- 0:00Speaker 1: Four Finger Discount Ude.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Hey, guys, welcome to a special episode of four Finger Discount.
- 0:20Speaker 2: This is actually the first episode fourth a discat we're
- 0:22Speaker 2: recording in twenty twenty five. You'll notice there's no guy here,
- 0:25Speaker 2: but I'm joined by my other bearded friend. It is
- 0:28Speaker 2: Alia Jay O'Neil from the Simpsons Index kind of podcast.
- 0:31Speaker 2: You still doing that podcast? Hey? Doing man? Hey?
- 0:33Speaker 1: Yes, I'm still doing it for a little while longer,
- 0:36Speaker 1: at least, we're about to catch up with the show.
- 0:38Speaker 1: We've reviewed seven hundred and twenty episodes now and just
- 0:42Speaker 1: we're we're finishing off the last of it before the
- 0:44Speaker 1: next season comes along and we've got a whole new
- 0:46Speaker 1: batch of stuff to record.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Yes, but you said you're doing a new show now,
- 0:49Speaker 2: so let's plug that quickly before we get into today's thing,
- 0:52Speaker 2: which is the best Simpsons and worst vacation episodes. But
- 0:55Speaker 2: you said you've started a new one. Is it for
- 0:56Speaker 2: Patreon or is it going to be a new show
- 0:58Speaker 2: that anyone can listen to on Spotify wherever.
- 1:00Speaker 1: It's kind of both, so it's out on the free feeds,
- 1:03Speaker 1: you know. If we're talking vacations. One of the ways
- 1:05Speaker 1: I like to spend a vacation is you know, just
- 1:08Speaker 1: sitting back and getting some time in with movies, catching
- 1:11Speaker 1: up with all the films that I've been meaning to watch.
- 1:14Speaker 1: And yeah, the premise of this new podcast is called
- 1:17Speaker 1: Starring Springfield, So we are reviewing the movies that star
- 1:21Speaker 1: the cast of the Simpsons, and it's been a really
- 1:24Speaker 1: fun experiment. Just this criteria means we just get such
- 1:27Speaker 1: a weird, interesting array of films. And yeah, it's not
- 1:31Speaker 1: just animated films, because you know the Simpsons core cast,
- 1:34Speaker 1: they're actors as well. So we're getting, you know, from
- 1:38Speaker 1: cinematic classics like this is Spinal Tap starring Harry Shearer,
- 1:43Speaker 1: to weird obscured, damn near forgotten films like nineteen ninety
- 1:49Speaker 1: two's Toys.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Can I throw one out there? You have you done
- 1:52Speaker 2: this one yet? Because I just realized. I didn't realize
- 1:54Speaker 2: Harry Shier was in it until the kids started watching yesterday,
- 1:56Speaker 2: because this is a beloved film from when I was
- 1:58Speaker 2: a kid. But it is Little Giant from nineteen ninety four,
- 2:02Speaker 2: I believe, with Rick Moranis and Ed O'Neill as two
- 2:06Speaker 2: brothers rival football coaches in a local town competing to
- 2:09Speaker 2: be the dominant team in the small town in America.
- 2:11Speaker 2: It's got Harry Shehiert as the commentator in it. You
- 2:13Speaker 2: have you done this film yet? No, Little Giants. It
- 2:16Speaker 2: is delightful.
- 2:18Speaker 1: No, I've just pulled up the wiki of it. I'm
- 2:21Speaker 1: not a big sports fan, but oh my gosh, I
- 2:23Speaker 1: love a sports movie.
- 2:24Speaker 2: You know. It's the Mighty Ducks in Peewee football, is
- 2:26Speaker 2: what it is.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Ah, you've sold me. Yeah, I'm looking. Yeah, kids' sports film.
- 2:31Speaker 1: That's gonna be a whole lot of fun. Yeah, so
- 2:34Speaker 1: we get the movie suggested from our Patreon page. Our
- 2:37Speaker 1: wonderful heroes over there suggest the movie. So yeah, I
- 2:40Speaker 1: really hope someone suggest gets on and suggests Little Giants,
- 2:44Speaker 1: because yeah, this looks like fun. I might just watch
- 2:46Speaker 1: this in my own Watch it, mate, just watch it.
- 2:48Speaker 1: I'll give you access to I don't think it's not
- 2:49Speaker 1: any streaming service. I don't think it is, but I've
- 2:52Speaker 1: got I've got my PLEXI I'll give you access to
- 2:54Speaker 1: my plex.
- 2:54Speaker 2: You can watch it on there, because it's fantastic.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Man, we come into that a lot because there's a
- 2:58Speaker 1: lot of obscure films and like movies that are damn
- 3:01Speaker 1: near close to becoming lost media, like we're about to
- 3:04Speaker 1: review The Christmas Path with an obscure Maggie Rosewell movie
- 3:08Speaker 1: that stars a child Shylah Boff And recently also we
- 3:13Speaker 1: reviewed the Aristocrats documentary, which was surprisingly hard to find
- 3:18Speaker 1: despite being a Gillette pen documentary which stars both Hank
- 3:22Speaker 1: Azaria and Harry Sheer giving their tellings of the famous
- 3:25Speaker 1: Aristocrats joke.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Yeah, there we go. Yeah, when I spoke to Hank,
- 3:29Speaker 2: he was just saying how we had it on the
- 3:31Speaker 2: tuned in Jim Comings podcast a few weeks ago, and
- 3:34Speaker 2: he was saying, how still to this day he has
- 3:36Speaker 2: no self confidence when it comes to his acting. He
- 3:38Speaker 2: just almost like loathes his performances, so which is quite incredible.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Wild because out of a lot of the movies, like
- 3:45Speaker 1: Hankazaria comes up a lot because he has put in
- 3:48Speaker 1: a lot with you know, in terms of doing projects
- 3:50Speaker 1: outside of the Simpsons and Friends.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Was a big one. Yeah, that's right.
- 3:55Speaker 1: And yeah, also recently on starring Springfield, we watched Night
- 3:58Speaker 1: of the Museum Too, Night Out the Museum Too rather
- 4:02Speaker 1: where he's playing the Egyptian guy, a guy that's come
- 4:06Speaker 1: back from the past.
- 4:07Speaker 2: Great films two great films man.
- 4:09Speaker 1: He's just eating a big old Ham sandwich in that movie,
- 4:11Speaker 1: and it's a delight to see. It's weird to hear
- 4:14Speaker 1: that he has any lack of confidence, because that role
- 4:18Speaker 1: and that character is all confidence.
- 4:20Speaker 2: He's so good in it. Well, he essentially said to
- 4:23Speaker 2: us that he after every film he's finished, he always
- 4:25Speaker 2: comes out of it thinking he's ruined it for everybody else.
- 4:28Speaker 2: He can't watch his performances. I don't know whether it
- 4:30Speaker 2: was us looking for us to go, nah, you're great, hand,
- 4:33Speaker 2: you're the bed. But but Hank was absolutely delight to
- 4:38Speaker 2: talk to. You can find out on our tunim of
- 4:39Speaker 2: Jim Cummings feed as well speak or co host with
- 4:43Speaker 2: with Disney Voice acting legend Jim Cummings and his steps
- 4:46Speaker 2: on Chris, who is the son of Tilk from Stargate.
- 4:49Speaker 1: I made a mini guest appearance on that podcast.
- 4:53Speaker 2: Was it when we had Bill fab Who who was
- 4:55Speaker 2: on when you walked in? I'm not sure. I just
- 4:57Speaker 2: saw that.
- 4:58Speaker 1: I was like, I came in to the podcast too
- 5:01Speaker 1: early and who were doing that other podcast? And I
- 5:03Speaker 1: left as quickly as I could. Yeah, prantically try to
- 5:07Speaker 1: find the at lead conversation.
- 5:09Speaker 2: But exaid to me, who was that guy? A good time?
- 5:16Speaker 2: Just go oh hey, what's going on here? Podcast? But
- 5:19Speaker 2: we're here today because I figured, you know, it's still
- 5:21Speaker 2: people are still in somewhat vacation mode. Most people have
- 5:23Speaker 2: gone back to work. I'm lucky enough, fortunate enough not
- 5:25Speaker 2: have to go to a workplace. I'll work from home.
- 5:27Speaker 2: But I'm still in somewhat vacation mode because I think
- 5:30Speaker 2: once the kids go back to school, I'll feel like
- 5:32Speaker 2: I'm properly back at work again, because when the kids
- 5:34Speaker 2: always here, it's just it's hard to get anything done.
- 5:35Speaker 2: What I happened getting done, I was getting the studio emrange.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Maybe see if youre watching the video here. I've got
- 5:39Speaker 2: my old school TV haven't got turned on, but I've
- 5:42Speaker 2: got their all my consoles set up, so I've got
- 5:44Speaker 2: the PlayStation one, PlayStation two, s nests, Nest this with
- 5:47Speaker 2: the Zappa gun, got sixty four also not ready to go.
- 5:50Speaker 2: I've got my Simpsons VHS tape, so got my old DVDs.
- 5:53Speaker 2: It's just it's delightful, but we're doing here today, Simpsons.
