Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: If you normally listen to the podcast, there will be
- 0:02Speaker 1: some visual cocktail making later, so this is a great
- 0:06Speaker 1: one to watch on YouTube. Welcome to Brief Recess. I'm
- 0:16Speaker 1: Michael Foot and I'm Melissa Outbranch. Today we're going to
- 0:19Speaker 1: talk about how FIFA is finally over. We're going to
- 0:22Speaker 1: talk about the recent wave of ice shootings in America
- 0:25Speaker 1: and everything that's happening with DHS. I'll give you the
- 0:27Speaker 1: full rundown. But then we are going to have like
- 0:30Speaker 1: a total different tone shift and have a little summer break.
- 0:34Speaker 1: We're going to make drinks with my good friend Ben
- 0:37Speaker 1: Hopkins Prager, and we're going to make summer cocktails and
- 0:39Speaker 1: we're just going to have fun and play a game
- 0:42Speaker 1: that is may or may not be based on the
- 0:44Speaker 1: life and death of Lindsay Graham. So stick around my
- 0:49Speaker 1: friend in college. Oh my god, that is that is
- 0:55Speaker 1: that should be criminal? Is it not? I mean I
- 0:57Speaker 1: think it is. I think it's like drugging someone if
- 0:59Speaker 1: you dip some cigarette and cocaine. She was tripping. That's
- 1:02Speaker 1: really really bad. It's crazy.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Michael and I were just talking. So I've said this
- 1:08Speaker 2: many times before. I've had bary surgery, and I am still.
- 1:12Speaker 1: Like a long time ago, not recently. Yeah, it doesn't matter,
- 1:15Speaker 1: like twelve I think it's like twelve years ago. I'm
- 1:17Speaker 1: just saying. So, I was just imagining people sending you
- 1:20Speaker 1: flowers like feel better.
- 1:25Speaker 2: So I was a part of a bariatric support group
- 1:29Speaker 2: and I still get messages for meetings and things like that.
- 1:33Speaker 2: I was never comfortable doing eating things in a group
- 1:39Speaker 2: like that. There was like outings, right, and I understand
- 1:42Speaker 2: it's sort of a way to get to know people,
- 1:44Speaker 2: which is great, but I always felt like that stuff
- 1:49Speaker 2: would trigger my eating right. So I'm sure other people
- 1:52Speaker 2: can do it and it's fine, but for me, I've
- 1:54Speaker 2: always been really anxious about anything that is sort of
- 1:58Speaker 2: like like.
- 1:59Speaker 1: A buffet style of thing for me. And so especially
- 2:04Speaker 1: because like a lot of people who get buried, well,
- 2:06Speaker 1: people get bariatric surgery for many different reasons. Some of
- 2:09Speaker 1: it is like addictive behavior.
- 2:11Speaker 2: For me, it was it was that and sort of
- 2:13Speaker 2: just being overweight, so not just overweight, like really obese.
- 2:16Speaker 2: So yeah, it just always makes me feel a little
- 2:20Speaker 2: bit like I don't want to.
- 2:21Speaker 1: Yeah, it reminds me of my friends who are alcoholics.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Some of them will like come to the club all
- 2:25Speaker 1: night and not and not ever have a drink. No, yeah, no,
- 2:30Speaker 1: or some people are like no, like I can't even
- 2:33Speaker 1: be around it, be around it, you know what I mean.
- 2:35Speaker 1: And it's just sort of like different recoveries for.
- 2:38Speaker 2: I was going to say, like, you know, someone's addiction
- 2:41Speaker 2: and their recovery is theirs, right, and so there's no
- 2:45Speaker 2: one way for everybody. But every time I get an
- 2:48Speaker 2: invitation to something like that, especially if it's like a
- 2:52Speaker 2: buffet situation, if I can go somewhere and order my
- 2:56Speaker 2: meal myself, I'm fine, but like that volume of food
- 3:00Speaker 2: makes me uncomfortable.
- 3:02Speaker 1: I was listening to something. The buffets in Vegas are
- 3:04Speaker 1: disappearing this weekend. They were talking. There was an NPR
- 3:08Speaker 1: show I was driving this weekend. Was wild by the
- 3:10Speaker 1: way I heard. World Cup. Yeah, is it fucking over yet?
- 3:14Speaker 1: It is over? I am so sick of hearing FIFA, this, FIFA,
- 3:20Speaker 1: that World Cup. I am so over it. I've had
- 3:24Speaker 1: it up to here. I don't want to see Melissa
- 3:31Speaker 1: so mad. I don't care. I'm not making come for me. Oh,
- 3:34Speaker 1: first of all, you don't have to tell me that
- 3:36Speaker 1: I can come for you at home I'm speaking so
- 3:40Speaker 1: sick of World Cup.
- 3:42Speaker 2: But okay, do you feel the same way about the Olympics,
- 3:46Speaker 2: Like towards the end of the Olympics, you feel like
- 3:47Speaker 2: this, this feels like.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Being in New York. We're not having an Olympics times
- 3:51Speaker 1: square like this is like in the middle of New York.
- 3:55Speaker 1: Was the World Cup? Like there was? It was like
- 3:57Speaker 1: all over New York. No, it wasn't. It wasn't. I
- 4:02Speaker 1: thought it was trying. Where was it? CJ, where was it?
- 4:05Speaker 1: It was all over right, there was a traveling different countries. Yes,
- 4:09Speaker 1: it was in three different countries.
- 4:10Speaker 2: The idea was it was in North America, New Jersey
- 4:16Speaker 2: the whole time. So some of it was in New Jersey.
- 4:19Speaker 2: Sometimes a few a few matches.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Were I'm in traffic to New York me okay, in Canada. Oh, Boston,
- 4:27Speaker 1: I didn't know about I did. Okay, that's true, that's right.
- 4:31Speaker 1: But the Scotts drink all the beer, that's right. That
- 4:35Speaker 1: makes a lot more sense. Now. I was like, why
- 4:37Speaker 1: are all these Scottish people in Boston? Okay, you know what,
- 4:41Speaker 1: I will stand corrected, But Boston, I still got beef
- 4:44Speaker 1: with you. Okay, we're going to have to really address that. Please. Okay,
- 4:48Speaker 1: I don't know if today's that day. This is the
- 4:50Speaker 1: testimony of Michael. Okay, Michael Boston, and I.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Think people, well, maybe this is not the day. But
- 4:57Speaker 2: we're listen, friends, I promise we're going to get into
- 5:02Speaker 2: it because I know that what the people want and
- 5:04Speaker 2: we are here to serve at the pleasure of the people.
- 5:07Speaker 1: All right, let's get into a sidebar because we have
- 5:09Speaker 1: to get into it. We did because this weekend was crazy, yes,
- 5:12Speaker 1: because of the World Cup, but also a lot was
- 5:14Speaker 1: happening in ice headlines and immigration in America. There are
- 5:17Speaker 1: protests in America. There was someone lit a fire outside
- 5:20Speaker 1: the courthouse that I go to this morning, so like
- 5:22Speaker 1: that was a little chaotic. There's just a lot going on.
- 5:25Speaker 1: A couple people have been killed by ICE officers in
- 5:29Speaker 1: America lately. Federal agents around the country were told in
- 5:33Speaker 1: recent days that the FBI would no longer investigate confrontations
- 5:35Speaker 1: with immigrant agents, cases that sometimes yield evidence that could
- 5:40Speaker 1: be used to prosecute DHS agents for the things they're
- 5:44Speaker 1: implicated in, according to people who were briefed. So that
- 5:48Speaker 1: was in the Times this morning that basically the FBI
- 5:52Speaker 1: told Ice, don't worry, We're not investigating your officers. Is
- 5:56Speaker 1: that what they said? Effectively? Per the New York Times,
- 5:58Speaker 1: that was like the scent men, And that was according
- 6:02Speaker 1: to people briefed on the decision. That's actually really I'm
- 6:06Speaker 1: making sure I'm reading it right, because that is a
- 6:08Speaker 1: wild thing to say, and I don't want to be
- 6:10Speaker 1: wrong about it. But people agents around the country were
- 6:14Speaker 1: told in recent days that the FBI would no longer
- 6:17Speaker 1: investigate confrontations with immigration agents. I mean, we've talked about
- 6:22Speaker 1: this lots.
- 6:23Speaker 2: All of this is so distressing, and every time you
- 6:27Speaker 2: think that it can't get worse, it does. So it
- 6:31Speaker 2: just feels like, so now we cannot count on the
- 6:35Speaker 2: FBI to just sort of like and I understand that
- 6:41Speaker 2: probably we should never have trusted the FBI, but it's
- 6:44Speaker 2: never been so blatant, do you know what I mean
- 6:46Speaker 2: for them to just sort of say, basically, we're in
- 6:49Speaker 2: the back pocket of the president, right. The FBI is
- 6:52Speaker 2: supposed to serve the country, right, not just one administration.
- 6:57Speaker 1: And I'll say that just because the FBA isn't investigating
- 7:01Speaker 1: these officers, like obviously condemning that message being given to
- 7:05Speaker 1: ICE agents. I mean, the FBI is supposed to be
- 7:09Speaker 1: checks and balances across the nation. It's not just serving
- 7:13Speaker 1: at the president's leisure. And just because the FBI is
- 7:18Speaker 1: not investigating an ICE agent for their behavior doesn't mean
- 7:22Speaker 1: a state won't. Right, they're separate agencies for a reason.
- 7:27Speaker 1: The states are separate from the federal government for a reason.
- 7:29Speaker 1: So there we're basically looking to the states to save
- 7:34Speaker 1: us from the federal government and the behavior of the
- 7:36Speaker 1: FBI and the and DHS, Right, I mean, that's sort
- 7:41Speaker 1: of a position that we didn't put it.
- 7:42Speaker 2: I mean, that's what it sounds like. I'm just sort
- 7:45Speaker 2: of thinking about, is how do we come back from this?
- 7:48Speaker 2: You know, what is going to happen?
- 7:50Speaker 1: And so, because I know you had said before.
- 7:55Speaker 2: Like other episodes, whenever you and I have talked about it,
- 7:57Speaker 2: that if we are patient, right, eventually this administration will
- 8:01Speaker 2: no longer be in place and those people will get prosecuted.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Will they still do you know what I mean? Yeah,
- 8:10Speaker 1: if they're not pardoned by Trump, even if Trump tries
- 8:13Speaker 1: to pardon many of those ICE officers, there's a strong
- 8:16Speaker 1: possibility they can still get prosecuted in the state. Even
- 8:19Speaker 1: if Trump tries to pardon them, What basically happens is
- 8:23Speaker 1: state prosecutors would have to bring an argument. There would
- 8:26Speaker 1: be like a peremptory challenge in court before that pardoning.
- 8:30Speaker 1: So I doubt there's any ICE agents that listen to
- 8:33Speaker 1: my podcast, but I will say if you are listening,
- 8:36Speaker 1: or if you know any of them and you want
- 8:38Speaker 1: to pass along that message, like the likelihood of you
- 8:41Speaker 1: getting pardoned for your behavior on the job by this
- 8:44Speaker 1: president is it has literally never happened in the history
- 8:48Speaker 1: of the world ever. He has never pardoned an ICE agent.
