- 0:03Speaker 1: Well here we are finally. Good to see you, Gordon,
- 0:07Speaker 1: I don't believe you. Good to see you, Pavle, good
- 0:10Speaker 1: to see Are you being sponsored by that that dinosaur
- 0:13Speaker 1: brand with the walking stick?
- 0:15Speaker 2: Yes, you wear that a lot. No, I'm not.
- 0:17Speaker 1: No, just did you just go into that store and
- 0:19Speaker 1: just buy a whole heap of ship and just go this?
- 0:21Speaker 2: I'll do it just fits my beautiful body.
- 0:23Speaker 1: Yeah, your zeke, your your glistening pecks that wouldn't look
- 0:29Speaker 1: out of place on a yacht in the Mediterranean.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Guilty is charged speaking? Which I was there recently? Were you? Yeah?
- 0:36Speaker 2: Colus enough, I was in Nice. It was quite nice.
- 0:39Speaker 2: And where it is you've been sitting on that ever?
- 0:43Speaker 2: Come back? You want to?
- 0:45Speaker 1: You on some sort of boat surround by an electric boat.
- 0:48Speaker 1: Fat kind of European men with you.
- 0:51Speaker 2: Know we Australian man. That was other murtoring journealists. No
- 0:58Speaker 2: Tremor was there. Yeah, that's it. It wouldn't be buoyant
- 1:01Speaker 2: with him on it. No, just kidding.
- 1:03Speaker 3: No, we were there for the porchum car launch, which
- 1:05Speaker 3: we'll talk about soon.
- 1:06Speaker 2: But we're on an electric boat.
- 1:08Speaker 3: So this was basically a boat that runs a porschem
- 1:12Speaker 3: of carn motor and one hundred kilo what our battery?
- 1:16Speaker 2: Oh that's cool.
- 1:16Speaker 3: And if you thought that electric cars were not great
- 1:19Speaker 3: for long distance driving, how about an electric boat which
- 1:23Speaker 3: we left the harbor with fifty percent literally fanged around
- 1:27Speaker 3: in this just outside nice for I reckon ten to
- 1:30Speaker 3: fifteen minutes maximum and it was down to twenty five
- 1:34Speaker 3: percent and he had to put it in range mode
- 1:36Speaker 3: to get hited back to the Oh god.
- 1:39Speaker 1: So it's funny when man at Carr manufacturers do boats.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Lamborghini's got a boat. Yeah, the Lambo Boat's call though. Yeah,
- 1:45Speaker 1: that is cool. That looks something straight out about man.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Yeah, one of my friends has two of them because
- 1:49Speaker 3: you can in one frames. But this, this Porsche boat
- 1:54Speaker 3: is it's more designed as a tender, so a little
- 1:58Speaker 3: bitch boat for a bigger boat. So I guess that
- 2:01Speaker 3: kind of makes sense, and it means you can every boat.
- 2:03Speaker 3: Harbor has three phase charging, so it's easy to charge it.
- 2:06Speaker 1: But I love how someone thought water and electricity. That's
- 2:10Speaker 1: a good idea.
- 2:12Speaker 2: Fucking do that.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Yeah, wowe oh you know what, I you know what
- 2:16Speaker 1: I did have a cheeky crack at that bloody Toyota
- 2:20Speaker 1: b f z X whatever, the one that sounds like
- 2:23Speaker 1: Elon Musk's kid, but that one.
- 2:28Speaker 2: So you've been in this, right, you've been in this car.
- 2:31Speaker 3: I can't see the speeder. Yeah yeah, yeah, So I
- 2:34Speaker 3: don't know if that's just a mean thing. I think
- 2:35Speaker 3: it's a you thing, you and your weird shaped head.
- 2:38Speaker 1: I actually thought of that when when I sat in there,
- 2:41Speaker 1: I'm like, what's Paul talking about? Like the head's up
- 2:44Speaker 1: display looks all right. I think it sort of depends
- 2:45Speaker 1: on how you maneuver it. But it was such a
- 2:48Speaker 1: it's a confusing car that it's really confusing because it's
- 2:52Speaker 1: what it's Toyota's first EV and it's actually the one
- 2:56Speaker 1: I was in was top spec, well appointed, looks really
- 2:59Speaker 1: quite plush in the outside. I mean it's like Toyota
- 3:02Speaker 1: every now and then do this gimmecky sort of car design.
- 3:06Speaker 2: It's eighty thousand dollars. That's my only issue with it.
- 3:10Speaker 1: If it was a cheap, cheerful forty to fifty k,
- 3:14Speaker 1: you kind of go, eh.
- 3:15Speaker 2: Eighty k. Yeah.
- 3:17Speaker 3: I'll tell you where it makes sense. It makes sense
- 3:19Speaker 3: in the entry level front will drive version. And the
- 3:22Speaker 3: reason that car I think, Like, to me, I don't
- 3:25Speaker 3: think it's an amazing ev but the market for them
- 3:29Speaker 3: is Toyota customers. So it's someone who drives a camera
- 3:33Speaker 3: that wants an electric car, and it is literally just
- 3:36Speaker 3: an electric camera.
- 3:37Speaker 2: You get into it and it's Toyota.
- 3:38Speaker 3: There's buttons for everything, it does all the Toyota stuff
- 3:41Speaker 3: that you expect it to do. It's just very safe,
- 3:44Speaker 3: conservative Toyota. So to me it could actually do. Okay,
- 3:49Speaker 3: I personally wouldn't buy one. I don't think it has
- 3:52Speaker 3: the tech that I want out of it. I can't
- 3:54Speaker 3: see the speedo, which kind of important. But yeah, I
- 3:58Speaker 3: think that.
- 4:00Speaker 2: I'll be interested to see how it goes for them. Yeah.
- 4:04Speaker 2: Is it the same platform as that Subaru that they're
- 4:06Speaker 2: bringing out, Yes, the yeah Solterra yep.
- 4:08Speaker 1: I think the only difference that that's going to have
- 4:10Speaker 1: is they'll rip out any interior that looks remotely interesting
- 4:15Speaker 1: and just dumb it down, because the sol Terra interior
- 4:18Speaker 1: shots were pretty plain. But yeah, look, I thought it
- 4:22Speaker 1: was a good car.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Like it drives. I think it drives great.
- 4:25Speaker 1: I think it looks interesting, but the price tag blows
- 4:29Speaker 1: my mind, Like, especially in that market, I mean.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Sure, what are you gonna buy? You're gonna buy.
- 4:33Speaker 1: You're spending eighty thousand dollars on something that you think
- 4:38Speaker 1: is quality, you know what I mean, it's a brand name.
- 4:42Speaker 3: Here's the biggest issue for them. Just when was it
- 4:46Speaker 3: three or four days ago? Tesla dropped their prices massively.
- 4:51Speaker 3: So let me quickly run through this because this is
- 4:54Speaker 3: going to be Toyota's biggest headache because.
- 4:58Speaker 2: Because now let me open this up. He's opening up
- 5:03Speaker 2: his ass. Guys, he's not talking about anything here. We
- 5:06Speaker 2: want said, just get rid of your shit all over
- 5:08Speaker 2: a car brand. Here we go, Okay, here we go. Yeah.
- 5:12Speaker 3: So Tesla has just dropped their prices again. And to
- 5:16Speaker 3: put it into context.
- 5:17Speaker 2: Model three now starts at fifty eight thousand, nine hundred dollars,
- 5:21Speaker 2: which is the cheapest it's ever been.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Cheapest Tesla Model Y sixty nine hundred, which again is
- 5:28Speaker 3: the cheapest it's ever been for the price of or
- 5:32Speaker 3: similar price to that top spec BZ four X. You're
- 5:36Speaker 3: getting significantly more Tesla and you can even stretch to
- 5:40Speaker 3: a model wide performance for eighty two nine hundred. So
- 5:44Speaker 3: this is a huge price reduction. So if you compare
- 5:49Speaker 3: it to the peak, So it peaked to just after
- 5:51Speaker 3: Model Y came out at seventy two three hundred start price.
- 5:54Speaker 3: It's now sixty nine hundred, so twelve thousand dollars cheaper.
- 5:58Speaker 3: So Tesla is definitely trying to compete with its other
- 6:01Speaker 3: Chinese manufactured siblings, and the I guess the side effects
- 6:06Speaker 3: of that are going to be anyone that has gone
- 6:07Speaker 3: and bought any of these other evs that are now
- 6:10Speaker 3: significantly more expensive than the Tesla. The other thing that
- 6:14Speaker 3: that Tesla hasn't really thought maybe they have thought about
- 6:16Speaker 3: and they just don't care, is people that are trying
- 6:19Speaker 3: to now.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Sell these because.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I was going to ask with the Toyota,
- 6:25Speaker 1: because the depreciation on evs is terrible, but a Toyota
- 6:30Speaker 1: being a Toyota, they kind of hold their value, okay.
