Transcript
- 0:01[SPEAKER_00]: time for the 49ers rush podcast.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: And here's your host, John Chapman.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_01]: What is going on, faithful?
- 0:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's absolutely incredible to be with you guys today.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_01]: This is an unplanned show.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_01]: So the plan today was to break down more tape.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_01]: I still got one more quarter to fight through the Miami game.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_01]: That was the plan.
- 0:51[SPEAKER_01]: I was going to watch, you know, the Kyle Presser, what I, I slipped my mind.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_01]: And I was about to start another breakdown.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_01]: But you don't get to do that.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_01]: And this 49er season just continues to be like the last eight of nine seasons.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_01]: This is your 10 of Kyle Shanahan.
- 1:10[SPEAKER_01]: And really, you can go back like, we attribute this season to the head coach, right?
- 1:15[SPEAKER_01]: That's the easy marker, but the entries,
- 1:20[SPEAKER_01]: 9 out of 10 years with Kyle Shanand, this is your tin.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_01]: It has a big completed by far one of if not the most injured team in the NFL.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_01]: And that adds that compounds today.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_01]: CJ West, second year player is now on IR.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_01]: So I wanted to detail that.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_01]: There's some roster moves that go about that.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to talk practice reports.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_01]: But the crux of today's episode is roster management.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_01]: You only get so many IR to return spots, and the 49ers are juggling already after just two games.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: You get eight players to return from IR that isn't count the put players, which you have two of those, but kill Williams and Isaac Grinto that he come back.
- 1:58[SPEAKER_01]: So we're going to go through it and try to understand exactly why the 49ers
- 2:06[SPEAKER_01]: are not immediately putting players on IR.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_01]: Players like to mark his Robinson players like James Thompson Jr. for these high equal springs that can last two to three months.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_01]: There's a reason why they're not on their yet and they are scrambling.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_01]: trying to figure that out.
- 2:25[SPEAKER_01]: So that's what we got today.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_01]: Have to say thank you to our executive producers, Cory Robbins, 49ers George, 365 David Gil Williams and Claire, appreciate you guys.
- 2:33[SPEAKER_01]: Look at this, notorious Gav, he said, he was in here first.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_01]: We had a bump at back for Kyle's presser.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_01]: Love it, love it, love it.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_01]: We pushed back.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for all the hashtag CCs.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_01]: Monkey, you don't have to worry about the amount of IR spots left if you don't have any.
- 2:48[SPEAKER_01]: That's right.
- 2:50[SPEAKER_01]: Don't have the budget when you're broke Words to live by monkey.
- 2:56[SPEAKER_01]: I appreciate that it's week three and we are almost out of I are spots that isn't saying like you you it You can maximize the players that you currently have on I are now now that CJ West has been placed on I are that you're eight
- 3:12[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to go through those names.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to prioritize those names on who should return, who should not.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_01]: But if you place one more on IR, you don't get them back, right, right?
- 3:22[SPEAKER_01]: Like,
- 3:23[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe you get that player back that you put on IR, not one of the other players that is currently on I like it's hard work man.
- 3:31[SPEAKER_01]: It's a numbers game your shuffling your shuffling it's the best you could put it right now and so the entry to CJ West and Tory says you know the CJ West injury sounds worrying it's a bone chip in the knee Kyle said it is not a seasoned ender just finished his presser minutes ago.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_01]: will have surgery.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_01]: The hard part for me is this is something that did come up earlier and training camp.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_01]: CJ West did not look great since returning from that.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_01]: The amount of re-injuries, the 49er sustained since Perry and the medical staff at bid here is worse than the NFL.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_01]: The constant re-injuries was this something that they missed and he's just been playing through for two months What's going on there?
- 4:21[SPEAKER_01]: Don't know.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_01]: I've not a tin foil hat wear guide, but like man If it walks like a duck Sounds like a duck.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_01]: That's a that's a duck
- 4:33[SPEAKER_01]: And the 49ers medical staff is just not great with these recurring entries to the same spot.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's just not it's just not so CJ West on IR minimum four games out.
- 4:47[SPEAKER_01]: So he played week one week two he has to meet miss weeks three four five six he can come back week seven.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_01]: sounds like with a knee surgery, probably going to be a little bit longer than that, and it's the stacking of injuries.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_01]: That is the, that's the killer.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_01]: And it's not like CJ West was playing well.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_01]: He wasn't, but he did have some good reps, like, you know, going through the tape and Ben, please.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_01]: If you haven't yet, what are you doing?
- 5:12[SPEAKER_01]: Go to the 49ers rush.com, go to our Patreon page.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_01]: Every office, defense, special team snap broken down.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_01]: And like I was going to do a little quick montage of three to four, just really, really good consistent plays from CJ West because it's like, man, yeah, he's getting run through the gamut on social media because he's really bad against double teams.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_01]: But man, whenever CJ West doesn't get double teams, he makes a lot of very positive plays and he did in week two.
- 5:40[SPEAKER_01]: He did in week one.
- 5:41[SPEAKER_01]: So like, yeah, is he consistent?
- 5:44[SPEAKER_01]: No, is he consistently good?
- 5:46[SPEAKER_01]: No.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_01]: But to say like, oh, he's a bus or whatever else, you know, that I hate that damn word.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_01]: I hate how it gets thrown around so much for a second year player.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_01]: No, like there is so much promise with CJ West.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that this stunts that at all.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_01]: He was starter week two and now he's on IR and he started because the other defensive tackles on IR that was drafted ahead of him.
- 6:12[SPEAKER_01]: If you just keep stacking all of these defensive line entries and wide receiver injuries, James Thompson goes out like Grayson Halton, you know, I said immediately after the game on our post game recap,
- 6:28[SPEAKER_01]: Grayson halted should be starting now there's no choice.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_01]: There's nobody else in the room.
- 6:34[SPEAKER_01]: It is Grayson halted, it's Grayson halted.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_01]: It also did Yizua in the band of misfits.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_01]: And not trying to be like rude or mean to the rest of the players either, but like McKinley Jackson, like, you should number three, you should number three defensive tackle now.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_01]: And the 49ers do make a loss
- 6:59[SPEAKER_01]: He was on the practice while they brought him over from another team, 63313.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_01]: He's got over 1100 snaps in his career.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_01]: He's signed to the 53 man.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_01]: So he's not a practice squad guy to take a player, to poach a player from an opposing practice squad.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_01]: You have to sign them to your 53, which they did.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_01]: So that player, they quant Jones, he's in the rotation, McKinley, Jackson, he's in the rotation.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_01]: Those are your four.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_01]: Now you can promote from within and you can bring up Sebastian Valdez, which
- 7:31[SPEAKER_01]: they just have not trusted to play because the consistency's not there.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_01]: You talk about getting beat by double teams and all that stuff.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_01]: He might be the worst on the roster that you've had.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_01]: Kevin Gibbons is there.
- 7:43[SPEAKER_01]: Now, you bring in Villa Viliami, Fahoko Jr. to the practice squad as well.
