- 0:00Speaker 1: I mean, just perfect weather-wise, 67 degrees, nice breeze out there,
- 0:04Speaker 1: low humidity. Good to be with you here this afternoon.
- 0:07Speaker 1: I want to finish my conversation with this caller. I
- 0:10Speaker 1: do agree with the points that he made prior to
- 0:13Speaker 1: the 4 o'clock news break when he said he feels
- 0:19Speaker 1: concerned about the younger generation and what we're leaving them.
- 0:23Speaker 1: So I'll give you an aye-aye, Captain, on that. But
- 0:25Speaker 1: go ahead with what you were going to say.
- 0:27Speaker 2: We can get rid of gerrymandering. Americans are lazy, just
- 0:32Speaker 2: downright lazy. But I'm going to tell you an incident
- 0:36Speaker 2: that happened.
- 0:37Speaker 1: Okay, okay. Wait a second. You were talking about voting.
- 0:40Speaker 1: That's right. I mean, there's a big difference on how
- 0:42Speaker 1: we do that voting in Ohio versus California. The reality
- 0:46Speaker 1: is the California system is cause for concern. Jimmy Carter
- 0:52Speaker 1: said it, and it's a fact. Mail-in balloting can be
- 0:57Speaker 1: ripe with fraud. If you're mailing everybody a ballot... which
- 1:01Speaker 1: is what they're doing in California and some other states.
- 1:04Speaker 1: I repeat, you don't know if they're dead. You don't
- 1:06Speaker 1: know if they moved. You don't know who's voting that ballot.
- 1:10Speaker 1: And it's just, you don't know if they're going down
- 1:13Speaker 1: saying to some homeless guy, I give you 10 bucks,
- 1:16Speaker 1: which is reported if you vote this way. Some of
- 1:19Speaker 1: it doesn't give you confidence and security in your voting system.
- 1:23Speaker 1: How we do it in Ohio is much better and
- 1:25Speaker 1: much more secure, how they do it in Florida. I'm
- 1:28Speaker 1: just a dead set against... I'm concerned, I would say
- 1:32Speaker 1: this to you, that we're getting some things that should
- 1:34Speaker 1: not be political that are becoming political. We're starting to
- 1:37Speaker 1: see that too much as far as judges are concerned
- 1:40Speaker 1: and the judiciary. I've said this before. I grew up
- 1:43Speaker 1: thinking a judge is a judge, and they pretty much
- 1:46Speaker 1: were for most of my life. It really didn't matter
- 1:49Speaker 1: who you put in that seat. They were supposed to
- 1:51Speaker 1: sit there and hear the case and hear the evidence
- 1:53Speaker 1: and render a verdict based on their knowledge and understanding
- 1:58Speaker 1: of the law and the Constitution. And that's pretty much
- 2:01Speaker 1: how it was most of my life until, what would
- 2:04Speaker 1: you say, the last 15 years or so, when all
- 2:07Speaker 1: of a sudden it became so political with a lot
- 2:09Speaker 1: of these judges. You would see that they would bring
- 2:12Speaker 1: their personal views in, whether liberal or conservative. When it
- 2:16Speaker 1: came to rendering their decision or some of the nonsense
- 2:20Speaker 1: that you would see these judges decisions that they would
- 2:23Speaker 1: be making based on a person's politics or their skin color,
- 2:27Speaker 1: whether they were lenient sentences or too strict sentences. So
- 2:32Speaker 1: the judicial system got too political. And I'm afraid voting
- 2:35Speaker 1: and you lose confidence in it. You lose confidence in
- 2:38Speaker 1: a judicial system because of the politics involved. You lose
- 2:41Speaker 1: confidence in the judicial system when you see the politics
- 2:44Speaker 1: involved in a Supreme Court. I'm going to make sure
- 2:47Speaker 1: it's a black female, not the best legal minds in
- 2:49Speaker 1: a country that should be on the Supreme Court. That
- 2:53Speaker 1: troubles me a great deal, just as it troubles me
- 2:55Speaker 1: to say I'm losing confidence in our election system when
- 3:00Speaker 1: you have people that say you shouldn't have to show
- 3:02Speaker 1: an ID when you go and vote, or you shouldn't
- 3:05Speaker 1: be more secure on who gets a mail-out ballot. We
- 3:09Speaker 1: should have the utmost confidence in that system. I leave
- 3:12Speaker 1: you with that, but go ahead.
- 3:14Speaker 2: Oh, I have never had any problem with the rules
- 3:19Speaker 2: of voting here in the state of Ohio. I have
- 3:23Speaker 2: never had any problems. We want to see this. It
- 3:26Speaker 2: used to be you could take down your rent, your gas,
- 3:29Speaker 2: your electric, and then if you didn't have a driver's
- 3:32Speaker 2: license or you didn't have an Ohio card. But showing
- 3:36Speaker 2: the driver's license, you get it. My granddaughter did. I
- 3:39Speaker 2: begged her and begged her and begged her when she
- 3:41Speaker 2: got to the age of vote. Go down and vote. Oh,
- 3:44Speaker 2: I don't have the time, Grandpa. Well, please, please. She
- 3:47Speaker 2: went down, did all the paperwork, called me up, said, well, Grandpa,
- 3:51Speaker 2: I did what you did. And I asked them for
- 3:53Speaker 2: a mail-in ballot, but it was too early. Time came
- 3:56Speaker 2: for the mail-in ballot. I called her up and said,
- 3:58Speaker 2: call in for your ballot. She called in for her ballot,
- 4:01Speaker 2: and they said it was eliminated. And I'm going, what?
- 4:09Speaker 1: Listen, I don't know what her particular situation is. I've
- 4:12Speaker 1: got to tell you, you and I grew up at
- 4:13Speaker 1: a time which wasn't that big a deal when you
- 4:16Speaker 1: went and voted on one particular day. I mean, you
- 4:20Speaker 1: had from 6 in the morning– till 7 at night
- 4:25Speaker 1: I mean it wasn't that big a deal to go
- 4:27Speaker 1: vote in my opinion at all you know what I mean.
