- 0:00There is a strong human potential movement, that
- 0:03counsels mindfulness, by living in the present and not worrying
- 0:08about or identifying with the past and not imagining, or
- 0:13creating images about the future, in one's mind.
- 0:15This movement has an underlying truth associated with it, as
- 0:21dwelling on either the past or the future without focus on the
- 0:25present. Can indeed be both unhealthy and
- 0:30Active and IT addresses in a very direct way.
- 0:34The issue of always hurrying forward to achieve, a result to
- 0:38reach a destination rather than participating fully, and with
- 0:43attention in the process, the journey, the day-to-day life one
- 0:48is leading When one is engaged with achieving a specific
- 0:53result, anything that delays the process, any obstacle, setback?
- 1:00Or even a sequential series of steps requires when to fight and
- 1:05rail against whatever is holding up one's result.
- 1:08Of course, when once an individual achieves an objective
- 1:12with this mindset, he generally finds out that somehow the
- 1:17Fulfillment has escaped. And he must move toward another
- 1:21goal or object and thus can never rest Johann, Goethe
- 1:28captured, this Restless attitude, in his famous
- 1:31rendering of Faust who is never satisfied with anything he
- 1:35achieved and it even famously held.
- 1:40If ever to the moment do I say? I Linger on Thou Art.
- 1:43So fair, then he would consider himself doomed, As long as we
- 1:50live in the ego personality and the surface Consciousness, there
- 1:55can be no real solution to this constant drive forward without
- 1:58satisfaction or solution. It is only when we shift the
- 2:03standpoint to the Eternal Consciousness that has nothing
- 2:08to achieve, nothing to prove Nothing to accomplish other than
- 2:15carrying out its systematic manifestation through time and
- 2:18space. That we can be at peace while
- 2:23simultaneously acting with the full power of the Divine, and
- 2:27it's effortless effort. The mother writes quote.
- 2:33We I mean men live harassed lives.
- 2:38It is a kind of half awareness of the shortness of their lives.
- 2:43They do not think of it, but they feel it.
- 2:46Half consciously and so they are always wanting quick quick quick
- 2:52to Rush from one thing to another to do one thing quickly
- 2:57and move on to the next one instead of letting Thing live
- 3:01and its own eternity. They are always wanting forward
- 3:06forward forward and the work is spoiled That is why some people
- 3:12have preached. The only moment that matters is
- 3:15the present moment in practice, it is not true, but from the
- 3:20psychological point of view, it ought to be true.
- 3:24That is to say to live to the utmost of one's capacities at
- 3:28every minute without planning or wanting waiting or preparing.
- 3:33For the next, because you are always hurrying, hurrying,
- 3:37hurrying and nothing. You do is good.
- 3:41You were in a complete state of inner tension, which is
- 3:43completely false, completely false.
- 3:48All those who have tried to be wise, have always said it, the
- 3:52Chinese preached it the Indians preached it to live in the
- 3:56awareness of Eternity in Europe. Also they said that one should
- 4:01contemplate the sky and the stars and identify oneself with
- 4:06their infinitude. All things that widen you and
- 4:11give you peace. These are means but they are
- 4:15indispensable. And I have observed this in the
- 4:18cells of the body. They always seem to be in a
- 4:21hurry to do. What they have to do less, they
- 4:24have no time to do it, so they do nothing properly.
- 4:30Muddled people, some people turn everything upside down, their
- 4:34movements are jerky and Confused.
- 4:37Have this to a high degree. This kind of haste quick, quick,
- 4:41quick, Yesterday someone was complaining of rheumatic pains
- 4:46and he was saying oh it is such a waste of time.
- 4:49I do think so slowly. I said mother Smiles so what he
- 4:56didn't like it you see For someone to complain, when he is
- 5:01in pain, means that he is soft. That's all.
- 5:04But to say, I am wasting so much time.
- 5:07I do think so slowly. It gave a very clear picture of
- 5:11the haste in which men live You go hurtling through life to go.
- 5:17Where? you end with the crash and quote
