- 1:55Cassandra Crawley Mayo: And so we have our special guest today by the name of Yane Sneed, and I'd like to welcome Yane to the stage.
- 2:04Cassandra Crawley Mayo: How are you, yane?
- 2:05Cassandra Crawley Mayo: I'm doing very well.
- 2:07Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Thank you for having me.
- 2:08Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Yeah, I'm glad you're here and I love the topic that we're going to talk about the power of resilience through relentlessness.
- 2:17Cassandra Crawley Mayo: That's a lot of R's and can get twisted up, but we know what resilient is and keep it moving.
- 2:24Cassandra Crawley Mayo: And relentless not letting go.
- 2:26Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Keep it going.
- 2:28Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Before I start my new listeners, I read the bio of my guest so that you'll get a little tidbit of what she's all about before we delve into the questions.
- 2:43Cassandra Crawley Mayo: So Yane has faced numerous trials, each offering valuable lessons for her growth.
- 2:51Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Her journey, marked by challenges, is a testament to resilience and strength.
- 2:58Cassandra Crawley Mayo: She refuses to let experiences define her, always seeking the silver lining in every hardship.
- 3:05Cassandra Crawley Mayo: In 2022, she established Relentless Phoenix, an author manifest, your canvas, sharing insight on overcoming adversity.
- 3:15Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Her mission is to guide individuals through adversities to unlock their full potential.
- 3:22Cassandra Crawley Mayo: We definitely want to hear about that right listeners.
- 3:25Cassandra Crawley Mayo: She's guiding individuals through adversities to unlock their full potential Wow.
- 3:33Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Well.
- 3:34Cassandra Crawley Mayo: So, yane, before we really start delving in, I want you to share some specific aspects of your backstory that empowered you to start this work.
- 3:48Yanee Sneed: Yeah, so I had a troubled childhood.
- 3:52Yanee Sneed: I didn't really have a lot of support growing up and I was emotionally and mentally abused in my family dynamics.
- 3:59Yanee Sneed: I was also sexually abused as well by my dad, who I call a sperm donor.
- 4:06Yanee Sneed: Throughout my childhood I really lost my identity or sense of purpose and it wasn't until I started getting to college where I started finding my belonging.
- 4:16Yanee Sneed: I started doing mentorship and really helping other individuals with their life diversity.
- 4:22Yanee Sneed: So I started finding my purpose during that moment and really finding where I belong and the balance within my pain and my struggles and helping others.
- 4:31Yanee Sneed: I was using that to motivate myself and help them overcome their struggles.
- 4:37Yanee Sneed: And in college I did social work and I didn't feel like I was getting given back in social work, nor was I really.
- 4:47Yanee Sneed: I was struggling a lot in college, but I did manage to get a degree in social work and overcome those adversities with believing that I can overcome.
- 4:55Yanee Sneed: And then I had children.
- 4:58Yanee Sneed: After my second child during my time I had my second child in 2022, I started a business called Witness Phoenix as a life coach because I wanted to use more of my background, my life experiences, to continue helping others and also, like my bio said Bright, manifest your Canvas, which is talking about the ways in which I use motion, resilience, mental clarity, empowerment in my daily life to help others as well.
- 5:26Yanee Sneed: So it's been a full circle journey of using my story to help others overcome their challenges, right so it sounds like you are an entrepreneur, solo entrepreneur now, yes, so are you doing social work?
- 5:43Yanee Sneed: I am using my social work degree for my life coaching business, so not much social work one-on-one with a client more than I am doing with my life coaching.
- 5:54Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Okay, okay.
- 5:55Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Now, what is it about you?
- 5:57Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Based on your background, your backstory, whereas individuals there's some individuals that have very similar instances or circumstances as you do, as you did, and they're having trouble.
- 6:14Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Some of my listeners are having trouble getting out of it.
- 6:17Cassandra Crawley Mayo: They're stuck with it.
- 6:19Cassandra Crawley Mayo: You know they're still in their past.
- 6:22Cassandra Crawley Mayo: What did you do, or what is it about you that had you to pivot and say, hey, I'm going to do this thing.
- 6:32Cassandra Crawley Mayo: I understand what happened to my past and I'm not going to let that define me.
- 6:35Cassandra Crawley Mayo: So what happened?
- 6:39Yanee Sneed: So I just want to say that I get a little.
- 6:44Yanee Sneed: I get.
- 6:44Yanee Sneed: I get shy when I say something about you, because I feel like everyone can do what I can do if they really put their minds to it.
- 6:50Yanee Sneed: I just want to make sure that I'm not a exception to the rule.
- 6:53Yanee Sneed: I am the rule.
