- 0:06Hello. What's your least favorite scary
- 0:08movie? Don't be coy, avoid or make void
- 0:12the topic because that ain't going to stop it.
- 0:14Now we talk about sex on the radio and video shows many will
- 0:17know anything goes. Let's tell it like it is and how
- 0:19it could be how it was and of course how it should be.
- 0:22Let's talk about sex baby. Well, going to watch your least
- 0:25favorite Scary movie, The podcast where we talk about the
- 0:28good, the bad, the ugly, and the absurd in all of our favorite.
- 0:31Family's. Favorite scary movies?
- 0:33Because we believe every horror movie rightfully has its fan
- 0:35base even. If we don't always get it.
- 0:37My name is Travis. My name is.
- 0:38Justin and welcome everybody to our Patreon voted episode.
- 0:42This month we are talking about Cherry Falls.
- 0:47This is also our Valentine's Day episode.
- 0:50I know tomorrow is Valentine's Day for all You Beautiful
- 0:53people. So we got you all hot and heavy
- 0:56movie. Yeah, to really get this enjoy
- 0:59that was. Gonna say something gross so I'm
- 1:01glad you finished that Sunday. Yeah, sorry, we just got off our
- 1:05Tokyo Gore police episode. Our minds in really weird place.
- 1:09That's why. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:11It's hard to jump from that to this, but we're gonna do that
- 1:14today. Indeed we are.
- 1:16Yeah. The only announcement I have is
- 1:18that we covered our 2B or Not to Be episode this past weekend and
- 1:21it was on Tokyo Gore Police. So be sure to go check out both
- 1:24our episode and the movie itself.
- 1:26Yep, watch the movie first if possible.
- 1:29If not, then go on that journey with us.
- 1:31Yeah, I really, I, I'm pretty sure I said on the episode,
- 1:34like, I feel like we could tell you everything that's going to
- 1:36happen in the movie and it's still not going to feel real
- 1:38until you're watching it yourself, so.
- 1:40And I, I backed that up. I think that that's accurate.
- 1:43All right, so we have our poll from last week.
- 1:47We talked about Blink twice and we just wanted to ask everybody
- 1:52how real is brunch? How real is it?
- 1:55So 14% have said sqrt -1. Jesse, please explain to the
- 2:03people what that means. It's not a real number.
- 2:06That would mean brunch is not real.
- 2:08OK. Thank you.
- 2:09Sqrt -1 = I. It's I people.
- 2:13It's not even a number. So 14% said I I, 29% said I've
- 2:22heard of it, and 57% so fucking real.
- 2:27God brunch is so fucking real man.
- 2:30Brunch is fucking real. So fucking real.
- 2:32So, so fucking real wins. It's it's deemed yeah.
- 2:36So it is spoken. So it is written.
- 2:39Yes. OK, so now with all of that out
- 2:43of the way, how about we get into Cherry Falls?
- 2:45Oh, that's boy. Hop on over into.
- 2:49Virginia, OK, OK. OK, Cherry Falls released May of
- 2:561999. Don't have the exact date.
- 2:59OK, just some just all of may it's.
- 3:01Just like it was a whole 2. Minutes a day.
- 3:03The entire the entire month of May?
- 3:06Yep. I'm bad at math.
- 3:07That's fine. It premiered at the Cannes Film
- 3:09Festival and it had it's a wide release on August 25th, 2000.
- 3:14OK, we watched it on our Blu-ray.
- 3:17It is available as of today, which is the month of February.
- 3:23Yeah, you can watch it on AMC. Or file.
- 3:27Or file OK file that didn't come up for me.
- 3:29I just looked it up, post where to watch OK.
- 3:32So in all AMC and file. There you go.
- 3:35If you want to rent it, I'm sorry I've got bad news for you.
- 3:39You can't rent this one. This is one that you either have
- 3:42to own or you have to have that streaming service.
- 3:44Yeah. So if you don't want to blind by
- 3:47the movie or if you're not friends with us in person like
- 3:49we are doing with some people, we're we're loaning out the
- 3:52Blu-ray. If you know us, come see us.
- 3:55If we trust you, we'll let you take the Blu-ray.
- 4:00Yeah. But if not, I suggest just
- 4:04getting a trial to AMC Plus or something if you don't want to
- 4:07subscribe to a full month. Or you can just do a full month
- 4:10for like $5.00. I don't know how much that is
- 4:13over there. Or you can just own a pretty
- 4:14solid screen factory disk. Yeah, it's super cheap.
- 4:17It's only $11.00 with tax. So yeah, I, that's what I did.
- 4:22I bought it. I, we, we did not own this.
- 4:25And then I. Have no regrets, not even a
- 4:28single letter. No.
- 4:30On owning this. I don't either, you know, like
- 4:33it was I, I knew what we were getting.
- 4:35We watched it one time a long time ago back on shutter
- 4:38whenever it hit that like I think two years ago or something
- 4:41like that. I.
- 4:41Think it was last year. Might have been, I don't know,
- 4:44we watched it some time ago. This.
- 4:45Is my third time watching it in total and I will tell you all my
- 4:49journey with it when we get to discussion but.
- 4:51This is my second, so yeah. OK, so it's written by Ken
- 4:56Seleden, directed by Jeffrey Wright, music by Walter Wurzawa,
- 5:00and special effects makeup Jessie by K and BFX.
- 5:05My sweet babies, of course they did this movie.
- 5:10Yep, starring Brittany Murphy and probably the one and only
- 5:15time we'll talk about her on the show.
- 5:17Unfortunately, unless she's done other horror stuff good, I don't
- 5:21know. I'm planning to take Travis on a
- 5:23Brittany Murphy journey sometime soon.
- 5:26I'm 100% on board. I love Brittany Murphy, so she
- 5:29plays Jodie Marken. Michael Bean plays Sheriff
- 5:33Marken, Jay Moore as Mr. Marlinson, Gabriel Mann as Kenny
- 5:38Ascot, Natalie Ramsey as Sandy Candy Quark as Morgan or No
- 5:43Marge Marken, Joe Insco as Tom Sizzler, and Amanda Anka as
- 5:49Deputy Minya. OK, Jesse, time for our favorite
- 5:53game on the show. Budget or bugtad?
- 5:57Now why the fuck can you do that when we have all of the editing
- 6:00capabilities? I'm warmed up now.
- 6:02I couldn't fucking talk at the start of Tokyo Corps Police, and
- 6:04then I was left speechless, OK, And now I've got all my words
- 6:09ready for Cherry Falls, only to become speechless again here
- 6:11shortly. Yeah, yeah, yeah, there.
- 6:13There aren't words for this, but.
- 6:15Yeah. So what do you think?
- 6:18I think this is I'm. I think it's bug Ted, but like
- 6:22high bug Ted. OK, you would be surprised this
- 6:26is a budget. Really.
- 6:28This was a $14 million production.
- 6:30Dang, and that's 14,000,000 and 90s money.
- 6:33Yeah, this is a pretty decent little summit change right
- 6:36there. Opening box office and worldwide
- 6:39gross are non existent. And that is because this movie
- 6:43did not hit theaters. Yeah, over here at least I think
- 6:45it hit international theaters. OK.
- 6:48But yeah, I don't have any figures for that.
- 6:50God, all the other countries have cool moms.
- 6:54Yeah, IMDb 5.3 outs in. You know, I'm actually kind of
- 7:01surprised. That's fair I guess.
- 7:05I don't know. I personally I'd pump that
- 7:06number up. A bit.
- 7:07I would pump the number up. I'm just having a pulse on how
- 7:11IMDb generally tends to rate things.
- 7:13I'm surprised. Yeah, that's all.
- 7:16OK, so I have pulled us three other movies from 1999 to
- 7:20compare this one to. OK And the theme for these 3
- 7:24movies? A little bit of love.
- 7:29That's right, these are all feature love stories.
- 7:33Are you gonna talk like that? The whole time.
- 7:36All right, so first movie, so audition.
- 7:42You God damn it. That's right, we get Ihishina
- 7:49all up in this piece 2 episodes in a row.
- 7:54Yep. So that movie, do I need to say
- 7:58for those unaware, it's about a guy that's trying to get a
- 8:01girlfriend. So he has this whole thing where
- 8:03he has these girls auditioned to be his girlfriend.
- 8:07And I'm going to, we're just going to leave it there and
- 8:11Little Tiny Kitties. And then if you don't know, go
- 8:14find out. But that movie released October
- 8:172nd. Good one to just go in blind to
- 8:19one. 100% don't. There's yeah, you need to go in
- 8:22blind to that one if you don't know anything about it.
- 8:24So that movie came out October 2nd, 1999.
- 8:27Don't have the budget but it grossed $362,000.
- 8:32IMDb scores 7.1. Yeah.
- 8:36That's a solid movie. Really.
- 8:38Really. Yes.
- 8:39All right, movie #2 this is one that I, I originally was wanting
- 8:45to cover for my Tubi or not to be, but it's not on Tubi.
- 8:50Oh no, yeah, that kind of really puts a damper on that plan.
- 8:54Yeah, well, this is one that I feel like could be a Valentine's
- 8:57Day movies, maybe next year. And it's called Lover's Lane.
- 9:02OK. So this one may be cheating a
- 9:05little bit. It came up anytime I looked up
- 9:071999 horror movies but the release date has it in the
- 9:102000s. But I said fuck it because I
- 9:13wanted to include it anyways. I've had that happen sometimes.
- 9:17Sometimes that just happens and you get really excited about a
- 9:19theme and you write it down and then it's it's.
- 9:21Whatever. No, I was already all in on
- 9:23this, but it's like a Valentine's Day slasher movie.
- 9:27It is one of Anna Faris's first movies.
- 9:30Anna. Faris.
- 9:33Uh huh. Yeah.
- 9:34So that's one of the main reasons I really wanted to watch
- 9:36it. She's in the slasher.
- 9:37It's one of her first roles. Seems like it'd be fun time.
- 9:41So don't have Budget Wardrose on that but the IMDb is a 4.2.
- 9:45OK. And the final movie, another one
- 9:48that neither of us have seen. It's a trauma flick.
- 9:51Oh boy. It's titled Terror Firmer.
- 9:54OK, I feel like I've heard of it.
- 9:56You probably have so it's a movie about it's it takes place
- 10:04on the set of a trauma film like that is in the process of being
- 10:07shot and. Meta.
- 10:09Yeah, I almost called it like the new nightmare of Lloyd
- 10:13Kaufman. So.
- 10:15Lloyd Kaufman, Jesus. Lloyd Kaufman's New Nightmare.
- 10:19Yeah, yeah, yeah. There's like a love triangle
- 10:23going on there between like the actor and like two other people
- 10:26and then there's somebody going around killing the people.
- 10:28Yeah, we've never seen it, but you know, it has love going on
- 10:32and there's like a whole theme with that.
- 10:34So that released June 20th 1999 with a $500,000 budget and don't
- 10:40have the gross but the IMDb. Shockingly for a trauma film 6.1
- 10:44and out of 10 Dang. Good job, Yeah.
- 10:47All right, good. Job, Dad.
- 10:49Oh yeah I forgot weed coffin claim this is our his children.
- 10:54OK so I have tag lines. The one that is on the poster.
- 11:01Lose your innocence or lose your life.
- 11:05That's. Really, really good.
- 11:06They had some good tag lines here.
- 11:10Next up, Innocence has never been deadlier.
- 11:14That one's not that great. Yeah.
- 11:15At Virgin High, it's put out or die.
- 11:21That's kind of similar to the chants that they were doing in
- 11:25the movie where, let's see, what was it the kids like they take
- 11:30over the town. Yeah, I can't remember.
- 11:35Hail, hail virgin high. Drop your pants.
- 11:37Let's fuck or die. Oh, there we go.
- 11:38I don't think you can put that on the tagline, but yeah, then
- 11:42can't. If you're not a wuss.
- 11:44Can't on this podcast. We ain't wusses here.
- 11:47OK, If you haven't had it, you've had it.
- 11:52That's pretty good. I don't.
- 11:53Like it? You don't think it?
- 11:54No. It's good.
- 11:55No. I think it's pretty good.
- 11:57You get it right. You've had it like you're done.
- 12:00You're you're killed. It's over.
- 12:03I mean, I get it, I just don't like it.
- 12:04OK, like. I I understood the joke.
- 12:08Are you smart enough to get it? Jesse?
- 12:10This is very high. Big brain material going on
- 12:13here, OK? Big brain, I'm winning again.
- 12:15I get a yes, it's. Only for the people that can't
- 12:17talk, we get it. So it's ours.
- 12:22It's. Your thing OK.
- 12:24What would you give to live and then the final get laid or die?
- 12:33That was so uninspired. Yeah, that one's a little Wait,
- 12:36wait. Yep.
- 12:38OK, so let's move on over to fun facts.
- 12:41OK, I'm excited for some fun facts.
- 12:43You took full advantage of those special features.