- 7:48[SPEAKER_01]: That's another player that was with the Niners for a short stint during the preseason that you could elevate as well.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_01]: You're probably going to want at least five with like six, but five's kind of the number you
- 8:01[SPEAKER_01]: you're scrambling.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_01]: You are scrambling.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_01]: You are shuffling.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's rough.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_01]: It's rough.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_01]: Dempster glad to see you here.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_01]: We can never have good days.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_01]: We can never have nice things.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_01]: It's just there.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_01]: Jacob, I are sponsor not the issue.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_01]: I are with designated to return is a whole different matter.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_01]: Those are limited.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: That is correct.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's so the NFL changed their
- 8:28[SPEAKER_01]: As soon as a player went on IR, if they were designated to return or not, you don't have to do that anymore.
- 8:34[SPEAKER_01]: You two spots you do that when you make your initial 53 man roster, that's it.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_01]: But it's so now you'll hear like, yeah, we put him on IR, he's done for the year.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_01]: Meaning that the calendar, the timeframe just ain't going to work out.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_01]: So like, you don't have to designate to return.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_01]: So this is a little more flexibility.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_01]: Jacob then the old kind of stiff NFL IR roster rules.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_01]: you could put a player on IR, wait, and then choose to, you know, designate them to return.
- 9:04[SPEAKER_01]: The designated two return is just like internally, it's not actual label you have to do after the 53 man roster set.
- 9:12[SPEAKER_01]: So that's a little bit different.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and yeah, these are us.
- 9:17[SPEAKER_01]: We didn't even talk about Brandon Cooks.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_01]: He is now on the practice squad.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_01]: Could be elevated.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_01]: I love bringing in Brandon Cooks.
- 9:25[SPEAKER_01]: Let's just keep adding old vet players that are very log in the tooth.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_01]: I don't mind that because the consistency is there, not a long-term play, but Brandon Cook's stepping in.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's huge.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_01]: He's a vet plug-in play guy.
- 9:40[SPEAKER_01]: It doesn't have a lot of experience in Kyle Shanahan's scheme, but he's played for so many damn teams.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_01]: That's played for a big vay.
- 9:46[SPEAKER_01]: He's played, you know, in similar schemes.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_01]: should not be much of an adjustment.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_01]: He'll have three days.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_01]: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, walk through Saturday.
- 9:56[SPEAKER_01]: Can he be one of the top wide receivers and, you know, push past guys like Caterral Hodge, Jordan walkins.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_01]: That's what's got to happen for them because I mean, you start counting those numbers.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_01]: You want five.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Mike Evans.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Debo Samuel.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Jacob Cowling your punt
- 10:19[SPEAKER_01]: All right, Jordan Walkett's first brand of cooks.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_01]: I know who I'm putting my money on.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_01]: Nobody, walk-ins, no, a couch and a hand even kind of went deeper into that conversation, say, and basically, like, look, man, you put your top three wide receivers, those are your top three, the number four and number five guy have to help elsewhere with special teams.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of times, you go with the better special teamer and that four or five spot.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure to walk into where a special teamer, maybe Isaac Garendo might be worse, like you're talking all time historic badges because he's so scared of contact.
- 10:54[SPEAKER_01]: Jacob Coward is smaller than him.
- 10:56[SPEAKER_01]: He'll get out there and mix it up.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_01]: And ain't about size.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_01]: It's about effort and heart.
- 11:02[SPEAKER_01]: that is just not in Jordan walkings current repertoire of skillsets.
- 11:07[SPEAKER_01]: It's not there.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, I think Brandon Cook's will be on the active.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_01]: I do think Jordan walkings will continue to be a healthy scratch.
- 11:16[SPEAKER_01]: And it's just like, I will constantly be upset because I kept screaming, you know, I went price and easing on this roster over Jordan walkings.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_01]: And you've had how many
- 11:31[SPEAKER_01]: to even get dressed can't even get suited up yeah we'll dive more into branding cooks and all those things right here uh black orchard appreciate you man do you think we'll be able to be healthy at midseason or the end here's the good news if there is good news by this point last year 2020 um 2024 you already had your stalwarts that were injured that's not the case this
- 12:00[SPEAKER_01]: The entry number is huge, the stacking of defensive linemen and wide receivers is huge, but your all pro-proble players currently, knock-on wood, that's the difference, right?
- 12:14[SPEAKER_01]: Last year, Nick Bosa, Fred Warder, like, you go on and on and on and on, like, yeah, it was a lot of guys that you were depending on as your,
- 12:26[SPEAKER_01]: stalwarts as your pillars of your team were already injured.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_01]: That's not the case this year.
- 12:33[SPEAKER_01]: So the replacement level that is needed for a guy like CJ West or Alfred Collins or Sam O or Nate Hobbs or you know whatever big time difference than replacing Nick Bosa Fred Warner.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_01]: We got to see now if this number of injuries continues, then no, and the fact that you have played, you played two games, right, or 17 games.
- 13:03[SPEAKER_01]: So two times, I'm a smart man.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_01]: Basically, one eighth of the season you are finished, one eighth of the season you are finished and you
- 13:20[SPEAKER_01]: Not ideal.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_01]: Eric Crocker, what's up, my man?
- 13:24[SPEAKER_01]: Not ideal.
- 13:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, right here.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_01]: Cow chip, did you put as many as you want on IR?
- 13:28[SPEAKER_01]: Only eight can return.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_01]: So let's do this.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go through the numbers because this is the problem.
- 13:33[SPEAKER_01]: The 49ers organization is having right now.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_01]: This is what they're fighting through, OK?
- 13:39[SPEAKER_01]: You get eight guys that can return from IR.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_01]: Two of those had to be predesignated before the 53 man roster set the initial, right?
- 13:48[SPEAKER_01]: Christian Kirk and Austin Pleasant.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_01]: Michaela Williams, I said, Grindo, they're on Pup, don't count.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_01]: They can come back in any time after week four.
- 13:57[SPEAKER_01]: They can practice now.
- 13:59[SPEAKER_01]: Both are not going to practice now.
- 14:00[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to wait one more week.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_01]: But Michaela Williams, I said, Grindo, can come back any time.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_01]: They will count against the 53.
- 14:05[SPEAKER_01]: But not the eight spots to return.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_01]: I missed that.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_01]: I missed both on that one earlier in the season.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for correct me.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_01]: I love being wrong.
- 14:14[SPEAKER_01]: So your two guys, Christian Kirkawson Pleasant, already determined.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_01]: That means you got six spots left.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_01]: Well, in the current situation, the 49ers are in, you already have six guys on IR that could return.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_01]: They're already there.
- 14:33[SPEAKER_01]: Ah, sorry guys, I'm about to, I've about to sneeze really.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's a bad time to take a break.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_01]: So, I raint.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_01]: those six spots one through six in order of importance.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to go over those right after this.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry.
- 14:51[SPEAKER_01]: I got to take a quick break right after this.
- 14:54[SPEAKER_01]: What through six most important spots to return without even adding more.

