- 1:13Speaker 1: returning to the podcast. Today's guest is Mr. Dustin Poirier.
- 1:24Speaker 2: I'll sit and tell you my stories. Shine on me.
- 1:28Speaker 2: And I.
- 1:31Speaker 3: Will find a song.
- 1:33Speaker 2: I've been singing. For the ass. How's Louisiana been treating
- 1:44Speaker 2: you guys? Eating some good food. I saw the crawfish.
- 1:56Speaker 2: Right now, it's big crawfish time. Yeah.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Yeah, we had some crawfish, man. We had some crawfish
- 2:02Speaker 1: the other day. Some of them, though, the size disparity,
- 2:06Speaker 1: that's where it's tough to know. Like, do you get
- 2:09Speaker 1: specifically the big ones from somebody you know, or how
- 2:11Speaker 1: do you guys do it over there?
- 2:13Speaker 2: Pablito has his own. Oh, yeah. Yeah, he has his
- 2:15Speaker 2: own farm. Is it open now?
- 2:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Yeah, he's running it. Wow. Bring you however many sacks
- 2:19Speaker 2: you need, man.
- 2:20Speaker 4: Is uh is not not his pit stop not his
- 2:22Speaker 4: store his family owns crawfish ponds.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Oh i didn't even know that dang i'm about to
- 2:29Speaker 1: get a hold of some of those um dustin poirier
- 2:31Speaker 1: welcome bro thanks man good to be back yeah good
- 2:34Speaker 1: to see you dude how's uh you guys just went
- 2:36Speaker 1: skiing or.
- 2:36Speaker 4: Yeah we went up to aspen with my wife and
- 2:38Speaker 4: daughter um spent four days up there and it snowed
- 2:41Speaker 4: the whole time weather was great man oh that's nice
- 2:44Speaker 4: travel back wasn't as great got got stuck in uh
- 2:47Speaker 4: oklahoma we were going to dallas Had to circle for
- 2:50Speaker 4: 20 minutes in the air. Then they didn't let us land,
- 2:52Speaker 4: so we went to Oklahoma. We were running low on fuel,
- 2:54Speaker 4: so we sat on the runway there. I was in
- 2:56Speaker 4: that plane for like six hours, and two of it
- 2:58Speaker 4: was in the air.
- 2:59Speaker 2: So I was on, yeah. Yeah, that's... But we made it, man.
- 3:03Speaker 2: That's alarming, bro.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Yeah, something the other day, we landed real fast and
- 3:07Speaker 1: then took off again.
- 3:08Speaker 2: You ever had that happen? No. Yeah.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Yeah, did you guys... What kind of skiing you do
- 3:13Speaker 1: out there? You ski, you snowboard? What's it like out
- 3:16Speaker 1: there for... What diamonds are you doing out there? Dude,
- 3:20Speaker 1: I'm doing the bunny slopes. Really?
- 3:22Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't want to blow my back up. Yeah,
- 3:26Speaker 4: my daughter, this is her second time skiing, so she's
- 3:28Speaker 4: picking it up. My wife, this was her first time.
- 3:31Speaker 4: Last time we went, she snowboarded with me. I didn't
- 3:33Speaker 4: ski this time. I didn't want to bust myself up.
- 3:35Speaker 4: I did sledding, tubing, stuff like that, ice skating.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Yeah, because some people say snow is just gay water. Hey, perspective.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Could be.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Oh, I think, yeah, because it's just like if you
- 3:51Speaker 1: look at it like it just has a flake, some of.
- 3:52Speaker 2: The bitches are. Yeah, a little feminine. They nice.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Do you guys have contracts in UFC where
- 4:01Speaker 1: you can't do certain sports? Are there things that you
- 4:02Speaker 1: guys are not allowed to do? I've heard that in
- 4:05Speaker 1: our contracts.
- 4:05Speaker 4: I haven't seen it, but I've heard that in our
- 4:07Speaker 4: contracts there's something with like extreme sports, maybe motorcycles and
- 4:11Speaker 4: things like that.
- 4:11Speaker 2: But I haven't. I just do everything normal. I don't
- 4:14Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 4:15Speaker 1: Yeah, it's interesting because you guys are one of those
- 4:16Speaker 1: few sports where it's like, yeah, because Sean Strickland's on
- 4:19Speaker 1: his motorcycle every day, blatantly telling people he's going hundreds
- 4:24Speaker 1: of miles an hour.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Yeah, and I believe him. Yeah, I believe him too, yeah.
- 4:30Speaker 1: But yeah, that's pretty wild that you guys are just
- 4:32Speaker 1: able to just be totally free like that. I had
- 4:34Speaker 1: a motorcycle for a while when I lived in Florida,
- 4:37Speaker 1: and I ended up selling it. I only had it
- 4:39Speaker 1: for like six months maybe. You ever lay it down? No, never,
- 4:42Speaker 1: but it just felt too dangerous, man.
- 4:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Yeah. I was scared every time I was riding. Oh yeah, bro.
- 4:47Speaker 1: But you know, most organ donors, uh, are motorcyclists.
- 4:50Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 4:51Speaker 4: Like, uh, I just did my, uh, ID recently. I
- 4:53Speaker 4: had to update it to the real ID, the new thing.
- 4:56Speaker 4: And my wife was with me. She was like, no, don't,
- 4:57Speaker 4: don't say you're an organ donor. I'm like, well, I mean,
- 4:59Speaker 4: I don't, I got the goods. You can have them
- 5:01Speaker 4: if I can't use them, you know?
- 5:02Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:02Speaker 4: But she said, she was like, no, I'm telling you,
- 5:04Speaker 4: if you get an accident and they go to the
- 5:05Speaker 4: hospital and see it, that your organ donor, they're not
- 5:07Speaker 4: going to work as hard on you because they want
- 5:09Speaker 4: those organs.
- 5:09Speaker 1: I'm like, oh man, that's what I hear is these bro.
- 5:11Speaker 1: That's what I hear. conspiracies look that up nick i
- 5:14Speaker 1: wonder if that's true or not they'll never tell you
- 5:16Speaker 1: man dude i uh actually while i'm thinking about it
- 5:19Speaker 1: if something ever happened to you god forbid right can
- 5:22Speaker 1: i have one of your hands i won't do nothing
- 5:26Speaker 1: weird with it i promise it's just for i'll keep
- 5:29Speaker 1: it in like a uh little cage or what you
- 5:33Speaker 1: know like maybe the left left one bet yeah thanks
- 5:35Speaker 1: dude now look if it gets out at night and
- 5:37Speaker 1: beats up a neighbor that's.
- 5:38Speaker 2: What i'm saying What, like Adam's family, It? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like da-na-na-na. It just fucking starts popping off, bro.
- 5:47Speaker 1: Or if it wakes up in the middle of the night,
- 5:49Speaker 1: it starts cooking up a roo.
- 5:50Speaker 2: Bro, I'll tell you what, man. I'm part of the
- 5:51Speaker 2: roo-tank clan. Protect your neck.
- 5:55Speaker 1: What does this say? What does this say, Nick? There
- 5:58Speaker 1: is an age-limited organ.
- 6:01Speaker 2: Myth, religion. See, I never heard of this when my
- 6:03Speaker 2: wife was... With me at the DMV. Oh, here's the
- 6:06Speaker 2: myth right here.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Doctors don't work as hard to save the lives of
- 6:08Speaker 1: registered organ donors. Fact, if you are sick or injured,
- 6:13Speaker 1: the first priority of your hospital care team is to
- 6:16Speaker 1: save your life. Organ donation is only considered when all
- 6:18Speaker 1: efforts to save a patient have been exhausted.
- 6:22Speaker 2: That secondhand market, man. Yeah.
- 6:25Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Yeah, that secondhand market, bro. Oh, especially, dude, if they
- 6:28Speaker 1: know it's you, probably.
- 6:29Speaker 4: I mean, my liver's taking probably a little bit of abuse,
- 6:32Speaker 4: but like, Heart and stuff is good.
- 6:34Speaker 2: Oh, dude. Yeah. They're going to get at least for
- 6:37Speaker 2: Poirier's heart.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. They're going to cop 40, 50K on that.
- 6:41Speaker 2: For sure.
- 6:42Speaker 4: Easy.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Easy. On Etsy, you could probably get 60K. Yeah, man.
- 6:47Speaker 2: That's easy, man.
- 6:49Speaker 4: Speaking of Etsy, speaking of stuff like that, eBay. You know,
- 6:52Speaker 4: we auctioned off the fight kits for the foundation. Somebody
- 6:55Speaker 4: outbid everybody, you know, so they had a bunch of
- 6:57Speaker 4: real bidders and then didn't pay. So now I got
- 6:59Speaker 4: to relist it. It just sucks because... You know, we
- 7:01Speaker 4: listed the week after the fight when momentum and, you know,
- 7:03Speaker 4: the fight's fresh. Now we've got to relist it. I
- 7:06Speaker 4: just hope it raises the same amount of money.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:08Speaker 1: I think it will, man. We'll make sure to make
- 7:10Speaker 1: a bid. How much did they, what purchase price did
- 7:12Speaker 1: they get it at?
- 7:13Speaker 2: Maybe $ 11, 000 or $ 12, 000, I think, which is good because
- 7:17Speaker 2: we're trying to raise $ 50, 000 for the food net in Lafayette. Okay, bet.
- 7:21Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a great, I think that's a great thing
- 7:24Speaker 1: to have, you know. According to the widely used, although
- 7:28Speaker 1: somewhat hard to find, credit for figures, a heart is worth.
- 7:30Speaker 2: Around $ 1 million in the U.S. On the black market.
- 7:35Speaker 2: On the black market. Wow.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Livers come in second, worth around $ 557, 000. Kidneys cost about $ 262, 000 each.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Human skin, if you want to do it all, Dustin,
- 7:47Speaker 1: I don't know what type of.
- 7:48Speaker 2: $ 10 an inch? $ 10 an inch, bro. Now look. Hey, hey. Look, look. Hey.
- 7:54Speaker 4: Hey.
- 7:55Speaker 2: There's going to be a limited amount of that. That's
- 7:57Speaker 2: all I'm saying, if it's me dying, bro.
- 8:00Speaker 1: Stomach, 500. Eyeballs, 1,500 each, though. Wow, that's crazy. And
- 8:05Speaker 1: this is off of the black market? Nick, or is this.
- 8:10Speaker 2: Is this 2024 prices? Yeah. Yesterday's price.
- 8:14Speaker 3: They're saying it's from a cadaver broker, so it's not like... Obviously,
- 8:17Speaker 3: no one's taking official stats here, but based on their
- 8:20Speaker 3: research of cadaver brokers, those are the prices.
- 8:22Speaker 2: Okay. I have a cadaver... In my nose.
- 8:25Speaker 4: Really?
- 8:25Speaker 2: Yeah, somebody's rib. Uh-uh. Yeah, cartilage. Dang. That's biblical, I think,
- 8:30Speaker 2: isn't it?
- 8:30Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Well, if you, yeah.
- 8:32Speaker 1: I've done cocaine off a Bible that's kind of similar.
- 8:34Speaker 1: It's not the same thing that you have going on, but.
- 8:37Speaker 2: No, no. And we shouldn't have done it, bro. Yeah,
- 8:39Speaker 2: or you shouldn't have admitted it. Yeah. That's too late.
- 8:42Speaker 2: One or the other, dude. Did you see the new Roadhouse? No,
- 8:48Speaker 2: I haven't, but I will. I will watch it. I've
- 8:49Speaker 2: been traveling so much, man.
- 8:50Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 8:51Speaker 2: Yeah. You guys have been busy since your fight. Every week.
- 8:54Speaker 2: In LA.
- 8:55Speaker 4: Yeah, I was shooting some stuff out there. Last week, Aspen.
- 8:59Speaker 4: The week before, Carolina. This week in Indiana, I think,
- 9:02Speaker 4: for Anthony Pettis.
- 9:04Speaker 2: Oh, he's fighting?
- 9:04Speaker 4: He's got his own promotion, and I'm a guest appearance there,
- 9:07Speaker 4: so that'll be cool. Connecticut the weekend after. And are
- 9:12Speaker 4: you cornering somebody over there? No, just watching fights.
- 9:15Speaker 2: Dang. Yeah. That's busy, man. Yeah, you didn't see the movie,
- 9:20Speaker 2: but you'll see it, though? Yeah, I'll watch it. I
- 9:22Speaker 2: just haven't had time to really... Yeah.
- 9:24Speaker 1: Do you think... What movie would you be in, you think?
- 9:28Speaker 1: You think you would ever be.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Well, you just.
- 9:29Speaker 4: I know you were out in L.A. You were doing
- 9:30Speaker 4: a movie, right? Yeah, we were filming a commercial for
- 9:32Speaker 4: the movie Monkey Man. I don't know a whole lot
- 9:35Speaker 4: about it, but it looks pretty good.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Yeah? Yeah.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Do you think that's something you, like, think about for yourself,
- 9:41Speaker 1: or is it just, like, a fun thing that kind
- 9:43Speaker 1: of happened? Like, I know Conor's in this movie, Conor McGregor.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Do you think about that for yourself, or.
- 9:49Speaker 4: I'd like to. You know, it's something different. Like, It's
- 9:51Speaker 4: exciting because I've never done it before. It's a new challenge.
- 9:53Speaker 4: It keeps me busy. I got to be busy, man.
