- 0:01Speaker 1: Hello, beautiful alchemist. Welcome to Reiki Radio. I am your host, Yolanda,
- 0:07Speaker 1: and we are continuing the conversations with beautiful contributors to
- 0:12Speaker 1: the book Reiki, Heart and Soul, Many Stories, One Bright Light,
- 0:17Speaker 1: which is a compilation and anthology that was put together
- 0:21Speaker 1: by Mama Ifataio White. So we are going to speak
- 0:25Speaker 1: today to Mama mut Ra'at and she is a dedicated
- 0:30Speaker 1: advocate for women's wellness and empowerment with a rich background
- 0:34Speaker 1: and holistic self care and community support. She is raised
- 0:38Speaker 1: in a nurturing environment surrounded by strong women. You are
- 0:41Speaker 1: going to hear all about her journey and how she
- 0:45Speaker 1: deepened her understanding through rights of passage with Queen Afua
- 0:50Speaker 1: and ancient practices with the Shrine of Kephira. As a doula,
- 0:55Speaker 1: she witnessed firsthand the profound impact of self care and
- 0:59Speaker 1: communal support on women's health. And she was inspired by
- 1:03Speaker 1: the book called The Red Tint and now through her
- 1:06Speaker 1: work and supported by other womb keepers, she has written
- 1:11Speaker 1: a book and focuses on helping women heal through pink, red,
- 1:16Speaker 1: and purple tints. Her mission is to transform homes into
- 1:20Speaker 1: moon lodges where women and girls are supported by their
- 1:24Speaker 1: families as wombkeepers, fostering a culture of open communication and
- 1:28Speaker 1: holistic care. She is committed to spreading this practice globally
- 1:32Speaker 1: through her writings, consultations, and community facilitation. You will hear
- 1:38Speaker 1: some incredible insights through her story. I really really appreciated
- 1:42Speaker 1: all that she did share, but I think this message
- 1:45Speaker 1: is important for all people. You know, when we hear
- 1:49Speaker 1: about womb work, and we hear about I guess even
- 1:54Speaker 1: the you know, turning our homes into moon lodges, there's
- 1:57Speaker 1: an assumption that this work is focused only to women
- 2:02Speaker 1: who are experiencing cycles or going through menopause. But the
- 2:05Speaker 1: truth is, and you'll learn her from her, that this
- 2:08Speaker 1: work is really for all people and why it's important
- 2:12Speaker 1: that all of us understand just all of this, all
- 2:16Speaker 1: of this work. It's so incredible, so I hope you
- 2:18Speaker 1: enjoy it again. Her name is Mama moot Raat and
- 2:23Speaker 1: you can find out more about her work at Cycle
- 2:26Speaker 1: breakin womb keepers dot com. The link is down in
- 2:29Speaker 1: the show description and I will see you on the
- 2:33Speaker 1: other side. Okay, everyone, we are here today with Mama
- 2:46Speaker 1: moot Raat, and I am so thankful that we get
- 2:51Speaker 1: to have this conversation. Another beautiful contributor to the book
- 2:55Speaker 1: that was put together this anthology by Mama Ifatio, Ricky
- 2:59Speaker 1: Hart and Soul Many Stories, One Bright Light. So thank
- 3:02Speaker 1: you for taking time to have the conversation today.
- 3:06Speaker 2: Thank you, thank you for inviting me.
- 3:09Speaker 1: Yes, well, I was telling you before we started recording,
- 3:13Speaker 1: how beautiful your work is, especially reading your story in
- 3:17Speaker 1: the book, and how I wish I had known of
- 3:19Speaker 1: your work, especially as a younger woman. And we're going
- 3:23Speaker 1: to get all into that. But before we do. Your
- 3:29Speaker 1: story in the book, you named it the Journey of
- 3:32Speaker 1: a generational cycle Breaker, and I thought that was such
- 3:36Speaker 1: a beautiful title. And you start off by acknowledging your
- 3:40Speaker 1: parents and the fact that they still live within you.
- 3:43Speaker 1: So I wanted to ask you about how early life
- 3:47Speaker 1: may have shaped where you are now, the work that
- 3:51Speaker 1: you're doing now, and how you recognize yourself as being
- 3:55Speaker 1: a cycle breaker.
- 4:00Speaker 2: M When I think about I'm trying to see how
- 4:04Speaker 2: far I want to go back. When I think about,
- 4:07Speaker 2: you know, my life in New Orleans with my parents,
- 4:11Speaker 2: you know, being the middle child of six. We all
- 4:14Speaker 2: have separate stories that re experience, and the one that
- 4:18Speaker 2: I experienced with my parents was that, you know. My
- 4:20Speaker 2: father was a fisherman. He used to love to take
- 4:22Speaker 2: us fishing, all six of us, you know, on the weekends.
- 4:26Speaker 2: And the preparation alone was so intense for me, you know,
- 4:31Speaker 2: to pack up all the different items that he needed.
- 4:36Speaker 2: But my father was like a hands on type of father.
- 4:39Speaker 2: He didn't mind. He was like all into it with
- 4:41Speaker 2: all of us, telling us to be quiet, get this,
- 4:43Speaker 2: get back, and given orders when I enjoyed that. And
- 4:47Speaker 2: he's also he was a theanoist, so he used to
- 4:49Speaker 2: sit me on his lap and play the piano, you know,
- 4:52Speaker 2: and just you know, be involved like that. And my
- 4:55Speaker 2: mother was if she was a mom. She was always
- 4:59Speaker 2: preparing the foo food and doing our hair, and I
- 5:02Speaker 2: remember her little fingers used to ramp up from breaking
- 5:05Speaker 2: out here, but she would do it anyway, and you know,
- 5:08Speaker 2: just being present and nurturing us in the ways that
- 5:11Speaker 2: she could. And then I remember the days when she
- 5:14Speaker 2: was sick, you know, and I would see the ambulance.
- 5:16Speaker 2: I was, you know, fatigue is short. I would see
- 5:19Speaker 2: the ambulance coming, you know, with the lights and everything
- 5:22Speaker 2: and take her and taking her out of the house.
- 5:25Speaker 2: And but the days in New Orleans was so beautiful.
- 5:29Speaker 2: You know, I felt so free, you know, being an
- 5:31Speaker 2: age of four or five six, I remember running outside
- 5:35Speaker 2: beer foot the you know, loving the outside. I guess
- 5:38Speaker 2: that's probably why I can't do the winters now, because
- 5:41Speaker 2: I didn't need a lot of clothes on. I don't
- 5:42Speaker 2: remember wearing a cold of New Orleans. And it was
- 5:44Speaker 2: always that energy of the elements that really kept us
- 5:47Speaker 2: with so much joy and laughing no matter what, you know,
- 5:51Speaker 2: So that stayed with me as my you know, my
- 5:55Speaker 2: life changed when my mother passed away at eight. You know,
- 5:58Speaker 2: my grandmother came from Brooklyn to my mother's funeral, and
- 6:03Speaker 2: she she changed my life. She came, my grandmother on
- 6:07Speaker 2: my mother's side. She came at my mother's funeral, and
- 6:10Speaker 2: she took the three girls and left the boys with
- 6:13Speaker 2: my father, you know, and you know it was this
- 6:17Speaker 2: and I'm the only picture I have on my child,
- 6:19Speaker 2: myself as a child, is at my mother's funeral. They
- 6:22Speaker 2: took me outside and I had on a slip and
- 6:24Speaker 2: I was just standing in the sign. You could I
- 6:28Speaker 2: can see the glow on my face, not knowing what
- 6:32Speaker 2: was happening next. And then you know, coming to Brooklyn
- 6:36Speaker 2: from New Orleans and living in an apartment, and my
- 6:39Speaker 2: grandmother's way of life is totally different, you know. My
- 6:44Speaker 2: grandmother and my two aunts on Brooklyn Avenue in Brooklyn,
- 6:50Speaker 2: and the lifestyle was so different. My grandmother was into
- 6:55Speaker 2: the church. She went to church off. Then we went
- 6:58Speaker 2: to church all during the week on a week kends,
- 7:00Speaker 2: and we had a lot of restrictions and dudes and don'ts.
- 7:03Speaker 2: And I was like, what what what? Yeah? What is this?