- 16:13[SPEAKER_01]: But anything anytime anywhere, and I mean anywhere.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_01]: I bet in California, Texas doesn't matter where you are.
- 16:19[SPEAKER_01]: You can use my bookie.
- 16:21[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
- 16:27[SPEAKER_01]: So here are the six, which
- 16:31[SPEAKER_01]: That's that's the thing like you're you're putting up these numbers.
- 16:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's such a high rate the injuries It's just it's so taxing just on practice and all these different they it's just it's so damn hard It's so damn hard, but here are these six spots that are already on IR
- 16:53[SPEAKER_01]: that I think would be the most important to the least.
- 16:57[SPEAKER_01]: Just Sean Stripley's number one.
- 16:58[SPEAKER_01]: I got a question, you know, does the signing of Brandon Cooks mean just Sean Stripley won't be reactivated.
- 17:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's a 10-week injury after week one.
- 17:07[SPEAKER_01]: You're talking week 11.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_01]: Just Sean Stripley is one of the few guys that is a part of now and the future and is built to be a pillar.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_01]: If you can bring him back, you bring him back period.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't care if it's week 11 12 13 14 15 16 17 18 play us.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_01]: Stripling needs to be in pads needs reps because look at the wide receiver room.
- 17:36[SPEAKER_01]: It's a thin and now there are now and then I should say because Mike Evans is your wide receiver one.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_01]: T-bo's your wide receiver to right now.
- 17:48[SPEAKER_01]: You've got to get these young guys snaps, reps. Stripling was leading the team in wide receiver snaps, week one before his re-endry to his ankle that they let them go back out there with.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that that's you.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_01]: So if Deshawn Stripling is ready at any point, you burn one of those six spots you got left.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_01]: After that, Sam O would be my number two.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_01]: He's just so consistent, he's cheat.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_01]: They gave him the new contract.
- 18:16[SPEAKER_01]: That would be my number two spot.
- 18:17[SPEAKER_01]: But with Michele Williams coming back, that kind of relieves a little bit of the pressure to force Sanmo back.
- 18:24[SPEAKER_01]: Sanmo's your perfect number four and number five defense of in.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_01]: And that's exactly what he will be whenever he is brought back.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_01]: But it's not like, it's funny going from, how do I say this?
- 18:42[SPEAKER_01]: looking at the Sean Strippling who was a must return at any point that you can get them back.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_01]: Like you've got to get that guy back.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_01]: And then you look at, you know, say I'm oh, well, you look at the defense of it.
- 18:56[SPEAKER_01]: Let's count them.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
- 18:58[SPEAKER_01]: Assuming Michele Williams comes back before him.
- 19:00[SPEAKER_01]: Because there's time there.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_01]: You've got Nick Bosa.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_01]: You've got Kiyon White.
- 19:04[SPEAKER_01]: You've got Michele Williams.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_01]: You've got Ramello.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_01]: Hi, who's fighting through an entry of his own.
- 19:09[SPEAKER_01]: But not I are caliber, you know, injury.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_01]: Collead creams have been good.
- 19:15[SPEAKER_01]: Oddbow, Ocaronquos have been good.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_01]: But it's like, OK, well, I'm going to put Sam O'Way ahead of Kaleed Green.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_01]: Way ahead of O'Granquil.
- 19:25[SPEAKER_01]: That's why that would be my number two.
- 19:29[SPEAKER_01]: Again, you only got six.
- 19:30[SPEAKER_01]: So to Sean Stribbling won, Sam O'To next up, I'd go back to CJ West.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_01]: He's another one of those guys that is a now and then player.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_01]: He can help you now.
- 19:41[SPEAKER_01]: It'd be great if he didn't have to go up and get stubble teams.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_01]: But in the 425, the 49ers run as their base,
- 19:49[SPEAKER_01]: the upside long term you've got him for two more years you need that.
- 19:55[SPEAKER_01]: That's my number three right then after that there's a drop off it and so as of now I think that there's three players that you return for my
- 20:19[SPEAKER_01]: Nate Hobbs, you don't need right now.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_01]: Nate Hobbs was 100% healthy.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_01]: He's not being activated right now, even if you could.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_01]: That defense, a back group is awesome.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_01]: It is healthy.
- 20:29[SPEAKER_01]: You've got three safeties.
- 20:30[SPEAKER_01]: You've got five corners.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_01]: You're good.
- 20:32[SPEAKER_01]: So much so, one of the players that was released today was Jacob Robertson off the practice squad who they really like.
- 20:38[SPEAKER_01]: But he was kind of a luxury and the DB room has been awesome.
- 20:42[SPEAKER_01]: So kind of had to sacrifice a secondary player for a defensive line player because the injuries are stacked there.
- 20:49[SPEAKER_01]: Every corner is healthy ahead of them.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_01]: Every safety is healthy ahead of them.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_01]: So Nate Hobbes will not be activated.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_01]: He's my number four priority unless there's probably two injuries ahead of him in the corner room.
- 21:02[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's what it would take to bring Nate Hobbes back.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_01]: Brett, toe.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_01]: very similar.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_01]: Connor Colby's been awesome.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_01]: Connor Colby has been awesome.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_01]: Like we said he would be.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_01]: I told you he's got to win the starting job week one.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_01]: I told you he's got to hold that job down.
- 21:16[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't think he'd be this good.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_01]: It's just two games in.
- 21:20[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see, but he played against the ramps.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_01]: That's a pretty damn good D-line front.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_01]: He played really, really well.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_01]: Brett tooth why would you activate him now if you lost a sinner if jake brindle got entered that be the only reason if a guard went down probably not gonna activate Brett tooth probably not going to you put Carver Willis in there
- 21:41[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you brought in who's the the guard that they really, really like, oh, I'm on the wrong page.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_01]: There we go.
- 21:48[SPEAKER_01]: I should know the Jared Patterson.
- 21:50[SPEAKER_01]: You've got him there.
- 21:51[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you're fine.
- 21:52[SPEAKER_01]: Austin Pleasant's when he comes back, which he's already one of the predetermined spots.
- 21:56[SPEAKER_01]: So Brett, so like, man, it's a Jake Bendo injury, or Brett, so probably not got to be activated at any point this year.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_01]: Any point this year.
- 22:04[SPEAKER_01]: Nick Martin,
- 22:09[SPEAKER_01]: linebackers are stacked and they're killing it.
- 22:13[SPEAKER_01]: You could argue it's the strength of the team.
- 22:15[SPEAKER_01]: Luke Gifford starting to look like himself on special teams, right?
- 22:19[SPEAKER_01]: Garrett Wallows freaking awesome.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_01]: Tate on bathrooms kind of a healthy scratch, whatever, but like, are you going to put Nick Martin ahead of any of those guys?
- 22:27[SPEAKER_01]: Again, very similar to the wide receiver question, Kaoshini, and talked about with with with the roster rules.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_01]: Who are your top three?
- 22:36[SPEAKER_01]: Four and five got to be elite special teamers can Nick Martin be better than Pro Bowl freaking special teamer Luke Gifford.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_01]: No, not a special team.
