- 0:00Tanya, Michigan are crooks.
- 0:03LSU are crooks. The SEC are crooks.
- 0:08The NCAA are crooks. But thank God
- 0:11for Paulie Martin. We're The Regulars. I'm Cody Decker. I'm Tanya
- 0:16Ray Fox. And no matter what we say today, I just— I need everyone to
- 0:19know I still think LeBron James is the GOAT. Let's do this, Cody.
- 0:23He was.
- 0:32Someone may or may not have— I'm not gonna say who. Yeah,
- 0:36it's one of us. Could have been me, could have been Mocha. Yeah, could have
- 0:39been any one of the tens of twenties of thousands of people that are watching
- 0:42our show live in our studio. But someone
- 0:46here took a bong rip. No idea who could have been. I guess we'll
- 0:51find out. You guys need to tune in to find that out. But here's the
- 0:54deal. Um, Tanya, I feel good about our cold
- 0:58open because holy shit, I, I know we
- 1:02normally shoot the shit when we start the show. How was your weekend? How was
- 1:05your weekend? Yada yada yada. NFL back this week.
- 1:10You know, you're not— that's not the vibe for you. I'm not gonna
- 1:14lie to you. Yeah, I, um, I'm not feeling great.
- 1:17No, it's not that I'm not feeling great. It's actually one of the few times
- 1:21that I actually need you. Because there were— no, no, no.
- 1:24A few times. No, no. Well, I always need you, but like, this is the
- 1:28time where I need you because I don't understand. Yeah.
- 1:31Yeah. And I feel like you generally understand things and you don't need me to
- 1:35explain them to you. No. This particular situation, I got to freely admit, I've,
- 1:39I've looked at it backwards, forwards. I've read every statute that
- 1:43I can find in the law as far as I can understand. And I have
- 1:47to say, everything that's taking place with the NCAA, LSU, in the
- 1:50SEC, legitimately has gotten so convoluted
- 1:55and nonsensical. Yeah, that I don't know what, what is up,
- 1:59what is down. I feel like I'm being gaslit, and I feel like I'm,
- 2:02I'm insane. Because here's the thing, we talked about this
- 2:06on Friday, I am like, actually, I hate the fact that I'm borderline
- 2:10signing with Lane Kiffin considering the situation. We all— we don't like that. Neither one
- 2:14of us is happy with that. Fucking despise it. But also Fuck
- 2:18the NCAA and definitely fuck the SEC. But this court
- 2:22injunction to the amendment that the SEC is trying to put in to
- 2:26the standing on whatever fucking ground fucking
- 2:30LSU and Lane Kiffin standing on, which is equally weird
- 2:34to me at this point. I have to say, dude,
- 2:38I don't know who's right, but I fucking hate everyone.
- 2:42Yeah, well, it's interesting because before we like get into the show, I think
- 2:46there's like this overarching vibe to the show that I actually
- 2:50saw Pablo Torre talk about on someone else's podcast today in a clip on TikTok
- 2:54where he was saying like the, the sports fandom is not this like
- 2:58inelastic, like sort of renewable resource.
- 3:03Yeah. And that like between private equity and these decisions that
- 3:07are happening and pushing fans too far and all the ways that
- 3:10we've talked about and we'll continue to that we are potentially
- 3:14approaching a, like, bubble bursting with the only final bit of, of,
- 3:18like, zeitgeist we have left. This is the last bit of,
- 3:21like, of universal sort
- 3:25of we all sit down and watch and experience something live that we have left.
- 3:29And, you know, owners and these leagues
- 3:32are— and, you know, the NCAA and all of these institutions
- 3:37are— feel like they're too big to fail. And if, if millennials know nothing
- 3:41else. We know that there is no industry that is
- 3:45too big to fail. There isn't one, even sports. And so part
- 3:50of that feels like that whole thing feels— and it was after I'd built our
- 3:53rundown and I watched that, and I'm like, that's kind of the vibe of our
- 3:56show today. It's like, I think, I think we're getting to that place
- 3:59where we might be, we might be near a bubble bursting.
- 4:03It's actually funny you say that. I'm, I'm actually feeling this in a lot
- 4:06of aspects, not just the NCAA, because I agree with you on the NCAA front.
- 4:10It really does feel like a bubble. This is in regards to sports But no,
- 4:13I'm glad you're saying that because here's where like my big red flags
- 4:16were happening. It's not even the NCAA. They're just kind of like an added— like,
- 4:21like, like if we're making a wonderful dish right
- 4:25now, it's just an ingredient. Yeah. Where I'm really getting this
- 4:29more than anywhere else has been the NBA and the Major
- 4:33League Baseball, basically team evaluations and what's been
- 4:37taking place as of late. Like teams that have been tanked and destroyed, like the
- 4:41Anaheim Angels, who all of a sudden just sold for $4 billion.
- 4:45$4 billion. It was bought for $125 million in
- 4:482003. $4 billion for the worst
- 4:52team in Major League Baseball. That's bubble level stuff. I really feel
- 4:56like the valuation is not matching the revenue. And like,
- 5:00there's no— to Pablo's point, there's no other
- 5:03industry where you can get that level of valuation for
- 5:07that level of revenue. And we're watching it with the NBA, especially with the Mark
- 5:10Walter investigation because everything that's coming out of that— like, he bought the Lakers
- 5:14for $10 billion, which was outrageous because they were
- 5:17just valued at $7.3 billion. And this was like 4 weeks
- 5:21after the Boston Celtics sold for like $6.5
- 5:25billion. It makes no sense. But they sold like 2 weeks later
- 5:29for $10 billion, and then he flips it 1 year later for $12.5
- 5:33billion. Like, all of this seems like the biggest
- 5:37house of cards that has now— but here's the thing, it wasn't
- 5:41one. And it feels like in the last 5 years very specifically,
- 5:45it's turned into this massive shell game where it's on
- 5:49the verge of collapse because this is all bullshit.
- 5:53Yeah, it's all bad. Um, and we're gonna get into several aspects
- 5:57of it, all different aspects across leagues. And, um, also like,
- 6:01this is not to be— I don't want to be too nihilistic because like You
- 6:04and I love sports. We're going to keep watching sports. We're going to— but like,
- 6:06and there are ways out of this. It's— but they're
- 6:10going to apply. It's the same way that's going to apply to everything else in
- 6:12our country, which is a lot like a whole
- 6:16shift in the capitalist structure. And that's what's nerve-wracking.
- 6:19And it's crazy because I actually— correct me if I'm wrong,
- 6:22we're both, you know, come on, listen, we're both kind of like raging liberals
- 6:26on the left. Yeah, but it really feels like we're like hitting some
- 6:29weird precipice. This, where like it feels like the 1980s,
- 6:33like anti-Reaganomics,
- 6:35anti-UK and— I'm sorry,
- 6:39Thatcher shit. Oh, sure. It literally feels like we're in that
- 6:43time. And I literally would watch old punk bands going crazy
- 6:47that that was the system. And we're here again.
- 6:51Oh, yeah. Listen, if we don't pay attention to our history,
- 6:55we're bound to repeat it. And we don't. We never fucking do. My God.
- 6:57So yeah, we're going to actually kick things off with something that like,
- 7:01I don't know, it should be lighter compared to some of what we've been talking
- 7:04about here. It actually is lighter, but it's also kind of connected in the— it
- 7:07is connected. And it's, it's the whole Western
- 7:11Michigan-Michigan outcome. The latest news coming out of this story
- 7:15in which Michigan was awarded an extra second
- 7:19on a game that was apparently over. They used that second to throw a Hail
- 7:22Mary, win the game. Western Michigan had like essentially celebrated
- 7:25the win and then they had it ripped out from underneath them.
- 7:29Obviously, the Big Ten puts out this video where they say, okay,
- 7:33this is confirmation that this is where the officials found the extra
- 7:36second. And the MAC is now appealing that, says the replay
- 7:40error did still occur. Yeah. So I'll say what the MAC is saying
- 7:44and then we're going to get into it. After further study and investigation, it is
- 7:47now evident that replay protocol was not properly followed in determining
- 7:51whether time remained on the game clock at the conclusion of the Western Michigan versus
- 7:54Michigan football game. Said Steinbrecher in a brief statement, head of
- 7:58the MAC. Though the angles of the play that were shown on NBC's broadcast showed
- 8:02the clock hitting zero when the ball was touched, officials reviewing the play at the
- 8:05Big Ten's replay center outside Chicago used an angle of the play not shown on
- 8:08the broadcast that had no clock bug visible on the screen. The difference was fractions
- 8:12of a second. The Hawkeye replay system used by the Big Ten has a
- 8:16game clock display that is synced with in-stadium clocks. A couple of hours after Saturday
- 8:20night's game, the Big Ten released video and audio from the replay center of officials
- 8:23working through the play. We've all seen it. On Sunday,
- 8:27Mike Pereira, the Fox rules expert, told The Athletic that college
- 8:30replay officials are advised to use angles of a play with a game clock embedded
- 8:34and visible when reviewing whether time should be put back on the
- 8:38clock at the end of the half to avoid the perception of impropriety that could
- 8:41come from making a ruling that contradicts what viewers are seeing on television. So he's
- 8:44saying this was a— this was a fuck up, like,
- 8:47across the board. Yes, we know it's a fuck up across the board. Yes.
- 8:50Like, We've watched a lot of football, a lot
- 8:54of sports, a lot. And I made a video about this in which I,
- 8:57I said like the idea that they even gave us a split screen where we
- 9:01see, where we hear the, uh, the officials sort of talking
- 9:05through everything and they show us this split screen
- 9:08of one second was tough. My thing,
- 9:12and I don't know if you noticed this, that I talked about was not even
- 9:15in that Even in that video, it hits 1 second
- 9:20and it touches the out-of-bounds player at about—
- 9:24with about 0.3 of a second left on the clock. I mean, there's about like
- 9:270.7 of a second that ticked by before it even touches the out-of-bounds
- 9:31player, which would stop the clock, which means that
- 9:34the— that the Big Ten contended that
- 9:380.3 of a second that was not visible to the
- 9:41human eye was enough to reverse that call and
- 9:46give Michigan another shot at a Hail Mary.
- 9:50There is— and I have— there is all of this conspiracy
- 9:54around the idea that, that the, the game clock is different from
- 9:58the broadcast clock. Let me clear this shit up.
- 10:01Please do. Real quick. Please do. If there is a discrepancy between
- 10:05the broadcast clock and the game clock, the official clock that the officials are
- 10:09using, That is almost always noted. There's always like some
- 10:13sort of communication between the broadcast and the officials
- 10:17to note that so that the broadcasters are available to
- 10:20say, we've had like, we're kind of up in the air on whether our broadcast
- 10:24clock is off. It's almost always synced. This idea that there's like always,
- 10:29that there's always an extra second off between— that's not a fucking thing
- 10:32at all. Dudes in their living rooms are making this up. Yep.
- 10:36They've never been in production, in game production jobs. 100%. Guess. Guess what?
- 10:39I have. They've never been in these spots. I have to— I have like,
- 10:43this is not how it fucking works at all. This never happened.
- 10:46This was such the gaslighting. I'm glad we already used
- 10:50the word gaslighting. I feel like it's an overused term, but it's very, very necessary
- 10:53in this particular conversation. The fucking gaslighting on this
- 10:58particular situation was fucking embarrassing. Like, it was truly embarrassing.
- 11:02Um, can I just ask you a question very simply? Because I will give the
- 11:06same, uh, I'll give my answer after you give yours. What do you
- 11:10think happened? I think that the officials did find
- 11:143/10 of a second that was really there.
- 11:18And I still think that that was breaking protocol.
- 11:22I agree. Yeah, I think they probably
- 11:26found the 3/10 of a second and it was in
- 11:30the best interest of one particular conference that this took place.
- 11:34One particular conference and one particular school that was paying the other school $1.5
- 11:37million of being there to play the game. The school that just had Dave Portnoy
- 11:41pay to bring that quarterback in. It's a whole— there's a ton of— there is
- 11:45a lot of weird fucking politics and weird nonsense around
- 11:49this. But it's to the point where it seemed very
- 11:53beneficial for that play to be redone.
- 11:56And the way that it was done was, frankly, I don't know what else
- 12:00to say. I feel gaslit. I don't like being told that I'm fucking crazy.