- 8:51Speaker 1: But and if he wanted to, yeah, it's not just
- 8:55Speaker 1: a blank check he would write, and then you're scott free.
- 9:01Speaker 1: It does not work like that. He could attempt to
- 9:03Speaker 1: do that, and then the states could bring charges and
- 9:07Speaker 1: then it would get battled out in court and it
- 9:09Speaker 1: would take a long time, and it would be expensive,
- 9:11Speaker 1: and it would still probably ruin your life. You would
- 9:16Speaker 1: there's still so much that would happen. You would be
- 9:18Speaker 1: in court for so long and possibly brought up on
- 9:21Speaker 1: criminal charges. Like this is basically what I'm trying to
- 9:25Speaker 1: say is it is like a yes, you could technically
- 9:29Speaker 1: get pardoned, but there are a lot of technicalities that
- 9:33Speaker 1: would go into that that equation, and it wouldn't necessarily
- 9:40Speaker 1: come out with you on top, is how I want
- 9:42Speaker 1: to sort of phrase that.
- 9:43Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, but.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Yeah, there were a couple of people were killed. Someone
- 9:46Speaker 1: was killed in me and someone was killed in Texas.
- 9:48Speaker 1: A couple of weeks ago. There were Chicago, there were
- 9:53Speaker 1: protests outside of Susan Collins's office. She voted to fund
- 9:56Speaker 1: ice the day before the in her own state. She's
- 10:01Speaker 1: up for reelection this fall. Every week we come in
- 10:04Speaker 1: here and we say we're at an inflection point. I
- 10:07Speaker 1: don't know how many more inflection points I have in me.
- 10:09Speaker 1: It's like, remember during COVID, when people could go on
- 10:12Speaker 1: saying during these unprecedented times, you know what I'm saying,
- 10:16Speaker 1: and to the point where it was at nauseam right,
- 10:18Speaker 1: like you heard it constantly, And that's what we're at. An
- 10:21Speaker 1: inflection point. Well, when we're in an inflection point the
- 10:23Speaker 1: day before yesterday, like, it's always something Alexa, what's another
- 10:26Speaker 1: word for an unprecedented inflection? Yeah, it's also one of
- 10:32Speaker 1: these things where I feel like, because we're always at
- 10:35Speaker 1: an inflection point, our power in our choices as civilians
- 10:39Speaker 1: in America. It feels like it's getting stronger and stronger.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Every repost, every boycott, every protest, every conversation, every choice
- 10:49Speaker 1: we make informs whether or not ICE gets funding, whether
- 10:54Speaker 1: or not that person up for election, right like, because
- 10:57Speaker 1: we have the midterms right around the corner. Yeah, and
- 11:00Speaker 1: because everyone is so focused on those elections and every
- 11:05Speaker 1: little thing that's happening in America right now around immigrants,
- 11:08Speaker 1: but also you know the reflecting pool also, like every
- 11:11Speaker 1: little thing that Trump does, pool or the reflection pool.
- 11:14Speaker 1: We're going to talk about that necessarily, But because everyone's
- 11:18Speaker 1: so keyed in on what's happening, it feels like ten
- 11:22Speaker 1: years ago people wouldn't have been like, oh, at and
- 11:24Speaker 1: T is a contractor for ICE, what's Ice? What's DHS?
- 11:28Speaker 1: Like you know what I mean? Yes, there is this
- 11:30Speaker 1: like level of consciousness. We're much more.
- 11:32Speaker 2: Informed about different aspects of how the government operates, especially
- 11:37Speaker 2: because of the way this particular.
- 11:39Speaker 1: President is weaponizing. Yes that yeah, yeah, so you know,
- 11:43Speaker 1: I've got nineteen year old cousins who are aware that
- 11:48Speaker 1: Jeff Bezos and the Mechcala and the people who attended
- 11:52Speaker 1: the Mechala, they don't like anymore because they went when
- 11:55Speaker 1: Jeff Bezos who And I was like, this is the
- 11:58Speaker 1: kind of incredible that you are so aware of what's happening.
- 12:03Speaker 1: I was aware of one hundred one hundreds versus regular
- 12:08Speaker 1: menthol cigarettes when I was nineteen, Okay, and you are
- 12:12Speaker 1: so just hang on though about that.
- 12:13Speaker 2: So I could say the same thing, right, So, but
- 12:18Speaker 2: we did not have access to the information that these
- 12:22Speaker 2: kids have access.
- 12:23Speaker 1: That's true, right, We did not have a lot of information, and.
- 12:25Speaker 2: There is so much information being shoved down our throats, right,
- 12:30Speaker 2: we have to be discerning and be careful about what
- 12:34Speaker 2: information that we're taking in.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Right.
- 12:36Speaker 2: So, while I think it's great that a nineteen year
- 12:39Speaker 2: old could have the wherewithal to say, you know what,
- 12:44Speaker 2: I am now going not to support this artist that
- 12:48Speaker 2: I really liked. I'm not going to go to their
- 12:49Speaker 2: concerts anymore. Because they did this thing is great, I
- 12:53Speaker 2: think my fear is where they getting this information from.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Is it coming from like TikTok or is it coming
- 13:01Speaker 2: from a an unbiased news source, right, which is really
- 13:06Speaker 2: hard to find.
- 13:07Speaker 1: I am So it's good and I think it's great.
- 13:10Speaker 1: It definitely works it all. Yeah, yeah, it comes with
- 13:12Speaker 1: it comes with it's with its downside. I read something
- 13:16Speaker 1: thirty percent of gen z against their information from new media,
- 13:19Speaker 1: like talking people on TikTok like me. I mean, I'm
- 13:22Speaker 1: one of them, and that's where they get their news from,
- 13:25Speaker 1: which is good and bad, good and bad I am.
- 13:30Speaker 2: The thing is is that where can you go to
- 13:34Speaker 2: get unbiased information?
- 13:36Speaker 1: Right? Like I have found for me.
- 13:40Speaker 2: That if I go to news sources outside of the United.
- 13:44Speaker 1: States, that's definitely true.
- 13:47Speaker 2: That's a better way because there are things I have
- 13:51Speaker 2: had friends or family who were like in Canada, for example,
- 13:54Speaker 2: who were like, oh, YadA, YadA, YadA, and I'm just like, oh, yeah,
- 13:57Speaker 2: I didn't even know about.
- 13:58Speaker 1: That thing you were telling me about the guy in
- 14:00Speaker 1: Russia who had no idea there was a warrant. That's right,
- 14:03Speaker 1: that's right, that's right, yes, the censorship. I was thinking
- 14:06Speaker 1: about that with how all so many of the media
- 14:09Speaker 1: companies in America are now owned by the same corporation.
- 14:13Speaker 1: And that's the thing, right, ten years ago, it wasn't
- 14:16Speaker 1: that way. The local the local station, the local newspaper,
- 14:20Speaker 1: and that's where you would get your local news, right,
- 14:22Speaker 1: And now it's all owned by a couple giant conglomerates,
- 14:27Speaker 1: and when that happens, can you really count on that news.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Being the actual, unfiltered, the actual truth of it all.
- 14:36Speaker 1: You can't. Yeah, Like I was thinking about traffic stops
- 14:40Speaker 1: when I was coming up, it was like we didn't
- 14:44Speaker 1: know our rights at the traffic side. Like when I
- 14:46Speaker 1: was being you know, you're getting your license, they're not like,
- 14:48Speaker 1: this is what happens if you get pulled over. But
- 14:50Speaker 1: now so many people are aware of what to do
- 14:54Speaker 1: if they get pulled over, what their rates are, people
- 14:56Speaker 1: are recording. We're suddenly singing this level of accountability with
- 15:00Speaker 1: police officers. Ice officers this week were ordered to stop
- 15:06Speaker 1: questioning people's immigration and pulling people over because ICE officers
- 15:10Speaker 1: have been doing this, but they've been ordered as of
- 15:14Speaker 1: this week to stop doing that because people were killed.
- 15:18Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I don't want to know. I don't want
- 15:21Speaker 1: to cover anything. I'm not anything like they were shot
- 15:25Speaker 1: by ICE officers one hundred percent. The thing about it
- 15:27Speaker 1: is is that again I feel like.
- 15:30Speaker 2: With this administration is especially and I kind of don't
- 15:34Speaker 2: mean to pick on them, but I do everything that
- 15:38Speaker 2: they do seems to be they're sort of always seem
- 15:41Speaker 2: to be flying by the seat of their pants, right,
- 15:43Speaker 2: so they will give a directive, realize that it doesn't work,
- 15:48Speaker 2: and then dalt it back. It's like do you remember
- 15:50Speaker 2: when we had seth on talking about Action Park. Yes,
- 15:54Speaker 2: how they would just, Oh, you know what, I'm going
- 15:56Speaker 2: to dream something up.
- 15:57Speaker 1: I'm going to try.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Something on the back of a nap again and like
- 16:01Speaker 2: put it in. Oh, somebody broke their neck. Maybe we
- 16:04Speaker 2: shouldn't do that anymore. Do you know what I'm saying?
- 16:07Speaker 2: What is happening and it should be concerning for everybody.
- 16:12Speaker 1: It's not. This is not like, no, it should well,
- 16:16Speaker 1: it shouldn't be right, it shouldn't be Sorry, did you
- 16:21Speaker 1: hear that? Sorry? Obviously keep it well, now we're lucky lose.
- 16:28Speaker 1: I know what, someone just go flying down this.
- 16:34Speaker 2: Oh the door, Okay, that door is crazy anyway, the
- 16:39Speaker 2: door room, guys?
- 16:41Speaker 1: Is it? Literally? It strikes you into work because sometimes
- 16:44Speaker 1: we're talking about really scary ship and then a bang goes.
- 16:47Speaker 4: Well.
- 16:48Speaker 2: The thing about it is that it's not consistent. Sometimes
- 16:51Speaker 2: it's a soft clothes and other time you could take
- 16:53Speaker 2: your head off.
- 16:54Speaker 1: Yes, it depends. Maybe it's upset with us too. I
- 16:59Speaker 1: don't know. I don't know, but it's a paid crisis actor.
- 17:04Speaker 1: It's Antifa. It's Antifa guys. Yeah. So it was a
- 17:11Speaker 1: crazy weekend because I didn't because I had to work
- 17:15Speaker 1: the whole time, and I have off. I took a
- 17:18Speaker 1: couple of days off. I figured it would be fun
- 17:21Speaker 1: if we turned the party a little bit. On brief
- 17:22Speaker 1: re sete, we played some games. Okay, So invited my
- 17:26Speaker 1: friend Ben, who is maybe the most demented person I know.
- 17:30Speaker 1: And I would say that to his face. It might
- 17:32Speaker 1: be on his business card, but he is a bartender.
- 17:35Speaker 1: He's the Internet's favorite bartender. Okay. I brought him here
- 17:38Speaker 1: to bring some drinks. We're gonna play some games. We're
- 17:41Speaker 1: gonna have like fun, footloose, fancy free summer cocktails with Ben.