- 9:55Speaker 4: That's my thing. I got to be busy. If I'm
- 9:57Speaker 4: not getting ready to fight somebody, and I've said this
- 9:58Speaker 4: a thousand times, I have to have some kind of obstacle,
- 10:01Speaker 4: you know, to in front of me. So if I'm
- 10:03Speaker 4: trying to do movies or grow my businesses, I just
- 10:06Speaker 4: need to be in action, you know?
- 10:07Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. That's how you feel. Have to. Yeah.
- 10:10Speaker 1: You just, there's no, if you get complacent or if you, why, what.
- 10:15Speaker 4: I'm like, it's honestly, bro, I'm a danger to myself
- 10:17Speaker 4: when I'm, have nothing, no, no goal circled on my calendar.
- 10:20Speaker 2: I'm a danger to myself, man. Yeah.
- 10:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:22Speaker 2: I beat, I beat myself up mentally. I'm home. I drink. I'm,
- 10:26Speaker 2: it's just not good. I have to have some kind
- 10:28Speaker 2: of battle.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 10:29Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 10:29Speaker 2: Hmm. And I've always been like that, but like, as
- 10:31Speaker 2: I'm getting older, I'm kind of recognizing, Oh, you can
- 10:33Speaker 2: see it more. Yeah. So I kind of set, set goals.
- 10:36Speaker 2: So I stay busy, you know? Oh, that's interesting. Yeah. Yeah.
- 10:39Speaker 1: Cause I know when the last, uh, yeah, I know
- 10:41Speaker 1: whenever you came off of, um, the Gaethje fight, you
- 10:44Speaker 1: were kind of in a tough spot, I guess at times,
- 10:47Speaker 1: it's Oh, big time, man.
- 10:48Speaker 4: That was probably like one of the lowest points of
- 10:50Speaker 4: my life, you know, mentally. I really felt down.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Did you feel like, so, because now you're in a
- 10:57Speaker 1: place that feels different.
- 10:59Speaker 4: Yeah, back in the win column, everything feels like it's
- 11:02Speaker 4: in the motion like it should be.
- 11:03Speaker 2: You know, I just felt out of sync with life
- 11:06Speaker 2: after that last fight.
- 11:08Speaker 1: Yeah, do you think that it's like, because yeah, I'll
- 11:12Speaker 1: like a lot of times determine how I feel about
- 11:14Speaker 1: myself based on what is happening like in my career
- 11:19Speaker 1: or in my, uh, social life sometimes, or how I
- 11:23Speaker 1: think people are perceiving me, you know, like, do you
- 11:26Speaker 1: notice for yourself? Was any of that like about, did
- 11:29Speaker 1: you feel like you were depressed? Did you feel like
- 11:30Speaker 1: it was like, like, were you able to get any
- 11:34Speaker 1: perspective on like what made you feel bad kind of?
- 11:39Speaker 2: No, I don't think I like pinpointed what really brought
- 11:41Speaker 2: me down.
- 11:42Speaker 4: Obviously getting kicked in the head wasn't good, but, uh, sorry.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:45Speaker 2: Yeah. I didn't want to laugh, but God just made
- 11:48Speaker 2: me laugh.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Yeah. Uh, it was just a lot of things, you know?
- 11:52Speaker 4: And like, I think I might've text you after as well,
- 11:55Speaker 4: after that fight, like I worked so hard to like
- 11:57Speaker 4: build myself up and be successful and have a career
- 11:59Speaker 4: and fighting stuff, you know? And I feel like I've
- 12:02Speaker 4: got myself to a point where, where I'm respected by
- 12:04Speaker 4: my peers and fighting and stuff like that. And I
- 12:06Speaker 4: feel like when I got home from that loss, it
- 12:08Speaker 4: was like the world was just going to throw me away.
- 12:10Speaker 4: Remember when I text you that, that's how I felt.
- 12:11Speaker 4: It's like, I worked so hard and, and one night
- 12:14Speaker 4: you feel like, boom, everybody's throwing you away now. You know,
- 12:16Speaker 4: like everything I've done before that feels like it doesn't matter.
- 12:20Speaker 4: You know, it just sucks. It was like a bad
- 12:21Speaker 4: place to be in, in myself, you know, waking up
- 12:25Speaker 4: every morning. I was just not happy.
- 12:27Speaker 1: Wonder what makes us feel like that. Cause I can
- 12:29Speaker 1: totally relate to that, man. Like if it doesn't go good,
- 12:31Speaker 1: then I don't have, I'm not worth anything. Right.
- 12:34Speaker 2: I just feel, is that what it felt like?
- 12:35Speaker 4: Yeah. Yeah.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 12:37Speaker 4: And in fighting, like they say, you're only as good
- 12:39Speaker 4: as your last fight. And then that's, that's where the world,
- 12:41Speaker 4: thinks about you your last performance you know getting knocked
- 12:44Speaker 4: out after i built myself up so long so many
- 12:46Speaker 4: crazy fights and you know the struggle and the grind
- 12:49Speaker 4: to get there it just feels like boom now everybody's
- 12:51Speaker 4: looking at me like that and just throwing me away
- 12:53Speaker 4: damn but that's why i put my nose to the
- 12:55Speaker 4: grindstone this last one and went out there and touched
- 12:57Speaker 4: that guy up.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Yeah yeah and what it is so like when you
- 13:01Speaker 1: when you start like if because i think so many
- 13:03Speaker 1: people can relate to that man i mean i totally
- 13:05Speaker 1: can like i remember we're kind of texting about it
- 13:07Speaker 1: like yeah like i would pin so many of my
- 13:11Speaker 1: uh like who I feel like I am on how
- 13:14Speaker 1: I do.
- 13:15Speaker 3: Right.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Right.
- 13:16Speaker 1: Or like, um, but then I'll start feeling like, like,
- 13:20Speaker 1: how did you, uh, like, how, like, how did you
- 13:24Speaker 1: notice when it got like too hectic or did you, um,
- 13:28Speaker 1: what do you do to start to turn that around?
- 13:32Speaker 2: You know, my, my wife really helped me out through
- 13:33Speaker 2: this last one.
- 13:34Speaker 4: Um, putting things in perspective, like, like we were saying,
- 13:37Speaker 4: you feel like, the fight is your life, but it's
- 13:40Speaker 4: just something I do. I'm a father, a husband, a friend,
- 13:45Speaker 4: a business owner, a son, a brother. That's who I am.
- 13:48Speaker 4: Fighting is just something I do. So if you put
- 13:50Speaker 4: it in perspective like that, and I kind of switched
- 13:52Speaker 4: my mindset of like, everything's an experience. I'm thankful I
- 13:56Speaker 4: got to experience that fight week and the downs and
- 13:59Speaker 4: the ups of fight week. And losing sucks, but I
- 14:02Speaker 4: got to fly home in a different perspective, looking back, because...
- 14:06Speaker 4: Losing sucks, especially when you work so hard and fighting.
- 14:09Speaker 4: Everything's into it. I put myself into this for real.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Oh, yeah. I remember sitting in your green room after
- 14:15Speaker 2: we were all sitting in there.
- 14:16Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Literally, it felt like we were at a funeral in
- 14:22Speaker 1: a weird way, but you were right there.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:24Speaker 1: It just felt like everybody felt. I told everybody that
- 14:27Speaker 1: in there. I said, Dave, this ain't a funeral.
- 14:29Speaker 2: You're like, you're going around trying to boost people's youth.
- 14:33Speaker 2: You're like, hey, I'm still. You put on a black
- 14:34Speaker 2: suit and stuff. Yeah, I'm still here. I don't even
- 14:37Speaker 2: know where you got it.
- 14:38Speaker 1: We're all singing, I can still hear Mama praying.
- 14:43Speaker 4: Somebody stood up and was like, he was a good man.
- 14:45Speaker 2: I'm like, I'm right here, bro. I'm right here.
- 14:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that was somebody trying to flirt with
- 14:51Speaker 1: your wife at the event, too.
- 14:53Speaker 2: I don't know. That might have been Sabah, your buddy. Yeah,
- 14:55Speaker 2: the demon. Yeah, yeah. It could have been him, bro.
- 14:57Speaker 2: It could have been the demon. He definitely loves to
- 15:01Speaker 2: meet a lady. But you know what?
- 15:03Speaker 4: Taking that last loss would really switch my mindset, man,
- 15:07Speaker 4: is I know who I am. Losing, you find out
- 15:11Speaker 4: who you are. And losing sucks, but in those moments
- 15:13Speaker 4: when you're down, it's a great time to experience you.
- 15:16Speaker 2: Because when you're winning, you can get this momentum.
- 15:18Speaker 4: When everything's going good, you can kind of get in
- 15:21Speaker 4: that groove where you're just on cruise control. But when
- 15:24Speaker 4: you lose and the phone stops ringing and you're at
- 15:26Speaker 4: home laying in bed going to sleep by yourself and everything,
- 15:29Speaker 4: the dust settles, that's when you experience yourself, who you
- 15:32Speaker 4: really are. And I think that's important.
- 15:35Speaker 1: Yeah, was that tough? Yeah, that's scary because every moment
- 15:39Speaker 1: of silence thing, you kind of... If something like that
- 15:43Speaker 1: happens to me, like I have something that's not good
- 15:45Speaker 1: or feels like it's not good, I don't get the
- 15:46Speaker 1: outcome that I want, any silence I hear after that,
- 15:49Speaker 1: I always just, it feels like, yeah, that nothing's, like,
- 15:55Speaker 1: it feels like the phone isn't ringing. But even it's
- 15:57Speaker 1: just silence. It's just normal silence. But in my head,
- 16:00Speaker 1: I feel like, oh, the phone ain't ringing, you know?
- 16:02Speaker 1: That's when reality really sets in, you know?
- 16:04Speaker 4: Like when you're around a bunch of people after a
- 16:07Speaker 4: loss and you're talking and everybody's, you know, Keeping you busy,
- 16:09Speaker 4: your mind's busy, but then you go back to your
- 16:11Speaker 4: house and you're by yourself, you know, and you look
- 16:13Speaker 4: in the mirror and it's just you.
- 16:14Speaker 2: Like, that's when it's real. Yeah. Yeah, that's when the
- 16:17Speaker 2: phone's not ringing. Yeah.
- 16:20Speaker 1: What, yeah, how rough did it get? Like, was there
- 16:23Speaker 1: a moment where you're like, okay, I got to get
- 16:25Speaker 1: some help? Like, what kind of help did you get?
- 16:27Speaker 4: I started doing therapy. I went to speak to a therapist. Yeah,
- 16:31Speaker 4: there were some nights where I just got up and
- 16:34Speaker 4: left my house. Like, I couldn't be here. I just
- 16:36Speaker 4: got up and left my house and went to get
- 16:37Speaker 4: a hotel room, you know. Got in my truck and
- 16:40Speaker 4: just left.
- 16:42Speaker 2: I don't know why. I don't have any reason why.
- 16:43Speaker 2: I just felt like I had to. It was crazy, man.
- 16:46Speaker 2: I was going through it. Yeah?
- 16:47Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 16:48Speaker 1: And do you think it was just that you were
- 16:49Speaker 1: feeling like... Was some of it medical or CTE related,
- 16:56Speaker 1: do you think? Do you have any perspective on what
- 16:58Speaker 1: it was, kind of? Or do you think it was just...
- 17:01Speaker 1: I mean, it could have been all of that. I
- 17:03Speaker 1: definitely have head trauma. I have 50 fights.
- 17:06Speaker 2: Yeah, and you were... Yeah, and you're from frickin'... Youngsville.
- 17:11Speaker 2: From Lafayette. Yeah. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. Yeah. But yeah, we
- 17:14Speaker 2: all have head trauma. I mean, look, bro, you born
- 17:16Speaker 2: in Louisiana.
- 17:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:17Speaker 2: You come out with head trauma, bro. That's on the report.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:20Speaker 2: I'm sure it could have been all. I don't know.
- 17:22Speaker 2: You know, I just wasn't in a good spot, but
- 17:23Speaker 2: I'm good now. That's what matters, you know?
- 17:25Speaker 1: And what about medication or something? Like I take, I
- 17:28Speaker 1: was off antidepressants for a while because I was trying
- 17:30Speaker 1: to not take them. And then I got, I was like,
- 17:33Speaker 1: I just can't do this right now. Life's too much.
- 17:36Speaker 1: I'm going to get on them. So I'm back on
- 17:39Speaker 1: right now. Um, but did you have, did you ever
- 17:42Speaker 1: try any medication or is that something that a lot
- 17:45Speaker 1: of UFC fighters do or what is that like?
- 17:48Speaker 2: I'm not sure. I mean, like the prep, we're such
- 17:51Speaker 2: tough guys fighting.
- 17:52Speaker 4: We don't really talk about that in the locker room
- 17:53Speaker 4: or in the gym. We don't talk about like, I'm
- 17:55Speaker 4: feeling down. It's just shut the hell up and work.
- 17:57Speaker 4: You know, we got work to do. You got to
- 17:58Speaker 4: fight to win. We don't sit around and hold hands
- 18:01Speaker 4: and talk about, I'm not feeling well today.
- 18:02Speaker 2: Yeah, you're right. That's a good point.
- 18:05Speaker 4: It would be nice if we opened up and kind of,
- 18:07Speaker 4: because I'm sure a lot of people are going through
- 18:08Speaker 4: it and not talking about it, but I've never been
- 18:10Speaker 4: like shied away from telling people how I feel and
- 18:13Speaker 4: stuff like that.
