- 0:13Now let's get to this week's show.
- 0:23My wallet is sobbing. I can hear it.
- 0:26I can hear it in the hall now. It is breaking down crying.
- 0:35It turns out that Attila the arrogant so and so he's got a
- 0:39fake hammer. Oh.
- 0:40A fake. Whoa.
- 0:42As I say, Dick. So welcome to episode 76.
- 0:54This is another one. Sounds rich because he has big
- 0:58cut in the back of his head and staples and the whole lot.
- 1:01You'll find out next week hopefully what what's happened
- 1:04to Rich when we do our cosmic legions predictions.
- 1:09Would that be fun, man? As I say, I've already started
- 1:12on reading the as people are going to hear in this episode.
- 1:17Reading the story had me clocking the names and what it
- 1:19had, the description, and thinking about what we might
- 1:22get. Exactly.
- 1:25So this week we have three of the latest horror stories that
- 1:29the wonderful Jeremy Gerard published on Source Horseman,
- 1:33and I believe he wrote them. So that's going to be fun.
- 1:36There's lots of different voices, there'll be sound
- 1:39effects, there'll be all sorts of fun stuff.
- 1:41Bit of ham voice acting. Bit of ham we're going to, we've
- 1:47already recorded that part, so there's going to be some strips
- 1:51that's involved, some chamomile tea and stuff to to cool down
- 1:56those vocal chords, man. Huh.
- 1:58Yeah, you know, it's typically as well my hay fevers playing up
- 2:02or I've got a bit of a cold one or other.
- 2:04So the voice is, yeah, you know, feeling it a bit.
- 2:07It's weird. It's weird.
- 2:09This time of the year, there's still hay fever going on, but
- 2:11the summer has just been so weird that I don't know what to
- 2:14make of it. Yeah, well, sunny, Sunny.
- 2:16Sunny. Rain, Rain, Rain, rain.
- 2:18Sunny. Sunny.
- 2:19It's like, well, suddenly. Perfect for hay fever.
- 2:21Yeah, suddenly the last couple of days, it having been a bit
- 2:24overcast and a bit wet, we've suddenly gotten a couple of
- 2:26really warm, sunny days again. It's nuts.
- 2:30Yeah, it's not. So how's your, how's your wallet
- 2:33been? Have you, have you been taken it
- 2:35easy on that credit card this month after the assault of last
- 2:39month? No.
- 2:39No, our credit card is absolutely been rinsed at the
- 2:42start of this month again before before it even paid off last
- 2:45month it was it's I don't know what was that.
- 2:48We we know in August that a new cosmic waves come in.
- 2:51And of course you're a cosmic guy.
- 2:54I am, I love cosmic and I'm becoming more and more in love
- 2:58with cosmic as I'm doing some custom paint jobs, either some
- 3:02of the stuff Rich has asked me to paint for him or some of the
- 3:05cosmic related heads that I have that I'm trying to get painted
- 3:09up for. Legions Con and the world is
- 3:12your oyster in Cosmic. You can just you can go
- 3:15anywhere, you know? Yeah.
- 3:17And I love Mythic as well, don't get me wrong, But there's a,
- 3:20there's a certain aesthetic depending on the type of head.
- 3:23I mean, we haven't quite gone there yet with Mythic where
- 3:26there is a lot of creatures. I hopefully think there's going
- 3:30to be more and more of that. But you know, Knights, yeah,
- 3:34there's a certain aesthetic for Knights, you know, elves,
- 3:37whatever. There's been a certain
- 3:39aesthetic. Even skeletons, but cosmic, you
- 3:42know, Well, I mean, big fish, fishy tentacle guy, you know,
- 3:48put him on a sentry, put him on a Traxion scout.
- 3:51When he comes out, put him on, you know, any sort of a body.
- 3:55It's going to work. This is it.
- 3:56There, isn't it? Riches cried out for his lizard
- 3:59men and his fishy creatures. So that would add a variety.
- 4:03But you're right. I mean, you see it when the Motu
- 4:06tributes are released or people talk about the Motu tributes,
- 4:11you know, even they get a bit more colourful and people like,
- 4:13oh, I'm not sure about that. It doesn't quite work for me.
- 4:16And whereas cosmic. It doesn't matter.
- 4:19Yeah, it's so good. That's one of the things, as I
- 4:21always say, I really like about it is all the colours and the
- 4:24DNA. And Jeremy has posted some
- 4:26pictures, Arnold, Joe Vasabolo, sorry, posted some pictures of a
- 4:31cosmic part swap that he did with the heavy gunner and I
- 4:35think Bardrick and Crotos. So again, staying in the orangey
- 4:39type round with the green of the heavy gunner and that looks
- 4:43awesome. Well.
- 4:45I'm again sketching around my my spares back here and I'm just
- 4:48going to have I got a Bard. I think I have a Bard, Rick.
- 4:50Oh, I've got a crow toss. Woo Hoo.
- 4:52They say, well conveniently I've got those parts in my bits box
- 4:56to beam like. I want to.
- 4:58Use them but yeah, just just poke them to the side there now
- 5:02and you know, keep them for keep them for cosmic that heavy
- 5:05gunner. I mean, I and I'm, I'm so I'm,
- 5:08I'm kind of happy that he's he's going to be coming in September
- 5:12where they're going to put him up for the in stock.
- 5:14So we'll have him before Legion's gone.
- 5:16So there's even a chance of maybe getting some of those.
- 5:19I mean, I know we have the parts, but you know those, those
- 5:22colors we could make you. We always say the factory parts
- 5:25are. Better, yeah.
- 5:28And you can use maybe some of those parts as part of a custom
- 5:31for Legion's gone or maybe to inspire some more custom heads
- 5:36that might go really with that color scheme.
- 5:39Because, yeah, you can put any head on the cosmic body almost.
- 5:42But it it sometimes works if the the head is this, you know,
- 5:47either completely contrasting, you know, opposite side of the
- 5:50color wheel maybe to the armor. That looks really cool.
- 5:54Sometimes if you have the same colour of the armor that works,
- 5:56although sometimes you can get a bit washed out.
- 5:58So it depends on the what you're doing, but it's always good to
- 6:01have it in hand and then you can stick your paint job on and go
- 6:04Oh yeah, maybe I need to put a wash on it or maybe I need to do
- 6:07something. So a.
- 6:09Lot I didn't think kebab to the time and I don't know if we come
- 6:12into the uneven, but I suppose the colors are quite their
- 6:15colors quite associated with Ireland as well, aren't they?
- 6:18Oh, they are, yeah, yeah, absolutely.
- 6:20Yeah. So, so that should be fun.
