- 0:26Speaker 2: Yeah, we're all just trying to Reached the same goal.
- 0:28Speaker 2: We all want to win football games, and so we're
- 0:30Speaker 2: all working towards that. I thought this was a good
- 0:32Speaker 2: week for our guys, coaches, players. Really good week of practice.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Kellen Moore on Friday as the Saints get ready to
- 0:41Speaker 2: head up to New York City to take on the Giants.
- 0:44Speaker 2: The 1-4 New Orleans Saints against the surprising 3-1-1 Giants.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Big storyline in this game has been what the point
- 0:53Speaker 2: spread has done. I do think with the odds makers,
- 0:56Speaker 2: how they see it is important. I don't think it's
- 0:58Speaker 2: the only thing we should pay attention to. But this
- 1:01Speaker 2: line opened Giants 2.5. It's moved all the way to
- 1:03Speaker 2: Saints 1.5. Vegas just isn't often wrong by four points.
- 1:10Speaker 2: In the NFL, you don't see that dramatic of a swing.
- 1:13Speaker 2: And what Jimmy Ott explained to us a day ago is,
- 1:16Speaker 2: you know, when oddsmakers... apply point spread value, they can
- 1:20Speaker 2: look at a record and say the Saints at 1-4
- 1:22Speaker 2: are undervalued because of their record, and the Giants are
- 1:26Speaker 2: probably overvalued right now at 3-1-1, not close to as
- 1:29Speaker 2: good as their record might suggest. The big story this
- 1:34Speaker 2: week around the Saints, aside from obviously we know that
- 1:38Speaker 2: Kate Nellis and Anthony Jennings are not going to play
- 1:40Speaker 2: for the Saints. They've already been ruled out for this game.
- 1:42Speaker 2: The big story this week was that Gail Benson went
- 1:44Speaker 2: to the New Orleans Quarterbacks Club and made the comment
- 1:46Speaker 2: she did where she, by name, called out Kellen Moore
- 1:48Speaker 2: and Mickey Loomis and the leadership on the team and
- 1:51Speaker 2: talked about how unacceptable it is where they are right now.
- 1:54Speaker 2: And I think this is all certainly rooted in what
- 1:57Speaker 2: happened on Domecoming, just to be so thoroughly beaten down
- 2:02Speaker 2: and embarrassed on such a special and important day. And
- 2:04Speaker 2: then a week later, to no show at home against
- 2:07Speaker 2: the Minnesota Vikings and have literally one of the worst
- 2:09Speaker 2: offensive performances of the last 30 years, where you're held
- 2:13Speaker 2: under 200 yards of total offense. You're sitting here at
- 2:15Speaker 2: one and four in a season that At the start
- 2:17Speaker 2: of the year, I mean, you were a two-point conversion
- 2:20Speaker 2: in overtime away from upsetting Detroit. Excuse me. And then
- 2:22Speaker 2: you went on the road, and you did upset. baltimore
- 2:27Speaker 2: but since then you blow a double digit second half
- 2:30Speaker 2: lead against the raiders at home you got run out
- 2:33Speaker 2: of your building in embarrassing fashion against your rival on
- 2:35Speaker 2: monday night football and six days later five days later
- 2:38Speaker 2: came back and were beaten soundly by the minnesota vikings
- 2:42Speaker 2: and now you've got back-to-back road games before you're by
- 2:44Speaker 2: it feels very much like a critical juncture in the
- 2:47Speaker 2: season what did you think about gail benson's comments as
- 2:52Speaker 2: a from an a Let me ask you two parts
- 2:55Speaker 2: of this, actually. I wish I could have talked to
- 2:56Speaker 2: you about this last week, but after the embarrassment on
- 2:59Speaker 2: Monday Night Football, my point was if this team has
- 3:03Speaker 2: any pride whatsoever, you have a major bounce back.
- 3:06Speaker 1: They're all still pros.