- 18:13Speaker 2: So I don't care. I will talk about it.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:15Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 18:17Speaker 1: I feel like you try to share when you can
- 18:19Speaker 1: about what's going on. And I think that's one thing
- 18:21Speaker 1: that's so interesting about kind of what the past like
- 18:25Speaker 1: year of your life has been like is that you
- 18:28Speaker 1: were in a space where things were so tough and
- 18:31Speaker 1: you were having a tough time and then you get
- 18:34Speaker 1: a victory and some of that goes away, but some
- 18:37Speaker 1: of it may still stick around.
- 18:38Speaker 2: So then you get some better perspective as to what
- 18:40Speaker 2: that's like, you know? Yeah.
- 18:42Speaker 4: It's just the highs and lows. Like losing is the
- 18:44Speaker 4: lowest of the low. Then you win on pay-per-view, knock
- 18:46Speaker 4: a guy out and you're back on the mountaintop. It's
- 18:48Speaker 4: just what a rollercoaster this is fighting, you know?
- 18:50Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:51Speaker 2: I'm thankful for it all though. You know, it's given
- 18:53Speaker 2: me every, given me and my family, everything we have. Yeah.
- 18:55Speaker 2: So I'm, I'm thankful for it. The good and the bad.
- 18:57Speaker 2: But I wouldn't recommend anybody seek this as a career. Really? No. Sorry.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Be a doc. Go to school. Huh? Yeah, go to school.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Go to college or something. Yeah. Maybe that's the movie
- 19:09Speaker 2: you could be in, man. It'll be like, yeah, Madea
- 19:11Speaker 2: goes to the swamp or something.
- 19:13Speaker 1: I'm trying to think of a good, since Gyllenhaal and
- 19:15Speaker 1: Connor had a movie, what would be a good Poirier movie?
- 19:19Speaker 2: Fried green cauliflower ears, maybe? That's a good one. That's
- 19:24Speaker 2: a good one. dustin goes to 10th grade we could do.
- 19:28Speaker 4: We could just do a a movie about me trying
- 19:33Speaker 4: to get my.
- 19:33Speaker 2: Ged yeah.
- 19:36Speaker 1: There's like there's some scenes where it's like you hear
- 19:39Speaker 1: a choir just i can still i can do it
- 19:44Speaker 1: man that'd be awesome i can get one um who
- 19:48Speaker 1: would play you in a movie i wonder you ever
- 19:50Speaker 1: think about that? I like Jean-Claude Van Damme. Does that
- 19:55Speaker 1: shoot too high? No, I just think, I don't know
- 19:58Speaker 1: if he can do the stuff you can. I think
- 20:00Speaker 1: he's getting older.
- 20:01Speaker 2: Yeah, he is. I'm a prime, like Bloodsport Jean-Claude Van Damme. Oh, yeah,
- 20:05Speaker 2: that would be sick.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Because one day they could make a movie about you.
- 20:09Speaker 1: You know, I mean, it could be like if I
- 20:11Speaker 1: get this.
- 20:12Speaker 4: Fucking gold belt, we're going to have to make a movie.
- 20:15Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 20:16Speaker 1: I remember coming over your house when you had the belt.
- 20:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 20:19Speaker 2: Yeah. Does it ever feel like you didn't have it?
- 20:21Speaker 1: Because there's so many like they because you're still interim champion.
- 20:28Speaker 1: It's not like champions not in it.
- 20:31Speaker 4: And I beat a current champion at the time who
- 20:33Speaker 4: was the title holder when we fought. You know, it's
- 20:36Speaker 4: just I feel like it was a world championship. but
- 20:39Speaker 4: people's opinions, you know, is, is what it is.
- 20:41Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Um, now that you have like a win and you've had,
- 20:46Speaker 1: and you're, it's a good place and it, it takes,
- 20:49Speaker 1: it like silences some of that self critic in our
- 20:53Speaker 1: head and some of that even fictional critique from other
- 20:56Speaker 1: people that some of it may be there and some
- 20:58Speaker 1: of it may not. Uh, do you, Do you feel like,
- 21:03Speaker 1: do I want to risk that again?
- 21:05Speaker 2: Like, do you think about.
- 21:06Speaker 3: That at all?
- 21:06Speaker 2: Yeah, I do. Like, where am I at if it
- 21:08Speaker 2: doesn't go my way, which is likely. You know, it's fighting.
- 21:13Speaker 2: I think I can, I know I can beat anybody
- 21:15Speaker 2: in the world. I believe in my skills. But the
- 21:17Speaker 2: margin for error out there is one mistake, you wake
- 21:20Speaker 2: up asking what happened, you know? You think you're going
- 21:23Speaker 2: to the school bus stop, you know? You wake up like,
- 21:25Speaker 2: I'm late for school. No. No, you dropped out. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sorry,
- 21:31Speaker 2: that's too many Dustin's on in school jokes.
- 21:35Speaker 1: But no, that's one of the, some of the best
- 21:37Speaker 1: stuff about your story is that you didn't even finish
- 21:40Speaker 1: high school.
- 21:41Speaker 2: Never finished ninth grade. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, man.
- 21:45Speaker 1: I always, I love you and your wife's story, man.
- 21:47Speaker 1: It's all, all of it's so hilarious to me, dude.
- 21:50Speaker 1: There's so many funny moments you guys have been through
- 21:52Speaker 1: together over the years.
- 21:53Speaker 2: Yeah, dude.
- 21:54Speaker 4: I mean, been together a long time, been living together
- 21:57Speaker 4: since we were 18. So, you know, she was there
- 21:59Speaker 4: for the whole fighting thing.
- 22:00Speaker 2: You know, journey. And, uh, it's, it's been fun, man.
- 22:03Speaker 4: I don't think I've said this before, but I don't
- 22:04Speaker 4: think I would be as successful of a fighter without her.
- 22:07Speaker 3: Oh yeah.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:08Speaker 4: Cause even like this last loss, like she, I put
- 22:11Speaker 4: her through so much stuff after that loss and she
- 22:13Speaker 4: was still there for me, you know, every day, right
- 22:16Speaker 4: by my side, like telling me I'm the best in
- 22:18Speaker 4: the world.
- 22:19Speaker 2: Oh wow. Yeah. Yeah, man. It's so important having that, huh?
- 22:23Speaker 2: For sure.
- 22:24Speaker 4: And when I was younger, dude, like I would have
- 22:26Speaker 4: been cutting up running the streets, you know, but I
- 22:28Speaker 4: had a, a mortgage and a wife at home. So
- 22:30Speaker 4: I was home every night and at the gym the
- 22:31Speaker 4: next day.
- 22:32Speaker 2: So that, you know, right. It's like a blessing. You
- 22:35Speaker 2: don't even realize. Yeah. Yeah. Cause I had, I had
- 22:37Speaker 2: to be home. Yeah. You know?
- 22:39Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 22:39Speaker 2: Cause if you had a responsibility, Oh, I would have
- 22:40Speaker 2: been drinking and partying and I didn't do that. You know?
- 22:43Speaker 1: Right.
- 22:45Speaker 2: Damn. That's true, man.
- 22:46Speaker 1: It's so many little things that are blessings that you don't,
- 22:49Speaker 1: you can't see until you get some more perspective sometimes. Right.
- 22:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:52Speaker 2: Dude, one of my, there's that picture of you at
- 22:53Speaker 2: the prom. Do they have that? When Dustin's in that white.
- 22:56Speaker 4: Uh, that was her, that was her, uh, So I
- 22:59Speaker 4: was living by myself when I had my own place
- 23:01Speaker 4: at 17 years old. And she was living with her
- 23:05Speaker 4: mom then. Yeah, that was her senior prom.
- 23:12Speaker 1: That shit is so good. Because everybody remembers the dude
- 23:15Speaker 1: that wore that to their prom. And there was only
- 23:17Speaker 1: one type of dude that rolled up like that, bro.
- 23:20Speaker 2: That's so cool. Wow, bro. Look at that. Wow. That's wild, huh?
- 23:26Speaker 2: What a journey y'all been on.
- 23:27Speaker 4: Yeah, man.
- 23:29Speaker 1: You used to fight people at the police station out
- 23:32Speaker 1: here because it would be.
- 23:33Speaker 4: So, yeah, I have fought somebody in the yard or
- 23:36Speaker 4: the grass of the police station. My place I had
- 23:39Speaker 4: when I was 17 was directly across from Lafayette Police Department.
- 23:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:43Speaker 4: And one time, this is a crazy story, but one
- 23:46Speaker 4: time we went out to a bar. My brother was
- 23:48Speaker 4: playing his guitar there or something.
- 23:50Speaker 2: And a guy I was with, I didn't really know
- 23:52Speaker 2: him well. He was a friend's friend. Yeah.
- 23:54Speaker 4: And he stole somebody's purse at the bar. And then
- 23:57Speaker 4: he got caught and called out for it, and we
- 23:59Speaker 4: were with him.
- 23:59Speaker 2: And I'm like, oh.
- 24:00Speaker 4: And then we started walking back to my house, and
- 24:02Speaker 4: we just got into it and fought.
- 24:04Speaker 2: But, yeah.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Yeah, was it fun, like those street fights? Is that
- 24:08Speaker 1: kind of more fun, or do you like having a
- 24:09Speaker 1: referee in there? I'd rather have a referee.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Yeah. Especially nowadays, man. People are shooting and stabbing. Yeah,
- 24:17Speaker 2: that's not fair.
- 24:18Speaker 4: No.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Yeah, because now you have the– you're in a space
- 24:22Speaker 1: now where you can– Dude, you can run it back, man.
- 24:26Speaker 1: You can feel like you can do it again. You can,
- 24:30Speaker 1: if you wanted to, you could retire on a high note.
- 24:32Speaker 1: People can retire whenever they want.
- 24:33Speaker 2: Yeah. When I was 18, bro, I told my wife,
- 24:36Speaker 2: we made an agreement. I wouldn't fight past 35. And
- 24:38Speaker 2: I had no, at 18, I had no idea what
- 24:40Speaker 2: 35 looked like, but now I'm 35. I'm like, oh shit,
- 24:42Speaker 2: it's here. I don't, I still feel good. I don't
- 24:43Speaker 2: want to stop, you know? So we'll see. I still
- 24:46Speaker 2: feel good. And I compete with these young guys.
- 24:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 24:48Speaker 4: I do it every day in the gym. And I
- 24:51Speaker 4: got bumps and bruises I carry from so many years
- 24:52Speaker 4: of fighting. Had a couple of surgeries, but I feel good.
- 24:55Speaker 2: So what do you think? What does it look like
- 24:57Speaker 2: for you? Like, are they pushing you?
- 24:58Speaker 1: I know you talked about fighting Hamzat.
- 25:03Speaker 2: Islam. Islam. Do you think that's going to, like, what
- 25:08Speaker 2: do you think is going to happen? We'll see, man.
- 25:10Speaker 4: I think this next pay-per-view UFC 300 is going to have.
- 25:14Speaker 2: Might be an announcement.
- 25:16Speaker 1: No, no, no.
- 25:16Speaker 2: It's in two weeks. Max Holloway's fighting Gaethje.
- 25:19Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 25:19Speaker 2: I'm going to go to it. Are you going? Nah, nah.
- 25:21Speaker 2: I'm doing a viewing party in Connecticut. Oh, okay.
- 25:23Speaker 1: Great.
- 25:24Speaker 2: Where's that at? Just so people can come check you out.
- 25:26Speaker 2: At the Mohegan Sun. Gang, gang. At the Mohegan Sun.
- 25:29Speaker 2: But there's two huge title fights on that card. I mean,
- 25:32Speaker 2: not title fights, two huge lightweight fights.
- 25:33Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. This could have a lot to do with
- 25:35Speaker 1: you guys. Harmon versus Charles and then Gaethje versus Holloway.
- 25:39Speaker 1: So that's some big fights in the division. We'll see
- 25:41Speaker 1: what happens after that.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Yeah, because- But I've fought three of those four guys already,
- 25:49Speaker 2: and two of them I fought twice. Yeah. I know, huh?
- 25:54Speaker 4: Yeah, I fought Max twice, I fought Justin twice, and
- 25:56Speaker 4: fought Charles once. Do you have, what kind of outcome
- 26:00Speaker 4: would you prefer, do you think? I don't really have a,
- 26:04Speaker 4: I think people are kind of looking past Max a
- 26:07Speaker 4: little bit. I think Max can beat Justin. Of course,
- 26:10Speaker 4: Justin could win. But Max is tough, his rhythm, his range.
- 26:14Speaker 4: And his technique on the feet, you know, unless Justin
- 26:16Speaker 4: wrestles a little bit, I think Max can pick him
- 26:17Speaker 4: apart and stay on the outside. But that's what makes
- 26:19Speaker 4: fighting so fun. We don't know until we watch it.
- 26:23Speaker 4: And Charles and Armin, that can go either way. Both
- 26:26Speaker 4: great grapplers.
- 26:27Speaker 2: I would think Charles would have an advantage standing up,
- 26:31Speaker 2: but we got to see.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Yeah, because now if Max went, like, yeah, I'm just
- 26:37Speaker 1: wondering where do you... Because I got two.
- 26:40Speaker 2: Wins over Max. I just lost... My last loss was
- 26:42Speaker 2: to Justin.
- 26:43Speaker 4: If Max beats him, does he stay at 55 or
- 26:46Speaker 4: does he go back to 45?