- 6:54Yanee Sneed: I can do what you can too and I want to help with those skills.
- 6:56Yanee Sneed: I want to provide that.
- 6:58Yanee Sneed: But to answer your question, one thing was when I was in college, I challenged those thoughts that I had, that was built inside of me, that I had that was built inside of me, and I re-challenged those negative thoughts.
- 7:10Yanee Sneed: Because one thing I understood about myself when I started challenging these thoughts was that most of my thoughts, my negative thoughts, wasn't my own.
- 7:16Yanee Sneed: My thoughts were chained towards somebody else's thought of how they perceived me.
- 7:22Yanee Sneed: I believed that I couldn't be this way.
- 7:24Yanee Sneed: I believed that I had a lot of self-doubt.
- 7:26Yanee Sneed: Those wasn't my thoughts.
- 7:27Yanee Sneed: Once I started challenging them, I started looking for the positive that I have done already in my life up to that point of college, and I started challenging more of my negative thoughts.
- 7:39Yanee Sneed: I also started looking at the things that I have overcame when I was in college, I felt a presence and I heard the presence said I'm doing it.
- 7:48Yanee Sneed: And when I repeated it it was kind of like epiphany, like I am doing it.
- 7:52Yanee Sneed: So I have to make sure I'm in the moment as well when I'm going through this stuff, so I won't feel stuck like I don't know which way to go.
- 7:58Yanee Sneed: It's being a moment and look at your obstacle as the, as the obstacle is a problem more than you are.
- 8:04Yanee Sneed: So I started really trying to focus myself and ground myself.
- 8:07Yanee Sneed: Um, today, I'm starting to use meditation now in order to really focus it and be more positive, harder, because when you do go through something like that, it's hard to really come out of it.
- 8:18Yanee Sneed: So those tips right now is what I do and I continuously do Just plant that seed of not letting it.
- 8:25Yanee Sneed: It's not what they tell you, it's kind of what you tell yourself, it's kind of what things I tell my, my clients.
- 8:30Yanee Sneed: So really reprogramming yourself in your, in your head, to really challenge some of those thoughts and your, your perception.
- 8:39Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Is that easy to do?
- 8:41Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Could my listeners take that, that nugget that you just gave, or could you share with them like well, with them, like well?
- 8:50Cassandra Crawley Mayo: How do you really do that and how long did it take?
- 8:53Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Did it happen?
- 8:55Yanee Sneed: I know it didn't happen overnight no, no, no, I've been out of college for a while now, um, so it doesn't happen overnight.
- 9:03Yanee Sneed: Um, what happens is well, for me, it's consistency.
- 9:07Yanee Sneed: Um, it's not like a light switch you, you turn it on and you don't have self-doubt or insecurities or your self-esteem is high.
- 9:14Yanee Sneed: Now, it doesn't work that way.
- 9:15Yanee Sneed: You're kind of like bacon in the oven, if you will.
- 9:18Yanee Sneed: It's a slow process.
- 9:19Yanee Sneed: It's a very slow process to rewire a lot of things that you self self-doubt, and for me it was graduating.
- 9:31Yanee Sneed: Say, for instance, you're trying to graduate, you have self-doubt about getting there.
- 9:33Yanee Sneed: Well, for me, I look back, I was like well, I finished freshman year, I finished sophomore year.
- 9:39Yanee Sneed: So I'm proving to myself that me saying I'm not going to graduate is senseless when I've already proven I can pass one year, I can pass two years.
- 9:47Yanee Sneed: That's what self-doubt of graduating.
- 9:48Yanee Sneed: Or if it's in you being a parent, I got two kids.
- 9:54Yanee Sneed: Well, the first one was a little bit edgy, you know you make your mistakes.
- 9:57Yanee Sneed: But the second one, because you learn from those experiences with your first child.
- 10:06Yanee Sneed: Now you have some building blocks to work with.
- 10:07Yanee Sneed: So you're not a bad parent, you're just a parent that's trying to prove.
- 10:09Yanee Sneed: There's no handbook in that, so giving yourself grace as well.
- 10:11Yanee Sneed: So just trying to rewire that, to look at the positive, because sometimes, when we're in a tornado, we can only think about the negative, because that's where we're at, we're all in a tornado, but we, we try to focus on a positive, which I call it, you know, we all call the silver lining in a situation that helps you focus more on something positive to get you through that dark tunnel, you know, and and survive, which is like resilience, trying to find ways to adapt to a situation, or a stretcher, um, a stretcher, a stressor, I'm sorry, a stressor um another way is to um, to joke about things probably just sound weird, but make a light of a situation and don't be so hard on yourself when something happens.