- 17:46Speaker 1: But it'll still be political. I think we're still going
- 17:49Speaker 1: to be I told him the cocktails politically themed. I'm
- 17:53Speaker 1: honestly a little bit worried. I've actually kind of stared
- 17:56Speaker 1: what he brought.
- 17:57Speaker 2: I am too a little bit. I got a peek
- 17:59Speaker 2: at something and I was looking at it. He was like,
- 18:01Speaker 2: you don't need to look at that.
- 18:02Speaker 1: It's like the Lindsay Graham's corpse. Like what is a
- 18:05Speaker 1: corpse survivor, Linda Gram's corpse survivor. Wait, Linsa Gram is dead.
- 18:09Speaker 1: We didn't not cover this on the pod. We can
- 18:11Speaker 1: talk about it with Ben. We can. We'll be right
- 18:12Speaker 1: back with the poppers that killed Lindsay Graham. Ben is
- 18:19Speaker 1: a non binary bartender and drinks writer living in Brooklyn.
- 18:22Speaker 1: They learned their craft from Momofuku Sombar. Why did you
- 18:26Speaker 1: give me this tongue twister? Okay, you know how to read?
- 18:29Speaker 1: Please don't tell he's the beverage director for all of
- 18:34Speaker 1: Juice Hospitality. Uh. Your work is featured in New York Times,
- 18:38Speaker 1: The New Yorker, Bonappetite, Bloomberg Food, and Win Magazine, Eater.
- 18:41Speaker 1: This bio is too long for me to finish. Please
- 18:43Speaker 1: welcome Ben. Yay for you. Well, you know you have
- 18:51Speaker 1: to sort of you have to be sort of the
- 18:53Speaker 1: vacuous void that you want to see in the world.
- 18:55Speaker 1: And people like that and knocked over on the train
- 18:58Speaker 1: all the time. All right, So he got shoved. I
- 19:02Speaker 1: didn't get shoved.
- 19:03Speaker 5: I got sort of like aggressively bloused by by a
- 19:06Speaker 5: guy who had like you know, okay, like you ever
- 19:09Speaker 5: been to like a like a like a barbecue and
- 19:11Speaker 5: they have like two speakers on poles.
- 19:13Speaker 1: Like it's like, no happy.
- 19:15Speaker 5: Birthday grandma kind of yea. So he had one of
- 19:18Speaker 5: those period or like a bad y man whatever like. So,
- 19:21Speaker 5: so there was a guy carrying a speaker and I
- 19:23Speaker 5: was carrying my ice from the bar that I work at,
- 19:26Speaker 5: and like, all my crap, that's over here, and he
- 19:29Speaker 5: like pivoted and like didn't like keep it on his
- 19:31Speaker 5: on his shoulder. You kind of were like yeah, And
- 19:33Speaker 5: I was like and I like ducked under it and
- 19:37Speaker 5: fell on the ground and he was like watch it.
- 19:40Speaker 1: Wow.
- 19:40Speaker 5: And I broke my lime juice. So I had to
- 19:43Speaker 5: go get some at a very nice Delian. Shout out
- 19:46Speaker 5: to the people down the road who gave me two ounces.
- 19:48Speaker 1: Of They weren't exactly happy to give it to.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Me, but they did give me to they.
- 19:53Speaker 1: I purchased it for a dollar and forty seven. We're
- 19:55Speaker 1: going to reimburse. We're going to submit that. I'm gonna
- 19:57Speaker 1: call Heart Radio about that. Get that, my heart boy.
- 20:02Speaker 3: It's a Polish.
- 20:04Speaker 1: We bring Ben on to play some games and we're
- 20:06Speaker 1: going to do summer cocktails. So thank you for bringing.
- 20:10Speaker 5: I'm so excited Okay, I'm going to start by making
- 20:13Speaker 5: yours first, because it's a matter of scooping and doing things.
- 20:16Speaker 5: So this isn't a growany that I have been making U.
- 20:19Speaker 5: These are both drinks that honestly I've been making for
- 20:21Speaker 5: myself and my apartment lately and kind of have brought
- 20:25Speaker 5: to the bar. I'm currently working at Millie's in Bedstide,
- 20:27Speaker 5: which is a fantastic neighborhood.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Bar, and I went there a couple of weeks ago. Yeah,
- 20:31Speaker 1: and you wanted straight vodka. I don't know how I
- 20:33Speaker 1: got home. I don't know how you get everywhere you
- 20:35Speaker 1: don't have a phone case. Honestly, I think Brad got
- 20:38Speaker 1: me home.
- 20:38Speaker 3: Well, shout out to Brad, thank you for the sociopath.
- 20:41Speaker 1: So what is that?
- 20:42Speaker 5: So this is going to be a little bit of
- 20:44Speaker 5: gin that's distilled with both watermelon, ryans and cucumbers, so
- 20:48Speaker 5: it's nice and round, and it's a super minimal juniper
- 20:52Speaker 5: component in it, so like it's definitely still gin because
- 20:54Speaker 5: it has to have juniper to begin, but it really
- 20:56Speaker 5: has like a nice like sort of more vegetable vegetable backbone.
- 20:59Speaker 1: So at home, a couple ounces of gym so.
- 21:02Speaker 5: Weeah one and a half ounces of gym and I'm
- 21:03Speaker 5: gonna try to get some ice out of this horrible flagger.
- 21:07Speaker 1: I'm trying.
- 21:08Speaker 5: Yeah, I brought it the far because I have a
- 21:10Speaker 5: very very specific kind of autism that requires this kind
- 21:13Speaker 5: of comfort. And then it's going to be half an
- 21:16Speaker 5: ounce of a bitter bianco, which is going to be
- 21:19Speaker 5: like a white bidder, and then one ounce of blanc formooth,
- 21:24Speaker 5: so bitter bianco.
- 21:25Speaker 1: My opinion on white Negronie's is that you know, there's
- 21:28Speaker 1: a product called sus if you guys have ever had
- 21:29Speaker 1: it before, it's a ginge in the core. It's kind
- 21:31Speaker 1: of like, uh, hangover PP yellow and it's fad stuff,
- 21:36Speaker 1: but it's too intense to make it in ne Groni.
- 21:38Speaker 1: And also a white Negronie should probably be clear in
- 21:41Speaker 1: my mind, so you know, it's that, and then I'm
- 21:44Speaker 1: not done. It's hungover PP yellow. Not a person to
- 21:47Speaker 1: watch stir a drink on the show. Anyway. After that,
- 21:55Speaker 1: I came on and just said on camera, let me finish.
- 22:04Speaker 5: So then okay, and now what here's an important tip
- 22:07Speaker 5: at home, Like if you're a lot of things in bartending,
- 22:10Speaker 5: you're like, oh, I want to make this flavor that flavor.
- 22:12Speaker 5: You don't have to shake or stir everything, like I
- 22:14Speaker 5: think is important to note a lot of Okay, for example,
- 22:17Speaker 5: like watermelon, Like.
- 22:19Speaker 1: How do you do something that's sort of gentle, like.
- 22:21Speaker 5: Coconut water, even some vinegars and stuff like that, things
- 22:24Speaker 5: really de nature, like what you think about it, Like
- 22:26Speaker 5: you're when you're like adding air to it or whatever.
- 22:29Speaker 5: A lot of the drinks I make, like this has
- 22:30Speaker 5: half an ounce of coconut water in it.
- 22:32Speaker 3: We're just gonna.
- 22:33Speaker 1: Measure it after we stir.
- 22:35Speaker 5: Down properly like you do for a regular negrony, and
- 22:37Speaker 5: then all you have to do is just take a
- 22:39Speaker 5: spoon and very gently like lift the cubes up, and
- 22:42Speaker 5: then that displaces it and incorporates everything.
- 22:44Speaker 1: Oh that's cool. I noticed at the bar you weren't
- 22:47Speaker 1: You weren't shaking a lot.
- 22:48Speaker 5: I mean, I do you stay strike things with citrus?
- 22:50Speaker 5: But like I really like I think that bartending, like
- 22:54Speaker 5: all things, in the end, is a craft about doing
- 22:56Speaker 5: the least work possible to make it taste the best possible,
- 22:59Speaker 5: and like you know, at the end of the day,
- 23:02Speaker 5: like this is just going to break into pieces if
- 23:03Speaker 5: I start really big lime twist.
- 23:06Speaker 3: Uh, and we're gonna twist it in. Put it on
- 23:08Speaker 3: the side. Michael, this is for you.
- 23:10Speaker 1: That's a big line twist. Well, I'm calling this the.
- 23:12Speaker 3: Big Sissy White mcgroney.
- 23:14Speaker 1: And if you want to get the recipe for it,
- 23:16Speaker 1: these fine people back here justice can you there you go?
- 23:21Speaker 1: She is come up show absolutely roast me because I
- 23:24Speaker 1: want to taste it after. I mean, you know, in
- 23:26Speaker 1: between powdering way we should cheers, cheers, doors now too.
- 23:31Speaker 1: We're going to make all the drinks. And everyone's clapped
- 23:34Speaker 1: for the Big Sissy White McGraney.
- 23:36Speaker 3: Thank you, thank you.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Finally some attention around here. What is this a public library? Okay,
- 23:42Speaker 1: not for you. So I have brought a little bit
- 23:45Speaker 1: of Claren to the station. You know, obviously on your background,
- 23:49Speaker 1: Claire is one of paying attention. Claire is one of
- 23:51Speaker 1: the most incredible spirits in the book, especially for you know,
- 23:55Speaker 1: bartenders love dacries. I love dacries. Dakries are oftentimes have
- 23:59Speaker 1: like if you and of like a lion clik making
- 24:01Speaker 1: a like an egg like you know, like it's a
- 24:03Speaker 1: testive skill and technique. And this is a dacor that
- 24:06Speaker 1: I've been making for myself at home very often, and
- 24:09Speaker 1: Clarence a Haitian Laren is yeah, it means clear, yeah, clear, clear,
- 24:14Speaker 1: And this is forget. My pronunciation is age, which is
- 24:17Speaker 1: without angels. Uh. So ostensibly this is a Claren that
- 24:21Speaker 1: is unaged, doesn't have an angel share, which is what
- 24:24Speaker 1: in making whiskey is the like the amount that is
- 24:28Speaker 1: lost in the aging process, so that it's just straight
- 24:30Speaker 1: up Claren.
- 24:32Speaker 5: Like cashassa or for all the bartenders out there and
- 24:35Speaker 5: making this in a weird order, and it's for camera
- 24:37Speaker 5: and you better relax hold on for you.
- 24:40Speaker 1: They will. They come for us for things we don't
- 24:43Speaker 1: even think, Like why does that queen not have any
- 24:45Speaker 1: what is wrong with that? I'm going to get a
- 24:47Speaker 1: phone case just because people keep talking. It's like it's
- 24:53Speaker 1: like you don't know what it's raining outside. Yeah, but anyway,
- 24:57Speaker 1: Clarence made of sugarcane juice, so you know, you get
- 24:59Speaker 1: all that in interesting sort of vegetable note to it,
- 25:02Speaker 1: like you get sort of an interesting almost yogurty smell.