- 6:33Speaker 3: And Toyota's selling a lot of these on leases. They're
- 6:36Speaker 3: not really trying to push a driveway price. They're trying
- 6:39Speaker 3: to push a lease that means they just take it
- 6:41Speaker 3: back at the end of it and then who knows
- 6:43Speaker 3: what they're going to do with it then. But the
- 6:45Speaker 3: interesting thing here is if you took out a novated
- 6:47Speaker 3: lease with a model y at its peak, your car
- 6:52Speaker 3: on a two year ovated lease is going to be
- 6:53Speaker 3: coming up for it's residual and balloon that for me
- 6:59Speaker 3: is forty three thousand dollars. So at the moment, if
- 7:04Speaker 3: your balloon is forty three thousand dollars and a brand
- 7:07Speaker 3: new one is sixty thousand dollars, you're going to be
- 7:11Speaker 3: on the second hand market at about between forty and
- 7:14Speaker 3: fifty grand. I just think, I don't know that a
- 7:18Speaker 3: lot of people are going to be buying these secondhand,
- 7:20Speaker 3: and that is going to push the price of them
- 7:22Speaker 3: down even more as people try and panic sell because
- 7:25Speaker 3: they want to meet their balloon payment. And if you
- 7:27Speaker 3: have a look at a lot of the instant offer
- 7:28Speaker 3: people on the internet. So at car Expert, we've got
- 7:31Speaker 3: an instant offer thing. Car Sales has an instant off
- 7:33Speaker 3: a thing. They're all offering high thirties for the model.
- 7:38Speaker 3: Why at the moment, wow, I just speak, it is
- 7:42Speaker 3: going to be grim. And that's why people who ran
- 7:45Speaker 3: into this novated least thing thinking oh well, I'll save
- 7:47Speaker 3: money on my tax and all this sort of stuff,
- 7:49Speaker 3: they're going to get the shock of their life when
- 7:50Speaker 3: it comes to the balloon payment and not being able
- 7:52Speaker 3: to sell the car for anywhere near the balloon payment
- 7:55Speaker 3: and then being under So if that is you, email
- 7:59Speaker 3: us contact at the Dryshow dot com today. What do
- 8:01Speaker 3: you think about Tesla taking you know, twelve grand off
- 8:04Speaker 3: the price of this thing that you bought that hasn't
- 8:07Speaker 3: changed at all.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Speaking of Tesla, what I saw drive around Sydney yesterday.
- 8:13Speaker 1: They decided to sneak in a cyber truck.
- 8:16Speaker 3: It's a little bit cheeky and you know what they did,
- 8:19Speaker 3: just not not trying to get too much attention.
- 8:21Speaker 2: They drove it to Bondai and parked a.
- 8:23Speaker 1: Bit park it parked at a Bondai and they did
- 8:26Speaker 1: park it at the shopping mall in Double Bay.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Now that whole area is quite affluent, and it looked
- 8:34Speaker 2: so out of it.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Just there's something about the cyber truck, maybe because they
- 8:39Speaker 1: haven't been here, but you know what it is, It
- 8:42Speaker 1: looks so out of place in Australian roads.
- 8:44Speaker 2: It is it is. This is going to sound creepy,
- 8:48Speaker 2: but it is the guy that goes to the children's
- 8:51Speaker 2: playground in a trench coat. It's you. It has nothing
- 8:54Speaker 2: on underneath them open to his trench car. It's the
- 8:56Speaker 2: shock that is the most amazing compots.
- 9:00Speaker 1: You know what, This car is like a pedophile, That's
- 9:04Speaker 1: what it's like. This car's like a guy who owns
- 9:07Speaker 1: a trampoline but doesn't have kids, but.
- 9:10Speaker 2: It's one of those people who just wants shock factor. Right.
- 9:13Speaker 3: That is what the car is about, and that is
- 9:15Speaker 3: why it will be short lived in terms of its popularity,
- 9:18Speaker 3: because if you're the first to have one, everyone's like, oh, well,
- 9:21Speaker 3: look at this thing.
- 9:22Speaker 2: But I think it will end up being like the
- 9:25Speaker 2: what was the as Tech Pontiac Oh yeah, yeah, Pontiac Aztek,
- 9:30Speaker 2: the car out of Breaking Bad.
- 9:31Speaker 3: It just looks like that, which at the time would
- 9:34Speaker 3: have been like, oh wow, I've got a Pontiac as tick.
- 9:36Speaker 3: It's look at me now. You look at and you're like, oh,
- 9:38Speaker 3: it's a Pontiac as Tech. I think that's what the
- 9:41Speaker 3: cyber truck is going to end up being, because I
- 9:43Speaker 3: think it looks cool now and cool in the sense
- 9:46Speaker 3: that it's different to everything else. I can't see it
- 9:49Speaker 3: being a longer term thing. It's in Australia, where people
- 9:51Speaker 3: were asking why is it in Australia, Right, It's probably
- 9:54Speaker 3: in Australia to test software and hardware. So they actually
- 9:59Speaker 3: brought out a model ess plaid played a little while back,
- 10:02Speaker 3: which we don't get here and we won't be getting here,
- 10:05Speaker 3: and they brought that out to do some testing.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Typically, if they're testing.
- 10:08Speaker 3: New cameras, for example, they want to check that it
- 10:10Speaker 3: works with our road signs, and they might roll those
- 10:12Speaker 3: cameras out into the Model three and the Model Y,
- 10:14Speaker 3: which we do get in Australia.
- 10:16Speaker 2: Interesting though, that they did that with a cyber truck.
- 10:19Speaker 3: Yeah, well, look at you get two things out of it. One,
- 10:21Speaker 3: you get to drive up interest. Tesla sales are declining
- 10:24Speaker 3: that they're having big issues as a company in terms
- 10:27Speaker 3: of hitting targets and selling cars. Second part is you know,
- 10:31Speaker 3: if you bring it around here, everyone wants to go
- 10:33Speaker 3: get a photo with it. And next to it, conveniently
- 10:35Speaker 3: is a Model three and a Model Y. So I
- 10:37Speaker 3: think they'll end up probably doing a bit of a
- 10:39Speaker 3: road show tour around the country with it just to
- 10:42Speaker 3: get that interest up.
- 10:42Speaker 2: But who does.
- 10:44Speaker 1: There is a picture of it parked at Double Bay.
- 10:48Speaker 1: Oh god, just in my cyber truck trying to fight
- 10:52Speaker 1: a car park because I'm late for plarties.
- 10:54Speaker 2: Oh, I've got to meet up for cappuccinos with the girls.
- 10:57Speaker 2: Lander two. That is as a fat little bagger, isn't that. Yeah?
- 11:02Speaker 3: I mean, look at it's right up against the curb
- 11:04Speaker 3: and it's sticking sticking out, so it's a big old thing.
- 11:07Speaker 2: Can't see it coming here? I just can't. Well, it
- 11:10Speaker 2: won't be coming here.
- 11:11Speaker 3: And I'll explain why they build it only in Texas
- 11:14Speaker 3: and currently they have a huge order bank in the
- 11:17Speaker 3: States for it. Their production is incredibly low like that.
- 11:21Speaker 3: They haven't figured out how to actually mass produce it yet,
- 11:23Speaker 3: so they're going to be figuring out the States for
- 11:25Speaker 3: quite some time before they even look at anything.
- 11:28Speaker 2: In right hand drive. What is that? That's a hememache
- 11:32Speaker 2: on the back of a I know why you're sitting
- 11:36Speaker 2: at a patrol Yeah, this and via patrol Warrior. That's
- 11:41Speaker 2: just because you can want to know anyway. Anyway, the
- 11:45Speaker 2: key ut right? What is it called the Tasman or
- 11:48Speaker 2: some Tasman?
- 11:49Speaker 1: So the ad dropped, which we forgot to talk about,
- 11:52Speaker 1: but I'll bring it up now. I think everyone I
- 11:56Speaker 1: think it's some bloody clever advertising. I think it's it's
- 11:58Speaker 1: fantastics x Yeah, it's really well done. The problem is,
- 12:03Speaker 1: I'm not the sportiest bloke in the world.
- 12:05Speaker 2: I didn't know who the fucking of them were. Ash Barji, Yeah,
- 12:10Speaker 2: it's like ash Barti. Is she the one that sailed
- 12:12Speaker 2: solo around the world? Which run?
- 12:15Speaker 1: She?
- 12:17Speaker 2: It wasn't that the guy in anyway.