- 12:46I did, yeah, in. Our Blu-ray.
- 12:47Didn't watch every single one of them.
- 12:49There were some archive interviews with Brittany Murphy
- 12:51and Jeffrey Wright and a few other people, but I watched like
- 12:54most of it. And there's also you can read
- 12:56the script too. That's really cool.
- 12:58Yeah, it's. Another feature and this is
- 13:00again all for $11.00 so. Yeah, yeah.
- 13:03OK, so let's just get this right out the gate here.
- 13:08Old Ken Selden, the writer of this movie, The reason the whole
- 13:12reason he wanted to write this movie in the 1st place is
- 13:14because he wanted to write a movie with a teenage orgy in it.
- 13:18I like, I don't feel like I would go on tape saying that.
- 13:21And he was so proud of it. And he let off this special
- 13:24feature was like, so let's get it clear.
- 13:26Like, I, I really wanted to write a teenage orgy.
- 13:29And I'm like, that's so fucking weird, why are you telling me
- 13:32this? I wouldn't say that.
- 13:33Stephen King did that, and we as his fans collectively agreed to
- 13:37never discuss it unless we're discussing things we're
- 13:39uncomfortable with. I don't think that they were
- 13:41teens. I think that.
- 13:42That they were even younger, yeah.
- 13:44That's worse. Thank you the people in the
- 13:47comments saying actually it wasn't an orgy it was a trade.
- 13:50Are you fucking kidding me? Shut the fuck up.
- 13:54We're talking about orgy semantics now.
- 13:56I. Don't.
- 13:58Know orgy, I ain't having it. Not today.
- 14:04So he knew that Hollywood would not go for that unless he jammed
- 14:09a killer in there. So he did.
- 14:13And we have Cherry Falls because of this.
- 14:16So he wrote it in three months, shopped it around.
- 14:21Within two weeks it was optioned.
- 14:24It's going to be a flagship release for October films.
- 14:27Very first movie. Like we're going out the gate
- 14:29with teenage orgies with the hint of killing.
- 14:34I got shown to a lot of directors, one of them being
- 14:37David Lynch. I I was trying not to listen
- 14:41into stuff, but I heard David Lynch and I went, Wait, what?
- 14:44Yeah, and he gave it a read and he's like, you know what, I like
- 14:47it, but I've got something else that I'm wanting to do, so I'm
- 14:51going to. They described it and there's
- 14:54politely past. But Can you imagine Cherry Falls
- 14:57but directed by David Lynch? Yeah, I mean, it seems up his
- 15:00alley, honestly. Oh my God.
- 15:02Yeah, So ended up falling into Jeffrey Wright, who is an
- 15:07Australian director, really wanted to break into Hollywood,
- 15:09wanted to prove himself. He did a movie with Russell
- 15:12Crowe over in Australia, and, you know, that had some buzz.
- 15:15So this is a shot. Reggae.
- 15:17Yeah. So he accepted.
- 15:20He did his own script pass. So originally when Ken Sultan
- 15:25wrote the movie, it was more like a satirical take on
- 15:30slashers, is supposed to be more lighthearted and make fun of the
- 15:33whole thing. Well, I mean, I can kind of see
- 15:36that because it is taking the whole like only the virgin
- 15:38survives and it's like the exact opposite.
- 15:41Exactly. So Jeffrey made it more tonally
- 15:45dark. So he he said he didn't change
- 15:48much about the script, but he changed the tone, made it
- 15:50darker. So he really wanted to go for a
- 15:52Vertigo type aesthetic with it and.
- 15:56I mean, I didn't get really a Vertigo aesthetic, but I didn't
- 15:59either. You know, and he, he, he's also
- 16:02the reason why the rape scene was added into the movie.
- 16:05OK, cool, so just both of these greasy men just.
- 16:09Yeah, yeah. They're trying to make it as
- 16:13unpleasant as possible. So production ran behind.
- 16:18It was just not really going well.
- 16:20Budget ramped up way higher than it meant to be it.
- 16:23I don't think this was meant to be a $14 million movie, but.
- 16:26Yeah, from the first time studio, Yeah, yeah, but.
- 16:29They were trying to go out the gate hard, man.
- 16:31They they really wanted it to be a big, big banger right here.
- 16:34Are you doing all of these puns on purpose?
- 16:36I swear to God I'm not. You are like a basketball
- 16:40commentator right now. You're just talking about ball
- 16:44handling now. He's got his hands all over
- 16:46those balls right now. He's he's got a beautiful
- 16:49stroke. Swear to God this is shit that
- 16:51comes out of like basketball commentators.
- 16:53If you if you want to get drunk during a basketball game, the
- 16:55only drinking game you need to play is.
- 16:57Every time a commentator says something that sounds like a
- 16:59sexual innuendo, you will be you'll get.
- 17:02Lit fucked up, yeah. It's a great time because you
- 17:04also get to watch basketball. Yeah.
- 17:07So yeah, it got really bad. They had to end up cutting some
- 17:10material from being shot because they just couldn't do it.
- 17:12They had to rush scene. So we may have some rush
- 17:15performances here in this movie. OK.
- 17:17But, you know, if if anything seems like that was the case,
- 17:20it's because it was. That's what happened here.
- 17:23If it seems like they didn't have enough time, it's because
- 17:25they didn't have enough time. Yep, so they got it finished.
- 17:30One of the other changes that happened here is the orgy scene
- 17:33was originally going to be just a bunch of the teens all in
- 17:37their cuddle puddle, but it was going to be.
- 17:41Follow snakes. Yeah, they were all going to be
- 17:43covered in sheets and there were going to be splotches of blood
- 17:48all over the place. This dude had.
- 17:52This was what this dude wanted this shit to be.
- 17:54This is the whole reason he wrote this script.
- 17:56And Jeffrey Wright was like, no, they're all going to be naked,
- 18:02no sheets. It's going to be full blown
- 18:04nudity. MPAA was not having any of that.
- 18:08The one time, the one time you all will hear me say this and
- 18:12thank God for the MPAA stepping Ed.
- 18:14Yeah, so like they actually filmed all of them butt ass
- 18:18naked. They're having a fuck fest.
- 18:20Oh my God. And yeah, the MBAA was like, no,
- 18:23this is an X-rated movie. And they were contractually they
- 18:27were, they were contractually obligated to bring an R rated
- 18:31cut to October films for the release.
- 18:33This had to be R rating. So they got that all chopped up
- 18:38and ended up just being like completely massacred, which to
- 18:42consultants dismay, left him in shame.
- 18:48Ken Sultan needs a babysitter for some of his thoughts and
- 18:51emotions. He really does.
- 18:52He needs like a like APR person to take a Passover.
- 18:54His fucking words. OK, so the film finished sold
- 18:59internationally, did well, I can people liked it sold right away.
- 19:04USA, though, they're like, Nah, we're not we're not doing this.
- 19:09This is apparently going on. Sorry, did you forget that the
- 19:12you that the United States of America was founded by Puritans?
- 19:17Yeah. So that left their country
- 19:19because they thought they weren't strict enough.
- 19:22So think about that. We are here at this time in the
- 19:281999 era and this is when Sin is having this big hearing about
- 19:33sex and media and it was a big topic.
- 19:37And that's really rough for a film production company trying
- 19:42to break into the industry. So their flagship film, they're
- 19:45like, we can't release that in America under this climate.
- 19:48So it will release internationally, but in the
- 19:52United States, it released on the USA Network on TV.
- 19:56It became America's most expensive made for TV movie.
- 20:02I want, you know how our Tremors DVD has like the side by side of
- 20:07the TV edits? Yeah, I want that for this, but
- 20:13it'll just be like the scene in the version we saw and then the
- 20:17scene not existing. I am legitimately curious how
- 20:21this plays on TV on American TV in the 90s.
- 20:25We're we're now now you can get shit out there.
- 20:27You can have hoops you can have. You can have pee pee.
- 20:30You can say shit. You can say shit now.
- 20:33You can say God damn. You can say fuck if you want to.
- 20:36Yeah, on the right, on the right channel.
- 20:37You could always do that. You were just going to lose
- 20:39advertisers. I think now we have, like, these
- 20:42premium networks that don't do ads.
- 20:44Yeah, like HBO and stuff like that.
- 20:47FX is one that has gotten away with that in Comedy Central,
- 20:50too. You can get pretty raunchy on
- 20:52there. But, yeah, USA Network, that's
- 20:56where this went. And yeah, most expensive movie
- 21:00to ever air on TV or premiere on TV.
- 21:04So that's it. That's it for my fun facts.
- 21:07So let's get into our good, bad, ugly and absurd.
- 21:10Jesse, kick it off. What did you like about this?
- 21:14OK, so as I said before, I've seen this movie a total of three
- 21:17times in my life, and the first time it was in high school at a
- 21:20friend's house. And you know how you've always
- 21:23got one friend that it's like kind of lawless, not because the
- 21:27parents are like, whatever, but just because they we're just
- 21:32like, yeah, they're like, go down to the basement and do
- 21:34whatever you want. It's fine.
- 21:35Yeah. No, that was my, that was, I was
- 21:37that friend. People would come over to my
- 21:39house because like, oh, we can watch Resident Evil.
- 21:41We can watch Jackass. Like I had friends over whenever
- 21:44Jackass premieres. Like, yeah, come over.
- 21:46Like we can do that shit here. Yeah.
- 21:48And so I was at a friend's house for this.
- 21:49I was actually friends with both her and her brother.
- 21:52And so I'd been over at that house plenty of times and I was
- 21:55staying the night. I was down in the basement and
- 21:57we were watching just movies. And I remember at one point this
- 22:01movie was put on. Wait how old were like what year
- 22:05was this around the time they premiered?
- 22:07Or no, this is in high school. OK, so sometime between 2006 and
- 22:112010. OK, I cannot be more specific
- 22:14than that. That's no.
- 22:16She was a year younger than me so I was at least 10th grade
- 22:18because she was in high school too.
- 22:20OK. So we've narrowed it.
- 22:21Down. We've narrowed it down South,
- 22:222007 to 2010. So this movie, like, I just
- 22:30remember watching this and I was like, this feels like it's
- 22:33making fun of horror movies and I really don't know what to
- 22:37think about it. And for the longest time, I
- 22:41thought that it was like a fever dream.
- 22:44And then last year, Shudder was like, guess what?
- 22:47Cherry Falls is coming to Shudder.
- 22:50And I grabbed Travis by the arm and I said, oh, my God, this
- 22:53movie is real. And he was like, what are you
- 22:55talking about? And I was like, it's this movie
- 22:57where they have to have sex so they don't die.
- 22:59And he was like, I'm confused, but we're watching it.
- 23:04It just, it was a relief to know that it wasn't something I had
- 23:08made-up. And I very specifically remember
- 23:10the scene with Cindy, like giving her little speech to
- 23:13everybody. Oh yeah.
- 23:15Like it's, it's just weird. I think the third time doing,
- 23:19watching this the third time, I'm fully able to appreciate all
- 23:22the facets of the movie. But I think Brittany Murphy, I
- 23:25mean, she's just, she's a star. She's incredible.
- 23:29I think the whole premise is very silly.
- 23:31And I don't think this movie is afraid of being silly.
- 23:34I don't know necessarily that that was the intention of
- 23:37everybody involved from what you've said in your fun facts.
- 23:41He he wanted it to be silly. The writer did.
- 23:44The writer did. The director did not he he took
- 23:46a very serious tone to it. I, I think it is like a really
- 23:51fun twist on horror movies. And I think that's part of the
- 23:55reason why. Like, I had such a hard time
- 23:57believing it was real. Just to think that this movie
- 23:59could have come out around that time and it'd be all about,
- 24:03like, kids losing their virginity so they're not
- 24:07murdered. Like, that's the opposite of
- 24:09most horror moving messaging up until that point, you know?
- 24:12Yeah. Well, I think that that kind of
- 24:13falls in line. I mean this is a post Scream
- 24:15world at this point and I think that people were wanting to fuck
- 24:18with the tropes. Yeah, for sure, time and I just
- 24:21like every time I watch it, like I mean, yeah, there are
- 24:24definitely some things that kind of made me yeek, but I I do
- 24:27think it's an underappreciated and undersold movie.
- 24:31Was that AJ USO ye make you want yeet.
- 24:35I didn't say yeet, I say yeesh. I heard yeet.
- 24:39Yeah, well, that's because your brain is damaged.
- 24:42All you hear anymore is yeet and.
- 24:45Us. Come on us.
- 24:46You are. Don't.
- 24:48Don't be like that to me. Listen y'all, he drew Jay USO's
- 24:52number in the Royal Rumble. He wasn't like this before
- 24:55February 1st. Yeah, it's a OK.
- 25:02Yeah. You got anything else?
- 25:04That's just the I just think all around it's a really fun movie,
- 25:07so. Yeah, I I do like the twist on
- 25:11the whole version being the like one who gets the killing blow.
- 25:18And this right here, it's a fun twist on that formula.