- 26:49Speaker 1: What do you think? Like, if you think, like... Do
- 26:52Speaker 1: you feel like you have a certain amount of fights
- 26:53Speaker 1: left in you? What is that yet? Does it start
- 26:55Speaker 1: to feel like... That's an interesting thought. Do you start
- 26:58Speaker 1: to feel like, oh, I think I... I might have
- 27:02Speaker 1: one or two left in there or... Do you think
- 27:04Speaker 1: you would get a definite feeling from yourself when you're like.
- 27:07Speaker 2: I think so.
- 27:08Speaker 4: Right. Yeah.
- 27:09Speaker 2: I don't even put a number on it. I just.
- 27:10Speaker 4: like even this last one, how I feel in the
- 27:12Speaker 4: warmup room, how I feel walking through the tunnel, walking
- 27:15Speaker 4: into the crowd, getting into the octagon, like how I
- 27:16Speaker 4: feel then I felt good.
- 27:18Speaker 2: You know, I felt like it wasn't time to stop.
- 27:20Speaker 3: Right.
- 27:20Speaker 4: So maybe next time, you know, if I feel like
- 27:23Speaker 4: that again, then it's not time to stop. I don't
- 27:24Speaker 4: want to put a number. I just put on, on
- 27:26Speaker 4: the way I feel.
- 27:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:27Speaker 1: Yeah. This episode is brought to you by prize picks.
- 27:32Speaker 1: Do you love firing on sports like I do? Well,
- 27:35Speaker 1: prize picks is the best daily fantasy sports app for you.
- 27:40Speaker 1: You can fire on all your favorite sports like the NBA, NCAA, UFC,
- 27:45Speaker 1: and many more. Instead of choosing teams, you choose individual players.
- 27:49Speaker 1: That's what I like about prize picks is that it's innovative.
- 27:52Speaker 1: It's not the same team spread situation. It's something new.
- 27:57Speaker 1: Each player that you choose has a set projection, and
- 28:00Speaker 1: you pick either more or less than the set projection.
- 28:04Speaker 1: So if you think Zion Williamson is going to have
- 28:07Speaker 1: less than 24 points, you can choose that. If you
- 28:10Speaker 1: think Marjan Beauchamp, my boy, is going to have more
- 28:14Speaker 1: than seven rebounds, you can choose that. If you are
- 28:17Speaker 1: smart with sports and you know what players are going
- 28:20Speaker 1: to perform on what nights, PrizePix is the best app
- 28:24Speaker 1: for you. Download the app and use code Theo. PrizePix
- 28:28Speaker 1: will match your deposit up to $ 100.

- 29:47Speaker 1: starting the good habit that much easier. What was it
- 29:54Speaker 1: like to get... Thanks for talking about it with me too, man.
- 29:57Speaker 2: Oh, of course.
- 29:58Speaker 1: What was it like to get, like, because if you
- 30:00Speaker 1: were going through, like, if there were some real tough,
- 30:03Speaker 1: some of your toughest times after the Gaethje fight, right,
- 30:06Speaker 1: before the BSD fight, what was it that made you
- 30:11Speaker 1: able to stay in, like, get ready for that next fight?
- 30:15Speaker 1: Because that's a space where, honestly, I think a lot
- 30:18Speaker 1: of people can relate to in their lives. Like, God, like,
- 30:23Speaker 1: I don't feel.
- 30:25Speaker 2: I don't feel great right here.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Or, you know, there's something in my life that's not
- 30:29Speaker 1: perfect or that's not the way I wish it to be.
- 30:32Speaker 1: That's not my will, you know? And how to get
- 30:35Speaker 1: ready then for something still that's important.
- 30:38Speaker 4: Like we were talking about earlier, I think just having
- 30:41Speaker 4: a name, having a date to circle on my calendar
- 30:43Speaker 4: kind of put me in the right direction mentally. Like
- 30:46Speaker 4: I knew I had something to work towards. It was
- 30:47Speaker 4: a big challenge.
- 30:48Speaker 2: It's a fight.
- 30:49Speaker 4: It's what I've been doing my whole life. Like that
- 30:50Speaker 4: kind of put me back on the track where I
- 30:52Speaker 4: needed to be. Obviously, practicing mindfulness and speaking to therapy
- 30:57Speaker 4: and talking to my wife and stuff like that was
- 30:59Speaker 4: helping along the way. But whenever I got the name
- 31:00Speaker 4: and the date for this next fight, everything kind of
- 31:02Speaker 4: clicked into, all right, this is what I need to
- 31:04Speaker 4: be doing.
- 31:05Speaker 3: Wow.
- 31:06Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:06Speaker 4: It really drowned out all the idleness of sitting at
- 31:10Speaker 4: home or overthinking. You know, I had such a big
- 31:12Speaker 4: challenge in front of me that that's all I focused on.
- 31:14Speaker 4: Everything else, like blinders, that's how fighting is for me,
- 31:17Speaker 4: you know?
- 31:18Speaker 1: Is that part of the reasons why you also took
- 31:21Speaker 1: that fight, you think?
- 31:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:22Speaker 1: Because you're like, I need a goal right now.
- 31:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 31:25Speaker 2: I was in the spot. It just happened.
- 31:27Speaker 4: They called where I was in the spot of my life, like,
- 31:28Speaker 4: and mentally in a place where whatever name they called with,
- 31:32Speaker 4: I would say, yes, I just needed to challenge, you know,
- 31:34Speaker 4: cause I needed to be at war with something else
- 31:36Speaker 4: besides myself.
- 31:37Speaker 2: Cause I was fighting myself every day. Yeah. Yeah, man.
- 31:40Speaker 2: That's fascinating. Yeah.
- 31:41Speaker 1: So many times I'll sit around like fighting myself instead
- 31:45Speaker 1: of picking up, like putting something on the calendar. That
- 31:48Speaker 1: is something I could be a goal.
- 31:50Speaker 2: Yeah. Be something I could try and conquer a challenge. Man.
- 31:56Speaker 2: If I'm not at war with something, I'm at war
- 31:57Speaker 2: with myself. Yeah, me too, bro. That's crazy.
- 32:00Speaker 1: Yeah, man. And sometimes I don't even realize it. I'm
- 32:02Speaker 1: sitting there. I'm pitching and hitting against, but I don't
- 32:05Speaker 1: even know what's going on.
- 32:06Speaker 2: Yeah. And definitely down on the judge's scorecards. Yeah.
- 32:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 32:11Speaker 2: I'm not winning the decision.
- 32:13Speaker 1: Yeah. Bro, I'll be the judge, dude, and I'll fucking
- 32:16Speaker 1: be giving myself shitty fucking.
- 32:19Speaker 2: I'll be the judge and the jury. Yeah. I was like,
- 32:22Speaker 2: this guy sucks. He's guilty. Guilty, man. God, that's the
- 32:26Speaker 2: same way I am, man.
- 32:29Speaker 4: But it's good, too, because that mindset and having that
- 32:32Speaker 4: work problem, if you focus it on something, you can
- 32:35Speaker 4: really go far.
- 32:36Speaker 2: Right. It's a gift and a curse. Yes. But recognize it.
- 32:41Speaker 1: Having some ability to see it is also a gift
- 32:44Speaker 1: because when you're just in it and you're just a
- 32:46Speaker 1: victim of all that and you just keep doing it,
- 32:48Speaker 1: you're reactive only.
- 32:49Speaker 2: Yeah. That's when it feels like it can feel catastrophic sometimes.
- 32:55Speaker 2: For sure.
- 32:56Speaker 1: But then also it can feel that's the same stuff
- 32:57Speaker 1: that just gives you unending motivation.
- 33:00Speaker 2: Right, right.
- 33:02Speaker 1: So do you know for yourself? Do you have a
- 33:05Speaker 1: fight that you want or you don't know yet? I
- 33:06Speaker 1: want to fight for the belt.
- 33:07Speaker 2: That's what I want. You do? That's the last thing
- 33:09Speaker 2: I have to do in this sport is be the
- 33:10Speaker 2: Undisputed World Champion. After I do that, anything you can
- 33:14Speaker 2: do in the sport, I've done. Right. I have 30
- 33:16Speaker 2: fights in the UFC. I've been fighting a long time
- 33:18Speaker 2: before the UFC. Like that's the last thing I have
- 33:21Speaker 2: to do. Yeah. Yeah.
- 33:23Speaker 4: But also I don't want to attach myself to it
- 33:25Speaker 4: too much to where if it doesn't happen or if
- 33:27Speaker 4: I never get another title shot that I judge my
- 33:31Speaker 4: life's work on that, you know, like I don't want
- 33:33Speaker 4: to leave it like that. So I'm just really practicing
- 33:36Speaker 4: trying to be content like in the place and space
- 33:38Speaker 4: that I'm in, you know?
- 33:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 33:40Speaker 2: Yeah, dude.
- 33:41Speaker 1: I felt like when you won that fight, it's interesting
- 33:43Speaker 1: how much, like I was in that ball, like me
- 33:47Speaker 1: and my, um, a comedian friend of mine, we're in
- 33:50Speaker 1: this bar in Australia.
- 33:51Speaker 2: We're watching.
- 33:52Speaker 1: And I'm like holding onto some guy and they don't
- 33:54Speaker 1: even know. Like everybody's just, people were on their edge
- 33:57Speaker 1: of their seat. There was like some guy left his
- 33:59Speaker 1: wife right there in it. Like people were a lot
- 34:02Speaker 1: like there was just so much going on, man. But
- 34:06Speaker 1: it felt like you almost felt the whole planet. It
- 34:09Speaker 1: felt like take an exhale.
- 34:11Speaker 2: Like, Oh yeah.
- 34:13Speaker 1: Like it felt like things were possible. That's what was
- 34:16Speaker 1: craziest about it. I think, And somebody had a great tweet.
- 34:20Speaker 1: It was like, uh, Dustin for humanity. And I was like, man,
- 34:24Speaker 1: that's exactly how it felt. It was like the underdog
- 34:28Speaker 1: came through again, man.
- 34:29Speaker 2: Yes.
- 34:30Speaker 1: I think it made everybody just feel like, Oh, there's
- 34:34Speaker 1: still things that can happen in the world that, uh,
- 34:38Speaker 1: like a guy stands a fighting chance for sure.
- 34:41Speaker 2: Yeah, dude, I've, I'm Mr. Bounce back.
- 34:44Speaker 4: Every time I take a L I come back, you know,
- 34:46Speaker 4: I come back and it's a, challenged to myself every
- 34:48Speaker 4: time because i've never lost two fights in a row
- 34:50Speaker 4: getting knocked out by gaethje jumping right back in camp
- 34:53Speaker 4: you know unsure of the future what if i you
- 34:55Speaker 4: know i was in a bad place what if i
- 34:57Speaker 4: lose this fight where am i going to be at
- 34:58Speaker 4: then you know but to get my hand raised and
- 35:02Speaker 4: put on a performance like that it's just like fuck
- 35:04Speaker 4: man hard work pays off yeah.
- 35:07Speaker 1: Dude that strut after what did trump say to you
- 35:10Speaker 1: after the fight i was uh I couldn't hear what
- 35:12Speaker 1: he was saying.
- 35:12Speaker 4: I was talking to Dana and then I was, somebody
- 35:14Speaker 4: sitting next to Dana was telling me they bet like
- 35:15Speaker 4: 200 K on me or something like that. And I
- 35:17Speaker 4: was trying to get my 20% from her. That's what
- 35:19Speaker 4: I was talking about.
- 35:20Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. You're just walking around collecting. Like, Hey, always
- 35:25Speaker 2: be closing. The work is done, baby. We got to collect.
- 35:28Speaker 2: It looks like I'm talking to Trump, but I'm talking
- 35:29Speaker 2: to somebody, Dana and somebody sitting next to him. Oh,
- 35:32Speaker 2: I see. Yeah. You're doing good. You're great. You're phenomenal.
- 35:38Speaker 2: Vice president. Um, Yeah. That's unbelievable, man. God, what is that?
- 35:45Speaker 1: How soon do you, after you say you end up
- 35:47Speaker 1: knocking someone out, what's the appropriate amount of time before
- 35:50Speaker 1: you have to go over there and check on them?
- 35:52Speaker 4: Well, I guess everyone's different, but he was kind of
- 35:55Speaker 4: sitting down for a while. So, and, um, the rough
- 35:57Speaker 4: was waiting for us to get in the middle. So
- 35:58Speaker 4: I kind of helped him walk to the middle, talk
- 36:00Speaker 4: to him a little bit. Um, it just depends how
- 36:02Speaker 4: bad it is and how much they're moving, you know? Right.
- 36:05Speaker 2: You never know, man. That's so wild.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Um, Yeah, because I guess, can you kind of tell how,
- 36:13Speaker 1: because you haven't been knocked out or gotten knocked unconscious,
- 36:19Speaker 1: you know what it's like. I mean, you guys have
- 36:21Speaker 1: that throughout your careers.
- 36:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:23Speaker 1: Because nobody's around knockouts as much as you guys. Do
- 36:26Speaker 1: you start to gauge how well a guy is after
- 36:28Speaker 1: a kind of thing?
- 36:29Speaker 4: See, like, I've been in the corner of so many
- 36:31Speaker 4: guys who have been knocked out and I've been around
- 36:34Speaker 4: fights for so long. So I kind of see when
- 36:37Speaker 4: people go back to the locker room and they don't
- 36:38Speaker 4: even remember anything.