- 5:57Speaker 2: The best and worst of the vacation episodes focus more
- 6:00Speaker 2: so on the best ones essentially what I said, pull
- 6:03Speaker 2: the curtain back a bit. I said to Elliott, you
- 6:05Speaker 2: sent me a list of ones you want to talk about,
- 6:06Speaker 2: and I'll add all subtract and the list you sent
- 6:08Speaker 2: through is pretty much spot on. Now, what defines a
- 6:11Speaker 2: vacation episode. I was originally thinking maybe it's just whenever
- 6:14Speaker 2: they leave Springfield, and in that note, you could talk
- 6:16Speaker 2: about Lemon of Troy, you could talk about dance and home,
- 6:19Speaker 2: you can talk about anything when they're leaving Springfield. But
- 6:22Speaker 2: I think that's not a vacation episode. Of vacation episodes
- 6:24Speaker 2: when they're genuinely going on a holiday to get away
- 6:27Speaker 2: from Springfield, not for work or anything like that. So
- 6:29Speaker 2: that takes those ones out of it. But the list
- 6:31Speaker 2: you've sent through is pretty spot on. I'm just reading
- 6:34Speaker 2: through here again. There's some new ones here, some new
- 6:36Speaker 2: episodes that I haven't seen before. And the reason I
- 6:40Speaker 2: haven't sent it because what I do is with the
- 6:43Speaker 2: of the season twenty now with the podcast, I don't
- 6:46Speaker 2: want to get too far ahead. I like to try
- 6:47Speaker 2: and stay in the season twenty vibe that mode. So
- 6:51Speaker 2: we're reviewing each episode as if it's essentially watching it
- 6:53Speaker 2: as an ad on TV. Does that make any sense?
- 6:55Speaker 2: You know what I mean?
- 6:56Speaker 1: Yeah, our thing on the Simpsons Index, you know, we
- 6:59Speaker 1: were comparing three episodes at a time, one from each decade.
- 7:02Speaker 1: We were taking a kind of random watch approach, and
- 7:07Speaker 1: that has its benefits and its drawbacks. But yeah, for
- 7:11Speaker 1: you to do it chronologically, I understand not wanting to
- 7:14Speaker 1: read ahead and get ahead of the class, so to speak,
- 7:17Speaker 1: because you know, it keeps you in that one mode.
- 7:19Speaker 1: The way we do it, it means we kind of
- 7:21Speaker 1: forget about eras and the moods of the time of
- 7:24Speaker 1: the thing that we're in.
- 7:25Speaker 2: I have found that the closer we get to the
- 7:27Speaker 2: later episodes through in season twenty now, the more we
- 7:30Speaker 2: find our soundes. Going do do a classic one this week? Well?
- 7:35Speaker 1: Yeah, that was the benefit of doing three at a
- 7:37Speaker 1: time and going a twenties, teens and then a classic era,
- 7:42Speaker 1: because we'd always get like the recalibration of a classic era,
- 7:45Speaker 1: because say what you bill about the new era, but
- 7:47Speaker 1: it's certainly different to classic Simpsons. So just being able
- 7:52Speaker 1: to go back and go, oh, okay, this is what
- 7:53Speaker 1: the show was when it was at its most popular
- 7:55Speaker 1: and firing on all cylinders and things and yeah, at
- 7:59Speaker 1: the moment when we've only got new ones to review, Yeah,
- 8:01Speaker 1: I have to just go back in my own time
- 8:03Speaker 1: and you know, Chuck on a classic one, just to
- 8:06Speaker 1: recenter myself.
- 8:08Speaker 2: I just find the reason I didn't want to sort
- 8:10Speaker 2: of compare ones, because I find once you start comparing eras,
- 8:13Speaker 2: that's when you start really nitpicking things. And I found
- 8:16Speaker 2: with doing it the way we do it nothing against
- 8:19Speaker 2: the way you've done it. Obviously, it's been a huge
- 8:20Speaker 2: success the way we're doing it. Just say, season nineteen,
- 8:23Speaker 2: we just finished it. I don't think season nineteen our
- 8:25Speaker 2: reviews were anywhere near as negative as they probably would
- 8:29Speaker 2: have been had we been comparing it at the same
- 8:31Speaker 2: time with a golden ear one, because I like to
- 8:33Speaker 2: try and, as I said, review these episodes as if
- 8:35Speaker 2: we are watching it in real time when the show
- 8:37Speaker 2: originally aired. What was the mindset of a Simpsons fan
- 8:40Speaker 2: when season nineteen was on, and watching those ones back
- 8:45Speaker 2: to back to back, they don't seem as bad. I
- 8:47Speaker 2: guess they sort of just deflate and bring down your
- 8:50Speaker 2: expectations to the point where you go, ah, it's fine,
- 8:52Speaker 2: you know, yeah, so, but yeah, I actually quite enjoyed
- 8:56Speaker 2: season nineteen. I thought there's probably maybe two or three
- 8:58Speaker 2: episodes that just were any good. However, the last episode
- 9:01Speaker 2: I believe we reviewed on the feed here a flashback
- 9:03Speaker 2: one with Homer and Marge where they nearly cheated on
- 9:06Speaker 2: each other. Oh, the Dangerous Curves. Dangerous Curves. That is
- 9:09Speaker 2: the worst episode of the Simpsons. We have reviewed it
- 9:11Speaker 2: to date.
- 9:12Speaker 1: It is horrific, even we didn't give it full fail marks.
- 9:16Speaker 1: But yeah, I'll listen to that podcast of yours and
- 9:18Speaker 1: I'm like, yeah, I remember that one that wasn't good.
- 9:22Speaker 2: It's just it infuriated me. I don't get angry very
- 9:26Speaker 2: often at the Simpsons, but that one just so.
- 9:29Speaker 1: I guess that's kind of a vacation episode, isn't it is?
- 9:32Speaker 1: Its three at once because they're going to that holiday house.
- 9:35Speaker 2: True. Yeah, that can go on the worst list. Yeah,
- 9:39Speaker 2: let's talk about some of the best. Now. The first
- 9:41Speaker 2: one you got on the list here is one of
- 9:43Speaker 2: the earliest episodes of the Simpsons. I think it's episode
- 9:46Speaker 2: seven or six, I want to say the show. I
- 9:49Speaker 2: think it's somewhere close to there. It's the Call of
- 9:52Speaker 2: the Simpsons. Now, this is one, dare I say one
- 9:55Speaker 2: of the more iconic episodes, specifically because they always shared
- 9:58Speaker 2: the clip of Homer and Bart with the rabbit trap
- 10:01Speaker 2: in all the Kip shows, So I think people remember
- 10:03Speaker 2: it for that. But the Call of the Simpsons, What
- 10:06Speaker 2: made you put that on the list for best vacation episodes?
- 10:09Speaker 1: Yeah, Look, there's certainly in the years been a bit
- 10:12Speaker 1: of mixed opinions on season one. A lot of people
- 10:15Speaker 1: will talk about what the classic era of the show
- 10:18Speaker 1: truly is, what seasons are the classics, and one I
- 10:21Speaker 1: think unfairly gets left out of the conversation a lot
- 10:24Speaker 1: of the time. And it's episodes like this that have
- 10:27Speaker 1: this incredible ambition for what this show could be. And
- 10:32Speaker 1: I think they're really going out on a limb in
- 10:35Speaker 1: this one, you know, a tree limb. They're trying to
- 10:37Speaker 1: catch a rabbit, so to speak, and they're really trying
- 10:40Speaker 1: hard with a show that's very new, very untested, and
- 10:44Speaker 1: could possibly just get canceled after one season. I think
- 10:46Speaker 1: it's quite a bold move to put the Simpson family
- 10:50Speaker 1: in this situation in the first place. And yeah, of
- 10:53Speaker 1: course some season one stuff it looks a little goofy
- 10:56Speaker 1: in hindsight, and there's some more flat moments but the
- 11:00Speaker 1: whole thing of Homer getting mistaken.
- 11:02Speaker 2: Is Bigfoot will always amuse me.
- 11:04Speaker 1: And I think the progression of that and Maggie and
- 11:07Speaker 1: the Bears, I think this story has got a lot
- 11:10Speaker 1: of that early subversion of the Simpsons that works very well.
- 11:14Speaker 1: And yeah, it is kind of a subversion of the
- 11:16Speaker 1: whole family getting an RV and taking a vacation because
- 11:20Speaker 1: it's just it's not going right from the start, is it.
- 11:23Speaker 2: Dad thinks he knows what's going on, but he has
- 11:25Speaker 2: no idea.
- 11:25Speaker 1: Oh, the experienced Woodsman very relatable.
- 11:28Speaker 2: I think this episode for me, if I went back
- 11:30Speaker 2: and rewatch it now, would be a lot more relatable
- 11:32Speaker 2: as someone who has two small kids, because I am
- 11:34Speaker 2: now Homer, I'm not going Dad, you don't know what
- 11:37Speaker 2: you're doing. Remember memories of my dad. My dad wasn't
- 11:39Speaker 2: experienced woosman, so he always knew it was going on.
- 11:41Speaker 2: You just you said, my dad, into the outback and
- 11:43Speaker 2: you'll find a way to five, you know what I mean.
- 11:44Speaker 2: He's just one of those people. I kin'd even put
- 11:46Speaker 2: an nail into a wall. So I like to think
- 11:49Speaker 2: that if I bought an RV, this would be me.
- 11:50Speaker 2: I go yep, let's go camping, kids, and I'd get lost.
- 11:53Speaker 2: I would know what I'm doing, but throughout the episode
- 11:56Speaker 2: I'd like to try and sort of threat being lost,
- 12:00Speaker 2: portray that I don't worry, I know what I'm doing.
- 12:02Speaker 2: But clearly is a Homer saying I've murdered us all
- 12:05Speaker 2: is somebody says I've murdered us all Yeah, that's it. Yeah,
- 12:10Speaker 2: that's right. I remember this episode more so. I think
- 12:14Speaker 2: it's one of the more cartoony episodes of the first season,
- 12:17Speaker 2: not visually, just from a story perspective, and I think
- 12:20Speaker 2: maybe that's why it felt like it was one of
- 12:22Speaker 2: the more merchandised episodes of the early era. I remember
- 12:26Speaker 2: you had Hungry Jack's figures. Yeah, there was a range
- 12:30Speaker 2: of cups you could get of the Call of the Simpsons.