- 12:20Speaker 3: So apparently they filmed that in Bondai at a pub. Yeah,
- 12:24Speaker 3: over a couple of days.
- 12:26Speaker 2: The Bondo pub. Yeah, it was filmed in Bondo Okay. Yeah.
- 12:30Speaker 3: But I was actually asking someone about this. I thought,
- 12:33Speaker 3: this is an expensive ad. If you have to get
- 12:34Speaker 3: that many celebrities.
- 12:36Speaker 2: Please wend All Sailor's in it. That's his first gig
- 12:38Speaker 2: in quite sometimes who that is? But I was at
- 12:41Speaker 2: the Sailor the one that went around Yeah probably.
- 12:45Speaker 3: So yeah, And apparently what happened was they got a
- 12:48Speaker 3: couple of big names on board, and when the people
- 12:50Speaker 3: they approached her that the big names were on board,
- 12:52Speaker 3: they wanted to be involved as well, So it ended
- 12:54Speaker 3: up becoming a fomo thing. Yeah, they weren't all there
- 12:58Speaker 3: at the same time, but they look like they were.
- 13:01Speaker 3: So it's a clever campaign because this is a big
- 13:04Speaker 3: deal for Kea and if you look at Australia for
- 13:08Speaker 3: KEA where home of the Australian Open. Obviously they're a
- 13:11Speaker 3: global sort of partner of that event, so Keia Global
- 13:15Speaker 3: spends a lot of money here, so that means that
- 13:17Speaker 3: KEA Australia benefits from the advertising, the cars that they
- 13:20Speaker 3: have to buy to run the event, et cetera. And
- 13:23Speaker 3: the ute is going to be we will probably be
- 13:25Speaker 3: the primary market for that vehicle unless it goes to
- 13:27Speaker 3: the States as well, and they're putting a lot of
- 13:30Speaker 3: effort into right and handling tuning here. Australia has had
- 13:32Speaker 3: a lot of involvement in the development work for that car.
- 13:36Speaker 3: What we do know and we've just put a video
- 13:37Speaker 3: up on car Expit about this, we do know that
- 13:39Speaker 3: it won't have V six so it'll only be four cylinder.
- 13:42Speaker 3: There is an electric ute coming, but it may not
- 13:45Speaker 3: be coming to Australia, so that's due to be launched
- 13:47Speaker 3: next year.
- 13:48Speaker 2: Four cylinder. Could this be a hybrid, No, just diesel,
- 13:51Speaker 2: straight diesel.
- 13:52Speaker 3: Currently their only four cylinder diesel is like four hundred
- 13:55Speaker 3: and forty ut meters, so it is pretty piss week.
- 13:58Speaker 3: If they do want it to compete, it'll need to
- 13:59Speaker 3: be the or seventy to match Triton or five hundred
- 14:02Speaker 3: to match Ranger and high Lux, so that they're the
- 14:05Speaker 3: things that they have.
- 14:06Speaker 2: To focus on. The design. I don't know if you've
- 14:09Speaker 2: seen it, but it's interesting looking. I don't hate it, Okay,
- 14:14Speaker 2: I don't hate it. I think it looks all right.
- 14:17Speaker 2: It looks good.
- 14:17Speaker 3: So we had our guy do some sort of renders
- 14:21Speaker 3: based on all of the spy photos we've had so far,
- 14:25Speaker 3: and this is what he's come up with.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Okay, that's what do you think? It's just showed me
- 14:29Speaker 2: some Butcher's paper and crayon drawing geese. Your guy must
- 14:33Speaker 2: be really good. I like it.
- 14:34Speaker 1: Yeah, I think it looks good. The headlights yeah, vertical, yeah,
- 14:39Speaker 1: I think that. I think they're a little bit more
- 14:41Speaker 1: square on the real thing, aren't they.
- 14:43Speaker 2: No, this is this is the okay, look like right? Well, yeah,
- 14:46Speaker 2: I think it looks good. I think it looks good. Interesting. Well.
- 14:50Speaker 1: Most of the time, I'll shit on a car, literally
- 14:53Speaker 1: I did. I did want on yours on downstairs. Unfortunately
- 14:57Speaker 1: it wasn't actually yours tops car.
- 15:00Speaker 2: The key I'm excited for it. I'm excited. You know
- 15:05Speaker 2: what the care you could even be my new car.
- 15:08Speaker 2: Oh watch out you, you tray to you.
- 15:11Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 15:11Speaker 1: I'm getting a bit itchy. I'm getting a bit itchy.
- 15:14Speaker 1: I'm getting some new car fields.
- 15:16Speaker 2: I'm currently kind of going, I think of only.
- 15:19Speaker 1: I mean, I've really taken the out back to the
- 15:22Speaker 1: art back and beyond.
- 15:23Speaker 2: I mean it's dark. You would if it wouldn't run
- 15:26Speaker 2: out of fuel.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Yeah, you got to the edge of s We're still bloody,
- 15:29Speaker 1: averaging twelve twelve leaders per one hundred k's something weird.
- 15:33Speaker 2: Do you know what else I noticed about it too?
- 15:35Speaker 1: I don't think it's got front sensors, like parking senses doesn't.
- 15:39Speaker 3: I don't think it has risk senses either. Nah, it's
- 15:41Speaker 3: got a camera, yeah, and that's about it.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Yeah. The other day I was like, this car doesn't
- 15:46Speaker 2: have front parkers. That's a screaming noise. Yeah, Oh that's
- 15:49Speaker 2: my key. What's her a handbag on the bottom. Oh
- 15:53Speaker 2: that's my wife. What's going on? Oh? Well, their fault,
- 15:59Speaker 2: not mine.
- 16:00Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 16:00Speaker 2: No. The other day I was like, I'm going to
- 16:02Speaker 2: test this. This definitely doesn't have senses. And we're at
- 16:06Speaker 2: our house.
- 16:06Speaker 1: We've got one of those those gates, you know, that
- 16:09Speaker 1: electronically open with the driveway, and so I'm just kind
- 16:12Speaker 1: of like, before I do this, I'm just going to
- 16:15Speaker 1: give it a little bit of a Yeah. It definitely
- 16:17Speaker 1: doesn't give it a nudge. Yeah, yeah, definitely doesn't have
- 16:20Speaker 1: fucking senses.
- 16:21Speaker 2: What I've learned from this is not to buy a
- 16:22Speaker 2: car from Gordy. Yes, it's going to be on the
- 16:25Speaker 2: second hand market very soon.
- 16:27Speaker 1: I'll let you know, to be honest with you, I'll
- 16:28Speaker 1: probably still keep it because I think I stand by
- 16:31Speaker 1: It still drives great, just choose up the fuel a
- 16:35Speaker 1: little bit.
- 16:36Speaker 2: But yeah, I'm starting to shop around, start to shop around.
- 16:40Speaker 1: Maybe I could be looking at one of the cars
- 16:43Speaker 1: that we're sort of going to be talking about later on.
- 16:45Speaker 2: Yeah, go on. Oh, We'll just going to give you
- 16:47Speaker 2: a little bit of a sneak. Yeah, okay. Well I
- 16:49Speaker 2: drove the BYD Seal Performance oh wow, and I freaking
- 16:55Speaker 2: loved it. Interesting, I did. I really, I really enjoyed it.
- 16:58Speaker 1: The problem, which we'll get into, but the problem with
- 17:01Speaker 1: a lot of these cheap performance evs, and I mean
- 17:05Speaker 1: seventy thousand dollars is not you know, but it's not
- 17:08Speaker 1: exactly MGX power.
- 17:10Speaker 2: Cheap which is like what fifty.
- 17:14Speaker 1: They tend to drive fast, obviously in a straight line,
- 17:17Speaker 1: and then the handling on them is just generally rubbish.
- 17:20Speaker 1: This handles brilliantly. So well, it's such a smooth car.
- 17:24Speaker 1: And yeah, it's got the speed when you need it too.
- 17:27Speaker 1: It's tucked away there, so we'll talk about it later.
- 17:30Speaker 2: But get you some tissue paper for that gushing, just
- 17:34Speaker 2: to clean it up. What do you need? That's some
- 17:36Speaker 2: tissues for your gushing?
- 17:37Speaker 1: Jesus Christ. She just took that. Someone's been on Born
- 17:41Speaker 1: Harbor bit too much. God, something's front of mind. Hey,
- 17:46Speaker 1: some cars that have been dropping lately, the new lambou
- 17:50Speaker 1: Urus was it the s Yeah, top of my head?
- 17:54Speaker 2: V eight hybrid?