- 25:22It is a movie that it gets weird and it like has a good time
- 25:28getting weird and I have fun watching it get weird.
- 25:31Like it's a different like we watched this and then we watched
- 25:34Tokyo Gore Police. If we had done in the opposite,
- 25:37I don't know how I would have been desensitized.
- 25:39Yeah, I think this was the right order to watch the men.
- 25:42Yeah, I like the killer. It's just like really like the
- 25:46mannerisms is really, really creepy.
- 25:49Like the like with the face being covered with hair.
- 25:52Yeah, well, we did that in Tokyo.
- 25:54Gore beliefs too. We do.
- 25:55Yeah. Like the whole scene when, like,
- 25:59a, like, knock on the door. Yeah, like, as early as your
- 26:03mom. Your mom didn't tell you I was
- 26:04coming, Andy. Sherman is leaving a nude for
- 26:07your mother. Oh my God, yeah.
- 26:08It was like so fucking creepy. I like, I mean, that's the cool
- 26:12thing. I feel like that was way that it
- 26:14benefited, where like, it leaned into the horror whenever the
- 26:18horror was there. I feel like if we follow the
- 26:21original script, we may have like probably made it a little
- 26:26bit less serious and more campy. I think the script was calling
- 26:30for campy. And this is one of those rare
- 26:33moments where I'm like actually playing it straight.
- 26:35This kind of. I think it to the benefit of it.
- 26:38Yeah. Because I think if you take this
- 26:41movie to Campy, you could have fun with it, but I think that it
- 26:45gets too silly at that point. I think that this movie needed
- 26:49to be like grounded just a tad to really work because like,
- 26:54that's what makes the payoff at the end that much better because
- 26:59I'm bought into the whole story. And then whenever the killer
- 27:02gets there and starts actually slashing all of the fucking
- 27:05teenagers there. Yeah.
- 27:07That's such a cool scene. You don't expect that.
- 27:11I think this movie has some great humor to it.
- 27:14My favorite is the part at the town hall where.
- 27:18Where he's like, I need to lock my daughter in the base and he's
- 27:20like, I don't think you need to worry about that.
- 27:22Victoria, he's like, what the fuck did you say to me?
- 27:27Old fire OPS, the scene where Sheriff Merkin is going up to
- 27:34Jodie is like, I got to ask you, how far have you gone with
- 27:38Kenny? And she's like, don't worry dad,
- 27:40I haven't gone far and he's so disappointed.
- 27:43It goes the opposite of how you expect the scene dog go the
- 27:47fact. That she has to ask him, are you
- 27:49disappointed that I'm. Not it's so fucking weird, yeah,
- 27:53but like, I think it's funny too, Yeah, like.
- 27:57Oh, it's hilarious, but also it's really uncomfortable and I
- 28:00like knowing everything that he has said about writing the
- 28:05script. I feel a little bit icky
- 28:07laughing at those moments now. A little bit, yeah.
- 28:09Yeah, it is a little bit icky. I think maybe, I don't know.
- 28:16I think, again, maybe he was expecting it to be played a
- 28:18little bit more silly, but they acted and performed that whole
- 28:24thing straight and I think that that made it better.
- 28:26Yeah, you just. Look at Brittany Murphy's big,
- 28:28sad eyes. Yeah, but it also like it.
- 28:31It just like it, it got me to buy into it more.
- 28:33I think with it being like that, because if she hammed that up
- 28:36and if he hammed that up, I don't know if I would have been
- 28:39as on board with the whole thing.
- 28:41OK. So OK, that's probably good to
- 28:44say. Let's talk about some bad.
- 28:46OK, I am saying this as a writer who is bad at coming up with
- 28:53names. Oh yeah.
- 28:55The names in this are not good. Like this is the type of shit
- 29:00that I would write for characters like in middle
- 29:02school. Like, oh, we're going to name
- 29:04him Kenny Ascot, but we're going to put an extra tea on there.
- 29:08So it's like the clothing guy, but it's not.
- 29:11Or like, we're going to call them Marken and it's a joke,
- 29:14'cause it's like Merkin. But it's not like, wait, I
- 29:17don't. Get that?
- 29:18Merkin is like a. Oh, really?
- 29:20Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 29:24So like I just the the names that are like, oh, we've got
- 29:27Sandy, who's the good girlfriend, but we've also got
- 29:30Cindy. She's like Sandy, but with Sin.
- 29:32Oh, it's deep. Like, again, I'm not good at
- 29:37names. Names are a skill that you have
- 29:40to work on, and this man did not.
- 29:45Yeah, but Tom Sizzler. Tom Sizzler.
- 29:51Sizzling. So yeah, there's that.
- 29:55And then there's also just like hymens don't just break from sex
- 30:00and that's like, that's a misconception that we just need
- 30:03to fucking get rid of you. You can break your hymen in any
- 30:07number of ways. And so it's not necessarily
- 30:10going to happen. You're not necessarily going to
- 30:12bleed your first time having a penetrate of vaginal sex like.
- 30:15That doesn't really occur in this movie.
- 30:17That doesn't. You're speaking from like the a
- 30:19original script. Yes, and from that standpoint,
- 30:22but also the Emmy at one point is like, I can say that these
- 30:25girls are virgins because their hymens are still intact.
- 30:28Well, what if their hymens hadn't been intact, Sir?
- 30:30Like you still like they could still be virgins.
- 30:34You know what I mean? He's like, I don't know, I'm not
- 30:35a doctor. Like, excuse me?
- 30:38What are you doing here? Yeah.
- 30:41And I think that, you know, I mean this, this kind of ties
- 30:45into my ugly in some ways, but it's just kind of hard to like
- 30:47separate the two concepts right now.
- 30:50But like just the the fear of talking to your children about
- 30:53sex and explaining what they need to expect from it.
- 30:58Like what it's going to feel like what you should do, like
- 31:00how you should know when you feel comfortable with it,
- 31:02teaching about the importance of consent, both giving it and
- 31:05receiving it. And then you could avoid, like,
- 31:08some uncomfortable stuff, like people like, you know, you can
- 31:11avoid a team orgy in a house where they're just all confused
- 31:17and jamming things at each other.
- 31:18You know, honestly. Teaching about consent can maybe
- 31:21have prevented. I don't think it would.
- 31:24What happened to Laura Lee Sherman?
- 31:25I don't. Think it would have prevented
- 31:26the party, but maybe like people would have been able to get
- 31:29going a little bit better, yeah. Yeah.
- 31:32I mean, yeah. I mean, at least maybe it would
- 31:34have been a cooler party. Maybe, I don't know.
- 31:37Yeah. OK.
- 31:41So you got any other bets? Those are the main things.
- 31:45I do think there are also some, like real, like jerky cuts that
- 31:48I don't love. I've talked about that on the
- 31:52show before. Like I get that sometimes they
- 31:55want to use it to add a sense of confusion, but also sometimes it
- 31:58just feels like we're hiding some stuff.
- 32:01Are you talking about shots or are you talking about like
- 32:04actual cuts, like editing? Like like quick cuts between,
- 32:10like flashes of a body. I very much saw like.
- 32:15Yes, like saw like always know what you did last summer, Like
- 32:19those types of quick cuts. I got you, OK?
- 32:24The bad that I have for this movie is I like the idea that
- 32:28they have the whole thing where the virgins are dying, but then
- 32:31once we understand the killer and their motive, it doesn't
- 32:35make any sense. I don't understand why the
- 32:37killer is targeting Virgin specifically, considering the
- 32:41reason that they're murdering people in the first place.
- 32:44Yeah, and I wonder what it was like in the original script,
- 32:48since we know that the Laura Lee Sherman thing was added by the
- 32:51director. Just the right part.
- 32:53He said that he left the script mostly untouched.
- 32:56Yeah, but the right part is kind of crucial to the whole motive
- 33:00of Marlinsden. I think he, I think he added
- 33:05this scene. I don't.
- 33:07I think it was supposed to still be implied.
- 33:10OK. That's how I took it at least.
- 33:14Something bad happened to her from a bunch of high schoolers.
- 33:17Regardless, I just don't know if we were supposed to have the
- 33:20scene occur. Yeah.
- 33:22But yeah, like, I mean, still, I just, I don't, I don't
- 33:26understand it, which it kind of confuses me once we get to that
- 33:29part of the movie, like, I'm still having a good time.
- 33:32Things are fun. But I'm starting to wonder why
- 33:34is this happening? Why was this the case to begin
- 33:37with? There is no explanation ever
- 33:39given by the killer. We just hear, you know where we
- 33:43was. My mom, you're my dad.
- 33:47You did that bad thing. And so did those people.
- 33:51I think cuz he kind of said it was like taking away their last
- 33:54little bit of innocence. So I don't know if he's like.
- 33:58He's not even. Moralizing having sex versus
- 34:01being a virgin. It would make sense if it's like
- 34:04the normal thing from horror movies where it's the victims of
- 34:06the like the parent, like the people that were a part of it,
- 34:10but it's just random. Virgin on Elm Street kind of
- 34:12thing. Yeah, no, here it's just like
- 34:14anybody that's a virgin. Also like, kudos to him thinking
- 34:18to be a teacher in the high school so he can hear all of the
- 34:21gossip and know who is and isn't a virgin, because otherwise he's
- 34:26just going to be like sitting around behind parked cars all
- 34:28over town for a while. He yeah, he fucking commanded to
- 34:32his plan. Yeah, he had to get.
- 34:34I don't know the requirements in Virginia to be a teacher, but
- 34:39I'm assuming maybe at least some masters.
- 34:43I don't know. That's what it was in Kentucky
- 34:45at one point. I don't think it is.
- 34:46Anymore. Not anymore.
- 34:47Yeah, God, God help us. OK, let's go on the ugly.
- 34:52Well, I'm just going to say like all of this behind the stuff
- 34:54scenes that we behind the scenes stuff that we've learned is
- 35:00giving me a key feelings Also, like rape as a motive is always
- 35:05so complicated. You know what I mean?
- 35:08What you mean as like a like a revenge?
- 35:10Yeah, yeah. And I mean, there, there are
- 35:13ways that it can be done. And I think it being the son who
- 35:17like had to deal with the abuse from his mom, I think that adds
- 35:20like an extra layer to it. And also a product of it.
- 35:23Yeah. But yeah, I'm just gonna, I'm,
- 35:26I'm gonna take the hot take right here, right now and say
- 35:29that rape is ugly. Wow, how brave of you.
- 35:32I know. Well, you're going to get
- 35:35crucified. Yeah.
- 35:39I mean, that's, I absolutely agree with that.
- 35:43The thing that I think is ugly, I think Mr. Marlison as a
- 35:46teacher way oversteps his boundaries with the students.
- 35:51Just assaulting children in his class.
- 35:53It's not only that. His whole thing with Jodie,
- 35:57Yeah. When she has her all by herself,
- 35:59you can't tell me that shit isn't intimate.
- 36:01He's like, he's very much like, oh, like, so I heard you broke
- 36:04up with someone. Don't fucking talk about that.
- 36:06That's so fucking weird. He's a weird guy.
- 36:09Yeah, yeah, I'd agree with that. OK, absurd.
- 36:16Oh my God, I just had my cert and it left me.
- 36:19It left my brain. I think I know what yours is.
- 36:22Oh no. What do you think it was?
- 36:26Would you download a car? No, but that is like the music
- 36:31at certain points sounds like the music from the anti piracy
- 36:37PSA. And we actually paused to watch
- 36:39the You wouldn't download a car. It's a very drum and bass
- 36:43soundtrack that they have in this movie.
- 36:45It's a product of its time. God, I had something else.
- 36:49And now I can't. I can't.
- 36:52I can't remember. Yeah, you.
- 36:54Should write them down like me. It helps.
- 36:57It just came to me as we were talking, and then I lost it
- 37:01because I was having a different conversation with you.
- 37:03Oh. OK, I got you.
- 37:05Yeah, so God, that's annoying. But if I think of it, I'll say
- 37:11it. OK, mine were the dad being
- 37:15disappointed that Jodie's a virgin and also at the end of
- 37:18the movie Deputy Mina comes in and she kills Marliston after he
- 37:25like has his second win after coming up from being stabbed on
- 37:29the banister. And she's not shooting him with
- 37:32just one gun. She's got guns at Kimbo.
- 37:35She's like a fucking action movie.
- 37:36Yeah. Like watching Tokyo gore police.
- 37:39I'm expecting him to be like shot in half after.
- 37:41That, yeah, right. It's so funny and then, you
- 37:46know, there's like some obvious with this, like the whole
- 37:49teenage orgy aspect of it all, like a whole party for that,
- 37:52but. I'm not gonna go into detail now
- 37:54because it's our opening scene, but I'm also just gonna say Rod.
- 37:59Huh. I'll go into it in a minute.
- 38:02Rod. Rod in the opening scene.
- 38:04I never wrote his name down, I just wrote him down as Cnabolex.
