Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_03]: Hey friend, we'll come back to Bible Tract Records, thank you for joining me today.
- 0:03[SPEAKER_03]: This is the fifth and final broadcast in a series, dealing with a sobering.
- 0:09[SPEAKER_03]: And eternally important subject, the reality of hell.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_03]: All week long, we've been listening to brief selections, from a message by the late Dr. Paul Vee in the founder of Bible Tracts Incorporating.
- 0:21[SPEAKER_03]: His voice still speaks so powerfully, forty and almost fifty years later.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_03]: Why?
- 0:29[SPEAKER_03]: Because he preached the timeless word of God without apology.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_03]: If you missed out over the earlier broadcasts, I want to encourage you to go back and potentially listen to them on your favorite podcast platform.
- 0:40[SPEAKER_03]: They might help with some context for what we're going to talk about today, but don't go away now.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_03]: Every one of these previous broadcasts featured Dr. Paul's burden, pleading with young men and women in that day, the 1980s, with a message that is still true today, asking them, don't gamble with eternity.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_03]: Don't ignore the clear warnings of scripture and so today.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_03]: for this final broadcast in the series, I want to take you straight to the Bible, to the very words of the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 1:11[SPEAKER_03]: One of the most overlooked truths in modern Christianity is this, Jesus spoke more about hell than any other Bible character.
- 1:23[SPEAKER_03]: Then any other person in scripture, I hesitate to call them characters and make some sound, like they were fake.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_03]: No, these people in the Bible were real.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_03]: And Jesus spoke about hell more than any of the prophets, more than any of the apostles.
- 1:35[SPEAKER_03]: He did so vividly, he warned repeatedly, and he did so in terms of leaving no room for doubt or softening.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_03]: He might listen to a thousand modern preachers and never hear a message on hell.
- 1:49[SPEAKER_03]: But you cannot read the Four Gospels with honesty and avoid the fact that Christ Himself mentioned and preached on hell repeatedly.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_03]: And that should stop every one of us in our tracks, I believe.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_03]: Hell is not the invention of angry preachers.
- 2:04[SPEAKER_03]: Hell is not a symbolic idea created by medieval artists.
- 2:10[SPEAKER_03]: Hell is on a metaphor, hell is real, hell is eternal, hell is terrible, beyond any words I used to describe it today.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_03]: And Jesus Christ, yes, the meek and lowly Lamb of God, warned about it with authority and urgency.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_03]: So we're going to walk through several passages today.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_03]: Every one of them quoted directly from the Bible.
- 2:32[SPEAKER_03]: so you can hear Jesus' words without filter and pretty light on commentary and certainly without distraction.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_03]: I'd ask you if you would attune your minds to what you are about to hear.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_03]: In the sermon on the Mount, Jesus declared, Matthew 522, but I say unto you that whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment,
- 2:55[SPEAKER_03]: And who's whoever shall say to his brother Raka, meaning empty or worthless, stupid or empty-headed, shall be in danger of the council?
- 3:05[SPEAKER_03]: But who's whoever shall say that fool shall be in danger of hellfire?
- 3:11[SPEAKER_03]: And then, only a few verses later, Jesus warned again in Matthew 5, 29, and if I write I offend the pluck it out and cast it from the, for it is profitable for the, that one of thy members should perish and not that thy whole body.
- 3:27[SPEAKER_03]: should be cast into hell.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_03]: And then the next verse, and if they right hand if Andy cut it off, cast it from the fruit as profitable for thee that one of them members should perish and not that they whole body should be cast into hell.
- 3:38[SPEAKER_03]: It's almost like Jesus took this seriously.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_03]: Three times in one message, Jesus spoke of hell.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_03]: He did not speak lightly.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_03]: He did not speak figuratively.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_03]: He told his listeners that hell is so dreadful, so fearsome, so final.
- 3:53[SPEAKER_03]: That it would be better to lose an eye or lose a hand than to enter eternity unprepared.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_03]: Later Matthew chapter 10 Jesus reinforced the fearfulness of this eternal judgment.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_03]: Matthew 10 28, and fear not that which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul, but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_03]: Matthew 13 Jesus described the final judgment of the wicked,
- 4:20[SPEAKER_03]: in some unmistakable terms, the son of man shall send forth his angels and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend and with them which do iniquity, and shall cast them into a furnace of fire.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_03]: They shall be wailing, and gnashing of teeth.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_03]: Matthew 18, he warned again about the hand or foot offending the, the cut it off and cast it from the, it's better for the, to enter into life, halt or maim than having, rather than having two hands or feet to be cast into everlasting fire, everlasting fire, everlasting fire.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_03]: Matthew 23, continue on.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_03]: You serpent, she generation of diapers.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_03]: How can you escape the
- 5:08[SPEAKER_03]: And if I hand the phantom, similar to what we've previously read, but Mark's gospel, and if I hand the phantom cut it off, it is better for them to enter into life-mamed than having two hands to go into hell into the fire that shall never be quenched, where the worm die not, and the fire is not quenched.