- 12:05For witnessing what I'm literally looking at with my own eyes. And,
- 12:08and the thing is, there— if there— there's a lot of people who have
- 12:12decided that 3 tenths of a second is like, that, that counts, right? Like,
- 12:16that's what it was. I've looked at it, and, and based on the game clock
- 12:20that they have, they manufactured that. Okay, fine. Yeah, I,
- 12:23I'll buy that. I'll just buy that because I don't care to fucking argue it.
- 12:26Yeah, because it doesn't change my opinion.
- 12:30And the reality is, if they went by tenths of a second in
- 12:33football, guess what would be on the clock? Tenths of a second. Like basketball,
- 12:38we see in an NBA clock there are tenths left.
- 12:42We see game-winning shots with 0.1, 0.2. Like, that's the craziest.
- 12:46I work with Derek Fisher. 0.4 seconds, his most
- 12:50famous thing. So if that— if tenths of a second were part of this whole
- 12:53equation, that would be the case. It's not, because it is very
- 12:56hard to see with the naked eye on a 100-yard football field what has
- 13:00just happened. So we have Replay review. Okay. Now,
- 13:04in the NFL, there is a rule that there has to be at least 2
- 13:06seconds on the clock in order for a review like that to
- 13:10happen. Yes, that's what needs to happen in college football after this.
- 13:141 second being added back on to that, like them being like, oh shit,
- 13:17there was 1 second left, actually happens fairly frequently in college football.
- 13:21So it— when I was watching this game because I was watching it live,
- 13:23I'm a Michigan fan, I was watching it live. I was like, oh man,
- 13:27they're doing the phantom 1-second thing where they're like, oh yeah, but And in
- 13:31my head I was like, it's that classic, like, we just didn't see it live,
- 13:33but on replay you can see there was a second. Like, fuck, I feel bad
- 13:35for Western Michigan. They make the play. I'm like, oh my God, you give someone
- 13:39a second chance at a Hail Mary. There's— he had overthrown it to the back
- 13:42of the end zone. Now he's coached to throw it to the front of the
- 13:45end zone, which is how you're supposed to do it. It's a huge advantage.
- 13:47Like, yeah, you're not— you can't guarantee they're going to convert it, but it was
- 13:50a huge advantage. Then I realized that there was
- 13:53no fucking time, that the second— because everybody's acting like this has
- 13:56never happened. 1 second kind of pops up more frequently in college football than
- 14:00it does elsewhere. But usually you see it on the
- 14:04replay and you're like, man, technically, yeah, I guess. Fuck, right? This one
- 14:08wasn't that. Come on, you're a Michigan fan. You're like,
- 14:12no, that's what I'm saying. I know you're— and you're a Michigan fan and you're
- 14:16even fucking looking at it like, no, like, no. And this is just not the
- 14:19fucking facts. I don't like— I'm a fan of football. I don't want to see
- 14:22those— those kids were devastated. It wasn't cool. It was awful for them that
- 14:26they won the MAC last year, by the way. They won their conference.
- 14:30They were 10-4 last year. Like, this is a team that's on the up.
- 14:32This is a really big deal. And, and it just like,
- 14:36it all is incredibly frustrating. And the— it— there— it's
- 14:40not going to get overturned. That doesn't happen. It's never happened. It's not going to
- 14:43happen. I appreciate them putting in whatever the fuck they put in today, but it's
- 14:46not going to matter. Because somebody asked me that. They were like, could it— has
- 14:48that ever happened? No. And it's not going to. No, they cannot fuck with the
- 14:51integrity like that. It'll ruin everything. It'll also like— there's too Now,
- 14:55by the way, if there was ever an opportunity for it to happen, it would
- 14:59have been before all this legalized gambling. Completely agree. It can't happen now. As of
- 15:02right now, the integrity is already so shaky. Yeah, this would like break it.
- 15:06This would be the straw that broke the camel's back and there would be a
- 15:08bunch of bettors out of— oh my God, it would throw the entire gambling market
- 15:12into fucking disarray. Yeah. And by the way, that's just the gambling market.
- 15:15That's not even like the kind of unchecked futures market, right?
- 15:19Who knows what the fuck that would happen? And like, it would just be a
- 15:22disaster, which is Again, which actually affects like genuine stuff
- 15:26like this. It actually affects the NBA and all these other,
- 15:29other places where adjustments can be made after the fact. Adjustments to stat
- 15:33lines have started to become scary because you're dealing with bettors and you're dealing with
- 15:37screwing over those— that market as well. Not screwing them over,
- 15:40but those people feel screwed, screwed over, right? Yeah.
- 15:44So like, yeah, the,
- 15:48the idea that 3, that even
- 15:52a half a second— if timekeeping, when it
- 15:56comes to the officiating of football, we have a lot of issues across every single—
- 16:00we have all been there. You're a Raiders fan, I'm a Patriots fan. We've all
- 16:03been sitting there being like, the refs are screwing us specifically today. Like,
- 16:07you just feel it, you know, you know that feeling. But there's— there are a
- 16:11lot of things in, in real time, in the— specifically in
- 16:15football, that has gotten so fast and so skilled that are hard to spot With
- 16:19the naked eye. Timekeeping is the most
- 16:23important part of officiating that generally
- 16:27does not need replay. And if it does,
- 16:30it is— we're talking about like what's on the broadcast.
- 16:34Yeah. This— you— it is, it is in—
- 16:39it is inarguable that timekeeping to this
- 16:43degree trying to micromanage it down to tenths
- 16:47of a second is a full-on manufacturing of
- 16:51the actual— 100%. And that's where the
- 16:55whole gaslighting comes in. Like, you're telling me the most
- 16:58easily manipulated thing, which is the clock, wouldn't be
- 17:02manipulated in these things when we have this many aspects that are actually financially
- 17:07backed for no, you know, no less for a better word, quite frankly,
- 17:11because at the end of the day, like you just said, gambling companies are in
- 17:14here like We, we've already passed
- 17:17the slippery slope for me. Like, that's why I hate
- 17:21this. That's why I'm like, a part of me is happy that it's happened,
- 17:24but it's also like, fuck, because it's kind of exposing the entire
- 17:29game because this is so easily manipulated, especially in something that
- 17:33is as corrupt as NCAA college football. That split screen was nuts.
- 17:37But they're like, look at the proof, guys. Dude. And even with the proof
- 17:41It hit 1 second long before in that, in that very
- 17:45slow-mo video. I mean, they slowed it down to like a frame by frame.
- 17:49I mean, guys, it was— it hit zero. It touches
- 17:53his finger in the slow-mo and the frame by frame slow-mo,
- 17:57and then maybe 2, 3 tenths of a second later, it's down to zero.
- 18:00Like, that was not the proof. That is not enough to give
- 18:04a team a game-winning play. I couldn't agree more. If this had been
- 18:07even a game-tying play, I'd be less mad.
- 18:11Yeah, it was a game-winning play. No, I'm agreeing. This is— this
- 18:14was— I'm sorry, there's no other way for me to say this. And I,
- 18:18I, I'm not saying this because normally I would love to shit on Michigan.
- 18:21It's just more of a thing. This is just practical. Yeah,
- 18:24Western Michigan got fucked. Oh yeah, I don't have any other way. They won.
- 18:27They won a game. That is, they won a game. They won.
- 18:31It was Appalachian State. That's what we just had witnessed.
- 18:35And Whether it was the Big Ten, whether it was Michigan,
- 18:39whether it was NBC Sports or Fox Sports, whatever it was on, I apologize.
- 18:43Whether it was the, the, the Hawkeye track
- 18:46system, this was manipulated.
- 18:49At least, listen, a system that can already easily
- 18:54be manipulated. This is just— I hate that this
- 18:57happened because I was always worried it would. And it— I feel
- 19:02like it opens other people's eyes and like I, at first I was thinking,
- 19:05you know, is this them working for the, the books because they were 26.5-point
- 19:10favorites? Now the sportsbooks are going to lose money, whatever else.
- 19:13But like, I looked it up and the average margin of victory over
- 19:17like over, uh, MAC opponents or non-conference
- 19:21opponents, like they were all favored by like 27 points. It's an at— like they
- 19:25weren't— it wasn't even like— it was a fairly normal, um,
- 19:28spread for like Big Ten. Hey,
- 19:32Maria makes a very good point. At least it wasn't ESPN this time.
- 19:36It wasn't, wasn't it? No, I mean like,
- 19:39like what does that mean? At least it wasn't them, it was somebody else.
- 19:42Oh, it's— well, it's always— listen, we don't like any of the other ones.
- 19:45I know, but like, like Maria's very impressed at this one
- 19:49juncture of the corrupt potential government involved.
- 19:52Don't worry, ESPN was not involved. We have, uh, Monday Night
- 19:57Football coming up, right? So don't worry, plenty of time for them to get involved.
- 20:00But, but don't worry, because headline number 2, ESPN's plenty
- 20:04involved because Paul Feinbaum just can't shut the hell up about this situation.
- 20:09And then, of course, the SEC situation, which I got to say, we opened
- 20:14the show kind of chatting about it. Yeah, Tonya, this is such a mess.
- 20:18I don't— I don't understand it anymore. I'm going to try really hard.
- 20:21We're going to try really hard to keep this as streamlined as possible for people
- 20:25to understand. Do, because I felt like I understood. Yeah. And there's just been
- 20:28so much bullshit on top of bullshit and quite frankly, also a lot of misinformation
- 20:33around the entire situation. I don't know what up is down, down is up
- 20:37type of situation. So we knew that the SEC— there were countersuits.
- 20:41The SEC is suing LSU.
- 20:44We talked about that in the last show. They have amended that complaint
- 20:48seeking authority to expel LSU from the league.
- 20:51Okay. So the SEC filed this complaint against LSU on
- 20:55Tuesday, noting the conference CEOs will meet Thursday to decide whether
- 20:59to terminate Louisiana State University as an SEC member institution.
- 21:02As part of the amended complaint, the SEC is requesting a temporary restraining
- 21:06order to ensure that neither LSU nor anyone working with
- 21:10the school or on its behalf can take any action to block
- 21:14or interfere with the meeting or the conference's First Amendment rights.
- 21:18Ahead of Thursday's meeting, the degree of support within the SEC for following
- 21:22through and kicking LSU out of the conference is not immediately clear. But the fact
- 21:26that the league has called such a meeting and done so publicly and formally in
- 21:30a legal complaint is an extraordinary rebuke of one of the SEC's flagship
- 21:34members and biggest brands. So this is the part that we're going to focus on
- 21:37right now, which is the SEC requesting a
- 21:41temporary restraining order to ensure that anyone working with the school doesn't try
- 21:45to block or stop the meeting. Okay. This is Trump shit.
- 21:49What they're doing is they were advised to create essentially a,
- 21:53like, straw man, right? We are going to— just
- 21:57so you guys know, we're taking out a restraining order so you don't try to
- 21:59stop us from having this meeting where we're going to kick you out— is,
- 22:02is full-on posturing. Okay, that can't happen.
- 22:06That's not a fucking— it doesn't make sense to me. That's not— they can't stop
- 22:09it. They don't have the power to do it. And if they did, you just
- 22:12have the meeting still. What do you think, LSU is going to hold you up
- 22:15like the goddamn mafia? What are you talking about? Yeah, I'm lost. It's— so they
- 22:19made up a boogeyman. This is like the whole thing, like LSU is going to
- 22:22try to stop us. LSU is like, where's,
- 22:25where's the evidence that we would try to stop this meeting? You just said that
- 22:29it was going to happen. What are you talking about? Secondly, the idea that they
- 22:32are, they are meeting to seek authority to
- 22:35it. So they, they are going to meet to decide before they get
- 22:40approval from the courts to say whether or not they can.
- 22:43So this is all a public
- 22:47relations, like posturing behavior, essentially saying, We're going to meet
- 22:51to do this. We're going to threaten to expel you. We're going to try to
- 22:54get the authority to expel you. And then we're going to wait for the courts
- 22:56to tell us whether we can or can't. If they tell us they can,
- 22:59then you are going to have the opportunity to do what we want you to
- 23:02do so you can stay in the SEC. And if they tell us that we
- 23:05can't, then at least everybody knows we made you out
- 23:09to be the bad guys. And now the— now the courts have stepped in and
- 23:11blocked us. So. Right.
- 23:15Can I give you my very simple interpretation
- 23:20of what you just said. Sure. Also, if anybody has questions in the chat,
- 23:24I know this is confusing.