- 4:32Speaker 2: I understand but a lot of times that came up
- 4:35Speaker 2: at 6 o'clock in the morning I was pretty much
- 4:38Speaker 2: on my way out the door to go to work
- 4:40Speaker 2: and by the time I got back home I was
- 4:43Speaker 2: oh just so glad to be home that sort of
- 4:46Speaker 2: deal that's how I turned into send me the ballot
- 4:52Speaker 2: sort of person. And I understand what you're saying, but
- 4:56Speaker 2: the people in America are just plain lazy. We can
- 4:59Speaker 2: get rid of all that stuff by just people coming
- 5:02Speaker 2: out and voting. I mean, so far, with always jacking
- 5:09Speaker 2: up our debt, the conservative Republicans, along with some of
- 5:13Speaker 2: those knucklehead Democrats that went along with it in the past,
- 5:17Speaker 2: every one of them boneheads should have been voted out.
- 5:22Speaker 2: In the state of Ohio, I mean, take a look
- 5:23Speaker 2: at the mess we're in now because nobody was paying attention.
- 5:27Speaker 2: We should just vote them people out. Okay, so it
- 5:30Speaker 2: leaves a bad taste in your mouth for you because
- 5:33Speaker 2: you may only have a choice to vote for a Democrat.
- 5:38Speaker 2: And I can fully understand this. Now, this next governor election,
- 5:42Speaker 2: I wouldn't vote for Ram Slam. I'm sorry, I don't
- 5:45Speaker 2: mean to mess up his name. But he does not
- 5:50Speaker 2: understand the culture of it. He doesn't understand being an American.
- 5:56Speaker 2: And why would we trust somebody that went to an
- 6:01Speaker 2: elite school where he was treated in that manner, thinking
- 6:07Speaker 2: that he knew what was right and everybody else knew
- 6:09Speaker 2: what was wrong?
- 6:10Speaker 3: He doesn't.
- 6:13Speaker 2: He doesn't know what to do to get up every
- 6:15Speaker 2: morning five or six days a week at at seven
- 6:19Speaker 2: or six or five to go to work and then
- 6:21Speaker 2: work all day and come back home and wonder if
- 6:24Speaker 2: he's going to be able to make enough money to
- 6:25Speaker 2: pay his bills he's never had that problem and he
- 6:31Speaker 2: never will have that problem the same thing with trump
- 6:33Speaker 2: he never had that problem he never worried about it
- 6:37Speaker 2: he could have cared less i'm just saying that this
- 6:41Speaker 2: kind of nonsense is on and on and on and
- 6:44Speaker 2: i compute Because since Reagan, how many Republican presidents, how
- 6:50Speaker 2: many Republican Congress, and look at us now, my God.
- 6:56Speaker 2: They've taken so much money out of the Social Security
- 6:59Speaker 2: interest fund, they can't seem to figure a way to
- 7:03Speaker 2: do it. Well, yes, there is. Take some of them
- 7:07Speaker 2: tax breaks off, and if they find a person who
- 7:10Speaker 2: did not do their taxes right, You've got to pay
- 7:13Speaker 2: the taxes, you've got to pay the fine, and you've
- 7:15Speaker 2: got to pay the interest. You take all that money
- 7:18Speaker 2: and you put it right back into all of it,
- 7:20Speaker 2: every single penny, and put it right back into Social Security.
- 7:25Speaker 2: And it'll help some, but not enough, but at least
- 7:28Speaker 2: help some, and take away some of them tax breaks.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Because all it did was lead the state of Ohio
- 7:34Speaker 2: deeper into debt because of it.
- 7:40Speaker 1: So you won't vote for Vivek? I should say you'll
- 7:44Speaker 1: vote for Amy Acton?
- 7:47Speaker 2: Yes, because what I've seen so far, and I'll look
- 7:50Speaker 2: it up and someday I'll call you and I'll tell
- 7:52Speaker 2: you what I've totally found out about her. But I'm
- 7:56Speaker 2: not going to let some guy that's a millionaire because
- 7:58Speaker 2: his mom and dad helped him be a millionaire tell
- 8:01Speaker 2: me that I'm wrong and that he's right. He has
- 8:05Speaker 2: no idea because his concept is Elite, I'm right and
- 8:10Speaker 2: you're wrong. I hear you.
- 8:12Speaker 1: All right, thank you.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Boy, you want to know something else?
- 8:15Speaker 1: What's that?
- 8:16Speaker 2: Today was such a beautiful day. Take my fishing pole out,
- 8:21Speaker 2: put a kite on the end of it, and let
- 8:22Speaker 2: it go.
- 8:26Speaker 1: Well, I'm glad that you did that, okay? Have a
- 8:31Speaker 1: good day. I was going to make a joke, but
- 8:33Speaker 1: I couldn't do it. It's probably not appropriate. You're on
- 8:35Speaker 1: the air.
- 8:37Speaker 4: Ron?
- 8:38Speaker 1: Oh, jeez.
- 8:41Speaker 4: I am feeling so patriotic today.
- 8:43Speaker 1: Well, I bring that out in people. I absolutely bring
- 8:47Speaker 1: that out in people.
- 8:48Speaker 5: Well, I'm not so sure that it was from you.
- 8:50Speaker 4: Oh, I see.
- 8:52Speaker 5: I mean, you didn't make me unpatriotic, but I don't
- 8:56Speaker 5: know if you're the reason that I'm so enthusiastic today.
- 9:01Speaker 5: Can you imagine why I'm so enthusiastic? I mean, you
- 9:05Speaker 5: might not have watched it, but there's zero chance you
- 9:07Speaker 5: didn't see the clips.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Right, I saw the clips. I did not watch it.
- 9:11Speaker 5: Did you see that formation, that super delta formation with
- 9:16Speaker 5: the blue angels and the thunderbirds?
- 9:17Speaker 1: Well, that's always outstanding when I go to the air show, yeah.
- 9:22Speaker 5: It was unbelievable. That was the best event. I don't
- 9:27Speaker 5: know how you ever top that. For the 250th.
- 9:31Speaker 4: Birthday of this country. It was so unbelievably impressive.
