- 0:47Speaker 1: Welcome to today's edition of Reflection on the Word with
- 0:50Speaker 1: Richard K. I'm Chuck Christie, and today we are asking
- 0:54Speaker 1: you to spend a few moments of your time with
- 0:56Speaker 1: us each day as Richard shares from God's work with notes, quotes,
- 0:59Speaker 1: and story along with some of his own personal experiences,
- 1:02Speaker 1: to confirm for you God's great love for us, that
- 1:05Speaker 1: his compassion for us never fails, and that He has
- 1:08Speaker 1: a great faithfulness toward us in every regard. Now, if
- 1:11Speaker 1: you miss a portion of today's broadcast or would like
- 1:13Speaker 1: to recommend it to a friend, you can hear this
- 1:16Speaker 1: program anytime online at Talknetwork Radio dot com. Well, now
- 1:21Speaker 1: here's Richard with today's reflection.
- 1:24Speaker 2: For as the body is one and has many parts,
- 1:29Speaker 2: and all the parts of that body, though many, are
- 1:32Speaker 2: one body, so also is Christ. For we were all
- 1:37Speaker 2: baptized by one spirit into one body, whether Jews or gentile,
- 1:44Speaker 2: whether slaves are free, and we were all made to
- 1:47Speaker 2: drink of one spirit. So the body is not one
- 1:51Speaker 2: part but many. If the foot should say, because I
- 1:55Speaker 2: am not a hand, I don't belong to the body,
- 1:58Speaker 2: in spite of this, it still belongs to the body.
- 2:02Speaker 2: And if the ear should say, because I am not
- 2:05Speaker 2: an eye, I don't belong to the body. In spite
- 2:09Speaker 2: of this, it still belongs to the body. If the
- 2:13Speaker 2: whole body were an eye, where would the hearing be?
- 2:17Speaker 2: If the whole were an ear, where would be the
- 2:19Speaker 2: sense of smell? But now God has placed the parts,
- 2:24Speaker 2: each one of them in the body, just as he wanted.
- 2:29Speaker 2: And if they were all the same part, where would
- 2:34Speaker 2: the body be? Now there are many parts, yet one
- 2:40Speaker 2: body that is First Corinthian Chapter twelve, Verses twelve through twenty.
- 2:51Speaker 2: We began our study of the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
- 2:56Speaker 2: Yesterday I gave you not only one of those defined gifts.
- 3:02Speaker 2: As we spoke about the gift of the Word of knowledge.
- 3:07Speaker 2: When we talked about knowledge, we were not talking about
- 3:11Speaker 2: natural or learned knowledge. We were talking about supernatural revelation
- 3:18Speaker 2: by the Holy Spirit. This knowledge glorifies God and ultimately
- 3:25Speaker 2: will bring glory to Him by adding to his kingdom.
- 3:31Speaker 2: Believers come because they recognize the supernatural power of the
- 3:40Speaker 2: Lord Jesus Christ operating by the Holy Spirit in believers.
- 3:47Speaker 2: Today we looked at the gift of knowledge, the gift
- 3:52Speaker 2: of knowledge and the gift of the Word of wisdom
- 3:57Speaker 2: sometimes work almost hand and in hand, if you will,
- 4:02Speaker 2: because there's one thing to have the knowledge that there's
- 4:06Speaker 2: another thing to have, the supernatural wisdom as to how
- 4:11Speaker 2: to use it to bring glory to God.