- 7:07Speaker 2: So I cried many times, you know, and that not
- 7:13Speaker 2: having any closure about what was going on, not being
- 7:16Speaker 2: asked how I felt about things. I grew up with
- 7:19Speaker 2: a lot of anger, you know, angry at God, angry
- 7:22Speaker 2: at my parents for you know, for not being not living,
- 7:27Speaker 2: you know, just a lot of questions unanswered on grief
- 7:31Speaker 2: and that marinated in my life growing up, you know.
- 7:37Speaker 2: And then have getting a call. I think I was
- 7:39Speaker 2: like fifteen or sixteen when we got a call that
- 7:41Speaker 2: my father was was dead and buried. Because I didn't
- 7:46Speaker 2: have no contact with my father from the time I
- 7:50Speaker 2: left at my mother's funeral, So that was another thing.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Another thing. I was like, Oh my God, just don't
- 7:55Speaker 2: get no better than this. Why you know. So another
- 7:59Speaker 2: thing that really drove that questioning within myself and I
- 8:03Speaker 2: had to work through all of it. Right. Oh but
- 8:08Speaker 2: being at my grandmother kept us in the church, which
- 8:10Speaker 2: I didn't like. I didn't like the restriction and stuff
- 8:14Speaker 2: like that. I learned. You know, after a while, I
- 8:17Speaker 2: had said to my grandmother, you know, don't baptize me again.
- 8:20Speaker 2: I don't need it. And you know, I'm like, don't
- 8:23Speaker 2: let me stay on my knees. I don't need it.
- 8:25Speaker 2: And they was like a spiritual Baptist and it was like,
- 8:28Speaker 2: oh God, they had to carry me. And I was
- 8:30Speaker 2: very rebellious, so they had to get the devil out
- 8:32Speaker 2: of me and all this stuff. And I felt like
- 8:35Speaker 2: I had my relationship with God was not the thear God, right,
- 8:40Speaker 2: you know, and it's something in me just knew I
- 8:42Speaker 2: didn't need all of that. I was good, but you know,
- 8:46Speaker 2: my grandmother saw it as a rebellion. But to make
- 8:50Speaker 2: a long story short, I learned so much with how
- 8:57Speaker 2: I was all my I always said my life the
- 9:00Speaker 2: spirit God, it spirit driven because everything that I went
- 9:04Speaker 2: through in my life and all the questioning and things
- 9:07Speaker 2: like that, it opened doors for me to get some outlet,
- 9:12Speaker 2: an outlet of peace, an outlet of wanting to know
- 9:16Speaker 2: God for myself, you know. And I've always felt like
- 9:20Speaker 2: a free spirit. I didn't need all of that. It
- 9:22Speaker 2: was always good. I had a relationship with God. I
- 9:24Speaker 2: had a relationship regard of my understanding that I needed
- 9:27Speaker 2: to define comfort, and through that I attracted people that
- 9:33Speaker 2: was not family that always poured into me. Women. You know,
- 9:37Speaker 2: my friends. Parents would always you know, sit and I
- 9:41Speaker 2: call them my bonus parents. You know. They would nurture
- 9:44Speaker 2: me in ways that my grandmother Clinton, you know, and
- 9:48Speaker 2: all most of mine growing up years has always been
- 9:51Speaker 2: somebody outside the family that nurtured me in ways that
- 9:54Speaker 2: I needed it. So I always got what I needed.
- 9:57Speaker 2: And then hm hm. The next step was when my
- 10:05Speaker 2: my grandmother had moved us from Brooklyn to back down
- 10:10Speaker 2: South my last year of high school twelfth grade, because
- 10:15Speaker 2: we was put out of the church because my my sister,
- 10:21Speaker 2: because of my sister and her relationship with the pastor's son,
- 10:24Speaker 2: we was put out of the church. My grandmother out
- 10:26Speaker 2: of Shane moved us from Brooklyn back to Georgia in
- 10:31Speaker 2: my twelfth year of high school. That was another thing
- 10:33Speaker 2: I had to work through. So I decided to you know,
- 10:38Speaker 2: to give my grandmother the blessings and worked that last
- 10:41Speaker 2: year and moved back to Brooklyn, you know, and we
- 10:45Speaker 2: and we and gave my grandmother all the blessings for
- 10:49Speaker 2: all she did for me. But I would no longer
- 10:52Speaker 2: be able to you know, stay with her. I wanted
- 10:54Speaker 2: to move forward with my life. So that was a
- 10:57Speaker 2: really big step for myself. And so I graduate from
- 11:02Speaker 2: high school. My grandmother did not come. I made my dress.
- 11:05Speaker 2: My grandmother was. She taught us how to sew. She
- 11:08Speaker 2: made everything we wore, you know, being in the church,
- 11:11Speaker 2: she wore. She made all the clothing and we wore.
- 11:14Speaker 2: We had to wear long skirts, longsley shirts, only gray,
- 11:18Speaker 2: black and and you know, common colors like that, nothing bright.
- 11:24Speaker 2: And so that was the first step of me taking
- 11:26Speaker 2: back my freedom. Is like on be laving myself at
- 11:30Speaker 2: my grandmother's house and going back to Brooklyn and live
- 11:33Speaker 2: with my aunt. So did you see how my life
- 11:36Speaker 2: this was, you know, really on Godi and give me
- 11:40Speaker 2: the strength to find a way to be more independent
- 11:43Speaker 2: and take more power back and live my life the
- 11:46Speaker 2: way I needed to.
- 11:47Speaker 1: Mama, And I have to say, there's so much with
- 11:52Speaker 1: what you just shared, one of the things that stands
- 11:54Speaker 1: out so loudly is the whole idea. You know, people
- 11:57Speaker 1: say God is within us, and you know, the recognition
- 12:02Speaker 1: of that is really the teaching of all of the
- 12:04Speaker 1: great work, is the realization of the divine as you are.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Your story highlights that also. I love how it highlights
- 12:13Speaker 1: the truth of it takes a village really truly. But
- 12:16Speaker 1: it also makes me so curious because listening to you
- 12:19Speaker 1: talk about growing up in New Orleans and your childhood
- 12:23Speaker 1: and how both of your parents were so present, and
- 12:27Speaker 1: there's like such a glow about you even when you
- 12:29Speaker 1: talk about how present and hands on they both were
- 12:32Speaker 1: in their own ways.
- 12:34Speaker 2: And in the.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Book you also talk about though, how they both then
- 12:38Speaker 1: became inspiration for how you turned to different aspects of healing.
- 12:44Speaker 1: So could you tell us a little bit about how
- 12:47Speaker 1: your mother and what she went through, how that highlighted
- 12:51Speaker 1: for you the need for womb work and self care
- 12:55Speaker 1: and then you father and the tie into relationships.
- 12:59Speaker 2: Yes, my mother first of all. You know, once I
- 13:03Speaker 2: so I did really be reaching out and asking for
- 13:08Speaker 2: help back in the day when self health came out.
- 13:11Speaker 2: I don't know when what year was that in the
- 13:13Speaker 2: eighties when self health came out, that rung a bell
- 13:17Speaker 2: in my head self help, I can help myself. I
- 13:19Speaker 2: didn't need my parents and my grandparents or anybody, right,
- 13:23Speaker 2: so I was I'm a tourist, aquarius, Aquarius. I've always
- 13:26Speaker 2: been like literally self taught with books on all of
- 13:32Speaker 2: these things, right, and I attracted the best teachers, and
- 13:40Speaker 2: I'm my spirit called out for help when I was
- 13:43Speaker 2: going through the dark Knight of the soul in my thirties,
- 13:46Speaker 2: like most people, you know, I thought I was like
- 13:48Speaker 2: thirty two minds, this is how it feels to die.
- 13:51Speaker 2: I really felt like my world was crashing because of
- 13:53Speaker 2: all the things that was going on. And I heard
- 13:56Speaker 2: a voice that said to me that I had had
- 14:00Speaker 2: to become a happy, health a happier, healthier parent. Wow.
- 14:04Speaker 2: And I looked around. I was like, I don't see anybody.
- 14:07Speaker 2: So I started writing down happy healthy parent and I
- 14:11Speaker 2: made that my email back in the day, and that
- 14:14Speaker 2: really drew to me all the things that I needed
- 14:17Speaker 2: to learn. My crime was like, please allow me to
- 14:21Speaker 2: find out what I need to help heal myself and
- 14:25Speaker 2: stay healthy because I felt like I was about to die.