- 10:48Yanee Sneed: Accidents happen, but it's the way in which you can proceed yourself when you make an accident or a bad judgment call, you know, just learn from it, grow from it, but don't be so hard on yourself.
- 10:57Yanee Sneed: That's one.
- 10:58Yanee Sneed: Also, a trait of growth as well is being really down on yourself.
- 11:01Yanee Sneed: So those are just some of the tips you can use to um, get yourself out of that, those nuggets so in words it's like give yourself some grace.
- 11:12Yanee Sneed: Yeah, in different ways.
- 11:15Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Yes, yeah, yeah, you talked about empowerment.
- 11:20Cassandra Crawley Mayo: What does empowerment mean to you?
- 11:27Yanee Sneed: When I think about empowerment and it probably sounds really cliche, but I think about MLK I really do, because he was very authentic.
- 11:35Yanee Sneed: He spoke up for what he spoke up even when it was just him speaking up about it.
- 11:41Yanee Sneed: And that's what you have to do when it comes to yourself.
- 11:43Yanee Sneed: You have to be your true, authentic self.
- 11:45Yanee Sneed: Even if there's no one in this world who's going to love you, no one in the world who's going to speak up for you.
- 11:50Yanee Sneed: You have to be your own best friend.
- 11:51Yanee Sneed: That's what I think of empowerment Speak up to what is true to you, regardless of what it looks like, but you have to love yourself at the end of the day.
- 11:59Yanee Sneed: So that's what I think of empowerment.
- 12:01Yanee Sneed: Even when it goes against speaking up for others, you're being true to yourself because you are the community.
- 12:05Yanee Sneed: The community is you.
- 12:06Yanee Sneed: You.
- 12:06Yanee Sneed: So just being authentic and what is right and what is wrong and speaking up for it okay, okay.
- 12:12Cassandra Crawley Mayo: So, um, you have clients, you indicated, and so how do you empower others?
- 12:18Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Because you, you have that innate gift, you know.
- 12:21Cassandra Crawley Mayo: You know what to say to yourself, what to do.
- 12:23Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Um, reverse that self-talk, that negative talk, you know, because we think 20,000, the statistics say that we have 20,000 thoughts a day and 70% of those are negative, right, so you've taken a while to kind of what you would call to not only to empower but to develop yourself.
- 12:52Cassandra Crawley Mayo: So, as you're working with other people, how, what's your methodology to empower them?
- 12:59Cassandra Crawley Mayo: What do you?
- 13:00Cassandra Crawley Mayo: What do you?
- 13:00Cassandra Crawley Mayo: How do you start that?
- 13:01Yanee Sneed: process.
- 13:02Yanee Sneed: So, whatever challenge, it is safe and easy.
- 13:05Yanee Sneed: We'll go back to self-doubt.
- 13:07Yanee Sneed: I have them do more of a self-reflection.
- 13:10Yanee Sneed: You know, look upon their life, start seeing what they can pull from it.
- 13:17Yanee Sneed: So if they're saying you know I'm worth nothing or I don't feel love, or something like that, well I start challenging that.
- 13:22Yanee Sneed: Is it true?
- 13:23Yanee Sneed: Can you think of a moment in your life that you know you?
- 13:27Yanee Sneed: Just you felt the opposite.
- 13:28Yanee Sneed: You felt love, or anything like that.
- 13:30Yanee Sneed: Usually they can pick up one or two things.
- 13:31Yanee Sneed: So I started trying to breaking down those walls, because sometimes we give ourselves a narrative that's not true.
- 13:37Yanee Sneed: So I start challenging them, doing their own self-reflection and once I start giving them that epiphany that some of the things they thought wasn't true, we start building up other barriers or take away the limited beliefs on different situations.
- 13:53Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Now, how can you tell whether a person loves themselves?
- 13:58Cassandra Crawley Mayo: How can you tell that?
- 14:00Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Because one of the things you talked about is, first of all, you want to make sure, first of all, people have to love themselves.
- 14:07Cassandra Crawley Mayo: First of all, you want to make sure, first of all, people have to love themselves.
- 14:10Cassandra Crawley Mayo: So what are some of the characteristics you found where people do not love themselves?
- 14:21Cassandra Crawley Mayo: It said, yeah, like one of the first commandments was, you know, to love your neighbor as yourself, and if you don't love yourself, it's going to be difficult to love your neighbor as yourself, and if you don't love yourself, it's going to be difficult to love your neighbor.
- 14:32Cassandra Crawley Mayo: So how can you tell if a person loves themselves or not?