- 4:15Speaker 3: It is not a toy. The gifts of the Holy
- 4:18Speaker 3: Spirit are not given so that we can use them
- 4:24Speaker 3: to amuse others. This is given to edify build up
- 4:30Speaker 3: the body of Christ. Now I want to speak about
- 4:35Speaker 3: one of the gifts that are listed in the Nine
- 4:39Speaker 3: Gifts of the Holy Spirit, and that is the gift
- 4:45Speaker 3: of faith. It says to another is given the gift
- 4:50Speaker 3: of faith by the same spirit. Think about this for
- 4:56Speaker 3: just a moment. There are times in our life when
- 5:01Speaker 3: we need to stretch out and reach for something we
- 5:06Speaker 3: can't see. It's not just a hope, and it's not
- 5:11Speaker 3: just a dream. It is a reality, but we need
- 5:17Speaker 3: to bring it into our reality and existence so that
- 5:23Speaker 3: it glorifies God. The gift of faith is given to
- 5:29Speaker 3: believers who will step out and will speak for God
- 5:37Speaker 3: about a given situation for others. And I'll give you
- 5:44Speaker 3: an example. When someone within your community is ill, regardless
- 5:51Speaker 3: of what may be the situation, you can pray for
- 5:55Speaker 3: that individual and you should there are ways that we
- 6:01Speaker 3: can pray that make an extreme difference in the life
- 6:07Speaker 3: of those we pray for. James says that the effectual,
- 6:13Speaker 3: fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. It carries
- 6:21Speaker 3: tremendous emphasis. Why because that prayer requires more than just
- 6:29Speaker 3: natural ability. It requires the gift of the Holy Spirit,
- 6:36Speaker 3: whichever ones that the Holy Spirit chooses to use to
- 6:41Speaker 3: bring glory to his name. For the person who needs healing,
- 6:48Speaker 3: there are those within the body that have been able
- 6:53Speaker 3: to demonstrate the gifts of healing. There are many types
- 7:00Speaker 3: of healing. There are miraculous healings, and there are gifts
- 7:06Speaker 3: of miracles. But there are also healings of a natural form,
- 7:13Speaker 3: but they are supernaturally rendered. What do I mean by that?
- 7:19Speaker 3: There are times when it looks as if everything is
- 7:24Speaker 3: going to go in the other direction as far as
- 7:29Speaker 3: an individual's health. They may be experiencing a prognosis by
- 7:36Speaker 3: a physician that says to them there is nothing more
- 7:42Speaker 3: we can do. When they hear those words, they can
- 7:47Speaker 3: lose hope. They need someone to come who can demonstrate
- 7:53Speaker 3: this supernatural gift of faith which will encourage them, lift
- 7:59Speaker 3: them up and not just give them a pat on
- 8:03Speaker 3: the back, but actually show them God's plan for their
- 8:09Speaker 3: own life. This gift of faith is demonstrated in many ways,
- 8:17Speaker 3: along with the other gifts we've mentioned, the gift of
- 8:22Speaker 3: the Word of knowledge, the gift of the Word of wisdom,
- 8:26Speaker 3: and the gift of faith. These can all work in
- 8:31Speaker 3: unison together. They don't have to work through the same individual.
- 8:37Speaker 3: They could work through the same individual depending on how
- 8:42Speaker 3: the Holy Spirit wills You see, the gifts of the
- 8:47Speaker 3: Holy Spirit will benefit the body. But more than just
- 8:54Speaker 3: benefit the body. The body will be benefited because of
- 9:00Speaker 3: others who don't know Jesus will come to know his reality.
- 9:06Speaker 3: They'll know him as a living, vibrant Lord. They'll know
- 9:13Speaker 3: him because of the power of the Holy Spirit demonstrated
- 9:20Speaker 3: in you and I as his followers.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Richard will be right back in a moment to wrap up.
- 9:29Speaker 1: But if you've just joined us, you've been listening to

- 10:06Speaker 1: and printed by Discovery House Publishers. Again, here is Richard
- 10:10Speaker 1: to wrap up today's message.
- 10:14Speaker 3: When Jesus said, all authority has been given to me
- 10:19Speaker 3: in heaven and on earth. Now you go and make
- 10:26Speaker 3: disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of
- 10:33Speaker 3: the Father and the name of the Son, and the
- 10:37Speaker 3: name of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything
- 10:45Speaker 3: I have commanded you, and lo I will be with
- 10:52Speaker 3: you always, even to the end of the age. The
- 10:58Speaker 3: Great Commission was demonstrated in early believers and is still
- 11:05Speaker 3: demonstrated in believers today throughout the world. The gifts of
- 11:12Speaker 3: the Holy Spirit are present and operating fully in the
- 11:18Speaker 3: Body of Christ. The question is is it operating in
- 11:24Speaker 3: our lives to bring glory to God? And that is
- 11:30Speaker 3: today's reflection on the Word.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Thank you, Richard. Join us again tomorrow when we continue
- 11:37Speaker 1: with the next edition of Reflections on the work with