- 3:08Speaker 2: And to go lay down against Minnesota and get just
- 3:10Speaker 2: waxed told me all I really need to know about
- 3:12Speaker 2: the pride and character of this team. They have none.
- 3:15Speaker 2: And I will not believe they have it until they
- 3:17Speaker 2: show me otherwise. What do you think of that?
- 3:21Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, you know, from a, it always starts
- 3:24Speaker 3: at the top and it always starts at who's calling
- 3:27Speaker 3: the shots and who's in charge. And when I say
- 3:29Speaker 3: the top, I'm talking about ownership. It's not necessarily the
- 3:33Speaker 3: coach or the GM. It's, it's because everybody knows that
- 3:36Speaker 3: that's the one pulling the strings. I've been on teams,
- 3:39Speaker 3: plenty of teams where you didn't feel like you had
- 3:41Speaker 3: the support from the ownership. You could be the greatest
- 3:44Speaker 3: coach on the planet, but at the end of the day,
- 3:46Speaker 3: the buck stops there with the, with the person writing
- 3:48Speaker 3: the checks. So the fact that that Gail Benson came
- 3:50Speaker 3: out and said what she said I think is great.
- 3:53Speaker 3: I think she should have done it three years ago.
- 3:56Speaker 3: To me, this has been a long time coming. You
- 3:59Speaker 3: just said they're all pros.
- 4:00Speaker 2: They are.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Mickey Loomis is a pro. Kellen Moore is a pro,
- 4:03Speaker 3: as well as all those players. They get paid a
- 4:05Speaker 3: lot of money. Somebody's got to hold them accountable, and
- 4:08Speaker 3: I'm perfectly fine with them doing it out in the
- 4:11Speaker 3: public and putting people on notice. Now, will she follow
- 4:14Speaker 3: through with any of that? I don't know, but when
- 4:17Speaker 3: I heard the comments, when I heard the interview, I'm like.
- 4:20Speaker 1: It's about time.
- 4:22Speaker 2: Okay, so then what about the point I made about
- 4:26Speaker 2: getting shellacked, embarrassed by Atlanta, I expected a great effort,
- 4:35Speaker 2: a big, big-time bet. You see it all the time
- 4:38Speaker 2: in pro sports. Team gets embarrassed the next week, big
- 4:40Speaker 2: bounce-back effort, and we saw the opposite.
- 4:43Speaker 3: I think it goes to show how important depth is
- 4:47Speaker 3: in the NFL or in professional sports. When you have
- 4:51Speaker 3: a few guys on the defensive side of the ball,
- 4:53Speaker 3: arguably your best player on the defensive side of the ball,
- 4:55Speaker 3: not healthy, and you shouldn't see that big of a drop-off.
- 5:01Speaker 3: But it was an obvious overmatch in the Atlanta game.
- 5:07Speaker 2: The inability to stop the run the last two weeks
- 5:09Speaker 2: has been obvious.
- 5:15Speaker 3: We talked about this a little bit with Tyler Shuck,
- 5:17Speaker 3: and you can kind of see it on the offensive
- 5:18Speaker 3: side of the ball. You know, listen, man, you've got
- 5:22Speaker 3: Chris Olave, and that's it. I mean, you really don't
- 5:26Speaker 3: have– this is a dang NFL, man. Like, you look
- 5:31Speaker 3: at every single team in the NFL, and they've got
- 5:34Speaker 3: a couple difference makers out there. I mean, we're playing
- 5:36Speaker 3: the Giants this week, and Giants kind of stink, obviously,
- 5:38Speaker 3: but you've got Malik neighbors who go, oh, crap, we
- 5:41Speaker 3: got it. We can't let him beat us. Scataboo can
- 5:44Speaker 3: get loose and start running over people and have a
- 5:46Speaker 3: decent game.
- 5:47Speaker 2: And you can't stop their run.