- 25:04Speaker 1: And what I really think about in a great Claaren
- 25:06Speaker 1: is like intense weed, wild yeast, like Nick never really
- 25:10Speaker 1: know how it's gonna interact. There's gonna be a lot
- 25:12Speaker 1: of interesting vegetable aroma. So that's what I really want
- 25:14Speaker 1: to play with here. So we're gonna do one ounce
- 25:15Speaker 1: of lime juice. Shout out to the homies at the
- 25:17Speaker 1: bodega who gave me this. I love them. I'm building
- 25:21Speaker 1: this backwards again and they're gonna just really simple three
- 25:23Speaker 1: quarters of downs of simple syrup. And then this is
- 25:25Speaker 1: where things get, you know, sort of off classic. This
- 25:28Speaker 1: is Pischad's Bidders. Bitterers is typical and something like a sassaraq.
- 25:32Speaker 1: It's made in New Orleans. It is an Anisset bitter
- 25:36Speaker 1: but again it's sort of another blend of urban and spices,
- 25:38Speaker 1: but a Niece's big flavor.
- 25:39Speaker 3: And we're gonna do like seven or eight.
- 25:42Speaker 5: Dashes because with Claren like what you know, I was
- 25:46Speaker 5: talking to one of the nice producers in this iHeartRadio
- 25:50Speaker 5: fun Box earlier.
- 25:52Speaker 6: Human man with a beard and you know, yeah, they're
- 25:56Speaker 6: everywhere around here, and so what I was saying to
- 25:59Speaker 6: him is that like bar tending is more of an
- 26:01Speaker 6: active styling than it is like cooking.
- 26:04Speaker 1: I really feel like, you know, it's so hard to
- 26:05Speaker 1: make these products like rum, like whiskey. Agin Like, I'm
- 26:08Speaker 1: not someone who professes to be a cook. It's just
- 26:11Speaker 1: about putting flavors together from all of the hard work.
- 26:13Speaker 3: The producers are you made?
- 26:15Speaker 5: So you know, adding another vegetable flavor to Claren through
- 26:20Speaker 5: bitters is just a way to reveal the flavors in
- 26:23Speaker 5: the Claren itself.
- 26:25Speaker 3: So you know, here we go, all right, put it
- 26:27Speaker 3: in here, We're gonna shake it.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Everyone can clap for me while I'm shaking. Oh, that's
- 26:31Speaker 1: feel I've never done this sitting down too much fat,
- 26:35Speaker 1: it's too much flat. I like the fee desperate.
- 26:38Speaker 3: All right, it felt nice.
- 26:42Speaker 1: What do you think I was gonna use? This is
- 26:45Speaker 1: your show? This smack it open? Dar Okay, this glass
- 26:50Speaker 1: has been chilling. I brought this from home because it
- 26:52Speaker 1: seemed like you would if I've been listening properly enough
- 26:55Speaker 1: to the pod.
- 26:56Speaker 3: You deserve this glass.
- 26:59Speaker 1: Here we go. Oh and it's a pretty color, but
- 27:03Speaker 1: it's not really like a pink flavor. It's just like
- 27:05Speaker 1: it's really just that anisset quality to it. Well, what
- 27:08Speaker 1: is a pink flavor? I'm going to let Michael answer
- 27:11Speaker 1: that question.
- 27:12Speaker 5: Here we go, Well, here we go, all right, and
- 27:15Speaker 5: there you go are.
- 27:18Speaker 3: I'm gonna make my drink from us.
- 27:19Speaker 1: Okay, very important bartenders would say that you put the
- 27:22Speaker 1: bidders in first, but for the dramatic reveal of the
- 27:25Speaker 1: cocktail and this thing, I want to see it last.
- 27:29Speaker 1: But yeah, you really buck tradition. Well, Buck tradition is
- 27:32Speaker 1: going to be performing at pieces like the tradition actually delivered,
- 27:41Speaker 1: delivered at the end. Yeah, everyone's like, oh, I'm exhausted.
- 27:47Speaker 1: The copier, get fixed, the copy get fixed.
- 27:57Speaker 5: I'm gonna take a showers, like, hey, the toilets.
- 28:00Speaker 1: That's all said. It's great. Speaking of speaking of things
- 28:04Speaker 1: not going to plan, I've made a drink for myself
- 28:07Speaker 1: thinking of the passing of one, uh you know pieces,
- 28:10Speaker 1: Lindsey Graham. Uh, she's gone, but she's sort of not forgotten. Comment.
- 28:17Speaker 5: I you know, Lindsay, as we've seen on some of
- 28:19Speaker 5: her media appearances, maybe had been in a.
- 28:22Speaker 1: Slang fond well, fond of a drink. Let's just say that,
- 28:25Speaker 1: Oh God, And no one could ever say what Lindsay
- 28:27Speaker 1: Graham drank, but from my sources, this is what I
- 28:28Speaker 1: imagined she did. So this is some room temperature Kim
- 28:32Speaker 1: Crawford white Wine for that mention them. Yeah, here we go.
- 28:47Speaker 1: It's a little bit of Southern comfort and put that
- 28:49Speaker 1: in there. Oh my god, twing, it just has to
- 28:54Speaker 1: go now, not long be too crazy about that anyway,
- 28:57Speaker 1: cheers y'all. No, she was fiscally responsible. So they call
- 29:03Speaker 1: that the one Tuesday. Oh my god, Oh this is good.
- 29:12Speaker 1: I know. Nice.
- 29:15Speaker 5: That's just like to me though, again, I taste a
- 29:17Speaker 5: lot of clarin in that, but it's just about giving
- 29:19Speaker 5: it a little bit of seasoning to like push that
- 29:21Speaker 5: vegetable quality forward.
- 29:23Speaker 1: And again for me, I am.
- 29:26Speaker 5: I was told by a colleague of mine that I
- 29:28Speaker 5: touched my nose too much on bartending, So thank you,
- 29:30Speaker 5: uh to my friend Truck.
- 29:32Speaker 2: Anyway, this is also really good. And I have to
- 29:35Speaker 2: tell you, not usually the kind of thing that I
- 29:38Speaker 2: would drink.
- 29:39Speaker 1: Yeah, do you know what I mean? Like that got
- 29:42Speaker 1: some sweetness to it. This doesness. This does also, but
- 29:46Speaker 1: not in a sugary sweet way. Yeah, it has. It
- 29:49Speaker 1: has texture, which I think allows like I always think
- 29:51Speaker 1: about like bartending. And this is going to sound so
- 29:53Speaker 1: like Trady and weird trading is like uh okay, like no,
- 29:57Speaker 1: but like when it comes to when it comes to
- 29:59Speaker 1: spirit though, like things need to have a shelf for
- 30:01Speaker 1: flavors to sit on, like and so something like a
- 30:05Speaker 1: good portion of gin of remooth that has like solid
- 30:07Speaker 1: like you know, chemical texture to it, and then like
- 30:09Speaker 1: can allow something like coconut water and like intense lime
- 30:13Speaker 1: oil to really sit together. You got to think about
- 30:15Speaker 1: like when you're putting drinks together, like can they be
- 30:17Speaker 1: can they be friends with each other? You know what
- 30:19Speaker 1: I mean? And I think also again, temperature is a
- 30:22Speaker 1: big factor of that, Like having that glass be cold
- 30:24Speaker 1: is half of what is enjoyable.
- 30:25Speaker 5: That's half the battle it is, and it's three times
- 30:28Speaker 5: the party. Much like what I just put into mind.
- 30:30Speaker 1: You pounded your drinks, like Lindsay cram the pounding, the
- 30:36Speaker 1: pounding was delivered. Oh god, did that taste good. I
- 30:42Speaker 1: don't think Lindsay was in it for the taste, that's true.
- 30:44Speaker 1: I think he was in it for the for the
- 30:47Speaker 1: she said, smacks of compromat. Yeah. Anyway, the Disney World
- 30:54Speaker 1: with the bubble water thing, which she said, well, how
- 30:59Speaker 1: got much time left? Yeah? Listen, Okay, but now we
- 31:03Speaker 1: have CJ has been so generous and prepared some games
- 31:08Speaker 1: for us to play. So well, we all take a
- 31:10Speaker 1: reprieve from the fascist Society that we're surviving on a
- 31:14Speaker 1: day to day basis. We thought it would be fun
- 31:16Speaker 1: to play some games with you. We need uh, we
- 31:19Speaker 1: come to this place for magic. I love Kim Crawford.
- 31:26Speaker 1: Just hit my l three people meet drunk Melissa because
- 31:31Speaker 1: it's as she tell me.
- 31:34Speaker 3: About her, she's drunken outside.
- 31:36Speaker 1: She's outside.
- 31:38Speaker 2: Tell me interesting is that they When I was younger,
- 31:43Speaker 2: like in my twenties and stuff, I could go out
- 31:45Speaker 2: with the best of them drink and drink, and then
- 31:49Speaker 2: something happened to me, like in my mid forties, and
- 31:54Speaker 2: I wanted so during the pandemic, Andre and I were
- 31:57Speaker 2: having cocktails every night, right because I will home. One
- 32:00Speaker 2: day from a walk there was a bookstore that had
- 32:03Speaker 2: like an outdoor like a whatever, like a bookshelf or whatever,
- 32:07Speaker 2: and they were selling this book like a dollar old
- 32:11Speaker 2: timey cocktails.
- 32:11Speaker 1: I was like, I'm gonna get that.
- 32:12Speaker 3: Those are some of the best ones.
- 32:14Speaker 2: And I became enamored of gimlets and sidecars and fashions,
- 32:20Speaker 2: and then Perry meniha, Perry, see I'm already doing there.
- 32:24Speaker 2: It is Perry Menopause hit me really hard and not
- 32:29Speaker 2: even a drink would get me really drunk and bring
- 32:31Speaker 2: on a hot flash, which.
- 32:32Speaker 1: Is, oh my god, a little.
- 32:35Speaker 2: Bit so so perry menopause coupled with barrassing surgery and
- 32:39Speaker 2: two SIPs and I.
- 32:41Speaker 1: Was gone, gone, that's crazy.
- 32:43Speaker 2: But it got to a place where it wasn't fun,
- 32:46Speaker 2: you know what I mean, it's not fun at all.
- 32:48Speaker 2: So lately at the Ripe Old Days fifty four, she's
- 32:52Speaker 2: coming back not as much, but like I really appreciate
- 32:56Speaker 2: a good cocktail.
- 32:58Speaker 5: And having one is enough, you know, like well, like
- 33:01Speaker 5: really though, like I have to say, like there's so
- 33:04Speaker 5: much in the culture of overconsuming. My partner and I
- 33:06Speaker 5: are both bartenders, and you know, my wife went from
- 33:09Speaker 5: running you know, very like sophisticated cocktail bars as I did,
- 33:12Speaker 5: to now she works at International Bar in the East Village,
- 33:15Speaker 5: which is an iconic dive that's open till four in
- 33:17Speaker 5: the morning every night, and you know, it's like there
- 33:20Speaker 5: she she has sort of also like we've both gotten to.
- 33:23Speaker 1: The point in our journey with this kind of being
- 33:25Speaker 1: like I just want one cocktail a night and then
- 33:28Speaker 1: like maybe a beer and then.