- 12:33Speaker 2: It was almost like everyone remembered the one where they
- 12:35Speaker 2: went camping. It seemed to stand out because maybe because
- 12:38Speaker 2: it wasn't in Springfield one where they went camping. I
- 12:40Speaker 2: think it's a different visual, so they're a on their
- 12:42Speaker 2: camping gear. It's fun to look at that kind of
- 12:44Speaker 2: thing as well. So I think from a story perspective,
- 12:47Speaker 2: you brought up the fact that Homer gets confused as Bigfoot.
- 12:50Speaker 2: I remember when I reviewed it, I liked the fact
- 12:53Speaker 2: that he was confused as Bigfoot in the first place.
- 12:55Speaker 2: I thought it was a bit wacky that, Okay, we've
- 12:57Speaker 2: taken him to a lab and they still kind of
- 12:58Speaker 2: establish it this as a man. You know, it's like
- 13:01Speaker 2: these these profession these professional scientists going, I think it
- 13:03Speaker 2: is a man. It's like it's just a guy covered
- 13:05Speaker 2: in mud. It's a human being. We can just do
- 13:09Speaker 2: a DNA test. People. That is silly, But that is
- 13:13Speaker 2: just very Season one Simpsons. Like you said, it's a
- 13:15Speaker 2: show that hadn't quite figured out what it wanted to
- 13:17Speaker 2: be yet. Are we a wacky cartoon? Are we set
- 13:20Speaker 2: in reality? And this one really blurred the lines between
- 13:23Speaker 2: them both, but it did it in a way that
- 13:24Speaker 2: was still fun. Yeah.
- 13:25Speaker 1: The subversion with Marge and Lisa being quite competent taking
- 13:29Speaker 1: care of themselves in the woods.
- 13:30Speaker 2: As well, it's a good point too, particularly early nineties,
- 13:33Speaker 2: just you know, it's the woman and the daughter who
- 13:35Speaker 2: know what they're doing. You know, that's very dare I
- 13:37Speaker 2: say progressive? And that was that it came out in
- 13:39Speaker 2: nineteen ninety Yeah, and you.
- 13:41Speaker 1: Know, with the whole media storm. It's a very silly premise,
- 13:44Speaker 1: but I think it just does this commentary on media
- 13:48Speaker 1: spin as well. So yeah, it uses a very idea
- 13:51Speaker 1: to you know, make jokes about something that's very real
- 13:54Speaker 1: in our society.
- 13:54Speaker 2: That you still tracks today.
- 13:56Speaker 1: So yeah, there is a timeless quality to this episodisode
- 14:00Speaker 1: that even a lot of season one episodes don't date
- 14:04Speaker 1: as well, you know, on my not as good list
- 14:07Speaker 1: of the vacant well it's not really a vacation episode
- 14:10Speaker 1: but Grapes of Wrath where Bart goes to France.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Yeah, that's not one. I love returning to a good ending,
- 14:16Speaker 2: though I really liked the end.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Yeah, no, it's a fun end and an unexpected thing,
- 14:21Speaker 1: but yeah, the journey to get there are part's just
- 14:23Speaker 1: so miserable.
- 14:23Speaker 2: The whole it is so cruel. Yeah, well that's one
- 14:27Speaker 2: of the more iconic reviews we did back in the
- 14:29Speaker 2: early days when it first started, because we couldn't wake
- 14:32Speaker 2: out the frog aspect, like what we are they saying
- 14:34Speaker 2: frogs for? And then we had all these barrage people
- 14:37Speaker 2: saying because they're French, you fool, and I was like, oh, yeah,
- 14:42Speaker 2: you can't go back and edit that out now.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Oh now.
- 14:46Speaker 2: It's on the internet forever. Yes, it is. Indeed, yes,
- 14:48Speaker 2: back in twenty fifteen when that first came out. We're
- 14:50Speaker 2: closing them our tenth anniversary here four years ago. Well done.
- 14:55Speaker 2: Ten years and we've only missed I Reckon two or
- 14:57Speaker 2: three weeks. Every week for ten years, there's been an
- 15:00Speaker 2: episode getting out there. It's pretty cool, good stuff.
- 15:02Speaker 1: I've missed a whole lot more than that I want.
- 15:05Speaker 2: To talk about. I'm skipping down your list. I'm not
- 15:06Speaker 2: going to do this in particular order. But it's one
- 15:08Speaker 2: that I have always loved, and I think I love
- 15:11Speaker 2: it more of the older I get, because again, as
- 15:13Speaker 2: we said, I now washed the Simpsons through the eyes
- 15:15Speaker 2: of Homer as a poster bart. Yeah, but I love
- 15:17Speaker 2: this one as a kid, and I have memories of
- 15:19Speaker 2: it because it was one of the ones. You know,
- 15:21Speaker 2: one used to record The Simpsons off Channel ten here
- 15:22Speaker 2: in Australia we record off TV anyway. You're listening around
- 15:25Speaker 2: the world BBC in or this ITV whoever it wasn't
- 15:27Speaker 2: in the in the UK and Fox in the States.
- 15:30Speaker 2: You recorded your favorite episodes. You cut the ad zeh
- 15:32Speaker 2: bla blah blah and you had your tape that was
- 15:33Speaker 2: always your favorite one of those, So this one has
- 15:36Speaker 2: more of my favorite episodes than others, So you always
- 15:38Speaker 2: had to put that one on. And I remember there
- 15:40Speaker 2: was a tape that I had that had bart on
- 15:42Speaker 2: the Road right near the very beginning, and I just
- 15:45Speaker 2: always have fond memories I reckon. I watched this one
- 15:47Speaker 2: so many more times than others because I put the
- 15:49Speaker 2: Simpsons on before bed and just had the Simpsons casually
- 15:52Speaker 2: on in playing in my ears as I slept. Essentially
- 15:55Speaker 2: just had had the tape playing. And I remember because
- 15:58Speaker 2: bart in the Road was near the beginning of the tape,
- 16:00Speaker 2: it was always one that I would still be awake
- 16:02Speaker 2: when it was on. So bart On the Road was
- 16:03Speaker 2: always one of my favorite episodes as a kid. I
- 16:05Speaker 2: always thought it was a lot of fun. It's not
- 16:07Speaker 2: necessarily a vacation, but I guess it's a vacation. It's
- 16:10Speaker 2: more of just a road trip. It's a road trip,
- 16:13Speaker 2: isn't it. I guess you can cause a vacation, but
- 16:15Speaker 2: I think it's.
- 16:15Speaker 1: To be a couple of things because it's a spring
- 16:17Speaker 1: break episode and it's very core, and you know, you
- 16:20Speaker 1: get to see the two stories of the two kids,
- 16:23Speaker 1: how they get to spend their spring breaks, and it's
- 16:26Speaker 1: back to this. You know, Simpsons is a poorer family.
- 16:29Speaker 1: You know, this is what they could afford to do
- 16:32Speaker 1: with Lisa and yeah with but getting on the road
- 16:35Speaker 1: and the road trip. Yeah, very wacky and wouldn't that
- 16:37Speaker 1: be expensive? But they justified in story. They get Martin
- 16:41Speaker 1: Prince involved into their little gang there, and it's got
- 16:45Speaker 1: this other thing with the groups of kids where Nelson
- 16:48Speaker 1: is their friend in summer. And I've heard them talk
- 16:51Speaker 1: about this on commentaries. You know, fans will go, oh,
- 16:53Speaker 1: why is Nelson hanging out with Button Millhouse?
- 16:55Speaker 2: That makes no sense.
- 16:56Speaker 1: It's like, yeah, because in school time he has to
- 16:58Speaker 1: be the bully and present this front. But in summer
- 17:01Speaker 1: time everyone might be off doing their own thing, and
- 17:04Speaker 1: who's got no one else to hang out.
- 17:05Speaker 2: We've got no friends? Yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly because the
- 17:08Speaker 2: bullies are all older than Nelson, aren't they.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Yeah, they're assumingly in sixth or seventh grade or something,
- 17:14Speaker 1: but also might be in their thirties.
- 17:16Speaker 2: Like, yeah, that's true, Kelney. In the earlier seasons, though
- 17:20Speaker 2: it was the Three Bullies, Nelson wasn't part of the
- 17:22Speaker 2: group originally was he I think it's the tell tale
- 17:24Speaker 2: head where we meet the bullies for the first time. Yeah,
- 17:27Speaker 2: well we meet those three they damn to do things.
- 17:29Speaker 2: So they're the older kids who are the bullies, and
- 17:31Speaker 2: but trying to impress the older kids. Nelson was the
- 17:33Speaker 2: bully in his class. I guess they just merged that.
- 17:37Speaker 2: They just decided letter on the track E. They're all bullies.
- 17:39Speaker 2: They can orders hang out together. Yeah, that's it.
- 17:41Speaker 1: With Nelson hanging out with this group, that just makes
- 17:43Speaker 1: such a great dynamic forsome that, yeah, makes this road
- 17:47Speaker 1: trip all the more compelling. And then you know, with
- 17:50Speaker 1: Lisa trying to have a vacation at her dad's work
- 17:53Speaker 1: and Homer and her make their own fun by the end,
- 17:56Speaker 1: and I love that.