- 17:55Speaker 1: Yeah, interesting, I'm plugging hybrid now listen. Can we just
- 18:01Speaker 1: take one second before anything else? Is it just me
- 18:05Speaker 1: or a plug in? Hybrids just a bit shit in
- 18:08Speaker 1: terms of just a pain.
- 18:09Speaker 2: In the ass.
- 18:11Speaker 3: So yes, yeah, well, especially when they're half a million
- 18:14Speaker 3: dollars and you're just adding weight to this thing. Know,
- 18:19Speaker 3: the vight engine is augmented by an electric motor, so
- 18:22Speaker 3: it adds one hundred and forty kilo. What's a power
- 18:25Speaker 3: four hundred and eighty new meters of talk. The problem
- 18:30Speaker 3: is that it's integrated into the eight speed auto, and
- 18:33Speaker 3: every car I've driven now that has a plug in
- 18:35Speaker 3: hybrid integrated into an eight speed automatic transmission hasn't been
- 18:39Speaker 3: great because unlike a Toyota hybrid, for example, where you
- 18:42Speaker 3: have a CVET or you know, it's not actually a CVT,
- 18:46Speaker 3: but something that's designed like a CVET, you're getting instant
- 18:50Speaker 3: talk because you're not waiting for this thing to figure
- 18:52Speaker 3: out which gear it needs to be in. When it's
- 18:55Speaker 3: integrated with the transmission, the electric motor doesn't do anything
- 18:58Speaker 3: until the transmission is in gear effectively, so when you
- 19:01Speaker 3: go to step on the throttle, there's still momentary ladag.
- 19:05Speaker 2: Yeah. So I don't know. To me, yeah, it seems fine.
- 19:10Speaker 3: But they tend to and obviously haven't driven it, but
- 19:12Speaker 3: they tend to work better once you actually have an
- 19:14Speaker 3: electric motor that can operate independently of everything so that
- 19:17Speaker 3: you can actually get that initial surge of talk, and
- 19:19Speaker 3: then once the engine's ready to get then sort of
- 19:21Speaker 3: picks up the balance.
- 19:22Speaker 1: It just feels like it like to fill something up
- 19:24Speaker 1: with petrol and to plug it in as well.
- 19:27Speaker 2: Just that alone on any car I just find just pointless.
- 19:31Speaker 3: Yeah, look, I think this will end up feeling a
- 19:34Speaker 3: bit like the BMWXM and that is just not a
- 19:37Speaker 3: great car.
- 19:38Speaker 2: Like it's fast, yes, but it's just a bit complicated
- 19:42Speaker 2: and annoying to drive. So I understand why they're doing this.
- 19:45Speaker 3: Obviously the Volkswagen Group needs to move towards electrification. But
- 19:49Speaker 3: to me, I would just be buying a regular Urus.
- 19:52Speaker 3: And you know what, we actually have just filmed a
- 19:55Speaker 3: new drag racing series. We're filmed in regional Wa and
- 20:00Speaker 3: one of the cars we used was Anenorus perform Ante
- 20:04Speaker 3: that you can only buy if you've bought the CNSA
- 20:07Speaker 3: SCV twelve. So that is all no plug in hybrid
- 20:11Speaker 3: stuff in that, and it is so much fun to drive,
- 20:13Speaker 3: so you don't need the plug in hybrid.
- 20:15Speaker 2: You know. It's yeah, I don't.
- 20:17Speaker 1: Know what else has dropped? Oh haal have been dropping
- 20:21Speaker 1: a few little bits and pieces. I know we've got
- 20:22Speaker 1: quite a few. Haveal fans? Have we have apparently who
- 20:29Speaker 1: listens to this podcast apparently.
- 20:31Speaker 3: Have a look at them, then huh, have a look
- 20:35Speaker 3: at them, then have a look at what the fans
- 20:39Speaker 3: look at them? Then Okay, the cars, I'll make the
- 20:41Speaker 3: jacks bro.
- 20:43Speaker 2: What about that they've called it the havel wrapped there
- 20:46Speaker 2: you go. We should swap your wraptor out for a
- 20:48Speaker 2: havel rap.
- 20:48Speaker 1: I might have to one hundred and forty five kilometers
- 20:52Speaker 1: of electric range. Speaking of feathers, super cute not on
- 20:57Speaker 1: a half from Fee fee feather Neck. I don't know
- 21:01Speaker 1: that's a radio show here in Melbourne. This is me
- 21:03Speaker 1: just me doing the old play on words.
- 21:08Speaker 2: And why Melbourne? Is that because you're national?
- 21:10Speaker 3: Now national guys, Brizzy, Sydney.
- 21:17Speaker 2: And min Yeah?
- 21:18Speaker 1: Yeah, Actually, you know what I noticed with our merch
- 21:22Speaker 1: drop that I decided to tease the people with we.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Went out of extra large very quick. Did Donna just
- 21:33Speaker 2: take them?
- 21:34Speaker 1: Donna took four and just sewed him into a bed sheets? Yes,
- 21:39Speaker 1: you don't want to know about Donna's bed sheets. We
- 21:41Speaker 1: should give her a call later. You should check in
- 21:43Speaker 1: with Donna latter.
- 21:44Speaker 2: I think that's a good idea. I think that's a
- 21:46Speaker 2: great idea. We'll check in with Donal later. What else?
- 21:48Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I wanted to get your thoughts on the
- 21:50Speaker 1: Porsche McCarn ev because I remember seeing the press photos
- 21:57Speaker 1: when they dropped this. Press photos are an interesting I'd
- 22:00Speaker 1: love to talk to somebody who does press photos for
- 22:03Speaker 1: these car companies one day, because I feel like they
- 22:07Speaker 1: can make or break something like in terms of a
- 22:10Speaker 1: McCann or there's been so many cars where the BMWM two.
- 22:15Speaker 1: When I saw pictures of that, the press photos of that,
- 22:17Speaker 1: I thought it was the most hideous looking thing ever.
- 22:20Speaker 1: But then when you get in it and you see it,
- 22:22Speaker 1: and you know, when you actually see it in the flesh,
- 22:24Speaker 1: it looks so much better, like when you're standing in
- 22:26Speaker 1: front of it. But yeah, the mccarne v. I mean,
- 22:30Speaker 1: technically there shouldn't be too much difference styling wise, but
- 22:33Speaker 1: I thought it looked a little bit boring the way
- 22:36Speaker 1: Porsche announced this.
- 22:39Speaker 3: Yeah, look so I have the chance to drive it
- 22:42Speaker 3: in in France at the launch and okay, so let's
- 22:47Speaker 3: start with the styling. So it definitely looks good in person.
- 22:49Speaker 3: That's great, except if you get the taxi yellow color
- 22:52Speaker 3: they have, which looked pretty awful. The thing is with
- 22:56Speaker 3: this McCann, the McCann is fifty percent of Porsche's volume.
- 23:02Speaker 2: It saved Porsche, so they're.
- 23:05Speaker 3: Going to go and take the car that saved them
- 23:07Speaker 3: and the car that accounts for half of their sales,
- 23:11Speaker 3: and they're killing the internal combustion version. They've increased the
- 23:15Speaker 3: price significantly, so it now starts at one hundred and
- 23:18Speaker 3: thirty three plus on roads, and that is before you
- 23:20Speaker 3: even add one option to it. Started it under one
- 23:23Speaker 3: hundred Previously, the McCann Turbo, which was I think about
- 23:26Speaker 3: one hundred and thirty grand, is now one hundred and
- 23:28Speaker 3: ninety plus on roads.
- 23:30Speaker 2: So it is a huge step up.
- 23:32Speaker 3: And to me, I think that is their first mistake,
- 23:34Speaker 3: because you used to have someone who could stretch their
- 23:37Speaker 3: budget from let's say Q five to get a McCarn. Yes,
- 23:41Speaker 3: they get a Porsche, they get the whole experience.
- 23:44Speaker 2: Everything's great.
- 23:45Speaker 3: But now that person isn't just going to go, oh, well,
- 23:49Speaker 3: I'll just spend another forty grand.
- 23:50Speaker 2: I mean, I just don't.
- 23:51Speaker 3: I don't see how they didn't get that sort of
- 23:54Speaker 3: logic step. They will announce more so they're only launching
- 23:57Speaker 3: with McCarn four and McCarn Turbo will do an entry
- 24:00Speaker 3: level version, but that will probably still be well over
- 24:03Speaker 3: one hundred grand. In terms of the design itself. I
- 24:06Speaker 3: thought they were actually doing two versions this coupe sort
- 24:08Speaker 3: of looking one and then a standard one. This is
- 24:11Speaker 3: the only body style, so they're not actually doing a
- 24:14Speaker 3: sort of standard looking one in terms of the way
- 24:16Speaker 3: that it drives. So starting off with the interior, it
- 24:19Speaker 3: is beautiful. It looks fantastic. This will be built in Germany,
- 24:23Speaker 3: so it's not like the kN that I drive last
- 24:25Speaker 3: which was where was that built in Slovenia. That thing
- 24:28Speaker 3: was a bit of a bit of a shit beriaky doors. Yeah,
- 24:31Speaker 3: it really wasn't very good. So this will be German built.