- 38:11Wow, you took the hard way out with that.
- 38:14We'll get into that here shortly, so let's trade it. 6
- 38:191/2 OK, I think it's a fun movie.
- 38:22I don't think it's an especially great movie, but I do think it's
- 38:24under loved. I think it's a fun movie.
- 38:26I like it. I recommend a lot of people
- 38:28check it out. I think I'd give it a 7.
- 38:30OK. So 6.75 so we start off and I
- 38:34need to talk about Rod because. Wait, I've got one thing I gotta
- 38:38say first, OK, cuz we get a shot establishing.
- 38:43We're in Cherry Falls, Virginia and the sign says established
- 38:48and then we get a branch that's intentionally blocking the date
- 38:52that it was established. When was place established?
- 38:55I forgot how upset you got about that.
- 38:57I don't like it. I felt deliberate and I am just
- 39:02upset. Travis needs to know where every
- 39:06city, town and hamlet was established.
- 39:11Every hamlet. Every hamlet.
- 39:12I need to know, OK, I'm sorry. So yes, go ahead.
- 39:16All right, so I'm not kink shaming Rod.
- 39:18I think we can all agree that I don't do that.
- 39:20I was very pro chair in Tokyo Corp police.
- 39:25Don't make it sound like I was shaming anything.
- 39:28I will shame that shame. How dare.
- 39:35But what the fuck is this? Like sexy fan fiction he wrote
- 39:39to try and have sex with Stacey for the first time, too.
- 39:42I don't know. They're at, They're at Lovers
- 39:45Lane, I'm assuming. I missed the name that he gave
- 39:48himself because I immediately. Changed it was what I said.
- 39:51Xenable X. OK my head immediately kept
- 39:54changing it to Zerxinia from the game Gramsci NTM play there.
- 40:00No, yeah, he's created this whole story.
- 40:02So he comes from a. Planet of barren women.
- 40:05He is exandable X he he gets too pushy.
- 40:10Yeah. And Stacy's like, I don't, I
- 40:13don't feel like I want to do this.
- 40:14And he's like, I want my first time to be with you.
- 40:16And she goes, well, I do too. But, you know, it's just, you
- 40:20know, that alien thing is kind of weird.
- 40:22It's not great for me right now. And then suddenly there are
- 40:29headlights shining on them from behind.
- 40:31And then and I realized that they were in Virginia, and
- 40:36that's just the right amount of stupid for this movie.
- 40:39Virginia. Oh my God, I thought that you
- 40:43were just calling the state of Virginia stupid.
- 40:45Like I just. It's the perfect stupid for.
- 40:47This place. You're Oh my God, you're so
- 40:51right. I never noticed that.
- 40:54That has to be intentional. Right.
- 40:56Oh, absolutely. There's no way it's not.
- 40:58What the fuck? Wow.
- 41:00So Rod's dead. And then Stacy is grabbed and we
- 41:04cut to Kenny also being very pushy in the car trying to have
- 41:08sex with Jodie. And she's like, hey, it's
- 41:12already past my curfew, I don't want to do this right now.
- 41:15And then he's like, listen, I think we need to break up.
- 41:18Yeah, he's like, he's super hot and heavy with her and she's
- 41:21like, no, I'm not feeling this. He's like, all right, we got to
- 41:23break up. Yeah, like, dude, I like, I get
- 41:26that in adult world, a year into a relationship, not having sex
- 41:31might feel a little strange for some people.
- 41:35I'm not saying for everybody, 'cause everybody's got
- 41:36different, like cultural and religious beliefs and whatnot,
- 41:38but I think especially at that age, that's perfectly normal.
- 41:41Yeah, that's such a big thing. Yeah, it's not that strange.
- 41:45This guy is getting a little bit too aggressive with it.
- 41:47And then to make matters worse. Yeah, there we go.
- 41:51The mom pulls up and OK, it's not the fact that the mom
- 41:55interrupts, it's the fact that the mom also flirts with him.
- 41:59Yeah, yeah, she like leans down there.
- 42:01I think she's given him the cleavage shot.
- 42:04I forgot who the killer was until like right near the end of
- 42:07this movie, and for a long time I really suspected it was the
- 42:10mom. The mom is so strange.
- 42:12Yeah, yeah, she's right there. And she's like, can't I bomb a
- 42:15light, Kenny? And then he does the classic
- 42:19like smoking is bad for you and then Hanser.
- 42:22And then he also the audacity in front of his girlfriend
- 42:26ex-girlfriend question mark. They don't know the status of
- 42:29their relationship. In limbo right now but he tells
- 42:32her her mom your headlights are on, meaning her nipples are
- 42:37showing like. No, the headlights were
- 42:40literally on in her car. I thought that he was talking
- 42:44about her nipples. No, he was talking about her
- 42:46literal. Oh boy, that made it way.
- 42:49Dude, my mind's in the fucking gutters with this movie.
- 42:52Just add the. Immediately.
- 42:53It has to be. I get Xandu from a sex planet
- 42:57and like I, you know, tits being hard, That's not too out of the
- 43:05question. Here, I said a Kimbo.
- 43:07Tits a Kimbo. So yeah, he she leaves and then
- 43:13Brittany's like Brittany. Jody's like, all right, so
- 43:16what's the deal? Are we together?
- 43:18And she's like, or he's like. I think that's for you to
- 43:21decide. And so she leaves and her mom
- 43:24helps her sneak in the house, only not good enough because
- 43:26Dad, who is the sheriff of this town is waiting in the bedroom
- 43:30grounds her for two Friday nights, really specific to see
- 43:34the next two Friday nights. Saturday and Sunday, OK.
- 43:36Yeah, Saturday, fine. Yeah, Thursday night, fine.
- 43:40Friday, forget about it. Yeah, you're done.
- 43:44As he gets a call to go to a crime scene and oh surprise
- 43:48surprise that scene is in fact Rod and Stacy.
- 43:50Stacy has been tortured to death and they know this being the way
- 43:54her like blood was spreading out of her body.
- 43:56That only happens when a heart is a beating.
- 43:58And also she was nailed to a fucking tree.
- 44:01Which is. Really brutal.
- 44:04Yeah, so we cut to school the next day and Timmy with the
- 44:08newspaper is trying to get special details from Jodie.
- 44:13Now Timmy looks like he could be a character in a trauma movie.
- 44:17He does, yeah. I like the vibe.
- 44:20He is just like going a mile a minute and she's like, what are
- 44:24you talking about? He's like, you didn't hear that
- 44:25Rod and Stacey were killed and she's like what?
- 44:28And then he's like, oh, also I heard that you and Kenny broke
- 44:30up. And then they look over and
- 44:31Kenny and Sharon maybe. Does she ever get a name?
- 44:35I know there was a blonde girl named Sharon at the party that
- 44:37flirts with him at one point. So.
- 44:38Yeah, I can't remember exactly. It's probably the same person.
- 44:42Yeah. Yeah, so we're in class.
- 44:47He's like, all right, I want to give everybody a chance to talk
- 44:51about Rod and Stacy. Say how you feel about their
- 44:54passing. I wonder if maybe you wish you'd
- 44:58been nicer to them, hadn't had such a bad interaction, maybe
- 45:02hadn't bullied them, Maybe you weren't such a fucking piece of
- 45:05shit. And like one girl was like what
- 45:09time in an argument 8th grade I told him to fuck off and die.
- 45:14Like you didn't tell a night yesterday, babe.
- 45:16Like you're fine. Like.
- 45:17It's like laughing. Oh, I got some good news for
- 45:20you, I think. Is his name Billy?
- 45:23It's Billy and Mark, right? The two.
- 45:26Ben Ben is the edgy one cuz I yeah, I wrote Ben as a little
- 45:30edge Lord. Did he look familiar?
- 45:33Yes, I looked him up and I don't remember what I saw that he was.
- 45:36In Does he look like somebody from the cast of SNL who now has
- 45:41a talk show on late night TV? Does he look like Jimmy Fallon?
- 45:48Oh my God, I can see it. We talked about that because we
- 45:51talked about this guy in witchcraft.
- 45:54He's the guy from witchcraft. Oh my God, yes.
- 45:59Is he? Does he have the bull penis at
- 46:01any point? Yeah, he's the guy.
- 46:03That gets this. He's the guy with the bull.
- 46:04He's the main guy from witchcraft.
- 46:06Oh my God, he's. The guy, that guy, that guy.
- 46:09Yeah, he's the star. Wow, what a weird career to
- 46:13have. I know, right?
- 46:15Witchcraft in Cherry Falls. Maybe that's why he didn't make
- 46:18it too big. Like, guy, you got weird.
- 46:20Your agent sucks. And that also explains when I
- 46:23like clicked on his IMDBI didn't see witchcraft right away cuz
- 46:27why would I? I think he actually did this
- 46:30first. Yeah, he did.
- 46:32And then witchcraft after the fact.
- 46:34Well, let's see, Cindy is angry. She just really wants to see
- 46:38crime punished, so there's that. She's like edging her own way.
- 46:42And then Ben is like, were they sexually defiled?
- 46:46EW gross I. Don't know if they weren't then
- 46:49I think the score gets a thumbs down.
- 46:52Like I get that you're 17 and think that this is peak humor,
- 46:55but gross? Yeah, that's really stupid.
- 46:58So the sheriff comes in to school.
- 47:00He's wanting to talk to the students about what they saw, if
- 47:03they know anything. So he goes to that classroom and
- 47:06asks everybody. And I forget, I didn't write
- 47:08down the full exchange. I just said he said fuck Plato.
- 47:12Yeah, I like it because he's like.
- 47:14Oh, because they were asking for like any information on the
- 47:17case. And he was like Plato says that.
- 47:19Like the teacher did. Yeah, Mr. Marlon's like, Yeah,
- 47:21Well, yeah, because he. Has Plato's not the sheriff of
- 47:24this town? Yeah, it's like I'm not Privy to
- 47:27give any information perchance. Is that what he said?
- 47:34Perhaps. Per SE.
- 47:37Per SE, people, people were talking and yeah, that, yeah, he
- 47:41like hits him with the play DoH and he hits him with the shut
- 47:43the fuck up. Yep, I ain't playing with play
- 47:46DoH. Oh boy, oh boy.
- 47:49Man, my brains mush. To go back to an earlier private
- 47:53off pod conversation we had, Play DoH doesn't have an SDSS
- 47:57sheet because it is considered safe to eat.
- 48:01I'm not going to admit how long I was thinking about the
- 48:03philosopher. We were just talking about that.
- 48:06Well, he also doesn't have an SDS sheet.
- 48:11All right, so we're at lunch. Jodi is sad that she has to
- 48:17watch Kenny with that New Girl, and then Sandy is all enamored
- 48:23with Mark, who's over there playing with his food.
- 48:27Best friends. Hale He's gotta be high, this
- 48:29guy's. Yeah, that's his character
- 48:31archetype is just being stoned all the time.
- 48:35I thought he was the guy from Hostile for a long time.
- 48:38He. Was he does kind of.
- 48:40I don't say I wouldn't say just like him, but I can see
- 48:42similarities. Yeah.
- 48:44So they go over there to sit the table to try because Jody forces
- 48:48Sandy to go confront Mark. Yeah, so they.
- 48:51Take confront like she's trying to get them.
- 48:53She's playing matchmaker. Yeah.
- 48:55Yeah. So they're over there trying to,
- 48:56you know, get that magic rolling.
- 48:58Meanwhile, a woman comes into the lunchroom screaming at
- 49:02another kid. Yeah, they're both students.
- 49:05And she, she's upset because this guy started a rumor that
- 49:09she, like, gave him a blowy. Yeah, somewhere on property.
- 49:14And everybody knows if it's not true.
- 49:17Yeah, 'cause they're like, Oh my God, it was a true.
- 49:19It's like she thinks that Felicia is a fucking Hamlet
- 49:22character or something like that.
- 49:25Per SE. Perchance.
- 49:27Yeah. Then I really wanna give a shout
- 49:31out to the sound design because we cut to the killer sharpening
- 49:34some metal tools and the metal grinding sound is actually very
- 49:39much what it sounds like. So good, get on them.
- 49:42Yeah, that, yeah, that's, it's a very important piece to movies
- 49:47that people. Don't.
- 49:49Recognize. Yeah, like sound design like
- 49:51that, like makes or breaks it. And it just, it happens to be
- 49:54one of the that you never know who in the audience has like a
- 49:57weird hobby I happen to engrave in metal.
- 50:01And so the sound when it happened, I was like, Oh yeah,
- 50:04that's yeah, yeah. Respect.
- 50:06It's nice when you can notice. That, yeah.
- 50:08So we didn't cut to the killer staking out somebody's house.
- 50:13Yeah, they see the parents leaving the house, kids left
- 50:15alone at home. So nice.
- 50:17Fucking house too. It's a beautiful house.
- 50:20Yeah. Goes over there and rings the
- 50:22doorbell. Kid goes down to the door.
- 50:24This. Is Annette.
