- 0:00Speaker 1: Yeah, that.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Chuck Norris was chasing the Tyrannosaurus Rex. The rex was
- 0:06Speaker 2: not chasing the jeep. Murray Murry, you there. You love sandwiches. Huh,
- 0:11Speaker 2: Let's go to eighty It wow that Prime Time. Maybe
- 0:17Speaker 2: I had a crush on Betty Rubbell.
- 0:19Speaker 3: I honestly, until after the segment ended and we went
- 0:22Speaker 3: to commercial break, had no idea that Jonathan Coachman was black.
- 0:25Speaker 4: He caught them the game last night, although they won
- 0:28Speaker 4: the game. You're listening to too Gods in Company.
- 0:32Speaker 3: It is two Gods and Company presented by FanDuel and
- 0:34Speaker 3: the FanDuel Sportsbook.
- 0:35Speaker 4: Mikey A. Taylor busy all on zoom with me. T
- 0:39Speaker 4: Bob gonna join us an hour number two.
- 0:41Speaker 3: We'll have the Weekken Observations on a Wednesday, of course
- 0:45Speaker 3: for Tea Bob looking forward to that.
- 0:47Speaker 4: Taylor has an idea for baseball.
- 0:50Speaker 3: I don't know if it's to save baseball, but he
- 0:52Speaker 3: has an idea for baseball. He has some sound from
- 0:56Speaker 3: our radio show we'll be back on radio later today
- 0:59Speaker 3: that I would like to start with before we get
- 1:01Speaker 3: to Eric Spolstra, before we get to what's going on
- 1:04Speaker 3: with JJ Reddick and Luca who's never gonna win a title.
- 1:09Speaker 4: But we have some sound from the radio show here.
- 1:13Speaker 3: Now, we had Taylor on Martin Luther king Day, say
- 1:16Speaker 3: black up quarterback, and then he was off the hook
- 1:18Speaker 3: because I made the mistake of I don't know, I
- 1:21Speaker 3: was saying back and then I come black. Yeah, And
- 1:24Speaker 3: then Mike he took it to a whole different level.
- 1:27Speaker 5: Is he.
- 1:28Speaker 6: Why why I'm only I'm only now hearing the come
- 1:32Speaker 6: black line.
- 1:34Speaker 3: And listen, we're rushing here because is he has a
- 1:40Speaker 3: date in thirty minutes with Jim all right, so he
- 1:43Speaker 3: is he can't go an hour and a half without
- 1:49Speaker 3: going to the gym, and so we uh, but let's
- 1:51Speaker 3: start with this sound here. So again we had Taylor
- 1:55Speaker 3: say black up quarterback on Martin Luther king Day. He
- 1:59Speaker 3: was on the hook for a while. I said come black,
- 2:02Speaker 3: and then Mikey did.
- 2:03Speaker 1: This elbows are that bad?
- 2:06Speaker 7: He says he cannot physically open a bag of chips,
- 2:09Speaker 7: so he just ships switched.
- 2:16Speaker 1: He just got dumped.
- 2:22Speaker 5: A tough one.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Did you not hear that on radium?
- 2:27Speaker 4: I know, but did you get dumped? I don't know.
- 2:29Speaker 4: I'm not even.
- 2:29Speaker 7: Certain you did not hear that on radio? This is
- 2:33Speaker 7: the first time people are actually hearing what I had done.
- 2:36Speaker 5: Did we play that again?
- 2:37Speaker 6: Because the the extended s on the ships like made
- 2:41Speaker 6: it so much worse, because it's like coming to the
- 2:44Speaker 6: slow realization of what he's saying and then just sitting
- 2:47Speaker 6: in it for a second before he bailed.
- 2:49Speaker 1: His elbows are that bad.
- 2:51Speaker 7: He says he cannot physically open a bag of chips,
- 2:54Speaker 7: so he just ships switched.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Mike, you just got dumped.
- 3:03Speaker 4: No pun intended.
- 3:07Speaker 5: A tough one.
- 3:09Speaker 4: Good. Uh, he can't open a bag of chips, so
- 3:12Speaker 4: he just shits. He just sh.
- 3:17Speaker 6: Well, I guess it can't open it, right, Yeah, so
- 3:19Speaker 6: he just shits. O God, which if that was the case,
- 3:23Speaker 6: can it open? Can't open it up? Good to switch?
- 3:25Speaker 6: A Kringles definitely can poop in that can.
- 3:29Speaker 4: Let's yeah, did you sit with that all weekend? Mikey?
- 3:32Speaker 4: How do you? I?
- 3:34Speaker 7: You know, I had forgotten about it after the show
- 3:36Speaker 7: and then Iowa Sam sent me the clip and I
- 3:39Speaker 7: was like, nope, it was worse than I thought it was.
- 3:41Speaker 1: In the moment, I was like, did I say it?
- 3:43Speaker 1: I don't think I said no. I definitely said it.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Yeah, tell Iowa Sam you don't need that on a
- 3:47Speaker 3: Friday headed into your weekend.
- 3:49Speaker 4: Okay, you made the mistake. You're well aware of the mistake.
- 3:51Speaker 3: You certainly don't need to be reminded of the mistake
- 3:54Speaker 3: so you could enjoy your weekend.
- 3:56Speaker 4: That's all upsetting you.
- 3:57Speaker 1: Guys said bad things. I got dumped.