- 24:35Speaker 3: That will present volume issues because Germany is doing mccarne
- 24:39Speaker 3: v for the world, so it means that immediately I
- 24:42Speaker 3: can see this becoming a volume problem for Australia, which
- 24:45Speaker 3: is a smaller market.
- 24:47Speaker 2: So the interior is nice.
- 24:48Speaker 3: There's a lot of customization options, so there's a lot
- 24:50Speaker 3: of stuff that you can pay to customize to make
- 24:52Speaker 3: it your own. So they really want to make this
- 24:54Speaker 3: quite a style statement.
- 24:55Speaker 1: Yeah, I've seen you can definitely do the passenger side
- 24:58Speaker 1: display yep display, thing's pretty cool. A lot of money
- 25:03Speaker 1: for a cool little feature.
- 25:04Speaker 3: Yeah, they've replaced the operating system with Android Automotive OS,
- 25:08Speaker 3: so it gives them far better building blocks to work off.
- 25:10Speaker 3: So the skin looks similar to other Porsch products, but
- 25:13Speaker 3: beneath the skin it is a completely different operating system
- 25:17Speaker 3: to the last generation mccaun. In terms of the way
- 25:20Speaker 3: that it drives, the McCann turbo is now two point
- 25:24Speaker 3: four tons. That's heavy, so it is three hundred kilos
- 25:27Speaker 3: heavier than a V eight kN It is bloody enormous.
- 25:31Speaker 1: It handles beautifully, yeah, does it Does it feel rigid
- 25:34Speaker 1: or does.
- 25:35Speaker 2: It feel like a Porsche?
- 25:36Speaker 3: Feels good, so, steering feel is fantastic, The breaks feel good.
- 25:39Speaker 3: It does the standard Porsche YV thing with a lot
- 25:41Speaker 3: of region handles well. The problem is though, that we
- 25:45Speaker 3: drive it on just sort of mountain roads. It's not
- 25:48Speaker 3: really the perfect place to be testing this car. The
- 25:51Speaker 3: real test will be when we get it back here
- 25:52Speaker 3: in Australia and we take it for a bit of
- 25:54Speaker 3: a more spirited drive and see what it's like on
- 25:56Speaker 3: city streets. You can get up to twenty two inches.
- 25:58Speaker 3: In terms of the wheels, air suspension is available on
- 26:04Speaker 3: the four standard on the turbo rewill steering.
- 26:07Speaker 2: I wasn't a huge fan of that standard.
- 26:09Speaker 3: On the turbo, it sort of just feels a bit
- 26:11Speaker 3: funny when you're sort of going a little bit quicker
- 26:13Speaker 3: with it. It is monumentally quick. It's like three point
- 26:16Speaker 3: three seconds to one hundred or something like that. With
- 26:18Speaker 3: the McCann turbo as I think it's over a thousand
- 26:21Speaker 3: meters of talk like it is. It is an absolute
- 26:23Speaker 3: monster of a thing. So they've got the fundamentals right there.
- 26:27Speaker 3: But to me, where this will fall apart is on price,
- 26:31Speaker 3: because I just don't think a consumer that was spending
- 26:34Speaker 3: that much on a mccahn is really going to run
- 26:36Speaker 3: and dive into this, and perhaps that's what they're expecting,
- 26:39Speaker 3: and which is why they've increased the price, knowing they'll
- 26:41Speaker 3: get less volume.
- 26:43Speaker 1: Well, they're not going to be able to meet the
- 26:45Speaker 1: demand anyway. Really, I'm predicting they won't be able to
- 26:48Speaker 1: meet the demand anyway. Well, I'll tell you why I
- 26:50Speaker 1: reckon that. I don't know that there is that much demand.
- 26:54Speaker 1: So the reason why I say that, whenever we.
- 26:57Speaker 3: Publish a review, I'll know pretty quickly how popular it is,
- 27:01Speaker 3: and typically a car that sells well will get a
- 27:04Speaker 3: lot of views quickly. You could not pay people to
- 27:08Speaker 3: watch our McCann review and then I thought, that's really weird.
- 27:11Speaker 3: I then had to look globally at all the McCann
- 27:13Speaker 3: EV reviews, and some of them had barely any views.
- 27:17Speaker 3: Some of the biggest channels in the world had barely
- 27:19Speaker 3: any views. We saw the same thing with the only
- 27:21Speaker 3: five M which we'll talk about soon. So that tells
- 27:24Speaker 3: me that perhaps the demand they think is there isn't
- 27:27Speaker 3: actually there. So the time will come at the end
- 27:30Speaker 3: of the year when the cars are here, we'll see
- 27:32Speaker 3: how many they sell and how it sells compared to
- 27:35Speaker 3: the previous generation.
- 27:36Speaker 2: But yeah, it'll be interesting. If you are wanting a McCann.
- 27:40Speaker 3: That isn't the EV you have until the end of
- 27:42Speaker 3: May to order it because that's when they're closing their
- 27:45Speaker 3: order books for custom build vehicles. So if you do
- 27:49Speaker 3: want that, you need to get in before then otherwise
- 27:51Speaker 3: it's done.
- 27:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 27:53Speaker 1: Maybe I don't know performance evs. Maybe people are just
- 27:57Speaker 1: not ready for them yet. Look at the resale value
- 27:59Speaker 1: of the time.
- 28:00Speaker 2: Can't talk about a bargain, absolutely, ty can't.
- 28:03Speaker 3: So I think that if that's your if that's what's
- 28:06Speaker 3: coming for you by buying one of these, maybe you
- 28:08Speaker 3: don't care.
- 28:08Speaker 2: Maybe we don't care about resell.
- 28:10Speaker 3: But to me, if I was buying a regular Portra
- 28:13Speaker 3: in the resol was typically pretty good, and now the
- 28:15Speaker 3: evs aren't very good.
- 28:17Speaker 1: Oh oh, did you see this, the Alpha Romeo Milano.
- 28:22Speaker 2: Ugly little turd box. It's what I think of that.
- 28:25Speaker 1: Okay, moving on to a re vibe about it. Did
- 28:29Speaker 1: you see that to change the name? Oh, because it
- 28:31Speaker 1: was called junior or something.
- 28:32Speaker 3: No, it is now junior because it's like champagne. You
- 28:36Speaker 3: can't call a bubbly wine champagne unless it is from
- 28:40Speaker 3: Champagne in France. Same with this, the Italian government, not
- 28:44Speaker 3: from Milano. Tallian said, well, because this is made somewhere else.
- 28:48Speaker 3: I don't know where it's made, you can't call it
- 28:51Speaker 3: the you can't call it the Milano. So it's now
- 28:54Speaker 3: called the Junior or whatever it is called the Manaro Manara.
- 28:58Speaker 2: It's not from Manaro made. You can't fucking naman Manaro.
- 29:02Speaker 2: Shut up, Donna, we'll talk to you later. Come on, darling,
- 29:08Speaker 2: Alfa Romeo Junior. It's just such a stupid name. Stupid.
- 29:12Speaker 2: Well that suits because I think it looks stupid. But
- 29:13Speaker 2: they could have given it anything. They could have told anything.
- 29:16Speaker 1: Look, I think Alpha makes great cars are great looking cars,
- 29:20Speaker 1: especially the interiors.
- 29:21Speaker 2: But have you seen this? This is yeah, I'm looking
- 29:23Speaker 2: at it right now. Well, well let us know contact
- 29:27Speaker 2: at the Drivers Show dot com today you I.
- 29:29Speaker 1: Think I'm in Do you know what I think? I'm
- 29:31Speaker 1: easily just impressed today with everything. Usually i'm quite critical. Ah, yeah,
- 29:35Speaker 1: I love it.
- 29:37Speaker 2: Have a look at this thing.
- 29:38Speaker 1: There's bits about it. I don't like that. Those lights
- 29:41Speaker 1: look a bit look a bit reno. Oh, I tell
- 29:44Speaker 1: you what looks great? Like really great. The fore Runner
- 29:48Speaker 1: is coming back.
- 29:49Speaker 2: Yes, now that I'm excited about. Yes, that is really cool.
- 29:53Speaker 1: It's really cool and it looks good too. I think
- 29:56Speaker 1: we'll get the typical the burksuits of Pokey. I saw
- 30:00Speaker 1: some videos coming to Australia. Oh shit, well it hasn't
- 30:06Speaker 1: been announced for Australia.