- 23:26SEC makes a fake fucking
- 23:30injunction to the— to LSU about
- 23:34a meeting that doesn't really exist type of situation. It is going to happen.
- 23:38The meeting is going to happen. But like, the injunction to LSU is
- 23:42nothing other than bullshit. The restraining order
- 23:45is to signal to— but that doesn't make sense. What restraining
- 23:49order? It would be like, Kody, it'd be like if you and I were in
- 23:52a fight. Yeah. And I went on Instagram and I told everybody that I was
- 23:55getting a restraining order against you because you might try to do the podcast
- 23:59with me. And, and you were like, bro, what? I'm not trying to do the
- 24:02podcast with you. We're in a fight. Like, we'll handle it. Like, whatever. So if
- 24:05I preemptively just told people before I was going to do it,
- 24:09before I did it, that I was going to take a restraining order so that
- 24:12everybody would think you're the bad guy already. Yeah.
- 24:15In the court of public opinion, you were going to do something. LSU is already
- 24:18now the bad guy because the SEC took out this restraining order on LSU for
- 24:22something that LSU is like, what the fuck? What do we do? Yeah. Like,
- 24:24you— okay. And LSU knows what they did. But again, you know,
- 24:28and this is something that we have to get into in the second part of
- 24:31this conversation. LSU actually hasn't—
- 24:35we have— there's been no establishment here. And I'm not— I'm
- 24:39not like— this isn't an opinion. It's a fact. We have not established that LSU
- 24:43has broken any rules. I don't know what the problem is to this exact
- 24:47moment. Right. Has a pro player played in the NCAA hat?
- 24:51Did that happen in week 1? Did they play on the, on the team?
- 24:54Yes. Oh, that's a— wait, did they? Did those players play? I don't
- 24:58know. That's my new question. They're also not pro players because
- 25:02they never— they— I don't know what anything is at this
- 25:05point. So they never— they— the whole thing is that they like, they were in
- 25:09training. They were in training camp, right? So even the thing is,
- 25:12they're— the whole reason he signed them to the roster in the first place was
- 25:15because there's no— they're the rule allowed it.
- 25:19And now they're saying like, no, actually the rule doesn't. So that's what they're still
- 25:22deciding. But everybody has already decided LSU broke a rule and the SEC
- 25:27is behaving as if LSU broke a rule. But I'm assuming
- 25:30players decided if they did. But here's the other thing. Court said they didn't.
- 25:33But then they also not play last week because, because even Lane Kiffin,
- 25:36after the blowout win, even joked to the, to the commentator after
- 25:41the game, going, imagine if we had pro players. Does anybody in the chat know
- 25:44if, if those players like truly, if you're in the chat and you know if
- 25:47they played, let us know because we don't know. Because I— all I saw— no,
- 25:50they didn't. They did not right there. So I saw that they obviously walloped
- 25:54Clemson. So they walloped Clemson without the professional players.
- 25:59And so like this whole— so we're, we're standing on the precipice of like
- 26:03we have not even gotten a clear ruling from the NCAA or
- 26:07the courts they're using as their judge and jury to say that LSU
- 26:12officially broke a rule and what rule they broke. So now
- 26:17we have to get to the, like, narrative building
- 26:20around this, please, because that's, that's the whole thing. What I've
- 26:23learned about all of this has been around narratives, and I know these narratives have
- 26:28been bullshit, which is why, like, I'm actually quite annoyed because I don't
- 26:31like being on Lane Kiffin's side. I really don't. It's an uncomfortable place
- 26:35for me to be. No, I mean, it was pretty funny, like, to watch them
- 26:39lose to Clemson and be like, well, Dabo. Yeah.
- 26:43I'm sorry, I can't. Fuck you.
- 26:46You and Curt Schilling, dude. And then somebody like— someone put
- 26:51a tweet out that was like, man, these small programs like Clemson, they just can't
- 26:55keep like joking. Yeah. And a bunch of people got mad in the comments thinking
- 26:58that they were being serious. Good. And it was so funny. Everybody's like,
- 27:01this is the whole stupidity of the thing. So this— I'm
- 27:06going to— I'm going to make sure I credit the article and who wrote it.
- 27:09This is Matt Hayes for, for USA Today, which is really on
- 27:13a roll with their opinion. But this is the kind
- 27:16of, of narrative that's being floated that
- 27:19I think is confusing you so much. Talk to me. So this guy writes,
- 27:24ESPN loves this drama for TV ratings, but make no mistake who
- 27:28has the leverage in that relationship. And it's not ESPN. If ESPN decides the expulsion
- 27:32of LSU means the SEC has changed the dynamics of
- 27:36the media rights deal and they want out, The SEC will saunter over to Amazon
- 27:40and get more cash. The SEC controls that relationship and
- 27:43will tell ESPN who is part of its 16 or 15-team league.
- 27:47Now, there's 2 suppositions happening here that make no sense. First of all,
- 27:51LSU has not been expelled. Yeah, there is no legal
- 27:55basis yet for them to be expelled. They still don't know what rules they broke.
- 27:57And the SEC losing—
- 28:03if they expel Louisiana State University, and they
- 28:07are now able to like go wherever. And now they're down to 15 teams.
- 28:11They've lost the second biggest revenue maker
- 28:14in their league, which, by the way, you corrected me at the
- 28:18beginning of the show before the show even started, because I thought the biggest revenue
- 28:22maker in the SEC to me, even though they're new,
- 28:26Texas. Well, Texas is a huge revenue maker. I agree. Yeah.
- 28:30But right now, Between Alabama and LSU, it is like a
- 28:34crapshoot. And that's like— that blew me away. That made me go like, holy shit.
- 28:37Post-Nick Saban LSU, right? You're right. Post-Nick Saban LSU and
- 28:41Alabama. So Alabama has like— LSU
- 28:45has— they have had the bigger brand
- 28:48in the last few years purely based off the success of
- 28:52basically Joe Burrow directly. Well, not directly, but Joe Burrow and then Jayden
- 28:56Daniels sort of like whatever. Now Alabama has had a— but like since Nick Saban's
- 29:00retired. It's a little bit of a dip. You— all 3
- 29:04of those teams are top, I think, top 6 in revenue.
- 29:07Yeah. So the SEC still has huge revenue makers.
- 29:11The Big Ten is who's winning, right? The Big Ten is who's like— they're the
- 29:15ones who have been on top. No question. But make no mistake about it,
- 29:18you lose LSU,
- 29:22they're— ESPN, if ESPN wants out of that deal, just so we're
- 29:26clear, You don't just go get more money from Amazon without LSU.
- 29:30I don't— I don't know who the fuck this guy thinks he— I don't know
- 29:34what he's talking about, but that is— that is a massive
- 29:38fucking dip in your— in the SEC's total
- 29:42revenue. They are not going to be like, oh, we'll just give you more money
- 29:45than ESPN was giving you before without LSU.
- 29:49That's not happening. I agree. Then he says, that the Big
- 29:54Ten wouldn't want to deal with LSU, so they'd have to be independent.
- 29:58That's also a bold fucking claim considering the Big Ten deals
- 30:02with Ohio State, Michigan, who we just talked about. By the way,
- 30:05Michigan, this is like the 4th biggest scandal they've had in
- 30:08the last 12 calendar months. It actually doesn't even scratch the goddamn surface.
- 30:12Michigan's been a fucking disaster. Are you kidding me? And they are manipulating
- 30:16the entire fucking college football system to get them to win a game.
- 30:19I promise you they don't give a fuck about dealing with LSU. Are you
- 30:23kidding me? They just let in USC, who famously had all their fucking Heismans
- 30:27removed from them and championships. They brought in UCLA,
- 30:31which had the first 100 championships of all schools in the world,
- 30:34who fired their fucking athletic director literally last week. Like, let's be
- 30:39real fucking clear, if you can make the Big Ten
- 30:42money, LSU, the Big Ten
- 30:46will welcome you with open arms. Controversies be goddamned.
- 30:51This attempt to make Lane Kiffin the greatest
- 30:54villain in the history of college football is— it's— or in college sports.
- 30:58He doesn't need your help, by the way. But it's also like the
- 31:02NCAA. You know who's still coaching in the NCAA successfully,
- 31:07really well, in like a way that they're almost beloved?
- 31:10Rick Pitino. Yeah. John Calipari.
- 31:14These dudes have I promise you that Lane
- 31:18can't— like, oh my God, what are we fucking talking about
- 31:22anymore? Okay, I, I, I need you to think about some of the
- 31:26real pieces of work that have coached at Ohio
- 31:30State. I want you to go through the list right now. Okay,
- 31:34so like, you know, from Urban
- 31:37Meyer— Urban Meyer is all you need to say,
- 31:39but continue. I So we're— so we're
- 31:43at like, we're— this is a tiny paragraph of this dude's fucking
- 31:48post. I'm listening. There's a reason Texas and Oklahoma, the 2 biggest
- 31:52chess pieces on the expansion board, sprinted to the SEC over the Big Ten when
- 31:55they had the opportunity. It's the all-for-one mantra within the league.
- 31:59No team is bigger than any other. Okay. What? What is this?
- 32:03Okay. This guy has
- 32:07sucked and swallowed the SEC's
- 32:10propaganda in a way that I'm honestly like,
- 32:14that's deep throat level shit, boy. Put him on Pornhub
- 32:18in front of the babies. You belong in every cuckold
- 32:21video I've ever heard of. Like, what the fuck? Sit in that chair
- 32:26and you enjoy. Everyone abides by the same rules.
- 32:28Everyone profits evenly to the dime from the riches.
- 32:32Well, not anymore if you expel LSU, you dumb fucks.
- 32:35Listen, that's wild to me, but Hey, listen, great, go ahead and fuck
- 32:39around. Let LSU walk out. Let the fucking— like, let them do the fucking Notre
- 32:43Dame thing. I bet they make a killing on their own. Let them join the
- 32:46Big Ten. Holy fuck, can you imagine if LSU joined the Big
- 32:50Ten? Yeah, the SEC becomes fucking literally Conference
- 32:54B and might be B-. And they're already close to being— they're close because the
- 32:58Big Ten is the fucking shit. And I'm not saying that because I'm a UCLA
- 33:01guy. A lot of people already think— a lot of people people already think the
- 33:05Big Ten is like the— is so like, which is
- 33:09crazy. I understand. I don't love it, by the way, because like, listen, it's— I'm
- 33:13a UCLA guy. I'm a Pac-12 guy. I'm— by the way, I played in the
- 33:16Pac-10. But OG Pac-12, Pac-10, it's the shit. Yeah,
- 33:19it's the shit. But like, here's the deal. I understand. And I
- 33:23like that the Big Ten is like become this national conference because like,
- 33:27that's the— that's what's going to be. It's going to end up being like 3
- 33:31national— Cal is in the fucking Atlantic Coast Conference.
- 33:36Stanford is in the Atlantic Coast Conference.
- 33:39Being in the ACC makes me want— it makes me feel so sick
- 33:43to my stomach. Fucked up. It's fucked up and broken. So like, listen,
- 33:46the Atlantic Coast Conference is now a national conference. The Big Ten
- 33:51is now a national conference of what, 19 teams? 16?
- 33:54I don't even fucking know how At the end of the day,
- 33:57like, that's what it's all going to be. I don't love it. Do you love
- 34:01it? I fucking hate it. I missed the Pac-10. I thought this could have been
- 34:05divisional the way it was going to go into the pro route because it's
- 34:09always been a pro league and division.
- 34:12Why didn't we just keep the divisions the way they were?
- 34:16I'm a little— Oregon is like fucking 3rd in
- 34:20the country. Like, Oregon's always this national powerhouse. They've been in the Pac-
- 34:23fucking 12, which they bought, by the way. Yeah. So we're clear, they bought their
- 34:27way into that level of success and relevance completely. It was never complete.
- 34:31It's not recruiting. It's not the integrity of— no,
- 34:34this is Nike. It's fucking Phil Knight. No question
- 34:38about it. So like, if we want to keep whining and crying about the integrity
- 34:42of college football, that's a perfect example. The reality is
- 34:46that like, to, to cite how everybody profits
- 34:50evenly and, and everybody gets to benefit
- 34:54from the riches as you're saying that LSU should get expelled from
- 34:58the SEC, thus reducing everyone's income is so
- 35:03fucking funny. This guy is very stupid. Yes. He goes on to say that LSU
- 35:06overplayed its hand because it got caught up in the Kiffin hurricane and started
- 35:10thinking and acting like him. You know, the same nonsense he instigated
- 35:14with the NFL's Raiders and Tennessee and USC. In Alabama and Ole Miss.