- 36:39Speaker 2: What happened? They keep asking the same questions over and
- 36:41Speaker 2: over again. That's when you know it's serious. Wow. Yeah.
- 36:46Speaker 4: So I didn't go to his locker room and speak
- 36:47Speaker 4: to him after, so I don't know where he was,
- 36:49Speaker 4: but he seemed like he shook back pretty quick in there.
- 36:50Speaker 2: He was talking pretty clear.
- 36:52Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 36:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 36:53Speaker 1: Has Dana and Sean, have they offered you a title
- 36:57Speaker 1: match yet? No.
- 36:58Speaker 2: Okay.
- 36:59Speaker 1: No.
- 37:00Speaker 2: I don't know what's next, but I think we're going
- 37:02Speaker 2: to hear soon. You think that? Yeah, I know. Oh,
- 37:06Speaker 2: that seems interesting.
- 37:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:08Speaker 2: News alert. Breaking news.
- 37:11Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 37:13Speaker 2: What about boxing?
- 37:14Speaker 1: You see this stuff, like, do you start to think
- 37:16Speaker 1: as you get further in your career that there's a
- 37:20Speaker 1: lot of people fighting, going to boxing? Tyson Pedro just
- 37:25Speaker 1: went to boxing.
- 37:26Speaker 2: Did he?
- 37:26Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 37:27Speaker 2: Wow. He just started.
- 37:29Speaker 1: There's guys who go, like, that'll fight, like, in the
- 37:33Speaker 1: Jake Paul, you know, in that world.
- 37:35Speaker 4: Right.
- 37:35Speaker 1: Do you see yourself ever doing something like that? Would
- 37:37Speaker 1: you ever count something like that out, or?
- 37:39Speaker 4: I just, I'm 35 and I have, you know, I
- 37:42Speaker 4: think five fights, six fights left on my current contract
- 37:46Speaker 4: with UFC. I don't know if I'm ever going to
- 37:48Speaker 4: fight that out. You know, am I going to fight
- 37:50Speaker 4: six more times and become a free agent? I don't,
- 37:52Speaker 4: I don't know, but I would love to box.
- 37:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:54Speaker 1: So even if you were to go to boxing, do
- 37:56Speaker 1: you have, does that UFC have to have a part
- 37:58Speaker 1: in that fight?
- 37:59Speaker 4: If I'm, well, if you're still in the contract, if
- 38:01Speaker 4: I fight whatever's left on my contract and I'm free
- 38:03Speaker 4: agent that.
- 38:04Speaker 2: Can do whatever I want.
- 38:05Speaker 3: Right.
- 38:05Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 38:06Speaker 1: But if not, and there's not like an equal parting,
- 38:09Speaker 1: then even if you were to go do boxing, like
- 38:12Speaker 1: Tyron Woodley went and boxed.
- 38:14Speaker 2: He was out of his contract. Oh, he was out
- 38:15Speaker 2: of his contract.
- 38:16Speaker 4: Yeah, I think the only person who's ever done that
- 38:17Speaker 4: is Conor, where UFC was co-promoted it and got a
- 38:20Speaker 4: cut of it.
- 38:20Speaker 2: Against Mayweather? Yeah, against Mayweather.
- 38:22Speaker 4: But it was such a big fight, everybody won. You know,
- 38:25Speaker 4: that makes sense. Other than that, I don't think the
- 38:26Speaker 4: UFC would like let anybody do that. Yeah, because it
- 38:30Speaker 4: would open up a can of worms. I think it
- 38:31Speaker 4: would just open up a crazy can of worms where
- 38:33Speaker 4: now Dana, he doesn't want to, it doesn't seem like
- 38:35Speaker 4: help promote A lot of that.
- 38:37Speaker 2: Yeah. And he's built the UFC. The brand is so
- 38:41Speaker 2: strong now.
- 38:41Speaker 4: I don't know if they want to give any other
- 38:42Speaker 4: brands a rub by co-promoting and stuff like that.
- 38:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:46Speaker 4: And we fight in mixed martial arts. Boxing is a
- 38:49Speaker 4: part of mixed martial arts, but it's a whole different thing, man.
- 38:53Speaker 1: Do you think it would be something like when you
- 38:54Speaker 1: think about that, is it something that's kind of interesting
- 38:56Speaker 1: or do you feel like, I just like mixed martial arts?
- 39:00Speaker 1: Because you're great on one of your, like even with
- 39:03Speaker 1: BSD- Or BDS, I can't remember, but he.
- 39:07Speaker 2: BSD.
- 39:08Speaker 1: BSD. It felt like he didn't want to have you
- 39:12Speaker 1: on the feet that much, you know?
- 39:13Speaker 2: Yeah. It felt like it wasn't a preference of his. Right.
- 39:17Speaker 4: Just watching. And every time we went to the ground,
- 39:20Speaker 4: I took myself down. I never got taken down once
- 39:22Speaker 4: by him. I was jumping guillotines, you know, ending up
- 39:24Speaker 4: on my back.
- 39:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 39:25Speaker 4: I never got taken out but we we worked wrestling
- 39:27Speaker 4: really hard that camp we thought he was going to
- 39:28Speaker 4: be diving for my legs you know he just seemed
- 39:30Speaker 4: a little bit slow on the feet and uh you
- 39:33Speaker 4: know if you stand in front of me he didn't
- 39:35Speaker 4: have great head movement in his fights the videos we
- 39:37Speaker 4: watched if you stand in front of me like i'm
- 39:39Speaker 4: gonna get you you know something's gonna land that's gonna
- 39:41Speaker 4: hurt you especially over five rounds that's why i asked
- 39:44Speaker 4: the ufc for it to be 25 minute fight i
- 39:45Speaker 4: didn't want to do three rounds because if this guy
- 39:48Speaker 4: had pushes me against the fence and I lose one round. Right.
- 39:51Speaker 4: You know, like I think the better fighter wins over
- 39:54Speaker 4: the long run. So I asked them for five rounds
- 39:56Speaker 4: and they gave it to us.
- 39:58Speaker 2: Yeah. What is that?
- 40:00Speaker 1: What are those moments like when you're just up against
- 40:01Speaker 1: the fence and it just feels like, it feels like
- 40:05Speaker 1: two neighbors kind of just like, are like having an
- 40:09Speaker 1: issue about something.
- 40:10Speaker 4: Bro, fighting is like when you're not touching each other,
- 40:14Speaker 4: like when you're squared off, like feigning and throwing punches,
- 40:16Speaker 4: that's just like, it's, it's chaotic. But when you get
- 40:19Speaker 4: to the fence or you get on the ground and
- 40:20Speaker 4: you're kind of, you know, pummeling and stuff like that,
- 40:22Speaker 4: that's when like reality sets in where you get like
- 40:24Speaker 4: a moment of clarity like, oh, shit, this is happening.
- 40:26Speaker 2: Oh, damn, I'm against the fence. He's kneeing me.
- 40:28Speaker 4: But like you don't think you don't have time to
- 40:30Speaker 4: think when you're fighting, like if you're scrambling on the
- 40:32Speaker 4: ground or throwing combinations and blocking kicks and firing punches back.
- 40:36Speaker 4: it's kind of chaotic. You're not thinking, you're just reacting.
- 40:39Speaker 4: But whenever you get to the fence and a guy's
- 40:40Speaker 4: clinching you and you have time to think, you're like,
- 40:42Speaker 4: oh shit, that's when it sets in.
- 40:43Speaker 2: This is happening. Wow.
- 40:45Speaker 1: Yeah, because you almost have moments, there's times where you
- 40:47Speaker 1: see the fighters kind of look around or they'll just
- 40:49Speaker 1: be locked in a moment and they'll just kind of
- 40:51Speaker 1: engage with somebody almost.
- 40:53Speaker 2: Yeah, it's surreal.
- 40:54Speaker 4: Like when that moment of clarity sets in, when the
- 40:56Speaker 4: fight slows down a little bit, it's pretty crazy, man.
- 40:59Speaker 4: Because then you can hear the crowd and sometimes I
- 41:01Speaker 4: can hear the commentators, like I'll hear Joe Rogan through
- 41:03Speaker 4: the fence talking.
- 41:04Speaker 2: It's crazy. Um, if boxing, yeah.
- 41:08Speaker 1: So who would you fight if you had to do
- 41:10Speaker 1: a celebrity boxing match?
- 41:11Speaker 2: Do you have any thoughts on it ever? Biden, maybe.
- 41:14Speaker 2: Oh dude. Yeah. He's already, he already lost. The bell
- 41:20Speaker 2: might wobble him when it starts. You ready? Fight. He's like,
- 41:23Speaker 2: Oh shit.
- 41:25Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 41:25Speaker 1: I think even if they let him use like 12
- 41:27Speaker 1: year old kids as smelling salts though, I think he
- 41:29Speaker 1: might bounce back, you know, or fight Hunter Biden.
- 41:33Speaker 2: Oh, that would be a good one. Coked up.
- 41:35Speaker 1: Sure. Sure.
- 41:36Speaker 2: Yeah, that would be a good one. I'd hate to
- 41:38Speaker 2: fight all coked up. Yeah. It would be the worst.
- 41:44Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm trying to think of something else I was
- 41:46Speaker 1: going to ask you about. They should do Trump-Biden.
- 41:48Speaker 2: A fight? Yeah. Yeah.
- 41:51Speaker 1: That would be a good one. That would be a
- 41:53Speaker 1: pay-per-view blockbuster. Yeah, I wonder who would actually. Well, Trump
- 41:58Speaker 1: would probably win, I think, from pushing him over.
- 42:00Speaker 2: I don't know if Trump. Trump does this. He has
- 42:04Speaker 2: like that. Seems a little bit more pep in his stout. Yeah. Yeah,
- 42:08Speaker 2: he might have a little bit more. I'd bet the
- 42:11Speaker 2: money line on that one, Trump. Can you bet on
- 42:16Speaker 2: yourself legally? I used to be able to.
- 42:18Speaker 4: Ever since maybe a year ago, they put in that rule,
- 42:22Speaker 4: we can't.
- 42:23Speaker 1: So I completely stopped. But I still bet on boxing
- 42:25Speaker 1: and football and stuff. Can anyone in your house that
- 42:28Speaker 1: could be?
- 42:29Speaker 2: Sorry to cut you off. I bet on myself a
- 42:30Speaker 2: bunch of times coming up. Like when I first started
- 42:32Speaker 2: fighting in Vegas. Oh, yeah. Really?
- 42:34Speaker 1: Yeah. What's the most that you ever bet on yourself,
- 42:36Speaker 1: you think? Not much, maybe 500, 1,000 maybe. That's a lot, though,
- 42:40Speaker 1: when you're coming up.
- 42:41Speaker 2: Yeah, that was a lot. That's a lot, dude. I
- 42:43Speaker 2: don't know if I've ever laid $ 1, 000 on somebody. Maybe
- 42:45Speaker 2: I have. I can't get it in one of my accounts,
- 42:49Speaker 2: so I haven't been able to bet on you in
- 42:50Speaker 2: a long time.
- 42:50Speaker 4: That last one would have been a good one.
- 42:53Speaker 1: I know.
- 42:54Speaker 2: I think by knockout, I was like plus 370. Oh, God.
- 42:58Speaker 1: I got to fucking figure out. I think they stole
- 43:00Speaker 1: my money. But yeah, I don't even know what company
- 43:03Speaker 1: it was, but yeah. Um, what do you think, man?
- 43:07Speaker 1: I was going to say this. A lot of people
- 43:09Speaker 1: are talking about aliens all the time and I'm talking
- 43:11Speaker 1: about Joe Rogan, but, um, if they attack us, right.
- 43:16Speaker 1: And we have to send five UFC fighters to save
- 43:18Speaker 1: the planet. You get to go right. And you have
- 43:21Speaker 1: to pick four to go with you. What do you
- 43:24Speaker 1: think you got? Like current fighters are just all time. Ooh,
- 43:28Speaker 1: let's say current just to keep it.
- 43:29Speaker 2: Yeah. John Jones for sure. Oh, John Jones for sure. Why?
- 43:34Speaker 2: Because of the length? He's the best at do it. Right. Yeah.
- 43:38Speaker 2: And he's big. And he's big.
- 43:39Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 43:40Speaker 4: So we got that. Maybe get a small person. We
- 43:43Speaker 4: need like a 125 or something. Maybe the champ Pantoja.
- 43:47Speaker 4: So we got a big guy. We got a small guy.
- 43:50Speaker 1: Pantoja speaks Spanish too. And I don't know what aliens speak, but.
- 43:52Speaker 1: That's good to have some diversity on our side. Maybe
- 43:55Speaker 1: toss a girl in there too.
- 43:56Speaker 2: Yeah. Because we might, you never know. Yeah. Who's the
- 43:58Speaker 2: new girl that just came over from PFL? Yeah. Kayla Harrison.
- 44:02Speaker 2: Kayla Harrison. Toss her on the team too.
- 44:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:04Speaker 2: Yeah. Okay. So you got Kayla Harrison, John Jones, Pantages. Pantoja. Pantoja. Sorry.
- 44:10Speaker 4: All right.
- 44:10Speaker 2: And, uh, damn, do we need another big guy? You
- 44:14Speaker 2: think how big are these aliens? Well, I'll say this.