- 17:58Speaker 2: It's so good that story, isn't it. This is the
- 17:59Speaker 2: verse of Homer that you just don't get in the
- 18:01Speaker 2: teen episodes of the show, where it's just daddy daughter
- 18:05Speaker 2: time and he's just he feels so real. It's just
- 18:07Speaker 2: so what can we do? We can just wear these
- 18:09Speaker 2: suits and roll around the chairs like that's what that's real,
- 18:11Speaker 2: that's what you would do.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, And I'm sure you know you having kids
- 18:17Speaker 1: know this more than anyone. It's just having solo time
- 18:21Speaker 1: with each individual kid is so important to develop your
- 18:24Speaker 1: own rapport and own back and forth and interest and
- 18:27Speaker 1: things that you know are just for you, guys. And
- 18:30Speaker 1: seeing this develop with Homer and Lisa, who have had
- 18:33Speaker 1: such a strange relationship over the years, that's a good point,
- 18:37Speaker 1: and that it comes to a heartwarming point where Homer
- 18:39Speaker 1: has listened, he has learned things.
- 18:41Speaker 2: About her older My god, how good is that bit.
- 18:44Speaker 1: Yeah, Pat's a little head, and yeah, she confides in
- 18:47Speaker 1: him when she needs to help Bart and it just
- 18:50Speaker 1: makes up such this interesting dynamic. And then yeah, when
- 18:53Speaker 1: they're sitting around the table digesting at the end, it's
- 18:56Speaker 1: just it sells that moment so hard, especially with margin
- 18:59Speaker 1: on the wise of just looking on with that spiel.
- 19:02Speaker 2: Yeah, and but not realizing that home is aware as well. Yeah,
- 19:05Speaker 2: so good.
- 19:07Speaker 1: Yeah, it's real fastical stuff. I love when Simpsons do
- 19:10Speaker 1: that kind of Right.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Now, let's three out a newer one. I have no
- 19:13Speaker 2: idea what this episode is. You're gonna have to give
- 19:15Speaker 2: us a quick little brief. Don't do a full run
- 19:18Speaker 2: now because I haven't watched it yet. But just yeah.
- 19:20Speaker 2: I mean it's spoils fun. It's called I've never this
- 19:24Speaker 2: saw what was called whether it's the description of the episode,
- 19:26Speaker 2: A totally fun thing that Bart will never do again?
- 19:28Speaker 2: Is that the name of the episode? Yeah?
- 19:31Speaker 1: So I did actually revisit this one in prep for
- 19:34Speaker 1: this podcast because I put a couple of newer ones
- 19:37Speaker 1: here that I remember liking.
- 19:38Speaker 2: What season, where can we find this one?
- 19:41Speaker 1: I think this was season twenty three, maybe maybe twenty four.
- 19:46Speaker 2: Do it now?
- 19:48Speaker 1: Yeah, do again, the nineteenth episode of season twenty.
- 19:51Speaker 2: Three, twenty three.
- 19:53Speaker 1: So this is what gets answered, you know, because the
- 19:57Speaker 1: Simpsons have been all around the world at this stage.
- 19:59Speaker 1: By season twenty three, they've hit every continent. And this was,
- 20:02Speaker 1: I believe a response to the question when a Simpson's
- 20:05Speaker 1: going to go to Antarctica. They've been to every other
- 20:07Speaker 1: continent by now, when's Antarctica happening?
- 20:10Speaker 2: Didn't they go there for? They went to Alaska for
- 20:13Speaker 2: the movie. That's right, Yes, yes.
- 20:15Speaker 1: And so it takes a roundabout way of getting there.
- 20:18Speaker 1: So it's basically Butt's feeling really unsatisfied with live, feeling
- 20:23Speaker 1: like nothing's going anywhere, there's nothing to look forward to.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Ten Yeah, and also by this point he's won an oscar,
- 20:31Speaker 1: but we'll get to that. Ah, I think I'm spoiling
- 20:37Speaker 1: a season twenty two episode anyway.
- 20:39Speaker 2: Anyway, if you're a fan of everything we do here
- 20:41Speaker 2: at Fourth Finger Discamp, but you're kind of hearing these
- 20:43Speaker 2: pesky ads, then you'll absolutely love being a member of

- 20:55Speaker 2: add free every single week, as well as access to
- 20:57Speaker 2: an exclusive Facebook and Discord communities, and so much more.

- 21:08Speaker 1: So the Simpsons family find out about this cruise and
- 21:12Speaker 1: they go on a crew And have you ever been
- 21:14Speaker 1: on a cruise?
- 21:15Speaker 2: A cruise? No, I've been on a charter boat and
- 21:18Speaker 2: it was the most horrific experience of my life. I
- 21:22Speaker 2: always tell the story of we were going I believe
- 21:24Speaker 2: it was Tasmania. So we're going around to Wineglass Bay.
- 21:27Speaker 2: I think that's Tasmania, right, one Glass Bay. Anyway, I'm
- 21:29Speaker 2: not sure. It's called wine Glass Bay because they used
- 21:31Speaker 2: to murder whales there and the it's shaped like a
- 21:34Speaker 2: wine glass and it would fill up red with blood
- 21:36Speaker 2: and it's Wineglass Bay. Horrific story anyway, so they were yeah,
- 21:40Speaker 2: so we went, we're going near it's like a tourist location,
- 21:42Speaker 2: not because of that, but because it's a nice beach
- 21:44Speaker 2: and whatnot. And then still murdered whales there that was
- 21:47Speaker 2: a long time ago, or dolphins whatever it was. And
- 21:50Speaker 2: the boat it was so chopping in the water. And
- 21:52Speaker 2: I'm no good with motion. I get motion sickness. You know,
- 21:54Speaker 2: I can't I have to be facing forward on a train.
- 21:57Speaker 2: I can't even do that. I can't read things in
- 21:58Speaker 2: a car. I'm just I get motion sickness. And this
- 22:01Speaker 2: was the choppiest thing ever. Remember at one point he
- 22:04Speaker 2: goes all right, ladies and gentlemen, I think advice. We
- 22:06Speaker 2: sit down, and if we had seat belts, I tead
- 22:08Speaker 2: to put them on. I was like, oh shit, oh god.
- 22:11Speaker 2: And I remember looking at the front and the boat
- 22:14Speaker 2: went up for a bit, stayed there for a while
- 22:16Speaker 2: and came down and I was just down the back
- 22:21Speaker 2: with Nicholas's dad, Keith they gas. They were handing out
- 22:23Speaker 2: these paper bags and it would have been I know,
- 22:25Speaker 2: twenty of us in the back just vomiting straight for
- 22:27Speaker 2: like half an hour. So that's my experience of being
- 22:30Speaker 2: on a boat. So I've been told cruises are much
- 22:32Speaker 2: better than that. And my parents recently went on the
- 22:34Speaker 2: cruise and they loved it, and the kids want to
- 22:35Speaker 2: go on a cruise now. So we've been looking at
- 22:37Speaker 2: Disney cruises. I have not dared look at the prices
- 22:39Speaker 2: of a Disney cruise yet, but they do look fun. Yeah.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Well that was the one recent cruise I did. I
- 22:45Speaker 1: did the Disney cruise at the end of twenty twenty three.
- 22:48Speaker 1: It was so much fun. All the food was paid for,
- 22:51Speaker 1: so that was okay. But then drinks were extra, and
- 22:54Speaker 1: they knew they were we were Australians, so I think
- 22:56Speaker 1: they chucked up the price a bit, like.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Cause you're not buy it, because I think my parents
- 23:01Speaker 2: bought an extra thing where you get like ten free
- 23:03Speaker 2: drinks a day if you pay the extra bitter whatever.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Oh is that right? Mostly my brother organized that. Why
- 23:08Speaker 1: I wasn't sure. Anyway, you had a good time, you
- 23:10Speaker 1: got to hang out with Spider Man. Yeah, you got
- 23:11Speaker 1: to autograph. Yeah, it was wonderful. You know, they you know,
- 23:15Speaker 1: equal stuff for adults and kids to do as well.
- 23:18Speaker 1: I was always worried with doing a cruise, especially at
- 23:20Speaker 1: Disney Cruise. Is there any gonna be anything for me.
- 23:22Speaker 2: To do there?
- 23:23Speaker 1: But there was so much and like they're running trivia
- 23:26Speaker 1: all the time, and that was a whole lot of
- 23:29Speaker 1: fun and like yeah, games of late night parties and
- 23:31Speaker 1: stuff for adults, and heaps of bars and tequila and
- 23:35Speaker 1: cognac tastings and yeah, we really blackjack.
- 23:40Speaker 2: That's on the Bender boat. Yeah.
- 23:42Speaker 1: But yeah, So they go on this cruise and they're
- 23:45Speaker 1: having that much fun as well. But the cruise has
- 23:47Speaker 1: to come to an end, and so but decides to
- 23:51Speaker 1: make the holiday go even longer. So this might be
- 23:54Speaker 1: an episode that people are not still not ready to
- 23:56Speaker 1: watch as well, because part of the early parts of
- 23:59Speaker 1: the pandemic was cruise ships were super spreader events.
- 24:02Speaker 2: And all that moved on from that pandemic never happened.
- 24:06Speaker 2: We're in the post COVID world now. Apologies to everybody
- 24:08Speaker 2: who was genuinely affected by the pandemic. That was a joke.
- 24:11Speaker 2: I am well aware the pandemic happened, and I'm aware
- 24:14Speaker 2: it's horrific, and I'm glad that we have somehow able
- 24:16Speaker 2: to move forward slightly.
- 24:17Speaker 1: Yeah, that was a rough couple of years there though,
- 24:20Speaker 1: But yeah, so I understand why this episode people might
- 24:22Speaker 1: not be ready for it, because, yeah, the premise then
- 24:25Speaker 1: is Bar gets this DVD of a B grade movie
- 24:28Speaker 1: that whether the pandemic breaks out, and he feeds it
- 24:32Speaker 1: into the main monitor speaker system of the cruise ship.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Yeah it's this actor, but he's selling it as this
- 24:39Speaker 1: army general is warning the cruise ship did not come
- 24:41Speaker 1: to land because a pandemic is broken up.