- 5:30[SPEAKER_03]: And the continues on.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_03]: In Luke talking about the rich man lifting of his eyes being in torments, seeing Abraham a far off, Lazarus and his bosom, he says that Richmond does, I am tormented in this flame.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_03]: He was aware.
- 5:45[SPEAKER_03]: He was conscious that Richmond was.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_03]: He could feel like good
- 5:50[SPEAKER_03]: Hell is not a annihilation.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_03]: It's not a kicker with your friends hanging out with the devil.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_03]: Hell is not so sleep.
- 5:58[SPEAKER_03]: Hell is not a state of unconsciousness.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_03]: Hell is torment and it's real.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_03]: So why did Jesus speak this way?
- 6:07[SPEAKER_03]: more than not, he spoke of hell with directness.
- 6:11[SPEAKER_03]: Why?
- 6:11[SPEAKER_03]: Because he came to save us from it.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_03]: He wasn't attempting to terrify people for entertainment.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_03]: He wasn't trying to manipulate emotions.
- 6:20[SPEAKER_03]: He spoke of hell because hell is real.
- 6:23[SPEAKER_03]: And sometimes the most gracious and loving thing you can do is war in someone and tell them the truth.
- 6:29[SPEAKER_03]: If a bridge ahead is out, a loving person does not whisper, if a house on fire, the loving person does not speak in gentle hints, and a come out of the house, no, you get people's attention, souls are in danger.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_03]: They were in Jesus' time, and they still are today.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_03]: You might say, He's hell, really necessary.
- 6:51[SPEAKER_03]: Why would it love in God's sending you one there?
- 6:54[SPEAKER_03]: Well, understand, God does not desire that any should perish.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_03]: Sanket Peter, three nine says, the Lord is not slack and certain is promised as some men count slackness, but as long as suffering to us, where it means he's got a lot of patience, he's very kind, very gracious, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_03]: But yet, Jesus taught plainly that the unbelieving, the unrepentant, the Christ rejecting will face eternal judgment.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_03]: God has already done everything necessary to keep you out of hell.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_03]: He gave you His Word, He gave you His Son, He gave you the preaching of the gospel.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_03]: That's what you're listening to right now.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_03]: Not because I'm someone special, not because of my words, not because of my oratorical ability.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_03]: But it's from God.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_03]: He gives opportunity after opportunity, what more could he do?
- 7:52[SPEAKER_03]: Hell exists, not because God is cruel, but because mankind is sinful and rebellious, and because God is holy and just and true.
- 8:05[SPEAKER_03]: There's an urgency.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_03]: In eternity, friend, you're not guaranteed tomorrow.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_03]: You're not guaranteed another breath.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_03]: Every cemetery you drive past, every funeral procession with those blinking lights, every obituary reminds us, death is certain.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_03]: But after death, we don't cease to exist.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_03]: Hebrews 927 tells us, and as it is appointed unto men once to die,
- 8:34[SPEAKER_03]: but after this, the judgment.
- 8:36[SPEAKER_03]: Dr. Paul Avine, we're gonna hear from him in just a moment.
- 8:39[SPEAKER_03]: He understood this deeply.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_03]: He founded Bible Trek's incorporated with one great burden to warn men and women about the dangers of a crisis eternity.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_03]: That's the reason our ministry began.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_03]: It was to place the truth of the gospel into as many hands as possible.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_03]: from the day BTI opened in 1938.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_03]: The message has been consistent.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_03]: Hell is real, sin is deadly, judgment is coming, Jesus saves.
- 9:05[SPEAKER_03]: That is the word of God to all the world.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_03]: It's not a new message, it's not a trend, it's not a reaction to cultural shifts.
- 9:13[SPEAKER_03]: This is the Bible.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_03]: This is what Christ preached.
- 9:16[SPEAKER_03]: This is what Dr. Paul Levine proclaimed for decades.
- 9:20[SPEAKER_03]: And this is a message we continue to declare today.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_03]: Hell isn't popular, but it's true.
- 9:27[SPEAKER_03]: Hell is not comfortable, but it is necessary to preach.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_03]: Hell is not pleasant to hear about, but ignoring it doesn't make it disappear.