- 4:00Speaker 6: Big difference thinking of places to shit, Taylor, are you
- 4:05Speaker 6: in a model home at the moment?
- 4:07Speaker 5: There's nothing but empty white.
- 4:09Speaker 6: Shelves and a single mirror behind him, And it looks
- 4:13Speaker 6: like he either broke into an Ikea or is like
- 4:16Speaker 6: squatting in an empty home?
- 4:18Speaker 8: Is he I've been building Ikea furniture for the past
- 4:23Speaker 8: seventy two hours.
- 4:24Speaker 4: Yeah? Not well, no, is he You missed this.
- 4:28Speaker 3: He went to Waikea for the first time on his
- 4:29Speaker 3: birthday and he said there's nothing like it's his first
- 4:33Speaker 3: time at Ikea and he sends me a tax Nothing
- 4:36Speaker 3: can prepare.
- 4:37Speaker 4: You for your first trip to an Ikea.
- 4:39Speaker 5: That is so true, man.
- 4:41Speaker 6: I'd heard about ikeas for years and years, and I
- 4:44Speaker 6: drove by one down here in South Florida, like way
- 4:46Speaker 6: down south back a few years.
- 4:48Speaker 5: I guess I was going to Key West or something,
- 4:49Speaker 5: and I.
- 4:49Speaker 6: Was like, oh, look in Ikea and then they built
- 4:52Speaker 6: one up north and man, is that a project to
- 4:56Speaker 6: have to go through? It's like and frankly, all I'm
- 4:58Speaker 6: looking for is the meatballs. I heard something about their
- 5:01Speaker 6: having food over there. Yeah, maybe that was pre pandemic.
- 5:04Speaker 6: I'm not sure. But man, everything everywhere. You have to
- 5:08Speaker 6: look in every corner to find stuff, like everything has
- 5:12Speaker 6: crazy names. And then building it all. Man, No Swedes
- 5:16Speaker 6: know how to put almost everything you need in those boxes.
- 5:20Speaker 5: It's always going to miss a little something.
- 5:23Speaker 1: How is the Flugenstein going? It's kicking my ass? It
- 5:29Speaker 1: does that?
- 5:30Speaker 9: Does the Flugenstein kick your ass? Put it on the pole?
- 5:33Speaker 3: You fought the Flugenstein and the Flugenstein one.
- 5:38Speaker 1: I'm down at least three to zero right now. In
- 5:40Speaker 1: this Sees.
- 5:43Speaker 6: Coming Back, you go to Taylor's house and put a
- 5:46Speaker 6: book on the shelf, it just slides down.
- 5:49Speaker 8: I'm just trying to steal one game right now, make
- 5:53Speaker 8: it respectable, just to get to get it.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Gentlemen, gentleman sweep.
- 5:59Speaker 3: It does looked like a model home though, is he
- 6:01Speaker 3: is right? I've moved into a model home before.
- 6:05Speaker 5: That looks really like I don't want to buy furniture.
- 6:09Speaker 5: Just give me that one.
- 6:09Speaker 4: Oh, it's so convenient. I mean that it was a
- 6:11Speaker 4: model house.
- 6:12Speaker 3: They were showing the house off at a Toll brother's
- 6:14Speaker 3: property I used to live on, and I'm like, yeah,
- 6:16Speaker 3: this looks good, We'll take it.
- 6:17Speaker 5: I believe that is the entire premise of the Arrested Development.
- 6:23Speaker 4: I never watched Arrested Development. Good show.
- 6:25Speaker 1: You should.
- 6:26Speaker 5: It's only the best comedy show ever, I.
- 6:28Speaker 3: Know, but I'm not alone and not watching it. Like
- 6:30Speaker 3: the ratings were never were never great for that show, if.
- 6:32Speaker 6: They care, kind of a cult show, like after not
- 6:36Speaker 6: even because the numbers weren't good enough.
- 6:37Speaker 5: That's why I got canceled.
- 6:38Speaker 6: And they actually played into that in their third season
- 6:41Speaker 6: about them not having the numbers and cant and canceling
- 6:44Speaker 6: the show and begging people to save our Bluths and
- 6:47Speaker 6: all this stuff, save the family. And then after it
- 6:49Speaker 6: got canceled, especially and largely because that it was so
- 6:52Speaker 6: good and people were clamoring for it to continue. After
- 6:56Speaker 6: it got canceled, everybody got into it and it just
- 6:58Speaker 6: became a mega mega here.
- 7:01Speaker 7: There's actually a line in it, please tell your show
- 7:03Speaker 7: your friends about this show.
- 7:06Speaker 4: I thought you were gonna say shit again almost for Mikey.
- 7:15Speaker 3: But I feel better now because I'm off there, You're
- 7:18Speaker 3: still atted.
- 7:19Speaker 9: Who's gonna get Who's gonna get me off?
- 7:22Speaker 4: You know what?
- 7:23Speaker 6: It's It's interesting because his mistake was a common curse
- 7:28Speaker 6: word that if you say off of you know, live radio,
- 7:31Speaker 6: nobody's gonna care about, and was not aired. So the
- 7:34Speaker 6: only people who know that happened now that we've done
- 7:37Speaker 6: this are listeners of our podcast. But you guys, effectively
- 7:41Speaker 6: it could be considered racist for your mistakes, and I
- 7:44Speaker 6: think you're the worst.