- 24:43Speaker 2: It's War of the worlds. Yeah, oh yeah, there we go.
- 24:46Speaker 2: That wasn't a boat that was just awesome. Wells on
- 24:48Speaker 2: the radio saying there's aliens coming. Yeah, that's it.
- 24:52Speaker 1: And yeah, then Bart pause chocolate fudge or something on
- 24:54Speaker 1: the control deck to then jam the systems as well,
- 24:57Speaker 1: so they can't communicate back with land. So yeah, then
- 25:00Speaker 1: the cruise keeps going long, but you know, they're running
- 25:03Speaker 1: out of food, the boat's getting gross, and you know,
- 25:07Speaker 1: the pool's disgusting now, but still having the time of
- 25:09Speaker 1: his life.
- 25:09Speaker 2: No one else is.
- 25:11Speaker 1: But they eventually find out it was Bart's fault, and
- 25:13Speaker 1: then they kick the family out at the nearest country,
- 25:15Speaker 1: which it turns out to be Antarctica.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Oh so that's just the setup premise. Yeah.
- 25:20Speaker 1: Yeah, The Simpsons go to Antarctica comprises of about a
- 25:22Speaker 1: minute of the last part of the episode.
- 25:25Speaker 2: Oh so that I actually go to Antartica to the
- 25:27Speaker 2: very end, Yeah, ah, okay, but it's just so they
- 25:29Speaker 2: can get out of the way saying we have been
- 25:30Speaker 2: to Antartica.
- 25:31Speaker 1: Yeah, but I think that's part of the response of
- 25:33Speaker 1: this is why they haven't done a Simpsons go to
- 25:35Speaker 1: Antarctic because there's not much there.
- 25:37Speaker 2: Didn't every one say the Simpsons are going to Antartica
- 25:40Speaker 2: next year? Is Antartigo or he says that maybe Delaware
- 25:44Speaker 2: or what.
- 25:44Speaker 1: I feel like they've done that joke as well, and
- 25:46Speaker 1: I still feel like Delaware is the funniest possible geography
- 25:49Speaker 1: place name you could possibly pick.
- 25:51Speaker 2: For this is where comes into to play.
- 25:53Speaker 1: I know, I was just talking with a friend the
- 25:56Speaker 1: other day, how annoying it is. We don't have Frinkiak
- 25:58Speaker 1: for more shows.
- 26:00Speaker 2: By the way, he's blaming on Lisa. Season thirteen been
- 26:03Speaker 2: everywhere except Antarctica. The Simpsons are going to Antarctica next
- 26:06Speaker 2: year was actually ten years later.
- 26:09Speaker 1: Oh blame it on the Lisa. Okay, that one would
- 26:11Speaker 1: have made it onto my not so great list.
- 26:14Speaker 2: That's the Brazil one, right. Yeah, I've never really minded that,
- 26:17Speaker 2: but you know what that is. I think it's just
- 26:19Speaker 2: a nostalgia things I remember watching when it was on,
- 26:22Speaker 2: and I was still a fan that Simpsons at that
- 26:23Speaker 2: point in time. But I going back and revisiting it,
- 26:27Speaker 2: it's a bit wacky, but I remember not minding Homer
- 26:31Speaker 2: with the people holding him hostage.
- 26:33Speaker 1: Yeah, the Stockholm syndrome of it is very very funny,
- 26:37Speaker 1: and in fact that book and saves the cigarette that
- 26:40Speaker 1: he got burned with.
- 26:41Speaker 2: That's all very endearing and stuff. And it's just the
- 26:44Speaker 2: little boy and there's the woman with the tassels and whatnot. Yeah. Yeah, anyway,
- 26:48Speaker 2: so that the episode sounds good. So that episode from
- 26:50Speaker 2: season twenty three, episode nineteen, it is a totally fun
- 26:53Speaker 2: thing that but will never do again. I'm going to
- 26:55Speaker 2: check it out when we get to it. Let's go
- 26:59Speaker 2: to a more classic one. I was gonna put this
- 27:01Speaker 2: on my list as well. I wasn't sure, but this
- 27:04Speaker 2: was a vacation one or not. I guess it is
- 27:05Speaker 2: because they said we're going there. It's the city of
- 27:07Speaker 2: New York versus Homer Simpson. Yeah. This is one of
- 27:10Speaker 2: those ones that I think everyone thinks came a lot
- 27:13Speaker 2: earlier in the show's run than what it actually did.
- 27:15Speaker 2: It was the premiere of season nine, and people always
- 27:19Speaker 2: season one to nine is the best one. But I
- 27:21Speaker 2: just feel like this episode here just feels mid gold
- 27:23Speaker 2: near it. It just feels like a season seven ish kind
- 27:25Speaker 2: of episode, don't you think. But just the overall story
- 27:28Speaker 2: is just I still to this day quote Homer going
- 27:31Speaker 2: almost I love that visual. Obviously, it's the episode that
- 27:36Speaker 2: still has the World Trade Centers in it. So I
- 27:38Speaker 2: don't know whether they actually replay this episode anymore, and
- 27:41Speaker 2: if there was a while where they weren't airing this
- 27:42Speaker 2: one and reruns. Reruns still a thing Australia for the
- 27:47Speaker 2: Simpsons anyway, they're only on Disney. Plus, it's got that
- 27:49Speaker 2: innocence to it where the World Trade Centers are still there.
- 27:51Speaker 2: It's kind of like when I watch Home Alone Too
- 27:52Speaker 2: and he goes to the top of the World Trade
- 27:54Speaker 2: Center and I go, oh, yeah, we can't forget that
- 27:56Speaker 2: they existed. I prefer to still include this stuff, and
- 27:59Speaker 2: it's thought that they should be rerunning these episodes with
- 28:01Speaker 2: the World Trade Centers. Don't try and edit them out,
- 28:03Speaker 2: because that's doing a disservice to the people who worked there,
- 28:06Speaker 2: the people who passed away in the tragic events. Remind
- 28:09Speaker 2: people these things were here. They're not here anymore, but
- 28:10Speaker 2: they were part of our history. So I always have
- 28:14Speaker 2: that little ah whenever I see home at the World
- 28:16Speaker 2: Trade Centers as well.
- 28:18Speaker 1: Yeah, the whole cigarettes in movies thing where we want
- 28:22Speaker 1: to move past it and having them so prominent, but
- 28:25Speaker 1: also we don't want to go back and erase it
- 28:27Speaker 1: from the old movies because there's some like iconic moments
- 28:30Speaker 1: and you know, certainly with New York as well, it's
- 28:33Speaker 1: part of the never forget, you know, keep it in
- 28:35Speaker 1: the skyline and it doesn't it lead to some unfortunate
- 28:38Speaker 1: things like Yeah, in this episode, when Bart's holding up
- 28:41Speaker 1: the bust voucher thing and it says nine dollars and
- 28:44Speaker 1: it has the World Trade Center right next to it,
- 28:45Speaker 1: and a.
- 28:46Speaker 2: Lot of the odds.
- 28:48Speaker 1: What are the well, I mean, they predict everything. So
- 28:51Speaker 1: they had their crystal ball out when they were reviewing
- 28:53Speaker 1: of writing that one.
- 28:54Speaker 2: That's on of those ones where you look at it
- 28:55Speaker 2: and go a shit.
- 28:57Speaker 1: Yeah, but you know, also on the Starring Springfield, we
- 29:02Speaker 1: reviewed the nineteen ninety three Super Mario Brothers.
- 29:04Speaker 2: Movie which Luigi Luigi.
- 29:07Speaker 1: Yeah, which this one stretches our definition of starring on
- 29:11Speaker 1: Starring Springfield because Dan Castell get Dan Castellnetta does the
- 29:16Speaker 1: opening narration of that movie and that's it. That's how
- 29:18Speaker 1: Simpson's guy for that movie.
- 29:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 29:21Speaker 1: But in the climax of that movie, part of it
- 29:24Speaker 1: is King Cooper destroying or phasing out the World Trade
- 29:28Speaker 1: Center to another dimension or something like that. Yeah, part
- 29:33Speaker 1: of these things that change in hindsight.
- 29:36Speaker 2: Now I have the Super Mario three Deluxe box set
- 29:38Speaker 2: from our friends at four fig discount from um brother Entertainment.
- 29:41Speaker 2: They really just kick ass, like brick of a box
- 29:43Speaker 2: set for the Super Mario's ninety three film Awesome.
- 29:46Speaker 1: Yeah, that was a fun review. That is such a
- 29:50Speaker 1: wild and weird movie and like no wonder Nintendo got
- 29:53Speaker 1: turned off from working with movie studios for many years after.
- 29:57Speaker 2: Let's go to Itchy and Scratchy Land cat' mouse right,
- 30:00Speaker 2: So this is always in the list of most iconic
- 30:04Speaker 2: Simpsons episodes of all time. It's just there are so
- 30:07Speaker 2: many jokes in this episode. It's hard to sort of
- 30:09Speaker 2: keep up, isn't it. It feels like it almost feels like
- 30:11Speaker 2: a Conan O'Brien episode, don't you think, Yeah.
- 30:14Speaker 1: This is a John swartzworld.
- 30:15Speaker 2: It definitely feels like a Swartzwater O'Brien. Yeah.
- 30:19Speaker 1: Yeah, again, just talking about subverting the tropes. And the
- 30:24Speaker 1: family goes to a vacation theme park or whatever. And
- 30:28Speaker 1: I feel like, especially when you look at like Sitcom's
- 30:32Speaker 1: like Modern Family, for instance, when they go to Disneyland.
- 30:35Speaker 1: I love the show, but that one is just so
- 30:38Speaker 1: obviously a paid tie in sponsorship where they can't have
- 30:42Speaker 1: fun at the theme park's expense. And you know, because
- 30:45Speaker 1: this one, you know, they're not trying to please anyone.
