeah, because I think the other thing too, that's important
- 1:02:17Speaker 3: to mention here is I think Oscar Rina Oscar phenomenal villain.
- 1:02:22Speaker 3: I love the concept. I love like delving into like, oh, hey,
- 1:02:27Speaker 3: they actually suck the life out of people and that's
- 1:02:29Speaker 3: how they stay young and beautiful.
- 1:02:32Speaker 4: Creepy, but a little bit of a negative take on that.
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: But I well, it's just like the the idea of
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: how it was resolved.
- 1:02:48Speaker 3: Yeah, that was a little punky dory, but but I
- 1:02:55Speaker 3: think it's because of how the series got canceled.
- 1:02:58Speaker 5: Yes, and like it was the the the ending of
- 1:03:03Speaker 5: that whole debacle, I think was a victim of the
- 1:03:10Speaker 5: fact that this story needed to be cut.
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: I don't think that's how you end her if this
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: story keeps going, Yeah, I just don't. But yeah, like
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: the the idea, like, because again I'm always the champion
- 1:03:26Speaker 2: for like, hey, Star Wars needs to go a little
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: bit more sci fi, it needs to get a little
- 1:03:30Speaker 2: bit more weird, it needs to go a little bit
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: more supernatural. I liked it, but the ending, I was
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: just like, m that was not sad.
- 1:03:41Speaker 3: Yeah, because the Anzati are actually from Star Wars legends,
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: and I think we had said that with the Battle
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: of jack Who. But yeah, because this was really their
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: first introduction into Star Wars was Alex sigour tale, So
- 1:04:06Speaker 3: I really dug it. I wish he had had more time,
- 1:04:10Speaker 3: for sure, because I do think things would have ended
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: just a little bit differently.
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: So yeah, yeah, and and just like how we do
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: our novel reviews, guys, like it's best to just try
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: it out yourself. So again, if you were invested in
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: Battle of JACKU, if you're a Star Wars fan, which
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: I hope you are because you are listening to this podcast,
- 1:04:39Speaker 2: then yeah, pick it up as a continuation of that
- 1:04:42Speaker 2: story and form your own opinion. But that is going
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: to be it for this review. We do have a
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: pre recorded Patreon exclusive setup for next week. It's got
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: People number two of the New Jedi Order series that
- 1:05:04Speaker 2: we are doing on Patreon. That'll be next week. We