- 14:28Speaker 2: You know, emotionally, spiritually and all of that, and that
- 14:35Speaker 2: a download of Happy Healthy Parent was a journey for
- 14:39Speaker 2: me to enter and more people came into my life.
- 14:43Speaker 2: More people came into my life. And one of the
- 14:46Speaker 2: books that I studied was Louise Hayes, and she talks
- 14:50Speaker 2: about the body and the emotional emotions that causes the
- 14:53Speaker 2: disease in the body. And when I look up hidney,
- 14:57Speaker 2: it really identified what my grandmother was going through. She
- 15:00Speaker 2: was away from her side of the family with my
- 15:03Speaker 2: father's side of her family and having baby after baby,
- 15:06Speaker 2: you know, and each child, you know, weaken her body system.
- 15:12Speaker 2: You know her kidneys, and kidneys represent isolation. It was
- 15:21Speaker 2: I can't remember all the details, but this Kidney's told
- 15:24Speaker 2: you that her body was crying out emotionally for loneliness, shame.
- 15:30Speaker 2: You know. She she had issues with her mother, which
- 15:34Speaker 2: I didn't know I had a grandmother until she came
- 15:36Speaker 2: from my mother's funeral. So you could tell there was
- 15:39Speaker 2: a disconnect between that, and later on I found out why,
- 15:42Speaker 2: you know why it was the disconnect and I see
- 15:45Speaker 2: that as mother and daughter relationships. After having three sons,
- 15:48Speaker 2: I had a daughter. So my mother's story, I was like, Mom.
- 15:51Speaker 2: After a while, I got tired of being angry and
- 15:54Speaker 2: I started looking at talking to her picture before the
- 15:57Speaker 2: movie Coco came out, and I was like, you're gonna
- 16:00Speaker 2: know what I'm I'm going through. I'm gonna tell you everything.
- 16:03Speaker 2: And in doing so, I fact this connection with her
- 16:06Speaker 2: that we would talk about. I would talk out loud
- 16:08Speaker 2: about what I was going through, and I could feel
- 16:10Speaker 2: the comfort, you know. So I learned through my mom
- 16:15Speaker 2: that I had to honor my steps as a mother
- 16:20Speaker 2: take care of my wound. I attracted Queen of Four
- 16:24Speaker 2: and I did rice and passes with Queen of Four
- 16:27Speaker 2: attracted Yalla Van, saying I did tapping the power within
- 16:32Speaker 2: and and empowerment with her, and she really I still
- 16:37Speaker 2: hold on to the affirmation of words. You see, I'm
- 16:39Speaker 2: always posting things about the word and and And she
- 16:43Speaker 2: taught me that she had this diagram where watch it thinking,
- 16:47Speaker 2: because your thinking be becomes your character and all that
- 16:52Speaker 2: and becomes your destiny. And I really died into that,
- 16:57Speaker 2: you know. And Queena four taught me that my wound
- 17:01Speaker 2: was sacred. I could finally talk about my wound as
- 17:04Speaker 2: being sacred. I'm like, what I you know, my body
- 17:08Speaker 2: was sacred, even my vagina. I was like what, and
- 17:11Speaker 2: she was like, take a marror and look down there
- 17:13Speaker 2: before we went in. And I was like what. And
- 17:16Speaker 2: it really brought me joy and knowing that my body
- 17:19Speaker 2: was sacred, you know. And then I started, you know,
- 17:25Speaker 2: using the tools that she gave me, and it reminded
- 17:27Speaker 2: me my great grandmother ways, my great grandmother. She was
- 17:31Speaker 2: like a medicine woman. She had all the natural remedies,
- 17:35Speaker 2: and she loved her bathroom and her baths and his tools,
- 17:40Speaker 2: and she had the Roman therapy with the central oils,
- 17:43Speaker 2: and and I'm a bag and a bathroom. I'm like, Grandma.
- 17:46Speaker 2: I feel like now I'm living my grandmother's ways, you know,
- 17:49Speaker 2: my great my great grandmother. So all of that came
- 17:52Speaker 2: to a part to me, and I loved that I
- 17:55Speaker 2: was able to heal myself with fib words. I had
- 17:58Speaker 2: a bad, bad miscarriage, have five boys that pushed and
- 18:02Speaker 2: grew and pushed the feetus out, and that was all
- 18:06Speaker 2: all the miscarriage was so oh my god, I can't
- 18:10Speaker 2: even think about it. When I think about, I to
- 18:11Speaker 2: feel all the things that I went through with that miscarriage.
- 18:15Speaker 2: And so I learned how to you know, really connect
- 18:19Speaker 2: with my wound and heal my wound of five boys
- 18:22Speaker 2: and really no how every month on my second time,
- 18:25Speaker 2: I used to take off Ebby to day's you know, uh,
- 18:29Speaker 2: and I really dived into the whole wound wellness connection
- 18:34Speaker 2: with myself.
- 18:36Speaker 1: This is what I want to ask you, but I
- 18:37Speaker 1: want to make sure we really get into this because
- 18:39Speaker 1: I told you again at the beginning. Man, I wish
- 18:41Speaker 1: I knew you when I was younger, but Mama moved.
- 18:44Speaker 1: So just this journey was, you know, your mother, she
- 18:49Speaker 1: had these health issues and passed when you were so young,
- 18:52Speaker 1: you were only eight years old. And then fast forward,
- 18:56Speaker 1: you know you as a young woman, early thirties, you
- 19:00Speaker 1: go through a divorce. At that point, you had four children,
- 19:03Speaker 1: you had three boys and a girl, and you're going
- 19:07Speaker 1: through your dark knight of the soul. And it's so
- 19:09Speaker 1: interesting how things come back around. So this is this
- 19:13Speaker 1: you hearing this voice tell you, you know, be a happy,
- 19:16Speaker 1: healthy parent, and you start diving into all of this,
- 19:21Speaker 1: you know, trying to understand even what your mom went
- 19:24Speaker 1: through all these years later, since eight years old to
- 19:27Speaker 1: like now your early thirties, right, and it's wild to
- 19:31Speaker 1: hear how you know, they say, like the pain will
- 19:34Speaker 1: often like crack us open. Yeah, and so like it
- 19:37Speaker 1: just came to a head and then all of a
- 19:39Speaker 1: sudden you start searching and seeking, and now you're studying
- 19:44Speaker 1: with these amazing women. You mentioned the movie Coco, that's
- 19:48Speaker 1: the one that has the like the Mexican tradition of dan.
- 19:51Speaker 2: Yes, you had a ancesties. Yes, yes, yes, I was
- 19:57Speaker 2: doing that. Yeah, but so all of this.
- 20:00Speaker 1: Again, think of all these years later after losing both
- 20:04Speaker 1: of your parents and now you're on this healing journey,
- 20:07Speaker 1: recognizing your body is sacred and having this realization that
- 20:15Speaker 1: your grandmother was practicing in some ways these things you
- 20:20Speaker 1: were now learning from other women. That's incredible.
- 20:25Speaker 2: So this womb work could you you told us about obviously,
- 20:29Speaker 2: I mean I can't imagine, you know, the miscarriage and
- 20:32Speaker 2: what that does to women emotionally, mentally, all these different things,
- 20:37Speaker 2: and then to come back around to now honoring the
- 20:40Speaker 2: womb space where a lot of people end up having
- 20:43Speaker 2: so much story and upset at their bodies because of
- 20:49Speaker 2: what has gone through. So could you talk to us
- 20:52Speaker 2: about this importance of the womb and the womb work
- 20:56Speaker 2: that really highlighted for you because with everything you went through,
- 21:00Speaker 2: I mean, it's really interesting that this was the piece
- 21:03Speaker 2: that you have to stay with me. Oh, it's so important,
- 21:07Speaker 2: you know. And even though I used to be a duela,
- 21:10Speaker 2: right I I quit my job. I got laid off
- 21:16Speaker 2: in two thousand and they asked, you know, who wanted
- 21:20Speaker 2: to be layoff of who wants to move on? And
- 21:22Speaker 2: I've raised both hands. I was ready to get out
- 21:25Speaker 2: of there. And after I got laid off and released
- 21:28Speaker 2: the job in corporate America, I got into what I
- 21:33Speaker 2: wanted to really want to do, and one thing I
- 21:36Speaker 2: wanted to do was stay with supporting women with healings.