- 30:07Speaker 2: But yeah, that's that's a real disappointment.
- 30:09Speaker 1: They, I mean, were what was that That was a
- 30:12Speaker 1: sort of a mid nineties car, a real kind of
- 30:15Speaker 1: coasty sort of surfers coupled.
- 30:18Speaker 2: I think they were called like a Toyota surf they and.
- 30:21Speaker 3: I think they were called a fore Runner as well. Well,
- 30:23Speaker 3: that was a variant or something like that. It was
- 30:24Speaker 3: like a tougher version of the Prato effectively, And yeah,
- 30:29Speaker 3: I think I think they look great.
- 30:31Speaker 2: Yep, I think they look fantastic.
- 30:33Speaker 3: I think what they've what Toyota has been able to
- 30:34Speaker 3: achieve with this TNGA platform that this is built off,
- 30:39Speaker 3: is so cool. They've done such a good job with
- 30:42Speaker 3: just all these different variants and just giving them a
- 30:44Speaker 3: really unique vibe. I love the Toyota lettering on the dashboard.
- 30:47Speaker 3: They've got RB accessories. Yeah, blood bloody cool, I reckon.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, No, the front looks the front looks tough
- 30:56Speaker 1: and now just looks like a proper kind of go
- 31:00Speaker 1: anywhere little machine.
- 31:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:03Speaker 1: I really do hope they bring that that see to me,
- 31:06Speaker 1: that makes more sense like that bringing that out rather
- 31:09Speaker 1: than their the ev that they're just planted.
- 31:11Speaker 2: But we will see, we will see.
- 31:15Speaker 1: Hey, okay, so let's talk about the Naive.
- 31:20Speaker 2: So what a great car.
- 31:22Speaker 3: Yes, So I had the chance to drive it at
- 31:26Speaker 3: Eastern Creek on the track.
- 31:27Speaker 2: It was incredible fun.
- 31:29Speaker 3: And just recently I mentioned this before, we've we've launched
- 31:32Speaker 3: a new drag racing series and we hired an airport
- 31:37Speaker 3: in regional Western Australia and shout out to the locals
- 31:40Speaker 3: in Wildcatchum is.
- 31:42Speaker 2: That the is that the traditional name? I don't think so,
- 31:47Speaker 2: okay what you mean, but.
- 31:49Speaker 3: That's how you wouldn't know what But anyway, so yeah,
- 31:53Speaker 3: we hired an airport there, had all of this emergency
- 31:56Speaker 3: services and stuff, and then borrowed a stack of cool
- 31:58Speaker 3: cars from from a friend of ours to do drag
- 32:01Speaker 3: racing in. And this ironic five N is a beast
- 32:05Speaker 3: like we genuinely when we started this series, we thought,
- 32:08Speaker 3: you know, look, it's probably not going to win, but
- 32:12Speaker 3: it'll look cool when it goes up against some of
- 32:13Speaker 3: these cars.
- 32:14Speaker 2: And then when it started.
- 32:16Speaker 3: Beating most of these cars, I was like, oh, this is.
- 32:20Speaker 2: Going to look fake, This is gonna look staged like it.
- 32:24Speaker 3: Literally bett cars are worth over a million dollars across
- 32:28Speaker 3: the quarter mile, So.
- 32:29Speaker 2: And what is that on road? That's like one hundred
- 32:31Speaker 2: and ten thousand dollars plus plus on roads. Yeah, okay, so.
- 32:34Speaker 1: It's a let's call it a one hundred and fifteen.
- 32:38Speaker 2: It's one hundred and ten thousand dollars worth of supercar.
- 32:41Speaker 3: And yeah, and it's not even just that it goes
- 32:44Speaker 3: fast in a straight line. When we did our full
- 32:46Speaker 3: review of this at Lang Lang Lang. It's actually just
- 32:50Speaker 3: some of the features that it has so you can
- 32:52Speaker 3: control so much in so you've got everything from traditional
- 32:56Speaker 3: engine sounds and it does sound gimmicky, but when you
- 32:59Speaker 3: pair the traditional engine sounds with the gear shifting, it
- 33:02Speaker 3: just feels like a fast internal combustion car. Like it
- 33:05Speaker 3: will literally pulse gears. It will allay to downshift. It
- 33:08Speaker 3: does pulses on downshow do you do hear crackles and
- 33:11Speaker 3: pops anything, which I loved, which is really cool. You
- 33:14Speaker 3: can then adjust talk split. It's got a drift optimizer.
- 33:17Speaker 3: Probably the coolest part though, is the repeatability of the
- 33:20Speaker 3: drive train, So you can set it into a drag
- 33:22Speaker 3: mode or a just like you on Saturday, or you
- 33:26Speaker 3: can set it into a track mode and it will
- 33:28Speaker 3: keep the battery temperatures at optimum levels for those two tasks.
- 33:32Speaker 3: And even with launch control, you can set what kind
- 33:34Speaker 3: of grip level you have available and that will then
- 33:37Speaker 3: vary how hard it launchers.
- 33:39Speaker 2: See that's some good tech, do you know what I mean?
- 33:41Speaker 1: Like for that sort of car, and you know you
- 33:45Speaker 1: can really deep dive and put some stuff on it.
- 33:47Speaker 2: How did you.
- 33:48Speaker 1: Find the drift function work. How did you find the
- 33:52Speaker 1: effectiveness of it?
- 33:53Speaker 3: Well, we were given the green light to cook a
- 33:55Speaker 3: set of tires, so it was fantastic fun. So I
- 33:59Speaker 3: spent hard an afternoon fucking around with that, and it
- 34:02Speaker 3: was fantastic. It is when you set it to one
- 34:05Speaker 3: hundred percent rear talk split and you switch everything off,
- 34:09Speaker 3: it is all entirely off, whereas with the EV six
- 34:11Speaker 3: GT when you're in drift mode it's not exactly off,
- 34:15Speaker 3: whereas with this it is entirely off. So the biggest
- 34:18Speaker 3: issue they had with that feature was actually limiting the
- 34:21Speaker 3: RPM on the motors, because what happens is once an
- 34:24Speaker 3: electric motor starts, once you lose traction, it will spin
- 34:28Speaker 3: up to twenty thousand rpm immediately and then it will
- 34:31Speaker 3: stay doing that and you can have a lot of
- 34:34Speaker 3: issues with so just as an example, if you do
- 34:38Speaker 3: set it to rewill drive, you get it into a
- 34:40Speaker 3: state where the rear tires have lost traction and it's
- 34:42Speaker 3: spinning at twenty thousand rpm. When you let out of
- 34:44Speaker 3: the throttle, because it's spinning so much, it takes a
- 34:48Speaker 3: while for it to slow down, and it could become
- 34:50Speaker 3: dangerous in the sense that the only way you could
- 34:52Speaker 3: stop the car is by standing on the brakes and
- 34:54Speaker 3: standing on them for like three seconds to slow the
- 34:56Speaker 3: rear wheels. So what they've done is some talk limiting
- 35:00Speaker 3: on the motor when it is in that in that mode,
- 35:03Speaker 3: so it means that when you do unleash on it,
- 35:06Speaker 3: well won't just go straight out. So they've done some
- 35:09Speaker 3: really clever stuff there that a lot of people don't
- 35:11Speaker 3: know is actually happening in the background. So from that
- 35:14Speaker 3: point of view, it's great, great driving position. Unfortunately manual seats,
- 35:19Speaker 3: and the reason they have that is because the electric
- 35:21Speaker 3: seat doesn't sit low enough, so they've gone with a
- 35:23Speaker 3: manual seat to have it sitting lower. Steering feels great,
- 35:26Speaker 3: the breaks are fantastic and it's repeatable as well. We
- 35:29Speaker 3: managed to get like one lap out of the Mustang
- 35:32Speaker 3: MARKEEEGT at the track.
- 35:35Speaker 2: The what do you mean one lap?
- 35:37Speaker 3: It just started degrading, derating performance. It was a hot day,
- 35:42Speaker 3: granted then Model Wide Performance got three laps before the
- 35:46Speaker 3: breaks started cooking I think five in it ended up
- 35:49Speaker 3: doing seven laps continuous without any heat issues with the motor,
- 35:53Speaker 3: the brakes or anything.
- 35:55Speaker 4: Wow.