- 44:17Speaker 1: A lot of them, their lateral movement struggles, but they, uh,
- 44:20Speaker 1: they can like blink and order Starbucks. So it's a
- 44:24Speaker 1: lot of mental game. You might need a, dang, I'd
- 44:28Speaker 1: bring Gaethje, you know, I'd bring Gaethje. Yeah, you guys
- 44:31Speaker 1: are warriors. He can go on the front line like
- 44:33Speaker 1: the wrecking ball. We'll send him over first. Yeah, there
- 44:36Speaker 1: you go.
- 44:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:38Speaker 2: Yeah. They asked for somebody else, but you just tell
- 44:40Speaker 2: him it was him and he just fucking goes. They
- 44:41Speaker 2: want you over there, bud.
- 44:42Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:43Speaker 2: He would go anyway, man. Yeah.
- 44:45Speaker 1: One of the best things I ever saw was like
- 44:47Speaker 1: one of the first UFC fights I ever went to.
- 44:49Speaker 2: He's just backstage.
- 44:50Speaker 1: He's in the backstage and literally just walking around looking
- 44:53Speaker 1: at almost looking like he's ready to fight anybody.
- 44:55Speaker 2: He's like, I'm ready to fight anybody. He was fighting
- 44:57Speaker 2: that night? No, he wasn't.
- 44:58Speaker 1: That was the crazy part. But it was just like
- 45:02Speaker 1: showing up, like showing I'm ready, you know? It seems
- 45:04Speaker 1: like there's a lot of like, because you just get
- 45:08Speaker 1: so few chances to show your shine in your sport. Well,
- 45:13Speaker 1: every time we go out there, it's the Super Bowl.
- 45:15Speaker 1: It's not like we have, we train three, four months
- 45:18Speaker 1: to prepare for this moment. It could be 15 or
- 45:20Speaker 1: 25 minutes. The whole world's watching. There's no re-dos.
- 45:22Speaker 4: There's no finger pointing, my teammates weren't picking up the
- 45:25Speaker 4: slack or whatever. It's all you. And if you lose,
- 45:29Speaker 4: it's going to be a while until you get that
- 45:30Speaker 4: opportunity again. So everyone's a Super Bowl. Every fight's the
- 45:33Speaker 4: biggest fight.
- 45:34Speaker 2: Damn. It's exciting, but it's scary at the same time.
- 45:39Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, I think that's what makes it so appealing
- 45:44Speaker 1: to so many people. I mean, the sport's grown so
- 45:46Speaker 1: much since you've been in it. Have you felt that
- 45:48Speaker 1: as a competitor?
- 45:48Speaker 2: 100%. Really? Yeah, big time.
- 45:51Speaker 4: Not as a competitor, but like as a fan of
- 45:53Speaker 4: the sport and just watching it grow and the new
- 45:56Speaker 4: fan base, you know, because when I first started, it
- 45:58Speaker 4: was older, like older men watching this. Now kids and
- 46:02Speaker 4: even grandmothers are talking about fighting at the grocery store.
- 46:04Speaker 4: You know, if I go get some groceries right now,
- 46:06Speaker 4: I'm going to run into somebody and it can be...
- 46:09Speaker 4: Back in the day, it was just like old dudes
- 46:11Speaker 4: with beards, you know, talking about MMA. Now it's such
- 46:14Speaker 4: a big sport. Everybody's kids are talking about it. Soccer
- 46:16Speaker 4: moms are talking about it. It's cool to see the growth, but.
- 46:21Speaker 1: It's just crazy the different wave of fans that come
- 46:23Speaker 1: in with that, you know? Did you feel the growth,
- 46:25Speaker 1: like being in the ring and stuff? Has the size
- 46:27Speaker 1: of venues that you guys have been in changed and
- 46:29Speaker 1: stuff too over the years?
- 46:30Speaker 2: Yeah, the crowd's been like?
- 46:31Speaker 4: The crowd's, well, when I first started fighting in Vegas,
- 46:33Speaker 4: it was at the Palms. It might have, I don't
- 46:36Speaker 4: even know, 1,500, 2,000 at.
- 46:37Speaker 2: The, yeah. Really? And that was the UFC fight night?
- 46:41Speaker 2: That was WEC.
- 46:42Speaker 4: UFC, they did big events, like 10,000, or they'd go
- 46:45Speaker 4: to the MGM or the Mandalay, they might have like 18,000.
- 46:47Speaker 4: It was big, but they would only do pay-per-views Every
- 46:51Speaker 4: few months. You know, now there's a fight every week.
- 46:53Speaker 2: Yeah. Every week.
- 46:54Speaker 4: That's another thing that was cool at the beginning of fighting, too,
- 46:56Speaker 4: when I first got to the UFC. Like, you win
- 46:58Speaker 4: a big fight, that win, that high lasted for months
- 47:01Speaker 4: because that's how long it was until the next event. Oh,
- 47:03Speaker 4: so you, yeah, you got to be the real. Everybody's
- 47:06Speaker 4: still talking about that last card. Now you went on
- 47:08Speaker 4: a Saturday. It's already, by the time you fly back home,
- 47:11Speaker 4: it's fight week again for somebody, you know. So the
- 47:14Speaker 4: focus of the media and everything switches to the new
- 47:16Speaker 4: guys coming up. So I've noticed that big time.
- 47:20Speaker 1: Yeah, it's kind of a blessing and a curse because
- 47:21Speaker 1: also then if you don't get the win, it's like
- 47:23Speaker 1: that goes away pretty quick too.
- 47:25Speaker 2: Right, because somebody's getting fucked up the next Saturday.
- 47:27Speaker 1: Yeah, and you're almost hoping somebody gets really fucked up
- 47:31Speaker 1: so that people forget quicker.
- 47:32Speaker 2: Yeah, I hope somebody gets kicked in the head. That
- 47:34Speaker 2: way they're talking about that one, you know? Yeah. Yeah,
- 47:38Speaker 2: I remember that because I remember Dominic Reyes. Reyes?
- 47:43Speaker 1: No.
- 47:44Speaker 2: Dominic Cruz also got a head-to-head kick that win. Cheeto. Oh,
- 47:48Speaker 2: that was against Cheeto, huh? Yeah, Chito's a cool dude, man.
- 47:52Speaker 1: Yeah, Chito's a neat guy, man. Oh, it was powerful
- 47:54Speaker 1: to see him go against Sean to stay in there.
- 47:57Speaker 2: Dude, he took some damage. Man, he did. That knee? Oh,
- 48:02Speaker 2: my God. I had to rewatch it because I was
- 48:03Speaker 2: doing media right after the fight, so I missed it,
- 48:05Speaker 2: but I went home and watched it, and yeah. It
- 48:07Speaker 2: made my throat hurt for some reason. He's never been finished, bro. Never. Yeah.
- 48:13Speaker 1: I think he wanted to stand on that. It was
- 48:15Speaker 1: amazing how Sean was just.
- 48:16Speaker 2: Like, Oh, my God, bro. Paz Dispenser. Bro, I feel like, yeah,
- 48:27Speaker 2: I feel like you. That ain't good for you. Somebody
- 48:28Speaker 2: just opened up a pecan. Yeah, cracked a pecan right there.
- 48:31Speaker 2: Remember that sound, bro? Oh, yeah. You guys had pecan
- 48:34Speaker 2: trees in your yard growing up? Yeah, I used to
- 48:37Speaker 2: gather them up and go sell them. That was beer money.
- 48:41Speaker 2: Was it?
- 48:41Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 48:41Speaker 2: Yeah, bro. Yeah, when I was growing up, dude, a
- 48:44Speaker 2: sack of pecans was something nice, dude. I don't even
- 48:46Speaker 2: know what they're going for now, but I used to
- 48:48Speaker 2: have the tools where it rolls on the ground and
- 48:49Speaker 2: picks them up. Yeah.
- 48:52Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, we used to go pick them up. My
- 48:53Speaker 1: buddy Robert, he was kind of, his parents thought he
- 48:57Speaker 1: was haunted or whatever because he had some, his mom
- 49:00Speaker 1: was a nurse or whatever, but his dad was out
- 49:02Speaker 1: of work. But we would go over to his house.
- 49:06Speaker 1: They had a couple of pecan trees.
- 49:07Speaker 2: Yeah, man. We'd go pick them up. But sometimes you
- 49:09Speaker 2: get them maybe a little too early. Yeah, they're green.
- 49:12Speaker 2: They're bitter. Yeah, you still have it, but you don't,
- 49:15Speaker 2: you wish you hadn't had it.
- 49:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 49:17Speaker 2: Sometimes you got to shake the tree to make them
- 49:18Speaker 2: fall too. Really? Damn, man. You never threw like sticks
- 49:21Speaker 2: up in the tree to make them fall? No, we
- 49:22Speaker 2: throw sticks, but I wasn't over there just fucking shaking
- 49:25Speaker 2: that bitch too. Oh yeah, climb up, get on a branch,
- 49:28Speaker 2: shake them down. Like Tai Tui Vasa or somebody.
- 49:30Speaker 1: Oh, you can shake it. Hell of a retreat. Those
- 49:32Speaker 1: bitches up. Like Louisiana, we're the only people that call
- 49:35Speaker 1: them pukans. Everywhere it's pecan and you've.
- 49:39Speaker 2: Traveled a lot. Yeah, I hear pecan a lot. You
- 49:41Speaker 2: hear pecan? Outside of. No, that's true.
- 49:43Speaker 4: I don't.
- 49:43Speaker 2: Oh, look at this right here. About to shake that
- 49:46Speaker 2: bad boy. Oh, yeah. Mr. Weatherall. Look at this thing.
- 49:49Speaker 2: I don't know what's going on here, man. This dude,
- 49:56Speaker 2: this looks like he's. Look at that. Ooh, shorty. Look
- 50:00Speaker 2: at all the pecans falling. Bro. Twerk team. Shorty getting wicked, huh?
- 50:05Speaker 2: Shaking him branches, boy. Damn. They need to do a Mr.
- 50:08Speaker 2: Weatherall remix to this then. Look at that. That thing
- 50:11Speaker 2: shake what your mama gave you. You know what I mean? Bro,
- 50:14Speaker 2: that's crazy. I wonder how many it says they got.
- 50:16Speaker 2: Did it say? That's unbelievable. I mean, that's thousands of
- 50:19Speaker 2: pecans falling. Because you know the green thing that goes
- 50:21Speaker 2: around them. You know when they're ready, it opens up.
- 50:23Speaker 2: It looks like. And then it has a shell in there. Right.
- 50:25Speaker 1: But if you shake that when they're open like that, bro,
- 50:27Speaker 1: they'll all fall. Bro, pecans were so good. Sometimes you
- 50:31Speaker 1: would get them at the right exact time and it
- 50:33Speaker 1: would be a little bit sweet.
- 50:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 50:35Speaker 1: Oh.
- 50:36Speaker 2: That was so nice, bro. I loved having that. I
- 50:40Speaker 2: like them fresh like that. Yeah. Get you a little snack.
- 50:42Speaker 2: They were pretty good.
- 50:43Speaker 1: What we got in the news?
- 50:47Speaker 2: Nick?
- 50:48Speaker 3: Drake gifted Sexy Red, Aiden Ross, J. Cole, and 21
- 50:53Speaker 3: Savage a heart chain, but many people did not think
- 50:59Speaker 3: it looked like a heart.
- 51:00Speaker 2: Oh, wow. That's a scrotum. Yeah, bro, that's a different
- 51:04Speaker 2: set of pecans.
- 51:04Speaker 1: That's a beanbag right there. Yeah. It's got veins on
- 51:08Speaker 1: it and everything. Damn, he gave that to people to
- 51:11Speaker 1: wear on their neck? Dude, I'm not wearing some mixed
- 51:15Speaker 1: guys nuts on my neck. Okay, I don't know how,
- 51:20Speaker 1: I don't care what, even if it matches with a
- 51:21Speaker 1: belt I have. You ever see the big trucks with
- 51:24Speaker 1: the balls hanging off the back on the toe? That's
- 51:28Speaker 1: what that looks like, bro. Is that some kind of
- 51:30Speaker 1: an ownership thing if you send somebody's nuts to somebody?
- 51:35Speaker 1: That to me seems like I wouldn't, like if somebody
- 51:38Speaker 1: sent me their nuts, even if it was a hero
- 51:40Speaker 1: of mine, you know, even if it was damn, trying
- 51:45Speaker 1: to think of somebody, Willie Nelson or whatever, right? If
- 51:51Speaker 1: that dude sends me a golden nuts, I ain't wearing
- 51:56Speaker 1: them bitches, dude. I love him, but I'm not wearing
- 51:58Speaker 1: them bitches.
- 51:59Speaker 2: What if Lance Armstrong sent you one nut? Would you
- 52:04Speaker 2: wear that? I'd wear maybe just an earring.
- 52:07Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 52:09Speaker 2: Especially if I'm biking, I'd wear that bitch. Just one. Solo.
- 52:14Speaker 1: Bro, having one nut has to be cool. It's almost
- 52:16Speaker 1: like mistletoe, I feel like, you know? I feel like
- 52:18Speaker 1: at that point.
- 52:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 52:21Speaker 1: Yeah, I think having one nut has got to be
- 52:24Speaker 1: like a unique thing.
- 52:26Speaker 2: Two nuts. I don't want more than two.
- 52:27Speaker 3: I know that.