- 6:22And and if we yeah, if we get our some of our you know, we
- 6:28might do and not exclusive head scope for allegiance gone that
- 6:31we might be selling. And so, you know, mark that in
- 6:35your in your wallets and maybe we'll have a cosmic one that we
- 6:39could do a couple of painted off ones for the heavy gunner or so.
- 6:45So that's something to think about.
- 6:47But yeah, and my wallet has been reasonably OK.
- 6:52I'm loving those monster forces now is what I'm looking at a lot
- 6:58aside from legions. So that's something that hasn't
- 7:01quite been you know, there's there's been a couple of waves
- 7:03solicited and it's coming through big bad, fresh monkey
- 7:06fiction through big bad. I believe Chris Gorge might be
- 7:11happening with the production. I believe so he was definitely
- 7:14happening on the naughty and I stuff for fresh monkey fiction.
- 7:17So he must be helping them these and they look really cool for,
- 7:23you know, and a line that's also it's kind of outside of the
- 7:27legions round, but it has a lot of stuff that you could maybe
- 7:32kind of use in legions if you did with the customizing or you
- 7:35know, it just has that similar vibe to me, you know, that it's
- 7:38a kind of an independent toy maker that's doing cool stuff.
- 7:43So I'm excited to see what those, but I'm kind of happy
- 7:46that those waves are not out yet in terms of kind of I'm not
- 7:50going to go all in and I'm going to choose.
- 7:53But, and I know Rich is all in and he's currently crying about
- 7:58the fact, but every time they do a reveal or a tease, he's
- 8:01literally more or less. But we will make sure to, you
- 8:06know, keep him in the allegiance round as well, you know.
- 8:10Or we might just have to start doing a second podcast for a
- 8:13month to force right? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 8:17Or maybe, you know, as as time goes by, maybe we might need to
- 8:20alternate weeks or something. It'd be fun, fun thing to do
- 8:24occasionally depending, you know, there is ups and downs
- 8:26with stuff that's difficult to think about.
- 8:29But at the moment we're having fun with this.
- 8:31So you got more to get off your chest before we get right into
- 8:37the stories. No, I think that was everything.
- 8:40I think I mentioned Brutal Realms on the last one.
- 8:42I'm just what we're recording this a bit before it's going to
- 8:45be released, so I'm just still hanging on to see what they do
- 8:49in terms of releasing it to big bad for the international
- 8:53audience. We shall see.
- 8:55Very good and the reason we're recording this advance is
- 8:58because your Co host here, Mr. Caulfield, is off to Taylor
- 9:02Swift in Hamburg with these kids.
- 9:04Very nice, very nice. And also spend a few days around
- 9:07Hamburg, might look at where The Beatles used to play and get a
- 9:11fish that we were in Hamburg once before I went to see a
- 9:14football match, Hamburger against Byron when they were
- 9:16actually in the Bundesliga. It's been a 10 years ago.
- 9:19It was just before my first kid was born.
- 9:22And she's now eleven. Wow.
- 9:25And we went down the harbour on Sunday morning and we had a
- 9:28little baguette roll, like a little half a baguette with
- 9:34breaded fish, a bit of salad and a little bit of kind of not
- 9:38mayonnaise, but that kind of tartar sauce and the sea air
- 9:42blown in on top. Yes.
- 9:44You know, it's just absolutely perfect.
- 9:47Yeah. And we will most certainly be
- 9:49doing that again maybe more than once, if we can wait our way
- 9:53through the Swifties, because we're going to the second night.
- 9:55So the the first night we're we're going to be arriving in
- 9:58the city. So yeah, hopefully my kids mind
- 10:01is blown by the whole thing. Yeah, that should be fun.
- 10:04I'm sure it'd be fantastic. And it, it should be fun.
- 10:07Yeah. Yeah.
- 10:08In the big football stadium. What can go wrong?
- 10:10Nothing, in fact, apart from the fact that she plays for three
- 10:15hours. And you know, my, my 9 year old
- 10:17boy, he's, he's really into it. But I don't know if he's into it
- 10:20for three hours. We might have to bring a couple
- 10:25of sneaky bags of sweets in the back pocket to to keep him.
- 10:28And take his iPad in his console.
- 10:32Actually, probably no, I'm not that guy.
- 10:35No less screen time the better. You know, if he wants to lie on
- 10:38the floor, that's fine, but you know you're not having that
- 10:42screen. All righty.
- 10:44Well, let's let's get on with the stories.
- 10:47Enjoy that for this week. We will be back next week with
- 10:50the predictions, which is always our one of our most fun episodes
- 10:55and often one of our most popular in the cycle is when
- 10:58we're doing a predictions episode the week before a
- 11:01reveal. So get strapped in for that.
- 11:04In the meantime, hopefully Jeremy will drop a few hints so
- 11:07that we can be steered. He's dropped one hint obviously
- 11:11already with a little bit of a lore, which is in this in this
- 11:17podcast, but maybe he drops one or two more hints so that we
- 11:23don't make too much of A fool of ourselves, you know, start
- 11:26predicting, you know, vehicles and all sorts of stuff.
- 11:29Well, sorry, so far, so far, I'm predicting it, that's for sure.
- 11:35But, you know, I'm hoping that the either kind of pushes this
- 11:39one way or the other so that I can kind of, you know, pull my
- 11:42expectations in. So let's see more of those
- 11:45little scenery pieces though. That'd be, yeah.
- 11:48I reckon we will get that for sure and that'd be awesome.
- 11:52Absolutely. Well here we are.
- 11:54Two mythics, Legion story and the Cosmic Legion story.
- 11:56I'm not sure what order I'm going to put them in yet, so
- 11:59have fun finding out. Cheers.
- 12:08Corgan Ox Log entry 603.24 It has been just over 5 cycles
- 12:15since our ship, the Corgan Ox, crashed on the remote planet
- 12:18known as Thraxen. Six of us that survived had
- 12:21fallen into a good routine with each of us taking on specific
- 12:24roles as we work to communicate with X or three or really anyone
- 12:28in the vicinity of Thraxen so that we could facilitate a
- 12:31rescue. As the Ox's communications
- 12:34officer, that is my assignment to continue broadcasting our
- 12:38distress signal. We're also recording the
- 12:40day-to-day activities of our crew per X or three operating
- 12:43guidelines. Not sure what good these logs
- 12:46will be to anyone, but Veloc told me to keep recording,
- 12:50especially now our crew is being split apart.
- 12:52So that's what I'll do. Up until today, our crew had
- 12:56been spending the day supporting our camp and assuring there was
- 12:59no more unintended encounters with the planet's nature
- 13:02population after some pretty close.
- 13:04Calls with the. Thraxians and a herd of skate
- 13:06backs. It was nice to not have to worry
- 13:09about attacks on our camp. I hate to admit it, but I think
- 13:12the routine allowed us to let our guard down a bit.