- 30:47Speaker 1: There's no real Lichy and Scratchy Land, and they can
- 30:50Speaker 1: have all these jokes which comment on the theme park
- 30:53Speaker 1: experience and and yeah, have this subversive thing of the
- 30:57Speaker 1: Sitcom family not having a great time and it turns
- 31:00Speaker 1: into a bloody West World reference.
- 31:03Speaker 2: Yes, it's oh good, But there's there's so many iconic
- 31:08Speaker 2: quotes from this one. So yeah, the one that I
- 31:11Speaker 2: still again another quote that I used every time I
- 31:14Speaker 2: park my car. Remember we're in the ITCHI lot. Do
- 31:17Speaker 2: you say it as well? I say nearly every time. Yeah,
- 31:21Speaker 2: I remember I put this episode on for the kids,
- 31:23Speaker 2: and I kind of regret it because it's very very
- 31:25Speaker 2: violent towards the end with the blood and whatnot. But
- 31:28Speaker 2: I always said when the women leave the car, and
- 31:29Speaker 2: when the kids watched that went, ah, that's what you say.
- 31:32Speaker 2: I was like, yeah, but remember it, like we've got
- 31:36Speaker 2: that possible yep, possibly go wrong? And what was the
- 31:40Speaker 2: dry call?
- 31:40Speaker 1: Wit like that I could be an action hero, Yes,
- 31:43Speaker 1: and I hope was saying that the end bar just
- 31:45Speaker 1: cuts him off.
- 31:46Speaker 2: Yes. Bought the bought license.
- 31:48Speaker 1: Plate and still something to this day, like, I'm sure
- 31:52Speaker 1: you've been to one of the Simpsons World theme parks.
- 31:55Speaker 2: I was about to say, yeah, yeah, so.
- 31:56Speaker 1: I don't know if it was the same for you,
- 31:58Speaker 1: But they don't have the boat license plate.
- 31:59Speaker 2: It's kind of weird.
- 32:00Speaker 1: They have your name on things, but it's Quickie mark
- 32:02Speaker 1: name tags. And the bought one was it was empty,
- 32:07Speaker 1: it was gone. And we went up and asked do
- 32:09Speaker 1: you have any of those bought ones? And they like,
- 32:11Speaker 1: actually have a big giant bag full of them. It's
- 32:13Speaker 1: just as a joke in the park, they keep them empty. Yeah,
- 32:17Speaker 1: which I think is great, excellent because you have to
- 32:22Speaker 1: genuinely ask for a bought one if you want one,
- 32:24Speaker 1: it's just.
- 32:24Speaker 2: Just because you look at it. So many people would
- 32:26Speaker 2: be too scared to ask, thinking, oh, I'm gonna be
- 32:28Speaker 2: that person. They're gonna make fun of me. They think think, oh, yeah,
- 32:30Speaker 2: i've knowd that one before. No, they want you to
- 32:32Speaker 2: say it yeah and yeah.
- 32:34Speaker 1: For so many people, like they've got to be pissed
- 32:36Speaker 1: finding that out after because they're like, oh, yeah, of
- 32:37Speaker 1: course that one sold out fair enough, because I've got one.
- 32:41Speaker 1: It's part of the gag. It's oh good.
- 32:43Speaker 2: The problem is I got a it wasn't a license plate.
- 32:45Speaker 2: It was a key chain. Oh yeah, and it was
- 32:48Speaker 2: It's like Barton Krustock riding the ride, the Simpsons ride.
- 32:51Speaker 2: So I've got a bought key chain and a bought
- 32:53Speaker 2: license plate. So I'm kind of disappointed about that. I
- 32:55Speaker 2: did hear that they're going to be removing the Simpsons World.
- 32:59Speaker 1: Interesting, Well, well, it's a Disney property now.
- 33:01Speaker 2: So yeah, maybe the light the contract's finished, I'm not
- 33:04Speaker 2: too sure. But because Universal has just expanded huge, open
- 33:07Speaker 2: up a whole new park in Florida. It opens up
- 33:10Speaker 2: this year. Actually yeah, it's University. Got a Universal Monsters
- 33:14Speaker 2: area now is how training drag a? Nintendo World's opening up,
- 33:17Speaker 2: So yeah, it's going to be just expanding. I guess
- 33:19Speaker 2: the Simpsons ride's making way, which is sad because there
- 33:21Speaker 2: needs to be a springfield somewhere. But I guess I
- 33:23Speaker 2: need to just put it at Disneyland.
- 33:24Speaker 1: Now, Yeah, you'd hope, so maybe controversial opinion. I don't
- 33:28Speaker 1: like the Simpsons ride.
- 33:30Speaker 2: I thought it was, I.
- 33:32Speaker 1: Don't know, just one of these three D ride experiences
- 33:35Speaker 1: that's always the same thing. Oh we're on the ride up,
- 33:38Speaker 1: things are going wrong and then it's just a bombardment
- 33:42Speaker 1: of Simpson's references and I'm just in this thing that's
- 33:45Speaker 1: shaking and I'm like, I want to get up.
- 33:48Speaker 2: Well, we went through a phase about ten to fifteen
- 33:50Speaker 2: years ago where everything is like, oh my god, it's
- 33:52Speaker 2: like a virtual reality ride. I hate them, As I said,
- 33:55Speaker 2: I get motion sick, so I despise those rides right,
- 33:58Speaker 2: And I remember when I went on there, the girl
- 34:01Speaker 2: at the line said, does anyone get motion sickness, and
- 34:03Speaker 2: I said, yes, she goes, make sure you sit up
- 34:05Speaker 2: the front. I was like, okay, So I did. And
- 34:07Speaker 2: I really enjoyed the ride, you know, because it's one
- 34:09Speaker 2: of those ones where it's like you in like a
- 34:11Speaker 2: sphere almost, and it's sort of all the way around,
- 34:13Speaker 2: like a full one a eighty kind of yeah, and
- 34:15Speaker 2: just felt very immersive. The next time I went on it,
- 34:18Speaker 2: I got put at the back and I was like, oh,
- 34:19Speaker 2: I'll be fine now. The reason they say that because
- 34:21Speaker 2: when you're on the back row, the way the ride
- 34:24Speaker 2: is built, it's like a roller coaster ride. To get
- 34:27Speaker 2: the walls on the side, you can't see the whole thing.
- 34:29Speaker 2: You can't see the sides, so when things are suddenly
- 34:31Speaker 2: banging into you and you can't see it coming you,
- 34:34Speaker 2: all of a sudden, you just jerking into the left
- 34:35Speaker 2: and jerking to the right. And I felt so sick
- 34:38Speaker 2: after going on the Simpsons ride the second time. It
- 34:40Speaker 2: looks such a bad taste in my mouth. But you're right, though,
- 34:42Speaker 2: we needed like a Simpsons roller coaster or something like that,
- 34:45Speaker 2: you know what I mean, not just a virtual reality
- 34:47Speaker 2: or I get itcau. It's an animated cartoon. You kind
- 34:49Speaker 2: of have to do that. I get why they did it,
- 34:51Speaker 2: particularly when they did it as well. There's so many
- 34:53Speaker 2: of those rides coming out, but I think we need
- 34:55Speaker 2: to sort of just get back to Can we not
- 34:56Speaker 2: just get on a ride and be taken for a
- 34:59Speaker 2: few thrills and just get off the ride. We don't
- 35:01Speaker 2: have to sort of sit in this watch this screen.
- 35:03Speaker 2: I want to get away. Look, we spend so much
- 35:05Speaker 2: of our lives in front of a screen. I want
- 35:06Speaker 2: to go to a thing butuck and get away from
- 35:08Speaker 2: the screens. Yeah.
- 35:09Speaker 1: Well, I think Simpson's World. I think the Simpson's Ride
- 35:12Speaker 1: for me was at least the least interesting part. It's
- 35:15Speaker 1: just it was so cool, like how they built out
- 35:17Speaker 1: Springfield and all the different restaurants with all the catered
- 35:21Speaker 1: food to the characters and all that.
- 35:24Speaker 2: But did you go to Hollywood or did you go
- 35:25Speaker 2: to Orlando? I've been to both.
- 35:28Speaker 1: I've definitely been to Florida. I might have been to California,
- 35:31Speaker 1: I can't remember.
- 35:32Speaker 2: Florida doesn't have the strip like Hollywood does. Hollywood has
- 35:36Speaker 2: like you're walking down the Aztec Theater. It's got everything.
- 35:38Speaker 2: It's it's like you're walking down the streets of Springfield
- 35:41Speaker 2: where Flora doesn't have that. It's just got various sort
- 35:43Speaker 2: of it's got the Quickie Mart, and it's got most tavern.
- 35:45Speaker 2: But in Hollywood, it actually feels like you're walking through
- 35:49Speaker 2: a street of Springfield. Yeah.
- 35:51Speaker 1: I can't quite remember, because yeah, those holidays pretty close together,
- 35:56Speaker 1: and they kind of elements of Florida and California kind
- 35:59Speaker 1: of blur in my memory now. But yeah, still a
- 36:01Speaker 1: hot vacation spot. It seems like a timed experience now,
- 36:05Speaker 1: so if you can get to it, yeah, definitely get
- 36:07Speaker 1: to a Simpson's World or yeah.
- 36:10Speaker 2: Yeah, but Itching scratchy Land great, just because, as you said,
- 36:12Speaker 2: they were able to take the Mickey out of It's
- 36:14Speaker 2: taken me out of Disneyland. You know. That's that's what
- 36:16Speaker 2: they're targetting here, because they even have euro Itching scratchy Land,
- 36:20Speaker 2: which is Disneyland Paris, which is We got there and
- 36:23Speaker 2: I was like, that was my first experience of going
- 36:24Speaker 2: to a Disneyland. I got there, I went this is Disneyland.