- 14:36Yanee Sneed: um, it's the way you can kind of really put a nail in the head.
- 14:38Yanee Sneed: It's kind of really how they treat themselves when it comes to others.
- 14:41Yanee Sneed: Um, how you, how your posture, how you see things, how you see the world.
- 14:45Yanee Sneed: Um, I mean, there are black and whites like racism.
- 14:47Yanee Sneed: That's not love, neither for you or because or the other neighbor, because that's not bringing peace.
- 14:51Yanee Sneed: There are subtle ways in self-sabotaging uh, possibly, um, drinking alcohol.
- 14:57Yanee Sneed: That's not really some loving yourself or others, especially if you have children.
- 15:01Yanee Sneed: So it just depends on the influence of a positive influence that promote your, your mind state.
- 15:07Yanee Sneed: That's how I know yourself, your loving yourself and others.
- 15:12Cassandra Crawley Mayo: So you talk people through how to love themselves.
- 15:15Cassandra Crawley Mayo: I mean, like, if somebody comes to you and do you automatically know that based on their behavior, and if so, what are some of the things you do or support them with so they can start loving themselves?
- 15:31Yanee Sneed: Well, self-love comes from a lack of void or self-esteem, lack of self-esteem, lack of confidence.
- 15:36Yanee Sneed: So we have to get that first situated before we can even say we love ourselves.
- 15:41Yanee Sneed: Because when it comes to that, it comes with shame, it comes with defeat.
- 15:44Yanee Sneed: If you've been through some trauma, you're thinking it's yourself, so you don't have that love within you.
- 15:52Yanee Sneed: So we have to build.
- 15:52Yanee Sneed: We have to build from where they're at.
- 15:53Yanee Sneed: So if they're coming in with a little type of still love, low confidence, then we have to prove well, not me, I come, I get had them come to the realization of proving themselves that they have that within them.
- 16:04Yanee Sneed: So when it comes down to helping them with love, you can bring them to the ocean and have well, the river and give them a drink, but it's kind of like that scenario.
- 16:11Yanee Sneed: They have to see that within them.
- 16:13Yanee Sneed: So I can't say, hey, let's walk through a moment where you felt that you wasn't loving yourself in this moment, and then I kind of reprogrammed them.
- 16:21Yanee Sneed: Okay, well, maybe you give yourself, like I said that word grace and look at this a different way, not asking these.
- 16:25Yanee Sneed: I said that word grace and look at this a different, different way, and I asked him these questions.
- 16:28Yanee Sneed: Hey, well, you could have been nice to yourself, yes, you could have been more forgiving to yourself, yes, but through that, did you ever ask yourself how you're doing in that moment?
- 16:36Yanee Sneed: So I started building those those things that, if they don't have that, I started building those things up within them to to have those, those skills, those stepping stones for them.
- 16:49Cassandra Crawley Mayo: So they can do it on their self.
- 16:50Cassandra Crawley Mayo: So it sounds like you know, based on what you've been through, you've had a lot of personal growth.
- 16:55Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Where did that personal growth come from?
- 16:58Cassandra Crawley Mayo: How are you getting that?
- 17:02Yanee Sneed: My personal growth came through wisdom.
- 17:03Yanee Sneed: That's the only way I can help myself and my clients is through my wisdom.
- 17:07Yanee Sneed: I didn't learn as an old book, not at all.
- 17:11Yanee Sneed: How I can speak is through what I've been through and that's how I can help them.
- 17:21Yanee Sneed: So it's basically just all on wisdom, and that's a lot, because not a lot of people can look back on their lives and say they learned something.
- 17:24Yanee Sneed: So that in itself was self-reflection.
- 17:26Yanee Sneed: A lot of self-reflection because I did make mistakes but in order to grow from them and help others, you have to know what it looks like to get to the other side.
- 17:33Yanee Sneed: You really can't talk through with a client if you don't know what it looks like on the other side.
- 17:38Yanee Sneed: So a lot of self-reflection, a lot of uh growth through it all uh, what triggers your clients to come to you?
- 17:46Cassandra Crawley Mayo: what's their trigger?
- 17:47Cassandra Crawley Mayo: What's like a common denominator why they come to you?
- 17:52Yanee Sneed: so the main stressor is a lack of purpose.
- 18:00Yanee Sneed: That's the, that's the theme.
- 18:02Yanee Sneed: I'm trying to think of all of them.
- 18:03Yanee Sneed: That's the theme a lack of purpose.
- 18:04Yanee Sneed: They come with I don't know the next stage in my life, or I'm stuck deciding between, um what my family wants, or what do I want when it comes to school.