- 21:40Speaker 2: I became a douela and back then the word had
- 21:43Speaker 2: just came out again and people with my my friends,
- 21:46Speaker 2: she used to she started the duela business in her
- 21:50Speaker 2: home and I used to babysit for her and cook
- 21:53Speaker 2: for her. And I used to babysit for hers because
- 21:56Speaker 2: she used to make healthy meals and I used to
- 21:59Speaker 2: exchanged with saying meals and stuff like that. But when
- 22:03Speaker 2: she was writing up the program for the duelers, she
- 22:06Speaker 2: kept adding things on and I was like, wait a minute,
- 22:09Speaker 2: this for doula means what it means supporting women. In
- 22:13Speaker 2: my head, I was like, I already know how to
- 22:15Speaker 2: support women. I remember my grandmother and my two aunts.
- 22:19Speaker 2: They were like backstreet midwives. They did everything support women, please.
- 22:24Speaker 2: They used to nurture women after you know, do basically
- 22:30Speaker 2: the what do you call abortion duelers, death duelers whatever.
- 22:34Speaker 2: My aunts and my grandmother, it was hands on in
- 22:38Speaker 2: the community. They did everything, you know, when it comes
- 22:41Speaker 2: down to community service. I was like, I already know
- 22:42Speaker 2: how to support women. Why do I have need to
- 22:45Speaker 2: have a certificate. So I advertised myself as being a doula.
- 22:48Speaker 2: And even during the certification, I had to go to
- 22:53Speaker 2: certain people house and get credits and stuff like that.
- 22:56Speaker 2: I will go to people houses outside about race and
- 23:00Speaker 2: they would give me a list of things to do
- 23:01Speaker 2: so they can take care of themselves and I can
- 23:04Speaker 2: hold it down for them. When I go to our
- 23:06Speaker 2: people house, they was like, no, I got it. I
- 23:10Speaker 2: got it. It's okay. They didn't know how to receive help,
- 23:14Speaker 2: you know. And I was like wow. And even when
- 23:18Speaker 2: I was a doula, it's you know, a lot of
- 23:22Speaker 2: the women they you know, they will forget when it
- 23:26Speaker 2: came time, we would do the birth on the Birthen
- 23:29Speaker 2: plan and stuff like that. But when the pain came,
- 23:31Speaker 2: they it went out the window and they would listen
- 23:34Speaker 2: to the doctors and wind up having a C section.
- 23:36Speaker 2: And I was like, oh my god, and then calling
- 23:40Speaker 2: for when they in labor it will take days. And
- 23:45Speaker 2: I remember the last delivery. I was like, I can't
- 23:48Speaker 2: do this sleeping. I need to sleep, you know. I
- 23:51Speaker 2: had to call for backup and things like that. So
- 23:53Speaker 2: I was like, no, this is not gonna work. Then
- 23:57Speaker 2: I came up for us this book a sister friend
- 24:00Speaker 2: of mine, she was doing a red tant and I
- 24:03Speaker 2: came across the book the Red Tent and they talked
- 24:06Speaker 2: about women leading together and coming in community and sharing
- 24:11Speaker 2: their medicine and the stories and helping other women to heal.
- 24:15Speaker 2: And I was like, Wow, we're not going to come
- 24:18Speaker 2: together and bleed together. That's not back late. But we
- 24:21Speaker 2: can turn our home into a moonlaws that's key if
- 24:25Speaker 2: we can help women. And I started thinking about how
- 24:28Speaker 2: when I was in corporate America, how I took off
- 24:30Speaker 2: the first two days of my cycle, and how I felt,
- 24:33Speaker 2: you know, my sons were older. I taught them how
- 24:36Speaker 2: to cook and clean and everything. So I said, listen,
- 24:38Speaker 2: mommy's on her cycle. You're going to take over and
- 24:41Speaker 2: take here the house and serve me. And it was
- 24:44Speaker 2: such a benefit for me to do that because every
- 24:47Speaker 2: time my cycles was less and less, I was stronger.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Even when I went back to work, there was like, oh,
- 24:53Speaker 2: you called them sick, look at you going. I was like, yes,
- 24:56Speaker 2: that's my selfier days. But I was that's it. If
- 25:01Speaker 2: I can help women how to take care of themselves
- 25:04Speaker 2: on their cycle time every month, they can give birth
- 25:08Speaker 2: to anything. I had two clients, one that helped me
- 25:15Speaker 2: to ask me to work with them from the time
- 25:17Speaker 2: they say they want to get pregnant, they got married,
- 25:21Speaker 2: and they we worked through things that they had to
- 25:24Speaker 2: untapped up until the time they gave birth, and then
- 25:27Speaker 2: they had a home birth. It was so beautiful. It
- 25:30Speaker 2: was prepared. So this thing that I'm teaching now that
- 25:35Speaker 2: turn your home to moonlars teaching women how to live
- 25:39Speaker 2: by the seasons every season. We go through every season,
- 25:43Speaker 2: all all four seasons, every month. If they only pay
- 25:48Speaker 2: attention to the fall in the winter seasons, the springs
- 25:52Speaker 2: in the summer weeks, it's going to be more of
- 25:56Speaker 2: their lifestyle than fall and winter. It applies to every women,
- 26:01Speaker 2: whether they bleeding or on menopause. So that's what that
- 26:08Speaker 2: was the thing that helped me to understand how we
- 26:12Speaker 2: can My mother's story can be a different story for
- 26:16Speaker 2: a lot of women if they take care of themselves
- 26:19Speaker 2: every month on their cycle time.
- 26:21Speaker 1: So it sounds like you're saying this is really interesting,
- 26:24Speaker 1: and I wanted to ask you about this too, because
- 26:27Speaker 1: you mentioned in the book creating the moon lodge even
- 26:31Speaker 1: in your own house and with your grandchildren and your
- 26:34Speaker 1: daughter in laws now and everything. But also the red,
- 26:37Speaker 1: the pink, the purple, and the blue tints. So we're
- 26:39Speaker 1: going to get to that too. But with what you're
- 26:42Speaker 1: saying in terms of our cycles and going through every
- 26:46Speaker 1: season every month, there's a couple of things coming to mind.
- 26:50Speaker 1: One with what you teach, it sounds like at a
- 26:56Speaker 1: foundational level, it helps women learn how to be in
- 26:59Speaker 1: better relationship up with ourselves, like how to acknowledge ourselves,
- 27:04Speaker 1: being connection to ourselves, and instead of maybe fighting and
- 27:09Speaker 1: being angry at the bodies, learning how to take care
- 27:13Speaker 1: of our bodies while they're going through this so fascinating.
- 27:17Speaker 1: So really, it sounds like there is no off time
- 27:23Speaker 1: in terms of us caring for ourselves right, not only
- 27:27Speaker 1: getting when something's off.
- 27:29Speaker 2: Yeah, could you talk about what that how that helps
- 27:34Speaker 2: us heal?
- 27:34Speaker 1: On so many levels, this this self connection and awareness.
- 27:40Speaker 2: We are so disconnected from ourselves, the society, and the
- 27:44Speaker 2: world and even my parents. Me and my girlfriend of
- 27:47Speaker 2: over sixty years, because she was one of my best
- 27:50Speaker 2: for instance, since I came to New York at ten
- 27:52Speaker 2: years old, and we talked about how our parents couldn't
- 27:56Speaker 2: They didn't. They were so busy in survival, moll they
- 27:59Speaker 2: didn't have time to talk about self care. That's the
- 28:02Speaker 2: only thing they didn't give us. They gave us so
- 28:05Speaker 2: many other things. And like I said, my aunt and
- 28:07Speaker 2: my heart, two sisters, we had everything in that package.
- 28:11Speaker 2: We couldn't get away with nothing. They made our clothes,
- 28:14Speaker 2: they did the shop. There was everything involved with everything
- 28:19Speaker 2: but self care. Even my grandmother. I was able to
- 28:23Speaker 2: really hold space and hear her wound this story and
- 28:27Speaker 2: tell her and you were forgiven, my grandma, you don't
- 28:30Speaker 2: have to hide behind the church. God forgave you. Forgive yourself.