- 35:17It's the world according to Kiffin absorbed through osmosis. Um,
- 35:22not adding players who signed NFL contracts but not trying to, uh,
- 35:25strict penalties for those who did. He could have stopped
- 35:28this from day one by telling Kiffin that LSU would not accept
- 35:33players who signed NFL deals. Um, here's the thing.
- 35:37Yes, Lane Kiffin,
- 35:40when he went to LSU should
- 35:44not have left Mississippi State the way that he did, right? Like, yeah, it was
- 35:48gross. The way he did was fucked up and we all
- 35:51hated it. And by the way, like, that's the other— like,
- 35:54just for an added layer, like bastardizing players in,
- 35:58in the portal or whatever they've tried to do.
- 36:02Oh, we talked about it at the time. Disaster. Disaster. You let the coaches— coaches
- 36:06can do whatever they want no matter what. It's I mean, to Lane Kiffin's
- 36:10credit, he's like, I do whatever I want. Why can't my players? No. So like,
- 36:13in that respect, I even respect it even more. Well, and guess who
- 36:17let him do it? LSU and the SEC.
- 36:20Yes, no question. LSU. And now they're in the moral high ground.
- 36:24Let him peace out from the middle, like in the,
- 36:28in the fucking playoffs, from a playoff team to go to
- 36:31LSU and fuck over his entire team, which by
- 36:35the way could have won a national title. Could have. They could have won a
- 36:38national title. That team was good as fuck. Really good. He leaves, he fucks
- 36:41the team up, takes coaches with him, and guess who was
- 36:44totally fine with it? The SEC,
- 36:49Cody. The SEC was fine with it. So now they're like, I can't
- 36:53believe Lane Kiffin acts like this. Where were you in
- 36:57January, Tanya? They got Paul Feinbaum working
- 37:01overtime right now, and His bald head, and as
- 37:04a bald guy I will tell you, is fucking smoking due to
- 37:09the overwork that he's trying to do at the moment to make justifications of all
- 37:12of this. And the way he got the gift of the Western Michigan-Michigan
- 37:16game of being able to point at the, the Big Ten for being villains—
- 37:20I, I, I truly hate what this has all become.
- 37:24This has become the worst version of reality TV.
- 37:28It's not— it's I wish it was reality TV because at least in reality
- 37:32TV there's a like, there's a, there's a script and we
- 37:36know the story we're trying to tell. I don't think the SEC has any clue
- 37:40what they're doing. I agree. I actually fucking wholeheartedly agree. That's why this is
- 37:44such, for lack of a better phrase, dogshit. I honestly, this is my takeaway from
- 37:48the entire thing. The SEC personally
- 37:52thinks they are too big to fail. They think they are the show. And I'm
- 37:56not gonna lie to you, I'm now rooting for LSU in this debacle
- 38:00because I think it's time for fucking somebody to be slapped down to understand
- 38:04exactly what pays the bills. I feel like this is like a— is
- 38:07like a— like a trickle-down effect a little bit. Oh,
- 38:10SEC, you think you're the fucking masters? Nope, the— the teams
- 38:13are actually the masters. Oh, teams, you think you're the masters? Bullshit,
- 38:17the players are actually the masters. I'm like kind of looking this like
- 38:21the other way around. I want people to start seeing actually who has the
- 38:24real power out there compared to the people who claim they have the
- 38:28fucking power out there. I, I just can't get over— I agree with you completely,
- 38:32and I, I can't get over the idea that this self-righteous bullshit
- 38:37conference was fine with one of their found—
- 38:40another one of their founding schools getting fucked over on a playoff run
- 38:45by this coaching change Only to that,
- 38:48as a super casual, I love Lane Kiffin. The system shouldn't force coaches to grab
- 38:52jobs during the playoffs. I— we hate Lane Kiffin
- 38:55and we agree with you. Yeah, I am, uh,
- 38:58completely always anti-Lane Kiffin, but this is correct.
- 39:01No, like, I, I— and I don't hate Lane Kiffin. Like, I hate him in
- 39:05the— no, but I mean, like, I, I don't hate him like I hate,
- 39:08like, Donald Trump. Oh yeah, no, no, it's like I hate him in the sports
- 39:11world. Like, I'm not Like, I hate what Lane Kiffin is, but I'm sure I'd
- 39:15have a drink with him. I would never have a drink with Donald Trump.
- 39:17Whatever. Right. But like, but you're— no,
- 39:20they should not. The whole thing. But, but they were— they also
- 39:24didn't need to. Like, if LSU wanted Lane Kiffin, they could
- 39:28have waited for Lane Kiffin. They were afraid that if they didn't— if like Lane
- 39:32was worried that if he didn't take the job, they'd go get somebody else.
- 39:35And it was all self-serving bullshit. And the SEC let
- 39:39it happen. And so now they're dealing with Lane Kiffin
- 39:43at LSU. You gave him a fucking— you put him right back up to the
- 39:47top of the— to the big dogs, the top of the SEC. And now you're
- 39:50like, whoa, I can't even believe this guy thinks he can do whatever he wanted
- 39:53when we let him do it. I'm so over this. So to
- 39:57just to recap, because this is a winding road.
- 40:00Yes, boy. The SEC has not proven,
- 40:03nor have the courts proven, that Lane Kiffin broke a rule. They are in
- 40:07the midst of trying to prove that Lane Kiffin and LSU broke a
- 40:10rule. They have not proven it. They are now threatening to remove
- 40:14LSU from the SEC, and they're going to meet with—
- 40:17everybody's going to have a meeting on Thursday. They have preemptively taken a restraining
- 40:22order out on LSU to not stop them from having
- 40:25the meeting, even though there's no evidence that LSU was ever going to stop them
- 40:28from having the meeting, which is a full-on fucking publicity stunt to
- 40:32get everybody on their side because they've now painted LSU and Kiffin
- 40:36as trying to interfere with their First Amendment rights.
- 40:40That is— this is a fucking joke. And anybody
- 40:43who at this point doesn't understand that the SEC is
- 40:47playing fucking mind games to try to get you to,
- 40:52to, to go against the establishment bullshit that they created so
- 40:57that they can be the good guys, I don't know what to tell you.
- 40:59The SEC as the good guys is going to land you in a spot where
- 41:03players are back to getting in trouble for being
- 41:06bought McDonald's. That's what they want.
- 41:10Colonel Mustard in the library with
- 41:14the fucking hammer. You don't like Lane Kiffin like you hate Aaron Boone?
- 41:18No, I hate Aaron Boone way more than I hate Lane Kiffin.
- 41:21Fuck, I hate this. This is making
- 41:25me a a fan of Lane Kiffin. Like, that's the worst
- 41:30part of all of this. I would love for— I would love for something to
- 41:33make me like Aaron Boone, honestly. Fuck, give me a chance to
- 41:37like— fuck, I just want you all to eat each other, like, at this point.
- 41:41Oh my God. Oh, Jesus Christ. Well, I feel— I hope—
- 41:46I hope that was digestible to
- 41:51anyone. Because even, even after getting that incredible breakdown,
- 41:55I'm still even still a little confused because it's, it's so
- 41:59convoluted. The bong hit. It might have been. It might have been the bong hit.
- 42:02But it's also the fact that it's, it's become so convoluted. I mean,
- 42:06it's, it's for me, it's not convoluted, but I understand that it is getting confusing
- 42:09to explain. Here's something that's not convoluted.
- 42:13Good. I'm going to give you a headline. Give it to me.
- 42:16So just a basic NFL headline. Classic preseason. We're about to kick off regular season
- 42:20of NFL. Yes. NFL power rankings. You know them, you love them. Well, we hate
- 42:24them so much. Hate them and love them at the same time. NFL power rankings.
- 42:27Are the Bills and Josh Allen the biggest threat to the Rams' reign?
- 42:31Fuck me. Fuck me. So I'm going to— I
- 42:34don't— I'm not even going to get into the article because this is power rankings.
- 42:38We don't actually really fully care about the power rankings per se, because who cares?
- 42:41That's just like whatever. That headline almost
- 42:45broke my entire brain. Are the Bills and Josh Allen
- 42:50The biggest threat to the Rams' reign.
- 42:52So I'm going to ask you a question. Yes.
- 42:56Are the Bills and Josh Allen the biggest threat to anything?
- 43:00Have they ever been the biggest threat to anything ever? Can I,
- 43:03can I ask a follow-up question? No, you have to answer that one first.
- 43:06Okay. No. Okay. It's a direct no. Okay. Also,
- 43:10what Rams reign? Thank you. That was actually my question.
- 43:14That was the question I wanted to ask you. There's 2 because I got so
- 43:18confused by the premise. Because the premise was some magical
- 43:23world that doesn't fucking exist. Wait, wait,
- 43:26who's— I'm sorry, the last I checked, the Rams
- 43:30haven't won a Super Bowl since 2020. They won a Super Bowl in
- 43:342021. That was very fun, right? That was 5 years ago. It was also 5
- 43:39years ago. Matthew Stafford did win an MVP last year. Last year.
- 43:42He— this guy, this guy refers to Matthew
- 43:47Stafford is perhaps the best quarterback in football. What? So apparently
- 43:54he's, he's going up. He's got Josh Allen number 2. Boy,
- 43:58boy, I have a lot of questions. Boy, I have a lot of questions about
- 44:02that. This one headline threw me for such a— this headline has
- 44:06done so much heavy lifting of a predisposed universe.
- 44:10It was like a cinematic universe that we were not privy to.
- 44:13I feel I feel like, you know, in The Flash when he ends up in
- 44:16those, in those alter— on like Earth-4, a new world. Yeah, so he's
- 44:20like, he's on like Earth-4. We're all playing catch-up exactly
- 44:24who starred in what movie. That's the world we're currently living
- 44:28in. He's like, he opens that up, he's like, he's like, oh my God,
- 44:31Michael B. Jordan is Iron Man! And are the Bills and
- 44:35Josh Allen— Al Pacino is, is fucking Luke Skywalker.
- 44:39And explain the universe we're currently in.
- 44:42Batshit. Batshit based on the premise.
- 44:45So, so here we are. And I want to break this down real quick.
- 44:50Josh Allen and the Bills across the, across the
- 44:54course of the time that they have been legitimate playoff contenders. Yes.
- 44:57He's won a, he's won an MVP that he should
- 45:02have lost to Lamar Jackson. I agree. But that's okay. He didn't. Okay,
- 45:06fine. He did have a great season. He did. It was phenomenal. It was his
- 45:09best season. It was. And he won an MVP for it. No All-Pros,
- 45:14a really bad showing in the, in the divisional round last season.
- 45:18Coach fired. The only coach he's ever played for fired. He has
- 45:22a new head coach. Nobody talks about it. His guy.
- 45:25Nobody has talked about the fact— doesn't matter.
- 45:29Nobody's talked about the fact that Joe Brady has a brand new head coach who,
- 45:32by the way, only got promoted to the offensive
- 45:36coordinator because the previous offensive coordinator, who was caught on camera looking like an absolute
- 45:39lunatic, got fired. Like, like, this guy was never
- 45:42hired at any point. So McDermott was, was the
- 45:45head coach when he had top 5 defenses for basically 5 years,
- 45:49the head coach when Josh Allen had one of the best offensive lines in football,
- 45:53the head coach that also oversaw the fact that James Cook
- 45:57ended up being the leading rusher in football last year. Now, I don't necessarily—
- 46:01I'm not saying that Sean McDermott deserved to keep his job or didn't. I,
- 46:04I moved on. I don't care. Agreed. But like,
- 46:08we're, we're just acting like they are there, everything's business as
- 46:12usual. I agree. It's crazy. Is all we've talked
- 46:16about Lamar's new head coach? Yeah, we've talked about— no, no, that doesn't matter.
- 46:20He's got the most pressure. Continue. Yeah, well, he did, of course. Hold on.
- 46:23And Jalen Hurts also with a similar amount of pressure. Continue. Yes. Yeah,
- 46:27yeah, him and Jalen Hurts. I can't believe they're even NFL quarterbacks, uh, by the
- 46:30way, uh Washington Commanders there. Who's Jaden Daniels? Jaden Daniels.