- 13:16We had been so focused on the camp security in those early
- 13:19days after. The crash.
- 13:20There'd been so much activity with the thrack scenes that the
- 13:23relative quiet that followed allowed us to perhaps forget
- 13:26that we're in a hostile environment of which we still
- 13:29know so little. Today began like any other.
- 13:34Things very quickly took turn as two events broke our routine and
- 13:38changed everything we have known so far on planet Thraxen.
- 13:43First of these was an answer to our distress signal.
- 13:46The answer was garbled and very brief.
- 13:48But. Someone finally heard our call
- 13:51and they responded. I reported this to Veloc and
- 13:54Alaria immediately and we've been trying to re establish a
- 13:58connection with whomever out there had received our signal.
- 14:01The prospect of making connection with someone outside
- 14:04tracks and immediately sent our crew at camp into celebrations.
- 14:08But that mood quickly changed when two members of the crew did
- 14:10not report back from their recovery mission and there was
- 14:13no reply on their com units. Our science officer Thrayer and
- 14:17our demo expert. Orvar.
- 14:19Taking a trip to the main crash site for the ox.
- 14:23It is a trip we've. Made many times to retrieve
- 14:25additional bits of tech or supplies for our camp that they
- 14:29had left before. The reply to our signal came in
- 14:31and we immediately tried to mesh them to tell them the good news.
- 14:35There was no response from them, but we didn't get too concerned
- 14:38at first since it's often hard to communicate during the trek
- 14:41to the. Ox.
- 14:44As the day grew later and later began to get worried and that
- 14:48something had happened, Velux suited up and was ready to head
- 14:52out in search of the others when our range sensors began to
- 14:54register movement coming towards our camp.
- 14:57Something large, but it seemed to be a single object rather
- 15:00than the number of creatures moving towards us like we'd seen
- 15:03with the skate back Stampede. Veloc told us to be prepared,
- 15:06and he and Cog grabbed the few weapons we had available to wait
- 15:09for whatever was coming our way to say we were.
- 15:13Surprised, but what we saw driving.
- 15:15Towards us was an understatement.
- 15:17It was some kind of large Rover vehicle, possibly of Tusk
- 15:21origins, but obviously not something that was native to
- 15:24Thraxen. This.
- 15:27Could be our first encounter on this planet with the non-native
- 15:30life forms. To be honest, it was exciting to
- 15:33see this as it proved that others had landed on tracks in
- 15:36the past if there was a way onto the planet.
- 15:39Should also be a way off. Our excitement diminished once
- 15:43the strangers aboard this transport arrived at our camp
- 15:46and told us they had our missing crew members.
- 15:50The leaders of these strangers was an Atha Korean who
- 15:53introduced herself as Kern. Removing a large helmet, she
- 15:57explained that our fellow crew members had been attacked by a
- 16:00party of Thraxian hunters, but let her people had rescued them.
- 16:06We're obviously relieved to hear this, but our relief was short
- 16:08lived when Kern explained that they would only return our
- 16:11science officer in exchange for COG First.
- 16:15We weren't sure what was happening, but our visitors saw
- 16:18our confusion and it quickly explained the situation to us.
- 16:22They'd been observing our camp from afar, and they'd been
- 16:24watching each of us perform our daily duties.
- 16:27They needed a mechanic back at their own settlement, and they'd
- 16:30seen COG repairing various items.
- 16:33Basically, they were holding our science officer ransom in
- 16:36exchange for our mechanic, whose skills they said they needed for
- 16:40their own survival. As a show of good faith, Kearns
- 16:45two associates dragged the unconscious body of Ovar from
- 16:47the vehicle and dumped him at our feet.
- 16:51They sent Veloc into a rage and he moved to attack the visitors,
- 16:54but Kearns associates were fast and they had stun sticks in the
- 16:58hand. Veloc barely got moving before
- 17:00they both hit him with a ZAP and he went down hard.
- 17:04Thankfully, Ellaria stepped in before the situation could get
- 17:07any uglier. She asked where the COG would be
- 17:10allowed to return, along with our science officer once they
- 17:12were done with him. Strangers refused to elaborate
- 17:16any further, only explaining that they needed to set out
- 17:19before nightfall if they hoped to make it to where they were
- 17:22going. The road was dangerous, they
- 17:24said, and they needed to head out soon.
- 17:27Velak had recovered quickly from the stun sticks, and he refused
- 17:30the stranger's demands, but COG stepped forward and shook his
- 17:34big head. He said that he would go with
- 17:36the strangers and he'll bring Thrayer back.
- 17:40Bellock started to protest, but we could all see there was no
- 17:43change in Cog's mind. He's as stubborn as they come
- 17:47and as loyal to our crew as one could ask for.
- 17:51I imagine that he felt it was his duty to do what he could for
- 17:54a friend. Bellock eventually accepted
- 17:58Cog's plan, but he insisted that he be allowed to accompany the
- 18:01stranger as well. First, they refused the request,
- 18:06but Veloc argued that if he truly was dangerous out there,
- 18:10then he could help provide a measure of security.
- 18:12During the journey. Kern conferred with her two
- 18:15companions and eventually agreed to allow Veloc to come with
- 18:18them. It was hard to see Alaria and
- 18:23Veloc say goodbye to each other, clearly not sure if they would
- 18:25ever see each other again. Normally Larry would be right by
- 18:30her husband's side, but we needed her here at the camp to
- 18:33help make sure of I was OK and to assist me with coordinates
- 18:37should I be able to re establish a connection with our would be
- 18:39rescuers. We all have a job to do in Ox
- 18:43Crew and as hard as it may be to do sometimes, we'll do that job
- 18:47regardless of what it costs us personally.
- 18:51We saw the group off as they climbed aboard the stranger's
- 18:54vehicle. It rumbled away, kicking up dust
- 18:57as it speed off in the distance. It was out of sight within
- 19:00minutes and the sense of loss immediately swept over us as we
- 19:04wondered what the next cycles would bring.
- 19:07Having lost so much in the crash, 6 fish had grown even
- 19:11closer and now a group have been cut in half.
- 19:15Three of us remained here in camp and two had gone off to an
- 19:18uncertain fate to hopefully save another.
- 19:23As I sit here and record these events, our camp is silent.
- 19:27My com gear is also silent. Whoever connected with earlier
- 19:32has not responded to any of our signals since.
- 19:35I keep sending those signals though.
- 19:37That's my job. It's one thing that I can do to
- 19:40try and to help as we remain stuck here on planet Thraxen.
- 19:44I wish my friends luck. I expect that they will need it
- 19:48as they head out to an uncertain fate in what the strangers
- 19:50called the Harrow Zone distress signal.