- 7:46Speaker 4: Thanks smy come black, be your day.
- 7:52Speaker 8: To be fair to Steve Gotts. When Stu Gotts had
- 7:54Speaker 8: come black, he was talking about Indiana State's basketball team
- 7:57Speaker 8: with Larry Bird, who were probably very white.
- 8:00Speaker 3: Yes, the whitest team in the history of college basketball.
- 8:03Speaker 4: I believe Sycamores.
- 8:06Speaker 6: That had to be pat Riley's all white Kentucky team. No,
- 8:08Speaker 6: there was a whole movie about that, speakable. Does he
- 8:13Speaker 6: ever make a mistake? Because listen, if you had.
- 8:17Speaker 3: To gamble right now, Mike, you and who's gonna get
- 8:19Speaker 3: you off the hook? Between me, Taylor and Izzy, you're
- 8:23Speaker 3: certainly not choosing, Is he right?
- 8:24Speaker 1: No?
- 8:25Speaker 7: No is He's way to the odds are just not
- 8:28Speaker 7: even worth playing.
- 8:29Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 8:29Speaker 6: I think where you might find me making a mistake
- 8:33Speaker 6: is if we get a little too comfortable and I
- 8:35Speaker 6: just forget I'm on radio, because if that happened, I
- 8:37Speaker 6: might just drop two like purposeful curse words, and then
- 8:40Speaker 6: you know we're all doomed.
- 8:42Speaker 4: Taylor put it on the pole.
- 8:43Speaker 3: Do the only people is the only person in the
- 8:46Speaker 3: world that cares about the word shit radio?
- 8:54Speaker 4: Right?
- 8:54Speaker 3: You could say it and everyone just moves on with
- 8:56Speaker 3: their day. No one cares, right, conversation.
- 8:59Speaker 4: Does it stop?
- 9:00Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 9:00Speaker 6: My niece just got my sister just got a phone
- 9:03Speaker 6: call from my niece's teacher in school said that she
- 9:06Speaker 6: keeps saying what the fuck and we all need.
- 9:08Speaker 5: To be a little bit more careful about what we say.
- 9:10Speaker 6: And I'm like, yeah, my other nephew used to say
- 9:13Speaker 6: it as well, but he didn't enunciate correctly, so he
- 9:17Speaker 6: would say what the pump?
- 9:18Speaker 5: And so now we say that around.
- 9:19Speaker 6: Have me and Anthony say what the pump all the
- 9:21Speaker 6: time so he can get the curse word out of it,
- 9:23Speaker 6: but he still says it, And now people at school are.
- 9:25Speaker 5: Just like, what is he saying exactly?
- 9:28Speaker 7: The best part about that is the proper reaction to
- 9:30Speaker 7: getting a phone call from the teacher is what the fuckuck?
- 9:35Speaker 4: Get the fuck out of here. You didn't say that?
- 9:40Speaker 1: What is wrong with you? You keep saying? Dare you?
- 9:45Speaker 5: I will say I take the blame for that. I
- 9:48Speaker 5: think I say it when I drop in the house
- 9:49Speaker 5: more often than anybody else.
- 9:52Speaker 4: By the way, guys, happy March. We're here, March. It's arrived.
- 9:56Speaker 4: I miss March. I love March.
- 9:58Speaker 3: Is he the basketball starting to heat up? College basketball MBA.
- 10:03Speaker 3: We're getting close to playoff time and for me that's
- 10:05Speaker 3: the start of the season. But I am told here
- 10:08Speaker 3: that you want to talk, and I have no idea
- 10:10Speaker 3: what this is about, even though you told me about
- 10:13Speaker 3: fifteen minutes ago something in regards to Eric Spolsra.
- 10:16Speaker 4: We'll get to JJ Reddick here in just a second.
- 10:18Speaker 5: Well, first, see, I feel like you and Ish.
- 10:21Speaker 6: You guys are on the same page on so many
- 10:22Speaker 6: things and we don't even know it. Because I was
- 10:25Speaker 6: just having a conversation two days ago, two days ago,
- 10:28Speaker 6: three days ago March. First, I was like, why don't
- 10:31Speaker 6: we wish each other happy March? Why don't we wish
- 10:33Speaker 6: each other happy months. We talk about the beginning of
- 10:36Speaker 6: the week all the time. Monday, Oh, we hated it, whatever,
- 10:38Speaker 6: but it's a Monday. Hey, happy Monday, or you know,
- 10:40Speaker 6: welcome back, how was your weekend? Blah blah blah. We
- 10:42Speaker 6: do it obviously with years, Happy New Year. Why not
- 10:44Speaker 6: just a hey, happy March. Thank you Judy's for wishing
- 10:47Speaker 6: me a happy March.
- 10:48Speaker 4: I will have it.
- 10:48Speaker 3: Well, you're welcome. I mean, listen, March madness is right
- 10:51Speaker 3: around the corner. April it's there. Yes, it's also March fourth.
- 10:56Speaker 3: You missed your window. Come on, I haven't spoken to
- 11:00Speaker 3: him in a couple of days, and so I'm not
- 11:02Speaker 3: going to go out of my way to wish you
- 11:03Speaker 3: a happy March. Like I'm not going to call you
- 11:05Speaker 3: or send you a text. I barely do that on birthdays.