- 46:34Pressure. Well, this year. Yeah. Year— what is he, year 3? It's time for
- 46:38him to show up. Pressure. He was Rookie of the Year, but he had one
- 46:41down year. So Justin Herbert, no pressure. He's gold. Yeah. No, are you kidding?
- 46:45Justin Herbert, he's literally perfect. He's doing great. Yeah.
- 46:49Yeah. So here's the thing. I'm trying to think what else was on
- 46:53Dan Orlovsky's list. Like, if I were genuine, I've thought about this, like where
- 46:57I would put the Bills In terms of like benefit of the doubt at
- 47:00this point. We know that nobody's going to give— ever
- 47:04going to blame anything on Josh Allen, which I like. I think when you get
- 47:07the credit for when you're doing great, you should take a little bit of a
- 47:11shot when things don't go well. Yeah. Head coach is fired. You had the rusher,
- 47:14you've had offensive lines, you've had the defense like something's up.
- 47:18And that's not just on Josh Allen, by the way. It could have also been
- 47:21on Josh McDermott. And I do understand. I mean, Josh McDermott, What is this?
- 47:25What is that guy's name? Whatever. McDermott. McDermott. Let's just say McDermott right
- 47:29now. Sean McDermott. Maybe at this point there's so many names. Sean McDermott.
- 47:33But it could have been. But like, at the end of the day,
- 47:37okay, so they've got a new— why are— I wouldn't
- 47:41put anybody with a brand new head coach as the cream
- 47:45of the crop in the AFC. Me neither. For— I
- 47:49don't love it. I don't love it, but Patrick Mahomes is playing football
- 47:54this year. Yes. On the Chiefs. And until last
- 47:58year, they'd been to the Super Bowl 5 of the last 6 seasons.
- 48:03Like, they've got the same head coach and the same quarterback. Yeah,
- 48:06that's usually all you goddamn need. I don't
- 48:10know where people got this idea. Not only do they have the head coach and
- 48:13the quarterback, they have— they have a Hall of Fame defensive coordinator.
- 48:17No, I agree. It's fucking batshit. The best defensive coordinator,
- 48:20in my opinion. Outside of like Tony Dungy,
- 48:24who's been retired for a while, of the last 25 years. Completely agree.
- 48:27It's batshit. No, like, here's the thing. That's the thing that's been actually boggling
- 48:31my mind for the most part going into this NFL season. The amount how nobody's
- 48:35actually talking about the fucking Chiefs. Like, it's scary. And by the way, I'm a
- 48:38Raider fan. I know my team is going to win at very best 6,
- 48:417 wins. 7 is a lofty fucking dream.
- 48:45But I want to make this abundantly clear. Holy shit,
- 48:49how come no one's talking about this? Like, it's actually
- 48:53starting to bother me to the point where I'm starting to think there's like a
- 48:56method behind it that are cooking up like fucking sportsbooks. It's the only thing I
- 48:59can come up with at this point. Well, Chiefs fans are feeling crazy. Like,
- 49:03I actually— like, there's been a few Chiefs fans who are like, hey, are we—
- 49:05am I being sensitive, or is the way people are talking about the Chiefs and
- 49:08Mahomes weird? And I'm like, no, it's weird. No, it's weird. Um, I've like
- 49:12I, I don't— I recall that there was like doubt
- 49:16around Tom Brady and Bill Belichick after they hadn't won a
- 49:19Super Bowl for a while. It's been like not
- 49:23even 3 calendar years, like 2 calendar years since then. Like, what are we doing,
- 49:26right? Fucking crazy. So that part is, is weird.
- 49:30And then on top of all of that, in division— and
- 49:34I'm not saying I don't have like the craziest high hopes for the Patriots,
- 49:39But like, in division, you have Mike Vrabel in year 2, Drake Maye
- 49:43in year 3. Yes, they just signed the best fucking cornerback in football.
- 49:46They have a great defense no matter what they fucking do. And this
- 49:50team just went to the Super Bowl. It's not likely to me that they're going
- 49:53to make us another Super Bowl run. I would be pleased with that, with their,
- 49:55their season, if they just make the playoffs, whatever else.
- 49:59But it's not a cakewalk for the Bills anymore. Not even Drake Maye and Mike
- 50:03Vrabel and that defense are sitting right there. That's what's actually driven me crazy because
- 50:06I feel like the window was this last year and a half. And the window—
- 50:09the Patriots made it before the Bills again, and that fucking drove me nuts.
- 50:12Nobody talks about the fact that the Patriots dynasty ended, the Bills
- 50:16took over, they ran the division for fucking 6
- 50:20years, and then guess who made the Super Bowl first? The fucking Patriots.
- 50:24And not only that, like, in between you had a new dynasty
- 50:28with the fucking Chiefs. Like, you missed your fucking window. It was there.
- 50:32Like, it fucking gift-wrapped. And the worst part is the last
- 50:36year of it being gift-wrapped, Patrick Mahomes wasn't even fucking there.
- 50:40You had no boogeyman. The only boogeyman was the fucking
- 50:44mirror in front of you, you fucking pussies.
- 50:48Unbelievable. You blew it. You blew it.
- 50:51And over to the— and over to the NFC.
- 50:55The Rams' reign is crazy. The Rams
- 50:59reign is crazy. That's fucking crazy. I'm sorry, they won
- 51:03in 2021. I, I also want— I just want you to remember, I just
- 51:07want you to remember one thing. Not only have they not won since 2021,
- 51:10the Niners have been to 2 Super Bowls since,
- 51:14and the Seahawks won last year and knocked
- 51:19out the Rams in the fucking— to go to the Super Bowl. It's like fucking
- 51:24Nothing is real. This is— everything you've seen means
- 51:28nothing. Fucking insane. You're all being gaslit
- 51:32with batshit crazy fucking people. They're in their division.
- 51:37Crazy. Fucking crazy. There have been
- 51:403 Super Bowl appearances since the Rams won
- 51:44a Super Bowl not involving the Rams.
- 51:48I don't— the reign of the Rams. Fucking nuts. I don't
- 51:52get it. Now, I will say I get why the Rams are Super Bowl favorites.
- 51:55I agree. That's not what I'm saying. But the reign of the Rams— reign?
- 51:59Fucking reign. Guys, we are playing fast
- 52:03and loose. They didn't spell this R-A-I-N, by the way. We are playing
- 52:07fast and loose with the term reign. You're all batshit.
- 52:11Like, I, I, I would be— I would actually make
- 52:15fun of this if it said if they were a threat to the Seahawks' reign.
- 52:18There's no— a reign has to— it has to be an
- 52:22extended time period where you are sort
- 52:26of on top and unbeatable. Guess who— guess who that
- 52:30has done that the most recently? The Chiefs and the Eagles,
- 52:34who you both decided fucking suck, apparently.
- 52:38Well, then Eagles, listen, a lot of pressure.
- 52:43The Chiefs too. The Chiefs, we're not— they don't even have pressure. They don't even
- 52:47expect anything. They don't even exist. Patrick Mahomes
- 52:50is dead. Andy Reid is— we— they're ghosts of their former selves.
- 52:55We don't even have to worry about— don't worry about them at all. We— they're
- 52:58not even— they're not even overrated. They're just— and let's be real
- 53:01clear, the pressure in Philly— oh,
- 53:05the less we talk about them, the better. Uh, by the way, you ever see
- 53:08the movie Reign of Fire? No, it's not— it's not good.
- 53:11Oh yes, I— wait, it's a— it's a dragon movie starring Christian Bale.
- 53:16And I just loved it because the movie— I just thought about— in my head
- 53:19I thought about Man on Fire. Oh, that's a good movie. That's a really good
- 53:23movie. Reign of Fire, not a good movie. Okay, except I will tell you this,
- 53:26there is a reason to love this movie. Okay, Matthew McConaughey shaves
- 53:30his head and he's this over-the-top American, like, dragon killer.
- 53:36And there's a scene where he gets killed. No, you,
- 53:39you have to understand. You, you ever see Deep Blue Sea when, when,
- 53:42when Samuel L. Jackson's killed and it's just so ridiculous and out of
- 53:46nowhere? The only thing that I think is funnier is Matthew McConaughey's death scene in
- 53:50fucking Reign of Fire. Okay, he— it was in the trailer.
- 53:55It's him jumping off a fucking, like,
- 53:58like, castle in heroic fashion with
- 54:03an axe in the air. It's a suicide mission, right? Going to
- 54:07take out a dragon that's flying at him, right? Boy oh
- 54:10boy, that's what they set up in the trailers. I want you to
- 54:14watch the movie. I'm not doing that. You should watch the movie.
- 54:17But you know what, Mocha, have you— since this is Mocha— no,
- 54:20hold on, hold on, this is before your time, but have you seen
- 54:24Man on Fire with Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning?
- 54:29No, no, you gotta see that. It's so good. Tony Scott,
- 54:33man. It's— isn't there a really good Black
- 54:37Mirror episode that's called Man on Fire also? Black Mirror. Black Mirror?
- 54:41I don't know. Oh, but the movie— I've seen every episode of Black Mirror,
- 54:44so if there is one, I just don't remember the name. Follow-up question: have you
- 54:48seen Reign of Fire, the dragon movie starring Christian Bale and Matthew
- 54:53McConaughey? No, but you're not missing a goddamn thing.
- 54:57But it sounds fascinating. Go on YouTube and watch the death scene of Matthew
- 55:01McConaughey. It is worth— that is worth the 3 and a half minutes. Mocha,
- 55:04how many Denzel movies— like, have you seen a decent amount of Denzel movies,
- 55:07or is he out of your scope as, as a 28-year-old?
- 55:11Have you seen Philadelphia? On— I, I really haven't seen
- 55:15a lot of Denzel movies. Okay. Um, but I'm starting
- 55:19with Training Day soon. Yes, but you
- 55:23hear— can you hear me out? No, you can't start with Training Day. Yes,
- 55:26you absolutely can. No, it's like a crescendo. First of all, literally,
- 55:31literally never say that there's a peak for Denzel. It's never— it
- 55:35never started, it never stops. Denzel is always
- 55:39the perfect— I agree. So you can't go wrong,
- 55:43and I'm not doing this with you. No, we're gonna do this. This is not
- 55:46like Tom Cruise. Hear me out. Tom Hanks. There's not any of that shit.
- 55:48Hear me out. Denzel is always good. I agree.
- 55:52Hear me out though. This is why I want you to hear me out.
- 55:55I want everyone to hear me out.
- 56:01Here's the deal. Phenomenal and everything.
- 56:05If you watch Malcolm X, incredible. If you watch
- 56:08fucking Crimson Tide,
- 56:11incredible. Philadelphia, incredible.
- 56:15The reason why I say this about Training Day is because in Training
- 56:19Day, it's the first time Denzel plays ultimately
- 56:23the worst son of a bitch who fucking— you're not supposed to give away the
- 56:27fucking movie. You know it from— I've seen one. Okay,
- 56:31I've seen— the problem is he's so fucking charming that
- 56:34he's the most lovable character in the movie, and that's
- 56:37the magic of Denzel. That's also why I think the ending of the movie and
- 56:42the way the movie goes— lots of flawed fucked up characters. No, but in that
- 56:45movie, he is just the worst and the best at the same time. I— the—
- 56:50it felt like— it felt like— hear me out on this. You ever see Interstellar?
- 56:53Yeah. I apologize. The first time you saw Interstellar,
- 56:57when you saw Matt Damon— when I saw Matt Damon, who I
- 57:00knew was in the movie based on the back of my mind, but it wasn't
- 57:02in the credits, wasn't like the— and then Matt Damon showed up, you were like,
- 57:05holy shit, it's Matt Damon! That's kind of what happened in the movie. But when
- 57:09Matt Damon showed up, I felt like, Matt Damon's here,
- 57:14everything's going to be okay. That's how I felt in
- 57:18Training Day. Denzel's here. No matter what, everything's gonna be okay. That's just— you're right,
- 57:22you're a mark. You're a fucking mark. Oh, you're just the worst type. You didn't—
- 57:25you didn't know Denzel. You're the worst type of person. You didn't know Denzel like
- 57:29I do. You don't trust Denzel the way I trust him, and that's a you
- 57:32problem. I trusted Denzel and he broke me in that movie. Okay,
- 57:35well, the same way Matt Damon broke me in Interstellar.