- 18:14Yanee Sneed: Um, I have clients that come in and say that my kids are grown now and they out of um the house.
- 18:21Yanee Sneed: What do I do next?
- 18:22Yanee Sneed: So it's a lot of finding purpose.
- 18:24Yanee Sneed: Um, there's some identities, but more, when you get down to, it's about belonging somewhere, trying to find a purpose, another meaning, after they already fulfilled what they thought was their original purpose.
- 18:35Cassandra Crawley Mayo: So it's more of of that type of thing okay, um, now a lot of people are into um and I remember myself.
- 18:45Cassandra Crawley Mayo: I'm like what is my purpose?
- 18:46Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Throughout the years, what's my purpose?
- 18:49Cassandra Crawley Mayo: And you found your purpose out of what you've been through.
- 18:54Cassandra Crawley Mayo: You were clear on that was your purpose.
- 19:00Yanee Sneed: So originally it wasn't about what I've been through.
- 19:04Yanee Sneed: I didn't know that is what I was going to arrive at.
- 19:06Yanee Sneed: When I decided to do life coaching.
- 19:08Yanee Sneed: I was even talked down about doing life coaching by a lot of my I call them fake leaders.
- 19:13Yanee Sneed: At this point I had leaders that I tried to look up to define my purpose because I didn't know.
- 19:18Yanee Sneed: I don't think they knew.
- 19:19Yanee Sneed: They tried to tear me away from life coaching and try to point out my flaws, try to make me embarrassed about already speaking up about my, my life story.
- 19:28Yanee Sneed: Um, so it took me a while to even get to this point.
- 19:31Yanee Sneed: So I always questioned why I was going through what I was going through.
- 19:35Yanee Sneed: I didn't know why.
- 19:37Yanee Sneed: I didn't know about what, what clues?
- 19:40Yanee Sneed: I didn't know anything.
- 19:41Yanee Sneed: I just knew that I was going to arrive at that at some point because I knew that during that time I was religious.
- 19:48Yanee Sneed: So I knew that God would put more on me than I could bear.
- 19:51Yanee Sneed: I didn't know why he put that much on me.
- 19:53Yanee Sneed: I just knew I can get through it.
- 19:55Yanee Sneed: So I just kept with the why, why me?
- 19:58Yanee Sneed: Why am I going through this?
- 19:59Yanee Sneed: Until I started getting sparks of it.
- 20:01Yanee Sneed: Um, when I started mentoring and I was like, okay, I'm helping this individual because I've been through it, so I know how to guide them.
- 20:09Yanee Sneed: In a way, I know how to get them to a realization of what they need to see in this moment for themselves.
- 20:15Yanee Sneed: So I started getting a lot of those and I was like, okay, well, let me go into social work, um, so I can do more of that.
- 20:22Yanee Sneed: I didn't know like life coaching was existing during that time, but I arrived at that much later, after college okay, um, your your mission is to guide individuals through adversities in order to unlock their full potential.
- 20:39Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Use me as a client.
- 20:40Cassandra Crawley Mayo: What would some of the things you do to support me or empower me to unlock my full potential?
- 20:49Yanee Sneed: Okay.
- 20:50Yanee Sneed: So I don't want to ask your age or anything, but so, in order to help me unlock your full potential, you'll get stuck, and that means that there is a crossword, there's a void, there's something that you're uncertain about doing, because if you're not stuck, you'll make a decision.
- 21:05Yanee Sneed: You'll know what it is.
- 21:06Yanee Sneed: So say, for instance, you're working and you're stuck at a job.
- 21:10Yanee Sneed: You don't know what you want to do.
- 21:12Yanee Sneed: At this point, the first question I would ask is what makes you happy?
- 21:16Yanee Sneed: What makes you feel like you, you belong?
- 21:20Yanee Sneed: What is, what is that?
- 21:21Yanee Sneed: It You'll give me?
- 21:23Yanee Sneed: You want to give me an answer, you can give me an answer, but usually it is well.
- 21:27Yanee Sneed: I do this, or I play this sport, or sometimes when I read, or X, y, z, this, makes me feel happy.
- 21:33Yanee Sneed: So we start looking at any connections to what can be out there for you to explore.
- 21:40Yanee Sneed: We go down that road.
- 21:41Yanee Sneed: Sometimes if you're younger, I ask the question of when you was younger.
- 21:45Yanee Sneed: Well, what did you want to be, you know, ballerina, astronaut, whatever that case may be.
- 21:50Yanee Sneed: So we look at that.
- 21:50Yanee Sneed: We start exploring those things and seeing how that can fit in, what you can do.