- 33:30Speaker 5: Like you know, because at this point it just hits different,
- 33:33Speaker 5: you know, anyway, I can have like two glasses of
- 33:35Speaker 5: wine too and then feel happier. Some of my friends
- 33:37Speaker 5: are slamming their phones against the chair on their phones.
- 33:43Speaker 1: Melissa otter Box, I saw that video. I listen.
- 33:50Speaker 5: If you need like a drinking doula person for cocktail
- 33:52Speaker 5: recipes that are low ABV, I will give.
- 33:54Speaker 1: You my number and we'll talk about Okay, great, definitely,
- 33:57Speaker 1: because I do feel like we're going away soon. Yeah,
- 34:00Speaker 1: and I have some people there are going sag Harbor.
- 34:03Speaker 1: Oh great. Yeah. And I got a new book and
- 34:07Speaker 1: I got a whole kit. Cool. I'm really excited about
- 34:10Speaker 1: my God. Well, we have to I'll give you some
- 34:11Speaker 1: recipes easy fun too, Yeah, Fasch cocktails are fun. And
- 34:15Speaker 1: the bar that Ben Bartend's at, I think all the
- 34:18Speaker 1: drinks are.
- 34:18Speaker 5: We badge the spirits, but you know, like the citrus
- 34:21Speaker 5: and stuff is fresh. But you know, and I was
- 34:22Speaker 5: thinking the price point, Oh, it's super affordable, very affordable.
- 34:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean twenty eight dollars.
- 34:27Speaker 5: No, I was like very I got a lot of
- 34:29Speaker 5: flak earlier this year for saying on another friends podcast
- 34:32Speaker 5: that I don't think cocktails should cost more than twenty dollars.
- 34:35Speaker 5: I mean because it's just not that valuable of an asset,
- 34:37Speaker 5: especially in New York. Again, people talk about this this
- 34:40Speaker 5: ridiculous thing of like gen Z is not drinking. It's like, no,
- 34:43Speaker 5: no one can afford to do anything. So for me,
- 34:46Speaker 5: as someone who builds bar programs, like you know, you
- 34:49Speaker 5: know your margins on a drink, it's like charging twenty
- 34:51Speaker 5: four to twenty six dollars for drink is both unrealistic
- 34:54Speaker 5: and not it's.
- 34:54Speaker 3: Not worth it as an asset.
- 34:56Speaker 5: And again all this processing of like, oh but it
- 34:58Speaker 5: has like beef tallow like the Himalayan mountains.
- 35:02Speaker 1: I'm like, leave that up there. No one wants that.
- 35:07Speaker 1: Do you think that?
- 35:08Speaker 2: So what you were saying earlier about like now like
- 35:11Speaker 2: one maybe two cocktails is enough, right, So let's say
- 35:15Speaker 2: you're having one twenty dollars cocktail.
- 35:17Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe that that is okay? Do you know what
- 35:20Speaker 1: I mean? Like totally yeah, I'd say like, oh yeah,
- 35:22Speaker 1: and that price point for sure. And again I think
- 35:24Speaker 1: like sixteen to eighteen is where things really like.
- 35:26Speaker 3: Tend to live when they're successful.
- 35:28Speaker 1: I'm going to name that Negroni after the two. No,
- 35:30Speaker 1: she's so she's so fun, I know.
- 35:33Speaker 5: And again it's that it's that coconut water that doesn't
- 35:36Speaker 5: it's a coconut water that doesn't get that doesn't get
- 35:38Speaker 5: stressed out, you know, like dail.
- 35:40Speaker 1: Just as the this is the white the brief briefs
- 35:44Speaker 1: and it's we just called it a brief recess. Just
- 35:46Speaker 1: recaps so we can make because I want to make
- 35:48Speaker 1: this one and a half ounces.
- 35:49Speaker 5: Of like a very like a subtle London drudge in
- 35:53Speaker 5: half an ounce of bitter bianco and then one ounce
- 35:57Speaker 5: of driver mooth stir it. Then add a half an
- 36:00Speaker 5: ounce of coconut water after the spin to lift it up.
- 36:03Speaker 5: Lime twist and a big and a big boy limeed.
- 36:05Speaker 5: And it's nice because also remember like alcohol is solvent.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Make this Inzach Harbor.
- 36:10Speaker 5: Yeah you can make it, you know you can do
- 36:11Speaker 5: you put it in the freezer so you can just
- 36:13Speaker 5: pour it out into a glass.
- 36:15Speaker 1: Yeah, you make it. So what you do is you
- 36:17Speaker 1: leave batch the whole thing and then you add about
- 36:19Speaker 1: like twenty percent dilution of a percent of water to
- 36:21Speaker 1: the total batch.
- 36:22Speaker 3: They just poured out.
- 36:23Speaker 1: Okay, Iconic CJ. Walk us through the roles of our game.
- 36:27Speaker 1: Please show us the game. Okay, where's my Lindsay Graham
- 36:33Speaker 1: drink you drinking girl, I think she did. She's like, honey,
- 36:37Speaker 1: one more, lady Bug, give me a Mitch McConnell vegetables,
- 36:42Speaker 1: A vegetable, bloody Marry. Do you know that I did
- 36:44Speaker 1: not know about the Ladybug? Really wild. I've explained about it.
- 36:49Speaker 1: I read about it. You do your showy, Okay, you
- 36:53Speaker 1: want to do it. Yeah.
- 36:54Speaker 2: So here's the thing. I did not know about this,
- 36:56Speaker 2: and I read about it. I was just like, ladybug.
- 37:00Speaker 2: So I go and I look, and I look and
- 37:01Speaker 2: I look, And apparently, allegedly, Lindsay went to go meet
- 37:07Speaker 2: a a sex work right, and the sex worker went
- 37:13Speaker 2: into the bathroom to get prepared, as one does, and
- 37:16Speaker 2: came out and Miss Lindsay was on all.
- 37:18Speaker 1: Fours ass up. She was, she was ready, and the
- 37:23Speaker 1: the worker said, did you clean up? And Lindsay was like,
- 37:28Speaker 1: of course I did.
- 37:29Speaker 2: And then but the workers looking and they're like, I
- 37:33Speaker 2: don't know because I see some stuff and I don't
- 37:36Speaker 2: understand what's going on the worker.
- 37:39Speaker 1: The worker said, so there was a sort of like
- 37:41Speaker 1: a like a referendum on his and so worker I
- 37:48Speaker 1: forget what the name of the person was.
- 37:50Speaker 2: But worker goes and tries to wipe wipe the area off,
- 37:55Speaker 2: and Lindsay says, oh, those are just my lady bugs,
- 38:02Speaker 2: and worker was like it can't do it walked out.
- 38:06Speaker 2: Now Here's that's what I think I heard. But I
- 38:09Speaker 2: feel like, so this is the thing. I am always
- 38:11Speaker 2: fascinated by people who are like, this is so off
- 38:16Speaker 2: putting to me that I'm willing.
- 38:17Speaker 1: To leave money on the table. I'm walking away from McDonald's.
- 38:21Speaker 1: Sounds like a few of my bar contracts. It's so awful. Yeah,
- 38:26Speaker 1: And I also think, really walk away from all the money,
- 38:29Speaker 1: but also for that reason I'm out, But also as
- 38:34Speaker 1: a sex worker, I think about all the things that
- 38:36Speaker 1: you've seen, and this is the thing, and that's just
- 38:39Speaker 1: what is beyond the tale. It is too much Miss
- 38:42Speaker 1: Lindsay and her bug collection. I love like I have
- 38:45Speaker 1: friends who were sex workers in their twenties, and I
- 38:48Speaker 1: love hearing their stories about the crazy things they've seen
- 38:51Speaker 1: because they've really so many people are sexual workers just
- 38:54Speaker 1: have the best story. They have really good stories. That So.
- 38:56Speaker 2: I had a friend of mine who was a sex
- 38:57Speaker 2: worker and he fall upon hard times and was saying,
- 39:02Speaker 2: had tricks come to his home and his most like
- 39:08Speaker 2: loyal John was a Hasidic man who had a sort
- 39:14Speaker 2: of like a.
- 39:16Speaker 1: Excuse me, a black man, like.
- 39:20Speaker 2: A fetish, but like it couldn't just be like any
- 39:22Speaker 2: old guy he had.
- 39:23Speaker 1: He had him like.
- 39:26Speaker 2: Dressed up is like a like a corporate battye. Right,
- 39:30Speaker 2: he had to be like full on suit.
- 39:33Speaker 4: Breathcase but like like like Wolf, yes very much and
- 39:37Speaker 4: so very much because this was like the nineties, right,
- 39:40Speaker 4: it was actually, it was actually and.
- 39:43Speaker 1: This is like sort of Jack Day.
- 39:46Speaker 2: And I found that so interesting because a the fetish
- 39:51Speaker 2: is like weird to me.
- 39:51Speaker 1: But you know, I'm not sex shaming, but like you,
- 39:57Speaker 1: what would your friend say about it? I mean, I
- 40:00Speaker 1: gotta get the suit. I'm running out of suits. But
- 40:06Speaker 1: like he but hit a lot of his.
- 40:10Speaker 2: Sorry, a lot of his best customers were like these
- 40:13Speaker 2: sort of like wealthy or like super duper, like the guy.
- 40:20Speaker 1: From Wolf of Wall Street. I really yeah, just now
- 40:26Speaker 1: yeah yeah, well you know we're the same height, being
- 40:29Speaker 1: Dan Rad. He's a delicious little snack and I'm sort
- 40:37Speaker 1: of like a long lunch tray of a woman. Anyway,
- 40:42Speaker 1: that was like this guy's thing. That's crazy. I know,
- 40:45Speaker 1: you know what I keep on thinking about.
- 40:47Speaker 2: I mean, this is sort of a little bit more serious,
- 40:48Speaker 2: but like, you know, this is the same person who's
- 40:52Speaker 2: not going back to his wife and you know, and
- 40:56Speaker 2: wife and children and having unprotected sex with her.
- 40:59Speaker 3: Oh my god, do.
- 41:00Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Anyway, well, you know, and
- 41:02Speaker 1: it's I I didn't mean that, and it's flippantly like
- 41:04Speaker 1: you know, there's a many friends of mine in Brooklyn
- 41:07Speaker 1: sex workers that are patronized by the city community. And
- 41:10Speaker 1: it's the thing.
- 41:11Speaker 2: It's it's it's a thing, and it's a real I mean,
- 41:13Speaker 2: and I think that's what happens when you live in
- 41:15Speaker 2: a society where you are so not allowed to be
- 41:18Speaker 2: yourself and it comes out in ways like that, and
- 41:21Speaker 2: it actually makes me feel terrible.
- 41:24Speaker 1: We should be allowed to be who we are. Makes
- 41:27Speaker 1: you want to make one more by all means one more, lady.
- 41:33Speaker 1: This is just just know that is Southern comfort. This
- 41:37Speaker 1: is Southern comfort. It was I thought it was.
- 41:39Speaker 5: Actually I brought it in a well Southern comfort. To
- 41:41Speaker 5: see this game seems really fun because you've never done Poppers.
- 41:47Speaker 1: No, never Amsterdam sponsor me okay, hard cut to the game.