- 57:38Spoilers. I would never have trusted Matt Damon like that. I trusted him. I trusted
- 57:42you, Matt Damon. Oh my God. All right, uh,
- 57:46we obviously, we obviously made our point about the NFL power rankings.
- 57:50Uh, quick, quick, uh, we need to make a quick point about international basketball
- 57:54because, uh, fans are worried as France sets FIBA record,
- 57:58challenging Team USA's World Cup hopes. Now everybody knows the Team
- 58:01USA women have been playing in the FIBA World Cup. Um, they are,
- 58:05they've, they had a close call the other day, made it
- 58:09through that game. Yeah, it was a close call against Italy. But France,
- 58:13who has plenty of WNBA players themselves, have set a new tournament
- 58:17record by making 22 3-pointers in its 111-56
- 58:22win over Nigeria on Monday. The team shot 22-of-40 from beyond the arc,
- 58:25with Gabby Williams converting 6 triples, Marina Johannes adding 5
- 58:28more. So FIBA posted this news on X and fans immediately
- 58:32expressed mounting concern for the team. Team USA and France are on a collision course
- 58:36and they could meet in the finals because they're on each side of the bracket.
- 58:38It. I want to quickly— a lot of people don't watch
- 58:42international basketball and don't realize the differences in these games
- 58:46compared to watching the WNBA. And so people are incredibly frustrated
- 58:49with Kara Lawson, who I think is an incredible coach and the perfect
- 58:53coach for this team, the way she's been handing out minutes. They want to— of
- 58:56course they want to see more Angel Reese, they want to see more Caitlin Clark,
- 58:59who by the way, Caitlin Clark I'm pretty sure is like leading the team in
- 59:01minutes played. Like she's always on the court. Her and Paige Bueckers have like really
- 59:05been on the court a lot. Yeah. But everybody's like
- 59:09terrified now, right? And like international basketball,
- 59:13way more than club, you know, than league
- 59:17basketball, yeah, is about like stylistic matchup. Okay,
- 59:20so it's the more WNBA players
- 59:25on a team that you're playing, the more likely it is that they're going to
- 59:28be like a, like a difficult matchup for you because they, they know the kind
- 59:32of— they're familiar with their with their, you know, that, that's,
- 59:35that's obvious, right? That Italy had a lot of WNBA there,
- 59:38but not nearly like France. There was a couple.
- 59:43When you're playing international basketball, the very best thing you can do
- 59:46is put the most experienced competitors on the court as often
- 59:50as possible. Yes. Everybody is complaining that certain players aren't
- 59:54getting certain minutes. I need, like, and I need you
- 59:58to back me up on this because I know you agree with me. International play
- 1:00:02is so much more leadership-driven
- 1:00:05and like vibes-driven than your— than a normal fucking team. Oh my
- 1:00:10God, you didn't need to request me to be on your side on this.
- 1:00:13No, I know that. I, I was more like, you can, because I know you're
- 1:00:16going to agree. Yeah, no, I was— it was— I normally wouldn't do that,
- 1:00:20but I was like, you've played on an international— like, vibes exist.
- 1:00:23Yes, but there is leadership
- 1:00:27of like I like knowing, setting the tone,
- 1:00:30it setting the tone in a space like that in international basketball,
- 1:00:34it's different in international baseball, especially in a short span,
- 1:00:37the way you have to set it up. So condensed. Oh my God, it's crazy.
- 1:00:40So crazy. It's crazy. You're playing against players that you know on other
- 1:00:44teams in a way that's like way more intense because you're playing with your,
- 1:00:47like, with a flag on your chest. Yeah. And by the way,
- 1:00:50talent, like, we can make the argument, like, let's go like dream team.
- 1:00:54Obviously, I think what a people's minds would immediately go, yeah, talent can
- 1:00:57win out when you have outrageous talent.
- 1:01:01And I'm not saying that the, the U.S. team doesn't have outrageous talent, but at
- 1:01:04the end of the day, I mean, it— like, the U.S.— so the,
- 1:01:08so the U.S. men's basketball teams that lost, like,
- 1:01:11remember they had to do the redeem team? Yes. You know, everything went to hell.
- 1:01:16Those teams were more talented than any team in the world. They didn't lose because
- 1:01:19they weren't the most talented. They're the— they
- 1:01:23weren't a team though. Team USA, whether it's women's or men's,
- 1:01:27has— it has never not been the most talented team in the world. I completely
- 1:01:32agree. So not winning has never been about that. Not once.
- 1:01:35Always been about leadership and chemistry, and that
- 1:01:40is it. And when there have been upsets, that has been the
- 1:01:43deciding factor. And so I just wanted
- 1:01:47to throw this in here to let people know who are new to watching this,
- 1:01:50because I lot of our, our followers watch the WNBA
- 1:01:54and are watching, uh, the FIBA World Cup and are
- 1:01:57just really confused with how the lineups are working and how they're working things through.
- 1:02:02And like, there are certain lineups that people want with a
- 1:02:07lot of the younger players. No,
- 1:02:10no, there is a very specific thing that she's doing with her rotations
- 1:02:14and the way she's putting specific people in there. Really funny, interesting thing
- 1:02:18that they've learned, and this is only something you learn as you're going through these
- 1:02:20tournaments, the Caitlin Clark to Angel Reese connection is actually pretty— it's
- 1:02:24actually really good. I've seen it, I've seen multiple videos. It is actually really good.
- 1:02:27I'm not super surprised by— why wouldn't it be, right? She's a dynamic
- 1:02:31ball mover from the perimeter. She's able to send it in, and, and, and Angel
- 1:02:36Reese gets inside and is so powerful in there. She uses her size like so
- 1:02:39well. I was really— I know, I know this was a video that was like
- 1:02:42very popular. But watching her guard the 7'3 like
- 1:02:47Zhang was like really fun to watch. And Caitlin Clark
- 1:02:51is still figuring out— like all these younger players, Angel, Caitlin, Paige,
- 1:02:55are figuring out where they— how they work with this specific group of women.
- 1:02:58Caitlin Clark is not going to be a scorer on this team. That's been made
- 1:03:01very clear. She doesn't— she's not going to be a scorer. But she can dish
- 1:03:04against— exactly. She's a facilitator. She needs to be out there. She's pulling
- 1:03:07fucking Uh, she's pulling, you know, um, coverage. Like, she's— yeah,
- 1:03:11there, there is— it's noticeable. And so is Paige. The way Paige plays,
- 1:03:15a little more dynamic. She's a little bit more athletic. There's a— she drives inside
- 1:03:19a little bit more. But like, those things all match up with specific players
- 1:03:23in specific rotations, and you need them in specific ways. And like, while that does
- 1:03:26happen, of course, in the WNBA and in the NBA, whatever,
- 1:03:30there, the— there's a new thing that happens in international basketball.
- 1:03:34Like, nobody thought Jason Tatum wasn't a good enough NBA player to be on the
- 1:03:38fucking national team. But the reality is, the reality is,
- 1:03:41in 2024, those players that were
- 1:03:45playing— Joel Embiid was playing out of his fucking mind. He worked with
- 1:03:49Steph and LeBron and KD, and I forget who the fuck was, you know,
- 1:03:52like the 5th player that they had out there. But like,
- 1:03:56that's just how this stuff works. So people don't freak out, number one.
- 1:04:002, when it comes to a team like France, no matter
- 1:04:03how good that team looks to you, if they
- 1:04:07are shooting that many threes, all they
- 1:04:11got to do is defend on the perimeter a little bit better. And that,
- 1:04:13like, if you're telling me you don't think that the United States is a better
- 1:04:16perimeter defending team than Nigeria, like, relax. I'm not saying
- 1:04:20don't take it seriously, but like, they have the talent to win.
- 1:04:23So yeah, no, this is exciting. But, but by the
- 1:04:27way, the way that people are freaking out about France, Like, is freaking out the
- 1:04:30right word? Because I don't— if Team USA was to lose this,
- 1:04:35it's fine. Exactly. I'm not worried about it. Isn't this a good thing, kind of,
- 1:04:39for international basketball? They don't even have our best player. I know. Isn't this a
- 1:04:42kind of a good thing, just like in the long term? I don't hate it.
- 1:04:45Yeah, I don't either. It's the same way I'm looking at like the W— like
- 1:04:49the NBA All-Star Game. Like, I wanted Team World— I would love to
- 1:04:53fuck up Team USA. I would love to see them win without Asia because I
- 1:04:56think that like Asia's a cheat code and it would be cool to see them
- 1:04:59be able to do it without the best player. She's like when Captain Marvel shows
- 1:05:02up at the very end of Endgame, right? Um,
- 1:05:06so like it would be kind of cool to see them get it done,
- 1:05:09but also Asia's a cheat code and she's been around for a lot of these
- 1:05:12tournaments and they're figuring out how to win without her. And so, um, FIBA is
- 1:05:16different from the Olympics though. Queen Asia would be outside if this was the big
- 1:05:19one. Would be outside?
- 1:05:23Define outside. I don't know what that means.
- 1:05:26FIBA is different from the Olympics. I think he means she would be putting
- 1:05:30on a show. Oh, probably trying hard. Well, she definitely— that's what I
- 1:05:34just— he's agreeing with you, Tanya.
- 1:05:38But what's different from the Olympics though? I'm, I'm confused about the—
- 1:05:42about— I don't know, FIBA Olympics, it's a bigger deal. I don't know. No,
- 1:05:45bigger stage. Um, Either way,
- 1:05:48I think if we agree that— I think we— I think we're saying that Asia
- 1:05:53is a badass. Yeah, when I say she's a cheat code, yeah, in a great
- 1:05:56way. Best player. No, no, I think he's only— I think Isaiah is agreeing with
- 1:06:00you, not disagreeing. Yeah, let's be real clear on the best fucking
- 1:06:03basketball player, female basketball player in the world is.
- 1:06:06She's one of the best basketball players in the world of all time
- 1:06:10regardless. Okay, I apologize, but I just want to specify based on
- 1:06:14the context of what we're talking about. No, but, but that's kind of like where
- 1:06:17we're at with her, is that she's in the conversation of the best basketball players.
- 1:06:19Couldn't agree more. No, no, I want to make that abundantly clear. She's A'ja fucking
- 1:06:23Wilson. She is better than everyone on that court
- 1:06:27right now. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And, and like, more than anything, she's just
- 1:06:31such— she's a— she's one of the best two-way players we've ever seen. She's one
- 1:06:34of the best defenders and one of the best scorers. And we just don't— that's
- 1:06:36a, that's a very special combination of player. Very much so. Um, outside means she'd
- 1:06:40whooping ass. Oh, okay, there he is. See,
- 1:06:44we're all on the same page. We're all on the same page. All right,
- 1:06:47thank you, Isaiah. I appreciate it. Let's get to Media
- 1:06:51Corner. Yeah, because it's very important for everyone to know that
- 1:06:54I currently have a mild deal with Kelce.
- 1:06:58So Polymarket, you're the bad guys. Continue. You have a mild
- 1:07:02deal with Kelce? I do reads for them on my show. Okay, well good,
- 1:07:06we're talking about Polymarket. Yeah, Polymarket villains. LeBron James
- 1:07:10partners with Polymarket as latest athlete to enter the
- 1:07:14prediction market space. He revealed in a 60-second
- 1:07:18video to his X account Tuesday showing a commercial that features him stepping
- 1:07:21off an elevator after pressing the floor for sports. The caption reads, step inside
- 1:07:25Polymarket HQ, and features several retired athletes and celebrities such
- 1:07:29as Eli Manning, Rajon Rondo, Spike Lee, Alexander Daddario,
- 1:07:33Emily Ratajkowski, Derek Jeter, and others. This comes after stars
- 1:07:38like Giannis, Bryson DeChambeau, and Lionel Messi have all revealed
- 1:07:43deals with Kalshi. And Polymarket is
- 1:07:47the largest prediction market in the world. The platform allows people to trade
- 1:07:52on the outcomes of future events, including one that is live right now, which is
- 1:07:55whether or not LeBron will play with his son Bronny during the next season.
- 1:07:59Can't— like, this is like I already hated this. I hate all of
- 1:08:03this. I hate fucking all of this. I hate all of this.
- 1:08:06Hate it, hate it, hate it. I need— I
- 1:08:10need us to get back to fucking Earth. Okay. Can I ask— I'm going to
- 1:08:13ask a, like, genuinely serious question. Yes. And I will answer it.