- 50:25We know her name. Her name's Annette.
- 50:26I didn't know Annette is her name.
- 50:27OK, I know that's her name. Is this the girl that was
- 50:31screaming about not blowing that guy?
- 50:33Yeah. OK, that's fine.
- 50:34Very publicly announced that she is in fact a virgin, which I
- 50:38mean, nobody knows at this point that this is a virgin killer,
- 50:43but. True.
- 50:44Yeah. So this is a creepy scene.
- 50:47A virgin killer sounds like a really misogynistic a nickname
- 50:52for like a campus stud or stud. Oh.
- 50:56My God, yeah. I wouldn't like that as a.
- 51:00Name. Yeah.
- 51:02So knock at the door. She goes to check and see who it
- 51:05was or who's there, and it's Laura Lee Sherman.
- 51:09And it's this person that's it's like a high pitched voice.
- 51:13I've got a nerve for your mother.
- 51:14Did she say I was coming by? It's creepy.
- 51:19I would have just been like, yeah, just leave it at the door.
- 51:21But she she's like, OK, well, I'll take it just.
- 51:23And she's like trying to not open the door all the way.
- 51:26But of course, when somebody's going to break into your house,
- 51:30you don't give them any opening if you can help it.
- 51:32It's like dead bolted. Yeah.
- 51:34Yeah, it's like a little chain thing that keeps it from opening
- 51:37and then the hand reaches and grabs her by the hair, so it's
- 51:41bashing the head against. The door.
- 51:43And busts in and does what what they do.
- 51:46And then we get a scene that very much feels like the
- 51:50opening. To scream.
- 51:51It does. The parents are tipsy.
- 51:53They had a good time at dinner. They're gonna have been drunk.
- 51:56They're gonna go home and have wine drunk sex.
- 52:00Yeah, yeah. And the kid was probably gonna
- 52:04have to listen to their parents. Yeah, the kid was like, we're
- 52:06clearly rich, can we please get some sandproofing insulation in
- 52:10the walls? But they get their doors left
- 52:12open, so that's strange. And then?
- 52:14Doors open, cats acting weird cat.
- 52:17Probably if cat bear cats acting weird truly and they find the
- 52:21body. Yeah, and she is a she's
- 52:24suspended from the ceiling. That's pretty gruesome.
- 52:27Yeah, yeah. This is the sheriff is teaching
- 52:30Jodi self-defense, which I think is smart.
- 52:34Yeah. I I think you should not wait
- 52:36until there is a killer on the loose.
- 52:38Learn self-defense. I remember there is a teacher in
- 52:39my elementary school who taught some of us who wanted to learn
- 52:43it like she was like a student teacher and she's like, hey,
- 52:45does anybody want to learn self-defense?
- 52:48And I was like, yeah, so I I still know some of those moves
- 52:52to this day, like they're just some very basic ones, but.
- 52:55It's important, yeah. Learn how to protect yourself,
- 52:57people. So yeah, he gets called onto the
- 53:00crime scene and they go there. FBI is there.
- 53:04Why is it always a thing between like, the cops and the FBI?
- 53:07There's like a pissing match between the two of them.
- 53:09Yeah. Like this is our case, We were
- 53:12here first jurisdiction. Why do they hate each other?
- 53:16Why can't we just get along and solve the merger together, guys?
- 53:19Yeah, like we're not the bad guys.
- 53:24Yeah, it's like Tim Robinson. We're all trying to find the
- 53:27person. Here, we're all trying to find
- 53:30who crashed their car into the store.
- 53:33So we arrived at the morgue and the.
- 53:37Medical examiner. I've said medical examiner 20
- 53:40times today between recording these two and you keep going
- 53:44doctor. I don't know.
- 53:45I was about to call the mortician.
- 53:47I think that's kind of accurate. They they reveal that Virgin has
- 53:52been carved into all three victims so far.
- 53:56And I, I'm curious how large it was carved in because we saw
- 54:00Jodi start to get cut before and that was a long cut.
- 54:04So that was going to be AV. That's like they were pretty big
- 54:07all the way down the leg, but. We get flashes of them, they're
- 54:10pretty large. Or like it's really large
- 54:12letters and they get to the knee and like the letters are getting
- 54:15smaller and smaller. So it's like virgin?
- 54:18I I start writing things, I'm like, Oh no, running out of
- 54:20room. Good time, good time.
- 54:23Happens me all the time. All right, so.
- 54:26So, yeah, and he's like, I can tell.
- 54:30And I already talked about how this is bullshit, but he's like,
- 54:31I can tell these two girls were virgins at the time of their
- 54:34death. So, and I can tell, well, I
- 54:36can't tell that this boy was a virgin, but I can tell you he he
- 54:38didn't have sex before he died. I I don't know if he's a virgin,
- 54:41but I had heard that he was talking about being an alien and
- 54:45that's not going to get too laid, so he's probably a virgin.
- 54:48He was very open about his alien erotica, so I think we can
- 54:50safely assume. Introduce himself as Xanibou X
- 54:53Yeah, that kid did not get laid. So at night time, Sheriff's
- 55:00mind's pretty heavy right now with this information.
- 55:02So he goes to confront Jodie. Yeah, and he's.
- 55:05Like, all right, Jodie, I got to ask you and Kenny, how far have
- 55:09you guys been? She's like, dad, you don't have
- 55:11to ask me about that. You don't have to worry.
- 55:15He's like, he's like, I got to stress.
- 55:17Could you go further? Like, and it didn't sound like
- 55:21he was trying to ask if they'd had sex without having sex.
- 55:24It sounded like he was telling her like, but could you go
- 55:29farther? Like go like?
- 55:31I'll on ground you please go farther.
- 55:33Yeah, that's how it came across. Yeah, and she's like, I'm a
- 55:39virgin, if that's what you're asking.
- 55:40And then he looks, so he's dejected with this information.
- 55:44And she's like, are you upset? Yeah.
- 55:48This. It's.
- 55:48So confusing. And she's like, oh dad, don't
- 55:51worry, I'll like, I'll get laid one day, promise.
- 55:54I'm like. I'm not completely hideous.
- 55:56Somebody will want to fuck me. Yeah, like you don't have to
- 55:59worry. It's just so weird.
- 56:02It yeah, it's cuz again, I think parents need to be upfront with
- 56:06themselves and understand that they're kids.
- 56:08You know, likely you're gonna have sex someday and you don't
- 56:14necessarily have to want all of the details or want to ask about
- 56:17it. But this is just.
- 56:18This is weird. It's yeah, it's a little bit too
- 56:21close. Yep.
- 56:22So the sheriff then finds deputy.
- 56:26I never got her name. Deputy Deputy Mina.
- 56:30Tells her to set up a town hall with just the parents.
- 56:33Yeah, just the parents. Just the parents.
- 56:36Jodie talks TS Eliot and human relations with Mr. Marleston
- 56:41after class. And I related to her so hard in
- 56:44this moment because he's like, I heard you and Kenny broke up.
- 56:47And she was like, I have a lot of shit going on in my mind
- 56:51right now. Everything is not about like boy
- 56:54trouble. So she I think even said, why
- 56:56are you asking me that? Why are you like?
- 56:58Why is this even coming? Up and like because I would get
- 57:00so resentful of that, like around that age and people like,
- 57:04are you and your boyfriend having a problem?
- 57:06And I'd be like, I've got bigger shit in the world to worry about
- 57:10then this particular thing. I'm a complex human being.
- 57:13I'm not defined by my relations to like whatever boy I'm seeing
- 57:18at the time. I like I felt her righteous
- 57:20anger in this moment and she was like just trying to talk to an
- 57:23adult that she trusted. And he's like awful problems.
- 57:27I I personally took the Xanabulex route.
- 57:31I didn't have to worry about that.
- 57:36Yeah, he gets a little bit too personal here.
- 57:38And then she's like, Oh my God, I'm embarrassed that I yelled at
- 57:41you. And then she goes.
- 57:43Somebody's there. So they walk around the school.
- 57:46They're sleuthing together. They find a crushed cigarette in
- 57:50the cafeteria. Also, somebody there, we see
- 57:52footsteps. Yeah, we see footsteps.
- 57:56I mean, we see a footstep, OK? So yeah, we see footsteps.
- 58:02OK, the sheriff tells Mr. Sizzla.
- 58:06But I'm gonna. Do that every time.
- 58:10And I'm gonna say it like that every time.
- 58:12So just. Lick your tongue, people.
- 58:15Take your. Lick your tongue.
- 58:16Lick your finger with your tongue.
- 58:17Wait. I can lick my own tongue.
- 58:20OK, if you were like Jesse, you can do that, too.
- 58:22I'm gonna go Sizzler. So they need to use the school
- 58:30gymnasium because that's the only place in town big enough to
- 58:33have all of the parents in town there.
- 58:34Which school gymnasiums are not huge?
- 58:35How small is this town? I'm very like what?
- 58:38Like why are all of your buildings tiny?
- 58:40This kind of sounds like Carlin. So he tells Mr. Sizzla that they
- 58:46need to use the school to have this town hall.
- 58:49And he was like, I really don't think that we need this
- 58:52information getting out to the kids.
- 58:53We're gonna have a goddamn fuck fest on our hands.
- 58:55And that's such a beautiful, beautiful dialogue, Timmy and
- 59:00Jody Pekin, because this plant was doomed to fail from the
- 59:03start. Yeah, yeah, All the parents are
- 59:06gathered there. Yeah.
- 59:07And they're overhearing the whole thing.
- 59:09And then this is when the. Shooter breaks.
- 59:11The information. Another beautiful line of
- 59:14dialogue. Timmy says Holy Hyman's Batman.
- 59:17Holy Hyman's Batman man dialogue in this movie.
- 59:22Yeah, the parents start fighting over how hot their kids are.
- 59:24Kind of. It's so fucking funny though, so
- 59:27you tell me my daughter has to have sex.
- 59:30I wouldn't worry about that if I were you, Harold.
- 59:33What'd you say? Chaos, Or it's the guy himself,
- 59:37isn't one to speak. Yeah, the whole thing is so
- 59:41funny. Yeah.
- 59:42Timmy takes Jodi's phone because he's got to call, like, the
- 59:47school editor. And he's like, I can't hear you
- 59:50in this corridor. It's just say hallway.
- 59:53Yeah, Come on. Say hallway, man.
- 59:54Didn't you say this? Yeah.
- 59:57And so he, like, goes into the stairwell and eventually Jody's
- 1:00:00like, I need my phone back. It's 1999.
- 1:00:03These aren't, like, super common.
- 1:00:06And she's trying to find him. And she's just not, like, seeing
- 1:00:09him anywhere. And then she gets into a locker
- 1:00:11room and hears her phone ring. So she goes looking and she
- 1:00:14finds a single locker by itself, which is always a bad sign.
- 1:00:17I I will never trust a single locker on its own.
- 1:00:20It's always suspicious. Yeah, it's also got virgin
- 1:00:23marked on the door. Which my skin is crawling
- 1:00:26imagine and getting that like scraped in there.
- 1:00:29That I could see that also, having been there before.
- 1:00:33Yeah, like the. Killer just like.
- 1:00:35The killer's just like, you know what?
- 1:00:37Yeah. Perfect I.
- 1:00:38Don't have to do anything though and when she opens that she
- 1:00:42finds Timmy step body and then she is chased.
- 1:00:46Yeah. And I, I mean, like, yeah, she's
- 1:00:48chased because she's a virgin, but she's also chased down the
- 1:00:51hall. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:00:54They take it to like a science room.
- 1:00:56Yeah, this is a good little sequence here.
- 1:00:57It's a lab. OK Jesse let's keep a dumb down
- 1:01:03for the dumb 1. So I got me here.
- 1:01:05OK not calling any of you dumb but if any of you people are my
- 1:01:09brain length won't be. Okie dokie I I'm trying my
- 1:01:18hardest here. So they take it to the science
- 1:01:26lab. Come on,
- 1:01:39I'm crying. Oh God, I wish I could tell you
- 1:01:48in all honesty that that wasn't me giving it 100%, but that was
- 1:01:53me giving it 100% right there. OK, OK, so they're in the
- 1:01:59science room. Uh huh.
- 1:02:01And she is just chucking beakers and bottles and Bunsen burners.
- 1:02:09Stop. Throwing a Bunsen.
- 1:02:14She's throwing a shark, though. She climbs up to the top of one
- 1:02:18of the cabinets and there's a shark in silence.
- 1:02:21It's silence. Lab class.
- 1:02:23It is suspended from the ceiling.
- 1:02:25So she uses that to kind of like ram into the killer and she runs
- 1:02:30out in the hallway. Her dad and some of the deputies
- 1:02:34are running behind him and she's like, killer's in there, the
- 1:02:36killer's in there, and of course the killer's gone by the time
- 1:02:37they get in there. Oh, yeah, And we had also kind
- 1:02:39of skipped over. He knocked her out at first,
- 1:02:42yeah, like bashing her head into a Walker and dragged her into
- 1:02:44the room. And he was starting the car.