- 41:53Speaker 1: The brief recess rely fun looks fun. Well, we'll show
- 41:57Speaker 1: you will show.
- 41:59Speaker 3: Very anopause is gonna hate those.
- 42:03Speaker 1: Us a lot of things, but the bar maybe she'll
- 42:06Speaker 1: love it. Actually, I don't know. Okay, the game, this
- 42:08Speaker 1: is kind of this seems like an ad test. Okay, okay,
- 42:11Speaker 1: Round one okay, okay, So CJ explained the roles. So
- 42:15Speaker 1: we have twenty rounds. We don't have to get through.
- 42:18Speaker 1: Do you think you can count that high? CJ? CJ
- 42:21Speaker 1: was optimistic.
- 42:23Speaker 7: Two of these are real headlines. One of them is
- 42:25Speaker 7: a fake headline, and you'll I'll click on you.
- 42:29Speaker 1: Know, maybe we go one at a time.
- 42:30Speaker 7: Michael your first, whoever, so we're.
- 42:33Speaker 1: All going to read a headline. The first one is
- 42:35Speaker 1: man arrested for driving a riding like a ride on
- 42:40Speaker 1: lawnmower while intoxicated on a city street. Okay, number two,
- 42:44Speaker 1: you do. Number two man arrested for duy while riding
- 42:50Speaker 1: a horse and carry an open container.
- 42:53Speaker 2: Man arrested after attempting to register a barstool as his
- 42:56Speaker 2: designated driver.
- 42:58Speaker 1: Which one of these is real? Registered one? You are real?
- 43:04Speaker 1: As someone invested you know who grew up versed in
- 43:07Speaker 1: sort of New England white drunk people culture. The lawnmowers.
- 43:10Speaker 1: The lawnmower, and the second one is real. A man
- 43:14Speaker 1: would never take the time to go to the registrart
- 43:18Speaker 1: like the d m V. You know, man, and I'm
- 43:22Speaker 1: assuming white man would ever take the time to register
- 43:25Speaker 1: from from Hamilton, Massachusetts. That's true, locking that in White
- 43:30Speaker 1: people would maybe I would are we are we agreeing
- 43:33Speaker 1: as a collective or no? I agree because I feel
- 43:37Speaker 1: like if someone brought a lawnmower in here, I would
- 43:39Speaker 1: probably try and write it law. Yeah, it seems I actually,
- 43:43Speaker 1: I will tell you I know for a fact. The
- 43:45Speaker 1: first one is real. Yeah, it is real, because you
- 43:48Speaker 1: know the locking in his name was Lindsay Graham. Okay,
- 43:53Speaker 1: locking in the third locking in round because white men
- 43:57Speaker 1: would never Yeah, get that. It's awful. Oh wait, so
- 44:02Speaker 1: way we win? How many? So at the end? Wait
- 44:07Speaker 1: at the end, how many? H Please don't let you
- 44:13Speaker 1: drink another, lady, I've been through it, Ben, What is
- 44:18Speaker 1: the most overrated drink? Okay?
- 44:22Speaker 5: I mean the most overrated drink is the Okay, there's
- 44:26Speaker 5: a couple of different ways to think about that, because
- 44:28Speaker 5: anything's good, Like on a I live in a place
- 44:31Speaker 5: without shame, Like I think that a lot of bourbon
- 44:34Speaker 5: tastes similar to each other because the way that bourbon
- 44:37Speaker 5: is made and the like it has a proprietary standard,
- 44:41Speaker 5: it all tastes the same.
- 44:42Speaker 1: Bourbon. It's so much wood. It's corn. Well, that's what
- 44:49Speaker 1: I'm last. I feel like I'm liking a telephone pole
- 44:52Speaker 1: the girl from Hereditary.
- 44:54Speaker 5: So so bourbon has to be forty nine percent corn
- 44:57Speaker 5: like by its creation, so inherently it's gonna be has
- 45:00Speaker 5: to be an aged in New American oak like, so
- 45:03Speaker 5: it's going to take on a lot of wood flavor
- 45:05Speaker 5: and to be bourbon has to have very specific stuff
- 45:07Speaker 5: with the other percentage of I think maybe fifty one percent.
- 45:09Speaker 5: Some bartender is going to be having a free nut
- 45:11Speaker 5: free time and talking about it in the Chatlanam.
- 45:13Speaker 1: The long story short is that like it. The flavor
- 45:16Speaker 1: profile of it is print has to be kind of
- 45:20Speaker 1: more constrained, Like it's not like gin where it just
- 45:22Speaker 1: has to have juniperin it can have like a whole
- 45:24Speaker 1: pumpkin in it. So for me, is it overrated? When
- 45:29Speaker 1: I think there are like premium brands that taste similar
- 45:32Speaker 1: to like affordable brands like, and there's brands that I
- 45:35Speaker 1: feel like to be frank scam and like they have
- 45:38Speaker 1: a raised price point and they're like, oh, this is
- 45:40Speaker 1: worth one hundred and eighty dollars, but it tastes similar
- 45:43Speaker 1: to the Workhorse brand. I would say that that experience
- 45:46Speaker 1: is a little overrated because I think in a price
- 45:48Speaker 1: conscious way. So if you're buying a Bourbon, go for
- 45:51Speaker 1: like the middle of the road. I would say, like,
- 45:53Speaker 1: go for the brands that are reliable and don't play
- 45:55Speaker 1: into some any sort of like hype thing.
- 45:57Speaker 5: Like so certain brands devalue the craft of it by
- 46:00Speaker 5: being like, oh, today we have a sprite remix Bourbon,
- 46:03Speaker 5: which is fun to do, but it's like dials in.
- 46:06Speaker 1: It's like we make this in Kentucky and it's really delicious, and.
- 46:08Speaker 3: I think it'suy. You should have it.
- 46:10Speaker 1: Apparently I know nothing not alcohol. Round twenty all right,
- 46:16Speaker 1: I s erring employee arrested after attempting to complete a
- 46:19Speaker 1: sobriety test while wearing hockey skates. I got number two.
- 46:22Speaker 1: Zamboni driver arrested after spectators reported him during a driving
- 46:27Speaker 1: erratically during a youth hockey game.
- 46:29Speaker 2: Zamboni driver convicted of operating the machine drunk during a.
- 46:33Speaker 1: High school I think this is school. They are real.
- 46:37Speaker 1: I think number one seems a little suctor and number
- 46:41Speaker 1: two is Zamboni arrested after spectators reporting him driving erratically.
- 46:45Speaker 1: I mean, let's talk about it. I mean, I have
- 46:48Speaker 1: a cousin who drives a Zamboni. He drove a dodged
- 46:52Speaker 1: arch and my mom had a dodge dart. When my
- 46:56Speaker 1: mom is your cousin, that's how I feel like I
- 46:59Speaker 1: knew you right. No, but he also he ate mostly
- 47:02Speaker 1: roast beef and he has like a couple of missing teeth,
- 47:05Speaker 1: so but he drove. He was great at Zamboni in
- 47:07Speaker 1: the eyes. I love roast beef. I know you love.
- 47:10Speaker 1: Do you know about a North Shore roast beef from Massachusetts? Now,
- 47:12Speaker 1: what's that? Well, okay, it's just beef on bread. It
- 47:15Speaker 1: is a it is a top round of beef like
- 47:17Speaker 1: shave fin with a It's called James River barbecue sauce.
- 47:21Speaker 5: It's just like a kind of like more almost like
- 47:23Speaker 5: a mop sauce style of barbecue sauce. And it has
- 47:26Speaker 5: to be made by a bunch of men and one
- 47:29Speaker 5: cruel Greek woman with a large, large round hairstyle and yelling.
- 47:36Speaker 5: My brother and I have a pop up in New
- 47:37Speaker 5: York that we do making the sandwich?
- 47:39Speaker 1: Are you doing? Yeah? If I ever had money, I
- 47:41Speaker 1: would open up a stand where if you're looking to
- 47:43Speaker 1: invest guys, Yes, right here. I also teach bartending lessons
- 47:46Speaker 1: despite me not knowing anything about alcohol. Apparently in round three,
- 47:50Speaker 1: I think I think round one is fake the first
- 47:54Speaker 1: round two Question one, question one, Round two question one?
- 47:58Speaker 1: Yeah you think this is fake? Yeah? I need another ladybug.
- 48:03Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, I'm really good at this. Or I know
- 48:10Speaker 1: how to see j things well your lawyers, so you
- 48:12Speaker 1: should know say that.
- 48:13Speaker 3: Okay.
- 48:13Speaker 7: Also, by the way, I feel like you know how
- 48:15Speaker 7: when you get a dui they put a breathlager in
- 48:17Speaker 7: your car to start it. I feel like for the zamboni,
- 48:19Speaker 7: it's yeah, you got to.
- 48:21Speaker 1: Go into a hotey. I think you got to hit
- 48:24Speaker 1: a slap shot at like mid ice? Is that is that?
- 48:27Speaker 1: Is that that pass? I like sports, I just don't
- 48:30Speaker 1: know about that. Did that pass? Rivalry? I haven't watched
- 48:35Speaker 1: it yet. You haven't watched it. I haven't watched he Environment.
- 48:38Speaker 3: I have been watching Friends lately.
- 48:40Speaker 1: Okay, we're going to go to around. It's funny.
- 48:42Speaker 3: It's funny show.
- 48:44Speaker 1: It's surreal, surreal in one way. Well, all the Simpsons
- 48:47Speaker 1: actors are in the first season Round three. Okay, I'm
- 48:51Speaker 1: reading number one and talk Scated man called nine one
- 48:54Speaker 1: one twelve times to complain that a bar overcharged him.
- 48:57Speaker 1: I believe that actually, okay, man arrested after drink after
- 49:00Speaker 1: calling now when we got a little drunk, I will yeah,
- 49:03Speaker 1: to ask whether Happy Hour legally had to last sixteen minutes.
- 49:07Speaker 2: I kind of believe that Illinois man accused of drunkenly
- 49:11Speaker 2: driving a lawnmower on a public growth.
- 49:13Speaker 1: That's real. Yeah, that's real. Well, they have a flat street.
- 49:16Speaker 1: I'm on one twelve times to complain that a bar
- 49:18Speaker 1: overcharged him. I do feel like someone would do that.
- 49:21Speaker 3: I know that that's happened.
- 49:23Speaker 1: I can so intoximated.
- 49:25Speaker 2: Sorry, intoxicated man called nine one one twelve times to
- 49:29Speaker 2: complain that a bar overcharged him.
- 49:31Speaker 1: Do we think that that's fake? I think it's real. No,
- 49:34Speaker 1: I think that's real. And what do you think about
- 49:36Speaker 1: Happy Hour lasting an hour? I do feel like some pain.
- 49:39Speaker 1: I think it should be five to seven or if
- 49:41Speaker 1: you open at four four to seven? Oh, legally had
- 49:44Speaker 1: this is I'm imagining they were like, oh, happy Hour
- 49:46Speaker 1: specials are over. Yeah, and it was at it was
- 49:49Speaker 1: at six fifty nine. I feel like I feel like, yeah,
- 49:54Speaker 1: we need to know which one is. I think it's
- 49:57Speaker 1: the bottom one. No, I know, and it is real. Oh,
- 50:01Speaker 1: I don't know. All of this is plausible, but ridiculous life.