- 9:37Speaker 5: The flags, the fact that they had the, they had
- 9:40Speaker 5: that Marine band was outstanding. They were unbelievable. This walkout
- 9:46Speaker 5: songs of these fighters were the military members singing them,
- 9:50Speaker 5: not like, you know, music playing. They were singing them.
- 9:53Speaker 5: The escorts of these fighters coming out were, you know, people,
- 9:59Speaker 5: it retired military heroes and first responders.
- 10:04Speaker 4: It was.
- 10:06Speaker 5: Unbelievable. I'll never forget it. We'll never have anything like
- 10:09Speaker 5: that again. It shattered every record.
- 10:12Speaker 4: Every record for views. It was above and beyond what
- 10:16Speaker 4: they even expected. The UFC paid for it.
- 10:20Speaker 5: With paramount it was it was unbelievable you you should
- 10:24Speaker 5: all watch it free admission for the troops their families
- 10:30Speaker 5: um the the the background with the white house and
- 10:32Speaker 5: the fireworks afterwards with those that for me oh my
- 10:36Speaker 5: god it was it was it was unbelievable i didn't
- 10:37Speaker 5: go to bed till 1 30.
- 10:40Speaker 1: My god no wonder you're so cranky you didn't get
- 10:43Speaker 1: enough sleep.
- 10:45Speaker 5: It was so bad. People crying about that, they were wrong.
- 10:49Speaker 5: It was so classy. Yeah, that one fighter, he's not
- 10:53Speaker 5: my favorite.
- 10:54Speaker 4: I don't like that guy. I think he's just, you know.
- 10:57Speaker 5: The reason why I don't like him isn't because of
- 10:58Speaker 5: what he said.
- 10:59Speaker 4: About Michelle Obama, but he's always a nutbag. Okay, so see,
- 11:02Speaker 4: this is why.
- 11:03Speaker 1: I can say, I respect the boss lady. Because, see,
- 11:10Speaker 1: this is what I respect. Because you watched it, you
- 11:13Speaker 1: enjoyed it. Now, I did not see it. And I
- 11:15Speaker 1: respect your opinion, just as I do Ted the Conservative.
- 11:17Speaker 1: He said it was great. And he got tired a
- 11:20Speaker 1: period of time, too. But he said it was great.
- 11:23Speaker 1: But this is what I respect about you. You said
- 11:26Speaker 1: the thing that is true. In that type of situation...
- 11:29Speaker 1: show respect for, I don't care whether you like Obama
- 11:32Speaker 1: and his wife or not, but don't, don't be on a,
- 11:35Speaker 1: on that grounds and insult his wife. I mean, it's
- 11:38Speaker 1: just wrong.
- 11:39Speaker 4: That guy, he's an idiot.
- 11:40Speaker 5: He's always an idiot. Even Dana White, Dana White's not
- 11:44Speaker 5: a fan.
- 11:44Speaker 4: Of him either. I mean, everybody knows he's just a goofball.
- 11:47Speaker 5: He's an amazing fighter, but he's trying to, I think
- 11:50Speaker 5: he's trying to, he almost makes it like, um, WWE.
- 11:54Speaker 5: And this is absolutely not, uh, wwe which is more
- 11:59Speaker 5: of a a show i can't even stand wwe but
- 12:03Speaker 5: people enjoyed that but i mean i couldn't have thought
- 12:07Speaker 5: of a better.
- 12:07Speaker 4: Way to celebrate the entire world was watching this event
- 12:11Speaker 4: well i.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Wasn't i wasn't watching.
- 12:14Speaker 5: I know you missed i don't know.
- 12:16Speaker 1: What time what time did you tune in.
- 12:19Speaker 5: You got to see, I watched the entire from the first.
- 12:22Speaker 4: 15 minutes ahead of time.
- 12:23Speaker 1: When did it start?
- 12:24Speaker 5: You got to see the inside of the White House.
- 12:27Speaker 5: These fighters walked the halls in awe, escorted by ex-military
- 12:33Speaker 5: heroes and first responders. It was a view of the
- 12:36Speaker 5: White House that you've never seen. It was, I'm going
- 12:38Speaker 5: to tell you, I'll never, I won't stop talking about
- 12:41Speaker 5: this for years. It was so unbelievable. You couldn't even
- 12:44Speaker 5: have done a better event. It was so well done. Trump,
- 12:50Speaker 5: I bet, is smiling from ear to ear. This Iran deal.
- 12:54Speaker 5: And that night, he's got to be walking on cloud
- 12:58Speaker 5: nine right now. And the gas and oil, what was it,
- 13:03Speaker 5: $ 85 a barrel or $ 80 something?
- 13:04Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 13:05Speaker 5: I saw it quickly on Flash on the screen. I mean,
- 13:09Speaker 5: you know, he rallied.
- 13:12Speaker 4: He's rallying right now.
- 13:13Speaker 5: So we just got to hope that everything continues to
- 13:16Speaker 5: go in the right direction. We don't know what was
- 13:17Speaker 5: in that Iran deal. Not one person knows what was
- 13:21Speaker 5: in it because they haven't released all the details.
- 13:23Speaker 4: We just have the highlights.
- 13:24Speaker 5: So we're all, you know, we got to, we're hoping that,
- 13:28Speaker 5: but to me, he's had a, A hell of a
- 13:30Speaker 5: couple days here, and I don't understand it is what
- 13:33Speaker 5: I don't understand. I don't understand it. This is not
- 13:36Speaker 5: something that's in my line of expertise, but I don't
- 13:39Speaker 5: understand how these barrels of oil go from one place
- 13:41Speaker 5: to another and for no apparent reason, and everybody's going
- 13:45Speaker 5: to get on here and tell me all the reasons why,
- 13:46Speaker 5: and none of them make sense because they don't hold true. Yeah.
- 13:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:52Speaker 1: I don't know how it dropped so fast.
- 13:54Speaker 5: How did it drop so fast? I don't understand.