- 19:55Hakes or vessel designation. Korgenops requesting immediate
- 19:58assistance. Current location equals
- 20:00fraction. Current status equals 6.
- 20:02Surviving crew members split across multiple locations
- 20:06ensuring current safety status. Native contact.
- 20:09Maid. Multiple species comb band reply
- 20:12requested. Immediate evacuation requested.
- 20:36The sacrifice of the Blue Shield.
- 20:39The old wizard bends down, leaning on his staff for support
- 20:43as he rifles through the rubble and ashes before him.
- 20:46A quick glance at the charred landscape that was once the
- 20:49Great Library of AG Bendor shows the devastation left in the wake
- 20:53of the Second Great War, but Joae knows that underneath the
- 20:56ruins of the library, there is much to be salvage.
- 21:00Not all has been lost to the machinations of the Dark Four
- 21:03and the Legions of the Dark, and the realm has already begun to
- 21:06rebuild. Shway never wished to be the
- 21:09Master of Records Rag Bendor, but it is a role that he has
- 21:13accepted, knowing that there are few others remaining in the
- 21:15Convocation who could reasonably hold this title.
- 21:19The fact that he is the head of the library, which no longer
- 21:22stands, is not lost on him, but that simply means that the task
- 21:26ahead of him is one of rebuilding rather than
- 21:28governance. He's an old man and he knows
- 21:32that this task will stretch beyond the years that he has
- 21:34left, but while he draws breath, this should be his sole focus.
- 21:41A gust of wind blows, kicking ashes into the air and forcing
- 21:44those working amongst the remains of AG Bendor to close
- 21:47their eyes and cover their faces.
- 21:49Juei pulls his voluminous hood over his head and waits for the
- 21:53winds to die down. Once they do, the old wizard can
- 21:57see a blue covered book that was hidden beneath the ash, which
- 22:00has now been uncovered. Shui reaches down and gently
- 22:04picks up the book, fearing that it may be damaged and wanting to
- 22:08ensure he does not damage it further by handling it.
- 22:11Thankfully, other than some charring along the edges of the
- 22:15cover, the volume looks to be intact.
- 22:18Shui wraps it in a cloth and places it into a satchel at his
- 22:21side. He's found many books like this
- 22:24amidst the Ashes of Bendor, volumes which survived the
- 22:27assault from the Circle of Poxus.
- 22:30They will be the foundation which the new library is built
- 22:33upon, the knowledge which will begin to grow until a Bender is
- 22:36restored to its former status as the Nexus of all learning in
- 22:40mythos. The new Master of Records is not
- 22:42a fool. He knows that the road ahead is
- 22:44long, and it will be many years before the lost knowledge of
- 22:47Ophidian can be recovered or rewritten.
- 22:50But that is the task at the head for the convocation.
- 22:53Shui leans back in his chair and tries to get comfortable.
- 22:57While the library in the Tower of Basilia were destroyed in the
- 23:00Circles attack and Ophidian, most of the buildings that
- 23:03made-up the Schools of Magic survive.
- 23:06Many of those buildings have been repurposed, and this one
- 23:09has become a refuge for the surviving members of the Order
- 23:12of the Learned, the Convocation's most accomplished
- 23:15masters, and what remains of the faction's leadership.
- 23:19What have you dare? A fellow learned master in the
- 23:22room actually, as he removes the blue covered volume from his
- 23:25bag. A book that survived the fire.
- 23:29The master of record replies as he opens to the first page and
- 23:34finally begins to examine the volume more closely.
- 23:36It seems to be Tales from the First Age, specifically those
- 23:40collected from what would become Leandor.
- 23:44Not the most useful histories from a purely magical
- 23:48perspective. The other master states.
- 23:51But any knowledge recovered has value at this point.
- 23:54Schwain nods as his company begins to pour a glass of red
- 23:57wine for himself. I see your bottles of Mercurian
- 24:00Red have miraculously survived the war, he muses.
- 24:04It is as if Vasilia herself protected them.
- 24:08The master answers. And thank goodness for that, for
- 24:12with Mercurius in even worse shape than Afidian, who knows
- 24:17when the next vintage will be. Can Ioffer you a glass?
- 24:21No. No.
- 24:22Shui says with a wave of his hand.
- 24:24Save it for yourself and for others who will enjoy it more
- 24:28than I do. Besides, I have a long night of
- 24:31reading ahead of me, so I will get to it as you wish.
- 24:34The master smiles, happy that he's not being forced to share
- 24:37from the rapidly dwindling supply of his favorite wine.
- 24:41Shui looks back to his book and begins to flip the pages.
- 24:45The other master exits the room, which Ray does not even notice
- 24:48as he quickly becomes engrossed in the recovered volume.
- 24:51He does find that the first few pages are a bit charred, but he
- 24:55can still read them, and the damage ends before the 1st tale
- 24:58contained in the book begins. It is a story he's familiar
- 25:01with, as are most of mythos, but which he has never read for
- 25:05himself. It is the story of Leander's
- 25:08fabled Blue Shield and the incredible sacrifice they made
- 25:11during the First Great War. Shui flips the page and begins
- 25:16to read. My name is William Tornshaw, and
- 25:20I'm making this record on the order of Sir Loric of the Blue
- 25:23Shield. I was assigned to the Blue
- 25:26Shield to serve as a Squire, but my skills as a chronicler were
- 25:30quickly discovered, and I was instead asked to document the
- 25:33events of the battles as I saw them.
- 25:36I will do this task dutifully and I hope that future.
- 25:38Generations are able to read my. Words and learn more about the
- 25:42troubled times we find ourselves in right now.
- 25:46As our name suggests, the Blue Shield has been tasked with
- 25:49providing protection for the rest of the army of the
- 25:52Odysseus. The Divine Mother has called all
- 25:55her children to her as we. Fight against the evil forces.
- 25:58That have risen up in our realm. Those forces are doing all in
- 26:02their power to prevent us from reaching the Mother, and the
- 26:05road has been fraught with danger.
- 26:08We've been attacked relentlessly by creatures that have become
- 26:11known as orcs, ogres, and trolls, but most of the attacks
- 26:15have come from those that have been called goblins.
- 26:19These goblins are the smallest. Of the creatures.