- 36:27Speaker 2: Yeah what is this now?
- 36:31Speaker 1: Even I recently went to Japan and I had a
- 36:34Speaker 1: similar experience. It's like, oh, these are the elements they
- 36:36Speaker 1: choose to focus on because they have the rights to
- 36:39Speaker 1: it all, but it's not governed by Disney or anything.
- 36:41Speaker 1: They're allowed to just do their own thing with it.
- 36:44Speaker 1: And so there's things like they still have Splash Mountain,
- 36:47Speaker 1: and they still have Jungle Cruise with that bit in it.
- 36:50Speaker 2: Don't They have the Jaws right as well, still.
- 36:53Speaker 1: That universal they have a whole Amityville section that's on.
- 36:57Speaker 2: A go there, because that's one of my I hate
- 37:00Speaker 2: the fact that that Jaws was gone by the time
- 37:02Speaker 2: I got to Florida. The voicing. Ah, I mean, it
- 37:04Speaker 2: looks it looks like a basic ride, but it's just
- 37:06Speaker 2: fucking cool man, it's the Jaws ride. Yeah.
- 37:09Speaker 1: Oh the Jaws ride at Japan was so fun because yeah,
- 37:12Speaker 1: usually in those because basically the ride is you're on
- 37:15Speaker 1: a boat that goes it does a little circuit, but
- 37:19Speaker 1: things go wrong and you know your tour guide is
- 37:21Speaker 1: having to fight off a shark. But when you're going
- 37:24Speaker 1: through one of these in an English speaking park, a
- 37:27Speaker 1: lot of this stuff is telegraphed. Because our tour guide
- 37:29Speaker 1: was speaking Japanese. For me and my girlfriend, there was
- 37:32Speaker 1: like a genuine sense of fear. We didn't know what
- 37:36Speaker 1: was happening, and when the sharks would come out of
- 37:40Speaker 1: the water, genuine.
- 37:41Speaker 2: Scares from us. That's amazing.
- 37:44Speaker 1: Yeah, so much fun, and yeah, just bring it back
- 37:47Speaker 1: to Witchy and Scratchy Land as well. Yeah, we are
- 37:49Speaker 1: way more fun in the line for the Simpsons ride
- 37:51Speaker 1: because yeah, that were showing clips from Michie and Scratchy Land.
- 37:54Speaker 1: We were like, do they want to be setting up
- 37:56Speaker 1: this expectation while we're in their park? You know, chic
- 38:00Speaker 1: it's pretty horribly wrong in Itch and Scratchy Land. But no,
- 38:03Speaker 1: that was great. They had clips from the show when
- 38:04Speaker 1: they're vacation episodes playing while you're in the line, and
- 38:07Speaker 1: they have specifically made content for the Simpsons world, which
- 38:11Speaker 1: is pretty funny as well. Yeah, we had a great time.
- 38:13Speaker 2: Yes, now an episode that this is from about season twelve,
- 38:17Speaker 2: I want to say, maybe a little bit later you've
- 38:19Speaker 2: got on the list. Here is how I spent my
- 38:20Speaker 2: Stromer vacation. I'm glad you threw this one out there
- 38:22Speaker 2: because I was going to include it as well. I've
- 38:24Speaker 2: always loved this. I particularly think this is one where
- 38:27Speaker 2: I feel like they just did an amazing job of
- 38:29Speaker 2: incorporating guest stars playing themselves because sometimes I say in
- 38:34Speaker 2: the podcast that I prefer it when a guest star
- 38:37Speaker 2: plays somebody who's not themselves, because how often do you find,
- 38:40Speaker 2: now you've reviewed these episodes season nineteen or it's just
- 38:43Speaker 2: a teen year, they go, hey, it's Britney Spears. Hey,
- 38:46Speaker 2: we're telling you who it is, as it to say, hey,
- 38:49Speaker 2: look who we have this week. When in the early
- 38:51Speaker 2: episode doing in Springfield, yeah where a lot of the
- 38:53Speaker 2: early episodes they would have a guest star and they'd
- 38:55Speaker 2: play a character like Meryl Street plays Jessica love Joy.
- 39:02Speaker 2: You have Dustin Hoffman playing mister name, mister mister Bergstrom,
- 39:06Speaker 2: that's from mister Bergstrom. So and he didn't even have
- 39:08Speaker 2: uses your name in the credits. What was it, samitic
- 39:10Speaker 2: I think he used that, Yeah, But so I like
- 39:13Speaker 2: it when they use the guest sometimes it works, but
- 39:15Speaker 2: I prefer when I use the guest stars as a character.
- 39:17Speaker 2: This one here though, when you've got the Rolling Stones
- 39:20Speaker 2: and Lenny Kravitz and Tom Penny whatnot, you don't have
- 39:22Speaker 2: them play somebody else. They're the Rolling Stones, you know
- 39:25Speaker 2: what I mean? You have to And I thought having
- 39:27Speaker 2: them at a rock camp sometimes they can feel shoehorned
- 39:30Speaker 2: in the guest appearance, but this one felt like it
- 39:32Speaker 2: just worked for me, just seeing all the men of
- 39:35Speaker 2: Springfield getting to just really their youth again and feel
- 39:38Speaker 2: like rock stars. Even it's just a camp, but I
- 39:40Speaker 2: just really really enjoyed it. And just Jagger's dynamic with
- 39:43Speaker 2: Dan as Homer, I thought was really funny throughout.
- 39:46Speaker 1: Yeah, just Jagger and Keith Richards as the camp leaders, Yeah,
- 39:49Speaker 1: so wonderful. Like the other four are kind of a
- 39:52Speaker 1: bit more superfluous and kindly get to or three lines
- 39:55Speaker 1: for the whole episode, but there's such welcome additions to
- 39:58Speaker 1: the whole thing. And Yeah, really builds out this world,
- 40:01Speaker 1: which is kind of a thing. I don't know if
- 40:04Speaker 1: you know the musician Kip Winger, but he was an
- 40:07Speaker 1: eighties rock and roll star of the band Winger, and
- 40:11Speaker 1: he runs these sort of camps or day events and
- 40:13Speaker 1: things like that. Yeah, good midlife blokes a taste of
- 40:19Speaker 1: what it's like living the rock star life.
- 40:21Speaker 2: It's like a comic con for men who don't like
- 40:23Speaker 2: nerd shit. It's for men who liked eighties haird metal.
- 40:25Speaker 2: It's like this is their version of a comic con.
- 40:27Speaker 1: Yeah, and honestly for me as a big rock and
- 40:30Speaker 1: roll fan. You know, I'm a bass player, and yeah,
- 40:32Speaker 1: this is my type of music. Sort of seeing this
- 40:35Speaker 1: as I'm like a teenager and getting into these sort
- 40:38Speaker 1: of bands.
- 40:38Speaker 2: This was just so cool.
- 40:40Speaker 1: This is my world's colliding, and I'm having a lot
- 40:42Speaker 1: of fun with it. Yeah, I know, going back to it,
- 40:44Speaker 1: and it's such a goofy episode, but it is so
- 40:47Speaker 1: persistently fun throughout it is. Yeah, it even defies expectations where, yeah,
- 40:53Speaker 1: it starts out with Homer again very off the time,
- 40:55Speaker 1: being on a taxi cab confessional show and instead of
- 40:59Speaker 1: it into where the family hates Homer and resents him story,
- 41:02Speaker 1: it's like, yeah, you need a break.
- 41:04Speaker 2: Guy, because you know what, because he didn't know he
- 41:07Speaker 2: was being filmed then, and I think that would have
- 41:09Speaker 2: made them come across really poorly if they judged him
- 41:13Speaker 2: for being open in a moment where he didn't realize
- 41:16Speaker 2: you he was being seen.
- 41:18Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just one of these moments where that first
- 41:21Speaker 1: act fuck you, the you know, absolute left turn on
- 41:23Speaker 1: the story really works because it gives the episode such
- 41:28Speaker 1: momentum and drive to from scene to scene to scene.
- 41:32Speaker 1: And yeah, even though the final rock concert. Thing gets
- 41:35Speaker 1: very wacky with the band chasing around Homer on a
- 41:38Speaker 1: fire shooting devil Head.
- 41:40Speaker 2: You have earned that moment. By the end, you have
- 41:42Speaker 2: exactly right. And I'm glad you brought that about the
- 41:45Speaker 2: intro as well, because and what you think about the more,
- 41:46Speaker 2: I really actually appreciate it, because it's okay to be
- 41:50Speaker 2: unhappy with things. It doesn't mean you dislike your life.
- 41:52Speaker 2: It doesn't mean you dislike your family. But you know,
- 41:55Speaker 2: everyone has grievances. Everyone has sometimes they just need to
- 41:57Speaker 2: vent things, get things off their chest. Homer got that moment,
- 42:00Speaker 2: and as he said, I'm really glad that they didn't
- 42:02Speaker 2: hold him accountable for having emotions and having feelings about things.
- 42:05Speaker 2: He's allowed to feel things, you know.
- 42:07Speaker 1: Yeah, fully, And I'm just realizing, you know, you can
- 42:10Speaker 1: build a playlist out of this as well. Homer not
- 42:12Speaker 1: wanting this vacation to end, but not wanting the other
- 42:15Speaker 1: vacation to end.
- 42:16Speaker 2: It's almost like they have a template. Yeah, if you're
- 42:21Speaker 2: a fan of everything we do here at four Finger Discount,
- 42:23Speaker 2: but you're kind of hearing these pesky ads, then you'll

- 42:49Speaker 1: But yeah, such good fun and you know iconic lines
- 42:52Speaker 1: from everybody got to fix the window sills, Winter's Coming.