- 13:56Speaker 1: Stand by. Stand by. Stand by. I've got to calm
- 13:59Speaker 1: her down. It's the boss lady. She's out of control.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Back with her in a minute. 570 WKBN. We're on
- 14:09Speaker 1: Verb News Radio 570 WKBN. Onward we go. I mean,
- 14:13Speaker 1: I'm just trying to calm you down. You're on such
- 14:15Speaker 1: a high today. I don't want you. I don't want
- 14:17Speaker 1: you like I don't want you overheating or whatever. I mean,
- 14:21Speaker 1: you know, having some. some meltdown or something like that
- 14:25Speaker 1: i mean it's just so what so what time did
- 14:27Speaker 1: this start i don't even know what time did this.
- 14:29Speaker 5: Show start uh eight o'clock it was a little late
- 14:31Speaker 5: because of uh rain or her weather um it was
- 14:34Speaker 5: outside i mean that's like they said you should i
- 14:37Speaker 5: there was some commentating about how these title fights should
- 14:40Speaker 5: have never been out i mean you should not even
- 14:42Speaker 5: have one outside because those mats get real slippery and
- 14:45Speaker 5: it was incredible they had a little bit Sweating and everything.
- 14:51Speaker 1: Do you enjoy watching those fights?
- 14:55Speaker 5: I absolutely love it because I'm a big wrestling fan.
- 14:59Speaker 4: You know my kids wrestle.
- 15:01Speaker 5: My son still wrestles in college. My husband coached wrestling
- 15:05Speaker 5: for years. We love it. We're just big wrestling fans.
- 15:09Speaker 5: I think I said this once maybe to you, maybe
- 15:11Speaker 5: not to.
- 15:15Speaker 1: I can remember getting in high school gym class back
- 15:18Speaker 1: in the day. You had a segment where you had
- 15:21Speaker 1: to wrestle in your weight class in gym. Wrestling is exhausting.
- 15:25Speaker 1: If you wrestle... It zaps all the strength and energy
- 15:32Speaker 1: out of your body for that short period of time
- 15:35Speaker 1: in gym class to where the next period, whatever class
- 15:37Speaker 1: it was that you had to go to next, you
- 15:39Speaker 1: were physically drained and exhausted. I mean, wrestling is just
- 15:43Speaker 1: an intense sport. It's hard.
- 15:47Speaker 4: It's intense.
- 15:48Speaker 5: It's extreme conditioning, heated rooms, explosiveness. You got endurance, flexibility, strength,
- 15:56Speaker 5: mental toughness. I mean, you got weight management.
- 15:59Speaker 1: I mean, all of that.
- 16:00Speaker 4: It's the toughest of the toughest.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Yeah, and you're giving it all you have against... your, uh, opponents.
- 16:06Speaker 5: I mean, it's, there's no place to hide Ron.
- 16:09Speaker 4: That's why I love it.
- 16:10Speaker 3: Right.
- 16:10Speaker 5: It exposes.
- 16:11Speaker 1: Well, for, for me, there was right on humbler for me.
- 16:14Speaker 1: There was right on my back was where I could hide. Um,
- 16:17Speaker 1: As the referee said, one, two, three. Okay.
- 16:21Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 16:23Speaker 1: But you know what?
- 16:24Speaker 5: In a country where we have demasculinized men, this was
- 16:29Speaker 5: such a, oh, my God.
- 16:30Speaker 4: To see. The physicality, the toughness. I loved it.
- 16:34Speaker 5: What if, and I know you don't like the truth
- 16:37Speaker 5: too wrong, so make a right. I'm with you, but
- 16:39Speaker 5: sometimes you need some still worth a mention. We went
- 16:42Speaker 5: from rainbow flag columns and twirling.
- 16:47Speaker 3: Yes.
- 16:47Speaker 5: I don't even know what you call it, too.
- 16:49Speaker 4: The physicality. Oh, my God.
- 16:51Speaker 5: Ron, you've got to watch it. Anybody who disagrees with me,
- 16:54Speaker 5: they're insane.
- 16:56Speaker 1: We call it as it is. Any man that disagrees
- 16:59Speaker 1: with you in your eyes, boss lady, in your Italian
- 17:04Speaker 1: eyes is a wimp.
- 17:06Speaker 4: Wimp, a wimp, stuff it up.
- 17:08Speaker 5: I get that. You know, and Rich said it's a
- 17:10Speaker 5: little barbaric. I mean, I get that. It's a little tough.
- 17:14Speaker 5: It's a little tough. But, you know, I was just
- 17:16Speaker 5: telling my husband, we were talking about it last night,
- 17:19Speaker 5: and they have fewer injuries, I guess, according to my husband.
- 17:22Speaker 5: I don't know what, you know, there's no fatalities than boxing.
- 17:27Speaker 5: It just looks more rough. Because it's mixed martial arts.
- 17:32Speaker 5: It's combining boxing. What's the difference between boxing and mixed
- 17:35Speaker 5: martial arts? You've got jiu-jitsu. You've got wrestling, grappling, all
- 17:39Speaker 5: of that. It's all the physicality, and those gloves are
- 17:42Speaker 5: like nothing. But nobody's getting killed.
- 17:47Speaker 1: Yeah, on the financial show, John Arnold, he does that
- 17:51Speaker 1: jiu-jitsu stuff. And I'm telling you, even in training classes
- 17:55Speaker 1: that they go to and learn it.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 17:58Speaker 1: I mean, they kick the crap out of you. I mean,
- 18:00Speaker 1: it is intense, man. I mean, when you go there,
- 18:05Speaker 1: it's not just all practice. Then there's these matches where
- 18:09Speaker 1: when you leave, you learn a lesson. Let's put it
- 18:12Speaker 1: that way. Never say, I think John Earl once told me,
- 18:17Speaker 1: never say, oh, okay, this guy's a wimp. I'm going
- 18:19Speaker 1: to get him because if he's a guy that knows jujitsu, man,
- 18:22Speaker 1: he'll kick your ass.
- 18:23Speaker 4: I would even say wrestling. I'd say wrestling, even over boxing.
- 18:29Speaker 5: Because you just don't want to. You could box.
- 18:33Speaker 4: That's great.
- 18:33Speaker 5: Because you're going to get taken straight to the ground
- 18:35Speaker 5: and pounded on. So hopefully you can fight off your back.