- 50:04Speaker 1: I think the second one is fake. Yeah, I know
- 50:08Speaker 1: number one is real, like a real housewife would do
- 50:10Speaker 1: number one, Like that's w Yeah, which one? It was?
- 50:14Speaker 1: The second one? The second one is fake? Second one? Okay.
- 50:18Speaker 1: Round four intoxicated men arrested for trying to recreate beach
- 50:24Speaker 1: volleyball scene from Top Gun in the Walmart.
- 50:27Speaker 3: I think that's real.
- 50:27Speaker 1: I think that's fucking I think that's so real. Also,
- 50:30Speaker 1: I know number two is real because we got Florida
- 50:32Speaker 1: Man at the top. Florida Man agen.
- 50:35Speaker 5: Sorry, I'm also blind allegedly faked the heart attacks on
- 50:37Speaker 5: his accomplice could push a cart full of toys on Walmart.
- 50:41Speaker 1: First of all, I endorse that's iconic.
- 50:48Speaker 2: Radio drunk Amish man operating a horse and buggy hits
- 50:52Speaker 2: police car, slow speed.
- 50:54Speaker 1: Chase ends in d uy. First of all, I think
- 50:56Speaker 1: that's real. That's real. And I also endorse the Homish
- 50:59Speaker 1: because they make stuff. They do make.
- 51:00Speaker 2: They make really good bread.
- 51:03Speaker 1: It's an oppressive society. I love. Do you like a pretzel?
- 51:06Speaker 1: I feel like I feel like the pretzels disappearing from
- 51:09Speaker 1: our society. And then I talk about pretzels. What do
- 51:11Speaker 1: you mean? I don't feel Okay?
- 51:13Speaker 5: When I was younger, Clinton, right, take us back, think
- 51:18Speaker 5: about it, Clinton, Blockbuster, we were all there. I felt
- 51:22Speaker 5: like there was a more like second pretzel economy in
- 51:26Speaker 5: which you could get a basket of small pretzels or
- 51:29Speaker 5: a large one at the mall Auntie Ann's.
- 51:32Speaker 1: In a truck around soho, Now I saw which one? Okay,
- 51:36Speaker 1: let me ask you this, the auntie An pretzels? What
- 51:39Speaker 1: kind of you getting all of them? I really you
- 51:43Speaker 1: got to pick one? If I'm so, I'm not. I
- 51:46Speaker 1: like I like the plane. I like the plane. Okay.
- 51:52Speaker 1: Outside the d m V in downtown Brooklyn there is
- 51:55Speaker 1: an Auntie and manned by a man with nothing but
- 51:58Speaker 1: hatred in his heart. I got to tell you something,
- 52:01Speaker 1: thank you to him? What was it? Because when I'm there,
- 52:03Speaker 1: what's yours? Order?
- 52:05Speaker 3: I get? Oh?
- 52:06Speaker 1: I get the basket of the sweet ones. And the
- 52:08Speaker 1: thing I know it's gross. Sweet ones is in the.
- 52:11Speaker 5: And then I get what I get, the diabetic lemonade,
- 52:14Speaker 5: and I feel my leg twitching, and I'm like, baby, I.
- 52:17Speaker 1: Think I'm with Michael, but I'm into the pretzel verse.
- 52:22Speaker 1: I'm down for like all of it.
- 52:23Speaker 5: I'm just saying I feel like as a commodity there
- 52:26Speaker 5: used to be like a guy walking around me, like, yeah, pretzels.
- 52:31Speaker 1: I'm dressed up like him right now, apparently. And sometimes
- 52:33Speaker 1: when I get a pretzel from the pretzel guy, like
- 52:35Speaker 1: at the hot dog stand, sometimes they're really good, but
- 52:38Speaker 1: sometimes they've been there for four days, yes, because not
- 52:40Speaker 1: that people are I think that the pretzel are supposed
- 52:43Speaker 1: to be like soft salty. I'm not cracking a crown. Yeah,
- 52:48Speaker 1: these fake teeth aren't coming. I'm not gumming that pretzel.
- 52:51Speaker 1: This this, I'm not going to go home.
- 52:56Speaker 2: So I feel like, so like this week, I had
- 52:59Speaker 2: like a really weird eating week, but I felt like
- 53:03Speaker 2: I was eating like sort of junkie things that I
- 53:05Speaker 2: normally don't eat, and like potato chips and things like that,
- 53:08Speaker 2: and I felt really like my mouth was.
- 53:10Speaker 1: On fire in a really weird way. But like the
- 53:13Speaker 1: pretzel is like a sound. It is bland.
- 53:16Speaker 2: It's a bland and I feel like it is the
- 53:19Speaker 2: healthy junk we say this to our I actually what
- 53:22Speaker 2: I tell myself to us.
- 53:24Speaker 1: I have a follow up question. So it's Auntie Anne's
- 53:27Speaker 1: what's the uncle's name? Is it uncle Anne? Uncles? And
- 53:30Speaker 1: the last name? And Auntie Anne is like Anne is
- 53:34Speaker 1: her first name?
- 53:34Speaker 8: Yea for those of you watch, well, what's the what's
- 53:37Speaker 8: the family name? Oh, it's like you're making a podcast
- 53:43Speaker 8: for me. I'm very funny and you should definitely book
- 53:46Speaker 8: me or produce.
- 53:47Speaker 1: Me whatever you want to do. Back to it, I
- 53:52Speaker 1: think that, uh, it's probably not the Florida Man, because
- 53:56Speaker 1: I would do that. I feel like the first one
- 53:59Speaker 1: someone did that for Instagram it was like one of
- 54:01Speaker 1: those technic houses rush. The scientific problem is that as
- 54:05Speaker 1: we go on, all of them seem like they could
- 54:07Speaker 1: be real. You know, we have because we're all like
- 54:12Speaker 1: I want to do that. I know. I think I
- 54:15Speaker 1: think the Amish is real Florida. I think we just
- 54:17Speaker 1: have to assume anything that happens in Florida is real.
- 54:19Speaker 1: I mean, so maybe the top gun is fake and
- 54:23Speaker 1: that was just staged. What would lindsay say would say
- 54:28Speaker 1: he'd be like at all the top one is fake.
- 54:32Speaker 1: We're four for four c J are they all fake?
- 54:34Speaker 1: Are we just getting it rang in the second one? Yeah,
- 54:42Speaker 1: so the actual article, J got a drunk we got
- 54:47Speaker 1: a drunk guy. Okay, round five minutes candles to like
- 54:52Speaker 1: seven rounds if you lot, Okay. Man trespassed from Walmart
- 54:55Speaker 1: was arrested after allegedly leaving behind the backpack containing his sauce.
- 54:59Speaker 1: So the pausible like deeply pla is like, I think
- 55:02Speaker 1: that happened like twenty minutes ago. That's why my clients. Yeah, absolutely,
- 55:06Speaker 1: I'll be retaining it for similar charges.
- 55:09Speaker 2: Uh.
- 55:09Speaker 5: North Carolina met shout out to North Carolina. Uh, North
- 55:13Speaker 5: Carolina man allegedly.
- 55:14Speaker 1: Why my family's from there? Okay, My cousin Bradley is.
- 55:18Speaker 3: On the beach right now trying to figure it out.
- 55:20Speaker 1: Just shouting out to state. Doesn't say why why would
- 55:24Speaker 1: I listen? You don't have a phone case you can
- 55:27Speaker 1: tell me I know. And also we're still okay. North
- 55:34Speaker 1: Carolina man allegedly stuffed about one hundred dollars worth of
- 55:37Speaker 1: Walmart steaks into his pants and fled in the mop
- 55:39Speaker 1: plausible as absolutely what a moped is like a motorcycle.
- 55:43Speaker 1: You know what that is?
- 55:44Speaker 3: Come, It's like, yeah, it's.
- 55:47Speaker 1: Like a motorcycle. No, it's like a Lindsay McGuire motorcycle. Yeah.
- 55:56Speaker 1: You know the other day I was on the beach.
- 55:58Speaker 1: I was on the beach and I had had a
- 55:59Speaker 1: glass of wine. It was very hot. I said, what's
- 56:01Speaker 1: that author's name? Emily Elizabeth Dickinson. Although my friend, my
- 56:09Speaker 1: friend very hilariously named NA named his beach umbrella our
- 56:12Speaker 1: friend's beach umbrella Emily dick insands.
- 56:16Speaker 2: The third one, Melissa sorry Man allegedly concealed a Walmart
- 56:22Speaker 2: television inside.
- 56:25Speaker 1: Beats a bag and eskipped on roller base.
- 56:30Speaker 2: I mean, I buy it. How's your rollerblading game? It
- 56:34Speaker 2: used to be good, but I have not been on.
- 56:36Speaker 2: I haven't been on a roller blades in like thirty years.
- 56:39Speaker 1: I feel the stopping mechanism was never fully flushed out.
- 56:42Speaker 1: Why was it a pencil eraser? And my dad, my
- 56:44Speaker 1: dad used to do the cones, you know all that.
- 56:47Speaker 5: Yeah, shout out to tim and Massachusetts.
- 56:53Speaker 1: But is your dad what generation is dead?
- 56:55Speaker 3: Next? He is sixty four?
- 56:59Speaker 1: Loved rollerblading? Yeah, they me on LIKEXT but you know,
- 57:07Speaker 1: he really though he would slay it, and he would
- 57:09Speaker 1: do it in my neighborhood. He also is a chef,
- 57:10Speaker 1: and he you know is he owns a catering company.
- 57:12Speaker 1: My mom is the books the parties. Yeah, so I've
- 57:15Speaker 1: been doing this trash since I was a zygoat. Shout
- 57:19Speaker 1: out to and you know, like and and but he
- 57:22Speaker 1: would really like do that, sustain a horrid injury on
- 57:25Speaker 1: the pavement, go back, cook for the party, and work
- 57:29Speaker 1: it out by an amish candle. I think that it's
- 57:31Speaker 1: I think the shotgun is fake? Did we finished?
- 57:34Speaker 3: We did?
- 57:34Speaker 1: Yeah? I think. But you're a lawyer. You don't think
- 57:38Speaker 1: that that's plausible. I mean, I think it's plausible. But
- 57:42Speaker 1: they all seem plausible at this point. Final number one
- 57:47Speaker 1: is fake. Let's just go for it. Yeah, let's do it.
- 57:49Speaker 1: I just feel like it's yeah, number one's fake. All right,
- 57:52Speaker 1: the lady both are killing me. Just what do we get?
- 57:59Speaker 1: Which I told you? Shout out to telling you, yes,
- 58:06Speaker 1: shout out to lindsay, I'm sorry. Did you see that
- 58:10Speaker 1: his sister has said that she's just Claric's definitely all
- 58:14Speaker 1: I was will I was traping about in the in
- 58:16Speaker 1: the greenroom around in the I did slam the door
- 58:19Speaker 1: when I was in there. We heard him.
- 58:21Speaker 2: It's not your fault because the problem with this door
- 58:24Speaker 2: is that door. I don't know, because.