- 26:22That they have lined against us. But the number of them and the
- 26:25sheer ferocity of their attacks have been a horrible thing to
- 26:28bear witness to. I am not a knight, and I know
- 26:31now that my calling truly is behind a desk with a pen and
- 26:35paper rather than upon a battlefield with a sword and
- 26:38shield in my hands. I look at the brave Knights of
- 26:41the Blue Shield and I see a sense of courage and resolve
- 26:44that eludes me. They do not hesitate as our
- 26:46enemies fall upon us. They do not slow or fall back,
- 26:50but rather they push ahead, refusing to lose ground to our
- 26:53enemies. These nights which I have
- 26:55travelled with are everything I am not and all that I strive to
- 26:59be. Shui begins to flip through the
- 27:02pages of the book. Much of it is a detailed account
- 27:05of the Blue Shield's movements during the days of the First
- 27:07Great War. The author Wilhelm Tornshaw has
- 27:12done an admirable job of capturing the uncertainty of
- 27:14those early battles, back when the impure were new to mythos
- 27:19and the denizens of the realm were coming to terms with the
- 27:21horrors that they'd been set against them by the Dark Four's
- 27:24armies. The old wizard jorns a day on
- 27:28his feet, collecting whatever scraps of writing he could find,
- 27:31and directing others in the recovery efforts has left him
- 27:34more drain than he cares to admit.
- 27:37He knows he will only be able to keep sleep at Bay for a little
- 27:40while longer. And he now?
- 27:41Turns to look at the ending pages of the Blue Shield's tale
- 27:44and he knows this volume must include.
- 27:49He finds it and continues to read.
- 27:55Lee Odysseus has taken the rest of the army ahead towards the
- 27:58centre point of mythos. We are told that this is where
- 28:01the Great Mother awaits her children and where our combined
- 28:04forces will make stand against the evil creations of Helios.
- 28:09As for us, the Blue Shield will provide cover and ensure that
- 28:13the rest of the army can advance quickly and without harassment
- 28:17from our enemies. In the course of us providing
- 28:21protection to our forces, we've also discovered where the
- 28:24goblins are coming from and how they're able to move against us
- 28:27without us detecting their advances.
- 28:30They travel underground, using tunnels beneath our very feet to
- 28:34close the distance and ambush us when we least prepared.
- 28:38Unfortunately, this discovery has also made us realise that
- 28:42we've seen only a small portion of the goblins forces.
- 28:45We have greatly underestimated their numbers and we know now
- 28:48that we have had no chance to keep them at Bay for long.
- 28:52They will overwhelm us if they are allowed to keep coming and
- 28:55so our course of action is all but decided for us.
- 29:00The tunnels that the goblins have been using to hide their
- 29:02true numbers and launch their attacks on us have been part of
- 29:06their strength, but they can also be turned against them.
- 29:10This is what Solaric has said in the plans he has laid out.
- 29:15Our commander has proposed that we travel into the goblins
- 29:17tunnels to engage our enemy there.
- 29:21Furthermore, he has suggested no one cannot win against their
- 29:24superior numbers, that we will collapse the tunnels upon our
- 29:28enemies to strike a decisive blow to them.
- 29:31This should cut off their means of escape or ability to attack
- 29:35our advancing armies. It is a solid plan, but it's
- 29:39also one we must be accomplished from within The Cave structure
- 29:42itself, which means we will also be trapped in the collapse with
- 29:46our enemies. Sir Lauric has proposed this
- 29:50plan, which be the end of the Blue Shield, but which will
- 29:53hopefully afford the Odysseus and his forces the time to meet
- 29:57with other armies of the Great Mother.
- 29:59There are only a few dozen of us left at this point, and Sir
- 30:03Lauric asks every one of us individually if we wish to lay
- 30:06down our shield and walk away from this task.
- 30:10He said there was no shame in doing so, yet not one knight
- 30:14took this offer. Every man and woman in the Blue
- 30:16Shield proudly bowed the head to Sir Lauric and repeated their
- 30:20oath to defend the realm under the banner of the Great Lion.
- 30:25I write this count as my final entry.
- 30:28Sir Lauric sought me out and told me I was not expected to
- 30:31join the others for their task. He said that my job was to
- 30:34record these deeds for future generations so that they may
- 30:38know of the sacrifice of the Blue Shield and that I was free
- 30:41to carry this account away with me and make my way to the rest
- 30:44of our army. I will admit, I was relieved to
- 30:48be absolved of the responsibility of joining the
- 30:50Blue Shield in what is certain to be their final act of
- 30:53bravery. Still, as I write these words, I
- 30:56find myself unable to imagine not joining the others in this
- 30:59task. Regardless of the finality of
- 31:02this decision, I have stated clearly in this account that I
- 31:06am no knight. I barely even had time to be a
- 31:10Squire, but I am a member of the Blue Shield.
- 31:13If this final act is a blow that we can strike against our
- 31:17enemies, I will do so with sword and shield in my hands, along
- 31:21with those who fight for the future of Mythos.
- 31:24I will place this account where it will hopefully be found in
- 31:27time. It will be well outside the
- 31:29tunnels, so the collapse, if it is successful, will not bury it.
- 31:34If this account is found, Please remember us on what we do here
- 31:37this day. May the example of the Blue
- 31:40Shield give you the courage to do what must be done and the
- 31:43resolve to make even the greatest sacrifice for all that
- 31:47is right and good. We shall be the shield that
- 31:49defends the realm and the sword that smite the enemies who dare
- 31:52to stand against it. The next pages in the book are
- 31:55clearly written by another as the change in tone is
- 31:58unmistakable. This of volume is not the
- 32:01original one that Wilhelm Tornshaw carried with him during
- 32:04his travels with the Blue Shield.
- 32:05Rather, it is a. Retelling of this tale presented
- 32:08alongside additional details gathered after the end of the
- 32:10First Great War once the author's book was found.
- 32:14The identity of this next author is not mentioned.
- 32:17In the book. As their contribution is not as
- 32:20important as will Elms. But the final.
- 32:22Pages provide context to how this account impacts the realm
- 32:26even today. Schwe turns the page and
- 32:30continues to read. The account of the Blue Shield
- 32:34as presented in this volume has been transcribed in full from
- 32:38the original writings of Sir Wilhelm Tornshaw, a chronicler
- 32:42and former Squire who was given the rank of the Knight of
- 32:46Leander posthumously for his sacrifice and bravery during the
- 32:50First Great War. No changes have been made to the
- 32:54original text except for the spelling of Orcs and trolls to
- 32:59Orcs and Trolls, the latter being the accepted spelling of
- 33:04these races after the First Age. The Blue Shield's plan did
- 33:09indeed work as intended, and the Goblin's army's attacks were
- 33:14stopped when the tunnels they were using were collapsed.
- 33:17Sir Wilhelm Tornshaw's accounts do not detail how this class was
- 33:21achieved, and no definitive proof has arisen in time since
- 33:26to answer this question. Popular theory is that magical
- 33:30means were used to accomplish this task.