- 18:39Speaker 5: Because if you can't, you're in trouble.
- 18:42Speaker 6: I love it.
- 18:43Speaker 1: I love it. The one and only Boss Lady. Thank you,
- 18:45Speaker 1: Boss Lady.
- 18:46Speaker 4: We'll be back.
- 18:47Speaker 1: News Radio 570 WKVN. Back to it.
- 18:48Speaker 2: News Radio 570 WKVN.
- 18:49Speaker 1: You're on the air.
- 18:55Speaker 3: Yes i run how you doing good the caller a
- 19:00Speaker 3: couple callers ago was pessimistic on on everything i'm pretty
- 19:04Speaker 3: optimistic today after listening to an interview with ron barron
- 19:09Speaker 3: on uh... the morning stock show where he's the he
- 19:14Speaker 3: purchased one billion uh... spacex shares and he lifted his
- 19:20Speaker 3: total purchase to twenty five billion but he is so
- 19:24Speaker 3: I don't know if you know who Ron Barron is.
- 19:25Speaker 3: He's the billionaire philanthropist. He runs the Barron Mutual Funds.
- 19:32Speaker 3: And he is very optimistic on the country, and specifically
- 19:38Speaker 3: because we have people like Elon Musk who are changing
- 19:43Speaker 3: everything for the better. And he said he's so far ahead.
- 19:50Speaker 3: of everyone else. He's 10 to 15 years ahead of
- 19:54Speaker 3: everybody else. And he gave a lot of positive points
- 20:01Speaker 3: on the news. You asked me last Friday, would you
- 20:03Speaker 3: buy SpaceX? And I said no. I don't buy IPOs,
- 20:08Speaker 3: and today it was up to, I think it hit
- 20:10Speaker 3: 192 today. It was up like 20%.
- 20:13Speaker 1: Okay, okay, just back up for me a bit. So
- 20:17Speaker 1: you saw this guy on what, what was this guy's name?
- 20:21Speaker 3: Ron Barron. He's an 82-year-old. He's like Warren Buffett. He's
- 20:25Speaker 3: not as rich as Warren Buffett, but they have the
- 20:28Speaker 3: same philosophy. He's an old-timer, buy, hold, don't sell, don't
- 20:33Speaker 3: day trade, but... hedge your stocks. He runs the Barron Funds.
- 20:38Speaker 3: And he gave his insight into the stock and what
- 20:44Speaker 3: Musk is doing. And it's fascinating. But he runs the
- 20:49Speaker 3: Barron Capital. That's the name of the company. But he's
- 20:54Speaker 3: not as rich as Buffett. But he's very optimistic on
- 20:58Speaker 3: the country going forward and the stock market. But Well,
- 21:04Speaker 3: we're going to have a pullback or a correction, but
- 21:06Speaker 3: it's not going to be... I think near-term we're fine.
- 21:09Speaker 3: I think it's going to be six months out. We're
- 21:12Speaker 3: going to get... I'm going to get away from Trump
- 21:15Speaker 3: and politics. But I was happy what happened. I was
- 21:18Speaker 3: happy with the deal. I was happy that oil was
- 21:22Speaker 3: coming down. That was one of the hurdles for the market,
- 21:27Speaker 3: the price of oil and the... IPO of SpaceX is over.
- 21:32Speaker 3: That was another big thing to digest for the market.
- 21:36Speaker 3: Now we'll see what happens. The third piece is the
- 21:39Speaker 3: Fed's comments next week. We'll see what happens. And on oil,
- 21:44Speaker 3: I wish you'd have Mr. Leiden call in and explain
- 21:47Speaker 3: to everybody. He used to call once in a while.
- 21:50Speaker 1: So you're saying, just so I'm digesting this correctly, because
- 21:54Speaker 1: you're a smart guy, you're saying that... You're comfortable with
- 22:01Speaker 1: buying SpaceX, right?
- 22:05Speaker 3: No, just the opposite. I wouldn't buy SpaceX. The ordinary
- 22:09Speaker 3: person shouldn't buy an individual stock. 99% of the people
- 22:14Speaker 3: just buy a mutual fund or have an expert, have
- 22:17Speaker 3: a pro do it for you. What I'm going to
- 22:20Speaker 3: do is I'm waiting tomorrow for the options to open
- 22:23Speaker 3: so I can look at the options chain. tomorrow morning,
- 22:26Speaker 3: and then I'll make my determination what I'm going to
- 22:29Speaker 3: do with SpaceX with options. What's going to happen with SpaceX?
- 22:34Speaker 3: You're okay from now until the lockup expires, which will
- 22:39Speaker 3: be six months out, when all of the insiders that
- 22:42Speaker 3: bought at the IPO price of $ 135 a share will
- 22:47Speaker 3: be allowed to sell their shares. Right now, they're prohibited
- 22:51Speaker 3: from selling their shares. They have to hold them for
- 22:53Speaker 3: a six-month period. So once that lockup hits, you're going
- 22:57Speaker 3: to release a massive supply of SpaceX, and it's going
- 23:02Speaker 3: to be very volatile. The price could drop down. But
- 23:06Speaker 3: what I'm going to be doing is doing monthly options
- 23:10Speaker 3: on it for the next two to three or four months.
- 23:14Speaker 3: Not buying the stock itself, just selling the options, cash-secured
- 23:19Speaker 3: put options on it. and get paid to buy the
- 23:22Speaker 3: stock if it does hit that premium or strike price.
- 23:27Speaker 1: I'm trying to figure this all out. I mean, so
- 23:31Speaker 1: there's huge... Just help me with what I'm not grasping here.
- 23:34Speaker 1: SpaceX and Elon Musk and SpaceX has a huge following.
- 23:39Speaker 1: So there's huge demand for that stock from the IPO, right?
- 23:43Speaker 1: I mean, there's huge demand. Everybody wants it at whatever
- 23:46Speaker 1: the price was, what, $ 130?
- 23:47Speaker 3: It opened at $ 150 yesterday.