- 58:26Speaker 1: Sometimes it's a soft close and other times it shout
- 58:29Speaker 1: out to close.
- 58:30Speaker 5: You don't think that man with a beard couldn't put
- 58:31Speaker 5: a piece of foam rubber down.
- 58:34Speaker 1: What I'm gonna say is that the fact that his
- 58:38Speaker 1: name is Lindsay. Mm hmm, that's I just think from
- 58:43Speaker 1: the job. Do you feel like all names like that
- 58:46Speaker 1: so Lindsey Robin pat I as someone who is married
- 58:51Speaker 1: to my partner, who is a woman and is the
- 58:54Speaker 1: one who does all of the butcher work in our home.
- 58:57Speaker 1: I don't subscribe even before that to the normal nature
- 59:00Speaker 1: of names. That being said, when that child came out
- 59:03Speaker 1: twisted in the wind with a bit of sugar in
- 59:07Speaker 1: the tank, the name Lindsay should have been a h
- 59:14Speaker 1: a demonstrative clause.
- 59:19Speaker 5: I mean, also like all these like foghorn leghorns sounding
- 59:22Speaker 5: gay people like it's like I said, I said, ladybugs
- 59:27Speaker 5: down there.
- 59:28Speaker 1: He does, he does. He is giving a lot of
- 59:30Speaker 1: scarlet O'Hara.
- 59:32Speaker 5: Right, yeah, I mean, you know my you know what
- 59:34Speaker 5: I'm gonna be my favorite recconnell quote.
- 59:36Speaker 1: Ready, is that fucked up? No, it's not a bar
- 59:51Speaker 1: to the last episode. Here's here's the reason.
- 59:54Speaker 2: Why it's not fucked up is because it's it's a fraud.
- 59:58Speaker 1: No, no, no, but it's true, right and ring until the deadline?
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: Right because he has absolutely glitched out in front of
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: all of us for.
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: Three years ago. I had a thing on my front.
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: Here's the thing. Is this true that James Carvel is
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: Basher's campaign manager? Is that something that's true?
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: Or I just read that online.
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: I have no idea, CJ. You get out of the
- 1:00:20Speaker 1: wall mart with a TV or not that he knows
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: how to invoke. CJ. Well, we met in the elevator.
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: You weren't there. Why is the Why is the hallway
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: like that? Down there? It's like a Faustian hellscape? Right
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: straight to camera? Tell iHeart the camera? Why is it
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: like that? By heart? I'd do better. Tales from the
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: DMS Melissa's line.
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: Friends friends, friends, friends, friends. While Michael is a lawyer,
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: he's not your lawyer, So go get your own.
- 1:00:53Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:00:55Speaker 2: I really want to read this because I'm I'm a
- 1:00:57Speaker 2: little bit irritated at it. So let me just say,
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: I am not expecting uh universal likability, right, like we
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: are not for everybody, and that's okay.
- 1:01:07Speaker 1: No, no, no, seriously, it's not okay.
- 1:01:08Speaker 2: Right, there's a there's there's a there's a podcast for everyone,
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: and if we are not your podcast, that's okay.
- 1:01:17Speaker 1: However, this person l A R B B. I'm not
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: wearing my reading glasses. Hold On.
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: Three weeks ago said they do repetitive loops and talk
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: about really tedious stuff sometimes, especially when they talk about
- 1:01:33Speaker 2: political things. It's often very ignorant or wrong about basic stuff. Parentheses,
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: reflection pool lo o L it's reflecting pool. So that's
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: a little painful. I usually listen to about eight minutes
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: and then I remember, let me tell you something.
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: Come here, I.
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: Because I am open to being educated about things. I
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: when I look it up, you stupid motherfucker.
- 1:02:03Speaker 3: That's right.
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: It is.
- 1:02:05Speaker 2: It's interchangeable reflecting reflection. I don't mind being called out on.
- 1:02:12Speaker 1: Stuff, but make it make sense. You're wrong, And what
- 1:02:16Speaker 1: I really think is really we're wrong all the time.
- 1:02:20Speaker 1: I know, but one thing about the idea.
- 1:02:24Speaker 2: That it's interchangeable. And because I was worried, I'm like oh,
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: maybe they're right. So I looked it up and found
- 1:02:29Speaker 2: out that we weren't sad things the same thing. You
- 1:02:33Speaker 2: could have done the same thing. I don't mind that
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: someone doesn't like us. I don't mind that it could
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: be wrong about things. But you did not take the
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: time to bother to look at Google is your friend
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: and it's free, Laura, let me tell you.
- 1:02:53Speaker 1: It. Really, it really annoyed me. Who song.
- 1:03:08Speaker 2: And I have another one that I want to read,
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: which is actually okay, ignorant and rude from it was recommended.
- 1:03:16Speaker 2: Well they lost me, stop stop pouring. Well they lost me.
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: This week's episode about Luigi Mangioni revealed both hosts to
- 1:03:25Speaker 2: be ignorant of pretty much anything besides themselves. Michael especially,
- 1:03:31Speaker 2: I can't stand.
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: Sorry, I can't see. That's why I can't say.
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: I can't stand his nasty superior attitude when he doesn't
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: know basic history, geography.
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: Or culture.
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: I can't believe that Karen and Georgia have these people
- 1:03:45Speaker 2: in their network. Unsubscribing now listen to me, no no, no, no,
- 1:03:50Speaker 2: no no. But again, I think it's fine if we're
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: not for everybody.
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: Because we're not right.
- 1:03:57Speaker 2: I was listening to a podcast recently that apparently lots
- 1:04:01Speaker 2: of people love, and I listened to a few episodes
- 1:04:03Speaker 2: and it was not for me, not because of anything,
- 1:04:06Speaker 2: but like I gotta tell you the one host, the
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: voice that was what it was. No, no, no, no,
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: hold on, that's what it was. But it's okay.
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: Yeah, but I think that I really don't know any
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: geography or history. No one said you did, and I was.
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: I was the child left behind, Like there was one.
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: I went to an unaccredited high school. Yeah, so you
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: know what it's education acredited. During eleventh grade, they called
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: an assembly and they were like, I was excited to
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: announce this school just credit. Did you know that you
- 1:04:42Speaker 1: were going to this random school owned by Bob by
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: Heart Robert iHeart, Alexicic Mom.
- 1:04:49Speaker 2: Well no, but I mean I think you know again,
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: if there's something I don't mind not knowing about something,
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: Being ignorant is okay, because if you're willing to learn,
- 1:04:58Speaker 2: it's fine. Being stupid is something else. Stupid is a
- 1:05:01Speaker 2: stupid does right. But but but if there's something that
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: we have gotten wrong, I am very open to being corrected.
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: Correct her, don't correct me because I don't care. No,
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: especially correct him because white men and their ego. Yeah,
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: we did go. Yeah, your flight, your flight by She said,
- 1:05:24Speaker 1: sorry to.
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: See what I said, sorry to the noise, no no, no,
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: saying it wasn't funny.
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: And I had nothing to follow up with. I got nothing,
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: but I will say this. You got a phone case,
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: you know I think that Wait, can I read this one? Yeah?
- 1:05:38Speaker 5: My mother whoa my friend's mother had a toe amputated
- 1:05:43Speaker 5: due to diabetes.
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: She asked her podiatrists for a ten percent. The podiatrist
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: told her they charged by the foot. Do you know why?
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: Do you know why that person wrote it? I don't
- 1:05:55Speaker 1: know about that. What I want I know that your
- 1:05:57Speaker 1: cat has three legs. And a man called you fat
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: at the airport. Thank you for listening. Thank you.
- 1:06:03Speaker 5: I have a lot of free time. No, please hired me.
- 1:06:06Speaker 5: I'm great on the podcast.
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: Only somebody who really listens with stuff though, And he said,
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: oh you must have been said like you a lot.
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: She said. He was like, madam, you've changed French too.
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: It's like yeah, And then he was like, because you
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: see it a lotzy. Someone wrote in about manicures. A
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: woman with one arm got a manicure and right one
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: hand got a many booked a full fifty minute appointment,
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: and they charged and they charged your full for because
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: she booked a fifty minute appointment and she got a
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: fifty minute appointment with the one hand, they have five medicals,
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: you know, And then they asked she asked for a
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: discount at the register, and the guy, the original person,
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: was like, I don't know that you need? Have you
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: all followed this woman who got pulled over for texting
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: with the phone in her right hand, had hands. Yeah,
- 1:06:52Speaker 1: she should be the president. She should come up.
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: Listen to me, Ben, I need anybody could be almost anybody.
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: If there's any think that this president has told us
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: is that all your dreams can come true.
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: I'm a bartender on an iHeartRadio podcast, but like, but anybody, anybody,
- 1:07:12Speaker 1: but truly, anybody could be president. The great fallacy of.
- 1:07:15Speaker 5: The American dream is that this culture is a meritocracy
- 1:07:18Speaker 5: and that things are earned and that you know, you
- 1:07:20Speaker 5: work your way up and that everything is given. And
- 1:07:21Speaker 5: you know, I and every one of my you know,
- 1:07:24Speaker 5: sort of flopped millennial generation just like really on Tumblr,
- 1:07:27Speaker 5: like you know, like dreaming and dreaming and dreaming and
- 1:07:29Speaker 5: like costly.
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: And well I like it's time to book a by
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: with a cardiology by insurance. My Space, I think it's
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: time for Colono.
- 1:07:44Speaker 5: But what I'm saying is that, like you know, Tumblr
- 1:07:46Speaker 5: is for pictures of people standing the wrong way and
- 1:07:48Speaker 5: for those who get to get it, I'm just saying
- 1:07:50Speaker 5: that it's like those The fallacy of Donald Trump being
- 1:07:54Speaker 5: the president of the United States shows all the people
- 1:07:56Speaker 5: of my generation that it's like, you did your test
- 1:08:00Speaker 5: and you worked real hard at it, and you were
- 1:08:02Speaker 5: so good at your job.
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: But you know what, private equity owns the cocktail bar?
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: So what are you going to do? Have a Lindsay.
- 1:08:10Speaker 3: Graham on the air.
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: Let me ask you.
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: One more are you is there any private equity that
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: owns bars and stuff as far as you're aware?
- 1:08:22Speaker 1: And has it changed?
- 1:08:23Speaker 5: Well, I mean I think that major restaurant groups are
- 1:08:26Speaker 5: bought into buy private. I'm not going to name names,
- 1:08:28Speaker 5: but I think a lot of the larger conglomerates like
- 1:08:31Speaker 5: have larger investors. And again, I think the trend is that,
- 1:08:34Speaker 5: especially in New York where it is so inherently affordable,
- 1:08:36Speaker 5: like people like me that want to open a bar
- 1:08:38Speaker 5: or have wanted to my partner, my wife is well,
- 1:08:40Speaker 5: we wanted to together. It is not a viable dream
- 1:08:43Speaker 5: because a the rent is so high, and be those
- 1:08:45Speaker 5: who are able to pay it have the insurance of
- 1:08:47Speaker 5: like different backers from all over the place that you know.
- 1:08:50Speaker 1: They get their return no matter what. But say there
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: was in front of the money to do it. So