- 11:08Speaker 3: But when I see you and it's March, is he
- 11:10Speaker 3: is right? We should wish each other thank you a
- 11:13Speaker 3: happy March. So happy March everyone, Thank you.
- 11:16Speaker 5: I appreciate that, and I'll still take that. A few
- 11:17Speaker 5: days late.
- 11:18Speaker 6: I also makes me realize that we've made the fans
- 11:20Speaker 6: wait because we've been off radio for two days.
- 11:22Speaker 5: For the final twenty final ten.
- 11:25Speaker 4: I think final ten.
- 11:26Speaker 3: Yeah, man has been But don't worry, because tomorrow we
- 11:31Speaker 3: start the Bleacher Reports Top one hundred NA players of
- 11:34Speaker 3: all time.
- 11:34Speaker 4: How about that.
- 11:35Speaker 5: I'm not wearing at all.
- 11:38Speaker 4: Stuck outs here.
- 11:38Speaker 3: College basketball is NonStop, big games, tight spreads, momentum swings
- 11:43Speaker 3: every single night, and now fanduels giving you a way
- 11:47Speaker 3: to turn that energy into even bigger wins with a

- 11:55Speaker 3: You like the early tip, the rivalry game, the rank
- 11:58Speaker 3: match up, the late night co shootout, mixed spreads, totals, props,
- 12:03Speaker 3: whatever fits your read of the slate. Then just apply
- 12:05Speaker 3: your profit boost and instantly bump up that potential payout.
- 12:09Speaker 3: Go safe, Go spicy, Go with a team you've been
- 12:12Speaker 3: following all season. It's your parlay, your style now with
- 12:17Speaker 3: more upside behind it. I'm looking for senior leadership, great
- 12:21Speaker 3: guard play, and teams that are tenacious on the boards.
- 12:24Speaker 4: That's a recipe to win.
- 12:26Speaker 5: In March.

- 13:42Speaker 5: So I was thinking about SPO for a couple of reasons.
- 13:45Speaker 6: One, there was the interaction between JJ Redick and Luca
- 13:49Speaker 6: that got a little bit of attention recently UH during
- 13:52Speaker 6: a game on the bench. And then there was the
- 13:54Speaker 6: converse or the quote that Bam had in discussing Kalelware
- 13:59Speaker 6: basically saying that Kalel is a talent that he likes
- 14:03Speaker 6: playing with and that Coalel will listen to Bam more
- 14:07Speaker 6: than he listens to Spoke, right, which, on the surface, okay,
- 14:11Speaker 6: a player is going to listen to another player, probably
- 14:13Speaker 6: more than a coach, especially if it's a young player
- 14:15Speaker 6: maybe doesn't really have all the ins.
- 14:17Speaker 5: And outs of the NBA put together.
- 14:18Speaker 4: But Bam is a mentor of his right, I mean.
- 14:20Speaker 5: Yes, yes, yes, Bam is the captain.
- 14:22Speaker 6: He's the mentor to anybody who's willing to have him
- 14:25Speaker 6: as a mentor. But obviously from big to big it
- 14:27Speaker 6: works out well that way. But then I started thinking
- 14:29Speaker 6: about sort of spose time as the head coach and
- 14:36Speaker 6: how and why it's worked out so well. And if
- 14:40Speaker 6: you think about the timeline of things like well, think
- 14:44Speaker 6: about the Miami Heat for a second. They talk all
- 14:46Speaker 6: the time about how they like conflict, Right, they encourage
- 14:52Speaker 6: conflict because the best comes out of that. Right, If
- 14:54Speaker 6: people are arguing about something, whoever wins that argument is
- 14:57Speaker 6: probably going to, you.
- 14:58Speaker 5: Know, tell you, hey, this is better for the team.
- 15:00Speaker 6: Is better for us, better for you, whatever, and so
- 15:02Speaker 6: that conflict creates a little bit of crazy like they
- 15:06Speaker 6: had that with.
- 15:08Speaker 5: The Lebron Dwayne Chris Bosh teams.
- 15:12Speaker 6: The tension and the pressure created that element of you
- 15:16Speaker 6: have to go above and beyond to reach the goal
- 15:20Speaker 6: that we want to reach. I know we're talented, but
- 15:23Speaker 6: we have to reach within and bring that level of
- 15:26Speaker 6: nutty competitor out to match these expectations because there are
- 15:30Speaker 6: other super talented teams out there coming after us, and
- 15:33Speaker 6: they had enough of that, right, The pressure created that, Yes,
- 15:36Speaker 6: fast forward a little bit.
- 15:37Speaker 4: The talent helped though the talent.
- 15:39Speaker 5: Of course, the talent made it championship teams.
- 15:41Speaker 6: Right If it was less talented with the same amount
- 15:44Speaker 6: of crazy, maybe they get to the conference championship or
- 15:46Speaker 6: something like that, but they still maximize their ability. You
- 15:49Speaker 6: fast forward a little bit and you lose some of
- 15:52Speaker 6: that pressure, that tension when Lebron leaves, but it sort
- 15:55Speaker 6: of recovered some when you have Eudonnis Haslam right on
- 15:59Speaker 6: the team. And the reason it's important to have somebody
- 16:02Speaker 6: on the floor that matches your coach's level of intensity
- 16:06Speaker 6: and crazy is that the players like khalel Ware aren't
- 16:10Speaker 6: always going to listen to the coach. Some of them
- 16:13Speaker 6: are going to say, coach, how do you know what
- 16:15Speaker 6: level of crazy it takes for me.