- 23:50Speaker 1: Okay, but everyone wants it and... And so they want
- 23:55Speaker 1: to get a piece of it. Some people even say
- 23:58Speaker 1: it will merge with Tesla.
- 24:00Speaker 3: It's going to merge with Tesla in a year. It's
- 24:04Speaker 3: like a 90% probability.
- 24:06Speaker 1: Oh, okay. So if you wanted to buy it today,
- 24:09Speaker 1: how much would it cost today?
- 24:11Speaker 3: Well, you can buy it right now. In the aftermarket,
- 24:15Speaker 3: if you're qualified to buy in the aftermarket, you can
- 24:18Speaker 3: trade from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Well, forget the aftermarket. For regular people, what would they
- 24:23Speaker 1: have to pay to buy it?
- 24:24Speaker 3: $ 192.
- 24:24Speaker 1: 50.
- 24:25Speaker 3: And in after hours, it's up another $ 0.
- 24:28Speaker 5: 94 to $ 193.
- 24:28Speaker 3: 44. All right. Now, just bear with me with your expertise.
- 24:37Speaker 1: So do you think, I'm just asking you, because you're
- 24:41Speaker 1: a smart guy. So do you think it's worth buying
- 24:45Speaker 1: tomorrow on a regular market at $ 195? I don't know.
- 24:50Speaker 3: Don't have a crystal ball, and I'm not a day trader.
- 24:53Speaker 3: I'm an old..
- 24:54Speaker 1: Okay, but I'm not asking about day trading. I'm saying,
- 24:57Speaker 1: do you think if you could buy it for $ 195,
- 25:00Speaker 1: it's worth buying and holding and not trading it off
- 25:05Speaker 1: six months from now or a year from now or
- 25:07Speaker 1: two years from now? I mean, perhaps sitting on it
- 25:09Speaker 1: for years.
- 25:11Speaker 3: Well, here's what I would do. And there are no
- 25:14Speaker 3: analyst price targets out. You know what I do every morning, Ron?
- 25:18Speaker 3: I get up at 8 o'clock and I check the market.
- 25:20Speaker 3: I check the options chains. But the most important thing
- 25:23Speaker 3: I do, I follow probably 30 or 40 brokerage firms,
- 25:29Speaker 3: analysts that give price targets on all the stocks I hold.
- 25:34Speaker 3: It's a company like Oppenheimer, Barclays, Bernstein, Canaccord, Morgan Stanley,
- 25:40Speaker 3: Goldman Sachs, Piper Sandler. I keep a notebook and a
- 25:45Speaker 3: ledger every day, upgrade, downgrades on price targets with the,
- 25:50Speaker 3: you know, I don't, have time and I don't have
- 25:53Speaker 3: the expertise to go through the financials of every market,
- 25:57Speaker 3: but I rely on these analysts that are hired by
- 26:01Speaker 3: these firms.
- 26:02Speaker 2: To do it.
- 26:02Speaker 3: And usually these guys are pretty good. And what I do,
- 26:06Speaker 3: I throw out the top 5% and the bottom 5%.
- 26:09Speaker 3: I take an average of the price target for the stock.
- 26:15Speaker 3: And then I go to the options chains. And I
- 26:17Speaker 3: see what the options guys are saying the price of
- 26:20Speaker 3: the stock is going to be worth in a month,
- 26:24Speaker 3: three months, four months. And that's how I make my determination.
- 26:27Speaker 3: So SpaceX, I don't know. I'm waiting for an analyst
- 26:31Speaker 3: to come out and give its target. But what I'm
- 26:34Speaker 3: really interested in is the options change tomorrow morning. That'll
- 26:39Speaker 3: give you an indication of what they think. But companies
- 26:44Speaker 3: like I.
- 26:45Speaker 1: Mean, I got to tell you this. I mean, just
- 26:47Speaker 1: in a conversation. I'm surprised. I mean, I don't know
- 26:53Speaker 1: even if you– I don't even know if I should
- 26:55Speaker 1: say this, but you've made huge amounts of money in
- 26:57Speaker 1: the stock market. You're just a regular guy, but you
- 27:00Speaker 1: made just a phenomenal amount of money with your brain power.
- 27:06Speaker 1: And so I say to you, I'm surprised. I thought
- 27:11Speaker 1: for certain– you would be trying to buy SpaceX as
- 27:14Speaker 1: soon as you could just to sit on it for
- 27:17Speaker 1: a year or two or whatever.
- 27:20Speaker 3: I'll wait. I keep my powder dry, and I wait
- 27:24Speaker 3: for information and news that gives me an insight. And
- 27:28Speaker 3: like I say, I will buy it on a pullback.
- 27:31Speaker 3: I mean, this morning it opened at 171, but it
- 27:35Speaker 3: pulled back to 168 about an hour later. So you
- 27:40Speaker 3: could have waited for that little pullback. at uh... ten
- 27:43Speaker 3: o'clock or ten fifteen but uh... never never page never
- 27:50Speaker 3: by iran always try to by the discount and always
- 27:54Speaker 3: try to get paid to to buy the stock and
- 27:58Speaker 3: that's what i'm going to do with spacex i have
- 28:00Speaker 3: a lot of tesla so i'm not worried i have
- 28:03Speaker 3: a lot of tesla and i have a tesla options
- 28:06Speaker 3: and i'm very happy with it and uh... Like I say,
- 28:10Speaker 3: I'm happy with what Trump did with the deal, and
- 28:13Speaker 3: it seems to calm the market down. You could see
- 28:15Speaker 3: how it reacted, and I'm pretty optimistic.
- 28:23Speaker 1: On it. So you are not going to buy any tomorrow,
- 28:27Speaker 1: you don't think, or the next day?
- 28:29Speaker 3: No, you know why it's going up so much so fast?
- 28:32Speaker 1: Yeah, demand. Everyone's talking about it, and everyone wants to
- 28:36Speaker 1: buy it.