- 42:56Speaker 1: And I don't know if you've seen the extras as
- 42:58Speaker 1: well with the interviews of the rock stars, it's just
- 43:02Speaker 1: this really funny moment where they're interviewing Jagger and they're
- 43:04Speaker 1: like asking him, oh, so did you always want to
- 43:06Speaker 1: be on The Simpsons And he goes, Oh, not really,
- 43:09Speaker 1: It's just it got offered to me and my kids
- 43:11Speaker 1: said I had to do it, so I did it.
- 43:13Speaker 2: Yeah. I always liked the scene, and I wish they
- 43:16Speaker 2: did more of this because one of those ones that's
- 43:18Speaker 2: memorable for me because you see them doing the acting
- 43:20Speaker 2: in the studio and the credits, right, They needed to
- 43:23Speaker 2: do that more often. Yeah, show us or at least
- 43:27Speaker 2: make that footage available because they must have. They must
- 43:30Speaker 2: have filmed all the guest stars being on the show.
- 43:32Speaker 2: I mean, why would they not, and even just the
- 43:35Speaker 2: cast recording the show. To me, even to this day,
- 43:37Speaker 2: it's twenty twenty five, The Simpsons arguably the most iconic
- 43:40Speaker 2: TV show of all time. There's no good, real deep
- 43:44Speaker 2: dive documentary about the show, and it astounds me. I
- 43:48Speaker 2: feel like they could do a Netflix no ten part
- 43:51Speaker 2: series on this show, or Disney Plus ten part series
- 43:54Speaker 2: on the show, really showing home video footage showing how
- 43:58Speaker 2: the show came to be, really show the nitty and goody.
- 44:01Speaker 2: It's almost like The Simpsons because people aren't as well
- 44:06Speaker 2: as well received as it used to be the show. Obviously,
- 44:08Speaker 2: people are always saying, oh, it's no good blah blah blah.
- 44:10Speaker 2: It's almost like they forgot that people. How much people
- 44:13Speaker 2: cared in the nineties about this show. How Disney plus
- 44:16Speaker 2: I've not put together something yet is beyond me. I'm
- 44:18Speaker 2: sure they will at some point. But have you always
- 44:21Speaker 2: wanted to see the cast acting the show? Because sometimes
- 44:23Speaker 2: you see little clips here and there on news snippets
- 44:27Speaker 2: or whatever, like a five minute little doco. Things that
- 44:30Speaker 2: you put on in between episodes and whatnot, and you
- 44:32Speaker 2: see Harry Sheer acting out as Smithers and Burns and whatnot,
- 44:34Speaker 2: and you think, I want to see this. I want
- 44:36Speaker 2: to see more of this. Why hasn't isn't it been released?
- 44:39Speaker 2: Because it must be out there. I know they always
- 44:40Speaker 2: bring up that there's two hours of audio of edited
- 44:43Speaker 2: at audio of our books as Hank Scorpio at least
- 44:46Speaker 2: that shit, Why is that not out? Why is that
- 44:48Speaker 2: not available? To me? It astounds me.
- 44:50Speaker 1: Yeah, because there's I mean there's a lot on the
- 44:52Speaker 1: DVD's fortunately, and you know over at our Patreon we're
- 44:55Speaker 1: reviewing the DVD extras and there's so much cool stuff
- 44:59Speaker 1: that even they could have expanded more on them. I
- 45:01Speaker 1: think it is in in Season thirteen box set as well.
- 45:04Speaker 1: They have this feature on our clawson who's scoring the
- 45:07Speaker 1: music and stuff like that, And that was this ten
- 45:09Speaker 1: minute thing that we're like, this could be an hour.
- 45:11Speaker 1: That was so fascinating, and yeah, Disney, I'll want to
- 45:15Speaker 1: do a documentary or two on the properties that they own,
- 45:18Speaker 1: like the Marvel and Star Wars movies have lots of
- 45:22Speaker 1: making obvious on that. So it was actually very helpful
- 45:24Speaker 1: recently because we reviewed Star Wars episode for a new
- 45:28Speaker 1: hope because it has Harry Shearer in it. I don't
- 45:31Speaker 1: know if you knew that. No, he is not even credited.
- 45:35Speaker 1: It's additional voices. He is actually the guard standing opposite
- 45:40Speaker 1: Darth Vader when Darth Vader says a sense of presence,
- 45:43Speaker 1: a presence I've not felt since. Yeah, he's talking to
- 45:47Speaker 1: a guard that's been a adr voice replaced by Harry Shearer.
- 45:51Speaker 2: Woll See. We had on Jim Show a guy called
- 45:53Speaker 2: Terry McGovern who voiced launch Pad and mcquack. I think
- 45:56Speaker 2: his name is. Who is the awesome partner of Duckwin
- 45:59Speaker 2: duck right, and he was He's also the guy missusdoubt fire.
- 46:04Speaker 2: I'm assuming you know missus doubt fire. Right. Here's the
- 46:07Speaker 2: guy at the start who fires Robin. Oh, yes, he's
- 46:11Speaker 2: that guy there, right, But he just suddenly just like
- 46:15Speaker 2: dropped in the podcast like it was no big deal.
- 46:16Speaker 2: And I think he actually thought it was a big deal.
- 46:18Speaker 2: Just sort of I've moved on. He's the guy that
- 46:19Speaker 2: says we don't need to see your identification. He's that
- 46:23Speaker 2: stormtrooper and I'm like, what what? And he's like, yeah, yeah,
- 46:27Speaker 2: they just they I didn't know what I was recording.
- 46:29Speaker 2: I was just, you know, given this bit of dialogue
- 46:30Speaker 2: and said, he goes, I'm the voice of the Stormtroopers.
- 46:33Speaker 2: I'm like, you are not. And it turns out Terry
- 46:36Speaker 2: McGovern is the voice of the fucking Stormtroopers.
- 46:40Speaker 1: Crazy is that?
- 46:41Speaker 2: He goes, I was just recording this audio for just
- 46:43Speaker 2: you know, this this new sci fi movie and what
- 46:45Speaker 2: it was, and then just that was it. And I've
- 46:47Speaker 2: got no, I guess, no, no royalties for it because
- 46:49Speaker 2: it was just a one and done gig. Here's the
- 46:51Speaker 2: voice of the fucking Stormtroopers and he gets no royalties
- 46:53Speaker 2: for it. Isn't that insane?
- 46:55Speaker 1: Well, yeah, I think the we're gonna be like discovering
- 46:58Speaker 1: this a lot because a lot of these voice actors
- 47:01Speaker 1: back then it wasn't as round upon to take non
- 47:04Speaker 1: union gigs, you know. And I'm sure that's what it
- 47:06Speaker 1: would have been the case for Harry Shearer. He probably
- 47:09Speaker 1: just got paid a one time fee to read some
- 47:10Speaker 1: stuff for this movie.
- 47:11Speaker 2: Probably won't be anything. He's probably read.
- 47:14Speaker 1: Stuff for hundreds of movies that never went anywhere or
- 47:17Speaker 1: did anything or invaded the culture and the way that
- 47:20Speaker 1: Star Wars has and yeah, we just get these fascinating
- 47:24Speaker 1: discoveries many years later.
- 47:28Speaker 2: Again, there's a couple episodes on this list here right,
- 47:30Speaker 2: that are really and it's ones that people probably sitting
- 47:33Speaker 2: home going it's the vacation episode. Why we're not talking
- 47:36Speaker 2: about this one? And the other one is you from Australia?
- 47:38Speaker 2: Why are you talking about this one? Yeah? The thing
- 47:41Speaker 2: is though it's school holidays a moment, I've got the
- 47:43Speaker 2: kids here, So I think this needs to be a
- 47:44Speaker 2: two partter. Would you be okay for this to be
- 47:46Speaker 2: a two parter? Yeah, yeah, let's do it. So there's
- 47:49Speaker 2: episodes here that we're going to touch in Part two
- 47:51Speaker 2: has been part one of the best and worst vacation episodes.
- 47:54Speaker 2: But of course, as you may have known from the
- 47:56Speaker 2: hints that A dropped, there's a couple of more notable
- 47:58Speaker 2: ones are gonna getting the list. Plus there's a lot
- 48:00Speaker 2: here of ones that I'm not quite sure about, plus
- 48:02Speaker 2: some other favorites of course, But there's something that I'm
- 48:04Speaker 2: really interested. What am I do is I might actually
- 48:06Speaker 2: just watch these ones so I can actually give my
- 48:08Speaker 2: proper thoughts on it, because you've given me sent this listen,
- 48:10Speaker 2: I've gone there's a lot more here that I haven't
- 48:12Speaker 2: seen than I have. So I'm going to revisit these
- 48:15Speaker 2: and we'll come back for part two and we'll dive
- 48:17Speaker 2: into them. What do you think sounds great?
- 48:19Speaker 1: Yeah, let's give a little tease for Bart versus Australia.
- 48:23Speaker 2: Rode Above's Australia Summer of four foot two is gonna
- 48:28Speaker 2: be another one. Homo Poloza were throwing the list as well,
- 48:30Speaker 2: getting into Homo Paluzer. But let us know in the comments.
- 48:32Speaker 2: What are some of your favorite Simpsons vacation episodes that
- 48:35Speaker 2: we haven't included in this one in particular, And if
- 48:38Speaker 2: there's ones from like later years as well that we
- 48:40Speaker 2: should probably revis Well, you've seen them all. I haven't
- 48:42Speaker 2: seen all of the later year ones, but if there's
- 48:44Speaker 2: something more recent episodes that Elliott may have missed, I'm
- 48:46Speaker 2: not too sure. Send those through it is mailbag at