- 35:56Speaker 3: So yeah, they've got some fantastic tech in there, and
- 36:00Speaker 3: to me, I just think that if you're going to
- 36:02Speaker 3: be buying a performance ev, this is the best of
- 36:04Speaker 3: the bunch. The issue that they've got now, though, is
- 36:08Speaker 3: what Tesla is doing with their pricing. So we mentioned
- 36:10Speaker 3: earlier that Tesla's dropping their prices. I mean, if you
- 36:13Speaker 3: can get a Model Wide Performance for eighty something grand,
- 36:18Speaker 3: that's thirty grand cheaper than an Ironic five Inn. Yeah,
- 36:22Speaker 3: it's not quite the same in terms of performance, So
- 36:25Speaker 3: it's not the same at all.
- 36:26Speaker 2: I think you're looking at two different cars almost to
- 36:28Speaker 2: be honest, but it's yeah grand.
- 36:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I drove a Model Y here. God, that thing
- 36:36Speaker 1: has some creaks and cracks in it. I forgot, like
- 36:38Speaker 1: it'd been a while since I'd driven a Model Y
- 36:40Speaker 1: and I was like, oh, I forgot how firm that was? Yes,
- 36:44Speaker 1: And at the time I was like, maybe it's just
- 36:48Speaker 1: my hemorrhoids playing up, but it was it's really I
- 36:52Speaker 1: was like, my brother in law bought that for like
- 36:56Speaker 1: eighty grand at the time, and I was like, he's
- 37:00Speaker 1: barely driven it.
- 37:01Speaker 2: Barely.
- 37:02Speaker 1: I didn't look at it, but I know he's barely
- 37:05Speaker 1: driven this thing. He would have to have under five
- 37:08Speaker 1: thousand k's on it, and like the like it was
- 37:10Speaker 1: actually doing my head in the creeks and stuff that
- 37:13Speaker 1: I think come from that that roof the fact that
- 37:16Speaker 1: that glass roof must heat plastics or something that surrounds
- 37:20Speaker 1: it and things just kind of snap out of shape.
- 37:23Speaker 2: And but I was like, oh, nah, yeah, nah, a's
- 37:27Speaker 2: your model, while going yeah it's fine, but yeah, same thing.
- 37:31Speaker 3: It's the suspension is overly for is really uncomfortable, not
- 37:35Speaker 3: very nice to drive.
- 37:36Speaker 2: So hopefully they'll fix that.
- 37:38Speaker 1: But that's what I mean, and I think this ionic
- 37:40Speaker 1: five in. I think it's they've got the cred to
- 37:44Speaker 1: put this up with the grates now.
- 37:46Speaker 3: Absolutely, And part of the problem is what I mentioned before,
- 37:50Speaker 3: the review that we did didn't really go that great,
- 37:52Speaker 3: and I had to look globally again, none of the
- 37:54Speaker 3: reviews went too crazy. And if you have a look
- 37:57Speaker 3: at the availability of this car in Australia right now,
- 38:00Speaker 3: you can get anything basically for immediate delivery as in
- 38:03Speaker 3: any color.
- 38:05Speaker 2: Really yeah, so available for immediate delivery.
- 38:08Speaker 3: So I think that tells you that the demand perhaps
- 38:11Speaker 3: isn't there despite it being a fantastic car. So let's
- 38:15Speaker 3: see how it goes once we get this drag racing
- 38:17Speaker 3: series out where we're literally doing everything we've done. The
- 38:21Speaker 3: first video that will go live is the ON five
- 38:23Speaker 3: n up against a six cylinder which was a nine
- 38:26Speaker 3: to eleven GT three, a V eight which was a
- 38:29Speaker 3: G sixty three Brabus with a stage one versus a
- 38:33Speaker 3: V ten which was a hurricane sto versus a V
- 38:35Speaker 3: twelve which was an eight twelve competitory only, and that
- 38:39Speaker 3: was the first video. We then did another six videos
- 38:42Speaker 3: after that, including one which I'm so excited to see.
- 38:46Speaker 3: One of the mechanics that was down there helping us.
- 38:49Speaker 3: He owns an eighteen hundred horsepower HQ that runs on methanol,
- 38:53Speaker 3: so he trucked that down on the last.
- 38:55Speaker 1: We've seen Donald drink some of that stuff. Sure neck
- 38:58Speaker 1: a bottle cookie, that's a cook one.
- 39:02Speaker 2: Hey.
- 39:03Speaker 1: I had the by d C or Performance slightly different
- 39:06Speaker 1: car it has a flirted with.
- 39:08Speaker 2: Before, really enjoyed it, really enjoyed it. I think it's great.
- 39:13Speaker 1: It's such a it's if you compare that to a
- 39:15Speaker 1: Model three, I personally think it's almost it's pretty much
- 39:20Speaker 1: neck and neck. I think I think it's just now
- 39:23Speaker 1: apples and like which one do you prefer? Like, I
- 39:25Speaker 1: think looks wise, I think the Seal is a far
- 39:29Speaker 1: better looking car. I think stats wise, off the top
- 39:34Speaker 1: of my head, I think the Tesla Performance obviously has
- 39:37Speaker 1: some you know, quicker it could be slightly quicker.
- 39:40Speaker 2: This is one hundred in about three point eight seconds.
- 39:44Speaker 1: But the thing with a lot of these performance evs
- 39:47Speaker 1: is great in a straight line, but when it comes
- 39:50Speaker 1: to handling, they're absolute rubbish. This, on the other hand,
- 39:53Speaker 1: is not that this handle's great, like it's such a
- 39:58Speaker 1: well sort of tuned car. It's just it's it almost
- 40:03Speaker 1: feels like it's been tuned for Australian roads.
- 40:05Speaker 2: It drives great, it's.
- 40:07Speaker 1: Got the performance sort of tucked away there. It's not
- 40:09Speaker 1: overly in your face as well. Starling wise, I think
- 40:13Speaker 1: it looks far better than the Model three. I think
- 40:15Speaker 1: the interior actually looks better too. If you told me
- 40:19Speaker 1: like eighteen months ago the BYD interior. You know, remember
- 40:22Speaker 1: when we sat in the Atto three the dumbbells and
- 40:26Speaker 1: the water and the muscles and all that.
- 40:28Speaker 2: Yeah, and they're bringing out the Seal you really.
- 40:32Speaker 1: Soon or actually I don't know if I'm allowed to
- 40:34Speaker 1: say this, but I guess we can call it the
- 40:35Speaker 1: Sea Line six. They're bringing that out, which is the
- 40:38Speaker 1: four wheel drive version of this, which I think looks good.
- 40:40Speaker 2: But I just love this Satan. I love it. It
- 40:43Speaker 2: was such a great commuting car too. Yeah, I think they.
- 40:46Speaker 3: Look fantastic performance wise, it's great fun. This is I mean,
- 40:51Speaker 3: when you do compare this to a Model three performance,
- 40:54Speaker 3: especially the new one. They've just launched very different cars.
- 40:57Speaker 3: This won't. This doesn't have repeatable perform mormans. It sort
- 41:00Speaker 3: of you hit it once and it's there. On handling front,
- 41:04Speaker 3: I think it's good, but it is let down by
- 41:06Speaker 3: some of those electronics. If you really start picking up.
- 41:10Speaker 3: It sort of just struggles a little bit with the
- 41:12Speaker 3: amount of power that it has. But that is all
- 41:14Speaker 3: something that they will eventually get better at when it
- 41:17Speaker 3: comes to tuning and all that sort of stuff. And
- 41:19Speaker 3: for the price just under seventy grand, it is significantly
- 41:23Speaker 3: cheaper than everything else on the market.
- 41:25Speaker 1: So yeah, do you know the one thing the big
- 41:28Speaker 1: thing for me that I was a bit like, oh really,
- 41:31Speaker 1: but I think I've been told it's a software update.
- 41:35Speaker 1: It's not even a fault. It's actually deliberately there. I
- 41:38Speaker 1: left my dog in there and went into buttings and
- 41:41Speaker 1: the fucking thing was like the alarm was going off
- 41:43Speaker 1: left front and center. It's apparently you know that function
- 41:46Speaker 1: if you leave kids in the car, which is annoying too,
- 41:49Speaker 1: because I left Pops in the car when I went
- 41:50Speaker 1: to the casino for.
- 41:51Speaker 2: Five and he went on holidays.
- 41:52Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I left her at the airport only there
- 41:55Speaker 1: for four weeks. It was fine, But yeah, they've got
- 41:57Speaker 1: this alarm that sort of goes off.
- 41:59Speaker 2: Can that not be there?
- 42:01Speaker 3: Well, a lot of modern cars have the ability for
- 42:02Speaker 3: you to switch off the motion sensor insight.
- 42:06Speaker 1: Maybe I'll dig about take a Patty's Market. I'm sure
- 42:10Speaker 1: there's someone who can fix it. So some good stuff, some.
- 42:15Speaker 3: Good cars, exciting stuff. So yeah, we're going to have
- 42:19Speaker 3: to try and make this more regular.