- 28:37Speaker 3: Well, it's going to be included in the NASDAQ. You
- 28:39Speaker 3: have to wait 15 days for an IPO before it's
- 28:42Speaker 3: included in the NASDAQ 100. So a lot of these
- 28:45Speaker 3: hedge funds and fund managers are buying ahead of that
- 28:49Speaker 3: because they're going to have to own SpaceX because it
- 28:52Speaker 3: will be in the NASDAQ 100. So they're trying to
- 28:56Speaker 3: buy it now before it goes any higher. And then
- 28:59Speaker 3: you have the little guy that has the FOMO. the
- 29:02Speaker 3: fear of missing out, and it's like a gambling addiction
- 29:06Speaker 3: to them. They get caught up in it. Never get
- 29:08Speaker 3: caught up in a stock, you know, with all the hype.
- 29:13Speaker 3: Just wait, and wait for your opportunities to present themselves.
- 29:18Speaker 3: But like I say, that's what I'll do tomorrow. I'll
- 29:20Speaker 3: see what the options change, say, tomorrow morning, and I'll
- 29:26Speaker 3: make my determination then. But it'll pull back. It's not
- 29:30Speaker 3: going to keep, you know... It was priced at $ 135, 000,
- 29:34Speaker 3: and that's for bear and bull. his he bought a
- 29:40Speaker 3: billion dollars at 135 and it raised his total stake
- 29:45Speaker 3: now in spacex is 25 billion.
- 29:48Speaker 1: Who's baron baron trump what's that who's baron baron.
- 29:53Speaker 3: Trump Ron Barron, the head of the Barron Funds, I
- 29:56Speaker 3: was telling you about him. His reasons were, he said,
- 30:00Speaker 3: Musk is 10 to 15 years ahead of everybody as
- 30:04Speaker 3: far as making satellites, building rockets, building networks.
- 30:10Speaker 1: Okay, so this Ron Barron that you follow, he bought, what,
- 30:14Speaker 1: a million dollars worth?
- 30:15Speaker 5: A billion.
- 30:16Speaker 3: A billion. He bought that on the IPO, the day
- 30:20Speaker 3: of the IPO.
- 30:21Speaker 1: How could he be entitled to buy a billion dollars
- 30:24Speaker 1: of stock at the IPO?
- 30:26Speaker 3: Because people that have... Here you go. People that are
- 30:30Speaker 3: employees of SpaceX, they have options on the stock. People
- 30:35Speaker 3: that are large mutual fund companies... They deal through the
- 30:41Speaker 3: brokerage firms. These people, you don't and I don't have
- 30:45Speaker 3: access to buying these stocks at the price that it
- 30:49Speaker 3: comes out. And it was priced at $ 135.
- 30:53Speaker 1: But because of his..
- 30:56Speaker 3: Because of his connections and his... Yeah, he's one of
- 31:01Speaker 3: the guys.
- 31:02Speaker 1: Okay, so did you say he bought a billion dollars worth?
- 31:06Speaker 3: He placed a billion dollar order... And it was filled
- 31:10Speaker 3: at $ 135 on the day of the IPO. But SpaceX
- 31:16Speaker 3: opened at $ 150. It took so long to open because
- 31:19Speaker 3: there was such an imbalance in orders. Originally, Musk was
- 31:25Speaker 3: trying to get it. It was priced lower than $ 135.
- 31:29Speaker 3: But they agreed on that $ 135 price. But then when
- 31:32Speaker 3: it opened, it opened at $ 150. And that's what you
- 31:36Speaker 3: could have paid for, not the $ 135, 000 because you're not
- 31:39Speaker 3: in the club and we're not billionaires.
- 31:43Speaker 1: I'm not. I don't know about you, but you're close. So, Ian,
- 31:49Speaker 1: you didn't buy any at $ 150, 000.
- 31:50Speaker 3: I didn't buy any. No, I have no SpaceX whatsoever. Tomorrow,
- 31:56Speaker 3: I'll be looking at it tomorrow morning on the options chains,
- 31:59Speaker 3: and I'll see if I want to do any options
- 32:01Speaker 3: on it. But what I did today... With the deal
- 32:05Speaker 3: that Trump made, I was writing covered calls on all
- 32:09Speaker 3: of my positions to generate extra dividends or cash on
- 32:14Speaker 3: all of my tech holdings because they popped up so much.
- 32:17Speaker 3: That's when you write covered calls. And I did one-month
- 32:21Speaker 3: contracts on a lot of companies.
- 32:23Speaker 1: What are covered calls?
- 32:25Speaker 3: All right, if you own, say you own Apple at
- 32:29Speaker 3: $ 200 a share, okay? And you want to write a
- 32:34Speaker 3: covered call on it. You can sell a contract for
- 32:38Speaker 3: a month out and make your strike price $ 250. And
- 32:41Speaker 3: for selling that contract, you'll be paid a premium. One
- 32:51Speaker 3: contract is equal to an underlying 100 shares of the company.
- 32:55Speaker 1: Yeah, you're so over my head with that.
- 32:58Speaker 3: The thing is, you'll make a lot of money. You
- 33:01Speaker 3: can make like $ 1, 000, $ 2, 000 selling one contract on these
- 33:06Speaker 3: tech companies. And the more volatile the company is, the
- 33:10Speaker 3: higher the premium. But it's another, I don't want to
- 33:13Speaker 3: get into it.
- 33:14Speaker 1: Right, but the market is way up today. So what
- 33:22Speaker 1: do you think is going to happen to the markets?
- 33:26Speaker 1: Do you ever foresee it like when you should do
- 33:32Speaker 1: wealth preservation, sit on the sidelines in a market like this?
- 33:37Speaker 3: Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. That's what I said. I follow
- 33:40Speaker 3: an expert, Tom Lee, from Fundstrat, and he's been calling
- 33:44Speaker 3: for a– correction this year, but he said not near term.
- 33:49Speaker 3: He says we're okay, and he more or less gave
- 33:52Speaker 3: the same reasons that this baron was talking about this morning.
- 33:56Speaker 3: He said the IPO is over for SpaceX, oil's coming down,
- 34:00Speaker 3: looks like there's going to be a resolution in the
- 34:02Speaker 3: war if the Israelis don't throw a monkey wrench like
- 34:06Speaker 3: they tried to sabotage Trump with attacking Lebanon.