- 33:32While no evidence exists that the Blue Shield counted magic
- 33:36users amongst their ranks, there is also nothing to say that they
- 33:40did not. Calls to evacuate the area near
- 33:44where Sir Wilhelm's book was found have been resoundingly
- 33:47denied, as the heir is held as a place of honor and an act of
- 33:52burial sight for some of the realm's greatest heroes.
- 33:56The story of the Blue Shield is told throughout mythos, and as
- 33:59one would expect, it is most ardently revered within the
- 34:02Kingdom of Leandor, which was formerly by the soldiers who
- 34:06fought under the banner of the Great Lion.
- 34:09Today, the 2nd in command of that army is the lone soldier
- 34:13permitted to wear blue. This is done as a reminder of
- 34:16the Blue Shield sacrifice and acknowledgement of the
- 34:20willingness of the second in command to do whatever is
- 34:23necessary for the king and Kingdom.
- 34:25As for the goblins who provide the great threat center to this
- 34:28tale, their defeat was unfortunately not a final one.
- 34:32While the sacrifice of the Blue Shield prevented those goblins
- 34:35from taking part in the final battles of the First Great War,
- 34:39we know now that their kind retreated deeper into the
- 34:43subterranean passages, eventually making their way to
- 34:46the Graveyne Mountains to establish what would become Gob
- 34:50Hollow. The history of this impure race
- 34:53can be found in subsequent volumes, including The
- 34:56Malignancy of Gob Hollow and History of Mythos's Goblins by
- 35:01Master Scroll. Shui closes the book.
- 35:04The stories are familiar one, but reading the words of the
- 35:08original author has much more of an impact than the simple
- 35:11retellings of the tale. The new Master of Records for
- 35:15the Library of AG Bendor cannot help but see similarities in the
- 35:19heroic deeds of the Blue Shield and those of the Convocation
- 35:23members who stood against the circle of Pox's during the
- 35:26attack on Ophydian. Bravery in the face of much evil
- 35:31and such seemingly overwhelming gods is worthy of note.
- 35:34This has clearly been proven by the longevity of the Blue Shield
- 35:38story, many years after those soldiers had made their
- 35:41sacrifice. Shui is tired, but he knows his
- 35:45work for the night is not done. He places the book on the table
- 35:48beside him as he reaches for some parchment and writing
- 35:52implements. There are stories that must be
- 35:54told from this Mon nature mythos.
- 35:56Tales of the Second Great War and the heroes who fought in
- 36:00those battles. This is also part of his job and
- 36:03the Master of Records of Ephidium.
- 36:06Not only must he try to salvage what he can of the library's
- 36:08former knowledge, or work to replace what cannot be salvage,
- 36:12he must also begin the arduous process of writing the new
- 36:16stories of the realm. For those who will rule the
- 36:19mythos of tomorrow must know of the heroism, a sacrifice that
- 36:23helped win the Second Great War and which ended the rise of the
- 36:26Dark. 4 Shui dips his quill into an ink bottle and carefully
- 36:31presses it to the parchment before him.
- 36:33He begins to write. The Second Great War is over.
- 36:38The Legions of Light have won, and yet we have also lost so
- 36:42much. Those of us who remain now work
- 36:45to rebuild our shattered world. But to move forward, we must
- 36:49first record what has already come to pass.
- 36:53One by one, the Dark Four were called back to Mythos, from
- 36:56where they had been banished since the First Age of the
- 36:58realm. But as in that First Age, the
- 37:01Heroes of Light refused to cower to these great evils.
- 37:05We fought against Arathea and Lithia, Poxus and Necronominus.
- 37:10Let us look back now. For this should be an.
- 37:13Account of those battles and the story of the Rise of the Dark 4.
- 37:24The stand of the angels of Cyrus.
- 37:27Master Shui, you have some visitors.
- 37:29One of the junior Librarians that has been tasked with
- 37:32helping restore the volumes of AG, Ben Dorsay's The new Master
- 37:37of Records for Ophidian, is hard at work in his study recording
- 37:41tales of the Second Great War of Mythos.
- 37:43The recovery and restoration of books is going surprisingly well
- 37:47as the librarians dig deeper and deeper into the ashes of
- 37:49Agbendur. As such, Zwey has recently spent
- 37:52much of his time adding new stories and knowledge to the
- 37:55library that is being built to replace what was lost in the
- 37:58Circle of Pox's attack on Ophidian.
- 38:01See them in. Shui says as he puts down this
- 38:04quilt and looks up from his work.
- 38:07A shadow falls across the room as a massive form blocks the
- 38:10doorway to Jerry's study. A towering presence stands in
- 38:14the entrance before ducking down to clears the doors frame.
- 38:18Shui stands up as a massive worrying clad in pearlescent
- 38:21armour enters the room. The top of his great helmet
- 38:25nearly touches the ceiling, and the giant form looks like a
- 38:28cathedral that has come to life before the old wizard's eyes.
- 38:32A night clad in the unmistakable tunic of Etheron's Templars
- 38:36steps from behind his gigantic companion and bows to Jway.
- 38:40Good. Day, Master Librarian.
- 38:42The Templar says. My name is Sir Elijah of the
- 38:46Templar Emissaries. My companion is Sir of Jack,
- 38:50Paladin of Etheron. We come on your behalf to the
- 38:53Crown City with an offering to rebuild your great library with
- 38:58these. Words.
- 38:59The giant paladin reaches out a massive armoured hand, offering
- 39:03up a large parcel tied neatly with the golden roof.
- 39:06What is it? Zwei asks as Sir Ukchak gently
- 39:09places the parcel down on the table before them.
- 39:12These are volumes of our history taken from our own archives.
- 39:17Sir, Elijah replies. They are precious to the Order
- 39:21of Etheron, but we know that they will be well cared for here
- 39:25in Orfidian. The Crown City recognizes the
- 39:30Great Lost, the Convocation sustained during the war, and we
- 39:34wish to do our part to help you rebuild.
- 39:38That is most generous of you. Sway replies with a smile.
- 39:42Please offer our gratitude to the Crown City.
- 39:46We shall as soon as we return. Sir, Elijah answers.
- 39:50But that may not be for some time yet, for in addition to the
- 39:54gift of the volumes we bring, we are here to offer our services
- 39:59to your cause. Dre cannot hide his surprise of
- 40:02that last statement, and the Templar continues.
- 40:05As an emissary, Mass deed and myself are at your disposal to
- 40:10convey any messages you may need to deliver.
- 40:14I am aware that you have magical means of communicating, of
- 40:19course, but with the Convocations powers as stretched
- 40:22as they are, the Crown City felt that mass services could prove
- 40:26helpful in certain instances. Rest assured, I am fluent in all
- 40:31commonly spoken tongues and should have no problem
- 40:34delivering any messages you may have.
- 40:38That is good indeed. Shrey Notz.