- 16:17Speaker 5: To win out here?
- 16:18Speaker 6: You haven't even played at this level, right, So you
- 16:20Speaker 6: need somebody on the floor to be able to get
- 16:23Speaker 6: that out of them, to be able to somebody that
- 16:25Speaker 6: you respect and somebody that plays at that level. And
- 16:27Speaker 6: that was Eudnnis Haslam right for after he won the championships,
- 16:31Speaker 6: crazy respect that even somebody like Hassan Whiteside would have
- 16:34Speaker 6: to listen to him, right. And then you bring in
- 16:38Speaker 6: Jimmy Butler, which is sort of the perfect timing for
- 16:41Speaker 6: that because he is that level of crazy competitor. He
- 16:45Speaker 6: is the guy who's not even as talented as other
- 16:49Speaker 6: peers of his, but the effort and the willingness and
- 16:53Speaker 6: the little bit of crazy makes him their peer. Yes
- 16:58Speaker 6: when and that's again that helps Spolster because he doesn't
- 17:02Speaker 6: have to be the voice to get across to all
- 17:04Speaker 6: those players on the floor.
- 17:06Speaker 5: Now, look what happened.
- 17:08Speaker 6: Jimmy Butler not only leaves, but on his way out
- 17:11Speaker 6: undresses the coach basically, and I have some inside information
- 17:14Speaker 6: on this. If Spoe told him to go left.
- 17:19Speaker 5: Jimmy would go right just to mess with the coach.
- 17:22Speaker 6: Just at this point, they'd be at a spot where
- 17:25Speaker 6: he didn't want to be there. He obviously thinks he's
- 17:28Speaker 6: more credited for what the success of the team should
- 17:32Speaker 6: be credited than the coach himself, and so.
- 17:35Speaker 5: He now clashes with the coach.
- 17:37Speaker 6: Yes, Eudonis has them, can't save them because he's not
- 17:41Speaker 6: playing anymore. He can do that on the practice floor,
- 17:43Speaker 6: but on the actual floor, can't really save them because
- 17:46Speaker 6: the crazy that's on the floor is now not lockstep
- 17:50Speaker 6: with the coach.
- 17:50Speaker 4: Right.
- 17:51Speaker 3: Crazy who's on the floor has the ball in his
- 17:53Speaker 3: hands most of the time. Right, And when they were
- 17:57Speaker 3: beating the Milwaukee Bucks in the playoffs and making it
- 17:59Speaker 3: to the finals and Spoe same page as the time
- 18:02Speaker 3: went on, not so much.
- 18:04Speaker 5: And so not only does that take.
- 18:06Speaker 4: A little bit chip away a little bit of the.
- 18:08Speaker 6: Respect that Spoe gets from his other players, but now
- 18:12Speaker 6: that Jimmy's gone and Bam is your leader, and Bam
- 18:15Speaker 6: I love him to death. He's a great human being,
- 18:17Speaker 6: not that level of crazy, not the Jimmy Butler Lebron
- 18:21Speaker 6: James Pressure level of crazy.
- 18:23Speaker 5: He's just a quality dude.
- 18:25Speaker 6: Okay, So you take a little bit of that respect away.
- 18:30Speaker 5: From from Eric Spolstra.
- 18:32Speaker 6: You don't have the Eudonnas has them Jimmy Butler on
- 18:35Speaker 6: the floor to to you know, move that from the
- 18:39Speaker 6: bench to the floor. And you don't have the same stakes,
- 18:43Speaker 6: right because you're obviously not considered playoff or championship contenders,
- 18:47Speaker 6: and so that isn't going to be what drives him.
- 18:50Speaker 5: So you're left with players feel like they're.
- 18:54Speaker 6: Playing hard but not quite to the level that they
- 18:57Speaker 6: need to be to be great, to be to maximize
- 19:01Speaker 6: one thousand percent of their potential. And Spoe can hammer
- 19:04Speaker 6: at home all he wants, but you don't have the
- 19:06Speaker 6: guy on the floor doing it. And this is why
- 19:10Speaker 6: I believe Spoe has turned to the I'm going to
- 19:14Speaker 6: publicly criticize khalel Ware pretty much the only one available.
- 19:18Speaker 6: He's out of options, right because he's out of options
- 19:20Speaker 6: and he needs to find different ways to motivate these guys.
- 19:23Speaker 6: He did it some with Hassan Whiteside, which was necessary,
- 19:27Speaker 6: but obviously had the help of Youudnnis has them when
- 19:30Speaker 6: he was there. So you look at all that and
- 19:31Speaker 6: it's just a long way of saying, if you don't
- 19:34Speaker 6: have the player on the floor that demands more from
- 19:39Speaker 6: the his teammates than even the coach does, right, you're
- 19:43Speaker 6: not going to get the coach who can do that
- 19:47Speaker 6: same level of demand and direct the response from those players.
- 19:50Speaker 6: He can't be out there on the floor. That's why
- 19:52Speaker 6: he's pulling his hair out. That's why he's making these faces.
- 19:54Speaker 6: It drives him crazy because there's nobody else to match
- 19:58Speaker 6: that or teach that on the floor for those other guys.