- 22:45[SPEAKER_01]: He can't not now.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_01]: He hasn't shown that.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_01]: Can he be better than Garrett Wallow?
- 22:50[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe Garrett Wallow is an energy monster.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_01]: So, right now there's three IR spots out of the six left that I'm like you activate those guys when they're healthy.
- 23:01[SPEAKER_01]: Sean Stribling Samo CJ West, period.
- 23:04[SPEAKER_01]: The next three are circumstantial.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_01]: Don't have to if they're healthy.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_01]: Nate Hobbs, Brett Tooth, Nick Martin.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_01]: Break glass in case of emergency type guys.
- 23:16[SPEAKER_01]: But, as of right now, assuming there was no injuries left of the 49er season, which would never happen, not with this team.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_01]: You can bring all six of those guys back, and that would exhaust your six return spots, two, Christian Kirk, awesome pleasants, then those six.
- 23:33[SPEAKER_01]: So any player you put on IR now, moving forward, means one of those guys cannot be, right?
- 23:41[SPEAKER_01]: So let's just say God forbid a starter at any position, I don't even wanna throw a name out there.
- 23:46[SPEAKER_01]: A starter at any position gets entered, you put them on IR.
- 23:49[SPEAKER_01]: That means, Nate Hobbs, Brett Toff, or Nick Martin will not be able to be activated,
- 23:55[SPEAKER_01]: And what if it is a linebacker that goes down, and you need Nick Martin, I can't do it now.
- 24:00[SPEAKER_01]: What if Jake Brindle does go down and you got to bring back pretzels?
- 24:03[SPEAKER_01]: Can't do it now.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_01]: Same day at corner.
- 24:06[SPEAKER_01]: So these questions, you've got to start asking yourself.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_01]: If a player gets injured now and is likely to miss two to four weeks, there's always a spectrum.
- 24:17[SPEAKER_01]: It's never like, oh, three weeks, he'll be back.
- 24:19[SPEAKER_01]: It's two to four weeks.
- 24:21[SPEAKER_01]: It's not four weeks, it's four to six weeks, but these high ankle springs.
- 24:24[SPEAKER_01]: This is the question they're going through.
- 24:26[SPEAKER_01]: With the Marcus Robinson and James Thompson Jr. both high ankle springs, which are four to six, four to seven weeks.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_01]: And an ideal world, you put James Thompson Jr. and to Marcus Robinson on the IR right now get those two extra roster spots, increases practice, increases reps for everybody else.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_01]: Everything runs smoothly.
- 24:47[SPEAKER_01]: You're not worrying about counting reps and practice for your wide receivers.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_01]: Everything's great.
- 24:53[SPEAKER_01]: Man, if they're just gonna miss four weeks, it might be better just to have them as a healthy scratch Jordan Walkins mode.
- 25:01[SPEAKER_01]: Instead of using one of those IR spots, so you're sandbagging the IR spots.
- 25:08[SPEAKER_01]: But you're compromising the reps and practice.
- 25:13[SPEAKER_01]: That might not matter much, but with the team, that is all over 30.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_01]: They are old right here, monkey.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_01]: 49ers Ross or average age has got to hit mid 30s by mid season.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_01]: You got guys like Mike Evans, who doesn't practice on Wednesdays.
- 25:32[SPEAKER_01]: You've got guys like Christian McCaffrey and the vet days to day alone, Nick Bosa, Drake Green Law, Christian McCaffrey, Trent Williams.
- 25:42[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about how short Mike Evans and I practice because of hit.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_01]: Like you are so short on wide receivers.
- 25:52[SPEAKER_01]: And Mike Evans ain't practicing.
- 25:55[SPEAKER_01]: Brennan cooks first day out.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to be taking reps with the ones.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_01]: There's an opportunity cost to these situations and the Niners because of the amount, the quantity of injuries, they're behind it.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_01]: No teaming the NFL is going through this right now, but the 49ers.
- 26:19[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not saying there's not other teams that are injured.
- 26:21[SPEAKER_01]: There are the sheer amount of injuries and stacking at certain positions,
- 26:30[SPEAKER_01]: There are teams that have missed more starters with injuries through two weeks.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, but this magnitude, this, oh, it's unreal.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_01]: David, thank you for the super chat, my friend.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_01]: Stoke to meet you in the rush crew in Dallas.
- 26:46[SPEAKER_01]: Ah, freaking love it.
- 26:47[SPEAKER_01]: You are the man.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_01]: Dallas gonna be a blast.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_01]: That one is selling like hotcakes, which I very thankful for.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_01]: We knew it would be that,
- 26:56[SPEAKER_01]: contingency and Dallas.
- 26:57[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of me's out there.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_01]: I was born and raised Dallas Fort Worth and hated the cowboys.
- 27:02[SPEAKER_01]: There's a lot of us.
- 27:04[SPEAKER_01]: Never knew it's we call them.
- 27:05[SPEAKER_01]: There's tens of us.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_01]: Rest in development.
- 27:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so come join us 49ers rush road trip calm.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to be in Seattle here in a couple weeks Atlanta Dallas, Mexico City and Los Angeles 49ers rush road trip.
- 27:20[SPEAKER_01]: We got a party to day before the game.
- 27:22[SPEAKER_01]: We have a party to day of game premium all inclusive freaking.
- 27:26[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I can't wait, man.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_01]: It's it's going to be such a good time now.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_01]: I do have to say like there are cheaper parties and we are a private organization.
- 27:34[SPEAKER_01]: I have to pay this out of my own pocket and a lot of times we don't make money.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_01]: Australia.
- 27:39[SPEAKER_01]: Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
- 27:57[SPEAKER_01]: parties that happen during the same time as my event.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_01]: I have no problem with that.
- 28:02[SPEAKER_01]: If you are with a 40 diners group having a good time, we win.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_01]: One of us wins.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_01]: We all win.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_01]: I don't believe in the competition narrative.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_01]: I don't buy into that ever.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_01]: Having said that, you know, I've got a couple of emails like man, why are your parties so expensive?
- 28:16[SPEAKER_01]: Well, my whole idea whenever I started this was I wanted
- 28:24[SPEAKER_01]: I've been to tailgates where you pay a fee and you get a cold hot dog in a hot beer.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_01]: That's not what I want.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_01]: Nothing wrong with that.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_01]: And I was with people and I had a wonderful time and I built great memories and relationships.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_01]: That was awesome.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_01]: Not what I wanted to do.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_01]: I want bad ass food and I want premium drinks.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I want.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_01]: And so that's what we're trying to create.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_01]: So understand that if you do want to come party with us,
- 28:55[SPEAKER_01]: And our tell gates are pricey because we are throw a we are freaking open it up a full restaurant service with full on bartenders mixed drinks you name it we got it all so If you want to party with us, I understand we're not for everybody, but kids are free to everything always and that's another thing like I have to pay per head per person the kids I pay for myself because I always want that atmosphere I became a fan whenever I was nine.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_01]: I want to extend that as much as possible.