- 42:21Speaker 2: It's been quite.
- 42:22Speaker 1: Busy so yeah, I mean I've I've moved house, moved jobs.
- 42:27Speaker 1: You've been out of the job, shockingly homeless for quite somebody,
- 42:32Speaker 1: which is evident. You disgrace doing hand jobs as well.
- 42:35Speaker 1: You are doing hand jobs. So that's been that's been
- 42:38Speaker 1: your life issues, I guess. But I'm here for you
- 42:43Speaker 1: if you want to talk. That's what all the good
- 42:45Speaker 1: podcasts do now? Is talking about every three months?
- 42:47Speaker 2: Is? But yes, this will get more regular and some.
- 42:53Speaker 1: Exciting stuff on the horizon. You know what, you should
- 42:55Speaker 1: check in with Donna. You should give her a call.
- 42:57Speaker 2: Have you a number? You've saved it in your phone?
- 43:00Speaker 2: That hole in the wall, why don't you Why didn't
- 43:02Speaker 2: you put your phone? Allows on speaker phone?
- 43:05Speaker 3: Let me let me give her a tingle d D
- 43:08Speaker 3: D double D Donna. There she is, see if she answers?
- 43:14Speaker 6: Oh?
- 43:15Speaker 5: Gee, hang on, Darlan, hang on, Donna's killing Ben hang on. Oh,
- 43:33Speaker 5: but don't usually get up till one in the afternoon.
- 43:36Speaker 5: How are you, Dalan?
- 43:37Speaker 2: Good? How are you doing? Love?
- 43:40Speaker 5: You haven't called me angels pabbly have you been?
- 43:44Speaker 2: Yeah? Good? I haven't been out that way for a
- 43:46Speaker 2: little while. Last time kind of left me a little scarred,
- 43:49Speaker 2: so to speak.
- 43:50Speaker 5: You've got a bloody come and visit Donnor in the caravan,
- 43:53Speaker 5: darl And you've got you remember having it there?
- 43:57Speaker 1: It's near the Adelaide Glory And if you get.
- 44:01Speaker 5: A little bit lost, you fucking follow the yellow.
- 44:04Speaker 2: Droupe bro that's will be just in. Have you been
- 44:10Speaker 2: has your n f ha's all that? Yeah? Good. I'd
- 44:16Speaker 2: love for you to meet my mate Gordy.
- 44:17Speaker 3: Sometimes he's sort of, you know, a bit lonely and
- 44:21Speaker 3: stuff like that.
- 44:23Speaker 5: I listened to the podcast and he sounds surprisingly well high.
- 44:29Speaker 6: Basic looking at their bloody n ft is the n
- 44:34Speaker 6: f T, the Sties.
- 44:39Speaker 5: You're a girl, have some psy from fun Randed, Donna
- 44:43Speaker 5: Fight Darlin, Hey, well when he when are you going
- 44:49Speaker 5: to come over?
- 44:49Speaker 2: The when are you gonna come to the garage? Look
- 44:52Speaker 2: a bloody review on Donna Philly Busy this year, I
- 44:59Speaker 2: might have to say, Gordy.
- 45:01Speaker 6: Nah, Darling, I want you perfectly. I want you to
- 45:04Speaker 6: bring you to a roma and you can point to
- 45:06Speaker 6: my cup holder's head. I can do all sorts of
- 45:11Speaker 6: fucking features if I.
- 45:13Speaker 5: Go off like the bloody Yeah, you're batist dollar.
- 45:21Speaker 2: I'm gonna I'm gonna let you go. He sounds like
- 45:23Speaker 2: you're busy.
- 45:24Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, I've got to order him a bloody KOs
- 45:26Speaker 6: say you know, I really Boh God Jesus, when you
- 45:31Speaker 6: come over and we'll bloody have some k.
- 45:33Speaker 2: And saying oh fuck. All this talk about a greasy box.
- 45:38Speaker 2: It reminds me I should have a bloody shell. I
- 45:42Speaker 2: want you to get out of Dallan to get up
- 45:44Speaker 2: and good good to you from.
- 45:47Speaker 4: Your eye dollar.
- 45:49Speaker 2: You never ring me as much as you used to.
- 45:52Speaker 2: I've still got the charging station heat the while on me.
- 45:57Speaker 1: The caravan behind Regel Norman, bloody, kick a can around.
- 46:02Speaker 2: You come, it's Don and Donna. Bye bye, Oh god,
- 46:09Speaker 2: it's good to touch base with her. Yeah, look at
- 46:11Speaker 2: you were pretty quiet during that. I thought you were well.
- 46:14Speaker 2: I thought, well, you have your pants off. You were
- 46:18Speaker 2: bloody half mask. He's bloody. All right, it's our pitching
- 46:22Speaker 2: a tent talking to Yeah, that's.
- 46:28Speaker 1: To catch up with her. So you will have to
- 46:29Speaker 1: catch up with her. I think you need a road trip. Yeah,
- 46:32Speaker 1: take a radio, take a little road trip out there.
- 46:34Speaker 2: What do you mean radio rodeo rodeo?
- 46:36Speaker 1: Oh yeah, take the road, take over and put a
- 46:39Speaker 1: buck over ahead and hang onto the handles.
- 46:45Speaker 3: So contact at the Drivers Show dot com today. You
- 46:48Speaker 3: if anyone who's actually still listening to this, Yeah, let
- 46:53Speaker 3: us know what you want us to delve into chat
- 46:55Speaker 3: about on a serious note, bev passed away.
- 46:59Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, it's it's one of those things. I mean,
- 47:03Speaker 1: we all we knew it was coming, obviously, and it
- 47:08Speaker 1: was the day that I didn't really expect it to
- 47:12Speaker 1: be so soon. But yeah, really sad, and.
- 47:17Speaker 2: I speak for both of us.
- 47:18Speaker 1: She's a fascinating woman, a really kind, caring person, a
- 47:22Speaker 1: great family woman too, and yeah, really sorely missed.
- 47:26Speaker 2: Came into chat with us, though it was pretty unreal.
- 47:28Speaker 2: It was a fair hike as well as Yeah, Warren
- 47:30Speaker 2: die Way, Yeah.
- 47:32Speaker 1: She came out here, Warren die Way. In fact, like
- 47:34Speaker 1: I mean, that's that's the last interview she did. That's
- 47:37Speaker 1: that's I feel sorry for her in that respect because
- 47:40Speaker 1: I thought, well, she could do so much better than us,
- 47:42Speaker 1: and but it was the last interview she did, and
- 47:45Speaker 1: she didn't have to do that at all. Her state
- 47:47Speaker 1: wasn't tip top, and she made the effort to come
- 47:50Speaker 1: out and have a chat, and eternally grateful that she
- 47:55Speaker 1: did and that she also got to tell her story too,
- 47:58Speaker 1: because I think a lot of it is it is
- 48:00Speaker 1: about Peter and obviously the time she spent with Peter perfect,
- 48:04Speaker 1: you know, the great Peter Brock. And I think behind
- 48:07Speaker 1: all that, though, is a is a fascinating woman and
- 48:10Speaker 1: a brilliant, brilliant woman in all ways of life. And
- 48:14Speaker 1: so yeah, I'm proud that she got to tell her
- 48:16Speaker 1: story in her life story out there, and it's it's
- 48:19Speaker 1: sad for her passing and our you know, big love
- 48:22Speaker 1: goes out to all her family and ya, thanks for
- 48:26Speaker 1: thanks for ending the show on such a somber note.
- 48:29Speaker 2: Thanks for that. That's what you do really well, isn't
- 48:31Speaker 2: it just make things awkward? Now we have to Yeah,
- 48:36Speaker 2: I'm going to walk out of.
- 48:37Speaker 1: This room and you'll probably call bloody Donna called Donna again,
- 48:40Speaker 1: just Peter the saime, Yeah, FaceTime scrite.
- 48:45Speaker 2: It'll look like they've seen from a butcher's window by
- 48:47Speaker 2: an hour with Donna that had some dry hanging stage
- 48:55Speaker 2: or are you just happy to see me?
- 48:59Speaker 4: All right?
- 48:59Speaker 1: Well, next time until they started, great, leave a review,
- 49:03Speaker 1: that would be great, and we'll do another merch drops.
- 49:06Speaker 2: Hold on, before we do, we've got to actually quickly
- 49:08Speaker 2: talk about the reviews because someone left one on there
- 49:11Speaker 2: that wasn't very complimential. Oh really, I haven't. I haven't
- 49:14Speaker 2: checked these out. So again it's it's never negative about me.
- 49:20Speaker 2: It's always.
- 49:23Speaker 6: So.