- 28:33Speaker 2: I was able to teach her how to pamper. I
- 28:36Speaker 2: remember The first time I put her to her feet
- 28:39Speaker 2: into one of those footobs to give her some relaxation
- 28:44Speaker 2: with the foottops, she thought I was gonna electrocute her.
- 28:46Speaker 2: She was afraid because she never felt that comfort before.
- 28:50Speaker 2: I was like, Grandma, will never hurt you. And I
- 28:52Speaker 2: would nurture and massage her feet and everything like that,
- 28:56Speaker 2: and she would go straight to seat sleep. She had
- 28:59Speaker 2: the men ya right, and my sister we would take
- 29:02Speaker 2: turns with Grandma and they were center over to me.
- 29:05Speaker 2: And then I'll send them a picture of Grandma's sleep,
- 29:07Speaker 2: and they was like, how did you get grandma to sleep?
- 29:10Speaker 2: Had gathered a lot of tools of self care when
- 29:13Speaker 2: I was able to share with her. So we have
- 29:18Speaker 2: to somehow find the time to sit with somebody that
- 29:22Speaker 2: can help us to remember how to reconnect with ourselves
- 29:26Speaker 2: because we had learned to give it all away. And
- 29:29Speaker 2: then when our wounds start speaking to us loudly and
- 29:33Speaker 2: screaming at us, droughing our cycle time, we be we
- 29:36Speaker 2: be answering it back and oh no, I'm going to
- 29:38Speaker 2: stop you up with paying killers and all of this
- 29:41Speaker 2: and keeping going instead of allowing those symptoms to be
- 29:47Speaker 2: our for more self love, for ourselves. You know, paying
- 29:51Speaker 2: means pay attention and with now I got that from
- 29:55Speaker 2: the yell Avance and I love the way she breaks
- 29:57Speaker 2: words down and when we say okay, he means pay attention.
- 30:01Speaker 2: And what now? What through this pain is asking me
- 30:04Speaker 2: to do? Do I need rest? I need to be hydrated?
- 30:11Speaker 2: Do I need some natural foods? And if we pay
- 30:17Speaker 2: attention to the week before our cycle, which is our
- 30:19Speaker 2: fall week, right, a lot of women have PMS and
- 30:24Speaker 2: anxiety and all of this stuff, and some of them
- 30:26Speaker 2: have a real, real bad until it's like mentally they
- 30:30Speaker 2: are not able to ground themselves. Will not work with
- 30:34Speaker 2: a women with that type of issue, and they focus
- 30:37Speaker 2: on the fall week and give themself some rest, I
- 30:41Speaker 2: give themselves some meditation, give themselves some ease up on
- 30:46Speaker 2: their diet with heavy foods, and give themselves some juice,
- 30:48Speaker 2: sing and lots of water, foods and soups and things
- 30:52Speaker 2: like that, warm things. They find that every month it
- 30:56Speaker 2: gets better. Within three months, they have a different cycle
- 31:02Speaker 2: because the full time it's telling us bringing up all
- 31:06Speaker 2: these things that we need to address. And sometimes it
- 31:08Speaker 2: may be in our relationships. It may be in our
- 31:11Speaker 2: relationship with ourself or our partners or our jobs, whatever
- 31:16Speaker 2: that week, it's bringing those things up. And if we
- 31:19Speaker 2: only journal them down and act ourselves Okay, what I
- 31:23Speaker 2: need to release, you know, and what I need to
- 31:27Speaker 2: replace it with for my own comfort. When you do
- 31:31Speaker 2: that within three months every time, every time, my clients
- 31:34Speaker 2: have a different testimony, the fact that's all I had
- 31:37Speaker 2: to do. Wow, but give myself stop for us and
- 31:41Speaker 2: give myself some attention and try to answer those things.
- 31:45Speaker 2: That's best you can. If you keep doing this every
- 31:47Speaker 2: month for years, you see that all of your challenge
- 31:52Speaker 2: is not challenges anymore. You be looking forward to Okay,
- 31:55Speaker 2: you come in what I need to do, and be
- 31:58Speaker 2: true to yourself. And when you be true to yourself
- 32:03Speaker 2: and use your voice, and you see how this makes
- 32:05Speaker 2: it so easier. So when we want to create a baby,
- 32:09Speaker 2: or a business or a new life, it becomes easier. Yeah,
- 32:15Speaker 2: we face our fears. We not so bogged down with
- 32:18Speaker 2: so many thoughts to be able to capture the thoughts
- 32:21Speaker 2: to say, Okay, I know why this, I'm feeling this,
- 32:24Speaker 2: this is coming up with me. I need to dress it.
- 32:27Speaker 2: Maybe I don't have time to address it. I used
- 32:29Speaker 2: to have this jar and when in my whole week,
- 32:32Speaker 2: and things used to come up. It was called a
- 32:34Speaker 2: dear God job. I will write them down. I'll put
- 32:37Speaker 2: them in a dear job God job, and I will say, God,
- 32:40Speaker 2: please hold that for me, you know, get it up
- 32:42Speaker 2: my mind. Hold that for me, and you work it
- 32:44Speaker 2: out so I could get it out my mind, so
- 32:48Speaker 2: my mind became clearer. Put it somewhere. So little steps
- 32:52Speaker 2: like that will help us to answer our wound instead
- 32:55Speaker 2: of not answering it. But when you don't answer that,
- 32:58Speaker 2: she will dress. She will scream at you. When you
- 33:02Speaker 2: see clotting and and and hemorrhaging, she's screaming at you.
- 33:06Speaker 2: She's not happy. Yeah, I seen it with my own body.
- 33:11Speaker 2: I went from hemorhaging to you know, I was so
- 33:14Speaker 2: upset when my my cycle changed into menopause. I was like,
- 33:18Speaker 2: oh no, I wanted it to stay because I got
- 33:21Speaker 2: so used to routine and beauty and ease. You know
- 33:25Speaker 2: you're in my cycle, tope, like, don't go away from
- 33:28Speaker 2: me please. And my friends just like, oh you're gonna
- 33:30Speaker 2: get hot flashes, you're gonna get these things. I never
- 33:32Speaker 2: got none of that because my thirties, my hoties got better.
- 33:37Speaker 2: My fifties got better, so it just eased right into that.
- 33:41Speaker 2: And then menopause is so you know, menopause means what
- 33:45Speaker 2: more time to pause, more time to pause. That's the
- 33:50Speaker 2: life of thriving. Okay, wait, I got a pause right there,
- 33:55Speaker 2: because that's a couple of things. So one I I
- 34:00Speaker 2: really really.
- 34:01Speaker 1: Want to highlight so much of what you're saying because
- 34:03Speaker 1: it's really powerful, and I think it's so important for
- 34:06Speaker 1: us to hear and you talking about this. It's bringing
- 34:12Speaker 1: to mind how powerful perspective is. And sometimes I think
- 34:17Speaker 1: we don't realize how damaging our stories and just like
- 34:22Speaker 1: the habitual like nature of you know, dreading our cycles coming,
- 34:28Speaker 1: or the perspective we have like when we're pmsing there's
- 34:31Speaker 1: already this this preconceived I think of even how society
- 34:36Speaker 1: kind of feels all these labels on us. You agree
- 34:39Speaker 1: in this, and you're crazy, you know, Yeah, But then.
- 34:43Speaker 2: To stop and say, like, no, I'm not crazy, I'm
- 34:46Speaker 2: not angry, I'm not upset. This is my time, like
- 34:49Speaker 2: you say, to pause and look within and see what
- 34:54Speaker 2: does my body need?
- 34:55Speaker 1: What's going on? I need to slow down. My pain
- 34:59Speaker 1: is telling me what I need to nourish myself. That
- 35:03Speaker 1: perspective alone, just that switch is so powerful. I can't.
- 35:09Speaker 1: I hope that the people listening are really really taking
- 35:14Speaker 1: this in. And I say people, because you also talk
- 35:18Speaker 1: about you know, your sons, and you even said, like
- 35:21Speaker 1: when you know on your first couple of days, they would,
- 35:24Speaker 1: you know, take over while you were taking care of
- 35:27Speaker 1: yourself and before we get into the menopause and pausing
- 35:31Speaker 1: more because I've said on the podcast, I'm in perimenopause
- 35:35Speaker 1: and you saying you, I'm like, hurry up and be over.