- 29:23[SPEAKER_01]: I want to extend that as much as possible.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_01]: Cowardship, though, I do believe in this.
- 29:27[SPEAKER_01]: No day three can be a day three pit can be a bust.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I just don't, you know, it's funny like, I hate whenever I go down this rabbit hole, but like,
- 29:37[SPEAKER_01]: which is so quick with the bus things like DJ Joan is a bus by Alfred Collins to Alfred Collins contributed so much more.
- 29:45[SPEAKER_01]: It is first year than DJ Jones in his first two and a half years.
- 29:48[SPEAKER_01]: But everybody looks back on DJ Jones is this Hall of Fame pick.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_01]: He contributed for a year and a half and was elite.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_01]: But now we're deciding on players before they even get to the point where DJ Jones was suited up.
- 29:59[SPEAKER_01]: That dude was Jordan Walkins' healthy scratch for two and a half years.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_01]: Into his career.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, I'm with you as well.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_01]: I'm behind on the chat big time.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry guys, I'm bad for that.
- 30:17[SPEAKER_01]: And it is interesting.
- 30:19[SPEAKER_01]: I do want to talk about,
- 30:25[SPEAKER_01]: because I think he, I'd like the approach of veteran additions at this point in the year.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_01]: Again, you can't really trade, no team is selling, no team is selling at ON2, trust me.
- 30:39[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a fantasy owner, ON2, I'm still buying players, like people have this faith that they can compete even when they can't.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_01]: No team is selling and if you do buy, you have to pay a premium above.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_01]: You've got to wait another month before it's sell season.
- 30:56[SPEAKER_01]: So going and getting a veteran like a brand and cooks that will always be where you need him to be and do what he needs to do.
- 31:03[SPEAKER_01]: That is huge.
- 31:04[SPEAKER_01]: That is what Brock Party needs.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_01]: Brock party will create the explosives Kyle Shanahan will create the explosives and like you know I want to shoot let me see if I can load this real quick because you know I'm doing these film breakdowns
- 31:20[SPEAKER_01]: And I just finished the third quarter, which is up on our Patreon and the 49ers rush, go watch that after this.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_01]: And I will be live with Larry later on today as well.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_01]: So stay tuned for that.
- 31:30[SPEAKER_01]: But you know, I'm going through all of this, you know, tape and whatever else.
- 31:35[SPEAKER_01]: And it's just like, man, there are so many times that Kyle Shanahan is creating explosives on his own.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_01]: Here is a still shot.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_01]: Let me see if in a show.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_01]: This is a still shot on third and four.
- 31:51[SPEAKER_01]: Third and four.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_01]: And for those of you that are just listening, you can't see the screen shot.
- 31:57[SPEAKER_01]: Christian McCaffrey is by himself, nobody's with intending yards.
- 32:01[SPEAKER_01]: It's third and four in the flats, outside the numbers.
- 32:06[SPEAKER_01]: This happened in less than two seconds on third and four.
- 32:08[SPEAKER_01]: Kyle Shanahan is just this mega wizard who Dini, I'll be posting the clips on our Patreon, I'm sorry, on our YouTube and TikTok and Facebook and all that stuff.
- 32:20[SPEAKER_01]: Please go follow the 49ers rush, podcast wherever you are on social media.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_01]: And I'll show you how the clip and how he created it like explosives are built into the offense because you have one of the best offensive play colors in the NFL and caution in explosives also happened because Brock pretty is playing at MVP level albeit through two weeks, but if you put Brock parties entire career arc since 2022 to where he is now, do just creates explosives.
- 32:49[SPEAKER_01]: Those are there.
- 32:50[SPEAKER_01]: I don't need explosive plugins.
- 32:53[SPEAKER_01]: I need consistent guys that will be where they need to be.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_01]: There was a second and 22.
- 32:59[SPEAKER_01]: Second and 22.
- 33:01[SPEAKER_01]: It was after a holding call, I think it was Trent Williams.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_01]: And it was a good call.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_01]: It was a hold.
- 33:05[SPEAKER_01]: CaderoHodge gets five yards of separation on a deep comeback route.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_01]: Brock pretty hits on for 18 yards.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_01]: It was right before that play, actually.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_01]: A second and 22 and he had 18 yards to CaderoHodge.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_01]: Caterral hosh is not nobody's out there buying his jersey.
- 33:20[SPEAKER_01]: If you buy his jersey, it's because you're related to them.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_01]: Are you grew up with him?
- 33:23[SPEAKER_01]: He's awesome.
- 33:24[SPEAKER_01]: Not trying to sell him short, but like you don't need elite playmakers in this offense.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_01]: Branding cooks once was an elite playmaker.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_01]: And the choreo says, you know, he's only a hundred and eighty seven yards from 10,000 receiving your age.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_01]: He's got more yards.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_01]: Then a lot of people do like that are in the Hall of Fame.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_01]: And he always spells his name weird.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's Brandon.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_01]: I always can't find them on my profile database because it's like, man, Brandon cooks.
- 33:58[SPEAKER_01]: Why is anyone pulling up?
- 33:59[SPEAKER_01]: Why is anyone pulling up?
- 34:01[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, he's all the way.
- 34:03[SPEAKER_01]: He has 900 or 9,800 and 11 yards, right?
- 34:08[SPEAKER_01]: That's Brandon cooks.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_01]: Listen to the names.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_01]: Brandon cooks has more yards than these players.
- 34:15[SPEAKER_01]: That's Rob Grigkowski, Emmanuel Sanders, Hermann Moore, that Vincent Jackson, Harold Carmichael, Fred Blittnikoff, Mark Clayton, Tyler Lockett, the fainting goat, Ricky Prohl, Mark Duper, Terry Glent, Mark Carrier, Joe Horn, John Stahlworth, good gosh.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_01]: Like the names of these guys, Jordi Nelson.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_01]: This guy has done it for a very, very long time.
- 34:46[SPEAKER_01]: You look at just, he played for the Saints for four years.
- 34:50[SPEAKER_01]: This is not chronological order.
- 34:52[SPEAKER_01]: Saints for four years, Houston three years, Rams two years, Dallas two years, one year New England, one year Buffalo.
- 34:59[SPEAKER_01]: He's played in these schemes.
- 35:01[SPEAKER_01]: Now, the question could be like, well, what did he do last year?
- 35:05[SPEAKER_01]: Well, he played in 15 games last year, started five, had 24 receptions for 279 yards and no touchdowns.
- 35:13[SPEAKER_01]: If you tell me he's going to play in five games for the 49ers and get twenty five twenty four receptions.
- 35:19[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not like overly psyched about that, but can he be a serviceable number four wide receiver for the 49ers that can go out there and convert second and seven.
- 35:31[SPEAKER_01]: I think that he can do that.
- 35:33[SPEAKER_01]: I really, really do, and you look at like his yards per target, you know, he was on Buffalo and the same slash year, 7.8 yards per target last year, that second out of the last five years for him.
- 35:45[SPEAKER_01]: And you look his catch rate, 66.7, dude, Debo, a kill for that.