- 40:41This will be helpful for us and your large companion here.
- 40:45Is he here to accompany you as you deliver these messages?
- 40:49Sir Jack is here to lend his strength to rebuilding efforts
- 40:54once again. You may have the magical means
- 40:58to move heavy stones and debris as you rebuild the great
- 41:01library, but you will not find a harder, more dedicated worker
- 41:06than he, and I would wager he can haul more.
- 41:10With his back. Then even the finest witch, our
- 41:13wizard, could move through spells.
- 41:15The giant paladin nods his head as he places his hands together
- 41:18in a gesture of supplication and bows to the old wizard.
- 41:22I help you. A deep voice says from behind
- 41:25the great helmet and Shui returns the bow.
- 41:28Thank you both. The master of record says before
- 41:31calling back the junior librarian.
- 41:33Please see that our friends are attended to and given proper
- 41:38accommodations. They will be with us for a while
- 41:41and will join our rebuilding efforts.
- 41:44The junior librarian nods and hurries from the room.
- 41:47If you would follow my young friend, he will get you all set.
- 41:52Thank you again for your vows of service and of course for your
- 41:56gift of these volumes. I assure you they will indeed be
- 42:00well cared for and will make welcome addition to our new
- 42:05library. It has been an eventful day for
- 42:07Jway, and he can feel his eyes growing weary as he puts away
- 42:11his quill and scrolls. His assistants have prepared his
- 42:14meal and some mint tea and the wait for him in his room.
- 42:19No doubt both the food and the tea have grown cold by this
- 42:21point, but Jway does not mind. Food is a matter of necessity
- 42:25rather than comfort for the old wizard, and so long as it
- 42:28provides his body of what he needs to continue his work, he
- 42:31finds that he has very little to complain about.
- 42:34As Jway rises from his writing desk, he looks again at the
- 42:38large parcel of books from Etheros.
- 42:40He's had them sorted, and they've temporarily been placed
- 42:43on a bookshelf for him to review and decide how they should be
- 42:46catalogued in the new library. Jway selects one of the books
- 42:51and takes it. With him to his chambers.
- 42:53He needs to personally examine the volumes before they add to
- 42:57the permanent collection and he figures now is as good as time
- 43:00as they need to begin the task. Sitting down in his chair he
- 43:05takes a drink of cold tea and opens the book.
- 43:08It is a fairly nondescript edition with very little in the
- 43:10way of decoration on the books cover or pages.
- 43:13He has visited the library of the Temple of Ethron before and
- 43:17he knows that many of their books are quite lavishly
- 43:19illuminated, so this volumes plainness it's of interest to
- 43:23him from the start. Recollections and Prayers from
- 43:27the First Great War of Mythos. Title is written simply on the
- 43:311st interior page of the book. No author is listed beneath the
- 43:34title as you're expects it to be one of many volumes from shortly
- 43:38after the First Great War that gathers together various stories
- 43:42and information from the First Age of the Realm.
- 43:45Each of the four factions that the Legions of Light have
- 43:47volumes like this. Many of them are written by
- 43:50scribes whose names have been lost to time.
- 43:53The stories they relate are all that truly matters, and as such,
- 43:57they're all that remains. Shui turns to the first tale in
- 44:02the book and reads the title The Stand of the Angels of Cyrus.
- 44:07He's immediately intrigued. The angelic beings of the
- 44:11Celestial City of Cyrus are a topic he knows very little
- 44:14about. You and Mythos know much about
- 44:16these angelic beings, in fact, for their presence has long been
- 44:19a mysterious curiosity amongst the rest of Mythos.
- 44:23Shui begins to read. The.
- 44:26Angels of Cyrus descended from their city in the clouds during
- 44:30the later days of the war against Helios and his dark
- 44:34minions. As the heavens opened, we saw
- 44:37these perfect. Beans fly down upon feathered
- 44:40wings. The glory of their presence was
- 44:43seen in their likeness and in their armour that they wore, for
- 44:47both seemed to glow with the radiance that told of their
- 44:50celestial. Lineage.
- 44:53The angels were commanded forth by one called Iosef.
- 44:57Behind him formed a battalion he named the Golden Spear.
- 45:02The angelic army was numerous, and as we looked upon their
- 45:06glory, our hearts leapt with joy and a renewed sense of hope came
- 45:11over us. On the battlefront.
- 45:15Our forces were being led by the Crowned Eagle, with Sir Gregory
- 45:19on the ground at the front of our army.
- 45:22Our faith was strong, but the enemy we faced was terrible.
- 45:27Iosif and the Angels of the Golden Spear spread their golden
- 45:31wings and made for the front. There they confronted the most
- 45:36terrible of all our enemies, a Reaper in black robes that has
- 45:41come to be known as the Harvester.
- 45:44There is an undeniable terror in confronting Death itself, and
- 45:49our enemy's forces were indeed Death given a natural life once
- 45:54again. The Harvester, however, was even
- 45:57more terrible than the rest of our foes.
- 46:01While the rest of his undead army fought with a kind of
- 46:04mindless push towards Death, the Harvester seemed to relish his
- 46:09work. Seemingly blind due to the bones
- 46:12fused over where his eyes would be, the Harvester still had no
- 46:17trouble seeing the victims before him.
- 46:20He find joy in the fields of soldiers which he reaps,
- 46:25creating a blanket of corpses for his master.
- 46:29I am ashamed to admit that the sight of this unholy creature
- 46:33was enough to cause myself and many within our ranks to
- 46:37question our convictions and wish to be anywhere but on that
- 46:40battlefield against this monster.
- 46:43O Etherum, praise thy light and protect me from this evil which
- 46:47I face. Iosif and his angels showed no
- 46:51such fear. They confronted the Harvester
- 46:54immediately upon entering this battle, and our hearts did
- 46:57indeed leap with joy and hope. That joy was short lived, for
- 47:02the Harvester was not to be stopped.
- 47:04The first Angel to encounter Necronominus's Reaper was also
- 47:08the 1st to fall. His armour proved no match as
- 47:12the harvester swung his scythe wide, cleaving through the
- 47:16angels breastplate and smiling as the celestial being rushed
- 47:20lifelessly to the dirt and grime of the blood soaked battlefield.
- 47:26Another Angel thrust a spear towards the Harvester, and the
- 47:29tip tore through the Reapers black robes, but the blow did
- 47:33nothing to slow him down. The Harvester reached ahead with
- 47:38an hourglass, swimming with souls of his victims, and the
- 47:42Angel fell to its knees, clutching its throat as the life
- 47:47was drawn out of its body and into the hourglass. 1 by 1 the
- 47:53angels of Cirrus fell. Divine and powerful they were,
- 47:58and yet they could do nothing to slow the advance of the
- 48:01Harvester. They were little more than a
- 48:04momentary nuisance to him, and our forces began to weep for
- 48:08what we had lost. And still the situation was
- 48:13about to grow worse. For there is a fate more
- 48:16terrible than death, when death is not the natural end of one's
- 48:20life, but rather a prolonged state of being.