- 20:01Speaker 3: And the care that you're talking about can show itself
- 20:03Speaker 3: in many different ways. It could simply be the best
- 20:06Speaker 3: player on your team, working harder, showing up earlier than
- 20:11Speaker 3: everyone else. Because if Michael's doing it, if Dwayne's doing it,
- 20:14Speaker 3: if Lebron's doing it, you better fucking fallow the line, right. Yeah,
- 20:18Speaker 3: So the locker room kind of polices itself once you
- 20:21Speaker 3: lose those leaders. So it's the combination of having those
- 20:24Speaker 3: guys their effort and their words as well, combined with
- 20:27Speaker 3: what the coach says, and they're locked up with Eric Spolstra.
- 20:31Speaker 3: When you lose your leaders and there isn't a great
- 20:34Speaker 3: player on the floor setting an example for the rest
- 20:36Speaker 3: of the team. Yes, your voice naturally becomes hollow, and
- 20:40Speaker 3: I think that's happened with Spolstro.
- 20:42Speaker 8: This kind of feels like a where there's smoke, there's
- 20:44Speaker 8: fire situation. Is he from the outside looking in? Are
- 20:48Speaker 8: we heading towards a place almost like John Harbaugh in
- 20:51Speaker 8: Baltimore where if you let Spoe go, a lot of
- 20:56Speaker 8: teams are going to be interested, for sure, But at
- 20:58Speaker 8: some point do you you kind of have to look
- 21:00Speaker 8: at it and be like, whatever we're doing here isn't working,
- 21:04Speaker 8: and both teams are better both parties are better off
- 21:07Speaker 8: going separate directions.
- 21:09Speaker 4: Gostra.
- 21:12Speaker 6: The reason I wouldn't compare it to Harbaugh in particular
- 21:16Speaker 6: is because the way people think of John Harbaugh is
- 21:20Speaker 6: as an organizational leader strictly, like he can organize things.
- 21:24Speaker 6: He can take the offensive coordinators game plan, take the
- 21:26Speaker 6: defensive coordinators game plan, know how to implement it, and again,
- 21:30Speaker 6: you know, because of his history, has the respect of
- 21:33Speaker 6: his guys. But Spoe is also an innovator, like spoken
- 21:36Speaker 6: to all that stuff and innovate, like the coaching change
- 21:39Speaker 6: or the offensive change that they made this year, completely
- 21:43Speaker 6: different with a good amount of the same players, completely
- 21:46Speaker 6: different than what they've been doing before, even go back
- 21:48Speaker 6: to the Lebron James Dwayne Wade years, like they needed
- 21:51Speaker 6: some level of switch, They needed some innovation to happen,
- 21:55Speaker 6: and some of that was because of Chris Bosh. Some
- 21:57Speaker 6: of that was because of Dwayne Wade, but he made
- 21:59Speaker 6: it work. So I think the Miami Heat, based on
- 22:03Speaker 6: what I'm saying, would rather be, would rather say to themselves, Oh,
- 22:07Speaker 6: we can just get another player that either has that
- 22:10Speaker 6: level of you know, Heat culture crazy, or we can
- 22:13Speaker 6: get a player that automatically raised the stakes and it's
- 22:16Speaker 6: just like, hey, guys, if you don't listen to me,
- 22:17Speaker 6: you're going to fall flat on your head.
- 22:19Speaker 5: Trust me.
- 22:19Speaker 6: I know I've done this before. So I don't think
- 22:22Speaker 6: it needs a new voice. I think you just need
- 22:24Speaker 6: to recreate the formula.
- 22:26Speaker 3: The Heat have had that player, maybe more so than
- 22:29Speaker 3: any other organization in the NBA that is in lockstep
- 22:33Speaker 3: with its coach for so long. It was Alonzo Morning
- 22:35Speaker 3: with Riley, it was Zoe a little bit with Spolstra,
- 22:39Speaker 3: Eudonnis Haslam with both Riley and Spolstra. Then it was Wade,
- 22:43Speaker 3: then it was Lebron, then it was Chris Bosh and so.
- 22:46Speaker 5: Lebron took him. What's that Lebron took a year, but
- 22:50Speaker 5: he eventually was yet.
- 22:51Speaker 3: Well, listen, I think the best thing that happened to
- 22:53Speaker 3: that team was them losing the first NBA Championship when
- 22:56Speaker 3: they lost to the Mavericks, because you know, it became
- 23:01Speaker 3: abundantly clear that hey, this isn't going to.
- 23:03Speaker 4: Be that easy. The Horball Lamar stuff. So there's two
- 23:07Speaker 4: ways Izzy.
- 23:07Speaker 3: The stars could just leave your team and you suddenly
- 23:09Speaker 3: don't have anyone who has your back and is setting
- 23:11Speaker 3: an example. Or in the case of John Horbon and
- 23:14Speaker 3: the Baltimore Ravens, that superstar has your bat, but then
- 23:19Speaker 3: he's not seeing the results that he wants to see,
- 23:21Speaker 3: and suddenly he no longer has your back, and you
- 23:24Speaker 3: know who leaves the coach, not the quarterback.
- 23:26Speaker 4: Right.
- 23:27Speaker 6: It's funny that you mentioned that Dallas series because what
- 23:30Speaker 6: was that team that he team missing?
- 23:33Speaker 5: It was missing all out Lebron.
- 23:35Speaker 6: He was too calculated, he was too trying to figure
- 23:38Speaker 6: things out. No, dude, that's when you needed to go nutty.