- 1:02:46Our version on her. But yeah, so she's got like a
- 1:02:48decent cut in her leg, right? One more letter and could have
- 1:02:54nicked the femoral. Yeah, for real.
- 1:02:57Yeah, that's getting close to an artery.
- 1:02:59Yeah, so Jody is at the police station and she's trying to help
- 1:03:04with the police sketch. And man, this is the least fun
- 1:03:06police sketch scene I've ever seen in a movie because they
- 1:03:09were just clicking stuff onto the screen.
- 1:03:10I like watching the guy, like actually drawing, yeah.
- 1:03:15Or Tokyo Gore police. You get like half of the head
- 1:03:18and match it up with the bottom half of the head.
- 1:03:20Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:03:23When they get the picture and she's like, that's perfect.
- 1:03:26And the sheriff is like, I need to make a phone call.
- 1:03:28And he faxes it to Mr. Siswas. And he's like, tell me that
- 1:03:33doesn't look exactly like Laura Lee Sherman.
- 1:03:36He's like nobody's heard from Laura Lee Sherman since she left
- 1:03:39town 25 years ago. Jody's like overhearing all of
- 1:03:42this too, because he's not being very secret.
- 1:03:44He like, went like, probably terrible like.
- 1:03:47Well, she picked up the phone and she's, like, on the line
- 1:03:50he's on. Yeah.
- 1:03:51And I feel like the sheriff would have a private line in his
- 1:03:53office that you would think he would use.
- 1:03:55Yeah, but this again. Or use his cell phone.
- 1:03:58Cell phone. Yeah, but it's 1999.
- 1:04:01Well, Jody has his cell phone. Yeah, but this guy's an old
- 1:04:04school to him. Fucking cell phones he's
- 1:04:07probably get. A phase.
- 1:04:08Yeah, he's mad that technology exists, but yeah, she picks up
- 1:04:11the phone and overhears it. And then he comes out and he's
- 1:04:14like, what did you hear? And she's like, I was just
- 1:04:16trying to call mom. And he's like, oh.
- 1:04:18Sandy comes in for to take Jodi to school and she basically
- 1:04:23tells her that like the kids are planning sexual inoculations.
- 1:04:26Yeah, In other words, there's a fuck party in the right here.
- 1:04:31Yeah, they start. And Cindy is going to be doing a
- 1:04:34pregame talk and lunch for all the girls.
- 1:04:36Yeah, so Jodi's staying with Sandy for the time being.
- 1:04:41Yeah, she wants to go to school. They're trying to tell her not
- 1:04:44to go to school. And she's like, no, I need to go
- 1:04:45to school. And when she gets there, she's
- 1:04:46immediately popular, cuz. And this is not the first time
- 1:04:51in Brittany Murphy's career that she played somebody with a near
- 1:04:54death experience and then became the most popular girl in school.
- 1:04:56Clues. Yep.
- 1:04:57OK. All right.
- 1:04:57Yeah, So yeah, they, she's like nobody can get a word and even
- 1:05:06Mr. Marlinson is trying to talk to her and yeah, she's just
- 1:05:09overrun by everybody and. Kenny is like, I love you.
- 1:05:13I didn't realize how much I loved you until I am this last
- 1:05:16year. Oh.
- 1:05:16My God, this fucking kid do you? Want to go to the party with me
- 1:05:19tonight And she's like, oh, I can't.
- 1:05:21I have, I have a curfew for my dad and he's like, if you don't
- 1:05:25want to fuck me, just say so. And she's like, well, I did and
- 1:05:27you broke up with me. But also I really do have a
- 1:05:29curfew. He's like, but I love you.
- 1:05:32She's like, I guess I'll try and sneak out.
- 1:05:35Well, he buys it whenever she turns around and sees Mina,
- 1:05:40deputy Mina there. He's like, who's that?
- 1:05:42And she's like, that's my body. Yeah.
- 1:05:44He's like, oh fuck, OK. Yeah, she's like, I'll think
- 1:05:46about it. At the pregame discussion, Cindy
- 1:05:50drops some real hard truths. Like you're going to have to do
- 1:05:53all of the work because the boys won't know how to unhook your
- 1:05:57bra and they won't be able to put it in by themselves.
- 1:06:01It's pretty brutal. Yeah, it's brutal, but also it
- 1:06:05is a fair warning that those, these girls deserve to know.
- 1:06:08And I think that's why I, like most of them, probably were
- 1:06:14effectively inoculated at the party that night.
- 1:06:16I think it's interesting that they're doing this so out in the
- 1:06:18open, like Deputy Mean is. They're listening to the pep
- 1:06:22talk too. Is she taking notes?
- 1:06:23No, I imagine she's just like, she's not saying anything
- 1:06:26incorrect. Like she was ready to like Fact
- 1:06:27Check and she's like, Nope, she's girls.
- 1:06:29Got it all correct. Yeah.
- 1:06:32Yeah, and the guys are doing their own version of it, but
- 1:06:37it's just what are the names? It's the Stoner guys, Mark and
- 1:06:42Ben and I, There's like a third guy in there too, and they're
- 1:06:46just kind of like, yeah, whoa, stones.
- 1:06:50Yeah. Ben.
- 1:06:52So the principal scissor, he gets news of the sex party.
- 1:06:58So he takes it to go over the intercom and tell everybody he
- 1:07:02forbids it. He's like and there will be no
- 1:07:05group sex tonight I repeat, there will be no group sex
- 1:07:09tonight And then that summons in the news channels to go to the
- 1:07:15school. The best way to do that would
- 1:07:16have been like the only person having sex tonight is me.
- 1:07:22Just. Like with your mother.
- 1:07:28Yeah, so the the kids are revolting.
- 1:07:32They're shouting hail, hail version hi, drop your pants.
- 1:07:34Let's fuck or die on the news On the news the.
- 1:07:37News is reporting about this now.
- 1:07:39It's insane. So back at the market household,
- 1:07:43the mom tells Jodie that she's never heard of Laura Lee
- 1:07:47Sherman. And she's like, well,
- 1:07:48supposedly, you know, she she left town 25 years ago.
- 1:07:52Something real bad happened to her.
- 1:07:55Seems like in a small town, you would hear something like that.
- 1:07:57And the mom's like, yeah, I know.
- 1:07:58Weird, right? Like, I've lived here my whole
- 1:08:00life and I don't even know this person.
- 1:08:02So she ends up Tay matters in her own hands, and she sneaks to
- 1:08:06the library to do some research on our favorite thing.
- 1:08:09Microfiche God, we haven't talked about this since Leslie
- 1:08:14Verdon. Yeah.
- 1:08:15Man, this is a staple of this era of.
- 1:08:18Horror music is like the teenage slasher.
- 1:08:20Yeah, if there was a slasher and you needed more information, you
- 1:08:23had to go down to a dusty library basement and use the
- 1:08:26microfiche. Yeah, so she's doing that,
- 1:08:31Sheriff. In the meantime, he's got to go
- 1:08:33to West Virginia. He's got to do some snooping on
- 1:08:35his own. Yeah.
- 1:08:37So she's she finds the article and.
- 1:08:40There's high school senior disappears.
- 1:08:41Yeah, and swirly, it's I think it has the name there too.
- 1:08:45And then her mom catches her there and is mad.
- 1:08:48But Jodie is just like that game.
- 1:08:49She's like, tell me, tell me, tell me.
- 1:08:51And who can say no to a sobbing, hysterical Brittany Murphy?
- 1:08:55No one, that's who. Yeah, so she gives her the low
- 1:08:58down on. She's like, so Laura Lee
- 1:09:02reported that she was attacked by a group of seniors in town.
- 1:09:08And Jodie immediately is like, oh, so she was.
- 1:09:12She was raped by several men and her mom's like, well, they were
- 1:09:16never charged because they were on the football team and they
- 1:09:20were popular and well connected, probably white.
- 1:09:25So, you know, it was just kind of, I don't.
- 1:09:27Think she says that far? I mean, it's very verifiably.
- 1:09:30True, Yeah. I mean, I think we only see
- 1:09:32white people in this movie. Oh my God, I think you're right.
- 1:09:36Yeah. Wow.
- 1:09:37Yeah, that's weird. And they they came from good
- 1:09:42families, so they weren't charged.
- 1:09:45And she was just a loner. It's like poor fucking Laura
- 1:09:48Lee. She left town about 27 years
- 1:09:51ago. Two of the men that attirectory
- 1:09:54left about a year later. The other two are still in town.
- 1:09:59One is Tommy Sizzla. And the fourth one, who's the
- 1:10:044th one? Mom.
- 1:10:05It's Mom. Who is it?
- 1:10:06It's who it's. Your dad.
- 1:10:09He was drunk though. He didn't do.
- 1:10:11Anything. He didn't do anything and he
- 1:10:13just, he couldn't turn in as friends.
- 1:10:16They're just buddies. You can't do that.
- 1:10:17It's like against bro code. You know what else should be
- 1:10:20against bro code? What rape?
- 1:10:22Yeah, I'm not. I'm not defending that.
- 1:10:26I'm not saying yeah. Yeah, it's fucked up.
- 1:10:30So and then she's like, yeah, I mean, it wasn't even anything.
- 1:10:34It was just like a it was a sex and then it.
- 1:10:37Was just it was just drunk people having sex.
- 1:10:40Together. No, mom, you said rape.
- 1:10:42Yeah, good job, Jody. Yeah.
- 1:10:45Where did you get this good head on your shoulders?
- 1:10:48So yeah, one of the things that Brent finds in West Virginia is
- 1:10:51a creepy basement nursery with a chained up baby doll.
- 1:10:55God, yeah, yeah. At the Sherman house.
- 1:10:58Yeah, it's really dark. And then the partner radios
- 1:11:03sheriff to meet Principal Sizz Sizzler about Warley.
- 1:11:09She says the name over the radio.
- 1:11:10She's like, I don't know, you got to meet him about that.
- 1:11:13So Jodie goes to Kenny's house. She is just pissed at her
- 1:11:16parents and she's like, they're just hypocrites and they're the
- 1:11:18worst. And he's like, I know right?
- 1:11:20Like my parents are like that too.
- 1:11:21And she's like fine, let's have sex.
- 1:11:22And he's like wait what? And then she's like suck my toe.
- 1:11:25She's the suck it. She's really aggressive.
- 1:11:28Yeah, she is not ready for this level of freak.
- 1:11:32It's her. It's.
- 1:11:32Pretty wild out the gate. She takes her foot and like puts
- 1:11:36her toe in his mouth and then she takes her other foot and
- 1:11:39starts kicking him in the head. She's seen a Tarantino movie.
- 1:11:42Do you think she's actually into this or you think she's just
- 1:11:44like trying to like, I think she's rises?
- 1:11:46Yeah, I think she's pissed, and I think she's also realizing
- 1:11:49that she's pissed at him for him pushing her and then like, using
- 1:11:53that as emotional, like blackmail.
- 1:11:54Yeah, she takes off her shirt and then she straddles him and
- 1:11:57she's like, come on, I thought you wanted to have sex.
- 1:12:00What's the matter? And he's like, I want you to
- 1:12:02want to. Yeah, I don't want you to do it
- 1:12:05because you're mad at your parents or some shit.
- 1:12:08And she's like, fine, I'm gonna leave.
- 1:12:10I'm gonna go hang out with somebody who wants to spend time
- 1:12:12with me. He goes, is it Mr. Marlinson?
- 1:12:14And she goes, what, are you jealous?
- 1:12:15And he's like, yeah. That's so weird.
- 1:12:20So the Sheriff Markin goes to the school and he's in the
- 1:12:25principal's office, and of course he's attacked because of
- 1:12:27course that that message wasn't really from Miss Tessa's Law.
- 1:12:30No, yeah, Mr. Sizzler's dead. Like he already dead in his
- 1:12:35office here. Yeah, then we cut to.
- 1:12:42I forgot to mention I think it's very important.
- 1:12:45So for those of us that all remember, 3D Doritos were
- 1:12:50present in Kitty's room. I just want to say too, that
- 1:12:54when they brought 3D Doritos back a few years ago, they
- 1:12:56weren't the same and they weren't as good.
- 1:12:59They weren't, but they were still pretty good.
- 1:13:00They were still pretty good, but they weren't the same but.
- 1:13:02Man, God damn 3D Doritos. I think I dreamed about them
- 1:13:06last night. I.
- 1:13:07Swear to God. Well, they had a Pepsi one at
- 1:13:10one point on the tables too. Yeah.
- 1:13:11And I was like, oh shit. If you don't know 3D Doritos,
- 1:13:15look that shit up. They were the best three of us
- 1:13:18ever. Just saying.
- 1:13:19OK, so yeah, it's a sex party is going on now.