- 48:24The Harvester stood amidst the bodies of the fallen angels of
- 48:27Cyrus as his master, Necronominus himself rode
- 48:32forward upon his skeletal steed. The clapping of the horse's
- 48:36soothes seemed to echo across the battlefield like bells
- 48:40tolling on the Thunder of a coming storm announcing its
- 48:44arrival. Raising his weapon, the God
- 48:48Raiser above his head, Necronominus began to sing a
- 48:52chilling hymn, the sounds somehow emanating from him
- 48:56within the bones of his hollow. Chest.
- 49:00There is no natural way that the dead can sing, and yet sing he
- 49:04did, and it was terrible. The God Raiser began to glow as
- 49:10a green and yellow haze trailed down like tendrils towards the
- 49:13fallen bodies at the harvester's feet.
- 49:17The mist enveloped those bodies as the Lord of Death continued
- 49:21his song and the dead began to stir.
- 49:24Unnatural life entered their bodies, and their forces watched
- 49:28in horror as the flesh of the angels slowly melted away,
- 49:32revealing golden bones and eyeless skulls that peered out
- 49:36from behind the face plates of their angelic armour.
- 49:40These golden skeletons began to rise, still possessing their
- 49:45feathered wings as a mockery of the celestial beings they once
- 49:49were. The golden light of Cyrus was
- 49:52gone from those wings, however, and the greenish shoe had begun
- 49:56to seep out of the feathers, almost as if life itself was
- 50:00being drained from them. Rise, children of the.
- 50:06Clouds, Yacronominus commanded. Upon my altar you now pray.
- 50:12Bring me death, for this is the end of time.
- 50:17And to the cold nothing. We shall be this block.
- 50:24The last of the angels, Cirrus, was their commander, Iosif.
- 50:28To his credit, he did not waver in the face of certain doom.
- 50:33And he beat. His wings to now confront not
- 50:36only the Harvester and his unholy master, but also a
- 50:39battalion of undead angels who once fought by his side.
- 50:44Iosef knew his end was near, and yet he fought even then.
- 50:49Praise be to the brave and the righteous, for in their example
- 50:53shall we find the path to victory.
- 50:56The angelic warrior was joined by the crowned Eagle and Sir
- 50:59Gregory, the man who would in time become the 1st to brandish
- 51:04the Heaven's Brand Sword and take that name as his own.
- 51:08Together they faced the unstoppable evil, and they
- 51:12stopped it, for the light of Etheron shone brightly on this
- 51:16day, and not even the blackness of the grave or the cold grip of
- 51:21death could diminish the great light.
- 51:24Etheron be praised, For in your name and in the name of the
- 51:28Great Mother do we fight. In the end, Iosif defeated the
- 51:33Harvester, beating his large wings against the Reaper to
- 51:37confuse him. The Angel aimed not to injure a
- 51:40being who had thus far proven impervious to physical damage,
- 51:44but rather to separate him from his tools of power.
- 51:47Snatching the scythe and the hourglass from the Harvester's
- 51:50hands, he flew away as a horrible whale emerged from the
- 51:54monster. It was the only sound the silent
- 51:58Harvester had made on this day, and all who heard that whale
- 52:02fell to their knees, covering their ears as tears of blood
- 52:06poured from their eyes. Ether on.
- 52:09Shield us and let us not hear Evil's voice or know it speak.
- 52:16The whale affected Iosef as well, and he began to stumble,
- 52:20but he refused to drop what he had taken.
- 52:23Pushing the terror away, the Angel flew high and far to where
- 52:28the Harvester could not follow. A score of Tupercula gave chase,
- 52:33but their vestigial wings were no match for those of Iosif, and
- 52:37he quickly pulled away from his enemies and made his escape,
- 52:42dropping the scythe and the hourglass into the deep waters
- 52:46off the shores of what is now known as Etheros.
- 52:49Iosif immediately raced back to the battlefield.
- 52:54By the time he returned, the battle was all but finished, the
- 52:58diseased 1 Poxus had been banished along with many of his
- 53:02minions, and the other dark powers would soon follow.
- 53:06Great Mother be praised, and may the legions of Light live long.
- 53:13So it is written here in this account that the angels of Cyrus
- 53:17gave their lives in defence of our realm.
- 53:20The angels are now only a memory of our.
- 53:23Past. And Cyrus has remained silent
- 53:26and unknown to US ever since. O angels of Cyrus, we pray for
- 53:32you and honour your sacrifice in our name and in the name of
- 53:36Etheron. May his light guide thee home,
- 53:39and cast out the darkness of death.
- 53:42So it is written. Praise be for all days that thus
- 53:47remain. Shui closes the book and sits
- 53:54silently for a time. He considers the parallels
- 53:57between the battles of the First Great War and the losses that
- 54:00the Legions of Light sustained in the latest battles to save
- 54:03the realm. The more he reads of the past,
- 54:06the more he realizes the importance, recording the
- 54:09stories of the Second Great War for future generations to learn
- 54:12from. The old wizard rises from his
- 54:15seat and finishes his tea. It is late, but he feels renewed
- 54:19vigor in his bones, and he knows there will be no sleep for him
- 54:23this night, for there is much work to be done.
- 54:26Returning to his study, Shui opens a new scroll and dips a
- 54:29quill in something. He knows which story he will
- 54:32record next, for it is one he has thus far been hesitant to
- 54:36commit to words. The fall of Ophidian and the
- 54:38burning of the Great Library of AG Bendor.
- 54:40He begins to write The Circle of Epoxys attack on the Tower of
- 54:45Basilia. Came when we.
- 54:46Least expected it. We should have been prepared for
- 54:49such an assault, yet for all our knowledge and years of study we
- 54:53did not see the signs, nor did we understand the true scope of
- 54:57the power which are only brought to bear against us.
- 55:00In the end. It was one of Poxy's own who
- 55:03saved us from total destruction, a necromancer whom the diseased
- 55:07one called forth in the first Age of the realm for her powers,
- 55:11her fearlessness, and her commitment to our convocation.
- 55:15Alongside the spirits of the learned who once ruined the
- 55:18dusty corridors of Ophidian were our salvation on this fateful
- 55:22day. This is the story of how the
- 55:25Convocation of Basilia was nearly destroyed, and how, like
- 55:28the great fiery phoenix of legend, we rose from the ashes
- 55:32of our Bendor to the dawn of a new day.
- 55:35So begins this tale. Music.