- 35:50[SPEAKER_01]: Like he's a guy that creates space, has great hands.
- 35:53[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to see the arrows.
- 35:55[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to see it.
- 35:56[SPEAKER_01]: He had
- 36:01[SPEAKER_01]: It's not like, yeah, he's old.
- 36:02[SPEAKER_01]: He's 33, which is on pace for the 49ers.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_01]: But he was at a guy that always won with speed.
- 36:11[SPEAKER_01]: He's a route technician with good hands.
- 36:13[SPEAKER_01]: They can play all three wide receiver spots, can fit in any offensive scheme.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_01]: That's it.
- 36:19[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you're not kidding a pro-bullar.
- 36:23[SPEAKER_01]: You are getting a service-suppled number four wide receiver.
- 36:27[SPEAKER_01]: That is what you want.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_01]: Teens are gonna game play in for Brandon Cooks.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_01]: You don't have to do that.
- 36:35[SPEAKER_01]: You just need them to go out there and freaking stay it is, just stay in his lane and help Cauchy and Brock Pertty.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_01]: That's it.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_01]: Jay Dog says, John, I'm staying at Grand Perry.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'll be all right.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, man, you go be all right.
- 36:48[SPEAKER_01]: Grand Perry's got a couple of rough spots, but shout out to the go first.
- 36:53[SPEAKER_01]: One of my favorite high school stadiums, warrior bulls a good time.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, you go be all right.
- 36:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, you come up for boss and you be okay.
- 37:00[SPEAKER_01]: There's some shady apartments over there, but uh, Grand Perry bad.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks, man, really appreciate you, buddy.
- 37:07[SPEAKER_01]: I hope everybody makes it out.
- 37:08[SPEAKER_01]: Come say what's up.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_01]: Now, walkins, there's no faith.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_01]: There's no, I don't understand why he made the initial 53.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't get that over other players.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_01]: I really, really don't.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_01]: And if the 49ers could trade, Jordan Walkins for price and he's right now, they would do it and throw in probably a six round pick.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_01]: They were wrong.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_01]: but you didn't know that wide receivers and defensive tackles were going to have that many injuries, but that's the problem.
- 37:41[SPEAKER_03]: The wide receivers have had all these injuries and Jordan Walk can still can't even dress.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_01]: That is an indictment on the evaluation.
- 37:49[SPEAKER_01]: Now, with Kyle Shanahan's explanation of how he did to determine the roster rotation.
- 37:57[SPEAKER_01]: You got to be a top three guy, top three wide receivers make it.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_01]: The four and five guy have to be elite special teams.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_01]: Walkens is never going to be an elite special team or ever.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_01]: He just cannot.
- 38:07[SPEAKER_01]: It's not in the mold.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_01]: But Kyle does believe Jordan Walkens could be a top three wide receiver.
- 38:16[SPEAKER_01]: If he doesn't hit that now, I don't know what opportunity he will ever have in the future to do that.
- 38:21[SPEAKER_01]: Now, the other side of this is Kyle says in relation to Sebastian Valdez, he's like, most practice squad guys we keep because they help give us looks.
- 38:33[SPEAKER_01]: Jordan Walker is going to give you really good looks in practice, running routes, your DBs.
- 38:38[SPEAKER_01]: He's a practice squad scout team guy because he can run.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_01]: He can run routes.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_01]: That's all they could do.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_01]: So, Jordan Walkins might just be one of those guys that, hey, you make our defensive backs play better because you give them such a good look and practice.
- 38:55[SPEAKER_01]: That might be all he is.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, Devster, I don't like the bus that either I sure as hell would have cut him a long time ago, a long time ago.
- 39:09[SPEAKER_01]: T-G-T-G-T-G-14 says, Cooks has been cooked since 2022, but not a bad pick-up all things considered.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_01]: Anything is better than walk-ins to Kadero Hodge was awesome, blocking awesome, special teams awesome, even had a couple big catches, you know, on one of George Kiddles' huge place that was like 40 yards, it was because of Kadero Hodge.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_01]: They double team Kadero Hodge and freakin George Kittle went Scott free like like it's funny Why are you double teaming Kadero Hodge and leaving George Kittle open?
- 39:42[SPEAKER_01]: It was a blitz play that at bus and coverage, but yeah, Kadero Hodge drew a double team and you get a 40 yard play from George Kittle If you could do those types of things Jacob Cowen can do that
- 39:55[SPEAKER_01]: Carol Hodge could do that and contribute on special teams.
- 39:59[SPEAKER_01]: Check out how we can do that.
- 40:00[SPEAKER_01]: Carol Hodge could do that.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_01]: That's huge.
- 40:02[SPEAKER_01]: So for cooks, can he contribute on special teams?
- 40:06[SPEAKER_01]: I wonder, let's go check this out.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_01]: Let's head over to, I want to look at Brandon Cooks and see the last time he played special teams.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_01]: If he has played special teams,
- 40:22[SPEAKER_01]: at any point.
- 40:23[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see here.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to offense, boom, boom, boom, boom.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go to special teams.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_01]: It's not even in the chart.
- 40:31[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't think that he has ever played special teams.
- 40:37[SPEAKER_01]: I a kick returner.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_01]: He's done a couple of times, but that's pretty much it.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_01]: So like, are you you tell a pretty cook, dude?
- 40:45[SPEAKER_01]: You got to be a number three
- 40:52[SPEAKER_02]: me in.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_01]: Right here from ill o m g. Hey, John, what teams, players, you iron that could be ready to sell at the deadline.
- 41:00[SPEAKER_01]: You got to look at teams that are, you know, not necessarily o into o into helps.
- 41:07[SPEAKER_01]: The falcons are the number one team.
- 41:09[SPEAKER_01]: The falcons are like,
- 41:12[SPEAKER_01]: That is just an absolute dumpster fire.
- 41:15[SPEAKER_01]: Now they just hired their head coach.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_01]: They're probably going to keep it.
- 41:18[SPEAKER_01]: They are switched to the quarterback over Michael Pinnock's junior.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_01]: But if Michael Pinnock's junior isn't awesome, that team's going to be selling off everything.
- 41:28[SPEAKER_01]: So the Falcons are the one that I'm watching.
- 41:30[SPEAKER_01]: Now the problem with that is in owners, in general managers.
- 41:34[SPEAKER_01]: They are spicy.
- 41:35[SPEAKER_01]: And so the fact that they fired,
- 41:38[SPEAKER_01]: Reheem Morris and now he's with us does make it more difficult to trade that yeah like I wish.
- 41:45[SPEAKER_01]: Organizations didn't ask like petty middle school or sometimes, but they do a lot of times look at the Raiders.
- 41:52[SPEAKER_01]: It's just what it that's just the way it is, but the falcons are one of the teams I'm watching.
- 41:57[SPEAKER_01]: Tampa Bay is one of the teams I'm watching.
- 41:59[SPEAKER_01]: Washington is just the man they could fire.
- 42:01[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody there, like literally, I think everybody could be fired there out on Peters.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_01]: How long ago were we when everybody was like, Oh, how long Peters?