- 1:13:25It's a sex. Party, It's going on sex like a
- 1:13:28school dance, though at first it's they're all just kind of
- 1:13:31awkwardly slow dancing together and trying to like pair up with
- 1:13:34each other. Mark tries to flirt with Sharon
- 1:13:38and she says that he's got too much clothes on.
- 1:13:41Enter Sandy. Yeah, you'll combust if you.
- 1:13:44Go to your candle. Yeah.
- 1:13:47Ben is with Cindy, I think. Why is she at the party?
- 1:13:51She's not a virgin. Yeah, I think she's just wanting
- 1:13:54to get hers. Yeah, I mean, she's like, it
- 1:13:56sounds like a fun party. I'm gonna go be a part of it.
- 1:14:00And then Kenny is with Sharon. And then he was like, you know
- 1:14:03what? No, this isn't right.
- 1:14:06We see Jodie at Marliston's house.
- 1:14:08He is bringing in a large trunk into his house.
- 1:14:11I think we need to have more trunks.
- 1:14:13Think ornate trunks like this in life, not with bodies inside of
- 1:14:15them. I'm not saying that part.
- 1:14:17See, I immediately go to that and I think the solution is we
- 1:14:20need to normalize them. Yes, let's normalize trunks.
- 1:14:23That way every time you see one, you don't go Oh no, there's
- 1:14:26clearly a dead body in. There, especially with you see
- 1:14:28somebody like Mr. Marlinson here who's struggling to get.
- 1:14:31Yeah. And he's assaulted children, and
- 1:14:33he frequently, like, gaslights them in class.
- 1:14:36Like, yeah, no, we don't want to see guys like him with Trunks,
- 1:14:40but like, yeah, normal people, like, let's see.
- 1:14:43Let's see up upright, upstanding citizens.
- 1:14:46There we go with. Trunks.
- 1:14:48Yeah, there we go. Yeah.
- 1:14:49And that's our mission statement, right?
- 1:14:54There, yeah, give upstanding citizens ornate trunks.
- 1:14:58Yes, exactly. Yes, without bodies.
- 1:15:00No bodies, no bodies. That's in like, tiny tiny texts.
- 1:15:03Like seriously, can't emphasize this enough.
- 1:15:05No bodies please. Like there's an asterisk next to
- 1:15:08it, and then an asterisk next to the asterisk.
- 1:15:10We've put in so much work to fight the stigma at this.
- 1:15:13Yeah. OK, so yeah, she's like, let me
- 1:15:16help you in. He's like, Are you sure?
- 1:15:17Like I'm taking it to the basement and she's like, yeah,
- 1:15:19yeah, it's fine. So this is also another one of
- 1:15:22the creepier scenes for me. This his heel turn is so fucking
- 1:15:26fast too. It's OK, but from her
- 1:15:29perspective for. Real though, this scene, like
- 1:15:32it, it was one of the moments that would generally unsettled
- 1:15:35me because like, they take it and they get it to the basement
- 1:15:37and he just slides it down the stairs.
- 1:15:41Yeah, it goes all the way down there and then.
- 1:15:45She's like, man, that's Amy. What's in it goes in your dad's
- 1:15:47body. The way he delivers that line is
- 1:15:51what it fucking gets me. He's like, oh, it's your dad's
- 1:15:54body. Yeah, he's so happy.
- 1:15:56It's one of those like if you put some kind of like playful
- 1:15:59music that could be something in like a Hallmark Channel movie
- 1:16:01right there, you know, like it would be totally fine and like
- 1:16:04innocent but. Yeah, like just put like a
- 1:16:06couple of hot cocoa in his hand. Yeah, I guess you're.
- 1:16:08Just yeah. Yeah.
- 1:16:09But man. I know how much you miss him at
- 1:16:11Christmas time, you know. It's really dark.
- 1:16:15She goes down there and opens up the chest and it's.
- 1:16:17Actually her. Dad, but he's alive.
- 1:16:19I also want to say that I really appreciate his wig stand that he
- 1:16:23drew eyes on it. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:16:25That's kind of nice. My my stylist and I had a long
- 1:16:28conversation about this at my last appointment.
- 1:16:30Cuz she's got multiple wig stands obviously.
- 1:16:34Well we were talking about the need for like putting eyes and
- 1:16:37faces on them. Would it make it less creepy?
- 1:16:39But we did also discuss having them set up in such a way that
- 1:16:42it frequently frightens our partners.
- 1:16:46I would do it stylistically, like I, I would make it like a
- 1:16:50cartoon character, like an anime character or.
- 1:16:52Something I would want like them as little patches so I could
- 1:16:54interchange the eyes like a Mr. Potato head.
- 1:16:57OK, so. So that's where we stand.
- 1:16:59On that, that's where we stand on wig stands.
- 1:17:00Situation, yes. Now you know how we feel about
- 1:17:03wig stands and wooden chests. Yeah.
- 1:17:05If you want to know more, just ask.
- 1:17:07So we're open books, people. Yeah, so she gets knocked out,
- 1:17:12so. This guy has to have brain
- 1:17:14damage. Yeah, she probably does at this
- 1:17:17point. Yeah, she's concussed, to say
- 1:17:18the least, and she's tied to a chair, and so is Mr. Sheriff
- 1:17:23Markin. And he's over there at his
- 1:17:25workstation just, like working on his wigs and weapons and
- 1:17:28shit. So he's like, all right, tell
- 1:17:31her the real story about what happened and.
- 1:17:34She's like, I know. Yeah, my mom already told me.
- 1:17:36And then? He's like, no, you're gonna hurt
- 1:17:38her, tell her the story. Yeah, so he tells the story.
- 1:17:42It is the same story, except like, he really was super drunk,
- 1:17:46but they put him on top of her and then he continued to do and
- 1:17:50he's like, I knew what I was doing.
- 1:17:51I knew what was happening the entire time.
- 1:17:53Yeah. And then that's when Mr.
- 1:17:56Marlison goes over to him and he's like, yeah.
- 1:17:59And she was in love with you, and you raped her.
- 1:18:04And any one of those men could be my father.
- 1:18:07But I see the family resemblance.
- 1:18:09We have the same eyes. And then it cuts to the
- 1:18:12mannequin again. Yeah.
- 1:18:14Yeah, so. Yeah, and he says that children
- 1:18:19are the only innocents left. Yeah, still no.
- 1:18:24Doesn't explain the motive here, but whatever.
- 1:18:27You go off, my man. Kenny arrives at the house and
- 1:18:32he says I need to speak to Jodie.
- 1:18:36And Mr. Marlinson says Jodie's not here.
- 1:18:39And he's like, that's literally her bike right there.
- 1:18:42Like he kind of even pulled a Hugh Grant and Heretic and moved
- 1:18:46the bike. No, yeah, I like the soul
- 1:18:50confrontation now cuz he comes out super aggressive.
- 1:18:52He's like, what the fuck do you want Kinney, huh?
- 1:18:55Well, and that probably isn't weird for him as a teacher
- 1:18:57because we've seen the way he talks through his class.
- 1:18:59He's a little. Bit more composed than that
- 1:19:00though, but yeah, he's like what the fuck's wrong with the
- 1:19:03Kinney, huh? And then?
- 1:19:04Kenny forces his way in. He's like, why are you wearing
- 1:19:08makeup? He's like, because it makes me
- 1:19:09feel pretty. And then he's about to like,
- 1:19:11stab him and then he like punches him in the gut and then,
- 1:19:13like walks him out of the house, runs down to the basement,
- 1:19:15freeze Jody, and then goes over there and gets the sheriff
- 1:19:21united. But it's a little bit too late.
- 1:19:23Because Marla has made his way back in and he stabs Brent.
- 1:19:29The sheriff, Kenny and Jody run out.
- 1:19:31And as they're running through the woods, they run into a cop
- 1:19:35who calls, calls to the it's a deputy Mina, you know, And it's
- 1:19:40like, oh God, the sheriff is dead.
- 1:19:42His daughter and her Paramore here.
- 1:19:45It's moralist and moralist and secure.
- 1:19:47Yeah. And then they're like, come on,
- 1:19:49like, you got to help us. And he's like, I this is where
- 1:19:51I'm stationed. I can't split.
- 1:19:53And then you get split with an axe by Mr. Moraliston.
- 1:19:56Kind of love it. Yeah.
- 1:19:59Marleston must have been doing the Leslie Vernon like cardio
- 1:20:02regimen cuz he had to catch up to them and sneak around the
- 1:20:06long way. Yeah, yeah, he went for it.
- 1:20:09So they arrive at the fuck fest and they go inside and the floor
- 1:20:13is empty. It's just Sandy and Mark still
- 1:20:15there, still dancing by themselves, and they run
- 1:20:18upstairs and that's where the orgy's happening.
- 1:20:20Yeah. And Mr. Marlinson has followed
- 1:20:23them there. And then he goes upstairs, too,
- 1:20:25and he starts slashing all of the kids.
- 1:20:27I don't know how many people die here, but there's a lot of.
- 1:20:30People there and the kids are running down the stairs, there's
- 1:20:33like a bottleneck, banister breaks like it's just full
- 1:20:36chaos. The deputy gets hurt in the
- 1:20:39crush and they. They're.
- 1:20:44So because Jodie. And he pins her up to the wall,
- 1:20:49but Kenny grabs him, he gets stabbed, and then Jodie comes
- 1:20:53out and she throws him through a window.
- 1:20:56Yeah. And it's a very fence, Yeah.
- 1:20:58Her dad was teaching. And it's very prom night because
- 1:21:01he falls and he lands on some debris outside and is stabbed
- 1:21:05through the tum tum. And then the deputy comes out,
- 1:21:07as you said, comes a Kimbo. Yeah.
- 1:21:11And just slides him up. Yeah, so.
- 1:21:15Jodi lies to the feds about knowing why Mr. Marlinson would
- 1:21:19have done this. Yeah, and Jodi and the mom both
- 1:21:22do. Yeah.
- 1:21:23They're like, I don't know. Like they're like, OK, why did
- 1:21:25he go to West Virginia? Like, I don't know, country
- 1:21:27roads to come. Home.
- 1:21:28Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So she then thinks that she sees
- 1:21:36him again out there stock and. But it's just, you know, one of
- 1:21:41those charming little PTSD flashbacks that show up for the
- 1:21:43rest of her life. Yeah, and then the water turns
- 1:21:46to blood then I don't. I can't.
- 1:21:48Well, that's just, yeah, that's just a natural phenomenon that
- 1:21:51needs to be studied, Yeah. You have a full boy, OK?
- 1:21:56And that's how it ends, people. I will bump it up a hair.
- 1:22:01To. 6.750. Yeah, I'll keep it at 7.
- 1:22:05So do 6.8. 75. Repeating force.
- 1:22:13Of course so. Leroy Jenkins.
- 1:22:19Don't ever say it like that ever again, Leroy.
- 1:22:22Jenkins. So I think like the one thing
- 1:22:26that I like, I just a couple of those shots like clean them up
- 1:22:29some and I don't think we need to revisit the rape scene as
- 1:22:32many times as we do. No, no, I I agree with that.
- 1:22:36Yeah, Yeah. I mean, I would like for them to
- 1:22:41give a better motive for killing the virgins.
- 1:22:44Make it make sense. Yeah, yeah, there's.
- 1:22:47Like, not even an attempt to do that.
- 1:22:49Yeah. Which just goes to show that
- 1:22:52this guy just wanted to write a fucking teenage orgy, which
- 1:22:54that's all it was. Why say that?
- 1:22:56Don't. You don't have to say that out
- 1:22:57loud. Yeah, I just.
- 1:22:59You shouldn't be proud of that, Sir.
- 1:23:01This. Guy probably identified with Mr.
- 1:23:02Marlinson. Yeah.
- 1:23:05All right, God, what did Talia think of it?
- 1:23:10Oh, well, Talia was very uncomfortable at the, like,
- 1:23:15virgin talk that Jodi and her father had.
- 1:23:18She immediately built a smut wall.
- 1:23:20That's what we call it when Talia decides that we're
- 1:23:23watching something that is too mature for her sweet little
- 1:23:25innocent eyes, and she takes all of her blankets and pillows and
- 1:23:28toys and makes it so she can't see the screen.
- 1:23:30I was beside her, and not only did she do that, she also took
- 1:23:34her little paw and covered her eyes.
- 1:23:36It was so adorable. So she she did also throw a
- 1:23:40tantrum at one point. She stole a cat toy.
- 1:23:44She was really just trying to, like, get the message across
- 1:23:47that she did not approve of this.
- 1:23:48So I think Talia, unfortunately, is going to give this a three.
- 1:23:52Yeah. OK, three, because she's looking
- 1:23:56out for me. As in herself.
- 1:23:57Yeah, 3 for me. She's playing kings.
- 1:24:00Yeah, yeah. Zoe's ultimate warrior.
- 1:24:05I think. I mean, is it Jodi, though?
- 1:24:13Because Jodi is like, she got knocked down and got back up
- 1:24:16again. Never going to keep her down.