- 52:28Speaker 2: Yeah, not two is the perfect amount. Yeah, two really is, huh? Yeah,
- 52:31Speaker 2: it's your balance. Yeah, you almost can juggle it, but
- 52:35Speaker 2: you can't, you know? It's kind of a reminder. Yeah.

- 54:03Speaker 1: store was probably one of the last things I thought about.
- 54:07Speaker 1: I never thought about being like a mercantile operator or anything.
- 54:10Speaker 1: And as things got busier, we... wanted to put out
- 54:14Speaker 1: a T-shirt or a package of stickers, and then that evolved.
- 54:18Speaker 1: And next thing you know, you're putting out a sweatshirt
- 54:21Speaker 1: and a baby bib, different little items, silverware for a senior.
- 54:26Speaker 1: And before I knew it, we had a lot of
- 54:29Speaker 1: items and we needed help. And that became so easy
- 54:33Speaker 1: because I use Shopify.

- 55:31Speaker 1: that I've been dealing with. And so putting me first

- 56:33Speaker 1: What else we got in the news, Nick?
- 56:36Speaker 3: Governor DeSantis enacted a social media ban for children under 14.
- 56:41Speaker 3: It's supposed to go into effect January 1st, and kids
- 56:47Speaker 3: 14 to 16 need their parents' permission.
- 56:50Speaker 2: My wife was just talking about that. Really?
- 56:52Speaker 1: Yeah. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed one of the country's
- 56:54Speaker 1: most restrictive social media bills into law Monday, banning children
- 56:57Speaker 1: under the age of 14 from having accounts and requiring
- 57:00Speaker 1: children aged 14 to 16 have parental consent to hold one. Huh.
- 57:05Speaker 1: What do you think about that? You guys have a child, D.
- 57:06Speaker 1: What's that like for you? Do you think about this
- 57:08Speaker 1: kind of stuff and the effects it could have on
- 57:10Speaker 1: your kid?
- 57:11Speaker 2: For sure, man. Yeah, we do. And she's not on
- 57:14Speaker 2: social media or anything like that, but she does have
- 57:16Speaker 2: an iPad we give her on the weekends she can use.
- 57:19Speaker 2: Like Friday night, Saturday night, when she's out of school,
- 57:21Speaker 2: she's on it. Or if we're traveling, she'll watch movies
- 57:24Speaker 2: and play games on her iPad. Yeah, I don't think
- 57:27Speaker 2: it's good. Being at that age, 14, high school....
- 57:34Speaker 4: Your friends and who's popular at school, you know, that
- 57:37Speaker 4: affects you like you're, I don't know, it's hard to
- 57:39Speaker 4: put into words, but it's a big deal, man. Think
- 57:41Speaker 4: about how tough it was without this.
- 57:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 57:44Speaker 4: Now you have this and it's just, you see the
- 57:46Speaker 4: bullying and stuff like that on there. I don't think
- 57:48Speaker 4: a kid can.
- 57:49Speaker 2: Handle all that. Yeah, I agree.
- 57:51Speaker 1: I mean, well, they have so many kids that like
- 57:53Speaker 1: have had taken their lives, had a lot of issues
- 57:56Speaker 1: with online bullying. And as a parent, the scary thing
- 57:59Speaker 1: as a parent, you don't even know it's happening sometimes,
- 58:02Speaker 1: I think. So that's probably one of the things I
- 58:04Speaker 1: think would probably be good if they had.
- 58:06Speaker 4: But also like raising a kid, all of our friends
- 58:08Speaker 4: are going to be on social media when they, when
- 58:10Speaker 4: they get that age and she might be the weird
- 58:12Speaker 4: one out.
- 58:12Speaker 2: If we don't let her, it's, it's a weird place
- 58:14Speaker 2: to be in. Yeah. Yeah.
- 58:15Speaker 1: I think a lot of parents don't set controls on
- 58:17Speaker 1: their kids, social media. They just think the kid isn't
- 58:20Speaker 1: going to get into.
- 58:20Speaker 2: Stuff, you know? Yeah.
- 58:23Speaker 1: But I think, yeah, I don't have any children, but yeah,
- 58:25Speaker 1: it would seem like as a parent, you got to
- 58:26Speaker 1: make those choices because your child's not really going to,
- 58:29Speaker 1: you know, they're going to make some of them, but,
- 58:31Speaker 1: you got to really look out for your kid at
- 58:33Speaker 1: all in every space. Yeah. And that's crazy. Cause somebody
- 58:36Speaker 1: could get to your child through social media. It's just
- 58:38Speaker 1: so wild, you know?
- 58:40Speaker 4: Right.
- 58:40Speaker 2: And just the stuff they're exposed to, man, the internet's
- 58:42Speaker 2: a wild place. Oh, it's horrible, dude.
- 58:45Speaker 4: She has like kids YouTube. We have like the parental
- 58:48Speaker 4: settings and stuff on that. She can go on YouTube
- 58:50Speaker 4: on our, on our stuff, but yeah, I don't want
- 58:52Speaker 4: her seeing even some stuff on YouTube is crazy.
- 58:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 58:55Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 58:56Speaker 2: Oh yeah. Um, what else did I say?
- 58:59Speaker 1: Oh, I saw that kid still hitting, um, Home runs,
- 59:01Speaker 1: you see that kid, Big Al, remember him, Big Al?
- 59:04Speaker 3: No.
- 59:05Speaker 1: The children's, uh he was a um child an italian
- 59:14Speaker 1: child i think he's remember he hits uh what did
- 59:17Speaker 1: he call it this guy uh would hit home runs
- 59:22Speaker 1: all the time.
- 59:28Speaker 2: And he grew up. Oh, it's him as an adult?
- 59:36Speaker 1: Yeah, he's still hitting dingers. That's got to be heavy
- 59:41Speaker 1: for kids. Yeah, I think kids, yeah, because if something
- 59:43Speaker 1: happens to you when you're a kid and it goes
- 59:44Speaker 1: big on social media, then you're that kid forever. If
- 59:47Speaker 1: you're like the kid that like yells a slur or something.
- 59:50Speaker 1: Or call somebody a G-A-Y or something when they're on
- 59:54Speaker 1: dental gas or whatever. And then that's who you are forever.
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: You can run for mayor years later on that.
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: That dental gas will get you. Oh, God.
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: That shit is fun, huh? You ever get any good
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: stuff to huff out there?
- 1:00:12Speaker 4: Whippets back in the day. Not the dental gas. Back
- 1:00:15Speaker 4: when I used to work at a restaurant, we used
- 1:00:16Speaker 4: to crack them whippets. Oh, man.
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: Dude, the whipped cream, whenever they finally put it on dessert,
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: that shit was just kind of dribbling out of my lungs.
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: Yeah, bro, there was nothing left. There was no whipped
- 1:00:30Speaker 2: cream left for your dessert. Oh, man. What's the number
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: one fight that you would make outside of your division?
- 1:00:37Speaker 2: Is there a fight that.
- 1:00:40Speaker 4: I really want to see the 145-pound champ, Toporia.
- 1:00:43Speaker 2: I want to see him fight Max. You do?
- 1:00:45Speaker 4: Yeah, because Volk was the only guy Max couldn't beat
- 1:00:47Speaker 4: at 45. He's... You know, pretty much cleaned out the division.
- 1:00:50Speaker 4: Now there's a new young blood, great striker, good grappler.
- 1:00:53Speaker 4: I think that would be an incredible fight, man. Max
- 1:00:56Speaker 4: versus Teporia. Yeah, that's wild because who just called him
- 1:00:59Speaker 4: out too? Sugar Sean just called him out? Oh, that
- 1:01:01Speaker 4: would be a good one too.
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:01:03Speaker 2: Yeah, that would be a good one.
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: Do Max and Sugar Sean, are they in the same division?
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: No. Max is 45. Sean's 135. Okay, wow.
- 1:01:11Speaker 4: But Sean's pretty tall, you know, pretty decent size for
- 1:01:14Speaker 4: the division, but Max is a lot thicker than him.
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: So, but Sean might move up out of his division.
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't, I'm not sure. Yeah.
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: He's, he was talking about it. Do you think about
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: that for any more of your fights? Are you happy
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: in your division?
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: I'm happy.
- 1:01:27Speaker 4: Like a lot of people wanted me to go up
- 1:01:29Speaker 4: to one 70, but dude, like this morning I weighed
- 1:01:33Speaker 4: myself when I woke up, I was one 73. You know,
- 1:01:35Speaker 4: I can't, I can't fight at 170 pounds. Those guys
- 1:01:37Speaker 4: are going to rehydrate and be one 90 for fight night.
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: You know?
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:01:41Speaker 4: Like at the top, at the highest level, A guy
- 1:01:44Speaker 4: with 20 pounds on you on fight night, you know,
- 1:01:47Speaker 4: in grappling positions and side control, half guard, it's just
- 1:01:50Speaker 4: that weight really matters when guys know how to use it.
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:01:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: What about this guy? You ever heard of him? Blood
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: Diamond is his name? Yeah. He's Adesanya's friend? Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: I think I've seen him fight, but I don't know
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: much about him. I wonder if there'd ever be a
- 1:02:07Speaker 2: fight for like the real, you know, the less. You know, the.
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: He's a 55?
- 1:02:13Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: No, what is he? He's 170. If you'd ever go
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: up just to put an end to the.
- 1:02:22Speaker 4: Like, I would fight at 170 if it was, like,
- 1:02:24Speaker 4: a really, really big fight, but I'm not trying to
- 1:02:26Speaker 4: make a run in the welterweight division, man.
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: Those guys are huge. Yeah. I used to get a
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: lot heavier, though. Like, the last couple years, I've been
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: walking around a lot lighter. Really?
- 1:02:35Speaker 4: Yeah, outside of training camp, I've been eating clean. You know, before,
- 1:02:38Speaker 4: I would get in shape during camp, and then after
- 1:02:41Speaker 4: the fight... eat pizza every day and enjoy life, you know,
- 1:02:44Speaker 4: but I've, the older I got, the easier it is
- 1:02:46Speaker 4: for me to just eat healthy and be all right.
- 1:02:47Speaker 4: I don't need to eat all that crazy stuff.
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: Right.
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: You just start caring about you. You just start having
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: a more of a general care about yourself.
- 1:02:54Speaker 2: Um, what else? Oh yeah. I saw this right here.
- 1:02:59Speaker 1: Furious parents offered version of school class photo without complex
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: needs pupils. So you can get, you can pay more money.
- 1:03:09Speaker 1: And if your school has like special needs kids or whatever,
- 1:03:12Speaker 1: they'll take them out of the photos at school.
- 1:03:17Speaker 2: Huh?
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: I mean, that's crazy to me, dude. It's just everything
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: you got to pay for. Now, soon they're going to
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: make it. They're going to start. Every kid is on
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: crutches in the picture, right? And if you pay a
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: little bit more, then a couple kids come off crutches.
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: Then somebody gets, you know, somebody will get you. Every
- 1:03:36Speaker 1: kid like loses like body hair or whatever. Just, it's
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: going to get, I feel like you have to keep
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: paying to get an actual picture.
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: Of your child, you know?
- 1:03:43Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: No, I didn't see that.
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: But yeah, everybody's going to start in a wheelchair and
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: the more you pay, then you finally get.
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: Get the crutches from the wheelchair. Yeah, yeah. A boot,
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: no crutches. Yeah, we keep moving. Just an arm brace. Yeah.
- 1:03:58Speaker 2: Shoulder sling, the more you pay. Yeah, neck brace. Right.
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: That's ridiculous.
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: Oh, man.
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: Um, yeah.
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: What do you feel like, man? Do you feel like
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: you're getting towards the end of your career? Do you
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: feel like you're just, you're figuring it out? Do you
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: feel like it's up to you? Do you feel like
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: it's up to the UFC? Where does it, what does
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: it feel like?
- 1:04:19Speaker 2: Kind of?
- 1:04:20Speaker 4: It's definitely up to me. And, uh, you know, my,
- 1:04:23Speaker 4: my wife, my coaches, they want me to keep going.
- 1:04:26Speaker 4: My wife wants me to stop on my coaches. No,
- 1:04:27Speaker 4: I still have it. Um, I'm just taking it one
- 1:04:30Speaker 4: fight at a time. I still feel good. Like I said,
- 1:04:32Speaker 4: I'm my wife wants me to stop though. My daughter
- 1:04:34Speaker 4: wants me to stop too.
- 1:04:35Speaker 2: Oh, she does.
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: What did she say? Well, you, yeah.
- 1:04:38Speaker 1: Well like, what is that like? Cause at a certain
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: point it kind of turns on for your kid. What's
- 1:04:41Speaker 1: going on.
- 1:04:42Speaker 4: She's old enough now. She knows that I fight, you know,
- 1:04:44Speaker 4: she knows what it is. Um, and she wants me
- 1:04:47Speaker 4: to be home. You know, when I do camps, I'm
- 1:04:49Speaker 4: going for eight weeks, they'll come out for two weeks.
- 1:04:51Speaker 4: We try not to do more than two weeks apart.
- 1:04:53Speaker 4: So I'll do like the first two weeks and they'll
- 1:04:55Speaker 4: meet me and I'll do the last two weeks. But, uh,
- 1:04:58Speaker 4: She doesn't want me to fight anymore. She doesn't want
- 1:05:00Speaker 4: to see me come home with stitches. You know, since
- 1:05:02Speaker 4: she was a baby, she's been like pulling stitches out
- 1:05:03Speaker 4: of my face and stuff after fights. Oh, that's insane. Yeah,
- 1:05:07Speaker 4: it's almost like.