- 42:10[SPEAKER_01]: We should have kept him and fired blah blah blah blah blah.
- 42:14[SPEAKER_01]: that one is about as bad as could go.
- 42:16[SPEAKER_01]: The giants who just lost their quarterback for the year, they got James Winston.
- 42:22[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know with hardball can they keep that together.
- 42:25[SPEAKER_01]: Those are just the AFC teams, the chargers.
- 42:28[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think they're going to be in cell mode.
- 42:30[SPEAKER_01]: I think that even if they're
- 42:35[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, we're gonna keep fighting.
- 42:36[SPEAKER_01]: We're not giving up blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, Tennessee.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_01]: They look good against Philly, but if they keep stacking losses, man, I just, I don't know, Indianapolis, everybody could be fired.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_01]: And Miami, what do they have to offer?
- 42:50[SPEAKER_01]: I take Zeeke Bigger's in the second, they were, that's the one team that is in cell mode, probably the dolphins, they just already sold everything.
- 43:00[SPEAKER_01]: You missed out on the fire cell.
- 43:01[SPEAKER_01]: Ha ha ha ha ha, yeah.
- 43:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's EG, yeah.
- 43:05[SPEAKER_01]: I have not forgot about Will Poly and Wesley Grimes.
- 43:09[SPEAKER_01]: I just think they want to trust Vets.
- 43:12[SPEAKER_01]: I think they want consistent.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_01]: I think Will Poly and Wesley Grimes are products of the future.
- 43:17[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that they are guys that they want to call up now.
- 43:21[SPEAKER_01]: I just don't see it.
- 43:23[SPEAKER_01]: And even with all these defensive tackles, entries, I don't see Sebastian Valdez either.
- 43:28[SPEAKER_01]: Get Kyle Shenan said, some guys are there because they're eventually gonna be good players and help our team out on the field.
- 43:36[SPEAKER_01]: Other guys are there because they give our practice squad or squad team, scout team, a good look.
- 43:46[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's what Sebastian Valdez is.
- 43:48[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's what Jordan Walkens is with a possible wide receiver three upside.
- 43:55[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I love Wesley Grimes.
- 43:57[SPEAKER_01]: I love Wesley Grimes.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_01]: Dude's awesome, dude's awesome.
- 44:02[SPEAKER_01]: Dale, thank you so much for the super chat.
- 44:03[SPEAKER_01]: My friend, John Colts, for 0 and 3, they fire sale, key and buck come home.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_01]: I would love that.
- 44:11[SPEAKER_01]: I would absolutely love both those names coming home.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_01]: And man, if you just look at the roster, I'm not looking at their contracts.
- 44:20[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to pull up the Indianapolis Colts.
- 44:23[SPEAKER_01]: I would argue the worst general manager in the NFL should have been fired long time ago.
- 44:27[SPEAKER_01]: Came in that Chris Ballard came in the same time as Kyle Shanahan.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_01]: They have one playoff when zero division wins.
- 44:34[SPEAKER_01]: Players, I would take from the Colts.
- 44:39[SPEAKER_01]: I'd take Josh Dowd's.
- 44:41[SPEAKER_01]: I would take Quinn and Nelson for sure.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_01]: Their center is not too great.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_01]: Gone cows, I'd take right guard.
- 44:50[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want any of their other wide receivers.
- 44:52[SPEAKER_01]: Don't want charge various word.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_01]: Sauce Gardener, that's hilarious.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_01]: Nope.
- 44:58[SPEAKER_01]: Art and key I take for sure.
- 45:00[SPEAKER_01]: Buckner, I take for sure.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_01]: Cameron, law two, I take for sure.
- 45:04[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that they would sell him.
- 45:06[SPEAKER_01]: AJ Hall see the safety.
- 45:09[SPEAKER_01]: You don't really need a safety.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_01]: So you don't need a linebacker, but like there are guys that like, yeah.
- 45:15[SPEAKER_01]: I'm, I'm in and to force Buckner would be the top of the list, quit Nelson would be awesome, but man, Connor Colby's playing great.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_01]: You do not need to replace Connor Colby as he is good as quit Nelson is no, but Connor Colby is a seventh round pick for the next three years.
- 45:30[SPEAKER_01]: If you told me Connor Colby plays the way he did week one and week two for the next three years, dude, I am not trading for Quentin Nelson.
- 45:37[SPEAKER_01]: You are getting pennies on the dollar and the 49ers have proven that they want to save money at any position.
- 45:45[SPEAKER_01]: It's the Jake Brindle plan, pay for what you get.
- 45:48[SPEAKER_01]: And if you get more, awesome, awesome.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, not going anywhere with that one.
- 45:56[SPEAKER_01]: Faithful from birth, the man.
- 46:00[SPEAKER_01]: Jump on, see more entries, completely unfaced.
- 46:03[SPEAKER_01]: Yep, I'm a nine or fan.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I had the little alert on my phone and I see it just kind of go off and I'm just like CJ West on IR and I'm just like, yep, like that's where we're at.
- 46:18[SPEAKER_01]: this is not the first second third fourth fifth six seventh eight nine ten time that we go through this unexpected player on IR all the sudden and shoulder shrug all right must be Wednesday must be Wednesday must be Wednesday uh... and then i'm issue adam chef to just put out Brian burns uh... seven major ankle injury is going to miss a bunch of time like
- 46:40[SPEAKER_01]: Just lost their quarterback, just lost their best defense of player, like teams are struggling, it's not just the Niners, and the good news is the Niners are too in O.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_01]: And the other good news is the Niners have the injuries are not major studs that the seasons depended upon.
- 47:03[SPEAKER_01]: It's a bunch of role players.
- 47:05[SPEAKER_01]: Those keep stacking up that hurts.
- 47:08[SPEAKER_01]: but as of right now, 49 are still perfect place where they need to be Gabriel, what's up, Beth?
- 47:15[SPEAKER_01]: The NFL is a joke with these rules.
- 47:17[SPEAKER_01]: It's a physical game where the rate of entries 100% the league is going to eventually get watered down with all these injuries.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_01]: I agree, I'm not for softening.
- 47:27[SPEAKER_01]: You need fewer games, 17 games is a joke, three preseason games is a joke, should be two preseason games.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_01]: And probably a 14 game season, but you know, more games more money is just what it is and they're going to keep it to be 18 games before we know it.
- 47:44[SPEAKER_01]: I don't understand why there has to be limits on this IR to return.
- 47:50[SPEAKER_01]: I don't get that and I wish teams could just stay at 91 man rosters.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_01]: Like what is hurt, who is hurt by that?
- 47:58[SPEAKER_01]: keep that roster stock so that you could have guys step in.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I would say.
- 48:03[SPEAKER_01]: The owners don't want that because then they got to pay, you know, those roster spots 70 through 90, but it puts a better product on the field and those guys ain't making much money anyway.
- 48:14[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, that's that's there for sure.
- 48:16[SPEAKER_01]: I and I understand that.
- 48:18[SPEAKER_01]: I really really do.