- 21:55Yanee Sneed: So we start really where the client is and we kind of work around that.
- 22:00Yanee Sneed: It depends on the age as well, but it definitely depends on what makes you happy.
- 22:05Yanee Sneed: I start there first because that's usually where I can get someone to really think.
- 22:08Yanee Sneed: When you're stuck, you're like I got 550 many things to think about.
- 22:12Yanee Sneed: I have no clue which way.
- 22:13Yanee Sneed: Let's start with what makes you happy first.
- 22:15Yanee Sneed: What does that look like for you?
- 22:17Yanee Sneed: And get everyday life when we start there?
- 22:21Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Well, I ask that because the podcast is Is your Way, in your Way?
- 22:26Cassandra Crawley Mayo: There are a lot of listeners that number one they want to change jobs, they want to be promoted, they want to get out of a relationship, but they're struggling with that.
- 22:36Cassandra Crawley Mayo: They want to start a business.
- 22:38Cassandra Crawley Mayo: You know a number of things, whereas they'll get in their way from doing those things, they have that self-doubt, those negative beliefs doing those things.
- 22:51Cassandra Crawley Mayo: They have that self-doubt, those negative beliefs.
- 22:53Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Also, comparison, social media.
- 22:57Cassandra Crawley Mayo: They're so busy trying to compare themselves to social media.
- 22:59Cassandra Crawley Mayo: It's a lot of things that's preventing them from living their best life because they're in their way.
- 23:01Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Like you mentioned, procrastination.
- 23:04Cassandra Crawley Mayo: I can recall myself.
- 23:06Cassandra Crawley Mayo: I know there's certain things I need to do when I was supposed to have been writing my book but I would find everything else to do.
- 23:13Cassandra Crawley Mayo: But that Also self-sabotage, imposter syndrome.
- 23:18Cassandra Crawley Mayo: So that's why I asked that question about how do you guide them to their potential, because that's a lot of my listeners are ready to move forward and do something.
- 23:29Cassandra Crawley Mayo: They're uncomfortable, they're unsettled and what it is that they're doing and they want to do something different.
- 23:35Cassandra Crawley Mayo: So that's why I asked the question for my listeners to find out, you know, to help them, like you said, maybe ask them what makes them happy, and there's some of them that that might not even know, you know yeah, because the reason I asked that is because, although it's a simple question, when you put that in context of what to do next, it's it's hard to connect those two.
- 23:56Yanee Sneed: Because what makes you happy for me?
- 23:58Yanee Sneed: I love poetry, but poetry is not going to pay the bills unless you're a good writer.
- 24:02Yanee Sneed: So we have to start connecting your passion first and then give a 10.
- 24:06Yanee Sneed: I can't help say, okay, these are the steps I would like you to take if you're not passionate about it.
- 24:12Yanee Sneed: So what makes you happy For me?
- 24:14Yanee Sneed: I guess my client is a way to think on a more positive note to do that, because you mentioned a lot of things.
- 24:41Yanee Sneed: But if you don't have passion behind doing something, then it's kind of irrelevant.
- 24:45Yanee Sneed: You're going to stay stuck.
- 24:46Yanee Sneed: So having that drive definitely helps.
- 24:49Yanee Sneed: Yeah, social media we've got a lot of different things going on.
- 24:52Yanee Sneed: Well, all that is distractions.
- 24:54Yanee Sneed: But if you have passion, you have intent behind it, you have a purpose behind it, then you can get rid of all of those distractions.
- 25:00Yanee Sneed: So starting from what makes you happy for me opens my client's eyes up to well, let me see what I can do, cause sometimes we in a job just for the checks.
- 25:08Yanee Sneed: So what makes you happy Can start finding that purpose.
- 25:11Yanee Sneed: Let me find out what I can connect with in this world and then you know that goes to attention.
- 25:18Cassandra Crawley Mayo: How has your spirituality impacted you?
- 25:25Yanee Sneed: Greatly, greatly.
- 25:26Yanee Sneed: Um.
- 25:27Yanee Sneed: I think my spirituality saved me in a lot of situations, um, because of how I perceived life when I was younger.
- 25:41Yanee Sneed: It it saved me from a lot of things that I could have done worse for my um to myself, um, it, it, um, it.
- 25:49Yanee Sneed: It balanced me out.
- 25:50Yanee Sneed: It helped me clear um, find clarity in certain situations that I didn't really have a strong understanding on.
- 25:57Yanee Sneed: Um.
- 25:58Yanee Sneed: Meditation has definitely helped because it allowed me to de-stress in a lot of situations that may be um triggering.