- 1:08:18This feels to me— and so I guess I'm saying something
- 1:08:22I want to know if you agree with it or not. This feels to me
- 1:08:25like when, when, when we're talking about somebody like LeBron James, Bryson DeChambeau, Lionel Messi,
- 1:08:29The kind of money that these people have is like next level. Yeah. Um,
- 1:08:32they're some of the richest athletes playing. Yeah. This can't
- 1:08:37be about money. I— it's not. It can't possibly. And it's starting
- 1:08:41to freak me out. Yeah, me too. Because— thank you, thank you.
- 1:08:44Yeah, because like LeBron James has— like,
- 1:08:47I get that these guys, him, Tom Brady, they make stupid fucking decisions and
- 1:08:52they're like such attention hogs and I get it. Whatever. So things like this though
- 1:08:55My question is always one very, very specific thing. Why? Like,
- 1:08:58why is the purpose of this? Because the money— like,
- 1:09:02if— and if the money is like the amount of money it
- 1:09:06takes to be an undeniable amount of money for LeBron James, but he's already a
- 1:09:09billionaire, right? Should— is essentially should be like a billion dollars. It should be.
- 1:09:13Yes. So if it's that, like,
- 1:09:16that's scary. We should be scared. And if it's not
- 1:09:20because of money What is it about? You know what my issue—
- 1:09:24that I'm so confused. Yeah, go ahead.
- 1:09:27What's your issue? My issue is I don't know what this is for,
- 1:09:31but we already saw the precedent set with Giannis.
- 1:09:34And yeah, we're seeing Giannis doing commercials for, for Kalshi. Yeah, which he has
- 1:09:38all the right to do. But like, there was Kalshi bets
- 1:09:41on where Giannis will go, and Giannis was like all
- 1:09:45of a sudden a stockholder on Kalshi.
- 1:09:49Please make this make sense
- 1:09:53on how this is fucking legal. Did we know this is— this
- 1:09:56is— that's like 1919 Black Sox shit,
- 1:10:00but worse in my opinion. We have fully crossed into the
- 1:10:04threshold of like anything
- 1:10:07we ever thought was cheating or like around gambling
- 1:10:11before pales in comparison. I know, this is awful. This is the
- 1:10:15worst. It makes me feel actually like kind of,
- 1:10:19kind of, because did we not learn our— did
- 1:10:23we not learn our, our lesson with Bitcoin? Because this— no,
- 1:10:27because this money partnership gets them closer to team ownership.
- 1:10:31Does it? I'm, I'm trying to figure out, like,
- 1:10:35I mean, if the— if the— let's say we find out, and you might
- 1:10:39be right, Juanita, like, I— but if we find out this was,
- 1:10:42let's say, let's say he made a billion dollars off this deal, okay?
- 1:10:46And he's now worth $2 billion. Okay. Let's say he made it, which is— he
- 1:10:49didn't. He didn't make a billion with Polymarket. But let's say he made somebody.
- 1:10:53But let's say he did, right? Like, let's say he is now worth
- 1:10:57$2 billion. We just don't know it yet.
- 1:11:01That's not a meaningful difference between minority ownership.
- 1:11:05Like, he could be a minority owner and then work his way into majority ownership
- 1:11:09in the same level with $1 to $2 billion because he
- 1:11:13is LeBron James, the level of investment, the level of whatever else. He could work
- 1:11:16himself into. He's richer than Michael Jordan was when he bought
- 1:11:21into the Bulls. No question. I'm sorry, into the Hornets. Yeah. So that
- 1:11:25to me seems like, like it doesn't necessarily mean that Juanita is wrong,
- 1:11:30but that potentially means that there's a tie-in between ownership
- 1:11:34and the prediction markets, which is like bad.
- 1:11:39Well, that's not good. Like, we know— would we be surprised?
- 1:11:43But no, no, bad. Like, Yeah. And like, I don't— like,
- 1:11:47I would love to see more genuinely,
- 1:11:50like, like, meaningful, uh, Black ownership
- 1:11:54in sports. And like, tying it
- 1:11:58into like markets like this that are bubbles
- 1:12:02freaks me out. It freaks me the fuck out because like, listen, the, the valuations
- 1:12:07of teams are just crazy. We like— we hinted about it earlier.
- 1:12:11Artie Moreno just sold the fuck— his, his stake, not full stake,
- 1:12:15but majority stake. So I truly don't even know how much stake he's actually
- 1:12:18holding of the Angels, but he sold the majority stake for $4
- 1:12:22billion. Yeah. The Angels, the longest
- 1:12:26drought in playoffs in all of Major League Baseball, second most in all of professional
- 1:12:31major sports in the United States behind the Jets. A team that
- 1:12:35has no minor league system or infrastructure. A team
- 1:12:39that is, as of right now, a decade from competing with anyone
- 1:12:43else in Major League Baseball. They sold for
- 1:12:47$4 billion and not entirely.
- 1:12:51Again, the majority stake. Mm-hmm.
- 1:12:55I'm sorry. Please, for the love
- 1:12:58of God, make that make sense to me. Yeah, I like—
- 1:13:02I, I would love I would love for LeBron,
- 1:13:05I would love for Giannis, I would love for like Serena Williams
- 1:13:10and all these. I would love for these players to end up in meaningful
- 1:13:14ownership situations. But I— doing
- 1:13:18it in partnership with prediction markets,
- 1:13:21it's— it's bad. It is so dangerous.
- 1:13:25It's just— it's not gambling. Well, and Cody,
- 1:13:29What's going to happen is that as soon as the, as the
- 1:13:33scandal with, with prediction markets breaks
- 1:13:38and people are pinpointed and their fingers are pointed,
- 1:13:42are they pointing it at the Mark Cubans of the world?
- 1:13:45Are they pointing it at the white billionaires or are they pointing it at LeBron
- 1:13:48James? LeBron James. Every fucking time.
- 1:13:51100%. They're going to point it at the, at the Black
- 1:13:55players and the women. Who's Black? Who's Black? Who's Black and who's favorite?
- 1:13:58Female. The end. Let me remind you, somebody might be gay. I want you
- 1:14:02to think about— I want you to think about who is the only person you've
- 1:14:05ever heard of in our lifetime,
- 1:14:08maybe ever, that went to prison for insider
- 1:14:12trading? Martha Stewart. Martha Stewart.
- 1:14:17The one person that ever
- 1:14:21went to prison during that entire thing.
- 1:14:24Martha Stewart. Glad we got her.
- 1:14:30It's always— it's never going to be the white men. No.
- 1:14:34And I'm just nervous about where this is leading. I can
- 1:14:38only imagine. Yeah, where this is, because this shit's not legal.
- 1:14:41Polymarketing? No, like, it's not legal. No, it's legal.
- 1:14:45But in fairness, in fairness, and hear me out on this, it's not— it's
- 1:14:49not hear me out on this. It's just the fact is, is it any more
- 1:14:52crazy than hedge funds buying teams? That's all fucking gambling too.
- 1:14:56It's just public marketing. Well, it is because like that,
- 1:15:01again, the insider trading
- 1:15:04within hedge funds is also illegal, right? Yeah. But currently what
- 1:15:08we're seeing is LeBron James can partner with—
- 1:15:12you're right— Polymarket, and then there can be bets
- 1:15:16on what he's going to do. Yes. Which I sided with Giannis saying.
- 1:15:19No, no, you're right. I'm not saying that they don't don't do that with hedge
- 1:15:22funds, but they do at least try to hide it. Like, this is so out
- 1:15:25in the open. This is scary. It's unregulated. That's the worst part. And when—
- 1:15:29what happens when they do decide to regulate it? What happens when they do decide
- 1:15:32to crack down? Oh God, what is the Staples Center called? Crypto.com.
- 1:15:35Aren't they changing it back because crypto's already gone to hell? Like,
- 1:15:39Staples still the company? Staples the store? Yeah,
- 1:15:43yeah. I mean, I don't know if they're changing it back to Staples, but aren't
- 1:15:45they changing it from Crypto Arena? Because like, it was first I heard. I don't
- 1:15:48know. Like, I'm pretty sure that, like, because cryptocurrency has—
- 1:15:53and you— I couldn't tell a single fucking bro, like,
- 1:15:578 years ago, I could not tell them I didn't want— they could not—
- 1:16:00I could not be convinced. And they were like, come on, come on.
- 1:16:04I mean this from the bottom of my heart. The dumbest fucks I
- 1:16:08knew were into crypto. That's why I never got into crypto. Apologies to anybody
- 1:16:11who was into crypto in our comments. Like, I understand, but at the end of
- 1:16:14the day, it was a— it's Like, it didn't— I can't keep falling for this
- 1:16:18shit. Remember, remember MTFs? Wait, were you into crypto?
- 1:16:22I hold a lot of crypto. Of course you fucking do. Oh no,
- 1:16:25we have a crypto growing. We gotta save you. And I have
- 1:16:29made over $10,000 from it. Okay, well— And
- 1:16:34I still have more crypto. And it's going up as we speak.
- 1:16:38There's this thing called
- 1:16:42Zcash. Please tell me more.
- 1:16:47I will tell you more, Mocha. Listen, it's almost 2x'd
- 1:16:51in the past like 3 months. Good. You know what that's called?
- 1:16:55Fucking— there are, there are, there are high interest.
- 1:16:59I bought, I bought a car off crypto. I bought
- 1:17:03my car with my crypto. It does have a nice— you cannot tell
- 1:17:08me That crypto is bullshit. Okay,
- 1:17:12this dude's never heard of a CD. That's the problem. This is
- 1:17:16the biggest problem, is that like everybody thinks crypto is the only way to invest
- 1:17:20money that like— that I actually have. I don't think that. I have other
- 1:17:24hands. He hit. Hey, listen, the guy hit. When you
- 1:17:28hit, you hit. Got out where the getting was good.
- 1:17:32I am dying. Either way, I do think you're a sucker.
- 1:17:35Either way, by the way, reap rewards. By the way, good for you,
- 1:17:39Logan. We're proud. No, I actually— I am very proud of you. And if I
- 1:17:42were to trust anybody to handle their crypto efficiently, it would be
- 1:17:46you. But believe me, believe me,
- 1:17:50I have tons of friends. Yes, tons of friends
- 1:17:54who are dumb about their crypto, who have been in it the same amount of
- 1:17:58time as me. Yeah, they are negative as fuck.
- 1:18:01I can bet. What about NFTs? Did you get an NFT?
- 1:18:05Yes, and NFTs, it's hilarious.
- 1:18:09I— my NFT portfolio was worth like
- 1:18:13$20,000 at its peak, and I didn't
- 1:18:17sell it, and I ended up selling it all for like $7,000.
- 1:18:22Okay, but how much you put in? How much you put in?
- 1:18:26Um, probably like $3,000. Good job. All right,
- 1:18:30that's a good— that's good, all things considered. That's good.
- 1:18:34But man, that bubble, that bubble went fast on that one. It was,
- 1:18:38it was the time. NFTs was crazy. NFTs was so dumb.
- 1:18:41I fucking love that Mocha's back. Yeah, I, I remember I
- 1:18:46was sitting at a dinner table with my dad and I was like, yeah,
- 1:18:48they're, they're worth like $20,000. She's like, sell it now,
- 1:18:53sell it now. I'm like, no, you always listen to that.
- 1:18:58All right. That's not my favorite part of this show. Yeah, that's really
- 1:19:02good shit. Listen, I am glad that you're— that
- 1:19:06crypto is working for you. And but I will say,
- 1:19:09I will say there is, there is a level of like,
- 1:19:13I mean, investment sort of savvy, right,
- 1:19:16that works in that space that just like does not work in
- 1:19:20a futures betting space. And it's just, it's, it's the— we're
- 1:19:23getting into like really shady. By the way, everyone in the chat is thrilled you're
- 1:19:27here for this conversation. I'm so thrilled.
- 1:19:30What— wait, throw up, throw up a— wait, what do we got for comments on
- 1:19:34Mocha? Uh, Maria, we definitely needed Mocha around for this combo. Koda— I— Cody,
- 1:19:39I loved NFTs. NFTs are for suckers. Oh my God,
- 1:19:43NFTs, man. Chance, uh, make 401s great
- 1:19:48again.
- 1:19:52Make 401s— oh, sorry, Isaiah, not Chance.