- 48:20[SPEAKER_01]: But it is frustrating.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_01]: It is frustrating.
- 48:22[SPEAKER_01]: Now I will say this today.
- 48:24[SPEAKER_01]: The whole plan today has just been film breakdowns and do that third quarter.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_01]: Like if you can only watch one quarter of the the previous game coaches.
- 48:34[SPEAKER_01]: Stay watch the third quarter.
- 48:36[SPEAKER_01]: three consecutive touchdown drives.
- 48:39[SPEAKER_01]: You see the offense, just operate flawlessly.
- 48:42[SPEAKER_01]: You see the defense with three consecutive three and outs.
- 48:45[SPEAKER_01]: You see special teams go all out shout out to that Bradley pinion drop.
- 48:48[SPEAKER_01]: But like if you can only watch, I know a lot of people are like, dude, I just don't have time to watch everything.
- 48:52[SPEAKER_01]: Well, that's okay.
- 48:52[SPEAKER_01]: We watch it for you.
- 48:53[SPEAKER_01]: And I'll tell you, maybe I got to start doing this on shows where it's like, dude, if you're time constraint, just watch one quarter, that quarter you got to watch this week.
- 49:02[SPEAKER_04]: I paint until I really see the tape, but you got to see the tape to really see what it looks like.
- 49:07[SPEAKER_03]: But then I'll see it close from the film.
- 49:09[SPEAKER_03]: The things that we saw on tape, the things that we require.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_04]: I hope you look the same on tape.
- 49:14[SPEAKER_02]: Get better from the tape.
- 49:15[SPEAKER_02]: I hope you're hoping that some good film on those guys.
- 49:17[SPEAKER_02]: We'll get to those things we got on the plane.
- 49:19[SPEAKER_01]: If the 49ers coaches and players have to watch the tape, what do you think you need to do?
- 49:24[SPEAKER_01]: Well, guess what?
- 49:24[SPEAKER_01]: We got the tape.
- 49:26[SPEAKER_01]: The 49ers rush.com and our Patreon channel, patreon.com slash 49ers rush.

- 49:58[SPEAKER_01]: If you want to be a better fan You want to understand football better guess what the 49ers rush.com is the place to go
- 50:07[SPEAKER_01]: All right, um, I like this question right here, a comment from Cole, Cole Manator 2016.
- 50:13[SPEAKER_01]: John, I'm taking my son to his first game next month.
- 50:16[SPEAKER_01]: When is the earliest we can get into the stadium and what's the probability of getting an autograph?
- 50:21[SPEAKER_01]: If you got a kid, oh, that helps always.
- 50:24[SPEAKER_01]: Um, a lot of times like parking lots usually open Santa Clara's the worst, but like, you know, a lot of times you can get into stadiums two hours before they kick off sometimes 90 minutes.
- 50:36[SPEAKER_01]: So you could just type in whatever stadium you're going to, um, they'll have kind of their timeline of when the parking lots open, when the stadium opens, all those different things.
- 50:47[SPEAKER_01]: You've got to figure out where the players come in and out of the, uh, the locker room.
- 50:52[SPEAKER_01]: and you go down there and you just got to keep trying to get down there.
- 50:54[SPEAKER_01]: Once you're down there, you're down there, you've got to have your Sharpie, and you've got to have what it is you want autographed.
- 50:59[SPEAKER_01]: And you just got to stay there.
- 51:01[SPEAKER_01]: until they tell you to leave then you go to the game you'll have a better chance getting autographs after the game.
- 51:06[SPEAKER_01]: But you just got to fight through it, man.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_01]: Um, it's just what it is.
- 51:11[SPEAKER_01]: And so in the even if you don't do that, and let's say you do it before the game, you do it after the game.
- 51:15[SPEAKER_01]: You still don't get autographs.
- 51:17[SPEAKER_01]: You can go wait where they meet the players afterwards, which is a little research for the stadiums.
- 51:21[SPEAKER_01]: You'll figure out what that is.
- 51:23[SPEAKER_01]: And then a lot of times where the players get on their buses, they'll come sign a couple of autographs as well, especially for the kiddos.
- 51:29[SPEAKER_01]: My biggest issue is when grown adults are pushing kids out of the way for autographs.
- 51:36[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I get autographs more than anybody.
- 51:38[SPEAKER_01]: We give away autographs nonstop at our events, but like, come on, man, it's all for the kids.
- 51:44[SPEAKER_01]: You ain't fighting for the kids that I just don't understand
- 51:49[SPEAKER_01]: David, my man, my cowboy's fan.
- 51:51[SPEAKER_01]: He says, see my tape run in the 50 yard dash and dug a bit of high school for we would eat lunch together and we would always put David Walner and my friend Chris Doug Dell against each other.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_01]: And it was during the combine and I think Doug Dell made fun of somebody for run in a slow combine.
- 52:07[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, we got David, well, David to run against Chris.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_01]: I think while you pull your hamstring, you've lost that, but it was just like the funniest thing ever.
- 52:19[SPEAKER_01]: I won't throw ages in it, but definitely not combine worthy tape.
- 52:24[SPEAKER_01]: You can out there, run it.
- 52:25[SPEAKER_01]: I always say like soft tissue hamstring and calf strains, like our preventable yet I strain my calf all the time.
- 52:31[SPEAKER_01]: I've straighted like 13 times.
- 52:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's a chronic issue.
- 52:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's what it is.
- 52:38[SPEAKER_01]: It's what it is.
- 52:40[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, it's what do with that.
- 52:42[SPEAKER_01]: What you will.
- 52:42[SPEAKER_01]: So we will be live later today.
- 52:45[SPEAKER_01]: Me and Larry will be on around 715.
- 52:47[SPEAKER_01]: He's got a busy schedule.
- 52:48[SPEAKER_01]: We'll be on there.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to wrap up this show.
- 52:50[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to go break down the fourth quarter.
- 52:52[SPEAKER_01]: Get that uploaded.
- 52:53[SPEAKER_01]: Hopefully by this evening tomorrow.
- 52:55[SPEAKER_01]: We got the coach approach Friday.
- 52:58[SPEAKER_01]: We got our scouting report preview, prediction and bets.
- 53:01[SPEAKER_01]: And we will be live after the game on Saturday.
- 53:04[SPEAKER_01]: Nice little extra stream.
- 53:07[SPEAKER_01]: thrown in here and if you missed the beginning C.J.
- 53:09[SPEAKER_01]: West on IR now, the 49ers have signed defensive tackle, Naquan Jones to the 53 man roster, the brand of cooks signing to the 53 man or to the practice squad, that took place and they also signed defensive linemen, Viliami, Feyhoko, Jr. to the practice squad as well.
- 53:26[SPEAKER_01]: So that's where we're at.
- 53:28[SPEAKER_01]: injuries just keep coming just they keep coming don't expect them to stop just hope they don't happen to core players hope nobody gets injured that's what you want but that's going to do it for us today will be back later tonight for the john and Larry show and until next time appreciate everybody and as always stay strong faithful