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: On Lady and the Tramp when the kids meet at
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: the spaghetti or something a little bit.
- 1:05:15Speaker 2: It's a different version of that. Yeah.
- 1:05:17Speaker 1: Where the puppies meet or whatever. What's your favorite business
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: you have? You got involved in some businesses outside of work, man.
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: What's that been like for you? Becoming more of like
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: a business guy?
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: Is that.
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: enough of a thing to entertain you enough outside of
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: the sport and to keep you busy enough? Like, has
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: that started to tip the scales enough? I think that's
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: another thing that happens in people's lives who also have
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: the opportunity to get into businesses. At a certain point,
- 1:05:46Speaker 1: the business, you know, can start to become something that
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: still appeases them and makes them feel, you know, like busy,
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: like you like to stay busy.
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: Yeah. But it's about balance.
- 1:05:57Speaker 4: Like I can't do too much of the business because
- 1:06:00Speaker 4: it takes away from the fighting and fighting still my
- 1:06:02Speaker 4: main thing, but the business stuff keeps me busy.
- 1:06:05Speaker 2: It's fun. It's new.
- 1:06:06Speaker 4: You know, I'm learning a lot. Um, have the hot sauce,
- 1:06:08Speaker 4: have a bourbon, have a liquor store in Lafayette, um,
- 1:06:13Speaker 4: hop water. I'm, I'm, uh, partnering with them, you know,
- 1:06:16Speaker 4: just have a lot of stuff going on outside of
- 1:06:18Speaker 4: fighting that keeps me busy.
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: And, uh, it's, that's good, man. You know, like I said,
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: I have to be busy. I have to be busy.
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:06:24Speaker 2: But it's, but it's balance. Yeah. It's a balance.
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: So right now you train right now? Yeah, I'm going
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: to go box tonight. And this Friday I'm going to
- 1:06:32Speaker 1: do jiu-jitsu, but I'm still training.
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: Okay. Five-mile froths. What do you all do, five-mile Sundays?
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: Five-mile Sundays.
- 1:06:41Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, man.
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: Five miles is fun, huh? Yeah, I do it fasted.
- 1:06:44Speaker 4: Like at the end of my training camp, I do
- 1:06:46Speaker 4: 24-hour fasts and then finish my fast with a run.
- 1:06:50Speaker 2: Then I'll break my fast. For Run Madon or whatever? Nothing, huh? Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: That's not it, no. No, it's similar. Yeah. Somebody was
- 1:06:58Speaker 2: doing that, yeah, at this vape shop. It is Ramadan
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: right now, yeah. It's got to be, yeah. This fucking
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: guy wouldn't shut up about it. Amir, I probably know.
- 1:07:08Speaker 1: Yeah, could have been Amir. But yeah, this guy got
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: fucking vaping. I'm like, dude, if you vape enough fucking watermelon,
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: that counts as eating. If you do 200 puffs, dude,
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: that counts as eating.
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: March 10th into April 9th.
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: What other avenue can we go down here, Dustin? Is
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: there something else that you want to think about? How
- 1:07:26Speaker 1: have you been doing, man? I've been doing pretty good, dude.
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: I think, you know, I still, yeah, everything's been fun.
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: I think sometimes I get busy with work and it
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: feels like I don't even know what I'm doing. You're
- 1:07:42Speaker 1: just almost going through the motions sometimes. So it's like,
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: that feels tough sometimes. Or it just feels like a challenge,
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: I guess, like am I doing anything that means anything
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: or am I just like showing up to.
- 1:07:57Speaker 2: Work each day? Like clocking in. Yeah.
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: Even though it's your own job and things you want
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: to be doing, it's still like, sometimes it feels like that.
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: Um, what else? Yeah.
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: I still have a lot of trouble, like feeling like
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: proud of myself. You know, I think about that kind
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: of stuff a lot. And I talked about that with
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: people on the podcast, just like what it's like to
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: It's just so hard for me to, like, people are
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: always like, man, you should take a moment and just
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: feel happy. And it's like, it just, I always want to,
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: there's always a part of me that's trying to figure
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: out the next thing, you know? It's really hard to
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: just feel good about something, you know? So I don't
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: know what that's about.
- 1:08:43Speaker 2: What else outside of that? Your show's going good in Louisiana?
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: Yeah, dude, we had fun. That was some of my
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: best shows, man. I know you guys came out to
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: the last one at UNO and.
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: That was awesome.
- 1:08:54Speaker 1: We still have a lot of people that talk about
- 1:08:56Speaker 1: that you were there. I ran into a guy at
- 1:08:58Speaker 1: the gym the other day. He's like, yeah, you brought
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: out dust and that was awesome um but we had
- 1:09:03Speaker 1: some great shows this weekend nice um i just got
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: a cyber truck too oh you were telling me that
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: yeah you got it yeah how is it it's wild
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: bro i mean for one you feel like you kind
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: of work at lows kind of a little Because it
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: feels like you're supposed to be like delivering something to somebody,
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: but you never drop it off. What do you put
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: back there? I don't know. It's just the whole car
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: feels a little bit like an appliance.
- 1:09:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: So it, that it feels like, um, it feels like
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: sometimes somebody's just going to open up the back and
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: just put a TV dinner in it. You know, it
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: just has this like kind of, or just put a
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: load of laundry in there and just press a button.
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: You know, it has an appliance, he kind of feel.
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: But then it makes this sound when you go fast,
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: and it literally feels like you're going into the future.
- 1:09:50Speaker 2: Nice.
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: And some people don't know what it is. There was
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: a guy who, I don't know if he was homeless
- 1:09:55Speaker 1: or not, but he just seemed really homeless.
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: And he was like, what is it? What is it?
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: And then he just kind of started yelling at it
- 1:10:07Speaker 1: and just cracked a beer open.
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: And I was like, God. God.
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: I feel a little bit like, because people look over
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: at it.
- 1:10:17Speaker 2: And then, well, first I thought the windows were tinted, right?
- 1:10:19Speaker 2: And they're not. So I'm like, Elon, fucking how much to.
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: Tint these windows? Probably like 112 bucks, bro. And I
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: ordered this bitch for you.
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: I got a buddy that'll do it for you. Yeah. Oh,
- 1:10:29Speaker 2: you got a buddy here who'll do it?
- 1:10:30Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 1:10:31Speaker 2: Yeah, bro. I got to pull up on somebody, bro.
- 1:10:33Speaker 2: Get some of that Swamp Dog. You know what I'm saying, bro?
- 1:10:36Speaker 2: Just get it a little bit brackish, you know? Yeah, yeah. Sure.
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: But, So that's interesting. I think I was a little
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: bit embarrassed, like, at first, like, because everybody looks at it.
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: And you kind of don't want to be the center
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: of attention sometimes. So you're like, and yeah, and I
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: thought it was, so I'm in there, like, just being
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: alive and shit. And you're like, oh, everybody can see
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: in here. I thought nobody could see in. Because people
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: would be at stoplights just recording a lot of times.
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: And I'd be like, I'm safe in here, you know.
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: And then I'm not. And so that was dumb. But, yeah,
- 1:11:10Speaker 1: what's it like? It definitely feels like the future some.
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: It looks like the future.
- 1:11:17Speaker 2: Yeah. They have big tires on them, right?
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: Yeah, the tires feel like, they almost feel like they're
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: from some vehicle out of a.
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: Sci-fi movie or something. Yeah. It's got a sci-fi kind
- 1:11:30Speaker 2: of feel to it. I've only seen one in person. Yeah.
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: In Miami, yeah. You did? Yeah. What was it like?
- 1:11:37Speaker 2: At first I was like, I don't know how I
- 1:11:38Speaker 2: feel about it, but it's growing on me for sure.
- 1:11:40Speaker 2: It looks strange to me. It's cool. It's different. Yeah,
- 1:11:44Speaker 2: I was surprised.
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: I ordered it four years ago, and I got home,
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: and my buddy John Shahidi is close with Elon, and
- 1:11:51Speaker 1: they just got me like an early one of it.
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: Yeah, I ordered it four years ago, I think.
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: When did that order go out for Tesla first? I
- 1:12:02Speaker 1: didn't even know about them four years ago. Yeah, they
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: started taking orders. Yeah, Tesla can be 2019.
- 1:12:10Speaker 2: I'll put that $ 100 down on that site.
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: Because you've got to think, even if a million people
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: put it on, that's $ 100 million they made right there.
- 1:12:16Speaker 2: That's a lot of trucks to make.
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: Earnings call in October. I said demand was off the charts.
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: One million people have paid $ 100 in a refundable deposit
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: for this hybrid truck. So you think there's news we're
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: going to hear, Dustin? That's what I'm feeling out of you?
- 1:12:33Speaker 2: We'll see. We'll see. Okay, that's fair, man. Uh, cool, bro.
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: You're going to be, uh, people can come and see
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: you with Anthony Pettis. Yeah.
- 1:12:45Speaker 4: Uh, in Indiana next weekend, Anthony Pettis has his own
- 1:12:50Speaker 4: fight promotion. They're doing a big event up there. I'll
- 1:12:52Speaker 4: be watching, uh, fights with the fans, signing autographs, hanging out.
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:12:56Speaker 4: Um, and also UFC 300. I'll be at the Mohegan
- 1:12:59Speaker 4: sun doing a viewing party. There's a big sports book there.
- 1:13:02Speaker 4: So we're going to be watching the fights.
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: Okay. Bet.
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: Oh, nice man. And then are you going to go
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: see Tiago fight this week? So, yeah, Tiago's fighting Perry.
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: Mike Perry, huh? Yeah, in L.A. I want to go
- 1:13:16Speaker 2: to it. I'm just not sure yet. Yeah. God, that's
- 1:13:19Speaker 2: going to be wild. Yeah. It's going to be insane, bro.
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: Is this Tiago's first bare-knuckle fight?
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: No.
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: No, he was a champion. Oh, he was?
- 1:13:25Speaker 4: Uh-huh.
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: Oh, I got to get up on game, man. Yeah.
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: Have you ever been to a bare-knuckle event? No. Bro,
- 1:13:30Speaker 2: it's different. I don't know if I'm ready, bro. Like
- 1:13:32Speaker 2: the bone-on-bone.
- 1:13:33Speaker 4: Oh, man.
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: It's rough. It's rough. Oh, yeah.
- 1:13:37Speaker 1: There's got to be. There he is right there. Oh,
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: my God. There's a lot of organ donors in there.
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: Dude, Tiago is so tough, man. He's a vet. Legend
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: of the game.
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: Great coach as well. The nicest guy. If you didn't
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: tell me that, I would not even think it.
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: Yeah. He's solid, man.
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: Wow.
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: I think that last fight, though, he came to the
- 1:13:58Speaker 2: gym the next week. His hand looked like a balloon,
- 1:14:01Speaker 2: like a doctor glove that you blow up or something.
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: It was just like. He broke his fingers and knuckles.
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: That's wild.
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: That's going to be a war, man. Isn't it so
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: amazing how Mike Perry has found such a home in
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: this sport? This is perfect for him, man. He's the
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: face of bare-knuckle fighting now.
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: So wild.
- 1:14:22Speaker 4: His style and his grit, just how crazy he is.
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: This is perfect for him. Yeah.
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: It's amazing how it all kind of like things evolve
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: where there is a space for everybody, you know? Yeah.
- 1:14:34Speaker 2: He found his spot for sure. Wasn't Gerard Mearshart just
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: in this too? No, he's still in the UFC. Oh,
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: he is? Yeah, that was Luke Rockhold. Oh, yeah.
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: Rockhold's fighting this week or something or he just fought? No,
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: I think he's fighting karate combat versus Joe Schilling. Oh,
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: those are interesting. I haven't been in one of those.
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: You've been in one of those? No, I've never been
- 1:14:54Speaker 2: in one. Yeah. It's pretty much... Just like MMA, except
- 1:15:00Speaker 2: they might only grapple for a couple seconds if it
- 1:15:01Speaker 2: goes to the ground. So it's just like kickboxing with
- 1:15:03Speaker 2: small gloves. Yeah, there you go. Oh, that'd be interesting.
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: That's going to be a good one, man. Yeah. Dustin Poirier, man,
- 1:15:12Speaker 2: good to see you, bro.
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: Thank you so much for just the fights over the years,
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: giving us all like just, yeah, man, it's just been
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: so fun to be along for some of your journey.
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: And yeah, just give us inspiration, man. You know, you
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: give so much inspiration to us no matter your outcome,
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: I think these days that is, there's a lot of
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: times I want to give up and I'll just think
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: of how you are and I don't do it, you know?
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: And so I just want to say thank you on
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: behalf of, I know not just myself, man.
- 1:15:40Speaker 2: Thank you, man. So we appreciate you, bro.
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: I'm excited to see what happens next in all facets, baby.
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: Yeah. We'll see what happens this, this coming weekend or
- 1:15:51Speaker 2: two weeks away at UFC 300. I think that's going
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: to shake the division up a little bit. And then,
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: We'll see what's next. Let's go. Strappy Gilmore.
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: I will fucking punch somebody's fucking step-husband out. Dustin Poirier,
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: thank you so much, bro.
- 1:16:07Speaker 2: My man. cornerstone. Oh, but when I reach that ground,
- 1:16:22Speaker 2: I'll share this peace of mind I found. I can
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: feel it in my bones.