- 35:39Speaker 1: So it's interesting to hear you say like, no, I
- 35:41Speaker 1: don't want it to be over, but I want to
- 35:43Speaker 1: talk about the importance of men being in on this conversation.
- 35:49Speaker 2: Soul, You're like embarrassed and keep it separate, don't want
- 35:54Speaker 2: to talk to their sons or partners about their cycles
- 35:58Speaker 2: on what they're going through.
- 35:59Speaker 1: So could you talk about this the importance and what.
- 36:02Speaker 2: You were Then I had a blessing of having three
- 36:05Speaker 2: sons and their fathers just couldn't be fathers, and but
- 36:10Speaker 2: they blessed me with the status of leaving me alone
- 36:15Speaker 2: and allowing me to do that. And I prayed and
- 36:17Speaker 2: I asked God. I'm like, oh my god, I have
- 36:19Speaker 2: three sons. You bought three sons through my wounds. I
- 36:22Speaker 2: don't know what they need. I need to attract men
- 36:26Speaker 2: that would help my sons be men, my boys be men.
- 36:30Speaker 2: When they came, the men in the community came forth
- 36:35Speaker 2: and nurtured my oldest son and him in turn, you know,
- 36:39Speaker 2: he was he rapped his two brothers and they really
- 36:42Speaker 2: build together. They talk about everything together, and they still
- 36:45Speaker 2: like the three mustageers right now. And but they are
- 36:50Speaker 2: the best, you know, men for me. And they never
- 36:56Speaker 2: gave me no problem, you know, and they've never been
- 36:59Speaker 2: on the street, and they just listened to the things
- 37:02Speaker 2: that I was able to offer them as their mother.
- 37:05Speaker 2: And I'm telling you, he had it so good with
- 37:08Speaker 2: three sons. First. Then I went back and I asked
- 37:11Speaker 2: for the girl. That's another chapter of my books. And
- 37:15Speaker 2: did I get the girls? She sent me to all
- 37:17Speaker 2: of these spiritual rooms that I'm learning now. I was like,
- 37:20Speaker 2: oh my god, I'm in trouble now. It's a big
- 37:23Speaker 2: story having a girl after having three boys. Anyway, I'm
- 37:27Speaker 2: not trying to stay on focused, but my sons, I'm
- 37:30Speaker 2: telling you, when it came to me when I came
- 37:32Speaker 2: around and they went through assessing my first son, he
- 37:36Speaker 2: went through everything you need to first go through everything.
- 37:39Speaker 2: He went through everything with me. He had the wild,
- 37:42Speaker 2: crazy geraline, the angry geraline. You know. He saw me
- 37:48Speaker 2: in so many phases of my life. And when I
- 37:51Speaker 2: was going through my rites of passage, he was already gone.
- 37:55Speaker 2: He was already out of the house with his life,
- 37:57Speaker 2: work and stuff like that, and so he didn't see
- 38:01Speaker 2: the transformation. The other two saw the transformation Mom, my
- 38:04Speaker 2: second son. He said, Mom, you're the only person that
- 38:07Speaker 2: I knew that I know that changed the whole entire life.
- 38:11Speaker 2: He's he also saw the crazy general and I used
- 38:14Speaker 2: to smoke and body all of that. I did it all,
- 38:17Speaker 2: you know. And then he saw the return of self generalin.
- 38:22Speaker 2: You know, he saw all the spiritual wounds I went
- 38:24Speaker 2: in and he was, I call you like my next book.
- 38:27Speaker 2: I talk about each one of them being a part
- 38:29Speaker 2: of me. And my first son is my mind. He's
- 38:32Speaker 2: my brain. His brain, Oh my gosh, the things that
- 38:35Speaker 2: he create with his brain. And my second son, he's
- 38:38Speaker 2: my spirit everything that every spiritual woman I want to
- 38:41Speaker 2: He was like, I want that, I want that, I
- 38:43Speaker 2: want that. And he's a tourist too, So he's like
- 38:45Speaker 2: my the male version of me and my third son.
- 38:49Speaker 2: He's my heart. He's a aries and he has the
- 38:53Speaker 2: heart of bold. Oh my god, he's a dead dear friend.
- 38:57Speaker 2: He would ride and die with you. But he's also
- 39:01Speaker 2: he's fire. You don't play with that. He has a
- 39:06Speaker 2: teenage daughter and the kids, the men, the boys on
- 39:09Speaker 2: the street will not even date her. That's like, do
- 39:11Speaker 2: you know who her father is? Don't talk, look at
- 39:16Speaker 2: her and keep going, you know. So the value of
- 39:20Speaker 2: the beauty of raising three sons and honey turned out
- 39:23Speaker 2: to be such great men, each one of them. You know,
- 39:28Speaker 2: I don't want but nothing. They have a tracker on
- 39:30Speaker 2: me and everything. Oh and I'm so proud to say that.
- 39:36Speaker 2: You know, a lot of women can't say that. I
- 39:37Speaker 2: had three sons and they are priests, protect us and providers.
- 39:43Speaker 1: You know.
- 39:44Speaker 2: So for them the whole space for me when I
- 39:47Speaker 2: needed when I asked him to, you know, because they know,
- 39:51Speaker 2: they start to create. Like I said, they started craziness
- 39:53Speaker 2: in me and all that, and they she said, Mom,
- 39:54Speaker 2: please don't go there. Whatever we got to do, just
- 39:57Speaker 2: tell us we don't go there. We'll talk about it.
- 39:59Speaker 2: You know. They always been that type of suns. So
- 40:02Speaker 2: for them holding space for me when I was going
- 40:06Speaker 2: through my rights a passage, it was so beautiful, you know.
- 40:11Speaker 2: And then I had a I had a two family
- 40:14Speaker 2: house and their maids used to stay in the house
- 40:18Speaker 2: and I used to work with them to turn our
- 40:20Speaker 2: home into a mola so when the women in the
- 40:23Speaker 2: house get on the cycle, they would be served. They
- 40:26Speaker 2: didn't have to do anything. And my one of my sons,
- 40:29Speaker 2: him and his maids used to always have arguments. And
- 40:32Speaker 2: I used to say to him, what week is she?
- 40:33Speaker 2: What's her season this week? And he was like, ma,
- 40:37Speaker 2: it's a full season. I'm like, what you're supposed to do?
- 40:40Speaker 2: I was supposed to hold her, not us with her,
- 40:43Speaker 2: you know. And finally he got it, yes, But you know,
- 40:47Speaker 2: it was rough for a while, you know. And when
- 40:51Speaker 2: I hear them in a baby there was living in basement,
- 40:52Speaker 2: I hear them. I was like, first I call him,
- 40:55Speaker 2: I'm like, Canny, what week is it this week? And
- 40:57Speaker 2: he's like, oh ma, he said, but I need this
- 41:01Speaker 2: and I need that. You need something, you can't get
- 41:03Speaker 2: it from her this week or next week. You gotta
- 41:07Speaker 2: get somewhere else, you know. So this helped them to
- 41:12Speaker 2: deepen their relationship, you know, and be mindful and when
- 41:16Speaker 2: is the best week to talk to her and when
- 41:19Speaker 2: is the best week to just hold space for her.
- 41:21Speaker 2: So I've seen it. And all three of my daughter
- 41:24Speaker 2: in laws are medicine women and now my grandbabies. And
- 41:28Speaker 2: when I get down to my grandbabies. We used to
- 41:30Speaker 2: have conversations in the house when my grandkids went through puberty, right,
- 41:34Speaker 2: and I have a set of twin girl and boy twin.
- 41:37Speaker 2: So when we talked about the cycles and everything, and
- 41:40Speaker 2: my grandson was there, took he said, Grandma, did Malani
- 41:43Speaker 2: have a cycle at thirteen? When do it stop? I'm like, well,
- 41:46Speaker 2: she's in her horse. He said, no, forty years She'll
- 41:50Speaker 2: believed it that. But I'm like, no, wha. We are
- 41:54Speaker 2: very powerful. So having these conversations, I mean, and he
- 41:58Speaker 2: will go he would take it friends that he would
- 42:00Speaker 2: go to a target to get the past. He's like,
- 42:02Speaker 2: I'm getting these past y'all. Da da da. He'd been like,
- 42:05Speaker 2: make an announcement, so happy to serve. So that's that's
- 42:09Speaker 2: the psycho breaking right there. Yes, you know, and then
- 42:13Speaker 2: talk it to my eight year old grand babies. They
- 42:17Speaker 2: ate now. One of them was talking about the body
- 42:19Speaker 2: and the puberty. She's like grandma looking at money and
- 42:23Speaker 2: Grandma she said, these these dress are gonna give me
- 42:26Speaker 2: problems because she's tiny. Tinysh Peter. You know, I love
- 42:31Speaker 2: these conversations, you know, the weirdness. I couldn't talk about
- 42:34Speaker 2: my body, yes, with my grandma. She had too much trauma.