- 1:19:55No, no, that's the winner. That's the fucking winner, dude. That's funny as
- 1:19:59fuck. Um, listen, we got a little time. You want to do 5 minutes on
- 1:20:02Pop Culture Corner? Yeah, let's do it. All right, what do you got? What do
- 1:20:05you got for us today? Um, I'm not much. I will say I'm caught up
- 1:20:08in Lanterns, by the way. Yeah, holy shit, best show on TV. Yeah,
- 1:20:11we're big Lanterns guys. Oh, I think that
- 1:20:16the— I think that the last episode was like the best episode so far
- 1:20:19in terms of, um, in terms of like just like the—
- 1:20:24like my heart rate. Oh, I know, I get that. I will say though,
- 1:20:26episode 3 with the story of John Stewart, the way you talked about
- 1:20:31it, yeah, 100%. Yeah,
- 1:20:34because here's the thing, the first scene was the ring coming into John
- 1:20:37Stewart's father and he said he was afraid. I am— I paused
- 1:20:41and I said to Annie out loud, I know what they're fucking doing.
- 1:20:46Okay, hold on. If you haven't watched, um, Lanterns and you
- 1:20:50want to, I'm gonna ask Cody a question that might spoil it, so I don't—
- 1:20:54I don't want you guys to leave, but just in case Or you're not into
- 1:20:57it. Well, here's the thing. I don't know where they're going, what they're gonna draw
- 1:20:59from, but I know everything about Green Lantern lore. I have a theory about
- 1:21:03this specific thing that I don't think can come from lore. Let's hear it.
- 1:21:05I think that when the Lantern— because they don't— they clearly
- 1:21:09don't know what the fuck they're doing. They admit in the episode that they don't
- 1:21:13understand the nature of the Black American experience. No.
- 1:21:17Yes. They don't understand the difference between being Black American and being like a
- 1:21:21white guy in America. Um, and I think it's a bit of a shoddy business.
- 1:21:24She shows up with like a big diamond to be like, sorry guys, here you
- 1:21:28go, this will fix the problem, freaked you out. It seems to be very like
- 1:21:32they don't understand the, like, even like the human world
- 1:21:35or the setup. I think they— the Green Lantern
- 1:21:39showed up for John's mom.
- 1:21:43She had just gotten out of— like, she was— hadn't—
- 1:21:47we saw her get up Get out of the room and
- 1:21:51it shows up like almost immediately. John freaks out.
- 1:21:55Like, John Sr. freaks out, like, to a point where it's like, there's no way
- 1:21:58you thought this guy was a kid. He was scared in a level like he
- 1:22:01was. And I'm not in— but like, but the way they— the way they made
- 1:22:05it seem and the way they portrayed it made me go like, yeah,
- 1:22:09like an African-American being attacked by
- 1:22:12a green light. You're not hearing me. Okay, I'm so sorry. What I'm saying is
- 1:22:16he— it shows up, he's terrified. Yes. Mom turns
- 1:22:21out to be the one who is like, like fully
- 1:22:24on board with training him. Fully on, right? She has the far
- 1:22:28more Green Lantern personality. She deals with the
- 1:22:32Guardians. She deals with like, in some way, shape, or form,
- 1:22:35it like— and we never see a version of John Sr.
- 1:22:39that looks like somebody who would have been the Lantern. I would
- 1:22:43actually— I would agree with that. Right. But they did also say that the other
- 1:22:47candidates have shown like problems after
- 1:22:50the fact. Like Hal. They're talking about Hal. They hate
- 1:22:54Hal. Hal's the best. But the Guardians hate Hal. Well, that's their
- 1:22:57fault because they picked the best guy.
- 1:22:59Well, he really fucked up that mission
- 1:23:03in— in— for— yeah, he shouldn't have done that.
- 1:23:07He went out, got drunk at a titty bar, and then just like— no,
- 1:23:09I agreed with that part. It was the second part. Like, that was He fucked
- 1:23:13over John on that one. Yeah, I always agree with getting drunk at a titty
- 1:23:16bar. No, no, no, part one I'm on board with. I don't care if you
- 1:23:19have a power ring or not, you get drunk at a titty bar. Of course,
- 1:23:23yes. But that being said, but don't like fuck up an international like thing.
- 1:23:27Yeah, that's, that's the whole thing apparently with Green Lantern. You're not supposed to
- 1:23:31do that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But I do think that it was always
- 1:23:35supposed to be Bernadette. So I think you might be right about that. That's a
- 1:23:38great theory. Um, can I tell you something that
- 1:23:42it's only getting more and more like, like reinforced?
- 1:23:46Sure. Kyle Chandler, your guy. My guy is the
- 1:23:50fucking best. He's the greatest actor alive. He's the greatest actor alive.
- 1:23:54I would say that except he's our Brando currently. Well, currently right
- 1:23:58now I'm on a big Matthew Rhys kick. Matthew Rhys.
- 1:24:01Matthew Rhys. Yeah. So he's nominated for 2
- 1:24:05different things at the Emmys this week. He's gonna be— he's nominated for The Beast
- 1:24:08in Me that he did with Claire Danes, which was— I didn't see it,
- 1:24:11but I heard about it. Incredible. He was amazing. Claire Danes is always great,
- 1:24:15but like, he was amazing. And he's in Widow's Bay, which is also— okay,
- 1:24:18so he's the guy from The Americans. Yes. Okay, I have not watched Widow's Bay.
- 1:24:22Keri Russell. But now I'm out of— yes, I know. Fucking do I
- 1:24:27know Keri Russell. Did you watch The Americans? Yes. Okay, I love Keri
- 1:24:31Russell. Not because of The Americans, but also because— so Matthew Rhys is really,
- 1:24:35really crushing right now. Dude, I gotta watch Widow's Bay. I, I've— I've
- 1:24:39been waiting. I know, I know. Yeah, I haven't got around to it.
- 1:24:43My girlfriend's scared of things. I'm scared of things. I'm more scared of
- 1:24:47things than anything. Like, I'm terrified. Comedy though, isn't it? She can watch Widow's Bay.
- 1:24:51I— if I'm— when I tell you I am the biggest— I hate gore,
- 1:24:53I hate jump scares, I hate whatever. There's a little bit of jump scares here
- 1:24:57and there. There's like whatever. No, she can watch it. I promise you she can
- 1:24:59watch it. Widow's Bay is sick. Okay, okay, I will
- 1:25:04watch Widow's Bay next. Okay, that is my next thing in my show. Yes.
- 1:25:07You hate gore but you're like a House of Dragons fan? Yeah, it's— thank
- 1:25:11you, that doesn't make fucking sense. Thank you, Loka.
- 1:25:14I— do you understand how often I watch that
- 1:25:18show like this? Like, the thing about the House of the Dragons, uh,
- 1:25:22there was— so, uh, Game of Thrones and House of Dragons, there was one
- 1:25:26time I got caught— I got caught slipping where
- 1:25:29I didn't know something gross was gonna happen. Yeah, and it traumatized me. Me.
- 1:25:32Which one? What was it? It was, um, Pedro Pascal and the mountain.
- 1:25:38Oh man, I have an eye phobia. Like, I, I have an eye phobia to
- 1:25:42begin with. Fucking broke. So that fucked up. Um, but like, I— that show
- 1:25:46is constructed in such a way that like I almost always know when I need
- 1:25:49to go like this. What— when watching Game of Thrones or
- 1:25:53House of the Dragon, all, all like it— let's encompass the entire 10-season
- 1:25:57arcs of everything. So far, including— I don't know, I didn't watch The Night
- 1:26:01of the Seven Kings. I heard it was good, but I didn't watch it.
- 1:26:03It's so good. I, I'm still heartbroken on how
- 1:26:07Game of Thrones ended, so I just have not given them the credit to go
- 1:26:10back. It's hard to forgive them, but it's— I hear what you're saying,
- 1:26:14but I haven't been willing. They're not even the same. But like, it's not even
- 1:26:18the same people making the show. I hear what you're saying. Well,
- 1:26:21you can't just say that and then be like, no, but I just have no
- 1:26:24reason. You know, I hear what you're saying. No.
- 1:26:27That's, that's stupid. I hear what you're saying. You hear what I'm saying? I hear
- 1:26:31what you're saying. Thank you. Moki hears what I'm saying. It's not made by
- 1:26:34the same people. It's the same universe. It's hard. Nautical history now.
- 1:26:39No, it's not. Hard to go back. Like, literally not. But isn't it?
- 1:26:42I know what the— no, it is, it is canonically connected. Thank you.
- 1:26:46Oh, I see what you're saying. You're saying just because you know what's gonna happen—
- 1:26:49I'm not saying this is a perfect scenario in my mind.
- 1:26:53For somebody who's a comic book fan, it makes no sense, and it's just— it's
- 1:26:57fake news because you're perfectly fine with knowing specific
- 1:27:00canon going forwards. You know what I don't like is when you're making sense
- 1:27:05to poke holes into my perfect logic. No,
- 1:27:09but fuck you, fuck you. What I will say is
- 1:27:13I do have those moments when I'm watching House of the Dragon,
- 1:27:16I'm like, this is awesome, too bad it eventually turns
- 1:27:19to shit. Thank you, thank you. And too bad whatever
- 1:27:24this character is prophesying, but you feel like we'll turn to shit.
- 1:27:27I mean, I'm not— I'm not saying I'm right. It's not an unfamiliar— I'm just
- 1:27:31saying I agree. I also just— I think it's so—
- 1:27:36I think it's— I, I don't personally have an issue with knowing
- 1:27:39where something goes as long as it's like— I now, I want to go— you
- 1:27:43tell me if you're— if I'm wrong, uh, but I want to go fully
- 1:27:47back to Valyria. Like, Mocha, don't you kind of want to just like see Valyria?
- 1:27:51I want to see— of course, like the prime of like the dragons
- 1:27:55and the, and the, and the families in, in Old Valyria. Honestly, I want
- 1:27:59to go back and see it. I know what happens. I want to see it.
- 1:28:01I want to go the other way. You know what, I'm— I, I want them
- 1:28:04to fix season 7. I want season 8. All right,
- 1:28:08that's what I want. It's not happening, so just— I don't think it's not happening.
- 1:28:12I think it's only a matter of time before— I do too. He's going to
- 1:28:15die. Yeah, and that's when we're getting Season 8. No, we gotta
- 1:28:19fix this. That might be worse though. It wasn't his fault that they fucked it
- 1:28:22up in the first— although I do kind of think it was his fault.
- 1:28:24It was also his fault. Yeah, it was his fault because he didn't finish it.
- 1:28:26He was there. By the way, there's a— I love the theory that he— that
- 1:28:30that's how he wrote it. Like, in his head he was originally gonna have
- 1:28:33that as ending, and because it was like— exactly, now that everyone reacted
- 1:28:37the way they did, he's like, that wasn't my
- 1:28:41plan. Fuck you. Will say, and I've always said this,
- 1:28:44Bran was a much— like, in the books is like
- 1:28:48a way more like fleshed out character.
- 1:28:52Yeah, there's so much more lore to Bran.
- 1:28:55If the journey is good enough, I don't mind. I would love to get into
- 1:28:58that in season fucking 8. See, though, the Meek—
- 1:29:02if the journey is good enough, I don't know, I don't mind knowing the next—
- 1:29:04oh, fuck you, CeeLo. The ending is bad. I'm not gonna
- 1:29:08lie, that's That's a fucking bar. That's a bar.
- 1:29:12It's kind of like— it's like sex. It's like, you know what's gonna happen,
- 1:29:15you know, eventually. It can also be great, you know?
- 1:29:18That's what I'm saying. It doesn't need to just be end. It doesn't need to
- 1:29:21be fucking, don't stop.
- 1:29:24Wait, what? That was the ending of Sopranos. Got that? Thank you.
- 1:29:29He fucking got that. There's a couple moments where I'm like, damn it, I want
- 1:29:31Damon to conquer the planet. Yeah, I always have, but then We
- 1:29:36know how it ends. But we— thank you. See, can't watch it.
- 1:29:40We know how it ends. That's like my entire experience. I like your support Isaiah
- 1:29:43comments. But we know how it ends. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
- 1:29:47Thank you. You know what else? I can't do it. You know what else,
- 1:29:49Cody? Yeah. Something that people always know what's gonna happen.
- 1:29:53They, they know how this show ends. Fucking— that's a sagui
- 1:29:57that you can't be taught. Everybody knows
- 1:30:01how this show ends, but we do it the same every single time anyway.
- 1:30:05And as always, I want to thank you for joining us.