- 34:10Speaker 2: On his birthday.
- 34:11Speaker 1: Yeah, those are all good signs, right?
- 34:14Speaker 2: Yes.
- 34:14Speaker 3: Yes, so Tom Lee, this guy, he's a Chinese analyst
- 34:19Speaker 3: who runs Fundstrat. Guy is super smart. I've been following
- 34:25Speaker 3: him for over 15 years. He's one of the top people.
- 34:29Speaker 3: I mean, he's called everything right. And he sees good
- 34:37Speaker 3: things for the market. We're going to have a little
- 34:39Speaker 3: digestion six months out. And then we're going to have the–
- 34:44Speaker 3: he's calling for the best two years of all times
- 34:48Speaker 3: for the market. And, you know, that made me feel good.
- 34:52Speaker 1: All right, hang on. Don't go anywhere, all right? Just
- 34:55Speaker 1: hang on. I want to pick his brain some more.
- 34:58Speaker 1: Back in just a minute. Stay tuned. Youngstown's News, Weather,
- 35:02Speaker 1: and Talk Station, 570 WKBN. All right. So you'll know
- 35:09Speaker 1: tomorrow if you buy any SpaceX.
- 35:13Speaker 3: If I sell any options on SpaceX, I'll know tomorrow morning.
- 35:18Speaker 1: Okay, now I'm just going to try. Do you anticipate
- 35:22Speaker 1: that you'll buy any SpaceX stock, period?
- 35:25Speaker 3: Oh, yes.
- 35:26Speaker 1: Yes. Okay, that's what I'm asking.
- 35:28Speaker 3: I'll buy SpaceX before it merges, but I won't be paying.
- 35:31Speaker 3: I'll be buying it on a pullback, or I'll be
- 35:34Speaker 3: paid to buy it through an option.
- 35:37Speaker 4: But..
- 35:39Speaker 3: That that's boring stuff but but before i go i'd
- 35:42Speaker 3: just want to say real quick i don't know if
- 35:44Speaker 3: you know who for reads the car is yes i
- 35:46Speaker 3: do okay he was i'd almost fell out of the
- 35:50Speaker 3: chair when i thought he was on cnn and he
- 35:53Speaker 3: was actually knocking california and gavin newsome he said people
- 35:59Speaker 3: can't afford to live in california they have a failed
- 36:03Speaker 3: democratic system he said their education system the homelessness high
- 36:08Speaker 3: taxes And two million people leaving in over seven years.
- 36:13Speaker 3: He just raked the Democrats over the coal. And I
- 36:17Speaker 3: can't believe this guy because he's a left-wing liberal from PBS, CNN,
- 36:22Speaker 3: and all the other shows. But it's just showing you
- 36:25Speaker 3: how bad. This made me optimistic, too, when I saw
- 36:30Speaker 3: this guy who's a Democrat criticizing his party. All right.
- 36:34Speaker 1: Call me tomorrow. All right?
- 36:35Speaker 3: Okay, Ron.
- 36:36Speaker 1: Appreciate it. Back in a minute. From ABC News, I'm.
- 36:45Speaker 7: Lindsay Davis, anchor of Prime Streaming Weeknights on ABC News Live.
- 36:49Speaker 7: World leaders are gathering in the French Alps for the
- 36:51Speaker 7: G7 summit. It's the first time leaders have met since
- 36:54Speaker 7: the start of the U.S.-Iran war. President Trump signaled a
- 36:57Speaker 7: peace agreement between the U.S. and Iran could be finalized
- 36:59Speaker 7: by the end of the week. The president, while meeting
- 37:01Speaker 7: with France's leader, says the deal would extend the ceasefire
- 37:04Speaker 7: for 60 days, reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and talks
- 37:07Speaker 7: will begin on Iran's nuclear program.
- 37:08Speaker 1: The main thing is that Iran will not have a
- 37:10Speaker 1: nuclear weapon. I fully agree to that with strong policing powers.
- 37:15Speaker 7: President Trump also spoke about Ukraine and Russia, saying both
- 37:18Speaker 7: sides appear ready to end hostilities. Russia carried out a
- 37:22Speaker 7: deadly attack in Ukraine's capital. President Zelensky says Russian drones
- 37:26Speaker 7: struck an 11th century Christian Orthodox monastery, which is also
- 37:29Speaker 7: a UNESCO World Heritage Site. ABC's Tom Sufibird says Russia
- 37:33Speaker 7: is claiming without evidence that a U.S.-made Patriot air defense
- 37:36Speaker 7: missile was responsible.
- 37:37Speaker 8: The simple fact is that Russia fired hundreds of drones
- 37:40Speaker 8: at the Ukrainian capital overnight, dozens of missiles. Ukraine certainly
- 37:44Speaker 8: did use Patriot interceptors to shoot.
- 37:46Speaker 1: Down some of those missiles.
- 37:48Speaker 8: But the idea that one of these malfunctioned and hit
- 37:51Speaker 8: the cathedral itself is very hard to believe.
- 37:53Speaker 7: The New York Knicks are still celebrating after beating the
- 37:56Speaker 7: San Antonio Spurs in Game 5, becoming the NBA champs
- 37:59Speaker 7: for the first time in more than 50 years. New
- 38:02Speaker 7: York City's Mayor Zoran Mamdani announced the Knicks will be
- 38:05Speaker 7: honored with a ticker tape parade this Thursday. Mamdani also
- 38:08Speaker 7: addressed pockets of violence and dozens of arrests following the Knicks' win.
- 38:11Speaker 6: There were a select number of New Yorkers who... Celebrated
- 38:16Speaker 6: in a way that was frankly unacceptable. It was not celebration.
- 38:19Speaker 6: It was an excuse, whether it be to attack someone
- 38:23Speaker 6: around them or to be violent, even towards our police officers.
- 38:26Speaker 7: The mayor says the city is taking every precaution to
- 38:29Speaker 7: ensure the parade is safe. Crowds will line the famed
- 38:31Speaker 7: Canyon of Heroes to celebrate the win and their favorite players.
- 38:35Speaker 7: You're listening to ABC News.