- 1:24:18It's just like in the morning when I'm trying to like, portion
- 1:24:20out my little afternoon snack time popcorn for work and she
- 1:24:24jumps up about four or five times in the process of me doing
- 1:24:28that. OK.
- 1:24:30Yeah, that's about the only one I could think of, and that's
- 1:24:33good enough reason for me. All right.
- 1:24:37Who did you relate to? Oh, boy.
- 1:24:44I mean, I guess I probably like, related to Jodi, her whole,
- 1:24:48like, being upset that like, everybody just assumes that the
- 1:24:51only thing she could be upset about is her boyfriend.
- 1:24:53Like, yeah, there are bigger things in the world.
- 1:24:57All right, I could see that. And she stands up for what's
- 1:25:01right, and I try to do that. Man, I don't know, I I relate to
- 1:25:09what was his name? Timmy.
- 1:25:13The newspaper guy. Yeah, 'cause he was so
- 1:25:14fascinated with all the shit that was going on.
- 1:25:16And I would have been so, like, fascinated with him, too.
- 1:25:22Yeah, it, it, it was it was truly entertaining to watch,
- 1:25:26especially that press conference.
- 1:25:29So, yeah, sure, I'll relate to that.
- 1:25:31OK. All right.
- 1:25:35What's the dream? Dream sequel.
- 1:25:37OK, Dream sequel. OK, well let's see.
- 1:25:43This is one where I would like to see the aftermath of the town
- 1:25:48after this, because this has to affect so many people and
- 1:25:52families and stuff. OK, so let's say the town has
- 1:25:58developed, like, a comprehensive sex Ed program.
- 1:26:01Like, they're very progressive. Yeah, they've got national news
- 1:26:04because of this. So like, some religious
- 1:26:07abstinence only groups come in, and they start trying to push
- 1:26:10this agenda. A new killer pops up, copycat
- 1:26:13killer, also only killing virgins.
- 1:26:14And like, the church, people keep trying to, like, lure
- 1:26:17children in, and they're like, no, be safe, Protect your
- 1:26:20genitals. And then these kids keep getting
- 1:26:22killed. And like, we don't know what
- 1:26:23we're doing wrong here. I I would like for the steer in
- 1:26:27the opposite the direction where like they're like we fuck here,
- 1:26:31like they changed the whole name of the state from Virginia to
- 1:26:34Studginya, where you're like, they're like, we no virgins here
- 1:26:39we are. We're studs.
- 1:26:41We fuck. And then I guess I don't know,
- 1:26:46man, I really don't fucking know how to take this story.
- 1:26:50We'll do your thing. OK, Yeah.
- 1:26:52I mean, you actually had an idea, so that works better than
- 1:26:55mine. All right, tagline.
- 1:27:03My God. But in mine, the copycat killer
- 1:27:06is just a kid who's really desperate to try and get his
- 1:27:08girlfriend to sleep with him. Baby, Yeah, yeah, OK.
- 1:27:17OK, tagline. OK, well just read the taglines,
- 1:27:22the original ones. 1st The original ones were lose your
- 1:27:27innocence or lose your life. Innocence has never been dead
- 1:27:30weird at virgin high. It's put out or die.
- 1:27:33If you haven't had it, you've had it.
- 1:27:35What would you give to live and get laid or die?
- 1:27:39OK. What if we like steal from
- 1:27:46Scream Scream and it's a it's the sin factor.
- 1:27:51Or still from I don't know what movie it is, but get busy living
- 1:27:56or get busy dying. Get busy or get busy dying.
- 1:28:02Yeah, there we go. Get busy or get busy dying.
- 1:28:06OK, there we go. And I'm pretty sure it's
- 1:28:09Shawshank Redemption. OK, so I'm pretty sure it's
- 1:28:12Morgan Freeman's because Game Crumps is in your head.
- 1:28:16Yep. All right, Yeah, I've never seen
- 1:28:18trashing redemption. OK, OK.
- 1:28:22Think we can do reviews now? OK, how's that?
- 1:28:24Sound So I pulled a negative review on IMDb.
- 1:28:29It is titled. Well, I don't have the.
- 1:28:35Titles you cut off and I don't. Yeah, but it was rated 4 top
- 1:28:37ten. Yeah, OK, this was a review in
- 1:28:412015. Also, Cherry Falls is one of the
- 1:28:45many knuckleheaded slashers slasher films to come out in the
- 1:28:49wake of Wes Craven's Scream. Dude that did Gunther write this
- 1:28:52review? Because it sounds like the type
- 1:28:54of insulin he'd use. Cherry Falls is a movie written
- 1:28:57by a dork. Bunch of dorks.
- 1:29:00OK, and then, and it's a particularly pitiful effort for
- 1:29:05the genre, all the old tired cliches are dragged out here and
- 1:29:09treated as if they're fresh and exciting, even if they go
- 1:29:12through the same old routines time and time and again.
- 1:29:15There are stalking slash sequences, scenes of the heroin
- 1:29:18fighting off a vicious attacker, and more of the brain dead high
- 1:29:21school speak. Then then you can shake a stick
- 1:29:24gap. The one difference about this
- 1:29:26film is that the killer targets virgins rather than those who
- 1:29:28are sexually active. In films such as the Friday the
- 1:29:3113th series, it's usually the lascivious.
- 1:29:32What's that? Lascivious.
- 1:29:34Lascivious. Lascivious.
- 1:29:39Lascivious. It's usually the lascivious ones
- 1:29:42who die first. However, this twist makes not a
- 1:29:44shot of difference to the film itself, and indeed it's done
- 1:29:47away with by the time the climax rolls.
- 1:29:51OK, they knew what they were doing.
- 1:29:54This film has one of those glossy looks that are
- 1:29:56manufactured to hide imperfections in the story.
- 1:29:59There's no real plot here, so to speak, of just one of those old
- 1:30:03pass comes back to the haunt pass comes back to haunt origins
- 1:30:08for the villain, for the villain that used to be good and the
- 1:30:13likes of the burning God. That wasn't fucking sin.
- 1:30:16Instead, it was hard for me to process.
- 1:30:19The film is indebted to Psycho in a big way, but whereas
- 1:30:22Hitchcock's thriller was taught, taught and super superlative,
- 1:30:26fuck me, this is just a flat and lifeless movie.
- 1:30:30It feels like nothing more than a cast and crew going through
- 1:30:33the motions to pick up a payday afterwards.
- 1:30:38Britney Murphy used to be one of the most irritating actresses in
- 1:30:42Hollywood, although she seemed to have mellowed by the time I
- 1:30:45saw her in Sin City. I hope her turn here.
- 1:30:48I hoped her turn here would be like the one in the latter film,
- 1:30:51but no, it's like the one in Drive instead, all throaty
- 1:30:55vocals and high pitched squealing.
- 1:30:57It's really bad. Other than the unremarkable
- 1:31:00teenage cast, the only familiar face is Michael Bean playing the
- 1:31:03town sheriff. This is a kind of role that
- 1:31:06anybody could have filled, and there's nothing of the humanity
- 1:31:09being brought to the likes of Reese and the Terminator and
- 1:31:12Hicks and aliens here. Cherry Falls is a film
- 1:31:14singularly devoid of motive, intent, terror and suspense.
- 1:31:19And short it pants. OK, like like I said, I think
- 1:31:25it's a fun movie. I think it's under appreciated.
- 1:31:28I don't think it's like a great movie, but I don't think it's as
- 1:31:30bad as all that. Yeah, I really don't think it's
- 1:31:32that bad. I think it's a really good
- 1:31:34movie, honestly. Yeah.
- 1:31:37I mean, it's like it's not fresh with the stuff that it's doing
- 1:31:42here. I think the only thing is really
- 1:31:43trying to poke fun at is the whole killing virgins trope and.
- 1:31:47You know, I mean, it does feel painfully 90s.
- 1:31:50Yeah, but I I like that I like 90 slashers.
- 1:31:53That's yeah, that's the area that I'm comfortable in and I
- 1:31:57don't have a problem with that. I think if it's the bill nice
- 1:32:00for that. If you like 90 slashers, you
- 1:32:02should really like this one. But if you're really against
- 1:32:04like the post scream slasher era, then you're really not
- 1:32:08going to have a good time with this one.
- 1:32:10So yeah, we'll probably feel like this person.
- 1:32:14And if you don't like Brittany Murphy, you should probably not
- 1:32:17watch this too, because she's the star of it.
- 1:32:20So. This is fairly early on in her
- 1:32:22career too. She's good.
- 1:32:23I don't understand how you can complain about her performance
- 1:32:26here. She did a great job if you ask
- 1:32:28me. Like to each their own, but I
- 1:32:30don't understand how anybody can complain about Brittany Murphy
- 1:32:32just in general. Just in general.
- 1:32:34That's fair. All right, so let's go to
- 1:32:37listener reviews. So Cube saves says.
- 1:32:41Didn't expect it to be so much about virginity.
- 1:32:45Yeah, that, yeah, that's, that's a fair review.
- 1:32:50Yeah, JW of Clyde Leatham. Of course JW knows this movie.
- 1:32:58In all caps he just replied, I lived for this movie.
- 1:33:02Of course he lived for this movie.
- 1:33:05Thanks, JW. Yeah, yeah, I JW is true.
- 1:33:09Yeah, he's real. He's true.
- 1:33:12And I appreciate that. OK.
- 1:33:15And that's the only. Yeah, there were a lot of people
- 1:33:19that were like, I've never heard of this Navy.
- 1:33:20I hope you people have found a way to watch it and have enjoyed
- 1:33:24it. Those of you on the borrowing
- 1:33:26train for us, I hope you enjoy it.
- 1:33:29Yeah, it's worth a watch at least, you know, like it's it's
- 1:33:33a fun time. I like it.
- 1:33:35I recommend it to anybody, really.
- 1:33:37This isn't a movie that I would be like, I'm gonna be selective
- 1:33:41with who I recommend it to. No, I don't think anybody should
- 1:33:43watch this movie. Yeah, I don't know if I would
- 1:33:47recommend it to like super casual horror fans like, oh, I
- 1:33:51watch an occasional 1. I think you have to understand a
- 1:33:53little bit of the fun of the tongue in cheek of like the
- 1:33:57Virgin always lives. Yeah, well, I don't think this
- 1:34:00movie hinges on that. I think it's fun.
- 1:34:03I think it's a fun in thing for people aware of the trope.
- 1:34:06But I think even people that don't know that, I don't think
- 1:34:09you have to know about that to get.
- 1:34:11Like, I just think it seems weirder if you don't know about
- 1:34:13it, you know what I mean? Well, I I think that that
- 1:34:16probably plays to the benefit of a horror movie.
- 1:34:19OK. OK, so yeah, that's it for
- 1:34:22Cherry Falls. Next week we gonna get sad.
- 1:34:27We're talking about the sadness. Serious.
- 1:34:29I'm furious. It's.
- 1:34:30A good movie, man, it's a good movie.
- 1:34:31So fucking. Good, I'm furious that I have to
- 1:34:33watch again and talk about it cuz it bums me out.
- 1:34:36Yeah, it goes hard, so be prepared, but it's a good time.
- 1:34:40You can watch that on shutter. Yes, Shutter, AMC Plus, Philo,
- 1:34:44YouTube Primetime, Sling TV Premium, Prime Premium, YouTube
- 1:34:48TV Premium, or you can rent it from Fandango at home.
- 1:34:50All I have to say, it's all through AMC Plus subscriptions.
- 1:34:53So yeah, you have to have that to.
- 1:34:55Be able to. I like to list them all out
- 1:34:57because sometimes people have part of it like they don't have
- 1:35:00the full bundle. You know what?
- 1:35:01I mean, but if you you know, you know, it's like I'm subscribed
- 1:35:04to AMC. So I now have a.
- 1:35:06Yeah. That so yeah, the the true thing
- 1:35:08is you have to have AMC for that or shutter.
- 1:35:10I think shutter is also one of the things you can get on there.
- 1:35:13But yeah, I I recommend it absolutely try and launch.
- 1:35:17It you can get AMC through prime too.
- 1:35:19So like it's just shutter awesome.
- 1:35:21Yeah, there's like a lot of different ways to connect, so
- 1:35:23that's why I like to read all the options.
- 1:35:25I gotcha. Yeah.
- 1:35:27So, yeah, you know, watch it if you can.
- 1:35:29Yeah, I absolutely recommend. It it's very good, just be
- 1:35:32prepared to like give yourself time to decompress after.
- 1:35:36You'll need to process it, yeah, that's for sure.
- 1:35:38Don't watch it alone. Well, I mean, I don't you don't
- 1:35:41have that option. Yeah, I'm just like if you have
- 1:35:44the option and I'll watch it alone Yeah cuz like again, you
- 1:35:48feel things after yourself. It's.
- 1:35:50The sadness, people, it's not the happiness.
- 1:35:54All right, all right. Thank our people.
- 1:35:56Thank you, people. No, thank you.