- 23:40Speaker 6: That's when you needed to just go absolute primal, which
- 23:43Speaker 6: is what Dwayne did. Who would have won MVP of
- 23:46Speaker 6: that series. Had they won it.
- 23:47Speaker 5: Lebron was sitting there calculated, now that point that other
- 23:50Speaker 5: team is super good.
- 23:52Speaker 6: You need to just put on the just the best
- 23:55Speaker 6: amount of crazy that you could put in there and
- 23:58Speaker 6: just go all out, and he just wasn't doing it.
- 24:00Speaker 3: Yep, you remember that title. Though we thought we had
- 24:02Speaker 3: it locked up. We I mean, listen, we were the
- 24:05Speaker 3: flagship station of the Heat. No listen, I negotiated the
- 24:08Speaker 3: deal to get the Heats right, So I was part
- 24:09Speaker 3: of the team. I was, and I also had season
- 24:11Speaker 3: tickets Section one eighteen about that sold that I was.
- 24:14Speaker 6: Still with Harold while they were still you know, having
- 24:17Speaker 6: columnists travel to events.
- 24:19Speaker 3: But you remember they were shadow boxing like Game two
- 24:22Speaker 3: at home, Wade and Lebron in the corner thought the
- 24:24Speaker 3: series was over. And I did think right that moment,
- 24:27Speaker 3: and so did they, that they were not gonna win
- 24:30Speaker 3: just one. They were gonna win two, three, four, five, six,
- 24:33Speaker 3: seven and eight straight. And I thought it was gonna
- 24:36Speaker 3: be that easy. And then the MAVs came back, they lost,
- 24:38Speaker 3: and the Heat went on their run.
- 24:39Speaker 4: What a shame, by the.
- 24:40Speaker 6: Way, because the shadow boxing thing was so cool and
- 24:44Speaker 6: that's what I want my superstars to be man like,
- 24:46Speaker 6: I want Michael and Scottie go back in time and
- 24:48Speaker 6: do a little choreographed dance every time they do something dope.
- 24:51Speaker 6: And then because the Mavericks remembered that and it happened
- 24:54Speaker 6: right in front of their bench, they used it as
- 24:56Speaker 6: the rallying cry for why they turned things around.
- 24:58Speaker 5: I'm like, man, that sucks. Nobody's you gonna do cool
- 25:00Speaker 5: shit again?
- 25:01Speaker 4: Taylor? Are you looking up the shadow boxing between Lebron
- 25:04Speaker 4: and Wade?
- 25:05Speaker 3: It was glorious, It really was. I mean there was
- 25:07Speaker 3: a fucking party going on the Ana from the Map series. Yeah,
- 25:12Speaker 3: the Maps series first season with the Heat. I think
- 25:15Speaker 3: if someone hit a big three in the corner and
- 25:17Speaker 3: Wade and want full recap, just go back and listen
- 25:20Speaker 3: to four years of Heat. I was hosted by Israel
- 25:22Speaker 3: Gutierrez the iHeartRadio.
- 25:25Speaker 8: Yes, wasn't there also something where like Dirk was sick
- 25:30Speaker 8: and Lebron and Wade and Bosh were like mocking him.
- 25:33Speaker 6: For being sick crazy, So they were essentially suggesting that
- 25:37Speaker 6: Dirk was faking an illness because he wasn't playing that well.
- 25:41Speaker 6: And so when they walked by him or something, or
- 25:43Speaker 6: walked by a camera they were over there and it
- 25:46Speaker 6: was I'm telling you, man, that was the Lebron James
- 25:50Speaker 6: effect on Dwayne Wade, because I don't think Dwayne Wade
- 25:52Speaker 6: would ever have done that if he wasn't made.
- 25:55Speaker 3: They were feeling good about themselves. Yes, Dwayne Wade was
- 25:57Speaker 3: mister professional. He never would have done that. He knew
- 25:59Speaker 3: what it took, would champion Gypsy one mom without Lebron.
- 26:02Speaker 1: I mean, and still, you know what, dark head, what
- 26:05Speaker 1: the last laugh?
- 26:06Speaker 3: That's you know what? The cure for Dirk was shadow boxing.
- 26:13Speaker 3: I mean, Derk Novinsky can say for the rest of
- 26:16Speaker 3: the time, I never lost to Lebron James in the finals.
- 26:20Speaker 3: That was that other Texas team, Right, He's the only one,
- 26:22Speaker 3: even though san Antonio beat him the second time around.
- 26:25Speaker 3: Many guys on those teams lost to them the first
- 26:27Speaker 3: time around, right, Right.
- 26:30Speaker 6: But yeah, And so I think about that with the
- 26:34Speaker 6: heat and I'm like, Okay, that makes so much sense
- 26:36Speaker 6: as to why, Like I get frustrated as hell watching them,
- 26:39Speaker 6: and I'm like, you guys need a defensive stop, and
- 26:42Speaker 6: guys are getting layups on you left and right, and
- 26:44Speaker 6: it's just like, yeah, it's a different it's a different animal.