- 5:49Speaker 3: And listen, like I said, I like Olave, but, you know,
- 5:54Speaker 3: your quarterback's still got to get him the ball. I mean,
- 5:57Speaker 3: I'll tell you one thing. If Jameis Winston beats the
- 6:00Speaker 3: New Orleans Saints and we don't see changes made pretty quick,
- 6:04Speaker 3: then I've lost all hope from Gayle Benson that she'll
- 6:07Speaker 3: ever make any changes.
- 6:08Speaker 2: What changes do you mean?
- 6:09Speaker 3: I mean, the general manager has to go. To me,
- 6:12Speaker 3: that's– and I never want to call for people's jobs,
- 6:15Speaker 3: but that's, to me, the one– who's constructing this roster,
- 6:21Speaker 3: who's put these guys together, who's failed, quite honestly, in
- 6:26Speaker 3: the draft over the last however many years, not done.
- 6:29Speaker 1: A great job in the draft.
- 6:30Speaker 3: And so, you know, to me that's where the change
- 6:34Speaker 3: has to be made.
- 6:36Speaker 2: With respect to the game on Sunday, I think you
- 6:42Speaker 2: just– if you're ever conflicted on a matchup, I look
- 6:46Speaker 2: at coach quarterback venues. John Harbaugh is a better coach
- 6:51Speaker 2: than Kellen Moore. That's an objective fact. He's won a
- 6:53Speaker 2: Super Bowl. He won for 20 years at Baltimore. He's
- 6:56Speaker 2: got the Giants at 3-1-1. You're on the road. You're
- 7:01Speaker 2: playing at New York. And quarterback, Jameis and Tyler Shuck,
- 7:05Speaker 2: I mean, you can roll your eyes and laugh. I mean,
- 7:07Speaker 2: Jameis has had issues throughout his career with turnovers, but
- 7:10Speaker 2: it'll also– it's the Jameis experience, right? People always say.
- 7:12Speaker 3: He's the leader of men, bro.
- 7:13Speaker 2: The other part of it is when you look at
- 7:16Speaker 2: the line of scrimmage– The Giants obviously have injuries at
- 7:20Speaker 2: both tackle spots, and the Saints are without Kelvin Banks,
- 7:24Speaker 2: and Austin Richards is just... It's a massive drop-off there,
- 7:28Speaker 2: and they haven't shown the ability, even on the interior,
- 7:30Speaker 2: to protect Tyler Shuck. And the Saints right now are
- 7:33Speaker 2: fourth from the bottom in the NFL in rushing offense
- 7:36Speaker 2: at 81 yards a game. If you can't run the ball,
- 7:39Speaker 2: if you cannot run the football... then you become one-dimensional.
- 7:43Speaker 2: And now Tyler Shuck is just sitting there as they
- 7:46Speaker 2: bring pressure. And as you mentioned, if Olave is really
- 7:49Speaker 2: the only dynamic receiving weapon you have, then what are you? Well,
- 7:54Speaker 2: you're an offense that puts up under 200 yards at
- 7:56Speaker 2: home like you did last week. And the Giants can
- 7:59Speaker 2: bring pressure. And I don't– it's the biggest disappointment for
- 8:05Speaker 2: me this year is I bought into the Saints' offense–
- 8:10Speaker 2: taking that big step this year with Tyler Shuck and
- 8:13Speaker 2: it just it hasn't happened they dig they start slow
- 8:16Speaker 2: they dig themselves a big hole when he has to
- 8:18Speaker 2: throw to get them out of it he was able
- 8:20Speaker 2: to do it competitively a few times but the turnovers
- 8:22Speaker 2: have been a problem as well obviously the turnovers late
- 8:25Speaker 2: against the Raiders cost you there last week against Minnesota
- 8:29Speaker 2: in the second half one of them wasn't Shuck obviously
- 8:32Speaker 2: fumbled the opening kickoff of the second half but I
- 8:35Speaker 2: don't know that If there's anything I've seen from this
- 8:37Speaker 2: team that leads me to believe they have an advantage
- 8:41Speaker 2: on either.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Side of the football.