- 9:38[SPEAKER_03]: The flames of hell do not cool because a preacher grossed timid.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_03]: Perhaps you're listening today and thinking, I don't know if I'm saved or I hope I'm saved but I'm not sure or I know I'm not ready to meet God.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_03]: Hear me carefully.
- 10:00[SPEAKER_03]: You do not have to go to hell.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_03]: Jesus shed his blood for you.
- 10:04[SPEAKER_03]: Jesus took your judgment.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_03]: He bore your sin.
- 10:06[SPEAKER_03]: He died so that you can claim salvation.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_03]: Romans 5, 8, but God commendeth his love toward us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_03]: John 146, Jesus say that to him, I am the way, the truth and the life, no man come with unto the Father but by me, you must choose him.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_03]: You must repent and believe you must come to Christ while they are still time.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_03]: As we close this week-long emphasis, I want to say something that is very important.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_03]: This has never been a peripheral issue for biotracks incorporated, Dr. Paul felt as burdened profoundly and we do today.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_03]: Just a moment, you're going to hear a two-minute plea from Dr. Paul recorded in 1980.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_03]: This is a close of the message we've been hearing this week.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_03]: His voice might be from another era, but the message is as urgent today as it was then.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_03]: Friend after Dr. Paul finishes, the announcer is going to come on.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_03]: They'll tell you how you can contact us if you have questions about your soul.
- 11:03[SPEAKER_03]: If you need some to pray with you, you want to know more about how to be saved, do not hesitate to reach out.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_03]: Eternity is too long to be wrong.
- 11:12[SPEAKER_03]: And now, here is Dr. Paul of E.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_01]: So what should you do about it?
- 11:16[SPEAKER_01]: You should get saved.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_01]: The Bible says that everybody who dies in their sins will go to hell.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_01]: The Lord Jesus said, John 821, if you believe not that I am, that's the same I am as the God of the Old Testament who said I am.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_01]: If you're mitten, believe not that I am.
- 11:28[SPEAKER_01]: Or that I am, he shall die in your sins that where I go, you cannot come.
- 11:32[SPEAKER_01]: All right?
- 11:32[SPEAKER_01]: How long's hell going last going last forever?
- 11:34[SPEAKER_01]: Who's going to go there?
- 11:35[SPEAKER_01]: We've mentioned a few.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_01]: How can you escape it?
- 11:38[SPEAKER_01]: Let's God just escape, listen.
- 11:39[SPEAKER_01]: The Bible says we can be saved from wrath.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_01]: That's the wrath of God through Jesus Christ.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_01]: But in the mind, you can't be saved from God's wrath through a church, through a logic, through a religion, through a waterbath, to see you taking the Lord's cover, or by being a religious or anything that you're going to be saved from God's wrath, through a person, that person to Jesus Christ.
- 11:58[SPEAKER_01]: Now listen.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_01]: 1900 years ago he was born of a virgin.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_01]: He lived a perfectly sinless life and then they nailed him on a cross and while he was on that cross he took your sins.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: Every sin you've ever committed or ever will.
- 12:09[SPEAKER_01]: And mine and all of our sins and took our sins upon himself and paid for our sins by dying in our place.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_01]: Isn't that good news?
- 12:18[SPEAKER_01]: The wages of sin is death.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_01]: You said scares me.
- 12:20[SPEAKER_01]: I know it ought to scare you.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_01]: But Jesus Christ went to the cross to take your death.
- 12:24[SPEAKER_01]: Now he died in your place took your sins.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_01]: He's available to you tonight.
- 12:30[SPEAKER_01]: Tonight, you can be saved from your sins.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_01]: You can be forgiven of every sin you've ever committed.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_01]: You can have your past blotted out and wiped out and cast into the depths of the sea, and toss behind God's back, and remove from yours fire as he's just from the west.
- 12:44[SPEAKER_01]: You can have forgiveness.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_01]: You can have peace.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_01]: You can have everlasting life, and you can be saved forever from the damn nation of an eternal hell.
- 12:50[SPEAKER_01]: And if you're a Christian, and you're sin that's come into your life, you can be forgiven of that sin if you're confessing to God,
- 12:58[SPEAKER_01]: You're in for a big drawback, but tonight there's hope for you, and tonight you're going to have peace and tonight you can get the sin business settled in your life.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_00]: God bless you.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_00]: I want you to get it settled before it's too late.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_00]: Don't put it all.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_00]: Don't put it all.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_00]: Be far too late.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_00]: Get it settled.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_00]: Get it settled.