- 26:04Yanee Sneed: So really leaning into that to help manifest what I want in this world instead of letting the world define me.
- 26:12Yanee Sneed: So the spirit challenges really put a balance and a calmness in me to really move forward with what I need to do, which is get back.
- 26:20Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Right, right.
- 26:21Cassandra Crawley Mayo: So you talked about wholeness.
- 26:25Cassandra Crawley Mayo: How do you be whole?
- 26:29Cassandra Crawley Mayo: You know the W-o-l-e, you know um, and and what.
- 26:34Cassandra Crawley Mayo: What does it look like to be whole?
- 26:39Yanee Sneed: yeah, um.
- 26:39Yanee Sneed: So two questions.
- 26:42Yanee Sneed: The first one what it look like be whole is be one with yourself in the midst of the troubles.
- 26:47Yanee Sneed: So so you're not scatterbrained, you're balanced and you know what to do during a situation.
- 26:53Yanee Sneed: The stressor is not stressing you out or is not causing you to be discombobulated, not focused on the actual goal, which is dealing with the stressor head on and not freezing up.
- 27:03Yanee Sneed: That's what it looks like.
- 27:05Yanee Sneed: How you can get there is a lot of self-reflection, a lot of meditating, a lot of grace and forgiveness.
- 27:12Yanee Sneed: These things, I'm saying sounds simple, but it's really not.
- 27:16Yanee Sneed: Meditating for 10 minutes is not something that's simple, because we're so in constant interaction with something.
- 27:23Yanee Sneed: To stay still is not simple at all, but it is rewarding Grace and forgiveness.
- 27:27Yanee Sneed: Not simple at all, though I'm just saying it like that.
- 27:30Yanee Sneed: It's not simple at all, especially when you have to do the inner work and come to terms with the reality of the situation that you may have caused a lot of self-sabotage in your life.
- 27:39Yanee Sneed: That's not an easy feat to have at all, especially with me I'm not speaking from personal experience.
- 27:44Yanee Sneed: It's not an easy feat to say you know what.
- 27:46Yanee Sneed: I may have caused some harm to myself.
- 27:48Yanee Sneed: I need to show some forgiveness.
- 27:50Yanee Sneed: That's how I can move on from this situation.
- 27:51Yanee Sneed: Now it's all easy.
- 27:53Yanee Sneed: Also, it's a lot of hard work, but when you're consistent with it all, it really does pay off.
- 28:04Yanee Sneed: It really does pay off.
- 28:06Cassandra Crawley Mayo: What does Yanni's day look like?
- 28:09Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Like who?
- 28:12Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Like?
- 28:12Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Yeah, it's because you have children and you want to maintain where you are now and you know how do you do that man, oh man, oh man.
- 28:22Yanee Sneed: So it varies depending on if the kids wake up one time.
- 28:26Yanee Sneed: So the first thing I do is I do wake up at least 30 minutes earlier.
- 28:34Yanee Sneed: I do try.
- 28:35Yanee Sneed: The 20 minutes is the minimum I have afforded to me.
- 28:39Yanee Sneed: So I'll use that time to meditate, or I'll just sit on my couch, listen to instruments, to soft music, to get my mind in a mind state of giving back.
- 28:49Yanee Sneed: I'll be grateful.
- 28:50Yanee Sneed: I'll wake up with a thanks.
- 28:52Yanee Sneed: All the time.
- 28:53Yanee Sneed: I say thank you to myself and I also say thank you to myself and I also say thank you to the world to wake me up again.
- 28:58Yanee Sneed: They didn't have to.
- 28:59Yanee Sneed: I could have been six feet under yesterday, but I'm not, so I'm grateful for that.
- 29:03Yanee Sneed: So I come in with a first grace Thanks for myself as well for actually making it here, because I could have been written off and had my life overcome me, but I overcame it.
- 29:12Yanee Sneed: Then I wake my kids up, get them going.
- 29:16Yanee Sneed: My daughter I also do the same thing to her.
- 29:19Yanee Sneed: I also ask her to do three things that she's proud of in the morning.
- 29:22Yanee Sneed: So I get her in that same mindset.
- 29:24Yanee Sneed: My little one she's still two.
- 29:26Yanee Sneed: She can't really do that.
- 29:28Yanee Sneed: But we wake up with a good head on our shoulders, we get together.
- 29:31Yanee Sneed: You know school, know school.
- 29:33Yanee Sneed: Come back, help out my clients.
- 29:36Yanee Sneed: Um, I do have a podcast coming up um carl on this fan podcast that would be out um shortly, so I start doing videos for that.
- 29:44Yanee Sneed: So in between the mix of those two things, um, I'm also authoring another book.