- 8:42Speaker 2: They don't run the ball. They don't stop the run.
- 8:45Speaker 2: And they haven't been good in special teams this year
- 8:48Speaker 2: at all. I just mentioned they fumbled the opening kickoff
- 8:51Speaker 2: of the second half. It's been very hot and cold
- 8:55Speaker 2: with Daniel Carlson, who missed a PAT. I just, where's
- 8:59Speaker 2: the thing that says that's the matchup? the Saints can
- 9:02Speaker 2: take advantage of to win this football game.
- 9:04Speaker 3: And Carlson sticks. But, you know, when you're talking about
- 9:07Speaker 3: the offense, it's one-dimensional. There is no running game whatsoever
- 9:12Speaker 3: to speak of. When this offense was actually looking pretty good,
- 9:16Speaker 3: it's when you had a healthy back there that could produce.
- 9:19Speaker 3: You got an aging Alvin Kamara that, I mean, look,
- 9:25Speaker 3: if I'm Kellen Moore or even Kamara, I'm saying, listen,
- 9:28Speaker 3: give me 20 touches this game. Let me see what happens.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 9:31Speaker 3: I mean, he's got that type of skill set. I mean,
- 9:33Speaker 3: you know, I get it. He's old, but Miller's not
- 9:37Speaker 3: the answer there. You're a one-dimensional offense. These guys are
- 9:39Speaker 3: peeling their ears back, and they're going to get it.
- 9:41Speaker 2: If you think Alvin Kamara at this point is the answer,
- 9:43Speaker 2: that speaks to the problem. Both of the Giants' starting
- 9:46Speaker 2: tackles were limited on Friday. They were both officially listed
- 9:49Speaker 2: as questionable in this football game. With Chase Young and
- 9:52Speaker 2: Carl Granderson, that might be the advantage. If the Giants
- 9:54Speaker 2: are without their starting tackles, who are both questionable in
- 9:57Speaker 2: this game, then you would have an advantage there with
- 9:59Speaker 2: the opportunity to pressure Jameis, and maybe you could force
- 10:01Speaker 2: a few turnovers. It's just, it's so hard for me
- 10:03Speaker 2: to predict that happening. I don't think either of these
- 10:05Speaker 2: teams are very good. I do think it's a low-scoring game.
- 10:08Speaker 2: I think you're looking at something like You know, a
- 10:12Speaker 2: 17-14 type game. I think Vegas had it right the
- 10:15Speaker 2: first time. Giants are better coached there at home. The
- 10:18Speaker 2: Saints turn the ball over and they can't run it
- 10:20Speaker 2: or stop the run. If you just ask me, I
- 10:23Speaker 2: think Malik Nabors and Cam Scadaboo, they create too many
- 10:27Speaker 2: problems for the New Orleans defense, which hasn't been good enough.
- 10:29Speaker 2: and the offense hasn't shown the ability to move the football.
- 10:31Speaker 2: So until I see them do that, I just, it
- 10:34Speaker 2: would be disingenuous for me to predict them to do
- 10:36Speaker 2: it until I see them do it. So I think
- 10:38Speaker 2: the giants, I love the under in this game. The
- 10:40Speaker 2: total is, um, I'll look at the total here in
- 10:43Speaker 2: a second and get it for you. But I think,
- 10:45Speaker 2: I let me know what the total is. I would
- 10:46Speaker 2: still take the under in this football game. It's, um,
- 10:50Speaker 2: it's a 46 and a half. I mean, yeah, I,
- 10:52Speaker 2: I think the under is the play in this football game.
- 10:54Speaker 2: I don't like either offense and, um, Unless you have
- 10:57Speaker 2: turnovers that create short field opportunities. But give me the
- 10:59Speaker 2: Giants in a low scoring game.
- 11:01Speaker 3: Yeah, I think the Giants too, 24-17.