- 26:47Speaker 6: It's a different way of thinking. If you remember, man,
- 26:50Speaker 6: if you remember Jimmy Butler one game, a regular season
- 26:53Speaker 6: game against the Phoenix Suns, and it was down to
- 26:55Speaker 6: a final possession and he was just playing one on
- 26:57Speaker 6: one defense against Devin Booker and took so much pride
- 27:00Speaker 6: in shutting that dude down and getting that block on
- 27:03Speaker 6: the last possession. I can't remember a time this season
- 27:07Speaker 6: that the Heat have gotten a huge defensive stop late
- 27:12Speaker 6: in a close game.
- 27:12Speaker 5: I haven't, and that was that's their calling card.
- 27:15Speaker 6: So it's just it's it's a very frustrating thing to
- 27:17Speaker 6: watch when you know, I feel like you know the
- 27:20Speaker 6: exact reason.
- 27:21Speaker 3: Why, uh do you guys feel Listen, it took almost
- 27:23Speaker 3: a year, I feel like nine months or so, but
- 27:26Speaker 3: we have finally hit Iszi's wheelhouse.
- 27:28Speaker 4: I mean, he is well. I couldn't stand the conversation Spultra.
- 27:35Speaker 6: I mean, oh man, Now, if you want to take
- 27:38Speaker 6: me to the mid to mid twenty teens and talk
- 27:41Speaker 6: Miami he basketball, you'll have me here for ten hours.
- 27:44Speaker 6: I will even skip the gym.
- 27:47Speaker 4: Now you won't. Now you'll work out while I do it.
- 27:50Speaker 1: None of us believe that.
- 27:52Speaker 4: No one believes that.
- 27:56Speaker 3: Well, it appears as he will will get you out
- 27:58Speaker 3: here for your date with Jim. But it appears that
- 28:01Speaker 3: JJ Reddick. None of the players like it, no leaders,
- 28:04Speaker 3: no one likes him. Everyone's bumping him. Lebron I thought
- 28:06Speaker 3: liked him. They were doing a podcast together. Then he
- 28:08Speaker 3: had an altercation with Luca on the sidelines. He's had
- 28:11Speaker 3: one with Lebron jj Reddick. I don't know how long
- 28:14Speaker 3: it's gonna last for him in LA.
- 28:16Speaker 6: You know, it's funny reading the quotes from the fallout
- 28:18Speaker 6: of that, JJ saying it felt like a normal interaction.
- 28:21Speaker 5: Lucas saying, we have a good relationship. It's all good.
- 28:23Speaker 6: It reminds me of a little bit of what I
- 28:27Speaker 6: was talking about before. But I feel like Luca is
- 28:31Speaker 6: the type of guy that just says, listen, coach, I
- 28:34Speaker 6: don't need you, okay, I just need the right guys
- 28:37Speaker 6: around me. Because his level of crazy is knowing that
- 28:41Speaker 6: he can put up fifty in any game if he
- 28:43Speaker 6: really wants to, and if the threats around him are there.
- 28:46Speaker 6: And so Luca, because he doesn't love the NBA like that, right,
- 28:51Speaker 6: He's not like Lebron. His whole life is meant to
- 28:54Speaker 6: match Michael Jordan. He doesn't care that much. He just
- 28:57Speaker 6: kind of wants to show off a little bit. It
- 28:58Speaker 6: doesn't match the same level of desire as JJ or
- 29:02Speaker 6: what they're asking for.
- 29:04Speaker 5: So those two can.
- 29:05Speaker 6: Get along off the floor all they want on the
- 29:07Speaker 6: floor because they see things differently, They're always gonna clash
- 29:09Speaker 6: like that and maybe it'll work out, maybe it won't,
- 29:12Speaker 6: but it's just they don't personality wise, definitely don't match.
- 29:17Speaker 3: You guys, want to revisit that conversation about apologizing to
- 29:20Speaker 3: Nico Harrison. I mean, anyway, I think Stephen Ay apologized
- 29:25Speaker 3: to I saw someone apologize to him after I apologize
- 29:28Speaker 3: to him.
- 29:28Speaker 4: I was first. I mean, I was kind of look
- 29:30Speaker 4: at where Anthony did. What did they get back?
- 29:32Speaker 6: Just do the actual math on what they got back
- 29:35Speaker 6: for Luka doncics because it no longer includes Anthony Davis.
- 29:38Speaker 4: Not a good trade.
- 29:38Speaker 5: He does not deserve an apology.
- 29:40Speaker 4: It's it's not what they got back, it's what they
- 29:42Speaker 4: got rid of.
- 29:42Speaker 3: And what they got rid of is a lazy loser
- 29:44Speaker 3: who's never in shape, who's never gonna win an NBA time,
- 29:47Speaker 3: who can get I mean, seriously, by.
- 29:50Speaker 4: The way, you know it took me a while to
- 29:53Speaker 4: get to this.
- 29:54Speaker 3: When when Spoe tells you, who has three rings on
- 29:56Speaker 3: his finger, to go left, and you have no rings
- 29:59Speaker 3: on your finger, go fucking left? How does that say
- 30:02Speaker 3: You can't go right when the coach tells you to
- 30:04Speaker 3: go left until you have a ring on your finger?
- 30:07Speaker 4: Tailor put that on the poll.
- 30:08Speaker 3: Can you go left when the coach tells you to
- 30:10Speaker 3: go right if the coach has three rings and you
- 30:13Speaker 3: have none?
- 30:14Speaker 4: I mean, who the hell is Jimmy Butler?
- 30:17Speaker 6: To take me a while to figure out that pole question,
- 30:19Speaker 6: But yeah,