- 42:40Speaker 2: You know, I wanted to talk about my body. I
- 42:43Speaker 2: wanted to talk about sex. I want to talk about
- 42:45Speaker 2: my body, but my grandmother has so much trauma that
- 42:49Speaker 2: she would get so angry and cut me short and said,
- 42:52Speaker 2: never use those words in my house. Right, so I
- 42:55Speaker 2: had to snuff it and zip it.
- 42:58Speaker 1: You know, it's so interesting you say this, mamaud, because
- 43:02Speaker 1: it's coming to mind, how much trauma and just like
- 43:06Speaker 1: you're saying, you read Louise Hayes work, you know, back
- 43:09Speaker 1: in the day, but how much trauma is held in
- 43:12Speaker 1: the body, and how much trauma you know, our mothers
- 43:16Speaker 1: and grandmothers and you know, go all back through the
- 43:18Speaker 1: lineage was held and a lot passed on plus then
- 43:23Speaker 1: tap on how much we accumulate through our own life experience, right,
- 43:27Speaker 1: but if we aren't taught to have these conversations, like
- 43:31Speaker 1: these conversations you're having with your children and your grandchildren,
- 43:34Speaker 1: if we aren't taught to be in right relationship with
- 43:38Speaker 1: ourselves and not have shame about it, It's really interesting
- 43:41Speaker 1: the impact the implication. How much would not just heal,
- 43:48Speaker 1: but would change. I think a lot of the ways
- 43:50Speaker 1: young people maybe carry themselves and respect and honor their
- 43:54Speaker 1: own bodies, let alone other people's. And it just seems
- 43:59Speaker 1: so important what you're saying.
- 44:03Speaker 2: Even that's why you know, I'm a visionary and I'm
- 44:09Speaker 2: always you know, I've just learned recently that you know
- 44:12Speaker 2: my in calendar that I'm a white souln wizard, and
- 44:18Speaker 2: that means that I dream a lot. I dream, I
- 44:22Speaker 2: have dreams and visions, and I'm already in those visions,
- 44:26Speaker 2: and I see. My My charge is to stop the
- 44:31Speaker 2: me to movement through awareness and conversations in the homes.
- 44:38Speaker 2: Because even now with my grandson seventeen more and today,
- 44:45Speaker 2: you know, and what the world have shown them in
- 44:49Speaker 2: social media and everything has shown them what sexuality is
- 44:52Speaker 2: and what it is not right, you know, and my
- 44:55Speaker 2: conversation with them in a home, they don't hear it
- 44:58Speaker 2: outside with their friends, you know. I told him, I said,
- 45:00Speaker 2: whenever you at seventeen, I'm thinking about my age when
- 45:04Speaker 2: I was seventeen to twenty one. Your sexual energy is
- 45:07Speaker 2: so strong, you know, it's so strong, and even before then, younger,
- 45:14Speaker 2: your sexual energy, the energy is so powerful and so
- 45:17Speaker 2: strong and too you feel like you've got to do
- 45:20Speaker 2: something with it, you know. And when somebody brings that
- 45:25Speaker 2: closeness to you, you think that's love, you know, because
- 45:29Speaker 2: that energy is so strong. And when we have these
- 45:32Speaker 2: conversations in the home and we're taught I've studied it
- 45:36Speaker 2: dow of sexuality. We're taught that men they die every
- 45:41Speaker 2: time they release, you know, and if they are taught
- 45:46Speaker 2: to hold in and hold it in and nurture it
- 45:48Speaker 2: from the end, we're taught we need to be taught
- 45:52Speaker 2: the spiritual anatomy. That part. We know about the physical anatomy, yes,
- 45:57Speaker 2: but the spiritual anatomy. We know how to channel that
- 46:00Speaker 2: energy into creative energy. So my conversation with my teenage
- 46:04Speaker 2: grands children is when you somebody approach you in it
- 46:09Speaker 2: to connect with you physically, you got to think about
- 46:11Speaker 2: what am I bill to create? Right this is creative energy.
- 46:17Speaker 2: And how many households have this conversation, I don't mind.
- 46:21Speaker 2: It ain't growing up, no, So it's to honor to
- 46:25Speaker 2: bring this awareness to every household now and making this
- 46:30Speaker 2: making planting the scene of curiosity for this to grow,
- 46:35Speaker 2: because this is the only way we'll start the generational caing.
- 46:39Speaker 1: Well, you've mentioned a little bit. You kind of mentioned
- 46:41Speaker 1: it earlier your ebooks, So I do want to ask
- 46:44Speaker 1: you about that because and I want to talk about
- 46:47Speaker 1: the different ways people can work with you. But one
- 46:49Speaker 1: of the ways you're sharing your work is through the ebooks,
- 46:52Speaker 1: So could you tell us a little bit about those
- 46:54Speaker 1: and where people can get them.
- 46:57Speaker 2: Yes, the e book is it's about turning your home
- 47:00Speaker 2: to a moone lodge, and it's coming out on a
- 47:01Speaker 2: book book book form, and it's really it's a work book.
- 47:06Speaker 2: Put everything in there, and now it's being upgraded. It's
- 47:13Speaker 2: really going to make it easier for parents to just
- 47:16Speaker 2: go and use it. And it has near the different sections.
- 47:20Speaker 2: Red is for birth and women, Pink is for the
- 47:22Speaker 2: young girls just coming into this cycle, all for women
- 47:26Speaker 2: just coming to this awareness and want to celebrate themselves,
- 47:29Speaker 2: and purple is for menopause, you know, and because it's
- 47:34Speaker 2: not really the end of life, it's the beginning, a
- 47:37Speaker 2: new beginning, a new way of listening to yourself and
- 47:40Speaker 2: really leaning into what you want to experience. And then
- 47:45Speaker 2: the blue is for the men in our lives that
- 47:48Speaker 2: can hold space for us. But they also each one
- 47:51Speaker 2: have to know in the book being taught and guide
- 47:54Speaker 2: it to take care of yourself first from full cup,
- 47:57Speaker 2: so you can share with others. So the men make
- 48:01Speaker 2: it they can see that how caring for themselves is
- 48:05Speaker 2: so necessary. When I talk to my my my bonus daughters,
- 48:10Speaker 2: my daughter in laws, they talk about how they see
- 48:15Speaker 2: my sons take care of themselves. They learned that they
- 48:18Speaker 2: I was able to model that for them, and they
- 48:21Speaker 2: put them bigger bigg into taking in the mid baths.
- 48:25Speaker 2: And and my my daughter in law said, well, they
- 48:27Speaker 2: put more cocoa butter on themselves than they do on me,
- 48:30Speaker 2: you know, So they already into that for themselves first,
- 48:34Speaker 2: and then they could share with you and teach you,
- 48:37Speaker 2: you know. So this book is laid out, It's laid
- 48:40Speaker 2: out how everybody can take care of themselves. And then
- 48:44Speaker 2: listen to the voice of the wife of the woman
- 48:46Speaker 2: of the house. When mommy's happy, everybody's happy. When mommy's
- 48:51Speaker 2: not happy, you know, the whole house is in trouble.
- 48:55Speaker 2: So this is the way that we honor the feminine
- 48:58Speaker 2: aspect of all of us. And now, but everything happened
- 49:03Speaker 2: in the world, we all are being full to soften
- 49:06Speaker 2: and nurture ourselves war than ever before. Yes, so yes,
- 49:11Speaker 2: you can get an e book form or you can
- 49:13Speaker 2: get it in book form, but please get it. You
- 49:16Speaker 2: get it into the home of the book. Do you
- 49:18Speaker 2: have a turning your home into a moon lodge?
- 49:21Speaker 1: Turning your home into a molage?