- 29:49Yanee Sneed: So pretty hectic um day I do have sometimes, depending on what'm doing, pick the kids up and I'm with them, so I transition many hats throughout the day as well.
- 30:02Yanee Sneed: So it depends on other life situations, but the general aspect of it, that's basically what I do.
- 30:08Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Yeah, Cause I asked that?
- 30:10Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Because we all have things to do.
- 30:13Cassandra Crawley Mayo: We got to have relationships, especially as women.
- 30:17Cassandra Crawley Mayo: We have to take care of the kids, take care of the bills, take care of the inside of the house.
- 30:23Cassandra Crawley Mayo: You got to cook, you got to buy the groceries.
- 30:26Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Here you are an author, Now you're an entrepreneur.
- 30:30Cassandra Crawley Mayo: So that's why I'm asking, because there's so many people that are just overwhelmed.
- 30:36Cassandra Crawley Mayo: You know, they're just burnt out.
- 30:38Cassandra Crawley Mayo: So that's why I asked the question, because I'm sure my listeners like, wow, she's doing a lot.
- 30:43Cassandra Crawley Mayo: What does her day look like?
- 30:44Cassandra Crawley Mayo: How did she start her day?
- 30:45Cassandra Crawley Mayo: What is going on?
- 30:46Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Oh, my gosh, you got two kids, you know.
- 30:48Cassandra Crawley Mayo: So that's why I wanted to pose that question to you Now, as we wrap up, and congratulations on starting a podcast.
- 30:58Cassandra Crawley Mayo: What's the name of your podcast going to be?
- 31:00Yanee Sneed: It's going to be.
- 31:01Yanee Sneed: I'll name my business Relentless Phoenix.
- 31:03Yanee Sneed: Okay.
- 31:06Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Right, because the title of this podcast is Power of Resilience Through Relentlessness, and that's something that has definitely resilient and you're going to keep it moving.
- 31:19Cassandra Crawley Mayo: You're going to let go.
- 31:20Cassandra Crawley Mayo: You're not going to let go and that's good.
- 31:22Cassandra Crawley Mayo: And just your testament demonstrates to my listeners wow, she's been through a lot.
- 31:28Cassandra Crawley Mayo: We don't know all the specifics of her life, but we do know that she had some experiences, like we all do in our childhood, but yet she was able to pivot and bounce back and and serve.
- 31:42Cassandra Crawley Mayo: So you're an entrepreneur, but you're a serve.
- 31:44Cassandra Crawley Mayo: You're not a product entrepreneur, you're a service entrepreneur, so that's a good thing.
- 31:49Cassandra Crawley Mayo: So what I'd like for you to do is because I talked about how my listeners are unsettled.
- 31:56Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Some of them, a lot of them, have come a long way with the trajectory of their lives.
- 32:03Cassandra Crawley Mayo: What message would you provide them that is ready to change the trajectory of their lives?
- 32:10Cassandra Crawley Mayo: To my listeners, to my listeners.
- 32:18Yanee Sneed: Two things and this is what I tell my clients as well, is a quote of mine that I use daily Age does not determine your maturity.
- 32:21Yanee Sneed: It's what you learn from your experiences that justifies your growth.
- 32:24Yanee Sneed: The second thing is the past is not here.
- 32:27Yanee Sneed: The future is gone.
- 32:28Yanee Sneed: You only have right now.
- 32:29Yanee Sneed: So stay right now because you're telling your story.
- 32:32Yanee Sneed: Both of those, I think, is really important, because it demonstrates that you have to be in the moment at all times and not be distracted about what happened in the past or what's going on in the future.
- 32:45Yanee Sneed: You're right here, learning an exact moment, changing your story.
- 32:50Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Now, what was your first one?
- 32:51Cassandra Crawley Mayo: You had two, and I didn't understand what the first one was the message for the listeners.
- 32:57Yanee Sneed: Yes, the first one is age does not determine your maturity, but what you learn from your experiences justifies your growth.
- 33:05Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Okay, okay Great.
- 33:06Cassandra Crawley Mayo: What a great message.
- 33:08Cassandra Crawley Mayo: How can my listeners contact you?
- 33:13Yanee Sneed: Yes, so I have a website, yadnesneedcom that's Y-A-H-N-E-S-N-E-E-Dcom.
- 33:21Yanee Sneed: My social media handles RelentlessPhoenix00.

- 34:00Cassandra Crawley Mayo: Well, um, thank you so much for being on, is your way, in your way, and um, continue your resilience, and you're already relentless.
- 34:05Cassandra Crawley Mayo: So I, I applaud you for what you're doing.