- 49:23Speaker 2: Okay, when you think about a moon lodge, you think
- 49:25Speaker 2: about your great great grandmother's home where everything is plant based,
- 49:32Speaker 2: you know, and the aroma in the essence is from
- 49:36Speaker 2: the flowers in from the earth, and it's soft, and
- 49:40Speaker 2: it's it's cozy, and everything you need is in the house.
- 49:44Speaker 2: Before we had doctors and all of these degrees, we
- 49:49Speaker 2: had the Shamans. We had the medicine women. You know.
- 49:53Speaker 2: I was telling the elder that the other day, and
- 49:55Speaker 2: she's like, we are they now? I said, we are they.
- 49:59Speaker 2: We are the Shamans, We are the medicine women. We
- 50:01Speaker 2: are the priests. We are the protectors, were the providers,
- 50:05Speaker 2: you know, So we have to really go inside and
- 50:08Speaker 2: fill our costs. Speakers, we need it more than ever.
- 50:12Speaker 2: We have to stay out of the hospitals. You know
- 50:16Speaker 2: my other burgs. I don't know. I was young, but
- 50:18Speaker 2: I knew the labor at home. I only went there
- 50:21Speaker 2: in time to deliver. Yeah, we got to go back
- 50:24Speaker 2: to that.
- 50:25Speaker 1: Well, you do teach a lot about this too, and
- 50:28Speaker 1: we didn't really get into email. You spoke a little
- 50:31Speaker 1: bit about doing womb work, but what are the different
- 50:36Speaker 1: modalities that you're teaching now that you're helping people learn.
- 50:40Speaker 1: I know you teach reiki classes, but you also refer
- 50:43Speaker 1: to yourself as a womb reiki master. So yeah, we
- 50:48Speaker 1: can work with you.
- 50:49Speaker 2: Oh Reggie reiki Reiki Reiki will expand whatever your designs are.
- 50:55Speaker 2: And for me, you know, when I became a reiki
- 50:59Speaker 2: student back in twenty seventeen and then the raky mass
- 51:03Speaker 2: in twenty nineteen, I was thinking that the right all
- 51:06Speaker 2: of this out used to come on downloads earlier, they
- 51:08Speaker 2: got double downloaded for in fact, that's time. It's the
- 51:11Speaker 2: same out of me. I was like, I used to
- 51:14Speaker 2: you all feel a way because I didn't finish college
- 51:17Speaker 2: and I was like I can't write, and this and
- 51:19Speaker 2: that the other, all of that went out the window.
- 51:22Speaker 2: Like they said, Reiki will take ex being the light
- 51:27Speaker 2: in you, and all of those doubts and can't dos,
- 51:31Speaker 2: they just don't matter anymore, you know I and I
- 51:34Speaker 2: was able to, you know, really deep dive into what
- 51:37Speaker 2: I wanted to offer, and I really want to offer
- 51:40Speaker 2: on everyone the chance to connect with themselves. And we
- 51:45Speaker 2: do that in several different ways. On Tuesday nights, we
- 51:47Speaker 2: give a harder breathing class. And the harder it's just
- 51:51Speaker 2: the point below your neighbor. It's the center of your claw.
- 51:56Speaker 2: It's in your womb. Yes, it's in your womb, and
- 51:59Speaker 2: just by breathing into that space, you can just soften
- 52:03Speaker 2: and release all of those trauma memories that live there,
- 52:08Speaker 2: open the space for more love.
- 52:11Speaker 1: And that sounds so good. So it's the hotter breathing
- 52:13Speaker 1: classes out online or.
- 52:15Speaker 2: Do we have to be It's just it's on zoom,
- 52:18Speaker 2: it's on Zone. You could just go to the website
- 52:20Speaker 2: and register and tap in every Tuesday at nine pm
- 52:27Speaker 2: e s T. And that is I offer that because
- 52:33Speaker 2: that could be done by any member of the family,
- 52:35Speaker 2: not only women, but men too. That space is within
- 52:40Speaker 2: all of us, and they have a whole nother story
- 52:43Speaker 2: about what LIFs in there in this space, and they
- 52:48Speaker 2: may not have a womb, but you know, that's the
- 52:50Speaker 2: center point of the call where we hold everything in.
- 52:53Speaker 2: Male female doesn't matter, Yeah, you know, and we can
- 52:57Speaker 2: unpack it and change the stories and get me these
- 53:00Speaker 2: and really put more joy there and more creativity there
- 53:04Speaker 2: and more ideas that we can live with that will
- 53:07Speaker 2: bring bring us more joy. Yes, so we offer dad,
- 53:12Speaker 2: offer her move poon consentation. Like I said, let's sit
- 53:17Speaker 2: down with couples. And I had some beautiful testimonies too,
- 53:22Speaker 2: where the couples come on and the wife be talking
- 53:25Speaker 2: about what she'd be going through and and helping us
- 53:28Speaker 2: the husband understand what weeks to work with her, what
- 53:31Speaker 2: weeks you can you know, and just let him, let
- 53:35Speaker 2: him learn how to know her cycles. I like post
- 53:38Speaker 2: it up every time you have a difficulty acts her,
- 53:42Speaker 2: know her cycle, When what week is she in, what season?
- 53:46Speaker 2: If she's in her fall week, don't ask for more
- 53:50Speaker 2: than she can give. Listen if she's in her one
- 53:52Speaker 2: two weeks, Serve her she's in her spring and summer.
- 53:56Speaker 2: You can go whatever, because she'd be able to handle it.
- 53:59Speaker 2: She's stronger than you know, would give us at least
- 54:02Speaker 2: a few days out of the all and when to weak,
- 54:05Speaker 2: to be nurtured or be by a soul, you know,
- 54:09Speaker 2: the main I hear so many of my friends say,
- 54:12Speaker 2: I'm like, what did you do for mother days? Like
- 54:13Speaker 2: my time? But I just wanted time, you know. They
- 54:16Speaker 2: didn't want to go out. Just give me some time alone. Yeah,
- 54:20Speaker 2: with myself. Don't ask me for nohing today, you know?
- 54:24Speaker 2: How about that? I'm like, we're raising my kids. When
- 54:27Speaker 2: I close the door, they know not to not to knock.
- 54:31Speaker 2: It was my time and I used to love it.
- 54:33Speaker 2: I'm an introvert, extrovert, so if I go inside, you
- 54:36Speaker 2: could get more of me outside, you know. So that's
- 54:40Speaker 2: when I.
- 54:40Speaker 1: Think of how hard it is for people and women
- 54:43Speaker 1: a lot of times to say what they need and
- 54:47Speaker 1: I might alone recognize it for ourselves, but then to
- 54:50Speaker 1: even ask for it or to say out loud and
- 54:52Speaker 1: not feel guilt or not feel shamed. Right, So yeah,
- 54:56Speaker 1: it's really really powerful everything that you I'm sure light
- 55:00Speaker 1: bulbs are going off for all the people listening. But yeah,
- 55:05Speaker 1: this is really really powerful and I can't wait to
- 55:08Speaker 1: read your book turning your home into a moon Lodge.
- 55:12Speaker 1: Because again, even what you shared in the book that
- 55:15Speaker 1: Mama Ifatitle put together, that all of us got to
- 55:18Speaker 1: contribute to it made me so curious and so I'm
- 55:22Speaker 1: so thankful that you did take the time to come
- 55:24Speaker 1: and expand on what your work is about and all
- 55:27Speaker 1: that you do before we wrap up, because I know
- 55:31Speaker 1: and I look how fast the time goes. Could you
- 55:34Speaker 1: tell everyone the website the best way to connect with you.
- 55:39Speaker 2: You could connect with me and my website is www

- 56:07Speaker 2: at least one. You get lucky if you get two.
- 56:11Speaker 2: But it's one in every family that looks through the
- 56:13Speaker 2: family line and say no, I don't want to do
- 56:16Speaker 2: it like that. I'm not doing it like that. And
- 56:19Speaker 2: I even go further, I'm like, I don't want to
- 56:22Speaker 2: I want to do everything I need to do this
- 56:24Speaker 2: lifetime because I don't want to tell that to you
- 56:26Speaker 2: and do this like this. Gang. I'm not coming back
- 56:30Speaker 2: here doing it like this again. So let me address
- 56:33Speaker 2: everything I can on my own so I can raise

- 56:42Speaker 2: not like this. That is so free.
- 56:44Speaker 1: That's what I always say. I don't want to repeat it.
